3rd (6) Kow Boy Sivola
4Alan DoyleLucinda RussellBrother to high-class chaser Funambule Sivola; well down the field in soft-ground course bumper for John McConnell in April; now makes hurdle debut for new stable (same owner).
4th (4) Chief Sunday
4Finn LambertNigel Twiston-DaviesWith a good stable but didn't show a great deal in two Warwick bumpers (soft/good) towards end of last season and needs to take a big step forward on this hurdling debut.
(2) The Dipper
5Sean QuinlanNicky RichardsTailed off over C&D (good) when 66-1 for recent hurdle debut.
(5) Knomorediamonds
4Patrick WadgeLucinda RussellClose third in junior bumper at Newcastle (good) last December and not beaten far when fourth of five against own age-group over hurdles at Hexham (2m, heavy; first-time hood) in April, but has a bit to find with the principals here.
2nd (3) Tommys Law
5Derek FoxLucinda RussellWell beaten over 2m4f on hurdle debut in February but came second at Ayr (good to soft) and over C&D (soft) when dropped to 2m for final two starts last season; likely to encounter quicker ground here but ought to be a tough nut to crack.
1st (1) Deploy To Spy
6Sean BowenOlly MurphyIn contention when brought down at penultimate flight on hurdle debut at Uttoxeter (2m, soft) in July and delivered on that promise when drawing nicely clear to score over same C&D (good) later that month; has a bit more to do under his penalty here but probably has more improvement to come.

Tommys Law ran well in defeat on consecutive appearances towards the end of last season and is not opposed lightly but DEPLOY TO SPY quickened nicely clear on the run-in at Uttoxeter in July and might be good enough to overcome his penalty.[Chris Wilson]

(5) Balally Park
5Ross ChapmanRebecca MenziesEx-Irish maiden; 50-1 but only beaten about 7l when ninth of 13 on stable/handicap debut at Cartmel (2m6f, good; first-time hood) in June; remains unexposed; interesting to see whether he's stronger in the betting here.
4th (6) Sauce Of Life
9Danny McMenaminNicky RichardsVery lightly raced 9yo who returned from 853-day absence to make fairly encouraging handicap debut in March (2m2f); not seen again since but tries a new trip here and is another unexposed one.
(9) Palm Beach
7Mr John DixonJohn DixonFinished with a rattle to snatch third over C&D (good) in July but two lesser efforts have followed and he's 5lb out of the weights today; swaps cheekpieces for refitted blinkers.
(8) Malangen
9Peter KavanaghLisa HarrisonGained four of his nine hurdle wins here; behind Matchless and slightly below form when fifth over 2m 16 days ago but last month's third of 15 behind Fourofakind over C&D was a good effort and he's now 1lb lower.
(7) Bridgetjoans
5Callum BewleySimon Waugh0-7 over hurdles; runner-up twice on soft ground (2m3f/2m2f) when fitted with a visor towards end of last season but absent since running poorly over C&D in May (raced too freely); visor left off today.
3rd (1) Bois Guillbert
5Patrick WadgeLucinda Russell3-8 over hurdles; not quite at best when last seen in March but won off very similar mark to today's when fresh last autumn and could have untapped potential over this new trip (unraced beyond 2m1f).
(4) Vocal Duke
8Leah NoreciJames MoffattRan game race in defeat when close third under Leah Noreci at Cartmel (2m1f, soft) last month and should also be suited by today's trip-and-ground combination, but it's questionable whether he'll be seen to the same effect on this very different track.
2nd (2) Matchless
6Sean QuinlanJennie CandlishGave pretty good account when fourth here (2m, good) on recent return to hurdling and is now 3lb lower than when winning over 1m7f last autumn; unexposed over this trip; shortlisted.
1st (3) Fourofakind
5Conor RabbittLizzie QuinlanDidn't fire on stable debut in July but was quickly back in the groove with 3l C&D (good) win last month; not disgraced in competitive Flat handicap since and has a big role to play today.

Fourofakind was a pretty good C&D winner on his latest hurdling start but the answer might be upped-in-trip 5yo BOIS GUILLBERT, who won when fresh last autumn and now bids to repeat that feat from a workable mark. Matchless might also have untapped potential over 2m4f and is another to consider.[Chris Wilson]

(3) Mojo Ego
4Charlotte JonesJames MoffattLanded two small-field 3yo hurdles for Harry Derham last term (good, good to soft); respectable debut for new yard last month but still beaten over 9l, and mark still looks plenty tough despite a 2lb drop.
(5) Old Gregorian
5Derek FoxLucinda RussellNever travelling on April's handicap debut (C&D, soft), and present attainment level uncertain having not been seen since; mark unchanged, and genuinely good ground would ask a new question; tongue-tie removed.
4th (2) Cuban Cigar
6Alan DoyleLucinda RussellUsually finds a race a season over hurdles, and this month's C&D second (good; Ravenscraig Castle over 1l behind) was almost it; up another 1lb, but solid claims should the visor debuted there inspire again.
(1) Cave Court
7Mr O McGillNoel C KellyKicked off a hurdle/chase four-timer with success in a C&D 0-105 over a year ago (good to soft; sole previous visit); will find this less frenetic than the 20-runner Galway handicap latest, though a mark 13lb higher than any ever won off home or away leaves little margin for error.
3rd (7) Caldwell
7Sean QuinlanJennie CandlishJuly's Worcester class 5 win was his first over hurdles since winter 2021, though a third back there since (both 2m, good) is stronger form; remains to be seen whether he's still up to this level in this discipline.
1st (4) Bowling Buddy
6Sean BowenOlly MurphyIrish point winner (3m) who didn't have to improve much on his British debut second (good) to beat Ravenscraig Castle by 5l in a Cartmel novice last month (2m1f, soft); no chances taken on his initial mark, but stamina to spare in this sphere and has been found a good opportunity.
2nd (6) Ravenscraig Castle
6Brian HughesIain JardineLosing run stands at 28 Flat/hurdles starts across over three years now, though this month's 2l C&D handicap third (good) off the same mark rates a clear best in this sphere; just have to hope this doesn't come too soon after finishing well down the field on the Flat at Ayr last Friday.

His initial mark compares pretty unfavourably set against the RPRs run to in just two hurdles starts to date, but BOWLING BUDDY likely didn't have to reach that deeply into himself at Cartmel last time and this Irish point winner could get a few of these in trouble if making count his spare stamina at the trip. Cuban Cigar rates the logical threat, assuming he takes as kindly to the visor as it appeared earlier in the month here. [Jeremy Grayson]

3rd (3) Inis Oirr
7Derek FoxLucinda RussellOpened chasing account and took form to whole new level when upped to 3m7f and fitted with a visor at Musselburgh (good to soft) in February, winning valuable Edinburgh National easily by 21l; absent since mid-race fall in Scottish National in April and now drops back in trip but could easily improve again as a stayer this season.
1st (4) Hidden Depths
9James BowenNeil MulhollandCareer-best performance when coming from behind to win going away at Worcester (2m7f, good) in July but managed only fourth when back there last month and has more on his plate in this higher grade.
2nd (1) Kinondo Kwetu
8Jonathan EnglandSam EnglandSuffered alarming dip in form in the spring but bounced back to win twice on good ground during the summer (3m2f/2m7f), and is now 8-16 over fences; doesn't often run on right-handed tracks but remains on a good mark after latest 3lb rise.
4th (5) Wasdell Dundalk
9Danny McMenaminLisa HarrisonCompleted C&D hat-trick when landing this prize in 2023 and was back in peak form here 16 days ago, winning a shade cosily by half a length; recent 3lb rise is not excessive; respected.
(2) Statuario
9Sean BowenPeter & Michael BowenIn career-best form in spring/summer, winning twice over C&D (good to soft/good to firm) before very creditable third in Summer Plate at Market Rasen (2m6f, good); last month's trip to Galway did not pay dividends but he remains very much of interest.

There should be more to come from the returning Inis Oirr at some stage this season but the big jolt of improvement he displayed at Musselburgh in February came over 3m7f, and he probably has other valuable marathons as his main targets. Kinondo Kwetu returned to form with two good wins this summer but he may have a preference for left-handed tracks and this might be fought out by the multiple course winners STATUARIO (nap) and Wasdell Dundalk. The Bowen runner gets the nod.[Chris Wilson]

6Patrick WadgeLucinda Russell0-7 over hurdles but was placed off today's mark at Market Rasen (2m4f, good) in May and might improve for this switch to fences.
3rd (7) Jackhammer
10Conor O'FarrellDianne SayerWent close in a 7f Flat race last month and returns to chasing on a good mark but his record under both codes over the last year or so is very mixed and he's not an easy one to predict.
(5) Animore
11Brian HughesHugh BurnsReturned from long absence with two heavy defeats for new stable this summer but last month's fourth at Cartmel (2m5f, soft; first-time tongue-tie) was more encouraging; she needs to build on that performance here but has the services of Brian Hughes again.
5th (6) Augharue
7Sam ColtherdStuart ColtherdSuggested his turn was near when very close second at Sedgefield (2m1f, good) in May but was soundly beaten on both outings in June and returns from break with career strike-rate standing at 0-17.
(8) Buck Of Maine
5Shane FenelonPeter & Michael BowenPlaced off today's mark in modest race at Stratford (2m3f, good; first-time blinkers) in July but safely held twice since and now 0-11 overall; others look stronger.
4th (9) Coilrock
7James TurnerD J Jeffreys0-10 over hurdles but ran well in defeat in first-time cheekpieces at Ludlow (3m, good; well backed) in May, and her cosy Irish point win in 2022 bodes well for her chasing prospects; 4lb wrong here but could have a say.
1st (1) Indian Louis
6Derek FoxLucinda RussellMade all off today's mark at Musselburgh (2m4f, soft) on New Year's Day but was pulled up in latest chase in April and both hurdle runs in May were underwhelming; needs to have been refreshed by four-month break.
2nd (4) Post No Bills
9Sean BowenRyan PotterThree-time chase winner on good ground in 2023 (2m1f-2m5f); out of form since returning from a break in March but has slipped to a dangerous mark and Sean Bowen (aboard the last twice) is booked again today.
(2) Thank You Blue
7Sean QuinlanJennie CandlishMade a somewhat shaky start to his chasing career this summer but seemed to be getting his act together when keeping on well to take third at Worcester (2m4f, good) a fortnight ago; drops from 0-120 grade today and could be very dangerous at this level.

Three-time chase winner Post No Bills has become very well handicapped and will be greatly feared if strong in the betting but THANK YOU BLUE is also on a good mark, and he kept on well to be placed in a much stronger race than this at Worcester a fortnight ago. Chasing debutant Coilrock is also of interest.[Chris Wilson]

(8) Swift Reply
8Callum BewleySimon WaughOutran 50-1 odds when runner-up at Sedgefield (2m4f, soft) in January, his second handicap, but was well beaten on next two outings (albeit with excuses last time); returns from 140-day break here; too risky.
(11) Mistertommyshelby
8Conor RingRyan PotterPulled up (albeit on heavy ground) when 33-1 at Cartmel last month and has now been unplaced all 16 starts; cheekpieces (worn once in Ireland in 2020) given another whirl here; 5lb out of the handicap.
(7) Prince Nino
7Peter KavanaghLizzie QuinlanGenerally very disappointing since his two C&D wins last summer but arrested his decline with battling third behind Pateen here this month and remains very well handicapped on older form.
3rd (4) Bridge Road
8Sean QuinlanJennie CandlishWell handicapped on 2022-23 season form but well below that level since returning from long layoff this term (four runs); considered only if lively in betting.
(3) Diamond State
8Conner McCannLucinda RussellPlaced twice here this season (2m4f/3m) and probably won't be far away today but he's nothing like the force of old and has not won since 2022; others have more exciting profiles.
(6) Zuul
6Nathan MoscropRebecca MenziesPlaced in the last two of his three handicap hurdles, both times at Market Rasen (2m4f, good) in June; 3lb higher this time but could still have a bigger run in him; hood refitted.
(2) Pateen
12Aaron AndersonJessica BediVeteran who won twice on good ground this summer, latterly over C&D 16 days ago; not particularly consistent, though, and recent 5lb rise might be enough to leave him vulnerable today.
4th (10) Iolani
12William MaggsMiss A M SlackWell past his prime now but held on gamely to win selling handicap at Cartmel (2m1f, soft) in May and went down fighting when clear second at Kelso (2m2f, good) a week ago; big player off same mark if in similar mood here.
1st (9) Happy Index
6Sean BowenOlly MurphyJust 1-12 over hurdles but, having attracted heavy market support, was a clear second on this month's stable debut at Fontwell (2m5f, good to soft); sports refitted cheekpieces here and could still have more to offer for Olly Murphy.
(5) Turkey And Ham
6Mr O McGillNoel C Kelly0-8 over hurdles but ran big race when placed on latest British raid at Uttoxeter (2m7f, good to soft) in June, and her recent Kilbeggan fourth (3m, yielding) was perfectly respectable; one to consider.
2nd (1) Superbolt
4James TurnerNigel Twiston-DaviesSafely held when sixth at Bangor (2m, good) for Cathy O'Leary in June and now 0-5 over hurdles but moves up in trip for stable debut (same owner) and it will be interesting to see what Nigel Twiston-Davies can do with him.

Another chance is given to HAPPY INDEX, who was unable to justify strong market support when only second on her recent stable debut but arguably suffered more than the winner did from the antics of an errant loose horse in the home straight and was a long way clear of the third. Irish raider Turkey And Ham is second choice, while dual C&D winner Prince Nino seemed to have turned a corner on his latest outing and Superbolt looks quite interesting on his debut for Nigel Twiston-Davies.[Chris Wilson]

(9) Princess Unique
5Shane FenelonPeter & Michael BowenUnexposed after only six hurdling starts and was very respectable fourth at Market Rasen (2m4f, good) in July, but performed poorly on her latest outing and needs to learn to settle much better.
(10) Don't Look Back
6Derek FoxWilliam Young JnrDidn't run badly when fifth at Cartmel (2m1f, soft; refitted cheekpieces) last month but, following a recent mishap here, he's now 0-16 over hurdles; needs to find improvement from somewhere.
(6) Emily Wade
7Jonathan EnglandSam EnglandWon readily in first-time tongue-tie at Southwell (2m4f, good) in June but her form has slumped since; can be excused her most recent defeat (on heavy ground) but still arrives here with a point to prove.
(2) Ithaka
8Conor RingRyan PotterMostly well beaten since landing a gamble at Wincanton (2m5f, good) in March 2023 but his 50-1 third at Taunton (3m, soft) in March this year was a reminder that he retains ability; worth keeping an eye on in the betting.
4th (7) Lenebane
6Aaron AndersonRebecca Menzies0-16 over hurdles but came second twice at Market Rasen (2m4f, good) when the visor was refitted this summer and has very obvious each-way claims if judged on those efforts.
2nd (1) Dalileo
9Peter KavanaghLisa HarrisonDoubled hurdling tally with 3m course win on fast ground in June and has remained in good form since; may not be ideally suited by today's drop back to 2m4f but still considered each-way.
3rd (8) Blended Stealth
7Sean QuinlanLizzie QuinlanWent close here (3m, good) in July and also ran well when third at Cartmel (3m1f, heavy) last month but was disappointing favourite here 16 days ago and is now 0-25 over hurdles; visor refitted today.
(3) One Step Up
6Sam ColtherdStuart ColtherdWell beaten over C&D (soft) on stable debut in April but fared much better when clear second over 2m here (good to firm) in June and is a contender if coping with today's move back up in trip.
(5) Inspector Lynley
7James BowenNeil MulhollandOff the mark over hurdles at 12th attempt, digging deep to regain lead on run-in at Stratford (2m6f, good) in July; 4lb rise demands a bit more from him here but further progress is not out of the question.
1st (4) Limerick Leader
7Sean BowenOlly MurphyPulled up in a chase when warm favourite for stable debut in June and just a respectable fourth when back over hurdles at Worcester (2m4f, good) this month; very well handicapped on some of his form for Rose Dobbin, though, and may yet come good for Olly Murphy; cheekpieces refitted.

A few of these have possibilities but the suggestion is ONE STEP UP, who left his disappointing stable debut a long way behind when second over 2m here in June and still has fairly low mileage. Limerick Leader has not yet clicked for his new stable but may do so soon and is feared most. Inspector Lynley could plausibly build upon his Stratford success and is next on the list.[Chris Wilson]
