13:42 Ayr Stakes (Class 4) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

CATALYSE scored with the minimum of fuss over 6f at Hamilton on debut before finishing mid-division in the Coventry at Royal Ascot. Now with his sights lowered stepping up to 7f for the first time, the Wathnan-owned colt looks the one to side with. Jorge Alvares was doing his best work late on when finishing fourth in a valuable sales race at York last month and might be the main danger to the selection now upped in trip. Of the newcomers, Magellan Cloud appeals most.

The step up in trip should suit JORGE ALVARES and he gets the nod in the opener. Stablemate Bowen Island and Catalyse look the likeliest dangers.

The choice is BOWEN ISLAND who ran well to finish fourth in the traditionally strong Convivial Maiden at York last month.

14:20 Yarmouth Handicap (Class 6) 8f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

It might pay to concentrate on those towards the top of the racecard, with the recently-gelded GLENRIDDING fancied to carry top-weight to victory on his nursery debut. His three qualifying runs have been moderately progressive and with the step up in trip an interesting move, the son of Ulysses can stamp his authority on a weak race. Vilaine Verlaine and Unex Friendly appeal as the pick of the rest.

Little in the way of worthwhile form in this but GLENRIDDING showed a bit more when fifth at Catterick on his final qualifying run and gelded ahead of this nursery debut, he may improve again. Lolapalooza and Unex Friendly are a pair of potential threats.

One possible improver in this low-grade nursery is well-bred gelding HAWAII FIVE O, who sports first-time cheekpieces.

14:42 Ayr Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

WATER OF LEITH was an unlucky third in a competitive handicap at Doncaster last week, taking up the running a furlong from home before being run down by two rivals who raced on the opposite side of the track. Off an unchanged mark and with his sights lowered slightly, he can gain compensation. Canon's House has shown enough in his qualifying runs to suggest that he warrants respect on his handicap debut, while a 4lb rise for a recent Beverley success doesn't discount the hat-trick seeking Frank The Spark.

WATER OF LEITH represents a yard in fine form and having shaped nicely away from the main action at Doncaster, he looks poised to strike. Frank The Spark arrives firmly on the up and won't go down without a fight in his quest for the hat-trick, with Music Society another to consider given the mark he's lurking on.

With his stable having a good record in this race, FRANK THE SPARK is taken to complete the hat-trick.

14:55 Naas Maiden 6f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

CURRAWOOD showed up well in third on debut at the Curragh and clearly caught a tartar when beaten into second at the same track in July. The horses that he split that day have both since delivered in Group 3 company, so the form is very strong. Aidan O'Brien's newcomer Mississippi River ticks plenty of boxes on paper. He made 850,000 guineas at Tattersalls Sales and has a couple of Group 1 entries. Furthermore, he is half-brother to a couple of Listed winners. Saracen cost a pretty penny and is in good hands for his racecourse debut, while Manhattan Chute has a mark of 88 which more than entitles him to be pitching for prize money.

CURRAWOOD has been placed in a couple of decent maidens at the Curragh and is the one to beat for the Paddy Twomey team. Aidan O'Brien has won this twice in recent years so his newcomer Mississippi River would be a possible threat if the betting vibes are positive. Fellow Ballydoyle runner Antelope Canyon is open to progress after his C&D debut fifth.

Not beaten far in two of the strongest Curragh maidens run this season, CURRAWOOD(nap) has the pace to drop down from 7f and should win

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Demoted from first to second when he caused interference near the finish at Thirsk last month, COOL LEGEND could be a different proposition now he has proven this trip is within his compass and he can put the record straight if he stays out of trouble this time. Charging Thunder has stronger credentials than some of the rest over this trip and can give the selection the most to think about, although Wahraan and the lightly-raced Prince Maxi can also get competitive on these terms.

COOL LEGEND left behind a lesser effort when first past the post at Thirsk, so he is worth another chance to open his account for the season as he makes only his second start at this trip. It also remains early days as a stayer for Environment Amigo and he is feared most, ahead of Galactic Charm.

A number of characters on show and ENVIRONMENT AMIGO looks the way to go. The expensive-to-follow Cool Legend is second choice.

15:42 Ayr Handicap (Class 2) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

Further improvement cannot be ruled out from recent Chester scorer Aviemore and another bold bid is expected. However, it could be worth taking a punt on OVIEDO, who is racing in a first-time tongue-tie and visor. Although things haven't panned out as expected for the four-year-old this season, he faces his easiest assignment for some time and a third career victory may beckon. Have Secret and Dark Moon Rising are viable alternatives.

Boasting some strong form to his name as a 3-y-o, OVIEDO shaped with more encouragement than the result suggests when eleventh at York 26 days ago. Equipped with a first-time visor/tongue tie, he could be worth siding with having eased a little more in the weights. Bennetot and recent Chester winner Aviemore are others to consider, as is Have Secret who continues to perform with credit.

The vote goes to POL ROGER who has been so consistent since May (1122223) and whose record over this C&D reads 11222.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

FORCE AND VALOUR struggled in a valuable sales race at Newmarket last time, but his previous maiden form suggests that an opening mark of 79 should be workable on his nursery debut. With that in mind, the son of Mehmas gets the vote ahead of Redorange, who has been progressive in novice company and may improve for the application of a first-time tongue-tie. Glitterati completes the shortlist.

ARDENNES was biting off more than he could chew at listed level last time but his earlier fourth in a strong Goodwood nursery makes him still of significant interest, having been dropped 1 lb since to boot. Redorange can continue on an upward curve now in a nursery, whilst Force And Valour also remains with potential.

Soft ground did for FORCE AND VALOUR in a sales race last time. He's given another chance and is preferred to Redorange.

15:55 Naas Maiden 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

WILLIAM F BROWNE's runner-up finish at Roscommon last month gives him a leading chance in this claiming maiden. There was also merit in his sixth place on debut in a Leopardstown maiden. Mighty Day also posted a second place on his latest outing when beaten less than a length in a claiming maiden at Navan. He is a likely contender for a cheque. Shocker's second at Tipperary and fourth in Bellewstown are the pick of his results and those efforts bring him into contention, while Noel Meade takes the wraps off Antoine De Paris who is worth a market check.

A reproduction of the form WILLIAM F BROWNE showed at Roscommon last time will likely be good enough now dropping into a maiden claimer. Mighty Day was second in a similar race at Navan 3 weeks ago and is second choice ahead of Eoghan O'Neill's Shocker.

It might be worth chancing SHOCKER who has a hit and miss profile but has shown enough in maidens to suggest he can land this

16:05 Pontefract Handicap (Class 5) 17f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

JUDGEMENTOFSOLOMON arrives on the back of a solid second at Chester and he's 1lb well-in on this quick turnaround. Compensation could be headed in the three-year-old's direction if running to a similar level and he shades the verdict over King Of Unicorns. Micky Hammond's gelding returned to form in first-time cheekpieces when second over 1m6f at Redcar last month and this 2m1f is likely to suit. Animato also has the form to feature.

Sole 3-y-o representative JUDGEMENTOFSOLOMON should be suited by this stiffer test of stamina and can get back to winning ways. King of Unicorns and Animato are feared most.

Sir Mark Prescott's JUDGEMENTOFSOLOMON (nap) looks set to take a big step forward now his stamina is drawn out so gets a confident vote

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

The hat-trick seeking DANCINGWITHMYSELF supplemented her Ripon victory in June with another authoritative display at the same venue two months later. A 6lb higher mark is unlikely to be the ceiling of the three-year-old's ability and she rates as the one to beat. Hamilton winner Tafsir warrants respect in her current heart, but this distance may prove on the sharp side. With that in mind, a bigger threat may emerge from the reliable Reyaadah Star.

DANCINGWITHMYSELF found further progress as she made it back-to-back wins with plenty to spare at Ripon 33 days ago and, with further progress anticipated, she can defy the assessor again back down in trip. Former C&D winner Yorkshire Lady will appreciate this step back up in trip and is feared. Reyaadah Star, whose penultimate Newmarket second is proving strong form, and Cheshire Dancer if taking up this engagement, complete the shortlist.

Preference is for CHESHIRE DANCER (nap) who was trying 1m2f for the first time when second behind a progressive rival last month.

16:30 Naas Handicap 8f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

BUCK BARROW was well beaten behind some smart performers in maidens and should benefit from stepping up to a mile. Out of a winning half-sister to Group 1 winner Dick Whittington, the selection is a half-brother to four winners and while he was outpaced on his nursery debut at Down Royal recently, finished his race really well and should progress in first-time cheekpieces. Now, a half-sister to Rip Van Winkle, has shown some promise in each of three maidens and should compete from 66, under a 5lb claimer, although it is notable Gavin Ryan stays loyal to the selection. Edergole's Angel has good nursery form but while she finished over three lengths ahead of Now at Leopardstown, is 7lb worse off.

NOW remains with potential going into nurseries and her opening mark is a fair one on the pick of her form. Edergole's Angel made a promising start to life in nurseries when runner-up at the Curragh and is next best ahead of Buck Barrow, who should be suited by the return to 1m.

NOW has shown promise and given that she's closely related to Rip Van Winkle, she may relish this step back up in trip

16:40 Pontefract Maiden (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The William Haggas stable can do little wrong at present, and WITH STYLE was a major improver on her first start for the yard when runner-up at Kempton last time out. With some improvement expected on the back of that, she can get off the mark at the main expense of Monsieur Fudge, who led for most of the contest before being worn down in the final furlong at Salisbury last time. Narrowly denied at Ffos Las on her most recent effort, Times Edition cannot be ruled out either.

TIMES EDITION upped her game when second at Ffos Las last month and looks the one to beat. With Style and Monsieur Fudge look the likeliest dangers.

With Style and MONSIEUR FUDGE have similar profiles, having finished second for new stables on their belated seasonal debuts.

16:55 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Lion Ring made most when successful at Lingfield recently and he merits respect under a penalty, but a chance is taken on SANKARI. Recent form figures wouldn't suggest he is a winner in waiting, but his handicap mark is reflective of that. The son of Ribchester drops in both trip and grade, with newly-applied cheekpieces. He is completely unexposed on the surface and should the headgear have a positive effect, he might represent some value. Thismydream is also noted.

Hard to make a compelling case for any of these but stall 1 and this sharp 5f is probably just what THE DEFIANT needs so he gets the tentative nod. Thismydream is more likely than most to give his running, with Man On A Mission another to consider back from a break.

The Defiant ought to make a bold bid but this could be the day things fall back into place for SPANISH ANGEL.

17:00 Yarmouth Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

GRACIOUS LEADER wasn't able to follow up on his Lingfield success at Kempton last month, but it was still a creditable performance. Now in the care of George Boughey, the unexposed three-year-old sports a first-time tongue-tie and he could resume progress back on the grass. Oisin Murphy gets aboard Claxton Bay for the first time and he would hold every chance if building on his recent Salisbury second. Others to note include Ratafia and Adelabella.

GRACIOUS LEADER has made a good start to life in handicaps and, with further improvement anticipated now setting out for another top stable, he's fancied to come out on top. Cavalry Call was beaten only by a well-treated rival at Lingfield last week, while Bonaventure remains unexposed at this trip and is another to consider, along with recent C&D winner Ratafia.

Plenty to consider, headed by GRACIOUS LEADER (nap), who's open to more improvement for his new yard. Maysong is next best.

17:05 Naas Maiden 7f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

ROWDY YEATS is drawn wide and has a 185-day layoff to overcome, but he showed notable form on debut and it is encouraging Colin Keane rides him over race-fit stablemate Ben Hur. He contested the season's opener on heavy ground in March when giving the subsequently Group 1-placed winner a race, while the well-held third and fifth both won afterwards. He is worryingly absent since but drops to an auction maiden and, positively, hasn't as yet been gelded. Cercene finished strongly at Gowran and while that form isn't massively strong, should progress, although she is drawn wide and concedes 1lb to the selection. Temperance received 8lb when beaten by a smart previous winner at Cork, but also concedes 1lb to the selection.

It was really encouraging how much ROWDY YEATS showed on debut over 5f and with this trip sure to suit on breeding, he seems a sure-fire improver. Cercene and Temperance are a couple of potential improvers.

It may be worth siding with CERCENE who was a big eyecatcher at Gowran on debut and that form is working out nicely

17:23 Ayr Handicap (Class 6) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Runner-up over 6f on each of his last three starts, including a narrow reversal at Catterick last time out, PROFITEER is likely to appreciate going back up in trip and he can regain the winning thread at a track that should suit his forward-going style. Top-weight Half Moon Rising arrives on a hat-trick and is 4lb well-in after a taking success at Catterick last week. He is a key player, along with Newcastle scorer Haworth Star, while others to note include Ahamoment, Jkr Cobbler and King's Crown.

The vote in a very competitive finale goes to BRAES OF DOUNE, who was an eyecatcher when third at Carlisle last week. The hat-trick seeking Half Moon Rising heads the many dangers along with Haworth Star and last year's third Rwenearlytheredad, who returned to form when third at Catterick last Tuesday.

Several have a shout but the selection goes to BRAES OF DOUNE, who has not had the cards fall right for him in his last two starts.

18:00 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

BLUE COLLAR LAD was only beaten a head into second over 7f at Lingfield a couple of weeks ago and the five-year-old merits the utmost respect on the back of that effort, despite a 2lb rise. Q Twenty Boy has not been disgraced on either start since winning over 5f here in mid-August and he should not be discounted, while Lewis Barnes and Poetic Jack are also noted.

LEWIS BARNES produced one of his better efforts for his current yard when runner-up at this course on his penultimate start, so with blinkers applied he is taken to leave his latest run behind having eased further in the weights. Don't Fight It is also on a handy mark and could be the main danger, with Blue Collar Lad also considered.

Araifjan is always feared around here but OVERNIGHT OATS has a hood back on here and is tentatively preferred.

19:30 Chelmsford Handicap (Class 5) 7f  Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

MASTER DANDY responded well for Jack Doughty when landing an apprentices' race over 6f at Lingfield last week and, given he is 3lb well-in after that first handicap success, it should pay to stick with the James Fanshawe-trained gelding, with the longer trip a potential source of further progression. Thapa VC and All Agleam have been holding their form well and have solid chances, while The Waiting Game is dangerous to underestimate.

MASTER DANDY showed improved form to resume winning ways at Lingfield under this rider last week and can further enhance his solid record on the AW off the same mark (due to go up 3 lb). It surely won't be long before Jackson Street gets off the mark judged on his excellent second at Newcastle recently and is next best ahead of the in-form Thapa Vc.

A competitive race but likely to be well run and the in-form THAPA VC is taken to get the better of Jackson Street.

20:00 Chelmsford Maiden (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SAIGON DREAM progressed from his debut run when a close second to an 80-rated rival at Kempton last month and, with further improvement likely now he steps up to a mile, this is well within reach for the son of Oasis Dream at this stage. Mr Grimes (second) finished a length in front of Mauchline (fifth) in a Lingfield maiden a fortnight ago and can give the selection some food for thought with a step forward.

SAIGON DREAM left his debut effort in his wake when finishing runner-up at Kempton 3 weeks ago, edged out only close home. A repeat should see Jack Channon's 3-y-o tough to contain. Mauchline and Mr Grimes are expected to provide chief resistance.

A weak maiden in which SAIGON DREAM is taken to prove too strong for Mauchline.
