7/2(-17%) | (1) Dan's Chosen 7/2, Is enjoying a good season and twice a winner at Newton Abbot. Posted another good effort when third at Exeter (19.2f, good) 14 days ago so he must enter calculations. Out of form for much of 2023 but also won at Newton Abbot (2m5f, good) in July/September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/2 +50%) Striking Out |
5/2(+50%) | (4) Striking Out 5/2, Fair chaser at his best but has lost his way. Gone close over C&D and a market move would be interesting. Two 2nds started chase career; not near that level since but has dropped down weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (25/1 +24%) Caro Des Flos |
25/1(+24%) | (8) Caro Des Flos 25/1, Extended his losing sequence to 14 when fourth of 9 in handicap chase at Worcester (20f, good) 145 days ago, going too freely in blinkers. 5 lb out of the handicap too. Off since June; has his work cut out on 2023 form, especially from 5lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/2 +10%) On The Platform |
9/2(+10%) | (5) On The Platform 9/2, It's now eleven runs since his last win in 2021 but he signed off for John Groucott with a good second of 9 in handicap chase at Bangor (24f, good to firm) 6 months ago. Not ruled out for new yard with cheekpieces on 1st time. 0-11 over fences but there have been five seconds; left John Groucott; first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (16/1 -45%) Bitasweetsymphony |
16/1(-45%) | (6) Bitasweetsymphony 16/1, Fair 2m4f chase winner but pulled up in handicap chase at Bangor (20.3f, soft) 22 days ago. Needs to rediscover his verve. Placed twice early 2023 but pulled up on final start last season and same on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (14/1 -211%) Dindin |
14/1(-211%) | (2) Dindin 14/1, Scored at Worcester in June and got back on track when second of 8 in handicap chase at Bangor (24f, soft) 22 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. British strike-rate improved no end over the last 13 months; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (4/1 -14%) Family Pot |
4/1(-14%) | (3) Family Pot 4/1, Resumed from 6 months off with a solid third of 7 in handicap chase at Hereford (20.9f, good to firm) 9 days ago. Took this 12 months ago so he has to be taken seriously off an unchanged mark. Won this race last year and twice in February; has run creditably on good to soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (14/1 +0%) Talkingthetalk |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Talkingthetalk 14/1, Unreliable type who scored at Uttoxeter in September but failed to back it up when a remote fourth at Hereford (25.2f, good to firm) 9 days ago. Others appeal more. Two small-field wins at Uttoxeter are way in advance of her other performances this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (66/1 -100%) Mix Master |
66/1(-100%) | (9) Mix Master 66/1, Poor maiden hurdler/chaser who was pulled up in handicap chase at Warwick (20f, good) 148 days ago. Very hard to warm to from 11 lb out of the handicap. Very lightly raced, with a whiff of ability but tough task from 11lb out of the handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A tricky puzzle to solve and a tentative nod goes in the direction of the evergreen DINDIN, who ran well when second over 3m at Bangor last time and can go one better. David Pipe's runner was well clear of the rest on that occasion and can make his presence felt off the same mark. On The Platform rates as the biggest danger after his own second at Bangor, while this extra yardage could suit Dan's Chosen.
FAMILY POT captured this prize a year ago and teed himself up well for a repeat when a returning third at Hereford so looks the way to go. Dan's Chosen is feared most in his bid to bag a third success of 2023, with Dindin and On The Platform both worthy of consideration too.
Last year's winner FAMILY POT may repeat the dose. He has enough form on good to soft to make appeal. Striking Out is feared most.

1st (2) (5/2 -25%) Christian David |
5/2(-25%) | (2) Christian David 5/2, Much improved from debut albeit still in need of experience when third of 8 in maiden (18/1) at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) 19 days ago, every chance well inside final 1f. Back on all-weather and is open to further progress. Close third at Newmarket last time; major form contender back on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/8 +50%) Joycean Way |
11/8(+50%) | (4) Joycean Way 11/8, 10/3, clearly learnt plenty from debut and showed improved form when fifth of 10 in minor event at Salisbury (8f, heavy) 3 weeks ago. Open to further progress and good shout here. Shaped last time as if this drop back to 7f will suit; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +14%) Veiled Illusion |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Veiled Illusion 3/1, Improved to get off the mark in 12-runner minor event at this C&D (AW, 10/3) 3 weeks ago. Fancied to feature again under a penalty. Justified favouritism with 1l win over C&D three weeks ago; respected under 4lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (33/1 +34%) Sun God |
33/1(+34%) | (5) Sun God 33/1, Showed a bit but was green when last of 10 in minor event at Sandown (7f, heavy, 33/1) on debut 3 months ago. Absent since inauspicious debut in heavy-ground event in August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (66/1 -65%) Scottie's Sister |
66/1(-65%) | (7) Scottie's Sister 66/1, Twice-raced maiden. 150/1, sixth of 7 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Soundly beaten in 7f maidens at Newmarket. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
VEILED ILLUSION justified strong support in the betting when landing a novice over C&D three weeks ago and staying at this sort of level could be a good move as he bids for a quick-fire brace of wins. Christian David looks the pick of Richard Hannon's three entrants and is an obvious threat contender based on his game third-placed finish in a decent Newmarket maiden 19 days ago. Joycean Way is also considered, given he is open to improvement now dropped in trip.
This can go to JOYCEAN WAY, who took a step forward from his debut when mid-field at Salisbury 3 weeks ago and with further progress on the cards, Roger Varian's colt can make a winning start on the all-weather. Christian David went close at Newmarket earlier this month and he could be the one to give the selection most to think about, ahead of the penalised Veiled Illusion.
Having scored over C&D three weeks ago, VEILED ILLUSION holds solid claims under a small penalty. Christian David is second choice.

1st (3) (3/1 -84%) Croke Park |
3/1(-84%) | (3) Croke Park 3/1, £400,000 4-y-o, Walk In The Park gelding. Winning pointer who made an encouraging start under Rules when second of 16 in bumper at Kilbeggan (16f, good to soft, 13/8) back in May. The winner that day has gone in again since and he's high on the shortlist on hurdles bow. Bumper runner-up very likely to be more suited by obstacles and a leading contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (12/1 -50%) Chiefs Kingdom |
12/1(-50%) | (2) Chiefs Kingdom 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, shaped as if still in decent heart for much of the way when seventh of 14 in maiden hurdle at Wexford (20.7f, good to soft) back in July. Sets the bar of those with hurdling experience. Unproven on ground like this but the stable are in good form and comes into calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (4.5/1 +36%) Talk In The Park |
4.5/1(+36%) | (8) Talk In The Park 4.5/1, Promising type. Shaped like a stayer on what was effectively his hurdling debut when second of 9 in maiden at Downpatrick (17.8f, soft, 9/2) 20 days ago. May well do better. More needed for him to be a factor here although seems to act on the ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (25/1 +0%) Glenmalure Flyer |
25/1(+0%) | (11) Glenmalure Flyer 25/1, 25/1, went backwards from debut when fifteenth of 22 in maiden hurdle at Punchestown (16f, heavy) 8 months ago. Tongue strap on 1st time and needs keeping a close eye on in the betting given connections. Not seen since January but the stable is in good form; tried in a tongue-tie here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (150/1 -88%) Knocknaconnery |
150/1(-88%) | (5) Knocknaconnery 150/1, Seventh of 9 in bumper at Navan (15.8f, soft, 50/1) on debut 9 months ago. Makes hurdles debut. First run for yard after leaving P. F. McEnery. Has joined Sam Curling having had one nondescript bumper run; up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (100/1 -150%) Grow As You Go |
100/1(-150%) | (4) Grow As You Go 100/1, Fourth of 7 in bumper (28/1) at this course (16.4f, heavy) on debut just under 2 years ago. Best watched on hurdles debut after such a lengthy absence. Fourth of seven in a bumper here two years ago; likely to need this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (300/1 -20%) Restless Son |
300/1(-20%) | (6) Restless Son 300/1, Well held in pair of maiden hurdles. Soundly beaten in two maiden hurdles and makes no appeal in this company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (100/1 -25%) The Empty Kettel |
100/1(-25%) | (10) The Empty Kettel 100/1, Showed ability but was well positioned when fourth on hurdles bow at Tramore but was well held at Listowel (24f, good to soft) since. Significantly down in trip. Tongue strap on 1st time. Not at his best stepped up to 3m at Listowel; tongue-tie tried here but has it to do. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
It would be no surprise if THE ELECTRICAL KID was good enough to make a winning start for Willie Mullins. The Malinas gelding was runner-up in a point-to-point back in November 2021 before being picked up for 95,000 pounds at the sales the following month. The horse that he chased home in that point was Inthepocket, a Grade 1 winner for Henry de Bromhead at Aintree in April. Croke Park was beaten favourite on his 'track' debut in a Kilbeggan bumper back in May. He may improve for going jumping now but needs to step up on that showing. Talk In The Park was beaten a fair way when second to Yeats Star at Downpatrick earlier in the month but could reach the frame again.
THE ELECTRICAL KID was runner-up on his sole start in points a couple of years ago and he's fancied to go one better on Rules debut for Willie Mullins. Croke Park finished runner-up in a Kilbeggan bumper back in May, so he's put forward as the main danger starting out over timber, while Chiefs Kingdom sets the standard of those with hurdling experience and can battle out third spot with Glenmalure Flyer.
The one to beat is THE ELECTRICAL KID, second to a Grade 1-winning novice hurdler in his sole point-to-point

8/13(-72%) | (10) Mellificent 8/13, Second in Fairyhouse bumper for Lorna Fowler and bought for €150,000 before stylish winner of Uttoxeter bumper in October. Not disgraced given an inadequate stamina test when sixth at Market Rasen last time so she's not dismissed. Showed ability in her three bumpers, winning one; now tongue tied; could have fine chance. |

3rd (3) (50/1 +38%) Largy Train |
50/1(+38%) | (3) Largy Train 50/1, Made a winning debut in bumper for Stuart Crawford in May 2021 but has gone the wrong way since, pulled up all three starts for current yard. Won bumper for S Crawford; one run for Paul Nicholls and pulled up in three for this yard. |

10/3(+26%) | (6) Tom Cody 10/3, Racked up a 4-timer between the flags and sound effort on hunter debut when third at Hexham 17 months ago. Tasted success in points since, so not ruled out. 5-12 in points; bit of ability in maiden hunter chase at Hexham in 2022; new yard. |

|PU| (1) (250/1 -150%) Grand Mario |
250/1(-150%) | (1) Grand Mario 250/1, Yet to show any ability. Soundly beaten in two bumpers and two maiden hurdles; 553-day absence before 4 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
This can go the way of MELLIFICENT, who was last seen in a Listed bumper at Market Rasen in February, which has worked out very well since. Jonjo O'Neill's charge is better judged on her penultimate effort at Uttoxeter and the step up in trip looks a big plus on her hurdles bow. Tom Cody is one to note for market support on his first run for new connections, while Tommy Johnson rates best of the rest.
MELLIFICENT looked above average in bumpers and there's no reason to think she won't take to hurdling, so she's an obvious choice in a thin race. One of the newcomers, Tommy Johnson and/or Icouldn'tpassherby, may be able to capitalise if the selection doesn't come up to expectations.
The extreme lack of form in this line-up suggests a win is likely for MELLIFICENT, who scored in one of her three bumpers.

1st (16) (11/2 +21%) Wyenot |
11/2(+21%) | (16) Wyenot 11/2, Closely related to useful chaser Everlastingpromise and she shaped well when third of 11 in bumper at Southwell (15.8f, soft) on NH debut. Off 6 months and in the mix on her hurdles debut. Interesting on pedigree and after her bumper 3rd at Southwell (2m, good to soft) in April. |

2nd (12) (7/4 -7%) Norman Fletcher |
7/4(-7%) | (12) Norman Fletcher 7/4, Made it 2 wins from 4 starts in bumpers with an improved effort at Ludlow in April. 1/4, close up when fell 3 out in novice at Huntingdon (15.8f, good) on hurdles bow 9 days ago. Should have more to offer. Won two of his bumpers but jumping was a big problem on recent hurdle debut (at 1-4). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (12/1 +14%) Classic Lord |
12/1(+14%) | (3) Classic Lord 12/1, Useful on Flat and fourth in a maiden hurdle at Naas in February. Not in same form at Fairyhouse on final outing and subsequently sold out of Henry de Bromhead's yard for £29,000. Can build on his yard debut when seventh at Worcester 27 days ago so one to consider. Plenty of ability at some stages but well beaten at 66-1 for new yard at Worcester (2m4f). |

4th (7) (33/1 -65%) I Got Stung |
33/1(-65%) | (7) I Got Stung 33/1, Off 6 months before fading fifth of 6 in novice hurdle at Worcester (16f, soft, 10/1) 14 days ago. Can build on it now. Some promise in his one bumper but beaten about 30l in two 2m novice hurdles. |

5th (6) (150/1 -127%) Gentle Victor |
150/1(-127%) | (6) Gentle Victor 150/1, 50/1, seventh of 11 in bumper at Newcastle (16.9f, good) on NH debut 163 days ago. Needs to step forward on his hurdles debut. 50-1, well beaten in a bumper at Newcastle (2m1f, good) in May; stable runs two. |

6th (13) (10/1 +0%) Lady Caro |
10/1(+0%) | (13) Lady Caro 10/1, Fair form shown in three bumpers, sixth of 11 at Fakenham (16f, soft) 6 months ago. Not ruled out on her hurdles debut. Ran in three bumpers last season, showing some ability on last two occasions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (5/1 -11%) Damarta |
5/1(-11%) | (4) Damarta 5/1, Carried over his headstrong tendencies from bumpers but still caught the eye when just failing to snatch third on hurdling debut here (16.8f) in May. Still in need of the experience when fifth on his recent return at Newton Abbot and remains with potential. Player. Races freely, so there are issues there as well as significant ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (12/1 +25%) Bitsnbuckles |
12/1(+25%) | (2) Bitsnbuckles 12/1, Runner-up in a point before coming in eighth of 15 in bumper at Tipperary (18f, heavy, 9/1) 175 days ago. Makes hurdles debut and needs considering for his new yard. 2nd in Irish point; remote when 9-1 in a Tipperary bumper; sold for £25,000 in May. |

|F| (8) (100/1 +0%) My Monty |
100/1(+0%) | (8) My Monty 100/1, Showed a bit more than previously in a first-time tongue strap when fourth of 9 at Stratford (16.3f, heavy) on final outing in bumpers. Off 6 months and needs to improve on hurdle debut. Latest start (April) was better but none of that bumper form is persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (80/1 -627%) I Look How I Look |
80/1(-627%) | (14) I Look How I Look 80/1, Sister to useful hurdler/high-class chaser Nube Negra but only modest form shown thus far in bumpers at Stratford and Ludlow. Could do better with the benefit of experience though. Sister to stable's high-class chaser Nube Negra; bumper form is underwhelming. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (28/1 +30%) Deadlock |
28/1(+30%) | (9) Deadlock 28/1, Fair form on Flat but he came in last of 4 in novice hurdle at Aintree (20f, good, 28/1) on NH debut 160 days ago. Down in trip with a big step forward required. 28-1, last of four at Aintree (2m4f, good) in May showed some ability, as did Flat runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (250/1 -400%) Ballyrashane |
250/1(-400%) | (1) Ballyrashane 250/1, Off the mark at the fifth time of asking in Irish points in November but he hasn't shown much in 3 starts under Rules to date. Probably more one for handicaps later on. Won a two-runner Irish point last November but poor form in his three hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (250/1 -150%) Larkin |
250/1(-150%) | (11) Larkin 250/1, Fair handicapper on Flat who won at Ffos Las in August. Bought from Tom Dascombe's yard for 5,500 gns after coming in last at Wolverhampton in October. Goes hurdling now with a bit to prove. Fair Flat form at best (1m win) in 2022; left Tom Dascombe for 5,500gns that October. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
This contest seems to revolve around the performance of NORMAN FLETCHER, who looked a useful type in bumpers before letting himself down in the jumping stakes on his hurdles debut at Huntingdon nine days ago. Nigel Twiston-Davies' runner didn't jump at all well before falling three out that day but he should know more for the experience and, having been sent off a long odds-on shot that day, compensation could await. Lady Caro and Wyenot are the dangers.
DAMARTA is fancied to take a step forward from his reappearance Newton Abbot fifth when still looking in need of the experience and get off the mark in an open maiden hurdle. Winning Irish pointer Dusautior brings potential and is next on the list on his hurdling debut, although a case can also be made for Norman Fletcher, Classic Lord and I Look How I Look in a competitive event.
Norman Fletcher might be given another chance but WYENOT looks set for better things following her run in a bumper in April.

2nd (3) (18/1 -13%) Fidelius |
18/1(-13%) | (3) Fidelius 18/1, Useful sprint pedigree. Third of 5 in maiden at Brighton (5.3f, good, 8/1) on debut 53 days ago. Out of a winning sprinter for his stable; duly showed ability at Brighton on debut. |

3rd (6) (12/1 +25%) Gloves |
12/1(+25%) | (6) Gloves 12/1, Twice-raced filly. 8/1 and hooded for 1st time, fourth of 9 in minor event at Newcastle (5f) 13 days ago, still looking green at stages. Could improve again. Could well take another step forward, being half-sister to two winners for her yard. |

4th (1) (8/1 +43%) Cast No Shadow |
8/1(+43%) | (1) Cast No Shadow 8/1, 34,000 gns foal, £30,000 2-y-o, Ardad colt. Half-brother to several winners, including 11f winner Hard To Fault and 6f-1m winner Silk Cravat. 11/2, sixth of 7 in maiden at Ripon (5f, good to soft) on debut, not ideally placed. Off 96 days. Should progress. Modest effort on soft ground three months ago; may do better on this surface. |

5th (7) (18/1 -50%) Our Melody |
18/1(-50%) | (7) Our Melody 18/1, Blue Point filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including smart 6f-1m winner Excel Power and useful winner up to 7f Caspian Queen. Eighth of 11 at Newcastle (6f, gambled-on 5/4) on debut 37 days ago. Clearly thought capable of better. Disappointing favourite in 6f contest at Newcastle but may benefit from this drop in trip. |

125/1(-89%) | (8) Tomshalfsister 125/1, Twice-raced filly. Seventh of 9 at this C&D (AW, 40/1) 50 days ago. Should be more interesting in handicaps shortly. |

7th (9) (12/1 -85%) Vanity Pays |
12/1(-85%) | (9) Vanity Pays 12/1, Fair filly. Remains a maiden after 7 Flat runs. 13/2, sixth of 9 in minor event at Dundalk (5f) 34 days ago. First run for yard after leaving P. Twomey. Needs to bounce back for switch of yards. 0-7 but holds a fighting chance on her best Irish form; debut for new stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
An official rating of 82 makes NAZRON a solid option back in a maiden and, given he went down by only a neck to a rival who was probably allowed too much leeway on the front end over C&D last month, David Egan is unlikely to be taking any such chances with his mount today. Jungle Jim is a potential improver on his all-weather debut, while Fidelius is entitled to be wiser after a near-miss on his racecourse bow at Brighton last month.
NAZRON took another step forward when going close over C&D on his nursery debut last month and could be hard to beat in this maiden. Jungle Jim has a race like this in him, while much better was expected from Our Melody on her debut and she could show more here.
One more chance is given to NAZRON, who has proved expensive to follow but nearly made a winning AW debut here last month.

3/1(-71%) | (11) Mount Sinai 3/1, Ran to a similar level as on debut when third of 9 in bumper at Listowel (16f, soft, 5/2) 34 days ago. Makes hurdles debut and should have plenty to offer now upped in trip. Unproven on the ground but the step up in trip looks likely to suit and a big player here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (13/8 +46%) Roccos Inspiration |
13/8(+46%) | (12) Roccos Inspiration 13/8, 9/2, looked rusty after 5 months off faced with an inadequate test when third of 11 in maiden hurdle at Thurles (15.9f, soft) 7 days ago, running on. Back up in trip. Good effort over a short trip at Thurles last week after five months off; should go close. |

3rd (9) (10/3 +26%) Lucky Viv |
10/3(+26%) | (9) Lucky Viv 10/3, Fair hurdler. Wasn't seen to best effect when fourth of 14 in maiden hurdle (5/1) at Tramore (20.3f, heavy) 2 weeks ago, keeping on when untidy last having been set plenty to do. 200/1(+0%) | (17) Western Summer 200/1, Pulled up on both starts in points. 40/1, looked a tricky ride when seventh of 8 in bumper at Kilbeggan (19f, good) on NH debut 48 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Pulled up in both her points and was tailed off in a Kilbeggan bumper; looks limited. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MOUNT SINAI can make a winning start over jumps. The Mount Nelson mare has been placed on both her outings in bumpers and this looks like a nice starting point for her over timber. She is a half-sister to a decent sort in Seabank Bistro. Roccos Inspiration sets the standard off a mark of 108 and has plenty of solid placed form, including when third at Thurles a week ago. Lucky Viv has a similar profile and is rated just a pound lower by the handicapper.
A case of quantity over quality here and having finished third on both starts in bumpers recently, MOUNT SINAI is selected to make a winning hurdling debut stepped up in trip for Willie Mullins. Roccos Inspiration has had plenty of attempts to get off the mark, but she may emerge as the main threat with a recent outing under her belt, ahead of Lucky Viv and Instant Tendance.
This could be the opportunity for ROCCOS INSPIRATION (nap) to gain an overdue success after a good run over too short a trip at Thurles

1st (15) (9/2 +59%) Hello Judge |
9/2(+59%) | (15) Hello Judge 9/2, Winning hurdler but has been far more miss than hit over fences. Should strip fitter for his third at Hexham earlier in the month and he's on a feasible mark. Rallied for fair third at Hexham recently and could benefit from this step back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (40/1 -150%) Twoshotsoftequila |
40/1(-150%) | (3) Twoshotsoftequila 40/1, Gained reward for consistency when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Doncaster (3m, good) in March. Didn't fire subsequently but could get back on track after 5 months off. Disappointing on final two runs last term but looked a 6yo to follow when winning in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/1 -22%) Mulberry Hill |
11/1(-22%) | (5) Mulberry Hill 11/1, Fair handicap hurdler who was in the process of running well when departing on chasing debut at Ludlow in May. Shaped quite well back hurdling at Market Rasen on completed start since and deserves respect after a break. Won over hurdles here last October on her only visit to Carlisle; capable of a bold show. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (14/1 -40%) Jet Legs |
14/1(-40%) | (8) Jet Legs 14/1, Going the right way over hurdles towards the end of last season, completing a double at Kelso 7 months ago. Liable to need the run on chasing debut, however. Won final two hurdle starts in March and could have a bright future over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (25/1 -108%) Cardamon Hill |
25/1(-108%) | (6) Cardamon Hill 25/1, First run since leaving Gordon Elliott when third of 4 in handicap chase at Cartmel two months ago. Back up in trip, but has work to do from this mark. Encouraging run on stable debut at Cartmel & that form has worked out well; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (3/1 +40%) Readysteadybeau |
3/1(+40%) | (7) Readysteadybeau 3/1, Overcame mistakes to get off at the fourth attempt over fences at Ayr (21.5f) in February and bounced back from a fall to run out a dominant winner at Perth 6 months ago. Can add to his tally if his jumping holds up. Won two of his final three starts last season and he's one to consider on his reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (4/1 +0%) Jipcot |
4/1(+0%) | (10) Jipcot 4/1, Showed fairly useful form over hurdles when landing a pair of events at Pau in February, including a listed race (17.4f). Has failed to match that form in Britain but worth monitoring in the betting down in grade after 6 months off. Well beaten in Grade 1 juvenile hurdles but wind op since and has 10lb 4yo allowance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (12/1 -20%) Captain Quint |
12/1(-20%) | (1) Captain Quint 12/1, Won on chase debut at Hexham in November and added to that in a match at Ayr in March. Didn't fire subsequently but likely to be well prepared for this return. Below par in April but plenty of solid form last season and he goes well fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (11/1 +31%) Heritier |
11/1(+31%) | (11) Heritier 11/1, Registered third chase win in 3-runner contest at Market Rasen in November. Ended season in tame fashion but a break will doubtless have done him some good. Return to form needed but runs off last winning mark and stable is going well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) (40/1 -100%) Mister Bells |
40/1(-100%) | (13) Mister Bells 40/1, Hard to catch right but he did win at Market Rasen in March. Failed to beat a rival on return at Kelso last month, however might strip fitter for it. Of interest on best efforts in the spring and he could improve for last month's comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (50/1 -213%) Uptown Harry |
50/1(-213%) | (12) Uptown Harry 50/1, Ridden positively and took full advantage of a drop in the weights when landing 9-runner handicap chase over C&D in March. 3 lb rise looks manageable and he's a player again after 7-month break. Won over C&D in March; might need this reappearance run; wins have come on soft/heavy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (11/1 -38%) High Moon |
11/1(-38%) | (2) High Moon 11/1, Fairly useful hurdles winner who was in good form over fences towards the end of last season, scoring in determined fashion at Newcastle 6 months ago. Should give a good account on return. Consistent novice chase campaign and won when last seen; testing ground may suit best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (22/1 -57%) Son Of The Somme |
22/1(-57%) | (4) Son Of The Somme 22/1, Steadily progressive hurdler and similar story over fences for much of last season. Signed off with a lesser run at Doncaster but not ruled out back from 7 months off. Tailed off in March but in good form otherwise last season and could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (40/1 -122%) Breaking The Ice |
40/1(-122%) | (14) Breaking The Ice 40/1, Fair handicap chaser who has been operating below best lately and found this test on the sharp side at Hexham last time. Others more persuasive. Below last winning mark and fair fourth at Hexham recently, but needs something extra here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (50/1 -100%) The Ferry Master |
50/1(-100%) | (9) The Ferry Master 50/1, Finally took advantage of a plummeting mark under an inspired ride at Kelso in May but pulled up at Perth next time. Off 4 months since but others make more appeal. Won at Kelso in May but this 10yo has a patchy profile nowadays. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
READYSTEADYBEAU was getting the hang of things over fences towards the end of last season and he can start this campaign on the right note. A mark of 114 still looks manageable and, with conditions in his favour, he should have too much for chase debutants Jet Legs and Jipcot, as well as Mulberry Hill, who was very unlucky when falling two out at Ludlow when last seen over fences in May.
READYSTEADYBEAU boasts a positive profile over fences and had plenty in hand when scoring at Perth when last seen, so he's the obvious choice for a stable that continues in tremendous form. High Moon and Mulberry Hill are feared.
The mare MULBERRY HILL won over hurdles here last October on her sole previous visit to Carlisle and she earns the vote.

Tongue strap on for first time. Third of six on bumper debut in May; needs a big step forward here. |

4th (8) (5/2 +44%) Adjuvant |
5/2(+44%) | (8) Adjuvant 5/2, Useful Flat winner at up to 14f. Rare jumps performer for Michael Bell and will be a danger to all if taking to this discipline. Very useful Flat stayer with 4-18 strike-rate; fascinating recruit to hurdling. |

5th (4) (15/8 +0%) Ittack Blue |
15/8(+0%) | (4) Ittack Blue 15/8, 310,000 gns purchase after winning a point in Ireland and made an encouraging start over hurdles at Newbury in November. Below that level when last seen in Exeter listed race in February but had a wind operation since and clearly sets the standard on form. Impressive Irish point winner; placed over hurdles last season; retains huge potential. |

6th (5) (150/1 -50%) Myfanwy's Magic |
150/1(-50%) | (5) Myfanwy's Magic 150/1, No real impact in a couple of bumpers earlier this year. Off 6 months ahead of his hurdles debut with work to do. Midfield in Exeter bumper in April; faces tall order on hurdling debut. |

This looks much more competitive, though. Placed in run-of-the-mill mares' maiden on hurdling debut; this is much tougher. |

9th (9) (40/1 -233%) Getaway Glory |
40/1(-233%) | (9) Getaway Glory 40/1, €17,000 3-y-o, £40,000 4-y-o, Getaway gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/chase winner Vintage Fizz and point/bumper winner Fameaftertheglory. Won only start in Irish points in April and rates an interesting Rules debutant for respected yard. Bought for £40,000 after winning Irish point debut in April; may need further than 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (150/1 -275%) Chantilly Rose |
150/1(-275%) | (14) Chantilly Rose 150/1, Showed ability when third in a Southwell bumper on debut for Peter Niven but no better than mid-division either outing over hurdles for new connections. Placed in a bumper in spring 2022 but safely held on both hurdling starts this autumn. |

200/1(-203%) | (3) Exclusive Getaway 200/1, Sent off a big price and finished well beaten in novice at Bangor (16.7f, soft) on hurdles bow 22 days ago. Struggled when 100-1 for recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (150/1 -838%) Present De Vango |
150/1(-838%) | (6) Present De Vango 150/1, Shaped like a stayer when fifth in a Market Rasen bumper on NH debut in March and it's been a similar story both starts over hurdles. Looks one for handicaps over longer trips. Fifth of eight on all three starts under rules in a bumper and two maiden hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) (200/1 -100%) James Baie |
200/1(-100%) | (10) James Baie 200/1, Unplaced sole outing in points and showed only modest form in a pair of bumpers for Harriet Dickin. Needs a big step forward on hurdle/yard debut. Minor promise in two spring bumpers; looks up against it on stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (7) (250/1 -67%) Yogi's Trail |
250/1(-67%) | (7) Yogi's Trail 250/1, Finished last of 8 in bumper at Worcester on NH debut last month. Since joined new yard and can only be watched on hurdles bow. Hooded for first time. Always behind when 33-1 for Worcester bumper last month. |

|PU| (16) (500/1 -150%) Ballet Blanc |
500/1(-150%) | (16) Ballet Blanc 500/1, Modest maiden on Flat and largely below form in that sphere this year. Makes little appeal on jumps debut. Lowly rated Flat maiden; makes no appeal on hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CHOCCABLOC has made a very pleasing start to his career having not finished outside of the first three home in each of his three starts in bumpers, winning once, and he can get off the mark at the first time of asking over timber. Ittack Blue is feared most dropped back into these calmer waters after struggling in Listed company at Exeter in February, while Adjuvant is also noted.
ITTACK BLUE was disappointing on his second start last term but had looked a useful prospect at Newbury previously and is taken to make a winning return. There are plenty of interesting hurdles debutants in opposition with bumper winner Choccabloc and useful Flat performer Adjuvant catching the eye most.
Impressive point winner ITTACK BLUE made an unspectacular start to his rules career last season but is open to huge improvement.

7th (8) (66/1 -200%) Puffable |
66/1(-200%) | (8) Puffable 66/1, Fair handicapper who has finished down the field last 5 starts, though wasn't seen to best effect having been hampered early last time. Bits of form bring her into it off reduced mark, but not without risk back up in grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This can go the way of ROSE KING, who wasn't beaten far at Redcar last time out and remains unexposed after just five career starts. The three-year-old has won twice on the all-weather before and he is preferred to the likes of Level Up, who has strong clams if bouncing back to the form of his penultimate effort at Bath, and Reigning Profit.
LEVEL UP has had a fine season and appeals as the type to bounce back quickly from a below-par display at Leicester now returned to all-weather, so he earns the vote. Rose King is easily the least exposed in the field, so warrants respect, as does Paddy's Day, who's dropped to a handy mark and was unlucky not to finish closer at Redcar on his most recent outing.
This may be fought out by ROSE KING and Paddy's Day with the unexposed selection taken to confirm his Redcar superiority.

1st (5) (5/1 -100%) Castle Field Boy |
5/1(-100%) | (5) Castle Field Boy 5/1, 11/4, career best when winning 18-runner novice hurdle at Tipperary (20.2f, soft), responding well. Off 6 months. Leading claims. Tipperary maiden winner when last seen in April; unexposed entering handicaps. |

6.5/1(-30%) | (2) Whatsavailable 6.5/1, Below form ninth of 15 in handicap hurdle (22/1) at Bellewstown (20.4f, good) 57 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Trip stretches him but down to last winning mark and cheekpieces tried. |

3rd (3) (12/1 -33%) Street Value |
12/1(-33%) | (3) Street Value 12/1, Course winner. Fell in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (24.6f, soft, 22/1) joined when fell heavily last, looking sure to be placed at the time of his exit. Off 6 months and switches from chase to hurdles. Tongue strap back on. Has his ground here but record fresh isn't great so may need this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5.5/1 +54%) The Little Yank |
5.5/1(+54%) | (4) The Little Yank 5.5/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. 12/1, ninth of 12 in handicap chase at Limerick (24f, heavy) 4 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles and he could have a part to play. Six-time winner though not over this far and in such testing conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (14/1 -155%) Robinstown |
14/1(-155%) | (1) Robinstown 14/1, C&D winner. Seventh of 8 in handicap chase at Listowel (24f, soft, 10/1) 33 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Has good chance on pick of form. Last year's winner in similar conditions hasn't won since; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (3/1 +40%) Storm Mahler |
3/1(+40%) | (7) Storm Mahler 3/1, Latest win in hurdle at Ballinrobe in August. Twelfth of 13 in handicap hurdle (9/1) at Listowel (20f, soft) 38 days ago. Back up in trip and current mark looks a tough one. Progressing nicely until Listowel flop; needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (9/4 +55%) Brianna Lily |
9/4(+55%) | (6) Brianna Lily 9/4, C&D winner. Latest win in hurdle here in September. Respectable tenth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (23f, good, 12/1) 16 days ago. Looks vulnerale for win purposes. Runaway C&D winner last month bombed at Punchestown but remains of interest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BRIANNA LILY handled testing conditions well when scoring over course and distance late last month and may be able to repeat the dose. The Shirocco mare didn't make much impression on better going at Galway last time but back here and on softer ground she may prove the pick. Stablemate Castle Field Boy won a Tipperary maiden hurdle when last seen in April and has handled softer ground. He will be a leading player if stripping fit for his return. The Little Yank has been busy over fences lately and off a lower hurdles mark he could get involved in this small field.
CASTLE FIELD BOY maintained his theme of gradual race-by-race progress when landing a big-field Tipperary maiden last month, and he is likely to prove a tough nut to crack. The Little Yank and Brianna Lily are feared most in that order of preference, while last year's winner Robinstown would be a threat if returning to something close to his best.
Question marks surround many of these and perhaps CASTLE FIELD BOY can making a winning handicap debut

1st (7) (28/1 -100%) Russian Virtue |
28/1(-100%) | (7) Russian Virtue 28/1, Has thrived for this yard, gaining a sixth win since December (4 hurdle, 2 Flat) when seeing off 11 rivals at Perth (2m) in June. Given a break since finishing third there later that month. Prolific since last December; needs further progress to defy this mark, but not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (16/5 +9%) Grain d'Oudairies |
16/5(+9%) | (9) Grain d'Oudairies 16/5, Showed promise in his only bumper and looked a good prospect when making a winning hurdle debut at Bangor last November. Too keen when beaten favourite in a 19f novice here 4 months later but remains capable of better now handicapping back at shorter. Market confidence significant. Unplaced favourite here in April but could prove to be better than his opening mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (13/2 -18%) Thereisnodoubt |
13/2(-18%) | (1) Thereisnodoubt 13/2, Not far off his 11th birthday but he was better than ever when returning from 5 months off to win at Perth (2m, heavy) last month, showing a willing attitude. Suspicion a 4 lb rise may find him out now, though. Won on heavy ground at Perth last month and the slower ground the better his claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (14/1 +0%) Voix Du Reve |
14/1(+0%) | (2) Voix Du Reve 14/1, Smart performer in his prime who capitalised on a drop in the weights in 7-runner handicap hurdle (7/1) at Ayr (20.5f, good) in April. Respectable sixth of 9 at Hexham the following month. Off since. Won at Ayr in April on penultimate start; may need this first outing since May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (25/1 +38%) Malangen |
25/1(+38%) | (11) Malangen 25/1, Landed his fourth win at Perth when successful over 2m in September, gradually getting to the runaway leader. Well-held fourth both outings since and vulnerable to some of the less-exposed sorts in this line-up. Two wins at Perth (2m4f/2m, soft) this season but hasn't shone the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (17/2 +23%) Well Educated |
17/2(+23%) | (8) Well Educated 17/2, Five-time winner last year, including this race off 4 lb higher. Creditable placed efforts at Bangor and Cartmel when last seen in August and likely to be in the shake-up. Won this last year off 4lb higher and capable of having a say if all goes well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 -83%) Golden Glance |
11/1(-83%) | (6) Golden Glance 11/1, Fair maiden on Flat for the Crisfords and opened her account over hurdles for current yard in 19f Haydock novice in April. Good seventh on her handicap debut at Cheltenham (17f, good) later that month and returns from a break with her stable in form. Didn't really threaten in sole h'cap but unexposed and returns with yard in excellent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (8/1 -14%) Holly |
8/1(-14%) | (4) Holly 8/1, Triple French bumper winner who landed a novice hurdle at Wincanton in 2021. Not seen again until a quite encouraging third on 2m Chepstow handicap debut last autumn. Disappointing at Exeter next time and off for a further 11 months. Possibly not easiest to train but retains potential. Absent since below-par run at Exeter last November but lightly raced and retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (40/1 -82%) Jante Law |
40/1(-82%) | (3) Jante Law 40/1, Lightly-raced sort who won a pair of 2m Hexham novice hurdles in spring 2021. Not seen again until unseating early in a 2m Wetherby handicap in March 2022. Off a further 19 months. Betting probably the best guide to what's anticipated. Very lightly raced 7yo who has shown considerable promise but has hefty absence to defy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (5/2 +29%) Gardener |
5/2(+29%) | (5) Gardener 5/2, Fairly useful in bumpers in Ireland and struck at the second time of asking over hurdles in Leicester novice last Christmas. Bit disappointing when only fourth on Hereford handicap debut (2m, good to soft) in January but it's still early days. Off for 8 months. Considered. Only fourth on sole handicap start but he's very lightly raced and improvement is possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (33/1 -65%) Moonlight Glory |
33/1(-65%) | (10) Moonlight Glory 33/1, Gained reward for consistency when winning 6-runner Hexham handicap (good to soft, 10/3) in May and shaped as if in good form still when fifth there 10 days later. First outing for 5 months. Two wins in the first half of this year and current mark not necessarily beyond her. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Thereisnodoubt made a perfect seasonal debut when scoring at Perth last month and Lucinda Russell's veteran shouldn't be far away now shouldering 4lb more. However, he may prove vulnerable to a less-exposed rival, with GOLDEN GLANCE making most appeal. The four-year-old signed off her last campaign with a respectable seventh in a premier handicap at Cheltenham in April and she merits respect representing a stable in fine form. Gardener and Holly are others to note.
An opening mark of 110 might underestimate GRAIN D'OUDAIRIES as he was a promising winner on his hurdle debut and was too fresh stepping up in trip when beaten at short odds here since. Gardener is another lightly-raced sort who should have his best days ahead of him and is second choice ahead of last year's winner Well Educated.
Grain D'Oudairies could be superior to his opening mark but HOLLY also retains potential and she gets the nod.

1st (3) (12/1 -100%) Neon Moon |
12/1(-100%) | (3) Neon Moon 12/1, Four-time winner over hurdles and took well to fences last season, producing his best effort when runner-up in the Swinley Handicap at Ascot (23.8f) in February. Reportedly struck into when pulled up last time, so he can make his presence felt on his return. Pulled up in April and now 0-7 over fences but Ascot second in February was commendable. |

2nd (5) (4/1 +27%) The Kniphand |
4/1(+27%) | (5) The Kniphand 4/1, Improved model switched to handicaps/upped to 3m over hurdles last season, battling well when gaining a third success at Market Rasen (23f) in March. Needed stronger gallop at Cheltenham the following month and he's an interesting contender switched to chasing. Did very well once upped to 3m and switched to handicap hurdles last season; chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 +0%) Supreme Gift |
5/1(+0%) | (2) Supreme Gift 5/1, Irish point winner who was successful on his first 3 completed starts over hurdles in 2022/23. Wasn't seen to best effect at Haydock in February, but back on track when fourth in handicap at Cheltenham (20.2f) in April and he should be suited by this trip as he goes over fences. Irish point winner in 2021 and 3-6 over hurdles last season; good candidate for chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (15/8 +58%) Hardy Fella |
15/8(+58%) | (4) Hardy Fella 15/8, Bumper winner for Chris Gordon who, after finishing runner-up on each of his first 3 completed starts over hurdles, showed improved form upped in trip when landing handicap at this course (23.8f) in April. Could have more to offer as a stayer as he makes his chase debut. Made all in 3m handicap hurdle in April and can improve again over fences this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (85/40 -70%) Outlaw Peter |
85/40(-70%) | (1) Outlaw Peter 85/40, Developed into a useful hurdler last season, winning 4 times, and made a successful start over fences when beating his sole rival in Newton Abbot novice (21f) a month ago. Firmly on top by the line last time and he can build on that to score again. Developed into useful novice hurdler last season and won a match on recent chasing debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Outlaw Peter beat his sole rival in a match on his chase debut at Newton Abbot and has to be considered on his handicap bow. However, preference is for HARDY FELLA, who went in by a comfortable 12 lengths over the smaller obstacles when last seen here in April, and he can make a winning start over fences off a handy mark. Supreme Gift warrants a market check too.
A four-time winner over hurdles, OUTLAW PETER added to his tally on his first start over fences at Newton Abbot last month, despite the steadily-run nature of the race, and he can go on to better things as a chaser. The 7-y-o is taken to get the better of Neon Moon, with Hardy Fella the pick of the chasing debutants.
Preference is for OUTLAW PETER, who did very well over hurdles last season and can kick on from last month's win in a two-runner chase.

Not beaten far on his debut at Salisbury earlier in the month, SAVIOUR must hold every chance of building upon that effort and switching to the all-weather should not inconvenience him. Hugo Palmer's charge gets the vote ahead of Blessed Boy, who should be open to plenty of improvement after a strong runner-up effort at Southwell on his racecourse bow. Newcomer Parwaz and Purefoy can also have a say in proceedings.
SAVIOUR made a bright start at Salisbury 3 weeks ago and can go close with improvement on the way. Blessed Boy has a similar profile and should progress. Parwaz could be an interesting newcomer for Roger Varian.
Saviour and BLESSED BOY have shown the most and look the clear pick. The latter left a favourable impression on the Southwell AW.

Philip Rothwell is enjoying a fine season so far and NATURAL BREEZE may be able to give him another winner here. The Shirocco gelding has run well to be placed on his last two outings and went down fighting at Tramore a fortnight ago in similar ground. He stays a bit further than this but stamina will be important in this ground. Blue Reed ran much better when chasing home Conyers Hill in a maiden hurdle here last month and looks on a fair mark for his handicap debut. Dontdooddson has been knocking on the door and could be place material.
C&D winner DONTDOODDSON arrives in good form and may be able to get back on the scoreboard. Natural Breeze and Go Gill Go can also make their presence felt.
A sporting selection goes to KISS MY LUCKY EGG, who should be suited by coming back in trip and could be progressive

However, would be something of a surprise if she were able to make a winning start over fences in this company. Bumper and three-time hurdle winner but, with a peak RPR of 116, she's up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (125/1 -213%) Swallows Song |
125/1(-213%) | (6) Swallows Song 125/1, Shaped better for run when third of 4 in handicap (9/4) at Kelso (23.4f, good to soft) on debut over fences 18 days ago. Faces a stiff task against principals here, though. Plenty to find with the pick of these on hurdle form and well beaten on recent chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (3) (5/4 -56%) Giovinco |
5/4(-56%) | (3) Giovinco 5/4, Winning pointer who upped his game significantly when taking 6-runner listed hurdle at Perth (23.9f, good to soft, 10/1) in April. Big player on chasing bow. 3-3 over hurdles and remains to be seen where limitations lie; exciting chasing recruit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (66/1 -65%) Curley Finger |
66/1(-65%) | (2) Curley Finger 66/1, Dual winner over timber last season but asked a big question on debut over the larger obstacles here. Consistent in handicap hurdles but others possess much better form in that sphere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Unbeaten hurdler GIOVINCO looked a smart prospect last season, as seen when capping off a fine campaign with a 12-length romp in a Listed event over hurdles at Perth in April. The six-year-old boasts a pointing background and he may have too much class for these rivals on his chase debut. Alaphilippe was last seen finishing a cracking second in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival 588 days ago and is feared most on his return, ahead of Good Risk At All.
GOOD RISK AT ALL scored here 12 months ago and with his yard adept at getting their horses ready first time, he is taken to make a winning chase debut. Giovinco and Alaphilippe may prove most dangerous in what should be an informative contest.
Giovinco is an exciting chasing recruit but preference is for the returning ALAPHILIPPE, whose trainer's horses often go well fresh

2nd (14) (5/1 -150%) Saunton Surf |
5/1(-150%) | (14) Saunton Surf 5/1, Winner of a point bumper on debut in March and followed up in an Aintree bumper (for Bradley Gibbs) 2 months later. Interesting recruit to hurdles for new yard. Created good impression when winner Aintree bumper in May; now with new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) (17/2 +29%) Time In The Sun |
17/2(+29%) | (16) Time In The Sun 17/2, Much better effort in bumpers earlier in the year when close second here in May. Her pedigree points to this longer trip suiting now hurdling. Stable no stranger to success in this contest. Bettered low-key bumper debut when close second here in May; hurdle debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (125/1 -213%) Sparkling Bird |
125/1(-213%) | (8) Sparkling Bird 125/1, Successful on second of 2 starts in Irish points in May 2021. It's taken a while to get her to the track so probably best to look elsewhere unless the betting strongly hints otherwise. Bought by David Dennis for £30,000 after winning slow-ground Irish point in May 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) (33/1 -65%) Sammy's Guarantee |
33/1(-65%) | (13) Sammy's Guarantee 33/1, Black Sam Bellamy filly. Dam (h95), bumper winner, half-sister to smart hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 3m) Thomas Brown. Runner-up sole outing in point bumpers. One to note in the betting now hurdling for a yard more than capable of readying one. Close second in a point bumper on debut in April; evidently has some ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (80/1 +20%) Crimson Ruby |
80/1(+20%) | (3) Crimson Ruby 80/1, Well beaten in 2 bumpers and a novice hurdle in the spring. Showed only minor promise when well-held fifth on hurdling debut at Uttoxeter in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (300/1 -200%) Caught A Vibe |
300/1(-200%) | (2) Caught A Vibe 300/1, Placed in points but more one for the longer term under Rules judged on her Bangor hurdle debut 3 weeks ago. Placed in two Irish points last season but struggled on recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (5/2 +9%) Baby Sage |
5/2(+9%) | (1) Baby Sage 5/2, Made a winning bumper debut at Warwick in February. Not up to a Grade 2 at the Aintree Grand National meeting subsequently but remains a nice hurdle prospect. Quite impressive when winning Warwick bumper on debut; well held in Grade 2 since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (4) (14/1 -17%) Faha Belle |
14/1(-17%) | (4) Faha Belle 14/1, Winning pointer who has shown a fair level of ability in bumpers 5 months apart. Hurdle debut. Irish point winner; both bumper runs were encouraging but others here appeal more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SAUNTON SURF struck by six lengths on her first outing under Rules before changing hands for 95,000 pounds and joining the Warren Greatrex stable. The daughter of Sea Moon should have plenty more to come and can make a winning start over the smaller obstacles. Time In The Sun was only denied by a head on her second bumper start here and could get into contention, while any market support for Melusine De Pail should be noted.
Plenty with potential in a race where the betting is likely to be informative. The suggestion is SAUNTON SURF who has switched to the Warren Greatrex yard since her stylish Aintree bumper win in May. Alan King's Baby Sage is another who showed enough in bumpers to think she can make her presence felt in a race like this, while the likes of Von Hallers, who represents last year's winning yard, Kit's Coty and Star of Hoiho are interesting recruits from the Irish pointing field.
The suggestion is BABY SAGE, who impressed on her bumper debut and can be excused her subsequent defeat in a hot Grade 2 event.

1st (5) (1/1 +64%) Red Hat Eagle |
1/1(+64%) | (5) Red Hat Eagle 1/1, 7/2, career best when winning 14-runner handicap at Kempton (1m) 8 days ago. Only nudged up 2 lb and likely to be in the thick of things again. Did well to overcome a wide draw at Kempton and well handicapped off 2lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (13/2 +0%) Mykonos St John |
13/2(+0%) | (4) Mykonos St John 13/2, C&D winner. Twenty one runs since last win in 2022. 16/1, ninth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 23 days ago. Others are more compelling. Last year ended disappointingly and he's not found his stride this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (2/1 +20%) Goldsmith |
2/1(+20%) | (1) Goldsmith 2/1, Dual course winner at the turn of the year and is shaping as if his turn might be near again. Hood refitted. Gets the vote. Continues to be on the scene and he did well to finish close up at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (66/1 -230%) Hurricane Kiko |
66/1(-230%) | (6) Hurricane Kiko 66/1, Runner-up at Chelmsford in July (also won there last year) but well held on both outings since, including back at Chelmsford last time. Needs first-time blinkers (replacing cheekpieces) to give him a lift. Has the form to feature but tailed off the last twice and now goes in blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (50/1 -100%) The Game Is Up |
50/1(-100%) | (9) The Game Is Up 50/1, Poor maiden. Ran with credit when seventh of 11 over 1¼m here 21 days ago but has had numerous chances from her basement mark now. Decent effort last time but that made it 0-12 and her record is patchy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (20/1 -43%) Tribal Wisdom |
20/1(-43%) | (2) Tribal Wisdom 20/1, Falling in the weights without giving any indication he's ready to take advantage. Makes polytrack debut. Another disappointing run for this yard when behind Goldsmith at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (10/1 -82%) Al Hargah |
10/1(-82%) | (3) Al Hargah 10/1, Successful twice on turf this year but needs to shrug off lesser efforts the last twice now switching to AW for just the second time. On a good mark but her campaign is threatening to fizzle out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (18/1 -50%) Showlan Spirit |
18/1(-50%) | (8) Showlan Spirit 18/1, Modest maiden. Creditable eighth of 13 in handicap at Southwell (11f) 28 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. One to consider. Only 8th at Southwell (1m3f) but that 3.75l defeat is the closest she's come in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (66/1 -164%) Pierce |
66/1(-164%) | (7) Pierce 66/1, 66/1, first run since leaving Clive Cox when seventh of 10 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, soft) 10 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Has a tongue strap and cheekpieces fitted for the first time. Left Clive Cox for 1,000gns and with his maiden status intact; quiet yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (50/1 -100%) Tiz Likely |
50/1(-100%) | (10) Tiz Likely 50/1, Ran one of her better races when fifth of 11 over C&D 21 days ago. The first-time cheekpieces she wore on that occasion are retained. Did run better in the first-time cheekpieces over C&D last time but likely to need more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
RED HAT EAGLE was value for more than the winning margin when scoring narrowly at Kempton on his most recent start, and a 2lb rise for that success could prove lenient with Neil Callan taking over in the saddle. Goldsmith has been knocking on the door of late and is likely to be thereabouts, along with the capable Al Hargah and Showlan Spirit, who could be suited by dropping back in trip.
GOLDSMITH is taken to get his head back in front returned to the scene of his wins last winter. Red Hat Eagle was only raised 2 lb for last week's Kempton success and is the obvious threat in a contest where few arrive with compelling claims. Showlan Spirit may prove best of the remainder.
Red Hat Eagle is well handicapped on his Kempton win but GOLDSMITH could be a dangerous opponent should this pan out well for him.

1st (2) (2/1 -14%) Limerick Lace |
2/1(-14%) | (2) Limerick Lace 2/1, Useful chaser. Latest win in chase at Naas in February. 11/4, below form 22½ lengths third of 7 to Instit in listed chase at Fairyhouse (21.7f, good to soft). Off 6 months. Should have a big say if ready to roll. Every chance on overall form but record fresh not great so possibly vulnerable here. |

2nd (3) (11/4 +21%) Heia |
11/4(+21%) | (3) Heia 11/4, Useful hurdler. Winning chase debut at Tramore in June but below that level in her 2 outings since. Early days but a bounce back is needed. Disappointing since Tramore win and questions to answer at this stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 +33%) Minx Tiara |
10/3(+33%) | (4) Minx Tiara 10/3, Useful chaser. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 17/2, creditable third of 10 in handicap chase at Cork (17.6f, good to soft) 11 days ago, though she did have the run of it from the front. Good recent Cork effort and has her chance at the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (8/1 +76%) Feddans |
8/1(+76%) | (5) Feddans 8/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Well-beaten fourth of 6 to Eabha Grace in Shannon Spray Mares Novices' Hurdle at Limerick (22f, heavy, 9/1), ridden too aggressively. Off 7 months. Makes chase debut. Maiden hurdle winner here last season but stiff task awaits on chasing bow. |

|PU| (1) (4/1 -14%) Hurricane Georgie |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Hurricane Georgie 4/1, Smart chaser. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 11/1, good 1¾ lengths second of 5 to Minella Indo in Grade 3 chase at Punchestown (23.3f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Down in trip. Leading claims. Flattered by latest but in good heart and possible fitness advantage over some of these. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
An interesting little heat and LIMERICK LACE may be able to make a winning return. The Walk In The Park mare had a fine season as a novice last term, winning twice and finishing second in Grade 3 company at Naas. She is top rated in this, off a mark of 141, and may have a few more gears than rival Hurricane Georgie. Gordon Elliott's charge does come here race-fit though and ran a cracker when chasing home Minella Indo in Grade 3 company at Punchestown 15 days ago. Her best form is at further though. Heia disappointed on her most recent outing at Listowel, when it was reported that she was showing signs of coming into season. She is capable of better and getting weight off the top two she can't be discounted.
HURRICANE GEORGIE has drawn a blank since her Midlands National success at Kilbeggan in summer 2022 but her latest Punchestown Grade 3 second would suggest she's still smart on her day and this might be a decent opportunity for her as Limerick Lace has peak fitness to prove back from 6 months off, while Heia needs to get back on track after a disappointing run at Listowel last month.
Question marks surround several so the default choice is MINX TIARA on the back of a good recent run at Cork

1st (6) (3/1 +45%) Rukaana |
3/1(+45%) | (6) Rukaana 3/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Ninth of 12 in minor event at Kempton (7f, 66/1) 34 days ago. In good hands and needs a second look now pitched into a nursery. Down the field in three 7f runs but appeals as an improver now handicapping in Class 6s. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 +9%) Professor Tickle |
5/1(+9%) | (2) Professor Tickle 5/1, 12/1, good third of 18 in nursery at Leicester (6f, good) 16 days ago. Merits respect off an unchanged mark. 6f maiden winner in June but not progressed since; step up to 7f needs to spark extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (6/1 +14%) Compton Bay |
6/1(+14%) | (8) Compton Bay 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 10/1, seventh of 11 in nursery at this course (8.6f) 19 days ago. Dropping back in trip looks a good move and he's not discounted. Return to 7f can help and did too much too soon on nursery debut; not fully exposed. |

4th (3) (11/1 -69%) Asian Tide |
11/1(-69%) | (3) Asian Tide 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 10 in minor event at Kempton (6f, 50/1) 29 days ago. Makes handicap debut and needs to raise her game. One promising run at Newmarket (7f) but not entirely solid and others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (5/2 +44%) Cuban Harry |
5/2(+44%) | (1) Cuban Harry 5/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 17/2 and blinkered for 1st time, creditable fifth of 12 in nursery at Lingfield (7f, AW) 21 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and sports a first-time visor. One to consider. Fair effort in stronger nursery at Lingfield latest; new headgear tried; not yet exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (9/1 -13%) Madame Christine |
9/1(-13%) | (7) Madame Christine 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1, sixth of 9 in nursery at Catterick (7f, soft) 33 days ago. Others more persuasive on balance. Drops in class after two nursery defeats but she comes here with something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (28/1 -250%) Krysdanjord |
28/1(-250%) | (4) Krysdanjord 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 5 in nursery at Chelmsford City (5f, 4/1) 42 days ago. Significantly back up in trip and likely to find one or two too good once more. No real improvement for handicapping the last twice; drawn widest on return to 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (150/1 -355%) Timely Chance |
150/1(-355%) | (9) Timely Chance 150/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 11 in nursery (33/1) at Leicester (6f, good) 31 days ago. Others preferred. Remote last of 11 on nursery debut last month; not easily recommended. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (40/1 -150%) Dylan's Ashes |
40/1(-150%) | (10) Dylan's Ashes 40/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 9 in minor event at Chelmsford City (7f, 66/1) 26 days ago. Blinkers applied for this handicap debut and worth a peek in the betting. Modest form in three 7f runs thus far; blinkered for nursery debut & bred to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (14/1 -100%) Aljadel |
14/1(-100%) | (5) Aljadel 14/1, Lightly-raced winner. Successful at Lingfield in August. Eighth of 10 in nursery at Newmarket (7f, good to firm, 80/1) 26 days ago. Now 3 lb lower in a far less competitive race and she may well get back on track. 7f AW winner on stable debut (form not franked); stiff task latest & this more manageable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This is a drop in grade for ALJADEL, who struggled in a valuable nursery at Newmarket on her latest start, and the daughter of New Bay can take advantage of this easier test. She may have too much for Professor Tickle and Cuban Harry, who remains open to improvement after four career starts. Krysdanjord and Rukaana are entitled to be thereabouts as well.
CUBAN HARRY could be the answer to this open-looking nursery. He wasn't beaten far when blinkered for his all-weather/nursery debut at Lingfield 3 weeks ago and perhaps the more severe headgear enlisted here may help eke out a bit more. Compton Bay probably found the 8.6f trip too much of a test here recently and he is feared back at 7f, while Professor Tickle is third choice ahead of Aljadel.
Cuban Harry and Aljadel are considered but RUKAANA appeals as a likely big improver now switched to low-grade nurseries.

2/1(+60%) | (7) Fenland Tiger 2/1, Improved for longer trips/switch to handicaps last term, showing a willing attitude to complete the hat-trick at Newcastle (23.7f) in November. Below par when last seen at Aintree in December but scored on reappearance here last season and warrants respect on chasing bow. Handicap hurdle hat-trick last autumn and he has looked a chaser in the making. |

2nd (5) (6/1 +25%) Lyrical Genius |
6/1(+25%) | (5) Lyrical Genius 6/1, Point, bumper and hurdle winner who posted improved effort over fences when going close at Doncaster (26f) in January. However, rather went backwards subsequently and has a bit to prove on return. Blinkers back on. Went close off this mark in January but lost his form in March; turnaround needed. |

3rd (3) (11/2 +0%) Anti Bridgie |
11/2(+0%) | (3) Anti Bridgie 11/2, Fair form in winning her first 2 starts over hurdles at Sedgefield and Kelso and she got back on track when third of 14 in Perth handicap (20.2f) in April. Possibilities now going chasing. Very lightly raced point runner-up and two-time novice hurdle winner; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/3 -48%) Inis Oirr |
10/3(-48%) | (1) Inis Oirr 10/3, Came good at fourth attempt over hurdles in February, landing a class 2 novice at Musselburgh (23.8f). Jumping well until bad mistake (possibly unsighted by glare of sun) and unseating rider at Kelso on return/chase debut earlier this month and is worth another chance. Mid-race unseat on chase debut but promising novice hurdler last season; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/1 +8%) Yellowstone Park |
11/1(+8%) | (2) Yellowstone Park 11/1, Proved rather inconsistent over hurdles last term but did get his head in front at Leicester in December and has experience from points. Makes chase debut. Some good hurdle form last term and there can be optimism he'll be better over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (20/1 -122%) Here Comes The Man |
20/1(-122%) | (4) Here Comes The Man 20/1, Point winner who left his hurdling form well behind when making a winning chase debut in 7-runner handicap at Newcastle (23.4f) in April. Ran too bad to be true at Perth next time and warrants respect on return. Impressed on chase debut at Newcastle in April; subsequent run may have come too soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (11/2 -57%) Carlo Du Berlais |
11/2(-57%) | (6) Carlo Du Berlais 11/2, Proved a different proposition switched to chasing, winning twice at Uttoxeter (both 24f) before creditable second of 5 in Worcester handicap (23f) last time. Should appreciate this stiffer test of stamina. Two wins from his four chase starts and his experience is a positive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Inis Oirr shouldn't be judged too harshly on his 10th-fence blunder when unseating his rider at Kelso earlier this month, as the six-year-old had jumped with plenty of verve prior to that mishap. The son of Ocovango likely has more to offer in this sphere and isn't taken lightly, but slight preference is for CARLO DU BERLAIS, who should relish this stiffer test of stamina. The Fergal O'Brien-trained gelding can put his experience to good use, with chasing debutant Anti Bridgie of interest too.
Another chance is given to INIS OIRR, who had jumped with aplomb until unseating his rider at Kelso on chase debut earlier this month. Carlo du Berlais and Here Comes The Man rate the principal dangers.
An interesting little race. YELLOWSTONE PARK is bred to improve for the switch to fences and he is the pick.

11/4(-10%) | (4) La Renommee 11/4, Scored twice in the spring before a creditable showing despite stiffer fences at Cheltenham 6 months ago. Has a vast experience edge over her rivals and should be on the premises. Dual C&D winner towards end of last season and subsequently ran well at Cheltenham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 +46%) Malaita |
7/2(+46%) | (5) Malaita 7/2, Bumper winner who belatedly got off the mark over hurdles in 14-runner handicap at Carlisle in February. Followed up to land a much bigger pot at Cheltenham (20.2f) subsequently and ran with credit at Aintree 5 months ago. Should go well on chase bow. Gamely made all in valuable series final over hurdles in April; chasing debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/1 -38%) Pougne Aminta |
11/1(-38%) | (6) Pougne Aminta 11/1, Irish point winner who scored with any amount in hand in a weak mares' maiden hurdle at Wetherby in March. Just respectable effort next time and has since left Fergal O'Brien but she's very much the type to take to chasing. Made all in maiden hurdle in March; last year's point win bodes well for chasing prospects. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (5/1 +38%) Passing Reflection |
5/1(+38%) | (7) Passing Reflection 5/1, Fair bumper performer who has reached a similar level over hurdles and shaped well when second at Warwick when last seen almost 6 months ago. Can make her presence felt if she takes to this new discipline. Tends to race too freely but ran big race in defeat over hurdles in May; chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (14/1 -40%) Kalpaga |
14/1(-40%) | (8) Kalpaga 14/1, French import who was backed at big prices when cashing in on a reduced mark at Hereford (19.7f) in April. 7/1, creditable second of 8 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (21.9f, good to soft) 6 months ago. Attentions are now turned to chasing. In good form over hurdles when last seen in April; makes chasing debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (15/8 +25%) Poetic Music |
15/8(+25%) | (2) Poetic Music 15/8, Already a six-time winner under Rules, gaining her third hurdles success despite conceding first run at Perth 6 months ago. Should take to this discipline, so may be up to improving an already excellent strike rate. Listed bumper winner; promising novice hurdler last season; good chasing prospect. |

|F| (3) (80/1 -400%) Fortunefavorsdbold |
80/1(-400%) | (3) Fortunefavorsdbold 80/1, Lightly-raced sort who got off the mark in 3m novice at Limerick (heavy) in March. Only fourteenth on handicap debut at Cork following month on her final run for Paul Nolan. Still needs considering though on her first run in this sphere for her new yard. Irish hurdle winner in March; blinkers removed for stable/chase debut; market may guide. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PASSING REFLECTION was only beaten by half a length into second at Warwick when last seen in May and that was only her fourth start over hurdles. The daughter of Passing Glance switches to fences and it would be no surprise to see her defy a mark of 109. Poetic Music is 3-6 over the smaller obstacles and she looks an interesting recruit to the chasing ranks, while Malaita completes the shortlist.
POETIC MUSIC is a likeable mare who has been prolific to date and should take to the larger obstacles, so she gets the nod over La Renommee, who has a lot more chasing experience than her rivals. Malaita is another one to consider.
Some promising mares make their chasing debuts here but dual C&D winner LA RENOMMEE is taken to put her fencing experience to good use.

1st (2) (11/2 +50%) Lilkian |
11/2(+50%) | (2) Lilkian 11/2, 3-time C&D winner who wasn't seen to best effect when eighth of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 26 days ago. Not dismissed. 4-time track winner who was caught wide latest; edging down weights & could be thereabouts. |

2nd (5) (9/2 +25%) A Pint Of Bear |
9/2(+25%) | (5) A Pint Of Bear 9/2, Easily best effort this year when second at Wolverhampton at the beginning of the month. Failed to repeat that back there 2 days ago, though. Runner-up at Wolverhampton two starts ago but well beaten there on Tuesday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 -9%) Stone Of Destiny |
3/1(-9%) | (3) Stone Of Destiny 3/1, Untrustworthy individual. Thirty seven runs since last win in 2020. Produced one of his better recent efforts when second of 11 in handicap at Redcar (5f, good to firm, 4/1) 29 days ago, albeit outbattled. Has gone very close on turf the last twice and should be fine now back on AW; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/2 +9%) Newyorkstateofmind |
5/2(+9%) | (4) Newyorkstateofmind 5/2, C&D winner who bounced back to form when excellent second of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 5 days ago, clear of rest. Big chance from only 2 lb higher mark. Inconsistent since winning in June but went close on Saturday; strong claims on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (10/1 -25%) Man On A Mission |
10/1(-25%) | (7) Man On A Mission 10/1, 4-time course winner who shaped as if better for the run when eighth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 23 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Return to form needed but perhaps the cheekpieces will galvanise this 4-time course winner. |

6th (1) (7/1 -75%) Straits Of Moyle |
7/1(-75%) | (1) Straits Of Moyle 7/1, Showed a willing attitude to get off the mark for current yard at Yarmouth in August. Below form the last twice but has been given a little break since and could get back on track. Won at Yarmouth in August but the down the field on turf twice since and 0-10 on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (66/1 -200%) Break The Spell |
66/1(-200%) | (6) Break The Spell 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden who underperformed when fifth of 7 in minor event at this course (7.6f, good to firm) when last seen. Off 136 days. Down in trip for handicap debut. It's possible the drop to 6f will suit on handicap debut but she could be on a tough mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
STONE OF DESTINY has hit the crossbar the last twice, including when only denied by a short head at Redcar last time and he is 4lb higher for that display. The eight-year-old now has Tom Marquand in the saddle and he can return to winning ways. The main threat is likely to come from Newyorkstateofmind, who was just over three lengths clear of the third at Wolverhampton last week and he should go well off 2lb higher. Of the remainder, Break The Spell makes the most appeal on her handicap bow.
NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND pulled clear of the rest when runner-up at Wolverhampton last week and is the percentage call to go one better from only a 2 lb higher mark. Straits of Moyle could get back on track after a small break and is feared most ahead of the unreliable Stone of Destiny.
The 8yo STONE OF DESTINY can end a long losing run having gone very close on turf the last twice. Newyorkstateofmind is feared most

1st (4) (10/3 +17%) Bonnie Kellie |
10/3(+17%) | (4) Bonnie Kellie 10/3, Off 5 months but running well when unseated rider 3 out (poised to challenge) in handicap chase at Roscommon (21.3f, soft, 9/2) 31 days ago. Firmly in the picture off an unchanged mark. Very encouraging Roscommon comeback run last month; major player if avoiding serious error. |

2nd (7) (6/1 +70%) Kilashee |
6/1(+70%) | (7) Kilashee 6/1, Starting to struggle when fell 2 out in handicap hurdle at Galway (16.7f, heavy, 6/1) 23 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Unreliable individual. Bits and pieces chasing but not a natural jumper and hard to be confident in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/4 -22%) Jenny Flex |
11/4(-22%) | (6) Jenny Flex 11/4, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 12-runner novice chase at Downpatrick (19.2f, soft, 9/2) 20 days ago. Had a bit in hand there and headgear is retained so she's a player on her handicap debut. Downpatrick winner faces greater stamina test on handicap debut but going the right way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (6/1 -20%) Sunnyvilla |
6/1(-20%) | (5) Sunnyvilla 6/1, C&D winner. Latest win in chase at Fairyhouse in February. Good third of 11 in handicap chase at Tramore (21.6f, soft, 10/1), running on. Off 6 months so needs to hit the ground running. C&D winner two years ago (after a break) so has to be respected on comeback here. |

|PU| (8) (9/1 +73%) Crowsatedappletart |
9/1(+73%) | (8) Crowsatedappletart 9/1, Continues out of sorts, eighth of 10 in handicap chase at Tramore (15.5f, heavy) 14 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Cheekpieces back on with work to do. Hard to fancy on both recent efforts in handicaps although handicapper giving him a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (12/1 +45%) Harly De Rots |
12/1(+45%) | (9) Harly De Rots 12/1, 150/1, tenth of 12 in claiming hurdle at Limerick (21f, soft). Off 8 months. Switches from hurdles to chase with plenty to prove. Didn't get beyond the first on handicap bow; tailed off in claiming hurdle when last seen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (14/1 -300%) Room To Roam |
14/1(-300%) | (3) Room To Roam 14/1, Got off the mark over fences in 9-runner handicap chase (13/2) at Sligo (21.2f, heavy) 29 days ago. Up 8 lb but still not discounted. Ran away with 2m5f Sligo contest; 8lb rise to career-high chase mark so more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (17/2 -6%) Slige Dala |
17/2(-6%) | (1) Slige Dala 17/2, Eighteen runs since last win in 2020. 8/1, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap chase at Galway (22.5f, soft) 45 days ago. Others still more persuasive. One of better efforts when fourth at Galway on latest; drops in grade so don't rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (18/1 +0%) Rebel Early |
18/1(+0%) | (2) Rebel Early 18/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 50/1, last of 6 in novice chase at Listowel (20f, soft) 36 days ago. Not easy to make a case for. Plenty to find with Slige Dala on penultimate Galway effort when jumping poorly. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
JENNY FLEX was probably value for a bit more than her winning margin at Downpatrick last time and may be able to strike again here. The well-bred Walk In The Park mare has taken a while to find her feet but was good last time, scooting clear between the last two fences and idling a bit late on to beat stablemate Zettabyte by a length-and-three-quarters. An initial handicap mark of 102 doesn't look harsh. Room To Roam also comes here in winning form, having scored by a wide margin at Sligo late last month. He got a 8lb hike for that victory but looks like the obvious danger. Slige Dala has run well to be placed on his last couple of outings and could reach the frame again.
JENNY FLEX showed the benefit of headgear when going in cosily at Downpatrick last time and can capitalise on a handy-looking mark back in handicap company here with the cheekpieces again sported. Bonnie Kellie rates the chief threat if none the worse for her late Roscommon fall, with Room To Roam also firmly in the picture on the back of his recent Sligo victory.
Preference is for BONNIE KELLIE, who was running a good comeback race until unseating at Roscommon

3rd (3) (18/1 -50%) George's Rascal |
18/1(-50%) | (3) George's Rascal 18/1, Fair maiden. Tenth of 11 in nursery at Redcar (6f, good to firm, 7/1) 29 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Can give a good account if shrugging off latest effort. Beat only one on his nursery debut at Redcar latest; more needed on his switch to Tapeta. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (5/1 +0%) Checkmeout |
5/1(+0%) | (8) Checkmeout 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1 and hooded for 1st time, creditable sixth of 12 in maiden at Kempton (8f) 15 days ago. Makes tapeta/handicap debut and needs considering. Fair sixth in Kempton maiden latest; may do better still on nursery/Tapeta debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/2 +36%) Hand Jive |
9/2(+36%) | (6) Hand Jive 9/2, Thrice-raced maiden, best run when fourth of 10 in minor event at this C&D (25/1) 17 days ago. Much respected now going into handicaps with the prospect of more to come. Good fourth over C&D 17 days ago; son of Blue Point needs considering on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (22/1 -83%) Haya Taal |
22/1(-83%) | (4) Haya Taal 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 10/1, struck into when last of 7 in nursery at Kempton (8f) 43 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Cheekpieces back on and needs to get back on track. Reportedly struck into when last on Kempton nursery debut latest; can't be dismissed. |

11/1(+8%) | (2) Takeover Target 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/1, only sixth of 8 in minor event at Chester (6.1f, soft) 40 days ago. Visor on 1st time now. Below par on last two runs, including on Sandown nursery debut; visor replaces cheekpieces. |

8th (7) (33/1 -65%) Meet Me In Meraki |
33/1(-65%) | (7) Meet Me In Meraki 33/1, Modest maiden. Eleventh of 12 in nursery at Lingfield (7f, AW, 100/1) 21 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Something to find on form. Yet to make the frame in five races; free-going sort, never dangerous in his two nurseries. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (12/1 +0%) Balmanzor |
12/1(+0%) | (10) Balmanzor 12/1, Poor maiden. Below form sixth of 11 in nursery at Newcastle (7.1f, 15/2) 37 days ago. Others appeal more. Failed to make the frame in a pair of Newcastle nurseries last two starts; hard to warm to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (7/2 -56%) Cherry Hill |
7/2(-56%) | (5) Cherry Hill 7/2, Built on previous promise to land 11-runner nursery (12/1) at Kempton (7f) 38 days ago. Up 5 lb but she still has to be taken seriously on this new surface. Off the mark with a bit in hand in 7f Kempton nursery latest; big player on Tapeta debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for CHERRY HILL, following a determined success at Kempton last time out, there could be plenty more to come from the daughter of Ulysses off a 5lb higher mark. Checkmeout looks to be a key threat on her handicap debut, while The Bitter Moose is another to consider despite a wide draw. George's Rascal and Hand Jive are also capable of being in the shake-up.
A number of these arrive with a question mark against them so this is a good opportunity for CHERRY HILL to defy a 5 lb rise and follow up her Kempton success off a still lenient-looking mark. Nursery newcomers Hand Jive and Checkmeout appeal as the chief threats.
Dominic Ffrench Davis's Ulysses filly CHERRY HILL arrives on the up and she can make light of a 5lb rise for her cosy Kempton success.

1st (7) (5/1 +33%) Zwicky |
5/1(+33%) | (7) Zwicky 5/1, Off the mark at the third attempt in handicaps when scoring at Sedgefield in January, and added to that when making a winning reappearance at the same course (19.8f, good to soft) recently. Up just 3 lb and he's probably capable of better still. Improving sort who comfortably landed Sedgefield handicap 15 days ago; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (15) (18/1 -80%) Solway Molly |
18/1(-80%) | (15) Solway Molly 18/1, Bumper winner who got off the mark at the ninth attempt in this sphere when landing a 6-runner Hexham handicap (2½m, heavy) 20 days ago, seeming to relish the switch to front-running tactics. More on her plate in this bigger field, but 3 lb rise fair and she needs considering. Gained breakthrough hurdles win at Hexham 20 days ago; needs to back it up off 3lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (19) (16/1 +0%) Bushmill Boy |
16/1(+0%) | (19) Bushmill Boy 16/1, Has made the frame at Hexham on each of his last 3 starts, most recently finishing fourth of 10 in a maiden (2½m, good) in June. However, the fact that he's still a maiden following 14 attempts in this sphere is off-putting, while the forecast slow ground is also a concern. Yet to register a victory but he arrives in decent nick; respected back in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (14/1 +0%) Clovis Boy |
14/1(+0%) | (11) Clovis Boy 14/1, Failed to build on debut promise in juvenile hurdles last season, but has undergone a wind op since his latest start and it's not hard to envisage this 4-y-o faring better now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Only 7th at Hexham in April; since had wind op and sort to do better in h'caps up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (18) (10/3 +61%) Secret Secret |
10/3(+61%) | (18) Secret Secret 10/3, Picked up for only £1,500 after failing to click in 3 starts for Neil Mulholland and just kept up to work to capitalise on a falling mark after 6 months off at Cartmel (22.1f, soft) in August. Up 6 lb for that win and could have more to offer for this yard. Winning start for James Moffatt in Cartmel h'cap in August; up 6lb but not dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (6/1 +29%) So Many Roads |
6/1(+29%) | (3) So Many Roads 6/1, Much improved when justifying support on handicap debut in 17-runner contest at Ayr (heavy) in January. Mid-race faller on final start of last season and this lightly-raced 6-y-o remains open to improvement. Won at Ayr; fell fifth there last time but he remains with potential so needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (6/1 +25%) Copper Cove |
6/1(+25%) | (6) Copper Cove 6/1, Exeter bumper winner in February 2022 and encouraging start over hurdles when third of 8 in a Ffos Las maiden on reappearance last season. No real impact switched to handicaps last 3 starts (over fences latest), but certainly not one to write off just yet. A fair bumper winner/hurdler; not discounted for his in-form yard on his reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (80/1 -186%) Frightened Rabbit |
80/1(-186%) | (12) Frightened Rabbit 80/1, Won at Hexham in re-fitted cheekpieces for Dianne Sayer in May 2022, but little show since, including in 4 runs for this yard. Course winner in 2022 but more recent form is far less encouraging; hard to make case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (14/1 -75%) Bouncing Bobby |
14/1(-75%) | (14) Bouncing Bobby 14/1, Off the mark over hurdles when landing a C&D handicap off 11 lb lower last October. Successful on the Flat during the summer and he's worth a second look returned to this sphere with conditions no problem. Took this 12 months ago and in winning form on Flat this summer too; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (80/1 -344%) Star Vantage |
80/1(-344%) | (9) Star Vantage 80/1, Was in the process of showing improved form when departing at the final flight at Newcastle in April, still in the lead at the time of his exit. However, failed to back that up at Hexham the following month, and others make more appeal. Signed off with a poor effort at Hexham in May; needs to hit the ground running on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (17) (14/1 +36%) Blended Stealth |
14/1(+36%) | (17) Blended Stealth 14/1, Placed 3 times for Nigel Twiston-Davies last season and shaped encouragingly on his stable debut when third at Uttoxeter in July. However, below-par effort at Cartmel since and tongue tie he wore that day is quickly discarded. Promising start for new yard when third at Uttoxeter but only seventh at Cartmel since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (22/1 -57%) Torosay |
22/1(-57%) | (8) Torosay 22/1, Showed some improvement on third hurdles start when third in a 10-runner Hexham maiden (2½m, heavy) on final start of last season. Likely improver now going down the handicap route, but she shapes as though a stiffer test would be ideal. Good third at Hexham in March; yard among winners so can go well on her handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (14/1 -17%) Euchan Falls |
14/1(-17%) | (10) Euchan Falls 14/1, Bagged handicaps at Musselburgh and Ayr last season, but ended that campaign on a low-key note and offered little on his reappearance at Perth. Ended last season below par and pulled up at Perth on his reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (4) (28/1 -75%) Kapamazov |
28/1(-75%) | (4) Kapamazov 28/1, Point runner-up who shaped with some promise when fourth of 12 in novice hurdle at Hereford (21.7f, good to soft). Unsuited by drop to 17f at Newcastle next time when last seen in March and better expected back up in trip for this handicap debut. Has shown promise both runs over hurdles; more to offer handicapping back up in distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (11/1 -10%) Rajjamataz |
11/1(-10%) | (5) Rajjamataz 11/1, Stepped up on what he showed in maiden company when finding just one too strong on handicap debut at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) in April. Each-way chance if able to build on that back from an 8-month break. Very good second on handicap debut at Chepstow in April; considered on his seasonal return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (40/1 -43%) Iolani |
40/1(-43%) | (16) Iolani 40/1, Veteran who arrives here on a losing run that stretches back to September 2021. Has posted some creditable efforts in defeat in the interim, but not so at Sedgefield last time and it's probably best to look elsewhere. Winless since 2021 and he's been largely below par this season; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (20) (40/1 +20%) Celestial Fashion |
40/1(+20%) | (20) Celestial Fashion 40/1, First piece of worthwhile form over hurdles when returning from wind surgery to finish second over 17f here in March. However, it would be something of an understatement to say that she has failed to build on that in 3 subsequent appearances. Runner-up in 2m1f Carlisle handicap hurdle in March but she has offered little since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (50/1 -79%) Breakdance Kid |
50/1(-79%) | (2) Breakdance Kid 50/1, Unpromising in points but made the frame twice from 3 starts in maiden/novice company at around 19f for Patrick Neville last season. May have more to offer now handicapping for new yard, but will find easier opportunities than this. In the frame in 2 novice hurdles for Patrick Neville; much respected for new yard now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (125/1 -213%) Fairland |
125/1(-213%) | (13) Fairland 125/1, Point winner who shaped better than the distance beaten suggests back over hurdles in Ballinrobe handicap in May. Well held starting out for this yard at Hexham a month later, though, and now has a bit to prove. Fair ex-Irish maiden; offered little for her new yard at Hexham in June. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A chance is taken on ZWICKY, who won in ready fashion over 2m4f at Sedgefield last time and is taken to follow up. Philip Kirby's charge has been raised 3lb for that success but the six-year-old won more cosily than the winning margin suggests. Rajjamataz is feared most after running well when second over the extended 2m3f at Chepstow in April, while better can be expected of So Many Roads.
SO MANY ROADS and Zwicky both remain open to improvement and could be the pair to concentrate on. The latter is not passed over at all lightly, particularly with a recent run (and a winning one at that) under his belt, but So Many Roads is marginally preferred on the strength of his decisive handicap debut success at Ayr last season. Bouncing Bobby, a C&D winner this time last year, and Cartmel scorer Secret Secret are others to consider.
Lots with chances but there was a lot to like about the reappearance Sedgefield win of ZWICKY so this improving sort gets the vote

5/4(+29%) | (1) Seefin 5/4, Suited by step up to 3m when improving to make a winning start in handicap company at Uttoxeter (3m, soft) last month. Raised 10 lb but could easily have more to offer for his top stable. Won in good style when upped to 2m7f for last month's handicap debut; commands respect. |

2nd (5) (13/8 +41%) Awesome Foursome |
13/8(+41%) | (5) Awesome Foursome 13/8, Improved effort to get off the mark over hurdles after a break when forging 11 lengths clear in 2½m Perth handicap on heavy ground last month. It's unlikely ground conditions will be quite so testing this time but the longer trip may help. Returned from break with 11l win at Perth (2m4f) last month; back up in trip today. |

3rd (3) (5/1 -11%) Honey I'm Good |
5/1(-11%) | (3) Honey I'm Good 5/1, Notched 3 chase wins between April and July. Sound effort from her lower hurdle mark when second over 26.5f at Newton Abbot last month and she's unlikely to be too far away if showing up here in similar form. Dual chase winner this summer and ran big race in defeat when back over hurdles last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/1 -29%) Norvics Reflection |
11/1(-29%) | (2) Norvics Reflection 11/1, Good training performance to get him back from a long absence to win in maiden company at Uttoxeter (2½m) last month. That form is nothing special and this opening mark demands more but he should be suited by 3m. Just held on to make all in 2m4f maiden last month; upped in trip for handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A competitive contest for the grade and a tentative vote goes to the Dan Skelton-trained SEEFIN, who proved a different proposition when landing the spoils on his handicap debut at Uttoxeter last month. He may be able to defy a 10lb rise in the ratings. Fellow last-time-out winner Awesome Foursome is feared most after his 11-length romp at Perth, ahead of Honey I'm Good.
A small field but an interesting race. SEEFIN could have more to come and gets the nod to make it 2-2 in handicaps but a case of sorts can be made for all his rivals, recent Perth scorer Awesome Foursome possibly the pick of them.
After winning with quite a bit left in the tank on last month's handicap debut, SEEFIN might be able to overcome a 10lb rise.

Had made the frame on his previous 3 starts, though, so could bounce back if ready to go after 3 months off. Four creditable runs this year before a lesser show in July latest; AW is a question mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (5/1 +29%) Major Major |
5/1(+29%) | (8) Major Major 5/1, Recorded back-to-back wins at this course (turf) and Windsor in August. After a below-par effort, soon back to form when fourth of 10 in handicap at latter course (11.4f, good to firm, 4/1) 17 days ago. Shortlisted. Won twice in August at about 11.5f on turf; creditable 4th last time; bit extra is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 +33%) World Without Love |
4/1(+33%) | (1) World Without Love 4/1, Latest win at Carlisle in June. Has made the frame on 3 of her 4 starts since, third of 8 in handicap (10/1) at Kempton (2m) 47 days ago. Respected as she drops back down in grade. Respected even though the shorter trip might not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/1 -100%) Regally Blonde |
9/1(-100%) | (4) Regally Blonde 9/1, Fairly useful winner on Flat in Ireland. Campaigned over hurdles this year for current yard, third of 7 in novice (11/4) at Chepstow (2m, good to soft) in April. Interesting back on the level (tongue strap retained from hurdling). Interesting on 2022 Irish form; modest hurdler; upset in stalls (withdrawn) 11 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (4/1 -45%) Richard P Smith |
4/1(-45%) | (3) Richard P Smith 4/1, Latest win on turf here in May. Again ran well when second of 10 in handicap (11/2) at Catterick (12.1f, soft) 22 days ago. Can continue his good run of form to return to winning ways upped in trip. His three wins were on turf but he's been on the premises in all four of his AW handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (9/2 +25%) Divya |
9/2(+25%) | (9) Divya 9/2, Returned to form when third of 9 in handicap at Yarmouth (11.5f, good to soft, 6/1) 36 days ago. Still looking for her first win, but she's capable of getting involved having been eased further in the weights. 0-9 but edging down the weights and has each-way chance based on turf and Polytrack form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (250/1 -525%) United Force |
250/1(-525%) | (7) United Force 250/1, Opened account at Leicester in April. However, form has gone the wrong way on his last 3 starts, last of 11 in handicap at Kempton (1m, 150/1) 38 days ago. Has enough to prove tried over this longer distance. Tailed off on last three starts; unraced beyond 1m1f; headgear (worn last five starts) off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WORLD WITHOUT LOVE was denied by just over three lengths into third in a class 4 event at Kempton last month, which looks possibly the best form on offer in this contest. The daughter of Ulysses goes off the same mark and could prove hard to beat. Richard P Smith has been knocking on the door lately and has to be considered as he takes a further step up in distance, while Major Major goes well on the all-weather and is another to note.
RICHARD P SMITH has returned to form with cheekpieces refitted on his last 3 starts, finishing runner-up on the last 2 occasions, so he is taken to go one better as he goes up in trip. World Without Love also arrives in good heart and isn't taken lightly, while Major Major is another who merits consideration.
This looks a good chance for RICHARD P SMITH (nap) to record his first AW win. He brings creditable AW form along with three turf wins.

2nd (5) (17/2 -6%) Freddie Robdal |
17/2(-6%) | (5) Freddie Robdal 17/2, Winner in chase at Tramore in April. Sixth of 8 in novice chase (17/2) at Tramore (15.5f, good) 70 days ago. Others make more appeal. Mostly consistent since until running poorly at Tramore in August; chance at his best. |

4th (8) (7/2 -17%) Womalko |
7/2(-17%) | (8) Womalko 7/2, Fairly useful winner at 19f over hurdles. Best effort in this sphere when winning 6-runner handicap chase at this course (17.9f, heavy, 5/6) by ½ length from Carrolls Cottage. Remains with scope based on hurdling form and worth taking a chance on despite the long absence. Not seen since holding off Carrolls Cottage over 2m2f here in December; runs well fresh. |

8th (6) (10/1 -264%) Croi Corcra |

On the upgrade and should go well again. Drop back in trip not guaranteed to suit but comes here in form and looks a contender. |

9th (1) (33/1 -175%) Toofareastiswest |
33/1(-175%) | (1) Toofareastiswest 33/1, Fair winner at 21f over hurdles. First run since leaving Eoghan O'Grady when sixth of 8 in novice chase (12/1) at Cork (17.6f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Makes handicap chase debut. Well beaten in a novice chase at Cork 11 days ago after a break of 17 months; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (10/1 +29%) Made In The Woods |
10/1(+29%) | (9) Made In The Woods 10/1, Winner in chase at Limerick in March. 11/8, seventh of 14 in handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (22.1f, soft). Off 6 months. Switches from hurdles to chase. Back down in trip. Not seen since April and might need the run but could make a bold bid from the front. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (25/1 +38%) Astrophysicist |
25/1(+38%) | (10) Astrophysicist 25/1, Remains a maiden after 16 NH runs. Modest winner at 10f on flat. 12/1, last of 10 in handicap chase at Tramore (15.5f, heavy) 14 days ago. Well beaten in two runs this month and looks a most unlikely player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CROI CORCRA takes a significant drop in trip here but may be worth siding with as she comes here in fine form after an impressive win at Tramore a fortnight ago. The Soldier Of Fortune mare settled things in good style then, recording a seven-length success, and around a more galloping track she may have the gears to operate at this trip. Womalko was a winner here when last seen in December of last year. He has to be respected despite returning from a lengthy enough absence. Carrolls Cottage was pulled up when last seen here in April but has slid to an attractive mark and is one to note on his return.
WOMALKO was on the resurgence when last seen 10 months ago and he's still well treated based on hurdling efforts, so he gets the nod over Croi Corcra, who arrives on the up. Midnight It Is also merits respect.
A chance is taken that WOMALKO will be fit enough to land this after almost 11 months off

Still looking for his first win, but could go well again with Oisin Murphy on board. 12-race maiden; 2nd to Fayasel over C&D latest; Oisin Murphy replaces 7lb claimer today. |

2nd (1) (8/11 +39%) The Caltonian |
8/11(+39%) | (1) The Caltonian 8/11, Has shown improved form fitted with blinkers and switched to all-weather when winning his last 2 starts, landing the odds (4/6) in 8-runner handicap at this C&D 3 days ago. Can score again in his current mood. 2-2 in blinkers/AW, winning easily on both occasions; obvious chance despite 10lb penalty. |

3rd (6) (33/1 -136%) Daring Guest |
33/1(-136%) | (6) Daring Guest 33/1, Course winner. After 13 months off, probably needed run when fifth of 10 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, soft, 12/1) 35 days ago. Could take a step forward from that effort returned to all-weather. Wide-margin AW winner in August; less good on turf since and opposable in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (18/1 +10%) Keep Me Stable |
18/1(+10%) | (5) Keep Me Stable 18/1, Below form faced with softer ground on her last 2 starts, tenth of 12 in handicap at Ayr (7.2f, soft, 40/1) 23 days ago. Needs to get back on track as she makes her second start on all-weather. Slow going excuses last two defeats & threatening beforehand; yard also runs The Caltonian. |

5th (8) (18/1 -29%) Wadi Bani |
18/1(-29%) | (8) Wadi Bani 18/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Never a threat when seventh of 13 in handicap (11/1) at Kempton (1m) 22 days ago. Blinkers now reached for. Exposed maiden for whom the new headgear needs to have a positive effect. |

6th (3) (12/1 -33%) Major Gatsby |
12/1(-33%) | (3) Major Gatsby 12/1, In refitted visor, recorded his fourth success at this C&D when landing 12-runner handicap (5/2) 17 days ago by neck from Liberty Breeze. Remains on a workable mark so he could be thereabouts once more. Fourth C&D win when getting up late 17 days ago; should run well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (9/2 +36%) Fayasel |
9/2(+36%) | (4) Fayasel 9/2, With cheekpieces reapplied, bounced back to best when winning 12-runner handicap (4/1) at this C&D 17 days ago by 1¼ lengths from Guiteau. Enters calculations. Two C&D wins this year, latterly 17 days ago in a good Topspeed figure; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (125/1 -525%) Brave Display |
125/1(-525%) | (11) Brave Display 125/1, C&D winner. Returned to form when second of 12 in handicap (9/1) at Southwell (6.1f) in April. Off 6 months ahead of first run for yard after leaving Phil McEntee. Multiple winner but returns from a break for a new yard and in different headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (18/1 -64%) Liberty Breeze |
18/1(-64%) | (9) Liberty Breeze 18/1, Produced her best effort of the season when neck second of 12 to the reopposing Major Gatsby in handicap (11/2) at this C&D 17 days ago. Can give another good account with cheekpieces reapplied. Chased home Major Gatsby over C&D 17 days ago; should give her running once again. |

10th (12) (33/1 -136%) Crystal Dawn |
33/1(-136%) | (12) Crystal Dawn 33/1, After 3 months off, some encouragement on first run since leaving Ronald Thompson when 2¼ lengths fifth of 12 to Major Gatsby in handicap (11/2) at this C&D 17 days ago. Interesting having dropped below her last winning mark. Encouragement behind Major Gatsby on her recent stable debut; each-way claims. |

11th (10) (250/1 -658%) Berkshire Cruz |
250/1(-658%) | (10) Berkshire Cruz 250/1, After 4 months off (had another wind op), shaped as if better for the run when twelfth of 15 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 100/1) 17 days ago. Others still preferred, though. Had two wind ops this year; no show for current yard; opposable from a wide stall. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
THE CALTONIAN arrives here on the back of two recent victories and he is taken to land the hat-trick, despite carrying a 10lb double penalty. Fellow C&D winner Fayasel can give him the most to think about, while upholding the form of his recent win over Guiteau (second). There was only a neck between Major Gatsby (first) and Liberty Breeze (second) when they met over C&D recently and both are likely to be thereabouts.
THE CALTONIAN has been transformed by the application of blinkers and a switch to all-weather, making it back-to-back wins in good style when scoring at this C&D at the beginning of the week. He can go on to land the hat-trick, with Major Gatsby and Fayasel the main dangers as they also arrive on the back of recent C&D victories.
Linda Perratt's rapid improver THE CALTONIAN (nap) can make it 3-3 on AW since blinkers went on.

1st (2) (13/2 -86%) Travail D'Orfevre |
13/2(-86%) | (2) Travail D'Orfevre 13/2, Bumper winner who opened account over hurdles at Kelso in April 2022. Placed all 3 starts following a wind op in the second half of last season, including when a close third over this C&D when last seen in March, and he has to enter calculations. 0-6 over fences but he went close over C&D in final run last season; respected on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/4 +44%) Gandhi Maker |
9/4(+44%) | (1) Gandhi Maker 9/4, Off the mark at Newcastle in January and backed that up with a decisive victory at Sedgefield (17f, good to soft) the following month. Shaped well over that C&D on his recent reappearance and big player with that run under his belt. Dual chase winner but he's been well held in last two runs and looks weighted near best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (2/1 +64%) Breeze Of Wind |
2/1(+64%) | (6) Breeze Of Wind 2/1, Didn't trouble the judge in a trio of runs over hurdles for Barry Murtagh and while this Irish point winner could be seen in a better light now switched to fences for new connections, Gandhi Maker is almost certainly the stable first-string. Struggled over hurdles but he needs checking in the market on his handicap/chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -85%) Cudgel |
12/1(-85%) | (5) Cudgel 12/1, Scored twice at Hexham during the spring and creditable third of 6 on recent reappearance at that course (15.6f, heavy). Should make his presence felt off the same mark, but perhaps vulnerable for a win purposes. Hexham specialist but he's been held there in his last two runs and others look stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (7/1 -40%) Coolmoyne |
7/1(-40%) | (4) Coolmoyne 7/1, Still looking for first win but has proved consistent over fences, making the frame again when reeled in close home on return at Sedgefield (19.3f, good to soft) recently. Likely to give it a good shot back down in trip here. 0-13 but he went close at Sedgefield on his recent return; respected back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (11/2 -22%) Casa Tall |
11/2(-22%) | (3) Casa Tall 11/2, Three-time winner over fences in 2021 and while it's been a while since he last troubled the judge, this 9-y-o has slipped a long way in the weights and has to be feared on debut for Ben Pauling. On long losing run but he's on a dangerous mark and needs a close look for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
COOLMOYNE returned from a break in good style last time when only collared late on at Sedgefield, and this looks a decent opportunity to go one better. The first two pulled clear on that occasion and a 2lb rise in the weights could prove lenient. Travail D'Orfevre is also entitled to respect should he return to the track in similar form to his third over C&D in March, while Cudgel makes most appeal of the remainder.
The most appealing of these is GANDHI MAKER, who wasn't given a hard time on his return at Sedgefield and he should be sharper now. Casa Tall makes his debut for new connections on a potentially handy mark and is feared most ahead of Travail d'Orfevre.
The vote goes to COOLMOYNE (nap), who was only just caught at Sedgefield on his recent return and is a big player dropped back in trip.

1st (2) (7/2 +65%) Moveit Like Minnie |
7/2(+65%) | (2) Moveit Like Minnie 7/2, Improved performer in a tongue strap last term, resuming winning ways at Huntingdon in January before a fine third in a better quality event back there next time. However, form has dipped since and Warwick reappearance effort wasn't overly encouraging. Won two big-field handicaps last season but seems to have lost his way; often too free. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 -25%) Javert Allen |
5/1(-25%) | (4) Javert Allen 5/1, Probably didn't achieve much when making a successful debut at Bangor last November, but built on that when second to a useful type over this C&D (soft) in January. Unexposed and should have more to offer now that he goes down the handicap route. Made promising start to career in juvenile hurdles last season; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/2 +0%) Jeudidee |
7/2(+0%) | (5) Jeudidee 7/2, Bumper winner who created a good impression in making a successful start over hurdles in a first-time tongue strap at Worcester in August. Added to his tally in good style in an Exeter novice (18.5f, good) a fortnight ago and while more is needed now handicapping, he's one to be interested in. 2-3 in novice races; won pretty easily at Exeter this month; big player on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (13/2 -44%) Nibras Gold |
13/2(-44%) | (1) Nibras Gold 13/2, Won in tidy fashion from the front at Ffos Las in May and hasn't finished any worse than third in 5 outings since. Current mark probably doesn't leave much wiggle room, but he needs considering all the same. Has remained in good form since winning in May but may need good or faster ground. |

5th (6) (13/2 +13%) Charles St |
13/2(+13%) | (6) Charles St 13/2, Sold out of George Boughey's yard for 50,000 gns in August 2022 and has hit the crossbar on each of his last 5 starts in this sphere, including in a first-time visor over C&D (good) last time. Should be in the mix once again, but he doesn't look entirely straightforward. Second on six of his seven hurdling starts, most recently over C&D a fortnight ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (25/1 -150%) Passionate Pursuit |
25/1(-150%) | (8) Passionate Pursuit 25/1, Fourth in Chepstow bumper on Rules debut and stepped up on that when just touched off in a Wincanton maiden on hurdles bow last November. Below par on final start of last season, but she's in good hands and still has time on her side. Unexposed mare who went close in a maiden hurdle last autumn; possible improver. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (9/1 -20%) Sisterandbrother |
9/1(-20%) | (7) Sisterandbrother 9/1, Has taken well to hurdling, opening his account at the second attempt at Huntingdon in May. Placed all 3 subsequent starts, most recently finishing third of 7 off this mark at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good), and should be thereabouts granted a strong pace to aim at. Fair Flat-racer who has taken pretty well to hurdling this year; may prefer good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (12/1 +40%) Scherbobalob |
12/1(+40%) | (9) Scherbobalob 12/1, Modest maiden on Flat but better over hurdles, scoring in good style over C&D in April. Not disgraced back here when last seen the following month, but others look stronger on this occasion. C&D winner in April but not in same form on next two outings; returns from a break today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Representing the in-form Kim Bailey yard, JEUDIDEE gained a second triumph in novice hurdles when scoring with ease at Exeter a fortnight ago. The four-year-old makes his handicap debut off what looks a potentially lenient mark and he could take a lot of beating. Nibras Gold posted a fourth consecutive runner-up effort at Exeter recently and he may have to play second fiddle once more, with Sisterandbrother making most appeal of the remainder.
JAVERT ALLEN couldn't live with Spirit d'Aunou in a C&D juvenile event when last seen in January, but that rival is pretty useful (winner twice again since) and he has been handed what could turn out to be a lenient mark for this handicap debut. Indeed, the 4-y-o is unexposed and gets the nod ahead Jeudidee, who has won 2 of his last 3 starts, and the consistent Nibras Gold.
Top of the list is handicap debutant JEUDIDEE (nap), who drew clear to win a recent Exeter novice very comfortably.

3/1(+10%) | (9) Squeaker 3/1, Fair form. 7/4, creditable fourth of 9 in novice at Chelmsford (7f) 21 days ago. Up in trip. Makes tapeta debut. Should be in the mix again. Promise over 7f but looking exposed already and the new trip needs to give her a lift. |

18/5(+35%) | (4) Tayala 18/5, Fair form when third over 6f at Goodwood on second start. Promise over 6f; some encouragement for new trip on breeding; has the form to feature. |

66/1(-32%) | (2) Chartwell's Lady 66/1, 40/1, last of 8 in novice at Chelmsford (7f) on debut 21 days ago. Up in trip. Needs to have come on a lot. 40-1, green and well beaten on this month's Chelmsford debut (7f); longer-term prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (9/4 +25%) Middlesex |
9/4(+25%) | (3) Middlesex 9/4, Fair form. 4/1, second of 12 in maiden at Kempton (1m) 15 days ago. Another prominent showing likely. Placed in all 3 runs, including C&D; vulnerable to improvers but likely to run her race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Runner-up on her last two starts, Middlesex merits the utmost respect in her bid to go one better, but preference is for TAYALA. Ed Walker's charge has looked outpaced over 6f on each of her three starts and her pedigree would suggest she ought to be more effective over this longer trip. Make A Scene makes enough appeal on paper to warrant a market check ahead of her first start.
It's possible that TIPTOE could come on quite a bit for her recent debut so she might be worth siding with to improve past more established rivals such as Middlesex, Squeaker and Tayala. Mon Etoile is a newcomer to keep an eye on in the betting.
Middlesex finished in front of TIPTOE at Kempton two weeks ago but may not confirm those placings today.

2nd (2) (2/1 +27%) He's A Gentleman |
2/1(+27%) | (2) He's A Gentleman 2/1, Won 10-runner handicap (10/3) at this C&D 23 days ago, keeping on well. Big player up 2 lb with Oisin Murphy again in the hot-seat. Narrow C&D win 23 days ago (3rd won since); 2lb rise shouldn't prevent another good run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (40/1 -82%) Operatic Artist |
40/1(-82%) | (9) Operatic Artist 40/1, 14/1, first run since leaving Joseph Patrick O'Brien when tenth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 30 days ago. Needs to get back on track now switched to tapeta. Down the field on stable debut (1m2f, AW) last month; early days but others look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (11/1 +67%) Lion Tamer |
11/1(+67%) | (7) Lion Tamer 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 50/1, first run since leaving John & Thady Gosden when ninth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 22 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and improvement needed. Didn't progress for the Gosdens; low-key stable debut at Kempton three weeks ago; risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (5/1 +41%) Nikki's Girl |
5/1(+41%) | (3) Nikki's Girl 5/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in August. 12/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at this C&D 23 days ago, slowly away. May have needed that run following a 9-week break and she's worth considering. Below par last time but unexposed at the trip and C&D win in August was decisive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (7/1 -8%) Headingley |
7/1(-8%) | (1) Headingley 7/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2021. Visored for 1st time, last of 6 in handicap at Pontefract (10f, good, 5/1), weakening quickly. 8 lb higher back on the AW and 14-month absence to overcome, too. Badly out of sorts when last seen & returns from long absence; risky despite reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (18/1 -112%) Locked N' Loaded |
18/1(-112%) | (11) Locked N' Loaded 18/1, C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 5/2, fifth of 6 in handicap at this course (7.2f). Off 7 months and steps back up in trip. Will be a threat if ready to roll. Conditions to suit but absent since a modest effort over 7f here in March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (22/1 -57%) Firm Handshake |
22/1(-57%) | (10) Firm Handshake 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 22/1, respectable sixth of 11 in maiden at Leopardstown (8f, good) 63 days ago. First run for yard after leaving W. McCreery and will need to take a step forward if he's to make a winning handicap debut. Didn't build on promising debut in 4 more runs in Ireland; market instructive for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (11/2 +69%) Havana Goldrush |
11/2(+69%) | (12) Havana Goldrush 11/2, C&D winner. Creditable fifth of 11 in handicap (7/1) at Bath (8f, good to firm) 43 days ago. Now 3 lb below last winning mark and each-way chance. Had a busy summer but retains his enthusiasm and should run his race again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HE'S A GENTLEMAN was able to capitalise on a good spell of form when winning over C&D earlier this month. The son of Dark Angel must compete from a 2lb higher mark here, but he remains well treated on past exploits and is fancied to repeat the dose. Firm Handshake showed some ability when trained in Ireland and is worth a market check ahead of his stable debut, while recent Southwell scorer Light Up Our Stars is also noted.
The obvious starting point is HE'S A GENTLEMAN, who snapped a losing run with Oisin Murphy doing the steering over C&D earlier this month and he looks capable of defying a 2 lb rise in the weights. Nikki's Girl's latest effort is probably best excused and she looks dangerous, while Light Up Our Stars and Masqool are also shortlisted.
Nikki's Girl still has potential at this trip but MASQOOL can quickly bounce back from his modest run on heavy ground last time.

3.5/1(-40%) | (2) Bright 3.5/1, Posted fair form when second of 6 in maiden (6/4) at Ripon (6f, good) when last seen in June. Since joined new yard and holds strong claims. Placed in last two runs (5f/6f) for the Charlton yard and he's respected on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3.33/1 +45%) Rooska |
3.33/1(+45%) | (6) Rooska 3.33/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Third of 5 in minor event (6/4) at Redcar (6f, good to firm). Off 124 days. One of likelier contenders. Disappointing when last seen in June and he needs to resume his progress on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (2.5/1 +9%) Kaidu |
2.5/1(+9%) | (4) Kaidu 2.5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Posted solid fourth of 12 in maiden (85/40) at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) when last seen in July. Since joined Archie Watson and is one for shortlist. Sets the standard on best form for Clive Cox and he looks interesting on this drop to 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (2.5/1 +0%) Moon Flight |
2.5/1(+0%) | (5) Moon Flight 2.5/1, Back on track when creditable second of 6 in maiden (5/6) at Newcastle (7.1f) 6 days ago. Down in trip. Likely contender. Second in two of his last four runs and he looks worth a try at this new trip; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/1 +45%) Advantage |
11/1(+45%) | (1) Advantage 11/1, Once-raced maiden. 25/1, seventh of 12 in maiden at Windsor (6f, good to firm) on debut 17 days ago. Improvement required. Has good pedigree but he made a low-key start at Windsor (25-1) two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (50/1 -100%) Darkened Edge |
50/1(-100%) | (8) Darkened Edge 50/1, Twice-raced maiden. 12/1, fifth of 8 in maiden at Nottingham (5f, soft). Off 100 days. Up against it. Well-held fifth in both her runs and has a lot to find back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (150/1 -127%) Almavillalobas |
150/1(-127%) | (7) Almavillalobas 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. 250/1, last of 12 in maiden at Kempton (7f) 10 days ago. Down in trip. Hard to recommend. Massive prices and she's finished last in two 7f events at Kempton since August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (40/1 -186%) Captain Bentley |
40/1(-186%) | (3) Captain Bentley 40/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Showed first form, dropped in trip, when second of 7 in minor event over C&D (150/1) 23 days ago. Each-way claims. Runner-up at a big price over C&D latest but he needs another major step forward here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The vote goes to BRIGHT, who chased home a couple of decent types over C&D in May. He then finished second to a now 85-rated rival at Ripon, while conceding 5lb, and this looks like a good opportunity to go one better. Moon Flight also brings solid form to the table and is unlikely to be far away, while others to note include Rooska and Kaidu.
Preference is for BRIGHT, who ran well over C&D for his previous yard earlier this year. Moon Flight and Kaidu should also go well.
This looks a bit tricky but KAIDU sets the standard and he gets the vote ahead of Moon Flight and Bright.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/2 +55%) Starproof |
9/2(+55%) | (5) Starproof 9/2, Not the most consistent but has scored twice this term and ran up to best when third over C&D on penultimate start. Enters calculations. Two 6f turf wins this summer; ran well over C&D last month; had excuse latest; respected. |

3rd (6) (16/1 -191%) Ithra |
16/1(-191%) | (6) Ithra 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, first run since leaving Alice Haynes when very good fourth of 11 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Warrants respect. Promising stable debut at Kempton two weeks ago; still low mileage; needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (4/1 +27%) Absolutelyflawless |
4/1(+27%) | (2) Absolutelyflawless 4/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in May. Tenth of 12 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 33/1) 61 days ago. Claims on best form. Unbeaten in two AW runs, including C&D; mixed on turf since May's win but on a fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (12/1 -71%) Jax Edge |
12/1(-71%) | (9) Jax Edge 12/1, Back to winning ways at Chepstow in June and acquitted herself well in defeat since, latest when second of 8 in handicap at Bath (5f, firm, 2/1) 50 days ago, running on. Merits consideration on tapeta debut. 3 turf wins & ran career best when second at Bath seven weeks ago; needs more on AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (3/1 +50%) Belle Fourche |
3/1(+50%) | (7) Belle Fourche 3/1, C&D winner who has run well the last twice, latest when second of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 12 days ago. Respected. Two good runs since visor went on; can race off the same mark and one for the shortlist. |

7th (8) (28/1 -155%) Caesars Pearl |
28/1(-155%) | (8) Caesars Pearl 28/1, Winner at Pontefract (6f) in June but been disappointing since. Something to prove at present. Pontefract win off 1lb lower in June; off since quiet run back there in August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (33/1 +18%) Pulcheria |
33/1(+18%) | (4) Pulcheria 33/1, 33/1, first run since leaving H-A. Pantall when seventh of 10 in minor event at Kempton (7f) 71 days ago. Makes tapeta/handicap debut. Market check advised. Better than the distance beaten suggests on stable debut in August (7f); drop to 6f a plus. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
An open contest sees ITHRA get the nod after a very decent effort over 6f at Kempton, where she was only beaten three quarters of a length despite finishing fourth. Archie Watson's charge offered a bold bid from the front on that occasion and she looks primed to go close once more off the same mark. Belle Fourche can give the selection most to think about after a good second over 6f at Chelmsford, while similar comments apply to Jax Edge.
JAX EDGE was only beaten by an improver at Bath last time and remains on a workable mark. She gets the nod in a tricky-looking contest. Belle Fourche and Starproof can also make their presence felt.
A fair race of its type and ITHRA is taken to build on the promise of her close fourth at Kempton on this month's stable debut.

1st (3) (5/2 +29%) Hill Station |
5/2(+29%) | (3) Hill Station 5/2, 12/1, good second of 12 in handicap at this C&D 19 days ago, well positioned. Should give another good account. Inconsistent 21-race maiden but he was a clear second over C&D last time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (16/5 +60%) Tiberio Force |
16/5(+60%) | (8) Tiberio Force 16/5, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 4/1, bit below form fourth of 14 in handicap at Thirsk (12f, soft) 38 days ago. May have found the race coming too soon last time, so could get back on track. Inconsistent type who was well held at Thirsk last time and that took his record to 1-16. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (10/1 -54%) Moon Over The Sea |
10/1(-54%) | (1) Moon Over The Sea 10/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 10 runs this year. 12/1, respectable sixth of 11 in handicap at this C&D 19 days ago, left poorly placed. Better than the result the last twice, so not without hope. Three wins for Tony Carroll but he's not threatened in last three runs; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (12/1 -71%) Debby's Delight |
12/1(-71%) | (12) Debby's Delight 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 6 in minor event at Newcastle (8f, 100/1) 24 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Should progress and worthy of a market check. Unexposed filly with a good pedigree and she needs watching in market on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (4/1 +27%) Delvey |
4/1(+27%) | (2) Delvey 4/1, Good second of 11 in handicap at this C&D (7/1) 19 days ago, sticking to task. Can go one better if in the same form. 0-10 but she went very close over C&D last time and is a big player if she backs that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (12/1 +25%) Jenny Ren |
12/1(+25%) | (5) Jenny Ren 12/1, 3-time C&D winner. 6/1, respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 19 days ago, missing break. Not completely dismissed. Defied this mark over C&D in March but she's not hit the same level since; bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (20/1 -25%) Metric |
20/1(-25%) | (6) Metric 20/1, Winner at Leicester in August. 11/2, ninth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) 30 days ago. Up in trip. Not easy to make a case for. Won at Leicester (1m2f) in August but she's been disappointing in three runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (10/1 -25%) Captain St Lucifer |
10/1(-25%) | (9) Captain St Lucifer 10/1, One win from 33 Flat runs. Eighteen runs since last win in 2021. Creditable second of 11 in handicap at this course (9.5f, 11/2) 31 days ago. Up in trip. Not taken lightly. Runner-up here (9.4f) latest but he's now 1-33 and still has stamina to prove at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (80/1 -186%) Al Kherb |
80/1(-186%) | (7) Al Kherb 80/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2018. 100/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Windsor (11.4f, heavy) 3 days ago. Three poor efforts since returning from a year off and he has plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (10/1 -11%) Young Winston |
10/1(-11%) | (10) Young Winston 10/1, One win from 32 Flat runs. Good third of 11 in handicap (17/2) at Lingfield (10f, AW) 21 days ago, well positioned. Back up in trip. Worthy of respect. Record of 1-32 but he went close at Lingfield latest and has possibilities back up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Delvey ran on gamely when denied by a short head over 1m4f here last time and she looks likely to be in the mix once again, but raised 2lb in the ratings, she may be susceptible to some better treated rivals such as CAPTAIN ST LUCIFER. The six-year-old ran his best race for a while when second over the extended 1m1f at this track last time and this extra yardage can help him to defy a 1lb rise. Hill Station is also respected.
DELVEY has slipped to a handy mark and was just denied over C&D last time, so she's worth a chance to gain compensation. Hill Station also arrives on the back of a solid showing and is regarded as a danger, while it would be no surprise to see some improvement from Debby's Delight upped in trip for her handicap debut.
The vote goes to DELVEY, who had a near-miss off a reduced mark over C&D last time and is a big player if repeating that performance.

1st (2) (2.75/1 +50%) Tiger Beetle |
2.75/1(+50%) | (2) Tiger Beetle 2.75/1, C&D winner but that's his only win in 22 starts. Sixth of 8 in handicap (15/2) at Bath (11.6f, good to firm) 64 days ago. Mark continues to slide. On reduced mark but he's 1-22 and has finished down the field in his last six runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (5/1 +23%) Prince Ali |
5/1(+23%) | (4) Prince Ali 5/1, Course winner over 8.6f in September. Respectable fourth of 9 over C&D (11/8) 17 days ago, although City Escape was ahead of him. Has had a win and two near-misses here in his last four starts and he's in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (33/1 -136%) Cavalluccio |
33/1(-136%) | (1) Cavalluccio 33/1, Largely consistent in the first half of 2023, including 2 wins on AW, and might have needed his recent return from wind surgery after 4 months off. Should be sharper now. Dual AW winner but he failed to beat a rival over C&D last time and needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (6.5/1 -44%) City Escape |
6.5/1(-44%) | (3) City Escape 6.5/1, Three-time C&D winner, the latest in March. Added a couple of 1¼m Ffos Las wins at the end of the summer and arguably looked a little unlucky not to complete a hat-trick when a close third here 17 days ago, caught further back than ideal. Big shout. Dual C&D winner who went close back here in her hat-trick bid last time; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/2 -38%) Concert Boy |
11/2(-38%) | (6) Concert Boy 11/2, AW winner off 4 lb higher in May. Some of his recent efforts have been quite encouraging and he can have his latest Newcastle run ignored (caught too far back and met trouble). One to consider. On dangerous mark but he's hard to predict and is untried at this trip; risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (15/2 +46%) Storymaker |
15/2(+46%) | (7) Storymaker 15/2, Fair maiden. Creditable seventh of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford (1¼m) 14 days ago. Ten-race maiden who was down the field at Chelmsford last time and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (14/1 -87%) Huda Star |
14/1(-87%) | (8) Huda Star 14/1, Just modest form in her qualifying runs (all AW) but has gone off at 9/2 or less on each occasion so is presumably thought capable of better. No surprise were she to take a step forward now handicapping. Unexposed handicap newcomer and she needs a close look for in-form yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (100/1 -257%) Strategic Fortune |
100/1(-257%) | (9) Strategic Fortune 100/1, Three-time C&D winner, the latest in February. Well beaten back here in his 2 runs since but worth a look in the betting. Triple C&D winner but he's struggled here last twice and needs to turn things around. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (18/1 +18%) Mirabello Bay |
18/1(+18%) | (10) Mirabello Bay 18/1, C&D winner who added 3 more AW wins last winter. Not obviously at the top of his game at present and needs first-time cheekpieces to give him a lift. Four-time AW winner but he's lost his way and needs a major revival; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (16/1 +0%) Snooze Lane |
16/1(+0%) | (5) Snooze Lane 16/1, C&D winner. Below form 10¾ lengths fifth of 9 to Prince Ali in handicap at this course (8.6f) 47 days ago, left poorly placed. Cheekpieces on first time. Others more persuasive. Dual C&D winner but he was beaten 11l here last time and has some questions to answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (50/1 -52%) Gypsy Whisper |
50/1(-52%) | (11) Gypsy Whisper 50/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Respectable sixth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (1m) 9 days ago. Has work to do. 6yo who is 0-15 on AW and her last turf win was 15 months ago; down the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (9/1 -13%) Caramay |
9/1(-13%) | (12) Caramay 9/1, Modest maiden. Second over C&D last month but not in quite the same form when fifth of 11 over C&D 19 days ago. 0-8 but she went very close over C&D on her penultimate run; not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
CITY ESCAPE was only narrowly denied a hat-trick when third over C&D last time and she looks primed to go well once again. Mark Loughnane's charge runs off the same mark and she can get back to winning ways. Prince Ali was nearly two lengths behind the selection on that occasion and, dropped 1lb in the ratings, he could get closer. Huda Star can also have a say on her handicap bow.
CITY ESCAPE arrives at the top of her game and can gain compensation for a slightly unlucky defeat over C&D 17 days ago. Concert Boy is lurking on a dangerous mark and had excuses last time so he's second choice. The unexposed Huda Star is a possible improver in handicaps and needs keeping an eye on in the market.
Preference is for CITY ESCAPE, who has won twice at Ffos Las since August and went close back over C&D in her hat-trick bid last time.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
