6/4(+63%)
(1) Obsidian Knight 6/4, C&D winner. 11/4, fourth of 7 in handicap at Southwell (12.1f) 11 days ago, never nearer. Mark has eased a little more ahead of this and he's one to consider.
Won't mind the drop in trip into a bigger field off a career-low mark; on the shortlist.

66/1(-500%)
(8) Crafter 66/1, 28/1, shaped better than the bare result on the back of 7 months off when fifth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 19 days ago, not knocked about. Entitled to be sharper now.
Little room for manoeuvre off this mark under an inexperienced partner; each-way shout.

Francesi

7
7/1(+30%)
(4) Francesi 7/1, Course winner. One win from 31 Flat runs. Twenty-seven runs since last win in 2022. 14/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f) 20 days ago, left poorly placed. Better showing anticipated returned to this venue for all his strike rate tempers enthusiasm.
Goes well here; will need some luck if dropped in as usual under an inexperienced partner.

(3) Achillea 7/1, Course winner. Latest win at Chelmsford in October. 11/4, sixth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (11.1f) 13 days ago, no extra last ½f. Return to this shorter trip rates a likely plus on that evidence.

(11) Moon Over The Sea 50/1, Proved consistent earlier this year, adding to his tally at Wolverhampton (8.6f) in March. Creditable third of 10 in handicap at Chepstow (10f) when last seen in June and no surprise to see a good showing.
Fine on Polytrack but might just need this back from five months out.

(5) Star Pupil 8/1, Showed improved form when opening his account on qualifying run at Wolverhampton (6f) in April. Seen only twice since, possibly in need of the run after 5 months off when sixth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 21 days ago. Significantly up in trip.
New trip is a possibility on pedigree but it's a step into the unknown; market useful.

(6) Masqool 6/1, 3-time C&D winner. 14/1, seventh of 14 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 21 days ago, keeping on when forced to switch 2f out. Back up in trip now and cheekpieces worn for each of his last 2 victories return now.

11:35 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

It might pay to take a chance on the James Evans-trained MASQOOL. The gelded son of Invincible Spirit hasn't been at his best recently, but a return to this course and distance, which has yielded three victories, may well spark a revival. Obsidian Knight didn't quite see out 1m4f at Southwell last time and the drop in trip looks to be a positive move, while others to note include Finn Russell and Forge Valley Lad.

A number arrive with chances including dual C&D winner OBSIDIAN KNIGHT. Far from disgraced when fourth on his latest start at Southwell 11 days ago, he's fallen to a handy mark and could be ready to strike back down in trip. Achillea and Francesi are others to consider, whilst Masqool is another to keep an eye on from a further reduced mark, with the cheekpieces refitted.

Obsidian Knight is second choice behind MASQOOL, who ticks plenty of boxes going back up in trip and back in cheekpieces.

12:05 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Turner Girl and Sun Dancer Girl are arguably the two leading contenders on current form and both merit respect, as does the unexposed Glimmer Of Light, who was far from disgraced at Chelmsford last month. That said, although TIANITA has made little impact on both of her runs since sent handicapping, she could offer some value. Plenty of stamina on the dam's side would suggest she can improve for this step up in trip and the booking of David Probert catches the eye.

Preference is for TURNER GIRL, who arrives in good form and is 1 lb below her last winning mark. Glimmer of LIght may provide the chief threat.

The most interesting contenders are the five-race maidens TIANITA and Glimmer Of Light, who look open to improvement.

12:25 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Chase (Class 3) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Lord Of Cheshire struck on his chase debut at Fontwell last month and it would be no surprise to see him go close off only 2lb higher. However, JAGWAR may have been worth more than the winning margin suggests on his comeback at Wetherby so a 5lb rise might prove to be lenient. With the likelihood of more to come on only his second start over fences, the lightly-raced five-year-old could be the one to beat. Lowry's Bar completes the shortlist.

Plenty are in with a shout but it's hard to side against JAGWAR who still looks ahead of his mark despite taking a 5 lb rise for his stylish chasing debut victory at Wetherby last month. Dan Skelton's returning Mount Tempest heads the list of dangers, with fencing debutants Lowry's Bar and Tanganyika also in the picture too. Heroique de Maulde completes the shortlist in this intriguing handicap.

Competitive. Lucy Wadham has a good record at Bangor and her dual chase winner SCENE ONE hit the ground running last season.

12:35 Lingfield Stakes (Class 5) 8f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

AL SHABABI chased home a 94-rated rival over 7f at Kempton on his debut last month. Given that a step up to the mile should suit the Without Parole colt and with natural improvement on the cards, Owen Burrows' charge is fancied to go in at the second time of asking. Present Times couldn't build on a promising debut performance but he remains of interest switched to the all-weather. Venezuelan paid the price for starting slowly on his racecourse bow, but Ralph Beckett's gelding should be more streetwise this time around.

AL SHABABI made an encouraging start to his career at Kempton last month and looks sure to progress. He gets the nod. Present Times and Best Rate look the likeliest dangers.

Owen Burrows has enjoyed a good season with 2yos and AL SHABABI gets the nod, with Due West second choice.

12:45 Ayr Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Step Out has something to prove after his recent fifth-placed defeat in a novice hurdle here and a switch to chasing will hopefully perk his interest. Fellow chase debutant Kandor may appreciate a return to this distance and the five-year-old isn't taken lightly. However, IMMORTAL FAME arrives on the back of a solid second to a progressive rival over fences at Bangor and he could put his chase experience to good use.

A tricky puzzle to solve despite the small field but preference is for KANDOR, who opened his account over hurdles at Perth in the summer and, having been a runner-up in Irish points earlier in his career, he can make the successful transition to chasing at the expense of Step Out, who was unsuited by the drop in trip when well held here earlier in the month and also makes his chase bow.

The vote goes to IMMORTAL FAME, who has the benefit of chasing experience and ran quite well on slower-than-ideal ground last month.

12:55 Bangor-on-dee Maiden Chase (Class 1) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

YOU WEAR IT WELL is a dual Grade 2 winner over hurdles and now makes her chasing bow. Jamie Snowden's seven-year-old, who landed the 2023 Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham, was last seen finishing well beaten in the Mares' Hurdle at this year's Festival, but this is obviously a much easier assignment and she could put her rivals to the sword. Shecouldbeanything beat Space Tourist by five lengths at Clonmel and should confirm that superiority, while West Balboa is another to note.

A tricky puzzle to solve despite the small field but SHECOULDBEANYTHING completed a quick hat-trick recently and with further progress on the cards, Gordon Elliott's 7-y-o can add another win to her tally at the expense of You Wear It Well, who is a Cheltenham Festival winner over hurdles and makes her return/chase debut with her yard amongst the winners. West Balboa, who shaped well on her chase bow at Worcester 4 weeks ago, rounds off the shortlist.

An interesting race. CASA NO MENTO could have too much speed for these if she can get into a rhythm on her chasing debut.

13:05 Lingfield Stakes (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Cape Breton, who cost 450,000gns as a yearling, has so far only dropped hints of living up to his stellar pedigree. However, the son of Frankel drops in class and still commands respect on his all-weather debut. Nevertheless, there should be plenty more to come from CHARMING LIFE, who is a half-brother to a 7f Listed winner on the all-weather in France. The Godolphin gelding shades preference after a promising introduction at Newmarket 12 days ago. Gemmari and Killenaule are notable debutants to consider.

Plenty in with a squeak but the vote goes to CAPE BRETON, who hasn't lived up to expectations on both turf outings so far but, very much looking the part, Ralph Beckett's colt remains capable of better now switched to all-weather. He can get the better of Charming Life, who knew his job and ran to a fair level on debut at Newmarket recently, while Gemmari and Lady Vivian look most appealing of the newcomers before the benefit of market clues.

Enacting shaped nicely on debut but CHARMING LIFE showed enough from a tough draw at Newmarket 12 days ago to get the vote.

13:15 Ayr Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Decent Flat performer EVALUATION ticks plenty of the right boxes on his hurdles bow. Lucinda Russell's charge finished a respectable 13th in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket last month and he certainly won't be found lacking for stamina in this discipline. Irish point winner Gorvennec failed to make much of an impact in a bumper at Hexham 32 days ago, but better is expected now tackling timber. Nick Alexander's five-year-old is feared most, ahead of Blow A Fortune.

No real depth to this novice but EVALUATION is firmly established as a useful staying performer on the level and is taken to make it first time lucky now tackling timber for the first time. Newcomer Clondaw Fame could well emerge as the chief danger.

Useful Flat stayer EVALUATION makes his hurdling debut in a very modest race and ought to win easily if his jumping is adequate.

13:25 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Chase (Class 2) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Shan Blue finished a close-up third in a premier handicap at Ascot in February and the handicapper might have been kind to drop him 1lb for that performance. Even so, PULL AGAIN GREEN looks the more appealing option. Fergal O'Brien's eight-year-old filled the runner-up spot in this grade at Chepstow last time and is a previous C&D winner. If he can run to a similar level of form, he could prove hard to beat. Celebre D'Allen is another to note after his fourth in the Topham at Aintree in April.

SHAN BLUE was rejuvenated by the application of cheekpieces when third at Ascot on his final 2 starts last season, beaten only 1½ lengths in the Swinley Handicap, so he can take advantage of this drop back in grade on his return. The main danger could be Regal Blue, who reappears having won 2 of his last 3 starts, while Autonomous Cloud arrives fit from a spin over hurdles.

A few with chances but AUTONOMOUS CLOUD (nap) could have a fitness edge over some after his recent outing over hurdles.

13:45 Ayr Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The hat-trick seeking Balranald must enter calculations in his current mood and a 4lb rise in the ratings for his recent triumph at Newcastle looks more than fair. However, SUMMERGROUNDS' third behind two subsequent winners at Kelso last month couldn't have worked out any better and Nicky Richards' gelding shades the verdict. Bathgate is unlikely to be far away if reproducing his latest runner-up effort over C&D.

A few with chances but BATHGATE signalled he is ready to gain a breakthrough victory when an excellent C&D runner-up last time out. Hat-trick seeking Balranald rates the obvious threat, with in-form duo Dalileo and Summergrounds both firmly in the picture too. The lightly-raced Love That completes the shortlist.

Several have possibilities but the vote goes to BATHGATE, who travelled well for a long way before going close over C&D last time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Stablemates Aotano and Jack The Boss are both respected following successful debuts, but the 7lb penalties they carry have to be a concern. With that in mind, preference is for French raider DO IT AGAIN, who is closely related to plenty of Flat winners and is likely to have been well schooled. Adaay Forever edges out Lautrec De Cougny and Global Hideaway to be best of the rest.

Dan Skelton has a good record with hurdling debutants so GLOBAL HIDEAWAY is the tentative choice ahead of Donald McCain's penalised winners Aotano and Jack The Boss.

Alan King's ADAAY FOREVER was fairly strong in the market at Wetherby only to be wiped out at the second flight.

14:00 Dundalk Handicap 5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A very tricky sprint handicap. IRISH RUMOUR has been in decent form on turf and has an each-way chance back on the Polytrack. She made the breakthrough at Navan in September and it is worth noting that she has several placed efforts at Dundalk in the book. My Girl Sioux stayed on strongly to win over C&D at the start of the month and is a good ride for 10lb claimer Jimmy Dalton to get. Babyface was outgunned in second by My Girl Sioux, but is better off at the weights now. In-form Make Clear, recent-winner Sporting Hero, class-dropper Only Spoofing and last year's winner Realtin Fantasy will all have their supporters.

ONLY SPOOFING is becoming well handicapped so could be worth chancing. My Girl Sioux and Make Clear both arrive on the back of a career-best win so they head the dangers.

My Girl Sioux and Babyface renew rivalry from a recent C&D encounter but the pair could be usurped here by IRISH RUMOUR

14:07 Lingfield Listed (Class 1) 13f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

William Haggas has won four of the last seven renewals and has another live chance with SEA THEME, who was far from disgraced when seventh in the Champions Fillies And Mares Stakes at Ascot last month. Already a dual Listed winner, the daughter of Sea The Stars holds every chance of further success back at this level. Runner-up in the Diamond Stakes at Dundalk most recently, Madam Celeste is feared most, although the upwardly mobile Meribella commands respect too.

SEA THEME should find this a lot easier than the Group 3s she's been contesting recently and can enhance the strong record of the William Haggas stable in this race. Scarlett O'Hara chased home the selection in a similar race in France during the summer and may fill the forecast spot again. Fellow Irish raider Madam Celeste and Ralph Beckett's Meribella complete the shortlist.

William Haggas won this Listed contest in 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2023 and SEA THEME gives him a good chance to improve that record.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

This may prove a good opportunity for ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN to return to winning ways. Ben Haslam's charge was thwarted in his hat-trick bid when finishing third at Cartmel in August but, easing in trip off an unchanged mark, he gets the nod ahead of Artic Row. Nick Alexander's gelding didn't get further than the first on his seasonal reappearance at Hexham, but he boasts form figures of 91111 at this venue and must enter calculations. No Regrets is also noteworthy.

ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN was third in a better race than this at Cartmel 11 weeks ago and could be the way to go. Artic Row has an excellent record here so is next best on his second try at this distance.

Ayr brings out the best in ARTIC ROW, whose five visits here have yielded four wins, and he gets the nod ahead of No Regrets.

14:25 Bangor-on-dee Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

JUNKER D'ALLIER created a big impression when winning well on his hurdling debut at Carlisle last month and Olly Murphy's gelding is hard to oppose on the back of that performance. Joltin N Jiving scored between the flags in Ireland earlier in the year and has to be of interest on his Rules bow. Sole Solution and Old Time Chaser are others to note.

Having finished runner-up all 3 starts in bumpers, JUNKER D'ALLIER marked himself down as a good hurdles prospect when opening his account in a Carlisle novice 4 weeks ago, travelling strongly and drawing clear under hands-and-heels riding. He gets the nod to defy a penalty and make it 2-2 in this sphere. Old Time Chaser and hurdles debutants Sole Solution and Joltin N Jiving are others to consider.

The 5yo JUNKER D'ALLIER could take some beating. He's fit, in good form and seemingly held in some regard.

14:30 Dundalk Claimer 8f  Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

SAYIFYOUWILL comes with risks, having refused to load in her last couple of races in Dundalk, but her form chance is undeniable. Her close third in a fillies' handicap over 7f at this track last month reads well as the winner went on to be second in Listed class last week. Comfort Line should be dangerous in this grade having won a C&D handicap on his penultimate start. It has been a long time since Wrist Art raced in Dundalk, but he returns in good form courtesy of being pipped by a short head in Gowran Park. Timourid is more than capable of giving Nicola Burns a good spin, while Man Is King showed much more in second over C&D last Friday.

TIMOURID got stuck in the mud over hurdles last time but he went close in a similar event to this before that and is favoured by these terms. Claims can also be made for Comfort Line, Wrist Art and Sayifyouwill.

Timourid rates a big player but preference is for COMFORT LINE who has been running to form of late in C&D handicaps

14:40 Lingfield Listed (Class 1) 8f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

This revolves around SACRED ANGEL and how fit she is following an absence. Much will have been expected of the daughter of Dark Angel in 2024 following a juvenile campaign that resulted in a Princess Margaret win and a third in the Cheveley Park, but she struggled in the 1000 Guineas and hasn't been seen since. If near to her peak, this provides her with a good opportunity to get her career back on track. Ornellaia, who made the frame in the Moyglare at two, has also had just the one outing this year, finishing down the field at Ascot. She could still be dangerous, with Doom the most likely to capitalise if the aforementioned pair aren't what they were.

A listed winner in France last year, DOOM bettered that form when placed in Group races on her first 3 starts this season, so she is taken to get back to winning ways returned to this level with a tongue strap added. She can see off the challenge of French-mare Iken, who has been thriving as the year has gone on, with Julia Augusta also capable of getting involved.

With strong claims back in Listed grade, DOOM is preferred. French mare Iken is second choice.

14:50 Ayr Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Fourofakind lost little in defeat when finishing fourth over 2m4f at Carlisle earlier this month and, with his sights lowered off an unchanged mark, he warrants the utmost respect. That said, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED edges preference. He fairly bolted up over an extended 2m5f at Ludlow last month and, making his handicap debut for the in-form Dianne Sayer team, he looks the one to side with. Fellow last-time-out winner Kilbrainy is respected most of the remainder.

FOUROFAKIND continued in top form when making the frame at Carlisle 10 days ago and, with Conor Rabbitt back in the saddle (on board for both wins this season), he can take advantage of the return to this lower grade. Follow Charlie won twice over C&D last season and could be the main danger, ahead of Kilbrainy.

Topweight FOUROFAKIND (nap) has done very well since joining Lizzie Quinlan in the summer and can post his third win for the yard.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Gentleman Bill sets the standard of those with hurdling experience following his third at Carlisle last month. That said, the vote goes to DOCTOR KILDARE, who took a step forward from his debut when winning a bumper here in April and he may improve again now switched to obstacles. I'm A Lumberjack is another to consider on his first outing over timber, while Oh My Johnny should not be underestimated.

I'M A LUMBERJACK is from a good jumping family and acquitted himself well in bumpers last term. He can make a successful switch to hurdling. Oh My Johnny made a good start over timber at Ludlow last month and is feared most, whilst Doctor Kildare is also of interest on his first outing in this sphere.

Alan King's I'M A LUMBERJACK has some strong bumper form on his record and might be the answer on his hurdling debut.

15:05 Dundalk Maiden 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

WHISPER A PRAYER could prove good enough to shed her maiden status. Joseph O'Brien's charge gets first-time cheekpieces after six runs on turf that yielded a couple of placed finishes in Cork and Roscommon. She is on a light weight with Julian Pietropaolo's claim factored in. There was promise in Tuba's debut third over 1m at Limerick and perhaps the further trip didn't suit when he then finished sixth at Killarney. My Little Lady has shown enough to suggest she will get in the mix, while there is surely more to come from Aratayvo. If Annaghmccanns breaks better, she can improve upon an opening eighth over C&D.

Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and Joseph O'Brien's WHISPER A PRAYER looks the way to go on the back of a solid Galway fourth. Tuba also has the form to play a part and is next on the list ahead of Aratayvo and My Little Lady.

Plenty went wrong for WHISPER A PRAYER when fourth behind a useful stablemate at Galway. She faces weaker opposition here.

15:15 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

DRIFTS AWAY is progressing nicely and supplemented his breakthrough Chelmsford triumph when justifying favouritism at Southwell. A further 7lb rise demands considerably more of him, but his rate of improvement could keep him ahead of the handicapper for now. Claxton Bay was unable to reward favourite-backers when attempting to back up a Beverley victory at Newmarket and, even though he has something to prove on the all-weather, he can't be written off yet. Book Of Life and Celebrating Ethel are a couple more to consider.

DRIFTS AWAY stands out as a 3-y-o on the up and can defy the handicapper again and complete a hat-trick. Hitched confirmed he's back in better form when fourth at Wolverhampton last month and is second choice ahead of Claxton Bay.

The longer trip should be fine for BOOK OF LIFE, who was a 7.5f 2yo Polytrack winner in France. He's preferred to Hitched.

15:25 Ayr NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CASTLE CARROCK is out of a bumper winner and is a close relation to a useful chase winner. This looks a good starting point and he rates the one to side with first time up for the in-form Nicky Richards yard. Runner-up on her only point-to-point start, Shes All Pride commands respect on her Rules debut, while Wild Reiver and Glenville are a couple of others to consider.

Nicky Richards operates at a 25% strike-rate in bumpers here so CASTLE CARROCK looks the most likely winner before any market clues are known. Iain Jardine is more than capable of readying one for a race like this so Wild Reiver is a tentative second choice ahead of Irish point runner-up She's All Pride, a first ever Ayr runner for Deborah Cole.

The filly SHES ALL PRIDE showed ability in an Irish mares' maiden point in May and it's possible this race may not take much winning.

15:35 Bangor-on-dee Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 20f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Venetia Williams has a good record with French imports and, with that in mind, LEMONCELLO could be worth chancing on his UK debut. A winner over fences when last seen in his homeland, this half-brother to the smart Saint Pair looks a bright prospect back over hurdles. The class-dropping Aston Martini also rates a player in this company, while Itsnoteasy warrants consideration debuting in a handicap from a workable mark.

WEST TO THE BRIDGE could be spot on for this after last month's reappearance and might be worth siding with to take advantage of his lowest mark for a while. Unexposed pair Aston Martini and Itsnoteasy are interesting handicap newcomers, while Might I is more than capable off his current rating if on a going day.

Preference is for JIPCOT, who was placed over a slightly higher mark in a major handicap in March and might have needed his recent run.

15:40 Dundalk Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Donnacha O'Brien's I AM ME brings a good level of form into battle with a runner-up berth at Roscommon and a third place in the Curragh. Forza Toro was beaten just over three lengths into fourth on debut at Gowran Park and the winner has since finished second in a Group 2, so he has to be respected. Flash The Cash is up in trip and, with three placed runs banked, she could get involved. Joseph O'Brien runs two newcomers in One Horse Town and Dahoma who should be given a market check. Reserve What's Your Game would be of interest if getting a run as there was definite promise in his debut sixth in a Curragh maiden.

FORZA TORO produced a promising first effort when fourth in a Gowran maiden back in September and, rating a likely improver with that under his belt, he looks to hold sound claims on polytrack debut. I Am Me and Aviatrice are others to consider.

A hopeful vote goes to SIX THIRTY who showed much improved form on his second start and may beat the well exposed Flashthecash

15:50 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

LION RING is unbeaten in his last four appearances on Polytrack - all in class 6 company - with his sole defeat in that time coming in a class 5 on the Southwell Tapeta. Andrew Martin's six-year-old has only been bumped up another 3lb for his latest success, and Ryan Kavanagh clearly gets a great tune out of him. Phoenix Moon arrives in good form and could turn out to be the primary threat, although spare a thought for the veteran Recon Mission.

The thriving LION RING might be able to defy the handicapper again from a handy inside stall. Phoenix Moon and Recon Mission arrive in form and should be on the premises, while Professor Tickle and Walking On Clouds are back on good marks and would enter the reckoning if the betting speaks in their favour.

Phoenix Moon is respected but LION RING (nap) is selected to win his fifth consecutive race when on Polytrack.

16:05 Bangor-on-dee Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

BEAUFORT SCALE, who has proven stamina from facing stiffer tests in Ireland, appeals strongly back in novice company and is readily suggested as the one to be with. Stratford scorer Minella Rescue is far from the finished article and, unexposed over this trip under Rules, rates a serious threat to the selection. Carrig Kate wasn't beaten far at Stratford last month and is another appealing option. Betting support for point-to-point winner Subtle Fortune would be noteworthy.

If Gordon Elliott's BEAUFORT SCALE can recapture the form he showed when landing a Kilbeggan maiden in July he's probably the one to beat. Minella Rescue, a winner at Stratford when last seen in May, and last month's Stratford runner-up Carrig Kate are likely to provide the main opposition.

A chance is taken on NIGHT DUTY. He got edgy beforehand and probably didn't do himself true justice last month at Stratford.

16:15 Dundalk Handicap 7f  Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ALTIMARA wouldn't be winning out of turn having coming home fourth and third in her last two appearances at Dundalk. Jockey Nathan Crosse holds the box seat in stall one which gives him options. Notforalongtime has been out of form, but he competes off a lowly mark due to Jimmy Dalton's claim and a better performance wouldn't be surprising. Mullacash Buzz is another on an appealing mark with a 10lb claimer aboard. Blanc De Noir is on a hat-trick after winning a couple of 6f handicaps at Fairyhouse and this venue. He is up another 5lb and has to show that he is as effective over this trip. Jazzy Dancer's three victories have come over shorter trips.

BLANC DE NOIR has bounced back to form with blinkers refitted of late, successful at Fairyhouse before following up over 6f here 3 weeks ago. Totally unexposed on this surface, he looks a live player in his hat-trick bid back at 7f. Lightly-raced 3-y-o Altimara and Jazzy Dancer are others to consider. Wonder Spirit also makes each-way appeal at likely longer odds.

Winner of this race in 2021 and 2023, MULLACASH BUZZ has a fighting chance with Nicola Burns aboard

16:30 Southwell Stakes (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Although Sex On Fire has something to prove after two defeats at York, the combination of a gelding procedure and a longer trip should see him in a better light. He cannot be ruled out, but IMMEDIATE EFFECT makes slightly more appeal. The son of Study Of Man overcame greenness when making a winning debut at Wolverhampton and he may be able to find enough improvement to defy a penalty. I Can Imagine and Sahara Dancer are others to consider.

Sir Mark Prescott's IMMEDIATE EFFECT looked a good prospect when overcoming inexperience and a troubled passage to make a winning debut at Wolverhampton and is fancied to follow up at the chief expense of Sahara Dancer who has the form to have a big say. Jack Jones' new recruit I Can Imagine is also in the mix along with Sex On Fire.

Although he will need to improve to defy a penalty, IMMEDIATE EFFECT did so much wrong at Wolverhampton that progress looks very likely.

16:45 Dundalk Handicap 11f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ALJADEL has plenty of all-weather form in Britain and can make an impact on her Dundalk debut. She should be sharper after a spin on turf at the Curragh last month. Warazam looks weighted to do damage after a couple of runner-up finishes at Cork and Thurles in October. She wasn't beaten far into fifth when last seen over further at the Curragh. Rotolo has acquitted herself well in slightly higher grades at Navan and Leopardstown which brings her into the reckoning. It is worth noting that both Warazam and Rotolo are setting foot on Polytrack for the first time.

WARAZAM has a less-exposed profile than most of these and might be able to get off the mark on the back of some solid efforts in turf handicaps this autumn. Rotolo will be a threat if bouncing back to the level of her penultimate Leopardstown second. Thegooseiscooked could also play a part if getting away from the stalls better in first-time headgear.

Not the most competitive for the grade and perhaps worth chancing on ALJADEL now returning to the AW

17:00 Southwell Handicap (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The step up to 7f enabled an improved bid from APEELING when a staying-on third at Wolverhampton. A 1lb nudge up the ratings looks more than workable for Andrew Balding's filly and a second career victory could be on the cards. Mrs Morrell didn't enjoy the best of passages in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot and she is one to note on her return in calmer waters. Executive Decision is also dropping in class and completes the shortlist.

A case can be made for a few of these but Gemma Tutty's course winner ENOLA GREY rates the pick of the weights so edges the vote from the returning Mrs Morrell who remains with potential for the powerful Gosden team. Executive Decision and Triumph of Peace also warrant plenty of respect in this competitive handicap.

The vote goes to APEELING, who is unexposed on AW and was a strong-finishing third when upped to 7f at Wolverhampton last time.

17:15 Dundalk Handicap 11f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

NUMIDIA didn't perform badly over further in fourth at Bellewstown and fifth at this track. The last couple of times he ran over C&D he finished second, so a big run looks likely. Jockey Wesley Joyce is good value for his 5lb claim. Jawhary has been sliding down the weights and was beaten less than two lengths into fifth over C&D last week. He races off the same mark, so is well in the hunt for prize money. Omakase tries a new trip on her third run back from a lengthy absence and shouldn't be ruled out.

This trip could be what OMAKASE wants so she's worth chancing to get off the mark. Darkened, Jawhary and Numidia head the dangers in this finale.

Not too many appeal and perhaps last week's C&D fifth JAWHARY could be the one in what appears a weaker race for the grade

17:30 Southwell Maiden (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having stayed on encouragingly when runner-up at Southwell, a breakthrough victory shouldn't be long in coming for GREY SALVO. This represents a drop in class for Roger Fell's filly and she rates as the one to beat. Kildonan should prove more competitive reverting to maiden company, although he does have something to prove after finishing last at Pontefract. With that in mind, President Wilson may give the selection most to think about, despite this drop in distance looking against the son of Bobby's Kitten.

The market should prove highly informative but Hugo Palmer's Soldier's Call newcomer RIBBON IS A DANCER is bred to be well above average so gets the vote at the chief expense of form-pick Grey Salvo. Another debutant Trouble Man could have a say too in this open-looking maiden.

Preference is for GREY SALVO, who made a promising start when runner-up behind an odds-on rival over C&D last Monday.

Prometeo accounted for his nearest rival by half a length at Kempton to supplement a Doncaster triumph and holds an obvious chance of completing the hat-trick. However, the step up in grade might catch him out so LA PULGA gets the nod. Charlie Johnston's five-year-old produced a good effort to hit the crossbar in a tougher event than this at Newcastle and is only 2lb higher. With a repeat of that effort, he will prove tough to beat. Beraz is another to consider.

Alan King's WESTERTON comes here on the back of a very good fifth over hurdles so is fancied to capitalise on a handy-looking mark. Primo Lara should be all the better for his recent Doncaster eleventh after an absence and could emerge as the main danger, with Prometeo, Beraz and Gloucestershire all worthy of consideration too.

Fantasy Believer has plenty going for him back over C&D but PRIMO LARA was on the upgrade earlier and may still be ahead of his mark

18:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ROSE LIGHT closed all the way to the line when finishing second at Wolverhampton and that form reads well in the context of this race. Tony Forbes' five-year-old goes off only a 1lb higher mark and could record her second course victory. Camacho Man occupied the runner-up berth over track and trip earlier in the month and he might get into contention, while Fiftyshadesaresdev is another to keep an eye on.

CAMACHO MAN ran well on the back of a 5-month break when runner-up over C&D 11 days ago and, entitled to be sharper with that under his belt, he could be the answer having been nudged up just 1 lb. Bay Dream Believer is holding her form well and is feared along with Rose Light.

Judged on 2024 form CAMACHO MAN (nap) holds particularly solid claims. Rose Light is second choice.

19:00 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Stroxx finished a close-up third at Chelmsford in April and should give a good account off a 1lb lower mark on his return to action. However, HAPPIER looks the way to go. Tim Easterby's four-year-old was well held in fifth at Catterick last time, but she has been dropped 2lb so it would be no surprise to see her capitalise on a career-low mark. Fortunate Star shared the spoils over C&D last week and is another to watch out for.

FORTUNATE STAR capitalised on his much-reduced mark when dead-heating in a C&D contest 6 days ago and he could well be up to following up under a penalty. Happier, Brandy Stationm with a recent run under his belt, and Lewis Barnes are others to consider.

Mehmo can go well at this level but HAPPIER belatedly tackles 5f for the first time and and she can defy top weight.

19:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

ARC ZOOSVE put in a career best when a neck second over 1m6f at this venue on his handicap debut a couple of weeks ago and a further step up in trip can see him go one better. Sir Joseph Swan has also been knocking on the door of late and is an obvious threat, while Kojin edges out Daaris to be best of the rest.

ARC ZOOSVE showed improved form when only just failing to make a winning handicap debut here last month and shades the vote over fellow 3-y-o Brividi, who should do much better now upped markedly in trip for handicap bow. Sir Joseph Swan has been knocking on the door of late and completes the shortlist.

Sir Joseph Swan's turn looks near but unexposed ARC ZOOSVE is an interesting alternative. Alex The Great won yesterday.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

PIPERSTOWN has filled third place on both starts since being switched to handicaps and a 1lb drop in the ratings could help the unexposed three-year-old get off the mark here. Irish Dancer has made the frame over C&D the last twice and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Savalas and You Are Everything complete the shortlist.

PIPERSTOWN has made a positive start to life in handicaps and gets the vote with the return to 6f in his favour. You Are Everything and Irish Dancer head the dangers.

Unexposed 3yos Piperstown and ARC TESORO appeal most with the latter perhaps open to the greater improvement.

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.
