10/1(-25%) | (7) Hardwired 10/1, 2 wins from 3 runs this season. 9/1, career best when winning 10-runner handicap chase at Punchestown (23.3f, good to soft) 32 days ago, keeping on well. Not ruled out. Seems to have become more dependable, has won two of his last three races, stays further. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (25/1 -56%) Magnium |
25/1(-56%) | (9) Magnium 25/1, 50/1, sole run for John Patrick Ryan when thirteenth of 15 in handicap chase at Killarney (20f, good). Off 6 months but no forlorn hope for leading yard. Form has been dismal in recent seasons, something of a miracle is required on yard debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Recent Thurles winner ARDERA RU can double up by recording a second career win over fences. Eoin Doyle's mare had excuses when failing to make any impact on her chasing debut last July but shaped much better when runner-up at Tramore in April. Back from a summer break, the mare was an easy winner on her latest start. Still rated 5lb below her hurdles mark, she has a bit in hand. Midnight It Is boasts a similar profile although Gavin Cromwell's gelding has more experience over the larger obstacles. A winner at Clonmel last month, the seven-year-old remains one to be interested in. Magnium has little to recommend him on recent form but trainer Gordon Elliott did remarkably well with a similar type for the same owner last season.
ARDERA RU resumed with an impressive success at Thurles last month so looks the way to go with further progress very much on the cards from Eoin Doyle's mare. Tramore-scorer Another Million also has better days ahead of him and he is feared most, with Midnight It Is and Jenny Flex also in the picture in a competitive handicap.
It has taken a while for MIDNIGHT IT IS to get to grips with chasing but his Clonmel win suggested there could be more to come now

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
KING OF KINGSFIELD has to be given another chance despite suffering an odds on reversal on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse last month. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding was one of the leading bumper horses last season, ending his campaign with an excellent third in a Grade 1 contest at the Punchestown Festival. While his subsequent defeat was unquestionably a setback, time may show that he came up against a very useful opponent. Point-to-point winner Slade Steel made a winning racecourse debut at Punchestown in December before running with credit when third in a stronger race at that same venue on his last start. He should be capable of taking a step forward again this term. Icare Desbois has been off the track since making a winning debut at Fairyhouse 574 days ago but such an absence is seldom a concern with his trainer.
KING OF KINGSFIELD showed useful form in bumpers (placed in the Grade 1 at Punchestown in April) and made an encouraging debut in this sphere when second at Fairyhouse on return 6 weeks ago, unlucky to bump into another good prospect but well clear of the rest, and he sets the bar pretty high here. Useful bumper winners Slade Steel and Icare Desbois are obvious threats going hurdling for the first time.
Despite an unexpected reverse on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse KING OF KINSGFIELD is tipped to deliver for the in-form Elliott team

1st (4) (11/4 +45%) Operation Manna |
11/4(+45%) | (4) Operation Manna 11/4, Returned from 8 months off to make a winning reappearance/handicap debut at Chepstow last season. Third on both completed starts later in the campaign. Clearly capable fresh and remains relatively unexposed after only 4 career starts. Not disgraced in March on latest start; no shock if he returns refreshed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (16/1 -33%) Branson Missouri |
16/1(-33%) | (7) Branson Missouri 16/1, Took his form up a level when landing brace of 2½m Worcester handicaps in the first half of last season. Off since finishing a distant fourth of 5 in C&D listed race in January. Might be best watched this time. Two 2m4f wins on soft last year; tailed off facing a stiff task over C&D in January latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 +0%) Issam |
9/2(+0%) | (1) Issam 9/2, Successful twice over hurdles in France and overcame late mistakes to get off the mark for current connections at Exeter (18.5f, soft) when last seen in March. Likely to be thereabouts assuming he's fully tuned up on return (has gone well fresh previously). Back up 5lb after March win but may now be on the up and looks worth another go at 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/2 -57%) Kansas Du Berlais |
11/2(-57%) | (5) Kansas Du Berlais 11/2, It all clicked for him with maiden/novice wins at Fontwell in the spring. Not so good on 2m course handicap debut on final start but worth another chance to show he's capable of better on return. Very mixed in his first British season but just a 4yo and better may well be forthcoming. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (3/1 +10%) Individualiste |
3/1(+10%) | (8) Individualiste 3/1, Fair on the Flat in France and he got off the mark in good style for new yard in novice hurdle at Taunton (19f, heavy) in March 2022. First outing since when an encouraging fourth in 21.5f Newton Abbot handicap 22 days ago. Remains capable of better for top stable. 597 days off before creditable 4th on handicap debut (2m5f, heavy); may well build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (14/1 -100%) Corey's Courage |
14/1(-100%) | (2) Corey's Courage 14/1, Back on the up when scoring twice in handicap company in the spring. A 7 lb rise for winning a weak race at Ffos Las in May does mean she'll need a big career best to add to her tally on return, though. 5-10 over hurdles; 10l win in a five-runner race at Ffos Las (2m6f, soft) in May latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/2 +21%) Mamoon Star |
11/2(+21%) | (6) Mamoon Star 11/2, Proved rather disappointing after winning a 2m Taunton novice last season but he got his career back on track with a tongue tie added (retained) when 13 lengths second of 9 in 2m Wincanton handicap on reappearance. Needs to show he can build on that now. Back with a creditable 2nd when tongue tied at Wincanton last month; needs a career best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (40/1 -82%) Time To Tinker |
40/1(-82%) | (3) Time To Tinker 40/1, Three-time winner for Paul Nicholls in 2021. More miss than hit since and a watching brief is the percentage call now setting out for a new stable after 6 months off. Sparked only once last term and below form in May; left Paul Nicholls for £19,000 in June. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Kansas Du Berlais did well last season, with two wins from five starts after wind surgery, and is respected off 1lb lower than when last seen in a series final here in April. Corey's Courage was successful when last seen and a 7lb higher rating looks fair given her wide-margin victory that day. Nevertheless, OPERATION MANNA, who has won when fresh before, edges the vote on these terms.
Paul Nicholls and Freddie Gingell combined to win this race last year and may do so again with INDIVIDUALISTE, who shaped well on his recent return from a long absence and should be spot on now. Although Kansas du Berlais failed to fire in a handicap here at the end of last season he remains one who should have more to offer in this sphere and is second choice ahead of Issam.
Most have to be taken seriously but slight preference is for INIDIVIDUALISTE ahead of Kansas Du Berlais.

1st (7) (25/1 -25%) Three Cliffs Bay |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Three Cliffs Bay 25/1, Well backed and looked set to finish second until falling late on debut in Chepstow bumper last Christmas. Yet to build on that promise, including a well-beaten sixth when sent off at 66/1 for his recent Hereford hurdle debut. Jumping lacked fluency and never figured at Hereford on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/2 +38%) Steel Ally |
5/2(+38%) | (6) Steel Ally 5/2, Showed plenty when runner-up on debut in a Chepstow bumper (2m) just over a year ago. Failed to build on that in 2 subsequent outings last season but retains potential now hurdling on his return. Market support could prove significant. Has some useful jumpers in his pedigree and may progress now hurdling; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 -67%) Kioto Sun |
10/1(-67%) | (5) Kioto Sun 10/1, Ran to a fair level when third in a course bumper 13 months ago. It's taken a while to get him back to the track and he sports a tongue tie now hurdling. Promising debut in bumper here 13 months ago; interesting on return to action. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/4 +21%) Davidoc |
11/4(+21%) | (2) Davidoc 11/4, £60,000 buy after winning at the fourth time of asking in the Irish pointing field in May. Interesting recruit for a stable which has tasted success in this race before. Easy winner on fourth attempt in Irish points; heed the market signals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (5/4 +23%) Flying Fortune |
5/4(+23%) | (8) Flying Fortune 5/4, Dual bumper winner who failed to meet expectations on hurdles debut at Worcester in September but much more like it when second of 10 in novice a Newton Abbot (17f) 22 days ago. Open to further improvement in this sphere. Two bumper wins; clear second over hurdles at Newton Abbot last time; sets the standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (22/1 -38%) Illogical Logic |
22/1(-38%) | (3) Illogical Logic 22/1, Made frame both starts in Irish points before sixth of 12 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (2m, soft, 40/1) on debut under Rules 30 days ago. Needs to build on that now. May do better with Chepstow effort (rules debut) under his belt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (100/1 -400%) Ionity |
100/1(-400%) | (4) Ionity 100/1, €26,000 Walzertakt gelding. Dam 1½m-15.5f winner on Flat in France. The betting should help guide to expectations with this newcomer. 26,000euros 3yo; connections also run Ask Me Out; market informative. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (66/1 -230%) Ask Me Out |
66/1(-230%) | (1) Ask Me Out 66/1, €32,000 Ask gelding. Closely related to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/chaser Tommy Rapper, stayed 25f, and half-brother to a winner. Dam unraced. One of 3 runners in this from his stable. Market informative. 32,000euros 3yo; one of two newcomers for his connections; market instructive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Dual bumper winner Flying Fortune merits the utmost respect having hit the woodwork at Newton Abbot last time, but a chance is taken on STEEL ALLY. The son of Doctor Dino failed to progress following a good second on his debut, but the switch to hurdles ought to see him to far greater effect. Davidoc bolted up between the flags in May and could be involved, while Ionity is also noted.
There should be more to come from FLYING FORTUNE over hurdles and he's taken to go one better than at Newton Abbot. Sam Thomas hurdle newcomer Steel Ally and Irish point recruit Davidoc may give him most to do in a contest where the betting is likely to be informative.
The form choice is FLYING FORTUNE. Steel Ally (second choice) and Kioto Sun are interesting types.

10/1(-67%) | (3) Smooth Tom 10/1, Useful Flat performer who made a winning hurdle debut at Listowel in September. Well beaten on the Flat since but there should be more to come from him in this sphere. Useful on Flat, beat a Willie Mullins-trained bumper winner on hurdling debut at Listowel. |

5/1(+0%) | (5) Mayor's Walk 5/1, Point winner. 5/1 and hooded, won 16-runner maiden hurdle at Listowel (20f, soft) on NH debut 55 days ago, comfortably. Trainer going well. Should progress. Point winner, won ordinary 2m4f mares' maiden at Listowel, faces a tougher challenge now. |

50/1(-150%) | (6) Pastorale 50/1, Pulled up in a Pau hurdle on debut but won a claiming chase there 13 days later. Has switched to Henry de Bromhead since. Mayor's Walk has to be considered the yard first string unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Handled heavy ground well when winning a claiming chase in France, may need further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (6/4 +40%) Hypotenus |
6/4(+40%) | (2) Hypotenus 6/4, Useful form. First run since leaving John McConnell when career best when winning 20-runner novice hurdle at Gowran (16f, heavy, 6/4) 44 days ago, outstaying rivals. Three Flat wins, good winner on stable debut despite an untidy round of jumping. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HYPOTENUS, who couldn't have won any easier on stable debut last time, holds leading claims of following up. The former French flat winner made a very pleasing Irish debut for John McConnell when runner-up in a Fairyhouse Grade 3 on his Irish debut but failed to go on from there. While there would be a slight concern that he could do likewise for Gavin Cromwell, the four-year-old has to be given the benefit of the doubt. Smooth Tom achieved a mark of 90 on the flat before switching to hurdles to make a winning debut at Listowel. The Andrew Slattery-trained representative has a decent turn of foot that could prove crucial in this small field. Golden Joy is difficult to access having easily won his only start over hurdles in is native France.
Gordon Elliott French recruit GOLDEN JOY gets the vote, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Hypotenus won easily on his first start for Gavin Cromwell and might be the one to give him most to do.
If maintaining the progress shown in winning at Gowran on his first start for Gavin Cromwell HYPOTENUS may prove best here

1st (4) (11/2 -214%) Le Patron |
11/2(-214%) | (4) Le Patron 11/2, Fairly useful ex-French hurdles winner who looked a good prospect when easily going in at the first time of asking over fences in 4-runner handicap chase at Fontwell (19.5f, good) 36 days ago. Player. Reappeared with runaway win in four-runner novice handicap chase at Fontwell (2m3f, good). |

2nd (1) (2/1 +27%) Blow Your Wad |
2/1(+27%) | (1) Blow Your Wad 2/1, Dual hurdles winner last season who resumed with a very good second of 14 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (19.4f, heavy) 29 days ago. Much respected on his chase debut. Good second in a useful handicap hurdle at Chepstow (near 2m4f, heavy) four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (6/1 +14%) Game Winner |
6/1(+14%) | (5) Game Winner 6/1, Fair form when fourth at Hereford only start in bumpers for Paul Nicholls and he showed himself to be a fairly useful hurdler after, scoring at Kempton (2m5f) in February. Considered now starting out in this sphere. Solid three-race campaign as novice hurdler; starts chase career with plenty of potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/4 +44%) Henri The Second |
5/4(+44%) | (3) Henri The Second 5/4, Useful in bumpers and he quickly reached a similar level over hurdles last term, winning a Grade 2 here in December. Returns on the back of a wind op and rates an interesting chase prospect for last year's winning yard. Had wind surgery in July; half-brother to the stable's smart Enrilo; still one to note. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BLOW YOUR WAD has been highly tried on a number of occasions and has acquitted himself admirably in the face of some stiff tests. With his sights lowered after a game second in a higher grade at Chepstow last month, the Tom Lacey-trained gelding has a lot going for him. Paul Nicholls sent out the winner of this race last year and his Henri The Second is another notable contender, along with Fontwell winner Le Patron.
Lots of potential on show, not least from HENRI THE SECOND who showed himsefl to be a useful winning hurdler last term and is faniced to make a successful start in the sphere for last year's winning yard. Le Patron impressed when a wide-margin scorer at Fontwell and rates a big threat, with chasing debutants Blow Your Wad and Game Winner not discounted either,
There's more for Le Patron to worry about in this field, most notably from BLOW YOUR WAD and Henri The Second.

1st (6) (2/1 +67%) Haut Folin |
2/1(+67%) | (6) Haut Folin 2/1, Successful twice in France but last season was a washout for this yard. Mark has eased a little more but he does start the new campaign with something to prove. Dual chase winner in France; first British season did not go well but stable has hit form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (12/1 -140%) Lazy Sunday |
12/1(-140%) | (3) Lazy Sunday 12/1, Completed her hat-trick in emphatic fashion at Ffos Las (20.9f) in March. Signed off with an excellent second in handicap chase at Wincanton following month and she can make her presence felt. Hat-trick early this year; more to prove on worse than good to soft and back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 -78%) Flintara |
16/1(-78%) | (7) Flintara 16/1, Better than ever when winning 2 of her 3 starts over hurdles last season but didn't take to this sphere on her sole attempt 2 years ago. Pulled up in 2021 on her sole run over fences, when her jumping was not good enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -20%) Stellar Stream |
12/1(-20%) | (5) Stellar Stream 12/1, Successful pointer who confirmed hurdling debut promise when readily landing 4-runner novice at Hereford (25.5f, good) in February. Disappointed on handicap bow at Warwick final start but remains with potential now going chasing. Needs to bounce back from a poor show on handicap debut over hurdles in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (15/2 -25%) Gold Emery |
15/2(-25%) | (4) Gold Emery 15/2, Point/hurdles winner who got better with each run over fences last season, second to a subsequent winner at Uttoxeter final start. Remains low mileage so needs considering. 2nd in handicaps at Newcastle (2m4f, heavy) and Uttoxeter (3m, soft) last two chase starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/1 +9%) Rock Of Star |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Rock Of Star 5/1, Hurdles winner who took his form up a notch over fences last season, landing back-to-back handicaps at Chepstow (23.6f) in the spring. Decent third at Newton Abbot on comeback 3 weeks ago and entitled to build on that. Made a satisfactory return three weeks ago (heavy) and should be ready for a big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (7/2 +22%) Puddlesinthepark |
7/2(+22%) | (8) Puddlesinthepark 7/2, Winner of 3m Ffos Las handicap hurdle in March. Made an encouraging start to his chase career when second at Worcester in May and ran to a similar level when third at Chepstow on return last month. Should have more to come in this sphere. Considered. Solid placings when switched to fences for last two outings, the latest over 2m7f on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (7/1 +0%) King Of Brazil |
7/1(+0%) | (2) King Of Brazil 7/1, Modest form in bumpers but much better signs over hurdles, confirming debut promise when landing 2m novice at Warwick in March. Signed off with a poor run, but yard's horses tend to do better over fences and he's worth a second look. May well stay 3m and should have potential in this second season jumping; chase newcomer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (33/1 -32%) Est Illic |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Est Illic 33/1, Modest handicap chaser nowadays and opposable back up in class. No win since 2020; inconsistent and this is his first run under rules beyond 2m5f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Evan Williams was successful in this contest 12 months ago and the local trainer is fancied to repeat the dose with PUDDLESINTHEPARK. The unexposed chaser finished a creditable third on his reappearance last month and looks set to improve. Eased 1lb in the ratings, he can repel the likely challenge of Lazy Sunday, who was in excellent form when last seen. Others to note include Rock Of Star and Est Illic.
PUDDLESINTHEPARK has taken well to fences and remains with potential after his good comeback run at Chepstow. He shades the vote over Lazy Sunday, who thrived in the second half of last season. Gold Emery and Rock of Star are also potential threats.
A good show should be on its way from ROCK OF STAR, with Haut Folin feared most given the success Venetia Williams has had recently.

Unplaced both starts in points. Ran twice in points last winter, showed a bit but will probably need to pick up experience. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (8/11 +64%) Chosen Witness |
8/11(+64%) | (5) Chosen Witness 8/11, Useful winner at 18f in bumpers. 16/1, good fourth of 9 in bumper at Punchestown (16.2f, good to soft). Off 6 months. Makes hurdles debut for top yard and will take some stopping if taking to this discipline. Highly tried after 10l Limerick bumper win, should feature at this level on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (17/2 -6%) Clodders Dream |
17/2(-6%) | (6) Clodders Dream 17/2, Bit below form fourth of 8 in novice hurdle at Limerick (19f, soft, 4/1). Off 7 months but represents excellent yard. In the frame in four of his five starts over hurdles, needs to jump more fluently. |

13th (14) (150/1 -200%) The Nagger Reidy |
150/1(-200%) | (14) The Nagger Reidy 150/1, Sixth of 13 in novice hurdle at Sligo (20f, soft, 16/1) on NH debut 16 days ago. Blundered at the third and made lesser error two out when unplaced on his debut at Sligo. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MAHON'S WAY was a 360,000-pound purchase following last November's point-to-point win and ran well on bumper debut in March. He was pushed out to win on debut for trainer Denis Hogan at Lisronagh and subsequently ran well behind a high-class winner at Naas, with the other principal beaten horses possessing ability. Stepping up in distance could also suit. Chosen Witness is a big galloper and while outclassed in graded bumpers last term, ran well enough behind another high-class winner at Punchestown and should also be suited by this distance. Ataboycharlie showed promise on Galway debut and while he contests a stronger maiden, can progress. Spread Boss Ted had good bumper form is 2022 but is best watched on reappearance following 469 days off. Experienced Clodders Dream needs to improve to win. Chigorin ran well on debut for Pat Doyle at Knockanard but is stable second string, while All For Rachel runs in a first-time tongue-tie.
Willie Mullins unleashes a couple of well-above average bumper performers in CHOSEN WITNESS and Spread Boss Ted, with marginal preference for the former unless the market strongly suggests otherwise. Mahon's Way could be best of the rest.
The Willie Mullins-trained CHOSEN WITNESS took part in top bumpers after a 10l win at Limerick and could make a smart novice

3rd (1) (5/1 +0%) Classic Anthem |
5/1(+0%) | (1) Classic Anthem 5/1, Expensive recruit from the Irish pointing field who shaped well on his hurdling debut when second of 11 in novice (7/2) at Kempton (16f, good to soft) 6 months ago. |PU| (2) (200/1 +0%) Crookbarrow |
200/1(+0%) | (2) Crookbarrow 200/1, Well held sole start in bumpers and was completing for the first time in three runs over hurdles when seventh of eight at Plumpton (2m) 20 days ago. Needs to build on it in retained cheekpieces. Second in a point bumper but he has not accomplished much in his four runs under rules. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having won a point-to-point before making a successful debut under Rules in a Ffos Las bumper in March, SOUTHOFTHEBORDER has the potential to flourish under the tutelage of Nicky Henderson. Sure to have been well schooled for his hurdling debut, another bold showing is expected from the son of Leading Light. Impact Du Bonheur, who landed a bumper in France before joining Paul Nicholls, is another to consider, while Classic Anthem completes the shortlist.
The market should reveal plenty here but Nicky Henderson's SOUTHOFTHEBORDER is taken to retain his unbeaten record in points/bumpers and make a winning start over timber. Classic Anthem is feared most on the back of his promising hurdling bow at Kempton, although ex-French recruits Impact du Bonheur and Stenatee both bring potential and need considering too, especially if the betting vibes are positive.
Preference is for SOUTHOFTHEBORDER, who seemed have loads of scope when he won at Ffos Las, with Spirits Bay second on the list.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PYFFO was no match for a useful sort at Ludlow last month but the son of Shantou ought to improve for that initial jumping experience and he is taken to go one better. The Jukebox Man won a bumper here in April and makes plenty of appeal now sent over timber, along with Definite Call, who landed a point-to-point in May and is interesting on his debut under Rules.
PYFFO will have derived plenty from his opening hurdles effort at Ludlow a month ago and this bumper winner can take a step forward and get off the mark over obstacles. The Jukebox Man has made an excellent start to his career, winning twice from 3 outings and he's the obvious threat.
Promising THE JUKEBOX MAN is taken to follow up his spring bumper success at this venue. Pyffo is the chief threat on form.

7th (4) (33/1 -32%) Chinx Of Light |
33/1(-32%) | (4) Chinx Of Light 33/1, Off 13 months before fading fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20.3f, heavy, 11/1) 44 days ago. Can take a step forward now. Best form is over further and has a bit to prove on second start back from long absence. |

8th (5) (11/1 -38%) Ballybawn Belter |
11/1(-38%) | (5) Ballybawn Belter 11/1, 1 win from 2 runs this season. Easily landed 10-runner handicap hurdle (9/2) at Ballinrobe (21.8f, good to soft) 58 days ago. Considered. Career-best at Ballinrobe last time; yet to win on soft but has to be respected. |

9th (6) (16/1 -167%) Common Practice |

10th (7) (33/1 -32%) Drop The Anchor |
33/1(-32%) | (7) Drop The Anchor 33/1, 33/1, twelfth of 16 in handicap at this course (16.1f, heavy) 28 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Useful hurdler, so can't be discounted. Picked up some big pots in his career but seems regressive although handicapper relenting. |

11th (14) (50/1 -213%) Cozone |
50/1(-213%) | (14) Cozone 50/1, 40/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Dundalk (12f) 30 days ago, unsuited by way race developed. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Booking of Gainford a plus so should give a good account. Listowel win franked since and a player despite 12lb rise if handling softer ground. |

12th (8) (10/3 +45%) Thecompanysergeant |
10/3(+45%) | (8) Thecompanysergeant 10/3, Sole run for Adrian Brendan Joyce when good fourth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft, 6/1) 51 days ago. Back up in trip and firmly in the picture off a handy-looking mark. Still scope for improvement but needs it in a competitive handicap such as this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (22/1 -83%) Rebel Gold |
22/1(-83%) | (13) Rebel Gold 22/1, Career best when winning 6-runner Newlands Chase at this course (16f, good to soft, 5/2) by neck from Coeur Sublime, digging deep. Off 8 months. Switches from chase to hurdles and not dismissed. Much better chaser last term; interesting on comeback off 25lb lower hurdles mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (1) (16/1 +0%) Summerville Boy |
16/1(+0%) | (1) Summerville Boy 16/1, Smart hurdler. Creditable 9¾ lengths sixth of 9 to Klassical Dream in Champion Stayers' Hurdle at Punchestown (23.6f, good to soft). Off 6 months. Trainer going well. Much respected on his handicap hurdle debut. Drop in trip not in his favour on seasonal debut and others preferred. |

Sort to bounce back. Fred Winter winner struggled at Fairyhouse against elders; unproven over this far. |

16th (17) (22/1 -38%) Must Meet Cecil |
22/1(-38%) | (17) Must Meet Cecil 22/1, 3 wins from 8 runs this season, battling well when landing 9-runner handicap hurdle (7/1) at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) 36 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Fairyhouse winner progressive but effectively 10lb higher here so big ask. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (10) (66/1 -65%) Ballywilliam Boy |
66/1(-65%) | (10) Ballywilliam Boy 66/1, Course winner. Latest win in hurdle at Galway in October 2021. Creditable sixth of 24 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (24f, good to soft, 40/1), finding little. Off 21 months so market can prove a good guide. Absent since respectable run in valuable Leopardstown handicap in February 2022. |

Blinkers back on with more needed. Front-runner will have to come on a ton for recent Limerick to feature at the finish. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
THECOMPANYSERGEANT handled heavy ground when winning a maiden at Navan last season and went on to be placed at Grade 2 level over this trip. Fourth in a valuable handicap at the Listowel festival, he'll be suited by a return to this distance and is on a nice racing weight. Firm Footings knuckled down well to beat a higher-rated rival in at Sligo and has been given a 5lb hike. He didn't see out this trip when sixth in the Martin Pipe but may be a stronger model now. Ballybawn Belter has won three times in handicap company this year and had plenty to spare when scoring over a longer trip at Ballinrobe. She's up 9lb for that and the ground will be more testing on this occasion which is not sure to suit.
Plenty are in with a shout. THECOMPANYSERGEANT starts out on a lenient mark for Shauna Larkin so is taken to build on his good Listowel fourth last time out and quickly resume winning ways. Lord Erskine is next on the list now reverted to this sphere on the back of a good Curragh third on the level. Gordon Elliott's trio Firm Footings, Chinx of Light and Jazzy Matty all need factoring in too in a highly competitive event.
Typically competitive and perhaps a locally-trained winner in GAOTH CHUIL whose recent Punchestown comeback second has been franked

1st (1) (9/2 -13%) Xcitations |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Xcitations 9/2, Upped his game further last term with victories at Doncaster and this C&D around the turn of the year. Mixed record after but possibly needed the run after 7 months off at Kempton 3 weeks ago. 9l win over C&D (soft) in January; considered off just 1lb higher today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 +50%) Western Zephyr |
5/2(+50%) | (3) Western Zephyr 5/2, Point/bumper winner who won 3 wins of his 6 starts over hurdles last season. Decent start over fences off what looked a stiff opening mark when third at Carlisle on return and entitled to build on that. Made a solid reappearance over hurdles last month and has a shout if adapting to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (20/1 -67%) Fast Buck |
20/1(-67%) | (4) Fast Buck 20/1, Took advantage of reduced mark when recording a first win over fences at Lingfield in December. Similar form when runner-up next 2 starts and last 2 runs 6 months apart probably best excused. Pulled up in April and tailed off facing a stiff task when he returned from wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (33/1 -175%) Give Me A Moment |
33/1(-175%) | (2) Give Me A Moment 33/1, Useful chaser who won 5 times during 2021/22 and outclassed the opposition in a brace of novice hurdles last summer. Built on comeback run when decent fourth back over fences at Worcester but disappointed at Uttoxeter when last seen in July. Good-ground specialist who did very well in spring/summer 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/4 +10%) Jetronic |
9/4(+10%) | (5) Jetronic 9/4, Fair form in a couple of juvenile hurdles and took a step forward on chasing debut when winning at Compiegne. Positive start for this yard when second of 4 in novice chase at Cheltenham (15.9f, good, 10/3) on return 16 days ago and needs considering off a fair opening mark. Tongue strap back on. 4yo; no match for the winner at Cheltenham (2m, good) but that was a solid British debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/4 -10%) In The Air |
11/4(-10%) | (6) In The Air 11/4, Dual juvenile hurdle winner in 2021/22 who got back to winning ways in a Fontwell handicap (19.2f) in May. Excellent start over fences when second at Huntingdon on return 2 weeks ago, clear of rest, and surely has more to offer as a chaser. Made his chase debut at Huntingdon 13 days ago, showing improved form in second of six. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
JETRONIC isn't the easiest to weigh up on his handicap bow after being brushed aside by the impressive My Mate Mozzie in a novice chase at Cheltenham. Nevertheless, Paul Nicholls' four-year-old receives a handy 8lb weight-for-age allowance which may be enough for him to land the spoils. In The Air performed with credit on his seasonal reappearance when runner-up at Huntingdon and is feared most, ahead of Western Zephyr.
IN THE AIR shaped well sent chasing after 6 months off when second at Huntingdon 2 weeks ago and it surely won't be long before he opens his account in this sphere. Jetronic made a positive start for this yard when runner-up at Cheltenham and is another to consider.
Jetronic and In The Air are the youngest in this and bring clear potential. However, XCITATIONS may prove better handicapped.

1st (5) (11/2 -38%) The Imposter |
11/2(-38%) | (5) The Imposter 11/2, Most progressive last season, winning 6 times, including over C&D on heavy. No surprise were he to pull out more improvement this term. One of 2 runners for his stable. Very progressive last term; shared the spoils with Ballydisco here in March; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (11/2 -38%) Balkardy |
11/2(-38%) | (7) Balkardy 11/2, In excellent form over fences in summer 2022 and made a promising return from a long absence when second of 8 at Newton Abbot (21.5f, heavy) 3 weeks ago. Put back up 4 lb but still of interest. Close second at Newton Abbot returned to hurdles; still favourably treated on chase form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (22/1 -193%) Ballymagroarty Boy |
22/1(-193%) | (1) Ballymagroarty Boy 22/1, Sole win came in 2018 but he ran several good races in defeat last season, including runner-up twice when last seen in April. Claims if ready to roll after a break. Consistent last term, runner-up to Ballydisco at Chepstow the final time; record is 1-29. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (16/1 -78%) Tzarmix |
16/1(-78%) | (4) Tzarmix 16/1, Ended his time with Sam Thomas with a 3m Chepstow novice win. Well-held last of 5 in 3m Southwell novice on return for new yard and now fitted with a tongue tie switched to a handicap. Something looked amiss on debut for new yard; now goes in tongue-tie; still unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (11/4 +61%) Coal Fire |
11/4(+61%) | (9) Coal Fire 11/4, Opened his account at Market Rasen (20.5f) in July and added to his tally over 26.5f at Newton Abbot last month. Creditable third over C&D in first-time cheekpieces (retained) since. Should give another good account. Consistent form since July includes two wins; creditable third over C&D most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/3 +45%) Ballydisco |
10/3(+45%) | (2) Ballydisco 10/3, Improved for switch to handicaps/step up in trip last season, winning in the mud over C&D in March and going in again at Chepstow (3m) in April. Has the potential for better again this time round. Dead-heated with The Imposter here in March; beat Ballymagroarty Boy at Chepstow last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (16/1 -14%) Blue Shark |
16/1(-14%) | (6) Blue Shark 16/1, Highly progressive last season but returned from 4 months off to finish a remote last of 8 at Kempton 3 weeks ago. Needs to leave that behind now stepping up to 3m for the first time. Form dipped sharply with dismal efforts the last twice; opposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (6/1 +0%) Mr Muldoon |
6/1(+0%) | (3) Mr Muldoon 6/1, Six wins from 21 NH runs. 12/1, creditable third of 10 in handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot (21.5f, soft) on reappearance 41 days ago. Respected with that behind him. Ran respectably on reappearance but isn't guaranteed to build on that effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (11/1 +8%) Honey I'm Good |
11/1(+8%) | (8) Honey I'm Good 11/1, Notched 3 chase wins between April and July. Sound effort from her lower hurdle mark when second over 26.5f at Newton Abbot in September but needs to shrug off a lesser run at Ludlow since. 0-4 over hurdles but ran respectably at Newton Abbot on penultimate attempt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Imposter went up a total of 36lb when recording six victories during his last campaign and the six-year-old cannot be underestimated on his return to action. However, fellow last-time-out winner BALLYDISCO also boasts a progressive profile and the son of Presenting is fancied to pick up where he left off following his Chepstow success in April. Balkardy and Ballymagroarty Boy also enter calculations.
This looks competitive. BALKARDY is given a chance to build on his encouraging comeback run at Newton Abbot and provide Evan Williams with a third win in this race since 2017. Like many from the Peter Bowen stable Coal Fire has enjoyed a good spell this season and is second choice ahead of Mr Muldoon.
The rate of progress shown by THE IMPOSTER last term earns him the vote. Ballydisco is feared most.

1st (4) (5/6 -14%) Dinoblue |
5/6(-14%) | (4) Dinoblue 5/6, Produced a really smart performance when rounding of an excellent first campaign over fences with a win in a 2m handicap at the Punchestown Festival in April. That suggests she's more than capable of winning at Graded level. Progressed well in handicaps in the spring; nicely treated by the race conditions here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/1 +29%) Fil Dor |
5/1(+29%) | (1) Fil Dor 5/1, Smart hurdler/chaser. Ended last season on a low note and the chances are even a return to his very best won't be quite good enough here. Back chasing on seasonal return facing stiff task against some more seasoned rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (200/1 -100%) Hope Des Blins |
200/1(-100%) | (5) Hope Des Blins 200/1, Fair chaser. Latest win in chase at Sligo in September. 9/2, fifth of 7 in handicap chase at Limerick (19f, heavy) 21 days ago. Front-runner the likely pace angle here but not good enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (25/1 +0%) Panda Boy |
25/1(+0%) | (2) Panda Boy 25/1, Useful chaser. 11/4, 18¾ lengths fourth of 5 to Minella Indo in Grade 3 chase at Punchestown (23.3f, good to soft) on reappearance 32 days ago. Significantly down in trip. Something to find. Very useful staying handicapper but could be taken off his feet back markedly in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (15/8 -7%) Sir Gerhard |
15/8(-7%) | (3) Sir Gerhard 15/8, Leading novice hurdler of 2021/22 campaign and a smart novice chase, finishing second in a Fairyhouse Grade 1 in April. Pulled up at Punchestown later that month but can bounce back and provide the chief threat to his stablemate. Yet to convince in jumping and drops in trip for seasonal return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
DINOBLUE is best in at the weights and well suited by this trip. Late mistakes contributed to a defeat when favourite in the Grand Annual but the six-year-old made amends in valuable handicaps at Fairyhouse and Punchestown afterwards. Successful first time out in her two previous campaigns, she can pick up where she left off last term. Dual Cheltenham festival winner Sir Gerhard was runner-up at Grade 1 level at Fairyhouse in April which was by far his best effort in his novice chase campaign. He looked far from a natural over fences in his other outings, though, and this trip is short of his best. Fil Dor made a winning start in this discipline at Navan a year ago but was switched back to hurdles after a couple of disappointing runs at Leopardstown. If he gets his jumping together, he has the ability to contend.
Willie Mullins should dominate this. The level DINOBLUE achieved when landing a well-contested handicap at the Punchestown Festival in April suggests she can make her mark in Graded company this season and she's preferred to Sir Gerhard.
Willie Mullins could well dominate, with DINOBLUE getting valuable weight from her stablemate Sir Gerhard and the likely winner

1st (7) (10/3 +39%) Arqoob |
10/3(+39%) | (7) Arqoob 10/3, Useful handicapper on the level for William Jarvis. Has made a positive start over hurdle too, landing Huntingdon novice and good Sandown handicap third in the spring. Fit from the Flat and shaped quite nicely back with Lucy Wadham when third at Plumpton 3 weeks ago. Fit off the Flat when a 5l third at Plumpton three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/1 +22%) Kaleb |
7/1(+22%) | (3) Kaleb 7/1, Novice season tailed off quite badly but right back on song when finding only one too good on last month's reappearance at Plumpton back at 2m. Needs to travel with a bit more zest in what looks a slightly stronger race. Pleasing second on Plumpton return and a stiffer stamina test here won't faze him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (25/1 -127%) Iontach Cheval |
25/1(-127%) | (8) Iontach Cheval 25/1, Bumper/hurdles winner who recorded a career best when making a successful reappearance at Warwick a year ago. Labouring a long way out from his revised mark at Cheltenham a month later and off the track since, but fresh could be the time to catch him. Low-mileage 7yo who has won after a break in the past and is not handicapped out of it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (22/1 -38%) Totterdown |
22/1(-38%) | (4) Totterdown 22/1, Back with former yard and won 6-runner handicap after 21 months off at Leicester in November, responding well. Brushed aside in a deeper race at Chepstow 3 months later but stepped up on that when fifth in 8-runner event at Newbury when last seen in March. Not getting any younger but capable fresh. Record when fresh heightens interest but he's by some way the oldest of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/1 -10%) Aurigny Mill |
11/1(-10%) | (5) Aurigny Mill 11/1, Left previous efforts well behind to get off the mark in 14-runner novice at Taunton in March. Sound second under a penalty over same C&D a month later and now has attentions switched to handicaps. Beaten by Iliko D'Olivate in his final novice but a 7lb pull makes it interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (6/1 -140%) Legendary Day |
6/1(-140%) | (9) Legendary Day 6/1, Made winning start on yard/hurdles bow in a novice a year ago and has won 4 times on the level since. Looks very well treated back over hurdles so the one to beat with Hughes booked. Lightly raced hurdler who might be on a good mark given his useful Flat ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (20/1 -67%) Galahad Threepwood |
20/1(-67%) | (6) Galahad Threepwood 20/1, Fairly useful winner on the Flat for Mick Channon who opened his account over hurdles in a 19.4f Doncaster handicap in March. Fell heavily at Warwick next time and might have been amiss to back out of things so swiftly at Cheltenham on final outing. Flat background and questionable how much improvement he has in him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (4/1 +0%) Iliko D'olivate |
4/1(+0%) | (2) Iliko D'olivate 4/1, Fair form in 2 starts on the Flat and built on his hurdles debut second at Compiegne when going one better in ready fashion at Taunton in January. Back on song returned to a right-handed track when doubling tally at Taunton in April and he's in top hands ahead of this return/handicap debut. Dual novice winner; further progress needed to defy this mark on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (4/1 +56%) Fourofakind |
4/1(+56%) | (10) Fourofakind 4/1, Fairly useful form on the Flat in Ireland and has made a sound start to his hurdle career for new stable, placed twice before landing the odds at Haydock in March. Low-key start to handicap career a month later, not looking an easy ride on either occasion. Headgear removed for reappearance. Ex-Flat; still unexposed as a hurdler (maiden winner) and returns from wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (12/1 -9%) Jupiter Du Gite |
12/1(-9%) | (1) Jupiter Du Gite 12/1, Caused a major upset when making all on British/hurdles debut at Newbury in December but has proved far too headstrong since. Switches to a handicap with hood back on and hopes pinned on him calming down. Talented but very headstrong and will need to give himself a chance by settling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
LEGENDARY DAY has found some improvement on the Flat since having cheekpieces reapplied and that headgear may help as the five-year-old bids to gain a second success in this sphere. Iliko D'olivate regained the winning thread when making all at Taunton in April and isn't taken lightly on his seasonal/handicap bow. He may give the selection most to think about, although Arqoob also warrants consideration.
LEGENDARY DAY stood up well to an aggressive campaign on the level and the assessor may have underestimated him in this sphere. With conditions to suit, he's the most persuasive candidate, for all Arqoob and Ilko d'Olivate are interesting contenders.
Most have chances but LEGENDARY DAY (nap) is a useful Flat horse who should be on a good mark and these conditions won't trouble him.

10/3(+56%) | (2) Brulure Noire 10/3, Hurdles winner in Ireland who opened account over fences in this race in 2022. After a couple of below-par efforts, back on track when third at Chepstow in April and he's now 2 lb below last year's winning mark. Enters calculations. Won this race off 2lb higher on reappearance last term; interesting back here. |

2nd (8) (66/1 -136%) No Quarter Asked |
66/1(-136%) | (8) No Quarter Asked 66/1, Sole win came in handicap chase at this course (19.4f) in June 2021. After 5 months off, shaped as if needing the run on first start since leaving Peter Bowen when fourth of 7 back over hurdles at Worcester in June last year. Off further 16 months since. Sole win came in a weak race; absent for 17 months; best watched. |

3rd (3) (9/4 +44%) Good Friday Fairy |
9/4(+44%) | (3) Good Friday Fairy 9/4, Steadily progressive over hurdles, getting off the mark at Chepstow in April and probably should have followed up when second in handicap here the following month, headed close home having forced the pace. One to note on chase debut. Still unexposed but Irish point form suggests a flawless round isn't guaranteed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (20/1 -67%) Robins Field |
20/1(-67%) | (5) Robins Field 20/1, Has been getting the hang of things back over fences having had another wind op, finishing second again in handicap at Hexham when last seen in May. Still looking for his first win, though, so will need to find more on his return. Threatening to win an ordinary race, having finished a clear second the last twice. |

5th (7) (7/4 +13%) Ideallko |
7/4(+13%) | (7) Ideallko 7/4, Maiden hurdler but has shown much improved form over fences, scoring in good style at this C&D in October. Defied a penalty at Plumpton (19.8f) 8 days later, despite having been short of room end of the back straight, and he can go on to land the hat-trick. Bids for a hat-trick, having won similar events at this course and Plumpton last month. |

6th (9) (25/1 -25%) Ocean's Of Money |
25/1(-25%) | (9) Ocean's Of Money 25/1, Remains a maiden and has finished no better than mid-division in 4 starts over fences this season, sixth of 9 in handicap at Worcester (20f) in August. Has had a wind op since, but looks to be up against it from out of the weights once more. Largely poor form for current yard; drop in trip needs to have major effect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (17/2 -70%) Bells Of Stamford |
17/2(-70%) | (4) Bells Of Stamford 17/2, Made the frame on first 2 starts over fences before showing improvement for a wind op/fitting of tongue strap to score at Warwick (20f) in February. 3 lengths down in second when falling at the last at Chepstow on his latest outing, so he could still have more to offer. Had wind surgery prior to ending last season in good form; not fully exposed. |

16/1(-33%) | (6) Jukebox D'eddy 16/1, Took a step forward over hurdles when going close at Wetherby on handicap debut in March. However, not in the same form next 2 starts and improvement required now that his attention is turned to the larger obstacles. Best hurdles effort when second at Wetherby in March; chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
IDEALLKO still appears to be ahead of the handicapper given how quickly he asserted his authority when completing a double at Plumpton in October. Evan Williams' charge is hard to oppose off just a 6lb higher mark. Good Friday Fairy may serve the selection with the most resistance on his chasing bow having lost little in defeat when runner-up over hurdles at this venue in May. Bells Of Stamford also warrants a second look, despite this trip looking shorter than ideal.
IDEALLKO has quickly made up into a better chaser than hurdler, overcoming trouble-in-running when making it back-to-back wins at Plumpton 20 days ago, and he can continue his progress to score again. Good Friday Fairy improved with each of his starts over hurdles and could be the main danger on his chase debut, ahead of Brulure Noire.
Last year's winner BRULURE NOIRE (nap) is preferred. Hat-trick seeker Ideallko is feared most.

1st (5) (7/4 +0%) Grangeclare West |
7/4(+0%) | (5) Grangeclare West 7/4, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Useful winner at 20f over hurdles. Career best when winning 9-runner minor event hurdle at Punchestown (19.8f, good to soft, 6/4), going clear. Has the credentials to make a quality chaser, so fancied to make a successful start in this sphere. Ended last season on a high hurdling; should make at least as a good a chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/2 +31%) Heart Wood |
11/2(+31%) | (6) Heart Wood 11/2, Promising sort. 4/1, first run since leaving P. & C. Peltier when second of 11 in novice chase at Navan (17f, soft) on IRE NH debut, clear of rest. Off 12 months. Respected. Absent a year since Navan promise; Drinmore entry so clearly held in some regard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/10 -10%) Corbetts Cross |
11/10(-10%) | (2) Corbetts Cross 11/10, Useful hurdler. 9/4, running well ran out in Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle (Spa) at Cheltenham (24f, good to soft) 8 months ago. Point winner who should take to this discipline, so solid claims. Smart novice hurdler last term; points' winner and potentially high-class novice chaser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (14/1 -40%) Franciscan Rock |
14/1(-40%) | (4) Franciscan Rock 14/1, Useful chaser. Fell in novice chase at Gowran (20f, heavy, 9/2) on debut over fences 43 days ago looking sure to be placed. Tongue strap on 1st time. Shortlist material. Needs to jump better than at Gowran, could feature if doing so. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (14/1 +13%) So Des Flos |
14/1(+13%) | (9) So Des Flos 14/1, Promising sort. Winner in hurdle at Limerick in March. Fourth of 8 in novice chase (13/2) at Fairyhouse (21.5f, soft) on debut over fences 36 days ago. Should progress, so not a forlorn hope. Better for recent chase debut but this looks a stronger beginners' chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (66/1 -100%) Snake Oil |
66/1(-100%) | (8) Snake Oil 66/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Fairly useful winner at 20f over hurdles. 15/2, seventh of 9 in novice chase at Galway (18.2f, heavy) 15 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Should improve. Delicate 8yo hard to fancy on tame recent Galway run; tongue tie fitted. |

7th (3) (28/1 -12%) Daily Present |
28/1(-12%) | (3) Daily Present 28/1, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Useful winner at 22f over hurdles. 15/2, fourth of 6 in novice chase at Galway (22.5f, heavy) on debut over fences 14 days ago. Has a bit to prove. Better for recent chasing debut and comeback run but likely still best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (200/1 -33%) Backintheroom |
200/1(-33%) | (1) Backintheroom 200/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Sixth of 10 in novice chase at Limerick (19f, heavy, 25/1) 21 days ago, considerately handled. Open to progress. Three attempts chasing underwhelming; likely of more interest when tackling handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (250/1 +0%) Howishedizzy |
250/1(+0%) | (7) Howishedizzy 250/1, Twice-raced maiden. Eleventh of 14 in novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (19.8f, good, 50/1). Off over 2 years. Makes chase debut. Nothing in maiden hurdles; long absent and can only be watched on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CORBETTS CROSS went up through the ranks over hurdles last term and landed a Grade 2 contest at this venue in February. Favourite for the Albert Bartlett the following month, he was in contention when running out at the last. The six-year-old is a winning point-to-pointer and is an exciting prospect as a novice chaser. Grangeclare West also has a point-to-point win to his name and impressed a couple of times over hurdles last season, including on his return from a long absence at Navan. Trip and ground will suit and he's another notable chase debutant. Heart Wood, a very useful juvenile hurdler in France, was runner-up on chase debut in a hot contest at Navan almost exactly a year ago. Not seen since then, his record when fresh is encouraging and it will be interesting to see how he fares trying this distance for the first time.
Ex-pointers GRANGECLARE WEST and Corbetts Cross were both above average over hurdles and appeal as interesting newcomers to this sphere. Preference is for the former, who has always looked the type to do much better in this sphere. Heart Wood is the pick of the remainder.
A good-class beginners chase in which the 148-rated hurdler CORBETTS CROSS is taken to make a winning start over fences

1st (4) (5/4 +50%) Good Boy Bobby |
5/4(+50%) | (4) Good Boy Bobby 5/4, Successful twice at Wetherby during 2021/22 campaign, including the Rowland Meyrick, and first win since when capitalised on a falling mark in veterans race at Chepstow on return last month, leading again dying strides. Remains of interest in these events. Overcame a late mistake to win at Chepstow and just 3lb higher for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (10/1 +17%) De Rasher Counter |
10/1(+17%) | (2) De Rasher Counter 10/1, Landed Ladbrokes Trophy in 2019 and showed he retains ability late last year, runner-up in veterans' company at Warwick (3m). Has struggled since, however, including on return. Headgear now applied. Laboured return at Chepstow when behind two of these; opposable after that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (15/2 -36%) Cyclop |
15/2(-36%) | (5) Cyclop 15/2, Rattled off a quick-fire hat-trick of veterans' handicaps last spring. Failed to complete next 2 starts but produced a promising comeback display at Perth and built on that when 2¼ lengths third of 9 to Good Boy Bobby at Chepstow (23.6f, good to soft) 30 days ago. 3 lb better off with winner here. Stays all day and wouldn't want this to turn tactical, but hard to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/1 -43%) Larry |
5/1(-43%) | (3) Larry 5/1, Decent strike rate over the years and jumped much better than usual when winning at Ascot on last season's return. Decent placed efforts last 2 starts in similar events in the spring so not taken lightly after 7 months off. Started last season in good form and ended it well; dual course winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (7/1 -56%) Lord Du Mesnil |
7/1(-56%) | (1) Lord Du Mesnil 7/1, None too reliable these days but he's smart when on-song and produced 3 good runner-up efforts last season. Can go well fresh and capable of making his presence felt. Best at Haydock but he was runner-up three times elsewhere last season; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (5/1 +69%) Elegant Escape |
5/1(+69%) | (6) Elegant Escape 5/1, One-time very smart chaser but has lost his way. Plenty to prove on return. Best days behind him but handicapped accordingly and not discounted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Good Boy Bobby may prove popular here after an all-out success at Chepstow last month, but he was only a little over two lengths ahead of CYCLOP that day and might struggle to confirm the form on 3lb worse terms. Badly hampered that day by a faller, the selection did remarkably well to finish as close as he did and he could strike with a bit more luck in running. Larry could prove best of the rest.
GOOD BOY BOBBY capitalised on a falling mark on his first go in a veterans event at Chepstow on return last month and should go well again. Cyclop was only 2¼ lengths behind the selection that day and is 3 lb better off with him now, so rates the main threat ahead of Lord du Mesnil.
It could pay to chance a trouble-free round of jumping from LARRY who is very capable off this mark when it all comes together.

5/2(+29%) | (6) Hill Of Tara 5/2, From a good jumping family but little to get excited about so far. Switches to a handicap on reappearance for yard among the winners so one to monitor in the betting. May do much better now qualified for a mark; stable in great form; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/2 +64%) Mumbles |
5/2(+64%) | (5) Mumbles 5/2, Hit the frame both starts in handicaps at this venue over 23.9f 5 months apart. Mark looks very fair but drop back in trip a concern for this thorough-looking stayer. Open to improvement back down in distance; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 -11%) Captain Claude |
10/3(-11%) | (4) Captain Claude 10/3, Readily got off the mark over hurdles in 7-runner handicap at Fontwell (19.2f, soft) in March and ran a cracker in defeat from 10 lb higher at Plumpton the following month. Likely has more to offer this term. Likely player provided he continues in good form with blinkers removed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (20/1 -567%) State Of Honor |
20/1(-567%) | (3) State Of Honor 20/1, Fair bumper performer in Ireland and while she didn't show much in 3 qualifying runs over hurdles, the race was in the bag when she crashed out at the final flight on her handicap debut at Hereford in February. Absent since but will be a danger to all if fully tuned-up. Looked the likely winner when final-flight faller at Hereford on last appearance. |

5th (7) (16/1 +0%) Twp Stori |

6th (9) (22/1 +12%) Dancing Dani |

7th (2) (9/2 +44%) Herakles Westwood |
9/2(+44%) | (2) Herakles Westwood 9/2, First worthwhile form over hurdles when fourth of 11 in novice hurdle at Wincanton in January. Off since but scope to do better now handicapping based on his bumper form. Opening mark looks very workable judged on bumper form; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (33/1 -32%) Deal Em High |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Deal Em High 33/1, Bumper winner who was runner-up in a 2m course maiden in May and matched that when fourth at Stratford in August. Dropped away tamely at Plumpton since so bounce back called for. Hurdles form is far from consistent; opposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (66/1 -500%) No Mean Feat |
66/1(-500%) | (1) No Mean Feat 66/1, Pulled up sole start in points and just poor form to date under Rules. Opening mark demands a lot more. Bare form suggests he's not particularly well treated off top weight. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MUMBLES seems likely to make a bold attempt to put his race fitness to good use after coming home fifth over three miles here last month. The drop in trip looks sure to suit and he races off the same mark here, which might give him the edge over Captain Claude, who was second over further at Plumpton off 1lb lower in April but has not been seen since. Hill Of Tara may get up for third with his stable in great form.
Fitness is unlikely to be an issue for CAPTAIN CLAUDE given the yard he represents and as a result he can pick up where he left off in the spring. State of Honor is another likely to do better this term, with Mumbles likely to be plugging on back in distance.
The most appealing contenders are the very interesting handicap debutants HERAKLES WESTWOOD and Hill Of Tara.

28/1(-75%) | (3) Barrow Princess 28/1, Shirocco mare. Half-sister to 4 winners, including bumper winner/fair hurdler Goaheadmakemyday and fair hurdler Therellalwaysbeone. The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SHAVING is the choice of Patrick Mullins and the daughter of Spanish Moon would be a topical winner after her high-profile half-brother Allaho made a winning return to action earlier in the week. The five-year-old is also a sister to Shanning who won over 1m2f in France before scoring three times over hurdles for the Mullins yard. Stablemate Fleur Au Fusil merits respect as a half-sister to smart hurdles Grand Sancy and useful bumper and hurdles winner Keskonrisk. Oliver McKiernan has done well with the family of Hollies Choice who cost 50,000 euros at the Derby Sale and any market support would be noteworthy.
SHAVING is in excellent hands and makes plenty of appeal on pedigree, so she's fancied to make a successful debut at the possible expense of her stablemate Fleur Au Fusil, who also has the potential to be above average. East Side is the clear pick of those with experience.
All eyes here will be on Allaho's half-sister SHAVING in a bumper which may not take too much winning

7th (5) (40/1 -21%) Streamsforth Lad |
40/1(-21%) | (5) Streamsforth Lad 40/1, Showed something to work on when third at Wetherby first time out but failed to build on it at Warwick next time and has plenty to find returning from 6 months off. The first (Wetherby third) of his two efforts this March/April earns him a second look. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Diamond Koda almost pulled off a 50/1 shock when runner-up at Market Rasen in May, though the gut feeling is that he may have to settle for a place again. Easy point-to-point winner Martin Plage ran well when third at Cheltenham last month and he may prove the biggest danger to exciting newcomer TOUQUET. The Paul Nicholls-trained Kapgarde gelding cost 185,000 euros last year and is held in high regard by his handler. He is related to plenty of winners in France.
TOUQUET is well bred and cost plenty as a store, so he may well be able to make a successful start for all that Martin Plage is of interest after a positive Rules debut at Cheltenham. Diamond Koda is another one to consider.
Nicholls-trained Touquet has to be given great respect but MARTIN PLAGE's Cheltenham third earns the vote.

3rd (3) (9/1 +0%) Calli Black |
9/1(+0%) | (3) Calli Black 9/1, £85,000 5-y-o, Califet mare. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler Earth Company. Dam (h106), bumper winner, half-sister to useful hurdler (stayed 2½m) Duhallow Gesture. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Jan 15). Worth a market check. Irish point winner; joined new yard for £85,000; out of a bumper scorer; could go well. |

4th (7) (2/1 +50%) Susie Styler |
2/1(+50%) | (7) Susie Styler 2/1, £100,000 5-y-o, Milan mare. Closely related to a winner, and half-sister to 3 winners, including smart hurdler/chaser Threeunderthrufive, stays 4m, and useful chaser Benruben. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Apr 9). Notable Rules debutant. Irish point winner; joined new yard for £100,000; siblings include four bumper scorers. |

5th (5) (2/1 -41%) Jalila Moriviere |
2/1(-41%) | (5) Jalila Moriviere 2/1, Joshua Tree filly. Dam unraced sister to French hurdler (2m/2¼m winner) Contesse Moriviere and French chaser (19f winner) Altesse Moriviere. One to note on debut. French pedigree; sole runner on the card for Paul Nicholls; respected debutante. |

6th (8) (40/1 +20%) Walkinthecotswolds |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Walkinthecotswolds 40/1, Big price and no promise at Cheltenham on debut 6 months ago. Easily opposed. Soundly beaten at Cheltenham in April; bred to do better over jumps later on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (28/1 -12%) Jenner Park |
28/1(-12%) | (6) Jenner Park 28/1, Third in a point bumper but failed to beat a rival on Rules debut, so hard to fancy. Showed promise in point bumper; came up well short on the switch to rules. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Jalila Moriviere deserves a mention on her racecourse debut for Paul Nicholls, but she may have to settle for a place against experienced rivals. Bluella Bresil showed plenty of promise when second on her sole start at Fontwell and she can go close, but THE GAMBLER might have the edge. A point-to-point winner, the daughter of Workforce made a winning debut under Rules at Market Rasen despite pulling hard and being badly hampered.
SUSIE STYLER cost six figures on the back of a point win and represents a stable with a solid record in this sphere, so he takes marginal preference over Jalila Moriviere, who represents top connections. Bluella Bresil has the best bumper form on show and should also be considered.
The vote goes to interesting rules debutante SUSIE STYLER, ahead of Jalila Moriviere and Bluella Bresil.
Ths is the racecard key.
