1st (1) (2/1 +20%) Sun Never Sets |
2/1(+20%) | (1) Sun Never Sets 2/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable sixth of 13 in nursery at Naas (8f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Yard having good spell. Well in the mix. Just over a length behind Tatum at Naas and might struggle to reverse the form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (15/8 +16%) Tatum |
15/8(+16%) | (6) Tatum 15/8, Lightly-raced maiden. 13/2, very good third of 13 in nursery at Naas (8f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Stable in good form. Big shout. Strong in market for nursery debut at Naas and ran a lovely race to be never-nearer third. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (33/1 +18%) Rogerwaswrong |
33/1(+18%) | (7) Rogerwaswrong 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 40/1 and visored for 1st time, twelfth of 13 in nursery at Naas (8f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Long way behind Tatum when down the field on handicap debut at Naas; 3lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 -65%) Interestnpenalties |
14/1(-65%) | (3) Interestnpenalties 14/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 66/1, seventh of 10 in maiden at Punchestown (8f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Visor on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Must find best form. Fourth in Down Royal contest that has worked out well; gelded; headgear on for h'cap bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (10/3 +5%) Not Far To Fall |
10/3(+5%) | (4) Not Far To Fall 10/3, Thrice-raced maiden. 5/1, third of 10 in maiden at Navan (8f, good to soft) 28 days ago, sticking to task. Makes handicap debut and can't be discounted. Beaten fractions in claiming maiden over 1m at Navan; opening mark could be exploitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (13/2 -30%) Cool Dan |
13/2(-30%) | (2) Cool Dan 13/2, Thrice-raced maiden. 18/1, fifth of 6 in minor event at Roscommon (7.2f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Yard having good spell so much respected on his handicap debut. Being beaten 10l by National Stakes winner reads well but Keane looks elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This ground is likely to be very testing. On breeding, SUN NEVER SETS ought to handle deep ground and has plenty in her favour. She is the highest rated in the field and in-form claimer Wayne Hassett takes 7lb off her back. She hasn't been beaten far in her last three starts and was placed in two of them. Furthermore, she goes to work from the best draw in stall one. Noel Meade and Colin Meade are a useful combination and they team up with Tatum who kept on well for third over slightly further in Naas. That was on much better ground, but she does look dangerous. Not Far To Fall was only beaten a neck and a head into third in a claiming maiden at Navan which gives him a shot.
TATUM looks the way to go on the back of her very good Naas third with her yard also going very well. Top-weight Sun Never Sets is feared most ahead of Not Far To Fall and Interestnpenalties.
Colin Keane prefers TATUM to the Lyons runner Cool Dandy; the daughter of Postponed can build on her third at Naas on handicap bow

1st (2) (11/2 +50%) Bellum Justum |
11/2(+50%) | (2) Bellum Justum 11/2, Boasts a good pedigree and has run to a fair level in 1m maidens the last twice, unable to make his experience tell and having the run of things as well when fourth behind promising winning newcomer at Doncaster 12 days ago. Looks vulnerable in this company. Soft ground an excuse at Doncaster having previously gone close on the July course. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (50/1 -52%) Inisherin |
50/1(-52%) | (12) Inisherin 50/1, Foaled February 22. Shamardal colt. Dam, 1¼m (Prix Jean Romanet)-1½m winner, closely related to very smart 1m (including Queen Anne Stakes) winner Triple Time. From excellent family for connections and worth a look from high draw. The dam, a Group 1 winner, is closely related to Queen Anne winner Triple Time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (16) (7/4 +7%) Ortelius |
7/4(+7%) | (16) Ortelius 7/4, $1,100,000 Justify colt from good US family. 5/1, shaped really well when second, beaten just a head, in 1m Curragh maiden on debut 33 days ago, a bad start probably costing him victory. Will improve and seems sure to go well here if stall 1 doesn't hinder him. Cost $1.1million; did plenty wrong at the Curragh and yet still nearly won; promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (80/1 -60%) Fihrayn |
80/1(-60%) | (11) Fihrayn 80/1, 55,000 gns yearling, Waldgeist colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart winner up to 7f Burnt Sugar and useful 2-y-o 5f/6f winner Brown Sugar who did well for the yard. Offered something to work on despite proving very easy to back on recent debut at Chelmsford (1m), looking green. Once organised he kept on quite nicely to finish a 5l fourth over 1m at Chelmsford. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (19) (5/2 -33%) Wafei |
5/2(-33%) | (19) Wafei 5/2, €185,000 2-y-o, American Pharoah colt from the family of very smart winner up to 1¼m Misty For Me. 10/3, promising start when second, beaten a short head, in 1m Haydock novice 21 days ago, quickening up really well and almost winning despite greenness/a tricky position. Sure to improve. Big player. 100-30 at Haydock and was mowed down late on by a well-touted Godolphin newcomer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (11/2 -22%) Duke's Command |
11/2(-22%) | (9) Duke's Command 11/2, Foaled March 3. 1,600,000 gns yearling, Dubawi colt. Dam, placed up to 8.5f, sister to high-class winner up to 1½m (1000 Guineas/Oaks) Minding, Oaks winner Tuesday and Irish 1000 Guineas winner Empress Josephine. Fantastic pedigree and obvious appeal on debut for top stable. Dubawi colt who cost 1,600,000gns as a yearling; outstanding pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (33/1 +50%) Bjorn Ironside |
33/1(+50%) | (4) Bjorn Ironside 33/1, Too Darn Hot colt with speed on the dam's side of his pedigree but he's struggled in a couple of events over 6f/7f. Gelded and a hood goes on. Well held first two runs; has been gelded and now hooded; reservations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (18) (125/1 -56%) Too Bossy For Us |
125/1(-56%) | (18) Too Bossy For Us 125/1, 40/1, well held though not knocked about on debut at Goodwood (1m) earlier this month. Bred to need time and distance. Only midfield when 40-1 at Goodwood (1m, good) and needed to show a lot more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (40/1 -21%) Al Mootamarid |
40/1(-21%) | (1) Al Mootamarid 40/1, 200,000 gns 2-y-o, Kingman colt. Half-brother to several winners, including top-class winner up to 1½m Golden Horn. Shaped as if needing the experience but noted going on nicely by the finish when fifth of 8 in Doncaster novice (7f) on debut in June. Not seen since but seems sure to do better. A slow start was no help when fifth of eight runners over 7f at Doncaster in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (150/1 +0%) Cracker Star |
150/1(+0%) | (7) Cracker Star 150/1, £90,000 Cracksman colt. 20/1, knew enough to be close up but didn't see his race out on debut at Sandown (7f) last month. Should last longer this time but has plenty to find. Held a prominent pitch for some way at Sandown before weakening back into ninth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (14/1 -40%) Marching Thunder |
14/1(-40%) | (13) Marching Thunder 14/1, Foaled February 4. Dubawi colt. Dam, 1¼m winner, half-sister to very smart winner up to 1½m Laverock. 1 of 2 appealing newcomers for Charlie Appleby. Dam French 1m2f winner, half-sister to French 1m1f/Italian 1m4f Group 1 winner Laverock. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (33/1 +0%) Monkey Island |
33/1(+0%) | (14) Monkey Island 33/1, 16/1, in need of experience on debut at Ascot (7f) earlier this month and ran to just a fair level. Likely to know more this time, ones from this yard sometimes improving markedly from first to second run. 7th at Ascot; the stable's 2yos are renowned for leaving their debut efforts behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) (18/1 -13%) Eben Zaabeel |
18/1(-13%) | (10) Eben Zaabeel 18/1, Foaled March 27. Sea The Stars colt. Half-brother to 10.5f-13.2f winner Motazzen. Plenty of stamina in his quality pedigree. Newcomer with an entry in the Group 1 Futurity; stable has won this maiden before. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (8) (50/1 -25%) Dr Hackenbush |
50/1(-25%) | (8) Dr Hackenbush 50/1, Foaled April 17. 85,000 gns 2-y-o, Ulysses colt. Closely related to 1m winner Goondiwindi and half-brother to 3 winners, including useful 11.5f/1½m winner Zack Mayo and 2-y-o 1m winner Navignies. Newcomer to note for top yard. 85,000gns 2yo; market should be informative with top yard running two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (6) (80/1 -186%) Contacto |
80/1(-186%) | (6) Contacto 80/1, Foaled March 13. 140,000 gns yearling, Study of Man colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart 1¼m winner Harrovian and useful 1m-1¼m winner Alumna. Dam 1½m/12.5f winner. Good pedigree and worth a look. 140,000gns yearling; half-brother to six winners including Harrovian (1m2f; RPR 114). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (17) (28/1 -27%) Synchronize |
28/1(-27%) | (17) Synchronize 28/1, Foaled March 29. 700,000 gns Frankel colt. Half-brother to French 1¼m winner Carloun. Dam unraced half-sister to smart 7f-1¼m winner Hadaatha (third in Prix de l'Opéra) out of smart winner up to 1m (2-y-o 7f winner) Hathrah, third in 1000 Guineas. 1 of 2 interesting newcomers for the Gosden yard. 700,000gns yearling; third foal; half-brother to French 1m2f AW winner Carloun. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (3) (300/1 -50%) Better |
300/1(-50%) | (3) Better 300/1, 25/1, went with little promise on debut at Chelmsford (1m) last week. May need more time. 25-1 when beaten a long way at Chelmsford (1m) after pulling hard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ORTELIUS made a very pleasing start to his career when just touched off over 1m at the Curragh and plenty of improvement can be expected. This son of Justify might have shed the maiden tag at the first time of asking had he been more alert at the start and he is likely to be more streetwise here for powerful connections. Wafei is feared most after just a short-head defeat on his racecourse debut over 1m at Haydock, while Bellum Justum heads the remainder.
Usually a good maiden and this looks brimming with promising colts, notably WAFEI and Ortelius, who went very close first time up. Both are open to plenty of improvement and interestingly are berthed on the opposite sides of the track here, the vote going to Wafei who has the potentially favourable highest draw. 1.6M yearling Duke's Command is of obvious interest first time up for Godolphin and the betting should be informative.
This could be a hot maiden. Aidan O'Brien's $1.1m colt ORTELIUS did plenty wrong at the Curragh and yet still nearly won.

1st (6) (9/4 +44%) Conyers Hill |
9/4(+44%) | (6) Conyers Hill 9/4, Fair hurdler. 3/1, seventh of 8 in novice hurdle at Wexford (20f, good to soft) 120 days ago, beaten before last. Proving consistent prior to that effort, so no surprise a better showing back from a break. Three fine runs over hurdles, incl' over C&D; be involved if forward enough after absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (28/1 +30%) Blue Reed |
28/1(+30%) | (11) Blue Reed 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 25/1, bit below form seventh of 15 in novice hurdle at Tramore (16f, good) 42 days ago. Another who will hold more chance in handicaps. Just a hint of ability in three maiden hurdles and will have to improve plenty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 +27%) Walmix |
4/1(+27%) | (3) Walmix 4/1, Fairly useful bumper winner. 3/1, not seen to best effect for second successive start over hurdles when sixth of 15 in novice hurdle at Galway (16.6f, soft) 17 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Should have more to offer in this sphere. Best effort at Tramore last month over 2m5f; might find this sharp but can run well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (15/2 +25%) Rock Ya Boy Ya |
15/2(+25%) | (7) Rock Ya Boy Ya 15/2, Fair hurdler. Remains a maiden after 9 hurdle runs. 14/1, good second of 14 in novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (16f, good) 20 days ago, headed last and no extra. Was 2nd at Kilbeggan last time; chance but softer ground probably doesn't suit as well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (22/1 -22%) Andyourbirdcansing |
22/1(-22%) | (12) Andyourbirdcansing 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 66/1, best effort to date when fourth of 14 in novice hurdle at Kilbeggan (16f, good) 20 days ago, taking that place on the line. Needs to step up again however if she's to play a lead role here. Has 4l to find with Rock Ya Boy Ya from Kilbeggan but this softer ground might suit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (20/1 -67%) Boom Boom Boom |
20/1(-67%) | (1) Boom Boom Boom 20/1, Dual Flat winner who has yet to taste success over in 11 runs over hurdles, last of 11 in handicap at Uttoxeter (15.7f) 15 days ago. Disappointing at Galway and Uttoxeter but remains capable of better, so one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (10/3 -11%) Red Trail |
10/3(-11%) | (10) Red Trail 10/3, Fair Flat winner who offered something to work on during first stint over hurdles last term and she comes here in good order on the level, landing pair of handicaps at around 10f in recent months. Still, handicaps could be more her bag in this sphere. Won a Down Royal Flat handicap on heavy ground three days ago; some decent hurdle efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (100/1 -52%) Applicationofcash |
100/1(-52%) | (4) Applicationofcash 100/1, Not yet offered much in handful of starts over hurdles and easy enough to pass over here. A glimpse of ability in a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle but was below that at Listowel last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) (4/1 +75%) Tudor Manor |
4/1(+75%) | (9) Tudor Manor 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Bit below form sixth of 13 in handicap at this course (9.6f, good, 12/1) 21 days ago, not clear run 2f out and not knocked about. Switches from Flat to hurdles and he's not out of things. Twice runner-up over hurdles but fell on latest outing at Tramore in June; ground a query. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|S| (8) (250/1 +0%) Tomannie |
250/1(+0%) | (8) Tomannie 250/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 200/1, fourteenth of 16 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (15.8f, good to soft) 128 days ago. Hard to make a case for. Little sign of ability and passed over today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
With Danny Mullins taking over in the saddle, WALMIX might be able to take this ordinary contest. Successful in a bumper at Wexford in June, the French bred five-year-old has performed with credit in three starts over hurdles since. He should be able to put the experience gain to good use now and it'll be disappointing if he is not involved towards the business end. Turned out again quickly after winning at Down Royal on Monday, Red Trail is given second preference. Fifth on her most recent try over flights at Naas in March, the hat-trick seeking chestnut is sure to prove popular with punters. While frustrating to follow, Ta Na La should be able to make her presence felt, getting valuable sex and age weight allowances. A runner-up at Kilbeggan earlier this month, Rock Ya Boy Ya is another that warrants respect, along with Fast Medicine, Conyers Hill and Arnacoeur.
Having made the frame on all 4 starts over hurdles, TA NA LA probably found the test inadequate back on the Flat when fourth in a Laytown maiden (7.2f) 16 days ago. Returned to timber, she could be worth siding with to come out on top in a maiden lacking depth. Conyers Hill and Arnacoeur head up the dangers.

Pinyon Jay |
(2) (5/2 +9%)5/2(+9%) | (2) Pinyon Jay 5/2, Perfect start over hurdles when landing 20f Down Royal maiden earlier this month, not taking long to settle it when asked. Cheekpieces go on down in trip and he should have more to offer. Scored by 7l on hurdling debut at Down Royal (2m4f) this month; obvious contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
I Love My Baie |
(1) (6/4 +0%)6/4(+0%) | (1) I Love My Baie 6/4, Bred to excel over hurdles (brother to the 2022 French Champion Hurdle winner) and having won a bumper here on debut in June 2022 he made a fine start in this sphere 12 weeks ago, impressing as he pulled clear easily. Down in trip and more to come. Drew nicely clear on run-in to make winning hurdle debut here (2m4f) in June; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Whistle Stop Tour |
(4) (15/8 -15%)15/8(-15%) | (4) Whistle Stop Tour 15/8, £115,000 5-y-o from family of fairly useful hurdler (2m winner) Atholl Street. Off mark in Irish points at second attempt (Mar 26). Interesting Rules newcomer. Bought for £115,000 after hard-fought Irish point win in March; rules debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
C The Bunny Run |
(3) (40/1 -21%)40/1(-21%) | (3) C The Bunny Run 40/1, 18/1, little promise in Kelso maiden hurdle over further recently. Tongue strap quickly reached for. Struggled on recent debut at Kelso; tongue-tie added here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mekbat |
(5) (40/1 -21%)40/1(-21%) | (5) Mekbat 40/1, Modest maiden on Flat (stays 1m), well below form last 2 starts. Stiff task on hurdles debut. Generally disappointing in low-grade Flat races (7f-1m) this season; hurdle debut today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
This looks between Irish raiders PINYON JAY and I Love My Baie, both of whom made winning hurdling debuts with ease in 2m4f maidens last time out. The latter's came at this venue in July and, as a brother to French Champion Hurdle winner Hermes Baie, he's bred to be useful in this sphere. However, he looked better the further he went that day, so the drop in trip is a concern and slight preference is for Gordon Elliott's gelding in receipt of 2lb. Despite plenty going wrong at Down Royal 27 days ago, the selection still ran out a facile winner and there should be a lot more to come, given how green he was that day. Lucinda Russell won this race last year and her point-to-point winner Whistle Stop Tour would be dangerous to dismiss.
I LOVE MY BAIE looks a useful hurdler in the making and can make it 2-2 in this sphere 12 weeks on from his impressive victory over further at this venue. Down Royal-winner Pinyon Jay is the obvious danger, although Whistle Stop Tour makes some appeal on his first go hurdling having won a point in Ireland when last seen.
This will probably be fought out by the two last-time-out hurdle winners. PINYON JAY is narrowly preferred to I Love My Baie.

Sound place claims again. Lightly raced 3yo; behind Opal Storm at Carlisle latest; needs more but that's possible. |

(10) (4/1 +75%)4/1(+75%) | (10) Autumn Flight 4/1, Not disgraced when fourth of 7 in handicap (7/1) at Catterick (6f, soft) 5 days ago and has good-value claimer aboard, but others still appeal as likelier winners. 0-8 for this yard but has run some fair races; return to 5f not enough to tempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Yazaman |
(9) (6/1 +14%)6/1(+14%) | (9) Yazaman 6/1, One win from 34 Flat runs. Turned best effort the season over C&D on penultimate outing and would have finished a touch closer with a cleaner run when fourth of 11 in handicap at Catterick (6f, good, 13/2) 51 days ago. Not the most reliable but player if in same form. No win since debut but threatening at a low level this summer, including over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Opal Storm |
(8) (9/2 +18%)9/2(+18%) | (8) Opal Storm 9/2, Improved to spring a 66/1 surprise in 10-runner handicap at Carlisle (5f, good to firm) at the start of this month and looked unlucky not to finish closer when fourth of 14 in handicap at Redcar (5f, good) 9 days ago. Ranks high on the shortlist. Improved efforts the last twice; met some trouble latest; yet to reach her ceiling. |

Blazing Hot |
(2) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (2) Blazing Hot 12/1, Second over C&D in June and wasn't disgraced from falling mark when third of 7 in handicap at Doncaster (5f, soft) 68 days ago. First run for yard after leaving David C. Griffiths. Cheekpieces back on. Probably needs a couple of these to falter. 0-21 on turf but he's a regular AW winner and starts out for new yard on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Smooch |
(11) (14/1 +30%)14/1(+30%) | (11) Smooch 14/1, Has struggled across 3 starts in handicap company and though she's got fewer miles on the clock than most of her rivals here, she'll need to improve to figure. First two runs this season were promising but backward steps since; drops back in trip. |

Tilia Cordata |
(7) (14/1 -180%)14/1(-180%) | (7) Tilia Cordata 14/1, Improved on recent efforts to sharing spoils in 6-runner handicap (6/1) at Salisbury (5f, good) 49 days ago. Has to be taken seriously from 3 lb higher mark, despite widest draw. Tenth time lucky when dead-heating at Salisbury seven weeks ago; this is tougher up 3lb. |

Van Gerwen |
(5) (15/2 +53%)15/2(+53%) | (5) Van Gerwen 15/2, Four-time C&D winner, including when opening his account for the year here in August. Not in same form in a pair of outings since, though wouldn't be out of it if able to bounce back. Loves it here and won well last month but it won't be easy trying to dominate today. |

Hard to have faith in until issues at stalls are rectified. 0-10 for John Quinn; developing an aversion to the stalls and best watched on stable debut. |

Best watched after 155 days off. Sole success came on AW (6f); off since a poor run at Catterick in April; best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
DARK CRUSADE has run with plenty of credit on both starts this season and the lightly-raced gelding remains open to further improvement in his bid to shed the maiden tag. Tilia Cordata forced a dead-heat at Salisbury on her latest outing and she is likely to go well despite a 3lb rise. The shortlist is completed by Yazaman and Opal Storm.
OPAL STORM took a notable step forward when scoring at Carlisle earlier in the month and shaped as if still on a fair mark at Redcar last time, so she's taken to get the better of the high-drawn Tilia Cordata, who produced a career best when dead-heating at Salisbury last time. Dark Crusade was in the frame behind the selection at Carlisle and can give a good account again.
Blazing Hot is interesting on his stable debut but OPAL STORM is on the up and she can register her second win.

Stable in good form so she merits serious consideration if building on that effort. Third over just shy of 6f at Sligo (soft) in April and not seen since; bred to stay. |

Beauty Bella |

DUMB LOVE posted a third place in a fillies' maiden on soft ground at Naas last month which has to give her every chance here. She wasn't at her best on her next start, but is taken to bounce back in first-time blinkers. Perseids sets the standard with runner-up berths banked at Naas and Dundalk, but testing ground is a nagging concern. Her dam was more than capable on slow ground so she could handle it and, if she does, she has sound claims. Local Girl acquitted herself well in second on slow ground at Leopardstown in July and gets first-time cheekpieces. She has plenty to find at these weights, but testing ground could make things interesting. Hasiyna is returning off a break and represents an in-form Dermot Weld, so a market check is advised.
Not an easy maiden to assess and Dermot Weld's twice-raced filly HASIYNA is taken to come out on top if, as expected, building on her encouraging Sligo third after an absence. Perseids and Dumb Love both have the form to have a big say if back on their A-games and can chase home the selection in that order.
The Hartys might strike here with CATWALK COUTURE who made a promising debut at Naas a year ago; Hasiyna looks a danger

More needed now handicapping. Nursery debut; placed on all three runs & this 525,000gns yearling is open to improvement. |

Lambert |
(3) (5/2 +50%)5/2(+50%) | (3) Lambert 5/2, Completed quick-fire hat-trick in a 9-runner Kempton novice (1m) on his penultimate start and shaped bit better than distance beaten suggests when sixth in valuable minor event at Doncaster (6.5f) 2 weeks ago. Not out of things on nursery debut. Landed selling/novice hat-trick before sixth in sales race; could have more to offer. |

Blown Away |
(1) (9/4 -13%)9/4(-13%) | (1) Blown Away 9/4, Promising sort who came out on top with plenty to spare when defeating re-opposing Stormy Waves by 1¾ lengths in a Chelmsford novice (1m) 14 days ago. In excellent hands and very much of interest now handicapping with prospect of more to come. Won at Chelmsford on third start and has the potential to be better than his opening mark. |

Caelan |
(8) (11/1 +31%)11/1(+31%) | (8) Caelan 11/1, Tamayuz gelding who overcame inexperience to make a winning debut in 10-runner Kempton maiden (7f) in August, quickening to lead post. Could only run to a similar level under a penalty when fourth in a Southwell novice (7f) subsequently and more needed now handicapping. Won on debut then fourth next time, both over 7f; could do with settling better now at 1m. |

The Camden Colt |
(4) (14/1 +44%)14/1(+44%) | (4) The Camden Colt 14/1, Displayed fairly useful form when off the mark at second attempt in a Haydock maiden (6f) in May. However, exploits rather mixed subsequently, below best when fifth of 7 in a Doncaster nursery (7f) 2 weeks ago. Needs to bounce back tackling 1m for the first time. This return to better ground could help & pedigree indicates he'll stay this far; possible. |

Ran another solid race when third in stronger company at Doncaster (6.5f) 2 weeks ago and she may yet have more to offer now stamina is drawn out further. Centurion Dream |
(7) (22/1 -38%)22/1(-38%) | (7) Centurion Dream 22/1, Kodiac colt who got back on track returned to a sounder surface when close-up third in 6-runner Bath nursery (1m) 12 days ago, despite still showing signs of inexperience. This rates a tougher affair but blinkers could put an extra edge on him. Did well to go close on nursery debut at Bath and could play a leading role. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BLOWN AWAY won well despite running green in the closing stages over 1m at Chelmsford last time and he is likely to continue his upward trajectory on his nursery bow. Granny Budgie was not disgraced in a valuable event at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago and could prove to be the main danger, although Stormy Waves and Centurion Dream should not be discounted.
The well-bred BLOWN AWAY impressed when opening his account at the third attempt in a Chelmsford novice over this trip 2 weeks ago and, with further progress anticipated from this scopey colt, he earns the vote to follow up on nursery debut. I'm Puzzled and Granny Budgie head up the dangers, with Lambert another to consider.
Topweight BLOWN AWAY (nap) was a cosy winner from Stormy Waves at Chelmsford a fortnight ago and can follow up on nursery debut.

Bal De Rio (11,000 euros) has excelled in races of this nature and starting off for James McAuley, it'll come as no surprise if he adds to his tally. STARMAN finished behind the admirable 10-year-old at Bellewstown last month, but with a swing in the weights, he might be able to reverse the form. In for just 5,000 euros, the Declan Queally-trained selection was outclassed at Navan on his most recent start and should appreciate this drop in grade. Rotten Row (15,000 euros) has been in fine form of late and it'll be disappointing if he is not involved towards the business end. Already a four-time winner, he is rated 10lb higher over the larger obstacles. Returning to flights for the first time in well over a year, Coole Arcade (5,000 euros) is capable of making his presence felt, while the 115-rated Kashi (15,000 euros) is another that warrants respect.
STARMAN wasn't disgraced in the face of a stiff task at Navan recently and could be the way to go back in a claimer. Bal de Rio was just ahead of him in a similar event at Bellewstown last month and can go well again. Rotten Row is another to consider.

That gruelling race may have left a mark given that he struggled subsequently, but he remains with potential making his chase/handicap debut. Last season fizzled out but he was third in Grade 1 novice hurdle in December; chase debut. |

Pats Choice |
(3) (9/2 +0%)9/2(+0%) | (3) Pats Choice 9/2, Fairly useful hurdler who has performed to a similar level over fences, fortunate when winning handicap chase at Wexford (17f) in June having been left clear at the last. Snake Roll |
(2) (10/11 -10%)10/11(-10%) | (2) Snake Roll 10/11, Wide-margin winner of 2 of first 3 starts over hurdles and back on the up on his final 2 outings last season. Still in need of the experience but shaped well when runner-up at this course (20.1f) in April and he appeals as the type to make a better chaser. Leading contender. Useful novice hurdler last season and a very good chasing prospect for the season ahead. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Attitash |
(4) (50/1 +0%)50/1(+0%) | (4) Attitash 50/1, Twelve runs since his sole win (over hurdles) back in 2021. On his second chase start, ran up to his recent best when third in handicap at Downpatrick (17.7f) in August and not discredited back hurdling next 2 outings. Looks up against it, though. Engaged 3.30 here Wednesday. Soundly beaten over C&D yesterday despite market support; 16lb out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Third in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury on New Year's Eve, Idalko Bihoue is very interesting on his chasing debut today and could be tough to beat if at his best. However, he was a well-beaten last of five at Ayr when on his latest outing in April and has a few questions to answer, so the vote goes to SNAKE ROLL. A decent novice over timber himself, he was third in a Grade 2 at Kelso in March and looks the type to be suited by larger obstacles for local handler Lucinda Russell. Pats Choice has chase experience on his side and Gordon Elliott's six-year-old is very much respected on his easy handicap success over fences at Wexford in June.
SNAKE ROLL had an encouraging first season over hurdles, shaping well amidst inexperience when edged out on the line in a handicap at this course in April, and he looks a useful prospect to go chasing (made the frame all 3 starts in Irish points). He is taken to get the better of fellow chase debutant Idalko Bihoue, who remains with potential.
The two chasing debutants have considerable potential. SNAKE ROLL has less to prove than Idalko Bihoue and is given the vote.

FLAVOUR MAKER stepped forward from his racecourse bow when filling the runner-up spot at Windsor earlier this month. That performance sets a fairly decent standard and he wouldn't need to improve much to get off the mark. Triggerman is capable of being in the mix following his second at Newcastle last month, while Sala Da Ballo appeals most of the remainder.
FLAVOUR MAKER was much sharper on his second start when runner-up at Windsor earlier this month and he can continue his progress to get off the mark. The main danger could be Triggerman, who also improved from his debut when just failing at Newcastle on his latest outing, while Quantum Force is another who merits consideration.
Roger Varian's FLAVOUR MAKER should appreciate this stiffer track after running on into second at Windsor.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LISIEUX looks the part. This Camacho filly finished third at Listowel last week when only collared in the closing stages. The form was franked when the runner-up beat a big field in Cork on Tuesday. Crucially, Lisieux has a soft-ground victory from Naas last year in her locker and she is on a very handy mark. Yuzu has shown ability on rain-softened ground in better races. The assessor has dropped her by 4lb, so she should be very competitive despite the impediment of being drawn wide in stall 17. Hope And Innocence is coming down the weights and has a more than capable 7lb claimer booked. She didn't run badly in fourth at this track in July and also has form on soft ground. Bride Tree showed more in third at the Curragh and could build upon that.
Lots with chances but Sarah Dawson's low-mileage filly BRIDE TREE can race off the same mark as when an excellent Curragh third last time out so edges the vote. Irish Rumour is feared most on the back of her very good Leopardstown fourth, with top-weight Bright Dick also worth considering in an open handicap.
The top weight BRIGHT DICK probably wants further ideally but he's still well capable of winning a race of this nature

Al Simmo |
(4) (3/1 +40%)3/1(+40%) | (4) Al Simmo 3/1, Denied only narrowly on return from 9-month absence in good event at York in June and having disappointed in a Group 3 next time, wasted no time getting back to form returned to handicap company when runner-up at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 3 weeks ago. Player. Tough filly who has finished second in 2 of 3 runs this year; should remain competitive. |

Frankness |
(5) (5/2 +29%)5/2(+29%) | (5) Frankness 5/2, Opened account for the year at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) in June and resumed winning ways dropped into a less-competitive affair at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 3 weeks ago, beating Al Simmo by length. Nudged up 4 lb and fancied to be in the mix again. Strong late run to beat Al Simmo at Salisbury latest; not sure to confirm those placings. |

Gale Force Maya |
(1) (6/1 -20%)6/1(-20%) | (1) Gale Force Maya 6/1, Hit the target 5 times last year (and won this event in 2021) but not reached those levels so far this term, possibly amiss when fourteenth at York (6f, good to firm) last month. More severe headgear is enlisted, and she's not taken lightly if shrugging off her latest effort. Won this in 2021; patchy this year but York 3rd was a good run; new headgear tried today. |

Sweet Harmony |
(8) (10/1 +50%)10/1(+50%) | (8) Sweet Harmony 10/1, Stopped the slide despite taking a fierce hold on penultimate start at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) earlier this month but made little impact in a listed event at Ayr (5.5f, good to soft) 6 days ago. Likely she will come up short here. Tough going this year and opposable despite dropping down the weights. |

Kinta |
(2) (13/2 +19%)13/2(+19%) | (2) Kinta 13/2, Won first couple of starts last summer and was highly tried thereafter. Off 11 months (had breathing operation) and shaped as if needing the run on handicap debut over 1f longer trip at Chelmsford last week and a hood is applied for a return to sprinting. Return to 6f can help, as may the hood; still has something to prove though. |

Minnetonka |
(7) (15/2 -25%)15/2(-25%) | (7) Minnetonka 15/2, Doubled her career win tally in smooth style at Wolverhampton (6.1f) earlier this month and confirmed she's back to her very best from a 4 lb higher mark when runner-up at Pontefract (6f, good to soft) last week. Should give another good account. Solid efforts the last twice and the return to better ground can help; interesting. |

Alcazan |
(10) (16/1 -14%)16/1(-14%) | (10) Alcazan 16/1, Scraped home at Goodwood in August and having disappointed next time at Wolverhampton, bounced straight back to form to cause a 40/1 surprise at Yarmouth (6f, good to soft) 9 days ago. Carries a 5 lb penalty here and looks a mare on the up suddenly. Popped up at 40-1 at Yarmouth last week; vulnerable under penalty in this grade. |

River Pride |
(6) (22/1 +12%)22/1(+12%) | (6) River Pride 22/1, Better than ever when registering a third career success at Wolverhampton in March but unable to get competitive in 3 starts since, latest after 5 months off at Chelmsford a fortnight ago. Will need to take a big step forward from that to feature. This year's best has come over 7f on AW but fully effective over C&D; well held latest. |

Urban Decay |
(11) (66/1 -450%)66/1(-450%) | (11) Urban Decay 66/1, Confirmed debut promise when getting off the mark at Southwell in April but has been well beaten on both subsequent starts, latest on handicap debut at Ripon (8f, good to firm) earlier this month. Ivory Madonna |
(9) (66/1 -200%)66/1(-200%) | (9) Ivory Madonna 66/1, Remains a maiden and yet to prove she's trained on this year, failing to get home over 1m at Kempton just under 3 weeks ago. Visor applied for handicap debut, but it is easy enough to look elsewhere. Should be well treated on her 2yo form but she's been disappointing this year; new visor. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Frankness arrives here in good form after running on strongly to score over 6f at Salisbury last time, and he looks primed to offer another bold bid. However, he must defy a 4lb rise in the ratings and the reopposing Al Simmo (second) is on 2lb better terms with that rival for a one-length defeat. Therefore, slight preference is for GALE FORCE MAYA, who appears to be on an attractive mark following her disappointing effort in a valuable heritage handicap at York last time.
Plenty in with a shout but returned to 6f, Jamie Osborne's EXECUTIVE DECISION is fancied to resume her progress and make it 3 wins from her last 4 starts. Frankness and Al Simmo finished 1-2 in a similar event at Salisbury 3 weeks ago and they could be the pair to give the selection most to think about, ahead of Minnetonka, who confirmed she's back to her very best when finishing runner-up at Pontefract last week.
Gale Force Maya, a previous winner of this race, is greatly respected but MINNETONKA is thriving and bumped into one last week.

COSTANUCI might be able to follow up on her Listowel success. The John Queally-trained six-year-old came from off the pace at the County Kerry venue and ultimately won in convincing fashion. Now on a career high mark of 104, she will be ridden by Neil Ryan who claims a valuable 7lb. Handicap debutant The Grey Dove is given second preference. She made the breakthrough on her fourth start over flights at Sligo last month and is open to further progress. Theonewedreamof hinted at a return to form when a never nearer fourth at Downpatrick recently and it'll be interesting to see if she can build on that performance. In truth, it's difficult to safely rule out any of these. A solid fifth on her handicap debut here in May, Ballycashin warrants respect for Tony and Danny Mullins, while Bynx and Phils Choice are other leading hopes.
This looks competitive but CONSTANUCI clearly benefited from the step back up in trip and ultimately won with a bit to spare when landing a Listowel handicap (20f) 11 days ago and she gets the narrow vote to defy a rise in the weights. Ballycashin, back from a break, remains with potential and she's feared, along with Phils Choice and Sligo-winner The Grey Dove.

Hood goes back on but will probably need to step forward on chase debut to land a blow from out of the weights. Engaged Perth 5.12 Wednesday. Third of 12 over hurdles here yesterday (2m4f); 5lb out of weights for this chasing debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Three-time chase winner Arctic Ambition could improve for a return to fences and the Irish raider is respected, along with course scorer Uptown Harry, who returns off a 3lb higher mark than when successful at Carlisle over a similar trip in March. A step up in distance is a possible source of improvement for Lucinda Russell's Netywell, but stablemate READYSTEADYBEAU is of more interest today. He's only 4lb higher than when scoring over an extended 2m5f at Ayr in February and his performance when winning unchallenged over 3m here in April suggests he is still improving.
There's something to like about each of the sextet in this tricky handicap, but ARCTIC AMBITION has remained in form since landing a brace of handicap hurdles in May and Gordon Elliott's gelding is fancied to make the quick switch back to fences a successful one. Readysteadybeau's jumping still leaves some cause for concern but he's run out an impressive winner on both of his last 2 completed outings, whilst Petrastar has also made a bright start to his chase career and merits consideration
Gordon Elliott's versatile and consistent 8yo ARCTIC AMBITION (nap) is probably still on a workable mark and may well be the answer.

Empire Of Art benefited from the experience gained on debut when getting off the mark at Windsor last month. However, the son of Best Solution will need to improve again if he is to back that performance up under a penalty. The vote, therefore, goes to MAGICO, who is likely to appreciate a step up in trip following his third at Epsom. Zayina and Sayalittleprayer can fight it out for the minor honours.
MAGICO seems the type to go on improving with experience so gets the vote over Zayina, who offered something to work on at Beverley. Penalised winner Empire of Art is another to consider.
Preference is for the filly ZAYINA, who did well to finish fourth on her debut at Beverley last month having been caught wide.

There looks like there could be plenty of pace in this race and it may be worth taking a chance on SPECKLED MEADOW. S-he couldn't get involved from a wide draw when finishing mid-division at Galway, but is better judged on her running-on second over an extended 7f at Leopardstown on her penultimate start. She is a confirmed mudlark and will relish these conditions. Noel Meade's Tea Olive has been off since disappointing at Leopardstown in July, but could travel into contention behind the pace on ground she will handle. The handicapper has given her a chance by easing her by 4lb. Drop The Dip was strong off the front on bottomless ground at Listowel last week, so has to be respected under the 7lb penalty. Recent winners Perfect Poise and Lady Arwen will have their supporters.
PERFECT POISE has gone the right way in handicaps since stepped back up to 1m. She was merely pushed out to see off 13 rivals at Punchestown a couple of weeks ago and could still be ahead of the assessor. Drop The Dip and Lady Arwen are other thriving sorts who are likely to have a say.

(1) (4/1 +0%)4/1(+0%) | (1) Alyanaabi 4/1, Off the mark at the first time of asking in 5-runner novice at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) and stepped up on that when fourth in a hot listed race at Ascot in July. Likely to progress further so high on shortlist. Salisbury winner whose Ascot fourth (Listed) can be upgraded; commands respect. |

Zabriskie Point |
(14) (8/1 +50%)8/1(+50%) | (14) Zabriskie Point 8/1, Winner at Leicester on debut and steadily progressive since, resuming winning ways when defying penalty at Thirsk 10 days ago. That looked a good race for the track so respected. Likeable dual winner but this company demands a new high from him. |

Military |
(8) (9/4 +25%)9/4(+25%) | (8) Military 9/4, 375,000 gns yearling, Siyouni colt. Dam, winner up to 9f (2-y-o 7f winner), half-sister to useful winner up to 1¼m Garcia. Backed as if defeat was out of the question and duly looked a good prospect when making a winning debut at Naas with plenty in hand. Should make considerable progress. Debut winners from this yard are usually smart and this colt won well at Naas. |

Eben Shaddad |
(5) (10/3 +0%)10/3(+0%) | (5) Eben Shaddad 10/3, Won 12-runner novice at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) on debut 33 days ago. That probably wasn't a particularly strong race by Newmarket standards but he's clearly well-regarded (entered in the Dewhurst) and is completely unexposed. Didn't beat much on the July course but it looked good and he has a Dewhurst entry. |

Boiling Point |
(2) (12/1 +52%)12/1(+52%) | (2) Boiling Point 12/1, Took a step forward to open his account in clear-cut fashion in 10-runner novice at Thirsk (7f, good to soft) 19 days ago, suited by way race developed. Difficult ask here, however. Easy Thirsk winner; an RPR of 86 that day hints at limitations in this company. |

Dam winner up to 1½m (2-y-o 7f winner). 9/4, won novice at Haydock (8f, good to firm) on debut 21 days ago, finishing strongly. May well do better. Got up in the nick of time at Haydock (1m); the second runs in the opening maiden. |

(6) (25/1 -150%)25/1(-150%) | (6) Inishfallen 25/1, Progressive son of Exceed And Excel who ran a cracker stepped up to 7f when close third of 20 in York nursery and took form to another level when just denied in Solario at Sandown, albeit having the run of the race. Not taken lightly. Dictated matters up front when going close in the Group 3 Solario; probably flattered. |

Son Of Man |
(10) (25/1 -56%)25/1(-56%) | (10) Son Of Man 25/1, Dark Angel gelding. Half-brother to 1m-1½m winner Kingstown and 2-y-o 7f winner Gold As Glass. Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut in 10-runner novice at Yarmouth (6f, good to soft) on debut 9 days ago, staying on well. This a big step up but sure to progress. Made up a lot of late ground to win going away over 6f last week at Yarmouth; promising. |

Soldier's Gold |
(9) (25/1 +0%)25/1(+0%) | (9) Soldier's Gold 25/1, Soldier's Call colt who won Carlisle novice and Ascot nursery (both 6f) in midsummer. Good fifth of 20 in nursery at York and backed that up when fourth of 17 in valuable sales race at Doncaster. Others have more potential, however. Useful and armed with plenty of experience but should be playing for the places.. |

Knew his job when making a winning debut at Yarmouth 9 days ago but this is a big ask. Gelded the day after his Yarmouth win nine days ago; form doesn't look good enough. |

World Of Darcy |
(13) (250/1 -150%)250/1(-150%) | (13) World Of Darcy 250/1, Made a perfect start at Pontefract and some good efforts in defeat upped in grade since, though disappointed at York latest. Significantly up in trip. First run for yard after leaving K. R. Burke. Beaten fives times since his winning debut and left Karl Burke for 26,000gns. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
The Charlie Appleby team have won this contest in two of the last three years, and they look to have another ideal candidate in LEGEND OF TIME. The son of Sea The Stars did well to get his head in front on debut at Haydock, and dropping back in trip should not inconvenience him. Military made a striking impression on his fist outing at Naas and must enter calculations, along with Alyanaabi and Solario Stakes runner-up Inishfallen.
This looks wide open but MILITARY looked a good prospect when making a winning debut at Naas 2 weeks ago and is open to considerable progress for a yard that has plenty of fire power in this division. Eben Shaddad is another well-regarded colt from a top stable so may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Alyanaabi, who shaped well in a hot listed race at Ascot.
A deep renewal of this always-strong Group 3. ALYANAABI has a major chance on RPRs after his fourth at Ascot and there's more to come.

Tony and Danny Mullins again have strong claims here with Duncarrig. The six-year-old chestnut done well to win at Navan after making a bad mistake at the last and he'll be well fancied to follow up now. The Matthew Smith-trained Ragin Cajun sprang a surprise when winning easily at Listowel last week and a reproduction of that performance would see him hard to beat. Smith also saddles GIGANTAMAX EEVEE and a chance is taken on this Mount Nelson five-year-old. She came in for plenty of market support at Listowel and was in the process of running a fine race when falling two out. Rated just 80, she is open to further progress. A case can be made for many others in this competitive affair. Shark Hanlon saddles an interesting contender in the shape of handicap debutant Chasing Chances, while Flemensreva (first-time tongue-strap), Briana Lily and More Info are other leading hopes.
Having landed an 18-runner event at Listowel with something in hand last week, RAGIN CAJUN is well worth a chance to go in again despite the penalty. Most of the others have a bit to prove but More Info and Walk In Time should give their running.

Imperial B G |
(2) (6/1 +0%)6/1(+0%) | (2) Imperial B G 6/1, Fair bumper winner but he's struggled to match that form consistently over hurdles, off the track since beating only one at Warwick in May. The Longest Day |
(7) (7/2 +0%)7/2(+0%) | (7) The Longest Day 7/2, Isn't straightforward but he finally shed his maiden tag over C&D and followed it up back here 40 days ago. Much respected in his hat-trick bid despite a 5 lb rise. Dual C&D winner on good ground last month; slower ground probably not ideal today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Return Fire |
(4) (11/4 +17%)11/4(+17%) | (4) Return Fire 11/4, Dual chase winner around 3m last November who continued in good nick in the spring. Sea Prince |
(8) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (8) Sea Prince 12/1, Has failed to complete on both his starts over fences, though he was running with credit when falling at the last at Hexham (15.6f, good) 22 days ago on his final run for Mike Smith. Not discounted back in this sphere for his new yard. Second off today's mark over C&D for Mike Smith in June; makes stable debut today. |

Pammi |
(5) (15/2 -15%)15/2(-15%) | (5) Pammi 15/2, Likeable sort who gamely bagged a sixth C&D win in 6-runner handicap hurdle 17 days ago. Up 3 lb but seems sure to be on the premises once more. Six-time C&D winner, most recently this month; unreliable nowadays but can't be ruled out. |

Ivane |
(6) (16/1 +0%)16/1(+0%) | (6) Ivane 16/1, Unreliable individual. Fair sixth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (22f, soft) 63 days ago. Difficult ask at these weights on what he's shown. Engaged 5.12 here Wednesday. Best result when fourth of 12 here (2m4f, heavy) yesterday, travelling well long way. |

Solway Primrose |
(9) (33/1 +0%)33/1(+0%) | (9) Solway Primrose 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden hurdler. Off 10 months before fading fourth of 6 to Pammi in handicap over C&D 17 days ago. Needs to build on it from 5 lb out of the handicap though. Only fourth of six over C&D on handicap debut and effectively 2lb higher today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Pammi struck by a short head in a three-way duel to the line over C&D last time and she has only been raised 3lb for that display, which should keep her in contention. However, the vote goes to THE LONGEST DAY, who had the former well-held over C&D last month when accounting for his rivals by a length and a half. The son of Milan could prove very hard to beat off 5lb higher. Return Fire completes the shortlist on his return to this sphere.
RETURN FIRE proved a consistent sort over fences last term and has run well off a break too so is worth siding with to capitalise on a lenient-looking mark back over hurdles. Pammi has a superb record round here and rates a big threat, while in-form maiden Tango Theatre ought to be in the shake-up too in an open handicap.
Preference is for TANGO THEATRE, who has posted some very creditable performances in defeat this year and certainly deserves a win.

Yet to build on that though and was below form sporting first-time cheekpieces at Goodwood (9.9f, soft) 8 weeks ago. Needs to get back on track. Needs a step forward but this 3yo is in top hands and things could click at some point. |

(4) (5/1 -50%)5/1(-50%) | (4) Chriszoff 5/1, 3 wins from 5 runs this year, latest at Ayr in July. 5/6, good second of 5 in handicap at Ayr (10f, heavy) a couple of months ago. Open to further improvement and first-time cheekpieces may well eke out that bit extra. Player. Denied four-timer most recently but still ran well and this 3yo is a key player. |

Two wins in the summer and this lightly raced 4yo could still have more to offer. |

Lightening Company |

Baryshnikov |
(7) (20/1 -135%)20/1(-135%) | (7) Baryshnikov 20/1, C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Seventh of 10 in handicap (5/1) at Chester (10.3f, soft) 12 days ago. Seems to have gone off the boil of late, so best to look elsewhere. Well handicapped on form as recent as June but not at the same level more recently. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A chance is taken on LIGHTENING COMPANY, who has been dropped 1lb in the ratings after running into a modest third in a handicap at Doncaster last time. He can make his presence felt. Ben Haslam's charge was slowly away on that occasion and he is likely to be seen in a better light should he get off on terms. First Impression rates as the biggest danger to the selection following his second over the extended 1m2f at Chester, while Theoryofeverything also commands respect.
FIRST IMPRESSION has looked back to something like his very best in recent starts so John Quinn's 6-y-o is fancied to notch a sixth career victory at the expense of King Lear, who went down fighting behind a progressive one returning from a long absence at Goodwood earlier this month and he should have more to offer now handicapping. Chriszoff and Theoryofeverything can do battle for third spot.
The 3yo CHRISZOFF has improved with each of his five starts, posting three wins in the process, and he's taken to land another one.

STEP BACK IN TIME has hit a bit of form and has prospects of doubling her career total. She made the breakthrough off a lowly mark in Navan at the start of the month and showed that her new rating wasn't beyond her when finishing a close fourth at Fairyhouse. Both of those races were in a slightly higher grade than this one. Distillate suffered a nightmare journey when fifth at Down Royal on Monday. She was caught in the closing stages at Navan by Step Back In Time, so has to rate a danger and this ground won't inconvenience her. Eruption is certainly on a mark she can be competitive off. Distillate's stablemate, Zig Zag Zyggy, won here in July. His form is in and out, however, he is capable on a going day but wouldn't want the ground too deep.
STEP BACK IN TIME is in top form and could be the way to go in this handicap. Catherine Chroi and Eruption are a couple of others to consider.
Last year's second REALTIN FANTASY isn't the easiest to win with but has conditions in her favour and is nicely drawn

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
An impressive winner on his return in a conditions race at Salisbury recently, last year's Ebor victor TRAWLERMAN sets a lofty standard on form and he can take this en route to another possible tilt at the Long Distance Cup at Ascot. Shandoz remains relatively unexposed over such distances and has the potential to improve, while Enemy is winless since January but cannot be ruled out.
TRAWLERMAN ran away with a Salisbury conditions event earlier in the month and with his stamina also proven over this 2m trip last year's Ebor scorer looks hard to beat. Enemy could be the one to chase him home.
Last year's Ebor winner TRAWLERMAN was back on song when easily winning a conditions race at Salisbury recently and gets the nod.

(1) (5/2 -25%)5/2(-25%) | (1) Bella Bliss 5/2, Fairly useful chaser. 3 wins from 6 runs this season. 8/11, finished alone in 2-runner handicap chase at Kelso (23.4f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Can go well in bid to remain unbeaten over fences. Won a match at Kelso last time after winning a Ballinrobe beginners; handles soft; player. |

Iridescent |
(2) (7/2 -75%)7/2(-75%) | (2) Iridescent 7/2, Fairly useful chaser. 3 wins from 5 runs this season. Latest win in chase at Wexford in August. 4/1, good second of 8 in handicap chase at Galway (22.5f, soft) 17 days ago. Improving over fences and big shout on these terms. Much improved lately over hurdles and fences; fine 2nd at Galway last time; solid chance. |

IRIDESCENT should be able to put his experience to good use. Two from three over fences, the Jonathan Fogarty-trained nine-year-old has a rating of 121. He finished second to Glenquin Castle at Galway earlier this month and this looks a good opportunity for him to register a fifth career success. Starting off over the larger obstacles, The Short Go is given second preference. The Fame And Glory bay finished no worse than third on his first five starts, but disappointed when a well-beaten sixth of eight on his latest outing at Ballybrit. Bella Bliss is the other leading hope and is two from two since switching to fences. She done well to strike on her chasing debut at Ballinrobe, before following up when coming home alone in a two-runner contest at Kelso. Alex Harvey again takes the ride on the Getaway six-year-old, with the capable amateur claiming a valuable 7lb.
IRIDESCENT took another step forward in defeat in a Galway handicap chase last time and could edge out Bella Bliss who is 2-2 in this sphere. The Short Go is clearly of interest going chasing for Henry de Bromhead but it's not certain he'll stay 3m.

This test more suitable but he's 6 lb wrong at the weights. Engaged to run 2.55 here on Wednesday. 1-26 over hurdles, always behind here on Wednesday; 6lb out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BURBANK sprung a surprise at huge odds over an extended 3m2f around here on his latest outing in April, but that success hardly looked like a fluke, considering his superiority over the opposition on the day. The veteran ought to hold every chance of recording a double off a 4lb higher rating. The main danger is Stuzzikini on his handicap bow for the Gordon Elliott stable after his third at Killarney, while Monochromix completes the shortlist following some promising efforts over timber last season.
A chance is taken on the unexposed Lucinda Russell handicap newcomer MONOCHROMIX, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong back from his break. Fellow handicap debutant Stuzzikini is feared most for the Gordon Elliott team.
Less exposed and upped to a trip he's probably been waiting for, MONOCHROMIX is taken over fellow handicap debutant Stuzzikini.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ANOTHER GIFT has been a model of consistency of late and she was denied a four-timer recently by a well-handicapped rival. This looks a good opportunity to get back to winning ways as Ed Dunlop's charge was a clear second at Yarmouth and there could be more in the locker. Last-time-out winner Beyond Borders is feared most after winning a competitive Racing League contest over 6f at Wolverhampton, while better can be expected of Whoop Whoop.
It's tough to get away from BEYOND BORDERS, who showed improved form to resume winning ways at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago and Karl Burke's colt can continue his upward trajectory returned to turf. Another Gift had her winning run ended at Yarmouth last week but remains in top form so heads up the dangers, with Whoop Whoop and Swordplay completing the shortlist.
Swordplay is respected but fellow topweight BEYOND BORDERS (nap) is taken to defy a 6lb rise for his Wolverhampton success.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A very tricky puzzle. ZENON hasn't been seen on a racecourse since winning a good pot at Killarney in August 2020 but, interestingly, he holds an entry in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket next month which indicates that he is training well. Staying trips are his forte and he enjoys deep ground. Charming Star was tough in winning over a similar trip in a maiden at Listowel. He will plough through conditions and should be no backmarker. The lightly-raced Martinstown should come on from his comeback third in Roscommon at the start of the month. He is clearly talented, as evidenced by landing a hot maiden in Cork last year, but he may not want the ground to be deep. Joseph O'Brien's Roaring Gallagher could be an improver up in trip with Conor Stone-Walsh's 7lb claim a bonus.
STAR HARBOUR has acquitted himself well in some competitive handicaps in Britain in recent weeks and this looks a good opportunity for another win. Aidan O'Brien's Martinstown can give him most to think about ahead of Mr King.
The highest rated in the race STAR HARBOUR has still to convince at this trip but he could just get away with it around this track

First-time blinkers worn on that occasion are quickly discarded. Flopped at Ascot just 19 days ago but considerable promise previously and not written off. |

Tenerife Sunshine |
(7) (13/2 -63%)13/2(-63%) | (7) Tenerife Sunshine 13/2, Won a course maiden as a juvenile. Not seen this year until winning an 11f Kempton handicap at the end of August. Left the impression he had something left (pricked his ears through most of final 1f) and it's likely there's more to come from this lightly-raced 3-y-o. Unexposed 3yo who won on belated reappearance and could have more left in the tank. |

Ridden too aggressively in Melrose at York and quickly back to form when second of 9 at Ascot (1½m, good to firm) 19 days ago. Progressive in these cheekpieces (bar one blip) and this 3yo is firmly in calculations. |

Only nudged up 2 lb but this is a stronger race. 3yo who has won twice this season, but suspicion she'll be vulnerable now back up in grade. |

Saratoga Gold |
(4) (25/1 +24%)25/1(+24%) | (4) Saratoga Gold 25/1, Won an AW handicap over this trip at Kempton in July but has been operating below his best since. A bounce back is needed in refitted blinkers. Bolted up at Kempton in July but has failed to fire on his last four starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
MARHABA THE CHAMP was value for more than the winning margin when scoring on his first go over this distance at York last time out, and he can overcome the burden of top weight to follow up under Ryan Moore. Kevin Ryan's charge is preferred to Kempton scorer Tenerife Sunshine and Spectacular Style, who could not have done it any easier at Hamilton and now makes his handicap debut. Splendent and Victory Dance have the form to get involved as well.
MARHABA THE CHAMP's York Ebor meeting win looks very solid form so he might be able to see off the 3-y-o contingent, headed by Spectacular Style and Tenerife Sunshine, who are lightly raced types from leading stables and likely have more to offer.
The return to this C&D could be a plus for CRYSTAL DELIGHT, who was a good second here in May and is now 2lb lower.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The progressive CAVE COURT is officially 6lb well in and is difficult to oppose as he bids for his fourth success in a row. Upped 13lb for winning at Listowel last week, the Noel Kelly-trained six-year-old will carry a 7lb winners penalty. His cause is further aided by the 7lb claim of Oran McGill. An easy winner at Killarney on his penultimate start, General Clermont is given second preference. He failed to make an impact when attempting to follow-up at Listowel last week and switching to fences now, an improved performance can be expected. Barbaha Queen has a good record at Clonmel and might be able to make an impact with Danny Mullins aboard. Downpatrick winner Padraic's Choice, admirable veteran Seskin Flyer and Ballinrobe runner-up Itsalonglongroad are others for the shortlist.
A dual winner over hurdles, CAVE COURT marked himself down as one to keep firmly on side when opening his chase account with plenty to spare at Listowel 6 days ago and, with his rider's claim off-setting his penalty, he can complete the 4-timer. Padraic's Choice cashed in off a basement mark on return at Downpatrick in August and a repeat gives him a shout. Itsalonglongroad should also be in the mix.
This should be at the mercy of CAVE COURT, who continued his good recent work back over fences last week at Listowel.

(7) (20/1 +0%)20/1(+0%) | (7) Tankardstown Diva 20/1, €5,000 3-y-o, Jukebox Jury filly. Dam, ran once over hurdles, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (21f winner) Amrons Sage. Fell sole start in Irish points (Apr 21). Others more appealing. Towards rear when falling at fifth fence on Irish point debut in April; makes rules debut. |

Last of 4 finishers sole outing in point (Apr 22). Hard to fancy. Safely held when last of four finishers in 2m4f maiden point in April; rules debut today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Al Kalila shaped well on his debut under Rules over C&D to finish third and may find normal progression to get involved. However, the one to side with is TOMMYS LAW, who was a 75,000 pounds purchase after his two runner-up efforts in point-to-points and he could be ready to strike at the first time of asking. Any market support for the son of Shirocco, Bogleyburn, should be respected.
TOMMYS LAW was picked up for £75,000 after finishing runner-up on both point starts and he's worth a chance to make a successful debut under Rules. His stablemate Backdoorflush makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and Al Kalila is an obvious player having finished third over C&D on debut a couple of months ago.
C&D third AL KALILA probably sets a fair standard of rules form and is taken to enhance Stuart Crawford's very good bumper record.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
It was a weaker race in which All About Alice blitzed the field at Lingfield 29 days ago, but while she has also previously won over 1m3f on this circuit, a 5lb higher mark means she needs to register another personal best. With that in mind, HUSCARI appears worth chancing off 4lb lower than her only previous winning mark. Nicola Currie knows the filly well and the partnership can provide some value. The consistent Lord Torranaga and recent Lingfield winner Induro De Fontaine are also considered.
ALL ABOUT ALICE won in taking style at Lingfield 4 weeks ago and looks well at home on the AW so there is a good chance she can go in again. Huscari is feared, while Buganvillea and Cape Point might step up now handicapping at this low level.
The obvious candidate is Dylan Cunha's emphatic Lingfield scorer \bALL ABOUT ALICE\. She looks fairly treated from just a 5lb higher mark.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A taking winner over C&D on his penultimate start, ROGUE TORNADO has since run with credit over further, and he remains on a workable mark with Ross Coakley taking over in the saddle. He is narrowly preferred to Dashing Panther, who has done very well since upped to this distance and conditions look to be in his favour once more. Gift Of Raaj and Myboymax are capable of being in the shake-up too.
Having got off the mark at this C&D in July, ROGUE TORNADO bumped into one who is thriving when runner-up at Salisbury last time, so he is taken to resume winning ways back at this venue. Dashing Panther is respected having shown improved form upped to this trip in handicaps, with Myboymax completing the shortlist.
Tom Clover's ROGUE TORNADO might be the answer provided a sound surface isn't important to him.

John McConnell's DULEEK STREET was an emphatic winner of a maiden hurdle on soft ground at Cartmel last month, so has to be appealing off a mark of 56 as he reverts back to the Flat. In addition, Siobhan Rutledge takes 3lb off his back. Narlita just gets into this grade and has to be feared. She just lost out by the minimum margin over a shorter trip at Gowran Park in May. She stays this trip and is used to competing in higher classes of races. Katonah caught a tartar when second in Listowel after travelling well on the deep ground and should be in contention. Nusra will enjoy these conditions and arrives on the back of a victory in an apprentice handicap at Ffos Las last month.
DULEEK STREET arrives on the back of a ready hurdle success at Cartmel last month and there really ought to be a race in him off this sort of mark on the Flat. Katonah and Snowhaven arrive on the back of good runs in 3-y-o only events and are feared most ahead of ahead of the selection's stablemate St Cianans.
Having been denied a clear run at Listowel KATONAH did well to stay on for second over this trip in tesing ground and gets the vote

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
VICTORIA FALLS arrives in search of a hat-trick of victories having backed up her success on the July course at Thirsk last week. The four-year-old has to carry a 5lb penalty, but she may prove difficult to stop based on her current form. Ranger Thunderbolt shaped as though the return to a mile would aid his cause when runner-up at Newbury last time. Ventura Rascal, Restrict and Kimifive appeal most of the remainder.
RESTRICT resumed progress and was unfortunate not to win at Newbury a month ago, so he's a confident choice for all that this is quite a competitive event for the grade. The hat-trick seeking Victoria Falls is a threat along with Ranger Thunderbolt.
Recent Ayr runner-up VENTURA RASCAL is taken to go one better at a track that should suit his prominent style.

JET SETTING JIM might be able to reverse Listowel form with Noble Talent. The pair were second and fourth behind Chosen Templar at the Co Kerry venue last week, with the selection coming in for plenty of market support. Settled towards rear, the Jet Away gelding was probably given too much to do and while he made good late progress, he ultimately couldn't reel in the principals. Noble Talent didn't go unsupported at the Harvest festival and it'll come as no surprise if he manages to go a place better. Placed three times from three starts, Royal Hollow is another leading contender. She finished well ahead of Chosen Templar at Killarney on her most recent outing and with Adam Ryan claiming a valuable 7lb, she is sure to go close. Wisteria Bloom and Barton Snow both warrant respect, while newcomer Ebony Jade is an interesting contender with Patrick Mullins a significant jockey booking. The Kalanisi bay is a half-brother to Mias Storm, a classy eight-time winner in the UK.
ROYAL HOLLOW travelled with purpose again when runner-up at Killarney a month ago and this looks an ideal opportunity for her to open her account unless Ebony Jade proves to be an above-average newcomer. Wisteria Bloom is another player if tuned up back from a year off.
The mare ROYAL HOLLOW bumped into a smart prospect last time at Killarney and this looks easier.

Zaphea |
(6) (4/1 -14%)4/1(-14%) | (6) Zaphea 4/1, Winner at Musselburgh (5f) earlier this month and ran at least as well in defeat from 5 lb higher mark when second at Catterick (5f, soft) 5 days ago. Solid claims in present groove. In form this month granted a sharp turf 5f and cut; 4lb well in and down slightly in grade. |

Amroon |
(8) (5/2 +82%)5/2(+82%) | (8) Amroon 5/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Tongue strap on for 1st time, eleventh of 13 in maiden (100/1) at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 24 days ago. Will hold more chance now handicapping and worth noting if the market speaks in his favour. Big uplift needed but best run was on Tapeta and the drop to 5f looks a possible plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Raft Up |
(4) (7/2 +22%)7/2(+22%) | (4) Raft Up 7/2, Proved much shorter in betting and showed much more than previously when second of 8 in nursery at Brighton (5.2f) in August, challenging final 1f and just failing. Merits consideration with a repeat. Almost defied refusal to settle at Brighton latest; wide trip on Tapeta the time before. |

Zola Power |
(3) (7/2 -56%)7/2(-56%) | (3) Zola Power 7/2, Lightly raced maiden who ran up to best when second of 7 in nursery at Kempton (6f) 15 days ago, bursting clear 2f out but not quite getting home. Return to the minimum trip a plus and he's a player. Second on Polytrack (5f, 6f) the past twice, committing early latest; live contender. |

Elliott |
(5) (11/1 +56%)11/1(+56%) | (5) Elliott 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, sixth of 10 in minor event at Haydock (6f, good to firm) 21 days ago. That effort wasn't devoid of encouragement and he may yet have more to offer now handicapping. Needs to leave maiden/novice form behind but these are easier waters and he drops in trip.. |

Reflexion Faite |
(2) (17/2 +23%)17/2(+23%) | (2) Reflexion Faite 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 13/2, ran respectably when fifth of 7 on nursery debut at Ripon (5f, good) 30 days ago, losing place around 2f out before keeping on again. Eased 2 lb ahead of this but a return to 6f may suit ideally. Down 2lb today but the race got away from her at a vital stage on last two starts. |

Lotting's Lass |
(12) (33/1 -106%)33/1(-106%) | (12) Lotting's Lass 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Below form 5¼ lengths fifth of 9 to Zaphea in nursery (13/2) at Musselburgh (5f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Makes tapeta debut with something to find. Over 5l behind Zaphea on turf last time, albeit with excuses; switches surface now. |

Quiet Affair |

Bella Camina |
(13) (50/1 -355%)50/1(-355%) | (13) Bella Camina 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, showed more than previously when third of 10 in nursery at Carlisle (5f, good to firm) 21 days ago, every chance entering final 1f and keeping on. Needs to pull out more however to figure here. Career-best form when third at Carlisle (5f, good to firm) but comes with risks attached. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A comfortable winner at Musselburgh on her penultimate start, it is no surprise to see ZAPHEA turned out quickly after she went down by just a head in her bid for back-to-back wins at Catterick on Saturday. Currently 4lb well-in, the daughter of Dandy Man is a must for consideration in this weaker race. Bella Camina is an interesting alternative from the bottom of the handicap, while Zola Power and Raft Up are others with solid place claims.
ZAPHEA matched the form of her breakthrough success at Musselburgh when finishing a sound second at Catterick 5 days ago and she looks sure to go well again in this groove. Zola Power rates the chief threat dropped back to the minimum trip ahead of Raft Up. Elliott demands a check in the betting on his handicap debut.
If the tactics are got spot on, and Raft Up and Zaphea don't settle any better, this nursery can be entrusted to ZOLA POWER.

Made all at Carlisle last month (6f, good to firm) and two solid efforts since; respected. |

Milbanke |
(5) (5/2 +44%)5/2(+44%) | (5) Milbanke 5/2, 6/1, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (6f, heavy) 54 days ago, never nearer. First run for yard after leaving Ruth Carr and he's one to be interested in from this mark. Conditions shouldn't be an issue and he starts out for a new yard off a handy mark; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Roundhay Park |
(1) (9/1 +10%)9/1(+10%) | (1) Roundhay Park 9/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 12 runs this year, latest at Ripon in August. Ran one of lesser races when last of 11 in handicap at Chester (7f, soft, 12/1) 13 days ago. Needs to bounce back quickly but can. Having a good year and conditions should suit; one to take seriously. |

Tribal Hunter |
(4) (10/3 +49%)10/3(+49%) | (4) Tribal Hunter 10/3, Won at Hamilton on second start in August 2022 and ran creditably under his penalty when fifth of 10 in minor event at Newcastle (6f) next time. Not seen for 13 months and needs a market check ahead of this handicap debut. Promise as a 2yo but not raced for 391 days; market should be revealing. |

King's Crown |
(7) (14/1 +22%)14/1(+22%) | (7) King's Crown 14/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 10/1, below form after 10 weeks off when seventh of 12 in handicap at Chester (6.1f, soft) 13 days ago. Will need to leave that effort well behind. Dropped a long way in the weights this year; handy draw and revival could be imminent. |

The Dunkirk Lads |
(8) (17/2 +29%)17/2(+29%) | (8) The Dunkirk Lads 17/2, Below form fifth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (5.6f, good, 15/2) 11 days ago. Capable from this sort of mark but he's tough to predict. In and out since his Beverley win in April but that run shows what he's capable of. |

Shandy Star |
(2) (28/1 -180%)28/1(-180%) | (2) Shandy Star 28/1, C&D winner. 20/1, failed to come on for recent run when last of 7 in handicap at this C&D (good to soft) 7 days ago. Others look stronger. Yet to shine after ten months off; conditions fine but others look stronger. |

Trilby |
(9) (66/1 -230%)66/1(-230%) | (9) Trilby 66/1, 50/1, possibly needed the run on first run since leaving George Boughey after 4 months off when fourth of 7 in minor event at Catterick (7f, good) 29 days ago. This should reveal what ability remains. Satisfactory stable debut four weeks ago and return to 6f a plus; mark looks high enough. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
An intriguing recruit to the Julie Camacho stable, MILBANKE ran with plenty of credit on his most recent start at Doncaster and, with previous form over C&D to call upon, the son of Intello can get back to winning ways. A taking winner over C&D on her penultimate outing, Emily Post commands attention along with Mersea, who has been in consistent form of late.
A tricky closing contest to solve but the vote goes to MILBANKE, who was narrowly beaten when fourth at Doncaster last month and, having moved to Julie Camacho since, he's one to be interested in from this mark with a valuable 3 lb claimer taking over in the plate. Emily Post has got her act together since the hood went on so she heads up the dangers, ahead of Mersea and the enigmatic Roundhay Park.
A trappy event but MERSEA ran creditably behind useful fillies over C&D last week and she could be the answer in a weaker race.

Back on a winning mark but might be using this to gear up for a return to AW. Below par when last seen in May but on a competitive mark on previous form this year. |

Pjanoo |
(4) (9/4 -63%)9/4(-63%) | (4) Pjanoo 9/4, Won a 1m Windsor Racing League handicap in August. Good close of fourth in 10 in another Racing League event at Wolverhampton (8.6f) since, his effort worth marking up slightly given he was forced wide from his outside stall. Big player under Buick. In fine form in these cheekpieces; the step back up in trip should be fine. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Promoter |
(3) (9/2 -80%)9/2(-80%) | (3) Promoter 9/2, Has been a little disappointing in recent starts but his mark has come down as a result and it's possible he'll benefit from today's first-time blinkers. His stable won this in 2021. Unable to threaten on last three starts but perhaps the blinkers will give him a boost. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The City's Phantom |
(2) (9/4 +63%)9/4(+63%) | (2) The City's Phantom 9/4, Back to best when third over this trip at Epsom in June but he wasn't in anything like the same form when last in a Racing League handicap at Windsor 6 weeks ago. Freshened up since. Inconsistent and well beaten last time, but previous Epsom third puts him firmly in mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
First Officer |
(5) (9/2 +36%)9/2(+36%) | (5) First Officer 9/2, Seems to be going through the motions at present, faring no better in cheekpieces (left off now) on the July course here when last seen 7 weeks ago. Needs to stage a revival. Mark continues to fall but he's been regressive this year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
PJANOO scored on his penultimate start at Windsor before following that up with a solid fourth at Wolverhampton earlier in the month. This appears to be an excellent opportunity for Richard Spencer's colt to get his head back in front. His stable companion The City's Phantom will go well if able to replicate his third in a valuable handicap at Epsom in June, while a set of blinkers may see Promoter in a better light.
It may pay to narrow this year's Challenge Whip down to the pair of 3-y-os. PJANOO's last 2 efforts in Racing League handicaps look very solid form in the context of this race and he's preferred to Promoter who has been a little disappointing so far this year but is one who could react well to blinkers.
The 3yo PJANOO has been in fine form since the cheekpieces went on and this looks a good opportunity for him to return to winning ways.

(1) (150/1 -200%)150/1(-200%) | (1) Frites 150/1, Down the field in 2 bumpers ahead of this switch to the Flat. Non-stayer in two good-ground bumpers this summer/autumn, beaten 68l at Worcester latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
While a mark of 73 is hardly insurmountable, MARIE LAVEAU sets the standard in this ordinary looking maiden and she is a strong fancy to carry to the famous colours of Kirsten Rausing to victory at this level. Being by Derby winner Sir Percy, her pedigree screams out for middle distances and she could be a different proposition having stayed on strongly near the finish over a mile at Chepstow last time. Barrel Aged and Sonnet Star are the pick of the rest.
Given how well MARIE LAVEAU settled in the hood over 1m at Chepstow last time she should have prospects of staying further (bred to) and she sets the standard here. It's a slight concern that Barrel Aged has been absent since his debut in January but he showed promise on that occasion and is feared most ahead of Sir Terrance Hadley, who was very green on his recent turf debut so could improve now.
Upped to a likely suitable trip, and proven already on Tapeta, MARIE LAVEAU probably ought to have the beating of Sonnet Star.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
HASHTAGMETOO has looked like her time could be near for a while, and she put in another pleasing effort to hit the frame over 1m4f at Wolverhampton last week. The six-year-old ought to go very close once again. Owens Lad hasn't finished out of the top two in each of his last three outings, so he has to be respected off 2lb higher than his most recent second at Ffos Las. Of the remainder, Bay Of Naples and Timewave make the most appeal in an open contest.
TIMEWAVE can boast a course success and arrives on the back of a good clear Newcastle third last time out so can resume winning ways off the same mark here. Fellow course winner Owens Lad heads the list of dangers, although Hashtagmetoo, Sarkha and Roman Art all need factoring into this open handicap too.
Top of the list is ROMAN ART (nap), who was a clear third behind two next-time-out winners over C&D in first-time blinkers last month.

310,000-euro purchase RAQEEBB shaped well on his debut to finish fourth at Chelmsford and he would have learned a great deal from that first outing. The son of Wootton Bassett can take a step forward to shed his maiden tag at the second time of asking. Of the dangers, Smart Deal looks the most eye-catching after outrunning his huge odds on his first start on the level at Chelmsford and it would be no surprise to see him involved. Any market confidence behind Running Star would be of interest.
The market should reveal plenty here but it is still hard to side against SNIPER'S EYE who holds the clear edge on form and can gain a deserved breakthrough success. Both Smart Deal and Notability are less exposed and can have a say, while Roger Varian's newcomer Inspiritus and Chelmsford fourth Raqeebb need factoring in too.
This represents an ease in grade for SNIPER'S EYE and he can get off the mark at the fifth attempt. Raqeebb can chase him home.

WAR DEFENDER give his supporters a fright as he justified favouritism by only a nose at Musselburgh on his latest outing and he remains in the same grade. The six-year-old was put up 3lb for that display, so he is still well treated on his form from last year and he can record a double. Flying Panther did it well over a mile at Kempton earlier in the month and warrants respect, while Enola Grey isn't ruled out either.
TICKETS is down the weights/in grade and is likely to come on for his recent return from 5 months off at Kempton, so a chance is taken on him to get the better of recent Musselburgh scorer War Defender. Enola Grey is another one to consider in quite an open contest.
A chance is taken that FLYING PANTHER will handle the return to Tapeta as he's been in such good form since these aids were fitted.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Ardbraccan will have his supporters following a near-miss at Brighton, but she races off a 2lb higher mark on only her second all-weather outing tonight and could be vulnerable under top-weight. Al Tarfa has filled the runner-up berth in similar events at Lingfield on his last two starts but has gone up 1lb for those and may have to play second fiddle again, this time to ABRAVAGGIO. A dual winner in the summer, he looked crying out for a return to a mile when staying on for a close-up third off this mark over 7f at Lingfield earlier this month and that form has been boosted by the sixth winning since.
AL TARFA is in top form and looked ahead of his mark when second from a long way back at Lingfield last time, so he's preferred to Adrbraccan, who has dipped to a lenient mark and got back on track recently. Abravaggio is also considered.
Second to the same very progressive rival on his last two starts, AL TARFA still looks well handicapped after a recent 1lb rise.

Will hold more chance now handicapping and worth noting if the market speaks in her favour. Didn't show her best in tough conditions at Ffos Las (1m4f); best watched on AW debut.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The manner in which ELOPED ran away with a 1m4f handicap at Wolverhampton last time suggests a 6lb rise may not be enough to halt her here, especially as the lightly-raced Hugo Palmer inmate has scope for further progress, and she is fancied to follow up. The main threat appears to be fellow double seeker Folk Star, whose 6lb hike for a narrow 1m3f victory at Kempton seems a little more harsh, while Turner Girl is another to consider after a short-head second at Lingfield off 2lb lower 12 days ago.
ELOPED quickened up best in a steadily-run race when opening her account at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago and she narrowly shades the vote to come out on top ahead of fellow last-time-out scorer Folk Star. Paradise Row can emerge best of the remainder.
A tough finale with a multitude of overlapping form lines. The determined Kempton winner FOLK STAR is narrowly preferred to Eloped.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
