12:45 Curragh Maiden 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

CAP SAINT MARTIN was one of Joseph O'Brien's French runners this summer and now contests his first maiden, at median sires series level. It is a small concern he has missed the break on both starts but nonetheless showed ability at Killarney before taking fifth behind stablemate and Goffs Million winner Apples And Bananas at Deauville, with the third subsequently winning a Group 3. All those ahead of Romantic War at Naas in July have won races since - along with the 12th-placed finisher - and while Romantic War showed ability there, he now returns from a break. Vorfreude finished well over a juvenile staying distance on debut here, while Habari's winning dam is a half-sister to Harzand.

Only a handful of these make any serious appeal and having already reached a fairly useful level, CAP SAINT MARTIN is selected to make it third time lucky for the in-form Joseph O'Brien yard. The main danger may emerge from Vorfreude, who showed plenty to work on when fifth at this track last month and is open to improvement. Clementines Dream, Habari and Alba Chiara round off the shortlist.

A drop in class may see CAP SAINT MARTIN (nap) break his maiden after a promising run in Listed company last time out

13:15 Curragh Maiden 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

NOBLER chased home a subsequent Listed winner last month and, were the ground to ease, has prior form on yielding to soft. A 120,000gns purchase and a sibling to three black-type performers, he was green when third in an ordinary Galway maiden in August but progressed with a useful run at Listowel. He tackles seemingly lesser opponents than Right And True today. Ja'marr showed plenty of ability in a hot maiden on his June debut and while the runner-up, fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth have all won since, his subsequent Killarney run was underwhelming and he hasn't raced since. What's Your Game is out of a Listed winner and cost 125,000gns as a yearling.

NOBLER has made a very good start, finding just a subsequent listed winner too strong at Listowel last time, and he can open his account here. Thebelmontgangster is feared most ahead of I Am Me.

This maiden has a bit more depth than division one with the tentative vote going to NOBLER having shown promise in 2 runs so far

Open to improvement now pitched into a handicap, especially with this stiffer track likely to be more up his street.
Promise in three bumpers and in three runs over hurdles; needs to improve now handicapping.

Absent following a low-key effort the following month, though, and will need to raise his game in order to make a winning reappearance.

It was a struggle for the most part last season (has undergone a wind op since latest run) but he resumes in this sphere for new connections on a potentially very handy mark.

13:22 Carlisle Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The fitting of first-time cheekpieces worked the oracle for SHANTOU LUCKY when romping home at Perth last month. Although a 9lb hike in the ratings demands more from the seven-year-old, a double could be on the cards. Malangen has shown up well over further of late and a return to this 2m1f distance should suit. Lisa Harrison's charge is feared most, ahead of stablemate Dalileo.

Having shaped with encouragement back from a break at Perth last month, KNOMOREDIAMONDS is taken to make a winning handicap debut off what could turn out to be a very fair opening mark. Irish import Shantou Lucky appeared to turn a corner when scoring at Perth and he is the clear main danger ahead of Dreams of Home and Serious Ego.

A chance is taken on SERIOUS EGO to collect his second win of the season. Blue Fin and Heritier should also go well.

13:30 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

First-time blinkers seemed to provide the missing ingredient for MY GENGHIS when he kept on well to score over 6f at Wolverhampton and, with excellent apprentice Jack Doughty retaining the ride, a 2lb higher mark might not be enough to prevent the five-year-old from following up. Tommytwohoots, who is 6lb well-in after his surprise heavy-ground success at Nottingham, is feared most, with the well-handicapped Lady Nagin also a key player.

TOMMYTWOHOOTS escapes a penalty for last week's convincing Nottingham win so his follow-up claims appear to be bright. Fellow last-time-out winner My Genghis is the obvious danger, though Marcus is likely to bounce back from a rare poor run at Southwell.

His overall record is too inconsistent for comfort but TOMMYTWOHOOTS showed again last week how well he can go on heavy ground.

Fellow hurdling debutant Ma Shantou also boasted some good NH Flat form last season and isn't taken lightly on his reappearance. He is feared most, ahead of 93-rated Flat performer Vaguely Royal.

CELTIC DINO impressed in bumpers and has both the size and scope to make his mark over jumps, so he's taken to get off to the perfect start in this sphere. Vaguely Royal is an interesting hurdles recruit having shown a good level of form on the Flat for John & Thady Gosden, with Ma Shantou also of interest.

Sam Thomas has had a good week and his CELTIC DINO ran to a high enough level in bumpers to believe he could be a smart hurdler.

13:50 Curragh Maiden 6f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

EAST HAMPTON is already familiar with competing over this course and distance and drops to a lesser maiden on his return following a break. He met trouble in running when showing promise on debut in May and, while beaten twice subsequently when racing too keenly, he still shaped with enough promise to suggest he can win this. Asdana has bumped into some smart fillies at both Gowran and Tipperary and is interesting now dropped in distance. Colin Keane rides 42,000-pound April breeze-up purchase Cali Case and he should be noted for any market support on debut.

There is more to come from EAST HAMPTON back from a break and he gets the vote over newcomers Cali Case and Classical Symphony.

There was plenty of promise in BALLINTOGHER's C&D run when last seen and he should handle softer conditions

13:57 Carlisle Handicap Chase (Class 3) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Chase/seasonal debutant Donnacha is an infrequent runner at this venue for trainer Nigel Hawke and he must enter calculations having capped off last season with a career-best victory at Exeter. However, THE CHURCHILL LAD made a winning chase bow at Hexham 13 days ago and that experience could prove crucial. A 4lb rise for that triumph looks more than workable and the five-year-old shades the verdict. Western Zephyr is also noted.

This looks pretty trappy and the suggestion is WESTERN ZEPHYR, who resumes on an attractive mark and will have every chance if able to get back on track. Dollar Collar and Donnacha are both of interest starting out over fences here, while The Churchill Lad is respected in his bid to maintain his 100% record in this sphere and Parisencore is also shortlisted.

Three-time hurdle winner DONNACHA has travelled from Devon to make his seasonal and chasing debut and earns the vote.

14:05 Brighton Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

RORY ROCKET showed promise to finish second on both of his previous starts and having already proven himself capable of handling cut in the ground, the son of Aclaim is presented with a decent chance of coming out on top. Mini Mac was a length and a half behind the selection in third at Bath last week and, entitled to be wiser, can make his presence felt. Pickering Castle is another going the right way and also warrants consideration.

MINI MAC's debut wasn't devoid of promise and sure to know more this time, he might find the necessary improvement to see off the likes of Pickering Castle and Rory Rocket.

Given the heavy conditions and when bearing in mind he got loose before the start, MINI MAC made a positive debut at Bath.

14:18 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The Bold Thady was probably fortunate to spring a surprise at Worcester last month, but another prominent role is forecast. However, a 4lb rise in the ratings does demand more from the seven-year-old and preference is for NO MORE NO. Lawney Hill's gelding arrives on the back of a career-best victory at Southwell and a 5lb higher mark is unlikely the ceiling of his ability. Kick Up A Storm may fare best of the remainder.

MUSIQUE DE FEE has shown improved form sent handicapping on her last 2 starts, getting off the mark at Ludlow in April before shaping as if a step up in trip would suit last time, so she is taken to resume winning ways having a first try at 3m. Cherry Cola could also benefit from this longer distance and is feared most, ahead of Caher Roes Den.

Very open. CAHER ROES DEN cost £110,000 after winning his point and should be capable of bettering his rules form now he's handicapping.

14:25 Curragh Handicap 5f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

SATURN SEVEN won last year's renewal off this mark of 68 and is again likely to encounter easy ground conditions. She defeated the reopposing Art Of Unity by a short head last year and, while winless in six runs this year, she bounced back to form recently at the track when second. Lismacbryan defeated the selection that day but was subsequently well held at Navan. The aforementioned six-time winner Art Of Unity has been running well under his 10lb claimer recently, while Gegenpressing also comes into calculations.

Any number to consider but RATHBRANCHURCH ran a belter from 4 lb out of the weights when fourth at Naas on Saturday and back on his correct mark, he seems sure to go well. Art of Unity, Hero of The Hour and Lismacbryan are just a trio of potential dangers.

With the prospect of the ground easing GEGENPRESSING is taken to reverse recent course form with Lismacbryan and Saturn Seven

14:32 Carlisle Novices Hurdle (Class 4) 17f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

COUNTRY PARK offered plenty to work with on his first completed start over hurdles when runner-up to a decent sort at Uttoxeter in June. The point-to-point winner is sure to enjoy this greater emphasis on stamina and a breakthrough victory under Rules looks imminent. The biggest threat is Junker D'allier, who filled the runner-up spot on all three of his starts in bumpers last season. The Dan Skelton-trained newcomer Lola Blue must be watched closely in the betting.

Those with hurdles experience do not set an exacting standard so above-average bumper performers MALICASH and Junker d'Allier may come to the fore on reappearance. Marginal preference before market clues is with the former, starting out for a new yard. Lola Blue is also a likely-looking newcomer on paper.

The attractively bred LOLA BLUE makes her debut and gets the nod for Dan Skelton, who has a good record here.

14:40 Brighton Stakes (Class 4) 8f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SUPER MIRAGE impressed, despite running green, when he made a winning debut at Bath and a penalty is unlikely to cause too many issues as this potentially useful son of Arizona bids to follow up. Something of a surprise winner at Yarmouth, Far From Dandy was still eyecatching enough to suggest he can also be a player here. Great David and Bear Island appeal most of the rest with experience, while Pure Tenacity is an interesting newcomer.

FAR FROM DANDY clearly derived plenty from his debut when a ready winner at Yarmouth a month ago, value for extra to boot, and on that evidence, he's up to defying a penalty. Super Mirage was also well on top when successful at Bath so he must be considered a threat, with Great David another to note.

The ground is a grey area for GREAT DAVID but the same is true for a few in here and the selection should really have won at Bath.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Having made light work of his rivals on the switch to hurdles at Newton Abbot, four-time chase winner INVESTMENT MANAGER makes plenty of appeal reverting to the larger obstacles. Joe Tizzard's charge looks to have a race of this nature within his compass and a double could be on the cards. Lord Accord is 6lb higher than for his 16-length romp over timber at Sedgefield, but that is unlikely to prevent another bold bid and he isn't taken lightly. Newton Abbot specialist Hold Your Fort completes the shortlist.

HOLD YOUR FORT has been one of the success stories of the summer and with the ceiling of his ability yet to be ascertained, Debra Hamer's 5-y-o is fancied to make it 5 on the spin at the expense of Inflexible, who got off the mark fitted with cheekpieces at this C&D in April and should have even more to offer this season. Recent hurdles winner Lord Accord can edge out Investment Manager for third.

Competitive. FANTASTIKAS (nap) is handicapped to win races and he returns from a break with his yard going great guns.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

This looks quite open and with no standout name in the line-up, it might be worth taking a chance on DR WAKSMAN. He had a far-from-smooth passage when last seen but still managed to finish a never-nearer fifth, with this step up in trip likely to play to his strengths. Bard Of Avon didn't act on the surface at Dundalk and a reproduction of his penultimate effort would probably be good enough to take a contest of this quality. A brother to Group 2 winner High Definition, Hypnosis is of definite interest returning from a lengthy absence, while Liltia, Another Night (first-time cheekpieces) and Kaptain Bay are others for the shortlist.

LILTIA took her form to a new level when runner-up at Navan a month ago and a repeat of that may well suffice for her in-form yard. This trip seems sure to suit Bard of Avon so he's a huge threat, while Hypnosis surely has a bigger performance in him given the connections he represents.

Preference is for DR WAKSMAN, who flew home here last month over 1m2f after getting into all kinds of trouble

15:07 Carlisle Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Gentleman Bill did it well when scoring comfortably over 2m1f in a Newcastle bumper on his debut for this yard last season and, provided he is fully tuned up on his return to action, he should go well now tackling hurdles for the first time. That said, WOODLAND PARK is narrowly preferred. The 110,000-euro son of Walk In The Park looked a gelding of considerable potential when bolting up at Market Rasen when last seen and, on his hurdling debut, a bold bid is expected. I Wish You is the pick of the remainder.

Jamie Snowden's LA MARQUISE showed plenty in bumpers last season so is fancied to make a winning start in this sphere at the chief expense of form choice I Wish You who might have to settle for second yet again. Woodland Park, Windsor Wife and Gentleman Bill are other hurdling debutants who could have a say.

Preference is for hurdling newcomer LA MARQUISE, who was third in the Grade 2 mares' bumper at Aintree in April.

15:15 Brighton Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ESCAPE ACT has been competing in higher-grade handicaps than this since scoring on soft going at Doncaster in July. He remains relatively unexposed and a bold bid is anticipated from the son of Mehmas back at this level. Ardbraccan has more to find off his current mark, but could still have a say in the outcome returning to this lower grade. On Song tends to save his best for this track, although his success here in August came over a shorter trip.

Lots with chances but ARDBRACCAN rates the pick at these weights and is taken to gain a deserved success. Darvel captured this prize in 2022 and seems sure to go well once more, while On Song and Profit And Loss need considering too.

It might be worth siding with DARVEL, who won this race in 2022 and is only 1lb higher than for for success at Bath this spring.

15:28 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Sam's Amour bolted up in a novice hurdle at Exeter and she is one to take seriously now that she steps back into the handicap ranks. However, the vote goes to EXPRESS SURPRISE, who finished just over four lengths clear of the third when runner-up in a first-time tongue-tie at Stratford in June. He returns to action off just 3lb higher on only his third handicap start and he gets the nod. Stay If U Want To is another to consider.

TOUT SUR MOI shaped with plenty of encouragement in a trio of maiden hurdles last season and, with this step up in trip sure to suit, he's of major interest on his handicap debut. Far Sight ran well in a race that has worked out at Huntingdon when last seen in May and remains unexposed for his current yard, while Sam's Amour needs respecting under a penalty for last week's Exeter success.

Less likely than some to mind if the rain affects the ground, STAY IF U WANT TO can deny Exeter scorer Sam's Amour the follow-up.

After finishing a fine seventh in the valuable Northfields Handicap over C&D on Champions Weekend, APERCU will appreciate this drop in class. Tried in blinkers for the first time now, she should be able to confirm Northfields form with the reopposing Fleetfoot. Ger O'Leary has his horses in fine form of late, with his Scholarship appearing the main danger. A runner-up three times from six starts this season, he certainly wouldn't be winning out of turn. Encosta warrants respect, as does four-time winner Fiver Friday.

SCHOLARSHIP's very best efforts this term have come with blinkers enlisted, notably when finishing runner-up at Listowel 24 days ago. Evidently on a handy mark, he gets the nod to confirm the promise of that effort stepping back down in trip. Fleetfoot showed the benefit of his belated reappearance when runner-up himself recently and he's next best, ahead of Fiver Friday.

1m2f on testing ground could be the answer for SCHOLARSHIP who went close over C&D and was back to form with a 2nd recently

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

This may prove an ideal opportunity for SNIPE to return to winning ways. Dan Skelton's charge caught the eye when staying on strongly into second over 3m at Doncaster on his penultimate start in January and, with excuses for his low-key effort in the Grand National trial at Haydock when last seen, he looks the one to side with having gone well fresh before. Wasdell Dundalk and Inis Oirr are the ones expected to put up most resistance.

SNIPE had an excellent first season over fences and, fresh from 8 months off, he's fancied to get back on the up. Abuffalosoldier is a player if able to dominate and Inis Oirr merits consideration on the back of a satisfactory return.

The Dan Skelton-trained SNIPE could have more to offer and gets the vote ahead of Inis Oirr.

15:50 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A winner at Leicester in July, LITTLE TIGER followed that success with a decisive victory over C&D on last week's return to action. He is penalised for that, but is due to be raised a further 6lb in the future and the hat-trick beckons for William Stone's inmate. Fighting Poet usually goes well here, although he was no match for the selection last time and Fullforward may pose a bigger threat, despite a 5lb penalty for his recent triumph over 1m4f here.

LITTLE TIGER ran out a comfortable victor over C&D last week and a 5 lb penalty doesn't look sufficient to prevent him from bagging a third success of 2024. Chourmo is always to be feared round here and is next on the list with course scorers Fullforward and Fighting Poet also shortlisted.

This can go to the progressive 4yo LITTLE TIGER, who won by 7l over C&D last week and is 6lb well in under a penalty.

16:03 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Hillsin hasn't been out of the top two on his last five starts and it would be no surprise to see him continue his fine form in order to have a say. However, DIPLOMATIE makes more appeal. The six-year-old caught the eye when making the frame on her first appearance for the Harry Derham yard at Southwell and the handicapper may have been kind to leave her mark alone. No Way Pedro is the pick of the remainder.

A 3-time winner in Jersey this summer, DIPLOMATIE made a solid start for the Harry Derham yard whilst suggesting the race didn't get to the bottom of her when staying on for third at Southwell 2 weeks ago. She's of interest over the longest trip she's faced with fellow in-form Hillsin rating an obvious danger. Emanate and Climate Precedent are others to consider in a competitive affair.

The trip asks a new question but DIPLOMATIE still looks the answer, ahead of Thirtyfour Thirty.

16:10 Curragh Handicap 14f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A case can be made for many in this ultra-competitive affair. Successful three times in six starts since joining Denis Hogan, POLEMON might still be ahead of the handicapper on a mark of 79. The Frankel five-year-old is unproven over this trip but is still sure to have plenty of supporters, judging by the manner of his latest victory. A fast-finishing second after missing the break at Thurles last week, it'll come as no surprise if Sir Allen manages to go a place better, while recent winners Paradise Lost and Arch Enemy are of definite interest. One of four Gavin Cromwell-trained representatives in the line-up, Club Manager is another leading hope.

This is wide open but SIR ALLEN can race off the same mark as when an excellent recent Thurles second so edges the vote. Gavin Cromwell's duo Pachmena and Club Manager must enter calculations, while the likes of Curious Bride, Scatchwah, Cast A Spell and Paradise Lost all need factoring in too.

SCATCHWAH hit the line hard when third here latest. He should relish the extra two furlongs and conditions will be fine

16:15 Carlisle Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Useful on the Flat in Ireland and now two from three over timber, IRISH LULLABY looks a shrewd acquisition to hurdling for a burgeoning stable. The daughter of Nathaniel showed a likeable attitude when bringing up a double over 2m1f at Cartmel in May and, pitched into handicap company for the first time over obstacles, she gets the vote. Narrowly denied over 2m at Perth last month, Byron Hill must enter calculations, along with Independent Jimmy.

A case can be made for a few of these but Martin Todhunter's V TWELVE was last seen over hurdles scoring at Wetherby and has been in winning form on the Flat since so gets the vote. The returning Irish Lullaby looks to have more to offer and could emerge as the main danger ahead of in-form duo Byron Hill and Beny Nahar Road.

Useful Flat performer IRISH LULLABY (nap) has made a promising start to her hurdles career and gets the vote ahead of King Of Tara.

16:20 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

OTAGO wasn't at his best last time but the son of Cable Bay, a multiple C&D winner, is expected to bounce back. Jim Boyle's gelding landed the corresponding event off 1lb higher 12 months ago and, with conditions to suit, this looks a winnable opportunity. Romanovich remains in good form but does have a bit to prove on ground as testing as this is likely to be, so Voodoo Ray could be the bigger threat.

ROMANOVICH is enjoying a very good season and taken to garner a fourth victory on the back of his very good recent second here. Otago is feared most in his bid to follow up his success of 12 months ago with Ceilidh and Voodoo Ray in the picture too.

Preference is for ROMANOVICH (nap), who has won two of his last five runs and found more progress when a close second here last time.

16:25 Southwell Maiden (Class 4) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Santorini Star makes plenty of appeal on paper as a half-sister to two-time Group 1 winner Dreamloper and she needs to be monitored in the market ahead of her debut. However, experience may count for plenty in this small field and, with that in mind, SHAHA looks the way to go. John & Thady Gosden's three-year-old only found subsequent Listed winner Diamond Rain too good on her debut at Ascot and, with normal progression, she could prove hard to beat. Merry Widow looks booked for third.

While both of the newcomers are appealing on paper, SHAHA showed plenty when just touched off by a subsequent listed winner at Ascot during the spring and, provided that she takes to this surface, the Cracksman filly will prove hard to beat. Santorini Star is taken to edge out Merry Widow in the race for second-place prizemoney.

The two newcomers make appeal but SHAHA went close in a decent race on debut and is the call before any betting clues are known.

16:35 Chelmsford Maiden (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

There was a lot to like about DEVIL'S ADVOCATE's debut performance, when finishing third over the mile at Newmarket three weeks ago. The Too Darn Hot colt, who fetched 350,000gns at the sales last year, looks certain to appreciate these extra two furlongs and with his yard coming into form, he can take a step forward. Kate O'riley is another who made a pleasing start to her racing career on the Rowley Mile and must enter calculations, while Navalanche should not be underestimated with Oisin Murphy aboard.

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE made a very promising debut when third in a Newmarket maiden last month, pulling well clear of the rest under hands-and-heels riding, so he looks to hold leading claims of getting off the mark. Rogue Diplomat also shaped encouragingly on his first start and could be the biggest threat, with Kate O'Riley the pick of the remainder.

Nothing can be comfortably dismissed but the two who appeal most are DEVIL'S ADVOCATE and Navalanche.

16:40 Wincanton Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 15f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

James Owen has done well with horses switching from the Flat and that has certainly been the case with ROGUE KING, now two from three over timber following facile victories at Plumpton and Fontwell. The three-year-old receives weight all round and an opening mark of 112 could underestimate him. Aggagio ought to be well handicapped from his current rating and is considered, while others to note include Wreckless Eric and Princess T.

ROGUE KING faces his sternest assignment to date following a pair of wide-margin juvenile hurdle victories yet, in receipt of his very handy 3-y-o allowance he could well be up to the task for his in-form trainer/jockey combination. Wreckless Eric was 2-3 over hurdles last term and he's of definite interest on return. Admiralty House back from a lengthy absence and Aggagio are others to consider.

Match fit and inclined to settle in this sphere, ROGUE KING can round off a hat-trick ahead of the returning Wreckless Eric.

16:45 Curragh Handicap 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Already a dual C&D winner, GOLDMOYNE should give a good account of himself. He beat 27 rivals when leading from pillar to post here in August, finishing a respectable third on his most recent visit to the venue. After making the breakthrough at Navan recently, Rosato will be well fancied to follow up, while Bellewstown winner Eastern Wind is another leading hope. Dark Viper, I Bid You Ajou, Little Keelie and Hale Bopp all warrant respect after filling the runner-up spot when last seen.

GLENCULLEN again ran well despite meeting trouble here last time and is very much threatening to come good soon. Navan winner Rosato and Little Keilee are feared, with veteran Downforce arguably the pick of the three from his yard.

A minefield to solve but a winner on this card last year, RACING ROYALTY might be primed to return to the winner's enclosure

16:50 Carlisle Handicap Chase (Class 4) 16f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Mint Gold was beaten five lengths into second in a stronger contest than this at Perth in April and the veteran is one to take seriously off an unchanged mark. However, HOLD ONTO THE LINE gets the vote. The seven-year-old struck in good style in this grade at Musselburgh in January and now makes his return to action off only 1lb higher. With Brian Hughes booked, he could prove tough to beat. Five Dollar Fine completes the shortlist.

KEEP RUNNING probably hasn't reached his limit as a chaser and he should be prepared for this return, so he gets the marginal vote ahead of Mint Gold, who was in good order when last seen. Five Dollar Fine is also of interest.

Warren Greatrex's horses are running well and KEEP RUNNING is taken to make a winning reappearance, having had wind surgery.

16:55 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A chance can be taken on PORFIN, who finds himself on a workable mark following a handful of below-par efforts on the all-weather. Softening ground conditions should be no barrier to success and, in a race lacking much depth, he could represent some value. World Of Darcy seems to have turned a corner and merits the utmost respect having recorded a comfortable success at Windsor on Monday. That said, a 12lb penalty will undoubtedly make things tougher. Newcastle scorer Tomorrow Day heads the remainder.

WORLD OF DARCY has a 12 lb penalty to overcome but arrives in rare form so is fancied to rattle off his hat-trick at the chief expense of Fai Fai who rates next best at these weights. Newcastle victor Tomorrow Day and C&D winner Porfin also merit plenty of respect in the battle for minor honours.

After a spiralling fall from grace WORLD OF DARCY has got his mojo back and clearly loves this ground.

17:00 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Papa Don't Preach proved a different proposition in first-time blinkers when running out a two-length victor at Chelmsford recently and he should mount a bold bid, despite his 5lb penalty. However, he could come out second best to LADY NUNTHORPE, who produced a better effort to make the frame in this grade at Newcastle earlier in the month. With Tom Kiely-Marshall claiming 5lb in the plate, she could be the one to beat. Soul Singer is another to note.

PAPA DON'T PREACH did the job well when resuming winning ways at Chelmsford on Saturday and he looks more than capable of shrugging off a penalty in this company. Lady Nunthorpe could be the one to follow him home if able to back up her latest effort, while Rogue de Vega needs to bounce back but he will certainly have a chance if able to do so.

If the blinkers continue to have a positive effect \bPAPA DON'T PREACH (nap)p looks capable of defying a 5lb penalty for Wolverhampton.

17:10 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

After a couple of below-par efforts on the turf, it was much more like it from SWITCHEL over 1m4f at Southwell three weeks ago. The daughter of Golden Horn only weakened into third late on that day, suggesting a drop in trip could suit. Champion jockey-elect Oisin Murphy gets aboard for the first time, and any improvement could see the filly make it 11th time lucky. All four of Jenson Benson's career victories have come around here and he's appealing from a workable mark, while Angel Mac might step forward now pitched into handicaps for the first time.

Having dropped to a handy mark, SWITCHEL ran well on her first all-weather start of the year when third at Southwell 3 weeks ago and she can build on that effort to open her account. Gone Rogue arrives in good heart and is feared most as he goes up in trip, with Myna completing the shortlist.

With his recent Musselburgh form having some substance, GONE ROGUE may be the answer. Myna is second choice.

17:15 Wincanton Handicap Chase (Class 5) 25f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BALLYNAHEER returned from a break on the back of wind surgery earlier this month, staying on into third at Uttoxeter. The slight step up in trip should suit the five-year-old and, from an unchanged mark, he can find the necessary improvement. Getupearly, runner-up on his last two starts, looks set to go close once again. Even so, Toad Of Toad Hall is competitively treated and might prove the bigger threat with Jamie Brace taking 3lb off his back.

Having had a wind op, BALLYNAHEER shaped encouragingly sent chasing after 5 months off when third at Uttoxeter recently and, with improvement on the cards, he's fancied to go a couple of places better at the expense of Getupearly, who has finished runner-up on his last 2 starts and remains low mileage in this sphere. School For Scandal and the returning Robinsville can fight out third.

It's been a solid start over fences for GETUPEARLY and he may have bumped into a sharp improver last time.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Point-to-point winner KADJAR DES MOTTES changed hands for 72,000 pounds in May and the son of Balko is related to plenty of winners. Therefore, it would be no surprise to see him make an instant impression under Brian Hughes, with his main threat possibly being Blue Carpet. Dan Skelton's four-year-old wouldn't have to be anything out of the ordinary on his debut to have a say in this contest, while any market support for Walk Of Faith would be interesting.

No Rules form to go on but an interesting bunch on the whole. The market will reveal more but as things stand, JET TO VEGAS gets the tentative nod on the back of an easy point win. Kapal Layar and Blue Carpet also tick plenty of boxes.

120,000euros 3yo WALK OF FAITH is a half-brother to bet365 Gold Cup winner Minella Cocooner and is taken to make a winning start.

17:30 Southwell Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CHIRINGITA finished a fair fourth on her debut before showing improvement to make the frame over 6f at Kempton on her latest outing. The daughter of American Pharoah looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to shed her maiden tag at the third time of asking. Thecoffeepoddotco brings plenty of experience to the table and might get into contention, along with Shamrock Breeze.

CHIRINGITA's latest Kempton third was an effort packed full of promise so, with clear potential for better still, she earns the vote ahead of Irish raider and standard setter Shamrock Breeze who has her first crack at this trip. Fluorescence and Mseka are a couple of newcomers to monitor in the betting for clues.

Irish raider SHAMROCK BREEZE has the ideal draw to showcase her speed and is taken to last home on her first attempt at 6f.

17:45 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Just a short head separated H KEY LAILS (second) and Bold Suitor (winner) over C&D last month. The latter is actually better off at the weights with Kaiya Fraser only claiming 3lb on this occasion, but stall one could be vital for Michael Attwater's charge and he is taken to reverse the form. Charlatan was knocking on the door when last seen in July. He is three from five on the all-weather and can be expected to mount another bold bid.

H KEY LAILS and Bold Suitor were closely matched over C&D 4 weeks ago and may dominate this, with preference for the former. The latter has shaped well here since that contest and Carvalhal looks of interest dropping in grade with Oisin Murphy booked.

Bold Suitor and H Key Lails are tightly matched. CHARLATAN, Carvalhal and High Court Judge are interesting.

18:00 Southwell Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BRAVE BYREFLECTION made a debut full of promise when runner-up at Ripon. The winner has subsequently won again, so that form looks solid and the daughter of Mohaather is one to keep on the right side of. Maiden winner Dear Cat faced a tough assignment in a nursery at Doncaster last time and can go well back at this level, while Jake Loves Laura and Bear Facts are both likely improvers.

The vote goes to BRAVE BYREFLECTION, who fared best of the newcomers when runner-up in a Ripon maiden in August and she is sure to improve. Dear Cat will find this company more palatable having contested a Class 2 Doncaster nursery last time and she is second choice ahead of likely-looking newcomers How Lovely and Nazuki.

Dear Cat should go well under a penalty but Ripon debut runner-up BRAVE BYREFLECTION may be able to improve past her.

18:15 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Bear To Dream, Wrath Of Hector and Yoshimi have all won off higher marks and command respect in a race of this nature. However, PROFITMAN, a C&D winner off 4lb lower in April, is open to more progression than many and, having gone down by just a neck when second in a similar race back here last month, the Ben Brookhouse-trained three-year-old rates the most appealing option on these terms.

PROFITMAN arrives on the back of a good second over C&D and this isn't a strong affair, so he's fancied to go one better for all that Wrath of Hector and Stella Hogan also arrive in reasonable form.

With strong claims kept to this C&D, PROFITMAN (nap) is preferred. Stella Hogan is second choice.

18:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE was beaten just a length when third over course and distance on his recent all-weather debut. That effort can be upgraded, given he had to be switched for a clear run, and Tim Easterby's sprinter makes plenty of appeal. Fiscal Policy was hampered when finishing fifth in the same race and can finish closer with normal luck in running, while Cliffcake won off a 5lb higher mark at the track back in March and is another to note.

The most appealing of these is SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE, who saw daylight too late in the day when a close third in a C&D handicap last time and he remains on an attractive mark. Strong Johnson's losing run is mounting up but, on the upside, the assessor is relenting and this 8-y-o has to be feared. Fiscal Policy, who wasn't too far behind the selection over C&D earlier this month, is also shortlisted, along with Lipsink.

Tim Easterby's SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE gets the vote to build on a promising first AW start over C&D 12 days ago.

18:45 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 7f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

This appears to be at the mercy of LOCAL MUSIC, who is 4lb well-in under a penalty after a comfortable C&D success last week. The daughter of U S Navy Flag has taken a shine to this venue and, assuming the quick turnaround doesn't catch her out, a third course triumph should be within her reach. Fellow penalised runner Wilde And Dandy and dual track-and-trip winner Twitch rate the most appealing alternatives, although Bell Shot could also go close.

HOW IMPRESSIVE isn't the most straightforward but he's well treated and benefited from a return to polytrack when second here last time, so he gets the narrow vote over last-time-out winner Local Music, who is certainly going the right way. Bell Shot is another one to consider.

How Impressive and Wilde And Dandy are players but LOCAL MUSIC has a cracking chance if she's in the same form as last week.

19:00 Southwell Handicap (Class 2) 7f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

BILLYJOH gets another chance in an open contest. Mick Appleby's charge has yet to win over 7f, but has finished runner-up over this distance at both Ascot at Goodwood this season. Persuasion can go well again after scoring at Haydock, while both Bobby Bennu and Merlin The Wizard have plenty of scope for improvement and the veteran Documenting is still capable in this grade on his day.

BILLYJOH has acquitted himself with plenty of credit in competitive big-field handicaps on turf in recent months, not finding the gaps appearing in time when midfield in last month's Ayr Gold Cup. Boasting a positive profile on synthetics and still lightly raced at 7f, he could be the answer. This is competitive though, with Paborus, Zero Carbon and Cloud Cover others holding sound claims. Haydock-scorer Persuasion is another in the mix.

A good handicap in which the vote goes to BILLYJOH, who has a good track record and is only 1lb higher than when second at Royal Ascot.

19:15 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

SIMIYANN was impressive when scoring by six lengths at Wolverhampton 10 days ago and is very hard to ignore, even with a 5lb penalty imposed. He appears to have found an extra gear now he has adapted to racing in a visor and is a strong fancy to give weight and a beating to his rivals. Smokey Malone is effective over track and trip so also warrants serious thought. Drouthy Neebor, a potential improver over this distance, is a must for a betting check.

SIMIYANN capitalised on a career-low mark when shedding the maiden tag in facile fashion at Wolverhampton 10 days ago and a 5 lb penalty shouldn't prevent him following up. Drouthy Neebor shapes as though worth a crack at this sort of trip and along with Smokey Malone, can provide chief resistance.

Simiyann made his breakthrough in no little style ten days ago but SMOKEY MALONE's strong finish at Southwell was encouraging.

19:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Embarked showed a likeable attitude when making all over C&D last month and, upped 3lb, another bold bid looks likely. That said, SNASH is narrowly preferred. Tim Easterby's charge caught the eye when making headway from off the pace to finish fourth over 6f in a deeper race than this at Newcastle earlier in the month. Eased 1lb and stepping back up to 7f, this might be the time to catch him. Heretic scored on his handicap debut for Hugo Palmer when last seen in January 2023 and is interesting on his return.

EMBARKED did best of those who had raced up with the strong pace when successful over C&D 18 days ago and a 3 lb rise should see him competitive again. Forever A Diamond and Grant Tuer's pair Bicep and Highland Olly are others to consider. Heretic on belated return for his new yard also commands a market check for positive vibes.

Tricky. Embarked and Airshow are shortlisted but today's return to 7f and Southwell could enable BICEP to emerge on top.

19:45 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 4) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

More positive tactics saw triple Chelmsford scorer Crimson Sand regain the winning thread over C&D on Saturday and another bold attempt is forecast. However, a 5lb penalty may be enough to catch the six-year-old out and preference is for the lightly-raced LION'S HOUSE. Roger Varian's gelding offered plenty to work with when sixth on his reappearance at Wolverhampton earlier this month and improvement looks forthcoming. Cajetan is also noted reverting to 6f on the all-weather.

There was more promise from DORNEY LAKE at York last time and he might prove the answer to this quite useful handicap. Fellow 3-y-os Lion's House and Cajetan likely have their best days ahead of them, while last weekend's C&D winner Crimson Sand is also respected under a penalty.

Several runners are interesting. First choice is DORNEY LAKE, ahead of Change For Good and Lion's House.

Pretty solid sequence; over a year since he raced at this far but he won over 1m6f in 2022.

20:00 Southwell Handicap (Class 4) 14f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

SONNERIE POWER has shaped with plenty of promise in second on his last three starts and, stepping back up to 1m6f, the son of Almanzor gets the nod to return to winning ways. Le Rouge Chinois was last seen finishing second behind an in-form rival over this trip at Chelmsford last month and a 1lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold bid. The class-dropping Kitsune Power completes the shortlist.

This step back up in trip will suit CAUSTIC, who found things happening too quickly over 1¼m at Epsom last time and he gets the nod in this open-looking handicap. Boldly may well emerge as the main danger, provided he responds positively to the first-time blinkers, while Sharp Distinction is just about third choice ahead of Sonnerie Power, who has been knocking on the door of late.

Each-way cases can be made for all of them. A chance is taken on two of the less exposed candidates in CAUSTIC and St Pancras.

20:15 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SMOOTH SILESIE lost little in defeat when runner-up at Wolverhampton last time out and she can continue her progression. Lisa Williamson's filly is only 1lb higher in the ratings and compensation could be on the cards. The reapplication of a visor should see an improved bid from Merrimack and he may give the selection most to think about, ahead of Cabeza De Llave.

DARK SIDE PRINCE has dropped back to the mark he defied here in May and might prove the answer to this concluding sprint. Pop Dancer is on a good mark and is second choice ahead of Smooth Silesie, who has stood up really well to a busy campaign.

The four C&D winners have possibilities. IDLE ASSEMBLY and Merrimack are interesting alternatives.

20:30 Southwell Handicap (Class 6) 11f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

CARAMAY (first) was doing her best work late on when getting the better of Storm Asset (second) over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton last month and, although the latter is 2lb better off at the weights this time, it is hard to envisage him reversing that form over this longer trip. Bay Of Naples wasn't disgraced when finishing fourth over 1m4f at Dunstall Park last time out and must also enter calculations.

Though below par of late, CHAGALL could be worth chancing in this wide-open contest. He is now 7 lb below his last winning mark and shades preference ahead of My Brother Mike and Storm Asset. Last-time-out Wolverhampton scorer Caramay has more on his plate here and is probably worth taking on this time.

Caramay has a major chance. Plenty of others bring each-way interest, however, and BOND SPIRIT is narrowly preferred.
