The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Having found only a promising sort too strong on his timber bow at Wetherby last month, LOST FREQUENCIES looks ready to open his account in this discipline. The Stuart Coltherd-trained five-year-old has a bright future himself and he edges the verdict over Young Getaway, who offered plenty to work with on his third-placed timber debut at Ayr and a similar performance is likely to see him involved. Dedicated Hero completes the shortlist.
LOST FREQUENCIES made an encouraging debut in this sphere when runner-up in what was quite a valuable race of its type at Wetherby 3 weeks ago and looks the one to beat. Dedicated Hero and Young Getaway also made a promising start over hurdles and are others to consider.
Few should count. LOST FREQUENCIES made light work of a good horse in his bumper and it was a solid start over hurdles at Wetherby.

Satisfactory hurdles debut in spite of his jumping at Punchestown last month; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (18) (200/1 -100%) Pomeriggio |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
It might be worth taking a chance on YOU DONE WELL in this wide-open contest. Beaten by just a neck on his debut over flights at Gowran in October, he since finished a respectable sixth of 21 at Punchestown, with subsequent Grade 3 winner Naturally Nimble a place behind. Second in that Punchestown contest, Lakota Blue is sure to have plenty of supporters in his bid to go a place better, while Flat recruit Nans View is of definite interest on her first try over flights. One of three Joseph O'Brien-trained representatives, Turn And Finish is the second choice. Given a lot to do when runner-up on his most recent start, it'll come as no surprise if he manages to go a place better now. A winner on the all-weather in France, Tremaine warrants respect with Danny Mullins aboard, while Puturhandstogether, Doctor Confusion and Babich are others for the shortlist.
LAKOTA BLUE was second to another highly promising type on hurdling debut and should be able to go one better even without the anticipated improvement. Turn and Finish looks the main threat ahead of Puturhandstogether.
The one to beat is LAKOTA BRAVE after his excellent second in a competitive Punchestown maiden with more improvement likely

1st (3) (2/9 +33%) Clotilda |
2/9(+33%) | (3) Clotilda 2/9, A fairly useful maiden hurdler/chaser in France. Changed hands for €100,000 in September and very much the one to beat for her new yard. 0-8 in France but has shown enough ability to warrant respect on British debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 -56%) Knight Templar |
7/2(-56%) | (1) Knight Templar 7/2, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 16.5f), recorded hat-trick for this yard in second half of 2024, again ran well last time. Should be up to making his mark over hurdles. Has form figures of 1113 on the Flat for new yard; could do well in juvenile hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (100/1 +0%) You And Whose Army |
100/1(+0%) | (2) You And Whose Army 100/1, Half-brother to dual bumper winner Arthur's Seat (by Champs Elysees), stayed 27f over hurdles, dam half-sister to useful hurdler (stayed 3m) Jorobaden. Tailed-off last in maiden/minor event on Flat for J. S. Moore and also pulled up on hurdles debut last week. Has easily the worst chance on form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Knight Templar is a fair performer on the level and it will be interesting to see how he fares on his first start over hurdles, but he might be up against it taking on CLOTILDA. Paul Nicholls' three-year-old showed a fair amount of ability in his eight starts in France before changing hands for 100,000-euros in September. He is rated 127 coming into this weak event and can open his account. You And Whose Army faces a tall order and may struggle to land a blow.
CLOTILDA can call upon plenty of jumps experience in France and having transferred to Paul Nicholls, she should get off the mark in receipt of weight from Knight Templar.
Ex-French CLOTILDA remains a maiden but has shown that she can jump well and this race is weak. Knight Templar is the danger.

1st (2) (2/1 +60%) Cracking Rhapsody |
2/1(+60%) | (2) Cracking Rhapsody 2/1, Big improver in handicaps earlier in the year, winning twice over C&D (including the Morebattle) and excellent third of 15 in the Scottish Champion Hurdle on final start. Respectable effort on Hexham reappearance before finding the Greatwood too much 3 weeks ago. This much easier. Last season went well; positive comeback run before outclassed in the Greatwood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/2 +17%) Old Gregorian |
5/2(+17%) | (5) Old Gregorian 5/2, Gained first 2 career wins over this C&D and improved again when successful in ready fashion at Wetherby 3 weeks ago. Hit with 8 lb rise but he's clearly thriving. Raised 8lb for his clearcut Wetherby win but looks a 5yo on a sharp upward curve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (12/1 -9%) Mack The Man |
12/1(-9%) | (6) Mack The Man 12/1, Reacted well to a visor with wins at Musselburgh and Perth in the spring and he displayed a willing attitude when adding to tally after 5 months off at Ayr. Rising 11 but clearly retains plenty of enthusiasm. Won't be fazed by this rise in class and he's been rated higher in the past.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +0%) Ginger Mail |
10/1(+0%) | (4) Ginger Mail 10/1, Consistent type who resumed winning ways over C&D in January. Posted another very good effort when runner-up to Cracking Rhapsody in Morebattle Hurdle a couple of months later but was a long way behind that rival when well held at Ayr in April. Off since. Last season was a good one on the whole and he returns on a competitive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (7/2 +22%) Cannock Park |
7/2(+22%) | (3) Cannock Park 7/2, Point winner who landed a Bangor bumper and Cheltenham maiden hurdle last autumn before placed twice in Graded novice hurdles. Failed to meet expectations sent chasing this term but mark has dropped and he's interesting returned to timber fitted with cheekpieces. Hasn't appeared to fancy fences this season but he was a good novice hurdler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (100/1 -150%) Magnolia |
100/1(-150%) | (10) Magnolia 100/1, Fair hurdler at best, won handicap at Fontainebleau in 2023/24. Well below form in 17-runner similar event at Auteuil in June and having left D. Satalia, this is no easy task from out of the weights. Record of 1-17 in France, winning over hurdles and having three runs over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (16/1 -33%) Cuban Cigar |
16/1(-33%) | (8) Cuban Cigar 16/1, Successful at Musselburgh a year ago and, after a below-par effort next time, has generally held form since, albeit in lesser handicaps than this one. Cheekpieces the headgear of choice this time. Capable of a bold show if refreshed from a break; return of cheekpieces no bad thing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (33/1 -408%) Horn Cape |
33/1(-408%) | (1) Horn Cape 33/1, Has thrived since returning to hurdles, winning 2 of his last 3 outings last term (only beaten by the progressive Brentford Hope in between). Up 6 lb and produced another cracker when second at Hexham in May. Raised further 4 lb on return so little margin for error. Another career best when nailed on the line at Hexham in May; definite contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (18/1 -29%) Bringbackmemories |
18/1(-29%) | (7) Bringbackmemories 18/1, Scored 4 times on the Flat in 2024 but ridden with more restraint back hurdling and could never land a blow at Carlisle 3 weeks ago. Expected to build on that. Shaped quite well back jumping at Carlisle but this does look a stronger race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
The hat-trick seeking Old Gregorian has proved a different proposition since having a tongue strap reapplied, with victories here and at Wetherby in recent months, and he warrants respect in his current vein of form. However, he is effectively racing off 13lb higher without Alan Doyle's 5lb claim so preference is for last season's Morebattle hero CRACKING RHAPSODY. Ewan Whillans' gelding shouldn't be judged too harshly on last month's effort in the Greatwood at Cheltenham and he holds leading claims in these calmer waters. Freddy Robinson may fare best of the remainder.
An open-looking handicap with CRACKING RHAPSODY awarded the vote. He landed the Morebattle here in March and will find this race a good deal easier than the Greatwood at Cheltenham 3 weeks ago. Cannock Park is interesting from this mark returned to timber, with Old Gregorian another to note given his current upward trajectory.
A few with chances but comfortable Wetherby winner OLD GREGORIAN (nap) is a sure-footed jumper firmly on the upgrade.

4/5(+12%) | (8) Kappa Jy Pyke 4/5, Tongue strap on, won 9-runner bumper at Paray-Le-Monial (11.9f, soft). Off 13 months. Makes hurdles debut. First run for yard after leaving D. Satalia and there should be plenty more to come for this yard. Bare form of 1m4f French win does not appear to amount to much but of automatic interest. |

11/1(0%) | (6) Icare D'aubrelle 11/1, Winning bumper debut at Naas in February 2022. Fifth of 9 in bumper (11/2) at this course (19f, good to soft). Off 14 months. Makes hurdles debut and interesting to see what the market makes of him. Has run only once since winning a Naas bumper on debut in February 2022, seems risky. |

250/1(-25%) | (23) A Family Affair 250/1, Fourteenth of 15 in novice hurdle (66/1) at Clonmel (19.5f, good to soft) on NH debut 45 days ago. 66-1 when completely tailed off on introduction at Clonmel in October, safe to rule out. |

Willie Mullins introduces yet another French import in the shape of Kappa Jy Pyke, and while he warrants respect, it might be worth taking him on. The winner of an AQPS race in his native land back in October of last year, he beat Kuzco and Kazakh d'Arthel into second and third respectively, with both of those disappointing since. Successful on debut in a March point-to-point at Belclare, Pure Steel is of definite interest on his first start for Jimmy Mangan, while the Henry de Bromhead-trained Sky Lord and Enda Bolger's Park That are other leading hopes. For a selection, ICARE D'AUBRELLE gets the nod. Described as 'something special' after winning on debut at Naas in February 2022, he has clearly met with trouble since but could start making up for lost time now.
TITANIUM possessed more than his share of ability on the level so in the hope he takes to this discipline (and sees it out) at the first attempt, he could outclass these. Kappa JY Pyke is sure to be well prepared for this so has to be feared, along with Sky Lord.
Beaten only a neck by a subsequent 6l maiden hurdle winner in a Fairyhouse bumper, SKY LORD is tipped to make a winning hurdles debut

1st (3) (4/1 +11%) Bread And Butter |
4/1(+11%) | (3) Bread And Butter 4/1, Back to form to capitalise on his reduced mark at Hereford and Market Rasen under Lewis Saunders last month. A 6 lb rise shouldn't prevent him making a bold bid for the hat-trick. 2-2 since having wind surgery; still well treated on historical data; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (22/1 +12%) Ghasham |
22/1(+12%) | (10) Ghasham 22/1, Opened hurdles account at Market Rasen in March 2023 but he's found life tougher in a light career since. Bit better than the result back hurdling at Leicester last month but others are still preferred for win purposes. Won off this mark two seasons ago; not solid on recent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (14/1 +13%) Nollyador |
14/1(+13%) | (9) Nollyador 14/1, Fair form when placed in bumpers in 2021/22 but only modest form in maiden/novice hurdles in the 2022/23 season. An opening mark of 100 looks workable on his bumper form but he has a 20-month absence to overcome and the betting is perhaps the best guide to expectations. Well treated on bumper form but has been absent since March 2023; market helpful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (17/2 -6%) Rialannah |
17/2(-6%) | (5) Rialannah 17/2, Remains a maiden following 8 attempts in this sphere. Ran as well as could be expected when third in a Doncaster novice recently and handicaps provide her with a more realistic chance of success. Maiden who hasn't progressed but is bred to win a race at some stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (5/2 +69%) Diamond Dice |
5/2(+69%) | (1) Diamond Dice 5/2, Ludlow maiden winner last season. Shaped quite well when third of 8 in handicap at Market Rasen (2m, good) on reappearance but failed to build on it at Aintree since. Up in trip. Disappointing last time but can't be written off yet; steps up in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (2/1 +60%) Jubilant |
2/1(+60%) | (4) Jubilant 2/1, Irish point recruit who showed useful winning form in bumpers. Third in maiden/novice hurdles this autumn and appeals as a likely improver now making a quick switch to handicaps under Callum Pritchard. Handicap debutant; recorded an easy bumper win on sole Huntingdon start; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (15/2 -88%) Orchestra |
15/2(-88%) | (6) Orchestra 15/2, Fair performer on Flat who came good over hurdles in a 19.5f course handicap last month. Should remain competitive after a 5 lb rise. Suited by the new trip (2m3f) here five weeks ago and remains unexposed beyond 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (18/1 +18%) Gloire D'athon |
18/1(+18%) | (7) Gloire D'athon 18/1, Prolific early in his chasing career (winning 5 of his first 6 starts) but has lost his way over fences in the last year or so. Remains to be seen whether a return to hurdles sparks a revival. Chase form has gone pear-shaped; not seen over hurdles since May 2022. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Bread And Butter was successful by half a length in this grade at Market Rasen last month and he should mount a bold bid in his attempt to complete the hat-trick. However, it may pay to side with ORCHESTRA, who scored over this track and trip last time and only has a 5lb higher rating to contend with today. Fergal O'Brien's four-year-old might only need to produce a repeat of that display in order to record a double. Rialannah completes the shortlist.
Lewis Saunders partnered BREAD AND BUTTER to a pair of wins last month and a 6 lb rise doesn't look enough to stop them combining for another success, particularly as the conditions of this race allow his promising rider to claim 8 lb. In contrast, Callum Pritchard can only take 3 lb off Jubilant's back but James Owen's charge is a likely improver in handicaps and still rates a potential big threat. Last month's course scorer Orchestra may prove best of the remainder.
Handicap debutant JUBILANT is open to progress and gets the vote ahead of Orchestra.

1st (11) (11/2 +50%) Sunset Hill |
11/2(+50%) | (11) Sunset Hill 11/2, Unplaced in points and just modest form so far under Rules, runner-up in a weak novice hurdle at Hexham last time. Up in trip now but this demands more. Has shown ability and this longer trip may help, but others have more substance to claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (25/1 +11%) Love That |
25/1(+11%) | (6) Love That 25/1, Just modest form so far over hurdles and fell at Ayr last time. Has something to find. Point winner; has made the frame over hurdles; a faller the last twice; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (6/1 +67%) Reflection Of You |
6/1(+67%) | (7) Reflection Of You 6/1, Won sole start in Irish points (Oct 2023) and followed up in 6-runner bumper at Musselburgh first time out under Rules in April. Hasn't built on that since, including in novice at Ayr on hurdling debut. Needs to up her game. Point and bumper winner; disappointing the last twice but it's too soon to write her off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4/7 +83%) Roaring Home |
4/7(+83%) | (2) Roaring Home 4/7, Plenty of promise in 3 bumper starts and marked herself out as a good prospect in this sphere when winning 9-runner mares' maiden at Exeter (16.7f) on return. Struck into when pulled up at Newbury next time, so remains with potential. Won on hurdle debut at Exeter and had an excuse at Newbury next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (8/1 -33%) Nellie Bluesky |
8/1(-33%) | (1) Nellie Bluesky 8/1, Modest form at best in a trio in bumpers but a different proposition sent hurdling when springing a surprise at Perth (2½m) in May. That wasn't a great race but she should still be competitive under a penalty on return. 50-1 hurdle debut win in May; form not overly strong but could give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (25/1 -614%) Royal Creek |
25/1(-614%) | (8) Royal Creek 25/1, Sister to bumper winner Benign Dictator, and half-sister to fair hurdler West Is Awake. Made a winning debut in a Ballinrobe bumper for Edmond Kent and bought for £90,000 since. That was over 2 years ago, however. Won bumper on debut in August 2022; absent since but a market check is advised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (25/1 +75%) Bluebell Glen |
25/1(+75%) | (3) Bluebell Glen 25/1, Showed a bit in bumpers but no impact over hurdles last season, refusing to race here when last seen in April. Bumper runner-up but struggled on first two hurdle starts and refused to race last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (66/1 +0%) Stopwouldya |
66/1(+0%) | (10) Stopwouldya 66/1, £8,000 4-y-o, Mount Nelson mare. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler Catch Him Derry and fair hurdler In A Pinch. Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points in May 2023. Point runner-up who was bought for £8,000; may be best watched after absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
ROARING HOME wasn't able to show her true colours when pulling up at Newbury, but an excuse emerged for that display. She had previously been impressive when making a successful hurdling introduction at Exeter and is worth another chance. Royal Creek merits a look in the market, while Nellie Bluesky has to prove her 50/1 Perth triumph was no fluke.
Hurdling-debutante SAGONIGE is a bumper winner with the scope to take to hurdling. Roaring Home is another one to consider.
Exeter maiden hurdle winner ROARING HOME had an excuse when pulled up at Newbury last time (struck into) and can bounce back with a win.

1st (4) (9/2 +31%) Pray Tell |
9/2(+31%) | (4) Pray Tell 9/2, 2 wins from 6 runs this season. 9/2, creditable third of 11 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20f, good) 53 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. Back up in trip. Stays this trip well and likely to give a good account on his first try at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/4 +33%) Minella Sixo |
5/4(+33%) | (2) Minella Sixo 5/4, Made it 2 wins from 3 starts in 4-runner novice hurdle (1/3) at Thurles (22.9f, good) 17 days ago. Capable of better again. Stepped up in trip again to win a Thurles novice hurdle two weeks ago; promising stayer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/4 +61%) Just For Love |
11/4(+61%) | (6) Just For Love 11/4, 11/2, creditable 6 lengths second of 8 to World of Fortunes in listed hurdle at Limerick (21f, good to soft) just over 7 weeks ago, going with enthusiasm. Fancied to be in the shake-up. Yard also saddles Luckinthecity. Good effort in a 2m5f Listed contest at Limerick latest; stays well and should be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (80/1 -100%) Therellbguddaysyet |
80/1(-100%) | (5) Therellbguddaysyet 80/1, Left debut form in this sphere well behind to spring a surprise in 7-runner maiden hurdle (40/1) at Thurles (20.7f, good) 10 days ago. This demands another huge chunk of improvement. Got up late to win a Thurles maiden hurdle last week; much more needed stepping up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 -230%) Churchroad Prince |
11/1(-230%) | (3) Churchroad Prince 11/1, 7/4, confirmed previous hurdling promise when cosily winning 14-runner maiden at Ballinrobe (22.6f, good) when last seen 6 months ago. Remains open to improvement. First run since May and has a little to find but no surprise if he was able to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) (6/1 -50%) Luckinthecity |
6/1(-50%) | (1) Luckinthecity 6/1, Bumper winner who arrives 2-2 over hurdles, winning 14-runner maiden at Kilbeggan in August then holding on gamely in C&D novice 8 weeks ago. Open to further improvement and should make a bold bid for the hat-trick up in grade. C&D winner; still more to come from him and should be able to handle softer ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
It might be worth taking a chance on CHURCHROAD PRINCE. Trained locally by the shrewd Jonathan Sweeney, this six-year-old hasn't been seen since winning at Ballinrobe in May. A brother to Jonjo O'Neill's Bill Joyce, a Grade 2 winner at Sandown on Friday, he is likely to be suited by this step up in trip. The hat-trick seeking Luckinthecity won by a short head when last seen over C&D in October but was somewhat fortunate, with the rider of the runner-up losing his whip. His stable companion Just For Love warrants respect getting a mares' allowance, while Minella Sixo has obvious claims after missing Saturday's Navan engagement. Pray Tell and Therellbguddaysyet complete the line-up.
Cases can be made for most of these, but LUCKINTHECITY is 2-2 in this sphere and with further progress anticipated, Willie Mullins' 5-y-o can take this step up in class in his stride at the expense of Minella Sixo, who is declared to run at Navan on Saturday but would be a huge danger if turning up here. Pray Tell saw his winning run come to an end last time, but he remained in good form so rounds off the shortlist.
Slight preference is for JUST FOR LOVE, who ran into a good one at Limerick last time and this longer trip is likely to suit

1st (5) (8/11 +76%) Laurens Bay |
8/11(+76%) | (5) Laurens Bay 8/11, Runner-up sole start in points and made a winning start under Rules when taking 6-runner Fontwell bumper (13.7f, heavy) in March. Runner-up both starts over hurdles despite not looking the finished article and there should be plenty more to come. Clear second at Fontwell last time in a race that's working out nicely; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 -40%) Hms President |
7/2(-40%) | (1) Hms President 7/2, Useful handicapper on Flat, albeit lightly raced in recent times. Landed the odds with the minimum of fuss on second hurdles start at Kempton a month ago and sure to leave bare form behind. Carries 7lb penalty for Kempton win but retains potential, being useful on the Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/2 -120%) Eternal Angel |
11/2(-120%) | (4) Eternal Angel 11/2, €140,000 3-y-o, Authorized gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Eternal Army and a winning jumper in USA. Dam maiden on Flat. Well backed and made a promising start when second of 6 in a bumper at Ascot a month ago. Has to be of interest now hurdling. Promising debut in Ascot bumper; clear possibilities with progress on the cards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (40/1 -433%) Wotter Trotter |
40/1(-433%) | (9) Wotter Trotter 40/1, Walk In The Park gelding. Half-brother to numerous winners, including useful hurdle winner/chaser Monbeg Charmer and useful hurdle winner/fairly useful chaser Tokay Dokey. Already had a breathing operation but yard's newcomers command respect. 35,000euros yearling; half-brother to five winners; heed the market signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (17/2 +15%) The Hardest Geezer |
17/2(+15%) | (8) The Hardest Geezer 17/2, Dam unraced sister to high-class hurdler (stayed 3m) Kilcooley. Belied odds of 18/1 to make a comfortable winning debut in a bumper at Ayr for Donald Whillans. Sold for £90,000 and a shade disappointing in a course bumper. Yard going better now and he was fourth on last month's hurdles bow. Ran well in first-time hood at Chepstow on hurdles debut; frame possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (100/1 +0%) Tarbat Ness |
100/1(+0%) | (7) Tarbat Ness 100/1, Modest handicapper on Flat (stays 17f), gaining deserved success at Catterick in October. Stamina no issue but he may just need this experience now hurdling. Won low-grade handicap on latest Flat start; unlikely to follow up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (100/1 -150%) Granny Hawkins |
100/1(-150%) | (11) Granny Hawkins 100/1, Runner-up in a Southwell bumper on debut in June 2023 but well beaten in another bumper and completed start over hurdles since. Mid-race faller on reappearance; bit to prove, though may do better at some stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (22/1 -83%) Sergeant Fury |
22/1(-83%) | (6) Sergeant Fury 22/1, Successful sole outing in points and showed plenty to work on when third of 4 in bumper at Wincanton (15.2f, good) last month. Sent hurdling and looked in need of a stiffer test of stamina when occupying same spot at Southwell. Irish point winner; placed in both rules starts, latest over hurdles at Southwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (400/1 -300%) Order Of Progress |
400/1(-300%) | (12) Order Of Progress 400/1, Took a keen hold and tailed off in well-contested 3-y-o Newbury bumper last Christmas for Tom Lacey. Third in a point in April but didn't achieve a great deal on last month's hurdles debut. Holds weak claims on form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (25/1 +24%) Brixson |
25/1(+24%) | (2) Brixson 25/1, Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/chaser Terresita. Promise when hitting the frame both starts in bumpers in October. Something to find on bumper form but remains open to improvement. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ETERNAL ANGEL took the silver medal home on his encouraging debut in a bumper at Ascot last month and now makes his first start over hurdles. A 140,000-euro purchase, Nicky Henderson's four-year-old is related to plenty of winners and might be able to make an instant impression in this sphere. HMS President is the obvious danger after scoring at Kempton on his most recent outing, but a 7lb penalty makes life tougher. Of the remainder, Laurens Bay makes the most appeal after his second at Fontwell.
HMS PRESIDENT outclassed his rivals at Kempton a month ago and given his Flat ability, there should be plenty more to come from him in this sphere. He's therefore fancied to defy a penalty, possibly at the chief expense of Laurens Bay and Eternal Angel.
Solid LAURENS BAY looks the pick on hurdles form, ahead of HMS President. Another to consider is Eternal Angel.

Back on track at Carlisle on return and can't be ruled out. Won 2m4f heavy-ground maiden hurdle at Newcastle in February; has staying potential. |

2nd (7) (2/1 +50%) Forged Well |
2/1(+50%) | (7) Forged Well 2/1, Point recruit who tasted success on hurdles debut at Carlisle (19.3f) last December and was back to winning ways here on reappearance. Extra distance should suit and he's a big player. Got up in final strides over 2m5f here latest; today's extra yardage may well suit. |

3rd (4) (25/1 -25%) Gaillimh A Stor |
25/1(-25%) | (4) Gaillimh A Stor 25/1, Fair novice hurdle winner (at 20.5f) who failed to convince with jumping over fences. Benefited from return to hurdling when third at Haydock 20 months ago but not seen since. Lightly raced 8yo who is on a handy mark on best form but has a very hefty absence to defy. |

4th (10) (22/1 -120%) Siberian Star |
22/1(-120%) | (10) Siberian Star 22/1, Out of form in Ireland when last seen under Rules two years ago. Has won a point (from eight attempts) since and is worth a market check for new connections. Won a point-to-point in May but has a modest strike-rate under rules; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (40/1 -60%) Joie More |
40/1(-60%) | (11) Joie More 40/1, Made the frame in points and has shown promise over hurdles. Latest effort in a Carlisle handicap was underwhelming, however. Runner-up in maiden hurdle here in March but unable to threaten in first two handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (12/1 +14%) Gypsey's Secret |
12/1(+14%) | (12) Gypsey's Secret 12/1, Got off the mark aged 9 despite being 5 lb out of the handicap at Carlisle (soft) in March. Solid effort next time and can get involved if tuned up back from 7 months off. Won at Carlisle in March but off since soundly beaten fourth over C&D in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (4/1 -45%) Lunar Chief |
4/1(-45%) | (6) Lunar Chief 4/1, Won his sole outing in bumpers and left previous hurdling performances behind when opening his account in C&D novice a month ago. Scope for better again, so looks the one to beat. C&D novice hurdle winner who makes handicap debut and is in very good hands to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (17/2 +6%) Follow Charlie |
17/2(+6%) | (9) Follow Charlie 17/2, 9/2, good third of 8 in handicap hurdle at Ayr (20.4f, good to soft) 25 days ago. May still have more to offer, so not without hope. Two wins at Ayr earlier this year; has to prove himself away from there but not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (22/1 -120%) City Derby |
22/1(-120%) | (1) City Derby 22/1, Completed a Cartmel 4-timer in staying handicaps this summer and emerged with credit in finishing placed at Perth/Aintree subsequently. Not seen to best effect at Wetherby last time, so shouldn't be fully dismissed. Below par at Wetherby last time but enjoying a good season otherwise and could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (11/1 +56%) Kingston Bridge |
11/1(+56%) | (3) Kingston Bridge 11/1, Back on the up when scoring at Kelso in April and displayed a willing attitude for latest success there in June. Held form subsequently but may need this after 141 days off. Progressive earlier in year before two below-par runs; needs to return with career best. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for LUNAR CHIEF over hurdles after a success over C&D, Ruth Jefferson's charge is likely to have plenty more to come on his handicap bow. A mark of 113 looks manageable and he may have too much for Forged Well, who bounced back to winning ways with a determined display over shorter here last month. Follow Charlie and Kingston Bridge are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
LUNAR CHIEF opened his account over hurdles here a month ago and his bumper form gives hope for better still, so he takes preference over fellow last-time-out winner Forged Well. Follow Charlie should also give a good account.
Forged Well is a tempting option but the unexposed 6yo YOUNG JACK also has potential at today's trip and gets the nod.

1st (5) (2/1 -14%) Only By Night |
2/1(-14%) | (5) Only By Night 2/1, Promising individual. Career best when winning 8-runner novice chase (9/2) at Tipperary (16.4f, soft) on debut over fences 16 days ago, soon clear. Can make presence felt. Impressive chase debut at Tipperary indicated that she could be even better over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (7/4 +22%) Nara |
7/4(+22%) | (8) Nara 7/4, Promising type. Career best when winning 5-runner novice chase at Gowran (16f, good, evens) 29 days ago, easily. Should progress again and makes plenty of appeal. Bounced back to win a mares beginners at Gowran last month; classy and should go close. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (20/1 +0%) Karia Des Blaises |
20/1(+0%) | (7) Karia Des Blaises 20/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Fifth of 6 in minor event hurdle (9/1) at Listowel (16.4f, good), doing too much too soon. Off 6 months. Makes chase debut. Bad fall in the Boodles at Cheltenham may have left its mark in three subsequent runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (25/1 -39%) Kilbarry Saint |
25/1(-39%) | (3) Kilbarry Saint 25/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. 15/2, 16½ lengths third of 5 to Nara in novice chase at Gowran (16f, good) on debut over fences 29 days ago. Likely to improve. No match for Nara at Gowran last month on her chase debut; should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (16/1 -14%) A Law Of Her Own |
16/1(-14%) | (1) A Law Of Her Own 16/1, Fairly useful chaser. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 9/1, bit below form third of 7 in novice chase at Clonmel (20.8f, good to soft) 31 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Placed on all three runs over fences included at Grade 3 and Listed level; should go okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (150/1 -50%) Must Be Dreaming |
150/1(-50%) | (4) Must Be Dreaming 150/1, Modest chaser. Latest win in chase at Tramore in September. Fifth of 8 in handicap chase at Thurles (16.6f, good, 13/2) 17 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere. Tramore winner well beaten twice since and looks a little out of her depth here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (50/1 -52%) Air Drop |
50/1(-52%) | (2) Air Drop 50/1, Fairly useful chaser. 3/1, 37½ lengths last of 5 to Nara in novice chase at Gowran (16f, good) 29 days ago. Not dismissed. Better than her run at Gowran but needs to find a bit to be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (5/2 +29%) Zenta |
5/2(+29%) | (6) Zenta 5/2, Useful hurdler. 8/13, respectable fourth of 14 in novice chase at Ballinrobe (17.1f, good). Off 7 months. More to come in this sphere. Jumped sketchily on chasing debut at Ballinrobe in May; should be capable of much better. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Impressive winners at Tipperary and Gowran respectively, ONLY BY NIGHT and Nara look the ones to focus on. The Gavin Cromwell-trained former easily accounted for an odds-on chance when successful at the Limerick Junction venue and, back against her own sex now, she might be able to follow up. Still only a four-year-old, Nara gets a weight allowance. She trounced her rivals when last seen at Gowran and had the reopposing Kilbarry Saint and Air Drop behind. A winner at the highest level over flights, Zenta looks the best of the rest. Disappointingly beaten into fourth on her debut over fences at Ballinrobe in May, it'll come as no surprise if she manages to bounce back. A Law Of Her Own has some solid form to her name and is another who warrants respect.
ZENTA didn't quite come up to expectations on chasing debut but she's the pick on hurdles form and should improve after 7 months off, so she's marginally preferred to recent winners Only By Night and Nara.
Preference is for ONLY BY NIGHT, who could well be a better chaser than hurdler based on her Tipperary success against geldings

1st (3) (2/1 +50%) Djelo |
2/1(+50%) | (3) Djelo 2/1, Won first 3 starts over fences, latterly an Ascot Grade 2 last December. Placed in Golden Miller at Cheltenham prior to a lesser effort in Aintree Grade 1. Shaped with a good deal of encouragement in an Exeter handicap on return. Step back up in trip is well in his favour and he's a definite player. Ran well in the Haldon Gold Cup on reappearance and may improve further; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6/4 +8%) Protektorat |
6/4(+8%) | (2) Protektorat 6/4, Back to winning ways in the Ryanair at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Backed that up when 2½ lengths third to Jonbon at Aintree and shaped as if better for the run when sixth in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at the former track. Key player. Best form, such as Ryanair win, gives him a leading chance in this field; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (15/8 +32%) Ginny's Destiny |
15/8(+32%) | (5) Ginny's Destiny 15/8, Had an excellent first campaign over fences with the Paul Nicholls yard, including a Cheltenham hat-trick between November and January. Even better form when second in Grade 1 company twice after but pulled up in Paddy Power Gold Cup on return. Can bounce back. Smart novice chaser last term; folded tamely on reappearance but is still of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (14/1 -40%) Nickle Back |
14/1(-40%) | (4) Nickle Back 14/1, Talented, bold-jumping front runner who started last season really well. Pulled up in a Sandown handicap 7 months ago and may be outclassed on return. Hard to peg back when on song but removal of usual hood presents a question mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (33/1 -136%) Minella Drama |
33/1(-136%) | (1) Minella Drama 33/1, Smart performer who returned right on his game to make a winning return in an Aintree handicap. Not guaranteed to build on that and has a bit to find. Made all in the Old Roan at Aintree six weeks ago; faces a stiffer task on these terms. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
PROTEKTORAT remains clear at the weights despite carrying a penalty for winning the Grade 1 Ryanair Chase in fine style at Cheltenham in March. Dan Skelton's high-class chaser will be sharper for last month's reappearance and could prove tough to beat at this level. Ginny's Destiny had the measure of Djelo (third) when runner-up in the Turners at the Cheltenham Festival and rates a threat on that form, while Minella Drama, a Grade 2 winner at Aintree on his return to action, is preferred to Nickle Back of the remainder.
PROTEKTORAT and Ginny's Destiny are closely matched on form but the first-named arrives on the back of a more encouraging reappearance and is marginally preferred. Djelo shaped well at Exeter and should benefit from the step back up in trip, so he's also a player.
Protektorat is respected at the weights and Ginny's Destiny remains of interest but DJELO is a solid alternative to that pair.

1st (5) (12/1 +0%) Bretney |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Bretney 12/1, Pair of chase wins earlier in the year, latterly making all in the Highland National at Perth (3¾m) in April. Might have needed the run when well held on his Bangor reappearance but he will need to leave that well behind now. Won the 3m6f Highland National in April and may have needed last month's reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (14/1 -75%) Your Own Story |
14/1(-75%) | (2) Your Own Story 14/1, Runner-up on all 3 outings back from absence in the spring but ran badly back from another break at Carlisle last month. First-time cheekpieces need to help spark a revival. Fine second over 3m7f at Punchestown in May; may have needed last month's comeback run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (11/1 +31%) Travail D'orfevre |
11/1(+31%) | (12) Travail D'orfevre 11/1, Most consistent last season. Should come on for his Ayr reappearance 6 weeks ago but has done the vast majority of his racing at up to 2½m so his stamina has to be taken on trust over this significantly longer trip. Stays well over 2m4f but takes a huge step up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (20/1 +20%) Fairlawn Flyer |
20/1(+20%) | (10) Fairlawn Flyer 20/1, Won at Cartmel in August 2023 and looked set to coast in at Fontwell the following month only to pull up quickly before 3 out. Absent since. The betting is perhaps the best guide to expectations. Returns from long absence but Welsh stable has very healthy 26% strike-rate here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/2 +45%) Jet Legs |
11/2(+45%) | (6) Jet Legs 11/2, Winner of a pair of handicap chases around 3m last winter. Probably needed last month's Carlisle reappearance and he's unexposed as a long-distance chaser. Needs considering. Two wins during last season's novice campaign and hinted he may be suited by marathon trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (33/1 -175%) Haute Estime |
33/1(-175%) | (7) Haute Estime 33/1, Mixed record over fences last season and also well beaten back hurdling on her Ayr reappearance. Remains to be seen whether first-time cheekpieces make the difference. Return to form needed but cheekpieces may help and she's a strong stayer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (5/2 +58%) Raceview Road |
5/2(+58%) | (11) Raceview Road 5/2, Multiple Irish point winner who made a winning chase debut over 21.5f here in April. Good placed efforts around 3m on all 3 outings since and leaves this impression this increased stamina test could play to his strengths. Interesting. Lightly raced course winner who stayed on well for second over Carlisle's stiff 3m latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (7/2 +50%) Flower Of Scotland |
7/2(+50%) | (9) Flower Of Scotland 7/2, Won this race in 2022. Her efforts in the last 12 months raise doubts as to whether she's quite the force of old but her handicap mark reflects that and she's entitled to come on for last month's Carlisle reappearance after wind surgery. Yard has an excellent record in this race. It's a long time since she's run well but she's 3-4 here, including a win in this in 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (9/1 +10%) Pinot Rouge |
9/1(+10%) | (3) Pinot Rouge 9/1, Point winner who took well to hurdling last season, winning 3m Doncaster listed in March before fine fourth in Grade 1 Sefton at Aintree (3m again) in April. Has made a slightly underwhelming start to her chase career around 2½m this autumn but could prove a different proposition now up in trip. Looked all about stamina over hurdles and she could relish this step up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (14/1 -27%) Universal Folly |
14/1(-27%) | (4) Universal Folly 14/1, Multiple winner for Nicky Richards who has steadily got his act together for present yard, his stamina shining through in a well-run race when scoring over 3¼m here in October. Had a few of these rivals behind him when fourth at Carlisle since. Back up in trip. Won in good style over 3m2f here in October; unproven at the trip but not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (14/1 +44%) Prince Des Fichaux |
14/1(+44%) | (8) Prince Des Fichaux 14/1, Ended last season with a poor run and has fared no better in 2 comeback outings in recent months. Given a chance by the handicapper but his claims aren't obvious. The trip and the return of blinkers are possible positives, but a big turnaround is needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
RACEVIEW ROAD has long shaped as though stepping up to an extreme trip could suit, and recent efforts at around three miles here and at Carlisle have confirmed that impression. Keeping on at the finish when placed on each of those outings, George Bewley's charge can land the prize at the main expense of the unexposed Pinot Rouge, who was a Listed winner over hurdles at Doncaster in March. Flower Of Scotland is 7lb lower than when landing this contest in 2022 and is a key player, as are Jet Legs and Universal Folly.
JET LEGS leaves the impression he could really come into his own now tackling a long distance for the first time and gets the vote. Raceview Road is another young chaser who shapes as if an increased stamina test will suit and is second choice. 2022 winner Flower of Scotland is potentially well handicapped and completes the shortlist for a local stable with an excellent record in this race.
The mare PINOT ROUGE showed abundant stamina in 3m novice hurdles last season and looks made for today's test.

5/4(-56%) | (6) Energumene 5/4, Top-class chaser who was very much on song in spring 2023, winning a second Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham in March before following up at Punchestown in April. Not seen since but still the one to beat. Dual Champion Chase winner, missed last season, sets a very high standard if fit and ready. |

2nd (2) (5/2 +67%) Dinoblue |

Yard having good spell. Grade 1 winner last Christmas, did not quite match expectations at the major festivals. |

9/1(+44%) | (4) Appreciate It 9/1, High-class chaser. 33/1, good 5½ lengths fifth of 9 to Fastorslow in Punchestown Gold Cup at Punchestown (25f, good to soft), suited by emphasis on speed. Off 7 months. Stable having good spell. No success since his novice days, interesting to see how he fares over this trip. |

4th (5) (10/1 +0%) Blue Lord |
10/1(+0%) | (5) Blue Lord 10/1, High-class chaser. Seven wins from 16 NH runs. 6½ lengths fourth of 6 to Fastorslow in John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase at Punchestown (19.7f, soft, 6/1). Off 12 months. Six-time winner over fences including three Grade 1s, ran only once last season, tough ask. |

5th (8) (80/1 +0%) The Banger Doyle |
80/1(+0%) | (8) The Banger Doyle 80/1, Useful chaser. 2 wins from 4 runs this season. Career best when winning 6-runner handicap chase at this course (17.6f, good, 11/4) 56 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere. Now has 3-10 record over fences after C&D handicap win eight weeks ago, this is ambitious. |

6th (7) (16/1 +43%) Hunters Yarn |
16/1(+43%) | (7) Hunters Yarn 16/1, Smart chaser. 15/2, bit below form 21½ lengths fifth of 10 to Gaelic Warrior in Arkle Chase at Cheltenham (15.9f, heavy). Off 9 months. Yard having good spell. Difficult ask. Inexperience proved costly when he contested the Arkle, taking on talented stablemates. |

7/1(+0%) | (3) Ferny Hollow 7/1, High-class chaser. Didn't need to be at best when winning 6-runner Newlands Chase at Naas (16f, heavy, 2/5) by 5½ lengths from Rebel Gold, easily. Off 9 months. A top-class performer whose career has been beset with problems, unbeaten over fences. |

|U| (1) (16/1 -14%) Banbridge |
16/1(-14%) | (1) Banbridge 16/1, High-class chaser. Ten wins from 18 NH runs. 1 win from 2 runs this season. 10/3, 28¼ lengths fourth of 6 to Found A Fifty in Fortria Chase at Navan (16f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Should be sharper now. Ended last season with fine Punchestown triumph, ring-rusty on reappearance at Navan. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ENERGUMENE won this race in 2021 and 2022 before enjoying arguably his finest hour the following spring when beating Captain Guinness by 10 lengths to land his second Champion Chase at Cheltenham. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding now reappears after an absence of 593 days and it will be interesting to see how strong he is in the market. The champion trainer saddles six of the eight runners and the fragile Ferny Hollow is also a classy Grade 1 winner, while Appreciate It ran a cracker when runner-up to Fastorslow on his reappearance in the John Durkan Chase last year. Banbridge had Dinoblue over a length behind in third when taking the Champion Chase at the Punchestown Festival last spring, but will not be suited by soft ground.
Willie Mullins dominates this race and ENERGUMENE can make light of his absence and win it for a third time. Banbridge can step up on his reappearance and provide the chief threat ahead of Blue Lord, another from the Mullins yard returning from a layoff.
If near his best for his return Energumene willl be hard to beat. However, at the likely odds DINOBLUE is a feasible alternative

11/2(+27%) | (6) Bluegrass 11/2, Had a second wind op prior to reappearance and stepped up as required on that effort to make it 2-2 at Fakenham (16f, good to soft) last month, first-time cheekpieces perhaps the required boost. Nudged up 3 lb and fancied to remain competitive. Took well to first-time cheekpieces at Fakenham last month; has C&D form. |

2nd (4) (8/11 +58%) Go To War |
8/11(+58%) | (4) Go To War 8/11, Uttoxeter bumper winner who got off the mark at the third time of asking over hurdles at Ludlow last December. Had wind surgery before following up 3 months later back there (tongue tied) and should have more to offer now handicapping on first start for this yard. Progressive for Fergal O'Brien, latterly winning twice at Ludlow; commands respect. |

3rd (5) (5/1 +9%) Rock House |
5/1(+9%) | (5) Rock House 5/1, Point/bumper winner who easily landed the odds on hurdling bow at Worcester last September and built on that when third in Chepstow Grade 2 the following month. Couple of heavy defeats next 2 starts and failed to land the odds over C&D (soft) when last seen 8 months ago. Can get back on track. Didn't look entirely keen here in April; comes with risk but is well treated on best form. |

4th (2) (7/1 -56%) Milldam |
7/1(-56%) | (2) Milldam 7/1, Proved better than ever when recording a third win of last season in 5-runner handicap at Stratford (16.3f, heavy) back in March, closed down close home by rallying runner-up. Was in need of the run first start back last term but further improvement can't be ruled out for an in-form yard. Successful in last three attempts at about 2m and the form has substance; interesting. |

20/1(-233%) | (3) Kikijo 20/1, Won juvenile hurdle at Nantes (17.4f, soft) decisively on sole start in France 14 months ago. Not seen since but his new yard is in good form, and he is worth monitoring in the market on handicap debut. Recorded a clearcut win in French 3yo hurdle 14 months ago; could be anything. |

|PU| (1) (33/1 -200%) Light N Strike |
33/1(-200%) | (1) Light N Strike 33/1, Shaped well when runner-up at Kempton in April 2023 and confirmed that promise when gaining a fourth success over fences in handicap at Warwick (16.2f) 4 weeks later. Went like the best horse at the weights when second at Newton Abbot 18 months ago and reverts to hurdling. Probably best watched. Returns to hurdles looking well treated on chase form but has been absent for a long time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Milldam won three of only five starts last season, though all three of those victories came on heavy ground, and GO TO WAR makes more appeal. The latter ended last season with a double in novice company at Ludlow and, having switched to Nicky Henderson's yard during the interim, the six-year-old looks set to make a bold bid now handicapping for the first time. Rock House is worth a second glance off his current mark, while Bluegrass is upped in class after winning at Fakenham last month.
ROCK HOUSE may have disappointed after finishing third in a Chepstow Grade 2 last October, but it looks significant connections are persevering with him so he gets the nod to make a winning return at the expense of Go To War, who won a couple of novice hurdles at Ludlow last season and should have more to offer now handicapping on first start for a new yard.
With his form stacking up well, MILLDAM is taken to record another success. Progressive Go To War is second choice.

16/5(-16%) | (2) Matata 16/5, Headstrong sort but he made up into a smart novice chaser last term and he's improved again in handicaps at Cheltenham this autumn, finishing close second on return before going one better 23 days later. Helped by Gunsight Ridge's late departure last time but still much respected off 3 lb higher. Won at Cheltenham 3 weeks ago and there could still be mileage in this front-runner's mark. |

3rd (1) (11/2 -22%) Tommy's Oscar |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Tommy's Oscar 11/2, Very smart chaser who won over C&D on last year's reappearance. Ended that campaign with a defeat of Traprain Law at the Ayr Scottish National meeting. Shaped as if needing this year's reappearance back here 2 months ago, beaten just over 12 lengths into third. Two-time course winner who reappeared with fair third here and could build on that run. |

4th (6) (7/4 +61%) Traprain Law |
7/4(+61%) | (6) Traprain Law 7/4, Progressed into a useful chaser last season, including a C&D win, and shaped well when 6¼ lengths third of 4 to Marble Sands in 2½m Carlisle listed event on reappearance, weakening after mistake 2 out. The return to a shorter trip will suit and he remains open to improvement. Two wins during last season's novice campaign and his reappearance performance bodes well. |

5th (3) (14/1 +13%) Malystic |
14/1(+13%) | (3) Malystic 14/1, Smart chaser. Ran well when narrowly denied on his C&D reappearance but a poor run at Ascot since needs forgiving. Pulled up at Ascot but has never shone on southern raids; went close over C&D in October. |

|PU| (5) (4/1 +11%) Gunsight Ridge |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Gunsight Ridge 4/1, Reacted well to first-time cheekpieces when landing 2m handicap chase at Perth in April. 2 lengths down and closing on Matata when falling at the last on Cheltenham reappearance. Shouldn't be much between then. Closing on Matata when falling at the final fence at Cheltenham on reappearance; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (150/1 -275%) Gua Du Large |
150/1(-275%) | (7) Gua Du Large 150/1, Useful at his best in Ireland for Herny de Bromhead but below par this season, including on last month's first run for a new yard. Has plenty to prove in a refitted hood. No return to form on last month's stable debut; 6lb out of the handicap; others preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Malystic had Tommy's Oscar 12 lengths back in third when touched off over track and trip in October, and he could bounce back from being pulled up in a premier handicap at Ascot subsequently. However, MATATA looks the way to go. Nigel Twiston-Davies' six-year-old justified favouritism at Cheltenham and only has a 3lb higher figure to contend with. If he can back that performance up, he could prove very tough to beat. Nells Son is the pick of the remainder.
TRAPRAIN LAW should have more to offer back around 2m and can see off strong southern opposition in the shape of Matata and Gunsight Ridge and keep this valuable prize in Scotland.
The 6yo C&D winner TRAPRAIN LAW could be set for another good campaign and he earns the vote ahead of Gunsight Ridge.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The form of the bumper that YOUNG LUCY won here last year has worked out well and while she hasn't added to that success, there were plenty of positives to be taken from her return to hurdles over 2m5f at Cheltenham last month. She finished well when beating all bar favourite Double Powerful and gets the vote over Johnny Blue, who won a Worcester bumper for Nicky Henderson and now joins Willie Mullins having filled the runner-up spot twice in maiden hurdles last season. From The Ashes enters calculations on his second at Leopardstown last spring and should benefit from a recent run over fences. Killaney King and Whatsafellatodo are others to consider.
YOUNG LUCY likely would have won at Cheltenham last month but for a mistake at the last and can gain compensation now. Johnny Blue is a potentially dangerous opponent having joined Willie Mullins for his handicap career. One Big Boum and Whatsafellatodo complete the shortlist.
The one to be on is YOUNG LUCY(nap) who was unlucky not to score in a handicap hurdle at Cheltenham last month

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (8/1 +0%) Proper Twelve |
8/1(+0%) | (10) Proper Twelve 8/1, Fair form at best over fences last season, signing off with a tame effort. Prominent in the market but may have needed the run on first outing for 7 months/since leaving Chris Gordon when fourth at Fontwell. Not had many goes over fences and may yet do better. Headgear/tongue strap applied. Recorded sole hurdles win off this mar; attractively treated on second run for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (12/1 +0%) Lyrical Genius |
12/1(+0%) | (7) Lyrical Genius 12/1, Has an unattractive style (takes plenty of riding) and record stands at 0-11 over fences. Sold from Charlie Longsdon £13,000 in May. Potentially on a good mark if stable switch sparks a revival. 0-11 over rules fences but is well treated on peak form; debut for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (6/4 +73%) Jack Sprat |
6/4(+73%) | (6) Jack Sprat 6/4, Twice successful in handicap hurdles here last season. Very much a chaser on looks and there were positives to take from his runs at Wetherby and Exeter this term. Player with headgear applied. Registered both hurdles wins at Huntingdon; interesting back here on third chase attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/2 +63%) Mixedwave |
9/2(+63%) | (8) Mixedwave 9/2, Won 2 of his 7 starts last term but plenty to prove after a couple of uncharacteristically poor runs this season. Normally consistent but his form has dipped sharply this season; revival needed. |

6th (2) (8/1 +50%) Guerlain De Vaux |
8/1(+50%) | (2) Guerlain De Vaux 8/1, Won his first 2 starts over hurdles for Oliver Sherwood but very lightly raced since and pulled up on sole outing for Alastair Ralph on his chasing bow at Hereford (3m1f) over 2 years ago. Needs another new yard to have a reviving effect. Returns from long absence and makes debut for new yard; market helpful. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It was only late in the piece that SAFE DESTINATION was worn down when stepped up to 3m2f at Fontwell last month, and dropping back in trip looks like a good move on this occasion. A comfortable winner at Market Rasen on his penultimate outing, the six-year-old is narrowly preferred to Jack Sprat, who scored twice over hurdles here last season and has made a decent enough start to his career over the larger obstacles. A Definite Getaway may not be the most consistent but is well capable on his day, while the unexposed Muskoka is another to consider.
SAFE DESTINATION arrives at the top of his game which should count for plenty in a race like this. Jack Sprat and A Definite Getaway head the dangers.
Back at the scene of his hurdles wins, JACK SPRAT (nap) can open his chase account. Muskoka is second choice.

1st (2) (15/8 +25%) Whistle Stop Tour |
15/8(+25%) | (2) Whistle Stop Tour 15/8, Winning Irish pointer who showed fairly useful form over hurdles last season, winning twice. Looked rusty after 7 months off when third of 5 in handicap chase at Ayr (20.5f, good to soft) on debut over fences 36 days ago and should be sharper for that. Progressive hurdler; likeable chase debut and returning to further should aid his cause. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/4 +0%) Dare To Shout |
11/4(+0%) | (1) Dare To Shout 11/4, A fairly useful winning hurdler who built on a promising chasing debut when landing a 4-runner contest at Carlisle last month. Open to further improvement so big shout up 4 lb. Progressive and showed a willing attitude to win in a small field at Carlisle; up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (16/1 -100%) Coqolino |
16/1(-100%) | (3) Coqolino 16/1, It's now 14 runs since his last win in 2021 but he is knocking on the door, second of 11 in handicap chase at Hexham (20.1f, soft) 57 days ago. In the mix again back up in trip. 0-14 over fences but has steadied the ship with seconds in his last two races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/2 +39%) Dream Boy |
11/2(+39%) | (5) Dream Boy 11/2, Irish point/hurdles winner who made a winning chase bow at Wetherby on return last month, impressing with his attitude. Disappointed at Carlisle since but type to bounce back. 2 lb out of handicap. Poor last time but his Wetherby win reads quite well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (10/3 +44%) Dunnet Head |
10/3(+44%) | (6) Dunnet Head 10/3, Bumper/hurdles winner who went close to making a winning return at Carlisle 5 weeks ago. Should make a chaser but is 4 lb out of the handicap. 4lb out of the weights but final hurdle effort was likeable and he's bred to make a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (33/1 -230%) Ozzy Cosmo |
33/1(-230%) | (4) Ozzy Cosmo 33/1, Fourth sole start in Irish points and promising start under Rules when landing 12-runner 2m Ayr novice a year ago. Looked beat when falling both starts since, however, so bit to prove now chasing on return. Well handicapped on his winning form over hurdles; had a wind op; he's of interest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Whistle Stop Tour was a shade disappointing when only third as favourite at Ayr last month, although he can't be written off just yet off an unchanged rating. Even so, DARE TO SHOUT looks the more appealing option. The seven-year-old went in by three lengths at Carlisle and has only been put up 4lb, which may not be enough to stop him from completing a double. Dunnet Head is another to note.
DARE TO SHOUT has taken well to fences and looks capable of defying a 4 lb rise for his Carlisle win with further improvement on the cards. Whistle Stop Tour is likely to leave his chase debut effort behind so is feared most.
A tight race with all six holding chances. WHISTLE STOP TOUR warmed to his task on chase debut when a rallying third over shorter.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A NOD TO GETAWAY won a 2m1f Wexford handicap on soft ground back in May and subsequently showed he's versatile in terms of distance when runner-up in a 2m7f Killarney chase. He was staying on over 2m at Thurles last time and is preferred to Hesasmoothoperator, who has been placed on his latest two starts over this trip and should go close if handling softer ground. Colleen Danu scored on just her second start for Pat Foley at Gowran last month, while The Dooner Citizen finished well at Tramore last time. Lispendense, Del Girl, One And Only and first reserve Duffys Hodey are others to note.
LIBERATED LIGHT took a step back in the right direction at Navan 3 weeks ago and could be the answer off a tempting mark. Hesasmoothoperator and Colleen Danu are feared most.
There is a fair chance that DUFFYS HODEY will make the line-up as first reserve. If so, he can defy a 7lb penalty for his Clonmel win

14/1(+0%) | (1) Fresh As A Daisy 14/1, Kapgarde filly. Half-sister to useful bumper winner/fairly useful 17f hurdle winner Go Dante and fairly useful hurdler/chase winner Angel of Harlem. Represents a top yard so makes obvious appeal despite starting out in deepish waters. Part-bred by her trainer Nicky Henderson and is a bumper type on pedigree; interesting. |

6th (2) (4/1 +11%) Highland Haven |
4/1(+11%) | (2) Highland Haven 4/1, Kayf Tara filly who was easy to back but barely came off the bridle as she made a winning start in 12-runner bumper at Ffos Las (15.8f, good to soft) 4 weeks ago, value for probably double the end margin. Exciting prospect. Registered a very tidy success at Ffos Las, appearing to have a good deal in hand. |

7th (8) (66/1 -65%) Unparked |
66/1(-65%) | (8) Unparked 66/1, Walk In The Park filly. Half-sister to fair hurdler Unklipped. Dam (h114), bumper/17f-21f hurdle winner, half-sister to smart hurdler (2m-3m winner) United. Hooded and likely outsider in this company first time up. Out of a bumper/hurdle winner for her connections; wears hood on debut. |

8th (9) (22/1 -120%) Uptown Lass |
22/1(-120%) | (9) Uptown Lass 22/1, €40,000 3-y-o, Diamond Boy filly. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 25f) Puffin Billy and bumper winner/useful hurdler (stayed 21f) Zuzka. Worth keeping a close eye on. Yard also run Fresh As A Daisy. 40,000euros 3yo; attractively bred; one of two interesting newcomers for Nicky Henderson. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
The Anthony Honeyball yard is usually one to follow in contests of this nature, and his KAPABILITY looked like a smart individual when scoring comfortably at Aintree on her debut in October. Harry Cobden retaining the ride is a big plus and it may be that Highland Haven gives her the most to think about, following a smooth first-time-out success at Ffos Las. A half-sister to the talented Go Dante, Fresh As A Daisy is an intriguing newcomer for leading connections, while point-to-point winner Supreme Malinas finished clear of the rest when a short-head second on her debut under Rules at Newbury and she must be respected.
A host in with chances but KAPABILITY marked herself down as a bright prospect when recording a smooth success at Aintree 6 weeks ago and, with further improvement on the cards, she's fancied to remain unbeaten. Second choice is Highland Haven, who barely came off the bridle to make a winning start at Ffos Las last month, while debutantes Fresh As A Daisy and There Runs Mary tick plenty of boxes on paper so need keeping a close eye on, too.
As regards the runners with experience, HIGHLAND HAVEN is narrowly preferred ahead of Kapability and Supreme Malinas.
Ths is the racecard key.
