The Aidan O'Brien-trained DOUBLE VISION, a son of Wooton Bassett out of Irish 1000 Guineas third So Wonderful, is a prime candidate to get off the mark at the first time of asking. However, there several well-bred alternatives to also consider. Not least Mousse, who ticks all the right boxes and paper and is an attractive option with the fillies allowance a big bonus. Josesph O'Brien won this race last year and fields another strong hand, with Cinammon Coco and Kibris spearheading his six entrants. Propose and Game Point complete the shortlist.
IRON FIST sets a reasonable standard for a maiden on the back of his recent C&D second and gets the vote. Game Point and Red King have shown promise and should also have a part to play. Aidan O'Brien pair Propose and Double Vision head the many newcomers who need checking out in the betting.
This is a potential minefield but perhaps GAME POINT has most to offer following a debut fourth behind a group of Ballydoyle colts

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
JANE EIRE has run well in two maiden hurdles to date and contests a winnable race. Having shown promise on debut at Down Royal in August, she was beaten a short-head in a useful Gowran maiden last month and, with proven form on good ground and over this distance, should take the beating. Torps is a danger as despite having no previous jumping experience, he showed nice ability running in a tongue-tie on his Listowel bumper debut. That eventful race provided a bunch finish but the more experienced winner followed up next time and Torps will be well schooled. Grimaud is a dual French Flat winner with form at middle-distances and debuts over jumps for a top yard.
JANE EIRE stepped up on debut when only just failing at Gowran and this looks a good opening. The Sugarhill Lady also built on her first start when fourth at Limerick and is next best ahead of Torps, who showed a bit in a bumper at Listowel.
Perhaps unlucky not to win at Gowran last time, JANE EIRE has the benefit of two runs over hurdles and can go one better today.

1st (3) (16/5 -28%) Dare To Shout |
16/5(-28%) | (3) Dare To Shout 16/5, A fairly useful winning hurdler who made a promising chasing bow on the back of breathing surgery when a clear second of 7 in 2m4f Hexham handicap 22 days ago. He's a player off just a 1 lb higher mark. Solid chase debut at Hexham; this is stronger but he does have a run under his belt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (9/4 +78%) Malaita |
9/4(+78%) | (6) Malaita 9/4, A dual 2m4f chase winner at Ludlow and Cheltenham last season and he got back on track when third of 6 in 2m4f Uttoxeter handicap 16 days ago. This likeable mare has experience on her side and needs considering. Solid profile over fences but after nine chase starts she's the most exposed of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (6/1 -167%) Springtime Promise |
6/1(-167%) | (2) Springtime Promise 6/1, Showed useful form when completing his hat-trick over hurdles in Jane Seymour Mares' Novices at Sandown (19.8f, soft) in February. A noteworthy chasing debutant. Grade 2-winning hurdler and her pointing background bodes well for chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (6/4 +67%) Uncle Bert |
6/4(+67%) | (1) Uncle Bert 6/4, Developed into a useful hurdler last season, winning 3 times, but he made mistakes when coming in last of 3 on his chasing debut at Uttoxeter (2m) last month. This longer trip should suit and he's worth another chance. Did well last season over hurdles; 2m on good ground was no good to him on chase debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
DARE TO SHOUT finished a long way clear of the third when filling the runner-up spot in this grade at Hexham last time and he is only 1lb higher for that effort. The son of Martaline could have plenty more to offer on only his second chase start and he looks the one to beat. Springtime Promise is a Grade 2 winner over hurdles and she has to be respected on her first start over fences, while President Scottie is another to watch out for.
A case can be made for all of these but DARE TO SHOUT made a promising start in this sphere when a recent runner-up at Hexham and he can build on it with Brian Hughes now up. Springtime Promise has the potential to make his mark in this sphere and could emerge as the main danger, although Malaita, President Scottie and Leader In The Park all command plenty of respect too in an intriguing handicap.
All five should run well. UNCLE BERT is taken to leave his initial effort over fences well behind now back up in trip on softer ground.

1st (1) (5/6 -25%) Big Gossey |
5/6(-25%) | (1) Big Gossey 5/6, Smart gelding. 6-time course winner. 5/1, creditable length third of 8 to My Mate Alfie in listed race at Naas (5.9f, good to soft) 22 days ago, running on. Shortlist material returned to 7f. Last year's winner, in fine form recently, trip and soft ground fine, the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 -27%) Wexford Native |
7/2(-27%) | (3) Wexford Native 7/2, Useful dual winner at 3 yrs who ran well after a lengthy absence when third of 6 in Leopardstown Group 3 in May of last year. Clearly not the easiest to train having been absent a further 18 months ahead of this but he's respected nevertheless. Classy form in 2022, only seen once last year, off 546 days and is probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/2 +50%) Mataariki |
11/2(+50%) | (5) Mataariki 11/2, Cracksman filly who displayed fairly useful form when making a winning debut in a Gowran maiden (1m) in April. Not in anything like the same form when tenth of 14 in minor event at that venue (9.5f) in June but it remains early days back from a break. Impressive winner at Gowran, didn't back that up latest, place chance if back at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (10/1 +17%) Midream |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Midream 10/1, Fairly useful, dual 6f winner for Ed Walker. Didn't shape badly starting out for new yard when fifth of 8 in handicap at Dundalk (7f, 28/1) 16 days ago but she's a bit to find on these terms if she's to play a lead role. Won twice for Ed Walker, solid debut for this yard at Dundalk over 7f, place chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (200/1 -100%) Miss Australie |
200/1(-100%) | (8) Miss Australie 200/1, Belardo filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Sir Taweel. 150/1, eighth of 11 in maiden at Naas (7f, good to soft) on debut 22 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. 150-1 and beaten 11.5l on debut, up against it in this company on that evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (125/1 -89%) Ivasecret |
125/1(-89%) | (2) Ivasecret 125/1, Fair gelding. Latest win at Laytown in September. Fell in novice hurdle (8/1) at Limerick (16.3f, good to soft) 14 days ago, 3 lengths clear when coming down 3 out. Mountain to climb on these terms returning to the level. Six time AW winner, 0-12 on turf, rated just 60, faces an impossible task on these terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (13/2 +41%) Nightcliff |
13/2(+41%) | (7) Nightcliff 13/2, Fairly useful filly. C&D winner. 13 lengths twelfth of 14 to Power Under Me in Concorde Stakes (100/1) at Tipperary (7.4f, soft) 28 days ago. C&D maiden winner as a 2yo, no impact in three runs for current yard, more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (22/1 +45%) Una Matata |
22/1(+45%) | (6) Una Matata 22/1, Improved further when off the mark in a Fairyhouse maiden (7f) in September. Not disgraced when seventh of 12 in handicap at Roscommon (7.5f, soft) 20 days ago but this demands further progress if she's to feature. Hood on 1st time. Fairyhouse maiden winner at 7f, hood and tongue tie on after poor run latest, needs more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Big Gossey finished a close-up third in Listed company at Naas last time and he sets a lofty standard with a rating of 105. However, it may pay to side with WEXFORD NATIVE, who was third in a Grade 3 event at Leopardstown in May last year and he now makes his return to action. The son of Teofilo is a previous course winner and might be able to regain the winning thread. Midream can be in the mix for the minor honours.
6-time course winner BIG GOSSEY is a real credit to connections, running another fine race when third at listed level at Naas 3 weeks ago. The step back up to 7f will hold no fears and he looks to hold sound claims. The returning Wexford Native may well emerge as the chief danger, ahead of Nightcliff.
Preference is for last year's winner BIG GOSSEY. He's been running well in stakes company, he is ground versatile and he loves it here.

1st (3) (25/1 -56%) Just Loose Change |
25/1(-56%) | (3) Just Loose Change 25/1, Dual winner in novice handicap hurdles who ran well on 2 of his 4 starts last season. However, offered little sent chasing after 5 months off at Ludlow last month so bit to prove now. Off five months before going down by 21l on chase debut at Ludlow (2m4f, good) in October. |

2nd (5) (13/8 +51%) Finn Lough |
13/8(+51%) | (5) Finn Lough 13/8, Shaped well on several occasions over hurdles and all the better for chasing debut when second at Warwick last month, collared only close home. Player. 2nd in handicap chase at Warwick latest start and new trip may well boost his potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (4/1 -14%) A Definite Getaway |
4/1(-14%) | (2) A Definite Getaway 4/1, Maiden over hurdles but got off the mark at the first time of asking over fences at Worcester in July. Resumed winning ways at Exeter last month and can make presence felt again. Won the first and latest of his four starts over fences, the latter at Exeter (3m, good). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/2 +0%) Jac Jumper |
11/2(+0%) | (6) Jac Jumper 11/2, In good form over fences this summer, shaping well when fourth at Worcester latest. Stamina to prove up in trip/back from a break. Running creditably; capable of figuring off this mark but new trip asks another question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (5/1 -67%) Hall Lane |
5/1(-67%) | (1) Hall Lane 5/1, Registered his first chase win under a marked change of tactics in 4-runner handicap chase at Market Rasen in July, coming from behind and just holding on (idled). Only 2 lb higher here so likely to go well again. Off the mark as a chaser at seventh attempt, by a head after idling in front (3m, good). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (9/2 -13%) Galloping Pride |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Galloping Pride 9/2, Improved fitted with a visor when runner-up last 3 starts, though didn't look straightforward at Fontwell latest. Still seeking a first win and may prove vulnerable again. Visor added, never better than when 2nd on last three starts, in 2m7f-3m2f handicap chases. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Hall Lane could feature once more having opened his account over fences at Market Rasen in July, but he lacks a recent outing and A DEFINITE GETAWAY makes more appeal. The six-year-old has now won two of his four starts over the larger obstacles after scoring at Exeter last month and can launch another strong challenge raised only 2lb. Galloping Pride has been knocking at the door and should be in the mix once again, while Warwick runner-up Finn Lough is worth noting stepping up distance.
HALL LANE seemed suited by the more patient tactics when off the mark in this sphere at Market Rasen in July and he can defy a 2 lb rise. Finn Lough was all the better for his chase debut when just collared at Warwick so is next best.
This looks competitive despite the small field. The one with the most striking potential, however, is probably FINN LOUGH (nap).

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
REDCLIFF GLEN has been raised 7lb following a narrow recent win over the reopposing Morepowertoya and today runs in a first-time tongue-tie, but is open to further progression. A Flat maiden in the UK, his hurdling form was poor before scoring at Limerick, where he won despite racing wide. Being just a four-year-old, he can improve further and is suited by good ground. Mount Ferns himself won on his Irish debut at Listowel and, while he is 9lb higher and now encounters softer ground, should still compete. Jake Peter is 6lb higher than when winning at Punchestown but is an exposed type, while course-and-distance winner Slieve Bearnagh and Sayitfirst have been running well recently.
MOUNT FERNS was value extra when justifying support at Listowel so a 9 lb rise doesn't look insurmountable. Jake Peter arrives on the back of a convincing win at Punchestown so is next best ahead of the in-form Cash The Cheque.
Beaten 3l by Redcliff Glen on return at Limerick last time, VOICE OF REASON can improve enough from that to turn the tables.

1st (2) (4/6 +17%) Bill Joyce |
4/6(+17%) | (2) Bill Joyce 4/6, £225,000 point recruit who won his first 2 bumpers. Found the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham too much in March but remains a good prospect for hurdles. Stable won this race last years 2-3 in bumpers and went off at only 7-1 when tailed off in the big one at Cheltenham. |

2nd (9) (7/1 +13%) Millie Supreme |
7/1(+13%) | (9) Millie Supreme 7/1, £30,000 purchase after winning 3 of 6 starts in Irish points, including last 2 (latest May 25). The betting should help guide to expectations now hurdling for Donald McCain. Won three of her six points and then bought for £30,000; likely up against it. |

3rd (6) (14/1 -75%) Get The Beat |
14/1(-75%) | (6) Get The Beat 14/1, Made an encouraging start to his career when second in a Wetherby bumper (heavy) form Tom Weston in February. Could only manage fifth of 8 when sent off at 9/4 for his Uttoxeter hurdle and stable debut 16 days ago but he's a likely improver now stepping up in trip. Second in a bumper but ended up well held on hurdling debut, albeit at 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/4 +44%) Shy Love |
9/4(+44%) | (1) Shy Love 9/4, Showed ability only start in bumpers and looked potentially useful when making winning start over hurdles at Huntingdon (20.5f, soft) in March. Not seen to best effect in a steadily-run race at Cheltenham the following month and remains one who could go on to better things. Remains a nice prospect but carries a penalty against others who fall into that category. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (16/1 +52%) Shadow Chaser |
16/1(+52%) | (4) Shadow Chaser 16/1, Point winner who was third in a 19f Cork bumper for John Gleeson in May. Seemed unsuited by the drop to 2m when a remote third on his Hexham hurdle and yard debut a month ago but he may do better now back up in trip. Tailed off on hurdle debut at Hexham; capable of better; has to bounce back in a good race. |

7th (7) (125/1 -25%) Rocket Rufus |
125/1(-25%) | (7) Rocket Rufus 125/1, Third of 4 finishers in a point in April but more one for the longer term under Rules judged on his recent course hurdle debut. Third in a small-field point; 100-1 when tailed off on hurdling debut here (soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (125/1 +38%) Bellmount Lady |
125/1(+38%) | (8) Bellmount Lady 125/1, Well held a pair of bumpers at Kelso and Hexham in early summer and suffered a similar fate on course hurdle debut 17 days ago. Nothing positive to report thus far, in two bumpers and a novice hurdle here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Point-to-point winner BILL JOYCE struck on both of her NH Flat starts before finding the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival too tough. The son of Mahler now makes his first start over the hurdles and could prove very hard to beat. Hazy Glen has made the frame on each of his three starts in this sphere and should go well, while Shy Love is another to note.
Plenty of potential in this novice hurdle, none more so than BILL JOYCE who went off at only 7/1 for the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival when last seen. Confidence in his chance on hurdle debut would increase should the betting vibes be strong. Hazy Glen and Fergal O'Brien Huntingdon winner Shy Love might be the pair to give him most to think about.
The O'Neill yard won this last year with the decidedly smart Johnnywho and BILL JOYCE has similar potential.

66/1(-164%) | (16) Uncle Albert 66/1, Blinkered for 1st time, 19¼ lengths last of 12 to Merisi Diamond in handicap at Roscommon (7.5f, soft, 20/1) 20 days ago. Others rate stronger. Won off 72 at Cork in March, unlucky over C&D in May off 77, 8lb lower now, outrun odds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
26th (9) (150/1 -275%) Lexington Dash |
150/1(-275%) | (9) Lexington Dash 150/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Last of 10 in handicap at Laytown (7f, 16/1) 48 days ago. Visor on 1st time. All four wins on good-good to firm, well-beaten last three starts, hard to fancy; visor on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Merisi Diamond occupied the runner-up berth over 6f at this venue on his most recent start and should remain competitive off only a 3lb higher rating. However, he could come out second best to PORT LOUIS, who encountered traffic problems when getting up for third at Fairyhouse when last seen in May and competes off a 1b higher mark. Noel Meade's three-year-old could be the one to beat if he can back that performance up. Selective Power completes the shortlist.
DARK VIPER's maiden status is a slight cause for concern, yet he's knocked firmly on the door on several occasions this term so, with his rider taking off a handy 7 lb, he's given the nod to deservedly open his account. Merisi Diamond arrives in fine form and is feared along with Eddie G. 3-y-o Mythical Rock is another worth bearing in mind along with Lust who has tumbled down the weights this year.
A chance is taken on last year's winner ZEPHRON. He won off this mark over C&D in April, and he shaped nicely enough last time out.

200/1(-100%) | (5) Kally Des Bruyeres 200/1, No show in a bumper and 2 hurdles. Surely booked for another struggle. No worthwhile form in his bumper or two hurdle races, all on soft. |

2nd (6) (12/1 +40%) Korus |
12/1(+40%) | (6) Korus 12/1, Half-brother to 4 winners. Third on Market Rasen bumper debut in April but went backwards from that at Fontwell 5 weeks later. Switches to hurdles now. Debut was a lot better than his second run in a bumper, but should have potential jumping. |

3rd (2) (33/1 -32%) El Rayo |
33/1(-32%) | (2) El Rayo 33/1, Seventh of 12 in a Doncaster bumper for Paul Webber in January. A watching brief is advised now hurdling for a new yard after 9 months off. Modest form when seventh of 12 at 33-1 in bumper at Doncaster (2m, good) in January. |

4th (3) (8/1 +33%) Good Too |
8/1(+33%) | (3) Good Too 8/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 1½m), successful at Kempton in June, broke blood vessel at Epsom last time. Hurdles debut. Fairly useful on Flat; out of form last two starts, with cheekpieces latest when he bled. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (13) (11/8 +75%) Westerton |
11/8(+75%) | (13) Westerton 11/8, Useful Flat winner. Ran to only a modest level when fifth on last month's Stratford hurdle debut but his Flat ability provides the hope that he could leave that well behind now. Needs better that on hurdling debut at Stratford (5th) but he is useful up to 1m2f on Flat. |

6th (9) (28/1 -12%) Runaway Train |
28/1(-12%) | (9) Runaway Train 28/1, In good hands but has achieved only modest form at best in 2 bumpers and 3 hurdles. Modest form; fell in July on latest start; off four months and others preferred. |

125/1(-56%) | (7) Malinheadsearovers 125/1, Modest maiden handicapper at best on Flat and achieved little when a remote fourth on his Fakenham hurdle debut 16 days ago. Disappointing Flat maiden; always behind when fourth of five finishers on hurdling debut. |

9th (14) (40/1 +0%) Extra Cover |
40/1(+0%) | (14) Extra Cover 40/1, Remote fourth on bumper debut last March and down the field in 2 mares' hurdles the following month. Can only be watched on return. A lot closer at Stratford in April on latest start but still finished only eighth of 12. |

10th (11) (50/1 -52%) Sunset In Paris |
50/1(-52%) | (11) Sunset In Paris 50/1, Has won 5 times on AW Flat in the last year but all at a low level. Best effort over hurdles at the start of the summer when fourth over C&D but the form is barely modest. AW Flat wins up to 1m2f; more to prove judged on Flat turf and his four runs over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (6/5 +82%) The Gray Ghost |
6/5(+82%) | (12) The Gray Ghost 6/5, Irish bumper winner who was a fair fourth on his 19.5f course hurdle debut last month. May do better. Irish bumper win and hurdling debut here both gave something to build on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
NO QUESTIONS ASKED wasn't disgraced when sixth in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree in April. A point-to-point winner in 2022, Ben Pauling's charge could have a future over hurdles and may prove a cut above this opposition. A bumper winner in Ireland, The Gray Ghost made a promising start over timber for his new yard when a solid fourth over a longer trip here last month, while further improvement is expected from both Brother Boris and Salt Rock.
NO QUESTIONS ASKED achieved enough in bumpers in the spring to think he's a potentially useful novice hurdler and is preferred to Westerton, whose Flat ability suggests he could leave last month's Stratford hurdle debut well behind. The returning Salt Rock may prove best of the remainder.
His two bumpers suggest that this is destined for NO QUESTIONS ASKED, ahead of Westerton, Salt Rock and The Gray Ghost.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ARUNTOTHEQUEEN has progressed very well this year and showed a high level of ability in winning a smart Listed bumper last month. At Gowran, she and the runner-up (who subsequently won) pulled a long way clear of some useful rivals and while she debuts over hurdles today, is race-fit and suited by a sound surface. Blue Mosque is herself very able, having won a Naas bumper on debut in April. That form is already strong as the third, fifth and seventh-placed horses have each won over hurdles subsequently and she, too, will be well-schooled for her jumps debut. Meet My Loreley and Grooveykindoflove have both run well in recent hurdles and have place claims.
Useful bumper winner ARUNTOTHEQUEEN looks to have been found a good opening sent hurdling. Meet My Loreley and Grooveykindoflove are both going the right way over hurdles so are feared most.
Listed bumper winner aARUNTOTHEQUEEN starts off over hurdles in a winnable contest and can score if her jumping is up to scratch.

1st (3) (15/8 +78%) Marble Sands |
15/8(+78%) | (3) Marble Sands 15/8, Useful hurdler who scored twice over fences lastt season at Ayr and Musselburgh. Has run to a fair level on the Flat this autumn so not discounted back in this sphere. Smart chaser; with a likely edge in fitness over his rivals he shouldn't be that far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/8 +84%) Colonel Harry |
11/8(+84%) | (1) Colonel Harry 11/8, Likeable type who took 2m4f Towton Novices' Chase at Wetherby last term. Signed off with a good fourth of 5 to Il Etait Temps in Manifesto Novices' Chase at Aintree (19.9f) so must enter calculations on his seasonal return. Sights are lowered considerably here and could have the class to defy his penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/2 +50%) Traprain Law |
9/2(+50%) | (5) Traprain Law 9/2, Enjoyed a promising campaign sent chasing last season, doubling his tally at Ayr before shaping well when runnner-up in 2m handicap there final start. Goes up in trip now. Big shout. Useful at 2m; this is likely to develop into a true test of his stamina now sent further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (15/2 +46%) Top Of The Bill |
15/2(+46%) | (4) Top Of The Bill 15/2, Much improved since sent over fences and he signed off with a stylish front-running victory in 6-runner handicap chase at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy) in March. This demands more but he's still not taken lightly. Last season's surge of progress came at 3m so expect another positive ride up front. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
A progressive sort last season, which ended with a respectable second to Tommy's Oscar at Ayr, TRAPRAIN LAW seems just the type who could excel further for the Lucinda Russell team. Stepping up to this trip looks like a sound move on his return and, getting 6lb, he is narrowly preferred to classy Towton winner Colonel Harry, who has plied his trade at the highest level on his last three starts. Fresh from a couple of efforts on the level, Marble Sands cannot be ruled out easily.
GREY DAWNING would hold outstanding claims if taking his place in the Colin Parker having been withdrawn from Wetherby's Charlie Hall Chase on Saturday. Lucinda Russell's upwardly-mobile sort Traprain Law appeals as the one to take advantage should Dan Sketton's Turner Chase victor fail to run, with Top of The Bill another progressive chaser who can also have a say.
Now that COLONEL HARRY has no Grey Dawning to worry about he might well defy his penalty. Marble Sands is the danger.

11th (3) (11/1 -83%) Mickey The Steel |
11/1(-83%) | (3) Mickey The Steel 11/1, Won this race last year and arrives in form again having won at Navan (5f, good to soft) 11 days ago, having to pick way through. Raised 6 lb but he's still 3 lb below last year's winning mark. A bold show looks assured. Got a good run on the inside when scoring at Navan, may remain competitive off 6lb higher. |

12th (5) (11/1 0%) Harry's Hill |
11/1(0%) | (5) Harry's Hill 11/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Bellewstown in August. 7/1, 5¼ lengths seventh of 10 to Apache Outlaw in handicap at this C&D (good to soft) 29 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Out of the money behind Apache Outlaw here on latest, solid overall record at this track. |

13th (12) (100/1 -300%) Platino Bianco |
100/1(-300%) | (12) Platino Bianco 100/1, Ninth of 13 in maiden (11/1) at Navan (5f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Eyecover on 1st time. Easy to look elsewhere. Placed twice in maidens last month, ordinary handicap form, 3lb out of the handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Jon Riggens showed a likeable attitude when scoring narrowly over 6f here last month and he must be of interest once more off 5lb higher, even though the step back to 5f may not be ideal for him these days. With that in mind, MICKEY THE STEEL gets the tentative vote. He rediscovered his form when running out a cosy winner over 5f at Navan latest, and this C&D scorer could shrug off a 6lb rise to complete a quick-fire double. Apache Outlaw won over this track and trip on his penultimate start and is also noteworthy.
MICKEY THE STEEL was value for extra at Navan last time and is taken to land this race for the second year running. Apache Outlaw backed up last month's C&D success with a good third at Naas and is second choice ahead of Jon Riggens, another with a recent course win to his name.
Fourth in this race last season, TWO STARS may exploit this late opportunity to build on two early-season seconds

5/4(+64%) | (1) Forget The Way 5/4, Has just the one win to his name but with cheekpieces fitted, he ran up to his best when second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (15.8f, good, 13/2) 11 days ago. Close second in recent Southwell handicap; ought to play a major role in this claimer. |

2nd (5) (3/1 +40%) Pak Army |
3/1(+40%) | (5) Pak Army 3/1, Flat/hurdles winner who was in process of running well when taking a heavy fall late on at Exeter 24 days ago (looked set to be placed). Holds claims on these terms down in class if none the worse for those exertions. Consistent over hurdles since Flat win in May; likely contender in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (11/4 +21%) Allbetsoff |
11/4(+21%) | (3) Allbetsoff 11/4, Notched 3 wins in the first half of last season (including this race) and has enhanced his strike rate further this summer, adding a couple more to his tally. Recent efforts disappointing but a return to more positive tactics can likely see him in a better light. Won this race in 2023 and has added two handicaps this season; in poor form lately, though. |

4th (4) (10/1 -11%) King Otis |
10/1(-11%) | (4) King Otis 10/1, Successful twice at Fakenham at the beginning of the season but recent efforts not so inspiring, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Plumpton (15.9f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Yard look to hold much more pressing claims with Forget The Way. Began season with string of good efforts but has suffered worrying slump in form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (22/1 -1157%) Ankud |
22/1(-1157%) | (2) Ankud 22/1, Made a winning handicap debut at Sligo (17.3f) for Gordon Elliott in July. Rise in weights appeared to catch him out at Ballinrobe later that month but proved a major disappointment when well beaten sixth of 7 in novice hurdle at Hexham (16.2f) for new yard last month. Handicap winner in Ireland in July but well beaten in run-of-the-mill novice for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Allbetsoff made every yard to win this contest last year, but his recent efforts fail to inspire confidence and ANKUD is preferred. A winner over hurdles for Gordon Elliott, the latter failed to fire in a handicap at Hexham on debut for new connections, but the five-year-old is clear of these on ratings and looks worth another chance. Forget The Way ran well for second at Southwell recently but has plenty to find on these terms.
A tricky claimer to dissect and with that in mind it could be worth chancing last year's winner ALLBETSOFF. He needs to shrug off a pair of distinctly lesser efforts but a return to more positive tactics can likely see Mark Walford's 8-y-o in a much better light back down in class. Pak Army rates next best ahead of Forget The Way. The market can guide with Ankud.
The two with least to prove are Forget The Way and PAK ARMY, and the latter would be 8lb worse off with the former in a handicap.

Respectable on last hurdle outing. Yet to score over hurdles but some decent efforts; this is a big step up in trip and class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (80/1 -264%) Born Bright |
80/1(-264%) | (5) Born Bright 80/1, Fair hurdler. Career best when winning 10-runner novice hurdle (16/1) at Fairyhouse (20.5f, good) on hurdles bow 22 days ago, kept up to work. Plenty to find on form. Won a Fairyhouse mares' maiden hurdle last month; this is a major step up in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (18/1 -112%) Jumping Susie |
18/1(-112%) | (3) Jumping Susie 18/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 3 wins from 6 runs this season. 6/5, didn't need to improve to win 6-runner novice hurdle at Kelso (20.9f, good to soft) 28 days ago, driven clear. Respected. Three wins this year; steps up in trip and grade today, and has a bit to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/11 +39%) The Enabler |
10/11(+39%) | (2) The Enabler 10/11, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Second of 9 in novice hurdle (1/9) at Galway (16.6f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 26 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Likely to improve. Not at his best on hurdling debut but these conditions will suit better and can go close. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
THE ENABLER was beaten as the 1/9 favourite in a recent maiden hurdle but is better than that showing and while he would prefer soft ground, remains promising. An ex-point-to-pointer and a Listed bumper winner, he threw away his Galway race behind the pacier winner as he hung and jumped left, but should be more effective over this longer distance. Paggane can be depended upon to run her usual solid race on suitable ground. There was no disgrace in failing to concede 4lb to a subsequent Listed winner at Listowel in September but might find an on-song selection too strong. Jumping Susie likes good ground and while she won easily at Kelso, she faces a tougher task now.
THE ENABLER offered plenty in bumpers and there was encouragement in his hurdling debut at Galway for all that he was turned over at very short odds. He's open to a good deal of improvement and can open his account at the second attempt in this sphere for all that he's up in grade. Paggane sets the standard and looks a formidable opponent, while Jumping Susie can't be ruled out.
Listed bumper winner THE ENABLER is forgiven a below-par hurdling debut at Galway on return and can score.

1st (5) (15/2 +0%) Castle Rushen |
15/2(+0%) | (5) Castle Rushen 15/2, Respectable efforts when last seen in the spring but he's yet to win a handicap after 9 attempts and returns to action in what looks quite a competitive race. Below best last season and he probably needs softer conditions at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (10/3 +81%) Dunnet Head |
10/3(+81%) | (9) Dunnet Head 10/3, Made a winning reappearance and handicap debut in the concluding 17f handicap on this card last year. Disappointed in 2 subsequent outings but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him bounce back to form with a bang after 10 months off. Won here last November and on a very workable mark if back to best after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 -45%) Punta Del Este |
4/1(-45%) | (1) Punta Del Este 4/1, Pair of handicap hurdle wins last winter, latterly over 21f at Ayr (soft) in April. Returns from 6 months off with his top stable going really well. A must for the shortlist. Inconsistent but very capable on his day; could do without conditions quickening up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (9/1 -50%) Fourofakind |
9/1(-50%) | (8) Fourofakind 9/1, Has landed a pair of 2½m Perth handicaps since joining Lizzie Quinlan, latterly by 3 lengths in September. Should remain very competitive after a 4 lb rise. In form and might be happier under these conditions than some of today's rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (9/1 +59%) Young Jack |
9/1(+59%) | (7) Young Jack 9/1, Successful on second attempt in maiden points and also made his second start over hurdles a winning one at Newcastle (2½m, heavy) in February. Disappointing in a handicap at the Ayr Scottish Grand National meeting but this 6-y-o retains potential. Quiet handicap debut but did win a novice and remains relatively unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (5/1 +0%) What A Johnny |
5/1(+0%) | (6) What A Johnny 5/1, Two-time hurdle winner last season who progressed again when second of 10 in a Perth handicap over this trip in May. Has subsequently had wind surgery. Likely capable of better again for in-form Olly Murphy. First and second in successive 2m4f Perth handicaps in the spring; had wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (10/1 -82%) My Bobby Dazzler |
10/1(-82%) | (4) My Bobby Dazzler 10/1, Fairly useful hurdler and chaser who was last seen finishing a good second of 16 over 3m at Haydock in May. A 3 lb nudge for that near miss looks fair if he's ready to roll after 6 months off. Useful handicapper but 3m seems ideal these days, so looks vulnerable at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (12/1 -33%) Fingal's Hill |
12/1(-33%) | (3) Fingal's Hill 12/1, Real credit to connections, finding further progress when returning from 6 months off to win this race last year. Respectable fourth when last seen in March and he's only 1 lb higher than 12 months ago. Wears first-time cheekpieces. Won this last year off 1lb lower and that was after a break; good mark; new cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (12/1 +40%) Bingoo |
12/1(+40%) | (2) Bingoo 12/1, Four-time 2m Hexham winner who showed he can do it at other venues when returning from 8 months off to win 2½m Aintree handicap (heavy) last Christmas. Failed to reproduce that in 3 outings in the spring but evidently capable when fresh so could bounce back after a break. Back from a break and the form is in the book if he can resume in good spirits. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Fingal's Hill won this last year off just 1lb lower and although he hasn't won in four starts since, connections try first-time cheekpieces in a bid to get him back to his best. Fourofakind steps up in class off his new mark after a pair of wins at Perth and he may have more to come at the age of five, but top-weight PUNTA DEL ESTE is preferred. The winner of a similar race off 5lb lower at Ayr in April, he might make a winning return for the Skelton yard, whose horses are in great form.
There should be more to come from WHAT A JOHNNY this season so he gets the vote for Olly Murphy. Fourofakind has been at the top of his game since joining Lizzie Quinlan and is second choice ahead of Punta Del Este.
A chance is taken on DUNNET HEAD who won first time back here last season and is a 6yo with more to offer.

14/1(+0%) | (17) Rhythm King 14/1, Much improved when winning 16-runner handicap (8/1) at Galway (7f, heavy) 6 days ago, keeping on well. Did well to win at Galway last Monday on first run since May, 10lb rise makes this tough. |

2nd (4) (11/2 -38%) Gleneagle Bay |
11/2(-38%) | (4) Gleneagle Bay 11/2, Lightly-raced winner. 14/1, first run since leaving Joseph O'Brien when good second of 17 in handicap at Leopardstown (7f, good) 50 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Jack Davison. Leading claims. Beaten a head in a 7f premier handicap at Leopardstown, big chance if handling the ground. |

9/1(+10%) | (7) Orandi 9/1, Course winner. Good ¾-length second of 8 to Titanium in handicap (4/1) at Leopardstown (8f, heavy) 14 days ago, clear of rest. One to consider. Highly consistent this season, should be in the mix again following Leopardstown second. |

14/1(-40%) | (1) Titanium 14/1, 9/2, improved on recent efforts to win 8-runner handicap at Leopardstown (8f, heavy) 14 days ago by ¾ length from Orandi, keeping on well. French import won at Leopardstown last time, may not uphold form with runner-up Orandi. |

50/1(-25%) | (14) Casanova 50/1, Latest win at Listowel in September. Fifth of 6 in handicap (25/1) at Dundalk (10.7f) 16 days ago. Back down in trip. Won on good ground at Listowel in September, soundly beaten in three subsequent outings. |

Makes handicap debut. Something to find on form. Course 7f winner on debut, highly tried next two starts, handicap debut now after a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
GLENEAGLE BAY looked the winner for a long way when collared in the shadow of the post over 7f at Leopardstown on his handicap debut last time out and, upped 3lb on his debut for a new stable, he can atone for that near-miss here. English raider Empirestateofmind was on target over a mile at York last month and he looks the main danger off 5lb higher. No More Porter and Akecheta are a couple of others to consider.
GLENEAGLE BAY made a very encouraging start to his handicap career when second in a big field at Leopardstown in September and can build on that and strike for rookie trainer Stephen Thorne. Akecheta, the mount of Billy Lee, heads the many dangers along with Orandi and British raider Empirestateofmind.
If handling soft ground GLENEAGLE BAY could be hard to beat since he is one of the least exposed runners here

1st (3) (18/1 -125%) Ebselysees |
18/1(-125%) | (3) Ebselysees 18/1, Well-related mare who showed plenty when fourth in a bumper here in March. Raced closer to the pace than ideal when eighth of 11 in bumper at Hexham (16.2f) in May and she's one to note now her attentions switch to hurdling. Well-related 5yo; promising 4th in course bumper in March; tailed off latest; hurdle debut. |

6/5(-80%) | (1) Lady Jago 6/5, Irish point winner. Promise in 3 bumpers and bright start over hurdles this autumn, landing mares' maiden at Warwick (21f) prior to a respectable second under a penalty at Market Rasen (20.6f) 19 days ago. Irish point winner; likeable winning debut over 2m5f; tough task since; obvious claims. |

20/1(-25%) | (2) Aunty Christine 20/1, €37,000 Westerner filly. Down the field in pair of bumpers 7 months apart last year. Bred to stay reasonably well so this increase in trip ought so uit now hurdling back from 11 months off but probably best watched all the same. Some promise on bumper debut; bred to stay well now hurdling; has been off for 12 months. |

4th (4) (13/8 +51%) Future Fortune |
13/8(+51%) | (4) Future Fortune 13/8, Made a winning debut in bumper at Hereford (16.2f) this time last year and matched that level when third at Sedgefield (16.8f) in January. Never figured in Aintree Grade 2 on final outing but she appeals as the type to make her mark now hurdling. Won bumper debut last October; no progress after but good jumping blood in pedigree. |

|PU| (6) (11/2 +21%) Moon Eagle |
11/2(+21%) | (6) Moon Eagle 11/2, Modest chase winner (over 23.6f here) who ran below form when last seen, fourth of 6 in handicap chase back at this course (23.6f, good) in May and she looks vulnerable returned to this sphere after 160 days off. 0-6 over hurdles but chase winner over 2m7f in March; competitive back hurdling. |

|PU| (5) (200/1 -203%) Lucille Diamond |
200/1(-203%) | (5) Lucille Diamond 200/1, Well held both starts in bumpers and having offered little on hurdles bow at Stratford (18.7f) in June, she got no further than the second at Market Rasen (20.6f) a month later. Cheekpieces go on now. Very modest form in two bumpers and a novice hurdle before unseating early in July. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LADY JAGO has to give weight away to all of her rivals, but is the clear form pick after a maiden hurdle win at Warwick and a second at Market Rasen last month. Future Fortune won her bumper at Hereford on debut and although beaten on three other starts, she is bred to be better over obstacles and upped in trip, while Ebselysees has shown some promise and could be booked for third.
LADY JAGO's hurdles experience ought to count for plenty and Dan Skelton's mare could well be the way to go with her rider taking off 7 lb. Hurdles debutantes Future Fortune and Ebselysees may well emerge as the chief threats.
Bumper winner Future Fortune is an interesting recruit but LADY JAGO has made a good start to her hurdle career and is preferred.

3rd (3) (3/1 +33%) Jesse Evans |
3/1(+33%) | (3) Jesse Evans 3/1, Smart hurdler who upped his game over fences to score at Galway in September. |PU| (10) (50/1 +0%) Hazelhatch Lady |
50/1(+0%) | (10) Hazelhatch Lady 50/1, Fair chaser. 1 win from 2 runs this season. Career best when winning 7-runner handicap chase (8/1) at Galway (18.2f, good to soft) 26 days ago, all out. Difficult ask. Won ordinary 2m2f Galway handicap last time (made all) but very stiff task in this company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
JESSE EVANS was well beaten in the Cesarewitch recently but had previously beaten today's rival Shecouldbeanything at Galway in September and remains a promising novice chaser. Runner-up in two Galway hurdles, the selection's Killarney chase debut was underwhelming but he showed stronger form in winning his beginners' chase at Galway and is perfectly suited by today's forecast good ground. Shecouldbeanything has franked that September form by completing a subsequent hat-trick, including a Grade 3 success (when beating Gaelic Arc), but she is 6lb worse off with the selection today. Arctic Fly defeated the selection in winning the aforementioned Killarney race but was reported to have 'made a noise, never travelled and pulled up' at Roscommon subsequently and is thus on a retrieval mission.
JESSE EVANS' latest win in this sphere is proving strong form and he remains well treated on his smart hurdling form, so he's preferred to Shecouldbeanything, who also has the scope for more over fences. Gorgeous Tom can get involved if none the worse for his latest fall at Tipperary.
Plenty of depth but maybe JESSE EVANS (nap) can confirm Galway form with progressive mare Shecouldbeanything and take this Grade 3

5/1(+9%) | (7) Terresita 5/1, Improved switched to fences last season, likely to have recorded a third success had she not fallen 2 out at Sandown final start. Not taken lightly on return. Not ideally suited by the framing of today's race but she's probably improving. |

2nd (1) (6/4 -9%) Galia Des Liteaux |
6/4(-9%) | (1) Galia Des Liteaux 6/4, Low-mileage mare whose 3 chase victories have come in small fields but showed another dimension to her game when second in Classic Chase at Warwick (29.2f, soft) in January. Very respectable eighth in Grand National final start and the pick on form under a penalty in this company on return. 15/8(+50%) | (2) El Elefante 15/8, Fairly useful hurdler, scoring twice over this sort of trip last term, and made a winning start to her chasing career in novice at Worcester on return. Needs considering with more to come. Did well in novice hurdles last season and recent chasing debut was impressive. |

4th (3) (14/1 -27%) La Domaniale |
14/1(-27%) | (3) La Domaniale 14/1, Four-time winner over fences who produced somewhere near her best form when second of 5 in handicap chase (9/1) at Stratford (19.4f, good). Went off too hard next time so best not judged on that. Not out of this. Conditions will be up her street and this is her trip, so there can be no excuses. |

5th (4) (14/1 +36%) Lunar Discovery |
14/1(+36%) | (4) Lunar Discovery 14/1, Dual bumper winner who also won first 2 starts over hurdles (both 2m Hexham) last season. Good second next 2 starts but went amiss (bled) final start. No easy task on chase bow/return. Likeable mare with C&D form but needs to be right on the ball to prevail on these terms. |

6th (5) (16/1 +43%) Pinot Rouge |
16/1(+43%) | (5) Pinot Rouge 16/1, Successful on sole outing in Irish points and landed a 3m listed hurdle at Doncaster before posting a fine fourth in Grade 1 Sefton Hurdle at Aintree later in spring. Made an underwhelming start over fences at Hexham on return and headgear quickly re-fitted. Reached a good level during light hurdling career; chase debut underwhelming. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
El Elefante certainly caught the eye on her chasing debut when sauntering home to win eased down at Worcester last month and, if she takes a step forward for that first start since April, then she looks a serious danger to all. Smiling Getaway also won on her only start over the larger obstacles and she is another to consider, but GALIA DES LITEAUX may make the most of a drop in class. Eighth in the Grand National last time out, she has had wind surgery since and could take this to start off a rewarding season that may end up back at Aintree.
GALIA DES LITEAUX made a winning return in a similar event at Market Rasen last season before going on to have a solid campaign, and she looks the one to beat again on her comeback this time around. El Elefante and Smiling Getaway both made a bright start to their chasing careers when winning on return and are obvious threats.
Galia Des Liteaux could be good enough even over a trip short of her best but EL ELEFANTE (nap) was impressive on her chase debut.

1st (1) (6/4 +55%) Dawn Rising |
6/4(+55%) | (1) Dawn Rising 6/4, Smart gelding. Creditable fifth of 24 in handicap (8/1) at Newmarket (18f, soft) 22 days ago. Stable going well. Likely to continue in form. Solid efforts in handicaps the last twice including here at 2m1f, looks the main danger. |

2nd (5) (13/2 +13%) Lily Hart |
13/2(+13%) | (5) Lily Hart 13/2, Useful filly. Winner at Longchamp in September. 8¼ lengths fifth of 7 to Entrancement in Prix Belle de Nuit at Saint-Cloud (13.9f, soft, 31/10) 7 days ago. Stable in good form. Considered. 1m6f Listed win at Longchamp in September, not as good last twice, new trip, place chance. |

3rd (3) (40/1 -100%) The Shunter |
40/1(-100%) | (3) The Shunter 40/1, Useful gelding. 20/1, below form fourteenth of 24 in handicap at Newmarket (18f, soft) 22 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Veteran, won the Cesarewitch last year, poor in repeat bid latest, others more likely. |

4th (4) (20/1 +39%) Get |
20/1(+39%) | (4) Get 20/1, Fairly useful filly. 14/1, 15 lengths twelfth of 16 to Caught U Looking in listed race at Naas (12f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Significantly up in trip. This is a tough ask. Won a maiden at Killarney last month, no impact in a Listed latest, needs more up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (1/1 -10%) Harbour Wind |
1/1(-10%) | (2) Harbour Wind 1/1, Smart gelding. Latest win at Limerick in June. Respectable 8 lengths second of 5 to Al Nayyir in listed race (5/2) at Newmarket (16f, heavy) 38 days ago. The one to beat. Top rated, consistent in stakes company, handles soft ground, the one to beat. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Lily Hart appears to be the best of Aidan O'Brien's pair based on her Listed success at Longchamp and is a danger to all at these weights if staying the trip, but HARBOUR WIND could be the one after his Newmarket second to Al Nayyir. The winner was different class that day, but the selection came home clear of the rest and a repeat might be all he needs. Dawn Rising is a tentative suggestion for third spot.
HARBOUR WIND holds a clear edge on form so is fancied to resume winning ways at the chief expense of Cesarewith fifth Dawn Rising. Lily Hart appeals as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
Proven stakes performer HARBOUR WIND has run well the last twice and this looks a good chance for him to gain his first Group 3 win.

1st (3) (7/2 +30%) No Risk With Lou |
7/2(+30%) | (3) No Risk With Lou 7/2, Winning pointer who impressively made a successful chase debut over C&D on return a year ago. Not disgraced when third at Plumpton next time and was found to have bled when mid-field at Doncaster when last seen in December. Hood applied and not one to give up on. Absent since December but made all over C&D when fresh last October; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (4/1 -14%) Jet Of Dreams |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Jet Of Dreams 4/1, Got off the mark in 9-runner handicap chase (4/1) at Hereford (16f, good) and improved again back from a break when following up at Sedgefield. Good third there since and remains of interest. Dual chase winner this season; up in grade after recent Sedgefield third; still considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (16/5 -7%) Getaway Drumlee |
16/5(-7%) | (2) Getaway Drumlee 16/5, Irish point scorer who made a winning hurdles debut in Hereford novice (19.6f) in 2022. Back on track after an absence when second in a handicap at Doncaster and readily went one better in 5-runner contest at Fontwell. Found life tougher at Cheltenham final start but should make a chaser this term. Irish point winner; 2-6 over hurdles; could have a good future over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/2 +29%) Roaring Legend |
5/2(+29%) | (5) Roaring Legend 5/2, Flat/hurdles winner who wasn't disgraced last time. Not an obvious chasing type but respected all the same. Useful Flat racer and dual hurdle winner; benefits from age allowance on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (10/1 -186%) Feel The Pinch |
10/1(-186%) | (1) Feel The Pinch 10/1, Prolific for this stable, producing an effort right up there with his best when adding to his tally at Newton Abbot (16.7f) in July. Excuses next 2 starts and on a decent mark back over fences. Back chasing on workable mark but needs to up his game after two below-par hurdle runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 +0%) Give Me A Moment |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Give Me A Moment 12/1, Useful chaser at best but struggled for consistency last term. Had a wind op before resurgent second of 7 in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (16f, good) but disappointed at Perth since. Headgear now given a whirl. Not the force of old but went close this summer, after a wind op; cheekpieces added today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Jet Of Dreams returned to action with a win over fences at Sedgefield in September and followed that up with a close-up third at the same track. However, ROARING LEGEND would be the best of these over hurdles and if he takes to chasing, he would be the one to beat. Getaway Drumlee is certainly bred for the task, and may also get into the mix.
FEEL THE PINCH is potentially on a good mark back over fences so is taken to enhance his prolific record. The in-form Jet of Dreams is the obvious threat.
Alex Hales' NO RISK WITH LOU dominated from the front over C&D last autumn, after a break, and is selected to do the same today.

1st (7) (8/1 +33%) Sphagnum |
8/1(+33%) | (7) Sphagnum 8/1, Latest win in chase at Wexford in July. 4/1, eighth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Roscommon (24.1f, soft) 34 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Others make more appeal. Likes nice ground and won over 3m1f at Wexford in July; good second over same trip since. |

2nd (5) (11/2 +31%) Positive Thinker |
11/2(+31%) | (5) Positive Thinker 11/2, Creditable third of 12 in handicap hurdle (11/2) at Roscommon (24.1f, soft) 34 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Enters calculations. Two wins and three seconds from just six chase starts and marathon trip could well suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (7/2 +46%) Outside The Door |
7/2(+46%) | (10) Outside The Door 7/2, 2 wins from 5 runs this season. 6/4, won 10-runner handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (24f, good) 27 days ago, kept up to work. Switches from hurdles to chase. On the up and deserves respect in the hat-trick bid back over fences. Has gone close over this trip and won over 3m1f at Wexford on latest chase start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (40/1 +39%) Big Debates |
40/1(+39%) | (6) Big Debates 40/1, Course winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. 22/1, eleventh of 13 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (19.4f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Significantly up in trip. Three-time chase winner over much shorter trips; fit from hurdling but trip is a concern. |

5th (13) (14/1 +58%) King Ferdinand |
14/1(+58%) | (13) King Ferdinand 14/1, Latest win in chase at Killarney in August. Bit below form 30½ lengths sixth of 12 to Hand Over Fist in handicap chase at this course (24f, good, 22/1) 21 days ago. Local contender never really at the races behind Hand Over Fist over 3m here last month. |

6th (3) (13/2 +46%) Jumping Jet |
13/2(+46%) | (3) Jumping Jet 13/2, Latest win in chase at Downpatrick in April. Creditable sixth of 11 in handicap chase (12/1) at Galway (22.5f, heavy) 7 days ago. Back up in trip. Won over this trip at Downpatrick in April and, after 168 days off, shaped well at Galway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (9/4 +50%) Hand Over Fist |
9/4(+50%) | (14) Hand Over Fist 9/4, Promising individual. 4/1, career best when winning 12-runner handicap chase at this course (24f, good) 21 days ago. Trainer going well. Should continue to give a good account. Showed good reserves of stamina, having looked likely to drop away, to win over 3m here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (14/1 +0%) Macgiloney |
14/1(+0%) | (9) Macgiloney 14/1, 12/1, respectable fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (24f, good) 29 days ago, going in snatches. Switches from hurdles to chase. Not dismissed. Still performing to a good level and will enjoy the good ground; should stay this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (18/1 +18%) Streets Of Doyen |
18/1(+18%) | (8) Streets Of Doyen 18/1, Unseated rider in minor event chase at Pardubice (34.3f, good, 59/1) 21 days ago. Below form on previous outing and often let down by jumping in this sphere. Well held since Roscommon fourth and didn't get far in the Velka Pardubicka last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (20/1 -122%) So Des Flos |
20/1(-122%) | (2) So Des Flos 20/1, Latest win in chase at Fairyhouse in March. 11/2, good second of 5 in novice chase at Tipperary (20f, good to soft), going in snatches. Off 6 months. Significantly back up in trip. Definite claims if he's tuned up. Fourth over this trip at Leopardstown although held by Outside The Door on that form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Those towards the bottom of the handicap have done well in this stamina test in recent years and perhaps HAND OVER FIST can maintain that trend. The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding stayed well over hurdles and has added two chase wins to his tally this year, including when again strong at the finish here last month. Outside The Door is on a hat-trick after following up a 3m1f Wexford chase win by successfully reverting to hurdles at Fairyhouse last month, while others to consider include Sainte Dona, Caesar Rock and Ulster National winner Jumping Jet.
HAND OVER FIST looks better than ever and resumed winning ways in dominant style here last time, so he's a straightforward choice to add another success to his tally. The hat-trick seeking Outside The Door is a danger and Stuzzikini should be thereabouts if the race doesn't come too soon.
He stays well and will like the good ground so OUTSIDE THE DOOR is the selection; Jumping Jet has won over this far and is noted

1st (7) (6/1 +20%) Val Dancer |
6/1(+20%) | (7) Val Dancer 6/1, Much improved for fitting of cheekpieces, bringing up a chase hat-trick at Catterick (25.2f, soft) in February. Made frame despite some less than fluent jumping on final 2 starts and he could have more to offer this term given his low-mileage profile in this sphere. Progressed last season and can deal with this mark; appears to stay all day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3/1 +25%) Snipe |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Snipe 3/1, Took well to fences last term, winning handicaps around 3m at Southwell and Aintree (heavy). Solid reappearance run when second behind re-opposing Wasdell Dundalk here (24.5f) 17 days ago, an untidy leap at the last not helping. Needs considering. Closely matched with Wasdell Dundalk on recent 3m clash here; he was keeping on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 +27%) Iron Bridge |
11/2(+27%) | (1) Iron Bridge 11/2, Unbeaten in bumper/over hurdles and quickly developed into a useful handicap chaser, winning twice (including here) as a novice. Exploits mixed in top-end staying handicaps last term and drying ground possibly not ideal when eighth in Scottish National final start. Respected on return. Should welcome this drop in class but lacking a run might not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (8/1 -14%) Universal Folly |
8/1(-14%) | (5) Universal Folly 8/1, Multiple winner for Nicky Richards who has steadily got his act together for present yard, his stamina shining through in a well-run race when taking 10-runner handicap chase at Kelso (26.2f) 4 weeks ago, by 5½ lengths from Brandy Mcqueen. Revised mark shouldn't prevent another good showing. Recent Kelso winner and has shown he can cope with this 6lb higher mark in the past. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (40/1 -21%) Flower Of Scotland |
40/1(-21%) | (9) Flower Of Scotland 40/1, Borders National winner at Kelso before good third in Edinburgh National during 2022/23 campaign. Never figured in handful of outings over fences/hurdles last term but her mark has eased a good deal ahead of return/following wind surgery. Pulled up in this on last season's return and that was a sign of things to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (9/1 +25%) Jet Legs |
9/1(+25%) | (8) Jet Legs 9/1, Added to a positive chasing profile when doubling his tally over fences here (24.5f) in February. Good placed efforts final 2 outings, rallying gradually when third of 11 over 20f back here in April. This test rates more suitable on return from 7 months off. Course winner over 3m on heavy; could have a part to play if ready for business. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (14/1 -155%) Wasdell Dundalk |
14/1(-155%) | (4) Wasdell Dundalk 14/1, Done well since joining this yard, bagging a fifth success since last summer when landing 5-runner handicap chase (5/1) at this course (24.5f, good to soft) 17 days ago by 1½ lengths from Snipe. Effective at this trip but revised mark demands that little bit more. Recent 3m winner here and he was runner-up to Houston Texas in this last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (3/1 +63%) Brandy Mcqueen |
3/1(+63%) | (10) Brandy Mcqueen 3/1, Made a winning chase debut at Kelso 13 months ago and having essentially struggled since, he stopped the slide after 3 months off when runner-up behind Universal Folly back at that venue 4 weeks ago. This asks a bit more however from 2 lb out of the weights. 2lb out of the weights but well handicapped anyway and returned to form latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (14/1 -250%) Your Own Story |
14/1(-250%) | (2) Your Own Story 14/1, Consistent 8-y-o who ran well to finish runner-up all 3 starts following an absence during the spring, latterly in 21-runner handicap at Perth (31.3f, soft) in May. No surprise to see another good showing back from 6 months off. Strong stayer; has earned himself this career-high mark and if revved up he'll go well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
SNIPE looked a progressive chaser last term, and he was far from disgraced when finishing second behind Wasdell Dundalk on his seasonal reappearance over an extended 3m here last month. That should have teed him up perfectly for this and, 3lb better off with the winner this time with the step back up in trip promising to suit, he can reverse that form for the in-form Dan Skelton team. Your Own Story posted an excellent runner-up effort over an extended 3m7f at Punchestown when last seen and, having gone well fresh before, he is considered off 5lb higher.
SNIPE ran well returning from 8 months off and would likely have pushed re-opposing Wasdell Dundalk closer still but for an untidy leap at the last over shorter here last time. Appealing as the type to rate higher still in staying handicaps this season, he earns the vote to build on that effort back up in trip. Iron Bridge steps down in class on return and is feared, while Houston Texas, who has landed each of the last 2 renewals, and aforementioned Wasdell Dundalk complete the shortlist.
Iron Bridge is respected eased in class but SNIPE is progressive and can reverse recent course form with Wasdell Dundalk.

HAMISH put in an excellent effort last time out at Longchamp when a half-length second to the classy Goliath in the Group 2 Prix du Conseil over a furlong shorter. Dropped in grade here, he is hard to oppose with conditions in his favour. Rubies Are Red got off the mark over C&D last month and she could be a big danger in receipt of 15lb from the selection, with Layfayette and Lips Freedom others to consider.
HAMISH signalled he is ready to go in again when a good recent second in a Longchamp Group 2 so looks the way to go lowered in grade here. Course-specialist Layfayette appeals as the one to chase home William Haggas' smart veteran, with Falcon Eight, Chally Chute and Kortez Bay all worthy of respect too in the battle for minor honours.
HAMISH can return to winning ways down in class. He has run well here before, soft ground suits and the form of his last run is solid.

28/1(-12%) | (4) Braganza Bay 28/1, Dual hurdles winner at Hereford in 2022/23 and successful start switched to fences at same course (25.2f) last October. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (3/1 +40%) Getaway With You |
3/1(+40%) | (10) Getaway With You 3/1, Still to win but he has taken his form up a notch for his current yard, a strong-travelling second of 13 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (23.9f, soft) 21 days ago. Weighted to go very well despite taking a 4 lb rise. Good second of 13 when upped to 3m last month; could have more to offer over staying trips. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (22/1 -22%) No Way Pedro |

11/1(-175%) | (3) Aldsworth 11/1, Still to win but improved form for his new yard last term, runner-up at Hereford (25.5f). Pulled up in handicap at Wincanton after but no surprise to see him bounce back in first-time blinkers on his return. Off since struggling on heavy ground last December; big player if judged on earlier form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (13/2 +41%) Miss Applejack |
13/2(+41%) | (14) Miss Applejack 13/2, A fair bumper winner but she's yet to score in this sphere and arrives below par. Others appeal more. Ran well at Hereford last month but needs this hike up in trip to unlock improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (25/1 +0%) Escobedo |
25/1(+0%) | (11) Escobedo 25/1, On a losing run and came in only twelfth of 18 for his new yard in handicap hurdle at Exeter (16.7ff) 24 days ago. Back up in trip now but others are more persuasive. Well beaten over 2m on recent stable debut and has a lot to prove over this new trip. |

|PU| (15) (80/1 +20%) Crookbarrow |
80/1(+20%) | (15) Crookbarrow 80/1, Yet to make the frame and he came in a well-beaten eighth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (25.8f, good) 40 days ago. Cheekpieces go back on but not easy to make a case for. Tailed-off 66-1 shot in 3m2f Fontwell race won by No Way Pedro six weeks ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HORIZON D'OR pulled clear with the eventual winner when finishing an excellent second over 3m at Ludlow last month and, upped 4lb, it would be no surprise if he had enough in the locker to go one place better. Lucky Rose has hit the woodwork since switched to handicaps the last twice, and another prominent showing looks likely. Inspector Lynley will need to bounce back from a subdued effort over 2m4f at Perth last time, but that could be forthcoming in first-time cheekpieces.
GETAWAY WITH YOU went sweetly for a long way when a very good second at Ffos Las last time out and is weighted to go one better here. Ludlow runner-up Horizon d'Or heads the list of dangers, although Lucky Rose, Newtonian and Inspector Lynley are also in the mix in this very open handicap. Aldsworth completes the shortlist.
He has fitness to prove after an 11-month absence but ALDSWORTH can open his account if he responds well to first-time blinkers.

More required but longer trip should suit on handicap debut. Best of five maiden runs when 3rd over 2m at Limerick last time; considered on h'cap bow. |

66/1(-164%) | (16) Blue In The West 66/1, Bit below form third of 9 in novice hurdle at Tramore (16f, heavy, 7/2). Off 12 months. Up in trip. Hard to assess on the back of an absence. Maiden is returning from over a year's absence and likely best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (7) (66/1 -100%) Robyndeglory |
66/1(-100%) | (7) Robyndeglory 66/1, 28/1, first run since leaving Declan Queally when 28 lengths last of 13 to Spring Meadow in handicap hurdle at Limerick (19.4f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Dropped to a handy mark but with a bit to prove. Five hurdle wins but was beaten a long way on debut for this yard and has to improve. |

18/1(+28%) | (5) Ask The Bookie 18/1, 10/1, below form fourth of 16 in novice hurdle at Listowel (18f, soft) 37 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Some decent maiden runs but has to improve plenty from Listowel return effort. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Conor McNamara makes a welcome return to action on this card and could mark the day with a winner as SPRING MEADOW holds strong claims following an impressive victory at Limerick last month. The Fame And Glory gelding won twice for Nigel Twiston-Davies back in 2022 and again appreciated a sound surface when scoring at Limerick last month. Due Course has a similar profile having also been raised 9lb for a cosy win over this trip at Punchestown last time, while Duke Otto won twice around this time last year and has indicated further success could be imminent when finishing well recently over shorter trips.
DUE COURSE is on the up and was value for more than the winning margin at Punchestown last time, so he's fancied to go in again for all that the handicapper has had his say. Fellow last-time-out winner Spring Meadow is a danger and Duke Otto is likely to be on the premises once more.
A disappointing sort on the level and over hurdles, blinkers might eke out a bit more from REALISM.

1st (2) (7/4 +65%) Slugger |
7/4(+65%) | (2) Slugger 7/4, Has an ungainly way of going about things but made a successful start over hurdles in a Kelso novice last October. Generally respectable efforts (on form) since and looks worthy of serious interest starting out for a new yard. 0-5 in handicaps but open to improvement this season; makes debut for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (20/1 -67%) Bellbird |
20/1(-67%) | (11) Bellbird 20/1, Fair maiden on the Flat in France. Scored for his current yard at Ludlow (2m) in May and bounced back to form when second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Bangor on penultimate outing. Effort best excused last time and she's one to keep in mind. Some promise in her recent handicaps without looking ahead of her mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/3 +17%) Byron Hill |
10/3(+17%) | (3) Byron Hill 10/3, 11/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap hurdle at this C&D (soft) 17 days ago by 5½ lengths from Coventry, readily. Very much going the right way now and is worth a chance to follow up. Comfortably saw off Coventry here last time; up 7lb and this looks tougher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (9/4 +0%) Moon Chime |
9/4(+0%) | (1) Moon Chime 9/4, Useful dual bumper winner who boasts a progressive profile over hurdles, doubling his tally in this sphere at Newcastle 8 months ago. Mark of 117 is potentially lenient and he's an obvious player. Odds-on in winning his last two; handicap debut here and has some class about him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (25/1 -108%) Royal Rhythm |
25/1(-108%) | (4) Royal Rhythm 25/1, Made a successful debut for Jonjo O'Neill over fences at Carlisle in October. Added to that at Wetherby on Boxing Day and mostly solid efforts subsequently but this return to hurdling after 5 months off is likely a 'prep' run. Stopped quickly on chase debut latest; good mark but all best form is in the mud. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (10/1 -11%) Heritier |
10/1(-11%) | (9) Heritier 10/1, Largely creditable efforts since joining this yard, creditable fourth over C&D 17 days ago. Others look better treated but he should give his running once more. Had been chasing but was a pleasing fourth over C&D following wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (18/1 +0%) Malangen |
18/1(+0%) | (12) Malangen 18/1, Scored at Hexham in June and generally at least respectable efforts since, including at Ayr earlier in the week. Not discounted. Healthy lead in his last two races only to weaken and be beaten about 13l. |

8th (8) (22/1 +33%) Les's Legacy |
22/1(+33%) | (8) Les's Legacy 22/1, Three-time hurdle winner during 2022/23 campaign. Below form on her last couple of starts in the summer and will probably need this. An infrequent winner who ran moderately in his last couple of runs; had wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (66/1 -164%) Dreams Of Home |
66/1(-164%) | (5) Dreams Of Home 66/1, Struggled for the most part last season and, having left Donald McCain, didn't offer much encouragement over C&D on return. Hard to fancy. Better known as a chaser for Donald McCain; never counted on last month's C&D stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (100/1 -100%) Lady Babs |
100/1(-100%) | (10) Lady Babs 100/1, Below form when last seen and hasn't been seen for almost 2 years, so hard to make a case for her. Not handicapped out of it but saves best for Market Rasen and has been a long-while absent. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MOON CHIME enjoyed a productive campaign last season, culminating in a couple of easy victories over 2m and an extended 2m4f. Stepping back in trip on his handicap debut, he looks well capable of landing the spoils in this company. Byron Hill (first) readily got the better of Coventry (second) when the pair met over this C&D recently and the former can confirm his superiority over that rival en route to emerging as the main danger to the selection.
BYRON HILL took a more significant step forward to open his account in ready fashion over C&D last time and, unexposed for his age, he's fancied improve further to defy a rise. Moon Chime is a big threat if ready to go and Slugger looks noteworthy on debut for a shrewd stable.
New recruit SLUGGER is Harry Derham's only runner on the card and his form in previous handicaps wasn't devoid of promise.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (18/1 -64%) Nelson Muntz |
18/1(-64%) | (4) Nelson Muntz 18/1, Lightly-raced gelding on Flat. 10/1, third of 10 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (16.3f, good) on hurdles bow 18 days ago. Fairly useful on the Flat so considered. Pipped in 1m3f maiden for older horses at Killarney and mark of 78 means he's in the mix. |

20/1(+0%) | (15) Another Night 20/1, Lightly-raced filly. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fourth of 11 in maiden (14/1) at this C&D (good to soft) 17 days ago, doing too much too soon. Not ruled out. A 70-rated filly made the running when well-held fourth in C&D maiden last month. |

17th (3) (200/1 -100%) Milverton |
200/1(-100%) | (3) Milverton 200/1, Once-raced gelding on Flat. 150/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time in this code, last of 11 in maiden at this C&D (good to soft) on flat debut 17 days ago. Second in a bumper at Perth; tailed off over C&D last month. |

18th (1) (80/1 -300%) Gatsby Grey |
80/1(-300%) | (1) Gatsby Grey 80/1, Twice-raced gelding on Flat. Useful winner at 16f over hurdles. Pulled up in handicap hurdle at Galway (16f, good to soft) 15 months ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Useful hurdler ran well over 1m7f before being pulled up in last year's Galway Hurdle. |

19th (14) (250/1 -67%) You Played Well |
250/1(-67%) | (14) You Played Well 250/1, Twice-raced gelding. Tenth of 14 in maiden at Gowran (9.4f, good to soft, 200/1). Off 153 days. Up in trip. Well beaten both starts in early summer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There are plenty in with claims, but MOLTO AMICHI has shown ability in a couple of maiden races so far, including when runner-up at Leopardstown last month. Breeding suggests this extra distance will bring further improvement and he is marginally preferred to Tribal Star. The latter ran well in all three outings in the UK for Charlie Appleby and can feature for his new trainer, while Royal Entry has a shout returning to this lower level and the Ballydoyle filly Osprey should be noted on her reappearance.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and Jessica Harrington's JETARA, a smart hurdles winner, is fancied to go in at the first time of asking in this sphere. Molto Amichi is feared most on the back of his good recent Leopardstown second, with Royal Entry also well in the mix now lowered in grade. Osprey, Liltia and Tribal Star are others to consider.
Entitled to come on from her latest run, BLOOM VEGA is given another chance to deliver on the promise of her debut second over 1m2f here

1st (2) (9/2 +25%) Orchestra |
9/2(+25%) | (2) Orchestra 9/2, Fair performer on Flat who matched his best form over timber when close second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter in May. Not disgraced next time and arrives fit from the Flat. Two Flat wins; 0-6 over hurdles but touched off over 2m and looks worth a go over further. |

2nd (6) (2/1 +27%) Just Chasing May |
2/1(+27%) | (6) Just Chasing May 2/1, Looked one to follow in opening his account in thoroughly dominant fashion in 13-runner handicap at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good to soft) in June and simply bumped into a highly progressive rival at Southwell 11 days ago. Can get back to winning ways. Impressed when 2m4f winner on handicap debut; ran up against a Skelton improver latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (11/2 -38%) Harry Gulliver |
11/2(-38%) | (10) Harry Gulliver 11/2, Still low mileage and left previous efforts behind when landing a C&D handicap last month. May not have reached his limit and deserves respect. Fell/unseated in 2 of 4 handicaps; sprang a surprise over C&D latest; up 5lb; good claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (14/1 +36%) Grain Trade |
14/1(+36%) | (9) Grain Trade 14/1, Little in the way of solid form so far but could, theoretically, up his game switched to handicaps after 6 months off with a hood refitted. Not shown much so far but bred to do better and might improve now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/2 +36%) Penna Rossa |
9/2(+36%) | (8) Penna Rossa 9/2, First run since leaving Helen Nelmes when very good second of 18 in handicap hurdle at Exeter last month but looked laboured at Stratford 3 days ago, struggling a long way out. Blinkers go back on. Struggled since juvenile win in 2022; nearly made winning yard debut but pulled up since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (16/1 -60%) Shantou Lucky |
16/1(-60%) | (4) Shantou Lucky 16/1, Winning hurdler/chaser in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell. Left previous form for present connections behind when readily accounting for 10 rivals in first-time cheekpieces (retained here) at Perth in September but failed to back it up at Carlisle 17 days ago. Back to form in this headgear combination in September; not nearly so good next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (40/1 +39%) Charlie My Boy |
40/1(+39%) | (5) Charlie My Boy 40/1, Hasn't shown any spark in a handful of appearances for present yard and has plenty to prove. Won consecutive hurdles for previous yard in 2023; right out of sorts of late; had wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (14/1 -40%) Midnight Jewel |
14/1(-40%) | (1) Midnight Jewel 14/1, C&D winner who got back on scoreboard when taking Fontwell handicap chase (19.5f) last month. Not at same level there latest, though, and looks on a stiff mark back over hurdles here. Chase winner in September; not far away on latest hurdle run in August; on the premises. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (16/1 -78%) Jaxonne |
16/1(-78%) | (7) Jaxonne 16/1, Landed a gamble at Ludlow (21.2f) in May but yet to really build on that. Has been given a break and there's still a feeling that he has a bigger effort in him. Won 2m5f handicap in May; not beaten far over 2m7f latest; can be a factor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (33/1 -18%) Just Four Fame |
33/1(-18%) | (3) Just Four Fame 33/1, Third in an Aintree bumper in May 2022 but hurdling efforts have been uninspiring in the main (tailed off at Fontwell 11 days ago). Needs the first-time cheekpieces to have a positive effect. Easy to back before pulled up on handicap debut (2m5f) last week; cheekpieces fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (40/1 +0%) Real Rewards |
40/1(+0%) | (12) Real Rewards 40/1, Runner-up on last of 4 starts in Irish points but yet to offer any promise under Rules. Cheekpieces are tried for the first time. Close 2nd in final Irish point but well held over hurdles, including on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
JUST CHASING MAY bolted up over 2m4f at Uttoxeter on his penultimate start and, after shaping like he was still in good heart when finishing runner-up at Southwell last month, he looks the one to side with nudged up 2lb. Harry Gulliver scored over this track and trip last month and a 5lb rise for that display doesn't discount another bold showing, while Shantou Lucky is respected most of the remainder.
JUST CHASING MAY is on the up and bumped into one at Soutwell recently, so he's fancied to get back to winning ways at the possible expense of Orchestra, who was in good order when last seen in this sphere. Gwennie May Jem is another to consider.
Harry Gulliver was a revelation here last time but preference is for JUST CHASING MAY who ran up against a good prospect in October.
Ths is the racecard key.
