1st (2) (16/1 -113%) Miss Tempo |
16/1(-113%) | (2) Miss Tempo 16/1, Fairly useful winner at 3m over hurdles. 8/1, sixth of 8 in novice chase at Tramore (22f, good to soft) 84 days ago. Stable in good form and she could yet get back on track returning from a break. Stays much further than this, trainer may have a better chance with Ballybrack Wood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (5/2 +17%) Ballybrack Wood |
5/2(+17%) | (9) Ballybrack Wood 5/2, Promising individual. Career best when winning 10-runner novice chase (3/1) at Tramore (20.4f, good to soft) on debut over fences 31 days ago. Big shout now handicapping in this sphere from what could prove a lenient opening mark. Already looking like a better chaser than hurdler having won a beginners' event at Tramore. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (13/2 +35%) Sea Road Fill |
13/2(+35%) | (8) Sea Road Fill 13/2, Remains a maiden after 17 NH runs. 150/1, finished well held in face of stiff task when seventh of 9 in Gr 3 chase at Cork (20f, good) 7 days ago. Switch to handicaps in his favour and showed enough in maidens previously to think he can make his mark. Ran in a Grade 3 last Sunday, fair chance in this company based on previous Cork second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/1 +30%) Digby |
7/1(+30%) | (1) Digby 7/1, Fairly useful hurdler and similar form over fences, respectable return from 5 months off when third of 5 in minor event chase at Sligo (21.1f, good) 39 days ago. Switch to handicaps in his favour and rider takes off a handy 7 lb. Respected. Ran well in good company last season, Sligo third was reassuring after a couple of flops. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (6/1 -20%) Winding River |
6/1(-20%) | (3) Winding River 6/1, Won 8-runner handicap chase at Clonmel (20.7f, good to soft, 9/2) 17 days ago, asserting run-in that despite a far-from-fluent round of jumping. This looks a tougher ask and he needs to keep the errors at bay. Downpatrick specialist, broadened his horizons with recent Clonmel win, now 5lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (22/1 +12%) Jacksons Gold |
22/1(+12%) | (6) Jacksons Gold 22/1, Twenty one runs since last win in 2021. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, sixteenth of 18 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20.2f, good to soft, 25/1) 37 days ago, struggling from 5 out and tailed off. Switches from hurdles to chase. Flattered by second behind the smart Pinkerton in April, handicap form raises concerns. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (9/2 +10%) Andys Flame |
9/2(+10%) | (4) Andys Flame 9/2, 28/1, very good fifth of 11 in handicap chase at Cheltenham (19.8f, good) 15 days ago, keeping on when hampered 2f out. Respected faced with this less demanding assignment. Stayed on to some effect when fifth behind fellow Irish raider Lisnamult Lad at Cheltenham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (7/1 +13%) Gustavo Goodway |
7/1(+13%) | (10) Gustavo Goodway 7/1, Third of 14 in handicap chase at Gowran (18f, good to firm, 22/1) on debut over fences 36 days ago, going in snatches and needing early reminders. Return to this longer trip may well help. Made a bright start chasing when third in a weaker handicap than this at Gowran, 3lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (22/1 -57%) Metersandmasks |
22/1(-57%) | (5) Metersandmasks 22/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Shaped as though retaining his ability back from a lengthy absence in pair of chase starts, sixth of 9 in novice chase at Galway (18.2f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Interesting if the market spoke in his favour now handicapping in this sphere. Beat Hewick in a handicap hurdle in 2022, two recent runs should have advanced his fitness. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (20/1 -67%) Faux Fur |
20/1(-67%) | (7) Faux Fur 20/1, Fair chaser. Below form when seventh of 8 to Winding River in handicap chase (14/1) at Clonmel (20.7f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Not progressing, hard to fancy after a poor run in a Clonmel handicap won by Winding River. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BALLYBRACK WOOD failed to score in six outings over hurdles but looks to have a brighter future over fences after making a successful start over this trip at Tramore last month. The selection was prominent throughout when justifying favouritism in that beginners event and may now have most to fear from another with a similar profile in Gustavo Goodway. The Philip Rothwell-trained gelding races from 3lb out of the handicap proper but also made an encouraging start over fences when third to Finnians Row in a 2m2f Gowran handicap and the form of that race has received a number of boosts since. Winding River bids to follow up a recent Clonmel win while Andys Flame and Sea Road Fill are others to note.
Boasting a low-mileage profile over hurdles, BALLYBRACK WOOD found improvement to make a winning chase debut at Tramore 31 days ago and with further progress in the offing now handicapping, he makes plenty of appeal in his follow-up bid. Andys Flame and Digby are others to consider, along with Winding River.
Second at Cork on his penultimate start, SEA ROAD FILL gets the vote to score on his handicap debut

1st (9) (4/5 +12%) Tutti Quanti |
4/5(+12%) | (9) Tutti Quanti 4/5, Made a very promising start last season, runner-up in hurdles in France and at Taunton 5 months apart, splitting a promising pair and beaten just ½ length starting out for Paul Nicholls at the turn of the year. More to come and a banker for a novice like this. Went close on British debut at Taunton in January; leading contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 +9%) Diamonds For Luck |
5/1(+9%) | (4) Diamonds For Luck 5/1, Six-figure buy out of the pointing field (fell when having every chance both occasions) and made a much better fist of it sent hurdling on return when second at Uttoxeter (2m), unable to bridge the gap to a more prominently ridden one in a steadily-run affair. Bred to stay well and should do better. Promising second on last month's hurdling debut; likely contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (18/1 -13%) Don't Wind Me Up |
18/1(-13%) | (5) Don't Wind Me Up 18/1, Showed ability amid clear inexperience in Chepstow bumper a year ago. Closely related to yard's fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stays 23f) Tidal Flow so could do better now jumping. Not beaten far when fourth of five on bumper debut last November but not seen again since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/2 -50%) Gold In The Rivers |
9/2(-50%) | (1) Gold In The Rivers 9/2, Maiden hurdle winner in Ireland and ran well at Down Royal when last seen in May. Drops back to the minimum trip starting out for in-form new yard (£40,000 buy from Gordon Elliott) and should have more to offer. 2m3f maiden winner in Ireland in March; makes stable debut following £40,000 sale. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (15/2 +17%) Imaginarium |
15/2(+17%) | (2) Imaginarium 15/2, Useful Irish 9f winner on Flat for Ger Lyons and made a successful start over hurdles on his sole start for Lucinda Russell in 2m Perth maiden in May. Stiff task at Cheltenham starting out for this yard recently and this is easier. Hurdle winner in May; found Grade 2 too hot on stable debut but this race is easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (18/1 -13%) Leech |
18/1(-13%) | (7) Leech 18/1, From the family of smart hurdler (stayed 19f) Local Hero and won a Chepstow bumper in February. Hurdles debut and yard have won this in the past. Heavy-ground bumper winner in February; market may point the way on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (125/1 -56%) Dublin To Milan |
125/1(-56%) | (6) Dublin To Milan 125/1, Made the frame in a trio of points. Well held completed start over hurdles last month at Uttoxeter. Likely to need more time. Not disgraced at Uttoxeter last month but others have much more obvious claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (200/1 -100%) Princess Keri |
200/1(-100%) | (12) Princess Keri 200/1, From the family of Welsh Grand National winner Potters Corner and runner-up on last of 3 starts in Irish points. Never on terms on recent hurdles debut at Ludlow (21f) and she can't be fancied down in trip. Always behind when 100-1 for recent hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (80/1 +0%) V Power |
80/1(+0%) | (10) V Power 80/1, Fair on the Flat (stays 1¾m) but ran below that level sent hurdling at Chepstow last month. Fair on the Flat but was soundly beaten on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (400/1 -220%) Absence Of Malice |
400/1(-220%) | (11) Absence Of Malice 400/1, No impact in 2 bumpers and Worcester novice hurdle in the summer. Hood goes on. Well beaten in both her bumpers during the summer and also struggled on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (150/1 -50%) Monsieur Lambrays |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Monsieur Lambrays 150/1, Fairly useful staying handicapper at best on Flat, took little interest last time. Finished last on both Flat starts this year and is overlooked on belated hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (150/1 -200%) Chateau Du Lys |
150/1(-200%) | (3) Chateau Du Lys 150/1, From the family of fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 3m) Yalltari. Runner-up sole start in points (May 27). Might need further and more time. Second in a maiden point on debut but has a lot more on his plate here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GOLD IN THE RIVERS won a maiden hurdle for Gordon Elliott on his penultimate start at Limerick and the five-year-old may put his experience to good use, despite dropping to 2m for the first time in his career. Tutti Quanti commands plenty of respect based on his second at Taunton in January, while Imaginarium was outclassed in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last month but is back at a more realistic level.
TUTTI QUANTI made a very promising start over hurdles last season, splitting a similarly promising pair at Taunton when starting out for Paul Nicholls in January, and he could be hard to beat if ready to roll. The penalised Gold In The Rivers is a big player on his return for a new yard and Imaginarium completes the shortlist.
Preference is for TUTTI QUANTI, who went close on his British debut in January and is open to significant improvement this season.

1st (10) (1/2 +31%) Spasiba |
1/2(+31%) | (10) Spasiba 1/2, Useful Flat winner. Ninth of 30 in handicap at the Curragh (16.8f, good to soft, 14/1) 42 days ago. Promising on hurdles debut for previous trainer. Obvious claims. Promising on only hurdles start for Sam Curling, fair form in valuable 2024 Flat handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (40/1 +20%) Beauforts Storm |
40/1(+20%) | (12) Beauforts Storm 40/1, Poor hurdler. Fair winner at 17f in bumpers. Below form seventh of 14 in novice hurdle at Galway (16.4f, good to soft, 22/1) 15 days ago, having hopeless task from position. Bumper winner, more likely as a handicap prospect judged on her first three hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (100/1 -100%) Fairyland Opera |
100/1(-100%) | (13) Fairyland Opera 100/1, Twice-raced maiden. 6/1, twelfth of 14 in novice hurdle at Tipperary (16.5f, good to soft) 6 months ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Initial outing at this venue showed promise; poor run on second attempt, tongue-tie on now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/2 +0%) Musta Lovea Lovea |
9/2(+0%) | (5) Musta Lovea Lovea 9/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Remains a maiden after 12 hurdle runs. 3/1, third of 21 in novice hurdle at this course (19f, heavy) 8 months ago. Hood back on. Form of last run has a good look to it and he can go well on return. Placed four times over hurdles, useful form but may continue to find one or two too good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (40/1 +60%) Plunkett Street |
40/1(+60%) | (6) Plunkett Street 40/1, Modest winner at 10f on flat. Fourth of 20 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, soft, 7/1) 19 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Suspect he'll be outclassed. Minor handicap winner on the Flat at Navan in September, lacks hurdling experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (22/1 +0%) Lehaunstown |
22/1(+0%) | (4) Lehaunstown 22/1, Promising individual. Eleventh of 24 in novice hurdle (40/1) at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) 11 months ago, not knocked about. Should have more to offer this term. Will need to jump considerably better than on his only outing last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

150/1(+25%) | (8) Royal Noble 150/1, 200/1, first run since leaving Thomas Coyle when seventh of 10 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (16.3f, good) on hurdles bow 25 days ago. Moderate form in points/bumpers, posed no threat at Punchestown on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (7/2 +36%) Jersey Des Brosses |
7/2(+36%) | (3) Jersey Des Brosses 7/2, Twice-raced maiden. 11/5, unseated rider in bumper at Bellewstown (17f, good to soft) 6 months ago, not done with having initially been a little outpaced at the top of the straight. Of interest now hurdling. Engaged 2.12 Gowran Saturday. Expensive purchase after point-to-point second, placed in a bumper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (250/1 -150%) Isthereonemoreinme |
250/1(-150%) | (2) Isthereonemoreinme 250/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 100/1, seventh of 8 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (20f, good) 26 days ago. Jumping issues have been evident, nothing to suggest he can play a featuring role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

300/1(-50%) | (7) Rinnaseer King 300/1, 150/1, pulled up in novice hurdle at Listowel (22f, good) 49 days ago, tailed off when pulled up after 3 out. Hooded for 1st time, cheekpieces on for 1st time. Has struggled in all four appearances, safe to leave out of calculations. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SPASIBA is a useful stayer on the Flat and has shaped well in three outings for current connections this year including when third behind stablemate Sirius in the valuable amateur riders' handicap at the Galway Festival. The selection also filled the runner-up spot on his only hurdle start in a Limerick maiden last Christmas for Sam Curling. Musta Lovea Lovea has plenty of previous experience over hurdles and was placed three times here last season including when third to Slade Steel in this corresponding race. The race sponsor Oliver McKiernan is also represented by Syracus Du Houx, who was second in a Punchestown maiden this spring.
Usually an informative maiden and SPASIBA is strongly fancied to strike for Willie Mullins. He's been running well on the level for his new yard and made an encouraging debut in this sphere for his previous trainer at Christmas. Oliver McKiernan's pair Musta Lovea Lovea and Syracus du Houx look the dangers.
This is a good opportunity for 88-rated Flat performer SPASIBA to get off the mark on his second start over hurdles.

1st (3) (16/5 +42%) Act Of Authority |
16/5(+42%) | (3) Act Of Authority 16/5, Successful on 3 of his half-a-dozen starts as a novice last season and signed that campaign off with a good sixth in a valuable handicap here (2m) in April. Never figured on reappearance in Silver Trophy at Chepstow 4 weeks ago but that ought to have blown the cobwebs away. Well beaten on return but remains of interest in view of last season's novice promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 +10%) Don't Tell Su |
3/1(+10%) | (6) Don't Tell Su 3/1, Bumper winner. Bright start over hurdles last season, completing simple task in a Wincanton maiden (15.2f) in March. Signed off with a solid second of 9 on handicap debut at Ayr (20.5f) in April and he commands respect for his top yard after 6 months off. Badly hampered when second on handicap debut at Ayr in April; retains same mark; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (17/2 -6%) Samuel Spade |
17/2(-6%) | (5) Samuel Spade 17/2, Capitalised on the ease in grade when scoring at Huntingdon (20.6f) in March but rather typically made mistakes and was below form when eleventh of 15 in handicap hurdle at Cheltenham (20.2f) a month later. Returns with yard going nicely however, if he can keep the errors at bay. Inconsistent but has won four of his 12 hurdle starts and could be a contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (16/1 -100%) Henri The Second |
16/1(-100%) | (2) Henri The Second 16/1, Useful in bumpers and quickly reached a similar level over hurdles, winning C&D Grade 2 just under 2 years ago. However, absent since being pulled up on chase debut here (20f) 12 months ago and the market may prove a useful guide returned to hurdles now. Grade 2 C&D novice hurdler winner in December 2022; returns from a year off today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (11/2 +73%) Through The Ages |
11/2(+73%) | (9) Through The Ages 11/2, Fair form when landing small-field juvenile hurdles at Huntingdon/Newbury around the turn of the year. Hasn't matched that form on 2 of his 3 starts since, latterly on return from 6 months off when seventh of 11 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (2m) 29 days ago. Back up in trip. Won two juvenile hurdles last winter but unable to threaten in handicaps subsequently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (4/1 +0%) Vincenzo |
4/1(+0%) | (4) Vincenzo 4/1, Placed in some good maiden/novice events and made most of good opportunity at Exeter (16.7f) in April. Returned with a good third in Grade 2 Persian War at Chepstow last month and he's one to consider now switched to handicaps. Third in Grade 2 novice at Chepstow last month; brings potential to his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (14/1 +0%) Arqoob |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Arqoob 14/1, A fairly useful 2m winner (course winner) but ended last season with a below-par display and disconcerting he again finished well held last of 9 in handicap hurdle at Aintree (20f) 2 weeks ago. Needs to leave that well behind. On a handy mark on last season's best, but there was no return to form on recent comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (12/1 -118%) Monviel |
12/1(-118%) | (1) Monviel 12/1, Confirmed himself back in good heart during the spring, showing no ill effects of his unseat over C&D in April when second at Uttoxeter (20f) the following month. Won after a break previously and his yard have made an excellent start to the campaign. Shortlisted. Runner-up at Uttoxeter in May when last seen; has won when fresh; could have part to play. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (28/1 -211%) Falco Des Pins |
28/1(-211%) | (8) Falco Des Pins 28/1, Ex-French performer who was steadily progressive last season, best effort yet when second of in juvenile hurdle at Angers (16.9f) in March. Goes handicapping for new yard with a good record with new recruits and he's worthy of note, particularly if strong in the betting. Unexposed 4yo whose new trainer does well with French recruits; market check advised. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Don't Tell Su and Vincenzo can both make the running and could set testing fractions. The former, who is of low milage, is particularly attractive on just his second start in a handicap. However, his stable companion HENRI THE SECOND offers more intrigue. A Grade 2 over C&D as a five-year-old, the son of Saddler Maker can go well fresh and, with proven effectiveness at this venue, he could be the one to benefit most with his stamina more assured.
Claims can be made for several here and it may pay to take a chance on Venetia Williams' FALCO DES PINS. A low-mileage 4-y-o, he signed off his time in France with a good second at Angers in the spring and he appeals as the type to make his mark now handicapping/up in trip before the benefit of market clues. Vincenzo, Monviel and Don't Tell Su all command respect also.
Preference is for ACT OF AUTHORITY who stayed on well in a competitive 2m handicap here in April. Don't Tell Su is a danger.

1st (1) (2/7 +54%) The Kemble Brewery |
2/7(+54%) | (1) The Kemble Brewery 2/7, Created an excellent impression when landing both starts in bumpers but needed experience when third on hurdles debut on final outing. Much more like it after 11 months off when taking 11-runner novice hurdle at Worcester (2m) 25 days ago and he's the type to progress further. Useful in bumpers last year and opened hurdling account last month; the one to beat. |

2nd (6) (10/1 -67%) Koapey |
10/1(-67%) | (6) Koapey 10/1, €52,000 3-y-o, Manatee gelding. Encouraging start when second of 7 in a C&D bumper 28 days ago, pressing leader from 2f out and held only final 50 yds. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (28/1 -133%) Chesh |
28/1(-133%) | (2) Chesh 28/1, £140,000 3-y-o, Getaway gelding. Showed ability when sixth of 9 in bumper at Kempton (2m, soft) on sole start for Chris Gordon back in February. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (22/1 -57%) Kick For Touch |
22/1(-57%) | (5) Kick For Touch 22/1, £62,000 3-y-o, Cokoriko gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners, including Cacao d'Olivate. Dam unraced half-sister to French hurdlers/chasers Numero Special (2¼m-2¾m winner). Market should prove a useful guide on hurdles debut. Out of a half-sister to a Listed chase winner; entitled to learn from this debut outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (125/1 -89%) Tom Taggle |
125/1(-89%) | (7) Tom Taggle 125/1, Showed a bit when midfield in big field Sales bumper last spring but easy to back and ultimately well held on return/debut in this sphere when tenth of 13 in a Chepstow maiden (19.5f) 12 days ago. Never get competitive on recent hurdling debut at Chepstow (2m3f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

100/1(-52%) | (10) Kiss Me Moon 100/1, Ran to only a poor level in bumpers at Newbury/Stratford during the spring and she's passed over now hurdling/after 6 months off. Showed only minor promise in her two bumpers and faces a tough task on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (66/1 -100%) Trust House |
66/1(-100%) | (8) Trust House 66/1, Fairly useful form on Flat for Ralph Beckett, stays 1½m. Acquired for 58,000 gns by present connections but looked a work-in-progress in pair of hurdle starts in recent months. Looks a likely type for handicaps moving forward. Useful Flat winner in 2023 but safely held in two maiden hurdles this autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (125/1 -150%) Wilmcote |
125/1(-150%) | (11) Wilmcote 125/1, Jack Hobbs filly. Showed ability amidst greenness in pair of bumpers at the start of the campaign but easy to back and looked one for later on when eighth of 14 in novice hurdle at Stratford (16.3f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 10 days ago. Towards rear throughout when a big-priced outsider for recent hurdling debut. |

11/2(0%) | (3) Jackpot D'ainay 11/2, Bred to stay well and having made the frame both starts in bumpers, he shaped with encouragement sent hurdling after 7 months off when third of 8 in a Uttoxeter novice (15.8f) 23 days ago, left with too much to do in steadily-run contest. Likely improver. Hood on 1st time. Very respectable third on recent hurdling debut at Uttoxeter; each-way claims at least. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
THE KEMBLE BREWERY needed time to recover from his hurdling debut at Cheltenham last November having picked up an injury. The five-year-old got off the mark over timber at Worcester last month and the form has already worked out with the runner-up Jurancon going one better at Chepstow earlier this week. Jackpot D'ainay wears a hood for the first time after racing too keenly at Uttoxeter on his first attempt over hurdles. He may prove the biggest threat if settling better, while Koapey and Kick For Touch are others to note.
Successful on each of his 2 starts in bumpers, THE KEMBLE BREWERY surpassed his hurdles debut form after 11 months off when successful at Worcester (2m) 25 days ago. Open to improvement, he can defy weight all round and follow up. Jackpot d'Ainay is a likely improver following his good third at Uttoxeter recently, with Koapey and Chesh another pair of interest from bumpers.
Dual bumper winner THE KEMBLE BREWERY quickened clear with a next-time-out winner over hurdles last month and has strong claims here.

1st (3) (2/1 +56%) Pinot Gris |
2/1(+56%) | (3) Pinot Gris 2/1, Fairly useful winner at 13f on Flat. Winner in hurdle at Bellewstown in April and good second at Listowel in September. Can do better in this code. Second in the Lartigue Handicap at Listowel gives him a good chance against these rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (8/1 +33%) Palamon |
8/1(+33%) | (2) Palamon 8/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 14/1, bit below form eighth of 13 in handicap at Gowran (11.8f, heavy) 20 days ago. Good third in C&D juvenile hurdle in January but work to do. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Cork maiden winner, has had two runs on the Flat since poor run over hurdles at Galway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +11%) Wonleg |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Wonleg 4/1, 15/2, won 16-runner novice hurdle at Roscommon (15.6f, soft) 41 days ago, settling into a good rhythm behind the leading trio and picking them off one by one in the closing stages. This is a different scenario but he clearly has more to offer. Good shout. Roscommon maiden winner on hurdling debut, relative lack of experience could be an issue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/4 -87%) Zariygann |
5/4(-87%) | (1) Zariygann 5/4, 6/1, won 5-runner novice hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft) 46 days ago. No surprise that this half-brother to high-class hurdler Zanahiyr is doing better in this sphere and good chance in his bid to make it 3-3. Listowel win was franked when the runner-up won a four-runner Grade 3 contest at Tipperary. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PINOT GRIS was the pick of these on the Flat and also has plenty of experience over hurdles. The Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding added to two Flat wins when landing a Bellewstown maiden hurdle this spring and beat all bar Eagles Reign in the valuable Lartigue Hurdle at the Listowel Festival. Zariygann has taken well to hurdles easily winning a Roscommon maiden and the half-brother to Zanahiyr followed up in good style at Listowel. Wonleg also won a maiden at Roscommon on his debut under Rules and has plenty of scope for improvement.
WONLEG impressed when taking a big-field Roscommon novice 6 weeks ago, and while this small-field affair presents a different test, he could be up to it given the improvement he probably has in the works. Zariygann won't go down fighting as he bids to make it 3-3 in this sphere.
An ordinary sort on the Flat, ZARIYGANN has prospects of keeping his unbeaten hurdles record intact with his Listowel win boosted

1st (2) (5/2 -25%) El Rio |
5/2(-25%) | (2) El Rio 5/2, Low-mileage 7-y-o who resumed with success in 8-runner handicap chase at Huntingdon (19.9f, good) 33 days ago. Up 6 lb but he merits serious consideration once more. Won at Huntingdon on second chase start; needs to back that up but things may have clicked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (5/2 -33%) Passing Well |
5/2(-33%) | (1) Passing Well 5/2, Got off the mark over fences at Lingfield last November but came in last of 4 at Newbury in March. Tongue strap goes back on for his return and in the picture with yard going well. Looked good late last year and a break may have helped; goes well fresh; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 +9%) Mole Court |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Mole Court 5/1, Made it 5 wins in this sphere at Huntingdon in April but he posted a below-par tenth of 18 in handicap chase at Cheltenham (25f, good) 16 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Inconsistent but just 2lb higher than for April win; may improve for recent Cheltenham run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/2 +31%) Abingworth |
11/2(+31%) | (6) Abingworth 11/2, A dual chase scorer (up to 2m4f) last term but brought down 6th in handicap chase at Huntingdon (19.9f, good) 33 days ago. Very much one to consider. Prone to making mistakes but not his fault he unseated last time; won twice last season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (13/2 +41%) Belgarum |
13/2(+41%) | (5) Belgarum 13/2, Much improved since sent chasing, scoring emphatically at Plumpton (2m4f) in September. Pulled up at Chepstow (3m) last time but no surprise to see him bounce back here with cheekpieces added. Two easy wins in a row, then a bad mistake proved costly at Chepstow; could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 -33%) Hudson De Grugy |
12/1(-33%) | (4) Hudson De Grugy 12/1, C&D winner but he made mistakes when seventh of 8 in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (24f) in April. Cheekpieces replace visor for his return and not discounted. His jumping is a worry but he's attractively handicapped and likes it here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
EL RIO was in a dominant mood when making a winning return at Huntingdon last month and, barring a mistake at the last, the seven-year-old showed he is adaptable over fences and should have more to offer from just 6lb higher. Passing Well is surely better than he managed when letting favourite backers down in a similar event at Newbury when last seen and could bounce back with trip and ground to suit. Belgarum and Abingworth are both on retrieval missions but could figure if their jumping improves.
None of these can be ruled out but the vote goes to EL RIO who returned in style when successful at Huntingdon and can defy a 6 lb weights rise with few miles still on the clock. The reappearing Passing Well is feared most from the in-form Jamie Snowden yard ahead of Gary and Josh Moore's pair Abingworth and Hudson de Grugy.
Topweight PASSING WELL was looking good at this stage last season and reappears with his trainer Jamie Snowden in fine form.

1st (7) (40/1 -100%) Impatient |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Impatient 40/1, Lightly raced since his promising hurdles debut a year ago and hasn't progressed, always behind on return/chase debut at Southwell 3 weeks ago. Tongue tie back on. Posed no threat on recent chase/handicap debut but remains very unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/2 +31%) Phantom Getaway |
11/2(+31%) | (2) Phantom Getaway 11/2, Winning Irish pointer who took 3m handicap hurdle at this meeting on 2022/23 return. No show in 3 starts over fences last season but returns with yard in great form. Has had a breathing operation and also tongue tied now. Out of sorts last season but resumes after wind op and on very dangerous mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (9/1 +36%) Dusautior |
9/1(+36%) | (12) Dusautior 9/1, Won 3m novice handicap chase at Bangor in April. Easy to back and probably needed the run after 4 months off at Uttoxeter, an error as the race was beginning in earnest exacerbating matters. Down 2 lb and this Irish point winner is still relatively unexposed. Battled well to open chase account in April but two lesser efforts have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (15/2 0%) Icaque De L'isle |
15/2(0%) | (9) Icaque De L'isle 15/2, Stopped the slide from a slipping mark after 7 months off (had breathing operation in interim) when second at Worcester (23f) 3 weeks ago, no match for promising winner. Nudged up just 1 lb but worth remembering that he didn't go on from an encouraging reappearance last season. Back from layoff/wind op with creditable second at Worcester last month; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/2 +50%) Pedley Wood |
11/2(+50%) | (8) Pedley Wood 11/2, Started last season over fences with a bang, winning over further at Hereford and Taunton. Will need to find a bit more to defy current mark on return. 2-5 in first season over fences; back from break; may prefer right-handed tracks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (11/1 +0%) River Voyage |
11/1(+0%) | (14) River Voyage 11/1, Winning Irish pointer who only showed a modest level of form over hurdles and failed to meet expectations sent chasing after 6 months off at Stratford when well backed, adding to a patchy record. Blinkers go on. Pulled up when well supported for chasing debut but may yet do well over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (33/1 +0%) Old Painless |
33/1(+0%) | (5) Old Painless 33/1, Plumpton winner first time up over fences 2 years ago but little impact in 3 runs for current yard, including on return at Warwick last month. Some positives can be drawn from last month's seasonal debut; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (10/1 +29%) Shot Boii |
10/1(+29%) | (6) Shot Boii 10/1, Took 25f Hereford handicap chase at the start of the year and a couple of good seconds after. Cheekpieces back on for return and has won fresh. Wouldn't dismiss. Ran well in Chepstow marathon in March but ended last season with a poor performance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (16/1 -33%) Stellar Stream |
16/1(-33%) | (4) Stellar Stream 16/1, Gained a deserved breakthrough success over fences (in first-time cheekpieces, not on here) in the North Wales National at Bangor (29.5f, heavy) in February. Failed to complete next 2 starts and suspect he'll come on for this after 6 months off. Marathon winner in first-time cheekpieces in February; no headgear for this seasonal debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (18/1 -157%) Bonza Boy |
18/1(-157%) | (3) Bonza Boy 18/1, Got back on track over fences last term, scoring at Exeter and Chepstow. Undone by a rise in the weights going for a hat-trick here final start, again jumping right. Steps up in trip on return and may come on for it. Ended last season in very good form over 2m3f; could have more to offer over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (7/1 +56%) Puddlesinthepark |
7/1(+56%) | (13) Puddlesinthepark 7/1, Only win came here over hurdles. Appears to have completely lost his form, merely passing beaten horses late on having been well off the pace most of the way at Chepstow 4 weeks ago. His mark continues to tumble. Out of form since his two seconds in cheekpieces in the spring; needs to turn a corner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (6/1 -80%) Village Master |
6/1(-80%) | (1) Village Master 6/1, Unbeaten over fences, making it 5-5 in 26f handicap at Fontwell when last seen in June. Up just 2 lb and returns after breathing op with yard going well. Strong claims. Began chase career with five wins in a row in spring; back from a break today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (20/1 -67%) Pilgrims King |
20/1(-67%) | (11) Pilgrims King 20/1, Dual winner back over fences earlier this year, including at this track. Should stay this new trip on return and not dismissed. Dual 2m3f chase winner last season; moves up in trip after a break; needs to be at peak. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
VILLAGE MASTER remains unbeaten in five starts over the larger obstacles and the handicapper may not have caught up with him yet based on his latest success at Fontwell in June. Pedley Wood improved last season with a brace of victories at Hereford and Taunton. Joe Tizzard's gelding remains open to improvement on just his sixth start over fences, while Icaque De L'isle and Bonza Boy are others to consider.
VILLAGE MASTER has been a revelation over fences and can make it 6-6 in this sphere on his return with his yard going well. Shot Boii could be a player on his comeback, while Icaque de l'Isle has to be a danger if building on his good reappearance run.
Richard Bandey's ICAQUE DE L'ISLE (nap) returned to form with a clear second at Worcester last month and is only 1lb higher here.

1st (6) (1/4 +83%) Lieutenant Mayne |
1/4(+83%) | (6) Lieutenant Mayne 1/4, Third in sole point last February and marked himself down as potentially useful when winning 2 of his 3 starts in bumpers earlier this season. Good prospect now attentions switch to hurdling after 7 months off. Won two bumpers in Britain, form is questionable value but should make a fair hurdler. |

2nd (11) (9/1 +64%) Make Sunshine |
9/1(+64%) | (11) Make Sunshine 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 14/1, again ran to only a modest level when fourth of 11 in novice hurdle at Wexford (16.4f, heavy) 13 days ago. Low-grade handicaps promise to be more her bag on the back of this. Fourth in a recent maiden hurdle at Wexford, will probably need a handicap mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (50/1 +0%) Dunany Point |
50/1(+0%) | (2) Dunany Point 50/1, Masterofthehorse gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to modest hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 2¾m) Rory's Sister. Failed to complete both starts in points, fell latest (Feb 2024). Failed to complete in two outings in points last season, likely to need experience. |

4th (8) (25/1 +50%) Mellem |
25/1(+50%) | (8) Mellem 25/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. Tenth of 12 in novice hurdle (33/1) at Wexford (16.5f, heavy) on hurdles bow 14 days ago. Passed over on the back of that. Moderate fifth in a bumper at Listowel, completely tailed off in maiden hurdle at Wexford. |

5th (10) (20/1 +50%) Black Fern |
20/1(+50%) | (10) Black Fern 20/1, Soldier of Fortune filly. Dam unraced half-sister to unreliable but useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 25f) Peckhamecho out of 2m-2½m hurdle/chase winner (stayed 2¾m) Nolans Pride). Dam an unraced half-sister to useful bumper/hurdle/chase winner Peckhamecho, best watched. |

7th (1) (11/2 +66%) Another Challenge |
11/2(+66%) | (1) Another Challenge 11/2, €58,000 3-y-o, Order of St George gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler/useful chase winner (stayed 25f) Minella Awards. Worth monitoring in the betting for clues on debut. Unraced dam is a half-sister to winners including the Harry Fry-trained Minella Awards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (20/1 +20%) Kanpai |
20/1(+20%) | (5) Kanpai 20/1, €35,000 3-y-o, Getaway gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful 17f/19f hurdle winner Champagne Problem and fair hurdler Champagnesocialist, stays 3m. Ninth of 12 in novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (19f, good, 14/1) on NH debut 13 days ago, held up and never dangerous. Likely one for later on. Down the field in a 2m3f maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in May, unlikely to feature. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LIEUTENANT MAYNE won twice in bumpers on testing ground earlier this year and is an interesting recruit to hurdles. The John McConnell-trained gelding raced prominently on both occasions including when making all on the Midlands National card at Uttoxeter. Masterboy Davis was placed twice in bumpers also on heavy going last season including when just denied at Punchestown by Sounds Victorius who went on to finish fourth at the Cheltenham Festival. Make Sunshine has some jumping experience and was fourth in a Wexford maiden recently, while any market support for Another Challenge would be interesting.
LIEUTENANT MAYNE reached a near useful level in bumpers during the spring and with this increase in trip promising to suit now hurdling, he could well be the way to go in a race essentially lacking a great deal of depth. Masterboy Davis was another who displayed promise in that sphere and, along with ex-pointer Hills of Glory, heads up the dangers.
Dual British bumper winner Lieutenant Mayne may not cope with MASTERBOY DAVIS whose best Irish bumper run is more persuasive

1st (8) (9/4 -29%) Anno Power |
9/4(-29%) | (8) Anno Power 9/4, Looked very promising in bumpers last season, winning at Ascot and Cheltenham once a hood went on. Good prospect for hurdling, a pure 2-miler on running style, although she looks to live on her nerves (free-goer) so her abundant ability will need to be channelled correctly. Won mares' bumpers at Ascot/Cheltenham; highly likeable prospect; could play leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/2 +46%) Big Ginge |
13/2(+46%) | (1) Big Ginge 13/2, Showed plenty of ability in trio of bumpers last season, headed dying strides having raced freely in 16-runner event at Ludlow in April. Bright prospect for hurdling. Hurdle debut; showed promise in bumpers but others had stronger form in that sphere. |

3rd (3) (14/1 -75%) De Kingpin |
14/1(-75%) | (3) De Kingpin 14/1, Well-bred 5-y-o who was picked up for £70,000 after finishing runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points and made an encouraging start to his career under Rules in 4-runner Doncaster bumper in March. Seems sure to have a future over jumps. Runner-up in a point and a bumper; may not come into his own until tackling further. |

4th (4) (125/1 -279%) Moab |
125/1(-279%) | (4) Moab 125/1, Fair maiden on the Flat and has shown aptitude for hurdling in 2 starts (not knocked about latest). Needs this for a handicap mark. Ordinary maiden on the Flat and beaten in the region of 16l on his two hurdle starts. |

10/3(-11%) | (7) Tradecraft 10/3, Runner-up in bumpers at Ascot and Kempton last winter before struggling in good contest at the Punchestown Festival. Plenty of potential for jumping. Runner-up in two warm bumpers last season; top stable has won three of last eight runnings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (25/1 +38%) Brother Boris |
25/1(+38%) | (2) Brother Boris 25/1, Showed ability in a bumper and 2 hurdles in the spring. Might need this and handicaps over further will probably be his bag. His yard is in fine form but he's yet to threaten and is likely to be vulnerable once more. |

8th (5) (15/8 +17%) Noahsgreatrainbow |
15/8(+17%) | (5) Noahsgreatrainbow 15/8, Made a likeable winning debut in bumper at Wincanton on Boxing Day and ran a fine race when second in listed contest at Newbury in February. Good hurdles prospect. Runner-up in Listed bumper; leading claims if transferring that promise to hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
ANNO POWER showed stacks of promise by winning two of her three starts in bumpers and is of high interest setting out over timber for the first time. A half-sister to a winner in this discipline, the Harry Fry-trained mare looks a bright prospect and commands serious attention granted the 7lb mares' allowance. Noahsgreatrainbow was a close second in a Listed bumper at Newbury when last seen and looks an obvious threat on that basis. Big Ginge and De Kingpin are also noteworthy contenders.
Some good hurdling prospects here, with NOAHSGREATRAINBOW taken to make a winning start in this sphere after a fine run in a listed bumper at Newbury when last seen. The free-going Anno Power could be very exciting if channelling her energy correctly. Nicky Henderson's Tradecraft could also be useful.
Listed bumper runner-up NOAHSGREATRAINBOW is an exciting prospect for Harry Derham and is taken to make a winning start over hurdles.

7/1(-8%) | (6) Jaccours 7/1, Shaped with promise when fourth in a pair of bumpers and again when filling the same spot in novice hurdle (16/1) at Worcester (16f, heavy) 25 days ago. Goes up in trip now and should have more to offer. Player with that form working out well. The longer trip is probable help on second start over hurdles; one of many with e-w claims. |

3rd (4) (15/8 +46%) Farland |
15/8(+46%) | (4) Farland 15/8, Fairly useful bumper winner. Had a winnd op before making a promising start in this sphere when third of 12 in novice hurdle (13/8) at Chepstow (16f, good to soft) 30 days ago, finishing well under considerate handling. Capable of better. Firmly in the mix. Plenty of ability in bumpers; never-nearer 3rd in 2m Chepstow novice, hanging persistently. |

33/1(-200%) | (1) Alan De Banks 33/1, Soldier of Fortune gelding who made a winning bumper debut at Newton Abbot and was also first past the post there in September (disqualified as ridden by banned jockey). 150/1(-50%) | (14) Small Town Hero 150/1, Point winner who has been brought along steadily in this sphere, sixth of seven in 2m4f Aintree maiden two weeks ago. Looks one for the longer term. Irish point winner but he needs to leave his rules form (three races) miles behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (66/1 -32%) Ipsos Des Bordes |
66/1(-32%) | (5) Ipsos Des Bordes 66/1, Cokoriko gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Ginger du Val and modest 17f chase winner Hidalgo des Bordes. This dual point winner needs considering now going hurdling. 2-4 in British points two seasons back for owner-trainer; this rules debut is a warm race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (28/1 -250%) Nels Son |
28/1(-250%) | (8) Nels Son 28/1, Promising debut third of 14 in novice hurdle at Wexford (20.4f, good to soft, 3/1) 120 days ago on sole run for Colm Murphy. Seems sure to do better for his new yard. 3-1 from 13-2 when third of 14 for maiden at Wexford (2m4f, good) in July for Colm Murphy. |

14th (3) (200/1 0%) Don't Ask Fitz |
200/1(0%) | (3) Don't Ask Fitz 200/1, Placed in points but yet to offer much in two runs over hurdles at Uttoxeter and Stratford this autumn. Hard to fancy. Made the frame in his two points but no worthwhile form in his two maiden hurdles. |

|PU| (7) (125/1 -279%) Ligety |
125/1(-279%) | (7) Ligety 125/1, Green when an encouraging fifth of 11 in bumper (33/1) at Warwick (16f, good) on NH debut 6 months ago. Much respected on his hurdles debut with cheekpieces fitted. Promising fifth of 11 in Warwick bumper in April; wandered and cheekpieces are now fitted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Nels Son and Churchstone Rover both offered plenty to work with on their respective third-placed hurdle introductions when trained in Ireland and they must enter calculations. However, the highly-regarded CREST OF FORTUNE was far from disgraced when finishing fifth in the valuable Goffs UK Spring Sale Bumper at Newbury in March and he looks just the type to excel now tackling hurdles. Anthony Honeyball's gelding gets the verdict, while Rula Bula and Ski Lodge are other interesting contenders.
Lots of potential on show here, not least Olly Murphy's JACCOURS who is fancied to build on his promising Worcester fourth (form been franked) now his stamina is drawn out more and get off the mark. Farland also shaped well when third at Chepstow last time and could emerge as the main danger, with Churchstone Rover and Nels Son also with the form to have a say. Newcomers Ski Lodge, Crest of Fortune and Tokyo Tom also need factoring into this intriguing maiden.
This is packed with interest almost all the way down the card. SKI LODGE and Rula Bula ended bumper campaigns on positive notes.

1st (7) (11/2 +0%) The Busy Fool |
11/2(+0%) | (7) The Busy Fool 11/2, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Career best when winning 9-runner handicap hurdle (11/5) at Tipperary (16f, good to soft) 6 months ago. Back up in trip and in the picture. Stays this trip and the lack of a recent run should not be an issue; could go well. |

2nd (6) (6/1 +33%) Park Of Kings |
6/1(+33%) | (6) Park Of Kings 6/1, Latest win in hurdle at Gowran in October. Tenth of 11 in handicap hurdle (7/2) at Punchestown (20f, good) 25 days ago so needs to get back on track. Good claims on his best form but would not appear to the owner's first choice. |

10/3(+79%) | (8) Sir Allen 10/3, Respectable ninth of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (14f, good to soft, 5/1) 24 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Can give a good account. Flat winner back over hurdles here and has the handicap experience to be competitive. |

4/1(+27%) | (5) Win Some Lose Some 4/1, 3 wins from 5 runs this season. 10/3, career best when winning 11-runner handicap hurdle at Clonmel (19.5f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Not taken lightly. Up 8lb for Clonmel but has a nice weight and continues on the upgrade; leading contender. |

5th (3) (11/1 -100%) Gaoth Chuil |
11/1(-100%) | (3) Gaoth Chuil 11/1, 28/1, seventh of 13 in maiden at the Curragh (12f, soft) on flat debut 19 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Needs a couple of these to falter. Ran okay in a 1m4f Flat maiden at the Curragh last month and is one for the shortlist here. |

6th (9) (18/1 -29%) First Dare |
18/1(-29%) | (9) First Dare 18/1, 1 win from 3 runs this season. 5/2, sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (16.3f, good) 25 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Up in trip. Hood back on. Possibilities. Disappointing in a mares handicap at Punchestown last time off this mark; others preferred. |

7th (1) (9/1 -64%) Happy Jacky |
9/1(-64%) | (1) Happy Jacky 9/1, Is enjoying an excellent season and posted a fine second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (24f, good) 36 days ago. Big shout. Drop back in trip is not a problem and the stable continues in fine form; should go close. |

8th (2) (18/1 -100%) Espanito Bello |

15/2(+46%) | (11) Missus Beeton 15/2, Good second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20f, good, 5/1) 25 days ago. Not ruled out. Touched off at Punchestown last month; good 7lb claimer up and looks capable of a big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (50/1 -257%) Shanroe |
50/1(-257%) | (4) Shanroe 50/1, 25/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Chester (15.9f, soft) 57 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Up in trip. Useful hurdler so he's no forlorn hope. Ran okay when trying a repeat win a 1m6f Listed at Chester in August; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (16/1 +0%) Natural Look |
16/1(+0%) | (10) Natural Look 16/1, Latest win in hurdle at Clonmel in May. 5/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Limerick (19.2f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Handily weighted if back on song here. Never travelled in a Limerick handicap chase last month; each-way chance on her best form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There looks a bit more to come from the five-year-old WIN SOME LOSE SOME. The Champs Elysees gelding found more late on to get up at Clonmel last time and was a cosy enough winner at the line. He was hit with an 8lb hike for that but going a bit further and a stiff uphill finish here should suit. The admirable veteran Happy Jacky heads the weights and should be a big player. The Milan gelding got collared late on at Gowran Park last time and is 3lb higher now. The Busy Fool was a winner last time but that came back in April. He could be a contender if ready to roll on his return.
Plenty are in with a shout. HAPPY JACKY arrives on the back of an excellent Gowran second so edges the vote at the chief expense of The Busy Fool who is also weighted to have a say on his seasonal return. Win Some Lose Some, Natural Look and First Dare are others to consider in this very open contest.
Preference is for bottom-weight MISSUS BEETON, a progressive mare that went desperately close at Punchestown last month

1st (2) (11/2 +45%) Brookie |
11/2(+45%) | (2) Brookie 11/2, A fairly useful hurdler/chaser in Ireland who advanced his form when landing a pair of handicap hurdles for his current yard last winter. Not ruled out reverted to fences for his seasonal return. Hasn't shone over fences previously but this three-time hurdle winner is not discounted. |

2nd (3) (7/2 +65%) Classic Anthem |
7/2(+65%) | (3) Classic Anthem 7/2, Expensive recruit from the Irish pointing field who scored over hurdles at Sandown (2m) in December. Not discredited when fourth in handicap at Southwell in May but this is no easy introduction to chasing. Won here over hurdles and this lightly raced point winner could be suited by fences. |

3rd (4) (13/2 +59%) Kansas Du Berlais |
13/2(+59%) | (4) Kansas Du Berlais 13/2, A fairly useful hurdles winner who comes here on the back of a well-held fourth of 6 in novice at Ascot (12f) on Flat debut 37 days ago. Goes over fences now with plenty on his plate. Two-time hurdle winner; improvement needed from 2lb out of the handicap on chase debut. |

|PU| (1) (8/11 -227%) Jeriko Du Reponet |
8/11(-227%) | (1) Jeriko Du Reponet 8/11, Successful on his only start in points and looked a fine prospe when winning his 3 starts over hurdles, bagging the Grade 2 Rossington Main at Doncaster. Pulled up in Supreme Hurdle at Cheltenham on his final run but remains with considerable potential now going chasing. Most interesting. Exciting prospect; excuse for sole defeat; top trainer has high hopes for him over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
JERIKO DU REPONET looks just the type that could excel over fences this season for leading connections, having scored in a point-to-point previously. Unbeaten in three starts over hurdles last season before an excusable display when pulled up in the Supreme. The five-year-old sets a lofty standard on form and is preferred to fellow chasing newcomer Kansas Du Berlais, who had a decent pipe-opener on the Flat at Ascot last month. Twice a winner last season for new connections, Brookie could be interesting if taking to this discipline on the fourth attempt.
JERIKO DU REPONET brings considerable potential to the novice chasing ranks and is fancied to go in at the first time of asking before tackling better company. Brookie has experience on his side and appeals as the one to chase home Nicky Henderson's smart winning hurdler.
The Nicky Henderson-trained JERIKO DU REPONET could evolve into a top-notch novice chaser and he can make light of his opening mark.

In the mix on his seasonal return. Two handicap wins over 3m+ in the mud last term; not seen since a fall in April. |

2nd (9) (5/4 +55%) Broughshane |
5/4(+55%) | (9) Broughshane 5/4, Successful sole start between the flags and advanced his form on his handicap debut when a ready winner at Fontwell (19f, good to soft) 37 days ago. Up 9 lb but this son of Mahler has more to offer, especially now stepping up in trip. Big shout. Much improved to win tidily on handicap debut at Fontwell; up 9lb and in trip but a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (16/1 -191%) Stratton Oakmont |
16/1(-191%) | (5) Stratton Oakmont 16/1, Reliable sort who resumed winning ways in 8-runner handicap hurdle at Exeter (23.1f, heavy) in March. Off 7 months but can make his presence felt once more. Very solid last season and found some improvement too; stays well and effective in the mud. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8/1(-23%) | (4) Howaya Now 8/1, Got off the mark in 5-runner novice hurdle at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) in April. Much respected back in handicap company for his seasonal return. Eighth start under rules when winning a maiden at Exeter in April last time; stays 3m+. |

6th (8) (20/1 -43%) Iberio |
20/1(-43%) | (8) Iberio 20/1, A fair 3m winner over hurdles but failed to score over fences for Philip Hobbs & Johnson White. Again made mistakes when pulled up on his yard debut in 3m2f Chepstow handicap chase 12 days ago. Needs to step forward back in this sphere. Back from chasing; well treated were he to recapture his best form. |

7th (7) (7/1 -40%) Fortified Fortune |
7/1(-40%) | (7) Fortified Fortune 7/1, £115,000 recruit from the Irish pointing field and got off the mark in 2m novice hurdle at Newton Abbot in May. Should have more to offer now that he goes back up in trip for his handicap debut. Promising at 2m3f/2m1f this spring; it's striking to see this handicap debut is over 3m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (16/1 +20%) Ballymagroarty Boy |
16/1(+20%) | (1) Ballymagroarty Boy 16/1, C&D winner but off 6 months before a below-form seventh of 13 in handicap hurdle (18/1) at Exeter (23.1f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Can build on it now. 11yo; recent reappearance may have done him some good but others have more pressing claims. |

9th (3) (6/1 +57%) Fair Frontieres |
6/1(+57%) | (3) Fair Frontieres 6/1, Got back on track with cheekpieces on for 1st time when third of 9 in handicap hurdle at Kempton (21f, good to soft) in May. Since had a wind op and very much one to consider off a lenient mark. Front-running 3rd in May but still needs to step up a gear; had wind surgery in September. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having proved a different proposition when making a winning handicap/seasonal debut over 2m3f at Fontwell last month, there is likely more to come from BROUGHSHANE. The son of Mahler got the better of a subsequent winner and, with this 3m distance expected to suit, a 9lb higher mark may not be enough to prevent him from following up. Dangers are aplenty, with the unexposed Fortified Fortune feared most, ahead of the progressive Stratton Oakmont.
Lots with chances but BROUGHSHANE remains on a workable mark despite taking a 9 lb rise for his stylish Fontwell victory with this step up in trip also a plus for this son of Mahler. The handily-weighted Fair Frontieres is feared most, although Woodie Flash, Stratton Oakmont and Fortified Fortune all need considering too.
The two most interesting candidates, open to the most improvement, are Broughshane and FORTIFIED FORTUNE.

Off 7 months but can make his presence felt with yard in good form. Fell short at Cheltenham and Aintree; this sort of race might just suit him a bit better. |

2nd (4) (8/11 -18%) Marine Nationale |
8/11(-18%) | (4) Marine Nationale 8/11, High-class hurdler/chaser who lost his unbeaten record when fifth of 6 to Il Etait Temps in Irish Arkle Novices' Chase at Leopardstown (17f, soft). Off 9 months but very much the one to beat. Bids to restore faith here and could hardly be better treated by the race conditions. |

3rd (1) (10/3 +26%) Hercule Du Seuil |
10/3(+26%) | (1) Hercule Du Seuil 10/3, Smart chaser. 11/1, 5¾ lengths third of 4 to Il Etait Temps in Barberstown Castle Novices' Chase (Colliers) at Punchestown (16.3f, good to soft). Off 6 months but needs considering. Probably suited by this sort of small field conditions chase but faces a tough enough task. |

4th (2) (22/1 -38%) Lucid Dreams |
22/1(-38%) | (2) Lucid Dreams 22/1, Useful chaser. 12¼ lengths third of 5 to Found A Fifty in Skymas Chase at Down Royal (19.6f, good to soft, 6/1) 8 days ago. More is needed here. The drop back in trip is probably not a worry but would undoubtedly prefer it softer. |

5th (5) (125/1 -25%) Miss Gherkin |
125/1(-25%) | (5) Miss Gherkin 125/1, Fair hurdler/chaser who posted a good second of 7 in novice chase (25/1) at Sligo (17.6f, good) 39 days ago. This is a tough ask though. Good second in a mares chase at Sligo last month but looks out of her depth here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This looks like a nice starting point for MARINE NATIONALE, in a race where he gets weight from his main rivals. The French Navy gelding looked to have the world at his feet when running out an easy winner of the Supreme Novices' in March 2023 but he has something to prove now having disappointed when last seen in the Irish Arkle in February. Hercule Du Seuil ran well at Punchestown when third in Grade 1 company and is top rated on 150. Giving 9lb to the selection could be tough, though. Quilixios was only a neck behind Hercule Du Seuil when the pair were fourth and fifth at Aintree and gets 5lb from that rival here, so he's another leading contender.
Barry Connell's high-class MARINE NATIONALE is fancied to make light of his absence and quickly resume winning ways in this Grade 3 chase at the chief expense of C&D winner Quilixios who represents the in-form Henry de Bromhead team. Hercule du Seuil appeals as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
His novice campaign did not go to plan, but top novice hurdler MARINE NATIONALE has the ideal opportunity here to get back on track

6/1(+33%) | (7) Jour D'evasion 6/1, Fair novice hurdle winner last season. 14/1 when unseating at the first on Ascot handicap debut/reappearance 8 days ago. Pretty consistent in novice hurdles last season and not ruled out for in-form trainer. |

3rd (3) (6/5 +52%) Lario |
6/5(+52%) | (3) Lario 6/5, Winner of his completed start over hurdles for Anthony Charlton last winter and creditable third in novices in the spring on first 2 outings for Harry Derham. Failed to feature in a warm C&D handicap on his final start but no surprise were he to make more of an impact this time. Merely mid-division over C&D on handicap debut but in calmer waters today; player. |

4th (5) (18/1 -200%) Peking Opera |
18/1(-200%) | (5) Peking Opera 18/1, Useful on Flat for Aidan O'Brien and made winning hurdle debut over C&D in February. Well held in fourth when falling last in the Grade 2 Adonis at Kempton 3 weeks later but retains potential now handicapping for the first time in this sphere. Fit from the Flat and wears first-time cheekpieces. Question mark regarding current form, but mileage in his mark judged on old Flat ability. |

5th (4) (16/1 -78%) Hystery Bere |
16/1(-78%) | (4) Hystery Bere 16/1, Fairly useful hurdle and chase winner. Fit from a respectable third over fences at Exeter last month but might be vulnerable to some of the less-exposed sorts in this line-up. On a handy mark and could benefit from the drop back in trip now reverting to hurdles. |

6th (1) (25/1 -178%) Zambezi Fix |
25/1(-178%) | (1) Zambezi Fix 25/1, Added to his good Chepstow record with chase and hurdle wins last season. Has run well over C&D before but it might be best to look elsewhere for win purposes away from Chepstow. Won at Chepstow in April when last seen; can give a good account if fully tuned up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (13/2 -117%) Don Hollow |
13/2(-117%) | (6) Don Hollow 13/2, Bumper/maiden hurdle winner in 2022 and made an encouraging return from an 18-month absence when fifth of 11 in 17f Carlisle handicap 17 days ago. Given a chance to build on that promise. Fair fifth at Carlisle recently when back from long absence; could build on that; chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A highly consistent sort throughout last season, ZAMBEZI FIX was last seen scoring comfortably at Chepstow in April for which he has been raised 5lb. Bernard Llewellyn's charge has run well fresh in the past, and he can follow up at the main expense of Ooh Betty, who drops in class having finished runner-up in Listed company at Cheltenham last time out. A winner on debut over C&D in February before falling in the Adonis, Peking Opera is of interest on his return in this sphere, while the unexposed Lario cannot be ruled out either.
DON HOLLOW gets the nod to build on a promising comeback run at Carlisle last month. Peking Opera should be spot on for this after a pair of Flat runs last month and is second choice ahead of Lario, who should find this a touch easier than the ultra-competitive novice handicap he contested here when last seen in the spring.
The unexposed 5yo LARIO (nap) drops back down in grade for his second handicap start and gets the nod for the in-form Harry Derham.

9/2(+31%) | (5) Lermoos Legend 9/2, Six-time winner over fences but he's been operating below his best in recent months and no upturn for switch back to hurdles when fourth of 15 in handicap at Chepstow (19.4f) 12 days ago. Handicapper has given him a big chance, however. In good form during the summer but seems to have gone off the boil lately. |

2nd (3) (8/1 -100%) Mumbles |
8/1(-100%) | (3) Mumbles 8/1, Went the right way in handicaps over hurdles last term, gaining a second victory at Fontwell (19.2f) in March. Looked all about stamina when fourth from career-high mark over 20f here later that month so drop back to 2m may not suit ideally now attentions switch to chasing. Chase debutant; gained his hurdling wins over 2m3f on heavy; may find this test inadequate. |

3rd (1) (9/1 +18%) As Tears Go By |
9/1(+18%) | (1) As Tears Go By 9/1, Hit the target twice for Gordon Elliott in 2023 and following a very low-key start for present stable, he stopped the slide when second over fences at Stratford (21f, heavy) 3 weeks ago, finishing tired. Now his task is to build on that effort. Ran well from the front when second to useful rival at Stratford last month; a possible. |

Down markedly in trip on return but switch to chasing could well see him in an even better light. Had wind op. Made the frame in all four handicap hurdles; looks an interesting chase prospect. |

Exploits decidedly mixed during first half of this year but he was campaigned over further latterly and the return to the minimum trip can help. Better anticipated from much-reduced mark. Below best in the spring but has won over C&D and when fresh before; market may guide. |

|PU| (7) (66/1 -164%) Time To Dazzle |
66/1(-164%) | (7) Time To Dazzle 66/1, Well served by change of tactics when making second start in handicaps a winning one over hurdles at Fontwell (19.2f) in February. Absent since finishing well held on chase debut for Gary & Josh Moore in May and he changed hands for only £1000 later that month. Sold out of Moore stable for £1,000 after poor chasing debut in May. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Chase debutant Heard That was knocking on the door in handicap hurdles last season and he warrants respect in this sphere given his point-to-point background. With that being said, this 2m trip may prove on the sharp side for the Watar gelding and MUMBLES shades the verdict. Evan Williams' inmate looked to be biding his time over the smaller obstacles during his last campaign and fences could be the making of him. You Say Nothing is now 8lb below his C&D victory in May 2023 and market support on his return would be interesting.
The betting can prove useful in assessing the quintet of chasing debutants but C&D winner YOU SAY NOTHING returns from a break lurking on a very handy mark and, with the drop back in trip another likely plus, he could be worth siding with to bounce back. Of the chasing newcomers, Heard That, Roger and Mumbles make most appeal and head up the dangers.
A chance is taken on DOORS BREAKER, who might have been revitalised by a change of stable.

1st (2) (4/6 +0%) Farren Glory |
4/6(+0%) | (2) Farren Glory 4/6, Grade 1 novice hurdle winner last season. Promising second of 13 in maiden at Wexford (16f, heavy) on debut over fences 13 days ago. Hard to beat with improvement likely. Found Inthepocket too good at Wexford; decent opportunity to get off the mark here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/4 +71%) Ho My Lord |
7/4(+71%) | (4) Ho My Lord 7/4, Useful form in maiden chases for Willie Mullins last winter. Has changed stable ahead of reappearance. Might be the main threat to Farren Glory if fully primed after a 9-month break. Not seen since January; debuts for Padraig Roche here and has run well fresh in the past. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (20/1 +39%) Clonshire River |
20/1(+39%) | (1) Clonshire River 20/1, Fair hurdler. 25/1, sixth of 12 in maiden at Punchestown (16.6f, good) on debut over fences 25 days ago. Soundly beaten on his chasing debut at Punchestown last month and up against it here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 +0%) One Last Tango |
12/1(+0%) | (5) One Last Tango 12/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Similar form over fences last twice, finishing fourth of 9 in novice chase at Galway (18.2f, good to soft, 12/1) 15 days ago. Respectable efforts in a pair of beginners chases at Galway; will get a mark after this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
FARREN GLORY should be hard to beat here on his second outing over fences. The Grade 1-winning hurdler chased home impressive scorer Inthepocket on his chase debut at Wexford 13 days ago and is entitled to improve for that experience. He doesn't face anything of that class now. Ho My Lord makes his first start for Padraig Roche and may be the one to give him most to do. He had some good novice form last season, including chasing home Il Etait Temps at Thurles. Owner JP McManus also has One Last Tango and he could get closer now after a couple of spins over fences.
FARREN GLORY should be very hard to beat on the back of his promising opening effort over fences at Wexford. Ho My Lord had some decent form in similar races last season and might be the one to follow him home on his return for new trainer Padraig Roche.
This looks a decent opprtunity for Grade 1-winning novice hurdler FARREN GLORY after a good first effort at Wexford

1st (1) (15/8 +17%) Certainly Red |
15/8(+17%) | (1) Certainly Red 15/8, Good record here, fourth in the bet365 Gold Cup in April fitted with first-time cheekpieces (back on now). Made an encouraging return in one of these events at Chepstow last month, no match for rejuvenated handicap blot Copperhead, with Good Boy Bobby third. Leading claims. Second to Copperhead at Chepstow on reappearance and now 11lb better off; likes it here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (2/1 -23%) Copperhead |
2/1(-23%) | (3) Copperhead 2/1, Has emerged from an extended spell in the doldrums to some tune, landing 3 handicaps in a row from a much-reduced mark relative to his smart peak, including one of these at Chepstow from the returning Certainly Red and Good Boy Bobby. 8 lb hit and might find those two rivals reversing the form now. Won his last three; has shot back up the weights but still has mileage in mark on old form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/4 +10%) Good Boy Bobby |
9/4(+10%) | (2) Good Boy Bobby 9/4, Back-to-back winner in 3m veterans' handicap chases this time last year, including this race. Should have come on for Chepstow return behind Copperhead and Certainly Red and seems sure to give his running. Reappeared with encouraging third behind two of these; won this last year; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (17/2 -6%) Moroder |
17/2(-6%) | (4) Moroder 17/2, Ran easily his best race last season on his final start when fitted with first-time blinkers and second at Cheltenham. Should have come on for Exeter return when headgear was left off and cheekpieces now tried on his first go in a veterans' event. Second in the 2023 bet365 here and he's interesting. Pulled up on reappearance but showed considerable spark on final run last season. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
COPPERHEAD is mopping up in this sphere and arrives chasing a four-timer following wins at Plumpton, Chepstow and Aintree. He's picked up this season where he left off in May and had the reopposing Certainly Red (second) and Good Boy Bobby (third) behind when scoring impressively at Chepstow two starts back. He then bolted up at Aintree a fortnight ago and Joe Tizzard is still banging in the winners, so it's difficult to get away from the 10-year-old.
All four runners can have a case made for them but CERTAINLY RED has a decent record at Sandown and could be the way to go after his encouraging comeback at Chepstow behind 4-timer seeking Copperhead. Moroder was second in the bet365 Gold Cup here in 2023 and lurks on a very dangerous mark with headgear back on. Last year's winner Good Boy Bobby also shaped well on return behind Copperhead and is firmly in the mix, also.
Copperhead is on a four-timer but CERTAINLY RED has a persuasive pull in the weights from their clash at Chepstow last month.

1st (14) (9/1 +10%) Lady Harriett |
9/1(+10%) | (14) Lady Harriett 9/1, Went close at Cartmel in August but has performed below that level twice since, beaten just over 25 lengths into fourth over 3m here latterly. Wears first-time cheekpieces and drops in trip in a bid to get back to her best. Close second at Cartmel (3m1f, heavy); out of form since; headgear for the first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (22/1 +33%) Kingoftheswingerz |
22/1(+33%) | (5) Kingoftheswingerz 22/1, Third on Wincanton hurdle debut last December but failed to reproduce that in 3 subsequent outings last season, including a handicap. A wind operation ahead of this reappearance needs to have had a positive effect. Ran poorly on handicap debut; wind surgery in July and now tongue tied for the first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (16/5 -7%) Ionity |
16/5(-7%) | (8) Ionity 16/5, Improved again to open his account in C&D handicap in May and returned with a creditable third of 13 at Ludlow 17 days ago. No reason why he won't give another good account of himself. Won over C&D in May in his second handicap and placed in the other two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (50/1 -25%) Parish Star |
50/1(-25%) | (13) Parish Star 50/1, Modest form on the Flat in Ireland for Jim Bolger and made little impact over hurdles last season, including handicaps. Has had wind surgery ahead of reappearance. Needs marked improvement on this first run since wind surgery in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (33/1 0%) Trevor's Lad |
33/1(0%) | (7) Trevor's Lad 33/1, Displayed definite promise on first of his 2 starts in novice hurdles during 2022/23 season but has struggled in only 2 handicap starts since. Third on hurdling debut two years ago but no comparable form in his only three runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (33/1 +0%) Hi Riko |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Hi Riko 33/1, More miss than hit in the first half of this year but was runner-up twice in handicaps last November. Has left Richard Hobson ahead of reappearance. Also hooded first time. Second twice last November; off 190 days and has left Richard Hobson; hood first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (20/1 +50%) Pescatorius |
20/1(+50%) | (11) Pescatorius 20/1, Poor form, including no impact in 3 handicaps. Lacks solid claims, particularly after his three handicaps; second run since wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (33/1 -65%) Pooroldmackley |
33/1(-65%) | (9) Pooroldmackley 33/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and has offered little in 3 qualifying runs this season. It is possible handicaps will see him in a better light but the stable's other runners have more obvious claims. Makes handicap debut but the yard seems to have a far stronger candidate in Ionity. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (3/1 +57%) Chauffeur Driven |
3/1(+57%) | (3) Chauffeur Driven 3/1, Point winner. Also third in maiden/novice hurdles around 2m last winter but disappointed when stepped up to 25f for his handicap debut at Huntingdon in March. Back down in trip on reappearance with cheekpieces added. Still early days and one to note in the betting. Cheekpieces go on after handicap debut flop; interesting to see if his backers return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (11/1 -10%) Mount Washington |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Mount Washington 11/1, Showed a fair level of ability on bumper debut. Has yet to better poor form over hurdles but she did hint at promise when sixth on her 2m Stratford handicap debut and reappearance 3 weeks ago, shaping as if this return to a longer trip will suit. Yet to be seriously competitive over hurdles; did not show much on seasonal/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (13/2 +19%) Villainess |
13/2(+19%) | (1) Villainess 13/2, Came good in a 2m Stratford maiden in April but has been unable to make a significant impact in handicaps on her 2 outings since. Back up in trip. More to prove over this trip but she makes more appeal than the big majority of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (8/1 -60%) Drumlee Spud |
8/1(-60%) | (2) Drumlee Spud 8/1, Hasn't built on a promising start to her career, pulling up in a 19f Fontwell handicap on her reappearance 18 days ago. The fact she went off at 7/4 on that occasion suggests a lot better was expected and it'll be interesting to see whether there's money for her again now fitted with cheekpieces. Backpedalling when making a mistake two out on reappearance (favourite); first headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (10/1 -54%) Top Kap |
10/1(-54%) | (6) Top Kap 10/1, Modest form at best in a bumper and maiden/novice hurdles but handicaps provide him with a much more realistic chance back from 6 months off. Interesting runner, particularly if backed. Major yard; needs better after some heavy defeats but makes his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (25/1 +38%) Sindri |
25/1(+38%) | (12) Sindri 25/1, Maiden on the Flat and has yet to achieve much over hurdles, not jumping well when comfortably held in Exeter handicap on reappearance and yard debut last month. Modest maiden on Flat and after four starts (one for this yard) over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) (80/1 -142%) Grandmaster Flash |
80/1(-142%) | (15) Grandmaster Flash 80/1, Three-time AW winner on the Flat but no real impact in his 6 starts over hurdles, pulling up at Newton Abbot when last seen in May. Blinkers replace cheekpieces. Seldom threatened to be competitive as hurdler; reverts to blinkers from usual cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In a moderate event IONITY is hard to oppose having won over C&D in May and he was third at Ludlow on his return to action last month. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give him a big chance here. The main threat may prove to be Villainess and she may improve following her sixth at Uttoxeter a few weeks ago. The rest all have questions to answer, but Chauffeur Driven and Lady Harriett are the pick of them.
IONITY is the most solid option back at the scene of his C&D win in May but there are a few unexposed sorts in opposition who could easily take a step forward, headed by Alan King's Top Kap and the selection's stablemate Mount Washington, who ought to appreciate this longer trip.
It's an early stage in some of these careers but at the moment it looks as if IONITY is easily the most solid candidate.

LAU AND SHAZ looked to bump into a smart sort in Mummy Derry at Punchestown last month and can get her head in front now. The Kayf Tara filly had shaped with promise when seventh on her debut in the Goffs Bumper at the festival meeting in April and can make it third-time lucky. Carrigmoornaspruce was no match for impressive winner Amen Kate on her debut in Listowel but stayed on nicely to finish second and the form looks good with the third horse winning since. Shesakindofmagic showed some promise on her debut last year and could get closer now on her first outing for Anthony McCann.
CARRIGMOORNASPRUCE shaped well when second on her Listowel debut and can build on that promise and go one better now. Gavin Cromwell pair Lau And Shaz and Murphy Place can give her most to do.
Her two runs at Punchestown makes LAU AND SHAZ the standard-setter here and she can collect

The mount of Nico de Boinville from the yard's pair. Dam useful dual-purpose performer; trainer won this in 2016 and 2020; could have a big say. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Gary and Josh Moore sent out an impressive bumper winner at Newbury this week so it will be interesting to see what the market makes of newcomer Edward Sexton and Hurricane Pat, who has twice finished runner-up between the flags in Ireland. Broxy Music looks the pick of Nicky Henderson's pair judged on jockey bookings and Old Park Star is another newcomer to note, but this can go the way of YOUDECIDE. The point-to-point scorer might be a bit of value for the shrewd Ben Pauling team.
Several good stables are represented in what has the look of a warm bumper. Harry Derham point recruit KIWI RUSH gets a tentative vote ahead of Broxy Music, Old Park Star and Next Twist in a race where the betting is sure to provide more clues.
Paul Nicholls won this 12 months ago with an odds-on newcomer and 120,000euros buy OLD PARK STAR is taken to make a winning debut.

4/1(+67%) | (11) Stylia 4/1, £30,000 buy after finishing runner-up on her completed start in Irish points in May 2024. Harry Cobden partners the yard's other runners but this one still needs checking out in the betting. Bought for £30,000 after Irish point second in May; stable's other runner appeals more. |

125/1(-25%) | (4) Grayland 125/1, 33/1, eleventh of 14 in bumper at Uttoxeter (2m, good) on debut 107 days ago. Always behind when 33-1 for debut at Uttoxeter in July. |

100/1(-257%) | (8) Mustamento 100/1, 18/1 and hooded, achieved little when a well-held third of 6 in Warwick bumper on debut 47 days ago. Big step up needed. Showed only minor promise when well-held third of six at Warwick in September. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Mighty Fleur and Reel Orange are the pick of those with race experience but the level they set is not particularly high. As a result, a chance can be taken on EASY LOVE, who cost 80,000 euros after winning an Irish point-to-point in April. I Am The Moon has a pedigree that suggests that she could go well in this sphere, while similar comments apply to Highland Haven and Ramalamadingdong.
A concluding bumper where the betting is likely to be informative. Before any such clues are known the suggestion is EASY LOVE, who won an Irish point in the spring and has Harry Cobden booked for this Rules debut. I Am The Moon, Highland Haven and Visions of Johana are newcomers who make paper appeal, while Mighty Fleur should also feature after placing twice at Uttoxeter earlier in the year.
The suggestion is Irish point winner EASY LOVE, who has joined a stable with a very good bumper record.
Ths is the racecard key.
