1st (2) (8/15 +72%) Melon |
8/15(+72%) | (2) Melon 8/15, Fairly useful on Flat, much improved when successful on handicap debut over 1¾m at Haydock in September. Ground was heavy that day so stamina should be no issue, and he looks to have strong claims in what looks a winnable race. Won on Flat handicap debut in September; unexposed type; respected on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/4 -209%) Belfrina |
9/4(-209%) | (5) Belfrina 9/4, Fairly useful form on Flat (stays 1¼m), much improved when successful in big-field maiden at the Curragh last time. Makes hurdling debut for top yard having left John S. O'Donoghue and it would be no surprise to see her take this. Quite useful form when winning 1m2f Irish Flat maiden in September; hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (28/1 -40%) Saviour |
28/1(-40%) | (4) Saviour 28/1, Fair maiden on the Flat (often raced freely) and from the family of a useful hurdler. Not given hard time on hurdling debut but would need to step forward markedly to be involved here. Became disappointing on the Flat this year and was soundly beaten on recent hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (8/1 +33%) Mariner |
8/1(+33%) | (1) Mariner 8/1, Fair maiden handicapper on Flat (stays 1¼m), Not given a hard time on hurdle debut for this yard and is entitled to come on for that run. Fair Flat racer; kept on steadily for fourth on hurdle debut; can improve with experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (12/1 -33%) Mix De Gris |
12/1(-33%) | (3) Mix De Gris 12/1, Modest on the Flat and pulled up on hurdling debut at Newcastle having raced freely. Shaped better with hood applied when second to easy winner at Wetherby and couldn't rule out with that experience under his belt. Kept on for second at Wetherby last month but was no threat to the winner; more is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (250/1 -150%) Icecap |
250/1(-150%) | (6) Icecap 250/1, Modest maiden on Flat, little impact in varied events in 2024. Sold from Patrick Owens 1,000 gns in September and makes hurdles debut for new yard. Hard to fancy. Unplaced all seven Flat starts; bought for 1,000gns in September; hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (200/1 -300%) Poppys On Fire |
200/1(-300%) | (7) Poppys On Fire 200/1, Gleneagles filly who was a cheap purchase given her good Flat pedigree. Achieved nothing in two bumper runs a week apart, finishing last on both occasions and will need to leave that well behind on hurdling debut. Beaten about 30l in two good-ground bumpers last month; hurdle debut today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Belfrina, a winner at the Curragh in September before switching codes and joining David Pipe, is sure to be popular in receipt of weight from the likes of MELON, but the latter is marginally preferred. The son of Adlerflug won over 1m6f on the Flat at Haydock when last seen and is a particularly interesting contender. Mix De Gris heads the remainder.
BELFRINA is an interesting recruit for the David Pipe yard having won a big-field maiden in Ireland and this looks to be a winnable opportunity on hurdles debut. Melon also won last time on the level so rates the main danger, with Mix de Gris likely to be thereabouts.
This may be fought out by MELON and Belfrina, who switch to hurdling after winning on the Flat in September.

Simpson's Paradox |
(15) (100/1 0%)100/1(0%) | (15) Simpson's Paradox 100/1, Modest Flat winner who went backwards from hurdling bow when twelfth of 19 in novice hurdle at Navan (16f, soft, 125/1) 6 days ago. Regressive on Flat this year and two ordinary efforts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (9) (4/5 +100%) Kel Histoire |
4/5(+100%) | (9) Kel Histoire 4/5, Made a winning debut in 14-runner bumper at Saint-Brieuc (11.9f, soft) 13 months ago. Subsequently left Alain Couetil €200,000. Very interesting now setting out over hurdles for Willie Mullins. French 1m4f winner cost 200,000euros; major respect now joined top yard in excellent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (25/1 -79%) Dream Diamond |
25/1(-79%) | (4) Dream Diamond 25/1, Last of 6 sole outing in points but showed some ability when third of 17 in novice hurdle at Gowran (16f, good to soft) on NH debut 34 days ago. May well do better. Encouraging third on recent Gowran hurdles debut; more likely needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (20) (33/1 -106%) Hello Jack |
33/1(-106%) | (20) Hello Jack 33/1, Wings of Eagles gelding. Half-brother to a point winner. Dam (h105), bumper winner (stayed 2½m), half-sister to bumper winner/useful hurdler (stayed 21f) Santia. RESERVE. Top yard and any market confidence for debutant should be noted; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (17) (16/1 -14%) Van Demon |
16/1(-14%) | (17) Van Demon 16/1, Fairly useful winner at 12f on Flat who was let down by his jumping when sixth of 10 in juvenile hurdle (7/4) at Galway (16.4f, heavy) on NH debut, not knocked about. Off 13 months. Trainer going well. Likely to improve. Flat winner here but absent since jumping poorly at Galway in October 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (15/8 +6%) Kilgame |
15/8(+6%) | (10) Kilgame 15/8, Produced a promising first effort tongue tied (left off here) when second of 9 in juvenile hurdle at Auteuil (17.4f, soft, 11/1). Off 9 months. First run for yard after leaving Gabriel Leenders. Should have plenty more to offer. Auteuil second demands respect on debut for Henry de Bromhead. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (6/1 +40%) Dutch Gold |
6/1(+40%) | (5) Dutch Gold 6/1, Useful on Flat (stays 10.5f) and left hurdling debut form well behind when third of 17 at Cork in May. Flat form suggests he can do better still as a hurdler. Clear third in 2m2f maiden here back in May; fit from the Flat so shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (33/1 0%) I'll Sort That |
33/1(0%) | (7) I'll Sort That 33/1, €3,500 3-y-o, Sandmason gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Marley Joe, stayed 19f. Dam (h73), showed aptitude only start over hurdles, 6f-1m winner on Flat. Newcomer probably best watched unless market suggests otherwise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (19) (25/1 -56%) Crescent Moon |
25/1(-56%) | (19) Crescent Moon 25/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, fifth of 15 in novice hurdle at Tramore (16.2f, heavy, 16/1) on hurdles bow 17 days ago. Should progress. Tame Tramore comeback run but has definite ability and improvement likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (125/1 -89%) Royal Reprobate |
125/1(-89%) | (13) Royal Reprobate 125/1, 80/1, eleventh of 18 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (19.4f, soft) on NH debut 10 days ago. One for later on. Stable second-choice, never sighted on Clonmel debut 10 days ago; likely to need more time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (8) (50/1 0%) Kared'as De Cougny |
50/1(0%) | (8) Kared'as De Cougny 50/1, Twice-raced maiden. Eighth of 11 in bumper at Tramore (16.2f, heavy, 16/1) 17 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Bumper debut promise at Tramore but poor effort since raises questions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (33/1 -136%) Scriabin |
33/1(-136%) | (14) Scriabin 33/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. Second of 8 in novice hurdle at Thurles (16.2f, good, 25/1) 15 days ago, very much having run of race. Just denied in weaker Thurles maiden last month; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (80/1 -100%) Nettuno Italia |
80/1(-100%) | (12) Nettuno Italia 80/1, Imperial Monarch gelding. Dam, point winner/ran twice over hurdles, half-sister to fairly useful 3m hurdle winner Kit Casey. Newcomer likely all the better for the experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (80/1 -60%) Gimme A Buzz |
80/1(-60%) | (6) Gimme A Buzz 80/1, Looks one for handicaps after this run. Hooded for 1st time. Big prices and well held on both maiden hurdle runs; hood now tried but best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (100/1 -203%) Marine Ranger |
100/1(-203%) | (11) Marine Ranger 100/1, Unpromising in bumpers and finished a well-beaten sixth of 14 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.4f, soft, 25/1) on hurdles bow 10 days ago. Debut bumper promise but hasn't progressed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (2) (125/1 -279%) Another Challenge |
125/1(-279%) | (2) Another Challenge 125/1, Showed nothing when seventh of 8 in maiden hurdle (11/2) at Naas (18.9f, good to soft) on NH debut 33 days ago. Disappointing Naas favourite on debut last month; questions to answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (16) (100/1 +0%) Tea In The Park |
100/1(+0%) | (16) Tea In The Park 100/1, €68,000 3-y-o, Walk In The Park gelding. Dam (c128/h126) 19f-3m hurdle/chase winner (stayed 3¼m). Made frame on last of 3 starts in points (Apr 28). Ordinary point-to-point form, best watched on Rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (3) (80/1 0%) Chef's Kiss |
80/1(0%) | (3) Chef's Kiss 80/1, Well held both starts in maiden hurdles. Points' winner but modest maiden hurdle form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (1) (200/1 -33%) Alright George |
200/1(-33%) | (1) Alright George 200/1, Well beaten in 3 maiden hurdles. Minor promise in a Limerick bumper but shown very little in three maiden hurdles since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (18) (150/1 -355%) Black Fern |
150/1(-355%) | (18) Black Fern 150/1, Looks one for later on. Beaten a long way on last month's hurdles debut at Naas when jumping let her down. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
KILGAME is one of two notable French imports and is helped by having prior hurdling experience. By the same sire as one of last season's leaving juveniles Kargese, the selection finished seven lengths second to the subsequently Grade 2-placed winner on Auteuil debut last March and it is encouraging he has a Grade 1 Christmas entry. Kel Histoire is similarly entered in that same Christmas race and was bought by current connections for 200,000 euros in November 2023, having won a 1m4f maiden at Saint-Brieuc. He will be well schooled for his jumps debut while his Flat win encouragingly came on very soft ground. Scriabin has recent form but might prove vulnerable to smart types while Van Demon is long absent.
KILGAME produced a promising first effort when runner-up to a useful sort in a juvenile hurdle at Auteuil back in March and, open to plenty of improvement on first start for Henry de Bromhead, he's taken to go one better. Kel Histoire is also a fascinating recruit having joined Willie Mullins' yard for €200,000 after winning his sole outing in bumpers in France, with Dutch Gold fancied to fill the places.
Two French recruits could dominate here, KEL HISTOIRE preferred to Kilgame

1st (1) (5/1 -43%) Country Mile |
5/1(-43%) | (1) Country Mile 5/1, Won a soft-ground Huntingdon bumper on Rules debut in April and he looked a useful prospect when a comfortable winner on hurdles debut at Ayr (2m) in October. Duly improved when 3 lengths second in 2m Haydock Grade 2 since, closing when bad mistake last. Definitely more to come. Could not get to the warm favourite in Grade 2 at Haydock after a final-flight mistake. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 +17%) Wingmen |
5/2(+17%) | (3) Wingmen 5/2, Smart bumper performer who made all on his 2½m Navan hurdle debut 4 weeks ago. Sure to improve for his top stable. Left-handed track and drop back in trip are niggling worries but he looks a good prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (16/1 -33%) Palacio |
16/1(-33%) | (2) Palacio 16/1, Didn't achieve much in bumpers last season but a different proposition switched to hurdles on his reappearance, making all in a 2m Chepstow novice. Harder to dominate this field. Made all at 20-1 in novice at Chepstow (2m, soft) two months ago on his hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/11 +17%) That's Nice |
10/11(+17%) | (4) That's Nice 10/11, Won her only outing in Irish points in February and, strong in the market, followed up in a Warwick novice hurdle for new connections 9 months later in the style of an exciting prospect. This is much more of a test but no shock if she extends her unbeaten record. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Wingmen is an interesting contender following his hurdling debut success at Navan, but he will need to improve in the jumping department and may prove better going the other way around. Country Mile finished runner-up in a Grade 2 at Haydock and commands the utmost respect, but THAT'S NICE might have the measure of him. An impressive winner at Warwick, the form has a solid look to it with the runner-up landing a Listed contest at Sandown and she can take advantage of the 7lb she receives from all of her rivals.
THAT'S NICE was notably strong in the betting up against a listed bumper winner when scoring in good style on her Warwick hurdle debut and can build on that significant promise and prove too good for Country Mile and Wingmen in a very interesting opener despite the small field.
This is very tight between all four on ratings but THAT'S NICE left a big impression with her Warwick win.

1st (2) (1/1 +50%) The Kniphand |
1/1(+50%) | (2) The Kniphand 1/1, Improved model switched to handicaps/upped to 3m over hurdles in 2022/23, gaining a third success at Market Rasen. Better than ever when making third chase start a winning one at Southwell in October and ran to a similar level when runner-up at Ludlow last month, albeit let down by his jumping. Emphatic winner at Southwell in October and ran big race in defeat last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 +39%) A Definite Getaway |
10/3(+39%) | (4) A Definite Getaway 10/3, Maiden over hurdles but got off the mark at the first time of asking over fences at Worcester in July. Resumed winning ways at Exeter in October before creditable third at Huntingdon (23.6f, good) just under 6 weeks ago. Up against unexposed rivals here. 2-5 since switched to fences in July; ran well last month; probably still on workable mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/1 -200%) Imperial Merlin |
9/1(-200%) | (1) Imperial Merlin 9/1, Fairly useful hurdler who wasn't disgraced when fifth of 12 in 22f Cartmel handicap in July. Matched previous form in this sphere after 4 months off when finding sole rival Autumn Return too strong at Newcastle (20.1f, good) 4 weeks ago (later found to have bled). Can do better still. Quite well handicapped on hurdle form but yet fully to convince over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (11/4 -57%) Lilting Verse |
11/4(-57%) | (3) Lilting Verse 11/4, Listed bumper winner who opened her account over hurdles at Ludlow (21.2f) 13 months ago. Exploits mixed thereafter that season, but she's made a solid start to her chasing career, going one better than on return at Huntingdon (23.6f, soft) recently (won on the nod). Should improve again. Narrow winner at Huntingdon last month; can improve again if jumping more fluently here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
LILTING VERSE showed a willing attitude to get back up at Huntingdon recently having been headed and the daughter of Yeats is taken to follow up off a 4lb higher mark. That said, first-time cheekpieces could sharpen up The Kniphand, who arrives following a creditable second at Ludlow. At the foot of the weights, A Definite Getaway can also make his presence felt.
A trappy contest but LILTING VERSE still looked a work in progress when coming out fractionally on top at Huntingdon just under 3 weeks ago, so Fergal O'Brien's mare gets the nod to progress again and take her tally to 2-3 in this sphere. The Kniphand has taken his form up a notch this season, so he's marginally preferred to Imperial Merlin for the forecast spot.
The vote goes to THE KNIPHAND, who looked in excellent nick when scoring at Southwell in October and was not discredited last time.

1st (1) (4/11 +67%) Classic Maestro |
4/11(+67%) | (1) Classic Maestro 4/11, Resumed his progress with emphatic win in 8-runner handicap hurdle at Wetherby (16f, heavy) 6 days ago. Saddles a 7 lb penalty but still not taken lightly. Got a soft lead when winning last week at Wetherby but he's been in form for a while now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (14/1 +22%) Bigz Belief |
14/1(+22%) | (6) Bigz Belief 14/1, On a lengthy losing run but he posted a creditable fourth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (19f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Visor on 1st time and not ruled out. In fair form but an infrequent winner and stuck on a losing run under both codes. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (8/1 +43%) Risk D'argent |
8/1(+43%) | (4) Risk D'argent 8/1, It's now 13 runs since his last win in 2021 and he was pulled up in handicap hurdle at Warwick (21f) when last seen out 9 months ago. Handily weighted if resurgent after his lay-off though with yard going well. Clear second at Warwick (2m, soft) last November and that was after a lengthy break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 +33%) Manowest |
12/1(+33%) | (5) Manowest 12/1, A fair maiden hurdler but he came in a below-par fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (2m4f) 17 days ago. This points winner needs to get back on track. Maiden efforts contained plenty of promise but he's offered nothing in two handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (28/1 -180%) Grey Diamond |
28/1(-180%) | (2) Grey Diamond 28/1, Useful handicap chaser at best but little impact in handful of starts for Gordon Elliott and he's not looked a winner in waiting in four starts for current connections. Others appeal more. He's not had the best of years and others are safer on this return to hurdling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CLASSIC MAESTRO improved greatly for his reappearance fifth at Warwick when making all in ready fashion at Wetherby six days ago. Edward Vaughan negates some of the 7lb penalty with his 3lb claim and a quick double could be in the offing for Jennie Candlish's inmate. Seasonal debutant Risk D'Argent started off his last campaign with a good second at Warwick and could go well. Bigz Belief is also worth a second look.
GENTLEMAN BILL looked to have more to offer when going in over C&D last month so is fancied to make a winning start in handicaps at the chief expense of recent Wetherby victor Classic Maestro. Risk d'Argent is weighted to have a say too if ready to roll after his absence.
He probably was flattered by an easy lead last week at Wetherby but CLASSIC MAESTRO is a likeable type who can make another bold bid.

1st (12) (3/1 -140%) Relieved Of Duties |
3/1(-140%) | (12) Relieved Of Duties 3/1, Turned over at short odds in a bumper and the same happened on hurdling bow at Thurles (15.9f, good to soft) 2 weeks ago, losing out only on the nod. Should be bang there again. Only caught on post by more experienced rival in 2m Thurles maiden last month; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (17) (6/5 +4%) Magic Mccolgan |
6/5(+4%) | (17) Magic Mccolgan 6/5, Bumper winner on second start at Leopardstown in March. Possibly amiss when tailed-off last in Grade 3 bumper at Punchestown 7 months ago but makes plenty of appeal now hurdling with Paul Townend taking over in the saddle. Sister to Tornado Flyer; smart bumper form last season and big player now on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (100/1 0%) He's Gorgeous |
100/1(0%) | (4) He's Gorgeous 100/1, 40/1, wasn't seen to best effect when sixth of 14 in bumper at Clonmel (16.2f, soft), left poorly placed. Off 7 months. Makes hurdles debut. Fair form in bumpers; back from summer's break and probably best watched on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (4/1 +84%) Mic Drop |
4/1(+84%) | (10) Mic Drop 4/1, Bumper winner at Clonmel last month. 16/1, didn't get home making hurdling bow when tailed-off ninth of 20 in maiden at Tipperary (20.4f, soft) 3 weeks ago, finishing tired. Back down in trip. Clonmel bumper winner didn't appear to stay 2m5f on hurdles bow; drop in trip to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (4/1 +71%) His Nibs |
4/1(+71%) | (5) His Nibs 4/1, Fair hurdler. Well-held seventh of 25 in maiden at Navan (16f, soft) 6 days ago. Will be better off in handicaps. Bumper promise but seems more likely type for handicaps on hurdling evidence so far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (15) (100/1 -100%) Are You Busy |
100/1(-100%) | (15) Are You Busy 100/1, Milan mare. Dam (c104/h114) 21f/2¾m hurdle winner (stayed 25f). Third on second of 2 starts in points (Dec 2023). Placed on second point-to-point a year ago; stoutly-bred and will appreciate further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (100/1 -52%) Sheriffhill |
100/1(-52%) | (13) Sheriffhill 100/1, Seemingly being brought along with handicaps in mind, never better than mid-field but not knocked about in 2 maiden hurdles. Well beaten in two maiden hurdles; eligible for a mark after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (18) (33/1 0%) Paul's Dream |
33/1(0%) | (18) Paul's Dream 33/1, Mahler mare. Dam fairly useful 2m-2½m hurdle winner, also 1¾m winner on Flat. Likely outsider on debut. Newcomer best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (28/1 -75%) Justlikefire |
28/1(-75%) | (9) Justlikefire 28/1, Doyen gelding. Brother to fairly useful hurdler Killeemore Lad. Dam unraced half-sister to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 3¼m) Merry Path. Brother to 2m3f hurdle winner Killeemore Lad; market likely best guide on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (66/1 -32%) Wrecking Ballbilly |
66/1(-32%) | (14) Wrecking Ballbilly 66/1, Bumper winner but no promise in both starts over hurdles so far (stiff task first occasion) and he'll make minimal appeal this side of handicaps. Two recent hurdle runs not encouraging and best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (25/1 -79%) Ifyouaskme |
25/1(-79%) | (8) Ifyouaskme 25/1, Bred more for stamina than speed but offered something to work on when fourth of 11 in maiden hurdle (17/2) at Limerick (16.3f, good to soft) on debut 54 days ago. Some promise on belated debut in 2m Limerick maiden in October, looking in need of further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (125/1 -25%) Choose Your Answer |
125/1(-25%) | (2) Choose Your Answer 125/1, Jumped none too fluently when tailed off in maiden hurdle at Tipperary (20.4f, soft) on debut 3 weeks ago. Down in trip. Huge price when completely tailed off on debut at Tipperary last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (100/1 -52%) Raby Mere |
100/1(-52%) | (11) Raby Mere 100/1, Placed on second start in bumpers and might have needed the run after 4 months off when tailed-off sixth of 7 in maiden hurdle at Thurles (20.7f, good, 40/1) 15 days ago. Down in trip. Tended to jump left when well held on hurdles debut at Thurles recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (16) (80/1 +20%) Calypso Bluebird |
80/1(+20%) | (16) Calypso Bluebird 80/1, Tongue strap on, fourteenth of 15 in maiden hurdle at Tramore (16.6f, good to soft, 100/1) on debut 7 months ago. Never counted when a 100-1 shot at Tramore back in April; can only be watched on return. |

15th (6) (125/1 -25%) Hitthehayson |

16th (1) (100/1 -52%) Beefeater |
100/1(-52%) | (1) Beefeater 100/1, Tailed off in 2 maiden hurdles. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Modest maiden in points and well held twice in maiden hurdles; tongue-tie tried. |

17th (7) (40/1 +20%) I Ballyadam Moon |
40/1(+20%) | (7) I Ballyadam Moon 40/1, 80/1, showed more than first time up over hurdles when sixth of 18 in maiden at Clonmel (19.4f, soft) 10 days ago. Most recent of two maiden hurdle runs was encouraging; more needed though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (3) (33/1 +0%) Faceman |
33/1(+0%) | (3) Faceman 33/1, 14/1, went backwards from hurdling bow when tailed-off ninth of 14 in maiden at Limerick (16f, soft) 24 days ago. Fairyhouse run encouraging but Limerick effort since disappointing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MAGIC MCCOLGAN disappointed on her last bumper start in May but had previously shown smart ability and should do well over hurdles. A sister to King George VI Chase winner Tornado Flyer, she was Listed-runner-up at Fairyhouse in March, is clearly much better than her latest Punchestown showing and contests a winnable maiden on her jumps debut. Relieved Of Duties has recent hurdling form having been beaten a nose when conceding 5lb to the winner at Thurles last month but might find the selection too strong. Prior to that Thurles run, he had finished third to today's rival Mic Drop in a Clonmel bumper but Mic Drop has since disappointed.
Lots of deadwood in this maiden and it looks a match between MAGIC MCCOLGAN and Relieved of Duties, with preference for the former having shown fairly useful form in bumpers last season. Gordon Elliot's charge has been turned over at short odds in a bumper and maiden hurdle, but he won't allow the selection to have it all her own way, while Ifyouaskme and Mic Drop can fight out minor honours.
Relieved Of Duties has a major chance but may have to give best to MAGIC MCCOLGAN, who had smart form in bumpers last term

1st (5) (7/4 +36%) Jango Baie |
7/4(+36%) | (5) Jango Baie 7/4, Irish point recruit who won first 2 starts over hurdles, latterly the Grade 1 Formby at Aintree on Boxing Day. Runner-up all 3 starts thereafter, posting a fine effort in circumstances in big-field handicap (20f) at the National Meeting in April. Exciting prospect for chasing. Grade 1-winning hurdler and consistent; brings stacks of potential to his chase career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/2 -8%) Springwell Bay |
13/2(-8%) | (1) Springwell Bay 13/2, Very useful hurdler who made a winning return/chase debut at Chepstow (19.5f) in October and similar form despite not settling when third in 4-runner in listed company here (24.5f) 4 weeks ago. Returns to shorter now and he remains open to improvement. Smart hurdler; impressed on chase debut; too keen and didn't get home over 3m here latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/10 -21%) Caldwell Potter |
11/10(-21%) | (2) Caldwell Potter 11/10, Highly promising sort who quickly reached a smart level over hurdles for Gordon Elliott, winning Grade 1 at Leopardstown last winter. Perfect start for new yard when winning Carlisle novice chase (2m) with plenty to spare 12 days ago and he's evidently a leading prospect in this sphere. Up in trip. Bought for 740,000euros after Grade 1 hurdle win in Ireland; unextended on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (8/1 -23%) Deafening Silence |
8/1(-23%) | (4) Deafening Silence 8/1, Point winner who boasted a record of 2-3 over hurdles, including Grade 2 success at Sandown (19.8f) last winter. Shaped very well after a year off when third in Haydock Graduation chase (21.6f) 3 weeks ago. Looks sure to improve for that initial experience. Grade 2-winning hurdler and lots to like about recent chase debut (after an absence). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (200/1 -60%) Ballymackie |
200/1(-60%) | (3) Ballymackie 200/1, Picked up for £160,000 after winning a couple of Irish points early last year. Stiff task both starts 12 months apart under Rules so far, latterly when coming home last of 8 behind L'eau du Sud in Grade 2 here (15.9f) 4 weeks ago. Up in trip now but this another very tall ask. Winning pointer but tailed off in two chases and he's again in deep here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Caldwell Potter justified odds of 2/11 at Carlisle on his first attempt over fences and is expected to appreciate stepping up in trip. However, all of his best form has come with plenty of cut in the ground and a lack of rain in the forecast would have to be a concern. With that in mind, SPRINGWELL BAY is taken to gain a second victory over fences to complement his Listed success at Chepstow in October. He didn't seem to quite see out an extended 3m at the November Meeting and the return to this distance is likely to see him in a better light. Jango Baie was a smart hurdler who has the scope to go far over the larger obstacles and may end up being the main threat to the selection.
Having marked himself down as a leading novice hurdler for Gordon Elliott last term, CALDWELL POTTER made the perfect start for new connections with a smooth chase debut success at Carlisle 12 days ago. Open to above-average improvement, he's fancied to follow-up over this longer trip. Jango Baie, on reappearance/chase bow, and Deafening Silence can emerge next best.
The 5yo JANGO BAIE lacks chasing experience but his hurdle form was right up there and he must have schooled well to be starting here.

1st (6) (5/1 +58%) Sauce Of Life |
5/1(+58%) | (6) Sauce Of Life 5/1, Dual bumper winner back in 2021. Lightly raced since, though did shape as if retaining ability after 6 months off when fourth in 9-runner handicap at Perth (20.2f) 79 days ago. Needs to build on it. Very lightly raced 9yo who returned from latest break with respectable fourth in September. |

2nd (4) (5/6 +67%) Court Cian |
5/6(+67%) | (4) Court Cian 5/6, On the up for his current yard and he bgged 7-runner handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good to soft) 27 days ago. Up 7 lb but he has to be taken seriously. Off the mark under rules with pretty convincing handicap win at Uttoxeter last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (18/1 -100%) Willie Shake Hands |
18/1(-100%) | (7) Willie Shake Hands 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, excellent fourth of 9 in novice hurdle at Newcastle (16.2f, good) 13 days ago, left poorly placed. Should have more to offer now handicapping. Considered. Fourth in quite valuable 2m maiden last month; up in trip for handicap debut; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/1 -125%) Charging Thunder |
9/1(-125%) | (1) Charging Thunder 9/1, Fairly useful on the Flat and he made a winning hurdles debut at Fakenham before following up at Sedgefield last month. Must enter calculations now going into handicaps. Useful Flat racer; probably fortunate to be 2-2 over hurdles but still strongly considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (17/2 +39%) Model Approach |
17/2(+39%) | (8) Model Approach 17/2, Fairly useful maiden on Flat for Jim Bolger and has made a bright start to his hurdles career, making all in juveniles at Sedgefield and Kempton in October. Well-held eighth at Cheltenham last time but can bounce back now handicapping. Dual juvenile hurdle winner in October; up in trip and against older rivals on h'cap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (17/2 -21%) Windsurfer |
17/2(-21%) | (2) Windsurfer 17/2, Got off the mark at Uttoxeter in October and backed it up with a respectable fourth of 11 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (16f, good) 21 days ago. Up in trip for his handicap debut. No forlorn hope. 2m novice winner in October; up in trip for handicap debut; should have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (80/1 -142%) Star Turn |
80/1(-142%) | (9) Star Turn 80/1, Modest form at best on the Flat and over hurdles for Alan King, including well beaten on handicap hurdle debut here in January. Best watched for new yard unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Absent since disappointing handicap debut in January; now with new yard; market may guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (12/1 -20%) Ikigai Star |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Ikigai Star 12/1, Won a 2m Huntingdon maiden in May and even better form in handicaps this autumn, getting his head back in front at Southwell in October. Not in same form when third at Kempton (2m) last time but cheekpieces on/up in trip now. Dual 2m winner this season; held off this mark latest; up in trip with cheekpieces added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Useful Flat performer CHARGING THUNDER has made a seamless transition to hurdles, recording wide-margin wins at Fakenham and Sedgefield. Given his ability on the level, an opening mark of 115 could prove to be extremely lenient and he's taken to land the hat-trick. Uttoxeter scorer Court Cian might be the main danger despite a 7lb rise, while Ikigai Star, who sports cheekpieces for the first time, is another to consider.
COURT CIAN has improved with each run since joining Stuart Edmunds so is fancied to make light of a 7 lb weights rise for his Uttoxeter success. Handicap-debutant Willie Shake Hands looks to have better days ahead of him and rates a big threat though, with Charging Thunder also much respected along with Diamond Dealer.
The pick is COURT CIAN, who travelled well before asserting at Uttoxeter four weeks ago and might use that success as a springboad.

1st (1) (1/2 +25%) Excelero |
1/2(+25%) | (1) Excelero 1/2, Runner-up at Warwick on debut, then chased home Sir Gino at Cheltenham (fourth) before scoring at Market Rasen in March. Shaped as if needing the run after 7 months off on handicap debut at Newbury (16.3f) recently and remains a potential improver back in a novice (carries a penalty). Useful juvenile hurdler last season; can be excused comeback defeat in strong handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/2 +9%) Atlantic Lad |
5/2(+9%) | (2) Atlantic Lad 5/2, Had finished a well-held second on the second of 2 starts in points earlier in the year and, despite being at long odds, made an encouraging debut in this sphere when third of 14 in novice hurdle over C&D (heavy) in October. Can be expected to build on that here. Encouraging third over C&D in a race that's worked out well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (13/2 -18%) Law Of The Sea |
13/2(-18%) | (6) Law Of The Sea 13/2, Fairly useful staying handicapper on the Flat who was given a considerate introduction to hurdling when seventh of 13 at Uttoxeter (15.8f) in October. Duly improved for that when fifth at Chepstow later that month and is the type to progress further in this sphere. Not as good as he was (on the Flat) but latest Chepstow form brings him right into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (25/1 0%) Bobby's Fortune |
25/1(0%) | (3) Bobby's Fortune 25/1, Bought out of Tjade Collier's yard for just £3,000 and made a winning start in a Ludlow bumper (15.8f, soft) in October 2023. Safely held on hurdles debut at Kempton the following month and couldn't be said to have shaped with any promise after 13 months off at Hereford recently. It was a modest bumper he won at Ludlow and very opposable on early hurdling exploits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (125/1 -468%) Bo Cruz |
125/1(-468%) | (4) Bo Cruz 125/1, Had finished runner-up on his completed start in Irish points but achieved nothing on his debut under Rules in maiden hurdle at Carlisle last month. Needs to leave that well behind. Easy to back for a maiden at Carlisle and was tailed off; looks the stable second string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (33/1 +50%) Good Company |
33/1(+50%) | (5) Good Company 33/1, Dragon Dancer gelding who hinted at ability prior to his departure (also unseated rider on way to start) when falling 2 out in novice hurdle at this C&D (soft) on debut last month. Yard going great guns but he's possibly one for later on. Unseated his rider before start here a month ago and then fell two out when well held. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (200/1 -400%) Adaaylight Dancer |
200/1(-400%) | (7) Adaaylight Dancer 200/1, A prolific winner on the Flat in Spain but offered little on yard/hurdling debut after 15 months off at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to soft) 6 weeks ago. Had a wind op since and it's easy to look elsewhere. Flat winner in Spain; pulled up on hurdle debut after 15 months away; had wind op. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
EXCELERO shouldn't be judged too harshly on his ninth-placed effort in The Gerry Feilden at Newbury last month and he's entitled to strip fitter for that return effort. The four-year-old is likely to prove far more competitive reverting to novice company and he edges the vote over Atlantic Lad. Donald McCain's gelding posted a respectable third on his Rules bow over C&D 45 days ago and improvement is expected. Law Of The Sea is also noted.
EXCELERO shaped as if needing the run on return/handicap debut at Newbury recently and, back down in grade, Jane Williams' charge has an excellent opportunity to double her career tally. Atlantic Lad made an encouraging debut in this sphere when third over C&D in October so heads up the opposition, with Law of The Sea another potential improver having had just a couple of starts over hurdles.
This is worlds away from the strong handicap that EXCELERO contested at Newbury last month and he can give the weight away.

Eve's Hope |
(2) (15/2 -7%)15/2(-7%) | (2) Eve's Hope 15/2, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Career best when winning 14-runner novice hurdle (20/1) at Clonmel (16.4f, soft) 10 days ago, travelling strongly. Could improve again switched to handicaps. Long-priced maiden winner at Clonmel ten days ago, jumped well, opening mark seems fair. |

85/40(+75%) | (11) Robbies Rock 85/40, Fairly useful Flat winner. Yet to match that over hurdles but switches to handicaps now for potentially lenient mark. In good hands and worth taking a chance on. Fair third on hurdles debut at Killarney in July, has failed to match that form last twice. |

2nd (12) (6/1 +40%) Wardens Whisper |
6/1(+40%) | (12) Wardens Whisper 6/1, Third of 19 in handicap hurdle at Tipperary (16.5f, soft, 40/1) 21 days ago. Not ruled out. Showed dramatic improvement when big-priced third at Tipperary, form franked by runner-up. |

3rd (8) (9/1 -29%) Star Official |
9/1(-29%) | (8) Star Official 9/1, Creditable third of 15 in handicap hurdle (9/1) at Clonmel (16.4f, soft) 10 days ago, keeping on well. Enters calculations. 1-19 over hurdles, ran his best race for a while when third at Clonmel ten days ago. |

5th (10) (12/1 +40%) Bid Up |
12/1(+40%) | (10) Bid Up 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 17 in juvenile hurdle (18/1) at Galway (16.4f, good to soft) 48 days ago. Booking of Harney a plus. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Could do better. Closely matched with Robbies Rock on Galway running, first handicap for the pair now. |

6th (14) (10/1 +17%) Road To The Weir |
10/1(+17%) | (14) Road To The Weir 10/1, 8/1, excellent third of 11 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (16f, soft) 24 days ago. Can make presence felt. Lightly raced for a horse of his age, much improved when keeping on for third at Limerick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (8/1 -60%) Expelliarmus |
8/1(-60%) | (3) Expelliarmus 8/1, Just modest form over hurdles to date but handicapped now and should strip fitter for recent return on the Flat. 104 is lenient based on exploits on the level, so definite player. Encouraging effort on AW at Dundalk last week, should be spot on for this, cheekpieces. |

8th (15) (18/1 +10%) Dontdooddson |
18/1(+10%) | (15) Dontdooddson 18/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2021. Below form sixth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (16f, soft, 8/1) 24 days ago. Needs to bounce back. 2-16 over fences, 1-16 over hurdles, not the most consistent sort and getting on in years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (16/1 +36%) Gamigin |
16/1(+36%) | (4) Gamigin 16/1, Latest win in hurdle at Kilbeggan in August. Pulled up in handicap hurdle at Navan (20.2f, good to soft, 40/1) 27 days ago, pulled up after 2 out. Back down in trip. Others make more appeal. Ended poor run of form with Kilbeggan win in August, pulled up over a longer trip at Navan. |

18/1(-112%) | (9) Red Trail 18/1, 11/1, sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (16f, soft) 24 days ago. Others more persuasive. Four-time Flat winner, unconvincing hurdles form apart from one good run early last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (28/1 -12%) Phoenix Cowboy |
28/1(-12%) | (5) Phoenix Cowboy 28/1, Tenth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (20.2f, good to soft, 7/1) 14 days ago. Others are more appealing. Three-time Flat winner; relatively most hurdles form though ran well on penultimate start. |

25/1(-79%) | (6) Whotookthebiscuit 25/1, Winner in hurdle at Clonmel in December 2023. 14/1, fell in novice chase at Clonmel (20f, good) on debut over fences. Off 6 months. Switches from chase to hurdles. Others more persuasive. Won a modest maiden hurdle on heavy at Clonmel last December, fell in a chase in June. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
WARDENS WHISPER showed much improved form on his second handicap start last month and can progress further. His initial form was poor but having made much of the running at Tipperary recently, finished his race quite well while the race has been boosted by his stablemate runner-up scoring next time. Expelliarmus returned from 405 days off when running well on the all-weather last week and had shown promise in juvenile hurdles in 2023. She might ideally prefer a sound surface but has a favourable rating. Eve's Hope defeated a proven 104-rated runner-up to score at Clonmel 10 days ago and should compete on handicap debut while useful Flat performer Robbies Rock debuts in a handicap hurdle but is just a three-year-old.
ROBBIES ROCK is with a shrewd handler and looks potentially well in based on Flat form having his first go in a handicap hurdle, so he's marginally preferred to Expelliarmus, who fits a similar mould. Star Official should also be competitive.
If maintaining the improvement shown at Tipperary, WARDENS WHISPER will be hard to beat. The form has been boosted by a stablemate

1st (12) (10/1 +50%) Mirabad |
10/1(+50%) | (12) Mirabad 10/1, Fairly useful on Flat in France and he has scored twice over hurdles for his current handler, easily bagging 2m Hereford novice last month. Creditable third of 9 on 2m Ascot handicap debut since, every chance until mistake last. 3rd of nine off this mark on handicap hurdle debut at Ascot (good); heading the right way. |

2nd (10) (4/1 +38%) Wreckless Eric |
4/1(+38%) | (10) Wreckless Eric 4/1, Confirmed the promise of his reappearance when winning a competitive 2m handicap here last month by a length from the reopposing Cavern Club. Plenty to like about the way he came through have still been well back off the home turn and an 8 lb rise shouldn't prevent another good run. Up 8lb but strong late bid for his win here leaves the possibility of further improvement. |

3rd (2) (7/1 +50%) Bo Zenith |
7/1(+50%) | (2) Bo Zenith 7/1, Promising juvenile hurdler for Gary Moore in 2023, winning twice and second in Grade 1 at Aintree final start. Has a very long absence to overcome but still has time on his side and it'll be interesting to see how he goes in the market on this first outing for Nicky Henderson. Short-headed in 4yo Grade 1 at Aintree in April 2023 latest; left Gary Moore (same owner). |

4th (6) (7/1 -8%) To Chase A Dream |
7/1(-8%) | (6) To Chase A Dream 7/1, Yet to finish out of the first 2 in 8 starts over hurdles. Winner of a pair of 17f Carlisle handicaps this season, latterly by a comfortable 6½ lengths. This is undoubtedly a stronger race but he's 3 lb well-in compared to his future mark under a 7 lb penalty. On a four-timer, having been impressive at Carlisle (soft) 12 days ago; 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (25/1 -39%) Spirits Bay |
25/1(-39%) | (9) Spirits Bay 25/1, Useful dual bumper winner who took well to hurdling last season, winning novice and handicap over 17f at Exeter. Shaped like a non-stayer when fifth over 19f at Newbury final start and drops back in trip for reappearance. All eight races have been on softer than good, winning four; could resume improvement. |

6th (8) (11/2 +54%) Tintintin |
11/2(+54%) | (8) Tintintin 11/2, Made good strides forward last season, typically proving strong at the finish to land a big-field handicap over C&D in April. Back to his best when 7 lengths fourth in a strong renewal of the Greatwood here last month and should give another good account. Third/fourth in the Swinton at Haydock and Greatwood here on two of his last three outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (15) (14/1 -17%) Cavern Club |
14/1(-17%) | (15) Cavern Club 14/1, A fairly useful Flat winner who made a successful start over hurdles at Cartmel (17f) in July. Advanced his form in cheekpieces when length second of 15 to Wreckless Eric in 2m course handicap last month. Raised another 5 lb but further progress can't be discounted. Second of 15 to Wreckless Eric in handicap here (2m, good) on just fourth hurdles start. |

8th (7) (18/1 -13%) Media Naranja |
18/1(-13%) | (7) Media Naranja 18/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023 but he has run creditable to reach the frame in handicap hurdles at Navan and Fairyhouse in recent weeks. Top Irish stable's runners always respected. Back to some form 12 days ago but needs peak form to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (125/1 -150%) Lively Citizen |
125/1(-150%) | (14) Lively Citizen 125/1, Won this in 2021 and showed he's still quite useful when scoring in the mud at Ffos Las last spring. Offered little on last month's Haydock reappearance, though, and likely vulnerable to younger legs in this strong race. Won this race in 2021 but probably too exposed for a second win in it today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (17/2 -143%) Willmount |
17/2(-143%) | (5) Willmount 17/2, Expensive winning pointer who created a good impression when winning his first 3 starts under Rules. Pulled up when sent off at 9/4 for the Grade 1 Challow at Newbury last December. Retains plenty of potential on his return and market confidence would look significant. Absent since pulled up in the Grade 1 Challow at Newbury (second favourite) last December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (9/2 -50%) Valgrand |
9/2(-50%) | (1) Valgrand 9/2, Useful in bumpers and won first 3 starts over hurdles, including a Grade 2 novice over C&D in October. Lost his unbeaten hurdle record when unable to live with Potters Charm in a 21f Grade 2 back here last month but still much respected back down in trip for handicap debut. This is a competitive race for handicap debut but he's back in trip and a useful novice. |

11th (3) (40/1 +0%) Joyeux Machin |
40/1(+0%) | (3) Joyeux Machin 40/1, Useful hurdler and chaser at his best for Paul Nolan in Ireland but has struggled in varied events in 2024. Has joined the right yard to revitalise him but Valgrand has to be considered the stable's first string unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. May well prove best watched under 7lb claimer on today's debut for new connections. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (18/1 -29%) Anyharminasking |
18/1(-29%) | (4) Anyharminasking 18/1, Useful hurdler who was a creditable third of 13 over 2½m here on his reappearance but went backwards from that when a remote fourth at Newbury (2½m again) since. Back down in trip. Second-time cheekpieces (off now) when well beaten 13 days ago; more exposed than a few. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (100/1 -100%) Magic Seven |
100/1(-100%) | (13) Magic Seven 100/1, Capitalised on a falling mark in 10-runner handicap hurdle at Exeter (17f, good, 10/1) in November. Respectable third of 9 at Huntingdon since but this looks a much stronger race. Back-to-form win at Exeter (2m, good); respectable third at Huntingdon 15 days later. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Nico De Boinville partners Willmount instead of the same owner's Bo Zenith of the Nicky Henderson pair, with the former making his first appearance since pulling up in last season's Challow. It remains to be seen if he is well handicapped or not off a mark of 130, while his stablemate returns from an even longer layoff having gone close in a Grade 1 juvenile event at Aintree when trained by Gary Moore. Wreckless Eric went up 8lb for scoring here last month and is capable of taking another step forward, as is the four-timer seeking To Chase A Dream, but TINTINTIN may offer some value. A C&D winner in April, he was far from disgraced when fourth in a strong renewal of the Greatwood and the switch to the New Course promises to bring about further improvement.
A really strong handicap. TO CHASE A DREAM had seconditis at the start of his hurdle career but has now discovered the winning habit and a 7 lb penalty for his recent Carlisle success may not prevent him making it 4 in a row. Valgrand, a C&D Grade 2 novice winner this autumn, heads the many dangers ahead of Willmount, a fascinating handicap newcomer from the Henderson yard, and Greatwood-fourth Tintintin.
The same connections run the eyecatching pair Willmount and Bo Zenith, but WRECKLESS ERIC gets the vote from Mirabad.

1st (3) (9/2 +44%) Homme Public |
9/2(+44%) | (3) Homme Public 9/2, Multiple winner over hurdles and very useful form over fences last season, including a Grade 2 win. Lost his way over fences at the start of this season but took a step back in the right direction when fifth of 11 in 2½m Bangor handicap hurdle last month. Claims if he can build on that. Triple chase winner last season but just a respectable fifth over hurdles last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (18/1 -125%) Dargiannini |
18/1(-125%) | (1) Dargiannini 18/1, Well prepared to make a winning return to action at Kempton (21f) 13 months ago but missed the remainder of the campaign and low-key efforts upon returning in recent months, well-beaten last of 4 back in corresponding race 26 days ago. Tough to assess at present. Back from layoff with two disappointing runs this autumn; now has a point to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (8/1 -33%) War Soldier |
8/1(-33%) | (6) War Soldier 8/1, Notched a first win in handicap company at Wetherby (2½m) in February. Below par on his final 2 starts of last season but bounced back to best when a close third (Coniston George neck ahead in second) on Carlisle (17f) on reappearance 24 days ago. Player if showing up here in similar form. Ended last season with two poor runs but ran big race in defeat when back in action. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (9/4 +36%) Coniston George |
9/4(+36%) | (7) Coniston George 9/4, Maiden/novice hurdle winner who has recorded good placed efforts in all 3 handicaps, on the latest finishing narrowly ahead of the reopposing War Soldier at Carlisle (17f). Back up in trip. Developing a likeable profile and should go well. Dual novice winner; placed in all three handicaps and still unexposed over this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/1 -50%) Santos Blue |
9/1(-50%) | (2) Santos Blue 9/1, Likeable type who resumed progress during second half of last term, winning over 2½m in the mud at Wetherby and Uttoxeter. Stil looks on a competitive mark if fully primed for this reappearance. Signed off with a win in March but will need to hit the ground running here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (16/5 -7%) Pyramid Place |
16/5(-7%) | (4) Pyramid Place 16/5, Landed an eighth handicap hurdle success of his career when seeing off 3 rivals over 21f at Kempton last month. That was only his second start for Olly Murphy and it's possible he could have more to come for his new stable. Cruised clear for Kempton win last month but the value of the form is questionable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (18/1 -29%) Rafferty's Return |
18/1(-29%) | (5) Rafferty's Return 18/1, Front runner who landed a pair of handicap hurdles in early 2024. Held when falling 2 out on his Wetherby reappearance but he should come on for the run. Dual winner last season; on a workable mark but was held when falling heavily last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (8/1 +0%) Arqoob |
8/1(+0%) | (8) Arqoob 8/1, Won a 2m Sandown handicap last winter. Also recorded some good placed efforts in the spring but he's been well below par in 2 comeback outings this autumn. A subsequent wind operation needs to have had a positive effect. Latest run was better than 32l defeat might suggest and he had a wind op soon afterwards. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
PYRAMID PLACE scored cosily at Kempton last month, creating the impression he can add to his already healthy strike-rate over hurdles. Given that was just his second start for Olly Murphy and with Beau Morgan's claim helping in the plate, the son of Authorized is well equipped to follow up. Fellow last-time-out winner Santos Blue is feared most, although Coniston George is dangerous to rule out.
A tight handicap. CONISTON GEORGE has the potential for a bit better again now stepping back up in trip and is narrowly preferred to War Soldier, who was just behind him at Carlisle last time, and November's Kempton scorer Pyramid Place.
It might pay to focus on CONISTON GEORGE and War Soldier, who both went close in the same 2m1f Carlisle handicap 24 days ago.

1st (4) (16/5 +4%) New Found Fame |
16/5(+4%) | (4) New Found Fame 16/5, Not won since hurdles debut. Mark has fallen significantly but more like it when second to a well-backed rival at Hereford last month (hung left), Cheekpieces will help his cause and looks to have a big chance here off a 1 lb higher mark. On a losing run but beat all bar a well-backed winner last time at Hereford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/2 -13%) Saint Cyr De Pail |
9/2(-13%) | (6) Saint Cyr De Pail 9/2, Won a maiden hurdle at Exeter in April. Found it tougher in a stronger race at Worcester 6 months later but that race has worked out well. Steps back up in trip for handicap debut following short break and one to consider given he's unexposed. Penalised in a fair race last time; doesn't look overburdened mark-wise for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 +9%) Rock Hurley |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Rock Hurley 5/1, Won pair of 4-y-o hurdles in France but has been well below that level for current connections. Latest run (fifth of 10 at Carlisle 32 days ago) was off the back of a 9-month break. He's entitled to come on for that effort, but he'll need to if he's going to be competitive here. Disappointing since arriving from France and has to find something from somewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/4 -10%) Atreides |
11/4(-10%) | (5) Atreides 11/4, Remains a maiden but ran career best when second at Ffos Las 23 days ago (soft) travelling like the winner in the home straight before being worn down close home. Should relish similar ground conditions here and rates a major player. Now 0-13 under rules but won't be far away with a repeat of his last run at Ffos Las. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/1 +10%) Greatness Awaits |
9/1(+10%) | (2) Greatness Awaits 9/1, Scored at Newton Abbot in June when with Ben Pauling yard. Underperformed on the Flat on debut for new connections but ran with promise 18 days ago when stretched by longer trip. Should benefit from the drop back in distance and is entitled to be involved in the shake up with yard going well. Consistent for Ben Pauling; 3m looked too far last time but ran well for a long way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (6/1 +33%) Streamsforth Lad |
6/1(+33%) | (8) Streamsforth Lad 6/1, Bettered previous hurdles efforts when fourth of 8 in maiden at Uttoxeter in January but reportedly suffered with a breathing problem on his handicap bow the following month. Returning from 296 day break and one to monitor in the betting with trainer that does well with similar types. Now in a new yard and remains relatively unexposed; worth a glance in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (250/1 -525%) It Could Be You |
250/1(-525%) | (1) It Could Be You 250/1, Won a claiming hurdle in Ireland in the spring but pulled up at Punchestown in June. Made little impression on first start for new yard last month. Tongue tie back on but hard to fancy. 125-1 and finished tailed off at Chepstow on stable debut; tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (25/1 -56%) Jo Arengeot Bey Aa |
25/1(-56%) | (7) Jo Arengeot Bey Aa 25/1, Fetched £50,000 after winning his sole start in points. Disappointing in novice hurdles and well beaten on handicap debut/reappearance. Hopes rest on application of blinkers. Tailed off on handicap debut, now tries blinkers and Brian Hughes jumps ship. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Atreides has proved expensive to follow in his 13 starts under Rules, but the six-year-old is unlikely to be far away if reproducing his latest second at Ffos Las. With that being said, NEW FOUND FAME only gave way in the closing stages over an extended 2m5f at Hereford 31 days ago and a drop in distance may prove fruitful. Market support for stable debutant Streamsforth Lad would be interesting.
ATREIDES caught the eye in a stronger event at Ffos Las last time and he’s taken to go one better here. New Found Fame is respected as the main danger having posted his best effort for a while at Hereford. Greatness Awaits shaped with promise at Ludlow and will benefit from the drop in distance, while Streamsforth Lad is one to note in the betting for a yard that does well with new recruits.
Preference is for SAINT CYR DE PAIL who looks open to improvement on his handicap debut.

2nd (7) (3/1 -9%) Full Of Life |
3/1(-9%) | (7) Full Of Life 3/1, £70,000 buy after easily winning sole point start in March. Interesting runner. Winning favourite at Borris House in March on only point-to-point start, in top stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (11/1 +45%) Lady Of The Locke |
11/1(+45%) | (9) Lady Of The Locke 11/1, Bumper winner. Fair third on hurdle debut in March but not in the same form at Tipperary (20.4f, soft, 125/1) 8 months later. Needs to leave that well behind. Debut bumper winner on heavy ground at Thurles, first of two hurdle runs was satisfactory. |

9/2(+0%) | (12) Neon Diamond 9/2, Thrice-raced winner in bumpers. Winner in bumper at Limerick in April. Off 7 months. Makes hurdles debut. Up in trip. Twice second in points; solid bumper form before found wanting in a Grade 3 contest. |

50/1(+24%) | (4) Ellies Rock 50/1, Champs Elysees mare. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser Thunder Rock and modest hurdler Sir Rock. Noteworthy as a half-sister to the talented Thunder Rock, from a good staying family. |

25/1(+0%) | (6) Firm Belief 25/1, Fair Flat winner. Thrice-raced maiden over hurdles. Fair winner at 14f on flat. Pulled up in novice hurdle (22/1) at Fairyhouse (16f, good) 67 days ago, pulled up before 2 out. Up in trip. 1m6f Navan winner off modest mark last year, unconvincing hurdles form this season. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Hurdling debutant BARNAHASH PRIMROSE might prefer soft ground but is smart. She disappointed in March but had previously finished third at Grade 2 level last February and had reportedly been schooled for an initial point-to-point beginning. Winning pointer Fancy Girl returns from a layoff but finished fourth in that aforementioned Grade 2 Leopardstown bumper in 2023. She probably lacks high-class ability and would also prefer soft, but has enough size to do well over jumps. Penelope's Charm was ahead of the selection when finishing Listed-placed last March but disappointed since and was well held on her hurdling debut. Drying ground will suit hurdling debutant Meitheal while point-to-point winner Full Of Life was bought for 70,000 pounds last March.
This will likely go to one of the hurdle newcomers. Henry de Bromhead point recruit FULL OF LIFE gets the nod ahead of bumper winners Fancy Girl, Mietheal, Neon Diamond and Barnahash Primrose before any betting clues are known.
Although disappointing on her final bumper start BARNAHASH PRIMROSE looks potentially superior to these rivals on the balance of form

1st (5) (9/4 +25%) King Turgeon |
9/4(+25%) | (5) King Turgeon 9/4, Had another breathing op and took his form to a whole new level when making a winning reappearance at Chepstow and confirmed he's a handicapper on the up with a superb jumping display to follow up in the Grand Sefton (21.1f) here a month ago. Further 6 lb rise looks feasible. Inconsistent previously; won with authority at Chepstow (3m2f) and Aintree (2m5f) recently. |

2nd (3) (20/1 +0%) Our Power |
20/1(+0%) | (3) Our Power 20/1, Lightly raced since since the spring of 2023, falling at Newbury when last seen a year ago. Well capable from this mark if retaining ability, so not a forlorn hope. Has not come up the hill that well on previous visits to Cheltenham but a case can be made. |

3rd (1) (2/1 +0%) Chianti Classico |
2/1(+0%) | (1) Chianti Classico 2/1, Quickly developed into a smart chaser last term, gaining his third win in the Ultima Handicap here. Hit the ground running when scoring at Ascot on return and still hasn't reached his limit. Looks the one to beat. Up another 5lb but the extra distance should help and he remains a fine prospect. |

4th (6) (6/1 +25%) Java Point |
6/1(+25%) | (6) Java Point 6/1, 22/1, good second of 11 in handicap chase at this course (25f, good) 27 days ago. Still not fully exposed for this yard and should put up another solid showing. Good second here (3m1f, good) four weeks ago but he's 2lb out of the handicap today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (15/2 +6%) The Newest One |
15/2(+6%) | (7) The Newest One 15/2, Capitalised on a lower chase mark when making a winning return in 18-runner handicap chase at the track in October and backed it up with a solid fourth here last month. Not dismissed despite being wrong at the weights. Never better than in his two races here this term but he's now 4lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (8/1 -14%) Ballygrifincottage |
8/1(-14%) | (4) Ballygrifincottage 8/1, Produced his best effort for a while when runner-up here in March and ran to a similar level when seventh of 26 in Scottish Grand National next time. Collared late on at Uttoxeter (24f) in May before shaping as if needing the run at Chepstow on return. Fell here since. Early faller at Cheltenham (3m3f) last month, following a satisfactory reappearance. |

|PU| (2) (25/1 -108%) Chambard |
25/1(-108%) | (2) Chambard 25/1, Ended 2021/22 campaign with success in the Kim Muir and added another valuable handicap to his tally in the Becher at Aintree over a year ago. Didn't really fire subsequently but has a good record fresh and stable is firing. Dominated the Becher at Aintree (3m2f, heavy) last December; out of form later last term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 -25%) Izino D'airy |
100/1(-25%) | (8) Izino D'airy 100/1, Modest chaser on the balance of his French form, so firmly up against it from a long way out of the weights. 2-20 over French fences, the wins in cross-country this year; miles out of the handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
CHIANTI CLASSICO goes from strength to strength over fences and carried 12st to victory at Ascot in good style on his reappearance. A winner at the Festival here back in March, Kim Bailey's charge may prove tough to beat once again. King Turgeon completed a double in the Grand Sefton at Aintree and he rates a threat, despite an 8lb rise, while Java Point could feature on the back of a second here, where The Newest One was fourth. Last year's Becher winner Chambard is also worth noting on his reappearance.
CHIANTI CLASSICO and King Turgeon are a pair of chasers firmly on the up but the former is the less exposed/classier of the two and he's taken to land this before a likely step back up in grade. Java Point arrives on the back of a likeable effort at the track and could make his presence felt again.
While there are positives about the others, calculations seem to be dominated by Chianti Classico and KING TURGEON (nap).

9/2(+50%) | (7) Yealand 9/2, Won 2 of his 7 starts (at up to 20.3f) last season and possibly needed first run for 7 months when sixth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, heavy, 5/1) 19 days ago. That should have blown the cobwebs away now his attentions switch to larger obstacles. Progressive in handicap hurdles at start of this year; has possibilities on chasing debut. |

2nd (3) (14/1 -65%) Northern Bound |
14/1(-65%) | (3) Northern Bound 14/1, Winless since 2022 and his record has been patchy in recent months, going backwards from a respectable fourth at Warwick when pulled up at Ascot (23.8f) 21 days ago. Others make more appeal. Has good strike-rate over fences but is on the downgrade now and has become inconsistent. |

28/1(-250%) | (6) Envious Editor 28/1, Back to winning ways in hunter at Stratford (21f) in May and essentially acquitted himself well in defeat for Gary Hanmer since, third of 4 in veterans' handicap chase at Carlisle (20f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Each-way possibilities. Multiple point/hunter chase winner; 0-6 for stable but has posted some fairly good efforts. |

4th (1) (6/1 +20%) Bobhopeornohope |
6/1(+20%) | (1) Bobhopeornohope 6/1, A three-time winner over fences who ran easily his best race for some time when fourth in 7-runner handicap chase at this course (19f) 2 weeks ago. Mark has slipped further if he can use that as a platform to build on. Took big step back in right direction here last month and is very well handicapped. |

Made pleasing seasonal debut at Warwick last month and can make presence felt again here. |

25/1(+24%) | (8) Sometimes Always 25/1, Fairly useful hurdler who has the physique for chasing but he offered little after fully 38 months off when fifth of 7 in handicap chase at Warwick (16.2f, soft, 80/1) on debut over fences 23 days ago, pulling hard. This ought to reveal more. Absent 1,125 days before struggling to get competitive on last month's chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (4/1 -20%) Sageburg County |
4/1(-20%) | (2) Sageburg County 4/1, Three-time winner over fences last season, including at Chepstow in April. Returned from a break with a good third back at that venue in October and went well for a long way when fourth at Ascot (21f) 21 days ago. Possibilities. Triple chase winner last season and began this season two good runs in higher-grade races. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A mid-race stumble forced an end to NICKELFORCE's unbeaten status over fences when he unseated the rider at Leicester 12 days ago. However, his two previous chase efforts saw him register convincing successes and he can resume winning ways with Harry Bannister back in the saddle. Pearly Island and Envious Editor are suggested as the main threats to the selection.
NICKELFORCE impressed when landing each of his first 2 starts over fences and, having unseated just as the race was beginning in earnest at Leicester in his hat-trick bid 12 days ago, he remains one to be interested in given his low-mileage, progressive profile in this sphere. Sageburg County and Pearly Island may be the pair to provide chief resistance.
Sageburg Country is respected there could still be a lot more to come from NICKELFORCE (nap), who has taken very well to fences.

1st (2) (20/1 -150%) Galassian |
20/1(-150%) | (2) Galassian 20/1, Winning pointer who ran to a fair level when second of 8 in Worcester maiden hurdle in October 2022. However, hard to train since and ran a very tame race back at that venue in October. Lightly race and tailed off at Worcester in October; best watched for now. |

2nd (5) (4/5 +36%) Kevin's Pride |
4/5(+36%) | (5) Kevin's Pride 4/5, Successful on sole outing in bumpers and shaped with plenty of encouragement in finding only one too good switched to hurdling in 2m4f Carlisle novice last month, carrying head bit high but sticking to task. Open to improvement and has leading claims. Didn't jumped fluently when just beaten on hurdles debut, but that form has been franked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8/1 -33%) Alan De Banks |
8/1(-33%) | (1) Alan De Banks 8/1, Showed plenty in bumpers last season (first past the post on 2 of his 3 starts in that sphere) and encouraging start over hurdles when fourth of 15 in a 2½m Ffos Las maiden last time. Live each-way chance here with improvement on the cards. Promising fourth on hurdles debut at Ffos Las last month; form has worked out well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (5/1 +0%) Skuna Bay |
5/1(+0%) | (8) Skuna Bay 5/1, Placed both starts in points and shaped like the stayer he's bred to be when third in 11-runner maiden at Carlisle (20f, good to soft) on NH debut 24 days ago, not knocked about. Open to improvement. Promising third on hurdles debut at Carlisle last month; likely to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (66/1 +34%) Ipsos Des Bordes |
66/1(+34%) | (4) Ipsos Des Bordes 66/1, Dual point winner but he was beaten a long way starting out over hurdles at Ffos Las. Beaten a very long way on hurdles debut at Ffos Las last month (Alan De Banks fourth). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (80/1 -142%) Hms Milo |
80/1(-142%) | (3) Hms Milo 80/1, Offered little in a small-field Doncaster bumper on debut 9 months ago. Has left Philip Kirby. Tailed off in only bumper; probably only of interest if backed on stable/hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (13/2 +41%) Theatre Tom |
13/2(+41%) | (9) Theatre Tom 13/2, Made frame both completed starts in Irish points (latest May 25) and showed a bit to work on when third in 11-runner novice at this course (16.7f) last month, taking third last. Should improve with the step up in trip likely to suit. Fair third on hurdles debut here last month and the longer trip should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (16/1 -45%) Edmond |
16/1(-45%) | (10) Edmond 16/1, Fair bumper winner for Rod Millman who shaped as if needing the run with cheekpieces left off sent hurdling after 18 months off at Ffos Ls 23 days ago. This will reveal more. Beaten a fair way on stable/hurdles debut; improvement likely and longer trip should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (200/1 -506%) Pulse Of Camelot |
200/1(-506%) | (7) Pulse Of Camelot 200/1, Made frame in points (pulled up last time) and shaped with a fair amount of promise when third of 13 in a hunter at Clonmel (21f, heavy) on chasing debut 11 months ago. Switches to hurdles on first run for yard after leaving W. J. Burke. Placed in Irish points and a hunter chase, but enough to prove on stable/hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (400/1 -220%) Our Jesse Boy |
400/1(-220%) | (6) Our Jesse Boy 400/1, Has made a discouraging start to his career and easily passed over. Well beaten in a bumper and at massive odds in two novice hurdles; can't be recommended. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Irish raider KEVIN'S PRIDE, who comfortably won a bumper in Ireland before posting a solid second over 2m4f on his hurdles debut at Carlisle last month, should be wiser for the experience and appeals most. Former pointer Skuna Bay runs for a yard with an excellent strike-rate at this venue and can figure after a respectable third on his hurdles bow 24 days ago. Theatre Tom also warrants consideration.
KEVIN'S PRIDE shaped with plenty of promise when sprinting away from a subsequent winner on his hurdling debut at Carlisle a month ago and should take a bit of stopping with improvement on the cards. Skuna Bay and Alan de Banks are feared most in that order.
Preference is for KEVIN'S PRIDE who should prove hard to beat if jumping better than when just beaten on his hurdles debut.

4th (9) (9/1 +0%) Lilian Bland |
9/1(+0%) | (9) Lilian Bland 9/1, One win from 21 NH runs. 7/1, very good second of 15 in handicap hurdle at Tramore (21f, heavy) 17 days ago. Another who has to enter the reckoning. Chase winner, 0-14 over hurdles but worth considering on recent Tramore second over 2m5f. |

28/1(-155%) | (2) The Mass Path 28/1, Bit below form eleventh of 18 in handicap hurdle (14/1) at Gowran (20.2f, good to soft) 70 days ago. Looks nicely handicapped on best form. Market support significant. Placed in three of his 13 starts over hurdles, failed to make his presence felt last time. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ONE AND ONLY did well to win over C&D last Sunday and might defy a 6lb rise. Well-bred, he had largely disappointed prior to Sunday but that success came in a slightly higher-rated handicap with 22 runners and he also overcame a mistake at the fourth last to score narrowly. Nevereverever has been running well in autumn handicaps, is suited by drying ground and should get involved while Donegal Danny jumped slightly left when running well at Clonmel recently. Dual chase winner Likable Chancer reverts to hurdles but is winless from 27 starts in this sphere.
NEVEREVEREVER has made a good start to his handicap career and might be able to get off the mark. Donegal Danny and Lilian Bland head the many dangers, while a market move for the Charles Byrnes-trained The Mass Path would bring him firmly into the reckoning.
Last Sunday's C&D winner One And Only may not cope with NEVEREVEREVER who can step up on seconds at Roscommon and Sligo

1st (8) (10/1 +50%) Numitor |
10/1(+50%) | (8) Numitor 10/1, Enhanced healthy strike rate over fences with a tidy success on return at Wincanton (20.2f, good) and a 3 lb rise for that looks manageable. However, a clear career-best will be needed if he's to follow up in this tougher race. Only 3lb higher than at Wincanton but Cheltenham will be a new experience for him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (14/1 -75%) Copperhead |
14/1(-75%) | (9) Copperhead 14/1, Snapped long losing run on final start of last term and has picked up where he left off by taking handicaps at Chepstow and Aintree in October. Clear of the rest when second in a 4-runner event at Sandown (24.2f, good) the following month but some of these could be better treated. Had a good year but his mark has suffered and only four ran when second at Sandown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (12/1 -85%) Eldorado Allen |
12/1(-85%) | (2) Eldorado Allen 12/1, Struggled in second half of last term but kick-started that campaign with a couple of very respectable efforts in major handicaps off higher marks than this. Positive start to this season following another wind op when chasing home Torn And Frayed at Warwick (3m, soft) and he's one to consider. Dangerously handicapped and entitled to strip fitter for his run behind Torn And Frayed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 +31%) Dashel Drasher |
9/2(+31%) | (4) Dashel Drasher 9/2, Tough and likeable sort who's known more as a smart-staying hurdler nowadays, adding to his tally in that sphere when landing a Newbury Grade 2 last December. First run over fences for almost 2 years when third in the 1965 Chase at Ascot (21f, good to soft) last month and he's a key player. Admirable veteran who ran a pleasing comeback race in a Grade 2 at Ascot 20 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (13/2 +7%) Seddon |
13/2(+7%) | (5) Seddon 13/2, Lightly-raced since landing the C&D Plate at the 2023 Festival but there's been little in the way of regression in the interim judged on his Flat exploits this year, winning a couple of minor events prior to a creditable effort in a valuable Naas handicap. Resumes in this sphere on a fair mark. Has been in good form on the Flat and he's a well handicapped C&D winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (9/2 +50%) Torn And Frayed |
9/2(+50%) | (10) Torn And Frayed 9/2, Not always the most sure-footed and his round of jumping behind Copperhead at Aintree in October left an awful lot to be desired. However, it was an entirely different story next time at Warwick where he proved 8½ lengths too strong for Eldorado Allen, with the rest well beaten off. 6 lb rise fair. Feasibly treated C&D winner who looked on good terms with himself at Warwick latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (3/1 +63%) Shan Blue |
3/1(+63%) | (7) Shan Blue 3/1, Very smart chaser at best and, though winless since landing the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton almost 4 years ago, he shaped well when fourth of 10 on his seasonal reappearance at Bangor (3m, soft). This drop back in trip looks a good move and, on a nice mark, he has to be taken seriously. Probably not the force of old but retains ability and his Bangor return was encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (50/1 -100%) Paint The Dream |
50/1(-100%) | (1) Paint The Dream 50/1, Three of his four wins over fences have been gained at Newbury, including a Grade 3 handicap back in March 2022. Wasn't disgraced when third in his bid to win that same race 12 months later but subsequent absence is naturally a concern ahead of this debut for new yard. Four-time chase winner but this is a big ask after so long out, and with top weight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (5/1 -11%) Shakem Up'arry |
5/1(-11%) | (3) Shakem Up'arry 5/1, Done little wrong in 4 runs over fences here (form figures read 5311), bettering his third-place finish in the 2023 Plate at the Festival when winning last season's renewal of that valuable C&D handicap. Clearly wasn't on-song at Aintree when last seen in April and he has to enter calculations. Two C&D wins earlier this year and returns from his break with the yard going well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/1 +31%) Raffle Ticket |
11/1(+31%) | (6) Raffle Ticket 11/1, Low mileage 10-y-o who has developed into a better chaser than hurdler. Looked better than ever when landing an 8-runner Aintree handicap (2½m, good to soft) on his latest appearance in May but has more on his plate up 8 lb in the stronger race. Up 8lb for narrow Aintree win but Harry Cobden appeared to have matters in hand. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Shakem Up'arry recorded a C&D double in the Plate here back in March, but was then disappointing in the Topham off this 6lb higher mark so TORN AND FRAYED makes more appeal. Nigel Twiston-Davies' 10-year-old won a competitive veterans' chase at Warwick with plenty left in the tank and can confirm superiority over runner-up Eldorado Allen, despite the worse terms. Dashel Drasher returned to chasing with a creditable third at Ascot and is not without a chance off his current rating. Copperhead is another to consider.
A strong-looking renewal of this veterans' race, with SHAN BLUE shading preference on the back of an encouraging reappearance at Bangor. He promises to be suited by this drop back in trip and gets the nod ahead of Dashel Drasher, who has also slipped to an attractive mark and put in a good shift back over fences in a Grade 2 at Ascot last month. Dual C&D winner Shakem Up'arry will be a danger to all if fully tuned-up, while Warwick 1-2 Torn And Frayed and Eldorado Allen also merit respect.
There's nothing not to like about course specialist Shakem Up'arry but SHAN BLUE isn't one to give up on despite his losing run.

1st (7) (9/2 +0%) Squiggles |
9/2(+0%) | (7) Squiggles 9/2, £45,000 buy after winning point in Ireland. Disappointing in a bumper for Sue Smith in May but has chased home decent types in maidens at Ludlow and Huntingdon since switched to hurdles and she could have more to offer for her excellent yard now pitched into a handicap. Runner-up in two maidens last month (2m5f/3m1f) and open to improvement in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (12/1 -20%) Phillapa Sue |
12/1(-20%) | (2) Phillapa Sue 12/1, Winner of this race 12 months ago and added to her tally when landing a mares' handicap at Cartmel off a 2 lb higher mark in March. However, she has offered little in a couple of runs so far this season and a revival is needed. Won this race in 2023 but has become very inconsistent and is hard to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (11/2 -38%) Faerie Cutlass |
11/2(-38%) | (9) Faerie Cutlass 11/2, Consistent type who deservedly doubled her tally when seeing off 8 rivals in decisive fashion at Ludlow (23.8f, soft) recently. This 6 lb higher mark will ask a question but she needs considering nonetheless. Went up 6lb for last month's clearcut Ludlow win but is evidently in very good nick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/1 +31%) Belles Benefit |
11/1(+31%) | (8) Belles Benefit 11/1, Bounced back to form to score at Plumpton in October but has followed that with a couple of lesser efforts and she's probably high enough in the weights for now. Dual winner this season but may find less exposed rivals better handicapped here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (7/2 +13%) Saunton Surf |
7/2(+13%) | (4) Saunton Surf 7/2, Easy winner of a point/Aintree bumper for Bradley Gibbs and better than the result on a couple of occasions over hurdles last season. Positive start to this season when runner-up at Lingfield (23f, good) where she was left with a lot to do and a bold show is very much on the cards here. 0-5 over hurdles but ran well in defeat last month, after a layoff; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 -75%) Minniemum |
14/1(-75%) | (6) Minniemum 14/1, Free-goer who finally came good in 23f Bangor handicap in May. Respectable third over the same trip at Hexham the following month but she failed to fire over this C&D on her recent reappearance and it's hard to be confident on the back of that display. Off mark over hurdles in May but returned from break with disappointing C&D run last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (9/1 +36%) For Gina |
9/1(+36%) | (3) For Gina 9/1, Three-time winner in this sphere, latest success gained in a 23.4f Fakenham handicap in February. May have needed the run on return at Warwick last month and it would be no surprise to see a more prominent showing from her here. Quite progressive in first few months of 2024 and ran okay last month, after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (17/2 +15%) Lutinebella |
17/2(+15%) | (1) Lutinebella 17/2, Fairly useful in bumpers and successful twice over hurdles during 2022/23 campaign. Lightly raced since, though, and she hasn't exactly shaped as though a return to form is imminent in 2 runs since returning from a break in September. Yard also saddles Mistral Blue. In the frame twice this autumn but needs a bigger performance today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (5/1 +50%) Mrs Tabitha |
5/1(+50%) | (10) Mrs Tabitha 5/1, Bumper winner who has left her low-key novice form behind since switched to handicaps, scoring at Ludlow in April and has made the frame on each of her 4 subsequent completions. Not without each-way hope. Consistent since winning handicap debut in April and probably won't be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (33/1 -32%) Mistral Blue |
33/1(-32%) | (5) Mistral Blue 33/1, Winner of a novice event here last December but she's failed to build on that since and was safely held on her handicap debut at Huntingdon when last seen in May. Won easily here on hurdle debut but three heavy defeats followed; back from a break today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Faerie Cutlass won with something in hand at Ludlow last month. A 6lb rise in the ratings looks more than workable for Kim Bailey's mare and another bold bid is forecast, but handicap debutant SQUIGGLES looks open to slightly more improvement. The five-year-old has filled the runner-up spot on both hurdle outings so far and an opening mark of 105 could prove lenient. Saunton Surf and Mrs Tabitha are other key players.
Having shaped well on her seasonal reappearance at Lingfield, SAUNTON SURF could be the answer. She may have most to fear from handicap-debutante Squiggles, though recent Ludlow scorer Faerie Cutlass and For Gina, who is entitled to come on for her pipe-opener at Warwick a few weeks ago, are also shortlisted.
This might go to unexposed 5yo SAUNTON SURF, who ran well in defeat on last month's seasonal debut and probably still has potential.

1st (8) (11/2 +8%) Strackan |
11/2(+8%) | (8) Strackan 11/2, Chased home an upwardly mobile sort on return at Worcester (20f, heavy) in October and duly stepped forward when opening his account from the front at Uttoxeter (20f) last month, drawing clear run-in. Good chance there's even better to come. Made all at Uttoxeter; up 9lb but he's progressing and bred to stay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (6/1 +57%) Schalke |
6/1(+57%) | (7) Schalke 6/1, 3-time winner over hurdles for Rebecca Menzies, latterly at Kelso (22.7f) 2 years ago. Out of sorts last season but slipped a long way in weights as a result and resumed for new yard with an encouraging third in a C&D handicap 45 days ago. Interesting if able to build on that effort. Best run for a while when close third over C&D under Ben Smith last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/4 +0%) Plaisir Des Flos |
11/4(+0%) | (1) Plaisir Des Flos 11/4, Gone from strength-to-strength in handicaps this year, bringing up the 5-timer in good style at after 6 months off at Carlisle (20f) in October. Lost little caste in defeat when third in big field at Cheltenham (21f) since and he looks sure to go well again. Couldn't bring up the six-timer at Cheltenham but that was another career best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/1 +0%) El Granjero |
10/1(+0%) | (3) El Granjero 10/1, Successful on sole outing in points and made the most of a good opportunity when landing a Hereford maiden (19.7f) in March. Followed up on handicap debut back there the following month and possibly needed the run on his reappearance at Newton Abbot. Probably needed his comeback run and should be on a competitive mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (33/1 -32%) Captain Potter |
33/1(-32%) | (6) Captain Potter 33/1, Hurdles winner at the start of the year and also opened account on the Flat in 2m Catterick handicap in October. Slipped up home turn back over hurdles at that venue 3 weeks ago and whilst he's still lightly raced in this sphere, this is tougher. In contention when slipping up after the third last in his latest handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (8/1 -33%) Mahland |
8/1(-33%) | (2) Mahland 8/1, Progressive over hurdles when stepped up to around 3m, needing no more than hands-and-heels riding when opening his account at Ffos Las (23.9f) in April. Underfoot conditions will hold no fears and no surprise to see him do better again this campaign. Progressed well last season, signing off with a 4l success off 6lb lower at Ffos Las. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (22/1 -57%) Neo King |
22/1(-57%) | (9) Neo King 22/1, Multiple point winner and second in a hunter chase at Down Royal (19.5f) in March. Changed hands for £20,000 and has since posted encouraging efforts in maiden hurdles over 2¾m/2½m at Ffos Las, leaving the impression that he'll be suited by this stiffer test on handicap bow. Not that dangerous in 2m6f/2m4f maidens but handicaps are now a better option. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (14/1 +13%) Astronomic View |
14/1(+13%) | (4) Astronomic View 14/1, Wide-margin success at Warwick (26f, heavy) in March did his mark no favours but ran creditably after 7 months off when third at Newton Abbot (21.5f) in October. Struggled in stronger company at Newbury (24.2f) latest but assessor has eased his grip a little ahead of this. Beat below-par opposition over 3m2f at Warwick (soft) in March and went up 8lb; held since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Having won five of his last six starts, Plaisir Des Flos is a must for the shortlist despite his rising mark. However, this trip takes him into uncharted territory and, with that in mind, a chance is taken on MAHLAND being able to make a winning return and follow up on his comfortable success over 3m at Ffos Las in April. Thanksforthehelp is another capable stayer to consider.
A warm looking race of its type with a chance taken on 9-y-o SCHALKE. He shaped most encouragingly having tumbled in the weights when third in a C&D handicap on return/yard debut 45 days ago and conditions here will hold no fears. Thanksforthehelp for David Pipe, prolific-scorer Plaisir des Flos and Strackan are just a trio of others to consider.
Henry Daly has described recent Uttoxeter winner STRACKAN (nap) as "gormless" in the past but he's getting his act together now.

1st (8) (8/11 +34%) Spindleberry |
8/11(+34%) | (8) Spindleberry 8/11, Point winner. Useful form over hurdles, runner-up in Fairyhouse Grade 1 in March. Jolting error ended her chance when fifth in listed hurdle at Punchestown (16.4f) when last seen in May and she appeals as the type to make her mark as a chaser. Just denied at Grade 1 level over hurdles; Townend's pick from yard's 4 runners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (3/1 +50%) Majestic Force |
3/1(+50%) | (7) Majestic Force 3/1, £120,000 buy after running out a wide-margin winner on point debut and looked a useful prospect in following up in a 2½m Punchestown maiden. Solid fifth of 8 to Golden Ace in Dawn Run Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham (16.8f, soft). Interesting prospect now going over fences. Lightly raced hurdler with talent; one to consider now sent chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (16/1 -357%) Iris Emery |
16/1(-357%) | (5) Iris Emery 16/1, Fairly useful chaser. 8/1, showed more than previously when second of 4 in novice chase at Fairyhouse (24.6f, good) 38 days ago, headway from 2 out and keeping on. Should be in the mix. Fairyhouse second steadily getting her act together chasing and should be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/1 -10%) Cuta Des As |
11/1(-10%) | (1) Cuta Des As 11/1, Bumper winner who ran to a fairly useful level when winning on hurdles debut in mares' maiden at Punchestown (22.5f) in February. Struggled in pair of Grade 1's thereafter but not ruled out now chasing on return given her background as a former point winner. Highly tried hurdler last term; bred to jump a fence but others look more likely here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (28/1 -180%) Goodie Two Shoes |
28/1(-180%) | (3) Goodie Two Shoes 28/1, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Off 14 months ahead of her fencing bow but not discounted with yard among the winners. Long absent classy Flat mare may just need the run here on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (13/2 +0%) Miss Manzor |
13/2(+0%) | (9) Miss Manzor 13/2, Fairly useful winner at 2m over hurdles. 15½ lengths eighth of 10 to Kargese in Champion Juvenile Hurdle at Punchestown (16f, soft, 18/1). Off 7 months. Makes chase debut and interesting what the market makes of her as one of 4 runners from this yard. 126-rated hurdler at 2m last season; marked step up in trip here for chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (150/1 +25%) Haveuseentherain |
150/1(+25%) | (4) Haveuseentherain 150/1, Poor maiden hurdler/chaser who looks set for another struggle in this company. Longstanding maiden under both codes and tailed off last month over fences at Thurles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Grade 1-placed SPINDLEBERRY debuts over fences and might prefer easier ground but has point-to-point experience. She finished second in a top-level novice in March and while well beaten subsequently at Punchestown, is forgiven that run as she had been hampered and blundered badly. Majestic Force has winning points form and while well enough held at Cheltenham in March, can get involved on chase debut. Iris Emery was narrowly defeated by Drinmore winner Croke Park last month but that rival was reported to have had blood at both nostrils.
Point-winner SPINDLEBERRY quickly reached a useful level in a trio of hurdle outings last term (runner up at Grade 1 level) and she may well emerge best of the Willie Mullins' quintet now her sights are set on chasing. Majestic Force is another low-mileage mare with plenty of potential now chasing and she's feared. Iris Emery, a stablemate of the selection, can also get involved.
Willie Mullins has a strong hand, the pick looking to be SPINDLEBERRY, who gets the vote ahead of Majestic Force

1st (4) (4/1 +11%) Stumptown |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Stumptown 4/1, Arrives on a hat-trick after back-to-back 3m cross country victories at Punchestown. This demands more but he's not taken lightly in his current mood. Has run well over conventional fences here and on the banks course at Punchestown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (5/1 +17%) Mister Coffey |
5/1(+17%) | (12) Mister Coffey 5/1, Still without a win in this sphere but he returned with a solid second of 9 in handicap chase over C&D 28 days ago. Can go well again off a 2 lb lower mark. Never-nearer second on first crack at a C&D race four weeks ago but he's 0-14 over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (5/1 +29%) Latenightpass |
5/1(+29%) | (8) Latenightpass 5/1, 2022 Foxhunters winner at Aintree and he took this 12 months ago for Dan Skelton. Had a wind op before coming in tenth of 13 in Grand Sefton back at Aintree (21.1f, good) 34 days ago. No forlorn hope back here with that run under his belt. Won this race last year (4lb higher today) and should be of renewed interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (80/1 -21%) Escaria Ten |
80/1(-21%) | (13) Escaria Ten 80/1, Very useful chaser in his pomp but evidently not the force of old in recent seasons and well held both starts for his current yard here 6 months apart. His last win was very nearly four years ago and he's struggling to get competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (15) (28/1 -40%) Three By Two |
28/1(-40%) | (15) Three By Two 28/1, Resumed winning ways at Wexford in July and excelled herself when 2¾ lengths second of 13 to Stumptown in cross country chase at Punchestown (3m) 19 days ago. 6 lb out of the handicap here though. 6lb out of the handicap but her banks record earns some respect for this similar test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (33/1 -18%) Busselton |
33/1(-18%) | (11) Busselton 33/1, Last success over jumps came in 2022 Kerry National but resumed winning ways with blinkers refitted on Flat at Galway (16.5f) in July. Hasn't been in same form on Flat/over fences since though. Lots more is required. Opposable these days, although first attempt at this test was not a total washout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (12/1 +82%) The Goffer |
12/1(+82%) | (10) The Goffer 12/1, On a losing run and he was tried blinkered for 1st time when a below-form seventh of 18 in 3m handicap chase at Navan 26 days ago. More is needed now back up in trip. Has gone badly the wrong way; bold to predict that this new test will relight his fire. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (18/1 -50%) Arizona Cardinal |
18/1(-50%) | (9) Arizona Cardinal 18/1, Admirable sort who signed off last term with victory in Topham Handicap Chase at Aintree. Looked rusty when pulled up at Chepstow on October's return to action and better expected on the back of a breathing operation. Had wind surgery (his third) since reappearance, giving hope judged on previous record. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (28/1 -75%) Vanillier |
28/1(-75%) | (7) Vanillier 28/1, It's now 16 runs since his last win in 2021 and he came in a below-form sixth of 13 to Stumptown in cross country chase at Punchestown (3m) 19 days ago. Needs to take a big step forward. Second in the 2023 Grand National but he did not spark last season and same this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (16) (11/2 -57%) Iceo Madrik |
11/2(-57%) | (16) Iceo Madrik 11/2, French chaser who comes here bidding for a hat-trick after a pair of cross country successes at Compiegne this winter. 11 lb "wrong" in the weights however. 11lb out of the handicap today but a rising force switched to French cross-country races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (16/1 -45%) Coko Beach |
16/1(-45%) | (2) Coko Beach 16/1, A very smart chaser who reportedly suffered cuts to both hind legs when fifth in Punchestown conditions event 19 days ago. This course winner needs considering with cheekpieces refitted. Well-held fifth to Stumptown over the banks on latest start; player on last season's best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (18/1 -50%) Delta Work |
18/1(-50%) | (1) Delta Work 18/1, High-class chaser who ended last season with an excellent second in Grand National at Aintree. Last of 5 on his return in Champion Chase at Down Royal last month but this course winner is a player back in these calmer waters. Won the Festival cross-country in 2022 and 2023; may be vulnerable in this handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (14/1 +44%) Chemical Energy |
14/1(+44%) | (5) Chemical Energy 14/1, Course winner but he's not the easiest to catch right and was tried in blinkers for the first time when pulled up in handicap chase at Navan (24.2f) 26 days ago. Others are preferred. Showed that significant ability remains on two of his last four starts; this is a new test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (22/1 -38%) Fakir D'oudairies |
22/1(-38%) | (3) Fakir D'oudairies 22/1, Smart chaser who has caught the eye both runs this term, not knocked about when fourth of 6 to Saint Sam in Clonmel Oil Chase at Clonmel (20.8f) 36 days ago. In the mix back up in trip. It remains to be seen whether the cross-country or this trip are his cup of tea. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (14) (22/1 +56%) Statuario |
22/1(+56%) | (14) Statuario 22/1, Enhanced excellent Perth record with another brace of small-field wins in May/June. Got back on track when fourth of 9 in handicap chase over C&D 28 days ago so he can't be dismissed off a 7 lb lower mark. Back-to-form 4th over C&D four weeks ago when 7lb out of weights on cross-country debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Although competing from 11lb out of the handicap, there is plenty to like about the chances of ICEO MADRIK. The ex-David Pipe inmate arrives following two wins at Compiegne, including in a Listed cross country event last time, and ground conditions look set to be in his favour again. It's also worth remembering that another French raider in Sweet David won impressively from 17lb out of the handicap in the cross country race at the November Meeting here. Stumptown had Three By Two (second), Coko Beach (fifth) and Vanillier (sixth) all behind when winning over the banks at Punchestown last month and he looks a big danger, while Mister Coffey may stick on for a place like he did behind the aforementioned Sweet David four weeks ago.
Gordon Elliott comes here mob-handed and his veteran DELTA WORK is fancied to capitalise on a handy-looking mark and enhance his fine record round here. Fellow Irish raider Stumptown has age on his side and is feared most in his bid for a hat-trick of cross country events, with in-form maiden chaser Mister Coffey appealing as the pick of the home challengers. Former victor Latenightpass and Topham-hero Arizona Cardinal complete the shortlist.
There's major interest from top to bottom in this field but the two to concentrate on may be STUMPTOWN and Latenightpass.

10/3(-21%) | (5) Bathgate 10/3, 5/1, career best when winning 13-runner handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Should go well again. Held narrow lead when left clear at score at Sedgefield last month; up 6lb; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (8/1 -14%) Ruby Island |
8/1(-14%) | (1) Ruby Island 8/1, Fairly useful in bumpers and won first 2 starts over hurdles last season. Didn't kick on but is worth monitoring in the betting on first start (off 9 months) since leaving Mark Walford. Well beaten on sole appearance last season; makes stable debut after another layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 -71%) Marty Mcfly |
12/1(-71%) | (6) Marty Mcfly 12/1, Struck at the second time of asking for Sandy Thomson in 2m Perth handicap in June but needs to shrug off a disappointing effort at Kelso since. Didn't fire last month, after a break, but has claims if judged on winning form in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/1 +9%) Two Auld Pals |
5/1(+9%) | (4) Two Auld Pals 5/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat and scored over hurdles at Hexham in March. Below form next time but arrives on the back of a solid run on the level, so needs considering. Won handicap hurdle debut in March and reverts to this code after good Flat run last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (50/1 -100%) Call Him Now |
50/1(-100%) | (8) Call Him Now 50/1, Maiden Irish pointer who hasn't featured over hurdles yet and has a long absence to overcome on handicap debut. Well beaten in three novice hurdles in 2022-23 season but still worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (20/1 +20%) Scots Poet |
20/1(+20%) | (3) Scots Poet 20/1, Returned to winning ways at Musselburgh on New Year's Day and bounced back from a poor run when finding plenty to score at Perth. Subsequent efforts suggest the assessor has his about right and he may need this. Off since down-the-field run in August but won off this mark in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (50/1 -100%) Ebony Jade |
50/1(-100%) | (7) Ebony Jade 50/1, Just poor form over hurdles in Ireland but bumper effort does give him some scope for better starting out for a new yard after 8 months off. Unplaced all five Irish hurdling starts, the last twice in slow-ground handicaps in April. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A drop in distance proved just the tonic for BATHGATE when opening his account at Sedgefield 17 days ago. Although he was flattered by the 13-length winning margin that day, a 5lb higher mark may not be enough to prevent the four-year-old from doubling his tally. Marty Mcfly didn't appear to stay the 2m5f trip on his reappearance at Kelso and this distance is likely to see him in a better light. Ruby Island must be respected too.
GENTLEMAN BILL is three from four (including point win) completed starts and showed a good attitude at Bangor last time, so he's marginally preferred to fellow last-time-out winner Bathgate in what could be a tightly-knit affair. Two Auld Pals should also be on the premises.
Lucinda Russell's TWO AULD PALS proved his welbeing with a good AW run last month and could still be well handicapped over hurdles.

8/1(+43%) | (3) Lancelot Allen 8/1, Rail Link gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including smart chaser Enjoy d'Allen, stays 29f, and French chaser Hermine Allen. One to note on paper, albeit he'll probably need more time. Stable won a couple of bumpers with Kel Du Large last season; watch market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/4 +66%) Sherminator |
11/4(+66%) | (6) Sherminator 11/4, Showed a bit when fourth at Exeter first time out but may need a marked step forward if he's to compete with Linalene. Promising fourth on Exeter debut and should be suited by this extra 4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (2/1 +0%) Linalene |
2/1(+0%) | (4) Linalene 2/1, Related to a trio of winners and shaped with a good deal of promise when third in a stronger race than this at Aintree first time out. More to come and should take the beating. Beaten a length into third on Aintree debut; any improvement will put him bang there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (15/2 -100%) Bohemond Antioch |
15/2(-100%) | (1) Bohemond Antioch 15/2, Nathaniel gelding who seemed quite well forward when runner-up in a 4-runner event at Market Rasen a couple of months ago. Should be involved. Second of four on Market Rasen debut; likely to be thereabouts. |

5th (2) (10/1 +0%) Cosmic Jet |
10/1(+0%) | (2) Cosmic Jet 10/1, Phoenix of Spain gelding. Half-brother to 10.4f winner Rainbow Jet. Dam unraced. Wears cheekpieces. Not ruled out. Bred more for speed, but market support on debut would be interesting; cheekpieces on. |

6th (5) (9/2 +44%) Mythical Light |
9/2(+44%) | (5) Mythical Light 9/2, 4,400 gns 3-y-o, Waldgeist gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler Moabit, stays 2½m, and fairly useful hurdler Madurai. Dam 10.5f winner. Wears tongue strap. Stable's newcomers are worthy of respect in this sphere. Stable has a 17% strike-rate in bumpers in the last five seasons; tongue-tie on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LINALENE is readily suggested after his third-placed finish in what looked a good bumper at Aintree last month. The son of Rail Link, who is a half-brother to a couple of jump winners in France, was a solid favourite on that occasion and may be up to scoring this time. Bohemond Antioch and Sherminator can fight it out for second given they have an experience edge over the remainder.
LINALENE showed up well in a better race at Aintree on debut and should be able to open his account with improvement anticipated. Bohemond Antioch looks the main form danger and Through The Storm is a notable newcomer.
The choice is SHERMINATOR who shaped as though this longer trip would suit when a staying-on fourth at Exeter in October.

50/1(-52%) | (9) King Of Cong 50/1, Fair hurdler. Winner in hurdle at Limerick in April. 4/1, second of 3 in novice chase at Limerick (19.2f, good to soft) 54 days ago. Soundly beaten twice in small-field beginners' this term; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (66/1 -32%) Insouciant Dallier |
66/1(-32%) | (8) Insouciant Dallier 66/1, Fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (23.7f, soft, 33/1). Off 9 months. Makes chase debut. Absent since well held in Thurles handicap in March and seems best watched on chase bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (15) (11/2 +61%) Ballycashin |
11/2(+61%) | (15) Ballycashin 11/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Latest win in hurdle at Clonmel in May. 14/1, third of 16 in novice chase at Gowran (20f, good) on debut over fences 34 days ago. Promising recent chase debut despite jumping right; one to consider. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EL CHAMPO has failed to win in seven previous chase outings but has been running well recently and is suited by drying ground. A three-time hurdle winner, he finished second in a Listed chase at Killarney in August, chased home subsequent Troytown Chase winner Stuzzikini in October and again ran well in a useful handicap at Limerick most recently. Ballycashin also likes a sound surface and herself ran well on chase debut at Gowran over a similar distance last month, with that form being boosted by the fourth-placed horse winning subsequently. Banjaxed finished behind the Porterstown Chase winner at Down Royal last month and had previously run well at Kilbeggan. Dancingondaceiling debuts for a new yard on reappearance.
LIGHTKEEPER's hurdling form gives him a big chance and he has experience in points, so he's worth chancing on chasing debut for all that Banjaxed and El Champo both provide solid alternatives based on what they've already achieved in this sphere.
It could pay to take a chance onDANCINGONDACEILING, a points' winner who has joined Gavin Cromwell since a shock maiden hurdle win

1st (7) (3/1 +75%) Long Draw |
3/1(+75%) | (7) Long Draw 3/1, £60,000 Irish point recruit very much on the up since switched to handicaps, winning at Ffos Las (20f) in May and surpassed that form when runner-up all 4 starts since, bumping into yet another lightly-raced rival here (21f) last time. Seems sure to go well again. Runner-up four times in a row since breakthrough win in May; well worth a crack at 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (12/1 -85%) Gowel Road |
12/1(-85%) | (1) Gowel Road 12/1, Held his form well last season and ran another solid race when 5 lengths second of 12 to Doyen Quest in handicap hurdle at this course (24f, good) 27 days ago. Can give another good account. Largely consistent 8yo; second on Old course here on both outings this season; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (10/1 +17%) Wonderful Eagle |
10/1(+17%) | (10) Wonderful Eagle 10/1, Fairly useful Flat winner in Germany. Built up a good strike rate in both codes for new yard, twice a winner on the level in the summer before adding to his tally in this sphere (value for extra) at Newton Abbot (21.5f) in September. Posted a creditable third here last month and has to be respected. In good form on Flat/over hurdles since the summer; of interest on first 3m attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/10 +45%) Doyen Quest |
11/10(+45%) | (3) Doyen Quest 11/10, Most progressive sort who built on his fine reappearance second in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow when running out a 5-length winner at this course (3m) last month, quickening to lead entering final 1f and soon clear. Hiked up 10 lb but is totally unexposed as a stayer. Progressive 6yo who won in very good style when upped to 3m here last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (25/1 -25%) High Game Royal |
25/1(-25%) | (8) High Game Royal 25/1, Fairly useful handicap hurdler. Good efforts when runner-up both starts this season, including when collared in dying strides in 4-runner affair at Lingfield (23f) latterly. This is tougher, however. Close second on both starts this autumn; still on workable mark but this race is stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (14/1 -115%) Might I |
14/1(-115%) | (2) Might I 14/1, Capitalised on a falling mark in 11-runner handicap hurdle at Bangor (19.6f, soft, 7/2) 30 days ago, helped by the runner-up jinking at the last. 4 lb rise fair and ought to be on the premises again. Won off reduced mark last month but was probably a shade fortunate; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (40/1 -21%) An Tailliur |
40/1(-21%) | (5) An Tailliur 40/1, Prolific winner in handicap hurdles in 2021/22 and ran well in some hot handicaps the following season. However, nowhere near that level in 3 runs this season and is probably best watched returning to hurdling in a first-time tongue strap. Has not taken to fences this season but switches back to hurdling on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (11/1 +8%) Zain Nights |
11/1(+8%) | (6) Zain Nights 11/1, Useful stayer on the Flat for Harry & Roger Charlton and much improved over hurdles last spring, completing a handicap hat-trick in a big-field handicap at Haydock in May. Returned with a good third here in October and seemed unsuited by conditions back at Haydock on most recent outing. Three wins (one over C&D) in spring; had ground excuse last time; each-way claims at least. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 +14%) Bhaloo |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Bhaloo 12/1, Dual novice hurdle winner last season and made a winning start over fences in 4-runner handicap chase at Ascot (18.8f, good) on his return just under 6 weeks ago. Tackles 3m for the first time back over hurdles and is an interesting runner. Quickly reverts to hurdling after winning chase debut; still lightly raced; tries new trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
DOYEN QUEST accounted for Gowel Road when readily justifying favouritism at the November Meeting here and, despite a 10lb hike in the ratings, this progressive six-year-old looks like the one they all have to beat again. Gowel Road is just 2lb higher than when filling the runner-up spot that day and will likely run his usual honest race, while Long Draw and Wonderful Eagle appear closely matched on their clash at the same fixture. Might I also warrants respect following his comeback victory at Bangor.
The manner in which DOYEN QUEST overcame a significant early blunder here the previous month suggests a 10 lb higher mark may not be enough to prevent him from going in again, not least as he's totally unexposed as a stayer. Long Draw and Might I head up the opposition in a race that is likely to make for strong form.
Doyen Quest is respected but LONG DRAW is improving, despite his run of seconds, and looks interesting on his first 3m attempt.

7/2(+22%) | (1) Tiempo Alegre 7/2, Fair maiden. 5/1, good third of 11 in nursery at Wolverhampton (7f) 20 days ago, running on. Place claims again. Latest Wolverhampton third was a fair run on the figures but she looked a hard ride. |

7/2(+42%) | (8) Kaleidoscope Eyes 7/2, Modest maiden. 3/1, fourth of 6 in nursery at Newcastle (5f) 42 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Significantly back up in trip. Solid efforts in two runs for new yard, including C&D; Rossa Ryan booked; one to consider. |

3rd (5) (66/1 -100%) Fiery Angel |
66/1(-100%) | (5) Fiery Angel 66/1, Modest form at best. Tenth of 11 in nursery (28/1) at Wolverhampton (7f) 20 days ago. Best effort came over 6f in a hood; no show on nursery debut last month. |

4th (3) (13/2 +0%) Missile Mac |
13/2(+0%) | (3) Missile Mac 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 50/1, eighth of 11 in maiden at this course (6f) 30 days ago, not knocked about. No shock were she to prove a different proposition in handicaps for her top stable. Market support would look significant. In need of the experience thus far; type to take a big leap forward at some point. |

14/1(-40%) | (6) Sarabi 14/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1, sixth of 12 in maiden at Wolverhampton (6f) 32 days ago. Makes handicap debut. One to note in the betting. Latest run was her best yet; longer trip/switch to nurseries could spark some progress. |

8th (10) (12/1 -85%) Born Too Run |
12/1(-85%) | (10) Born Too Run 12/1, Creditable third of 10 in C&D nursery 39 days ago. Likely to be on the premises again. Placed over C&D last month and still has time to do better; each-way shout. |

9th (7) (5/1 +69%) Cuda Been A Rowlex |
5/1(+69%) | (7) Cuda Been A Rowlex 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Tenth of 12 in maiden (250/1) at Nottingham (5f, good). Off 6 months. Blinkered now stepping up in trip for AW and handicap debut. Poor form in three quick turf runs in the summer; several reasons to expect better today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (18/1 -29%) Never The Twain |
18/1(-29%) | (2) Never The Twain 18/1, Blinkered first time, eighth of 12 in C&D nursery (25/1) 31 days ago. Dropped another 3 lb since but need to see more. Modest form in three AW nursery runs since October; down in weights but needs more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
KALEIDOSCOPE EYES produced arguably her best effort when runner-up over C&D in October and a repeat of that performance might see her get off the mark at the eighth attempt. Sarabi is likely to appreciate a step up in trip on her nursery bow based on her most recent performance at Wolverhampton. She enters calculations along with Born Too Run and Tiempo Alegre.
A chance is taken on George Boughey handicap newcomer MISSILE MAC, with confidence in her chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Invincible Love, Born Too Run and Tiempo Alegre all showed they can be competitive from their mark last time and head the dangers.
This may be best left to one of the newcomers to handicaps. MISSILE MAC appeals as a likely big improver.

11/4(-10%) | (5) King Of Ithaca 11/4, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap (2/1) at this C&D 41 days ago, ultimately well on top. Compiling a very good course record so has to be of serious interest. Took his record over C&D to 131 when winning with some authority last month; respected. |

3rd (1) (10/3 +5%) Eligible |
10/3(+5%) | (1) Eligible 10/3, Three-time C&D winner. 4/1, cashed in on drop in grade in 10-runner handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 10 days ago. Carries 4 lb penalty but can remain very competitive. Four-time course winner; won at Newcastle last time; remains a potent threat at this level. |

9/4(+10%) | (8) Lord Rapscallion 9/4, Eleven runs since last win in 2023 though perhaps unlucky not to end that run when good second of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 8 days ago, despite conceding first run and also forced to switch. Has to be taken very seriously. Unlucky last time and 1lb well in but still to prove he is as effective on Tapeta. |

16/1(-33%) | (7) Visibility 16/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Wolverhampton in October. 6/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 28 days ago. Pretty consistent without having anything in hand of his mark. Has winning form over C&D, but this trip may be on the sharp side for him now. |

100/1(-100%) | (10) Cable Beach 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 35 days ago. Needs to up his game. Out of the frame in all four starts on Tapeta; needs to find plenty more. |

66/1(-65%) | (4) South Kensington 66/1, Blinkered for first time, last of 7 in handicap (18/1) at Ffos Las (8f, good), slowly away. Off 170 days. First run for yard after leaving Hugo Palmer and she has plenty to prove. 0-7; makes her stable debut after 170 days off; market informative. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ELIGIBLE returned to winning ways at Newcastle earlier in the month and the eight-year-old, a four-time scorer at this venue, has a strong chance of backing it up under a 4lb penalty. King Of Ithaca bids for a third track-and-trip victory in 2024 following his latest triumph here in November so must be feared. Lord Rapscallion went agonisingly close at Chelmsford last week and is another to take seriously.
LORD RAPSCALLION is a regular in better races than this and arguably should have won back from a short break at Chelmsford last week. He looks too well weighted to ignore so gets the nod in favour of King of Ithaca, who is building up a good record over C&D and last-time-out winner Eligible.
The vote goes to ELIGIBLE who won at Newcastle last time and who has gained his other four AW successes at this track.

1st (3) (4/11 +56%) Eclairage |
4/11(+56%) | (3) Eclairage 4/11, Lightly-raced winner. 2 wins from 5 runs this year. 6/4, career best when winning 8-runner nursery at this C&D 21 days ago by 5 lengths from Moonhall Lass, readily. Claims are crystal clear. Two C&D wins and up 23lb in the weights; should confirm last-time form with Moonhall Lass. |

11/1(-175%) | (4) Moonhall Lass 11/1, Fair filly. Bit below form fourth of 12 in maiden (5/1) at this course (6f) 14 days ago. Minor place money is probably the best her connections can hope for. Beaten 5l by Eclairage over C&D three weeks ago; could struggle to turn that form around. |

7/2(+13%) | (1) Ohmyviette 7/2, Thrice-raced winner. 11/4, won 9-runner maiden at this C&D 9 days ago, doing better under change of tactics. This is more demanding. Still green when winning over C&D; can run well but faces a tough task on these terms. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ECLAIRAGE may be able to land her hat-trick over C&D, despite a hefty hike for her last win. The Kuroshio filly opened her account here in October before following up in impressive fashion three weeks ago. She got a 19lb rise for that easy five-length win, but trainer Danny Murphy felt that she had matured well recently and there may be another in her. Moonhall Lass, who chased her home then, has been a solid fourth since and may get closer. A bigger danger could be Ohmyviette, who opened his account over C&D nine days ago and is open to further improvement.
The hat-trick beckons for ECLAIRAGE, who made it 2-2 on the all-weather and over this C&D when readily seeing off Moonhall Lass in a nursery three weeks ago. The latter is armed with a 14 lb pull but it's unlikely to be enough given the authority with which Daniel Murphy's charge went about her business. Tommy McJohn could be the one for the forecast this time.
It is difficult to oppose the rapidly improving ECLAIRAGE, who slammed Moonhall Lass in a C&D nursery last time.

8/1(-129%) | (9) Toussarok 8/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. Fourth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6f, 6/1) 25 days ago. Player if he can build on that. Fourth at Wolverhampton last month; return to 7f not a problem and holds each-way claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KING DAVID didn't fully appear to see out the extended mile when third at Wolverhampton last time and the return to 7f appears to be the right move for Marco Botti's gelding. Starshiba has been performing consistently well on the all-weather in recent months and is respected on his first run for a new stable, while others to note are Profit Street and Toussarok.
Marco Botti 3-y-o KING DAVID is building up a solid record in AW handicaps and can land another win. Toussarok showed his first sign of promise for the Tony Carroll yard when fourth at Wolverhampton last time and is a likely threat if he can build on that. Profit Street may prove best of the remainder.
The selection is KING DAVID who went close in one previous go over C&D and who should appreciate the return to this trip.

Sister to smart winner up to 9f River Boyne and 7.4f winner River Usk, and half-sister to several winners, including useful winner up to 6f Harome. Likely to come on for the run. Shown promise in couple of barrier trials and she's interesting here, despite widest draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (20/1 -67%) Think About It |
20/1(-67%) | (2) Think About It 20/1, Thrice-raced filly. Ninth of 14 in maiden at this course (8f, 6/1) 21 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Blinkers on 1st time and needs to raise her game. Encouraging third-place finishes on turf but backwards step back here since; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (9/1 -50%) Magnolia Drive |
9/1(-50%) | (4) Magnolia Drive 9/1, Foaled April 28. Gleneagles filly. Sister to 1½m winner Common Practice and 2-y-o 1m winner Tiscommonknowledge. Likely type on paper and it'll be interesting to see how she shapes up in the betting. Gleneagles filly; sister to winners Common Practice, Tiscommonknowledge; may want further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (80/1 -142%) Jasmine Affanalis |
80/1(-142%) | (12) Jasmine Affanalis 80/1, Foaled April 3. Highland Reel filly. Dam maiden out of US 1m winner Moon River Gal, herself half-sister to US Grade 3 6f winner Sweet Hope. Wears hood and, chances are, she'll be better for the run. Highland Reel filly; dam well held 6.7f-1m4f (RPR 47); hood for debut likely not good sign. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (33/1 +0%) Graceful Intent |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Graceful Intent 33/1, Foaled April 25. $7,000 foal, $7,000 yearling, Gormley filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including smart winner up to 1m Maftool and minor US winner by Tapit. Yard rarely strikes with newcomers. Gormley filly; cost $7,000; half-sister to 3 winners including Maftool; may need this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (22/1 -120%) Abrilete |
22/1(-120%) | (3) Abrilete 22/1, This daughter of Australia is probably more one for the longer-term and jockey bookings suggest that she is the least fancied of the yard's 3 runners. Australia filly; 50,000gns yearling; suspicion she may want further but worth market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (14) (200/1 -60%) Sliabh Na Gcroi |
200/1(-60%) | (14) Sliabh Na Gcroi 200/1, Once-raced filly. Eleventh of 14 in maiden at this course (8f, 200/1) on debut 21 days ago. Readily passed over. Well held 200-1 shot over 1m on debut here and has a tough task now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HAPPY FOR EVVA ran well on her first outing for Alan McIntyre here a fortnight ago and may be able to strike now. The Dandy Man filly stayed on when third to Aviatrice in a solid-looking maiden and going another furlong now should help. J M's Joy had some solid placed form on the grass and, coming here with a mark of 75, she is entitled to play a part. Joseph O'Brien saddles three in the race and Magnolia Drive is an interesting newcomer in the JP McManus colours. The Gleneagles filly is a full-sister to a couple of winners, including smart hurdler Common Practice.
Two of the three trained by Joseph O'Brien are appealing and preference is for newcomer MAGNOLA DRIVE, who boasts a good pedigree and it will look significant if the market speaks in her favour. Stablemate Honeysuckle Rose showed promise on her introduction at the Curragh and she is second choice ahead of J M's Joy and Happy For Evva.
There has been promise in both of HAPPY FOR EVVA's starts, particularly here last time when shaping like 7f would suit

1st (3) (5/2 -43%) Alrazeen |
5/2(-43%) | (3) Alrazeen 5/2, Course winner. 3 wins from 10 runs this year. 5/1, suited by the step back up in trip/sound gallop when winning 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (16.6f) 25 days ago, readily. Unexposed as a stayer and looks one to follow. 3-6 on Tapeta and won over a similar trip at Wolverhampton last month; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (12/1 -118%) Barenboim |
12/1(-118%) | (1) Barenboim 12/1, Possibly unsuited by conditions when ninth of 15 in handicap hurdle (22/1) at Plumpton (15.9f, good to soft) 53 days ago. Back up in trip. First run for yard after leaving Jamie Snowden. Useful performer from David O'Meara in this sphere so not without hope. Stable debut after a fruitless second spell over hurdles; not quite sure what to expect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/1 +7%) Clockmaker |
7/1(+7%) | (5) Clockmaker 7/1, 7/1, ran well on form after 4 months off when third of 4 in novice at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 27 days ago. Hiked up in trip returned to handicap company and he's likely to find a couple too strong. Good form in two of his first three starts, but not sure what to expect upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/5 +36%) Heathen |
6/5(+36%) | (2) Heathen 6/5, 11/2, proved as good as ever after 8 months off when winning 7-runner handicap at this course (14.1f) 31 days ago, value for a bit extra over the result given he picked up a couple that raced closer to the pace. Fancied to be bang there again. 3lb higher than when winning over 1m6f here last month; has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/1 +33%) Le Rouge Chinois |
5/1(+33%) | (4) Le Rouge Chinois 5/1, 9/2, confirmed return to form when fifth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, AW) 10 days ago. Has very little in hand from this mark, however. A bit in and out since his latest win; will need to be better than ever to win this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Heathen bounced back to form when winning nicely over 1m6f here and warrants plenty of respect, but ALRAZEEN was arguably even more impressive when landing the spoils over an extended 2m at Wolverhampton so he shades the verdict. Clockmaker is the least exposed member of the line-up and could land a blow on what is only his second handicap start.
ALRAZEEN notched his third career success at Wolverhampton last month and, very much remaining unexposed as a stayer, Gay Kelleway's charge gets the nod to follow up at the expense of Heathen, who proved as good as ever when scoring on return at this track last month and was arguably value for a bit extra over the result. Barenboim completes the shortlist on first start for Tom Dascombe.
This can go to ALRAZEEN who looked a stayer to follow when successful over this trip at Wolverhampton last time.

200/1(-100%) | (8) Eagles Whistle 200/1, Twice-raced filly. 150/1, last of 13 in maiden at Galway (7f, heavy) 46 days ago. Tailed off in two maidens so far at huge odds; qualifies for handicaps after this. |

16/1(0%) | (13) Triangle D'or 16/1, Twice-raced filly. Seventh of 9 in maiden (9/1) at Roscommon (7.5f, heavy), unable to sustain effort. Off 115 days. Encouraging 3rd on debut; heavy possibly against her latest; off 115 days; e/w chance. |

13th (14) (250/1 -150%) Windsor Road |
250/1(-150%) | (14) Windsor Road 250/1, Lightly-raced filly. 200/1, twelfth of 14 in maiden at this C&D. Off 11 months and more of the same likely here. Shown nothing in five starts at huge odds so far and has been off a year. |

14th (1) (200/1 +0%) Heir Island |
200/1(+0%) | (1) Heir Island 200/1, Twice-raced gelding. 100/1, eighth of 9 in maidenclaimer at this course (6f) 77 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Only beaten one home in two runs so far and tongue-tie needs to have a dramatic effect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LADY PAGASA may be able to atone after getting turned over at a short price on her last visit. The Dark Angel filly looked to be doing enough in front passing the furlong pole, but was worn down in the closing stages by newcomer Eyema Candy Girl. She has been placed over a mile so going up to seven isn't an issue and this looks a good opportunity to bag an overdue win. Prince Of Love was two and a quarter lengths behind the selection last time and with the experience under his belt, may get closer. Authenticate is progressing with racing and is another for the shortlist after her runner-up effort here early last month.
A chance is taken on debutante OCEAN DIAMOND, who ticks plenty of the right boxes on paper and, needless to say, it will be noteworthy if she's strong in the betting, Lady Pagasa has had more chances than most but she has performed with credit on all three starts since joining present yard and should be on the premises once more. Authenticate is best of the rest.
Johnny Murtagh seems to be getting a tune out of LADY PAGASA (nap) and she shaped like she would relish return to 7f last time

9th (7) (16/1 -146%) Solar Edge |

Carries 6 lb penalty on tapeta debut but still merits consideration. 2-3 in nurseries and he was well on top at the finish at Lingfield last time; 1lb well in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (16/1 -191%) Natsumi |
16/1(-191%) | (9) Natsumi 16/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Chelmsford City in November. 7/2, good second of 10 to Solar Edge in nursery at Lingfield (5f, AW) 10 days ago, nearest finish. Player. Got going too late behind Solar Edge latest; 6lb better off; this track may suit better. |

11th (12) (85/40 +72%) The Vital Spark |
85/40(+72%) | (12) The Vital Spark 85/40, Thrice-raced maiden, best effort when fourth of 8 in novice at York (6f, soft, 50/1) 63 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Should progress. One to consider. Shaped quite nicely at York when last seen in October; drop to 5f should suit; unexposed. |

12th (4) (10/3 +58%) Commander Atkinson |
10/3(+58%) | (4) Commander Atkinson 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. 18/1, creditable third of 10 in nursery at this C&D 46 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Two good nursery runs in October, including C&D; still capable of better. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A number of these look to hold claims, so FIORELLA PRINCESS receives what can only be a tentative vote. The Sands Of Mali filly has progressed in each of her three starts to date and cutting back from 6f holds no fears judged on the speed she showed at Wolverhampton last time, when only headed towards the finish. Commander Atkinson was just behind a subsequent winner when third in 0-85 company over C&D and he must enter calculations dropped in class. Solvency and Solar Edge are others to note.
Lots with chances but NATSUMI rates the pick of the weights on the back of her good recent Lingfield second so edges the vote. Sonic Si is also weighted to have a say and next on the list ahead of handicap- debutant The Vital Spark and Lingfied-scorer Solar Edge.
Competitive fare. Commander Atkinson is well up to winning a similar event but THE VITAL SPARK is interesting now dropped to 5f.

8/1(-60%) | (4) Feature This 8/1, 4-time C&D winner. Creditable third of 14 in handicap at this C&D (20/1) 35 days ago, well positioned. Live each-way contender. A 4-time C&D winner; shaped well in 3 of 4 runs for this yard incl' C&D 3rd latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
DAONETHATGOTAWAY looks capable of striking off his current mark. The Tamayuz gelding ran well 16 days ago when chasing home Rock Etoile over this trip and remains on the same mark. Tribal Moon was well supported when making a winning start on this surface last month and is open to further improvement. He looks a big player off a 5lb higher mark. Four-time C&D winner Feature This was a solid third on his last visit and is another who has to come into calculations.
TRIBAL MOON took an immediate step forward switched to this surface when landing a C&D handicap last month and a 5 lb rise is unlikely to be enough to stop him in his tracks. It's been a long time since Royal Tribute last hit the target but he should have a part to plat, while Feature This is also accorded respect. Daonethatgotaway and Esticky End are not without hope in a competitive handicap.
DAONETHATGOTAWAY went close here last time and the winner from that contest was only beaten a head from a 5lb higher mark subsequently

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8th (10) (18/1 -29%) Kohana Girl |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Difficult to be too confident about any of these, but REBEL STAR left her debut performance well behind when chasing home a short-priced favourite over this trip at Lingfield last month and she could make it third-time lucky with any further improvement. Elegant Call finished last of four in that race, but may improve from her first appearance for the Michael Appleby stable. American Fashion and Popular Dream also merit consideration.
ELEGANT CALL didn't come up to market expectations when last of 4 at Lingfield on debut for Mick Appleby but, if she's back on track, she should have too much for Rebel Star, who could do better again. American Fashion could feature if the first-time hood has the desired effect.
Rebel Star is open to further progress but POPULAR DREAM has run well in C&D handicaps the last twice and can break his duck.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (11/1 -38%) Tara Power |
11/1(-38%) | (11) Tara Power 11/1, C&D winner. Thirty one runs since last win in 2021. Respectable fifth of 14 in handicap (8/1) at this C&D 35 days ago, no extra last ½f. Can't be ruled out for all his strike rate tempers enthusiasm. Sole win came over this C&D in 2021; signs of a revival back at 1m recently but only 1-38. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (5/2 +29%) Cousin Shay |
5/2(+29%) | (6) Cousin Shay 5/2, First run since leaving John McConnell when 7/2, didn't need to improve to win 14-runner handicap at this C&D 16 days ago, by head from Man Is King. Well in the mix again with a repeat. Back to form with C&D win on yard debut; 5lb higher but possibly more to come. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (1) (18/1 -50%) Sobriety Blue |
18/1(-50%) | (1) Sobriety Blue 18/1, 15/2, below form seventh of 14 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago, never better than midfield on the back of 3 months off. Assessor has eased his grip a little more if he can build on that. A 10-race maiden and low-key return to this venue last week; enough to prove at present. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MAN IS KING has been knocking on the door here and wouldn't be winning out of turn. The Dandy Man gelding has been placed on his last three visits and lost out by just a head to Cousin Shay 16 days ago. He has been creeping up the handicap, but is entitled to be bang there again. The selection went up 3lb for that effort, while the winner Cousin Shay got 7lb, so he may be able to turn the tables. Lorr's Girl, who was a length and a half behind the pair, is another who has to come into the mix having been left on the same mark.
VIVA VOCE showed the benefit of a recent run when finishing a creditable third in a C&D handicap 16 days ago and a repeat should see him go close from the same mark. Cousin Shay and Man Is King finished 1-2 respectively in a C&D contest recently and rate an obvious pair of dangers once more.
After a winning start for his new yard over C&D last time, COUSIN SHAY could be the one to side with from just 5lb higher

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (22/1 +27%) Rodborough |
22/1(+27%) | (6) Rodborough 22/1, 3-time C&D winner. Eleventh of 12 in handicap at this C&D (28/1) 64 days ago. Others appeal more. Three-time C&D winner; struggling this autumn though and may need more weight off her back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (20/1 +20%) Jeans Maite |
20/1(+20%) | (7) Jeans Maite 20/1, 5-time C&D winner. 40/1, below form sixth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 22 days ago. Others more persuasive. Conditions ideal and she should be sharper for her recent reappearance; interesting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MASTER OF MY FATE has tumbled 13lb in the handicap this year and looks set to take advantage based on Monday's second at Newcastle. Beaten only a head on that occasion, a return to winning ways looks imminent. One More Wave landed a higher grade sprint over C&D in November and returns to this venue with every chance, while Smooth Silesie is not out of it either and makes more appeal than Counsel over this minimum trip.
MASTER OF MY FATE signalled he is ready to go in again when an excellent recent second at Newcastle and can go one better off the same mark here. C&D scorer One More Wave appeals as the one to chase him home ahead of Smooth Silesie and Counsel.
Master Of My Fate is seriously respected after his near miss on Monday but the trailblazing JEANS MAITE can gain her sixth C&D win.

Creditable third of 8 in handicap at this C&D (10/3) 16 days ago, left with a lot to do following an uncharacteristically very slow start. Up to playing his part again in bid to follow up last year's win in this race. Beat Harry's Bar two starts ago and coped well with this mark last time so is a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/3 +49%) Mehman |
10/3(+49%) | (7) Mehman 10/3, Course winner. Creditable second of 14 in handicap at this course (7f, 7/2) 16 days ago, clear of rest. Has good chance on form returned to sprinting. All four wins have been at 5f but some solid runs up to 7f lately; should be involved. |

4th (6) (10/1 +0%) Current Option |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (3/1 +14%) Harry's Bar |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Harry's Bar 3/1, First run since leaving Jack W. Has 15 AW wins but none in the last year; still likely to be in the thick of the action. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 -50%) Inishmot Prince |
12/1(-50%) | (4) Inishmot Prince 12/1, 3-time C&D winner. Latest win at Navan in September. Respectable fourth of 10 in handicap (10/1) at this course (5f) 7 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Nine wins at this track and goes well for this rider but is probably better at 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (22/1 +21%) Hero Of The Hour |
22/1(+21%) | (10) Hero Of The Hour 22/1, 3-time C&D winner who added to his tally over 5f here in October. 14/1, struggled to scale same heights since, only eighth of 10 in handicap at this course (5f) 7 days ago. His six wins includes four here but hasn't been at his best on last few starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (17/2 -55%) Dontspoilasale |
17/2(-55%) | (3) Dontspoilasale 17/2, Latest win over C&D in November and confirmed himself better than ever when second of 8 in handicap at this C&D (10/1) 16 days ago, no match for winner. Easy to envisage him in the shake-up again in present groove. Coped well with this mark last time after beating Dream Today previously; a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (9/1 -13%) James Henry |
9/1(-13%) | (9) James Henry 9/1, C&D winner. 11/2, respectable third of 14 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago, not quicken final 1f. Others more persuasive. Dual course winner was solid in defeat the last twice but needs more up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (28/1 -180%) Dream Today |
28/1(-180%) | (5) Dream Today 28/1, 4-time C&D winner. Respectable sixth of 10 in handicap (17/2) at this course (5f) 7 days ago, slowly away. Yard in good form and another who looks set to give another good account of himself. Six of his 10 wins have been on AW; not beaten far last thrice and can be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (50/1 -213%) Superior Force |
50/1(-213%) | (11) Superior Force 50/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2021. Respectable third of 13 in handicap at Cork (7f, good to soft, 9/2). Off 6 months. First run for yard after leaving Adrian Murray. Dual turf winner has run well in defeat on this surface but this trip looks on short side. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MEHMAN may be able to get his head in front again after some decent efforts. The Mehmas gelding came to win his race a furlong from home here last time before getting outstayed late on by Clarita. That came over 7f and dropping back to 6f now looks an obvious move. All his previous wins have come at 5f. Course regular Harry's Bar commands obvious respect after two solid runs here this campaign. He is a four-time C&D winner. Inishmot Prince is another old favourite around here and also has to be on the shortlist.
A good quality sprint contest with MEHMAN narrowly selected to come out on top. He's shaped well on each of his last 3 starts around here at up to 7f, and he's fancied to capitalise returned to sprinting. Harry's Bar, Daamberdiplomat and Dontspoilasale are a trio of fellow in-form sorts and also demand consideration.
There shouldn't be much between DAAMBERDIPLOMAT, Harry's Bar and Dontspoilasale. The first-named is just preferred.

9th (7) (18/1 -125%) Upper Hand |
18/1(-125%) | (7) Upper Hand 18/1, Yet to get his head in front but showed benefit of a recent run when finishing good third of 11 in handicap (25/1) at this course (7.1f) 43 days ago, staying on final 1f. Worth considering back up at 1m with blinkers/tongue tie again applied. 0-12 but ran his best race of the year here last time; stamina to prove but not dismissed. |

10th (9) (28/1 -75%) Vanity Pays |
28/1(-75%) | (9) Vanity Pays 28/1, Remains a maiden after 19 Flat runs. Below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Redcar (7f, soft, 40/1) 56 days ago. Others stronger now returned to all-weather. Modest of late and now 0-19; others make greater appeal. |

11th (5) (80/1 -60%) The Toff |
80/1(-60%) | (5) The Toff 80/1, One win from 24 Flat runs. 50/1, last of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 25 days ago, folding tamely. Significantly up in trip. Has it to prove. 1-24; hasn't beaten many in six starts this year; look elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
CHERRY HILL is potentially well treated competing off a 7lb lower mark than when last successful. Dominic Ffrench Davis' filly has been thereabouts at Kempton recently and is likely to prove competitive once again. A winner at Newcastle last month, Just Typical is usually in the mix at this level, while Northern Cracksman will be sharper for a comeback run here and merits consideration on only his second start for his new trainer.
CHERRY HILL has highlighted her turn could well be near from her much-reduced mark in recent starts and she gets the narrow vote to prove as much now. Just Typical, Upper Hand and Northern Cracksman are others to consider, as is top-weight Alexander James in a wide-open contest.
The best option looks to be JUST TYPICAL (nap) given that he has been running well on Tapeta in recent months.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HASIYNA travelled well into the race here last time and was probably value for a bit more than her winning margin. The Tamayuz filly was always doing enough in the closing stages to hold Wild Mountain by a neck and, off just a 3lb higher mark, she may be able to follow up. The runner-up is only 1lb higher and is entitled to run a big race again. Jackie Brown got home in a tight finish here three weeks ago and is 4lb higher now. There might be a bit more to come from her.
WILD MOUNTAIN looks the way to go on the back of his very good C&D second last time out nudged up just 1 lb here. Course-socrer Winemaker is weighted to go well and next on the list ahead of Jackie Brown and Senado Square.
C&D winner AMERICAN IN PARIS might be able to improve enough on her comeback run to turn the tables on Hasiyna and Wild Mountain.

6/1(+20%) | (2) Tyger Bay 6/1, Good third of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 4/1) 10 days ago. Reproduction of that effort would give him an each-way chance. Handicapped to win and promising signs the last twice; key player under good amateur. |

4th (4) (5/2 +75%) Showtime Mahomes |
5/2(+75%) | (4) Showtime Mahomes 5/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. 11/1, respectable third of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 7 days ago. Can make presence felt. C&D win last month; solid third at Newcastle last week; should remain competitive. |

6th (5) (17/2 +23%) Airshow |
17/2(+23%) | (5) Airshow 17/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Salisbury in August. Creditable fifth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 18/1) 29 days ago. No more than an each-way squeak. Prolific down the years and he comes here in fair form; others appeal more back at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (25/1 -213%) Gogo Yubari |
25/1(-213%) | (6) Gogo Yubari 25/1, Five wins from 14 runs this year. Good third of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 18/1) 28 days ago. Likely to find a few too good here. Had a fine year and last month's return from a break was encouraging; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (28/1 -100%) Jump The Gun |
28/1(-100%) | (3) Jump The Gun 28/1, Unreliable sort. C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Eighth of 9 in handicap (6/1) at Ayr (6f, good) 73 days ago. Others preferred. On a dangerous mark; quiet this year but down in class and a revival could be imminent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (33/1 -230%) First Company |
33/1(-230%) | (8) First Company 33/1, Latest win at Kempton in November. Good second of 10 in handicap at this C&D (33/1) 25 days ago. Has to enter calculations. In fine form at Class 6 level of late, including C&D: more needed in this field though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (28/1 -273%) No Saint |
28/1(-273%) | (11) No Saint 28/1, Course winner. Won 11-runner handicap (8/11) at Chelmsford City (7f) 34 days ago, pushed out. 7 lb higher mark to contend with on debut for new yard and, though respected in his hat-trick bid, he may come unstuck. Chasing a hat-trick but up in weights and down in trip on his stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (66/1 -100%) Kingwood Queen |
66/1(-100%) | (9) Kingwood Queen 66/1, Winner at Bath in June. 14/1, first run since leaving Ralph Smith when creditable sixth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 28 days ago. Looks vulnerable. Has the requisite ability to feature but she has some quirks and could prove vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (14/1 +0%) Yorkstone |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Yorkstone 14/1, Course winner. 25/1, respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 20 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Booking of Serena Brotherton is a plus but others are more appealing all the same. Ended 2023 in fine form; promise latest but could prove vulnerable back in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Placed at Newcastle last week, SHOWTIME MAHOMES won over C&D before that and Grant Tuer's charge gets another chance back at this venue. Monsieur Beaulieu hosed up by five lengths over 7f at Lingfield and can feature again with a 5lb penalty negated by his rider's allowance, while No Saint also drops down in distance having landed a double with last month's success at Chelmsford. First Company is not out of it either.
Following his clear-cut success at Lingfield last week, MONSIEUR BEAULIEU will surely take plenty of stopping under a penalty with this drop back to 6f unlikely to pose a problem. Ormolulu came from further back than the eventual winner Showtime Mahomes when a close third over this C&D last month and she is feared most ahead of First Company.
A deep race of its type. Monsieur Beaulieu and Ormolulu are respected but GOGO YUBARI can build on last month's reappearance.

7/4(+50%) | (5) Pepper Noir 7/4, 5/1, career best when winning 11-runner handicap at this C&D 16 days ago. Can go well again. Back on the scoresheet raised to this trip last time; up 6lb so will have to do more. |

16/1(-33%) | (11) Picpoul 16/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. Eleventh of 13 in handicap at this C&D (7/2) 44 days ago. Enters calculations if shrugging off latest effort. Triple course winner ran poorly over this trip last time; has to bounce back. |

3rd (1) (14/1 -75%) Brosna Town |
14/1(-75%) | (1) Brosna Town 14/1, Lightly-raced winner. Tongue strap on for 1st time, well-beaten last of 8 to Chemistry in listed race at Leopardstown (14f, good, 125/1). Off 113 days. Not easy to make a case for. Turf maiden winner has a bit to prove off this mark on AW debut after an absence. |

4th (2) (7/2 -40%) Pralognan |
7/2(-40%) | (2) Pralognan 7/2, Eleven runs since last win in 2021. Respectable third of 11 in handicap at this course (10.7f, 3/1) 21 days ago. Onr to consider. Good efforts in defeat including over 1m2f-1m4f here last twice; go well off same mark. |

5th (4) (11/2 -65%) Enough Already |
11/2(-65%) | (4) Enough Already 11/2, C&D winner in November. Possibly found the race coming too quickly when fourth of 11 to Pepper Noir in handicap (11/8) at this C&D 16 days ago. Well worth another chance. Won over C&D last month but couldn't follow up under a 7lb penalty five days later. |

9th (6) (16/1 -14%) Sportingsilvermine |
16/1(-14%) | (6) Sportingsilvermine 16/1, Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. 7/1, respectable sixth of 11 in maiden at this course (10.7f) 7 days ago. Needs considering. Some decent efforts including in a C&D maiden last month; has to do more off this mark. |

10th (3) (15/2 +46%) Sir Callisto |
15/2(+46%) | (3) Sir Callisto 15/2, Tongue strap on for 1st time, seventeenth of 18 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, good, 33/1) on IRE flat debut. Flat winner in France; bit to prove on his two Irish runs but jockey booking takes the eye. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (100/1 -203%) Sub Rosa |
100/1(-203%) | (9) Sub Rosa 100/1, Seventeenth of 18 in handicap (150/1) at the Curragh (12f, good). Off 168 days. Difficult ask. Well below her former level for this yard this term; not easy to fancy after a break. |

12th (7) (100/1 -257%) Sweet Sundowner |
100/1(-257%) | (7) Sweet Sundowner 100/1, 33/1, first run since leaving E. Monfort when thirteenth of 18 in handicap at Galway (8.3f, heavy) on IRE debut 46 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Tongue strap on 1st time. Uphill task. Well below best on debut for this yard in testing ground; this surface should suit better. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PEPPER NOIR handled the step up to this trip really well here 16 days ago and may be able to follow up. The Outstrip filly was pressed late on then by Tudor Manor, but was a cosy enough winner and is fancied to defy a 6lb rise. Enough Already was trying to defy a 7lb penalty in that race, but could only finish fourth. He remains on the same mark and is capable of getting closer. Pralognan has been knocking on the door and could be place material again. His trainer Tony Martin also saddles Sir Callisto and Colin Keane is an eyecatching booking for that horse so market moves could be noteworthy.
ENOUGH ALREADY scored over C&D last month and is worth siding with to quickly resume winning ways having possibly found the run coming too fast when fourth here last time out. Recent C&D victor Pepper Noir heads the list of dangers, with the handily-weighted Pralognan another to consider. Trethorn completes the shortlist.
With two solid efforts in defeat at this venue lately, PRALOGNAN can get back on the scoresheet today.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
