2nd (12) Portoro
4Dylan HoganMartin DunneTongue tied and posted his best effort of 2024 when second of 12 in 1m2f Leicester handicap in May; off since but he has won off a break, so needs considering.
(10) Takeover Target
3J F EganPat PhelanModest maiden who signed off for Tom Dascombe with a solid third of ten in 1m1f Lingfield handicap in May; changed hands for 3,2000gns in June and he's no forlorn hope for his new yard after a break with blinkers replacing the usual cheekpieces.
(3) Celtic John
3Kieran O'NeillPat PhelanModest maiden who wasn't disgraced on his handicap debut when eighth at Lingfield (1m) 15 days ago; he needs to build on it now.
(13) Purple Poppy
6Sam HitchcottJimmy FoxIt's now 15 starts since her last success but she comes here in good order, third of eight in 6f Lingfield handicap 15 days ago; she ought to be in the shake-up.
3rd (8) Grecian God
3George BassMark UsherGot off the mark at Wolverhampton (7f, AW) in August and not seen to best effect when only ninth in similar event there 16 days ago, racing wide throughout from a high draw; well worth another chance.
4th (5) Zinchenko
3Rob HornbyJonathan PortmanArrives in decent nick without winning, fifth of seven in 7f Lingfield handicap three weeks ago; possibilities off a 2lb lower mark now.
(7) Katie G
3Rossa RyanEd DunlopA two-time 6f AW scorer in 2024 who recorded a solid fourth of seven in 6f Lingfield handicap 11 days ago; ought to be thereabouts again despite her high draw.
(2) Faster Bee
3Taryn LangleyRichard HughesYet to register a win but he had cheekpieces fitted for the first time when a good third of six in 7f AW Lingfield handicap two weeks ago; one for the shortlist with the headgear retained.
(6) Mizuumi
3Benoit De La SayetteMarco BottiWinless since debut but comes here on the back of a good third of seven in 7f Lingfield handicap three weeks ago; can make her presence felt again.
(11) Help Me Rhonda
3Daniel MuscuttJames FanshaweFair ex-Irish maiden; hooded and made an encouraging start for her new yard after ten weeks off when sixth of ten in 7f Wolverhampton handicap 16 days ago; she remains with few miles on the clock, so merits serious consideration on her Polytrack debut for last year's winning connections.
(4) Eight Mile
4Liam WrightGeorge ScottA three-time scorer in 2023 who is knocking on the door again, not enjoying the clearest of passages when second of eight in 7f Lingfield handicap 15 days ago; another bold show is on the cards nudged up 1lb.
1st (1) God Bless America
3George DowningEve Johnson HoughtonReliable sort who posted a solid fourth of 13 in 7f Southwell handicap 30 days ago; not ruled out in his bid for a breakthrough success.

This is wide open but James Fanshawe's recruit HELP ME RHONDA is taken to build on her encouraging Wolverhampton sixth to get off the mark on this second start for her in-form yard. Eight Mile heads the list of dangers on the back of his good Lingfield second, although Mizuumi, Grecian God and Purple Poppy need factoring in too.[Peter Entwistle]

2Rob HornbyEdward Smyth-Osbourne66-1 and offered little in the way of short-term promise over C&D 19 days ago.
4th (5) Orchard
2Ethan JonesWarren GreatrexSecond run was better than his low-key debut but he'll need more in this field and handicaps more likely to be his thing after this.
3rd (3) Gallivanted
2Neil CallanTom CloverFinished behind a couple of today's rivals at Windsor three weeks ago; improvement a must if he's to feature.
(10) Bellator Bullet
2Kieran O'NeillAlice HaynesIn need of the experience on his Redcar debut in July (7f, good) but ran well for second of the 11 runners; took a backward step at Yarmouth last month though and the addition of a tongue-tie isn't enough to tempt.
(11) Made The Cut
2Grace McEnteeGeorge BougheyHer two recent runs at Newmarket and Newcastle haven't been devoid of promise but others have achieved more and she may find life easier once handicapping.
1st (1) Dividend
2Rossa RyanDr Richard Newland & Jamie InsoleSprung a 50-1 surprise at Sandown on his second start (7f, good to firm); no impact in an Ascot Listed race or a nursery at the Ebor meeting since; back into calmer waters this time and there is encouragement for this trip on breeding.
(2) Neardown
2Saffie OsborneJamie OsbornePicked up best off a steady pace to win a 7.5f newcomers' maiden at Chester last month; the beaten horses haven't done much for the form since but he could do no more than win cosily and he's not discounted under a penalty.
2nd (4) Grecian Legacy
2Richard KingscoteDaniel & Claire KublerRunner-up in two 7f starts this summer, failing to build on his promising debut at Doncaster when beaten over 5l at Catterick seven weeks ago; new trip may help and the form of his stable is a positive.
(6) Sea Founder
2Finley MarshRichard HughesWell beaten on his Ascot debut in July, after which he was gelded; much more encouragement when fifth of 11 at Windsor three weeks ago, keeping on steadily and not far behind Special Ghaiyyath at the finish; still open to plenty of improvement.
(8) Special Ghaiyyath
2William BuickCharlie JohnstonPromise when fourth at Newcastle (7f) on debut and again when second of 11 at Windsor (1m, good to firm) three weeks ago; he was well positioned on that occasion and although he sets the standard on RPR, he may need to improve again to go one better.

This is easier than the races Dividend has tackled the last twice and he can go well, while Neardown can't be knocked for a winning debut, even if those in behind haven't franked the form. Grecian Legacy may improve for 1m but the key race may be the Windsor novice in which Special Ghaiyyath finished second and SEA FOUNDER fifth. Richard Hughes' representative can reverse the placings after shaping with conspicuous promise from off the pace.[Paul Smith]

2Benoit De La SayetteAmy MurphyLooked in need of the experience when sixth of ten, beaten 11l, in a fillies' maiden for newcomers at Lingfield three weeks ago (6f, AW); big step forward required.
(3) Avalon
2Saffie OsborneEd WalkerUnplaced in two fast-ground maidens this summer but has shown ability; improvement required now switched to AW.
(8) Olympic Melody
2Darragh KeenanRae Guest50-1 for her debut at Lingfield (6f, AW) three weeks ago, showing some promise (caught wide early) in finishing fourth of the ten runners; needs much more to take this.
4th (4) Bintjan
2Daniel MuscuttKevin Philippart De Foy300,000gns yearling; dam French 1m-1m2f winner (including Listed), half-sister to useful 7f 2yo/1m winner Mitraad; interesting on paper but stable's 2yos have had a quiet year and this one might need further than 6f in time.
3rd (5) Chiringita
2Jamie SpencerDavid SimcockFinished the thick end of 5l behind Magical Trail on her Newmarket debut last month (7f, good); 7lb better off but the drop to 6f isn't sure to suit on pedigree.
(10) Sunshine Soul
2Sean LeveyGeorge BougheyBelow par on slow ground on second start but her other three runs have all been solid; should run her race but vulnerable to improvers.
(9) Speaktotheguvnor
2Richard KingscoteClive CoxThird of ten, beaten 1l, on her Newbury debut four weeks ago (6f, good to firm), making the running and only headed inside the final half furlong; should be in the thick of it once again.
2nd (6) Jettie's Run
2Rossa RyanRalph Beckett200,000gns yearling; first foal of a useful 5f/5.5f winner in the US (RPR 100); stable in fine form and she's a newcomer of some interest, especially if backed.
1st (1) Magical Trail
2William BuickCharlie ApplebyIt didn't look a vintage Newmarket novice that she won on her debut last month (7f, good) but she was a comfortable winner and the subsequent victories of the third, sixth and seventh give the form ballast; can improve for the initial experience, dropping to 6f should be fine and she's up to defying a penalty.

Speaktotheguvnor showed enough on her debut to think she would be winning races sooner rather than later, while Bintjan, and especially Jettie's Run, are newcomers of note. MAGICAL TRAIL looked promising when winning at Newmarket last month though and she's taken to defy her penalty.[Paul Smith]

3rd (9) Perfect Dark
2Benoit De La SayetteKevin Philippart De FoyPulled hard on her Haydock debut in July (6f, good), weakening to finish last of the five runners (beaten over 12l); big step forward required.
(10) Up The Budget
2Sam GarciaJack JonesLow-level form in two fast-ground maidens this summer; easy enough to swerve.
4th (5) Montrachet Girl
2Charles BishopEve Johnson HoughtonRan well at Newbury on her second start (6f, good) but couldn't back it up at the same track last month (pulled hard through the early stages); now tried in a hood; not entirely convincing but there is ability there.
(6) Nuptown Girl
2Hollie DoyleCharles Hills£105,000 yearling; half-sister to winners Lawful Command (7f-1m; RPR 98) and Electric Blue (5f-7f); dam a 1m winner; stable having a quiet year, especially with 2yos (3-60) and likely best watched on debut.
(8) Ornately
2Cieren FallonWilliam HaggasGood pedigree but she dropped away in a maiden (7f, soft) at Newbury three weeks ago having been far too free in the early stages of the race; should have learned something from that and could prove a different proposition.
(1) Spirited Dancer
2Sean LeveyJack ChannonRan well over 5f on debut here in April; wide-margin win at Bath in May (5.5f, good) before finding Listed company too hot to handle eight days later; absent since a modest effort in a Windsor nursery nine weeks ago; penalised and needs the cheekpieces to revitalise her.
2nd (2) Angelica Bay
2Rossa RyanOllie SangsterNo surprise she found Group 3 company too hot last month but this is much more manageable and she ran well in her first two starts; should make a bold bid.
1st (7) Orchid
2William BuickGeorge BougheyGood second of nine here on her debut last month (7f), forcing a well-touted newcomer to work hard; made a complete hash of the start at Leicester two weeks ago and that run can be excused; not easy to support her on the back of that stalls misdemeanour though.

The weaker of the two divisions and solid options are thin on the ground. Spirited Dancer and Angelica Bay have form claims on their best, while Orchid ran well here on debut but then completely fluffed the start last time. Ornately pulled too hard on slow ground on debut and could leave that effort miles behind her but MONTRACHET GIRL is tentatively preferred. She ran well on her second start and last time can be forgiven having over-raced early. A hood might get her back on track.[Paul Smith]

(8) Sweet Sister
3George BassDenis CoakleyYet to build on her minor novice promise in three handicap runs; stepping up in trip not enough to tempt.
(1) Flag Carrier
3J F EganBrian ToomeyHas shown he can be competitive off this mark and three of his top four RPRs, including his only win, have come at this track; failed to fire here three weeks ago, however, and he's now upped 3f in distance; risky.
(7) Tactical Control
3Luke CattonB F BrookhouseCouldn't land a blow in the Leger Legends race at Doncaster ten days ago but he had won at Salisbury on his previous start; stamina still not proven.
2nd (6) Beach Point
3Marco GhianiWilliam KnightTwo turf wins (1m and 1m2f) this summer; not far off his best when second of ten in an 8.6f handicap at Wolverhampton three weeks ago; up in trip and needs more for it.
4th (3) Old Saxony
3Jamie SpencerDavid SimcockNo improvement for the switch to handicaps as yet, including dropped into a Class 5 at Southwell three weeks ago; dropping down the weights and his novice runs do offer hope of better at some point.
1st (2) Hunters Run
3Finley MarshRichard HughesSignificant improvement for the step up to 1m2f at Lingfield 11 days ago, powering home to win decisively; that was just his fifth start and he's open to further progress, especially over today's extra furlong; 6lb rise manageable; strong claims.

Old Saxony is likely to come good at some point but this looks best left to HUNTERS RUN (nap), who created a positive impression at Lingfield 11 days ago and who has more to come over the longer trip. Beach Point and Versatile are best of the rest.[Paul Smith]

4th (4) Liseo
5Harry DaviesSimon & Ed CrisfordNot far behind Ludo's Landing at Beverley before a poor show at Epsom (soft); now 0-13 on turf but he's 3-12 on the AW and that includes a C&D success; nothing wrong with his mark.
(5) Polling Day
6Hollie DoyleArchie WatsonTwo AW wins at Lingfield (1m2f/1m4f) for the Gosdens in 2021; has dropped to an appealing Flat mark and has been placed over hurdles this summer; hard to dismiss.
(7) Melek Alreeh
5Daniel MuscuttDavid SimcockWon at Southwell (1m4f, AW) in March but has been laboured since then on turf; made a noise last time and probably one to watch back from a break.
2nd (11) Sonnerie Power
5Cieren FallonMichael ApplebyWon over 1m4f here last October when 7lb higher and he's been right on the scene in his last three races, all at 1m4f; this sharper test might not be ideal and the hood is left off, but still considered.
(9) Graignes
8Charles BishopGeorge BakerHas slipped to a good mark but has looked on the downgrade this year and others have more persuasive claims.
1st (6) Ludo's Landing
4Neil CallanCharlie JohnstonPuzzling run when tailed off at Doncaster but had been reliable this year and never better than when winning at Beverley the run before; 0-11 on the AW but placed plenty of times.
(3) Way Of Life
6Rob HornbyJonathan PortmanAnother competitive run when close up over 1m4f three weeks ago but the losing run rolls on; inconsistency has crept into his game.
(8) Aikhal
5Saffie OsborneJamie OsborneCapable on his day but it was over 1m6f when going close at Sandown in July and his AW figures are inferior to what he's achieved on turf.
(10) The Whipmaster
6Tom QueallyGary & Josh MooreOnly recently returned from wind surgery and under positive rides has finished close up at Lingfield (1m4f AW) and Windsor (1m3.5f); had no excuses either time but he's unlikely to be far away.
(12) Roost
4Rossa RyanRalph BeckettFinished well for a close third on only his third AW run over 1m4f here 19 days ago (Sonnerie Power runner-up); could do with snapping the habit of starting slowly and the visor may help in that respect.
(2) High Fibre
5Jamie SpencerHarry FryVery lightly raced since winning a 1m1f Newmarket handicap for Ralph Beckett in 2021; caught the eye on return at Newbury (1m2f, good; first-time tongue-tie, retained) and a valuable handicap at York next time didn't go to plan; AW debut but he's interesting after wind surgery.

This may go to THE WHIPMASTER who has returned from wind surgery with two near misses and he should get a nice tow into this race from Graignes, who is drawn next door and often front runs. High Fibre is one to be interested in, though whether this track will play to his strengths is debatable. Sonnerie Power is solid and second choice.[Alistair Jones]

(2) Wallop
4Sean LeveyRichard HannonUseful 2yo; won a 6f maiden here on his 3yo reappearance but absent for a year afterwards; the handicapper has been in total command this season and hopes rest on the addition of blinkers arresting the slide.
(6) Pumalin Park
4Joe LeavySir Michael StouteOnly 2lb higher than for his Salisbury win (7f, good to firm) in July; held his form since and he has the assistance of a useful claimer in the saddle; each-way shout.
(8) Follow Your Heart
6Daniel MuscuttMark LoughnaneDropping in the weights but with some justification; will no doubt come good again at some point but perhaps in less-demanding company than this.
(3) Giant
4Neil CallanRichard SpencerMade all to win a C&D handicap on his seasonal return in March; up and down since then and a career best will be required if he is to come out on top.
(11) Tsunami Spirit
3Saffie OsborneEd WalkerCampaigned over sprint trips for former yard, winning over 6f here 11 months ago; in and out this year but he's been gelded since last seen and starts out for Ed Walker off a reduced mark; stamina the unknown.
1st (4) Piz Nair
3Liam WrightGeorge ScottTwo 6f wins, the second on Polytrack off a 4lb lower mark; some of his placed form since reads well and a lesser effort last time can be excused as the undulations of Epsom looked an issue; should get a good pace to aim at and he holds each-way claims.
(12) Arctician
6Hollie DoyleSimon DowConditions to suit and he's now 2lb lower than when landing a Class 5 over C&D in June; not the most solid option but still likely to outrun his odds.
2nd (9) North View
3Richard KingscotePeter Chapple-HyamLightly raced 3yo; good second over C&D on only previous AW run; comes here on the back of a win in a 16-runner handicap at Newbury, making up significant ground in the closing stages (blinkered first time); can't believe a 4lb rise will prove beyond him but he will need them to go hard early.
3rd (1) Mezzo Soprano
4Harry DaviesSimon & Ed CrisfordUnbeaten in three runs as a 3yo, including a C&D handicap off 8lb lower; beaten favourite in all three runs this year but she's run to a useful level and can feature prominently once again.
(5) Revolutionise
8Marco GhianiStuart WilliamsExploited his lowly turf mark at Brighton three weeks ago (7f, good to firm); not hopelessly treated on AW now but he has no secrets and others could prove stronger.
4th (10) So Quiet
3Rossa RyanHarry CharltonWon a C&D novice in March; creditable second at Lingfield (7f, good) when last seen in June; now 1lb higher and further progress is required.

An intriguing race. NORTH VIEW isn't guaranteed to get the end-to-end gallop that saw him record such a stylish win at Newbury last month but it's hard to believe that a 4lb rise is beyond him on that evidence. There are front-runners on show and in the hope that they don't crawl he's fancied to follow up. Pumalin Park (second choice), Piz Nair and Mezzo Soprano head the dangers but don't be surprised if Arctician outruns his odds.[Paul Smith]

(9) Art Fantastique
3Sean LeveyTom WardCame good switched to nurseries last summer, winning 6f events at Windsor and Brighton; attracted some support at Salisbury on his recent return from ten months off but looked rusty and his minor late progress wasn't sufficient to earn him the vote here.

3Cieren FallonRonald HarrisC&D win in February and added a Salisbury handicap to her tally in June; as good as ever when second at Chepstow and Salisbury the last twice but she'll need more to take this.

(1) The Real McKay
3Marco GhianiIvan FurtadoShe's done well since switched to handicaps, winning over 6f at Southwell in March and C&D last month; only tenth at Newcastle two weeks ago but that was a stronger race and she didn't get chance to show what she could do as she saw no daylight from over 1f out; major player back down in class.
(8) Nelson Rose
3Daniel MuscuttAdam WestWon two of her last three starts, both from the front at Brighton on fast turf (6f); 0-6 on AW but has shown promise on Polytrack; another bold bid expected.
4th (6) Port Hedland
3Trevor WhelanHenry CandyHas hinted at better but he's been beaten as favourite the last twice and he checked out tamely at Salisbury 12 days ago, notwithstanding he didn't get the cleanest run; something to prove for now.
(7) Crafty Spirit
3Rossa RyanClive CoxWell backed when making a winning handicap debut over C&D in May (beat Bint Havana Gold by a neck and now 6lb worse off); consistent rather than progressive since and hopes pinned on last month's gelding operation prompting improvement.

A low-grade handicap but it looks trappy. First Company (second choice) should appreciate the return to this track and he's lurking on a dangerous mark, while Nelson Rose comes here on the up, Crafty Spirit could benefit from having been gelded and Bint Havana Gold and Moe's Legacy are also plausible contenders. THE REAL MCKAY's latest Newcastle run is easy to excuse though and she can resume her progress back down into a Class 6.[Paul Smith]
