(6) Sonnet Star
4Molly GunnStuart KittowStill a maiden after ten races but there's been some respite from the handicapper and she was second of five on heavy going at Ffos Las (1m4f) on latest outing; ability to handle deep ground could be crucial.
(3) Kehlani
4Dominique Van Der KraatsKevin Philippart De Foy0-10 in handicaps and the promise of her seasonal/stable debut has not been fulfilled in her two starts since, favourite on latest; 5lb claimer is enlisted and the cheekpieces (worn on last seven starts) are replaced by first-time blinkers; unraced on worse than good to soft.
(7) Dandy's Angel
7Tom Kiely-MarshallJohn WainwrightActs on any ground, winner twice on heavy last year; five of her seven wins have been at Beverley; not so good in a busy 2024 and her latest start was just three days ago, but she's shown enough to have a major shout.
(1) Kamanika
4Ethan JonesJoseph ParrFour 1m2f wins (three on soft) in 2023 but she ran moderately last year on both races on heavy; not seen this year until August and uncompetitive both starts, with minimal response from the handicapper, so others are preferred.
(2) Bushfire
5Taryn LangleyGemma TuttyHis last win was in September 2023 off 5lb higher; two places before a lesser show at Chester six days ago, but he acts on heavy; considered.
(4) Susiesparkle
4Archie YoungIain Jardine12th race when she made the breakthrough with a smooth win in 15-runner apprentice handicap at Thirsk last Monday on stable debut; unpenalised at Hamilton (again 1m4f on good to soft) on Sunday but was short-headed by a progressive sort; has 5lb penalty this time and she was tailed off last autumn in three Irish runs on heavy going, but she has to be considered seriously.
(5) Laudable
4Sam FeildenTristan DavidsonWon classifieds over 1m2f at Ayr (good to soft) and Ripon (good) before making it three in a row when asserting in a 1m4f handicap at Catterick (soft) this month; ran well under a penalty at Musselburgh 12 days ago; below form sole start on heavy but that was last year in Ireland and he's turned a corner this term.

His winning sequence ended 12 days ago but that was another good run from LAUDABLE whose soft-ground win the time before also gives plenty of encouragement. Susiesparkle clicked straightaway for her new connections with two runs and nearly two wins last week, so perhaps her three performances on heavy ground in Ireland last autumn (all defeats by at least 30l) will be consigned to history. However, proven ability in the mud means that Dandy's Angel (who ran just three days ago) is feared more.[Richard Austen]

(6) Teenage Daydream
2Pierre-Louis JaminDr Richard Newland & Jamie InsoleWell held in both her runs (7f/6f), with a best RPR of 43; hood is now added and has stacks to find back up in trip.
(3) Siena's Star
2David ProbertAndrew Balding70,000gns foal, 130,000gns yearling; by Churchill; closely related to winners Timeless Charm (1m AW 2yo; RPR 84) and Prosecco (1m2f; 80); dam tough 1m2f-1m4f winner (including Listed; 109), half-sister to two AW winners (1m3f/1m4f); interesting newcomer and she needs watching in market.
(2) Maldevious
2Jonny PeateHugo PalmerTook a step forward from her debut run (6f, good) when a rallying fourth at Newbury (6f, good) last month; needs to find more progress but this step up to 7f looks a good move and she has a soft-ground winner on dam's side; withdrawn after getting upset in stalls at Chester two weeks ago and was 9-2 at the time.
(5) Supermodel
2Cieren FallonWilliam Haggas150,000gns yearling; fourth foal; Night Of Thunder half-sister to winners Night Battle (1m/1m2f; RPR 93) and Startup Mentality (US Graded stakes-placed 8.5f turf); dam unraced sister to 1m2f 2yo Group 1 winner Passage Of Time, half-sister to 1m Group 1 winner Timepiece; has a striking pedigree and she needs a close look on debut.
(1) Ryka
2David NolanDavid O'Meara105,000gns Night Of Thunder filly; made a good start when beating a clear second at Thirsk (7f, good to firm; 100-30) in July and she had a tough assignment when last of seven in Group 3 at Goodwood (7f, soft) last month; back in much calmer waters now and she's a key player on her initial form.
(4) Storm Lady
2Oisin OrrRichard Fahey160,000euros breeze-up 2yo; ran green when 22-1 at Leicester (7f, soft) 17 days ago but she rallied well to finish a 4l third behind an odds-on rival; that was a promising start and she should know much more this time; respected.

Thirsk winner Ryka had a tough task in a Group 3 at Goodwood last month and is respected back in much calmer waters. Maldevious rallied well when fourth at Newbury and is open to more progress on this step up in trip, while the well-bred newcomers Supermodel and Siena's Star need a close look in the market. However, the vote goes to STORM LADY, who showed plenty of promise with her debut third at Leicester and should know much more this time.[David Moon]

(1) Nineteen Fourtytwo
2David EganK R Burke25,000euros yearling, 140,000gns breeze-up 2yo; fourth foal; Footstepsinthesand half-brother to winners Star Galaxy (1m1f; RPR 96), War Horse (7f-1m2f including 2yo/Singapore; 95) and Orderofthephoenix (7f AW 2yo; 84); unraced dam out of French Listed-placed 1m 2yo winner; yard 20% with 2yos this season and he needs a close look on debut.
(3) Top Bins
2David ProbertHugo PalmerNever involved after missing the break on his Chester debut (6f, heavy; 11-4) two weeks ago but he made some promising late headway into third; should be more streetwise this time and he looks a likely improver on his second start; respected.
(4) Nardra
2Cieren FallonWilliam Haggas440,000gns yearling; third foal; Night Of Thunder half-sister to 7f/1m winner Make Me King (including 2yo/Group 3; RPR 116); dam 6f/7f 2yo winner (including Listed; 103), half-sister to 6f 2yo Group 1 winner The Wow Signal and Japanese 1m2f Grade 3 winner Unicorn Lion; lots to like on paper and he's an interesting newcomer.

Hugo Palmer has two interesting contenders in Top Bins, who showed clear promise with his debut third at Chester, and Sweet Fantastic, who has speed and stamina in his pedigree and is a half-brother to two useful winners. Karl Burke's Nineteen Fourtytwo also looks the part on paper but the vote goes to another newcomer in NARDRA, who cost 440,000gns as a yearling and is out of a half-sister to a 6f Group 1 juvenile winner.[David Moon]

(6) Jm Jhingree
2Duran FentimanJohn & Sean QuinnSecond and third runs were positive but now looking exposed after heavy defeats in 5f nurseries the last twice, latterly well behind Teej A at Chester; 2lb out of the weights.
(5) Up The Clarets
2Andrew MullenIain Jardine0-7 since his winning debut and didn't offer much in a nursery last week at Ayr; 4lb lower in future; tries cheekpieces.
(2) Teej A
2Pierre-Louis JaminK R BurkeWon the Woodcote at Epsom's Derby meeting (6f, good to soft); struggled afterwards but back on track with a near miss off 3lb lower at Chester (5f, soft); that was a Class 4 and this is a Class 2, so likely to need more.
(4) Nad Alshiba Green
2Frederick LarsonMichael ApplebyHas won two of her three nurseries and had a bit in hand last time at Sandown (5f, good); up 5lb and ground this soft will be a first, but she's nicely progressive.
(3) King Of Light
2Sam JamesK R BurkeAll runs over 5f on good or faster ground; won his first race after being gelded and easily his best form yet when close up in a Listed race last week at Ayr; runs here off an untouched mark before the 8lb rise kicks in so hard to beat if handling the ground.
(1) Francisco's Piece
2Connor BeasleyAdrian Paul KeatleyThe ground was heavy when he took a noticeable step forward in winning a French 5f Listed race and hasn't looked as happy on good to firm in his subsequent Group-race assignments; tough mark for nursery debut but there will be no other excuses.

This looks all about whether King Of Light will handle this softer ground as he's 8lb well-in following his improved form in a Listed race last week at Ayr. One who will absolutely relish the conditions is FRANCISCO'S PIECE who hasn't had this ground since winning a Listed race in France. Teej A and Nad Alshiba Green ran well last time but are up in grade.[Alistair Jones]

(1) Spaceport
3Richard KingscoteWilliam Muir & Chris GrassickActs on good to soft, withdrawn last week when the ground was heavy; second win this season came when upped to 1m6f at Sandown in July, drawing clear again in the final 1f; those front-running tactics did not work out in the Melrose at York (tailed off) and he was well beaten over C&D three weeks ago, so may have gone off the boil.
(2) Walter Hartright
3David EganEd DunlopRaces prominently and can make the running; much improved since blinkered, completing a four-timer in June/July before two good seconds and a creditable sixth in warm C&D race on latest outing (behind Filibustering); his only runs on worse than good to soft were last October at start of career (well beaten) so there is something to prove in the mud.
(5) Calvert
3David ProbertRoger TealBest effort this term when upped to 1m6f for a front-running second of five at Newmarket (soft; unraced on heavy) last time; shortlisted.
(3) Hot Fuss
3Pierre-Louis JaminTom DascombeGoes well on soft, as shown again on penultimate start in particular, and he ran respectably on reappearance on his only race on heavy ground; stamina poses a big question, though, as he's never been beyond 1m2f.
(6) Minstrel Knight
3Aidan KeeleyEdward BethellShowed promise on sole run on soft (unraced on heavy); won at Carlisle in June and he's been second or third in his other four handicaps, over 1m4f on last two occasions; despite pedigree, he now shapes as if 1m6f may be within reach, so he also needs a second look.
(4) Sam Hawkens
3Cieren FallonWilliam HaggasWon four-runner maiden at Salisbury (1m4f, heavy) in May; better form in defeat on good or good to firm in his three starts since, sold out of Richard Hannon's for 105,000gns before an encouraging run in Shergar Cup race at Ascot on latest; today's trip and ground could help him to build on that.
(7) Filibustering
3Duran FentimanTim EasterbyGoes well on soft, unraced on heavy; running with consistent credit in handicaps, the exception when 20-1 in a Class 2; showed twice in August that he stays 2m and he was denied a proper chance to show what he could do back at 1m6f when meeting trouble in running in warm C&D race three weeks ago (still beat Walter Hartright and Spaceport); one to note in a likely slog.

Strength in stamina may see FILIBUSTERING (nap) home in front this time, after traffic problems prevented him from having a proper crack at a valuable C&D handicap three weeks ago. He is unraced on heavy ground but won by 9l in May on the last occasion he encountered soft. Sam Hawkens, a heavy-ground maiden winner, is feared most on his second run for William Haggas, but Calvert and Minstrel Knight also need plenty of respect.[Richard Austen]

(7) Hardy Bloke
7Ben RobinsonBrian EllisonSole win for Emmet Mullins in Ireland came in a 3m novice hurdle on heavy ground in March 2023 (the last of his five runs in cheekpieces); no impact in his six races for new yard, switched to Flat for the last four and tailed off over C&D last time on Flat handicap debut; cheekpieces return.
(6) Arctic Fox
8David NolanMartin TodhunterActs on soft, unraced on heavy; her last two wins were at this track and the latest over C&D but they were in summer 2022; close fourth of eight at Thirsk (1m4f) in July on latest start gives some renewed hope.
(1) Squeezebox
5Frederick LarsonMichael ApplebyActs on soft, probably on heavy; second here (1m4f) in May and never better than when winning at Southwell (1m4f, AW) on latest start; came from the back under Frederick Larson on both occasions and 1m6f now looks worth this first attempt.
(2) Surrey Belle
4David EganHughie MorrisonTook full advantage of an uncontested lead when bolting up at Kempton (AW) in July on first attempt over 2m; below form when brought out again quickly but her other six turf races (including on soft and heavy) also leave her with something to find.
(3) Hurtle Wallop
4Pat CosgraveJim BoyleSeven-race maiden who ran creditably in a hood over 1m6f on last three outings, staying on from well off the pace on soft at Goodwood on latest; cheekpieces replace the hood; player if they have no adverse effect.
(4) Billy No Mates
8Connor BeasleyMichael DodsHas become a rare winner but he's 3lb lower than when winning this race (soft) a year ago and also won it in 2020; probably acts on heavy and significant ability remains, so a repeat win is by no means out of the question.
(5) Givemefive
4David ProbertHarry DerhamOff the mark last September (11.6f) at tenth attempt on Flat for Johnny Murtagh; followed up last winter in first two starts over hurdles (both 2m, soft) for new yard, before two creditable runs in defeat; player if he's fit enough after 179 days off.

Billy No Mates bids to win this race for the third time but GIVEMEFIVE could prove too hot to handle on his reappearance after doing well in juvenile hurdles. There's a strong suspicion that a slog in the mud is just what Hurtle Wallop needs, so he is also shortlisted.[Richard Austen]

(9) Feel The Need
4Joanna MasonMichael HerringtonWon at York (7f, good to soft) in May before a good second there next time but his form cooled with a laboured effort in a Class 3 at Sandown last month; that was after a short break but this is another competitive event and he has some work to do.
(2) Son Of Man
3Pat CosgraveJim BoyleActs on most ground including heavy; bits of useful form over 7f for Jane Chapple-Hyam and left that trainer for 100,000gns in July; made a low-key start for new yard at Ascot (1m) but this drop back in trip looks a positive and he still has potential after only eight starts; not ruled out.
(3) Spirit Genie
4George WoodJennie CandlishMade it two wins in a row when scoring by a nose at Chester (7f, good to soft) in May but he's finished down the field in three subsequent runs; now drops back in grade but he's still 2lb higher than for his last win and others are preferred.
(6) Media Shooter
3Sam JamesK R BurkeHis first three wins were on AW but the latest was with cheekpieces added at Musselburgh (7f, good) last month; up 7lb but that was an emphatic success last time and he's a big player again if he can repeat that form back on slower ground.
(1) Yanifer
6Oisin McSweeneyHarriet BethellRecorded his eighth turf win when scoring at Chester (7f, good to soft) last month and was only beaten 2l when fifth of 13 in another Class 2 there (good) last time; has been as good as ever recently and he's respected on this drop back in grade.
(7) Thunder Roar
5Tom EavesTony Coyle & Kaine WoodThree 7f turf wins in the mud last year; started this season with three placed efforts (7f/1m) but he's been well held in last two runs (turf/AW); has something to prove after another short break and he needs to get back near best.
(5) Quest For Fun
6Sean KirraneTim EasterbyIdeally suited by good or slower ground and was a creditable second on heavy at Chester (7f) two weeks ago; nudged up 1lb for that but his last win was off a similar mark last autumn and he should go well again.
(8) King's Vanity
4David ProbertAndrew BaldingHas a patchy profile but he bounced back with a dominant display at Ffos Las (7.3f, heavy) four weeks ago; a 5lb rise looks fair enough but this is a big step back up in grade and he could have competition for the lead this time; others are more persuasive.
(4) Lexington Belle
3Kieran O'NeillAlice HaynesHit a personal best on her step back up to 7f when making all on soft at Newbury (12-1) three weeks ago; goes back up in grade off 4lb higher but she found plenty for pressure last time and still looks on a workable mark; respected.

A competitive race in which the vote goes to LEXINGTON BELLE, who was as good as ever with her front-running win on soft at Newbury last time and still looks feasibly treated off her revised mark. The in-form 6yo Yanifer is feared most on his drop back in grade, although Media Shooter won in good style in cheekpieces at Musselburgh last month and is a big player if he can repeat that form on this return to slower ground. Others to consider are Quest For Fun and Son Of Man.[David Moon]

(5) Boardman

(9) Myal
3Cieren FallonSteph HollinsheadProgressive 3yo who made it 2-3 in handicaps when completing a double at Carlisle (7f, soft) 16 days ago; up another 7lb but that was a stylish win and he still looks feasibly treated; interesting contender back at the scene of his first success.
(8) Flight Radar
3Pierre-Louis JaminK R BurkeUnexposed 3yo who won a Redcar maiden (7f, good) in July before an easy win in four-runner novice at Catterick last month; this is a different test in a competitive handicap but his opening mark looks fair and he still has plenty of potential; strongly respected.

Several have possibilities but the two at the top of the list are the 3yo hat-trick seekers Flight Radar and MYAL. The former has had only three runs and looks on a fair opening mark, but preference is for Myal, who made it 2-3 in handicaps with his stylish win on soft at Carlisle two weeks ago. Third choice is recent Ascot winner Lord Bertie, although Way To Dubai looks interesting on his step back up in trip and Wobwobwob also enters the reckoning.[David Moon]
