1st (1) (6/4 +33%) Asta La Pasta |
6/4(+33%) | (1) Asta La Pasta 6/4, Confirmed debut promise when winning 6-runner bumper at Market Rasen (16.6f, good) in February and holds obvious claims on switch to hurdling.
2nd (5) (11/1 -57%) Brook Bay |
11/1(-57%) | (5) Brook Bay 11/1, Expensive purchase after comfortably winning sole start in Irish points last November but proved to be a disappointment on yard/NH debut in Kempton bumper in February. Still early days, though. Makes hurdles bow with tongue strap on for first time.
3rd (10) (18/1 +55%) Royal Thunder |
18/1(+55%) | (10) Royal Thunder 18/1, Fair maiden on the Flat who wasn't seen to best effect when sixth of 9 in handicap at Kempton in February. Market check advised on first crack at hurdling.
4th (9) (13/2 +46%) Nordic Tiger |
13/2(+46%) | (9) Nordic Tiger 13/2, Ran to a fair level when 16¾ lengths fourth of 7 in claimer at Dax on hurdling debut in July, in touch when blundering badly and nearly unseating rider 3 out. Since joined Harry Derham and looks a likely improver.
5th (3) (11/2 +15%) Borodale |
11/2(+15%) | (3) Borodale 11/2, Ran with credit in a couple of bumpers earlier this year and is worth a second look in the market on hurdles debut.
6th (6) (10/3 -33%) King William Rufus |
10/3(-33%) | (6) King William Rufus 10/3, Showed plenty when placed all 3 bumper outings last season and appeals as the type to take well to hurdling.
7th (8) (25/1 -56%) Mr Hope Street |
25/1(-56%) | (8) Mr Hope Street 25/1, Failed to progress from debut when fifth of 11 in bumper (8/1) at Wetherby (16f, soft) in March. In good hands, though, and can't be ruled out on hurdles bow.
8th (4) (14/1 -17%) Brandt |
14/1(-17%) | (4) Brandt 14/1, Stepped up on debut form when second of 12 in bumper at Kilbeggan (15.1f, good to soft) 171 days ago. Since joined Henry Oliver and market may prove best guide to claims on yard/hurdles debut.
9th (11) (250/1 -279%) Telefenney |
250/1(-279%) | (11) Telefenney 250/1, Finished well beaten in novice hurdle at Stratford on NH debut in April and is best watched for now.
10th (2) (66/1 -450%) Blagthebookies |
66/1(-450%) | (2) Blagthebookies 66/1, €47,000 3-y-o, £30,000 5-y-o, Walk In The Park gelding. Dam fair hurdle/chase winner up to 21f. Off mark in Irish points at third attempt in March and warrants respect on NH debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Jonjo O'Neill landed the corresponding event 12 months ago and he might repeat the dose with BROOK BAY. A winner between the flags in November last year, he failed to live up to market expectations when down the field on his Rules debut. The fact he was well supported suggests he's worth another chance and the switch to hurdles looks an added bonus. Asta La Pasta bolted up in a Market Rasen bumper in February and he merits respect now sent over timber. Borodale is also noted.
The market could prove the best indicator here but ASTA LA PASTA was a decisive winner of a Market Rasen bumper last term and gets the nod on his hurdling debut. King William Rufus and Nordic Tiger are also of interest.
King William Rufus has the best form in bumpers but ASTA LA PASTA impressed in his second Market Rasen bumper.

1st (3) (4/1 -20%) Bois Guillbert |
4/1(-20%) | (3) Bois Guillbert 4/1, Lightly-raced gelding who won his first 2 starts over timber last season and ended campaign with good third of 9 in juvenile at Hexham (16.2f, soft) in April. Likely more to come on switch to handicaps this term. 2-3 against own age group last season; open to improvement in handicaps this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (11/4 -38%) Autumn Return |
11/4(-38%) | (2) Autumn Return 11/4, Bounced back to best when registering third hurdle victory in 8-runner handicap at Perth (20.2f, good to soft) in April. Can go well fresh and must enter calculations. Did well during first season over hurdles and has good claims if fully tuned up for this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/3 +17%) Faithfulflyer |
10/3(+17%) | (5) Faithfulflyer 10/3, Had a productive first season for Sandy Thomson, scoring twice (at up to 23.8f) and finding further improvement when second of 14 in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (23.8f) in March. Had wind operation since and returns on a workable mark. Won twice last season; second in series final on latest start; resumes on stiff mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/2 +15%) Scots Poet |
11/2(+15%) | (6) Scots Poet 11/2, Resumed winning ways at Musselburgh (15.6f) in February and acquitted himself just as well in defeat thereafter, pulling clear of the remainder when second of 6 in handicap hurdle (9/4) at Perth (16.2f) in May. Shortlisted. Won at Musselburgh in February and remained in good form, last seen in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (17/2 +15%) Chase A Fortune |
17/2(+15%) | (4) Chase A Fortune 17/2, Made the most of a good opportunity to get off the mark in 9-runner maiden at Catterick (15.7f)) in February but couldn't build on that in 2 subsequent outings and doesn't look especially well treated on his handicap bow here. Won an uncompetitive maiden in February but signed off with a lesser effort in April. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (40/1 -150%) Frightened Rabbit |
40/1(-150%) | (8) Frightened Rabbit 40/1, Won at Hexham in re-fitted cheekpieces in May 2022 but little show since, including in 3 runs for this yard this summer. 1 lb out of the handicap. Ran well to a point on latest two outings and continues to slide down the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (6/1 +33%) Darkest Day |
6/1(+33%) | (7) Darkest Day 6/1, Chasing a course hat-trick after making all in a couple of handicaps (at up to 20.9f) last month. This looks tougher but he can't be ruled out. Dual course winner last month; back up in grade now but may have a fitness edge over some. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
AUTUMN RETURN progressed well during her first hurdling campaign and signed off with a good success at Perth. She returns to the fray off just a 3lb higher figure and can take full advantage. There is plenty in the way of opposition, though, with the four-year-old Bois Guillbert heading the list on his handicap debut. Scots Poet held his form well back in the spring, with Faithfulflyer and Chase A Fortune a couple more to consider.
Plenty with claims here including SCOTS POET, who looked unlucky not to score at Perth in May and has won after a break before. Bois Guillbert and Hidalgo de L'isle are feared most.

1st (2) (5/6 +40%) Booster Bob |
5/6(+40%) | (2) Booster Bob 5/6, Bit disappointing at Wetherby in April but had made a winning NH debut in Ayr bumper previously and remains with potential now sent hurdling. Hooded for first time. Won at Ayr (soft) in February; not so good in another bumper in April; still one to note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/3 +17%) Delgany Bobby Blue |
10/3(+17%) | (3) Delgany Bobby Blue 10/3, Shaped with a fair degree of promise under a considerate ride when runner-up in a Chepstow bumper in February. Never involved at same course the following month but warrants respect on hurdles bow. 2nd of 14 in bumper at Chepstow (good to soft) in between two poor shows; has had wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/1 -29%) Moarins Moarnin |
11/1(-29%) | (6) Moarins Moarnin 11/1, €75,000 3-y-o, £24,000 5-y-o, Getaway gelding. Half-brother to winning hurdler/useful chaser Arvico Bleu. Dam, ran once on Flat, closely related to smart bumper winner Samain. Wears hood. Trainer’s newcomers command respect. £24,000 5yo; half-brother to useful 2m-2m1f hurdle/chase winner Arvico Bleu; hooded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (28/1 +72%) Yes And Yes |
28/1(+72%) | (8) Yes And Yes 28/1, Placed in points but no impact in a couple of attempts over hurdles and makes little appeal on debut for new yard. Placed in two points, but soundly beaten at big odds in two hurdle races for John Groucott. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (13/2 +35%) Present De Vango |
13/2(+35%) | (7) Present De Vango 13/2, Shaped like a stayer when fifth in bumper at Market Rasen on NH debut in March and was a similar story on switch to hurdling at Warwick (16f) in May, left behind 3 out. Looks one for handicaps over longer trips. Showed some ability in a point, bumper and maiden hurdle but more will surely be needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (200/1 -100%) Lifetime Adventure |
200/1(-100%) | (5) Lifetime Adventure 200/1, Only hinted at ability in 2 bumpers for Stuart Crawford and offered little for this yard since, including on Kelso hurdles debut last month. Well held in his three bumpers (first two for Stuart Crawford) and a Kelso novice hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (17/2 -143%) Alright Dai |
17/2(-143%) | (1) Alright Dai 17/2, Made the frame in a trio of bumpers but was well below that level when sixth of 9 in novice at Worcester (16f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 20 days ago. Bit to prove now. Reportedly boiled over beforehand when tailed off at 4-1 in maiden hurdle three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (25/1 -79%) Passengerontheship |
25/1(-79%) | (9) Passengerontheship 25/1, £17,000 4-y-o, Pillar Coral gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Benign Dictator and fair hurdler West Is Awake. Placed in Irish point and is likely a longer-term prospect. Third in May on second attempt in an Irish point and sold for £17,000 soon afterwards. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Ayr bumper winner Booster Bob sports a first-time hood ahead of his reappearance and he appeals as the type to thrive over timber this season, but a chance can be taken on ALRIGHT DAI. Neil Mulholland's gelding lost his race before it had started, having boiled over in the preliminaries at Worcester last month. Market support would suggest better was expected, however, and an improved showing would come as no surprise. Passengerontheship heads the remainder.
Preference is for BOOSTER BOB, who won first time up in a bumper last term and hails from a yard in fine form. Delgany Bobby Blue and Duhallow Tommy can also make their presence felt.
Alright Dai and Delgany Bobby Blue are likely players but BOOSTER BOB may be the most interesting candidate.

1st (9) (16/1 -33%) Slugger |
16/1(-33%) | (9) Slugger 16/1, Ocovango gelding who has filled the runners-up spot on 2 of his 4 starts in bumpers, latterly at Newcastle (16.9f) in May. Interesting what the market makes of him now hurdling on return/following wind surgery. Second in two bumpers; others have stronger form but improvement possible now over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (1/1 -20%) Esprit Du Potier |
1/1(-20%) | (6) Esprit Du Potier 1/1, Landed 2 of his first 3 starts in bumpers at Ayr (at 2m) and plenty to like about the way he went about things when sixth in 20-runner Aintree Grade 2 on final start in April. Very much the type to make his mark over hurdles and he's respected on return to action. Two-time bumper winner who brings considerable potential to this hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (2.25/1 +10%) Dutch Schultz |
2.25/1(+10%) | (2) Dutch Schultz 2.25/1, Put experience to good use when opening account in this sphere at Wexford (16.7f) in August, leading between last 2 and going clear. Held when falling last on chase debut at Kilbeggan since but no surprise to see him play a part returned to timber. Won a maiden at Wexford in August and he's a leading player under a 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/1 +0%) Duleek Street |
5/1(+0%) | (1) Duleek Street 5/1, Fair maiden on the Flat who stood out on best form and, in first-time cheekpieces/refitted with a tongue strap, he opened his account with good bit to spare in a Cartmel maiden (17.2f, soft) 6 weeks ago. No reason why he won't be thereabouts again under a penalty. Won by 10l at Cartmel in August and this Irish raider is respected under a 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 +40%) Stylish Recruit |
12/1(+40%) | (5) Stylish Recruit 12/1, £16,000 5-y-o, Ask gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3m) Lead On. Wears tongue strap. Got off mark in Irish points at fourth attempt (awarded race, Apr 21) so he needs a check in the betting on Rules/hurdles bow. Promoted to first in his final Irish point and has joined a good yard for his rules career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (200/1 +0%) Mekbat |
200/1(+0%) | (8) Mekbat 200/1, Modest maiden on Flat (stays 1m), well below form last 2 starts. Not an obvious type for this discipline. Modest maiden on the Flat; makes his hurdle debut and others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (200/1 -33%) Swashbuckler |
200/1(-33%) | (10) Swashbuckler 200/1, Fairly useful maiden at best on Flat (stays 1¼m) bought cheaply on the back of 3 disappointing Flat runs for Tom Lacey and not much to shout about over hurdles for present yard. Can only be watched. His first two hurdle starts have yielded a heavy defeat and an early fall. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (33/1 +34%) Gainsbourg |
33/1(+34%) | (4) Gainsbourg 33/1, Revived by application of blinkers when landing back-to-back handicaps at Ayr this summer but not in same form from inflated mark last 2 starts and he shaped like a non-stayer on sole previous try in this discipline. Two Flat wins this summer (1m/7f) but stamina is a concern now back over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (125/1 +17%) C The Bunny Run |
125/1(+17%) | (3) C The Bunny Run 125/1, Dylan Thomas gelding who went with little promise when pulled up in a maiden hurdle over further here 26 days ago. Tongue tie quickly reached for. In good hands but he was pulled up at 18-1 on last month's debut here (2m5f, good). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ESPRIT DU POTIER showed promise in bumpers last season and his sixth-placed finish in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree in April is the best piece of form on offer. Related to two hurdles winners in France, Lucinda Russell's gelding should be ready to go on his debut over timber and a bold showing can be expected. Irish raiders Dutch Schultz and Duleek Street are feared most, although Slugger is another notable hurdles debutant returning after wind surgery.
ESPRIT DU POTIER went the right way in bumpers last term, successful twice at Ayr prior to a solid sixth in an Aintree Grade 2 on his final start in April. Appealing as the type to make his mark in this sphere, he could be worth siding with to come out on top with his yard in good form. Last-time-out winners Dutch Schultz and Duleek Street head up the dangers.

1st (1) (18/5 +10%) Chasing Fire |
18/5(+10%) | (1) Chasing Fire 18/5, £170,000 buy after point win who looked a potential star when landing his sole bumper/first 3 starts over hurdles. Down the field in last year's Supreme and didn't seem to relish step up to 20f back at Cheltenham final outing in April. Remains a good prospect for chasing this campaign. Put in his place last two runs as novice hurdler; should still bring plenty of potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +44%) Pembroke |
9/4(+44%) | (3) Pembroke 9/4, Bumper/dual novice hurdle winner prior to finishing runner-up in Grade 2 at Cheltenham in January. Inexperience may have caught him out in the County Hurdle after but back on track when midfield in Aintree Grade 1 on final start. Highly likely he can make his mark in this sphere. Had wind op. Flop when favourite in County at Cheltenham; tongue tied final start; wind surgery since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (4/5 -60%) I Like To Move It |
4/5(-60%) | (2) I Like To Move It 4/5, Very smart hurdler who took his form up another notch last season, winning the Greatwood at Cheltenham prior to adding Grade 2 Kingwell to his tally at Wincanton in February. Never figured at Grade 1 level after but major claims now sent chasing with yard very much amongst the winners. Much the best form in this field; easily his two best runs last term were on good ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
With upwards of 19lb in hand on his mark over timber, Nigel Twiston-Davies would appear to have found the ideal opportunity for classy hurdler I LIKE TO MOVE IT. The son of Trans Island is bred to appreciate this switch to the larger obstacles and, granted a clean round of jumping, he should be hard to beat. Pembroke was far from disgraced in a Grade 1 at Aintree when last seen and could give the selection most to think about. Chasing Fire looks booked for third.
I LIKE TO MOVE IT was easily the best of these over hurdles, and retuning with his yard having hit the ground running, he's expected to prove tough to beat now his attentions switch to the larger obstacles. Pembroke may emerge as the chief threat.
The ground might not be ideal if it remains soft, and that is a concern, but I LIKE TO MOVE IT has easily the best hurdles form.

1st (3) (5/1 -43%) Brandy McQueen |
5/1(-43%) | (3) Brandy McQueen 5/1, Has thrived in staying handicap hurdles last term, gaining fourth success at Musselburgh in February. Down the field off revised mark since. Makes chase debut. Progressive hurdler last season; can make a bold bid if taking to fences at first attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/2 -35%) Donny Boy |
9/2(-35%) | (1) Donny Boy 9/2, Point/bumper winner who shaped better than bare result on chase bow/return last year. Reportedly bled next time but back on track when second at Kelso over hurdles in March. Not seen since weak finish later that month. Has shown aptitude for chasing and he's a possible player now back over fences on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/4 +59%) Swallows Song |
9/4(+59%) | (4) Swallows Song 9/4, Made a winning start in Sedgefield bumper in November. Fair form so far over hurdles but is already beginning to look exposed. Chase debut. Connections waste little time in sending this 5yo over fences; interesting contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (5/4 +0%) Inis Oirr |
5/4(+0%) | (2) Inis Oirr 5/4, Came good at fourth attempt over hurdles in February, landing a class 2 novice at Musselburgh (23.8f). Faced a stiff task in Grade 2 company at Haydock (24.2f) but more of an impact handicap debut at Kelso. Remains capable of better now going chasing. Promising novice hurdler last season and there can be hope he'll improve for going chasing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
INIS OIRR made good progress over hurdles last season and looks the one to be with now that he switches to fences for the first time under Rules. Brandy Mcqueen doesn't have much to find with the selection based on his form over timber and looks the chief danger with his stamina proven. Donny Boy's previous chase form is just ordinary, so Swallows Song completes the shortlist on his first start back after wind surgery.
INIS OIRR did well on his debut season over hurdles and remains capable of better now going chasing. Donny Boy is worth another go in this sphere so is next best.

Third of 9 in bumper at Chepstow (16f, good to soft, 13/2) on NH debut. Off 6 months. Successful sole start in Irish points (Nov 2022). 3rd (5) (15/8 +46%) Goonhilly |
15/8(+46%) | (5) Goonhilly 15/8, fairly useful form in 2 bumpers. From the family of Oscar Whisky so respected now going hurdling. Displayed considerable promise in both bumpers last season; should go well on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (33/1 -136%) Chankaya |
33/1(-136%) | (3) Chankaya 33/1, Fair form at best on Flat and first form over hurdles when second at Newton Abbot 16 days ago. That was a very thin race, however, and easy to oppose once again. 100-1 second of five at Newton Abbot last month; value of that form is open to question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (5/2 -100%) Itsnoteasy |
5/2(-100%) | (6) Itsnoteasy 5/2, £100,000 5-y-o, Ocovango gelding. Dam made frame in points. Easily off mark in Irish points at fourth attempt (May 7). Interesting newcomer. Bought for £100,000 after 12l Irish point win in May; commands respect on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (150/1 -50%) Willwekeephim |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Willwekeephim 150/1, Well held in 3 bumpers in Ireland for Peter John Flood. Hooded for 1st time. Ran okay in one of his Irish bumpers but makes very limited appeal on stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (25/1 +24%) Noche Negra |
25/1(+24%) | (7) Noche Negra 25/1, Twice-raced maiden. Better effort when eighth of 16 in novice hurdle (40/1) at Killarney (20f, good to soft) on debut. Off 16 months. First run for yard after leaving Colin Bowe. Placed in both Irish points in 2022 but soundly beaten in two maiden hurdles; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (10/1 -100%) Emotional Memories |
10/1(-100%) | (4) Emotional Memories 10/1, Showed ability in a bumper and first form over hurdles when third of 9 in novice at this C&D (good to soft) 25 days ago, closing all way to line. Should improve again. Much improved form when third in C&D maiden last month; each-way claims again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (200/1 -100%) Side Stepper |
200/1(-100%) | (11) Side Stepper 200/1, Well held in bumper/maiden hurdles. A well-beaten outsider in two Worcester maiden hurdles last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (100/1 -100%) Captain Copper |
100/1(-100%) | (2) Captain Copper 100/1, £3,500 5-y-o, Ocovango gelding. Half-brother to point winner Man On The Run and fair staying hurdler/chaser Kilcullen Flem. Maiden pointer, unplaced last time (Mar 25). Unplaced in four maiden points last season; changed hands for £3,500; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (1) (200/1 -203%) Atacama Sky |
200/1(-203%) | (1) Atacama Sky 200/1, Showed ability amidst greenness when fourth starting out in bumper at Stratford but temperament is firmly under suspicion after running out at Worcester. Makes hurdles debut. Up in trip. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Hung badly right off the home turn in both bumpers; took risky on hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Dan Skelton landed this prize in 2020 with Midnight River and he saddles an interesting runner in the shape of GOONHILLY. The five-year-old showed a fair amount of promise in a couple of bumpers last season when finishing second at Hereford for Tom Weston before joining his new connections. Fourth in a bumper here on Midlands National day, the form has already taken a boost, with the runner-up placing in the Grade 2 bumper at Aintree, and stepping up in trip on his hurdles bow may also bring out some improvement. Itsnoteasy cost 100,000 pounds following his point-to-point success in May and has to enter calculations along with Yes Day.
ITSNOTEASY fetched £100,000 after winning an Irish point and has been found a winnable maiden on debut. Emotional Memories sets the standard after a strong-finishing third over C&D last month so rates the main threat, while Goonhilly and Yes Day both showed ability in bumpers.

1st (1) (5/4 +38%) Tommy's Oscar |
5/4(+38%) | (1) Tommy's Oscar 5/4, Really smart hurdler and similar form over fences last season, winning Grade 2 at Doncaster. On a fair mark and should have another good campaign. Grade 2 novice chase winner in January and goes well fresh; solid claims on reappearance. |

2nd (6) (10/3 +17%) Cedar Hill |
10/3(+17%) | (6) Cedar Hill 10/3, As good as ever when winning 4-runner handicap chase at this C&D (good, 9/2) 18 days ago, driven out. That was his fifth C&D win but will find this tougher off 5 lb higher (2 lb out of weights). Five C&D wins, the latest 18 days ago, and has a race-fitness edge. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (13/2 -44%) Gold Des Bois |
13/2(-44%) | (7) Gold Des Bois 13/2, Started last season with back-to-back wins in 4-runner races over C&D, including this race. Just the one creditable effort since, however, and work to do if he's to win this again from out of the weights. Fine efforts in the last two runnings of this race and he's capable of a bold show. |

4th (3) (18/1 +10%) Ganapathi |
18/1(+10%) | (3) Ganapathi 18/1, Bumper/hurdles winner who landed pair of small-field novice chases for Willie Mullins last summer. Down the field last 3 starts for Patrick Neville and starts out for another new yard here. Claims aren't over compelling judged on form in second half of last season; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (28/1 +58%) Sil Ver Klass |
28/1(+58%) | (5) Sil Ver Klass 28/1, Latest win in chase at Fairyhouse in December but below par since, including on Flat. Sold from A. J. Martin £18,000 later in September. Three-time chase winner for Tony Martin but has struggled for form this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/3 +17%) Malystic |
10/3(+17%) | (2) Malystic 10/3, At the very top of his game last winter, recording brace of handicap wins over 2m at Wetherby and Doncaster. Better than ever when resuming winning ways at Ayr final start and should go well again. Second in this last year and three wins subsequently; key player if at his best on return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Cedar Hill recorded a fifth win at this venue when landing the spoils over C&D last month and another bold bid off only 5lb higher isn't out of the question. However, there are some classier operators on show here, with the Grade 2 winner TOMMY'S OSCAR making most appeal. The Ann Hamilton-trained gelding is still relatively unexposed in this discipline and could take this contest en route to better things. The returning Malystic enjoyed a fruitful campaign last season and is a viable alternative.
TOMMY'S OSCAR starts the campaign on a fair mark judged on his Grade 2 win at Doncaster so can make a winning return for a second consecutive season. Likeable pair Malystic and Dubai Days are obvious threats.
The highly admirable MALYSTIC (nap) won three times last season and earns the vote on his return. Tommy's Oscar is feared most.

1st (5) (10/3 +26%) Broomfields Cave |
10/3(+26%) | (5) Broomfields Cave 10/3, Point winner who justified support when opening his account under Rules in handicap hurdle at Southwell (24.3f) in June. Made mistakes on his next 2 outings, but continued in good heart when runner-up back at Southwell a month ago. This is tougher. Gave good account when second at Southwell last month; soft ground may not be ideal. |

2nd (1) (10/3 +5%) West To The Bridge |
10/3(+5%) | (1) West To The Bridge 10/3, Better than ever when winning Sandown handicap (19.8f) in March for the second year running. Might have found the run coming too soon in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham 10 days later, before helping force the pace when sixth at Aintree in April. Respected back down in grade. Ran big race from the front at Aintree festival in April; big player if fully tuned up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (13/2 -95%) Hurricane Harvey |
13/2(-95%) | (2) Hurricane Harvey 13/2, Recorded back-to-back wins at this C&D and Ludlow at the turn of the year and soon left behind a lesser effort when runner-up at Cheltenham (3m) in April. Has won both of his starts at this venue (over fences on first occasion), so he's a leading contender on his return. Two hurdle wins (one over C&D) last season; on a fairly tough mark but still considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/4 +8%) The Bomber Liston |
11/4(+8%) | (4) The Bomber Liston 11/4, Hasn't taken to chasing in 3 starts this season but had shown fairly useful form in handicap hurdles in 2022/23, including when runner-up at Kempton (21f) from a 6 lb higher mark in March. Interesting contender back hurdling with cheekpieces on first-time. Chasing did not go to plan in summer but he's well handicapped on this return to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (7/2 +42%) Gentleman At Arms |
7/2(+42%) | (3) Gentleman At Arms 7/2, Useful novice hurdler in 2021/22 and, after a couple of below-par efforts last season, returned to form when fourth in handicap at Warwick (25f) in April. Made a bad mistake when down the field at Haydock next time, but he could still have more to offer as a stayer. Generally disappointing last season but his Warwick fourth in April offers hope. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
THE BOMBER LISTON hasn't quite taken to chasing as expected and connections will be hoping a switch back to hurdles, along with a falling handicap mark and first-time cheekpieces, can make a difference. His penultimate effort over hurdles saw him finish second at Kempton off a 6lb higher rating and a repeat of that display would make him hard to beat. Hurricane Harvey won twice last season, including over C&D in December, and ended his campaign when runner-up at Cheltenham to an improving type. He is likely to go well, while Gentleman At Arms has dropped to an attractive mark.
HURRICANE HARVEY wasted no time getting back to form when runner-up at Cheltenham in April and he can pick up where he left off to land a third success at this venue. The main danger could be West To The Bridge, who finished second in this race back in 2020, ahead of The Bomber Liston.

1st (3) (7/2 -56%) Cadell |
7/2(-56%) | (3) Cadell 7/2, Mahler gelding who went unbeaten in points and produced a promising enough Rules debut when second in an Aintree bumper (17f) back in the spring. Entitled to be suited by this sort of trip now hurdling and no surprise to see him feature. 2-2 in British points and runner-up in sole bumper; now goes hurdling and one to consider. |

2nd (1) (4/5 -19%) Dripsey Moon |
4/5(-19%) | (1) Dripsey Moon 4/5, £50,000 buy after winning twice in the Irish pointing field and he looked potentially useful when making a winning hurdles debut at Perth (20f) in August, leading on bridle 2 out and drawing clear impressively. Likely to prove tough to beat under a penalty. Two-time point winner who won easily on hurdle debut; sets a strong standard under penalty. |

3rd (7) (13/2 +0%) Lavida Adiva |
13/2(+0%) | (7) Lavida Adiva 13/2, £44,000 4-y-o. Won British point on sole start; has potential and could have a part to play. |

11/2(+54%) | (5) Meetmeinthemorning 11/2, £15,000 6-y-o: first foal: dam, lightly raced on Flat, half-sister to useful hurdler (2m/17f winner) Princeton Plains. Won sole start in Irish points (Apr 30) and he's one to note in the betting ahead of Rules/hurdling debut. Won a point on sole start; bought for £15,000 since; could be in the shake-up. |

5th (4) (22/1 +78%) Kopa Kilana |
22/1(+78%) | (4) Kopa Kilana 22/1, Bumper winner but yet to surpass modest form over hurdles, running about as well as could be expected in face of stiff task when fourth in a C&D novice 18 days ago. Likely to prove vulnerable once more. 0-17 since winning a bumper at Musselburgh on his debut in 2021 and others are preferred. |

6th (6) (40/1 +60%) Reagrove Lord |
40/1(+60%) | (6) Reagrove Lord 40/1, Placed in points in Ireland but looked one for longer trips/handicaps in this sphere judged on couple of maiden/novice hurdles efforts at up to this trip. Placed in 3m points but soundly beaten this season on first two rules starts. |

150/1(+25%) | (2) Ask My Heather 150/1, Well held all 4 starts in bumpers and passed over now hurdling on return/following wind surgery. Struggled in his four bumpers; makes hurdle debut after wind op; transformation needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Two-time winning pointer DRIPSEY MOON created a fine impression when landing a maiden hurdle at Perth on his Rules debut in August and John McConnell's charge is fancied to defy a penalty. Cadell finished a respectable second in an Aintree bumper in May and the five-year-old may emerge as the chief threat. Meetmeinthemorning and Lavida Adiva both won on their sole outings between the flags in the spring and any market support for either must be taken into consideration.
Unbeaten in points, DRIPSEY MOON looked potentially useful when making a winning hurdles debut at Perth in August, and with progress anticipated, he can follow up under a penalty. Cadell, runner-up on bumper debut at Aintree in May, and Lavida Adiva, who tasted success on her only start in points, may emerge the chief threats.

1st (3) (11/8 +54%) General Medrano |
11/8(+54%) | (3) General Medrano 11/8, Showed promise both starts in bumpers and much improved over hurdles when winning a Fontwell maiden in February. Solid start to his handicap career when hitting the frame last 2 starts and will make a chaser. Fourth in hot novices' handicap hurdle in April; makes chase debut from same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/2 +35%) Rose Sea Has |
13/2(+35%) | (1) Rose Sea Has 13/2, Largely consistent performer who opened his account for the season when making most at Fontwell (17.8f) on Boxing Day. Excellent second at Hereford next time but last 2 starts were poor. Off 6 months. Ended last season on a low note but has good claims if judged on his winter form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/10 +67%) Bubble Dubi |
11/10(+67%) | (5) Bubble Dubi 11/10, Belatedly put it all together as he justified strong support in 2m Stratford handicap in March. Good third at Haydock final start and will make a better chaser. Ended last season in good form over hurdles; should have more to offer over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (12/1 -33%) Masked Crusader |
12/1(-33%) | (6) Masked Crusader 12/1, Landed a pair of novice hurdles in 2022. Could manage only fourth on his Catterick chase debut on return last season but almost certainly would have won at Musselburgh since but for unseating at the last. Did plenty wrong when pulled up at Ayr in January final start. Completed only one of his three chases last season but may yet do well over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BUBBLE DUBI appeals as the type to improve for the switch to the larger obstacles following a single victory over timber at Stratford when justifying favouritism. He followed that effort up with a solid third at Haydock and the six-year-old gets the vote ahead of General Medrano, who was last seen finishing fourth in a valuable contest at Sandown in April. Only Money didn't get very far when stumbling and unseating his rider at Plumpton, but he appeals most of the remainder.
ONLY MONEY has hinted at a return to form and is worth another chance off his reduced mark having got no further than the first at Plumpton 2 weeks ago. Bubble Dubi and General Medrano will both make chasers so need considering, too.

7/2(+0%) | (2) Destiny Is All 7/2, Consistent performer who scored here (23.4f) in November and made the frame on his next 3 starts. Yet to be asked for effort when all but coming down at Perth when last seen in April and warrants respect first time up here. Pulled up in April when last seen but good season otherwise (won here); could go well. |

2/1(+11%) | (1) Half Shot 2/1, Opened his chase account at Sedgefield (19.3f) last October and continued in good form thereafter, making the frame on several occasions before posting a fine seventh from out of the handicap in Scottish National in April. Big player. Ran well for a long way in Scottish National; respected back down in trip on reappearance. |

3rd (4) (13/2 +74%) The Vollan |
13/2(+74%) | (4) The Vollan 13/2, Registered fourth victory of 2022 in a 4-runner handicap (23.4f) at this course in October but has struggled for form more recently. Likely best watched despite an attractive mark. Step back in right direction when third on Thursday; last six wins have come on good going. |

4th (6) (5/2 +62%) Camp Belan |
5/2(+62%) | (6) Camp Belan 5/2, Thorough stayer who got off the mark over C&D in November. However, he proved rather inconsistent subsequently and would likely prefer more testing conditions. Visor added for first time. Inconsistent last season but this C&D winner is on a handy mark and is not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (7/1 +0%) Hoganville |
7/1(+0%) | (5) Hoganville 7/1, Has done well in handicap hurdles for this yard, scoring for a fourth time at this course (22.7f) in May. Below form in a couple of outings in August, however, and has something to prove sent chasing now. Two-time course hurdles winner but well beaten the last twice; now goes chasing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Do No Wrong arrives on the back of a career-best performance having romped home by 11 lengths at Uttoxeter in August. However, the Sageburg gelding has been hit hard by the handicapper and may be worth taking on now 11lb higher in the ratings. HALF SHOT appeared a non-stayer in the Scottish Grand National at Ayr in April and the nine-year-old has the most compelling claims now cutting back in distance. Destiny Is All also warrants consideration on his best form last season.
DO NO WRONG proved better than ever when scoring at Uttoxeter last time and makes plenty of appeal in his hat-trick bid with Brian Hughes up. Half Shot and Destiny Is All rate the principal dangers.

1st (6) (10/3 +58%) Safe Destination |
10/3(+58%) | (6) Safe Destination 10/3, Offered bits of promise in maiden/novice hurdles but proved to be a disappointment sent chasing when pulled up at this C&D (soft) 5 months ago (showed signs of post-race ataxia). 5 lb lower here and will need to leave that well behind. Pulled up over C&D on chase debut in May but his trainer has had plenty of recent winners. |

2nd (2) (11/2 -10%) Kap Chidley |
11/2(-10%) | (2) Kap Chidley 11/2, From the family of very smart chaser Hammersly Lake and having shown plenty in points promises to do better over fences judged by his good second at Chepstow (19.4f) in March. Undone by a couple of errors at Newton Abbot when last seen 6 months ago and worth another chance. 2nd in March in the first of two handicap chases; interesting pedigree, including for 3m. |

3rd (5) (11/2 +45%) Dreams Of Diamonds |
11/2(+45%) | (5) Dreams Of Diamonds 11/2, Showed a bit in Exeter bumper on debut but went with little encouragement in a trio of hurdle spins in early-2022 (gambled on latest). Sent chasing after 18 months and given he was clearly thought capable of better, he's worth a market check. 549 days off; makes handicap/chase debut and appeals on pedigree but he has no solid form. |

4th (9) (18/1 -157%) Bob Bank |
18/1(-157%) | (9) Bob Bank 18/1, Well beaten in 2 bumpers and been a similar story in all 3 attempts over hurdles. Sent chasing upped in trip and could prove a different proposition (is bred to stay well). Well beaten; might do better now he goes handicap chasing over a markedly longer trip. |

7th (11) (25/1 +50%) Old Page |
25/1(+50%) | (11) Old Page 25/1, Successful in Irish points but remains with little form under Rules and no signs of improvement for new yard (albeit from a long way out of the weights). Faces another struggle. Has generally struggled in Britain, especially in recent starts; 10lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (8/1 -78%) Gibberwell |
8/1(-78%) | (7) Gibberwell 8/1, Justified support to get off the mark over fences at Hexham in April, keeping mistakes to a minimum and value for extra having done just enough once in front. Cheekpieces back on for his return and needs considering up 6 lb. Won at Hexham (3m, soft) in April latest; a player if this is another of his good days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (12/1 +14%) Frontier General |
12/1(+14%) | (3) Frontier General 12/1, Pulled up on his chase debut in July 2022 and on the back of a breathing operation, was beaten by more than his absence on first outing since leaving Henry de Bromhead at Hereford in February. Has another go chasing but can only be watched on return (had another wind op). Tailed off in a handicap at Hereford on stable debut in February; wind surgery soon after. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (13/2 +13%) Fulgurant |
13/2(+13%) | (1) Fulgurant 13/2, Placed on completed start in points and having been well held in 3 starts under Rules, ran his best race up in trip when runner-up at Worcester (23f, good to soft) 5 weeks ago, albeit benefiting from a couple taking each other on up front. Quickly switches to fences. 11l second of five in 2m7f maiden hurdle at Worcester five weeks ago; chase/handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Seasonal debutant Gibberwell capitalised on a career-low mark when landing the spoils at Hexham in April and the seven-year-old must enter calculations off only 6lb higher here. However, cheekpieces replace the blinkers that were on that day and that could be enough to prevent him from completing a double. ALI STAR BERT was likely feeling the effects of a long season when pulling up at this venue in June and is taken to bounce back to winning ways, with Kap Chidley completing the shortlist.
This can go the way of C&D winner ALI STAR BERT, who ran poorly back over hurdles here in June but is expected to get back on track reverted to the larger obstacles following his summer break. Gibberwell was value for extra having done just enough once in front at Hexham back in April so he may emerge as the main danger if ready to roll, with chasing-debutants Bob Bank and Fulgurant completing the shortlist.

3.5/1(+61%) | (9) Strike Of Lighting 3.5/1, Belatedly gained first taste of success at Cartmel in May and creditable third upped to 25.4f back there (good to soft) next time. Found his run of good form coming to a halt when well behind Secret Secret last time but could well get back on track. Below best at Cartmel last time but in good form there previously and is not ruled out. |

3rd (6) (5.5/1 +45%) Bella Bluesky |
5.5/1(+45%) | (6) Bella Bluesky 5.5/1, Opened hurdles account here in February 2022 and positive start to the current year when third in mares' handicap at Newcastle earlier this year. Mixed record since however, pulled up at Cartmel (22.1f, soft) when last seen in June. Had a wind op since and her mark continues to tumble. Her profile is a patchy one and a return to form is needed on this first run since wind op. |

5th (7) (33/1 +34%) Allibaba |
33/1(+34%) | (7) Allibaba 33/1, Fair form when placed both starts in bumpers for Willie Mullins but little show over hurdles so far, well held in a handicap at this course (18.1f, good) last month. Hard to make a case for. Nine-race maiden who struggled in August/September in his first three handicaps. |

6th (2) (15/8 +87%) Starlyte |
15/8(+87%) | (2) Starlyte 15/8, Made a winning return to hurdles for current yard at Newcastle (20.3f) last November and largely creditable efforts in defeat since, not hassled in front when fourth at this course (25.8f, good to firm) last month. Back down in trip and is 1 of 2 for her in-form yard. Ran well before fading over 3m2f here last time; best form has come on good/good to soft. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ELOI DU PUY improved for stepping up in trip when not beaten far over C&D in May and, with more improvement expected, the five-year-old can get off the mark at the ninth time of asking. Recent course winner Ambassador arrives in excellent form, having won three of his last four starts, while Secret Secret has a 6lb rise to overcome for a taking success at Cartmel in August.
Cases can be made for several, but at forecast longer odds BELLA BLUESKY gets the nod to double her tally at this track from her tumbling mark arriving on the back of a breathing operation. Eloi du Puy has been placed on all 3 starts in handicaps, so Nick Alexander's 5-y-o is feared most making his return, with Cartmel-scorer Secret Secret another fancied to be in the shake-up.

However, not in same form on 2 of her 3 starts thereafter but subsequent 4-month break may well help ahead of this. Won at Plumpton (2m1f, soft) in April; 3lb lower today, having gone off the boil. |

4th (6) (18/1 -200%) Fever Dream |
18/1(-200%) | (6) Fever Dream 18/1, Runner-up sole start in Irish points and definite signs of promise in trio of quick-fire novice/maiden hurdles back in the spring. Very much the type his good yard do well with in handicaps and very interesting if market speaks in his favour. 2nd in Irish point; well beaten as hurdler but still has form chance on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (22/1 +12%) Hopeforthebest |
22/1(+12%) | (2) Hopeforthebest 22/1, Modest handicapper on Flat (stays easy 2m) and similar form when making the frame in a couple of C&D novice hurdles in recent months. Entitled to hold more chance now handicapping. Minor honours over C&D for new yard in his two starts switched to hurdling; needs extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (9/2 +63%) Robber's Bridge |
9/2(+63%) | (14) Robber's Bridge 9/2, Has made more impact since sent handicapping this year, running right up to his best when running on for third at Stratford (16.3f) 45 days ago. Each-way possibilities again. 0-13 but placed in handicaps on last three starts and was a close third over C&D on latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (5/1 +9%) Moonshine Spirit |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Moonshine Spirit 5/1, In the frame on all 3 bumper starts and stepped up a little on his maiden/novice hurdle exploits when third on handicap debut at Newton Abbot (18.5f) in June. Possible he can do better still and drop back in trip will hold no fears. Consistent; third at Newton Abbot on handicap debut last time; each-way contender again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (6/1 -9%) Rock On Tommy |
6/1(-9%) | (4) Rock On Tommy 6/1, Building up a good record at this venue, landing back-to-back C&D handicaps prior to finishing runner-up here having third run in 17 days back in July. Never won from a mark this high but claims nevertheless if arriving in same form. Exposed but going great guns in recent starts and that can't be said of many in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (28/1 -27%) Apologise |
28/1(-27%) | (3) Apologise 28/1, Fair Flat winner in Ireland but yet to better modest form over hurdles, easy to back and ultimately looking a shade rusty back from 6 months off when well held sixth of 8 in C&D handicap 25 days ago. Needs to leave that in his wake to feature with hood now discarded. Last month's C&D sixth (40-1) in second handicap helps to show that improvement is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (9/1 +36%) Henry Box Brown |
9/1(+36%) | (5) Henry Box Brown 9/1, Showed improved form when opening hurdles account in a C&D handicap in December. Disappointed thereafter, including tried over fences at Ffos Las (2m) in May but returns to action with yard amongst the winners, so no surprise to see a better showing back over timber. Sole win in 13 starts over hurdles came over C&D (heavy) last December off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (18/1 -29%) El Jefe |
18/1(-29%) | (12) El Jefe 18/1, Largely operating below best this term but confirmed himself back in better heart from easing mark when third at Perth (16.2f) in April. Absent subsequently but lurking on a very handy mark if ready to roll back from 164 days off. Third at Perth in April on latest start was easily his most positive signal this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (22/1 -120%) Hammer Dan |
22/1(-120%) | (11) Hammer Dan 22/1, Fetched £62,000 after finishing second in a maiden point in February but showed little in trio of quick-fire hurdle starts back in the spring. Still, handicaps more suitable and no surprise to see a better showing with yard amongst the winners. Has had wind op. Wind surgery and handicap debut, so worth a market check despite the lack of solid form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (16) (40/1 +0%) Heresmax |
40/1(+0%) | (16) Heresmax 40/1, Modest maiden handicapper on Flat for Micky Hammond. No show in 2 outings over hurdles for Polly Gundry and fared little better on return/yard debut when distant fifth in a Worcester maiden 3 weeks ago. Makes handicap debut from out of weights. Modest Flat maiden; handicap debut in this sphere is off a basement mark, as little form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (15) (5/1 +44%) Mistertommyshelby |
5/1(+44%) | (15) Mistertommyshelby 5/1, Overall record an uninspiring one but with belated reappearance run under his belt, shaped much better than distance beaten suggests when fourth over extended 23f here in June. Not underestimated dropped markedly in trip with Sean Bowen booked. Unconvincing on form but down in trip and trainer has a fine strike-rate with Sean Bowen. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Rock On Tommy was foiled in his hat-trick attempt by a subsequent winner when runner-up over C&D in July and he should be on the premises once more, despite a 6lb rise. However, it could pay to take a chance on returning track-and-trip victor HENRY BOX BROWN. The six-year-old relishes underfoot conditions and arrives here on his last winning mark, while handicap debutant Fever Dream could have a say too.
A big-field handicap with a wide-open feel and with that in mind a chance is taken on C&D winner HENRY BOX BROWN. Below his best when last seen in the spring, he returns with his yard amongst the winners and, operating from his last winning mark, he could represent a spot of value. Moonshine Spirit, Rock On Tommy and Fever Dream head the dangers, whilst Hammer Dan is also worth monitoring in the betting for positive vibes on handicap bow.

1st (1) (3/1 +25%) Kilbrainy |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Kilbrainy 3/1, Promise on handicap debut when second at Musselburgh (19.8f) in November, though not in the same form on his next couple of starts. Back on track when runner-up at Hexham (16.2f) in June before finding it tougher at Perth next time. Major player back down in grade. 0-13 but running well in April/May and might not be far away following a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (18/1 +10%) Artic Mann |
18/1(+10%) | (2) Artic Mann 18/1, Fair form when winning handicap hurdle at Kelso (22.7f) back in 2020 and ran to a similar level when fifth of 6 on chase debut at the same course in November 2021. However, went backwards from that effort later the same month and he now reverts to hurdling after 22 months off. Hefty absence to defy but this course winner is on a handy mark if retaining his ability. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (8/1 -60%) Lewa House |
8/1(-60%) | (7) Lewa House 8/1, Backed at long odds when successful at Hexham (20.1f) in November but his record is a patchy one, producing one of his better efforts in first-time cheekpieces when runner-up back at the same C&D in March. Capable if he's on a going day after 6 months off. Won at Hexham last season and ran well when last seen; could be involved on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (11/2 -83%) Diana Prince |
11/2(-83%) | (6) Diana Prince 11/2, Point winner who left previous efforts under Rules behind when making a successful handicap debut at Market Rasen (18.6f) in August. Has run well both starts since, second at Worcester (2m) on her latest outing, and she's respected as she goes back up in trip. Some good runs following wind surgery and this lightly raced 7yo could have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/4 +36%) Summergrounds |
9/4(+36%) | (3) Summergrounds 9/4, Continued his progress over hurdles when fourth of 12 at Market Rasen (20.6f) on his handicap bow in June, shaping like a stayer. Below-par effort at the same course (18.6f) next time, but could get back on the up following a wind op. Made it 0-8 when below par last time but wind op since and case can be made on best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (12/1 +40%) Asa |
12/1(+40%) | (8) Asa 12/1, Fair form over hurdles on her only start in France, but hasn't progressed for her current yard. Again finished well held at Southwell (15.8f) a month ago, though shaped as if a step up in trip might help and her mark continues to fall. Has dropped down the weights but struggled to threaten this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (14/1 -75%) Sehayli |
14/1(-75%) | (5) Sehayli 14/1, Modest handicap hurdler who completed hat-trick in 2020/21 for Johnny Farrelly. Lightly raced since, producing best effort for his current trainer when fourth at Market Rasen (18.6f) in August. Always behind on the Flat next time, so bounce back called for returned to hurdling. Encouraging fourth on latest hurdle start and not discounted now back in this code. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (7/1 +30%) Our Marty |
7/1(+30%) | (4) Our Marty 7/1, Made a winning start over hurdles at Perth (16.2f) last autumn but hasn't gone on from that effort since, including over fences. Fared no better in first-time cheekpieces when sixth in handicap hurdle at Kelso last time, so others more persuasive with blinkers now reached for. Patchy profile but he has dropped down the weights and blinkers could give him a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (28/1 +15%) A Place Apart |
28/1(+15%) | (10) A Place Apart 28/1, Struggled for form over hurdles last season but better signs when runner-up back over fences at Perth (20.1f) in August. Has had excuses both starts since, unsuited by testing conditions at the same C&D 11 days ago, though has a bit to prove reverted to hurdling. Second over fences at Perth in August but pulled up there last time; reverts to hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This can go the way of DIANA PRINCE, who brings arguably the best recent form having finished a promising second at Worcester last month. The step up in trip on this occasion is a big plus and she may have too much for the likes of Hexham runner-up Lewa House and Kilbrainy, who remains a maiden through 13 starts but has been running with plenty of credit on his most recent outings.
KILBRAINY ran up to his best when second at Hexham in June and, although not quite in the same form next time, he could be ready to open his account as he drops back down in grade returned to this longer trip. Diana Prince has shown improved form since switched to handicaps and is feared most, ahead of Summergrounds.
Ths is the racecard key.
