1st (3) (5/2 +44%) Birchdale |
5/2(+44%) | (3) Birchdale 5/2, Useful chaser. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Not disgraced in form terms when third of 10 in handicap chase at Listowel (22f, soft, 20/1) 64 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Still, he's not out of things if a short break has had positive effect. Ran well enough on sole try at this discipline in April; should be capable of a big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (16/1 -167%) Vital Island |
16/1(-167%) | (2) Vital Island 16/1, Course winner. Latest win in La Touche Cup in April. Pulled up in listed cross-country race (20/1) at Craon (29.8f, good) 84 days ago won by Bomari, pulled up early final circuit. Better showing anticipated. Dual winner over this course; probably better on a sounder surface but can run well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 +31%) Mica Malpic |
9/2(+31%) | (1) Mica Malpic 9/2, Fairly useful chaser. Latest win in chase at Kilbeggan in August. 11/2, fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Limerick (19f, heavy) 35 days ago, finishing with running left. Step back up in trip a plus now and no surprise to see him go well. Won over 2m3f at Kilbeggan in August; can run well if adapting to this discipline. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (17/2 +15%) Three By Two |
17/2(+15%) | (8) Three By Two 17/2, Dead-heated in a point prior to seeing off Vital Island on her Cross-Country debut here (25f) in April. Good third back here later that month and she's less exposed than most in this discipline. Won and a close 3rd over C&D in April; lacks a recent run but a contender if ready. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4/1 -60%) Enjoy D'allen |
4/1(-60%) | (6) Enjoy D'allen 4/1, Useful chaser at his best who was quite highly tried last term and he never looked happy from an early stage when well twelfth in last season's Grand National at Aintree. This much less demanding if he's ready to roll back from 7 months off with headgear discarded. Unplaced all starts last season; has the class to run well if adapting to this discipline. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (9/2 +25%) Champagne Platinum |
9/2(+25%) | (5) Champagne Platinum 9/2, Unreliable individual. 22/1, below form seventh of 14 in handicap chase at Cork (28f, soft) 21 days ago, possibly in need of the run following 7 months off. Cheekpieces back on here but he's become increasingly difficult to predict nowadays. Was beaten 52l in this race last year on sole try at this discipline; has to do way better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (5/1 +23%) Singing Banjo |
5/1(+23%) | (7) Singing Banjo 5/1, Veteran campaigner who gave Delta Work a scare when just touched off in this race 12 months ago and another sound effort when runner-up back here (25f) in February. Recent spin between the flags (Oct.15) ought to have set him up perfectly for this. Poor in a point last time but was just denied in this race last year by Delta Work. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (40/1 -344%) Blast Of Koeman |
40/1(-344%) | (4) Blast Of Koeman 40/1, Temperamental sort. Two wins from 52 NH runs. Good second of 14 in minor event chase at this course (25f) in April, running on. Finished midfield in this race 12 months ago and this run may well be needed back from 7 months off. Was 2nd over C&D in April, just in front of Three By Two; capable of a decent showing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A case can be made for all of these but marginal preference is for VITAL ISLAND, who won the La Touche Cup over this course in April. His most recent effort in France can be forgiven and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back to form. Enjoy D'allen could prove to be a class above these rivals if taking to this test, while Blast Of Koeman and Singing Banjo are others who could make the frame.
A number may have their sights set on targets later in the season but last year's runner-up SINGING BANJO has a particularly solid record at this venue and, with a recent spin between the Flags under his belt, the veteran could well be ready to strike. Enjoy d'Allen is an intriguing runner in this discipline and market support behind him would look significant. Birchdale and Mica Malpic are others worth monitoring.
Though he is probably more effective on better ground, VITAL ISLAND might be able to get away with this surface and notch another win.

1st (5) (6/4 +70%) Ten Lengths Tom |
6/4(+70%) | (5) Ten Lengths Tom 6/4, Fairly useful in bumpers (successful on second of 2 starts) last term but shaped as if in need of initial experience when sixth of 12 in novice hurdle at Ascot (15.7f) 3 weeks ago. This ought to reveal good deal more. Rather disappointing at Ascot (1m7f, soft) but looked to be crying out for a longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/2 +27%) Itsnoteasy |
11/2(+27%) | (2) Itsnoteasy 11/2, £100,000 5-y-o, Ocovango gelding. Easily off mark in Irish points at fourth attempt (May 7) but shaped as if better for the run when fifth of 11 in a C&D maiden on hurdles debut 7 weeks ago. Improvement likely. Won Irish point before £100,000 sale; modest 5th on hurdle debut here (2m4f, good to soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (2/1 -45%) Micro Millions |
2/1(-45%) | (3) Micro Millions 2/1, £40,000 5-y-o. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Apr 2). 6/1, promising start over hurdles when third of 15 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (19.4f, soft) on NH debut 26 days ago. In good hands and entitled to build on that here. 6-1 when third of 15 in maiden at Chepstow (2m3f, good to soft) nearly four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/2 -189%) Chatshow Tv |
13/2(-189%) | (1) Chatshow Tv 13/2, £150,000 4-y-o, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Finished runner-up sole start in Irish points and showed plenty sent hurdling when third in a Warwick novice (19f) 19 days ago. Entitled to build on that run here and he's worth considering. £150,000 buy; 20-1, kept on for third of 12 in novice hurdle at Warwick (2m3f, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (150/1 -127%) Wexford Park |
150/1(-127%) | (4) Wexford Park 150/1, £36,000 buy after finishing in the money on both starts in Irish points earlier this year. Well beaten only start in bumpers and shaped like a dour stayer when fourth of 7 in an Aintree novice hurdle (20f, heavy) 2 weeks back. One for longer trips/later on. After his two points, a bumper and a novice hurdle, others have shown a good deal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (14/1 -100%) Tough Approach |
14/1(-100%) | (6) Tough Approach 14/1, Runner-up sole start in Irish points in March and showed plenty to work on when third in a bumper at Newton Abbot last month. No reason why he won't make his mark now hurdling and interesting what the market makes of him. Placed in a point and bumper; dam a smart hurdler/chaser and he's one to keep an eye on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TEN LENGTHS TOM looks set to relish this step up in trip judging by his effort over just short of 2m at Ascot a few weeks ago and Tom Lacey's bumper winner merits the utmost respect as a result. Chatshow Tv and Micro Millions both made the frame on their respective Rules debuts and are likely to go well once again, while Tough Approach also makes the shortlist.
A £150,000 purchase from points, CHATSHOW TV shaped with a good deal of promise when third on his hurdles debut at Warwick 3 weeks ago, and with improvement expected, he looks to hold sound claims of coming out on top here. Similar comments apply to Micro Millions and he heads up the dangers. Ten Lengths Tom and Tough Approach are others to be positive about.
It's not easy to judge who will come on the most but CHATSHOW TV earns the narrow vote following his encouraging display at Warwick.

5/2(+58%) | (8) Tactical Affair 5/2, Third of 9 in bumper (9/2) at Galway (16.4f, heavy) 29 days ago. Makes hurdles debut for excellent yard so has to be of interest. Definite contender on evidence of two good runs in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (14) (9/2 -13%) Picture Of You |
9/2(-13%) | (14) Picture Of You 9/2, Promising individual. 20/1 and hood on, third of 18 in novice hurdle at this C&D (soft) on NH debut 21 days ago. Likely to step up on that. C&D comeback third three weeks ago augurs well but more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/2 +38%) Maxi Mac Gold |
5/2(+38%) | (6) Maxi Mac Gold 5/2, Promising sort. 8/1, second of 18 in novice hurdle at this C&D (soft) on hurdles bow 21 days ago. Should progress. Second to a clear-cut winner in similar contest three weeks ago; big player. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ENOLA, a Listed winner on the Flat in France, is hard to get away from on hurdling debut. The Willie Mullins-trained filly has form on soft ground and given that she won over 10 furlongs on the level, her stamina is more or less assured. The champion trainer often introduces a nice type at this venue so she could potentially be quite smart. Maxi Mac Gold chased home a well-regarded horse when runner-up here on his hurdling debut earlier this month. Paul Nolan's gelding is entitled to improve from that run so should be a leading contender. Picture Of You doesn't have a great deal to find with the latter as she was just a length back in third in that aforementioned race. There is unlikely to be very much between the pair once again.
ENOLA displayed useful ability on the Flat in France and sure to be well prepared for this hurdles bow, she's fancied to outclass these. Maxi Mac Gold and Picture of You head the opposition.
Willie Mullins introduces a recent 200,000euros buy ENOLA, a Listed winner on soft ground in France, who should take plenty of beating

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (7) (4/1 +27%) Shannon Royale |
4/1(+27%) | (7) Shannon Royale 4/1, Successful on second of 2 starts in bumpers last term and made a bright start over hurdles, third of 9 in novice hurdle at Thurles (23f, soft, 9/4) 24 days ago, headed after last and no extra. Cheekpieces on 1st time and entitled to be thereabouts. Placed in two maiden hurdles after a summer break; should run another sound race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (1/8 +64%) Tullyhill |
1/8(+64%) | (8) Tullyhill 1/8, Successful on sole start in points and justified cramped odds to score with ease on bumper debut at Gowran (18f, heavy) in March. Produced a decidedly smart effort when runner-up in Grade 1 contest here in April and he rates the type to take high rank in this division. Runner-up in the Grade 1 Champion Bumper here; should take beating on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (40/1 -43%) Rocco Boyo |
40/1(-43%) | (6) Rocco Boyo 40/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 11/2, third of 9 in bumper at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) 55 days ago, making effort earlier than ideal. Makes hurdles debut. Significantly up in trip. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Will have to improve plenty to threaten the principals on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (40/1 -43%) Doonbeg Don |
40/1(-43%) | (2) Doonbeg Don 40/1, Runner-up only start in points but no short-term encouragement to glean from bumper/maiden hurdle exploits 7 months apart. Probably one for later on. Well beaten in a bumper and maiden hurdle so has to find a lot of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (200/1 +0%) Party Rocker |
200/1(+0%) | (5) Party Rocker 200/1, No impact in bumper/maiden hurdles. Well beaten on all starts and is out of his depth against some of these rivals. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
All eyes will be on TULLYHILL as he makes his eagerly-awaited hurdling debut. Bought for 220,000 pounds at the Cheltenham sale last November, the five-year-old created a deep impression when sauntering to victory at Gowran in March before running a fine race in defeat behind A Dream To Share in the Grade 1 bumper here. He has shown his versatility regarding ground conditions and is expected to make a winning start over timber. Shannon Royale is now tried in cheekpieces following his recent third at Thurles, while Rocco Boyo might be the one for third.
A winner of his only start in points, TULLYHILL quickly confirmed himself a decidedly smart performer in bumpers, successful at Gowran prior to finishing runner-up in Grade 1 company here in April. A most exciting debutant in this sphere, he's expected to prove tough to beat. Shannon Royale and Mister Pink rate most likely to give the selection most to think about.
Runner-up in the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at this track when last seen, TULLYHILL will take all the beating on hurdling debut.

7/4(-75%) | (1) Salver 7/4, Half-brother to 3 winners, including very smart hurdler Saldier. Down the field in a maiden on the Flat in Italy in the spring but a totally different proposition when overcoming inexperience to make a winning start over hurdles at Warwick 19 days ago. Useful prospect. Half-brother smart hurdler Saldier; should build on Warwick success; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (2/1 +56%) Valadon |
2/1(+56%) | (9) Valadon 2/1, Vadamos gelding. Half-brother to useful 1¼m winner Venice Biennale. Dam unraced. Noteworthy newcomer. 29,000gns yearling; half-brother to a 1m2f winner; market instructive on debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (66/1 +0%) Parish Star |
66/1(+0%) | (10) Parish Star 66/1, Modest on the Flat in Ireland for Jim Bolger and didn't achieve much when a remote fourth of 7 on his Chepstow hurdle debut 6 weeks ago. The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SALVER, who is a half-brother to the Grade 1 winner Saldier, created a big impression when winning on his UK/hurdles debut at Warwick recently and he is hard to oppose as a result, despite carrying a 7lb penalty. Johannes has to be of interest having scored on the level in France, while Valadon and Authoceltic are others who make the shortlist.
SALVER looked potentially useful when scoring on his Warwick hurdle debut and is taken to make light of his penalty. French Flat winner Johannes looks a likely type for a race like this, while Valadon and Authoceltic are newcomers with plenty to recommend them on paper.
Warwick winner SALVER is the form pick. French Flat scorer Johannes and interesting newcomer Authoceltic look the main threats.

LITTLE MISS DANTE had plenty in hand when winning impressively on her hurdling debut at Ayr earlier in the month and the daughter of Kayf Tara sets the standard, despite carrying a 7lb penalty. Party Vibes only found one too good on her Rules bow at Chepstow recently and is an obvious threat to the selection. The point-to-point winner Lady In The Park should not be underestimated following a promising bumper effort at Aintree.
PARTY VIBES jumped fluently for a hurdles newcomer when runner-up at Chepstow 3 weeks ago and the 7 lb she receives from Ayr winner Little Miss Dante may prove to be decisive. Of the rest, winning-pointer Idylle Sauvage has transferred to an excellent yard so she demands respect.
Henry Daly's PARTY VIBES succumbed only to a fairly useful gelding after making a bold bid from the front on her recent hurdling debut.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
READIN TOMMY WRONG looks a thoroughly progressive gelding who can strike at the first attempt over flights. Runner-up on his only point-to-point start, the five-year-old made an immediate impact under Rules when successful in two bumper starts back in May. Willie Mullins has given him time to develop over the summer and the gelding can repay that patience here. Stablemate Lisnagar Fortune won his bumper first time up but has since been a beaten favourite twice over hurdles. The Soldier Of Fortune gelding drops back to the minimum trip so has to be given serious consideration. Punchestown winner Walk Away Harry was relatively weak in the market prior to his recent hurdling debut at Limerick. The Charles Byrnes-trained gelding is sure to strip much fitter now.
READIN TOMMY WRONG showed useful form when winning both his starts in bumpers in May and can make a successful start in this sphere at the main expense of stablemate Lisnagar Fortune, who has been beaten twice at odd-on in this sphere. Well-connected newcomer Staffordshire Knot is one to note.
Not much strength in depth with dual bumper winner and Grade 1 entered READIN TOMMY WRONG looking a standout given a clear round

28/1(-100%) | (7) Marronstown 28/1, 18/1, below form fifth of 15 in novice hurdle at Down Royal (22.5f, soft) 16 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Hard to make a case for. A maiden over hurdles, will need to raise his game in order to make his presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (15) (18/1 -80%) Benkei |
18/1(-80%) | (15) Benkei 18/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2018. 22/1, good second of 19 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (24.1f, soft) 16 days ago, running on. Heading back in the right direction recently. Last win came in 2m6f Killarney handicap in 2018 but has been enjoying a new lease of life. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|R| (9) (9/1 +10%) Balkito |
9/1(+10%) | (9) Balkito 9/1, 11/2, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap chase at this course (22.7f, heavy). Off 10 months. Switches from chase to hurdles. Enters calculations if fully tuned up. Potentially well-handicapped relative to his chase rating, lacks a recent outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (14) (50/1 -100%) Pictures Of Home |
50/1(-100%) | (14) Pictures Of Home 50/1, 9/1, eleventh of 12 in novice chase at Tramore (21.4f, soft). Off 11 months. Switches from chase to hurdles with lots more needed. Off for almost a year and faces a difficult task against that background. |

|PU| (10) (12/1 -100%) Millstream Lady |
12/1(-100%) | (10) Millstream Lady 12/1, Scored at Listowel before posting an excellent second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (19.4f, heavy) 35 days ago, just failing. Up in trip. Holds good claims despite a 4 lb rise. Needed the intervention of the stewards at Limerick, still appeals as a progressive mare. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (15/2 -36%) Irish Envoy |
15/2(-36%) | (6) Irish Envoy 15/2, Promising sort. Career best when winning 22-runner handicap hurdle (16/1) at this course (20f, good) 47 days ago, digging deep. Up in trip. Not taken lightly. Form has been erratic but worth considering on the basis of course 2m4f win, up 7lb. |

33/1(-136%) | (8) It Could Be You 33/1, Fifteenth of 17 in handicap hurdle at this course (20f, good to soft, 33/1) 46 days ago. Back up in trip with work to do. Big price when towards the rear at this venue on his seasonal debut, up against it. |

|PU| (16) (80/1 -100%) One Of Us Is Lying |

Needs a couple of these to falter. Very modest hurdles form during the summer, has struggled in two recent Down Royal events. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
QUEST WITH SPEED was quite taking when opening his account in a maiden hurdle at Limerick on Tuesday. The six-year-old appears to be ahead of the assessor judged on that performance and he may be able to defy a 7lb penalty. Fellow handicap debutant Bob Cigar looks to be on a workable mark after some solid efforts in defeat in the spring and he may give the selection most to think about, ahead of last-time-out course winner Irish Envoy.
Lots with chances. MILLSTREAM LADY arrives on the up and with this longer trip also a likely plus then Eric McNamara's mare can quickly resume winning ways. Irish Envoy is next on the list on the back of his course success last time, with Gordon Elliott's handicap-debutant Bob Cigar also not taken lightly. Quest With Speed, Benkei and Ballycashin complete the shortlist.
Plenty in with a chance here. An each-way vote is given to DR VAL, a C&D winner who can improve from his seasonal debut at Cork

7/1(+56%) | (2) Don't Rightly Know 7/1, Point winner who left Rules debut behind when runner-up back from 14 months off in 22.2f Uttoxeter novice in December 2021, rallying for second run-in. Off a further 23 months so clearly been difficult to train. Uttoxeter second (2m6f, good to soft) in December 2021 looked promising; absent 709 days. |

2nd (1) (8/11 +47%) Getaway Theatre |
8/11(+47%) | (1) Getaway Theatre 8/11, €3,000 3-y-o, Getaway mare. Dam (c134/h124), 2½m-3m hurdle/chase winner, closely related to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3m) Clan Tara. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt in April and well suited by emphasis on stamina when making winning hurdles bow over 22f at Stratford 3 weeks ago. Won Irish point (3m, soft) in April and maiden hurdle at Stratford (2m6f, soft) this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (33/1 +50%) Kayf Hope |
33/1(+50%) | (4) Kayf Hope 33/1, Cost £55,000 after winning an Irish point in November. Too keen to last out in a Southwell bumper in March and must settle upped markedly in trip for hurdles debut. Irish point win; soundly beaten, making most, in Southwell bumper (good to soft) in March. |

4th (6) (80/1 -21%) Nomoreblackjack |
80/1(-21%) | (6) Nomoreblackjack 80/1, Third on first of 2 starts in points but looks a low-level handicap project judged on level achieved under Rules so far. Well beaten in two maiden points, a bumper and 1m7f maiden hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/2 -340%) Hamartia |
11/2(-340%) | (3) Hamartia 11/2, Placed twice in maiden company in Ireland for Colm Murphy. Fell when last seen in July but this looks a reasonable starting point for her British career. Up in trip. Placed in maiden hurdles at 2m3f/2m5f for Colm Murphy in Ireland; should stay; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (7/2 +13%) Von Hallers |
7/2(+13%) | (5) Von Hallers 7/2, Presenting mare who is a half-sister to bumper winner/fair 19f hurdle winner Blue Hop. Winner of the second of her 2 starts between the flags and still in contention when departing through no fault of her own on hurdles bow last month. Tongue tie on. Won an Irish point; she'd been headed when hampered and unseating in 2m5f Ludlow novice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GETAWAY THEATRE confirmed the promise that she had displayed between the flags when winning on her Rules debut at Stratford earlier in the month and she could prove hard to beat once again with improvement likely. Hamartia has to be of interest on her first start for Neil Mulholland, while Von Hallers and Don't Rightly Know are the pick of the remainder.
Stamina is clearly GETAWAY THEATRE's forte following a gritty win on hurdles debut at Stratford 3 weeks ago and, kept to her own sex, she's capable of successfully defying a penalty. Hamartia is bred to stay well so is feared upped in trip starting out for a new yard, while Von Hallers will hopefully show what she's capable of this time.
Getaway Theatre should have a big say but this may be the right opportunity for HAMARTIA to build on her placed efforts in Ireland.

1st (1) (2/1 -23%) Autonomous Cloud |
2/1(-23%) | (1) Autonomous Cloud 2/1, Progressive young chaser who signed off for last term with success in 10-runner handicap over C&D (soft) in March. Yard among the winners so he's a player on his return. Not seen since collecting a good prize over C&D in March but still a big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/1 -118%) Step Above |
6/1(-118%) | (3) Step Above 6/1, Winning Irish pointer who made a successful hurdles debut at Ayr 12 months ago. Sent chasing after 10 months off when a keen-going third of five in 2m4f Hexham novice handicap last month. Could well leave that form behind here. Not beaten far when third of five on chase/handicap debut; up in trip; still has potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (2) (5/4 +38%) Broomfield Present |
5/4(+38%) | (2) Broomfield Present 5/4, Useful winning hurdler last season who made a promising start in this sphere when third of 12 in handicap chase at Exeter (24.2f, soft) 16 days ago. Has more to offer so big shout off an unchanged mark. Placed on recent chasing debut and might be seen to even better effect on today's ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (11/2 +31%) Farmer's Gamble |
11/2(+31%) | (4) Farmer's Gamble 11/2, Back to winning ways in 23f handicap hurdle at Exeter in February but has disappointed both runs subsequently, pulled up on his chasing debut at Warwick 18 days ago. In excellent hands and worth another chance. Triple hurdle winner; pulled up on chase debut, having made a bad jumping error. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Autonomous Cloud has to be respected having won a competitive event over C&D in March, but his lack of a recent run may give the edge to BROOMFIELD PRESENT. Kim Bailey's gelding showed plenty of promise over hurdles last season and was far from disgraced on his chasing bow against more seasoned rivals at Exeter. With the benefit of that outing, he gets the vote. Step Above and Farmer's Gamble cannot be discounted, but the former is the pick of that pair.
None of the quartet can be ruled out but Kim Bailey's low-mileage 7-y-o BROOMFIELD PRESENT is fancied to build on the promise of his Exeter third and get off the mark in this sphere. Fergal O'Brien's improving Autonomous Cloud rates a big threat on his return though, while it would come as no surprise to see both Step Above and Farmer's Gamble take a big step forward from their most recent efforts.
After an encouraging chase debut at Exeter this month, BROOMFIELD PRESENT (nap) could be hard to beat on the slower ground here.

Well held behind Housemartin at Clonmel but previous form was solid so can't be ruled out. |

9/1(+10%) | (3) Tipp For Mac 9/1, Attracted support but well-beaten fifth of 10 in handicap at Killarney (20.8f, soft, 5/1) on chase debut 93 days ago. Ran creditably on previous start over hurdles, so no surprise to see him bounce back. Maiden with some solid efforts; pulled up in recent point-to-point so market best guide. |

|F| (10) (14/1 +30%) Padraigs Boy |
14/1(+30%) | (10) Padraigs Boy 14/1, After 16 months off, brought down at the first in maiden hurdle (66/1) at Listowel (20f, soft) 65 days ago. Has work to do as he makes his first start in a handicap. Lightly raced 7yo of limited appeal here on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (66/1 -230%) Letters To Juliet |
66/1(-230%) | (7) Letters To Juliet 66/1, Not in the same form as previous outing when eighth of 12 in maiden hurdle (22/1) at Ballinrobe (17.7f, good to soft) 72 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Unexposed mare entering handicaps, pick of three maiden runs a Sligo fifth; may need this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (10/1 +17%) Robin Elite |
10/1(+17%) | (11) Robin Elite 10/1, In first-time cheekpieces, possibly made effort earlier than ideal when ninth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (16.1f, soft, 12/1) 24 days ago. Could make presence felt with headgear quickly discarded. Penultimate Bellewstown run reads quite well so don't dismiss with cheekpieces ditched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (40/1 -100%) Champagne Saloon |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Champagne Saloon 40/1, Failed to repeat his previous effort when thirteenth of 14 in maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan (2m, good, 14/1) in June. Improvement needed as he goes handicapping after 5 months off. Penultimate maiden run gives him claims but poor subsequent run raises doubts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Clonmel winner HOUSEMARTIN could well defy the handicapper here off a 9lb higher mark. Amateur-ridden on that occasion, he is also minus that additional 7lb claim but Edward O'Grady's six-year-old looks one of the few progressive types in a field of mainly exposed runners. The Peter Fahey-trained Bukhill was well beaten at Cheltenham last time but that was unlikely to have been the gelding's true form. He had looked a nice sort when winning twice earlier in the year so it is much too soon to write him off on the back of one poor run. Tipp For Mac was pulled up in a point-to-point last time out but had previously shown enough to suggest he could win a race of this nature. The Tom Cooper-trained six-year-old should appreciate the drop back to the minimum trip.
THE TRUANT looked to be on a handy mark over hurdles at the end of 2022, running well when fifth at this C&D last November, so after a couple of outings on the Flat this summer he could be set to gain a first success in this sphere. Housemartin arrives on the back of a win last-time-out and could be the main danger, with Dontdooddson also considered.
It could pay to side with the four-year-old DGALWAYGALLIVANTOR who caught the eye at Downpatrick last time and could have more to offer

1st (4) (20/1 -208%) Hispanic Moon |
20/1(-208%) | (4) Hispanic Moon 20/1, Useful hurdler/chaser: who landed minor event hurdle at Pau (18.9f) last December. Not at very best back over fences at that venue on final start for David Cottin but since joined present yard for €80,000 and interesting what the market makes of her with underfoot conditions holding no fears. Grade 3 chase winner in France; could run well on yard debut if ready enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/1 -33%) Saylavee |
10/1(-33%) | (2) Saylavee 10/1, Useful mare. Course winner. 7/1, tailed-off thirteenth of 14 to Shecouldbeanything in listed hurdle at this course (16.4f, good to soft) in April, off the bridle long way out. Likely type to bounce back returning from 7-month break. Needs to bounce back from two poor runs but has a good record fresh, so considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (3/1 +50%) Broomfield Bijou |
3/1(+50%) | (7) Broomfield Bijou 3/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Course winner. Latest win in hurdle here in April. 9/2, second of 4 in novice hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft) 67 days ago. Back up in trip now. Course winner was second in a Listowel novice on comeback and is capable of running well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8/15 +58%) Shecouldbeanything |
8/15(+58%) | (3) Shecouldbeanything 8/15, Smart hurdler. Course winner. 2 wins from 4 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Killarney in August. Creditable third of 17 in handicap hurdle (5/1) at Listowel (16f, soft) 65 days ago. Big player. Three wins at this level, incl' at this track; can go close with yard in great form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (15/2 -50%) Rioga Choice |
15/2(-50%) | (5) Rioga Choice 15/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Running creditably when fell in Grade 1 mares' novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.4f, good to soft) in April, third when coming down heavily last. Further progress not ruled out this campaign. Battling for the places in a Grade 1 when falling at Fairyhouse in April; can run well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (125/1 -346%) An Cailin Ciuin |
125/1(-346%) | (6) An Cailin Ciuin 125/1, Imperial Monarch mare. Dam (h87) maiden hurdler. Placed both starts in points latest (Nov 4) but this rates a tough enough ask on hurdles debut. Decent placed efforts in both point-to-points but she has a lot on her plate on rules bow. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Anna Bunina would be hard to beat if reproducing the form that saw her finish second in a Grade 1 here in April. That said, her subsequent efforts have not been at that level and preference is for SHECOULDBEANYTHING. Gordon Elliott's mare readily won a Listed handicap at Killarney in August and was far from disgraced when third in an even stronger event at Listowel last time. Others to consider are Rioga Choice and Hispanic Moon.
SHECOULDBEANYTHING has built up a solid record over hurdles, producing another useful effort when third in a listed handicap at Listowel in September. With underfoot conditions holding no fears, she holds sound claims on these terms and looks the way to go. The returning Saylavee and Bloomfield Bijou may emerge as the lead threats.
The consistent and classy course winner SHECOULDBEANYTHING(nap) looks the one to beat after fine efforts in Listed handicaps lately.

1st (7) (11/1 +31%) Moriko De Vassy |
11/1(+31%) | (7) Moriko De Vassy 11/1, Bumper winner who was 2-4 over hurdles during 2021/22 campaign. Failed to progress from promising chase debut in 2 subsequent runs over fences last term, though, and made a low-key start for this yard back over hurdles on return. Well treated on Wetherby effort last November; nowhere near that form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/1 -82%) Amrons Sage |
5/1(-82%) | (6) Amrons Sage 5/1, Won sole outing in Irish points and progressive winner over hurdles last season. Type to make a better chaser so much respected. Should take well to chasing; one of two interesting contenders for Nicky Henderson. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 -10%) Kilbeg King |
11/2(-10%) | (1) Kilbeg King 11/2, Point winner who landed only start in bumpers and, following a lengthy absence, made rapid strides over hurdles last term, making it 3 wins from 5 starts in 25-runner Punchestown handicap. Should reach similar heights over fences with his debut/comeback run at Warwick under his belt. Should still have more to offer; interesting with Warwick reappearance under his belt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4/1 +27%) Issuing Authority |
4/1(+27%) | (5) Issuing Authority 4/1, Flemensfirth gelding from a good family. Runner-up in Irish points at second attempt and forged clear to land 5-runner bumper at Uttoxeter. Fairly useful form when placed all 4 starts over hurdles and bred to make a better chaser. May start to progress now he turns his attention to chasing; still of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (10/3 +26%) Hermes Du Gouet |
10/3(+26%) | (8) Hermes Du Gouet 10/3, Point winner who was much improved when making all in 16.7f Exeter novice hurdle in January. Solid effort when third at Plumpton next time but failed to meet expectations on handicap debut at Wincanton when last seen in April. Should make a better chaser and yard remain in fine form. Returns to the scene of his hurdles win; should be suited by rules fences; one to note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (20/1 -233%) Bumpy Johnson |
20/1(-233%) | (3) Bumpy Johnson 20/1, Won pair of 2½m Ffos Las handicap hurdles in a productive 2022/3 campaign. Tackles fences for the first time on his return (fell sole outing in points). Progressive in handicap hurdles; likely player granted clear round (fell in Irish point). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (12/1 +0%) I Shut That D'Or |
12/1(+0%) | (9) I Shut That D'Or 12/1, Fairly useful winner at 21f over hurdles. Shaped as if better for the run in first-time tongue strap after 8 months off when remote third of 4 in handicap chase at Fontwell (19.5f, good) on debut over fences 50 days ago. 1 lb out of handicap. No further progress in two handicaps; others appear to be brighter prospects. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (11/2 +21%) Manorbank |
11/2(+21%) | (4) Manorbank 11/2, Bumper winner on debut. Evidently had his problems since but making up for lost time, much improved to win novice hurdles in the spring. Decent start over fences when third at Ffos Las on handicap bow/return 6 weeks ago and entitled to improve on that. Respectable third in similar event at Ffos Las six weeks ago; open to further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (28/1 -100%) Jerrash |
28/1(-100%) | (2) Jerrash 28/1, Back on track following 11 months off when successful at Plumpton (25f) in January but has failed to build on that, making a discouraging chasing debut at Fontwell when last seen in May. Hurdles winner off this mark; possibilities if back to that form; second chase run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
KILBEG KING has to give plenty of weight away here but he was an impressive winner of a valuable handicap hurdle at Punchestown in April and that form gives him a big chance at this level. The consistent Issuing Authority has to be of interest on his return to action and mark of 122 should be workable for the son of Flemensfirth. Amrons Sage is another with strong form claims and Manorbank should not be underestimated either.
AMRONS SAGE was progressive over hurdles last season and this Irish point winner will surely do even better over fences being from the family of connections' very smart chaser Beware The Bear, so he could be worth chancing on return. Manorbank and Kilbeg King were also progressive over timber and both should come on for their comeback run/chase debut, while Hermes du Gouet is another interesting newcomer to this sphere.
Topweight KILBEG KING is first choice ahead of the Henderson runners Amrons Sage (narrow second choice) and Issuing Authority.

1st (4) (11/10 -33%) The Imposter |
11/10(-33%) | (4) The Imposter 11/10, Most progressive last season, winning 6 times, and he continued on the up on his recent return when bagging 3m handicap hurdle at Ffos Las. Up another 5 lb but he was strong at the finish there so merits serious consideration once more. Won six times last season and was also on target when back in action this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/1 -20%) Brinkley |
6/1(-20%) | (1) Brinkley 6/1, Disappointing on his final 3 runs last term, undergoing wind surgery before pulled up in Newbury handicap hurdle in March. A useful 23f winner at his best but lots more is needed on his reappearance. Very effective on heavy ground and very well handicapped on old form; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (8/1 -100%) Uno Mas |
8/1(-100%) | (5) Uno Mas 8/1, Got on a roll in 2021, winning 5 handicaps (4 hurdle, 1 chase), and he shaped well on his return from 19 months off when fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle (50/1) at Aintree (24.7f, soft) 28 days ago. Handily weighted if building on that. Ran well last month, after long layoff, but would appeal more on good/good to soft ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (9/4 +72%) Only The Bold |
9/4(+72%) | (2) Only The Bold 9/4, Fairly useful hurdles winner for Evan Williams and proved a different proposition over fences in headgear for present connections last term, scoring at Bangor and Hereford. Had a wind op before only eighth on his return at Newbury though so a big step forward is required kept to timber here. Dual chase winner last season; made low-key reappearance over hurdles this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (14/1 -75%) Bushypark |
14/1(-75%) | (3) Bushypark 14/1, Quite useful over hurdles and fences but his good days have been more infrequent in recent seasons. Beat only one on his seasonal return in 3m Aintree handicap hurdles and it's probably best to look elsewhere. Thorough stayer; current mark is workable but he has become very inconsistent. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
There weren't many more progressive hurdlers in training last season than THE IMPOSTER, who won six of his last seven races and was an admirable second in the other. He picked up where he left off at Ffos Las a couple of weeks ago to take his game to a new level and must be stuck with, even though he has been bumped up another 5lb. Uno Mas made a decent enough return from the sidelines when fourth at Aintree but Bushypark didn't, finishing last of the finishers in a Pertemps qualifier. Better is expected, though.
THE IMPOSTER made it seven successes from his last eight outings when returning in great style at Ffos Las and is impossible to oppose despite having a career-high mark to overcome. Uno Mas made a promising return from a long absence when fourth at Aintree and appeals as the one to chase home Nigel Hawke's improver.
It's difficult to oppose winning machine THE IMPOSTER, who continued his relentless progress with a heavy-ground success this month.

Switches from chase to hurdles. Merits consideration. Progressive chaser of late greatly respected back hurdling off 21lb lower mark. |

3rd (9) (2/1 +50%) Positive Thinker |
2/1(+50%) | (9) Positive Thinker 2/1, 2 wins from 4 runs this season. Career best when winning 13-runner handicap hurdle at Limerick (24f, heavy, 6/5) 35 days ago, always holding on. Improving all the time recently. Progressing nicely and 8lb rise for Limerick win looks fair; definite contender. |

11/4(+8%) | (11) Tomjackwilliam 11/4, Promising individual. Very good second of 17 in handicap hurdle at this C&D (soft, 8/1) 21 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Just denied on recent comeback over C&D; 6lb rise plenty fair and leading player. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CINSA, who took full advantage of the easier task when scoring at Wexford last time, can make it back-to-back wins. The Willie Mullins-trained four-year-old was set some stiff tasks last season but wasn't disgraced in Grade 1 company. With another summer on her back, the former French-trained filly has the potential to develop into a nice prospect this term. It would be no surprise to see her end up back in black type races in a few months. Tomjackwilliam has to enter calculations having just lost out at this track last time. The Eoin McCarthy-trained gelding was well clear of the remainder and is a winner in waiting. Positive Thinker bids for the hat-trick having won over both fences and hurdles recently. While a longer trip may be desirable, he has the pace to cope with this drop back to 2m4f.
TOMJACKWILLIAM improved further after 10 months off when losing out only narrowly to a similarly progressive sort with a fitness edge over C&D 3 weeks ago and can one better with further progress likely. Positive Thinker is also on the upgrade and looks the obvious threat as he bids for the hat-trick, with Union Park another to consider.
Plenty with chances with slight preference for TOMJACKWILLIAM, who showed a good attitude when just denied over C&D three weeks ago

This demands more but he can't be discounted. 2-4 over fences, handicap winner last time, more needed judged on previous Grade 3 form. |

5/1(-82%) | (4) Uncle Phil 5/1, Useful chaser who gained his second win this season in 5-runner novice chase at Listowel (17f, good to soft, 5/1) 70 days ago, cruising clear. Holds solid claims. Both chase wins have been obtained on good ground, very soft going could be a negative. |

Stiff task wehn remote fourth of 7 to Irish Point in Jezki Hurdle at Down Royal (16.9f, soft, 66/1) 16 days ago. Makes chase debut with plenty on his plate. Remote fourth in a recent Grade 3 hurdle, set another stiff task now on her chasing debut. |

IMAGINE wasn't that far off the better novice hurdlers last term and looked made for fences when justifying favouritism in a hot beginners chase at Fairyhouse. Even though he steps up in class, he may not actually meet stronger opposition and can continue his education while making it two from two. Uncle Phil won as he liked at Kilbeggan and Listowel, but a couple of ordinary Wexford displays suggest he may not be entirely reliable. Lucid Dreams, successful in a Gowran handicap off 133 recently, is therefore put forward as the biggest danger.
Gordon Elliott has bagged two of the last three runnings of this Grade 2 chase with smart sorts and looks to have another likely candidate in IMAGINE who made a striking impression when going in on his chasing debut at Fairyhouse earlier in the month. Willie Mullins' Uncle Phil should ensure that the selection doesn't have things all his own way though, with Lucid Dreams appealing as the pick of the rest.
This looks like a good opportunity for IMAGINE who jumped well and beat a decent field on his chasing debut at Fairyhouse

Failed to progress from that effort next time, but after a further 6 months off he ran well when third in novice here (21.6f) 16 days ago. More needed now handicapping. Below expectations when filling the same position at Newton Abbot next time, but back to more like his debut form when second again at this C&D last month. Remains with potential on his handicap bow. Clear second in C&D maiden last time, taking form figures to 222; could well go one better. |

However, from a sliding mark he got back on track when making the frame in handicap at Haydock (18.8f) in March. Task is now to pick up where he left off on his return. Seems past his best and doesn't look solid on 2022/2023 form (Flat/hurdles). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Tarahumara merits the utmost respect in his bid for a hat-trick but an 8lb rise for his latest win and a step up in class could leave him vulnerable. With that in mind, preference is for the unexposed KING OF THE LAKE, who hit the crossbar in a novice event over C&D last month. A mark of 111 should be within his compass with further progression likely. Cases can be made for all of the remainder but King Alexander is the pick of them.
TARAHUMARA has made a bright start to his hurdling career, showing much improved form when making all in a big-field Warwick handicap last time, so he is taken to add to his tally with further progress to come. King Alexander could also still have more to offer for his leading yard and is respected, with Mot A Mot the pick of the remainder.
Interesting handicap debutants KING OF THE LAKE and Astronomic View head the shortlist, ahead of Tarahumara.

1st (3) (5/2 +17%) Roger Rarebit |
5/2(+17%) | (3) Roger Rarebit 5/2, Improved since visored, winning easily at Ffos Las in January and second at Southwell the following month. Let down by jumping final start but remains of interest now going chasing on return. In good form over hurdles last winter; contender if fully tuned up for this chasing debut. |

2nd (6) (33/1 +18%) Nine Nine Nine |
33/1(+18%) | (6) Nine Nine Nine 33/1, Runner-up in Fakenham maiden on hurdling debut back in 2021/22 but failed to build on that effort next 3 starts, leaving Nigel Twiston-Davies after his second run. Fell heavily on chase bow at Warwick after 19 months off 18 days ago. Fell when 40-1 for recent seasonal/chase debut; others have much stronger claims. |

3rd (1) (2/1 +0%) Doyouknowwhatimean |
2/1(+0%) | (1) Doyouknowwhatimean 2/1, Just modest form over hurdles but no surprise that he made a decent start over fences given his size when fourth at Chepstow on return and entitled to improve on that. Lacked the pace to challenge but still made an encouraging chase debut this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (25/1 +75%) Old Page |
25/1(+75%) | (8) Old Page 25/1, Little form under Rules. 15 lb out of handicap. Has struggled to get competitive off lowly marks this year and is now 0-19 under rules. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 +36%) Bignorm |
16/1(+36%) | (7) Bignorm 16/1, Losing run is mounting up and ran poorly at Uttoxeter last time. Easy to oppose from out of the handicap. Not seen since a poor run here in August and competes from 7lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (10/3 -11%) Kankin |
10/3(-11%) | (4) Kankin 10/3, Showed plenty of ability both starts in bumpers and looked on a fair opening mark when third on handicap hurdle debut at Warwick (19f) in May. Made a winning chase debut off the same mark at Huntingdon on return and big shout up 3 lb. Made a pleasing start to chasing career last month and should have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (11/1 +21%) Iron Horse |
11/1(+21%) | (5) Iron Horse 11/1, Lightly raced for his age but hasn't convinced as a chaser and easy enough to oppose returning from another lay-off. Given a good chance by the handicapper but was tailed off over C&D in June on latest start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (9/1 -170%) Haveanothergoflo |
9/1(-170%) | (2) Haveanothergoflo 9/1, Successful sole start in Irish points and fair form on 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles last season, third at Carlisle final start. Interesting on the back of a wind op now switched to handicaps on chase bow/return. Point winner; placed over hurdles in Feb/March; chase/handicap debut today; interesting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KANKIN was sent off favourite on his chasing debut at Huntingdon and didn't disappoint, coming home a length and a quarter clear of the second. There was a subsequent winner back in fourth, so the form is solid, and Alex Hales' seven-year-old can go in again. Roger Rarebit held his form really well last season so didn't deserve to sign off with an Exeter mishap. He could progress again now sent over fences, while Haveanothergoflo is another to tackle the bigger obstacles for the first time. This winning pointer has had wind surgery ahead of his handicap bow.
DOYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN has the size to make a better chaser and duly made an encouraging start in this sphere when fourth at Chepstow on his return. He should come on for that and shades the vote over Kankin, who bettered his modest hurdling form right away when scoring at Huntingdon. Chasing-newcomers Haveanothergoflo and Roger Rarebit also need considering.
The suggestion is DOYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN, who shaped quite well when fourth in a race fought out by two well-handicapped rivals this month.

4/7(+43%) | (2) Halka Du Tabert 4/7, Useful winner at 16f over hurdles. Below form tailed-off seventh of 14 to Ashroe Diamond in Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Novices' Hurdle Championship Final at Fairyhouse (20.4f, good to soft, 8/1). In the right hands to bounce back returned to fences. Quite smart novice hurdler last term and bred to be a chaser; respected. |

2nd (1) (33/1 +0%) Feddans |
33/1(+0%) | (1) Feddans 33/1, Fairly useful winner at 19f over hurdles. Fourth of 7 in novice chase at Gowran (16f, heavy, 40/1) 15 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Stiff tasks in two outings in mares' chases when well held; might be one for handicaps. |

5th (6) (9/2 -64%) Night And Day |
9/2(-64%) | (6) Night And Day 9/2, Fairly useful winner at 17f over hurdles. 11/2, pulled up in listed mares event at Killarney (17f, good to soft) won by Shecouldbeanything, tailed off when pulled up early in straight having struck into herself. HALKA DU TABERT is a chase debutant who finished third in the mares' novice at Cheltenham last March and has winning point-to-point form. She performed to a consistently high level last season so is forgiven her Fairyhouse disappointment in April and will be ready for her fences debut. Night And Day's form last season was very in-and-out. She beat ordinary horses impressively at Clonmel last January but made jumping errors subsequently. She has the size to make a much better chaser but has plenty to prove against the smart selection. Henning fell at the first at Gowran but had previously run well at Thurles, although should struggle to win. Sainte Dona was fourth in that Thurles race but ran well at Fairyhouse subsequently, while Jumpin Jet needs to find improvement on her chase debut to get involved.
HALKA DU TABERT and Night And Day both suffered heavy defeats when last seen over hurdles but they represent top stables and are fancied to bounce back switched to the larger obstacles. Marginal preference is for the Gordon Elliott inmate.
Top yards represented here with chasing debutantes HALKA DU TABERT (nap) and Night And Day, the Elliott runner preferred

1st (4) (9/1 -80%) Fastorslow |
9/1(-80%) | (4) Fastorslow 9/1, Quickly made up into a top-class chaser last term and he signed off with a 20/1 win in Punchestown Gold Cup here (24.1f, good to soft) in April. holding off a below-par Galopin Des Champs by 2¼ lengths. More is probably needed if he's to beat the Gold Cup winner once more. Major giant-killing act when beating Galopin Des Champs here in April, repeat is unlikely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (6/1 +40%) Appreciate It |
6/1(+40%) | (1) Appreciate It 6/1, High-class hurdler (landed 2021 Supreme) and solid start over fences when landing maiden/novice events around the turn of the year. Ran to a similar level in hitting the frame in four Grade 1's since, second in Champion Novices' Chase at this course (24.3f) 7 months ago. No forlorn hope. Failed to score in four Grade 1 attempts last term, lowest-rated of five Mullins runners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (1/2 -14%) Galopin Des Champs |
1/2(-14%) | (5) Galopin Des Champs 1/2, Showed himself to be top of the chasing tree when winning 13-runner Cheltenham Gold Cup at Cheltenham in March by 7 lengths from Bravemansgame. Not at his best when beaten 2¼ lengths by Fastorslow in Punchestown Gold Cup here following month but expected to bounce back in style on his return. Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, met unexpected reverse here at festival, should make amends. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (6/1 +25%) Blue Lord |
6/1(+25%) | (3) Blue Lord 6/1, Made up into a top-class chaser last season, adding another Grade 1 victory to his tally at Leopardstown over Christmas. Good third of 5 to stablemate Energumene in William Hill Champion Chase here final start. Considered. Fine effort to win 2m1f Grade 1 at Leopardstown last Christmas, not at best subsequently. |

5th (2) (18/1 -13%) Asterion Forlonge |
18/1(-13%) | (2) Asterion Forlonge 18/1, High-class chaser. Below-par tenth of 15 to Theleme in Grande Course de Haies d'Auteuil at Auteuil (25.4f, soft) in May but this C&D winner can bounce back on his return. Campaigned exclusively over hurdles last term, not the most dependable sort over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (28/1 -12%) Stattler |
28/1(-12%) | (6) Stattler 28/1, High-class chaser. Ran a rare poor race when pulled up in Cheltenham Gold Cup at Cheltenham in March. Sort to bounce back but this trip is short of his optimum. Tongue strap on 1st time. No threat to Galopin Des Champs in the Irish Gold Cup, struggled from early at Cheltenham. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Gold Cup hero GALOPIN DES CHAMPS sets off on the path back to Cheltenham with him returning to the scene of his impressive display in this contest 12 months ago. The seven-year-old then passed his two major subsequent tests at Leopardstown and Cheltenham before not being at his best when only second to the reopposing Fastorslow here in April. Freshened up since, Willie Mullins' star performer is expected to turn the tables, with the drop back in trip unlikely to cause any issues. Fastorslow gained due compensation for a neck defeat in the Ultima to Grand National winner Corach Rambler with a career-best effort in the Punchestown Gold Cup. He remains open to improvement, but may have to play second fiddle on this occasion. Blue Lord and Asterion Forlonge appeal most of the remainder.
GALOPIN DES CHAMPS took this event in great style 12 months ago en route to Cheltenham Gold Cup glory and is confidently expected to repeat the feat and put behind him his Punchestown Gold Cup blip when overturned by Fastorslow. Martin Brassil's upwardly-mobile chaser still rates the chief threat to Willie Mullins' top-notcher though, ahead of Blue Lord and Appreciate It.
Gold Cup winner GALOPIN DES CHAMPS can avenge the defeat inflicted by Fastorslow at the festival

Up 6 lb but still weighted to go close. Off the mark in C&D contest this month on handicap debut; respected up 6lb. |

3/1(-9%) | (6) Ito Ditto 3/1, Returned from 7 months off much improved with a maiden win in 12-runner handicap hurdle (8/1) at Chepstow (16f, soft) 26 days ago. Merits consideration despite a 8 lb rise. Made all for comfortable win at Chepstow on seasonal debut; shortlisted. |

66/1(+0%) | (11) Tribesmans Glory 66/1, Fair winning chaser for Tom George in 2020. Lightly raced since and below par over hurdles at Newton Abbot for new yard when last seen out 13 months ago. Hard to fancy. Unconvincing record over hurdles and lacks recent match practice. |

22/1(-57%) | (1) Interne De Sivola 22/1, Dual juvenile hurdle winner for Nick Williams during 2021/22 campaign. Didn't take to fences last season and pulled up at Warwick back hurdling on his return. 25/1(+50%) | (13) Flamenco De Kerser 25/1, Successful once from 5 starts between the flags but he's winless under Rules and looks set for another struggle from 4 lb out of the handicap. Holds weak claims on recent form. |

9th (8) (7/1 -27%) Gerard Mentor |
7/1(-27%) | (8) Gerard Mentor 7/1, C&D winner who arrives in good nick, sixth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (16f, heavy) 19 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Has form figures of 2412 at Exeter; possibilities back here. |

9/1(-100%) | (2) Orchard Grove 9/1, Four-time winner in 2021 but off 16 months since posting a good third in handicap hurdle at Bangor (19.6f). Handily weighted but the market can prove a good guide. Absent since running well at Bangor 16 months ago; market can guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 +14%) Max's Champ |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Max's Champ 12/1, Blinkered/tongue strap on for 1st time when good second in novice hurdle at Hereford (19.7f) in April. Well below par on handicap debut at Warwick 19 days ago but should strip fitter now. May improve with Warwick reappearance under his belt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (28/1 -40%) Stopherandgo |
28/1(-40%) | (3) Stopherandgo 28/1, Wincanton novice hurdle winner before posting a very good second in 2m novice at Ludlow. Only sixth on handicap debut at Stratford final start for Claire Harris and others look better treated at these weights. Bit to prove in this field on debut for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ITO DITTO benefited from a switch to front-running tactics when gaining a first career success at Chepstow and an 8lb rise is unlikely to stop him from progressing again. Asian Spice won here earlier in the month and has to enter the reckoning, especially with the booking of Harry Cobden, while others to consider include Gerard Mentor and Heure De Gloire.
ASIAN SPICE took a big step forward on her handicap bow when getting off the mark over C&D and a 6 lb rise in the weights doesn't look sufficient to prevent Jimmy Frost's mare from following up. C&D scorer Gerard Mentor comes here in good nick and is next on the list ahead of recent Chepstow victor Ito Ditto. Orchard Grove is worth a market check after a long absence too.
Recent C&D winner ASIAN SPICE is taken to follow up. Second choice is Gerard Mentor, ahead of Ito Ditto.

1st (3) (3/1 -20%) Sound And Fury |
3/1(-20%) | (3) Sound And Fury 3/1, Irish point winner who made a winning start over hurdles at Fontwell in March. Runner-up both outings later in the spring and better than being pulled up would suggest in handicap at Aintree (24.7f) last month, third 3 out before dropping away. Can step forward from his return. 6-1, pulled up at Aintree (3m; dropped away after three out) on handicap/seasonal debut. |

2nd (2) (15/2 -150%) Go Steady |
15/2(-150%) | (2) Go Steady 15/2, Dual winner in handicap chases last season, but after 7 months off he probably needed the run when down the field at Wincanton 15 days ago. Has a lower mark back over hurdles with the cheekpieces reapplied, so he could make his presence felt. Headgear (off last time) returns; first hurdles run for a year; well-in on chase form. |

3rd (7) (4/1 -20%) Ingennio |
4/1(-20%) | (7) Ingennio 4/1, Runner-up on first 2 starts in handicaps earlier this year but wasn't able find any further progress on his next 2 outings. However, after 6 months off and with cheekpieces fitted, shaped better than the result when fourth at Hexham 16 days ago. Looks to be on a workable mark. Ten-race maiden who was runner-up in 2m/2m3f handicaps last term; 7lb claimer is called up. |

4th (4) (5/1 +50%) Kitesurfer |

However, little impact on sole outing for Harry Whittington at Kempton in April and, after another 6 months off, finished down the field on handicap/stable debut last time. Still remains early days, though. Won his only French hurdle race (soft); heavy defeats on both his starts in Britain. |

5th (5) (3/1 +63%) Always Busy |
3/1(+63%) | (5) Always Busy 3/1, Bred to stay well and caused a 66/1 surprise when making his second hurdles start a winning one at Warwick (2m) a year ago. Hasn't been able to repeat that effort since, but looked ready for more of a test of stamina when seventh back at Warwick last time. Could yet do better. 66-1 won novice at Warwick (2m, soft) last November; struggled in handicaps last 3 starts. |

6th (1) (80/1 -700%) Santana Plessis |
80/1(-700%) | (1) Santana Plessis 80/1, Fairly useful hurdles winner and matched that level over fences when runner-up in Roscommon maiden in August 2021. However, off over 2 years following his next start (left Mrs Denise Foster) when pulled up after the third back hurdling last month. This run should reveal more. Ex-Irish; soon pulled up in a handicap hurdle last month, his first run since August 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (15/2 -7%) Rossbeigh Strand |
15/2(-7%) | (6) Rossbeigh Strand 15/2, Made the frame both starts in novice hurdles and similar form when third in handicap at Chepstow (19.4f) in November last year. In tongue strap, failed to see his race out at the same C&D next time, but could get back on track having had a wind op ahead of his return. Remote when tongue tied in January when last seen; had wind surgery soon afterwards. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A potential combination of needing the run and finding 3m too far on his return could be a valid excuse for SOUND AND FURY pulling up at Aintree. He had shown promise in novice/maiden company in the spring, winning at Fontwell in March, and it would be no surprise if the son of Milan bounced back. Kitesurfer and Go Steady can fight it out for the minor honours.
In first-time cheekpieces, INGENNIO shaped better than the result when fourth at Hexham on his return, faring best of those ridden close up, so he could be ready to get off the mark this time around. Sound And Fury is entitled to come on for his reappearance run and is feared most, ahead of Go Steady.
While some of the others might race their game after recent runs, the veteran chaser GO STEADY may well represent the most solid option.

10th (10) (25/1 -213%) The Big Galloper |
25/1(-213%) | (10) The Big Galloper 25/1, 80/1, below form fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (24f, heavy) 17 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Beaten a long way over hurdles on return after a long absence last time; needs much more. |

|PU| (8) (14/1 -40%) Routine Excellence |
14/1(-40%) | (8) Routine Excellence 14/1, 11/2, sixth of 7 in handicap chase at Galway (22.5f, heavy) 28 days ago. Dual chase winner was disappointing on last two starts and needs to bring his best. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EN BETON was smart in 2020/21 and might be ready despite a worrying 665-day layoff. His 21-length win in a Punchestown beginners chase reads well (despite the favourite falling) and while he has had a setback, was withdrawn due to unsuitable going at Killarney last May. He has since had a summer's break, is retained by leading owners and might better his 141 rating. Dual winner Battle Of Mirbat is in form but doesn't appear ahead of the handicapper, while Dundaniel has recent form in lesser chases and although 3lb out of the handicap, his rider claims 5lb. Riaan beat Percy Warner at Wexford in August, but disappointed at Listowel in September and returns from a mini-break. Three-time course winner Lucky Max is rated 7lb lower in this sphere than over hurdles and debuts in handicap chases. Falco Blitz finished ahead of Routine Excellence in a recent Galway run.
EN BETON has been off the track since well held in a Grade 3 at Naas almost 2 years ago but he made a sparking chase debut the time before so is worth another chance for his top yard. Dundaniel and Riaan are feared most.
Though well-held by Riann in a Wexford novice when last seen, PERCY WARNER might be able to turn that form around.

11th (5) (28/1 +15%) Freedom To Dream |
28/1(+15%) | (5) Freedom To Dream 28/1, Course winner. Pulled up in novice chase (17/2) at Listowel (22f, soft) 67 days ago, tailed off when pulled up 4 out. Switches from chase to hurdles. Useful staying novice hurdler two seasons ago, seems to have lost his way, hard to fancy. |

12th (9) (50/1 -257%) Doctor Brown Bear |
50/1(-257%) | (9) Doctor Brown Bear 50/1, 4/6, didn't need to be at best when winning 14-runner maiden hurdle at Tramore (16f, heavy) 100 days ago, readily. First run for yard after leaving Martin Brassil. More needed back in a handicap. Odds-on winner of a 2m Tramore maiden, unknown quantity at this trip, has changed stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
STUZZIKINI handled testing conditions well when scoring by 31 lengths at Clonmel and a 9lb rise appears to be more than fair for Gordon Elliott's gelding. Gabbys Cross (second) and Shadow Rider (third) both ran with a huge amount of credit in a Galway handicap that has already worked out due to the winner going on to claim a good prize at Cheltenham last week. The pair are expected to be in the mix once again, with Jody Ted and Cesarewitch hero The Shunter next best.
Although Rachael Blackmore is seemingly happy to look elsewhere GABBYS CROSS appears to hold solid claims with his latest Galway form having been boosted by the winner going in again since. Last month's Cesarewitch winner The Shunter heads the many dangers along with Jody Ted, a chase winner from a higher mark last month, and Shadow Rider.
A tentative vote goes to bottom weight JODY TED who was a stylish handicap chase winner at Limerick last month

2nd (5) (11/4 +58%) Atlanta Brave |
11/4(+58%) | (5) Atlanta Brave 11/4, Irish point winner who was 2-4 over hurdles last season and despite being well supported, he shaped as if needing the run when fifth of 9 on return/handicap chase debut at Cheltenham (19.7f) in October. Remains the type to do better in this sphere (successful sole start in points). Did not live up to market billing in his two handicaps, latest over fences; early days. |

9/1(-64%) | (6) Mumbo Jumbo 9/1, Yet to win a race of any description but ended last term with a good second in novice handicap company at Taunton (23f, heavy) in March. Let down by jumping when falling on return at Newbury (23.4f) 17 days ago though and others make more appeal on balance. 2nd over about 2m7f in two of his five attempts over fences; unseated on reappearance. |

4th (4) (7/1 +30%) Run To Milan |
7/1(+30%) | (4) Run To Milan 7/1, All 3 career victories have come at this venue, the latest over C&D in February of last year. Winless last term but confirmed he retains plenty of ability back from 7 months off when fourth in a C&D handicap 16 days ago. Assessor has relinquished a little more. 11yo who's edging down the weights and prominent in calculations; all three wins here. |

|PU| (7) (7/1 +50%) Sheldon |
7/1(+50%) | (7) Sheldon 7/1, Bagged his second chase win here (19.2f) on New Year's Day and plenty of good efforts in defeat thereafter, looking likely winner when falling last at Stratford (22.5f) in May. Never figured on hurdles return in October and he does need to brush up his jumping returned to larger obstacles. Led when last-fence faller at Stratford (2m6f) in May; beaten 40l over hurdles last month. |

|PU| (3) (12/1 -167%) Investment Manager |
12/1(-167%) | (3) Investment Manager 12/1, Enjoyed a productive summer over fences at Newton Abbot, winning twice at up to 25.7f. Filled runners-up spot all 3 starts since and no surprise to see him give another good account for all this rates tougher than of late. Solid sequence at Newton Abbot; also won here in April and should be on the premises. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (18/1 -200%) Bridge North |
18/1(-200%) | (2) Bridge North 18/1, Very useful hurdler who made a winning start over fences in 3-runner handicap chase at Newbury (23.4f, soft) in March. Fell at Perth a month later though and made mistakes early and never figured when pulled up on return at Huntingdon (23.6f) 3 weeks ago. Won on chase debut but his jumping left something to be desired on both starts since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
RUN TO MILAN tends to save his best for this track, with all three career victories coming here, and the 11-year-old is entitled to build on his return when fourth over C&D earlier in the month. Investment Manager has been in consistent form throughout the last few months and the seven-year-old commands plenty of respect. Atlanta Brave was outpaced on his chasing bow at Cheltenham and is expected to appreciate a step up in trip.
ENJOY YOUR LIFE went with plenty of zest and highlighted he's ready to strike when runner-up back from 6 months off at Wincanton (20.2f) 2 weeks ago and, back up in trip, he can prove himself on a handy mark. Atlanta Brave remains the type to do better in this sphere and is expected to be sharper for his Cheltenham return effort. Run to Milan and Investment Manager complete the shortlist.
Enjoy Your Life runs for in-form Venetia Williams but RUN TO MILAN also looks set to go well and he has nothing to prove over C&D.

Likely to be on the premises with a repeat of that form. 17-race maiden but close third of 19 at Carlisle (2m4f, soft) one month ago; back up 3lb. |

4th (3) (6/1 -50%) Poetria |
6/1(-50%) | (3) Poetria 6/1, Modest form at best over hurdles. Offered little in her 3 handicaps last season but made more of an impact when third of 14 on her 21f Sedgefield reappearance 17 days ago. The task now is to build on that. 0-10; seven months off when back-to-form third of 14 at Sedgefield (2m5f, soft) latest. |

7th (8) (11/1 +56%) Rainbow Jet |
11/1(+56%) | (8) Rainbow Jet 11/1, Dual Flat winner but has yet to threaten over hurdles, finishing down the field in a 21f Doncaster handicap 9 days ago. Unconvincing hurdles form (nine attempts); 9lb lower than on handicap hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (33/1 -340%) Brasingaman Bella |
33/1(-340%) | (7) Brasingaman Bella 33/1, Hinted at ability in bumpers but has shown little all 4 starts over hurdles. More chance now handicapping but still hard to fancy. Heavy defeats on last three outings; making her handicap debut needs to work the oracle. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LIBOR LAD went up 4lb for his runner-up effort at Stratford at the beginning of the month and this appears to be a fine opportunity for David Dennis' gelding to get off the mark. Bushmill Boy has been competitive in similar events and could have more to offer following his comeback third at Carlisle. Poetria and Lunar Glow are both capable of a decent showing.
LIBOR LAD arrives on the back of a pair of good runner-up efforts this autumn and can go one better with Brian Hughes, who does well for the yard, taking over in the saddle now. Lunar Glow made a solid start to her handicap career at Hexham recently and is second choice ahead of Bushmill Boy.
The best option among an unconvincing bunch may be LIBOR LAD who found just one too good for him on his last two outings.

HARTUR D'ARC is a bumper and hurdle winner who showed improvement on chase debut last month. Rated 113 over hurdles and thus suited by race conditions, he received 7lb from a 134-rated winner at Galway, with the third being rated 126 and work-in-progress Spillane's Tower finishing fourth. Macdermott, rated 116 over hurdles, won at Tramore in April and while he has the size to be a better chaser, has enough on his plate against more experienced rivals. Japers Jack ran well on chase debut at Galway (comprehensively beating Meetingofthewaters) and has place claims. Tempo Chapter Two is experienced and is rated 117 but was well enough held at Wexford, while Wellington Hill, rated 116, ran well in a recent handicap. Ideal Du Tabert was rated 114 over hurdles but is a maiden who debuts over fences, while Priory Park is a 10-race maiden over fences. Silver King was a disappointing beaten favourite on chase debut at Downpatrick last month, while Carrig Rock ran well enough on his fences debut at Fairyhouse.
HARTUR D'ARC surpassed the pick of his hurdles form when runner-up on chase debut at Galway a month ago and on that evidence, he rates the percentage call. Macdermott was going the righrt way over timber when last seen so has to rate a big danger on return, with Japers Jack also of interest.
If HARTUR D'ARC can repeat his close second on chasing debut at Galway then he will take the beating.

The Passing Wife posted a solid fourth on his racecourse debut over hurdles at Cork earlier this month and that experience should stand Gavin Cromwell's gelding in good stead on his bumper bow. However, there are two interesting recruits to this sphere in fellow pointer Prends Garde A Toi, who isn't taken lightly, and SOIR DE GARDE. The latter, a half-brother to five-time Grade 1 winner State Man, ticks plenty of the right boxes and he may have too much class for these rivals.
State Man's half-brother SOIR DE GARDE gets the nod to make a winning start to his career, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Gordon Elliott point recruit Prends Garde A Toi and recent Cork hurdle fourth The Passing Wife are the obvious threats.
Newcomer SOIR DE GARDE, a half-brother to State Man, may have the measure of point-to-point runner-up Prends Garde A Toi

1st (1) (6/4 +40%) Danton |
6/4(+40%) | (1) Danton 6/4, Promising type who made an encouraging start to his handicap career when second of 16 on his 17f course reappearance. Step up in trip promise to suit. Leading claims with further improvement on the cards. Finished nicely for close second over 2m here on reappearance; could well go one better. |

2nd (8) (11/1 +67%) Call Me Arthur |
11/1(+67%) | (8) Call Me Arthur 11/1, Hasn't shown a great deal in 5 starts around 2m, including 2 handicaps this season 6 months apart. The longer trip this afternoon needs to spark improvement. New trip is a possible source of improvement; Harry Cobden booked; not without hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (8/1 -45%) Malago Rose |
8/1(-45%) | (9) Malago Rose 8/1, Has shown a bit of promise in her 4 hurdles, including third on 2½m Worcester handicap debut in September. Has the potential for better as her stamina is drawn out. Six-race maiden; form has been heading in the right direction; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (18/1 +28%) Ginderella |
18/1(+28%) | (11) Ginderella 18/1, Poor form but showed he can be competitive from his basement mark when third on 19.5f Chepstow handicap debut in April. Might have needed the run when well-held fifth on Uttoxeter reappearance 8 days ago. Modest fifth on heavy going last weekend; return to forecast better ground may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 +25%) Joe Cotton |
12/1(+25%) | (6) Joe Cotton 12/1, Dual point winner. Has hinted at ability in his qualifying runs (may have needed the run last time after a 5-month break) and could come into his own now handicapping. May be one for chasing in due course but is a possible improver on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (16/1 +0%) Hellfire Princess |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Hellfire Princess 16/1, Bumper winner on debut in January 2022 and performed well on a couple of occasions over hurdles, most notably when third over 3m at Chepstow (good to soft) in April. However, disappointed at Stratford the following month and needs to raise her game now equipped with cheekpieces on her return. May bounce back if she takes well to first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (14/1 -115%) Lock Out |
14/1(-115%) | (4) Lock Out 14/1, Point winner who also won bumper/novice hurdle on his first 2 starts under Rules. Hasn't kicked on from that but may appreciate the return to hurdles after failing to take to fences in recent weeks and he's now a good deal lower than when third in a couple of handicap hurdles last winter. Below best over fences this term; could revive off a reduced mark back over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) (66/1 +0%) Miss Harriett |
66/1(+0%) | (15) Miss Harriett 66/1, Runner-up twice in course handicap hurdles in 2021/22 but pulled up on recent return from a 19-month absence. Can only be watched after that. Longstanding maiden; achieved nothing on return from long layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (10) (20/1 +0%) Arthalot |
20/1(+0%) | (10) Arthalot 20/1, Fair on the Flat and bettered previous efforts in this sphere when fifth in a 12-runner C&D handicap in April. Folded tamely back hurdling here (2m) 16 days ago, though. Back up in trip. Beaten long way over 2m here last time; ran respectably over C&D in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (9/1 -50%) Dylan's Double |
9/1(-50%) | (3) Dylan's Double 9/1, Shaped well on course hurdle debut in January. Failed to build on that since but his reappearance/handicap debut effort at Plumpton (20.5f) 3 weeks ago was respectable and he shapes as if he'll benefit from the stiffer test of stamina he encounters now. Has a solid piece of Exeter form; interesting back here on this second handicap attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (13/2 -95%) Portentoso |
13/2(-95%) | (12) Portentoso 13/2, Struggled in just 2 outings last season but ran a lot better when 2 lengths second of 17 on his 19.5f Chepstow reappearance 18 days ago. Claims if showing up here in similar form. 0-10 in Britain but showed positive signs (clear second) at Chepstow on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (16/1 -33%) Bala Brook |
16/1(-33%) | (5) Bala Brook 16/1, Runner-up in 21.5f Newton Abbot maiden/novice events on his first 2 outings over hurdles. Bit disappointing when only seventh of 8 on his handicap debut at the same venue in July but he returns from a break with his yard going well. Similar type to stablemate Dylan's Double, being possibly still open to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (18/1 +28%) No Worries |
18/1(+28%) | (13) No Worries 18/1, Won 3 times over hurdles in 2021/22 season and struck on Ludlow chase debut last November. Let down by his jumping/attitude over fences then, though, and has fared no better back hurdling the last twice. Couple of poor efforts since returned to hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (100/1 -300%) Inchagoill Lady |
100/1(-300%) | (2) Inchagoill Lady 100/1, Placed in Irish points in 2020 and ran well when runner-up on second start over hurdles at Hereford in January. However, subsequent efforts have represented steps very much in the wrong direction. Returns under the care of a new trainer. Doesn't look solid on form; market can guide on debut for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (150/1 -355%) Henzo Des Boullats |
150/1(-355%) | (14) Henzo Des Boullats 150/1, Well held in varied events over hurdles so far and looks set for another struggle. Holds weak form claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DANTON stepped forward on his handicap bow when runner-up here over an extended 2m earlier in the month and the manner in which the six-year-old finished his race off suggested going up in trip would bring about plenty of improvement. Portentoso arrives following his best run to date since moving over here from France when second at Chepstow, while Malago Rose and Dylan's Double appeal most of the remainder.
The step up in trip should suit DANTON and he's taken to confirm the promise of his course handicap debut second earlier in the month. Lock Out hasn't taken to fences this autumn but is well treated if a return to hurdles sparks a revival so he's second choice. Malago Rose and Portentoso also make the shortlist.
Topweight DANTON (nap) is taken to build on his promising reappearance effort and go one better. Dylan's Double is second choice.
Ths is the racecard key.
