MARLACOO scored in the style of a smart prospect when running away with a Down Royal bumper on his debut in May and, having subsequently been snapped up for 85,000 pounds, he gets the vote to land the spoils on his first start for the Tom Lacey team. Last seen finishing third in the Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile Hurdle at Kempton in February, Captain Marvellous should find this company more manageable and he commands the utmost respect. Skiffle Man completes the shortlist.
CAPTAIN MARVELLOUS will find this a good deal easier than the Adonis he contested when last seen and he's fancied to successfully concede weight all round. Marlacoo was impressive on debut in a bumper at Down Royal and he rates an above-average hurdles prospect, with point recruit Cherry Brave one to monitor in the market.
Free-going front-runner CAPTAIN MARVELLOUS was a fairly useful juvenile last season and is taken to dominate here.

Runner-up at Naas in a similar race last month, GREAT MOVER can confirm form with those that finished in behind. Stepping back up to a mile for the first time since her racecourse debut, the Willie McCreery-trained filly was always prominent before leading over a furlong out. Staying on strongly once headed close home, she can go one better here. Buck Barrow caught the eye further back, staying on late in first-time cheekpieces. It is somewhat surprising that connections have opted to remove the headgear on this occasion. However, if able to reproduce that run, the Without Parole colt looks a serious contender. Your Call, who made much of the running before eventually finishing fourth in that Naas race is another that should be competitive.
This looks wide open so it could pay to take a chance on NOW, who was disappointing on her nursery debut at Naas a fortnight ago but she's been dropped 3 lb and first-time blinkers may well eke out some required improvement. Great Mover ran her best race when runner-up in the same race as the selection last time, so she heads up the opposition, with Baltray Lady and Your Call another couple fancied to go well, too.
A competitive nursery can go the way of BALTRAY LADY, who ran a good race when 6th behind a pair of Group 1-entered fillies at Galway

He belied inexperience to get off the mark at the first time of asking in a bumper here in May and, with that experience under his belt, he may prove tough to stop once more. Stable companion Ronnies Rules notched up a hat-trick of bumper wins at Stratford this summer, and he can give the selection most to think about. The application of a hood can help Just Gino to be seen to better effect and he completes the shortlist.
Dan Skelton looks to hold the aces in this second division with SUNRAY SHADOW selected to make a winning start over obstacles having overcome inexperience to land a C&D bumper back in the spring. Seemingly the choice of Harry Skelton, he can get the better of stablemate Ronnies Rules, who bagged a hat-trick in bumpers at Stratford over the summer. Diamond Geezer, who hasn't been seen since his debut 10 months ago, can edge out Don Virginia for third.
The bare form of his course bumper win in May is modest but SUNRAY SHADOW could have much more to offer over hurdles.

A very open contest sees TROPICAL TALENT get a tentative nod to gain compensation after being sent off favourite when third over the extended 2m at Sedgefield last month. A mistake at a key time put pay to his chances on that occasion, but he showed a likeable attitude to stay on into third and a more polished display would help to make a difference. The reopposing Clean Getaway (second) was a neck in front of the selection on that outing and he appears likely to offer another bold bid, while Nevendon also makes appeal.
Impressive when scoring at Stratford in June, THEONLYWAYISWESSEX had excuses when fourth on his next start at Worcester. Below his best on the level latest, he's worth another chance to prove his revised mark in this sphere to be a good one. Gerard Mentor, who tasted success on his latest outing, is feared with a repeat, with Tropical Talent and the returning Pep Talking just another couple to consider in a competitive race for the grade.
The selection is GERARD MENTOR, who stepped up on his chase debut to score last time and should have more to come over fences.

Third in a much stronger maiden at Leopardstown on her Irish debut, the daughter of Ulysses ran respectably at Cork next time, before producing a career best when runner-up at Clonmel last time out. Provided she acts on the forecast soft ground, the three-year-old looks the one to beat. Miss Tapley should have no issues with underfoot conditions, having done all her racing on an easy surface to date. Third at Roscommon last time, the Joseph O'Brien-trained filly holds leading claims in this modest affair. Storm Averted shaped well enough when third on her latest outing to suggest she too can get involved.
STORM AVERTED has shaped well on both starts and can improve past more-established pair Miss Tapley and Ina Mina.

The Walk In The Park mare was carried out on her point-to-point debut before justifying a short price next time in Ballyvodock. The runner-up that day, Handfulofpromises, was subsequently runner-up in a bumper in England. Spick And Span ran well when third at Ballinrobe last time and that form got a boost the other day in Roscommon with the runner Mexican Moonshine winning. Marcus Furius was second on his track debut in a Kilbeggan bumper and the point-to-point winner is another to consider on his hurdling debut.
Having win a point last year, MARCUS FURIUS made a promising start to his Rules career when second in a bumper at Kilbeggan so he could be the answer now hurdling. Mystical Goddess is another winner between the flags so she must command respect, along with debutante Westinjet.

JAYAPURA bolted up in a Dromahane point-to-point over 3m in April 2023 and it would be no surprise if she had enough in the locker to land the spoils in a race of this nature on her Rules/hurdles debut. Fellow point-to-point winner Hill Of Scarriff also warrants respect on her debut for Dan Skelton, while Lady Jago is another to consider.
Those with hudling experience don't set the bar too high so this could rest between the newcomers with Dan Skelton's winning Irish pointer LADY JAGO taken to go in at the first time of asking. Stablemate Hill Of Scarriff, also successful in the poining field, could emerge as the main danger with another debutante Jayapura also in the mix. An Cailin Ciuin appeals as the pick of those with form on the board for minor honours.
This could be a good opportunity for Irish point winner LADY JAGO to deliver on the promise she showed in bumpers last season.
(2) The Kniphand 6/5, Improved model switched to handicaps/upped to 3m over hurdles in 2022/23, battling well when gaining a third success at Market Rasen (23f) in March. Home Sweet Highway makes appeal off bottom weight, just 3lb higher than his comfortable win over hurdles at Bangor-on-Dee in June, while The Kniphand completes the shortlist.
NEXT LEFT has to shrug off a disappointing run at Worcester but he's been given a little break and he's a chaser to view positively on the balance of his form. The Kniphand lacks a recent run but that is no concern given the yard he represents and he's feared most.
The suggestion is THE KNIPHAND, who stays well and has a good record when fresh, so now could be the time to catch him.

A promising third on her recent handicap debut at Clonmel, SWEET VERONA can go two places better here. The Willie McCreery-trained filly had shown promise on a couple of occasions in maidens prior to improving on her initial outing in this grade. Although a high draw is a slight negative, the Make Believe filly tends to race prominently so should be quick into stride. The consistent Finsceal Annie has also found herself starting from a wide stall but she too has to be a leading contender. A winner at Tipperary in August, the Ciaran Murphy-trained filly finished runner-up either side of that success. There was also something to take from her most recent fourth at Punchestown. Are You In Or Out, who finished runner-up here in July, should appreciate returning to this venue.
The Billy Lee-ridden SWEET VERONA gets the nod to build on a promising handicap debut third at Clonmel last month and prove too strong for Monday's Down Royal scorer Alex Belardo. Ragtime Milly shaped quite well when fourth at Gowran recently and completes the shortlist.

That rival has followed up in good style at Listowel since. He's Ultimate looks like an obvious danger after a solid run to chase home Dee's Getaway on his return to action at Tramore 15 days ago. Ol Man Dingle ran a big race when third at Bellewstown last time and is another that has to come into calculations.
OL MAN DINGLE took his form to a new level when third at Bellewstown a month ago and a repeat of that performance will ensure he's bang there again. He's Ultimate got back on track at Tramore and there's a chance he'll kick on from that, with Workinonadream also considered.

The eight-year-old made a winning chase debut at Worcester last month and with improvement likely, a 6lb rise might not be enough to stop him. A classy sort over timber, Guard Your Dreams makes plenty of appeal now sent chasing, while Dan Skelton's Asta La Pasta appeals most of the remainder.
Dan Skelton's ASTA LA PASTA looks very much the type to make a chaser and can end Roccovango's unbeaten run since fitted with cheekpieces.
Roccovango looks sure of a big run but preference is for ASTA LA VISTA who appeals as a likely type to improve for fences.

Evan Williams' charge will have to defy a 9lb rise for that near four-length victory, but it doesn't appear to be out of his reach. Bensini is feared most off a mark of 82 which appears exploitable, but a clean round of jumping is required, while Special Dragon heads the remainder.
MYSTIC MAN has been heading back in the right direction, shaping as if a return to shorter would suit when fourth at Market Rasen (21.4f) in August, so he is taken to land this race for the second year in succession. Bensini, second to the selection last season, had been in decent heart prior to unseating last time and could be the main danger, ahead of Supasunrise.
The vote goes to SPECIAL DRAGON, who could kick on again on her chase debut for a stable going well.

The Jessica Harrington-trained PRESENCE can defy topweight here in this tight knit handicap. Runner-up at Punchestown last month, the three-year-old looked ill at ease on the track before finishing strongly. Only 2lb higher now, the daughter of New Bay catches the eye in first-time cheekpieces. Pepper Noir has been off since May but on her earlier form the Gavin Cromwell-trained filly would be a threat. Lightly raced on turf, the three-year-old shaped well on both starts at the Curragh earlier in the season. Vassula Ryden has been coming down in the handicap and there have been more positive signs of late.
PRESENCE has had a good spell in recent months and is preferred to Willie McCreery's Vassula Ryden, a creditable fourth over C&D last time. C&D specialist The Bog Bank would also need considering if turning out again.
PRESENCE is in form, she handles the ground and if the cheekpieces eke out a little bit more improvement she is up to winning this.

PERSIAN SPIRIT created a fine impression when making a winning debut at Newbury a month ago and in receipt of weight from most, is fancied to remain unbeaten. Ardennes will find this easier than the listed race he contested last time so he commands respect, along with hat-trick seeking colt Bob Mali.

WILD SHOT has been put in here off a nice weight. The John McConnell-trained gelding hasn't run too badly in recent handicap hurdle outings, and was a fine third at Bellewstown in late August. Off his mark of 110 he would appear the best treated. The consistent Bythesametoken is rated a couple of pounds superior but has a stiff enough task under top-weight. Summer Tide is another who could be nicely treated if he puts his best foot forward. He was well beaten in handicap company at Killarney last time but should be capable of getting closer in this.
It could be worth chancing veteran WILD SHOT, who ran well when sixth in a Ballinrobe handicap 3 weeks ago and the drop back in trip won't inconvenience him back down in grade. Gino Drummer Boy and Bythesametoken are a couple of others to consider.

Naas runner-up SUNDAY SOVEREIGN can gain a first success for trainer George Kingston. A five-time career winner, the seven-year-old ran his best race since joining present connections when staying on well for minor honours last time. While there is a slight concern that 5f might be on the sharp side at this stage of his life, the gelding is likely to benefit from arriving late from off a fast pace. Devil's Angel, who kept on well when fifth at Fairyhouse last month, should be involved if handling the forecast soft ground. Kevin Coleman's gelding has yet to prove he acts with an ease although he has had few opportunities to do so. Lismacbryan makes her handicap debut in a moderate affair and market support would be noteworthy.
SUNDAY SOVEREIGN ran a cracker at Naas 6 weeks ago and has good claims if backing that up with Colin Keane now on board. Devil's Angel and Clarinbridge are a couple of others to consider.

Several hold chances and the betting market surrounding the likes of last-time-out C&D winner Bishop's Crown, the in-form Solar Aclaim and top-weight Amazonian Dream should be informative. However, it may be worth taking a chance on EXECUTIVE DECISION, who was just nabbed close to the line off this mark at Newmarket last week. She could be tough to stop in this company with ground conditions still in her favour.
NARIKO showed improved form and was notably strong at the finish when doubling her tally in a race that worked out well at Haydock in the spring. A 7 lb rise for that success looks fair and she could be worth siding with back from a break. Executive Decision knocked firmly on the door at Newmarket recently and she's a serious threat. Solar Aclaim and last year's winner Under The Twilight are others to consider. Bishop's Crown is in the mix too.
Nariko is highly intriguing but preference is for last year's winner UNDER THE TWILIGHT who has such a good record here.

Stormalong has been running very consistently and just lost out in a tight three-way finish at Listowel last week. She went up 3lb for that effort but should be a big player again. Lucky Viv gained a deserved win at Ballinrobe last time and is another for the shortlist.
A lot with chances but LA HACIENDA rates just the pick of the weights so is fancied to regain winning ways at the chief expense of the progressive Stormalong. Cash The Cheque and Lucky Viv also need factoring into this very open handicap.

Therefore, a chance is taken on MOONLIT STAGE, who was only beaten a half-length over the extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton last month, and raised just 1lb, he can benefit for this slight step up in trip. Gretna Dreams is also worthy of consideration.
FORCE OF HONOUR has shown improved form upped to 1m on his last 2 starts, opening his account at Redcar 8 days ago, and a penalty might not be enough to prevent him from scoring again. Moonlit Stage was suited by the longer distance when runner-up at Wolverhampton last time and isn't taken lightly, with Gretna Dreams also considered.

Stable companions Jeffery's Cross and GOD'S OWN GETAWAY have the ability to take charge of a race of this nature and, while the former boasts commendable form figurers over fences, the latter has more scope for progression and shades preference with Harry Skelton aboard. Reilly completes a strong hand for team Skelton but perhaps The Flier Begley is more of a danger to the other two.
GOD'S OWN GETAWAY is highly progressive as a chaser and still looked ahead of his mark when last seen at Perth almost 4 months ago, so he's preferred to Finn Lough, who is open to improvement as a chaser. Jeffery's Cross is also worthy of consideration if the market speaks in his favour.
Dan Skelton runs three with Jeffery's Cross respected but the vote goes to GOD'S OWN GETAWAY who has done little wrong over fences.

BASHFUL BOY may have weakened tamely when headed two out over further at Fontwell in August, but that was still an encouraging effort, and David Pipe's gelding now runs off a mark 12lb lower than his last success. That may be enough to see off the likes of Light Fandango, who was disappointing last time out but is better judged on his penultimate victory at Uttoxeter, and handicap debutant West Warhorse. Making his first start for Nicky Henderson, In The Air is capable of being in the shake-up as well.
KOSASIEMPRE should be spot on after her recent Worcester fifth so is fancied to bag a third success of the season at the chief expense of Nicky Henderson's handily-weighted new recruit In The Air. Light Fandango fluffed his lines at Worcester last time but still needs considering on his first go in handicaps along with Neigh Botha who resumes after breathing surgery.
The tentative suggestion is IN THE AIR, who is proven over 2m3f and if anyone can revive him, Nicky Henderson can.

Highly tried since making a winning reappearance at Leopardstown in April, CHANTILLY can register a second career victory. The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt shaped well in some hotly contested handicaps prior to finding Group 3 class a bridge too far last time. Back in these much calmer waters, the son of Galileo should take all the beating. Poetic Sound is a lightly-raced gelding open to any amount of improvement. Sent off favourite when third on his racecourse debut at Killarney in July, the Ger Lyons-trained three-year-old recovered losses at Roscommon the following month. That form has since received a boost when the runner-up won at Listowel. Topweight Sea Eagle cannot be discounted with the aid of Jack Cleary's 7lb claim.
CHANTILLY hasn't really kicked on from a promising start to the season but this represents a marked drop in class and he should be able to capitalise for all that Weston is a big threat on form. Poetic Sound is open to further improvement and isn't a forlorn hope.
POETIC SOUND (nap) won well over this trip on testing ground at Roscommon. He is unexposed and there should be plenty more to come

The class-dropping Indemnity rates a key player at this level and should go well if handling the ground. Similar comments apply to New Chelsea, who is noted with a hood added for his first run after wind surgery.
INDEMNITY has been in good order and this represents a drop in grade for him, so he gets the nod over High Fibre, who is sliding in the weights and has been shaping better than the result this term. Odin Legacy is another one to consider with few miles on the clock.

OSKAR HIGH bounced back to form with success at Galway last month and may be able to follow up in a weak enough looking contest. The 12-year-old is only 5lb higher having made all around Ballybrit last time and a similar effort would see him go close again. Sydney Cruiser was a solid enough fourth behind the selection last time. She is entitled to get a bit closer at the revised weights and could prove the danger. The four-year-old Wing Back didn't run to badly when mid-division in a maiden hurdle at Naas back in April and could be one to watch in the market on his handicap debut.
SYDNEY CRUISER has yet to win a race, but she's been shaping up nicely and with this intermediate trip perhaps her optimum, she can reverse Galway form with Oskar High. Of the rest, Pettigo is likely to give it another good shot, while Ganderstown needs a close check in the betting given his connections.
Not many make much appeal. SYDNEY CRUISER has been consistent in defeat lately over various trips and could get her day in the sun.

Ed Dunlop's charge scored over this distance off 2lb lower in May and he looks likely to take the beating. The evergreen Highwaygrey is feared most after finishing third at Redcar last time, while Alpen Power is capable of bouncing back from his latest performance.
ROYAL DREAM looks the most solid option on the back of a good effort at Kempton recently. Highwaygrey is a former C&D winner who arrives in from and is feared most ahead of Natzor, who had an excuse last time and is well capable at this class 5 level.
The return to Newcastle may be a sizeable plus for NATZOR and he's the selection ahead of the in-form Highwaygrey.

Kaylan should also be taken seriously.

Regardless, LIGHT DRAGOON created a good impression when opening his account in a novice hurdle at Worcester last month and an opening mark of 106 may see the six-year-old follow up. Dog Fox and Wise Guy both look capable of better and aren't taken lightly.
WISE GUY progressed well last term and it's reasonable to think he could have more to offer this season given his age and low-mileage profile, so he's fancied to make a successful return. Diplomatie had a productive spell in Jersey during the summer and warrants respect having joined a yard that does very well with its new recruits, while Dog Fox was undone by a bad mistake here on his most recent outing and could still be ahead of his mark.

Well backed when staying on strongly over two furlongs shorter at Navan last time, the seven-year-old should appreciate stepping up in trip. Ridden by an inexperienced 10lb apprentice at the County Meath track, the son of Zoffany now has Ronan Whelan back in the saddle. Twice successful over hurdles earlier in the year, the Paul Rooney-owned gelding looks well handicapped on the Flat. Trainer Harry Rogers runs three in this race, and Arcland could prove to be the best of his trio. Stablemate Grann's Boy, who is equipped with first-time blinkers, should also give his trainer a strong chance.
Having shaped as if well treated on his penultimate outing, GRANN'S BOY didn't fire last time, but he's had a break and blinkers are applied, so he's the most appealing in a weak race on paper. Slieve Bearnagh is one of the few to arrive in form and he's regarded as the main danger.
NOBLE ANDY is a speculative selection. He caught the eye making late gains last time over shorter and this step up in trip will suit

The lightly-raced son of Free Eagle wasn't able to trouble the judge in two handicap runs last month, but he is 5lb lower for the latest of those efforts and a marked step up in trip could unlock some improvement. Topweight Enquire Within had been threatening to get her head in front for some time prior to winning at Down Royal last month. Runner-up on two occasions at this track, the mare should run her race under Wesley Joyce. Roscommon runner-up Kool One is a lightly raced gelding that should be open to more improvement than most after just the six starts.
ENQUIRE WITHIN is holding her form well and has the most persuasive claims of these. Prairie Angel and Kool One are a couple of the dangers.

It was a better effort to chase home Champagne Kid eight days ago and he can get his head in front now. Prove Yourself was beaten by the experienced Cappucino at the Kerry venue 11 days ago on his return to action. He's entitled to be a big player now with that run under his belt. Bayrann was a couple of places behind Prove Yourself last time and looks place material.

A well-bred son of Kingman, who has a pedigree that points to being better over further, Reign Of Honour should be monitored for market support.
BYBLOS is well bred and made a pleasing start under considerate handling at Kempton a month ago, so he's worth a chance to improve enough to open his account at the possible expense of Godolphin pair Tornado Alert and Reign of Honour.

BLAZING SON has an excellent record on tapeta and put up another bold display when just denied at Southwell last month, so he's fancied to get back to winning ways at the possible expense of the in-form Bright. As If By Chance should also be able to get involved if things drop right.
Newcastle has brought out the very best in ANIMATE in the past and he can come out on top on his first visit here in 2024.

Not a strong maiden in terms of depth but DANCING MAGIC is firmly established as a useful performer and this could be the day he gets off the mark with his promising rider taking off a very handy 3 lb. Stanage has the ability to play a lead role for all he hasn't always looked straightforward and he, along with improving filly Jumeirah Sea, head up the dangers.
With Stanage looking increasingly tricky, this could be the day DANCING MAGIC belatedly sheds his maiden tag.

Course winner Project Geofin is likely to relish a return to this surface and is feared most, ahead of in-form rival Profit Street.
An open-looking handicap with the vote going to PROFIT STREET given his form figures at Newcastle read 121. The return to the AW should also suit Mereside Madness and Project Geofin so they head the opposition.

The well-handicapped Semser, who is a previous C&D winner, is forwarded as the chief threat to the selection, although Alyara and Bakersboy are dangerous to underestimate at this level and also warrant betting checks at the very least.
CLEAR JUSTICE is already a dual scorer this term and signalled he is ready to go in again when a very good Brighton second last time out. Alyara is on a long losing run but next on the list, with Laurentia and Hurtle also in the mix.
Gary and Josh Moore send out two leading contenders with CLEAR JUSTICE just edging preference over Semser.

A 1lb drop could prove on the lenient side for Michael Dods' filly and she's fancied to make a winning all-weather debut. Dc Flyer has been in decent heart since his C&D triumph in early August and another good account is forecast on the back of a wind procedure. Let's Go Hugo and Leodis Dream are also worth a second look.
LET'S GO HUGO finished with running left in him at Redcar last time and is worth a chance to confirm the promise of that effort. August's C&D scorer Dc Flyer has had his wind tweaked since finishing fourth here 3 weeks ago and will be a big threat if that procedure has had a positive effect. Taygar completes the shortlist.

Chips And Rice should not be underestimated either.
CHIPS AND RICE has slipped to an attractive mark so is fancied to get back to winning ways in this tight-knit handicap. Pink Lily heads the list of dangers on the back of her Goodwood success, although Queen's Company, Midsummer Music and Idyllic can all have a say too.
This is an ease in grade for CHIPS AND RICE and she can take advantage at the main expense of Pink Lily.

Having pulled hard on his placed efforts at Ripon (1m2f) and Catterick (1m4f) on his most recent outings, DUE CONSIDERATION is likely to appreciate this return to a mile. Adrian Nicholls' three-year-old looks more than capable of scoring off an unchanged mark and he edges the vote over Triple Force. The Land Force gelding arrives on the back of a solid second at Southwell and another prominent role is expected. Etretat and Love Warrior are unlikely to be far away, either.
TRIPLE FORCE finished miles clear of the remainder when chasing home a blot on the handicap at Southwell 7 days ago and, racing off a 1 lb lower mark, he looks to hold excellent claims of going one place better here. Walson's Law is an interesting handicap debutant for the George Boughey stable and confidence behind him would need to be taken seriously. Love Warrior and Etretat are others worth a second look.
Preference is for TRIPLE FORCE, who was a clear second behind a major improver at Southwell last week and is 3lb well in here.
