1st (1) (1/5 +45%) Lathan |
1/5(+45%) | (1) Lathan 1/5, Cost €90,000 as a 3-y-o and was originally in the care of Dan Skelton (unraced for that yard). Showed more than first time up when third of 9 in novice hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f, good) 14 day ago and holds obvious claims here. Third at Wetherby two weeks ago where today's sole rival was 4l back in fourth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/2 -17%) The Geordie Ginge |
7/2(-17%) | (2) The Geordie Ginge 7/2, Fair hurdler at best but, having been sold out of Nigel Twiston-Davies yard for just 4,800 gns, he has been well below his best on a couple of starts for new connections. Bit to find with Lathan on Wetherby form but could turn the tables with cheekpieces tried. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Geordie Ginge remains a maiden after 10 outings over hurdles but he wasn't disgraced when finishing fourth at Wetherby at the start of this month. Hannah McMahon's gelding will be hoping to put his experience in this sphere to good effect, but first-time cheekpieces will need to improve him in order to reverse form with LATHAN, who finished ahead in third last time. The lightly-raced five-year-old is heading in the right direction and he won't find an easier opportunity to open his account.
Just 2 face the starter here and recent Wetherby third LATHAN is much preferred to The Geordie Ginge.
It could be worth taking a chance on THE GEORDIE GINGE reversing Wetherby placings with Lathan with cheekpieces now tried.

6/5(+40%) | (5) General Hubble 6/5, Ungenuine type. Career best when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Fairyhouse (24.3f, good, 5/2) 3 days ago, forging clear. Carries penalty. Capable of following up. Good winner at Fairyhouse on Tuesday; big chance here under the mandatory penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/2 +40%) Emily In Paris |
9/2(+40%) | (3) Emily In Paris 9/2, 7/1, good third of 13 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (24.1f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Enters calculations. Consistent mare is getting it together over fences and likely to run her race again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (33/1 -65%) Le Malin |
33/1(-65%) | (4) Le Malin 33/1, Seventh of 8 in handicap chase at Ayr (20.5f, heavy, 14/1). Off 9 months. Hard to make a solid case for. Handicap chase form has been poor and hard to fancy. |

50/1(-52%) | (13) Fr Gilligansvoyge 50/1, Course winner. One win from 58 NH runs. Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. 12/1, sixth of 9 in handicap chase at Downpatrick (23.7f, good to soft) 35 days ago. Well beaten last twice but is still capable of the odd good run; 5lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (22/1 -10%) Cullenwaine |
22/1(-10%) | (11) Cullenwaine 22/1, One win from 22 NH runs. Eighth of 10 in handicap chase (10/1) at Fairyhouse (24.6f, good) 10 days ago. Up against it. Ineffective of late off his much more generous chase mark; easy to pass over. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (20/1 -25%) Mastermind |
20/1(-25%) | (10) Mastermind 20/1, Thirty runs since last win in 2018. Poor winner at 16f over hurdles. 14/1, fifth of 12 in handicap chase at this course (23.2f, good) 30 days ago, left with lot to do. Stayed on quite well in a handicap chase here last month from 3lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (9/1 -64%) Bondi Boy Blue |
9/1(-64%) | (6) Bondi Boy Blue 9/1, 7/2, third of 10 in handicap chase at Sligo (25.8f, good) on debut over fences 44 days ago. One to consider. Improved on his chase debut in a staying handicap at Sligo last month when a close third. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (20/1 -67%) Kilmacurkin |
20/1(-67%) | (7) Kilmacurkin 20/1, 10/1, first run since leaving James Andrew Fahey when bit below form ninth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Sligo (20.3f, soft) 21 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Mid-division in a Sligo handicap hurdle on his stable debut; has it to prove at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (16/1 +52%) Howya Luveen |
16/1(+52%) | (2) Howya Luveen 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 18/1, tenth of 16 in handicap chase at Galway (22.5f, heavy) 19 days ago. Hard to make a case for. Has had no impact in beginners chases or on her handicap debut at Galway; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (66/1 -32%) Keeffelee |
66/1(-32%) | (9) Keeffelee 66/1, Eighth of 15 in handicap chase (40/1) at Clonmel (20.8f, good to soft) 8 days ago. Others make more appeal. Modest overall form; soundly beaten on his first completed chase at Clonmel last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (8/1 -45%) Bearwithmenow |
8/1(-45%) | (8) Bearwithmenow 8/1, One win from 25 NH runs. Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. Good third of 10 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (24.6f, good, 12/1) 10 days ago. Respected. Close third at Fairyhouse last week; 2lb higher here but will go close if reproducing it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/1 -10%) Pictures Of Home |
11/1(-10%) | (1) Pictures Of Home 11/1, Blinkered for 1st time, below form fourth of 10 in novice chase (10/3) at Killarney (23.4f, soft) 40 days ago. Others more appealing. Remote fourth in a beginners chase at Killarney last month; blinkers left off today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (20/1 +0%) Rudy Catrail |
20/1(+0%) | (12) Rudy Catrail 20/1, 11/1, third of 9 in handicap chase at Downpatrick (23.7f, good to soft) 35 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Very effective front-runner at his best but has show little since the summer of last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
GENERAL HUBBLE turns out again quickly here after an easy victory at Fairyhouse on Tuesday. The Telescope gelding ran out a six-length winner over three miles and given the style of his victory, the race hopefully won't have taken too much out of him. Connections claim 7lb off him again with Carl Millar taking the ride. Emily In Paris has run well on her last couple of outings, both over timber, and she has to be on the shortlist now racing off a few pounds lower over fences. Jack Kennedy has been on Pictures Of Home both times he has won and the top-weight could be place material.
GENERAL HUBBLE seems to have found his feet for Gordon Elliott now and, having scored from out of the handicap at Fairyhouse 3 days ago, he's effectively only 1 lb higher now, so he's the leading contender ahead of Emily In Paris, who ran well over hurdles at Down Royal a fortnight ago. Bondi Boy Blue is another one to consider.
Preference is for GENERAL HUBBLE(nap) after readily landing a handicap at Fairyhouse on Tuesday. The mandatory penalty may not stop him

1st (3) (9/4 +18%) Stringtoyourbow |
9/4(+18%) | (3) Stringtoyourbow 9/4, Fair winning hurdler who has shown similar form in this sphere, latest when third of 14 in Worcester handicap chase (23f, heavy) last month. Has to be taken seriously off a slipping mark. Conditions may have turned against him at Worcester last time; can be taken to revive.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (12/1 -118%) Ali Star Bert |
12/1(-118%) | (2) Ali Star Bert 12/1, Three-time 3m chase winner (including twice over C&D) in the mud last season but has returned with a couple of laboured efforts. Bit to prove at present. Two C&D chase wins last winter; well below his best on both starts since a summer break.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/2 +25%) Good Work |
15/2(+25%) | (1) Good Work 15/2, Unreliable individual. Still looking for first success and arrives on back of poor return at Chepstow 35 days ago when not seeming to fancy it. Twelve seconds but no wins under rules; inconclusive seasonal return last month.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/1 -100%) Big Bee Hive |
9/1(-100%) | (4) Big Bee Hive 9/1, Never involved, back from 4 months off, at Sedgefield 26 days ago but hit the ground running over fences earlier this year, winning 3 times at up to 25f, and remains feasibly treated. 2m5f win and C&D second here in the summer; chance if jumping better than last time.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (7/1 -27%) Hamartia |
7/1(-27%) | (6) Hamartia 7/1, Still looking for first success but has made the frame in all 5 starts in this sphere, latest when fourth of 7 in handicap at Huntingdon (23.6f, good) 38 days ago. Blinkers now added for first time and can't be discounted. Back on track when fourth latest; looks handicapped to figure if new headgear mix works.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/4 +61%) Lepashe |
11/4(+61%) | (7) Lepashe 11/4, Offered more than previously over fences when third of 8 in handicap chase (17/2) at Uttoxeter (24f, good to soft) 28 days ago. May come on from that but others look better treated. Doncaster 2023 efforts (hurdles) remain his best; well held on recent chasing return.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (7/1 -17%) Mixedwave |
7/1(-17%) | (5) Mixedwave 7/1, Won 2 of his 7 starts last term and should be straighter for last month's return at Uttoxeter. Warrants respect. Return run will have been needed; not on a winning mark, and best form going right-handed.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Running off just 2lb higher than his last winning rating, MIXEDWAVE has plenty to recommend him with the ground in his favour and he's likely to be sharper after blowing the cobwebs away at Uttoxeter last month. Stringtoyourbow has yet to sparkle over fences but, like the selection, might have needed the run last time out and could be a different proposition here. Ali Star Bert is back on a winning mark and shouldn't be underestimated.
Preference is for STRINGTOYOURBOW, who figures off a handy mark and arrives on the back of a creditable third at Worcester last month. Big Bee Hive and Hamartia can also make their presence felt in an open-looking contest.
This assignment shouldn't strain STRINGTOYOURBOW's stamina quite as much as Worcester last time. He's favoured over Big Bee Hive.

1st (9) (10/3 +17%) You Some Girl |
10/3(+17%) | (9) You Some Girl 10/3, Posted a good second of 6 in handicap hurdle at Kelso (25.8f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Hood back on and ought to be in the shake-up despite her losing run. 0-12 over jumps but good second over 3m2f at Kelso last time; each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3/1 +25%) Jeteye |
3/1(+25%) | (5) Jeteye 3/1, Got off the mark at Hexham in June and in good order since, second of 7 over C&D 15 days ago. That form has been franked so he's a player. Hexham winner in June; good second to subsequent winner over C&D last time; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 +18%) Hostile Hotelier |
9/2(+18%) | (3) Hostile Hotelier 9/2, Dual hurdles winner who wasn't disgraced when fourth of 6 in handicap chase at Ayr (24.1f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Much respected back over hurdles. Two wins last term (2m/2m4f, soft/heavy); fair fourth back up to 3m latest; bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (12/1 -20%) Kajaki |
12/1(-20%) | (8) Kajaki 12/1, Got back on track when third of 12 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (19.8f, good) 53 days ago. In the mix with cheekpieces refitted. Eight wins, including on fast ground on the Flat; fair 3rd last time; stamina to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (10/1 -25%) Grass's Jet |
10/1(-25%) | (6) Grass's Jet 10/1, Fair maiden hurdler for Thomas Gallagher. Yet to fire for his current yard, tenth in handicap hurdle at Ayr 18 days ago. Handily weighted but he needs to take a big step forward. 0-6; two ordinary runs for this yard, latest here; 2lb lower; back up in trip; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (50/1 -150%) Polish |
50/1(-150%) | (1) Polish 50/1, It's now 17 runs since his last win in 2021 and only sixth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Aintree (24.7f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Others appeal more. Ex-Fergal O'Brien; 2-19 over hurdles but not at his best for present yard; others stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (25/1 +0%) Steps Match |
25/1(+0%) | (2) Steps Match 25/1, Resumed winning ways over hurdles at Perth in September but made mistakes before unseated rider a circuit out over C&D 15 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Ex-Irish; won Perth h'cap on yard debut; now 10lb higher; others look better treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (22/1 -10%) Balally Park |
22/1(-10%) | (4) Balally Park 22/1, Modest ex-Irish maiden hurdler. Only sixth of 9 in 2m4f Perth handicap for his new yard so more is required with headgear back on. Ex-Irsh; 0-7; fair run on stable debut; well beaten latest; new headgear; stamina to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (33/1 +0%) Ebendi |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Ebendi 33/1, Fairly useful Flat performer for Joseph O'Brien. Below that form over hurdles for his current yard and when back on the level at Redcar ten days ago. 5 lb out of the handicap too. Ex-Irish Flat winner; maiden over jumps but has run creditably on occasions; 5lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (3/1 +14%) Jimli's Island |
3/1(+14%) | (7) Jimli's Island 3/1, Landed a brace of Perth handicaps and a good second of 7 in 23f handicap here 15 days ago. Must enter calculations. Ex-Irish; has won two 3m handicaps for this yard (chase/hurdle) and should go well again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
YOU SOME GIRL's stamina appeared stretched by the 3m2f distance when second at Kelso last time and compensation could be on the cards over this extended 2m7f trip. Charlie Maggs can now use his handy 7lb claim and an improved bid is forecast. Jeteye found only the fast-improving Skyjack Hijack too strong over C&D 15 days ago and Sam England's inmate is feared most racing off an unchanged mark. Jimli's Island and Hostile Hotelier are others to note reverting to timber.
A tight-knit handicap in which marginal preference is for JETEYE who can race off the same mark as when a very good recent C&D second and is now taken to get back to winning ways with that form working out well. Kajaki heads the list of dangers on the back of his resurgent Sedgefield third, with You Some Girl, Hostile Hotelier and Grass's Jet also in the mix.
Having run well when second to a subsequent winner over C&D last time JETEYE (nap) is taken to win his second race of the season.

9/2(-35%) | (2) Jasko Des Dames 9/2, Promising sort. Career best when winning 6-runner novice chase (4/6) at Wexford (19.7f, heavy) on debut over fences 19 days ago, driven out. Should progress and boasts solid claims. Won on chase debut at Wexford, questions to answer on good ground and at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 +44%) Broomfield Bijou |
5/2(+44%) | (1) Broomfield Bijou 5/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Creditable 8 lengths third of 7 to Jordans in Gr 3 chase at this course (18.3f, good, 5/1) 30 days ago. Enters calculations. Course winner over hurdles, third in a Grade 3 novice chase here latest, leading claims. |

3rd (8) (4/1 +0%) Park The Giant |
4/1(+0%) | (8) Park The Giant 4/1, Promising type. 7/1, fourth of 9 in novice chase at Galway (18.2f, good to soft) on debut over fences 38 days ago, travelling smoothly and still in contention when clouting the last. Leading claims. Promise on chase debut, will improve for that, this trip worth a try, don't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (13/2 -30%) Undeniable Alibi |
13/2(-30%) | (9) Undeniable Alibi 13/2, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. Seventh of 8 in novice hurdle at Killarney (20.2f, good to soft, 6/1). Off 6 months. Makes chase debut. Point winner, rated 116 over hurdles, related to chase winners, top yard, can't dismiss. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (13/2 +46%) Lazer Wolf |
13/2(+46%) | (5) Lazer Wolf 13/2, Fairly useful hurdler. 16/1, fifth of 12 in novice chase at this C&D (good) on debut over fences 30 days ago. May well do better. 120 rated hurdler, beaten 38l over C&D on chase bow, hood and tongue tie on, needs rain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (18/1 -13%) Well Del |
18/1(-13%) | (3) Well Del 18/1, Thrice-raced winner under NH rules. Fifth of 6 in minor event hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.5f, good, 6/1) 10 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Won a three runner beginners' at Limerick, well-beaten over hurdles latest, best watched. |

7th (6) (40/1 -21%) Listentillitellyea |
40/1(-21%) | (6) Listentillitellyea 40/1, Fairly useful hurdler. One win from 23 NH runs. Career best when winning 14-runner handicap hurdle at Galway (16.6f, soft, 5/1), driven clear. Off 14 months. Can play a part if taking to chasing. Won three handicap hurdles last year, this trip and ground an unknown, may need further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (10) (20/1 +39%) Macinamillion |
20/1(+39%) | (10) Macinamillion 20/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Tenth of 13 in novice chase (80/1) at Wexford (16f, heavy) 18 days ago, not knocked about. Others preferred. No impact in his first two chase starts, in good hands but looks the stable second string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (28/1 -12%) Low Style |
28/1(-12%) | (7) Low Style 28/1, Fair hurdler. Fair winner at 15f over hurdles. Seventh of 13 in novice chase at Tipperary (16.5f, good to soft, 20/1). Off 6 months. Won over hurdles in 2022, no impact after long layoff at Tipperary in April, hard to fancy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A tricky-looking contest and JASKO DES DAMES may be able to double up over fences after making a successful start at Wexford late last month. The It's Gino gelding was value for a bit more than his winning margin of half a length that day, after getting under the last fence, and there looks to be scope for further improvement. Broomfield Bijou also carries a winner's penalty and the mare takes a drop in class after finishing third in Grade 3 company here last month. Chase newcomer Undeniable Alibi is another for the shortlist. The Saint des Saints gelding was a point-to-point winner and may improve on his hurdles form from last season.
PARK THE GIANT was in contention when making a mess of the last on chasing debut and there's more to offer, so he's preferred to Jasko Des Dames, who opened his account at the first time of asking in this sphere. Broomfield Bijou is also capable of playing a part following a good third in Grade 3 company here last time.
BROOMFIELD BIJOU gets the nod. A course winner over timber, her Gr 3 third here last time reads well in the context of this race.

1st (1) (7/4 +22%) Jolyjump |
7/4(+22%) | (1) Jolyjump 7/4, Off the mark over timber at Taunton (16.5f) in April and looked in need of experience when fourth of 6 in handicap chase at Fakenham (16.3f, good, 10/3) on debut over fences 16 days ago. Should be more to come in this sphere. Trip/ground fine; didn't get into a jumping rhythm at Fakenham latest, but can do better.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/8 +0%) Easter Junction |
13/8(+0%) | (3) Easter Junction 13/8, Still looking for first success under Rules but posted creditable fifth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f, good to firm) when last seen in July and could be a different proposition on first start/yard debut over the larger obstacles (has experience in points). Career-low mark for this stable/chase debut, but does need to finish his races stronger.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (8/1 +50%) Eric Carmen |
8/1(+50%) | (5) Eric Carmen 8/1, Irish point winner who capitalised on his falling mark over hurdles at this course (20.4f, heavy) in May. However, weak finishes have become the norm of late and he tries a shorter trip now. Has saved best form this season (including a win) for here, albeit over 2m4f or further.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/3 -48%) Lady Gwen |
10/3(-48%) | (4) Lady Gwen 10/3, Tricky customer but won 3 times over hurdles last year and posted good second of 12 in handicap chase at Exeter (17.5f, good to soft) on debut over fences last month. Likely contender. Headed late on last month's Exeter chase debut; this course likely suits better; player.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
These fences can be tricky to negotiate and with that in mind, previous course winner ERIC CARMEN might have an advantage over the rest. The Gary Hammer-trained gelding has been struggling to find his form over longer distances of late and, getting plenty of weight from these rivals, dropping to this trip could be a profitable move. Lady Gwen is unexposed as a chaser and warrants respect as a result, while Jolyjump is another potential improver to seriously consider.
LADY GWEN isn't straightforward but made a good start over fences at Exeter last month and can get off the mark over the larger obstacles here. Jolyjump may provide the chief threat.
Back around a suitably sharp track, LADY GWEN can make it second time lucky over fences. Jolyjump can go close if jumping better.

1st (11) (3/1 +50%) Double Powerful |
3/1(+50%) | (11) Double Powerful 3/1, Continues to go from strength-to-strength, typically travelling strongly when bringing up the 5-timer at Fontwell (19.1f) 7 days ago, not fluent late on but still drawing clear. Another meriting serious respect turned out under a penalty. Won his last five; penalised for last week but difficult to know how far he might go. |

2nd (17) (12/1 +25%) Young Lucy |
12/1(+25%) | (17) Young Lucy 12/1, Sole success to date come in a Cork bumper early last year. Some promise over hurdles initially and she comes here fit from respectable efforts in staying handicaps on the Flat in recent months. Interesting if the market spoke in her favour back over hurdles for shrewd stable. Bumper winner but essentially a disappointing maiden on the Flat and over hurdles. |

3rd (9) (9/2 +25%) Plaisir Des Flos |
9/2(+25%) | (9) Plaisir Des Flos 9/2, Upwardly mobile 5-y-o who completed 5-timer in good style after 6 months off in 9-runner handicap hurdle at Carlisle (20f) 3 weeks ago, always holding on under hands-and-heels ride. Handicapper applies a little more pressure but unlikely he's reached his limit yet. Player. Made it 5-5 in handicaps when beating a fellow improver at Carlisle; up another 7lb. |

11/1(+31%) | (6) Tune In A Box 11/1, Most progressive switched to handicaps last season, making it 4 wins from 5 starts when taking big-field contest at Punchestown (19.4f) in April. Shaped more encouragingly than bare result would imply on return in Silver Trophy last month and he remains potentially useful. Dropped out tamely at Chepstow a month ago and the handicapper may have caught up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (25/1 -233%) Il Va De Soi |
25/1(-233%) | (7) Il Va De Soi 25/1, Progressive since the cheekpieces went on, confirming previous promise when off the mark at Chepstow (19.5f) in April and plenty in hand when defying an 8 lb hike at Uttoxeter (20f) later that month. Feasible to think there's even more to come this campaign. Last two wins have come on soft ground but he smacks of an improving 6yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (17/2 +6%) American Sniper |
17/2(+6%) | (1) American Sniper 17/2, Won this race 12 months ago and lines up here having bounced back to best with cheekpieces refitted when gamely landing 4-runner handicap hurdle at Newbury (24.2f) 8 days ago. Blinkers now the headgear of choice and rider's claim all but off-sets his penalty. Respected. Last year's winner; back to form last week at Newbury but today's blinkers are new. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (15) (8/1 +43%) Stay If U Want To |
8/1(+43%) | (15) Stay If U Want To 8/1, Fairly useful bumper winner who has made a sound start over hurdles, off the mark in a Hereford maiden (16.2f) in May. Similar form back from 4 months off when second on handicap debut at Wincanton (21.4f) 4 weeks ago but likely he'll need to pull out more to take this. No match for winner on handicap debut but ran well; jockey's 10lb claim welcomed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (25/1 -79%) Getalead |
25/1(-79%) | (8) Getalead 25/1, Caused a surprise after 6 months off when successful at Wincanton (15.2f) in October and, having escaped a penalty, he followed up at Warwick (21f) 10 days ago. Got away with some slipshod jumping on that occasion and this a taller ask in this more competitive environment. Bang in form but escaped a penalty last time; 12lb higher in this stronger contest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (5/1 +69%) Whatsupwithyou |
5/1(+69%) | (2) Whatsupwithyou 5/1, Back to best when winning at Ludlow (21.2f, soft) last December and found only one too good all 3 starts since, latterly on the back of 6 months off in 5-runner Fontwell handicap (19f) 23 days ago. Usual cheekpieces go back on now. Consistent at this trip; on a tough mark so Callum Pritchard taking off 10lb will help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (28/1 -12%) Clonbury Bridge |
28/1(-12%) | (14) Clonbury Bridge 28/1, Landed a big-field handicap at Cork (2m) in the spring and essentially remained in form since, good third over hurdles at Listowel (18f) in September prior to a solid second over fences at Clonmel (20.7f) 3 weeks ago. May be vulnerable from this mark back over timber, however. All bases covered as regards trip/ground and in current form is likely to run well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (50/1 -79%) Foster'sisland |
50/1(-79%) | (4) Foster'sisland 50/1, Winless last season but signed off with a good third at Ayr (21.4f) in the spring and similar form after 7 months off when second of 6 in handicap hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f) 2 weeks ago. This demands more however nudged up 1 lb. Made a pleasing return at Wetherby recently but others might be better treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (20) (22/1 +45%) Wot You Wearing |
22/1(+45%) | (20) Wot You Wearing 22/1, Back-to-back winner at Chepstow last November and very encouraging start to present campaign when just touched off in a 25.5f Hereford handicap (good) in October. Not in same form when fifth back at first-named venue 17 days ago but he's a likely candidate to bounce back. No obvious reasons why his last run was so ordinary but he has a bigger effort in him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) (16/1 +11%) Littlefoot |
16/1(+11%) | (10) Littlefoot 16/1, Off the mark with cheekpieces enlisted in small-field Ballinrobe maiden (23f) in August and backed that up when third in 16-runner handicap back at that venue (22f) a month later, running on late. No reason why he won't give a good account with this stiff finish expected to suit. Assured stayer who travels over after two competitive shows in Ireland. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (13) (150/1 -127%) Zacony Rebel |
150/1(-127%) | (13) Zacony Rebel 150/1, Dual hurdles/chase winner who was largely disappointing during a light 2023/24 campaign for Toby Lawes. Reappears after 10 months off for new yard in a hot-looking handicap and percentage call to look elsewhere. Has lost his way and changed hands for £1,000 in May; not hard to turn elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (18) (20/1 -11%) Rebel Intentions |
20/1(-11%) | (18) Rebel Intentions 20/1, Returned from a break at the top of his game, going one place better than at Stratford when bagging 7-runner handicap hurdle at Kempton (21f) 26 days ago, staying on well. More on his plate up 5 lb in this stronger affair but he's evidently thriving. Latest Kempton race might not have taken much winning; up 5lb and in deeper here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (19) (50/1 -79%) Victory Club |
50/1(-79%) | (19) Victory Club 50/1, Landed a bumper on first of 3 starts for Dan Skelton in 2022. Missed whole of last year but showed benefit of reappearance/yard debut effort at Taunton in March when second in a Wincanton maiden (15.2f) later that month. Still, this a tough introduction to handicaps/after 7 months off. Second to the fav in a maiden when last seen but has to improve on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Quickly turned out after another easy success at Fontwell last week, DOUBLE POWERFUL continues to go from strength to strength and it is difficult to know where his ceiling lies. Neil Mulholland's charge can bring up the six-timer at the main expense of Plaisir Des Flos, who arrives on the same winning streak. American Sniper could go close off just 1lb higher than when taking this contest last year, while the progressive Il Va De Soi is another to consider, as well as Kempton scorer Rebel Intentions.
PLAISIR DES FLOS found further progress when bringing up the 5-timer on return at Carlisle 3 weeks ago, only needing hands-and-heels riding to see off another upwardly-mobile sort (the pair clear). It's feasible to think the handicapper hasn't caught up with him yet on that evidence and Fergal O'Brien's 5-y-o makes strong appeal again. Double Powerful is of a very similar ilk and he's feared, as is Tune In A Box and Il Va De Soi in an ultra-competitive opener.
Although exposed, WHATSUPWITHYOU has been running perfectly well off his tough mark and today has the assistance of Callum Pritchard.

1st (4) (8/11 +78%) Autumn Return |
8/11(+78%) | (4) Autumn Return 8/11, Most likeable hurdler who got off the mark at the first attempt in this sphere at Perth in September. Beat only one at Uttoxeter following month (reportedly suffered leg cut) but well worth another chance. Winning hurdler; won Perth novice handicap on chase debut; excuses last time; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/10 +56%) Imperial Merlin |
11/10(+56%) | (2) Imperial Merlin 11/10, Fairly useful hurdler who wasn't disgraced when fifth of 12 in 22f Cartmel handicap in July. Only second run over fences when fell second last (yet to be asked for effort) in February so no forlorn hope back in this sphere. Quite useful over hurdles; fair form in two chases (fell two out 2nd time); bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Having finished a close-up second on his last two appearances, compensation could be heading in COQOLINO's direction. Ben Haslam's charge has done little wrong in recent months and he looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to get his head in front, despite a 3lb higher mark making life tougher. Autumn Return had excuses at Uttoxeter (found to have sustained a wound to right-fore) and a reproduction of her Perth victory should see her in the thick of the action. Imperial Merlin could also go close if cutting out the errors in this discipline.
AUTUMN RETURN got off to the perfect start over fences at Perth only to suffer a leg cut at Uttoxeter last time and this likeable mare is worth siding with to bounce back in style. Coqolino comes here in very good nick and rates a big threat.
Preference is for BENSON, who is well handicapped on his best form and should improve on last month's run at Hexham.

There's No Limit |
(6) (25/1 0%)25/1(0%) | (6) There's No Limit 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden over hurdles. Fair winner at 10f on flat. Blinkered for 1st time, third of 7 in juvenile hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, good, 16/1) 45 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Not disgraced in a maiden at Sedgefield last month; much more needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (16/1 -88%) Coul Dreamer |
16/1(-88%) | (3) Coul Dreamer 16/1, Fairly useful maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. Eighth of 14 in maiden (16/1) at Dundalk (10.7f) 21 days ago, doing too much too soon. Some decent maiden form and no surprise if he went well here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (2/1 +20%) Turn And Finish |
2/1(+20%) | (7) Turn And Finish 2/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. Promising type. 12/1, third of 17 in juvenile hurdle at Galway (16.4f, good to soft) 20 days ago, running on late. Stable having good spell. Solid claims. Good Galway run; might prefer it softer but going the right way and can get involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (2/1 -7%) Puturhandstogether |
2/1(-7%) | (5) Puturhandstogether 2/1, Fairly useful Flat winner, making GB/IRE jumps debut. Seventh of 18 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, good, 5/2) 83 days ago. Notable newcomer to hurdling. Useful Flat horse; likely to make the market and likely to be the best of the newcomers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 -14%) Babich |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Babich 4/1, Fairly useful maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. Second of 6 in maiden (7/4) at Roscommon (10.4f, soft) 32 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Tongue-tied for his hurdles debut and certainly interesting on his Flat form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/1 +17%) Magic Thunder |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Magic Thunder 10/1, Fairly useful Flat winner. Twice-raced maiden. 9/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, thirteenth of 17 in juvenile hurdle at Galway (16.4f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Dual winner on the Flat in France but very disappointing in two runs over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (10/1 +55%) Carried With Love |
10/1(+55%) | (9) Carried With Love 10/1, Fair maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. Third of 18 in handicap (4/1) at Galway (11.8f, heavy) 18 days ago, nearest finish. Has the ability to win a race although he looks the stable third choice here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (100/1 +0%) Sprinkles |
100/1(+0%) | (10) Sprinkles 100/1, Modest maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. Tenth of 11 in handicap (25/1) at Naas (10.4f, good). Hood on for 1st time in this code. No form to speak of on the Flat and makes little appeal on current evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (28/1 -40%) Bhean Saibhre |
28/1(-40%) | (8) Bhean Saibhre 28/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. Promising type. Hooded for 1st time, fifth of 12 in juvenile hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, good, 14/1) on NH debut 10 days ago, not knocked about. May well do better. Stronger race than Fairyhouse but not without an each-way chance if she can improve. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Joseph O'Brien saddles three in this and PUTURHANDSTOGETHER may prove the pick on his hurdling debut. The Caravaggio gelding showed a nice level of ability on that Flat, winning a Curragh handicap off a mark of 79, and his half-brother Showurappreciation won over hurdles last year. Stablemate Turn And Finish has hurdling experience under his belt and is entitled to be a leading contender. He was a fine third at Galway 20 days ago, while Babich ran well in Roscommon maiden on the Flat last month and is another to note on his jumping bow.
PUTURHANDSTOGETHER achieved a fairly useful level of form on the Flat and should be well prepared for this hurdling debut by his top yard, so he's preferred to stablemate Turn And Finish, who stayed on well into third at Galway last time. Ballyearl is an interesting newcomer on pedigree.
TURN AND FINISH ran very well over hurdles at Galway and comes right into it. His previous experience might just prove crucial

Pulled up in both starts since winning at Leicester in February. |

1st (4) (15/8 +63%) Icare Grandchamp |
15/8(+63%) | (4) Icare Grandchamp 15/8, Opened chase account in a 13-runner handicap at Newton Abbot (21f, good) in June. By no means disgraced back from a break at Bangor (20.3f, heavy) recently and should have a big part to play back on better ground. Novice chaser who has form figures of 213 this term and may still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/4 -29%) Davidoc |
9/4(-29%) | (1) Davidoc 9/4, Point winner who opened his hurdles account at the fourth attempt in a good-ground Plumpton maiden (2m) in April. Beaten favourite in a couple of handicaps since but shapes as though this step up in trip will be in his favour now switched to fences and represents an in-form yard. Point/hurdle winner who is bred to make a chaser; has largely consistent form; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/2 +50%) Begin The Luck |
7/2(+50%) | (6) Begin The Luck 7/2, Deservedly got his head back in front when capitalising on a lower hurdles mark at Stratford (18.7f, heavy) last month. Forecast quicker ground here no issue and should make his presence felt returned to the larger obstacles. Scored over hurdles last time; ties in with Icare Grandchamp on June running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/1 +21%) Fever Dream |
11/1(+21%) | (2) Fever Dream 11/1, Winner over hurdles at Perth in June and followed that with a couple of respectable efforts in defeat. Built for chasing but recent debut effort in this sphere at Fakenham left much to be desired, even allowing for the fact that the drop to 16.3f was against him. Yard also saddles Up For Appeal. This step back up in distance looks a plus on second chase attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (18/1 -80%) Force De Frap |
18/1(-80%) | (3) Force De Frap 18/1, Successful at Bangor and Ludlow last term but ended that campaign with a couple of rather subdued efforts. All 4 career wins have been gained at around 2m and he's probably worth taking on back up in trip here following a 6-month absence. Lacks recent match practice and has a bit to prove back up in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (10/1 -100%) Doyen For Money |
10/1(-100%) | (5) Doyen For Money 10/1, Winner of sole start between the flags and notched second success over hurdles when landing a handicap at Wincanton (19.8f, soft) on sole start last season. Makes chase debut off 10 lb higher mark but he is one to consider nonetheless. Point winner; 2-3 in handicap hurdles; open to further progress on reappearance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A mistake four out put paid to the unexposed DAVIDOC rewarding favourite-backers in a hurdle race at Plumpton last month but, looking every inch a chaser, the switch to this discipline can see the Ben Pauling-trained gelding make amends. Icare Grandchamp has winning form over fences and is feared most off a competitive mark. Last-time-out hurdle winners Begin The Luck and Doyen For Money command respect but have more to do from their revised marks now switched to chasing.
It's likely that point winners DAVIDOC and Doyen For Money will step up on what they showed over hurdles now switched to the larger obstacles. Marginal preference is for the former, who promises to be suited by this stiffer test and he hails from a yard that has made a very bright start to the season. Icare Grandchamp is third choice ahead of Begin The Luck.
Topweight DAVIDOC should take well to chasing and is first choice ahead of Icare Grandchamp, who looks another solid contender.

1st (2) (2/1 +20%) Hyland |
2/1(+20%) | (2) Hyland 2/1, Useful hurdler who made it 2-3 over fences when scoring by a wide margin over C&D (good) 20 days ago. The front pair in the market that day clearly didn't give their running but he nevertheless did the job in good style and has to be respected. 2-2 on the Old course here, latest success in novice chase by 15l; strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 -13%) Resplendent Grey |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Resplendent Grey 9/2, Ended last season on the up over hurdles and perfect start to chase career when readily accounting for 5 rivals in a 2½m Uttoxeter handicap on return last month. This is more demanding but he should have more to offer and shapes as though this stiffer test will be right up his street. Scored readily at Uttoxeter on the switch to fences and is open to further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (2/1 -14%) Springwell Bay |
2/1(-14%) | (1) Springwell Bay 2/1, Very useful hurdler. Jumping improved as the race wore on when landing a 5-runner listed event on chase debut at Chepstow (19.5f, good) last month, form which was boosted when the third (Boombawn) recently landed a Grade 2 at Wincanton. Open to improvement in this sphere and he's a big player. Won over hurdles at this meeting in 2023; took well to fences at Chepstow last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/5 +36%) Buddy One |
16/5(+36%) | (3) Buddy One 16/5, Smart hurdler who made the frame in top stayers' events at the big festivals during the spring. Landed the odds in a 3-runner affair at Galway (22.5f, good to soft) on debut in this sphere last month but was put in his place at Wexford since and will need to brush up on his jumping. The best hurdler in this field but hasn't shown the same form in two chase runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
A comfortable winner on his debut over fences at Chepstow last month in a race that has worked out well since, SPRINGWELL BAY is taken to continue his progression at a track where he scored at this meeting last year over hurdles. The step back up to 3m should aid his cause and the seven-year-old gets the vote ahead of Hyland, who is already two from three over fences and could not have done it any easier when scoring over C&D last month. Resplendent Grey impressed at Uttoxeter and this rise in distance could bring about further improvement.
Preference is for RESPLENDENT GREY, who looked a smart novice in the making at Uttoxeter and he looks ready for both this step up in class and trip. Springwell Bay also made a winning chase debut at Chepstow and is greatly respected given that, like the selection, he is open to improvement in this sphere. Hyland is impossible to discount on the back of his emphatic C&D success but Buddy One, though the pick of these over hurdles, has not looked a natural over fences so far.
Promising chaser SPRINGWELL BAY (nap) is taken to defy a 5lb penalty for his tidy Chepstow success. Hyland is feared most.

10/3(-48%) | (5) Starlyte 10/3, Has looked rejuvenated on her last couple of starts, scoring with plenty in hand at Kelso 6 days ago. Past C&D winner who should go well under a penalty. Back to form when winning Kelso handicap on good to soft on Saturday; faster going a worry. |

2nd (4) (7/1 +13%) Kay Tara Tara |
7/1(+13%) | (4) Kay Tara Tara 7/1, Ended her time with Alan King under a cloud but started life for this yard on a more positive note when fifth at Uttoxeter a fortnight ago. Claims if she can build on that. AW bumper/maiden hurdle winner for Alan King; fair 4th on stable debut; cheekpieces tried. |

3rd (1) (8/13 +32%) Fromheretoeternity |
8/13(+32%) | (1) Fromheretoeternity 8/13, Looks highly progressive since joining this yard, landing a handicap at Worcester before easily following up in a novice at Hexham 7 days ago. Clearly the one to beat in the hat-trick bid. Two from two with headgear for this yard; 3lb well in after last week's easy win (2m). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/1 -29%) Micks Jet |
9/1(-29%) | (2) Micks Jet 9/1, Bumper winner who made steady progress over hurdles prior to landing the odds in Musselburgh maiden (19.8f, soft) in February. Tame efforts subsequently but starts handicaps on a potentially lenient mark back from 6 months off. Easy winner of a mares' maiden in February but pulled up both starts since; bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FROMHERETOETERNITY is unbeaten in two starts for the Jennie Candlish stable and couldn't have been more impressive in novice company at Hexham last week. The seven-year-old steps back into the handicap ranks with a 7lb penalty to shoulder but that is unlikely to prevent her from completing the hat-trick. Starlyte was a comfortable winner at Kelso recently and it would be no surprise to see her heavily involved here, while See A Stride could take third spot.
FROMHERETOETERNITY is thriving for current connections and is well fancied to complete the hat-trick with the potential for even more improvement. Fellow last-time-out winner Starlyte is a threat and Kay Tara Tara can play a part if stepping forward from her stable debut.
Following her easy novice win at Hexham a week ago, FROMHERETOETERNITY is taken to follow up with her penalty.

5/2(-11%) | (14) Will The Wise 5/2, Won sole start in points and made successful start under Rules when landing 14-runner bumper at this course (16f, soft, 11/4) in May. Must be of interest on hurdles debut. Will stay further and might want it a bit softer but should be a leading player. |

3rd (13) (11/2 -10%) Tumuch |
11/2(-10%) | (13) Tumuch 11/2, Once-raced maiden. 7/1, fifth of 9 in bumper at Gowran (18f, heavy) on NH debut. Off 8 months. Warrants respect on hurdles debut. Should be a lot better than his debut but others have more compelling claims here. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The Willie Mullins-trained IRANCY should prove hard to beat on his second start for the stable. A winner in his native France as a three-year-old, the gelding made a promising start for new connections when third on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse last December. Given that both the winner and runner-up went on to prove themselves in Grade 1 company, this looks a nice opportunity for the six-year-old. Rapparee Champ, a winner on the Flat for Joseph O'Brien, has been improving with each run over hurdles. Charles Byrnes' representative holds every chance of opening his account in this sphere. Point-to-point/bumper scorer Will The Wise is another who is worthy of respect.
IRANCY is in good hands and shaped with plenty of encouragement when third on his hurdles bow at Fairyhouse in December. He can land the spoils here. Rapparee Champ and Will The Wise are feared most.
Preference is for IRANCY who was third in a very hot maiden hurdle when last seen almost a year ago and should take beating

1st (1) (85/40 +6%) Little Watson |
85/40(+6%) | (1) Little Watson 85/40, Successful start for Nigel Twiston-Davies at Stratford in May and good effort under a penalty for new yard here 3 weeks ago, going down fighting even with the winner lugging into him for a fair portion of the straight. Strong claims. Won on debut in May before close second under penalty at Stratford last month; key player. |

2nd (3) (11/2 -10%) Benmore |
11/2(-10%) | (3) Benmore 11/2, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Half-brother to hurdler Shannon Gray. Dam ran once over hurdles, half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 2¾m) Beakstown. Yard can ready them and he's respected. Yard 18% in bumpers in recent years and interesting to see how she figures in market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (2/1 -23%) Tony Joe |
2/1(-23%) | (6) Tony Joe 2/1, Westerner gelding. Closely related to smart hurdler/top-class chaser Ahoy Senor, and half-brother to 2 winners, including fair hurdler/useful chaser Snuff Box. Yard's bumper runners going well once again and he's of obvious interest. Closely related to Ahoy Senor and he's an interesting newcomer for in-form yard. |

4th (5) (3/1 +25%) Remus |
3/1(+25%) | (5) Remus 3/1, 6/4, held back by inexperience and never a threat in Stratford bumper 11 weeks ago. Down the field when 6-4 at Stratford but he ran green and should know more this time. |

Dam unraced sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 3¼m) Minella For Steak. 150/1, well beaten in Worcester bumper in August. Beaten miles at 150-1 in a Worcester bumper (good) in August and can only be watched. |

7th (4) (12/1 -20%) Happy Harrison |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Happy Harrison 12/1, Blue Bresil gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler Titanium Moon and fairly useful hurdler Petite Amadee. Yard 2-33 in bumpers in last five seasons and he could be a longer-term prospect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LITTLE WATSON won a bumper on his racecourse debut for Nigel Twiston-Davies in May and was sold shortly after before moving to the Suzy Smith stable. He was beaten less than a length by the odds-on favourite over this C&D on his sole outing since and, if he improves again, then he could go one better today. Tony Joe makes his debut and has the pedigree as a son of Westerner but he may be better over further, while Remus showed glimmers of ability on his debut.
TONY JOE makes stacks of appeal on paper as a half-brother to Ahoy Senor and from a yard that makes hay in these races, so he could have the measure of the penalised Little Watson. Benmore is another newcomer to note.
The vote goes to LITTLE WATSON, who won on his debut in May and was only narrowly denied under a penalty over C&D on recent return.

1st (2) (1/3 +25%) Jonbon |
1/3(+25%) | (2) Jonbon 1/3, Top-class chaser who has won 9 of his 11 starts over fences. Enjoyed a near-flawless campaign last term, which started with a clear-cut victory in this race (beat the re-opposing Edwardstone by 9½ lengths) and culminated with a terrific display in the Celebration Chase at Sandown. Hard to oppose. Overall record of 15-18 includes a win in this race last year; highly respected as usual. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (12/1 -33%) Boothill |
12/1(-33%) | (3) Boothill 12/1, Grade 2 winner as a novice and further progress when landing valuable back-to-back Ascot handicaps last winter. Back on track following a couple of falls when 7¼ lengths fourth to Jonbon at Sandown on final run of last term, finishing just over 3 lengths behind Edwardstone. Has undergone a wind op. Behind a couple of these rivals in Sandown G1 when last seen; had wind surgery since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 +0%) Edwardstone |
9/2(+0%) | (1) Edwardstone 9/2, Classy chaser who landed the Arkle over C&D at the 2022 Festival. Back to his best under a change of tactics (made all) when bolting up in the Game Spirit at Newbury in February but he's been beaten by Jonbon on each of their 3 previous meetings, including in this race last year. Beaten three times by Jonbon last term but a return to front-running tactics may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (16/1 +36%) Unexpected Party |
16/1(+36%) | (4) Unexpected Party 16/1, Enjoyed his finest hour to date when landing the C&D Grand Annual at the Festival in March. Didn't do much wrong when second in a fairly valuable 4-runner graduation chase at Carlisle on Monday but he faces a tall order on these terms. Won last season's Grand Annual; second at Carlisle four days ago; this is harder. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Already installed as favourite for the Champion Chase next March, big things are expected of JONBON this campaign as he looks to build on a brace of Grade 1 victories in the spring. A winner of nine of his 11 starts over the larger obstacles, it is difficult to look past Nicky Henderson's stable star as Edwardstone aims to close the almost 10-length gap between them in this contest last year. The son of Kayf Tara could be dangerous if left to an easy lead, though, while Boothill looks most likely to capitalise on the back of wind surgery if those two falter.
It's hard to look beyond JONBON, who has few peers at up to 2½m over fences and he beat Edwardstone on each of their three meetings last term, including on his reappearance in this race and final start of that campaign in the Celebration Chase at Sandown. Boothill, who was a place behind Edwardstone in the latter race, is an appealing option for forecast purposes given his excellent record when fresh.
At the likely prices, a chance is taken that EDWARDSTONE can finally beat Jonbon who commands the usual respect all the same.

15/2(+12%) | (5) Halfway House Lad 15/2, Still looking for first success and wasn't on his game when sixth at Bangor 6 months ago. Others make more appeal. May prove himself as a stayer if keeping the mistakes at bay; has received wind surgery.. |

|U| (1) (2/1 +0%) Home Sweet Highway |
2/1(+0%) | (1) Home Sweet Highway 2/1, Confirmed previous promise over hurdles when off the mark at Bangor (23f) in June. Not a convincing chaser as yet, below form on his last couple of starts, but he is on a feasible mark. Easiest task to date over fences, but will need to jump better to capitalise; down 3lb.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (8/13 +100%) Kingofthegame |
8/13(+100%) | (4) Kingofthegame 8/13, Ex-pointer who, following a quick switch to chasing, has shown encouragement the last twice, notably when a strong-finishing third at Kelso 20 days ago. Likely to open his account upped in trip. Good third at Kelso latest (2m1f); mark unchanged; could well come good at 3m yet.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (33/1 +0%) Hey Brother |
33/1(+0%) | (2) Hey Brother 33/1, First run since leaving Jedd O'Keeffe when 100/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Hexham (24.2f, good) 42 days ago, not fluent again 5 out. Plenty to prove on the back of that. Player on form of June's Uttoxeter second (3m, good); poor stable debut last month.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Kingofthegame took a step forward from his chasing debut to make the frame at Kelso, but stepping up in trip here is a slight concern. Therefore, it may pay to side with HOME SWEET HIGHWAY, who was admittedly well beaten into third at Carlisle but now drops in class off a 3lb lower mark. Donald McCain's charge makes only his fourth chase start and could be the one to beat, while Halfway House Lad also has a squeak.
KINGOFTHEGAME looked ahead of this mark when finishing well into third at Kelso last time and most of his rivals have something to prove, so he's the obvious choice to take this. Home Sweet Highway is probably the main danger from a handicapping perspective but needs to step up on his last couple of efforts.
Assuming they see out this stayers' trip and cut out the errors, KINGOFTHEGAME can lead home Halfway House Lad.

10/1(+29%) | (7) Cozone 10/1, Latest win in hurdle at Clonmel in October. 20/1, creditable third of 20 in handicap hurdle at Cork (20f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Back down in trip. Tongue strap back on. Each-way claims. Won a 2m4f claimer at Clonmel last month, not a bad run at Cork latest, this trip a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (15/2 +25%) Banana Three |
15/2(+25%) | (1) Banana Three 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Fairly useful winner at 12f on flat. Creditable seventh of 18 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (16.9f, good to soft, 33/1) 13 days ago. Others more persuasive. Promise on all four starts over hurdles, not disgraced on handicap bow, place chance. |

20/1(0%) | (12) Arthur's Victory 20/1, Sixteenth of 20 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, soft, 25/1) 24 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Respectable on last hurdle outing. Others more appealing. Shaped okay at Fairyhouse last month, poor on the Flat latest, needs more to win. |

5th (11) (25/1 +0%) Ricky Langford |
25/1(+0%) | (11) Ricky Langford 25/1, Moody sort. Latest win in chase at Downpatrick in August. 28/1, fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Down Royal (16.4f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Makes limited appeal. Ran okay over fences on latest, poor last run over hurdles, may need help from handicapper. |

Remains feasibly treated and must enter calculations. Up 8lb for winning at Wexford on latest, a career best will be needed to follow up. |

7th (10) (8/1 +33%) Sayitfirst |
8/1(+33%) | (10) Sayitfirst 8/1, Latest win in hurdle at Roscommon in September. 14/1, creditable 5¾ lengths fourth of 17 to Jake Peter in handicap hurdle at Cork (16.3f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Looks competitive on form. In-form mare, won at Roscommon in September, placed last three runs, thereabouts again. |

8th (8) (16/1 +20%) Burren Song |
16/1(+20%) | (8) Burren Song 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Fairly useful winner at 12f on flat. Sixth of 9 in handicap (14/1) at Dundalk (12f) 14 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Poor on last hurdle run. Flat winner, promise in maiden hurdles but has struggled in h'caps, others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (6/1 +14%) Luimneach |
6/1(+14%) | (6) Luimneach 6/1, 3/1, creditable 2½ lengths third of 18 to Redcliff Glen in handicap hurdle at Limerick (16.3f, good to soft) 27 days ago. Enters calculations. Two-time winner, has run well since returning from a layoff, should be competitive again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (40/1 -60%) Redcliff Glen |
40/1(-60%) | (9) Redcliff Glen 40/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, well-beaten thirteenth of 17 to Jake Peter in handicap hurdle at Cork (16.3f, good to soft, 18/1) 12 days ago. Work to do. Won at 40-1 on penultimate at Limerick, poor in follow up attempt, watch the market. |

10th (2) (7/2 +42%) Jake Peter |
7/2(+42%) | (2) Jake Peter 7/2, Back to winning ways in this sphere over C&D last month and followed up in 17-runner handicap hurdle at Cork (16.3f, good to soft, 10/1) 12 days ago, comfortably. 9 lb higher now but looks sure to go well again. Dual-purpose, on a hat-trick after wins here and at Cork, career best needed off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (12/1 -50%) Gwan Tadhg |
12/1(-50%) | (4) Gwan Tadhg 12/1, Three-time winner last term who got back on the up when good third of 11 in handicap hurdle (11/1) at Tramore (16f, good to soft) in May. Can go well fresh so merits consideration. Progressed in h'caps last year; solid effort when last seen, goes well fresh, chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The in-form JAKE PETER can complete a hat-trick for trainer Mark Cahill. A C&D winner last month, the veteran followed up with a commanding success at Cork last time. Best on a sound surface, the gelding has been fortunate that the weather remains dry and another bold showing likely beckons. Vischio is unquestionably well handicapped over hurdles although the mare can sometimes ruin her chances at the start. If getting away on terms, the seven-year-old looks one of the more likely types in a competitive affair. The consistent Luimneach is also of interest.
JAKE PETER arrives in fine form and ought to have conditions to suit once more. He may be able to complete the hat-trick. Gwan Tadhg and Inchiquin Star head the list of dangers.
VISCHIO has run well in three of her last four, trip and ground will suit and she was just denied on her last visit to this track.

2/13(+38%) | (3) Dance And Glance 2/13, Promise in a big-field Newbury bumper on debut and duly improved to win a similar race at Plumpton (tongue tied) in May. Starts out over hurdles in a very winnable race. Won the second of two bumpers; an obvious candidate on hurdles debut.. |

2nd (1) (13/2 +59%) Bennettshill |
13/2(+59%) | (1) Bennettshill 13/2, Irish point winner in 2023 but pulled up on Bangor hurdle debut some 18 months later. 18-1, pulled up on hurdles debut at Bangor (2m, soft); good ground could suit better. |

3rd (2) (16/1 -357%) Classical Sting |
16/1(-357%) | (2) Classical Sting 16/1, The betting is probably the best guide to expectations on debut but there's a lot of stamina in his pedigree so he may require longer trips than this. Dam, runner-up in her only point start, is sister to two smart jumps winners; check market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (50/1 +0%) Dunstall Angel |
50/1(+0%) | (5) Dunstall Angel 50/1, Glimmers of ability in a couple of bumpers last season but pulled up on Wetherby hurdle debut and reappearance a fortnight ago. Well beaten in two bumpers and pulled up on her recent hurdles debut at Wetherby.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
In a very small field, there is every chance that Anthony Honeyball has found a suitable opportunity for Plumpton bumper winner DANCE AND GLANCE to get off the mark on his first attempt over hurdles. He made all when last seen in May and with Richie McLernon keeping the ride, he could try the same tactics here. Bennettshill pulled up on his debut under NH rules at Bangor but did win his point-to-point at Ballingarry and can only improve, while newcomer Classical Sting is one to watch in the betting.
This looks a good chance for Plumpton bumper winner DANCE AND GLANCE to make a successful start to his hurdle career, with Classical Sting best of the rest.
Bennettshill may do better back on good ground but bumper winner DANCE AND GLANCE has good claims now hurdling.

In-the-frame all 4 starts since, latterly when second at Haras du Pin (25.8f) 33 days ago. Long way out of weights here but record in this discipline a positive. 5/1(-11%) | (4) Mister Coffey 5/1, Frustratingly still without a win in this sphere but did run well on second start of last season when runner-up at Doncaster in December. Below best with cheekpieces fitted final 2 starts (discarded here) but he could be the type to take to the demands of this sort of race. 0-13 over fences but last season's Doncaster second was among his best form; a possible. |

3rd (9) (33/1 -32%) Back On The Lash |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Back On The Lash 33/1, Dual Cross-Country winner here but didn't have much spark about him last season and he never threatened in amateur riders' chase here on return from 5 months off in October. Return to this discipline needs to spark a revival but another operating from miles out of the weights. Twice a winner on this cross-country course but has been badly out of form for a while. |

4th (6) (33/1 -175%) Statuario |
33/1(-175%) | (6) Statuario 33/1, Enhanced excellent Perth record with another brace of small-field wins in May/June. Cracking third in Summer Plate next start and given a break following a couple of lesser efforts in August/September. However, work to do from out of weights here. In prime form in spring/summer but has gone off boil lately; 7lb wrong; unraced beyond 3m. |

13/2(+46%) | (5) Slipway 13/2, Strong stayer who dispelled a couple of low-key efforts when resuming winning ways at Kempton (3m) in March. Well held in Bet365 Gold Cup on final start in April but returns to action with his yard in rude health and will have no issues with this trip. 4-12 over fences but has become very inconsistent; 4lb wrong for cross-country debut. |

6th (3) (9/1 -29%) Busselton |
9/1(-29%) | (3) Busselton 9/1, Last success over jumps came in 2022 Kerry National but resumed winning ways with blinkers refitted on Flat at Galway (16.5f) in July. Hasn't been in same form either start on Flat/over fences since though, and switch to this discipline needs to perk him up. Very useful handicap chaser at his best but has regressed; makes cross-country debut. |

7th (7) (17/2 -21%) Fameaftertheglory |
17/2(-21%) | (7) Fameaftertheglory 17/2, Temperamental sort who remains a maiden over jumps but produced one of his better efforts when runner-up in this discipline at Punchestown (24.4f) back in May. 8 lb "wrong" at the weights on return but wouldn't be a great surprise to see him in the frame if putting best foot forward. Placed over C&D last December; 8lb wrong today but still considered each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (9/2 -50%) Conflated |
9/2(-50%) | (1) Conflated 9/2, High-class Irish chaser who emerged with plenty of credit when placed in Ryanair/Melling Chase at Spring Festivals. Unseated at first on return and looked like he'd come on for the run when fifth in the Charlie Hall Chase 2 weeks ago. Intriguing contender with his sights lowered considerably. Didn't fire last time but this top-class chaser will be too good for this field if on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/3 +52%) Tommie Beau |
10/3(+52%) | (2) Tommie Beau 10/3, Credit to connections who landed 3 of his first 4 starts at Cartmel this term nd typically solid efforts from the front have followed, third of 7 in Durham National at Sedgefield (29.2f) 26 days ago. Merits respect from 1 lb lower mark. Game front-runner who stays very well and has been in career-best form this season. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Conflated's presence in this field leaves all but three running from out of the handicap and the dual Grade 1 winner demands respect on his cross country debut, but a chance is taken on the experience of FAMEAFTERTHEGLORY. He represents a Gavin Cromwell stable which has a fantastic recent record at Prestbury Park and he's performed well over the 'banks and hedges' on numerous occasions in the past, including when third over C&D last December. Mister Coffey is interesting on his first start in this discipline, while French raider Sweet David adds further spice to the race.
The fascinating contender here is CONFLATED. Twice placed in Grade 1s (including here) during the spring, Gordon Eliott's high-class chaser should be sharper for what was effectively his reappearance in the Charlie Hall 2 weeks ago and he's of interest provided he sees out the longer trip. Tommie Beau is a highly admirable sort and is feared ahead of returning pair Mister Coffey and Slipway.
Dual Grade 1 winner CONFLATED is in a different league to today's rivals over regulation fences and could be very hard to beat.

1st (3) (11/10 -21%) Hunters Spring |
11/10(-21%) | (3) Hunters Spring 11/10, Nayef filly. Sister to 1¼m winner Stockbridge Tap and half-sister to 7f/1m winner Thewaytothestars. Dam (h127) 2m hurdle winner, also 11f winner on Flat. Yard/jockey won this last year and she's a likely sort on debut. Dam won 1m3f Flat/2m hurdles for same owner; yard gets its share of bumper debut winners.. |

2nd (1) (85/40 +39%) Krugerrand |
85/40(+39%) | (1) Krugerrand 85/40, Ten Sovereigns gelding who offered limited encouragement when fifth of 7 in bumper at Ludlow (15.8f, good to soft) last week, outpaced from early in straight. Should've learnt a good deal from that so is fancied to take a step forward. Outpaced near-6l fifth on last week's Ludlow debut (2m, good); stiffer track may suit.. |

5th (5) (18/1 +45%) Poppys On Fire |
18/1(+45%) | (5) Poppys On Fire 18/1, Gleneagles filly who was a cheap purchase given her good Flat pedigree and achieved nothing when tailed-off last of 8 in bumper at Aintree (17f, good) last week. Will need to leave that well behind. Appealingly bred but beat nothing home on last weekend's debut; may need more time.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Krugerrand finished a creditable fifth on his debut at Ludlow and would have learnt a great deal from that experience, but newcomer HUNTERS SPRING makes more appeal. The daughter of Nayef is related to plenty of winners and it would be no surprise to see her score on her first start for powerful connections. Any market confidence behind Mahpenny would be interesting.
Lucinda Russell and Conner McCann combined to win this with a debutante last year and they can repeat the trick with HUNTERS SPRING, who is one of the few in the field with a NH pedigree. Krugerrand offered limited encouragement when fifth in a Ludlow bumper last week, but he can provide most resistance to the selection, with One More Bottle rounding off the shortlist.
From a yard which can ready bumper newcomers of any age, HUNTERS SPRING is preferred to Ludlow fifth Krugerrand.

2/5(+10%) | (3) Sounds Victorius 2/5, Course bumper winner in February. Fourth in Grade 1 events a the Cheltenham and Punchestown Festivals in the spring. Likely to be very hard to beat on hurdle debut. Top yard, classy Grade 1 bumper form here and at Cheltenham last season, the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (7/2 +86%) The Diddler |
7/2(+86%) | (8) The Diddler 7/2, Modest hurdler. Creditable third of 9 in maiden at Cork (20.4f, good) 33 days ago, faring best of those held up. Vulnerable to anything with potential. Placed in both starts over hurdles, good ground fine, looks the main danger. |

66/1(-164%) | (6) Committee Meeting 66/1, Successful on second of 2 starts in points (Apr 13). The betting should help guide to expectations now hurdling. Won a point-to-point at Ballycrystal, form looks ordinary, watch on Rules debut. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SOUNDS VICTORIUS, a course bumper winner before subsequently finishing fourth in Grade 1 bumpers at both Cheltenham and the festival here, can make a winning debut over hurdles. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding, who has the potential to take high rank in the novice hurdle division this season, should have too much class for these opponents. The Diddler, who has reached the frame on both starts over hurdles so far, has to rate the main danger. Given her previous experience of jumping, the six-year-old mare looks the one for second, ahead of Limerick bumper winner The Dancing Tree.
It's very hard to ignore the claims of smart bumper performer SOUNDS VICTORIUS now hurdling for the Willie Mullins team. What threat there is may come from fellow bumper winner and hurdle newcomer The Dancing Tree.
This looks a good opportunity for the classy bumper peformer SOUNDS VICTORIOUS to get off the mark on his hurdling debut.

2nd (4) (15/8 +63%) Toonagh Warrior |
15/8(+63%) | (4) Toonagh Warrior 15/8, Wetherby novice winner last November. Mostly ran with credit in handicaps later in the season and should be sharper for last month's course reappearance. Worth chancing in first-time cheekpieces. Largely consistent last season and ran okay on reappearance outing; cheekpieces now added. |

14/1(+44%) | (1) Isthebaropen 14/1, Veteran who failed to build on a mildly encouraging run at Worcester in September when down the field at Wetherby (3m) last month. Not at best on any of three appearances since returning from one-year absence in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (20/1 -67%) Rehill Relic |
20/1(-67%) | (7) Rehill Relic 20/1, Point winner who showed promise in bumpers/novice hurdles for this yard last season. Well beaten on Exeter handicap debut and reappearance 24 days but he probably needed the run. Well beaten on seasonal/handicap debut but may yet deliver on novice promise. |

8th (8) (40/1 +0%) Charlie My Boy |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (9/2 -80%) Barrons Land |
9/2(-80%) | (5) Barrons Land 9/2, Front-runner who gained a fourth success of a very productive first half of the season when proving a length too strong for a subsequent winner at Sedgefield at the start of October. Has since switched from Donald McCain to Laura Horsfall. Likely still on a workable mark. Four wins for Donald McCain this season; can go well from the front again on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The progressive BARRONS LAND arrives here on the back of two victories and a 5lb rise for the most recent of those wins may not be enough to stop her from making a winning debut for these connections. Thankyourluckystar also scored on his latest outing and has to be of interest on his return, while Toonagh Warrior is the pick of the remainder.
TOONAGH WARRIOR could be spot on for this with his reappearance behind him and gets the vote in first-time headgear. Alastair Ralph has his team in form so Thankyourluckystar rates a possible threat on his first outing since scoring at Worcester in June. The prolific Barrons Land has changed stables since his latest win but still merits respect.
This can go to TOONAGH WARRIOR (nap), who shaped well on his recent seasonal debut, has slipped to a good mark and sports new headgear.

Open to further improvement. 3-3 under rules after winning over 2m4f here last month; very highly regarded. |

2nd (1) (5/6 +52%) Valgrand |
5/6(+52%) | (1) Valgrand 5/6, Useful in bumpers and 3 from 3 over hurdles, posting a borderline smart performance in 6-runner Grade 2 here (16.4f) 3 weeks ago. Up in trip and open to further improvement. Made it 3-3 over hurdles with a fautless wide-margin success here three weeks ago. |

3rd (5) (11/2 +21%) Gale Mahler |
11/2(+21%) | (5) Gale Mahler 11/2, Most progressive and likeable mare, making it 6 wins on the spin (including bumpers) in 8-runner listed hurdle at Galway (2m) in July. No match for Valgrand here 12 weeks later but probably didn't give her true running. Back up in trip. Improving mare but was hammered by Valgrand here last time; returns to further. |

Has plenty more on her plate up in grade, however. First-time tongue-tie and over 2m3f when producing a career best at Chepstow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (150/1 -127%) Grandad's Cap |
150/1(-127%) | (3) Grandad's Cap 150/1, Very stiff task here and looks one for the longer term. Shaped okay in a 2m novice at Wetherby but this still looks a big ask on the back of that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
VALGRAND was mightily impressive when beating the reopposing Gale Mahler by 17 lengths over an extended 2m here last month and it's hard to see how the latter can reverse that form being just 5lb better off at these weights. Dan Skelton's charge could potentially improve again for stretching out in distance and he is fancied to get the better of Potters Charm, who justified favouritism when winning over 2m4f on the same card here three weeks ago. The Twiston-Davies runner certainly wasn't as attractive on the eye, making a number of mistakes on the way round, and the selection could be away and gone if he doesn't jump with more fluency.
VALGRAND and Potters Charm put their unbeaten records in this sphere on the line, with preference for the former, who produced a borderline smart performance when scoring in an excellent time here 3 weeks ago. Gale Mahler was no match for the selection on that occasion but probably didn't give her true running and can at least make more of an impact if returning to her Galway form.
The manner in which VALGRAND dominated here last month left a deep impression. Potters Charm is 3-3 under rules and hard to fault.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A winner at Fairyhouse earlier this month, DELIAS PET followed up at Gowran Park last week and the daughter of Stowaway could be hard to beat. Tommies Call is a definite threat given the manner in which he opened his account last time. Although now 8lb higher, the Jarlath Fahey-trained gelding should not be discounted. Dee's Getaway is another that comes into this race on the back of a victory and the four-year-old has more scope for improvement than most of these.
KILMURRY JJ ran as well as he's ever done over hurdles when third at Fairyhouse recently and is taken to build on that and deny Delias Pet the hat-trick. Klassman was third when Tim Doyle's mare gained the first of her 2 wins and also makes the shortlist along with recent Fairyhouse scorer Tommies Call.
Preference is for KLASSMAN who was unlucky not to get closer to Delias Pet at Fairyhouse and he may be able to turn that form around.

6th (3) (18/1 +64%) Scorsese |
18/1(+64%) | (3) Scorsese 18/1, Showed fair form in maiden hurdles in Ireland but has been soundly beaten for current yard. Tried in cheekpieces now. Uncompetitive in four handicaps for this yard and now goes in cheekpieces. |

|PU| (7) (20/1 +20%) Lightening Gesture |
20/1(+20%) | (7) Lightening Gesture 20/1, Fair Flat winner who hasn't stood much racing since his juvenile days and was pulled up at Huntingdon last month, so left with a bit to prove. Fairly treated on his placed efforts should he give himself a chance by settling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (100/1 -100%) Caughtinaspell |
100/1(-100%) | (6) Caughtinaspell 100/1, Little to get excited about in 5 outings for Michael Kennedy in Ireland and fared no better in two starts for Olly Murphy. Ex-Irish maiden; lasted just two races with Olly Murphy; others safer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
OFFICER OF STATE had plenty in hand when making a winning handicap debut at Fontwell a week ago and the five-year-old is very hard to oppose as he is 15lb well in here, despite a 7lb penalty. However, Laser Focus bolted up at Huntingdon on Tuesday and cannot be discounted off the same mark, while Martalite edges out Zoran to be the pick of the remainder.
OFFICER OF STATE and Laser Focus both scored with plenty in hand last time and should be able to feature once again, although the former makes more appeal given how much handicapping scope he has based on Flat form. Zoran is the best of the remainder returning to hurdling.
It's hard to get away from OFFICER OF STATE who made a mockery of his initial mark last week. He's essentially off the same mark here.

1st (4) (11/2 +8%) Wreckless Eric |
11/2(+8%) | (4) Wreckless Eric 11/2, Raced around 2m, winning a juvenile and handicap for Ben Pauling in the spring. Held every chance when falling 2 out in Wincanton handicap on reappearance and looks one to keep on side for his in-form new yard. Looked poised to challenge before falling on seasonal/stable debut; remains of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (50/1 -150%) Cavern Club |
50/1(-150%) | (10) Cavern Club 50/1, Fairly useful Flat winner and made a successful start over hurdles at Cartmel (17f) in July. Runner-up under a penalty at Stratford in September but well-beaten fourth on Worcester handicap debut later that month. The cheekpieces he wore regularly on the Flat go on for the first time over hurdles. Easily won weak maiden in the summer but was soundly beaten on handicap debut in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/1 +0%) Balhambar |
9/1(+0%) | (5) Balhambar 9/1, Fairly useful on the Flat for Michael Bell and much improved over hurdles since handicapping, winning at Ludlow and Bangor in April. Warmed up for this with a creditable third on the Flat at Newbury last month. Has cheekpieces and a tongue tie combined for the first time. Considered. Very progressive towards end of last season and made pleasing return on Flat last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (7/2 +30%) Fasol |
7/2(+30%) | (11) Fasol 7/2, Very useful winning stayer on Flat in France. Promise when placed twice in maiden hurdles at Newbury and Kempton earlier in the year. Respectable fourth in Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot when last seen in June. Dangerously well treated on Flat ability on handicap hurdle debut. Smart stayer on the Flat when trained in France and very unexposed over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/2 +45%) Clap Of Thunder |
11/2(+45%) | (2) Clap Of Thunder 11/2, Placed on 3 of 4 starts in bumpers last season. Struck at the second time of asking over hurdles when readily seeing off 5 rivals in a 2m Ascot novice 13 days ago. Interesting making a quick switch to handicaps. Quite stylish winner at Ascot this month, his second hurdling start; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (100/1 -203%) Razzle Dazzle Boy |
100/1(-203%) | (14) Razzle Dazzle Boy 100/1, Promising second of 11 in 2m Uttoxeter novice (soft) in July but not in the same form at Newton Abbot the following month. Couldn't have been found a much tougher introduction to handicaps. Placed on last two hurdling starts but opening handicap mark demands improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (10/1 -11%) Belgoprince |
10/1(-11%) | (12) Belgoprince 10/1, Four-time Flat winner. 0-12 over hurdles but ran well to be placed in a couple of handicaps over the summer and his stable's runners over here always merit respect. 0-12 over hurdles; below form on last two Flat starts; others have more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (28/1 -75%) Bright Legend |
28/1(-75%) | (1) Bright Legend 28/1, Fairly useful on the Flat and over hurdles. Back on form when third in a 2m handicap hurdle at Listowel in September and has run creditably on the Flat since. 0-6 over hurdles but ran well when placed in Listed handicap in September; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (16/1 -14%) Chutzpal |
16/1(-14%) | (3) Chutzpal 16/1, Completed a cross-code hat-trick over the summer, the last 2 wins coming in handicap hurdles. Possibly unsuited by rain-softened ground when below-form third in Killarney novice last month and no surprise were he to resume his progression now. Below form last month but has generally done very well for new stable since the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (6/1 +33%) Letterston Lily |
6/1(+33%) | (6) Letterston Lily 6/1, Bumper winner at the third attempt and also landed 2 of her first 3 starts over hurdles. Even better form when reaching the frame in 2½m handicaps since (here last time) but isn't sure to benefit from this return to a shorter trip. Wears first-time cheekpieces. Dual novice winner who has made the frame in two competitive 2m4f handicaps this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (12/1 -9%) Golden Maverick |
12/1(-9%) | (7) Golden Maverick 12/1, Fairly useful 5-time winner on the Flat for Ian Williams and has taken well to hurdling for this yard, winning a 2m Haydock juvenile and 17.5f Musselburgh handicap in the spring. Creditable second at Hereford when last seen in May and has the potential for even better this winter. Won quite valuable series final for juveniles in April; needs to kick on again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (14/1 +44%) Callin Baton Rouge |
14/1(+44%) | (8) Callin Baton Rouge 14/1, Much improved for this yard, completing a handicap hurdle hat-trick over the summer. However, had winning run ended in better company here 3 weeks ago and this looks even tougher if anything. Won first three races for this stable but could not land a telling blow here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (13) (22/1 +45%) Shinji |
22/1(+45%) | (13) Shinji 22/1, Off the mark in 2m Southwell novice handicap in June and good second at Newton Abbot a fortnight later. Seemed stretched by 21f when fifth at Ludlow on recent return from a break, shaping as if in good form. Has remained in good nick since low-grade win in June but others have stronger form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (9) (14/1 -27%) Can't Resist It |
14/1(-27%) | (9) Can't Resist It 14/1, Fair form in bumpers in Ireland. Promising efforts when placed in maiden hurdles at Huntingdon and Market Rasen for Fergal O'Brien earlier in the year. Makes a quick switch to handicaps on return. Likely capable of better. Placed in maiden hurdles on first two stable starts; has a lot more on his plate here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Fasol is unexposed with only two hurdle starts under his belt and the 100-rated Flat performer is sure to have plenty of supporters on his handicap debut, but BALHAMBAR gets the vote representing the shrewd Harry Derham stable. He has progressed with each hurdle start since joining this yard, chasing home subsequent easy Swinton Hurdle winner Pickanumber last time, and a recent pipe-opener on the Flat should have put him spot on for this assignment. Clap Of Thunder, Belgoprince and Model Approach are others to note.
WRECKLESS ERIC looked menacing when coming down at the second last on his Wincanton reappearance and could prove the answer with the O'Neill stable going well. Balhambar, an improver in handicap hurdles in the spring, arrives fit from a run on the Flat last month and heads the many dangers along with low-mileage handicap newcomers Fasol, Can't Resist It and Clap of Thunder.
Preference is for CLAP OF THUNDER, who needed only to be pushed out to win a recent Ascot novice and looks well handicapped.

8/1(+20%) | (6) Evoluir 8/1, Won at Southwell in October. Only sixth of 9 for his new yard in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 16/1) 8 days ago so needs to step forward. Not at best on recent stable debut at Newcastle; earlier Southwell win gives him a shout. |

8th (5) (22/1 -144%) Q Twenty Boy |
22/1(-144%) | (5) Q Twenty Boy 22/1, 3-time C&D winner. Creditable second of 8 in handicap (11/1) at Chelmsford City (6f) 34 days ago. Needs considering once more. Conditions to suit and comes here on the back of a solid effort at Chelmsford; tricky draw. |

8/1(-45%) | (3) Doves Of Peace 8/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in October. 9/2, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 34 days ago. Can make presence felt. Two 6f wins (one here) since August; latest fourth needs bettering but each-way claims. |

10th (9) (50/1 -150%) Cheese The One |
50/1(-150%) | (9) Cheese The One 50/1, 9/2, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (8f), finding test too much. Off 10 months. Cheekpieces back on. Can give a good account if ready to roll. 7f win in August 2023; usually runs over further and drawn wide after a ten-month absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (66/1 -32%) Spiritual Pursuit |
66/1(-32%) | (2) Spiritual Pursuit 66/1, Blinkered for 1st time, eighth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f, 80/1) 20 days ago. Back up in trip. Handicap mark in freefall; poor form for new yard but worth a market check. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Kapparis Kid could go well dropping back in trip after his recent Newcastle fourth, but BEAUZON may have his measure. A C&D winner on Monday and carrying a 5lb penalty, the five-year-old has won at this venue six times off marks up to 69, suggesting he can follow up. Doves Of Peace and Q Twenty Boy are others to consider.
BEAUZON bagged his sixth C&D success recently and looks weighted to go in once more under a penalty. Q Twenty Boy also has an excellent record round here and is feared most ahead of Doves of Peace and Cheese The One.
Everything looks in place for another big run from BEAUZON and he can defy his penalty. Kapparis Kid is feared most.

EAST HAMPTON sets a good standard here off a mark of 90. The David Marnane-trained colt had some nice runs in hot maidens earlier in the campaign before opening his account at the Curragh last month. Connections said after his victory that he had matured a lot after a break and he looks like a nice sprinting prospect. Sounds Like A Plan was a good winner on his debut at Navan back in May, beating a smart horse in Tunbridge Wells. He commands respect but his absence since then would be a slight concern. The 84-rated maiden Cradle Of Love gets a nice chunk of weight, and has placed form here, so has to be considered.
Plenty in with a squeak but the vote goes to CRADLE OF LOVE, who is easily the most experienced of these and ran to a fairly useful level when narrowly denied here on her penultimate start. East Hampton confirmed previous promise returning from a break when scoring at the Curragh last month so he can provide most resistance, with another couple of previous winners Sounds Like A Plan and Dark Ace both fancied to be in the mix, too.
Impressive Navan winner SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN could take plenty of beating on his return to action

3/1(+14%) | (7) Port Hedland 3/1, 4/1, respectable fourth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 51 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Can make his presence felt. 0-7 but has shown promise and today's step up to 7f could spark improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (22/1 -83%) Alfheim |
22/1(-83%) | (9) Alfheim 22/1, 40/1 and blinkered for 1st time, last of 7 in handicap at Naas (10.4f, good to soft) 33 days ago. Significantly down in trip. Makes tapeta/ yard debut (formerly with Jessica Harrington) and one to consider. Worth a market check. No solid form over further in Ireland; big drop in trip on stable debut; drawn wide. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Alfheim is noted making her first start for George Boughey after arriving from Ireland, but she will need to improve after finishing last at Naas in October. Buttercross Flyer showed improvement when third at Newcastle last time out, but HAVANA FORCE is most interesting. Six placed efforts earlier in her career suggest she has ability, and first-time blinkers may see her score.
Lots with chances and the handily-weighted AUTUMN ROSE could prove the answer on the back of her good C&D sixth last time out. Buttercross Flyer can also have a say in her bid to end a lengthy losing sequence, with George Boughey's new recruit Alfheim another to consider, especially if the market vibes are positive.
Unreal Connection is better than she showed last week but PORT HEDLAND may be the answer now he moves up in distance.

Thirteenth of 17 in handicap at the Curragh (5f, good to soft, 16/1) 29 days ago. Looks vulnerable. Won here on penultimate start, soft ground against him since; respected despite wide draw. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MEHMAN ran on well over 7f here last time after having plenty to do turning for home. He will have no issue dropping back to 6f now and Nicola Burns looks very good value for her 10lb claim. Off a mark of 75, he should be capable of gaining a fourth win around here. Dontspoilasale ran well on his return to this venue a fortnight ago, when third to Daamberdiplomat, and off a 2lb lower mark he's entitled to be a big player. Moltophino was a decent second at Naas last time and is another to consider.
JERED MADDOX resumed winning ways at Laytown last time and, still on a fair mark, he is taken to follow up back at a course where he has scored seven times in the past. Having returned to form when third over this C&D a fortnight ago, Dontspoilasale gets the nod for forecast purposes ahead of Army of India and Mehman.
Plenty with chances but MEHMAN looks a strong candidate, having been left with plenty to do when upped in trip last time

50/1(+38%) | (5) Prima Diva 50/1, Both starts over 7f at Kempton, hinting at ability last time. Probably more one for handicaps after this. Well held at massive prices in two 7f Kempton events last month; others preferred. |

100/1(-203%) | (3) Bird About Town 100/1, Cityscape filly. Dam, 1¼m-1½m winner, half-sister to smart winner (mainly in US) up to 1m Birdlover. A watching brief is the percentage call on debut. Yard 29% with 2yos on AW this year and needs checking in market on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
An interesting race where the comfortable Kempton winner American Gal will attempt to give 7lb or more to all of her rivals, which may be a big ask barring plenty of improvement. Tempted showed better form when fourth at Southwell last month and could be interesting, but so is TRUSTED ADVISOR. The daughter of Ulysses showed signs of inexperience on her C&D debut before keeping on into fifth, and she could be the one they all have to beat if improving for that experience.
AMERICAN GAL was quite a taking winner on her 1m Kempton debut 16 days ago and can defy a penalty with improvement likely. The chief threat may come from Trusted Advisor and Tempted unless the betting speaks in the favour of Andrew Balding newcomer Solar Pass.
Preference is for AMERICAN GAL, who justified support in good style on her Kempton debut last month and looks a useful prospect.

Sort yard do well with in handicaps and no surprise to see an improved showing. Initial turf promise didn't materialise but potential for more on AW/handicap debut. |

Cheekpieces/tongue tie now the headgear of choice. Last month's handicap debut at Gowran leaves him with plenty to find; tongue-tie tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (8/1 +20%) Bad Timing |
8/1(+20%) | (9) Bad Timing 8/1, Mehmas filly who showed little in trio of quick-fire maidens at up to 6f in September. Up markedly in trip for handicap debut and she's in good hands, so one to monitor in the betting for positive vibes. Three sprint turf runs in September didn't offer much; step up in trip for AW/handicap bow. |

12th (3) (9/2 +10%) Great Mover |
9/2(+10%) | (3) Great Mover 9/2, Respectable third of 12 in nursery (3/1) at Bellewstown (7.9f, good to soft) 43 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Enters calculations. Solid turf runs at this trip of late; should be thereabouts if handling the surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (66/1 -230%) Shangar |
66/1(-230%) | (11) Shangar 66/1, Soldier's Call filly who again showed little on qualifying run when tenth of 12 in maiden at this course (6f, 125/1) 16 days ago, slowly away and always behind. Progress required now attentions switch to nurseries. Never sighted in three maidens; back up in trip for handicap debut and hard to fancy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MIDNIGHT STAGGER may be able to follow up on his victory here early last month. The Galileo Gold gelding was a bit green when hitting the front then, lugging to his left in the closing stages, and was probably value for a bit more than his winning margin of half a length. He is just 3lb higher now and cheekpieces are fitted. Great Mover has been placed on her last two outings and looks like the obvious danger on her all-weather debut. Ja'marr ran well for a long way in a decent Curragh maiden last time and could be a player now off a mark of 68 on his handicap debut.
This looks wide open and it could pay to side with ADRIENNE, who looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind and the application of a first-time visor could well put an extra edge on her. Ja'marr is another entitled to hold more chance now handicapping and is a threat. Recent course winner Midnight Stagger and Great Mover can also figure.
Recent winner Midnight Stagger and the consistent maiden Great Mover demand respect but a chance is taken on ADRIENNE

8/1(-14%) | (6) Spirit Of Jura 8/1, 20/1, sixth of 8 in novice at Redcar (9f, heavy) on debut 18 days ago. Should have more to offer. Made a low-key start at a biggish price at Redcar and she needs plenty of progress here. |

3rd (4) (7/2 +13%) Luisa |
7/2(+13%) | (4) Luisa 7/2, 6/1, seventh of 10 in maiden at Leicester (1m, heavy) on debut 38 days ago. Could prove a different proposition at the second time of asking. Well held at Leicester (6-1) but that was on heavy and she could show a lot more this time. |

4th (7) (7/1 +50%) Thamna |
7/1(+50%) | (7) Thamna 7/1, Twice-raced maiden. Went backwards from debut when seventh of 8 in novice (16/1) at Southwell (6f) 29 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Down the field in two runs on Tapeta (7f/6f) this autumn and others are preferred. |

33/1(-18%) | (2) Arizona Indi 33/1, 28/1, eleventh of 13 in novice at Kempton (7f) on debut 30 days ago. Up in trip. Didn't show much on 7f Kempton debut last month and needs to leave that form miles behind. |

6th (3) (16/1 -88%) Latona |

4/1(+20%) | (8) Princess Qajar 4/1, 33/1, showed ability amidst greenness when 3½ lengths fourth of 9 to Eazy On The Eye on C&D debut 3 weeks ago. May do better and meets Heather Main's charge on 7 lb better terms this time. Promising fourth behind Eazy On The Eye over C&D on recent debut and she's in the mix. |

8th (9) (20/1 +29%) Saxon Spirit |
20/1(+29%) | (9) Saxon Spirit 20/1, Foaled March 24. 11,000 gns Saxon Warrior half-sister to 2-y-o 5f winner Eternal Class. Dam unraced half-sister to smart winner up to 1¼m (stayed 1½m) Lady of Dubai. Yard 0-22 with 2yos this year and is best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (66/1 -32%) Sexee Eyes |
66/1(-32%) | (5) Sexee Eyes 66/1, Waldgeist filly. Closely related to useful 8.6f-1¼m winner Dance Jupiter and half-sister to several winners, including winner in Spain up to 1¾m Domi Go. The stable has had a first-time-out 2-y-o winner this year so worth a precautionary betting check. 8,000euros foal; yard 1-14 with 2yos this year and she could be one for later on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Eazy On The Eye has to be respected having got off the mark over C&D three weeks ago, but a 7lb penalty could make her vulnerable. With that in mind, preference is for PRINCESS QAJAR, who was making her debut when filling fourth place that day and could improve past Eazy On The Eye on these terms. Spirit Of Jura and Thamna are others to consider.
The fact LUISA went off at only 6/1 for her Leicester debut last month suggests better was expected so it wouldn't be a surprise to see her leave that form well behind now. Recent C&D 1-4 Eazy On The Eye and Princess Qajar are unlikely to be far away.
It might be worth sticking with bEAZY ON THE EYE\p, who found plenty of progress with her front-running win over C&D three weeks ago.

Worth considering back at this trip. Killarney nursery winner well held four times since; looking exposed. |

6/1(+33%) | (12) Your Call 6/1, Fifteenth of 16 in nursery (11/2) at Galway (7f, heavy) 18 days ago, folding tamely over 2f out. Previous Gowran second was a solid effort and bounce back rates distinctly possible. Galway run disappointing, contender on previous form if handling this surface. |

33/1(-106%) | (9) Weegeebear 33/1, 7/1, last of 11 in nursery at this course (5f) 21 days ago. Needs to get back on track tackling this significantly longer trip. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Never travelled here on latest; cheekpieces replace blinkers now. |

28/1(-12%) | (8) Whats New 28/1, Soldier's Call colt. Little to shout about in trio of 1m maidens and significant step forward required if he's to figure on nursery debut. Penultimate Thurles run at this trip mildly encouraging; 10lb claimer's first ride. |

3/1(+25%) | (13) Senior Montecristo 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, good third of 14 in nursery at this course (7f, 16/1) 42 days ago. Has good chance on form. Recent third augurs well, providing he stays this extra furlong. |

Makes handicap debut and worth noting if the market spoke in her favour. Some Curragh promise but opening mark still appears on the high side for AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (50/1 -52%) Miss Ariana |
50/1(-52%) | (7) Miss Ariana 50/1, Didn't offer a great deal of promise all 3 starts in maidens at up to 1m on turf in recent months and progress required from what looks a stiff opening mark. Not too much to take from 3 runs, hard to see her having an immediate impact off this mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
POMPANO BEACH looks of interest here off a lowly enough mark of 66 on her second handicap appearance. The Ten Sovereigns filly didn't appear to act around Sligo when last seen in August and a more galloping track should suit. She had run well at Down Royal previously when fourth in a decent enough maiden won by Wizard Of Odds, and looks nicely treated on that form. Senior Montecristo ran a big race when third here over 7f last month and, having been eased 1lb, he has to have a big shout. Your Call ran poorly on heavy ground at Galway last time but has a chance on previous form, and the quicker surface here may suit.
SUNRISEONTHEBOYNE shaped better than the bare result when sixth in a big-field nursery at Galway (7f) 18 days ago and, back at 1m/re-united with the same pilot as when successful at Killarney back in August, he could be worth siding with to build on the promise of that effort. Senior Montecristo, following his good third over 7f here 6 weeks ago, Kitty Bear and Your Call are others to consider.
If staying the extra furlong recent course third SENIOR MONTECRISTO could prove the one to beat

18/1(-50%) | (7) Gogo Yubari 18/1, C&D winner. 5 wins from 13 runs this year. Latest win here in May. 10/1, below form fifth of 10 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good to firm). Off 146 days. Tricky draw to contend with. Flourished in the first half of 2024, winning 5 on AW; back from a break and drawn wide. |

4th (11) (16/1 -146%) Street Life |
16/1(-146%) | (11) Street Life 16/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 18 runs this year. Creditable second of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f, 9/2) 15 days ago. Arrives in good order and should be on the premises again. C&D win last month and then went close at Chelmsford; respected in current form. |

5th (5) (9/1 +10%) Four Adaay |
9/1(+10%) | (5) Four Adaay 9/1, Latest win at Sandown in September. 7/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Nottingham (5f, heavy) 22 days ago, slowly away. Needs to bounce back. Needs to rebound from modest run latest but has good record on AW; strong pace will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (14/1 -17%) Kingwood Queen |
14/1(-17%) | (9) Kingwood Queen 14/1, 5/1, last of 5 in handicap at Ffos Las (5f, good), hanging badly left. Off 128 days. Makes tapeta debut. First run for yard after leaving Ralph Smith. Others have achieved more. Lightly-raced 3yo; absent since last of 5 at Ffos Las in July; drawn widest on yard debut. |

7th (8) (5/1 +29%) Secret Mistral |
5/1(+29%) | (8) Secret Mistral 5/1, 7/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at Haydock (5f, heavy) 28 days ago. Not seen to best effect last time and she's slipped to a handy mark. Front-runner; below her best the last twice but down in weights as a consequence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (6/4 +40%) Strong Johnson |
6/4(+40%) | (1) Strong Johnson 6/4, 11/4, won 10-runner handicap at Newcastle (5f) 8 days ago. Likely to put up another bold showing. Made all at Newcastle last week; 1lb well in under a penalty; other pace to deal with. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (7/1 +18%) Miss Anya |
7/1(+18%) | (2) Miss Anya 7/1, C&D winner. Seventh of 9 in handicap (11/1) at Catterick (5f, good to soft) 66 days ago. Others more persuasive. Well drawn to attack but an easy lead seems unlikely in this field; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (18/1 -140%) Southbank |
18/1(-140%) | (10) Southbank 18/1, Course winner. 3 wins from 13 runs this year. Visored for 1st time, second of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f, 28/1) 20 days ago. Should be on the premises. Handicapped to win and should get the strong pace he'll need at 5f; contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Cases can be made for most of these, but none more so than STRONG JOHNSON. The veteran returned to winning ways over 5f at Newcastle last week and a 4lb penalty may underestimate him here. Southbank hit the crossbar at Chelmsford last time and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Four Adaay and Miss Anya are others who could go very well.
SECRET MISTRAL wasn't ideally positioned last time and, back on AW, he's worth chancing from a feasible mark in an open-looking contest. Strong Johnson is a player after making all at Newcastle 8 days ago and Street Life is capable of getting involved.
Four Adaay can go well but SOUTHBANK has got himself well handicapped and this should be run to suit.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The Pat Flynn-trained TUDOR MANOR might be able to defy top-weight. Somewhat unlucky in running before staying on well to finish fifth at Navan recently, the eight-year-old is well handicapped if adapting to the surface. Although failing to reach the frame on his only two previous starts here, the gelding did shape with promise. In a winnable race, he arrives here in better form than most of his rivals. Sky Legend, whose only previous career win came in a claimer at this venue, has to enter calculations. Although well beaten here last time, that run came over a mile. Scott Lang, who showed a bit more when fourth at Navan last time, shouldn't be discounted.
SCOTT LANG rates just the pick of these weights so is taken to end a lengthy losing run at the chief expense of the in-form Tudor Manor. Inchiquin Maid and Fine Print also need considering in this tight-knit handicap.
TUDOR MANOR won over this trip on turf this year and has run well in defeat at this track so is selected.

Something to find on form. Well below par in all four starts since winning at Brighton but is not written off.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
STRAIGHT A has won twice over 7f in recent weeks and the step back up in trip should not be a problem for the three-year-old. As a result, the progressive gelding just edges out More Than A Feelin to be the pick. The latter scored at Kempton a month ago and may have more to offer. Ciotog is another with strong form claims if he can transfer his most recent turf performances to the all-weather.
MORE THAN A FEELIN boasts a progressive profile on artificial surfaces and remains on a workable mark. She gets the nod. Straight A and Ciotog both arrive in fine heart and look the likeliest dangers.
A competitive race where preference is just for STRAIGHT A, up just 2lb for winning and now going back up in trip.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TRIBAL STAR, who only weakened late on when fourth over 1m4f at the Curragh on his Irish debut, should appreciate dropping back to this trip. Runner-up twice over the distance when trained in Britain, the son of Sea The Stars looked set to play a leading role before stamina came into play last time. With the benefit of that run under his belt, he can strike here for Ado McGuinness. Realism is probably no longer as good as a mark of 92 suggests but the Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding can win races. Third on his reappearance at Killarney last month, the five-year-old was fourth at Cork over hurdles last time. Dahab is another to consider in first-time cheekpieces.
Not nearly as competitive as the numbers suggest and REALISM is fancied to gain a deserved breakthrough victory for the in-form Joseph O'Brien team. Genoah also has the form to play a part and is next on the list ahead of debutants Jessie's Dreamgirl and La Punt.
If running to his rating Realism should win but that isn't certain, so TRIBAL STAR is a viable alternative with improvement likely.

3/1(+63%) | (4) Another Beautiful 3/1, 11/2, fifth of 7 in handicap at Leicester (10f, heavy) 31 days ago. Hood back on and this 10-race maiden will need to find improvement from somewhere in order to open her account. Well treated on best AW form but 0-10 and has enough to prove; new hood today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
CERULEAN SUMMER beat Port Noir by two lengths in this grade over track and trip earlier in the month and Morgan Cole's 5lb claim largely negates her 6lb penalty. Dylan Cunha's three-year-old might only need to produce a repeat of that performance in order to go in again. Curtiz outran his odds to finish second at Chelmsford last month and should go well off a 2lb higher mark, while Balqaa is another to note.
BALQAA's good run of form came to a halt on her latest start at Newcastle but that was her fourth run inside the space of 30 days and, following a subsequent break of almost two months, the 6-y-o is taken to get back on track with a fifth career success. Port Noir has a strong chance of reversing recent C&D placings with Cerulean Summer on these revised terms and she is feared most. Curtiz is also shortlisted.
The way she won here last time suggests that CERULEAN SUMMER (nap) remains on the up and she is taken to record another C&D success.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (14/1 -155%) Acotango |
14/1(-155%) | (4) Acotango 14/1, Fairly useful gelding. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Creditable second of 12 in claimer (10/1) at this C&D 28 days ago. Shouldn't be far away. Sole win from 16 starts came on AW; just denied in a C&D claimer last time; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (80/1 -100%) Effernock Fizz |
80/1(-100%) | (6) Effernock Fizz 80/1, Fair mare. Twenty one runs since last win in 2021. 25/1, last of 12 in handicap at Ballinrobe (13f, good). Off 144 days. Cheekpieces back on. Looks vulnerable. Tough and talented dual-purpose mare but has never won on AW and best watched on return. |

7th (3) (5/4 +58%) Persian Bliss |
5/4(+58%) | (3) Persian Bliss 5/4, Won 14-runner maiden (14/1) at this C&D on debut 21 days ago. This is tougher but he's completely unexposed. Showed a good attitude to win over C&D on debut and should be a player with more to come. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PERSIAN BLISS, a winner on his racecourse debut over course and distance last month, has the potential to improve further. A son of Advertise, the colt was reluctant to load but did nothing wrong once the stalls opened. In beating a solid yardstick for the grade, the Adrian Murray-trained three-year-old hinted at better to come. UK raider Debora's Dream has to be respected for Jennie Candlish. The booking of champion jockey Colin Keane on the three-time winner certainly suggests that connections mean business. A multiple winner at this track, San Andreas has yet to convince over this extended trip but it would be a mistake for the others to give the veteran too much leeway out in front.
PERSIAN BLISS belied market weakness when making a winning start to his career in a C&D maiden three weeks ago and, with the promise of better to come from this colt, he is taken to maintain his 100% record. The consistent Debora's Dream is feared most ahead of Acotango and Not Just Any Eagle.
Though he had a tough enough race when winning on debut over C&D, PERSIAN BLISS showed a likeable attitude and can win again.

1st (3) (5/4 +44%) Western Stars |
5/4(+44%) | (3) Western Stars 5/4, Won over this sort of trip at Newbury in July and arrives on back of creditable fourth of 7 in handicap at Southwell (12.1f, 8/1) 11 days ago, not knocked about. Likely contender. 4lb lower than for a turf win in July; mixed since but the booking of Rossa Ryan is a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 -11%) Green Team |
5/1(-11%) | (4) Green Team 5/1, Below par over longer trip here latest but had made the frame in 4 consecutive starts previously and warrants respect. On a long losing run but this year's best gives him sound claims; easy lead possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/2 +69%) Beautiful Crown |
5/2(+69%) | (1) Beautiful Crown 5/2, 3 wins from 11 runs this year. 12/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) 9 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Significantly back up in trip. Others preferred. Three wins at up to 1m2f in the summer; gone quiet more recently; trip further than ideal?. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/1 -64%) Sun Tracker |
9/1(-64%) | (2) Sun Tracker 9/1, 18/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at this course (12.2f) 32 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Chance on old form. Not built on a promising stable debut one year ago; down in weights but risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (8/1 -33%) Trojan Truth |
8/1(-33%) | (5) Trojan Truth 8/1, Returned with victory at this course in March and added to that success at Windsor (11.5f) and Leicester (11.8f) in summer. Below par over longer trip latest but better expected here. Three wins over shorter this year; dropping back from 2m looks a good move. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Competing off 3lb below his last winning mark and with his stamina more proven than some, WESTERN STARS is a key player. The Jim Boyle-trained gelding merits respect at this level and, with the in-form Rossa Ryan back in the saddle, there are solid foundation for another big run. Trojan Truth is weighted to go close, although Green Team is undoubtedly well handicapped based on past exploits and also needs serious consideration.
Preference is for WESTERN STARS, who is in better heart than his recent form figures suggest and will appreciate the return to this longer trip. Trojan Truth rates the principal danger.
Western Stars is respected with Rossa Ryan booked but GREEN TEAM could enjoy a soft lead and he may be able to end his losing run.

1st (10) (13/2 +74%) The Real Screamer |
13/2(+74%) | (10) The Real Screamer 13/2, 25/1, sixteenth of 24 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, soft) 24 days ago, weakening over 1f out. Previous effort at Navan wasn't devoid of encouragement by any means and the return to this longer trip may well help. Well beaten in four maidens and not much better in two handicaps. |

2nd (7) (9/2 -29%) Dancing Steve |
9/2(-29%) | (7) Dancing Steve 9/2, Winner at Tipperary in September. Good second of 14 in handicap (11/4) at this C&D 9 days ago, headed close home and no extra. Entitled to be in the mix again. Won at Tipperary and solid over C&D the last twice; up 2lb but considered again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/4 +0%) Koniag |
9/4(+0%) | (8) Koniag 9/4, Winner at Leopardstown in June. Good second of 13 in handicap at this C&D (5/1) 9 days ago, running on and just failing. Can make presence felt. Leopardstown winner was just denied over C&D last time; up 2lb but has to be considered. |

4th (2) (6/1 +40%) Castleheath |
6/1(+40%) | (2) Castleheath 6/1, Winner at Sligo in May. 9/1, fifth of 7 in handicap at this course (8f) 9 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Return to this trip looks in his favour with blinkers now reached for. Disappointing in handicaps but a bit better over 1m at this track last time; of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (10/1 +17%) Special Angel |
10/1(+17%) | (5) Special Angel 10/1, Winner at Tipperary in September. 8/1, twelfth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 28 days ago, headed early in straight and soon beaten. Given more of a break ahead of this and bounce back distinctly possible. Tipperary winner ran well twice after but has to bounce back from a poor C&D run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (10/1 -11%) Trethorn |
10/1(-11%) | (3) Trethorn 10/1, Creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at this course (12f, 12/1) 14 days ago. Fitting of first-time blinkers needs to have positive effect here. Disappointing in handicaps over 1m4f here the last twice; blinkers need to eke out more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (10/1 +29%) Wing Glider |
10/1(+29%) | (6) Wing Glider 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 16/1, creditable sixth of 17 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, soft) 24 days ago, never nearer. Makes polytrack debut. Some ability in maidens and not a bad h'cap debut last time; considered on AW bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (22/1 -57%) Harbour Gem |
22/1(-57%) | (1) Harbour Gem 22/1, Blinkered for 1st time, eighth of 18 in handicap at Galway (8.3f, heavy, 20/1) 18 days ago. Back up in trip. Makes polytrack debut. Holds good claims on his early-season form but recent efforts hardly inspiring. Won a 1m2f maiden at Cork back in May for Dermot Weld but has been well below that since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 -52%) Small Bucks |
50/1(-52%) | (9) Small Bucks 50/1, 25/1, bit below form 8¾ lengths eighth of 15 to Special Angel in handicap at Tipperary (9f, good) 75 days ago, never better than midfield. Blinkers reached for now starting out for new yard. Has a squeak if repeating her best form with blinkers added for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (14/1 -100%) Poyraz Approach |
14/1(-100%) | (4) Poyraz Approach 14/1, Ex-German filly who made final start for Henk Grewe a winning one in 7-runner maiden at Magdeburg (10.2f, good) in July. Acquired by new connections for €14,000 in August and interesting where she figures in the betting now handicapping. Wide margin winner of a 1m2f maiden in Germany this summer; could be well-handicapped. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Denied by the narrowest of margins on his last visit here, KONIAG can gain some compensation. A winner on turf at Leopardstown earlier in the year, the Kieran Cotter-trained gelding has twice finished runner-up on the Polytrack. Despite being raised 2lb for his recent defeat, the three-year-old looks nicely handicapped. Colin Keane, who rode a four-timer here last week, is a significant booking. Dancing Steve, another who has strong recent placed form at this track, looks a live threat. The Ado McGuinness-trained gelding has the aid of Adam Caffrey's valuable claim. Poyraz Approach, a winner on her final start in Germany, is an intriguing contender on her stable debut for Matthew Smith.
KONIAG and Dancing Steve have both been knocking firmly on the door in recent months and may be the pair to fight this out, the former shading the vote under Colin Keane. Ex-German filly Poyraz Approach would also look interesting if the market spoke in her favour now handicapping for her new stable.
CASTLEHEATH showed a bit of spark over 1m here last time and the step-up in trip with blinkers could see him win again.

1st (1) (9/1 +36%) Jax Edge |
9/1(+36%) | (1) Jax Edge 9/1, Last of 10 in handicap at this C&D (20/1) 11 days ago. Wouldn't be without each-way hope if reproducing the form of her penultimate start but others are more convincing overall. Of interest on this year's best form and had an excuse here latest; well drawn to attack. |

2nd (3) (9/4 +44%) Runaround Sioux |
9/4(+44%) | (3) Runaround Sioux 9/4, 4/1, respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good) when last seen 7 months ago. Entitled to come on for the run. 6f win at Chelmsford on h'cap debut in Feb; not so good since; returns from 7 months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 +68%) Rapido Girl |
9/2(+68%) | (2) Rapido Girl 9/2, Winner of a 7f Catterick maiden in June. 12/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Haydock (7f, good) 70 days ago. Needs to get back on track now switched to tapeta. 7f win at Catterick in June; below par the last twice; down in trip and making AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (17/2 +39%) Dazitoo |
17/2(+39%) | (9) Dazitoo 17/2, 9/1, eleventh of 14 in handicap at Newmarket (8f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Back down in trip for this tapeta debut and others are more persuasive. Not built on an encouraging debut; drops in trip with enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (14/1 -17%) Little Miss Magic |
14/1(-17%) | (5) Little Miss Magic 14/1, Winner at Bath in August. Ninth of 11 in handicap (33/1) at Newmarket (5f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Back up in trip and will be in with a fighting chance if she puts her best foot forward. On a winning mark but she needs to bounce back from a couple of modest efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (13/2 -63%) Unico |
13/2(-63%) | (6) Unico 13/2, 22/1, very good second of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 43 days ago. Remains on a good mark nudged up 1 lb and she's one for the shortlist. Knocking at the door of late and she looks a strong contender back against her own sex. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (15/2 -15%) White Mist |
15/2(-15%) | (10) White Mist 15/2, C&D winner. Fifth of 8 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 7/1) when last seen in June. Boasts a good record on the AW and she's a live contender. Three AW wins last winter, two over C&D; on a fair mark but returning from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (20/1 -100%) American Fashion |
20/1(-100%) | (4) American Fashion 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in handicap (12/1) at Lingfield (5f, AW) 76 days ago. Back up in trip for this tapeta debut/first run for new connections. Others preferred. Weak finisher from 5f to 7f for the Gosdens; still low mileage; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (12/1 +14%) Starsong |
12/1(+14%) | (8) Starsong 12/1, C&D winner. 12/1, fifth of 6 in handicap back here 21 days ago. Cheekpieces refitted and while she's not without hope, one or two of these are more appealing from a win point of view. C&D win off this mark in February; sharper for recent return; yard having quiet autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (14/1 -40%) Soldiers Design |
14/1(-40%) | (7) Soldiers Design 14/1, Winner at Brighton in April. Last of 4 in handicap (11/4) at Bath (5f, good to firm) 72 days ago. Back up in trip and she will probably find one or two too good. Yet to land a serious blow in three runs for new yard; return to 6f could help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
RUNAROUND SIOUX won a similar race at Chelmsford in February and, having missed most of the turf season, appeals off just 2lb higher. Her ability to truly handle Tapeta is still the only slight query in an otherwise solid case for support. Unico has held her form well and has a good chance of at least running into a place. All-weather debutant Rapido Girl is bred to be effective on synthetics and also needs a betting check.
The vote goes to UNICO, who has found her feet for this yard in recent months and her latest second at Chelmsford arguably represented a career-best. White Mist's record on the all-weather is strong and she will be a big threat if fully tuned-up following a break, while Little Miss Magic is best of the rest.
Jax Edge is better than she showed last time but UNICO looks primed to strike and can gain a first win for this yard.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
