12:20 Fontwell Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

AUTHENTIC LEGACY had Jubilant (third) a long way behind when occupying the runner-up berth over 2m at Fakenham last month and it's hard to see that form being overturned. The four-year-old should have more to offer on only his third start over hurdles and looks the one to beat. Gooloogong showed some ability to make the frame over C&D and he should give a good account.

AUTHENTIC LEGACY has found just one too good on both his hurdling runs thus far and looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to go one better now. Gooloogong rates much the biggest threat on the back of his recent C&D third, with Jubilant another to consider if building on his Fakenham third.

Former Ballydoyle inmate GOOLOOGONG got himself back on track when chasing home the right horses here last week.

12:55 Fontwell Handicap Chase (Class 5) 22f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

WEST ORCHARD readily took care of his nearest rival by over nine lengths here last week and is only 8lb higher for that triumph. Joe Tizzard's seven-year-old shouldn't have any issues with the step back up in distance and can continue his fine form. Lightonthewing, who was a two-length victor at Newton Abbot two starts ago, was still going well when falling next time at the same venue and has to be respected. Joe Cotton can pick up any pieces.

JOE COTTON was a tad unfortunate to bump into such a progressive one at Stratford on his return and can go one better. West Orchard looks a reformed character and is the obvious threat.

Preferred is MISTER UPTON who looked a different horse earlier this year when sent over fences and could have better days ahead of him.

13:10 Cheltenham Maiden Hurdle (Class 2) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Useful dual purpose performer WHIMSY has flashes of smart form over hurdles and she returned to hurdling with an admirable second over 2m at Galway last month. That effort should have teed her up perfectly for a tilt at this, and she looks the one to side with. The unexposed Ace Of Spades just failed to get up when finishing runner-up over an extended 2m2f at Exeter last time and another prominent showing is forecast. Country Park completes the shortlist.

ACE OF SPADES was quick to match his useful bumper form in this sphere when runner-up at Exeter last month and is fancied to build on it and go one better now. Irish challenger Whimsy comes here in great nick though so should ensure Dan Skelton's good prospect doesn't have things all his own way. Hurdling debutants Unleash The Beast and Maghlaak also bring potential to this intriguing maiden.

The mare WHIMSY has a consistent profile over hurdles and this three-time Flat winner is taken to get off the mark over jumps.

13:30 Fontwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Goodwin was well held on his chase debut at Aintree, but he was victorious in two of his four starts in novice company in this sphere and could easily bounce back. However, the vote goes to HECOULDBETHEONE, who recorded a double at this venue before being well beaten when sent off favourite in a stronger event at Market Rasen. The drop in grade and return to this track might see him put that performance well behind him. Kado De Joie completes the shortlist.

HECOULDBETHEONE is taken to resume his progression for the James Owen yard back from a break at a venue which suits. Chris Gordon has got back among the winners in the last couple of weeks and Goodwin might leave a disappointing chase reappearance behind and provide the chief threat ahead of Nicky Henderson 4-y-o Kado de Joie.

A tight race. LUNA EFFECT is interesting now switched to handicaps after a good novice run and is preferred to Goodwin.

13:45 Cheltenham Handicap Chase (Class 3) 20f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

PEAKY BOY (first) got the better of Leader In The Park (fourth) when the pair met over hurdles here in April, and that duo look the two key protagonists in this contest. The former is preferred as he is two from two over flights and connections would be disappointed if a mark of 132 wound up being his ceiling over fences, given this 240,000-pound gelding is a point-to-point winner. Guard Your Dreams and Westerninthepark can also make their presence felt.

Market confidence behind either of the chase debutants would look significant but PRIMOZ marked himself out as one to keep firmly on side when making a winning chase debut at Wetherby last month. Value for much more than the bare margins would imply, he boasts plenty of untapped potential and could be the way to go up in trip. Peaky Boy was 2-2 over hurdles and needs factoring in, as do Olly Murphy's impressive Stratford scorer Westerninthepark and low-mileage Leader In The Park.

Preference is for PRIMOZ, who impressed on last month's chase debut at Wetherby and that form has been franked.

14:05 Fontwell Handicap Chase (Class 3) 28f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Musical Slave returned to winning ways over 3m2f here last month and the handicapper might have been kind to only put him up 3lb for that victory. Even so, RIVER TYNE makes slightly more appeal. Nick Gifford's nine-year-old just prevailed by the smallest of margins at Plumpton on her latest outing and could improve on her first attempt over this longer trip. She can record a second course victory, while Whydah Gally is worth a second look.

GLIMPSE OF GALA has shown enough in her 2 starts over fences a year apart to suggest she can be very competitive off her current mark, especially now upped in trip. Roll With It and Hauraki Gulf head the dangers.

The intriguing one is GLIMPSE OF GALA (nap) who held her own in a good mares' chase over 2m4f last time. She needs further than that.

14:20 Cheltenham Handicap Chase (Class 2) 16f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

There was little to separate Calico (first) and MATATA (second) when the pair met over C&D last month, and the latter gets the nod to reverse that form. Nigel Twiston-Davies' prominent racer is very smart on his day and, in this small field off 1lb better terms with Dan Skelton's charge, he gets the vote to dominate proceedings. A winner over 2m at Perth on his final start last term, Gunsight Ridge is respected most of the remainder.

CALICO and Matata fought out a good finish over C&D last month and could hold sway once more, with Dan Skelton's 8-y-o again taken to come out on top. Olly Murphy's consistent Gunsight Ridge needs considering too though on his return after breathing surgery.

With further improvement plausible, second-season chaser MATATA is taken to reverse C&D placings with Calico.

QUANTOCK HILLS only found a subsequent winner too good on his UK bow at Wetherby and he might take a big step forward from that effort. Warren Greatrex's juvenile sports a first-time hood and looks difficult to oppose against this level of opposition. Fine Point improved on his fourth at Sedgefield to fill the runner-up spot at Newcastle and he looks the main threat. Small Fry was a fair performer on the Flat and can fight it out for the minor honours on his debut in this sphere.

A winner on the second of his 2 hurdle outings in France, QUANTOCK HILLS made a solid start for new connections when second in a juvenile hurdle at Wetherby 32 days ago and a repeat here could well be enough to see him go one place better. Small Fry has progressed well on the level this year and he, along with Fine Point, heads up the dangers.

The Moore stable won this three times in a row between 2018 and 2020 and SMALL FRY is taken to make a winning hurdle debut.

A comfortable winner of this contest in 2022 off 2lb lower, DOES HE KNOW returned this season with a respectable fourth here over 3m1f. The step back up in trip is likely to suit and he is narrowly preferred to Abuffalosoldier, who was only worn down late in the piece at Exeter last time out. The hat-trick seeking Hymac is another to consider, having scored here in April, while Scottish National runner-up Surrey Quest cannot be ruled out.

HYMAC impressed with his jumping when beating a big field here in the spring and has returned in good form having picked up a novice hurdle at Newton Abbot last month. He remains unexposed so could be the answer despite being 3 lb out of the handicap. Abuffalosoldier made a promising comeback at Exeter so is a must for the shortlist, with Scottish National runner-up Surrey Quest another to consider.

The very lightly raced 8yo HYMAC won in a big field over 3m4f here in April and there's plenty to like about his claims today.

15:30 Cheltenham Handicap Hurdle (Class 1) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Not seen since maintaining her unbeaten record under Rules with an easy success at Doncaster in January, DYSART ENOS looks to have been laid out for this. A mark of 131 on her handicap debut could greatly underestimate her ability and she may have too much for talented course winner Burdett Road, who was a Listed scorer on the level in September. A determined winner of the Imperial Cup in March, Go Dante should come on plenty for his comeback fifth at Ffos Las and is a player, along with Under Control.

This looks a particularly strong renewal of what is always one of the hottest handicap hurdles of the season. Setbacks meant DYSART ENOS and Burdett Road missed Grade 1 targets at the spring festivals but that misfortune allowed them to protect lenient-looking marks in the low 130s and they look the pair to focus on, with preference for the former. Be Aware and Emmet Mullins par Jacovec Cavern and Toll Stone are other interesting contenders.

She's not an adventurous choice but good mare DYSART ENOS (nap) appears to have outstanding claims. Burdett Road is feared most.

(3) Spitfire Bridge 22/1, Some encouragement in bumpers and has shown fair form on the Flat. Looked a work in progress first 3 starts over hurdles this season but hasn't improved in handicaps the last twice, pulled up in first-time cheekpieces at Southwell (20.4f, good) 25 days ago.
Finished second on the Flat and over hurdles; forgettable recent form in handicaps.

Ex-Irish gelding who is 0-25 over hurdles and has been hammered in both runs for this yard.

(2) Getuptheyard 12/1, Ran up to best when keeping on well for fourth in 13-runner handicap at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) in April. After 6 months off, possibly needed the run when pulled up at Worcester in October, so he could fare better upped in trip.
0-9; hasn't always looked the easiest and doesn't appear to be that well handicapped.

(8) Mersey Street 10/3, Having eased further in the weights after 4 months off, ran best race in handicaps when second of 10 at Fakenham (20f, good) 18 days ago, leading until after 2 out having forced the pace. Can build on that run to open his account.
No match for the winner at Fakenham but was a clear second and mark remains the same.

Had wind surgery and with a new trainer but has it all to prove on second chase start.

Tailed off in all his races and being 10lb out of the weights clearly won't help.

15:50 Fontwell Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 22f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

An easy winner over C&D in May when last in action, WHYNOTNOWROY could be a shrewd recruit to the Neil Mulholland stable and an 8lb rise for that success should be manageable. Mersey Street ran his best race for some time when second over 2m4f at Fakenham last month and he is a key player, along with the unexposed Getoverthathill, who could be a different proposition on his handicap bow.

From his falling mark, MERSEY STREET produced his best effort since switched to handicaps when runner-up to an improver at Fakenham last month, so with that run behind him he could be ready to get off the mark. Whynotnowroy was suited by the longer trip when winning at this C&D in May and is feared most on stable debut, ahead of Getoverthathill.

Few hold much appeal. MERSEY STREET runs off the same mark as at Fakenham despite finishing clear of the third.

Up markedly in class now but he's evidently a bright prospect.

16:00 Cheltenham NH Flat Race (Class 1) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

MINELLA HOLLOW has made quite the impression on both career outings in Ireland so far. The booking of Sam Twiston-Davies is a positive one and he can land the hat-trick at the main expense of Fortune De Mer, who was a tad unlucky when hanging left inside the final furlong and eventually finishing half a length behind the reopposing Block Rockin Beats over C&D last month. Reiki Revolution can also have a say in proceedings, having improved markedly from first to second start when scoring easily at Galway.

Irish raider MINELLA HOLLOW maintained his 100% record despite displaying a fair bit of greenness when following up his Ballinrobe debut success at Roscommon in June and, appealing as the type to rate higher still in this sphere, he looks to hold solid claims. Fortune de Mer lacked the greater experience when just behind Block Rockin Beats over C&D last month and may emerge as the chief threat.

Unbeaten MINELLA HOLLOW has shown more than enough to suggest he's up to this standard. Fortune De Mer is second pick.
