1st (4) (5/2 -67%) Captain Corelli |
5/2(-67%) | (4) Captain Corelli 5/2, In excellent heart at present, following up his Beverley success in 9-runner handicap at Thirsk (8f, good to firm) 18 days ago, suited by way race developed. Has to be respected in his hat-trick bid. Back in good form and still on a winning mark despite recent wins at about 1m; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (17/2 -89%) Kodebreaker |
17/2(-89%) | (5) Kodebreaker 17/2, Course winner. Latest win at Doncaster in July. Not disgraced when third of 7 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good, 8/1) 29 days ago. Merits consideration. Won two most recent 1m starts; on highish mark but should be suited by return to this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/1 +10%) Retraction |
9/1(+10%) | (1) Retraction 9/1, Fair maiden who was well below form at Southwell (8.1f) 14 days ago. Eased further in the weights but has something to prove nonetheless. Hinted at a revival on sole turf run for this yard (1m); of interest off sliding mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (15/8 +69%) Jumeira Vision |
15/8(+69%) | (3) Jumeira Vision 15/8, Completed a hat-trick at Hamilton in July and has largely remained in form since. Player back down in trip. Earlier hat-trick includes C&D win; treading water since; excuse latest; needs revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (33/1 +0%) Paddy Mayne |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Paddy Mayne 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden who failed to improve switched to a handicap when tenth of 14 in handicap at Newcastle (8f, 80/1) 7 days ago. Makes turf debut and needs a big step forward. Signs of ability on AW debut at 1m but little since, including on handicap debut latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (4/1 -45%) Copper And Five |
4/1(-45%) | (2) Copper And Five 4/1, C&D winner in May who ran creditably when 3 lengths fourth of 9 to Captain Corelli in handicap at Thirsk (8f, good to firm) 18 days ago, not given at all a hard time. Not ruled out. Two of last 3 wins have come over C&D; on winning mark again and encouraging 4th latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (14/1 +0%) Tacitus |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Tacitus 14/1, C&D winner who ran poorly back on all-weather after 11 weeks off when tenth of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 10 days ago. Sole win over C&D last summer; capable of going well but not in peak form on last 2 starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Kodebreaker shaped as if this return to a mile will suit when finishing a staying-on third over 7f at Yarmouth last month and, eased 1lb, the son of Kodi Bear must be respected. That said, preference is for the hat-trick seeking CAPTAIN CORELLI. Julie Camacho's charge was last seen scoring with the minimum of fuss over a mile at Thirsk and the suspicion is that he may have gotten off lightly with just a 3lb rise. Tacitus is capable of hitting the frame in a race like this if on a going day.
CAPTAIN CORELLI arrives in excellent heart and is fancied to complete the hat-trick. Copper And Five wasn't knocked about when finishing behind the selection last time and is feared most ahead of Jumeira Vision.
There isn't much between CAPTAIN CORELLI and Copper And Five on a recent Thirsk run and they could dominate this finish.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

40/1(-150%) | (9) New Wave 40/1, Once-raced filly. Tongue strap on, seventh of 10 in minor event (66/1) at the Curragh (7f, good to firm) on debut 38 days ago. Needs to build on it. Promise on debut behind Joyful Princess, should improve for the run, each way claims. |

80/1(-700%) | (12) School Of Athens 80/1, Once-raced filly. Sixth of 13 in maiden (28/1) at Tipperary (7.5f, good) on debut 16 days ago. Can build on it so she's one to consider. Promise in a barrier trial and when keen on her racecourse debut; place chance if settles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

150/1(+0%) | (6) Kilgharrahs Love 150/1, Once-raced filly. Eighth of 16 in maiden (125/1) at Gowran (7f, good) on debut 34 days ago. Not a bad effort on debut at 125-1, needs more to trouble the judge in this company. |

250/1(-150%) | (11) Princess Peggy 250/1, Twice-raced filly. Thirteenth of 14 in maiden (150/1) at Gowran (7f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Triple figure odds and well-beaten on both starts to date; others preferred. |

125/1(-400%) | (13) Sweet Zaroline 125/1, Once-raced filly. Tongue strap on, tenth of 14 in maiden (12/1) at Gowran (7f, good to soft) on debut 14 days ago, slowly away. Yard in good form. Likely to improve. Well beaten by Mint Candy and Amangani on debut at Gowran; needs to improve. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
JOYFUL PRINCESS was well enough held on debut at the Curragh but that form is working out well and she should improve from the experience. Out of a Coolmore-bred unplaced dam, whose sister won at Listed level, she missed the break and raced keenly in the early stages. While beaten eight lengths into fifth, the daughter of Starspangledbanner finished reasonably well with the runner-up, the fourth and eighth-placed finishers each winning subsequently. Mint Candy finished a length-and-three-parts ahead of Amangani on their Gowran meeting a fortnight ago and the pair are likely to be closely matched, as the latter was a little short of room on the inner for some of the home straight.
A fair bit of potential on show here, not least Aidan O'Brien's impeccably-bred colt MINT CANDY who is taken to build on his promising Gowran second and get off the mark. Amangani could emerge as the chief threat on the back of her debut Gowran second, although Joyful Princess, It's All Peachy and School of Athens need factoring in too.
Preference is for JOYFUL PRINCESS. The form of her Curragh maiden fifth is strong and she looks open to plenty of improvement.

5/2(+50%) | (2) Lord Roxby 5/2, Much improved from debut when winning 11-runner maiden (4/1) at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 34 days ago. Open to further progress. Tougher task under a penalty for Beverley win but is open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (11/1 -214%) Rift Valley |
11/1(-214%) | (8) Rift Valley 11/1, Left debut form well behind when third of 9 in a 6f novice at Chelmsford City 17 days ago. May do better still. Close third on AW last time; sole runner on the card for her in-form yard; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/4 +29%) Do It Now |
5/4(+29%) | (1) Do It Now 5/4, Showed improved form to get off the mark at Ripon in May before an excellent fifth in the Super Sprint at Newbury. Well held on nursery debut at Goodwood but shaped as if back in form until the company found him out in York listed event last time. Obvious player back in calmer waters. Leading player on best form, namely Ripon win and good fifth in the Super Sprint. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (18/1 -13%) Coul Harswell |
18/1(-13%) | (9) Coul Harswell 18/1, Shaped as if in need of the experience when fifth of 9 in maiden at Catterick (5f, good, 33/1) on debut 20 days ago, nearest finish. Open to improvement. Form of Catterick effort gives her a lot to find in this competitive race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (150/1 -50%) Cuban Lynx |
150/1(-50%) | (6) Cuban Lynx 150/1, Well held in novice event/maiden. Always behind in both outings; has the worst chance on form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This looks a good opportunity for the class-dropping DO IT NOW to regain the winning thread. The son of Bungle Inthejungle has been highly tried since finishing fifth in the Super Sprint over 5f at Newbury in July and, after showing up well for a long way before being outpointed in the closing stages in a Listed race at York, he looks the one to side with at this level. This step down to 5f promises to suit Rift Valley and she must enter calculations, while Aubergine is an interesting newcomer.
DO IT NOW drops markedly in class and makes plenty of appeal in what has become a pretty thin novice. Lord Roxby is the obvious danger on the back of his Beverley success.
It may pay to concentrate on RIFT VALLEY who looks interesting dropped to 5f, ahead of Do It Now.

33/1(-136%) | (4) Marching Mac 33/1, 40/1 and hooded first time, tenth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (6f) 22 days ago. Respectable third on his previous visit here. Started off for new stable with two disappointing AW runs last month; revival needed. |

2nd (5) (7/1 +30%) Thunderous Love |
7/1(+30%) | (5) Thunderous Love 7/1, Winner at Salisbury in May. Creditable fifth of 11 in handicap at Salisbury (6f, good to soft) on Friday. Cheekpieces on first time. Denied clear run when fifth at Salisbury on Friday; cheekpieces added today. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/1 -122%) Lochaber |
10/1(-122%) | (1) Lochaber 10/1, Winner at Beverley (5f) in May. Second at Chepstow for new yard in August but below par at Southwell since. Not one to rely upon but has good claims if judged on last month's Chepstow second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (5/1 +23%) You Are Everything |
5/1(+23%) | (6) You Are Everything 5/1, Modest maiden who failed to come on for his reappearance when fifth of 6 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 13 days ago. Ran okay last month, after a layoff, but safely held since; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (5/4 +55%) Realised |
5/4(+55%) | (2) Realised 5/4, Modest maiden who was a creditable third over 7f/1m at Yarmouth in blinkers at the start of the summer. Should be thereabouts if returning from a break in similar form. Aided by blinkers when third on last two outings (1m/7f); first run in a sprint today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (40/1 -21%) Miss Rainstorm |
40/1(-21%) | (8) Miss Rainstorm 40/1, 66/1, tenth of 13 in handicap at Pontefract (1m, good) 78 days ago. Down in trip. First run for yard after leaving Tracy Waggott. Something to find on form. Signed off for Tracy Waggott with heavy defeat in July; has lots to prove on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (50/1 -52%) Another Jack |
50/1(-52%) | (9) Another Jack 50/1, Poor maiden. 28/1, fifth of 6 in handicap at this course (5.3f, good) 16 days ago. 13-race maiden who needs to find some improvement from somewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (8/1 -220%) Bear To Dream |
8/1(-220%) | (3) Bear To Dream 8/1, C&D winner in August. Not in the same form when fourth of 5 back here since but he's still fairly handicapped if bouncing back to the winning form. C&D winner last month, after a break; held since but remains on a workable mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Realised has made the frame on each of her last two starts in this grade and she should remain competitive off an unchanged rating. However, the vote goes to LOCHABER, who flopped when finishing ninth at Southwell on his latest outing, but he filled the runner-up spot at Chepstow prior to that effort. Scott Dixon's three-year-old returns to turf and could go close off a 1lb lower rating. Of the remainder, Bear To Dream makes the most appeal.
BEAR TO DREAM could be the way to go if she can bounce back to anything like the form of last month's C&D win. Realised could pose a threat if fully primed after a break, while Muy Muy Guapo is also handicapped to get involved.
Unlucky not to finish a bit closer to the target at Salisbury on Friday, THUNDEROUS LOVE might win this in first-time cheekpieces.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
STORM PIECE has an excellent pedigree and showed good ability on debut. By the sire of Economics and out of a blue-blooded Group 1-winning dam, he contested a newcomers' maiden at the Curragh and while the form is largely unproven, the Ballydoyle-trained winner was well-touted while the eighth-horse subsequently finished runner-up. The selection looks smart and has a notable Beresford Stakes entry. Genealogy himself showed promise on Curragh debut 17 days ago and is entitled to improve plenty from that display, while his stablemate Lord Byron is from a fine Aga Khan family and is a half-brother to a multiple Group 3 winner.
Aidan O'Brien's GENEALOGY shaped well on his debut when a running-on second at the Curragh and with a fair bit of progress on the cards he makes most appeal. Ger Lyons' Storm Piece also has better days ahead of him and is next best, although well-bred Camelot newcomer Lord Byron and Galway second Starry Desert can't be discounted either in this intriguing maiden.
Runner-up to a better-fancied stablemate on debut over this trip at the Curragh, GENEALOGY(nap) can go one better today.

8/1(+20%) | (6) Dapper Guest 8/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, fourth of 10 in novice at Newmarket (6f, good) 46 days ago. Makes handicap debut down in class and he could do better. Some promise in three 6f runs at big prices; trainer 0-57 with 2yos in recent times though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (14/1 -300%) Liberty Bird |
14/1(-300%) | (5) Liberty Bird 14/1, Well-backed 5/1, career best when winning 9-runner nursery at Southwell (7.1f) 13 days ago, making all under this rider. Up 6 lb but good chance again if allowed to dominate. Broke the 2yo course record when making all at Southwell latest; 6lb rise demands more. |

8th (11) (14/1 -17%) Ghostman |
14/1(-17%) | (11) Ghostman 14/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 33/1, twelfth of 14 in sales race at Newmarket (6f, soft) 24 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Makes handicap debut with improvement needed. Best effort over C&D; first-time blinkers will need to bring out a deal of improvement. |

9th (10) (66/1 -100%) Inconspicuous |
66/1(-100%) | (10) Inconspicuous 66/1, Winner at York in June. 16/1, seventh of 9 in nursery at Lingfield (8f, AW) 6 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Has struggled in three runs since taking a York seller for Ollie Pears in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (3/1 +0%) Brastias |
3/1(+0%) | (4) Brastias 3/1, Built on debut promise at the second attempt when winning 11-runner maiden at Redcar in July. Very good fourth of 9 in nursery at Haydock (7f, good, 16/1) 12 days ago, looking unlucky not to finish closer after slow start/not clear run. Big shout off the same mark under Murphy. Met traffic and was unlucky not to go closer on his nursery debut; goes on the shortlist. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TIETE had to be switched for a clear run when second at Newbury on her nursery debut. Harry Charlton's filly looks one to keep on the right side of and is just preferred to Brastias. The latter also ran into plenty of trouble on his handicap bow when fourth at Haydock and will likely be thereabouts at the finish, while Lingfield maiden winner Creative Lady is another to note.
BRASTIAS looked unlucky not to finish closer on his nursery debut at Haydock a fortnight ago, coming home well having not got a clear run, and he could be set to strike under Oisin Murphy. Liberty Bird and Creative Lady, both successful last time out, and Tiete are other leading players.
Unlucky not to give the favourite a tougher time on her nursery debut, TIETE looks the way to go. Brastias rates the main danger.

30/100(+44%) | (1) American Bay 30/100, Fairly useful maiden who looked unlucky not to finish closer when fourth of 16 in handicap at Newbury (7f, good to firm) 19 days ago, conceding first run. Sets the bar pretty high back in a novice. Now 0-8 but holds leading form claims in this weaker scenario than previously. |

AMERICAN BAY has posted some useful efforts this season but this step back down to 6f can see this habitual keen-racer get his head in front. Harry Charlton's gelding would have finished a lot closer to the eventual winner had he been granted a clear run when finishing a never-nearer fourth over 7f in a Newbury handicap and looks the one to be with. Saint Matthew is surely better than he showed when finishing down the field over 5f at Ripon and he is respected having been gelded since that run, while Arabic Song completes the shortlist visored for the first time.
AMERICAN BAY was unlucky not to make more of a race of it with the 3 that finished ahead of him in a fairly useful handicap run a good time at Newbury 19 days ago, having conceded first run, and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to get off the mark. Arabic Song took a step forward when runner-up at Wolverhampton in July and seems likely to pose the main threat.
Arabic Song has clear possibilities if backing up her latest effort. Otherwise, this looks a good opportunity for AMERICAN BAY.

1/6(-17%) | (2) Usuario Amigo 1/6, Fairly useful maiden. Visored for first time, below form tenth of 16 in handicap (16/1) at York (1m, good to firm) 25 days ago. Cheekpieces replace the visor. Hard to beat if anywhere near his best. Went close in Class 3 Newmarket handicap last month and has excellent chance here. |

2nd (5) (11/2 +0%) Rating |
11/2(+0%) | (5) Rating 11/2, Ran up to best when narrowly denied in 7f Newbury handicap in June (final start for Brian Meehan) but made an inauspicious start for this yard when down the field back at Newbury 19 days ago. The first-time cheekpieces worn then are quickly discarded. The main danger to Usuario Amigo on best form. Placed five times for Brian Meehan but ran poorly on recent stable debut. |

3rd (4) (12/1 -20%) Borealis Thunder |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Borealis Thunder 12/1, Twice-raced filly. Showed a bit when 8 lengths third on 7f Redcar debut (good to firm) and possibly unsuited by heavy ground when well beaten at Ffos Las since. Made fairly encouraging debut and subsequent lesser effort on heavy ground is excusable. |

This may turn into a procession for USUARIO AMIGO, who sets a lofty standard in this contest with a rating of 86. The son of Oasis Dream hit the crossbar in a handicap at Newmarket two starts ago and provided he can put his latest underwhelming display at York behind him, James Owen's gelding looks difficult to oppose. Rating sported first-time cheekpieces when failing to land a blow at Newbury last time, but he could get closer stepping back into maiden company. Borealis Thunder can pick up any pieces.
It isn't too hard to forgive USUARIO AMIGO his run in a strong York Ebor handicap last month and this essentially looks a gilt-edged opportunity for him to get off the mark. Rating will give him most to do if anywhere near her best.
This ought to be straightforward for USUARIO AMIGO, who ran to a useful level when going close in a Newmarket handicap last month.

9th (9) (15/2 -50%) Gandolfo |
15/2(-50%) | (9) Gandolfo 15/2, Not the most reliable but posted season's best when close second of 15 in handicap (14/1) at Gowran (8f, good to soft) 14 days ago and would be dangerous if in same mood here. Just denied in a Gowran handicap over this trip last time; up 3lb but still be a player. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TRETHORN has been beaten long distances in three maiden runs but has a fine pedigree and showed some promise on his latest run. By Dubawi and out of a well-related Listed-winning dam, the selection finished behind subsequent St Leger winner Jan Brueghel on debut and all of 17 lengths behind last weekend's impressive Petingo Handicap winner Fighter and might improve in first-time cheekpieces from a manageable initial rating. Mooretown Lady has been running consistently well in useful handicaps and is dependable, while Gandolfo has been frustrating to follow but nonetheless was beaten just a short-head over this distance at Gowran a fortnight ago.
PURPLE SKY still has few miles on the clock and wasn't seen to best effect at Galway last week. She makes fair appeal. Avatar Jet and Gandolfo head the list of dangers.
The Denis Hogan yard is in decent form and SPORTINGSILVERMINE is worth a chance to break his duck down in trip.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A half-brother to the high-class sprinter Battaash, AL MISBAR will appreciate the return to this trip having found one too good over 7f at Newmarket and Charlie Appleby's inmate gets another chance. He sports Godolphin's first colours ahead of the penalised novice winner Midnight Thunder, while West Acre also carries a penalty having made a winning debut over the minimum trip at Newcastle.
MIDNIGHT THUNDER has made a very bright start, scoring impressively at Windsor, and can defy a penalty here. West Acre was a ready winner himself first time up at Newcastle and has more to offer. Battaash's half-brother Al Misbar, and Winnebago, who shaped well at Newmarket, complete the shortlist.
Sprinting looks the way forward for AL MISBAR after he didn't quite see out the 7f at Newmarket last time.

18/1(-50%) | (10) Dandy Dinmont 18/1, Course winner. Latest win at Doncaster in July. Below form sixth of 16 in handicap (16/1) at Beverley (5f, good) 23 days ago. Remains fairly treated. Campaigned mostly over 5f in the last two years; pulled hard in last 6f run. |

9th (11) (33/1 +18%) Hail Sezer |
33/1(+18%) | (11) Hail Sezer 33/1, C&D winner. 1 win from 3 runs this year. Below form eighth of 14 in handicap (33/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 24 days ago, slowly away. Needs a couple of these to falter. Unlikely to rebound in this grade, having raced mainly at a lower level. |

10th (13) (3/1 +40%) Novello Lad |
3/1(+40%) | (13) Novello Lad 3/1, Off the mark at Doncaster (6f) in June and arrives on back of creditable second of 14 in handicap over C&D (good to firm) 24 days ago. Must enter calculations. Consistent 3yo who ran creditably over C&D most recently; solid chance off bottom weight. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BRIGHT has found an extra gear of late and on the back of wins at Doncaster and Newcastle, the versatile four-year-old can extend the winning run with another 3lb rise in the handicap unlikely to stop him. The veteran Muscika is showing no signs of his enthusiasm waning and also looks a serious contender in this company, while previous C&D winner Hail Sezer lurks on a competitive mark and offers some each-way value back on this happy hunting ground.
BRIGHT arrives at the top of his game and remains on a handy mark. He can complete the hat-trick. Novello Lad and Muscika head the list of dangers.
With the form of his July/August wins stacking up nicely, BRIGHT (nap) can complete the hat-trick. Novello Lad is feared most.

2/1(+43%) | (5) Fighting Poet 2/1, Course winner over 1½m in August. Creditable third of 10 back here (1½m again) last week. Has to enter calculations. In good form over 1m4f lately and benefits from Sean D Bowen's useful 3lb claim today. |

2nd (7) (5/1 +23%) Clear Justice |
5/1(+23%) | (7) Clear Justice 5/1, Two course wins under Hollie Doyle this summer, including this trip. Has failed to beat a rival under different riders in 2 outings here since but Doyle is back in the saddle this time. Dual course winner this summer but last of six here on last two outings; hard to predict. |

4th (1) (11/2 -57%) Gallimimus |
11/2(-57%) | (1) Gallimimus 11/2, Won 5-runner C&D handicap (good to soft, 11/4) 15 days ago by neck from Long Call. Shouldn't be much between that pair again. Not very consistent but held on gamely to win from the front over C&D a fortnight ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (40/1 -515%) Agapanther |
40/1(-515%) | (6) Agapanther 40/1, Campaigned on Jersey Celine De La Haye lately, winning over 1¼m (good to soft) 9 days ago. Carries 5 lb penalty for that back in Britain for new trainer Barry Brennan. Back on the mainland after easy win in Jersey last week; interesting. |

6th (2) (11/2 +39%) Villalobos |
11/2(+39%) | (2) Villalobos 11/2, Two wins from 6 runs this year, the latest at Salisbury in August. Creditable sixth of 11 in handicap (9/1) at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Dual 1m2f winner this summer; still in good form but on fairly tough mark now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (9/1 -100%) Long Call |
9/1(-100%) | (8) Long Call 9/1, C&D winner. Good neck second of 5 to Gallimimus over C&D (good to soft, 12/1) 15 days ago. Has to be taken seriously under Jack Doughty. Long in the tooth now but went close over C&D a fortnight ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (9/1 +18%) First Encounter |
9/1(+18%) | (11) First Encounter 9/1, Winner at Leicester (1m) in July. Second over this trip there next time but his run of good form came to a halt when a remote fifth at Chepstow last time. Needs to bounce back from a duff effort but earlier form makes him a contender. |

9th (4) (12/1 +0%) Letter Of The Law |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Letter Of The Law 12/1, C&D classified event winner in August. Can have latest Chepstow run ignored after doing a solo up the middle of the track. Made all in C&D classified last month but others in this line-up appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (50/1 -100%) Beautiful Surprise |
50/1(-100%) | (9) Beautiful Surprise 50/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2021. Blinkered first time, third of 7 in handicap (80/1) at this course (1m, good to soft) 15 days ago. Up in trip. Respectable third over 1m here two weeks ago but remains winless since 2yo debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (25/1 -56%) Micks Dream |
25/1(-56%) | (3) Micks Dream 25/1, 40/1 and tongue tied first time, fifth of 7 in handicap at Chepstow (1m, good to firm) 15 days ago. No real sign that he's in good enough form to take advantage of his falling mark. Yet to strike form after five runs this season and not yet proven over today's trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Gallimimus beat Long Call is a gutsy display over track and trip earlier in the month and it would be no surprise to see him confirm that form in order to have a say. However, it may pay to side with BEAUTIFUL SURPRISE, who showed improved form in first-time blinkers over a mile here last time and she goes off an unchanged mark. If she can settle better and see out this longer trip, she could be the one to beat. Fighting Poet is another to consider.
The veteran LONG CALL is taken to turn around recent C&D placings with Gallimimus and land a second C&D success 5 years after the first. John Gallagher's charge can give him most to do ahead of Fighting Poet, who has been in good form over 1½m here lately.
In good form over 1m4f here recently, FIGHTING POET benefits from Sean D Bowen's very useful 3lb claim today and gets the nod.

25/1(-108%) | (5) Our Town 25/1, Fairly useful filly. Last of 7 in handicap at Hamilton (9.2f, good to firm, 50/1). Off 107 days. First run for yard after leaving John & Sean Quinn with more needed. French winner was well beaten in two starts in UK and best watched on Irish debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
STAR HARBOUR might ideally prefer a slightly longer distance but won over today's trip at Tipperary in August and arrives following a career-best effort when second from a rating of 105 at Dundalk. Akecheta's dam is closely related to 2000 Guineas winner Mark Of Esteem and while lightly raced, she has shown useful form. She ran well at Roscommon last time and now has a first-time tongue-tie. Gesture has been gelded since his last run and his best form to date has been achieved on the all-weather.
STAR HARBOUR holds the clear edge on form so rates a confident choice to go one better than his recen excellent Dundalk second. Roscommon runner-up Akecheta appeals as the one to chase home the selection ahead of Acotango.
It is difficult to oppose STAR HARBOUR. Though he stays 1m4f, he did win over this trip this two starts ago.

1st (5) (4/9 +17%) Green Storm |
4/9(+17%) | (5) Green Storm 4/9, Thrice-raced colt. Off 3 months, 2/1, second of 13 in novice at Kempton (8f) 11 days ago, just a shade too exuberant to last home after going off hard (Must Believe third). Plenty of scope and good chance if settling better over this longer trip (out of a smart Ribblesdale winner). His form stacks up well and he sets the standard in this company; hung left last time. |

2nd (2) (9/1 -64%) Flying Fortress |
9/1(-64%) | (2) Flying Fortress 9/1, Thrice-raced colt. Fifth of 13 in novice (12/1) at Kempton (8f) 11 days ago. Upped further in trip and he should be winning races. Behind Green Storm and Must Believe at Kempton; has work to do. |

3rd (7) (25/1 -25%) Romantic Spirit |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Romantic Spirit 25/1, Twice-raced filly. Fifth of 13 in maiden at Kempton (8f, 50/1) 28 days ago. One for handicaps. Hasn't shown enough to believe she'll be winning before tackling handicaps. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/1 -40%) Must Believe |
7/1(-40%) | (4) Must Believe 7/1, Thrice-raced colt. Third of 13 in novice (9/2) at Kempton (8f) 11 days ago, staying on well (Green Storm second). Winner there looks promising and he can do better upped further still in trip now. Placed the last twice but has nearly 5l to find with Green Storm on their recent encounter. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GREEN STORM forged clear in the home straight at Kempton last time, but that effort took it's toll as he was headed when hanging left in the closing stages. The son of Circus Maximus will benefit from a more restrained ride and is taken to go one better. Must Believe has plenty to find with the selection on Kempton running, though can still have a say in proceedings, while Phoebus looks a likely improver.
GREEN STORM holds Must Believe on Kempton form and the promising pair can come to the fore upped in trip, with Charlie Johnston's charge taken to come out on top. Flying Fortress should be winning races also.
Some late hanging at Kempton casts a bit of a cloud over GREEN STORM but he comfortably sets the standard and he should stay 1m1f.

8th (1) (18/1 -500%) Newyorkstateofmind |
18/1(-500%) | (1) Newyorkstateofmind 18/1, Returned to form when taking 14-runner handicap (9/1) at Newcastle (5f) 14 days ago. 4 lb rise fair and should go well again. Inconsistent sort who is no certainty to follow up his Wolverhampton win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (28/1 -180%) Street Life |
28/1(-180%) | (10) Street Life 28/1, Dual winner earlier this year who arrives on back of creditable third of 11 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 14 days ago. Should give another good account. In form but now returns to a better race; most wins on AW. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The top-weighted Newyorkstateofmind is an obvious contender after his return to form at Newcastle a fortnight ago and a bold showing can be expected, despite a 4lb higher mark. From the other end of the weights, Street Life also commands respect from a workable rating based on past exploits. However, from 19lb lower than his last winning mark, previous course winner GHATHANFAR looks the pick of the bunch on these terms and shades preference as a solid value option.
Preference is for NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND, who bagged his third win of the year at Newcastle a fortnight ago and remains on a workable mark. Street Life and Zuffolo can also make their presence felt.
A chance is taken on HIGH VELOCITY, who looks tempting off his current mark. Second choice is Zuffolo.

2/5(+20%) | (1) Saint Riquier 2/5, Has made a positive return from a long absence, winning over this trip on AW at Lingfield before routing his field in a 1¼m Leicester apprentice race last Tuesday. Escapes a penalty for that and will be very hard to beat if in the same form. Returned from absence in terrific form on Flat and unpenalised for last week's win. |

8th (5) (22/1 -10%) Corporate Raider |
22/1(-10%) | (5) Corporate Raider 22/1, C&D winner in June. Went close over 1¼m here next time but well held at Epsom and Windsor since. Needs a return to Brighton to spark him back to life. Good run of form here earlier in the year, including a C&D win; more on plate today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Hat-trick seeker SAINT RIQUIER is difficult to oppose on the back of a near 10-length success in an apprentice contest at Leicester last week and, from the same mark, is a strong fancy to extend the winning run. Laser Focus is a threat to the selection with the handicapper giving him a chance after his fourth at Leicester, although Torbellino went down fighting over C&D on her most recent start and commands respect on the face value of that latest effort.
A race which to a large degree revolves around SAINT RIQUIER, who will surely complete a hat-trick if in anything the same form as when bolting up off the same mark at Leicester last week. Torbellino and Laser Focus can fight it out for minor honours.
Falsetto is interesting on her handicap debut but it's hard to make a case against the unpenalised SAINT RIQUIER.

4/1(+0%) | (7) Vadali 4/1, Lightly-raced colt. Hooded for 1st time, good second of 16 in maiden (11/2) at Galway (8.3f, soft) 45 days ago, closing all way to line. Major player. Rated 78, runner up the last twice, shaped like this trip would suit on latest, chance. |

13th (3) (50/1 -100%) Lost Soul |
50/1(-100%) | (3) Lost Soul 50/1, Awtaad gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including useful 6f-8.6f winner Cristal Breeze and 2-y-o 5f winner My Sapphire. Dam 1m winner who stayed 10.7f. Watch the betting for clues. Awtaad gelding related to winners, probably best watched but worth a market check. |

28/1(-133%) | (10) Blathnaid 28/1, €8,500 foal, Belardo filly. Half-sister to several winners, including useful 6f winner Rasheeq and 1¼m winner Smiling Jayne. Belardo filly was bought for 8,500 euros as a foal, debutante probably best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ARD NA MARA was no match for Fighter when second in a Curragh maiden, but had 20 horses behind her and the form got a massive boost on Saturday when the winner followed up at Leopardstown. Vadali has been placed on his last three outings and got closer to the winner with each run. He is one to note up in trip. Conversely, the 82-rated Strolling drops back in trip after being beaten a neck into second at Tramore.
POWERFUL HOOK HEAD made an encouraging start to his career at Gowran and, likely to be more street-wise this time, he is taken to come out on top. Vadali has found just one too good in maidens at Limerick and Galway the last twice and should be in the thick of things once more, while Strolling is also of strong interest on the back of her near miss at Tramore. Ard Na Mara makes each-way appeal, along with Coul Dreamer.
Preference is for Jim Bolger's filly ARD NA MARA after the form of her fine effort at the Curragh was boosted at Leopardstown.

1st (2) (4/1 0%) Sniper's Eye |
4/1(0%) | (2) Sniper's Eye 4/1, Opened account when landing the odds in minor event at Southwell on final outing in 2023. Not seen to best effect in handicaps this season, third of 6 at Chester (10.3f, good) 52 days ago, left with too much to do. One to consider. Found three races not run to suit his hold-up style in the summer; interesting. |

2nd (5) (9/1 +25%) Roxanne |
9/1(+25%) | (5) Roxanne 9/1, Three from 3 in Germany in 2023. Hooded for 1st time, seventh of 8 in handicap (22/1) at Chelmsford City (10f) 89 days ago, again taking strong hold and left poorly placed. Needs to settle down but drops in grade returning from a break here. Could figure. Wheels have rather come off and she has it to prove returning from a break. |

3rd (8) (11/2 +21%) Afloat |
11/2(+21%) | (8) Afloat 11/2, Dual C&D winner in class 6 events in 2023. Good second of 8 in handicap at Brighton (9.9f, soft, 15/2) 8 days ago, no match for improving 3-y-o. This is competitive again. Dual C&D winner last August; better without the usual hood at Brighton last Monday; player. |

4th (4) (13/2 -86%) Silver Gunn |
13/2(-86%) | (4) Silver Gunn 13/2, Course winner. Didn't need to improve to win 6-runner handicap (10/3) at Newmarket (10f, good) 32 days ago. Only back up 2 lb but probably vulnerable in this deeper contest. Tends to pull hard but has won plenty; everything looks in place for another bold showing. |

5th (9) (14/1 -56%) Arazzo |
14/1(-56%) | (9) Arazzo 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in handicap (20/1) at Newbury (10f, good to firm) 19 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Remains capable of better. Well bred and it's too soon to write him off but others have more pressing claims. |

6th (3) (10/1 -150%) Woodstock City |
10/1(-150%) | (3) Woodstock City 10/1, 18/1, didn't need to improve to win 8-runner handicap at Ripon (9.8f, good to firm) 21 days ago, the switch to front-running paying off. Player if similar tactics work again around here. Took advantage of a sliding mark when making all round Ripon latest; needs to back that up. |

7th (1) (11/1 +31%) Winter Reprise |
11/1(+31%) | (1) Winter Reprise 11/1, Has just a maiden win in 2020 to his name despite useful level of ability. Eighth of 10 in handicap at Ascot (10f, good, 28/1) 67 days ago. Rejoined yard after leaving Alan King and needs a revival having tumbled in the weights. Perhaps the return to his old yard will do the trick and holds claims on his Newbury third. |

8th (7) (9/2 +10%) Warrior's Dance |
9/2(+10%) | (7) Warrior's Dance 9/2, Thrice-raced maiden from the family of Enable. 10/1, fifth of 9 in novice at Thirsk (7f, good) 62 days ago, not knocked about. Tongue strap on 1st time/cheekpieces on 1st time. Has some decent novice form that makes him of interest now handicapping upped in trip. Bold bid could be forthcoming. Has a stiffer test in first-time headgear/tongue-tie on handicap debut; watch the market. |

9th (6) (22/1 -83%) Alrazeen |
22/1(-83%) | (6) Alrazeen 22/1, Won twice on AW last winter. 14/1, fifth of 6 in handicap at Newmarket (10f, good to firm) 88 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Gelded since. Gelded since a couple of below-par runs in early summer; will need a career-best effort. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
WARRIOR'S DANCE comes into this with an interesting profile having been far from disgraced in three qualifying runs over 7f and 1m. Now stepping up in trip sporting cheekpieces for the first time, the son of Lope De Vega gets the vote to gain a breakthrough victory. Silver Gunn did it well when scoring over 1m2f at Newmarket last month and he must enter calculations nudged up 2lb, while fellow last-time-out winner Woodstock City commands respect.
WARRIOR'S DANCE looks capable of much better now handicapping up in trip with headgear fitted and gets the vote. Arazzo remains capable of better, while Roxanne is potentially interesting down in grade if settling better.
Unlucky with the way races unfolded in three handicaps in the summer, SNIPER'S EYE is preferred to dual C&D winner Afloat.

10/3(+52%) | (2) Majeski Man 10/3, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 22/1, fifteenth of 16 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good) 23 days ago. Has good chance on pick of form. Hindered by poor draw last time; interesting in this grade off 8lb below last winning mark. |

4th (7) (4/1 +11%) Secret Command |
4/1(+11%) | (7) Secret Command 4/1, Catterick winner in June who bounced back to form when third of 9 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good to firm) 34 days ago. Respected. Back on last winning mark and Mia Nicholls takes off a bonus 5lb; one to consider. |

Since joined new yard and must enter calculations. Record of 213 since wearing tongue-tie; left Jack Channon since last run. |

10th (3) (33/1 -65%) Baileys Polka Dot |
33/1(-65%) | (3) Baileys Polka Dot 33/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 14/1, last of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 17 days ago. Makes limited appeal. Big question mark over current form; drop in class needs to help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BETWEENTHESTICKS is an interesting recruit for the Ruth Carr stable and, having won off just a 2lb lower mark for his former trainer on his penultimate start, this could be a good time to catch the son of Captain Gerrard. The class-dropping Secret Command looks a serious contender at this level, while Ifonlytheycudtalk is also noteworthy back in a low-grade handicap after being well backed for a near miss in a classified event at Thirsk last month.
MARIS ANGEL improved significantly when scoring over this trip at Wolverhampton last week and remains low mileage. She is fancied to follow up. Betweenthesticks and Secret Command are feared most.
Dropped in class off a reduced mark, MAJESKI MAN may be the answer. Secret Command is second choice.

1st (1) (5/4 +0%) Waleyfa |
5/4(+0%) | (1) Waleyfa 5/4, C&D winner in August. Just touched off at Southwell (1m) since. Another bold show likely. Clear C&D winner on last month's stable debut and has gone close on AW since; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 -64%) Romanovich |
9/2(-64%) | (2) Romanovich 9/2, C&D winner last month and went in again in 14-runner handicap at Chepstow (7f, good, 13/2) 22 days ago, always holding on. A 3 lb nudge shouldn't prevent another prominent showing. Won over C&D and at Chepstow (7f) last month; in career-best form and must be considered. |

4/1(+33%) | (3) Interestnpenalties 4/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in April. Runner-up on his last 3 outings, including over C&D. Runner-up in small-field handicaps on last two outings; ought to give another good account. |

5th (5) (10/1 -11%) Heer's Sadie |
10/1(-11%) | (5) Heer's Sadie 10/1, Course winner. Creditable third of 6 in handicap at this course (7f, good) 16 days ago, nearest finish. Ran fairly well over 7f here at start of this month but today's extra furlong is not ideal. |

6th (4) (17/2 -42%) Sorontar |
17/2(-42%) | (4) Sorontar 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Very good third of 8 in handicap at Windsor (1m, good to firm, 6/1) 15 days ago. Much the least exposed in the line-up. Travelled well for long way when third on recent turf debut; still lightly raced. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (40/1 -60%) Rivas Rob Roy |
40/1(-60%) | (6) Rivas Rob Roy 40/1, Four-time C&D winner, the latest in May. His recent efforts have been disappointing, though. Six-time course winner; on good mark but has been out of form in recent months. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A C&D winner on his penultimate start, WALEYFA seems to have been revitalised by a a recent switch in stables and, after a near miss on Southwell last month, the Kublers' mare is an attractive proposition back at this venue from a still workable mark. In-form pair Interestnpenalties and Romanovich can make sure this isn't a cakewalk for the selection, with the former suggested as the chief threat based on his potential to improve over this trip.
The thriving WALEYFA is narrowly preferred to fellow C&D scorer Romanovich, who arrives on the back of a win in a big field at Chepstow 3 weeks ago. Low-mileage 3-y-o Sorontar is another who could go well.
In a competitive race for the grade the suggestion is WALEYFA (nap), who was an emphatic C&D winner on last month's stable debut.

Needs to step forward on his handicap debut. Has shown nothing in two bumpers nor four starts on Tapeta; hard to recommend. |

7th (7) (15/2 -25%) National Question |
15/2(-25%) | (7) National Question 15/2, Winner at Musselburgh in July. Creditable fifth of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (11.2f, good to soft, 11/2) 27 days ago. Can make his presence felt. Not beaten far at Carlisle last time but well beaten in his only AW start here in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (16/1 -60%) Lord Warburton |
16/1(-60%) | (5) Lord Warburton 16/1, Latest win at Pontefract in June. 50/1, creditable fifth of 14 in handicap at Catterick (13.9f, good) 20 days ago. Can give a good account. Not beaten far when fifth at Catterick last time, but others look more solid. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MON ETOILE improved for the step up to this trip at Musselburgh on Saturday. Beaten only a neck on that occasion, the three-year-old can finally open her account with more to come over the distance. Sycamore Gap is another looking for a first win, but that won't be long in coming judged on recent placed efforts, while Bond Spirit showed a bit more at Bath recently and has winning form on the Tapeta.
A very open handicap but MON ETOILE is able to race off the same mark as when a very good recent Musselburgh second so gets the vote. In-form duo Sycamore Gap and Bond Spirit appeal as the main dangers to Charlie Johnston's filly and can chase her home in that order.
The vote goes to BOND SPIRIT whose three career wins include two on the Southwell Tapeta.

This is tougher but she can't be discounted. Both wins at Gowran over 1m, incl' a claimer last time; blinkers worn then retained. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There should be upside in SHAVASI's mark of 76. She was last seen finishing third in a higher grade at Sligo. Prior to that, she shed her maiden tag at Killarney. Counterculture hacked up in a maiden at Roscommon and is one to keep on the right side of. The experienced Sli Na Ghealai is more than capable of landing a blow, while Presence goes to work at the bottom end of the handicap and shouldn't be underestimated.
This can go to PRESENCE, who ran a cracker back in handicap company at Galway last month and remains low mileage. Counterculture and Sli Na Ghealai rate the principal dangers.
A maiden winner over a mile at this track a year ago, PERFECT POISE has run well in defeat at times since and can score again.

Interesting if backing that up returned to turf (has looked better on AW). All four wins have come on the AW and yet to prove herself as effective on turf. |

4th (5) (15/2 +32%) Kitai |
15/2(+32%) | (5) Kitai 15/2, Gradually worked her way back to form this season, responding well to positive tactics when gaining a narrow verdict at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) in July. Best to overlook subsequent run at Ripon (lame) but one or two of these may be better treated in any case. Unsuited by the undulations of Ripon last time when only 9-1 for the Great St Wilfrid. |

14/1(-40%) | (6) Princess Shabnam 14/1, C&D winner. Eighteen runs since last win in 2022. 7/2 and visored for 1st time, respectable second of 7 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 13 days ago. Needs the headgear to work as well again. Did well to be second in the first-time visor at Kempton after racing freely. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
SUMMER OF LOVE has shown improved form since fitted with a hood (retained) the last twice, most recently running out a comfortable winner over 7f at Epsom. Provided this drop to 6f is of no hinderance to the daughter of Dark Angel, she should prove tough to stop off 3lb higher. Rosy Affair has hit the woodwork on her last two starts and, if the application of a tongue-tie can eke out some improvement, she should go well. Kitai is also of some interest.
There should be more to come from SUMMER OF LOVE and she's taken to strike again down in trip. Rosy Affair continues in top form, shaping best at Newmarket last time, and is a big player. Azure Angel caught the eye at Kempton and could be in the hunt if backing that up returned to turf.
This can go to SUMMER OF LOVE (nap) who has yet to try her luck at sprinting but she'll get a fast pace to chase and that will help.

1st (4) (6/5 +36%) See That Storm |
6/5(+36%) | (4) See That Storm 6/5, Promising individual. C&D winner. Career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Pontefract (10f, good, 7/4) 30 days ago by 1¼ lengths from Highwaygrey, bit in hand. Remains open to further improvement and big shout. Successful in 1m2f handicaps at Redcar and Pontefract since joining new yard; respected. |

2nd (7) (8/1 +20%) True Wisdom |
8/1(+20%) | (7) True Wisdom 8/1, 17/2, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Kempton (11f) 20 days ago. Continues to edge down the weights and she's likely to pop up at some point soon. Favourably handicapped on her 2yo win but has lacked consistency since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/2 -10%) Shimmering Sands |
11/2(-10%) | (5) Shimmering Sands 11/2, Hooded for 1st time, good second of 10 in handicap at Beverley (8.4f, good, 5/1) 23 days ago, suited by strong pace. This step back up in trip will be in his favour and a bold show is on the cards. Ties in with See That Storm on C&D running in July; runner-up at Beverley since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (7/1 +42%) Eeetee |
7/1(+42%) | (8) Eeetee 7/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 9/1, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Ripon (9.8f, good to firm) 21 days ago, running on. Perhaps vulnerable from a win point of view. 0-7 for current yard but ties in with two of these rivals on C&D effort in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (20/1 -100%) Highwaygrey |
20/1(-100%) | (6) Highwaygrey 20/1, Latest win at Pontefract in July. Sixteenth of 17 in handicap at York (10.2f, soft, 16/1) 9 days ago. Now tried in blinkers and while he was in good heart prior to that, some of these make greater appeal. Chance of winning partly depends on how well he responds to new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (22/1 -175%) Big Team |
22/1(-175%) | (2) Big Team 22/1, 11/4, ninth of 11 in handicap at Meydan (9.9f) when last seen in January. Has slipped to a potentially handy mark but he looks risky all the same. Market may prove best guide on return from layoff; best form on Tapeta/dirt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (10/1 -122%) Sudden Ambush |
10/1(-122%) | (3) Sudden Ambush 10/1, 15/2, creditable second of 8 in handicap at Doncaster (10.2f, good to firm) 31 days ago, no match for winner. Not without an each-way chance. Couple of encouraging efforts for new stable; unexposed at this trip; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (9/1 -50%) Great Blasket |
9/1(-50%) | (1) Great Blasket 9/1, 6/1, respectable third of 6 in handicap at Newmarket (8f, good) 32 days ago, slowly away. Back up in trip and good chance that he'll pick up some more place money at least here. Successful four times over 1m this term; may get outstayed back at 1m2f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SEE THAT STORM is unbeaten in two starts since joining the Ed Bethell yard and his cosy victory at Pontefract last time reads well in the context of this race. The son of Storm The Stars is only 5lb higher for that triumph and he might be capable of continuing his rapid upward curve to complete the hat-trick. Great Blasket finished third in a class 2 event at Newmarket last month and will find this easier, while Sudden Ambush is another to consider after his second at Doncaster.
SEE THAT STORM made it 2-2 for this yard when seeing off the re-opposing pair Highwaygrey and Shimmering Sands at Pontefract last month and, with the promise of better to come from this unexposed 3-y-o, he looks capable of defying a 5 lb rise in the weights. Shimmering Sands has since put in another good shift at Beverley and he is feared most, while Great Blasket, who has been contesting higher-grade handicaps than this in recent months, also enters calculations.
See That Storm holds obvious claims but his hat-trick bid may be thwarted by interesting alternative SUDDEN AMBUSH.

8th (1) (9/1 -125%) Otago |
9/1(-125%) | (1) Otago 9/1, Fourth C&D win of his career when shading a tight finish 8 days ago. Should be competitive under a 4 lb penalty. Just did enough to score over C&D off reduced mark last week; has 4lb penalty for that. |

11th (5) (16/1 +20%) Too Much Trevor |
16/1(+20%) | (5) Too Much Trevor 16/1, Last of 10 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good to firm, 12/1) 37 days ago. First-time visor replaces blinkers. Placed in first-time blinkers in July but well beaten twice since; now tried in a visor. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Otago showed a likeable attitude when scoring gamely over C&D last week and a 4lb penalty doesn't discount another bold bid from Jim Boyle's charge. That said, preference is for the hat-trick seeking SPLIT ELEVENS. The C&D winner impressed with how he went about his business when scoring narrowly over 7f at Lingfield recently, and he gets the vote to shoulder a 4lb rise returning to the turf. Poetic Force is also noteworthy.
The thriving SPLIT ELEVENS can make it 5 wins in his last 6 starts. Forgotten Treasure and Otago can give John Butler's charge most to think about.
Six-race maiden ASH WEDNESDAY was keeping on well at the end of 5.7f two starts ago and may have some improvement to come over 7f.

33/1(-32%) | (8) Foshan 33/1, 300/1, last of 8 in novice hurdle at Musselburgh (17.4f, heavy) 165 days ago. Cheekpieces back on but others more persuasive. 0-14 under rules; hard to recommend back from 165 days off. |

12/1(-33%) | (4) Macho Sun 12/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. 8/1, respectable sixth of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 50 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Julia Feilden. Claims. 0-16; modest of late and has plenty to find on stable debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
WHERE IS THE LOVE was having her first outing since February when just missing out at Chelmsford recently in first-time cheekpieces. The headgear remains in place and Joseph Parr's unexposed filly looks set to strike off her current mark. The Bobster also has scope for further progress having produced his best performance so far when fourth at Musselburgh latest, while Loom Large finished strongly when runner-up over a mile here a fortnight ago and is another to bear in mind.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and LOOM LARGE is fancied to end a losing run on the back of his very good course second last time out. Chelmsford runner-up Where Is The Love is next on the list, with The Bobster and Macho Sun also in the mix.
The vote goes to C&D winner LOOM LARGE (nap) who shaped as though the return to this trip would suit last time.

9/2(-50%) | (4) Jarvis Brook 9/2, Back from lengthy absence (making debut for Paul Nolan) when second of 14 in handicap at Gowran (9.4f, good) 34 days ago. 4 lb higher now but may have more to offer yet. Narrowly denied on handicap debut after long absence, chance again off 4lb higher. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There was plenty to like about JARVIS BROOK's stable debut second at Gowran Park. He had been off for more than 16 months and was just pipped on that first start for Paul Nolan. The bounce factor obviously comes into play, but he travelled well at Gowran which bodes well for this assignment. Harseva has shown improvement since entering handicaps and is on a mark she can go well off. Tartaraghan's runner-up effort at Down Royal reads well in the context of this race and she's noted too.
There should be more to come from JARVIS BROOK, who only narrowly failed to make a winning debut for his new yard at Gowran last month and is entitled to build on that. Harseva and Adhul should also go well.
Narrow preference is for HARSEVA. She has run very well in her first two handicaps and this slight drop in trip should suit.

15/2(-88%) | (9) Stone Circle 15/2, 3-time C&D winner. 10/1, second of 9 in handicap at Leicester (5f, soft) 7 days ago. Clearly on a good mark if backing that up returned to the scene of his last 2 victories. Three wins to his name in eight starts over C&D; back in form last week; leading claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Thunder Star won this corresponding race off a 1lb higher mark last year and is a notable contender. Fellow course winners Lil Guff and Stone Circle also enter calculations, but GRACE ANGEL has held her form well since returning from wind surgery and, as a likely pace angle, she could be tough to reel in if she is allowed to dictate the fractions.
STONE CIRCLE has slipped to a tempting mark and signalled a return to form when second at Leicester last week. He's a regular here with a good record and could be set to resume winning ways. Grace Angel and last year's winner Thunder Star are a couple of the other likely players.
Stone Circle is well handicapped but THUNDER STAR is fancied to follow up last year's win in this race.

11/2(-65%) | (6) Normandy Vista 11/2, Creditable third of 7 in handicap (15/8) at Catterick (12.1f, good to soft) 7 days ago. Stepping back up in trip here will be no bad thing and he should be in the mix. Running better now and went close in sole 1m6f start, at Catterick in August; good chance. |

4th (4) (11/2 -38%) Greenlightforgo |
11/2(-38%) | (4) Greenlightforgo 11/2, Sixth of 7 in handicap at Ripon (16f, good to firm, 7/2) 21 days ago and he essentially looks vulnerable. Had few chances; best form when close third over C&D in August; non-stayer at 2m since. |

5th (5) (5/2 +9%) Marmalade Lady |
5/2(+9%) | (5) Marmalade Lady 5/2, Winner at Chepstow in June. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable second of 7 in handicap at Ffos Las (12f, heavy, 15/8) 25 days ago, clear of rest. Expected to be bang there. Won first turf handicap (1m4f); AW fourth (1m5f) since has worked out well; solid chance. |

6th (1) (22/1 -57%) Cosmic Soul |
22/1(-57%) | (1) Cosmic Soul 22/1, Fourth of 7 in handicap (50/1) at Thirsk (14f, good to firm) 18 days ago, barely adequate test. Tongue strap on 1st time and would have a chance if back to something like his best. Just minor form over hurdles and on Flat for this yard; needs more weight off his back. |

7th (3) (6/1 -20%) Sonning |
6/1(-20%) | (3) Sonning 6/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2021. Sixth of 9 in handicap (11/1) at Southwell (11.1f) 13 days ago, not ideally placed. Back up in trip and merits consideration off this reduced mark. Flat winner in 2021; 3 hurdle wins since; close up at 1m4f and 1m6f in latest 2 turf runs. |

8th (8) (125/1 -150%) Crafty Dancer |
125/1(-150%) | (8) Crafty Dancer 125/1, Thrice-raced maiden on Flat. Last of 7 in maiden at Carlisle (11.2f, good, 250/1) 73 days ago. Up in trip for this handicap debut and huge step forward needed. Big prices and has not yet shown anything in two bumpers and three maidens; handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Marmalade Lady finished 12 lengths clear of the third when hitting the crossbar in heavy conditions over 1m4f at Ffos Las last month and she should go well off a 1lb lower rating. However, she could come out second best to NORMANDY VISTA, who had Sonning (third) behind when taking the silver medal home at Catterick on his penultimate start and he followed that up with a fair third over two furlongs shorter at the same venue last time. Charlie Johnston's three-year-old looks well placed to return to winning ways.
The vote goes to MARMALADE LADY, who pulled a country mile clear of the rest when chasing home the in-form Three Dons (winner again since) at Ffos Las last month. She is now 1 lb lower and makes plenty of appeal back on faster ground. Sonning has dipped to an attractive mark and may emerge as the main threat ahead of Normandy Vista and Bamboo Bay.
The return to 1m6f can suit MARMALADE LADY and her earlier turf and AW runs suggest she should still have potential off this mark.

5/1(+17%) | (3) Tilsworth Ony Ta 5/1, Latest win at Lingfield in July. Bit below form fourth of 8 in handicap at Windsor (5f, good to firm, 5/1) 15 days ago. As good as ever in recent months and ran well over C&D on only previous Brighton visit. |

5th (2) (7/1 +13%) Batchelor Boy |
7/1(+13%) | (2) Batchelor Boy 7/1, Four-time course winner. 11/2, last of 5 in handicap at this course (6f, good to soft) 15 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Runs this track very well but his recent efforts have been substandard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ALFRED COVE found only one rival too good when going down narrowly over 6f here earlier this month and, off an unchanged mark sporting cheekpieces for the first time, the son of Ardad looks the one to side with. Bluebells Boy scored with the minimum of fuss over 6f at Lingfield last week and he appears to be the main danger to the selection, despite carrying a 5lb penalty, while Tilsworth Ony Ta completes the shortlist off just 2lb higher than his last winning mark.
ALFRED COVE has Hollie Doyle doing the steering again and can prove too strong for last week's Lingfield 1-2 Bluebells Boy and Don't Fight It in this finale.
Bluebells Boy produced a good performance on Polytrack last week but the runner-up DON'T FIGHT IT might turn the tables here.

4/1(-45%) | (6) Our Noble Lord 4/1, 50/1, good third of 12 in minor event at Ayr (10f, good) 38 days ago. Needs considering. Better effort when third at Ayr last time and hasn't been with the yard for long. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (3/1 +63%) Busby |
3/1(+63%) | (3) Busby 3/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2022. Below form seventh of 12 in handicap (11/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 12 days ago. Losing run now 19, but well treated on his three placed efforts over C&D earlier in year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
OUR NOBLE LORD was having only his second start of the year when third in a classified stakes race at Ayr last month. That form looks better in hindsight given the winner has subsequently landed a hat-trick and Lucinda Russell looks to have found him a good opportunity to open his account. Wheres The Crumpet has been in decent form over a mile and returns to this longer trip with a shout, while both Pearly Star and Busby have won off a higher marks in the past.
WHERES THE CRUMPET rates just the pick of the weights and can boast a C&D victory so looks the way to go. Our Noble Lord could emerge as the main danger on the back of his good Ayr third, with Pearly Star and Violeta also in the picture.
It may be worth taking a chance with BUSBY who is well treated on his placed efforts over C&D earlier in the year.

14/1(-75%) | (11) Hale Bopp 14/1, Shaped better than bare result when sixth of 28 in handicap (25/1) at the Curragh (7f, good to firm) 31 days ago, finishing well. Step up in trip a plus and is an interesting contender. Solid effort at the Curragh last time, best recent form is on the AW but can't discount. |

50/1(+24%) | (9) Pomeriggio 50/1, 40/1, last of 28 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good to firm) 31 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes limited appeal. Won a claimer for former yard, no show in five runs for current stable, hard to fancy. |

22/1(-57%) | (6) Bride Tree 22/1, Back from 3 months off when good third of 12 in handicap at Dundalk (8f, 12/1) 33 days ago. Claims if building on that. Fine effort at Dundalk latest, lower mark here but best turf form on soft, may need rain. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Plenty in with chances in a competitive handicap. LIMESTONE RED ran well for a long way at Cork latest before finishing third and could build on that for Michael Halford and Tracey Collins. Finsceal Annie looks sure to be popular after delivering at Tipperary before just failing by a head to follow up at the same track. Prominent racer Simple Endeavour has finished second on her last couple of outings and ought to be in the mix too.
HALE BOPP has been given a chance by the handicapper and shaped well over a shorter trip at the Curragh last month. He gets the nod in the finale. Keilah and Limestone Red can also make their presence felt.
FINSCEAL ANNIE gets the nod. She was arguably a shade unlucky not to win again last time and a 5lb hike may not halt her progression.

4th (1) (2/1 -14%) Bernard Spierpoint |
2/1(-14%) | (1) Bernard Spierpoint 2/1, Course winner. 3 wins from 10 runs this year. 13/8, career best when winning 6-runner handicap at Brighton (5.3f, good) 16 days ago, finding extra. Seems sure to go well again. 3-3 since returning to D Holland; career-best form at Brighton latest; obvious claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Unbeaten in three starts since rejoining Darryll Holland, another big run can be expected from Bernard Spierpoint. However, this looks deeper than the handicap he won at Brighton and, with that in mind, IT'S SHOWTIME could be the way to go given she is far less exposed on turf and appears to have been found a decent opportunity. Jungle Run is also noted.
BERNARD SPIERPOINT is on a roll and can get the 4-timer up. It's Showtime might be the danger back down in class.
A small field but still competitive. KURIMU wasn't seen to best effect on AW last time and can prove too strong for Jungle Run.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
UNIQUE SPIRIT finished third over C&D last Thursday when tackling this distance for the first time, and a repeat of that display might see David O'Meara's gelding shed the maiden tag in what appears to be a winnable contest on paper. Veer has filled the runner-up spot on his last couple of starts and may benefit from stepping up in trip, while others to note include Lunacy and Different Drum.
UNIQUE SPIRIT took a step forward on his first go over 2m when a recent C&D third and is fancied to open his account off the same mark here. Lunacy and Pop The Champagne are a couple of others to consider.
The choice is VEER who has finished runner up in his last two starts over 1m6f, shaping as though this even stiffer test would suit.

6/1(-71%) | (4) Night In Paris 6/1, Twice-raced maiden. 4/5, third of 7 in novice at Ripon (6f, good to firm). Off 121 days. Hood on 1st time and very much one to consider. Not seen since turned over at odds-on at Ripon in May; hood on; watch market. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Magic Basma made a winning debut at Carlisle when getting the better of Khaldiya (third), but it would be no surprise if the latter were able to reverse the form with Kevin Ryan's filly carrying a 7lb penalty. The vote, though, goes to PRIMROSE PATH. The daughter of Kodiac took a decent step forward from her debut when just denied at Newbury last time and wouldn't need to improve all that much to go one better.
Little between the principals on form but Kevin Ryan's debut Carlisle scorer MAGIC BASMA looks open to a fair bit of progress so is fancied to follow up at the chief expense of Khaldiya. Primrose Path is another who needs factoring in, along with the returning Night In Paris.
This can go to MAGIC BASMA who is taken to confirm last month's Carlisle running with Khaldiya.

1st (7) (5/1 +44%) Kilteel |
5/1(+44%) | (7) Kilteel 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, eighth of 14 in minor event at Newmarket (6f, soft) 24 days ago. Sizeable step forward will be needed if she's to make an impact now making the switch to a nursery. Well beaten in three starts on turf; may show improvement on nursery/AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 +27%) Wiesaam |
2/1(+27%) | (5) Wiesaam 2/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, last of 13 in novice at Windsor (6f, soft) 24 days ago. In good hands and worth a second look in the betting now pitched into a nursery for top connections with first-time blinkers enlisted. Well beaten in three starts on turf; may show more now switched to a nursery; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (12/1 -167%) Elladora Black |
12/1(-167%) | (4) Elladora Black 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/1, fifth of 6 in nursery at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) 45 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and she could be an each-way contender if taking to this surface. Half-sister to two AW winners including one here; may find a bit more for the new surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (17/2 -113%) Lift Lady |
17/2(-113%) | (8) Lift Lady 17/2, 8/1, creditable third of 8 in nursery at Brighton (6f, good) 16 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and tongue strap on 1st time. Shapes as though this step back up in trip will help and she should be on the premises. Return to 7f should suit, but has already been beaten in five nurseries; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4/1 -14%) Harry Palmer |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Harry Palmer 4/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in maiden (25/1) at Catterick (7f, good to firm) 42 days ago, again slowly away. Mark for this nursery debut is reasonable and he's not without hope. Well held in three starts on turf, but pedigree suggests the switch to the AW may suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (17/2 +6%) Darla's Secret |
17/2(+6%) | (2) Darla's Secret 17/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 10 in maiden at Thirsk (6f, good to firm, 40/1) 32 days ago, not knocked about. Needs to improve now upped in trip for this nursery debut. Out of the frame in three starts over 5f/6f; longer trip should suit on nursery debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (33/1 -267%) Focus On Zaam |
33/1(-267%) | (3) Focus On Zaam 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in nursery (12/1) at Ripon (5f, good to firm) 21 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on speed. Significantly up in trip on his first start on tapeta. Best effort when third at Ripon on penultimate start; longer trip and AW may suit. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Lift Lady arrives on the back of her best run to date when third at Brighton and the addition of a tongue-tie may yield further improvement, but a chance is taken on WIESAAM. The selection hasn't shown very much in three outings to date, but he represents a team in excellent form and it would be no surprise if first-time blinkers helped him on his nursery debut. Harry Palmer and Elladora Black head the remainder.
LIFT LADY has a race like this in her and could be the way to go in the hope a tongue tie can help her concentration. Harry Palmer needs to break better but could improve now handicapping and is feared. Wiesaam must make the shortlist also given her profile.
The selection is HARRY PALMER who looks interesting with his dam a sister to the smart Commander Cole who showed useful form on the AW.

1st (10) (18/1 +45%) Tasdeed |
18/1(+45%) | (10) Tasdeed 18/1, €140,000 yearling, 1,000 gns 2-y-o, Wootton Bassett colt. Closely related to French 7.5f-11f winner Le Duc. Dam, 2-y-o 6f/7f winner, half-sister to winner up to 9f Mystery Power. Wears blinkers and probably best watched on this occasion. Blinkered on debut and only of interest if attracting support. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (5/2 -43%) Trident |
5/2(-43%) | (11) Trident 5/2, No Nay Never gelding. Half-brother to several winners, including very smart Australian 5.5f-7f winner Zoustar and smart winner up to 1¾m Emperor of The Sun. Lots to like on paper and it will look significant if the market speaks in his favour. Nicely bred; market support on belated debut for leading stable would be significant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (5/1 +29%) Jodhpur Blue |
5/1(+29%) | (9) Jodhpur Blue 5/1, Twice-raced gelding. 6/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, third of 6 in novice at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) 52 days ago. Place possibilities on AW debut. Some promise in two Salisbury novices during the summer; handicaps may be more his thing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/2 +38%) Boss Dog |
5/2(+38%) | (5) Boss Dog 5/2, Promising sort. 9/1, third of 10 in novice at Kempton (7f) 20 days ago, having run of race. Open to progress and likely to be on the premises. Improved from debut when a close third at Kempton last time; one of the likelier winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (13/2 -63%) Bamburgh |
13/2(-63%) | (3) Bamburgh 13/2, Twice-raced colt. 4/1, second of 4 in maiden at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) 17 days ago, no match for winner. His form is among the best on offer in this contest and should be in the mix, provided that he takes to this surface. Showed ability in both starts on turf last month; high on list if taking to Tapeta. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/2 -13%) Parthenopaeus |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Parthenopaeus 9/2, Twice-raced gelding. 6/1, third of 11 in novice at this course (8f) when last seen in February. Drop back to 7f shouldn't be an issue and he'll surely be involved in the finish, if fit enough to do himself justice. Placed twice here at the start of the year; each-way claims if returning in the same form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (25/1 -108%) Bereit |
25/1(-108%) | (4) Bereit 25/1, More Than Ready colt. Brother to 3 winners, including smart winner up to 1m Nemoralia and 7f winner Blue On Blue. Dam US winner up to 8.5f (2-y-o 6.5f winner). Worth a second look in the betting with Jamie Spencer booked. Unraced for Dermot Weld and new stable has few winning newcomers; worth a market check. |

8th (12) (150/1 -127%) Sky Lagoon |
150/1(-127%) | (12) Sky Lagoon 150/1, Once-raced filly. 80/1, seventh of 14 in novice at Southwell (7.1f) on debut 30 days ago. Hard to warm to. Midfield on her Southwell debut last month; may be one for handicaps in due course. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (50/1 -213%) Cable Beach |
50/1(-213%) | (7) Cable Beach 50/1, Once-raced gelding. 100/1, fifth of 10 in maiden at Southwell (7.1f) on debut in March, not knocked about. That experience won't be wasted on him and improvement is on the cards. Showed promise when fifth on his Southwell debut in March; watch market on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (200/1 -100%) Arc Tesoro |
200/1(-100%) | (2) Arc Tesoro 200/1, Once-raced gelding. Sixth of 8 in maiden at Southwell (8.1f, 50/1) on debut 14 days ago. Probably more one for handicaps in due course. Well-beaten sixth on his Southwell debut a fortnight ago; probably needs more time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (150/1 -50%) Glastonbury |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Glastonbury 150/1, Twice-raced gelding. 150/1, ninth of 12 in maiden at Southwell (6.1f) 18 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Another who will be of greater interest in handicaps later on. Well beaten in two Southwell maidens last month; looks one for handicaps after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (150/1 -200%) Boyd Crowder |
150/1(-200%) | (6) Boyd Crowder 150/1, Twice-raced gelding. Eighth of 14 in novice (28/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 30 days ago. Yard saddles a stronger candidate in Parthenopaeus. Out of the frame in both starts, running green each time; one for handicaps after this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BOSS DOG took a big leap forward from his debut effort when making the frame at Kempton last month, and he should have plenty more to offer on only his third start. With Tom Marquand booked, he looks set for a big run. Bamburgh has shown ability on both of his starts to date, including his second at Beverley last time, and he is one to take seriously on his first all-weather start. Any market support for newcomer Trident would be interesting.
The hint should probably be taken if there is confidence behind newcomer TRIDENT in the betting. Indeed, he looks the part on paper and wouldn't need to be out of the ordinary to make a winning debut here. That said, Parthenopaeus, Bamburgh and Boss Dog (in order of preference) should all pick up a race before long judged on what they've shown, while Cable Beach's debut effort was not devoid of promise and he can be expected to leave that form well behind in time.
Given his pedigree and his connections, TRIDENT wouldn't have to be anything out of the ordinary to make a belated winning debut.

1st (3) (5/2 +62%) The Cookstown Cafu |
5/2(+62%) | (3) The Cookstown Cafu 5/2, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Ninth of 13 in handicap (6/1) at Pontefract (8f, good) 30 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and could be a factor if he puts his best foot forward on first run for respected new yard. Half-brother to a couple of useful AW winners and worth a market check on stable debut. |

2nd (10) (9/1 +10%) Novak |
9/1(+10%) | (10) Novak 9/1, C&D winner. Nineteen runs since last win in 2023. 9/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Place possibilities. 1-22 here and losing run up to 19; others more solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (10/1 +38%) Patontheback |
10/1(+38%) | (6) Patontheback 10/1, C&D winner. Bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap (20/1) at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Others make more appeal. Won easily over C&D in August last year; solid chance if rediscovering that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (4/1 +11%) Windsor Pass |
4/1(+11%) | (12) Windsor Pass 4/1, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. 28/1, creditable third of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 14 days ago, slowly away. Down to a career-low mark and she's a strong candidate with Jamie Spencer aboard. 0-23; down another 2lb and interesting to see if Jamie Spencer can find the key to her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (9/1 -13%) Snash |
9/1(-13%) | (11) Snash 9/1, Course winner. 15/2, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 14 days ago, not ideally placed. Not without each-way hope. 4-9 on Tapeta and 7lb below his last winning mark; this stiffer 7f does pose a question. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/1 -100%) Shaw Park |
10/1(-100%) | (1) Shaw Park 10/1, Three wins from 15 runs this year, the latest at Brighton in August. 4/1, fourth of 6 in handicap there (8f, good) 16 days ago. 1 lb lower now and should make his presence felt. In the frame in three of his four starts over C&D, but is 0-13 on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (13/2 -136%) Five Winds |
13/2(-136%) | (2) Five Winds 13/2, Winner at Yarmouth in June. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable third of 10 in handicap (11/2) at Southwell (6.1f) 22 days ago. Likely to give another good account of herself. Has run well in both starts since returned to the AW; has a bit to prove over a stiff 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (10/1 -54%) Bicep |
10/1(-54%) | (7) Bicep 10/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 5/1, bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago but he nevertheless enters calculations. Still 4lb lower than when winning over C&D last October; capable of playing a part. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (100/1 -300%) Too Much |
100/1(-300%) | (9) Too Much 100/1, Hooded for 1st time, sixth of 12 in handicap (22/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 30 days ago. Needs to raise her game. Unplaced in four starts for this yard, but ran better last time; needs to build on it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (66/1 -100%) Deputy |
66/1(-100%) | (4) Deputy 66/1, 25/1, ninth of 10 in handicap at Carlisle (6.9f, soft) 19 days ago. Makes tapeta debut and needs to bounce back in a major way. Has lost his way since last summer; best watched on Tapeta debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (28/1 -100%) Gobi Sunset |
28/1(-100%) | (8) Gobi Sunset 28/1, C&D winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. Fifth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 12/1) 14 days ago. Has work to do. Front-runner and dual C&D winner, but losing run now up to 16; needs to do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (28/1 +30%) Autumn Festival |
28/1(+30%) | (5) Autumn Festival 28/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 33/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Haydock (8.2f, good) 10 days ago. Readily passed over. Has lost his way and has never shown much aptitude for the AW in any case. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Windsor Pass lurks on an appealing mark and a repeat of her most recent third at Southwell should see her go well under Jamie Spencer. However, FIVE WINDS looks the more solid option. Jack Jones' four-year-old finished a close-up third at Southwell last time and is only 1lb higher. The step back up in trip shouldn't pose her any problems and she looks the one to beat. Snash is another to note.
While WINDSOR PASS now falls into the 'longstanding maiden' category, she has slipped to an attractive mark and is appealing back here (performed well both previous visits to this course) with Jamie Spencer booked on the back of creditable efforts at Newmarket and Southwell in recent weeks. Five Winds is proving pretty consistent and is next on the list with this step back up to 7f a potentially good move. Shaw Park, Snash and The Cookstown Cafu are others to consider.
The vote goes to PATONTHEBACK who would have a good chance if back to the form that saw him win easily over C&D in August last year.

1st (6) (11/2 -340%) Balqaa |
11/2(-340%) | (6) Balqaa 11/2, C&D winner. Improved on recent efforts to win 11-runner handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 15/8) 14 days ago, overcoming pace bias. It's unlikely that a 6 lb rise will be enough to stop her in her tracks. 2-19 here; respected despite 6lb rise for her Southwell success a fortnight ago. |

2nd (2) (9/2 +50%) Cuban Fiesta |
9/2(+50%) | (2) Cuban Fiesta 9/2, Respectable sixth of 13 in handicap at this course (7.1f, 14/1) 82 days ago, running on. First run for yard after leaving Ed Dunlop and it'll be interesting to see how he shapes up in the betting. 0-7 for Ed Dunlop; watch market on stable debut. |

3rd (3) (13/2 -30%) Tambourine Dream |
13/2(-30%) | (3) Tambourine Dream 13/2, 5/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 13 days ago and could have a part to play off the same mark here, provided she is able to build on that. Twice placed in Polytrack handicaps; each-way claims if able to repeat that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (25/1 -56%) Carvalhal |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Carvalhal 25/1, Winner at Hamilton in August. 10/1, last of 13 in handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, soft) 13 days ago. Others look stronger. Bolted up at Hamilton last month, but a 7lb rise has seemed to find him out twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (5/4 +50%) Love Warrior |
5/4(+50%) | (4) Love Warrior 5/4, First run since leaving Charlie Johnston when creditable second of 14 in handicap (3/1) at this C&D 7 days ago. Likely to be in the thick of things once more. Beaten a neck into second of 14 on stable debut over C&D a week ago; major player. |

6th (7) (14/1 +58%) Meade Gold |
14/1(+58%) | (7) Meade Gold 14/1, Seventh of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 40/1) 12 days ago. Significantly back down in trip and he's readily passed over. Not within 7l of the winner in six starts; hard to know what his optimum trip is. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (28/1 -12%) Pop Favorite |
28/1(-12%) | (8) Pop Favorite 28/1, Five-time C&D winner. 40/1, twelfth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 7 days ago and looks set for another struggle. Five of his six wins have come over C&D, but not in the best of form lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (11/1 +31%) Dumfries |
11/1(+31%) | (1) Dumfries 11/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 7/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 18 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. 1-17; out of the frame in all nine starts since returning for this yard in March. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Balqaa justified favouritism in this grade at Southwell earlier in the month and she should make a bold bid off a 6lb higher rating. However, TAMBOURINE DREAM looks the way to go. James Fanshawe's filly showed improved form when dropping to a mile and finishing third at Lingfield on her latest outing. With the promise of more to come over this distance, she could capitalise off an unchanged mark. Love Warrior is also respected.
BALQAA snapped a losing run stretching back nearly two years in good style at Southwell a fortnight ago and, with the perfect partner on board to execute the hold-up tactics that bring out the best in her, this 6 lb higher mark should be well within her reach. Love Warrior went down narrowly over C&D on debut for this yard last week and he is second choice ahead of Tambourine Dream.
This can go to LOVE WARRIOR who made such a promising stable debut when beaten a neck over C&D a week ago.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
