1st (6) (15/8 +6%) Papagei |
15/8(+6%) | (6) Papagei 15/8, Winner at Yarmouth in April and added to his tally over 1½m at Leicester (good to firm) 26 days ago, forging clear. Raised 8 lb but he's very much unexposed at this trip. Won in fine style at Leicester (upped to 1m4f) on latest outing; now 8lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (15/2 +25%) Furzig |
15/2(+25%) | (3) Furzig 15/2, Latest win at Catterick in July. 25/1, respectable eighth of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (12.5f) 15 days ago. Catterick win was the highlight in a solid sequence, but below form on both outings since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/2 +18%) Croeso Cymraeg |
9/2(+18%) | (1) Croeso Cymraeg 9/2, Veteran who has shown there's still plenty of life in his legs when placed on 2 of his last 3 starts. Likely vulnerable to a progressive 3-y-o for win purposes but every chance he'll be in the mix again. Only one win (last July) in the last two years but this veteran is regularly close up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (14/1 +0%) Arcon |
14/1(+0%) | (2) Arcon 14/1, Formerly trained in Germany. Stepped up on his British debut when fifth of 13 in handicap at Southwell (1½m) 19 days ago but he didn't seem to stay the trip. Ex-French; second start for this trainer (1m4f on Southwell AW) was more like it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (6/1 +57%) Hakuna Babe |
6/1(+57%) | (7) Hakuna Babe 6/1, Second in the mud at Salisbury in May but has found life harder since, finishing eight of 9 over 1m at Lingfield last time. Remains to be seen whether a significant step up in trip helps. Tailed off in cheekpieces latest; 1m last three starts and she's never been beyond 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (5/1 +58%) Elemental Eye |
5/1(+58%) | (9) Elemental Eye 5/1, Has shaped well on a couple of occasions in recent months but he was a little disappointing when stepped up to 1½m at Beverley 12 days ago. 0-11 but three seconds, the latest here (1m2f); sixth of seven when upped to 1m4f recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (17/2 +6%) Aztec Sun |
17/2(+6%) | (5) Aztec Sun 17/2, Fair form in 3 outings for Joseph O'Brien in Ireland. Has had wind surgery ahead of this handicap debut for a new stable. Needs monitoring in the betting with Danny Tudhope booked. Has had wind surgery and left Joseph O'Brien; unexposed handicap debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (28/1 -27%) Glasses Up |
28/1(-27%) | (11) Glasses Up 28/1, Latest win at Ayr (1¼m) in August but not in the same form when only ninth of 10 at Musselburgh (12.5f, good) 10 days ago. Others more persuasive. Ayr specialist, infrequent winner these days but latest instance was only two starts back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (100/1 -100%) Galahad Threepwood |
100/1(-100%) | (4) Galahad Threepwood 100/1, Has beaten only a couple home in 3 runs back on the Flat in recent months. Others are preferred again. Has mostly struggled to get competitive since winning over hurdles in March 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (150/1 -436%) Trafalgar Square |
150/1(-436%) | (10) Trafalgar Square 150/1, Well held in 2 handicaps on the Flat for this yard in the spring. Second on Market Rasen hurdle debut in June but beaten 11 lengths and well held at Cartmel since. Others preferred back on the Flat. 0-4 for Andrew Balding and 0-4 for current yard; cheekpieces join his usual tongue-tie. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PAPAGEI has been progressive throughout this season and put in a career best when an easy winner over 1m4f at Leicester last month. Even an 8lb rise for that may still underestimate the son of Masar and he gets the vote. Croeso Cymraeg hit the crossbar off this mark at Beverley recently and is likely to be in the mix once again. Others to note are Elemental Eye and Aztec Sun.
PAPAGEI had plenty to spare when successfully tackling 1½m for the first time at Leicester last month and is selected to make light of an 8 lb rise. Scottish Reel appeals as one who could have more to come in handicaps and is second choice ahead of in-form veteran Croeso Cymraeg.
There are possible improvers among the 3yos, with PAPAGEI (nap) selected following his impressive win when upped to 1m4f.

1st (1) (11/8 -141%) Fine Margin |
11/8(-141%) | (1) Fine Margin 11/8, After a couple of lesser efforts, got back on track when landing the odds in a Fontwell maiden (19.1f, good) in May and he defied a penalty without too much fuss at Worcester in July. Remains the one to beat in hat-trick bid. Showed useful form in handicaps last season and is 2-2 in novice company this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (13/2 +35%) Fumet D'oudairies |
13/2(+35%) | (5) Fumet D'oudairies 13/2, Had his share of success in hunter chases and points, adding to tally at Stratford in May 2022. Off since December of that year so well-being taken on trust on this belated hurdles debut. Useful and prolific pointer/hunter chaser in 2019-2022; back from long absence today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/4 +31%) Jumping Susie |
11/4(+31%) | (2) Jumping Susie 11/4, Career best when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (18.9f, good) in July, responding well. Matched that form when third under a penalty at Tramore 3 weeks ago and this Irish raider has to be feared. Dual hurdle winner this season and helps to give the Irish a strong hand in this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (9/4 +50%) Home Sweet Highway |
9/4(+50%) | (6) Home Sweet Highway 9/4, Confirmed the promise of his Bangor run when landing 13-runner contest back there in June, staying on well. That puts him in the mix back in a novice. Escapes a penalty for his low-grade handicap win here in June and can make presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (10/1 +17%) Court Cian |
10/1(+17%) | (3) Court Cian 10/1, Fair in bumpers for Gearoid Patrick Brouder and showed some aptitude for hurdling when fifth of 12 in novice at Taunton (19f, soft) in January 2023. Dual-point winner since but fell on chase debut at Fakenham in May and has since moved yards again. Dual point winner in April but faces pretty tough assignment on this rules return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (150/1 -355%) Fond Farewell |
150/1(-355%) | (4) Fond Farewell 150/1, Modest handicapper at best on Flat (should stay 2m), down the field both starts for current yard. Hurdles debut. Low-grade Flat winner in 2023; unlikely to meet the standard required on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (150/1 -127%) Sheer Joy |
150/1(-127%) | (7) Sheer Joy 150/1, Runner-up on completed start in a point but only seventh in a Worcester novice on hurdling debut and looks more of a handicap type. Struggled to get competitive on rules debut at Worcester (2m4f) in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (300/1 -100%) Wheresmemoneygone |
300/1(-100%) | (8) Wheresmemoneygone 300/1, Has looked limited in various company. A well-beaten outsider on his first two hurdling starts (2m4f/2m). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (125/1 -89%) Suitably Surprised |
125/1(-89%) | (11) Suitably Surprised 125/1, Runner-up on her final outing in points but low-key start over hurdles. Showed some ability in Irish points last season; well beaten on first two hurdling starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (150/1 -127%) Primary Explosive |
150/1(-127%) | (10) Primary Explosive 150/1, Blue Bresil mare. Dam, bumper/fair 2m hurdle winner, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 27f) Trackmate and bumper winner/useful hurdler (stayed 25f) Desilvano. No impact on last month's debut but this trip will suit, at least. Displayed minor promise on debut but is probably one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (250/1 -150%) Fllana Bay |
250/1(-150%) | (9) Fllana Bay 250/1, Merit established and she fell heavily on June's return to action. 0-12 over hurdles and can't be recommended on today's terms. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FINE MARGIN has justified favouritism on each of his last two outings and he sets the standard for others to aim at with a rating of 128. The son of Solider Of Fortune is on an upward curve at present and doesn't look like stopping anytime soon. Jumping Susie is in good form and finished a fair third at Tramore last month, so she looks the main threat. Home Sweet Highway is the pick of the remainder.
FINE MARGIN has outclassed the opposition both starts in Britain this season and is selected to successfully concede weight all round and complete the hat-trick. Fellow-Irish raider Jumping Susie is a big threat, with Home Sweet Highway also of interest out of handicap company.
Winning hurdlers Jumping Susie and Home Sweet Highway are both respected but FINE MARGIN is taken to complete a hat-trick.

6/1(+50%) | (13) Terries Royale 6/1, Comes here in good nick without winning, hampered when fourth of 13 in handicap at Pontefract (8f, good) 19 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Lightly raced maiden; running well in 1m handicaps; probably needs an extra push. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/2 +68%) Shaladar |
7/2(+68%) | (5) Shaladar 7/2, On a long losing run but he posted a creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Beverley (8.4f, good) 12 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and can give a good account. Good 3rd to Crystal Casque in this race last year; down weights; primed for revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (10/1 -150%) Dakota Power |
10/1(-150%) | (10) Dakota Power 10/1, Resumed winning ways in 4-runner handicap at Ffos Las (7.4f, soft) 31 days ago. Hiked up 8 lb but he was well on top at the finish there so can go well again. Won both soft-ground races at about 7f this year; has more of a stamina test here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (9/1 +25%) Double Time |
9/1(+25%) | (2) Double Time 9/1, Scored at Goodwood in June but only eighth of 14 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 23 days ago. Headed close home in this race last year; since won for M Jordan at Goodwood; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/1 +0%) Crystal Casque |
9/1(+0%) | (4) Crystal Casque 9/1, Arrives in good nick, third of 8 in handicap at Goodwood (8f, good) 14 days ago. Took this 12 months ago so she's very much one to consider. Latest turf win in this race last year; down weights and in form again; solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (4/1 +27%) Law Supreme |
4/1(+27%) | (7) Law Supreme 4/1, A winner at Bath in April and he returned to form when second of 8 in handicap at Windsor (8.1f, soft) 13 days ago. Shortlisted. Acts on good but suited by slower surfaces, won and gone close in two runs on soft in 2024. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (28/1 -180%) Mumayaz |
28/1(-180%) | (14) Mumayaz 28/1, Winless since March but he got back on track when second of 6 in handicap at Brighton (8f, good) 29 days ago. Not ruled out. 1m winner on AW; beaten in a lower grade last month; others might stay the trip better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (40/1 -60%) Master Of Combat |
40/1(-60%) | (3) Master Of Combat 40/1, Winless this term but he wasn't disgraced when eighth of 14 in handicap at Newbury (8f, good to firm) 8 days ago. No forlorn hope. In good form on AW but turf mark has risen in tandem; held in last 2 turf starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (11/1 -83%) Power Of Gold |
11/1(-83%) | (6) Power Of Gold 11/1, Got back on track when a running-on second of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Needs considering returned to 1m. Has won at 1m; best effort for a while on latest (7f) and hitting form at the right time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (22/1 -38%) One Step Beyond |
22/1(-38%) | (11) One Step Beyond 22/1, Arrives below par, ninth of 11 in C&D handicap 56 days ago. Handily weighted though if this C&D winner is back on his A-game in refitted cheekpieces. Well held in this race last year but won and close 3rd in two of his four C&D starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (66/1 -230%) Desert Doctor |
66/1(-230%) | (9) Desert Doctor 66/1, Raced very wide when sixth of 7 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 7 months ago. Cheekpieces on and needs to hit the ground running on his return. 1m winner for M Stratton last September; off since January; belated first try in headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (8/1 +0%) Little Empire |
8/1(+0%) | (12) Little Empire 8/1, Scored at Ayr in June and in very good form until unseated rider start in handicap at Navan (8.1f, good) 8 days ago. Weighted to go close. Two wins since April, at 7f (AW) and 1m (good); reasons for latest defeats; may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (20/1 -82%) Alazwar |
20/1(-82%) | (8) Alazwar 20/1, Course winner but he came in only sixth of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (9f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Cheekpieces go back on with a bit to prove. Below best in this last year; later won here (7f) under B Hampson; weighted to go well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Power Of Gold was narrowly denied over 7f at Doncaster last time out and must be respected back at the mile, while last-start Ffos Las scorer Dakota Power is another likely to prove popular. However, there have been more encouraging signs from last year's winner CRYSTAL CASQUE of late. Rod Millman's mare is now 5lb lower than for that triumph and a repeat could be on the cards. Law Supreme is another to consider.
Plenty are in with a shout but Irish raider LITTLE EMPIRE rates just the pick of these weights so edges the vote. Mick Appleby's consistent Terries Royale could emerge as the main danger, although a solid case can also be made for last year's victor Crystal Casque and in-form pair Power of Gold and Mumayaz. Handily-weighted One Step Beyond completes the shortlist.
Crystal Casque beat Double Time and SHALADAR here last year but the latter did well in the circumstances and is preferred.

1st (12) (12/1 +40%) Our Absent Friends |
12/1(+40%) | (12) Our Absent Friends 12/1, Dual winner last season who has been knocking on the door lately, again finding one too good in first-time cheekpieces at Ripon 11 days ago. Shouldn't be far away. Runner-up on three of his last four starts; each-way contender off same mark as last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/1 -10%) Arecibo |
11/1(-10%) | (5) Arecibo 11/1, Unreliable type who hasn't won for some time and wasn't really on his game at Pontefract last time. Capable from this mark on a going day, though. 9yo who is on long losing streak but has run some good races this year; on career-low mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (16/1 -33%) Grace Angel |
16/1(-33%) | (1) Grace Angel 16/1, Confirmed promise of previous effort when scoring at Brightonl last month but didn't back it up at Windsor 22 days ago. Others are more appealing. Won at Brighton last month but inconsistent and only fifth at Windsor most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (11/4 +58%) Secret Mistral |
11/4(+58%) | (11) Secret Mistral 11/4, Resumed from five months off with a career best in landing 13-runner handicap over C&D in June and has remained in top form since, so expected to give another good account. Won over C&D in June and placed on next three starts; can make another bold bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/1 +10%) The Coffee Pod |
9/1(+10%) | (8) The Coffee Pod 9/1, Latest win at York in July but hasn't fired on his last couple of outings and others look better treated. 3yo who won at York in July; not at very best the last twice but can't be written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (15/2 -50%) Skallywag Bay |
15/2(-50%) | (3) Skallywag Bay 15/2, 13/8, career best when winning 4-runner handicap at Brighton (5.3f, good to soft) 4 days ago, easily. That form might not be all that strong but she deserves plenty of respect under the penalty. Won in good style at Brighton on Monday but had just the three rivals to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (11/1 -47%) Thunder Star |
11/1(-47%) | (7) Thunder Star 11/1, Showed improved form in handicaps in 2023, winning 3 times with her latest success at Yarmouth (5.2f) in September. Returned to form over C&D on penultimate outing but not in the same form next time. Given a break since. Disappointing over C&D latest but runner-up over C&D previously and could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (16/1 -88%) Copper Knight |
16/1(-88%) | (4) Copper Knight 16/1, Latest win at Chester in June. Mostly respectable efforts since and this likeable veteran can never be underestimated. 10yo who tends to ply his trade in a higher grade than this and he's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (9/1 -6%) Kuwait City |
9/1(-6%) | (10) Kuwait City 9/1, Back to winning ways at Yarmouth in April and shaped encouragingly when eighth of 12 at Newbury (6f, good to firm) in June. Subsequent efforts best excused and his mark is easing back down, so not written off. 4lb lower than for reappearance Yarmouth win but subsequent form has been patchy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (15/2 +12%) Bayraat |
15/2(+12%) | (14) Bayraat 15/2, Largely consistent in 2023 and back in the groove this year, finishing well when third at York 41 days ago. Looks a big player if the race is run to suit. Close third of 18 off this mark at York last time and could play another leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (14/1 +0%) Never Dark |
14/1(+0%) | (2) Never Dark 14/1, Made all at Nottingham in July but has found life tougher since, down the field in a competitive event at York last time. Drops back down in grade but others have more compelling claims judged on recent evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (18/1 -50%) Love Wars |
18/1(-50%) | (9) Love Wars 18/1, Won her only start as a 2yo and has bettered that on one occasion this term. Last couple of outings have been underwhelming, though, and others are more persuasive. Went close over C&D in June on handicap debut; the return here could be a positive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (66/1 -313%) Zaphea |
66/1(-313%) | (13) Zaphea 66/1, Put up one of her better efforts when scoring at Hamilton a fortnight ago but will likely face competition for the lead here and she's not proved the most reliable to date. Three wins this year, most recently at Hamilton; up in the weights and in grade today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SKALLYWAG BAY had plenty in hand when winning over an extended 5f at Brighton on Monday and Richard Hannon's filly is hard to oppose on the back of that performance, despite carrying a 5lb penalty. Secret Mistral and Our Absent Friends have both been knocking on the door of late and are likely to be in the mix once again, while Zaphea and Arecibo complete the shortlist.
SKALLYWAG BAY emerged from the fog to score well at Brighton earlier in the week and she might well have enough to defy the penalty if the race doesn't come too soon. Secret Mistral and Bayraat are both obvious dangers.
Bottom weight BAYRAAT runs off the same mark as when third of 18 at York last time and is the selection ahead of Secret Mistral.

Will take plenty of beating under a penalty. Took form to whole new level when winning easily by 16l at Fontwell last week; 7lb penalty. |

2nd (6) (11/1 -69%) Kopa Kilana |
11/1(-69%) | (6) Kopa Kilana 11/1, Exposed maiden hurdler but posted another good effort when second in 10-runner maiden at Market Rasen (20.6f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Likely to give another good account. 0-17 over hurdles but scores good marks for his consistency this season; in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (8/1 -78%) Eagle's Realm |
8/1(-78%) | (2) Eagle's Realm 8/1, Completed a hat-trick on the level to end 2023 and added to his tally at Southwell in February. Ran up to his best back over hurdles when narrowly denied in 10-runner handicap at Stratford in July and seems likely to go well again. Four-time AW winner since October; went close when back over hurdles in July; major player. |

12/1(+0%) | (4) Presenting Pete 12/1, Showed some ability remains when fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f, good) 9 days ago. Remains to be seen if he's able to build on that. Latest run was a big step back in the right direction but he still has something to prove. |

12/1(+40%) | (9) Crac De Megaudais 12/1, Showed more than previously switched to a handicap in a first-time hood when fourth of 11 at Stratford (18.7f, good, 20/1) 66 days ago, unable to sustain effort after 7 months off. May do better still. Not beaten far when fourth on handicap debut and could easily have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (28/1 +15%) Ismael |
28/1(+15%) | (5) Ismael 28/1, Opened his account under Rules in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter in January but disappointing both starts since. Ended last season with two below-par runs and may need some rain here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (22/1 -214%) Youlneverwalkalone |
22/1(-214%) | (3) Youlneverwalkalone 22/1, Modest form over hurdles but ran below form in a maiden at Worcester (23f, good) on most recent outing. First run for yard after leaving Fergal O'Brien. Makes handicap debut. Placed in 2m7f novice in June; back in trip for stable/handicap debut; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (25/1 +24%) Cawthorne Cracker |
25/1(+24%) | (10) Cawthorne Cracker 25/1, Successful at Stratford in June but well held all 3 starts since. Form has slumped badly since Stratford win in June; leap of faith needed to support him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (18/1 -29%) Simply Red |
18/1(-29%) | (1) Simply Red 18/1, 4-time course winner but surrendered her unbeaten record here in tame fashion in June. Cheekpieces back on. Out of form in the spring but might be boosted by refitted cheekpieces today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 -52%) Blue Clover |
100/1(-52%) | (8) Blue Clover 100/1, Has gone on the wrong way and easily passed over in a first-time visor. Pulled up when 80-1 for handicap debut; back up in trip with new headgear tried here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HAWAII DU MESTIVEL bolted up in this grade at Fontwell on his latest outing and is hard to get away from. If Neil Mulholland's seven-year-old can run anywhere near that form again, he could prove very difficult to beat. Eagle's Realm hit the crossbar at Stratford in July and could get into contention off 2lb higher, while Kopa Kilana can fight it out for the minor honours.
HAWAII DU MESTIVEL routed his opposition at Fontwell last week and is sure to take all the beating under a penalty. Eagle's Realm and Kopa Kilana can give him most to do.
It's hard to get away from HAWAII DU MESTIVEL, who ran his rivals into the ground at Fontwell a week ago and is 7lb well in here.

15/2(+6%) | (8) Seaplane 15/2, 5/1, second of 9 in maiden at Leicester (6f, soft, 5/1) on debut in May. Given time since. Should have more to offer. Second of nine in maiden at Leicester (6f, good to soft) in May was a promising start. |

3rd (10) (16/1 -14%) Too Soon |
16/1(-14%) | (10) Too Soon 16/1, 25/1, caught the eye when fifth of 11 in maiden at Goodwood (7f, good to firm) on debut 34 days ago, running on from the rear without being knocked about. Open to improvement. 25-1, made promising late headway when fifth of 11 in Goodwood maiden (7f, good to firm). |

4th (6) (10/1 +0%) Frankini |
10/1(+0%) | (6) Frankini 10/1, 400,000 gns Frankel colt. Dam, French 5.5f winner (Prix Sigy and including at 2 yrs), closely related to very smart winner up to 7f Polydream. Wears hood. One of a few interesting newcomers in this line-up. 400,000gns yearling by Frankel; late foal; hooded for debut but needs a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (15/8 +25%) Isambard Brunel |
15/8(+25%) | (7) Isambard Brunel 15/8, 11/4, shaped encouragingly when fifth of 10 in maiden at Newbury (8f, good to firm) on debut 21 days ago. Likely to improve, possibly considerably so. Fifth at Newbury (1m, good) three weeks ago; the sort to do a lot better in time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (10/3 -11%) Fifth Column |
10/3(-11%) | (5) Fifth Column 10/3, Sent off at 11/8 but badly needed the experience when seventh of 13 in novice at Kempton (7f) on debut 30 days ago, nearest finish. Should do much better. 11-8 at Kempton (7f, AW) when never able to challenge but getting hang of things late on. |

7th (9) (50/1 -52%) Solar Army |

100/1(-203%) | (12) Winston's Warrior 100/1, 66/1, ninth of 16 in novice at Newbury (7f, good to firm) on debut 49 days ago. Outsider again. 66-1 for novice at Newbury (7f, good) seven weeks ago and beaten about 9l in mid-division. |

9th (2) (12/1 -100%) Al Samed |
12/1(-100%) | (2) Al Samed 12/1, Dubawi colt. Dam, 2-y-o 7f winner, half-sister to useful 1¼m-1½m winner Savvy Knight. Represents leading connections and needs checking out in the betting. By Dubawi; first foal; dam 7f 2yo winner (RPR 94), half-sister to useful winners. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
This looks a warm contest on paper, with the likes of Al Samed, Tornado Alert and Frankini all making some appeal ahead of their debuts. Experience might prove to be crucial, though, and it is the Aidan O'Brien-trained ISAMBARD BRUNEL who shades preference. The son of Justify didn't quite get home over the mile at Newbury three weeks ago, but he ought to be wiser this time around and could step forward now eased in trip. Others to note include Calla Lagoon, Fifth Column and Seaplane.
This promises to be an informative maiden. ISAMBARD BRUNEL should be a lot wiser for last month's Newbury debut and is preferred to Fifth Column, another who should be much more clued up with an outing under his belt. Frankini and Tornado Alert, who represents last year's winning yard, are a couple of interesting newcomers.
It's not easy to say who will improve the most but Aidan O'Brien's ISAMBARD BRUNEL is a prime candidate.

1st (1) (17/2 -113%) First Instinct |
17/2(-113%) | (1) First Instinct 17/2, Made plenty of appeal on paper and overcame inexperience to land 11-runner maiden at Nottingham (6.1f, good) on debut 24 days ago, slowly away but strong at the finish. Penalty to carry and bare form is ordinary but she's sure to improve. Neck win on debut at Nottingham; carries penalty but could have lots more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (11/10 +37%) Stormy Impact |
11/10(+37%) | (7) Stormy Impact 11/10, Study of Man filly who shaped with plenty of encouragement when second behind another promising newcomer in novice at York (6f, good to firm, 9/1) on debut in July. Failed to land the odds at Beverley since but well worth another chance. Runner-up on both starts and holds leading form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 -80%) Liberalised |
9/2(-80%) | (2) Liberalised 9/2, Won 6f Hamilton maiden on debut in June and stepped up on that form when 3½ lengths eighth of 11 to Arabian Dusk in Duchess of Cambridge over 6f a month later. Speedy pedigree and perhaps didn't see out 7f when disappointing in the Sweet Solera Stakes latest. Won on debut at Hamilton in June; held in Group races since but drops back down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (12/1 -71%) Mother Mara |
12/1(-71%) | (5) Mother Mara 12/1, Foaled March 17. 68,000 gns foal, 80,000 gns yearling, Mohaather filly. Closely related to useful winner up to 6f Showalong and half-sister to 5f/6f winner Nigg Bay and winner up to 1¼m Miss Harmony. Lot to like on paper for powerful yard. A useful standard is required on debut but her trainer does well with 2yos here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (25/1 -25%) Flashy Dark Angel |
25/1(-25%) | (4) Flashy Dark Angel 25/1, Foaled January 21. 25,000 gns yearling, €75,000 2-y-o, Dark Angel filly. Dam unraced half-sister to 1m/9f winner Oversubscribed out of smart winner up to 1m (2-y-o 7f winner) Zurigha. Ultimately didn't achieve a great deal starting out at Haydock in July. Since had a wind op. Has had wind op since C&D debut but others have far more obvious claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (10/3 +39%) Rogue Sensation |
10/3(+39%) | (6) Rogue Sensation 10/3, Foaled January 29. 50,000 gns yearling, Too Darn Hot filly. Half-sister to 1½m/12.5f winner Kensington and 2-y-o 7f winner Tchaikovsky. Bred to stay well but showed plenty on 6f debut when runner-up at Carlisle 16 days ago. One to consider. Close second on recent debut at Carlisle and in calculations after that promising start. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
First Instinct has to be of interest following her debut win at Nottingham last month, but marginal preference is for LIBERALISED. Karl Burke's filly has not been disgraced in Group company since winning on her first start at Hamilton in June and the daughter of Kodiac can take full advantage of having her sights lowered. Rogue Sensation and Stormy Impact are others with strong form claims, while Mother Mara is a noteworthy newcomer.
Following a highly-promising debut, STORMY IMPACT failed to land short odds at Beverley 3 weeks ago but she will have learnt a bit from that and on balance, is well worth another chance. Liberalised is the chief threat on form, though Rogue Sensation and First Instinct need considering.
Having been a clear runner-up on both starts, STORMY IMPACT is taken to get off the mark. Rogue Sensation is second choice.

1st (1) (6/1 -33%) Jacobs Acre |
6/1(-33%) | (1) Jacobs Acre 6/1, Fair form in bumpers and placed in 2m maidens at Wincanton and Worcester since switching to hurdles. Unexposed now making a quick switch to handicaps and if able to settle better over this longer trip, he's interesting returning from 3 months off. Placed on both hurdling starts and ought to have improvement to come in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (7/2 -40%) Ten Ten Twenty |
7/2(-40%) | (7) Ten Ten Twenty 7/2, Back to winning ways in this sphere when winning at Market Rasen (20.6f, good to firm) in July and followed up from the same mark at Uttoxeter (19.9f, soft) 10 days later, the contrasting conditions proving no issue. 6 lb higher here and should make a bold bid for the hat-trick. Won twice under a 10lb claimer in July; has a bit more to do off new mark here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (16/1 +36%) Time To Tinker |
16/1(+36%) | (5) Time To Tinker 16/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2021 and fared no better in first-time blinkers when well held at Worcester (23f, good) just over a fortnight ago (lost a shoe). Stacks to prove at present but handicapper given him a chance. Useful in his prime but has poor completion record for current stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (11/4 +58%) Into The Sunset |
11/4(+58%) | (10) Into The Sunset 11/4, Dual hurdles winner in 2022. Missed whole of 2023 and has yet to match his previous best this year, tried over fences last 2 starts. Career-low mark to work with back hurdling and one to take seriously with talented conditional taking off a further 7 lb. First two chasing attempts were very respectable; now back hurdling on very tempting mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (15/2 +6%) Bergentown |
15/2(+6%) | (9) Bergentown 15/2, Back from 7 months off when creditable second of 13 in handicap hurdle at Worcester (20f, good) just over 10 weeks ago. Races off same mark here and is one for shortlist (goes well fresh). Ran well in defeat in June, after a break, but needs to prove he can hold his form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/2 -64%) Jumping Jupiter |
9/2(-64%) | (2) Jumping Jupiter 9/2, Beaten by a subsequent winner at Southwell on return/yard debut in May and went one better from the same mark in 14-runner event at Hexham (16.2f, good to soft) a fortnight later, responding well. Still not had a lot of racing and there are more races to be won with him. Ready winner at Hexham (2m) on second stable start and remains lightly raced. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (150/1 -355%) Ferrobin |
150/1(-355%) | (3) Ferrobin 150/1, Revived out of the blue when springing a 66/1 surprise at Huntingdon in April but rather predictably wasn't in the same form back there (19.6f, good) a fortnight later. Returns from 4 months off and will probably need this outing. Shock winner in April but pulled up next time; now has it all to prove again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (16/1 -14%) Aviewofthestars |
16/1(-14%) | (6) Aviewofthestars 16/1, Two from 2 upon joining Fergal O'Brien last autumn and took a step firmly back in the right direction on third run for this yard at Hexham (16.2f, good to soft) in May. Wasn't in same form the last twice but can't be ruled out. Running respectably this year but others here have more pressing claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (10/1 +38%) Fenney Brook |
10/1(+38%) | (8) Fenney Brook 10/1, Has slipped in the weights and confirmed she's back on good order with another third-place finish at Newton Abbot in July. However, she ran poorly after 8 weeks off at Stratford (22f, good) 10 days ago and now has a first-time tongue tie applied. Placed twice this summer but needs to bounce back from below-par run last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (33/1 -230%) City Of Ruins |
33/1(-230%) | (4) City Of Ruins 33/1, Promise in juvenile hurdles for Donald McCain last summer. Ignored in the betting but sound start for new yard when third on handicap debut at Southwell in June but was well held on the most testing ground he has encountered at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft) a month later. Up in trip. Placed on stable/handicap debut in June; soft ground the excuse for lesser run in July. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Bergentown was denied by five lengths into second at Worcester in June and has to be respected off the same mark. However, he could come out second best to the hat-trick seeking TEN TEN TWENTY, who struck on soft ground at Uttoxeter on his latest outing and will have no issues with this quicker surface judged on his triumph at Market Rasen two starts ago. Last-time-out winner Jumping Jupiter is another to note.
A host in with a shout but it could pay to take a chance on bottom-weight INTO THE SUNSET, who reverts to hurdles and has a talented conditional taking off a further 7 lb. Jumping Jupiter opened his account at Hexham back in the spring so he heads up the opposition provided he's ready to roll, with Jacobs Acre and Bergentown another couple fancied to feature, too.
Handicap debutant JACOBS ACRE split two next-time-out winners when second in a Worcester maiden in June and still has potential.

10/1(+0%) | (7) Music Piece 10/1, Foaled February 3. Camelot filly. Half-sister to 2 winners abroad by Churchill. Dam, 8.3f-1¼m winner who stayed 14.5f, sister to useful 1¼m winner Great Example. Considered debutante, especially if the market vibes are positive. Camelot half-sister to two winners abroad; dam 1m/1m2f winner (also Park Hill runner-up). |

Newcomers from this yard are often fancied so she commands plenty of respect. By Camelot; from a powerful yard whose 2yos had a good August. |

80/1(+20%) | (6) Koko Blue 80/1, Unseated her rider at the start in novice (66/1) at Salisbury (8f, good to firm) on debut 22 days ago. This Kameko filly needs to take a major step forward. 66-1 at Salisbury three weeks ago, unseating when she bucked soon after leaving the stalls. |

12/1(+14%) | (4) Eternal Blessing 12/1, Foaled March 9. €310,000 yearling, Wootton Bassett filly. Half-sister to smart winner up to 1½m True Testament. Dam, 1½m winner, sister to very smart 2-y-o 1m winner Gan Amhras. Market can guide on her first run. 310,000euros by Wootton Bassett; no 2yo winners for the stable this term. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BALLET SLIPPERS was third behind a potentially smart type on her Curragh debut before finding another exciting prospect too strong there next time. The daughter of Dubawi, who is the first foal out of the brilliant Magical, should be even better now sent over a mile and looks set to strike at the third time of asking. Glistening has produced a similar level of form across her two starts and is unlikely to be far away, while the penalised Kylie Of Lochalsh is taken to chase them home.
Aidan O'Brien's BALLET SLIPPERS has gone with promise on both her outings and is impossible to oppose now stepping up to 1m. Glistening also has better days ahead and appeals as the one to chase her home ahead of newcomers Tattycoram, Music Piece and Electrifarhh.
Glistening is the most plausible danger but BALLET SLIPPERS stands out on pedigree and on performance too after her Curragh second.

16/1(-60%) | (3) Bintjeddah 16/1, 220,000 gns yearling, Too Darn Hot filly. Off the pace from halfway and ultimately finished well held when seventh of 8 in novice at Newmarket (7f, good) on debut 14 days ago. This should reveal more with cheekpieces now reached for. 5/2(-67%) | (4) Blessed Star 5/2, Sotsass filly who has displayed fair form both starts to date, second of 7 in novice (9/4) at Lingfield (7.6f, good) 27 days ago. Step up to 1m promises to suit now and she's one to consider. Runner-up on both starts and holds leading form claims. |

3rd (2) (7/2 +65%) Amica |
7/2(+65%) | (2) Amica 7/2, €75,000 yearling, Dark Angel filly. Pulled hard/ran green and ultimately offered little when seventh of 10 in maiden at Newmarket (7f, good) on debut 55 days ago. Probably one for later on. Too green to do herself justice on debut; could leave that run well behind at some stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (2/1 +20%) Shining River |
2/1(+20%) | (5) Shining River 2/1, Expert Eye filly who hinted at ability on debut at Gowran (7f) in July and duly took a step forward when third of 10 in 7f maiden here 4 weeks ago, outpaced over 1f out before finishing well. Further increase in trip a plus on that evidence and she's open to further improvement. Close third over 7f here on second start when shaping as though this extra 1f would help. |

5th (6) (20/1 -67%) Zaraquelle |
20/1(-67%) | (6) Zaraquelle 20/1, Foaled March 30. €65,000 foal, 50,000 gns yearling, Zarak filly. Dam, French 2-y-o 9f winner, half-sister to useful winner up to 12.7f Dadoozdart out of half-sister to Dewhurst Stakes winner Intense Focus. Worth a check in the betting for positive vibes on debut. Dam French 1m1f AW 2yo winner (RPR 91); likely to improve for this debut outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/1 -43%) Blueandtangerine |
5/1(-43%) | (1) Blueandtangerine 5/1, Time Test filly who benefited from the further increase in trip when opening her account in a Beverley maiden (7.4f) 12 days ago, staying on to lead close home. Remains capable of better still as her stamina is drawn out further and she's respected here. Won when upped to 7.4f at Beverley and she's respected under a penalty. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Runner-up on both career outings, BLESSED STAR is bound to have learned plenty from both experiences and stepping up to 1m looks like a good move. The daughter of Sottsass may be able to take this from the front, with Shining River looking best placed to chase her home after a promising effort over 7f here last month. Blueandtangerine is likely to find things tougher under a 4lb penalty after scoring at Beverley, but she cannot be ruled out.
SHINING RIVER left her debut form well behind and saw out her race in the manner of one who promises to be suited by this further increase in trip when third over 7f here 4 weeks ago. She gets the vote with further progress anticipated. Blessed Star and Beverley scorer Blueandtangerine are expected to pose chief resistance.
Irish raider SHINING RIVER stayed on well for a close third over 7f here four weeks ago and can get off the mark now upped to 1m.

80/1(+20%) | (7) Hi George 80/1, 125/1, last of 9 in maiden at Navan (5f, good to firm) on debut 8 days ago. Huge price when well beaten on recent debut over this trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Flash The Cash (tenth) and OXFORD ROCK (seventh) met in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot in June and although neither have been able to score subsequently, they both hold strong claims. Marginal preference is for the latter, though, who finished a creditable third over 6f at Naas recently. The Starspangledbanner filly weakened late on that day suggesting she will appreciate dropping to the minimum trip. Others to note include Sharkii and Lightning Bear.
LIGHTNING BEAR made a really promising start to his career when third at Cork and fitted with cheekpieces, he may well improve beyond the level set by Flash The Cash and Oxford Rock.
A few with claims and SHARKII, who has shown a consistent level of form over this trip, gets a tentative vote.

1st (2) (2/1 -14%) Riskintheground |
2/1(-14%) | (2) Riskintheground 2/1, Much improved over fences since dropped back in trip, completing quick-fire hat-trick at Uttoxeter (20f) in June. Had winning run ended but far from disgraced when fifth in Summer Plate at Market Rasen latest but he's respected returned to calmer waters. Won three in a row before running well in Summer Plate at Market Rasen; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 +14%) Bella Bliss |
3/1(+14%) | (6) Bella Bliss 3/1, Tasted success 3 times over hurdles/fences last season. Plenty of creditable efforts in defeat this time around prior to a lesser display over hurdles at Downpatrick (21.8f) 26 days ago. Type to bounce back. Below form in cheekpieces last time but in good nick over fences/hurdles previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (25/1 +24%) The Flier Begley |
25/1(+24%) | (8) The Flier Begley 25/1, Fairly useful chase winner for Stuart Crawford in Ireland. However, low-key efforts in 2 starts over hurdles/fences upon joining new connections this summer. Arrives here with something to prove. Well handicapped on Irish form but soundly beaten on first two starts for new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/1 +0%) Presentandcounting |
5/1(+0%) | (1) Presentandcounting 5/1, Won 2 small-field chases at Ffos Las and Perth last summer and returned to that sort of form when fourth at latter venue in June. Not in same form when fifth of 7 in handicap chase at Market Rasen (21.4f) 61 days ago. Mark has eased a little at least. Capitulated rather tamely last time but has good strike-rate and is on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (20/1 -100%) Before Midnight |
20/1(-100%) | (3) Before Midnight 20/1, Veteran who shaped best when second in hunter chase company at Ludlow in April but turned in a lacklustre display after 3 months off when sixth of 7 in handicap chase at Market Rasen in July. Needs to leave that in his wake with cheekpieces back on. Second in a hunter chase in April but well beaten when back in a handicap two months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (7) (9/1 -64%) Lipa K |
9/1(-64%) | (7) Lipa K 9/1, Fine start over fences for new yard this spring, landing back-to-back course handicaps, latterly over C&D in May. Failed to complete in pair of starts since, early mistakes leaving him on the backfoot when pulled up at Uttoxeter (2m) 6 weeks ago. Still, not one to write off. Dual course winner in the spring; returns here after poor performance six weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (11/1 +21%) Herewegohoney |
11/1(+21%) | (4) Herewegohoney 11/1, Dual hurdles winner who doubled chase tally at Market Rasen (27.5f) last summer. Seen only twice since though, well-beaten after 10 months off over hurdles at Perth (20f) 3 weeks ago. This should reveal more returned to larger obstacles. Well beaten over hurdles last month, after a layoff, and would appeal more over further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (13/2 +19%) Baron De Midleton |
13/2(+19%) | (5) Baron De Midleton 13/2, Useful sort at his best who ran best race for some time from further reduced mark when second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (23.1f) 20 days ago. Drop in trip won't inconvenience him if backing that up returned to chasing. Posted sound effort over hurdles last month but this year's record is very mixed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
RISKINTHEGROUND found the competition too hot in a premier handicap back in July, but Dan Skelton's inmate had shown progressive form to land a hat-trick before that and can resume winning ways only 4lb higher than his latest success at Uttoxeter. Baron De Midleton was winning off a higher mark last season and returns to the larger obstacles with solid claims, while Presentandcounting can be given a chance on his decent fourth at Perth in June.
Having completed a quick-fire hat-trick at the beginning of this term, RISKINTHEGROUND emerged with credit from having taken a wide route when fifth in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen 7 weeks ago. He's fancied to make his presence felt returned to calmer waters, with Lipa K and Bella Bliss feared most. Presentandcounting isn't dismissed lightly either having eased a little in the weights.
Not discredited in a valuable event last time, RISKINTHEGROUND can resume the progress that saw him win his previous three races.

1st (1) (6/5 +20%) Diego Ventura |
6/5(+20%) | (1) Diego Ventura 6/5, Looked potentially above-average as he overcame inexperience to make a winning debut for Gavin Cromwell at Naas (6f, good to soft) in July (form of that maiden is working out really well). Changed hands since (bought by Wathnan Racing) and he's the one to beat, despite carrying a penalty. Naas win has been franked and since snapped up by powerful owners. |

2nd (9) (28/1 -133%) Spirit Of Farhh |
28/1(-133%) | (9) Spirit Of Farhh 28/1, Foaled April 23. €40,000 yearling, Far Above gelding. Half-brother to useful 2-y-o 5.3f/6f winner Bobsleigh. Dam 7f/1m winner who stayed 10.5f. Yard saddled the winner of this in 2019 (albeit not with a newcomer) and often uses Ascot as a launchpad for its better 2-y-os. Watch the betting. 40,000euros yearling; second foal; half-brother to 5f/6f 2yo winner Bobsleigh (RPR 99). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (40/1 +20%) Peter The Wolf |
40/1(+20%) | (6) Peter The Wolf 40/1, Equipped with a hood (discarded here) and looked very green when down the field starting out in a 6f Salisbury novice 23 days ago, leaving the impression that he's probably more one for the longer-term. 28-1 at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) and lacked the gears to get remotely involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (3/1 +54%) Fort Augustus |
3/1(+54%) | (2) Fort Augustus 3/1, 75,000 gns yearling who shaped well when finishing fifth of 11 in what looked like a decent Newmarket novice (6f, good to firm) on his introduction last month. Yard's 2-y-os typically come on for a run and this Blue Point colt can be expected to do just that. Shortlisted. Positives in his Newmarket debut and Group 1/2 entries catch the eye. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/1 -57%) Newlyn School |
11/1(-57%) | (5) Newlyn School 11/1, Half-brother to 3 winners and shaped encouragingly when fourth in an 8-runner maiden at Windsor (6f, good to firm) having looked clueless in the early stages. No great surprise that blinkers are now enlisted and this son of Dark Angel will be more street-wise this time. 13-2, he made no serious inroads from off the pace over 6f at Windsor in June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (14/1 -100%) Kosometsuke |
14/1(-100%) | (4) Kosometsuke 14/1, Foaled March 21. 85,000 gns yearling, Kodiac colt. Dam 7f winner. Represents a top yard, which saddled the winner of this in 2022, and it will be interesting to see how he shapes up in the market. 85,000gns yearling; first foal; dam 7f winner (Listed; RPR 102); market informative. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (28/1 -133%) Cindy Lou Who |
28/1(-133%) | (11) Cindy Lou Who 28/1, Showed a fair level of ability when a close third of 11 in Sandown maiden (5f, good) on debut in July, finishing well. Subsequent appearance was in listed company at Newbury, which was asking too much of her, and she may well get back on track upped to 6f here with Oisin Murphy aboard. Both runs over 5f, her first run better than the second; Murphy booked now upped to 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (150/1 -50%) Popov |
150/1(-50%) | (12) Popov 150/1, Sent off at 150/1 and trailed in last of 14 on debut at Goodwood. Readily passed over. 150-1 and finished last in a 6f maiden at Glorious Goodwood; one for another day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (8/1 -167%) Beauty By My Side |
8/1(-167%) | (10) Beauty By My Side 8/1, The early signs suggest that the Yarmouth maiden (6f, good) in which she finished fourth of 11 on debut was no more than a fair race. Still, she shaped with considerable promise, finishing strongly in the closing stages to get within a length of the winner, and improvement is likely. Held up off the pace at Yarmouth but closed up to be beaten only a length. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (9/1 +55%) Gesundheit |
9/1(+55%) | (3) Gesundheit 9/1, Showed signs of ability when seventh of 12 in novice at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) on debut. Wasn't given a hard time that day and improvement should be forthcoming. Engaged 6.10 Newbury Thursday. Well related; needed to show more at Salisbury (6f; 18-1) to be seriously considered here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Now in the colours of Wathnan Racing and switched to trainer Hamad Al Jehani after a taking debut victory at Naas in July, DIEGO VENTURA is likely to have plenty more improvement to come and he can defy his penalty. He gets the vote ahead of promising Windsor fourth Newlyn School and Beauty By My Side, who was an eye-catcher when staying on late at Yarmouth first time out.
Several of these are open to improvement, with DIEGO VENTURA the pick of them on the back of a promising debut success at Naas. That form is working out well and he could prove to be a pretty useful recruit for the burgeoning Wathnan Racing team. Beauty By My Side shaped like a ready-made future winner when fourth at Yarmouth and she is second choice ahead of likely improvers Fort Augustus and Newlyn School. Cindy Lou Who and newcomers Kosometsuke and Spirit of Farhh also merit a second look.
Wathnan Racing have made a habit of recruiting well and DIEGO VENTURA looked nice at Naas, the form of which has been franked.

1st (11) (11/2 -83%) Knight Templar |
11/2(-83%) | (11) Knight Templar 11/2, Disappointed on final start Sir Mark Prescott but looked well suited by the 2f longer trip when opening his account for new connections at Ffos Las (12f, soft) last month, staying on to lead post (runner-up has won twice since). Upped further in trip and should have more to offer. Up to 1m4f for new yard at Ffos Las (soft) and made the breakthrough in last-gasp fashion. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (12/1 0%) Far L'amore |
12/1(0%) | (10) Far L'amore 12/1, Stuck pretty well to his task in first-time cheekpieces when 2¾ lengths fourth of 6 to Almudena in handicap at Sandown (14f, good to firm) in July but appeared not to stay the longer trip at Newcastle (16.2f) just over 2 weeks ago. Back down in distance and more severe headgear reached for. Stayed 1m6f penultimate outing; swaps cheekpieces for blinkers and not entirely ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (10/1 +17%) Easy Dancer |
10/1(+17%) | (9) Easy Dancer 10/1, Opened his account on his second start in a handicap at Wolverhampton (14f) in July but failed to beat a rival at Sandown (14f, good to firm) later that month, not looking a straightforward ride. Possibly better on all-weather at present so best to look elsewhere. Off the mark in a Wolverhampton handicap (1m6f, AW) in July; last of six at Sandown latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/1 -13%) Animato |
9/1(-13%) | (3) Animato 9/1, Won back-to-back handicaps in May but somewhat of a mixed bag since, one of his better efforts when third of 6 at Redcar (14f, good to firm) just under 2 weeks ago, albeit having run of race. Now just 1 lb above his last winning mark but consistency is his achilles heel. Up and down this summer after he won two in a row over 2m in May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (8/1 -7%) Billy No Mates |
8/1(-7%) | (2) Billy No Mates 8/1, 3-time C&D winner who wasn't disgraced from a falling mark when ninth of 11 at York (11.8f, good to soft) 8 weeks ago, ideally needing stronger gallop. Now 2 lb below last winning mark and shouldn't be underestimated returned to this venue. The striking positive is three 1m6f wins from six races at Haydock; took this race in 2020. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (10/3 +17%) Frankelian |
10/3(+17%) | (7) Frankelian 10/3, Fairly useful maiden who shaped similarly to previously back in maiden company when runner-up at Lingfield (11.6f, good) just under 4 weeks ago, needing the emphasis more on stamina. Extra distance sure to play to her strengths and first-time headgear is also enlisted. 0-7 but performing consistently; new trip looks worth a go; she also now tries headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (15/2 +32%) Gifted Angel |
15/2(+32%) | (6) Gifted Angel 15/2, Tasted success 3 times over hurdles during 2023 and back to form when a close third at Chester in July. Proved nothing like so effective back at 2m at York later that month but this should prove more suitable (remains long-standing maiden on Flat, however). 0-18 on the Flat but he was a close third at Chester (1m6f, good to soft) in July. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (13/2 +64%) Haarar |
13/2(+64%) | (5) Haarar 13/2, Proved he still retains his ability in this sphere when runner-up at Thirsk in May and won back-to-back races over hurdles later that month. Never involved after 8 weeks off at Newcastle (16.2f) just over 2 weeks ago and others more appealing on balance. Well beaten at 40-1 in a recent AW run, after a break; could be more interesting today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (33/1 -200%) Lunar Jet |
33/1(-200%) | (8) Lunar Jet 33/1, Soft-ground specialist scored early last season at Redcar (10f, heavy). Just respectable efforts this season and latest outing at Chester (12.3f, soft) just under 8 weeks ago suggested this step back up in trip is worth exploring again. Career-low mark to work with, too. Veteran whose last four wins have been on soft or heavy; second run beyond 1m4f on Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (40/1 -100%) Seal Of Solomon |
40/1(-100%) | (1) Seal Of Solomon 40/1, Little to shout about this season, again finishing well held after 12 weeks off following another breathing operation at Southwell (12.1f) 19 days ago. Blinkers back on but continues to fall in the weights without showing any signs of taking advantage. Has struggled this season, given wind surgery before latest start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (10/1 +9%) Hardy Bloke |
10/1(+9%) | (4) Hardy Bloke 10/1, Winning hurdler in Ireland for Emmer Mullins who looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind judged on his 3 efforts on the level this summer. Step up in trip certainly in his favour and this looks more his bag, though drying ground will pose another question. Won once for Emmet Mullins; up in trip for Flat handicap debut, he needs a market check. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for KNIGHT TEMPLAR after a determined success on his first start for new connections at Ffos Las, the son of Haafhd is likely to have plenty more improvement forthcoming. The booking of Tom Marquand is another plus and he is preferred to Desert Quest and Lingfield second Frankelian, who has long shaped as though stepping up to this distance may suit. Animato and Billy No Mates are players based on the pick of their form as well.
Plenty in with a squeak for the longest race on the card but the suggestion is KNIGHT TEMPLAR, who made a winning start for new connections at Ffos Las last month and, upped further in trip, Robert Stephens' 3-y-o is fancied to take his form up a notch. Second choice is Frankelian, who is the only filly in the line-up and should be suited by this extra distance sporting first-time headgear. 3-time C&D winner Billy No Mates can edge out the consistent Desert Quest for third.
3yo Knight Templar is of major interest but there is enough evidence that BILLY NO MATES will still be able to pack a punch.

1st (2) (4/6 -67%) Betsen |
4/6(-67%) | (2) Betsen 4/6, Fairly useful gelding. Blinkered for 1st time, below form fourth of 8 in maiden (5/2) at Tipperary (5f, good to firm) 28 days ago. Headgear removed and he really should be going close in this. Runner-up in stakes race in April; beaten in maidens last twice and headgear now removed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (2/1 +20%) Mint Man |
2/1(+20%) | (4) Mint Man 2/1, Fairly useful gelding. Remains a maiden after 9 Flat runs. Bit below form fourth of 8 in handicap (15/2) at Dundalk (6f) 22 days ago. Major player back in a maiden. Some useful handicap form and looks the main threat to likely favourite Betsen. |

3rd (6) (10/1 +0%) The Poacher Daly |
10/1(+0%) | (6) The Poacher Daly 10/1, Fair gelding. Remains a maiden after 8 Flat runs. Respectable sixth of 13 in handicap (50/1) at Cork (5f, good to firm) 21 days ago. Mark of 65 leaves him with plenty to find but has a place chance. |

12/1(-9%) | (8) Ukiyo 12/1, Seventh of 17 in maiden at the Curragh (6f, good, 100/1) on debut 13 days ago, not knocked about. Sent off 100-1 when showing promise over 6f at the Curragh; open to improvement. |

12/1(+25%) | (5) Shelbourne Flyer 12/1, €19,000 yearling, 40,000 gns 2-y-o, Holy Roman Emperor gelding. Half-brother to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Eclipse Storm and 2-y-o 6f winner Meydan Rose. Dam 6f winner out of smart 2-y-o 6f winner Laureldean Gale. Related to a couple of 6f winners and might have a place shout on debut. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (33/1 +0%) Heir Island |
33/1(+0%) | (3) Heir Island 33/1, €23,000 yearling, Dandy Man gelding. Brother to 5f/5.3f winner Vandad and useful 5f winner Mythical Phoenix and half-brother to winner up to 1¼m Topa. Dam unraced. Related to some useful and speedy sorts but best watched on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
It's hard to get away from BETSEN judged on ratings alone in this contest. The three-year-old is 16lb superior than his closest rival Mint Man and looks to have been found a golden opportunity to shed his maiden tag. Ukiyo ran better than her odds suggested she would when seventh on debut at the Curragh and she could improve to get closer, while any market support for newcomer Shelbourne Flyer would be interesting.
BETSEN has been a little expensive to follow so far but he possesses more than his share of ability for a race like this and there should be no excuses this time. Mint Man is the obvious danger unless there's confidence behind newcomer Shelbourne Flyer.
There are obvious question marks over BETSEN after his last two performances but he is given another chance to get his head in front

33/1(+18%) | (4) Mix Of Clover 33/1, C&D winner but he was pulled up in handicap chase at Worcester (20f, good) 18 days ago. Cheekpieces go back on. Unreliable individual. 20-1 winner at Worcester in July but pulled up twice since; hard to predict. |

2nd (11) (9/2 +18%) Guillaume |
9/2(+18%) | (11) Guillaume 9/2, Won over fences at Catterick in December and has returned in good nick, fourth of 13 at Worcester (2m, good) 16 days ago. Ought to be thereabouts with cheekpieces added. In the frame on all three starts this season; a possible if aided by new cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (10/3 +33%) Mr Mackay |
10/3(+33%) | (1) Mr Mackay 10/3, Fairly useful hurdler but he signed off for last term with a below-form seventh in handicap hurdle at Kempton (16f, good) in April. Much respected now going chasing though. Largely consistent in higher-grade hurdle races last season; chase debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (11/4 +39%) Dream Jet |
11/4(+39%) | (5) Dream Jet 11/4, Fair hurdler who opened his chase account at Market Rasen in July. Good second of 10 in handicap chase there (17.2f, good to firm) 20 days ago so he must enter calculations. Won in July and was clear second to a revitalised subsequent winner last month; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (15/2 +17%) Malpas |
15/2(+17%) | (6) Malpas 15/2, C&D winner in May and he posted a solid fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Perth (16f, good) 54 days ago. Needs considering. Scored over C&D in May but has become too inconsistent to rely upon. |

|F| (2) (11/2 +21%) Ittack Blue |
11/2(+21%) | (2) Ittack Blue 11/2, 310,000 gns point recruit who clicked over hurdles with wins maiden and novice events at Market Rasen in May. However, produced a second successive tame finish sent chasing at Stratford (19.4f, good) last month. Could still do better though. Dual hurdle winner; soundly beaten on chasing debut; comes here with a point to prove. |

|PU| (10) (7/1 +0%) Neigh Botha |
7/1(+0%) | (10) Neigh Botha 7/1, Winner of sole bumper start in February 2022 and made a successful return over fences at Southwell (2m) in June. Backed it up with a good third of 7 to Mix of Clover in handicap chase at Worcester (16.5f, good) 50 days ago. Considered. Quite stylish winner in June, after a break, and subsequent run was perfectly respectable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (28/1 +15%) Nevendon |
28/1(+15%) | (7) Nevendon 28/1, A fair 2m hurdle winner but not the most consistent and a well-held fourth on the Flat at Ffos Las two weeks ago. Others appeal more. No better than a respectable fourth on chasing debut in June; others have stronger claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (40/1 -150%) Sword Of Fate |
40/1(-150%) | (9) Sword Of Fate 40/1, Scored over fences at Cartmel in July but only thirteenth in handicap hurdle at Perth (20.2f, good) 20 days ago. Needs to get back on track reverted to this sphere. Inconsistent veteran; held on well at Cartmel in July but well beaten over hurdles since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
RESTANDBETHANKFUL regained the winning thread back over fences at Cartmel on his first start after a wind operation. He looks capable of defying a 3lb rise given the runner-up has subsequently boosted that form. Dream Jet finished well clear of the rest when second at Market Rasen and can feature once again, while Neigh Botha may well have finished closer than third at Worcester if not for a blunder three out.
RESTANDBETHANKFUL had a bit up his sleeve when returning with a Cartmel success so looks the way to go off just a 1 lb higher mark here. Dream Jet is feared most on the back of his good recent Market Rasen second with Donald McCain's in-form duo Guillaume and Malpas in the mix too.
Competitive in some good-quality hurdle races last season, MR MACKAY may exploit a favourable mark on today's chasing debut.

4th (8) (7/1 -40%) Pahlavi |
7/1(-40%) | (8) Pahlavi 7/1, Fair hurdler. Remains a maiden after 8 hurdle runs. Last of 9 in handicap hurdle (16/1) at Tramore (16f, good) 22 days ago. Good run in a decent handicap at Galway; needs to bounce back from a poor run at Tramore. |

5th (12) (15/2 -36%) Marie's March |
15/2(-36%) | (12) Marie's March 15/2, Once-raced maiden. 4/1, ninth of 13 in bumper at Tramore (16.6f, good to soft) on NH debut 19 days ago, running green. Makes hurdles debut. Worthy of interest. Didn't show a great deal in a Tramore bumper last month; well bred mare should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (33/1 -32%) Marlpark |
33/1(-32%) | (3) Marlpark 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Fifth of 14 in novice hurdle at Ballinrobe (18.2f, soft, 25/1) 11 days ago. Not disgraced in maiden hurdles at Sligo and Ballinrobe last month; needs this for a mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (3/1 +14%) Garnacho |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Garnacho 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Good second of 14 in novice hurdle at this C&D (good, 7/1) 14 days ago, running on. Close second over C&D two weeks ago; this is more competitive but he's going the right way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (80/1 -60%) Mr Mcwhinny |
80/1(-60%) | (4) Mr Mcwhinny 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Eleventh of 13 in bumper (150/1) at Galway (18f, good to soft) 36 days ago. Switches from bumpers to hurdles. Ran okay in a Ballinrobe bumper last month but well beaten otherwise; makes little appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (100/1 -300%) Florance |
100/1(-300%) | (10) Florance 100/1, Fifth of 8 in novice hurdle at Down Royal (16.9f, good, 16/1) 7 days ago. Hard to fancy. Soundly beaten in two mares maiden hurdles and qualifies for a handicap mark after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (80/1 -300%) Scotch Street |
80/1(-300%) | (14) Scotch Street 80/1, Once-raced maiden. 22/1, sixth of 13 in bumper at Wexford (16.7f, good to soft) on NH debut 28 days ago, inadequate test. Makes hurdles debut. Hooded for 1st time. Second in a point-to-point; midfield in a Wexford bumper last month; tried in a hood here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (100/1 +0%) Never Present |
100/1(+0%) | (5) Never Present 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Eleventh of 20 in novice hurdle at Galway (16.8f, soft, 150/1) 34 days ago. Beaten a long way in a Galway maiden hurdle after eight months off; hard to make a case. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (6) (100/1 -52%) Our Shane |
100/1(-52%) | (6) Our Shane 100/1, Once-raced maiden. Tongue strap on, eleventh of 13 in novice hurdle at Downpatrick (17.8f, good, 12/1) on NH debut 11 days ago. Dual point winner in the spring; no show in a Downpatrick maiden hurdle (jumped poorly). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (7) (100/1 -150%) Ovidstown Hill |
100/1(-150%) | (7) Ovidstown Hill 100/1, Twice-raced maiden. Sixth of 13 in novice hurdle at Downpatrick (17.8f, good, 100/1) 11 days ago. Well beaten in maiden hurdles here and at Downpatrick last month; one for handicaps. |

|PU| (9) (200/1 -100%) Waramunga |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Waramunga 200/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. First run since leaving J. F. O'Shea when ninth of 14 in novice hurdle at Wexford (20.4f, good to soft, 150/1) on hurdles bow 55 days ago. Down in trip. Well held in a bumper and maiden hurdle a year apart; cheekpieces tried here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
I AM MIMI has some useful form and has already run over today's course-and-distance. Runner-up on bumper debut, he finished ahead of today's rival Garnacho at Ballinrobe in May and is now 7lb better off. He was well enough held at Tramore last month but is fit and well and sure to run his race. Garnacho has recent course-and-distance form but received 8lb from the winner here last month and might struggle to beat the selection. Hey Sunshine has form in summer bumpers and while lacking hurdling experience, has a light weight and can progress. Picture Of You hasn't run since disappointing in April but had run well in winter maidens, so should compete with a light weight.
HEY SUNSHINE showed plenty in bumpers and should be well prepared for her hurdling debut, so she gets the nod over Picture of You, who has the best form of those with experience in this sphere. Marie's March, a stablemate of the selection, could also get involved.
Preference is for GARNACHO whose close second in a C&D maiden hurdle two weeks ago shows that he's going the right way

Pearle D'or |
(6) (4/1 +38%)4/1(+38%) | (6) Pearle D'or 4/1, C&D winner who wasn't disgraced at Newbury last time and has been freshened up since. Should make his presence felt if things drop right. Hasn't been running at all badly on ground too quick; dangerous at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) (10/1 +50%) Lord Bertie |
10/1(+50%) | (4) Lord Bertie 10/1, 12/1, last of 8 in handicap at Kempton (7f), going off too hard. Off 7 months. Makes very limited appeal in a race of this nature. Bit to prove now even in a classified race and after a lengthy break as well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (3/1 +40%) United Approach |
3/1(+40%) | (7) United Approach 3/1, Lightly-raced dual 6f winner on turf. First attempt at 7f when a good second of 11 in handicap at Newcastle 69 days ago, running on. His unexposed profile provides the hope for better again. Lightly raced 4yo with more to offer and softening ground would be a bonus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (5/4 +55%) Waleefy |
5/4(+55%) | (10) Waleefy 5/4, Progressive form, running out a comfortable winner back at 7f at Doncaster in August and shaping best when second at Newbury last time. Pedigree points to even better and he's the one to beat. An improving handicapper, running up to his best last time; excellent claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (6/1 +50%) Look Back Smiling |
6/1(+50%) | (3) Look Back Smiling 6/1, Successful on final start at Doncaster in October and picked up where he left off when taking 18-runner Spring Mile at that venue in March. Has posted a couple of good efforts since but latest one at York was rather lacklustre. Can break slowly but big shout on these terms granted preferred softish ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (18/1 -29%) Mustajaab |
18/1(-29%) | (5) Mustajaab 18/1, Made it 2-2 on the AW when scoring with plenty to spare on return/first run since being gelded at Southwell (7f) in April. However, while it's been a struggle back on turf in recent months and he's likely to find this too competitive. AW winner in April but mostly disappointing since on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (7/1 +30%) Dark Thirty |
7/1(+30%) | (2) Dark Thirty 7/1, Posted a career-best effort on back of 6 months off when landing 18-runner Rowley course handicap (6f) in April. Third back there next time but needs to shrug off lesser runs since. Started the season well but his form has dipped somewhat markedly of late. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Beaten less than a length in a competitive handicap at Newbury last time out, WALEEFY has been a progressive sort this season and he looks more than capable of landing a third career success in this classified contest. Placed on each of his last two starts over 6f, including here last month, Thunder Blue must enter calculations on the rise in distance, while the hat-trick-seeking Harvard Sound is another to note.
WALEEFY is unlikely to live up to his prestigious pedigree but he's been gradually getting better and he's fancied to add to his tally at the possible expense of Harvard Sound, who has made an excellent start to his career. United Approach is unlikely to have hit his ceiling, so he's another one to consider in an interesting contest.
There's no obvious reason why Baaeed's half-brother WALEEFY won't deal with rain-softened ground and he's progressed well in handicaps.

1st (2) (4/1 +27%) Persuasion |
4/1(+27%) | (2) Persuasion 4/1, Winless so far this year and remains 3 lb above the mark off which he registered his latest success at Thirsk last September. Conversely, he's been knocking on the door of late and form figures over this C&D read 1322, so there is certainly cause for optimism. Modest 3-38 strike-rate but went close in this last year and placed on last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (4/1 +43%) Yorkshire |
4/1(+43%) | (5) Yorkshire 4/1, Resumed with 7f Thirsk success before an excellent second of 13 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) in June. Below par since but it's fair to say that luck hasn't exactly been on his side and he's capable of playing a part granted a trouble-free passage. No impact the last twice but progressive earlier in the season and not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (17/2 +6%) Tropez Power |
17/2(+6%) | (6) Tropez Power 17/2, Followed 7f success at Southwell in April with a string of creditable efforts in defeat on turf, including when a close third over a mile here in June. Best to overlook latest run (hampered) and he has to enter calculations. Just 1-21 on turf but he's run some good races on grass this season; each-way possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (7/2 -5%) Mezzo Soprano |
7/2(-5%) | (7) Mezzo Soprano 7/2, Unbeaten in 3 starts last season and sound return to action when second of 6 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good) in June. Proved to be something of a let-down over 6f at Windsor since but she could easily get back on track now returned to what appears to be her optimum trip. Lightly raced 4yo who shaped at Windsor as though this return to 7f would be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (10/1 +17%) Flaccianello |
10/1(+17%) | (11) Flaccianello 10/1, Successful 3 times during a highly productive 2-y-o campaign and showed benefit of her reappearance run when good second at York (6f, good to soft) in June. However, she has failed to reproduce form akin to that upped to this trip the last twice. 7f is worth persisting with and things could click if she gets her preferred slow surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (12/1 -60%) Pumalin Park |
12/1(-60%) | (9) Pumalin Park 12/1, Won 7f Salisbury handicap in June and followed that with a good second at Kempton (1m). Failed to progress when fourth of 8 at Newmarket (7f, good) last time but that was a creditable effort nonetheless and he merits respect. Hasn't kicked on from June Salisbury win but may take sizeable step forward at some stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (16/1 -60%) Abduction |
16/1(-60%) | (8) Abduction 16/1, Signed off 2023 campaign on a winning note at Wolverhampton. More miss than hit so far this season but he was just behind Persuasion when third in the C&D handicap won by English Oak in May. Reproduction of that form would give him a fighting chance off this 5 lb lower mark. He's had a patchy campaign but is on a dangerous mark; no surprise if he features. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (22/1 -38%) Riot |
22/1(-38%) | (4) Riot 22/1, Notched second success of 2024 when arriving late on the scene at Doncaster in June. Didn't do much wrong in strong big-field handicaps at top tracks on next 2 starts before running no sort of a race in cheekpieces at Newcastle (1m) 15 days ago. Visor swiftly refitted. Two 7f wins this year and handicapped to be in the mix if back on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (12/1 +33%) The Turpinator |
12/1(+33%) | (3) The Turpinator 12/1, Better for reappearance when producing a career-best to run out a comfortable winner at Pontefract in June. Respectable sixth in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon (6f, good to firm) last time, shaping as though the return to this trip would be a good thing. Possibilities. Kept on over 6f at Ripon last time and holds each-way claims for in-form yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (18/1 -100%) Tanmawwy |
18/1(-100%) | (10) Tanmawwy 18/1, Shaped well when fourth here in July and, though not so good on his next 2 starts, this 6-y-o resumed winning ways at Epsom (7f, good) recently. This is more demanding under a penalty but he could emerge as a threat late on if they go a good clip. Exploited reduced mark at Epsom recently and may be able to build on that victory. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (22/1 -159%) Boardman |
22/1(-159%) | (1) Boardman 22/1, Has won over this C&D and posted one of this season's better efforts when narrowly outpointed back here last month. Below par both subsequent starts, though, and while he has slipped to a dangerous mark, others make more appeal on this occasion. Went close over C&D three starts ago but down the field at Newcastle and Chester since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Tanmawwy bounced back to form when scoring at Epsom recently and holds an obvious chance under his penalty, but the vote goes to THE TURPINATOR. Grant Tuer's seven-year-old wasn't disgraced in sixth in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon last month and has proven to be more effective over this distance in his career. He can capitalise on the drop in grade, while Persuasion and Pumalin Park are others to watch out for.
Cases can be made for the majority of these and the suggestion is PUMALIN PARK, who in fairness hasn't really progressed since landing a Salisbury handicap four starts back but there wasn't much wrong with his latest effort at Newmarket. Tropez Power's strike rate on turf is modest but he has gone close on several occasions this year and is second choice ahead of Persuasion and The Turpinator, while Abduction is also capable of a bold show.
The blinkers have worked well for THAPA VC and he is taken to add to his win at Doncaster in July. Tanmawwy is feared most.

2nd (9) (11/2 -57%) Red Scarlet |
11/2(-57%) | (9) Red Scarlet 11/2, Waldgeist filly who confirmed debut promise when finishing a good third of 18 in maiden at Leopardstown (7.1f, good) 15 days ago, keeping on. Respected with further progress in the offing. Eyecatching debut before 3rd amongst some of these at Leopardstown; pace angle drawn 2. |

13/2(-63%) | (1) Berto Ramirez 13/2, Sea The Moon gelding. Improved with each outing to date, second of 18 in maiden at Leopardstown (7.1f, good) 15 days ago, running on. Even longer trips promise to suit in due course but he's of firm interest nevertheless. Improving with each run and only narrowly denied in a Leopardstown maiden latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (12/1 -33%) Smoke Them Out |
12/1(-33%) | (12) Smoke Them Out 12/1, Lightly-raced colt. Progressed steadily in handful of starts to date, fourth of 9 in maiden at Bellewstown (5f, good to soft, 10/1) 10 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Improved a little with each run; only beaten 2l last week; needs further progress at 7f. |

Stable in good form. Newcomer to note. Stuck to her task okay in barrier trial last week; half-sister to 3 winners; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (7/1 -56%) Invincibletomorrow |
7/1(-56%) | (2) Invincibletomorrow 7/1, Thrice-raced gelding. Produced best effort yet when fourth of 18 in maiden (7/1) at Leopardstown (7.1f, good) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. One to consider. Step forward with Leopardstown 4th but needs progress to reverse form with Berto Ramirez. |

Dam unraced half-sister to useful 1½m-2m winner (stayed 2¼m) Elusive Dream. Arizona filly; didn't show much when last in Naas barrier trial back in May. |

11th (10) (33/1 +0%) Light Conductor |
33/1(+0%) | (10) Light Conductor 33/1, Foaled April 14. €8,500 foal, Coulsty colt. Half-brother to several winners, including 2-y-o 5f winner Country Rose and 2-y-o 5f/6f winner I Love Thisgame. Dam lightly-raced maiden. Coulsty colt; half-brother to four winning sprinters; likely best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (25/1 -79%) Amazing Maisie |
25/1(-79%) | (4) Amazing Maisie 25/1, Saxon Warrior filly who went backwards from debut when sixteenth of 18 in maiden at Leopardstown (7.1f, good, 8/1) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces replace blinkers now and too soon to write her off. Promise in fillies' maiden on debut; long way behind some of these last month; drawn wide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (5) (200/1 -203%) Corazon Blanco |
200/1(-203%) | (5) Corazon Blanco 200/1, Twice-raced filly. 100/1, last of 17 in maiden at the Curragh (6f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Can only be watched on what she has achieved to date. Shown very little at huge prices in two Curragh maidens so far. |

14th (3) (40/1 -100%) Siyaan |
40/1(-100%) | (3) Siyaan 40/1, Foaled March 24. 14,000 gns foal, £18,000 yearling, Siyouni colt. Half-brother to several winners, including smart 7.6f-1¼m winner Let's Go, useful winner up to 9f Global Spectrum. Faded late in barrier trial last week and pedigree suggests he might want further. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BERTO RAMIREZ pipped Red Scarlet to the runner-up berth at Leopardstown, with Invincibletomorrow hot on their heels. David Marnane's youngster didn't have the best of passages through the race so, although his superiority was only marginal, he is fancied to confirm it. The return to 7f will aid the cause of Saint Brandon, who was second over this trip at the Galway Festival. Smoke Them Out has to be respected, while State Of Joy is the most interesting of the newcomers.
RED SCARLET improved on her debut form and left the impression she can do better still when third in a Leopardstown maiden 2 weeks ago. She shades the vote, with Berto Ramirez, who finished one place ahead of the selection on that occasion rating the chief threat. Invincibletomorrow and Gangsta Man complete the shortlist.
BERTO RAMIREZ could be hard to beat having gone close in a Leopardstown maiden last time out

1st (8) (11/4 +45%) Finisk River |
11/4(+45%) | (8) Finisk River 11/4, Course winner who is in good form this summer, building on a Stratford third when narrowly denied over 2½m at Worcester last week. Bold show likely if coping with relatively quick turnaround. Runner-up over C&D last September and went close at Worcester nine days ago; chance. |

2nd (2) (13/2 +35%) Bucko's Boy |
13/2(+35%) | (2) Bucko's Boy 13/2, Made it 3 wins in 5 starts when striking on 23f Worcester reappearance in June. Creditable fourth at Uttoxeter on both outings since but will require a career best to win from this mark. Won at Worcester in June and fair fourth at Uttoxeter the next twice; could be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (4/1 -45%) Clararose |
4/1(-45%) | (9) Clararose 4/1, Improved over hurdles since tongue tied, opening her account at Warwick (21f) in May. Good runner-up efforts on 2 of her 3 starts since and should be winning again soon for top stable. Lightly raced 6yo who has been progressive over 2m3f-2m5f; there's stamina in her pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (6/1 -100%) Hardy Boy |
6/1(-100%) | (5) Hardy Boy 6/1, Attitude and jumping has often been questionable but he hasn't done much wrong returned to hurdles in recent months, finishing runner-up twice in July before going one better at Market Rasen (23f) 3 weeks ago. A 6 lb rise won't prevent another prominent showing if in similar form. Did it in good style at Market Rasen and he's respected despite this career-high mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (5/1 +38%) Halifax |
5/1(+38%) | (6) Halifax 5/1, Won a 3m Kempton handicap hurdle in May. Has remained in form since and was successful over C&D last September. Has to enter the reckoning. In good heart this season and the return to Bangor could eke out something extra. |

6th (3) (9/1 +10%) Watergrange Jack |
9/1(+10%) | (3) Watergrange Jack 9/1, Racked up a handicap hurdle hat-trick at the end of last summer. Has been in reasonable form over fences this summer and ought to be competitive back over the smaller obstacles. Completed hurdling hat-trick last September; fair fourth over fences last time; possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (33/1 +18%) Butler's Brief |
33/1(+18%) | (7) Butler's Brief 33/1, Won twice in 2023 but well below par in 3 outings this summer. Needs a change of headgear (first-time blinkers instead of cheekpieces) to help spark a revival. Continues to drop down the weights but major turnaround needed in new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (16/1 -113%) Chinx Of Light |
16/1(-113%) | (1) Chinx Of Light 16/1, Useful hurdler/chaser. 22/1, fell in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (3m, good to soft) in February, beaten when falling 3 out. Off since but he has gone well when fresh before. Irish raider; check the betting but he failed to shine during light campaign last season. |

|PU| (4) (25/1 -213%) Isthebaropen |
25/1(-213%) | (4) Isthebaropen 25/1, Dual winner in summer 2022 but hasn't been seen since reaching the frame twice at Stratford in August of last year. Has had wind surgery. Betting perhaps the best guide to expectations after an absence. 11yo who has been absent since last August but goes well fresh and is not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
HARDY BOY arrives in fine form having built on a couple of good efforts over 2m4f to score with plenty left in the tank over this longer trip at Market Rasen. The seven-year-old can shrug off a 7lb rise in his current frame of mind and go in again. A runner-up at Market Rasen in July, Clararose looks worth another try over this distance and is less exposed than Finisk River, who went close at Worcester last week.
CLARAROSE shaped well behind an improving sort at Market Rasen last time and is taken to resume winning ways. Finisk River will be a threat if over last week's Worcester exertions, while Hardy Boy has been on his best behaviour since returned to hurdles and a 6 lb rise for Worcester shouldn't prevent him having a say if in a similar mood.
The lightly raced 6yo CLARAROSE is progressive and her pedigree provides optimism she'll be suited by this step back up in trip.

1st (10) (7/1 -87%) Presenting Lad |
7/1(-87%) | (10) Presenting Lad 7/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this season. 9/2, career best when winning 6-runner novice chase at Tramore (15.6f, good) 22 days ago, travelling strongly. Switches from chase to hurdles. Not taken lightly. Three-time winner over hurdles and now 11lb well in over flights; should contend. |

2nd (7) (5/1 -33%) The Dasher Conway |
5/1(-33%) | (7) The Dasher Conway 5/1, 11/2, bit below form sixth of 14 in handicap chase at Killarney (20.8f, good to soft) 13 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Back down in trip. Has good chance on form. Well in over hurdles and has to be respected, even if this trip might be short of his best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (11/1 +21%) Old Bill Barley |
11/1(+21%) | (9) Old Bill Barley 11/1, Below form fourth of 14 in novice hurdle at Ballinrobe (17.3f, good, 28/1) 45 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Ran with credit after two years off in a Ballinrobe maiden hurdle last month; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (8/1 -113%) Baltinglass Hill |
8/1(-113%) | (12) Baltinglass Hill 8/1, Latest win in hurdle at Roscommon in June. 9/2, good second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Wexford (16.7f, good to soft) 28 days ago. Can get back to winning ways. Three hurdle wins at sharpish tracks, most recently Roscommon in June; two good runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (22/1 -57%) Drumgill |
22/1(-57%) | (2) Drumgill 22/1, 3 wins from 9 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Ballinrobe in August. Fifth of 7 in novice hurdle at Killarney (22.8f, soft, 22/1) 15 days ago. Back down in trip. Likely to be one of the pace angles in the race and could take pegging back if on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (40/1 -186%) Little Mixup |
40/1(-186%) | (1) Little Mixup 40/1, Latest win in hurdle at Thurles in January. Pulled up in handicap hurdle (25/1) at Fairyhouse (16f, heavy) 160 days ago. Others have achieved more. Soundly beaten in pair of good handicap hurdles in the spring; best watched after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (10/1 +0%) Influential Lady |
10/1(+0%) | (11) Influential Lady 10/1, 16/1, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Tramore (16.4f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Back down in trip. Respectable on last hurdle run. Others more persuasive. Consistent and should run her race but might find a couple too good in a competitive race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (4/1 +56%) Walhaan |
4/1(+56%) | (5) Walhaan 4/1, Good fourth of 12 in handicap (11/1) at Southwell (11.1f) 8 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Comes here in good form and should be capable of being competitive off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (9/1 -80%) Major Barry |
9/1(-80%) | (4) Major Barry 9/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Cork in August. Last of 7 in novice hurdle (7/2) at Killarney (22.8f, soft) 15 days ago. Type to bounce back quickly. Ran too bad to be true up to 2m7f at Killarney last time; should be more competitive here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (4/1 +20%) By Your Side |
4/1(+20%) | (3) By Your Side 4/1, 15/2, won 6-runner handicap at Tramore (12f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Fairly useful hurdler. Worthy of respect back in this discipline. Pace will be on here which will help him being delivered late and certainly respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (14/1 +30%) Striking |
14/1(+30%) | (6) Striking 14/1, 19½ lengths fifth of 11 to Presenting Lad in novice chase at Roscommon (16.5f, soft, 10/1) on debut over fences 31 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Behind Presenting Lad over fences last time; likely to do better back over flights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PRESENTING LAD has shown improved form over fences this year and reverts to hurdling, rated 11lb lower in this sphere. His recent chase form is consistent and progressive and while he hasn't raced over hurdles since August 2023, is a three-time hurdle winner and should compete from his rating. Old Bill Barley debuts in handicaps and should improve from a reappearance run in July. Despite being a previous course bumper winner, he has hung left on occasions in the past, including on his hurdling debut here, but nonetheless has ability, contested a useful Ballinrobe maiden last time out and today's rider claims 5lb. Baltinglass Hill has been running consistently well and is noted too.
BALTINGLASS HILL has been in top form lately and, after finding one too good at Wexford a month ago, he's worth a chance to resume winning ways at the possible expense of Presenting Lad, who returns to this sphere after a ready success over the larger obstacles. By Your Side is also respected.
Perhaps it is worth taking a chance with WALHAAN, who comes here in good form from the Flat and might just be good enough

1st (7) (7/2 +65%) Theoryofeverything |
7/2(+65%) | (7) Theoryofeverything 7/2, First success for new yard when edging ahead late on at Hamilton (9f, good) last month. Found combination of a penalty and step up in class too much at York and he's back on his correct mark this time. Chance largely depends on how the ground is riding; both wins on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (15/8 +25%) Awaal |
15/8(+25%) | (2) Awaal 15/8, Smart performer who was placed in the Lincoln, Royal Hunt Cup and Bunbury Cup last year. Shaped better than distance beaten on belated return at Newmarket in July and is 2 lb lower now. Major player returned to 1m. Placed in three major handicaps last year; seemed to need his 2024 reappearance run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (11/2 +0%) Bennetot |
11/2(+0%) | (5) Bennetot 11/2, Useful performer in France and has gradually worked his way back to form for this yard, coming good in 1m Windsor Racing League handicap under Billy Loughnane last month. Penalised in a much better race but ran a cracker when fifth at York, particularly as he was caught further back than ideal. Scored at Windsor then ran well in big field at the York Ebor festival; likely player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/1 +0%) Hafeet Alain |
10/1(+0%) | (3) Hafeet Alain 10/1, Productive 2023 campaign and underlined how well he handles Newmarket when landing 17-runner 1m handicap at the Craven meeting. Was seen to maximum effect on that occasion, though, and he's been off since a lesser effort back there 3 weeks later. Both starts this season came at Newmarket in the spring; won on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (12/1 -20%) Navagio |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Navagio 12/1, A useful 1m/9,5f winner in Ireland and excellent third in the Lincoln on reappearance. Not discredited when fifth of 9 in handicap at Sandown (8f, soft) in May but tongue tie back on when well held switched to the AW a month later. Best effort for current yard when third in soft-ground Lincoln; now 5lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (17/2 -89%) Classic |
17/2(-89%) | (9) Classic 17/2, Huge eye-catcher at Sandown in June and also shaped well on next 2 starts. Ridden more prominently when slightly disappointing at Newmarket but he can bounce back. Useful on his day; ran respectably in major handicap at Goodwood on penultimate start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (25/1 -150%) Inspiritus |
25/1(-150%) | (10) Inspiritus 25/1, Improved again when doubling his tally for the year in impressive fashion at Lingfield in March, tanking through the race. Well held back on turf at Chester in May bit given a break and fitted with a hood again, he showed a bit more at Windsor, albeit racing too free to last out. Best form remains on AW but this drop back in trip looks worth exploring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (28/1 -56%) Son Of Man |
28/1(-56%) | (8) Son Of Man 28/1, Useful performer who stepped up markedly on his reappearance when second of 8 over 7f at Goodwood in June. Step back up to 1m looked a good move but he was drawn on the wrong side in the Britannia over C&D on final start for Jane Chapple-Hyam. Not yet exposed. Bits of useful form over 7f for Jane Chapple-Hyam; sold 100,000gns since last run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (12/1 -71%) Tempus |
12/1(-71%) | (4) Tempus 12/1, Landed a hat-trick in 2022, starting in C&D handicap before Group 3 victories, and back in form in 1m handicaps of late, hitting the frame on last 3 starts. Doesn't look totally straightforward but he's entitled to be thereabouts again. Creditable fourth at this track the last twice; successful in this race in 2020. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
BENNETOT caught the eye when staying on from the rear to take fifth in a valuable York handicap that was dominated by those who raced prominently last time. A reproduction of that level of form would give the five-year-old a big chance here. Awaal was not disgraced when seventh in the Bunbury Cup on his return in July and he has to be of interest, while Dear My Friend and Tempus are others to note.
There's still an air of unfinished business about low-mileage 5-y-o AWAAL who shaped with plenty of promise on his reappearance (first home in his group) and as such, a 2 lb ease in the weights looks generous. Bennetot arrives in excellent heart so is second choice, ahead of Classic.
This is a return to slightly calmer waters for AWAAL (nap), who has been a regular in major handicaps. Classic is second choice.

1st (9) (15/2 -50%) Kindest Nation |
15/2(-50%) | (9) Kindest Nation 15/2, Southwell maiden winner who ran creditably when third of 8 in handicap (9/4) at Kempton (7f) 30 days ago, racing closer to the pace than the pair that beat her. Wears first-time visor. 0-6 in handicaps and not progressing, but she's not discounted off a reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (7/2 -17%) Kristal Klear |
7/2(-17%) | (12) Kristal Klear 7/2, Capitalised on a falling mark in 13-runner handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 10/3) 7 days ago, bit in hand. Escapes a penalty for that success so has excellent claims of following up. Escapes penalty for last week's breakthrough win at Southwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (40/1 -150%) Clasina |
40/1(-150%) | (8) Clasina 40/1, Thrice-raced maiden who ran below previous form on first run since leaving G. M. Lyons when sixth of 14 in a novice at Southwell (7.1f, 33/1) 19 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Improvement needed. Handicap debut; didn't show enough on stable debut to have compelling claims today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (25/1 -108%) Sparkling Red |
25/1(-108%) | (1) Sparkling Red 25/1, Posted a good second at Doncaster in July but below form since. Continues to drop down weights but has had disappointing campaign; unraced over 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (15/2 -36%) Noisy Music |
15/2(-36%) | (10) Noisy Music 15/2, Improved when making a winning handicap/stable debut at Windsor in June and mostly creditable efforts since without advancing her form any further. Some good 6f runs this summer; pedigree provides optimism she'll stay 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (11/1 +21%) Gentle Ellen |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Gentle Ellen 11/1, Consistent sort who produced a rare below-par effort when beating only one home in 13-runner handicap at Redcar 13 days ago. Type to bounce back quickly. Two good runs over C&D in July; could bounce back now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (11/2 +21%) Dazitoo |
11/2(+21%) | (3) Dazitoo 11/2, Fair form first 2 starts and unsuited by drop in trip when third in 7-runner maiden at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) last time. Will be suited by the step back up in trip on handicap debut, but her opening mark demands plenty more. Makes her handicap debut off a realistic mark and with her trainer in fine form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (9/2 +50%) No Nay Nicki |
9/2(+50%) | (2) No Nay Nicki 9/2, Produced one of her better efforts of the season when sixth of 17 in 7f handicap at York (good to firm) in July. Excuses at Pontefract last time (raced ride) and worthy of interest from a sliding mark. She's 8lb lower than for her last win last September but she's regressed this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (66/1 -371%) Ribble Radiant |
66/1(-371%) | (7) Ribble Radiant 66/1, Edging down the weights and took a small step back in the right direction when sixth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (8f, good to firm) 20 days ago, despite not being ideally placed. Needs to build on that now. 3yo who took step back in right direction at Doncaster, but needs another today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (12/1 +0%) Rapido Girl |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Rapido Girl 12/1, Didn't need to improve to get off the mark at Catterick in June. Ran to a similar level on handicap debut at Doncaster but found her run of good form coming to a halt at Musselburgh last time. Well beaten at Musselburgh latest but retains potential in view of h'cap debut previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (13/2 +28%) Alreet Cha |
13/2(+28%) | (5) Alreet Cha 13/2, Did all she could after 7 weeks off having undergone a breathing operation when fourth of 14 in a 7f handicap (12/1) at York (good to firm) in July. Seemed unsuited by the return to sprinting at Pontefract on most recent outing and remains of interest back up in trip. Below par last time and now 0-11, but case can be made on previous York fourth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (12/1 0%) Oscar's Sister |
12/1(0%) | (11) Oscar's Sister 12/1, C&D winner who ran below form when beating only 2 home in 11-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 17 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Hard to fancy on majority of form but seems to like it here so not a forlorn hope. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Kristal Klear capitalised on a career-low mark at Southwell last week and if she can transfer that form to turf, she could have a say. However, a chance can be taken on DAZITOO, who has shown a decent amount of ability in her three starts in maiden/novice company and now makes her handicap debut. The booking of Tom Marquand catches the eye and she gets the nod. Kindest Nation is another to consider in a first-time visor.
KRISTAL KLEAR escapes a penalty for her recent win at Southwell, so is the percentage call to follow up. Alreet Cha seemed unsuited by the return to sprinting on her most recent outing and is worthy of interest back up in trip, with No Nay Nicki another to consider.
Preference is for the 3yo handicap newcomer DAZITOO, who represents the bang-in-form Ed Walker. Kristal Klear is a danger.

1st (3) (3/1 -60%) The Marty Party |
3/1(-60%) | (3) The Marty Party 3/1, Down the field all 3 starts in maidens but much improved under change of tactics when second of 5 in nursery (9/4) at Killarney (8.1f, good to soft) 14 days ago, worn down near line. Big shout from 1 lb higher mark. Left maiden form behind when 9-4 2nd latest up at 1m and a 1lb rise is fair. |

2nd (9) (20/1 -67%) Midnight Stagger |
20/1(-67%) | (9) Midnight Stagger 20/1, Galileo Gold gelding. 40/1, tenth of 12 in nursery at the Curragh (6f, good to firm) 20 days ago. This rates a less demanding assignment. Best of 3 runs was 6l defeat over 1m; well held 40-1 shot on h'cap debut; up in trip. |

3rd (5) (12/1 -50%) Kitty Bear |
12/1(-50%) | (5) Kitty Bear 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 10 in maiden (25/1) at Roscommon (7.5f, heavy) 17 days ago, keeping on without being knocked about. Entitled to do better now handicapping and confidence behind her in the betting would look significant. 5l defeat on debut; hasn't progressed on heavy twice since but may get back on track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (12/1 -33%) Katie Ross |
12/1(-33%) | (8) Katie Ross 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 9/1 and hooded for 1st time, good fifth of 10 in nursery at Navan (5.8f, good to firm) 8 days ago. Step up in trip needs to unlock some progress. Minor promise in maidens; hasn't progressed since switch to h'caps; now tackles 7f. |

5th (7) (15/2 +38%) Buck Barrow |
15/2(+38%) | (7) Buck Barrow 15/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Ninth of 11 in maiden (125/1) at Leopardstown (8f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Improvement required on handicap debut. Hasn't shown much over a variety of trips so far but yard in-form and worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/4 +30%) Weegeebear |
7/4(+30%) | (4) Weegeebear 7/4, Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1 and blinkered for 1st time, creditable fourth of 12 in nursery at the Curragh (6f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Yard in good form. One to consider. Showed ability in maidens before 4th on h'cap debut; may not appreciate 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (16/1 -33%) Roaming Eyes |
16/1(-33%) | (1) Roaming Eyes 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable tenth of 17 in maiden (66/1) at the Curragh (6f, good to firm) 20 days ago, never better than midfield. Makes handicap debut. Tough ask in the Ballyhane before 9l defeat at Curragh; tough opening mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (22/1 +33%) Trufonic |
22/1(+33%) | (10) Trufonic 22/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 11 in maiden (150/1) at Listowel (6.3f, good). Off 96 days. Makes handicap debut. Big prices in 3 maidens but has shown ability and workable mark for h'cap bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (9/1 +36%) Amber Blossom |
9/1(+36%) | (6) Amber Blossom 9/1, Zoustar filly. 150/1, fared a little better than previously when ninth of 17 in maiden at Leopardstown (7f, good) 50 days ago, running green and merely passing beaten rivals. Switch to nurseries in her favour now. Not involved in maidens so far but showed a bit more last time; may do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (22/1 -10%) Altoir Na Greine |
22/1(-10%) | (12) Altoir Na Greine 22/1, Son of Far Above who finished well held in trio of maidens earlier this term, last of 8 in maiden at this course (5f, good, 200/1) 77 days ago. Gelded/up significantly in trip for nursery debut and the betting can guide. Blinkers also reached for. Hasn't shown much in 3 sprints so far; gelded with blinkers on stepping up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (28/1 +30%) Handmedownmybible |
28/1(+30%) | (13) Handmedownmybible 28/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Thirteenth of 16 in maiden at Gowran (7f, good, 200/1) 23 days ago, hampered. Makes handicap debut. Much more needed. Well held at big prices in three maidens so far and looks up against it on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
THE MARTY PARTY showed a big improvement when runner-up at Killarney on his nursery debut and Joseph O'Brien's Starspangledbanner colt looks capable of scoring off his current mark on that evidence. Weegeebear made his handicap debut with a better effort at the Curragh and this extra distance looks likely to suit, while Amber Blossom is the type to improve now handicapping and she shouldn't be underestimated. Katie Ross and Roaming Eyes could also go well.
This can go to THE MARTY PARTY, who showed much improved form switched to positive tactics when second on nursery debut at Killarney 2 weeks ago and the drop back down in trip won't inconvenience him on that evidence. Weegeebear and Kitty Bear are others to consider,
THE MARTY PARTY was well found in the market ahead of his h'cap debut last time when narrowly denied and he showed enough speed for 7f

1/1(+38%) | (1) Got Grey 1/1, First run since leaving Helen Nelmes when career best when winning 14-runner handicap hurdle at Stratford (16.3f, good, 6/5) 10 days ago, plenty in hand. Should have a lot more to offer for this stable and is fancied to defy a penalty. Won very cosily on recent stable debut and is 4lb ahead of the handicapper here. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (40/1 -233%) Ibiza Rocks |
40/1(-233%) | (5) Ibiza Rocks 40/1, odest nowadays on Flat and just minor promise so far over hurdles. Could up his game switched to handicaps, though, so worth a market check. Regressive on the Flat and yet to show anything more than minor promise over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (33/1 -175%) Lady Wormsley |
33/1(-175%) | (4) Lady Wormsley 33/1, Fair form when winning 2 handicaps on the Flat in 2023 (both at 1m). Below that level so far in this sphere but mark is potentially lenient now switched to handicaps. Third under positive ride in recent Worcester maiden; headgear refitted today. |

GOT GREY was sent off a short-priced favourite on his stable debut for Dan Skelton at Stratford recently and readily got the job done. He's 4lb well-in under a 7lb penalty and gets the vote to follow up. Footloose Man overcame jumping right throughout to score at Fontwell last week and warrants respect, for all he might not get away with similar antics today. Northern Rose, who has gone close on her last couple of hurdle starts, makes up the shortlist.
Last-time-out winners GOT GREY and Footloose Man are likely to dominate this, with marginal preference for the former, who is expected to improve a good deal further for Dan Skelton. The latter is unpenalised and should pose a formidable threat, while Motazzen isn't without hope.
Dan Skelton's GOT GREY (nap) had a significant amount left in the tank when winning on his recent stable debut and can follow up.

4/5(+12%) | (8) Pray Tell 4/5, Fairly useful hurdler. 10/1, bit below form tenth of 20 in handicap hurdle at Galway (22.5f, good to soft) 37 days ago. The one to beat on his placeD efforts prior to that. Likely to have some use made of him over this shorter trip and looks the one to beat. |

100/1(-100%) | (14) Little Lark 100/1, Sholokhov mare. Half-sister to bumper winner Itsalark and bumper winner/modest 2¾m hurdle winner Tullyglush. Stoutly bred newcomer and probably best watched.. |

Well beaten in a Wexford maiden hurdle on his stable debut and probably one for handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PRAY TELL was well beaten at the Galway festival in July but had previously shown better form and now contests an ordinary maiden. A point-to-point winner who clearly stays well, dropping in distance isn't ideal today but the form of his Wexford-placing in May reads well and he receives weight from the top five horses today, while his rider also claims 2lb. Next Week won a Killarney bumper in 2022 and while he was well held in his initial two hurdle runs, showed better form here last time and could well be suited by today's longer distance. Augusta George is a recent bumper winner but has been well beaten in two previous hurdle runs.
PRAY TELL was better than the result when mid-division in a Galway handicap last time and repeat of the form he showed when placed on his 4 starts prior to that should be good enough here. High City Roller has some fair form to his name and should figure prominently, while Qaasid's Flat ability suggests he should be up to making his presence felt on what is effectively his hurdle debut (unseated first on previous attempt).
Despite the drop back in trip, this looks a really good opportunity for PRAY TELL (nap) with some very solid staying maiden hurdle form

1st (8) (9/4 +65%) Granger Bay |
9/4(+65%) | (8) Granger Bay 9/4, Displayed promise in novice company and ran his best race yet despite again hanging left under pressure when second of 4 on handicap debut at Newmarket (7f, soft) 13 days ago (Love Billy Boy placed third). Remains early days and he could yet have more to offer. Placed in three of his four starts, good second latest; bred to do better still. |

2nd (3) (14/1 -27%) Love Billy Boy |
14/1(-27%) | (3) Love Billy Boy 14/1, Made a winning start on soft ground at Musselburgh at 2 yrs and doubled his tally under similar conditions when winning 13-runner handicap at Chester (7.6f) in June. However, needs to bounce back following a pair of lesser efforts at Yarmouth/Newmarket more recently. Blinkers back on. Soft-ground win at Chester in June; has failed to repeat that form in two runs since. |

3rd (2) (11/4 +21%) Pedro Valentino |
11/4(+21%) | (2) Pedro Valentino 11/4, Successful from the front at Haydock (7f) in June and progressed again subsequently, runner-up over C&D before going in again at Yarmouth (7f) 6 weeks ago. Uncomplicated sort who has to be of interest from revised mark. Record of 121 since wearing cheekpieces and the form has substance; warrants respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (4/1 +20%) Zainabb |
4/1(+20%) | (7) Zainabb 4/1, Capitalised on drop in class when off the mark at Catterick (7f, good to soft) in July and respectable effort when fourth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (7f) later that month. Each-way possibilities returned to turf from unchanged mark. Won at Catterick on sole turf attempt in 2024; may have more to offer back on grass. |

5th (5) (14/1 -56%) Jimmy Speaking |
14/1(-56%) | (5) Jimmy Speaking 14/1, Successful on return at Chelmsford (6f) in April and followed up over 6f here a month later. Dispelled a lesser effort back on AW when runner-up at Windsor (6f) in June and interesting he's been given a break ahead of this. Steps back up in trip. Raced mainly over 6f; won here in the spring but has something to prove back at 7f. |

6th (6) (17/2 +6%) Lessay |
17/2(+6%) | (6) Lessay 17/2, Winner on debut at Kempton (1m) in December and lines up here having largely run respectably whilst looking summed up by his mark in handicaps in recent months. Hood back on but he may have to settle for a minor role again here. Has failed to progress in the expected manner and is 0-7 since debut success. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (17/2 +6%) Smart Vision |
17/2(+6%) | (4) Smart Vision 17/2, Due Diligence gelding who comes here at the top of his game, making it 2 wins from his last 3 starts in 8-runner handicap at Thirsk (7f, good) 21 days ago. This looks tougher but he's not underestimated up 6 lb. Has form figures of 3141 since wearing cheekpieces, winning at Thirsk most recently. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A case can be made for all of these, but marginal preference is for PEDRO VALENTINO. Clive Cox's gelding has been successful in two of his last three starts and a 4lb rise for the most recent of those wins may still underestimate him. A drop in trip and application of first-time cheekpieces makes Usuario Amigo of interest, while Granger Bay edges out Love Billy Boy and Zainabb to be best of the rest.
PEDRO VALENTINO has gone from strength-to-strength since the cheekpieces were applied, making it 2 wins from his last 3 starts with a game display at Yarmouth 6 weeks ago. He earns the vote to defy the handicapper again and come out on top. Savvy Warrior at the foot of the weights is another of firm interest and he, along with Usuario Amigo, look the chief threats.
Judged on breeding there should be an even bigger effort in GRANGER BAY. Second choice is Pedro Valentino.

12th (13) (40/1 +0%) Udacha |
40/1(+0%) | (13) Udacha 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 21¼ lengths last of 8 to Runninsonofagun in maiden claimer (40/1) at Navan (8.1f, good) 8 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Poor form in maidens and last in a maiden claimer at Navan last week; tongue-tie on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A tricky puzzle to solve, with many hoping to improve for the switch to handicap company, but RUNNINSONOFAGUN shades the verdict. He won easier than the three-parts-of-a-length margin suggests in maiden claiming company over 1m at Navan and dropping back in trip shouldn't pose any problems, with similar front-running tactics likely to be adopted. Allenwood is 2lb lower than when placed on her handicap debut at Sligo and she warrants respect, while James The Second also holds claims.
The vote goes to RUNNINSONOFAGUN, who made all when opening his account in a maiden claimer at Navan last week and he looks capable of following up on this nursery debut off what is probably a fair mark. Allenwood and James The Second rate the main dangers but also look out for Sir Jeremy.
ALLENWOOD stayed on for third at Sligo on handicap debut last month and her pedigree offers hope for improvement at this new trip

7/2(+83%) | (1) Prolific Profile 7/2, Fetched £50,000 after finishing third on the second of 2 starts in Irish points but has yet to shine under Rules, most recently finishing out with the washing on his handicap debut at Huntingdon (20.7f, good to soft). Displayed promise in two of his three qualifying races but was well held on handicap debut. |

13/2(+54%) | (8) Tropical Talent 13/2, Successful over fences at Sedgefield in May but generally below par since and he was pulled up on his latest start in this sphere at Market Rasen last November. Has gone off the boil since narrow chase win in May; reverts to hurdling today. |

3rd (9) (20/1 +60%) Grifter |
20/1(+60%) | (9) Grifter 20/1, Regressive on the Flat and hasn't shown much in 4 previous starts over hurdles. Out of form on the Flat lately and his tendency to race too freely is another worry. |

4th (6) (16/5 -83%) Pillar Rock |
16/5(-83%) | (6) Pillar Rock 16/5, Low-key stuff in a bumper and a trio of novice hurdles to date but this half-brother to 3 winners represents a top yard and may well be seen in an altogether better light now handicapping. Watch the betting. Made low-key start to hurdle debut but this switch to good ground may enable improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (11/2 +15%) Cofficionado |
11/2(+15%) | (10) Cofficionado 11/2, On the back of a breathing operation he found only one too good on handicap debut at Market Rasen in May. Didn't get the rub of the green next time and recent fifth of 11 at Stratford (16.3f, good) was a pretty solid effort in the context of this race. Major player. Went close on handicap debut in May and also ran well at Stratford last week; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (33/1 -313%) Walk The Moon |
33/1(-313%) | (2) Walk The Moon 33/1, Little impact on the Flat but has the pedigree for jumping and shaped fairly well when third in a Wetherby juvenile last October. Well held both subsequent starts in this sphere but now moves into handicap company off a realistic-looking mark. Still unexposed over hurdles but recent Flat form does not inspire confidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (80/1 +20%) Last Mission |
80/1(+20%) | (7) Last Mission 80/1, Fair Flat winner but unproven beyond 8.5f and yet to show much of an aptitude for this game. Unseated rider when 125-1 for handicap debut in May; back from a break today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (7/1 -27%) Huit Reflets |
7/1(-27%) | (5) Huit Reflets 7/1, Looked exposed for Liz Doyle in Ireland but has done well for new yard on these shores, opening her account at Hexham (2m, good to soft) in June and placed on several occasions. Failed to fire at Cartmel recently but definite chance if able to get back on track here with cheekpieces refitted. Below form on soft ground last month but has generally done well for new yard this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (33/1 -230%) Miss Mink |
33/1(-230%) | (3) Miss Mink 33/1, Unplaced in pair of bumpers and while she showed ability when fifth of 10 in a mares' maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter in July, that effort is bookmarked by a couple of uninspiring performances. Needs to step up now pitched into a handicap. Ran quite well on second hurdling start; pulled up (raced too freely) last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (40/1 -21%) Vertical |
40/1(-21%) | (11) Vertical 40/1, Poor maiden on Flat and too headstrong in 3 starts in this sphere to date. Big step forward needed now that she steps into handicap company over hurdles. Not disgraced in two novice hurdles in July but improvement is needed on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (100/1 -100%) Strip Light |
100/1(-100%) | (12) Strip Light 100/1, Hasn't shown much spark in 4 starts back hurdling for new connections since last November. Sports cheekpieces for the first time over hurdles here. Always behind when a big-priced outsider for recent Stratford handicap hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (5/1 -82%) Cotoneaster |
5/1(-82%) | (4) Cotoneaster 5/1, No show in 3 qualifying runs for Noel Williams but left that form behind on handicap bow for new connections at Uttoxeter (15.8f, good to firm) where she found just one too good in a 10-runner contest. Will be a danger to all if able to build on that here. Ran big race in defeat on stable/handicap debut in July; must be considered here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
There didn't appear to be any fluke about COTONEASTER's 50/1 second on handicap debut at Uttoxeter and the winner of that race has franked the form by doubling up since. Ryan Potter's mare is just 1lb higher and looks like the one they all have to beat. Huit Reflets possibly didn't handle the undulations of Cartmel last time and it would come as no surprise to see him bounce back to form, while Tropical Talent switches from fences off a workable mark.
It's not hard to envisage PILLAR ROCK leaving his novice form well behind now that he ventures down the handicap route off a lowly opening mark. If the market suggests as much, the hint should be taken. Huit Reflets misfired for the first time since joining this yard at Cartmel the other day but it would be no surprise whatsoever were he to bounce back with a bold show. Others to consider include Cofficionado and Cotoneaster.
Second to a next-time-out winner on her stable debut in July, COTONEASTER might go one better off a 1lb higher mark here.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CRAIC EILE has won just twice from 55 career runs but reverts back up in distance which could bring about some improvement. Ideally suited by good ground, he ran well at Killarney recently, is able at this level and while well held on his previous attempt at this distance, that was at Listed level back in 2021 and he has run consistently well over middle-distances recently, suggesting he will stay the distance. Cafe Del Mar has won once from 19 runs and relishes stamina tests. She has raced just three times this year, with each of those runs being in August, and having run consistently well, is dependable. Sineads Fancy is 6lb higher than when winning at Downpatrick.
Gavin Cromwell's BROGUE MAN RIVER should be sharper for last week's Bellewstown reappearance and might prove the answer now stepping up to 3m for the first time. Craic Eile, Hill Rocket and Turkey And Ham head the dangers.
A good second over fences last week, CAFE DEL MAR can go one better here back hurdling

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
After being narrowly held by a subsequent winner over this trip on debut at Sandown, VECU didn't quite get home over 1m at Newmarket last month but that form has been boosted by the third winning a valuable contest since. The return to 7f should suit the selection on his all-weather bow and his stable won this race in 2021. Fitzmaurice is a 470,000gns full-brother to dual Group 2 winner Chindit, so he should be capable of better than what he showed when very green first time out at Newbury, while Brave Mission has displayed signs of promise in his two starts to date. Saeed bin Suroor has his string in fine form and a bold debut bid can be expected from Castle Gates, a half-brother to Oaks runner-up Dance Sequence.
VECU didn't make the expected leap forward from his debut when fourth at Newmarket 3 weeks ago but it was by no means a bad effort and he's in the right hands to progress. He looks the way to go, for all there is depth to this, with Brave Mission and Fitzmaurice open to progress in their own right.
Royal Lodge entry VECU is top on the figures and worth another chance. Brave Mission and Fitzmaurice look the biggest dangers.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Zoffanien has run well in defeat in competitive races the last twice and the seven-year-old is likely to be in the mix once again. That said, preference is for SCEPTRED ISLE, who arrives here on the back of victories at Tipperary and Leopardstown. A 5lb rise for the most recent of those wins may underestimate the daughter of Cityscape as she is clearly progressing. Others who make the shortlist are Wisdomofhindsight, Belgoprince and Astar.
Preference is for BARNACULLIA, who took a step back in the right direction when fifth at Bellewstown recently and, just 2 lb higher than for his Leopardstown success last summer, he's on a workable mark. Zoffanien has acquitted himself well in handicaps at Galway and Killarney since returned to this sphere and looks sure to be involved once more, while Belgoprince is also shortlisted.
This test might suit RAIN who ran well over 2m at the Curragh but was a fair fifth at Clonmel on Thursday; Zoffanien is next best

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EL CHAMPO has strong claims being an experienced type and possessing a chase rating of 120, in a race confined to horses rated 0-116 over hurdles. A progressive three-time hurdle winner last year, his recent chase form is good, ran a cracker to finish second at Listed level last month and today's rider now claims 7lb. Miss Gherkin also contested a smart Killarney handicap last month and now meets more experienced rivals on chase debut. She is an able 113-rated hurdler who notably receives her mares' 7lb allowance though, although both her wins have come over two miles. Debut point-to-point winner Marv Michael should know his job for his fences debut and recently won a lesser Tramore maiden hurdle.
EL CHAMPO is just about the form pick and arrives on the back of a solid showing at Killarney, so he's marginally preferred to Ceroc, with Marv Michael appealing as an interesting newcomer to chasing.
Recent Tramore hurdles winner MARV MICHAEL can make a successful start over fences

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A winner second time out at Windsor, AFENTIKO then chased home a smart-looking debutant over this C&D last month and sets a decent standard on his nursery bow. A mark of 83 seems fair and he is fancied to get back in the winner's enclosure, possibly at the main expense of Monomyth. Ollie Sangster's colt narrowly failed to defy a 5lb hike for his Doncaster success when runner-up at Southwell, but a further 4lb rise is a concern as he tackles an extra furlong here. Dual Beverley runner-up Footwork could prove best of the rest.
A tightly-knit nursery with MONOMYTH just about the most persuasive option having improved again back on the AW when second at Southwell 3 weeks ago. Afentiko heads the opposition.
Solid contender AFENTIKO (nap) gets the vote, ahead of fellow nursery debutants Footwork and War Howl.

11/2(+0%) | (1) French Company 11/2, Latest win at Sligo in August. 14/1, creditable third of 18 in handicap at the Curragh (10f, good) 13 days ago, never nearer. Ought to be thereabouts. Followed up Sligo claimer win with fine handicap third in higher grade at the Curragh. |

5th (6) (10/3 -105%) Explorers Way |
10/3(-105%) | (6) Explorers Way 10/3, C&D winner. 3 wins from 10 runs this year. Latest win here in June. Good third of 12 in handicap at Leopardstown (9f, good to firm, 15/2) 29 days ago. 5/1(-25%) | (2) Arch Enemy 5/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2023. Good second of 15 in handicap at Leopardstown (9f, good, 8/1) 15 days ago. Merits consideration. Running-on second over 1m1f at Leopardstown and looks a leading contender. |

33/1(+18%) | (3) Bringsty 33/1, 250/1, sixteenth of 22 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (16.8f, good) 90 days ago. Fair on the Flat so needs considering. Quiet in maiden hurdles for new yard this year; couple of wins over 1m1f last term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (14/1 -56%) Wajaaha |
14/1(-56%) | (8) Wajaaha 14/1, First run since leaving Anthony McCann when very good second of 14 in handicap hurdle at Galway (16.7f, soft, 50/1) 33 days ago. Possibilities. Hard to fancy on latest Flat efforts but was good second over hurdles at Galway last time. |

9th (10) (50/1 -100%) Marvellous Lady |
50/1(-100%) | (10) Marvellous Lady 50/1, 20/1, twelfth of 15 in handicap at Leopardstown (7.2f, good to soft) 85 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Must improve. Modest form since debut promise last year; taking a big step up in trip and hard to fancy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Arch Enemy filled the runner-up spot at Leopardstown on her latest outing and it would be no surprise to see her go close off 2lb higher. However, it may pay to side with AVATAR JET, who hit the line well to finish fourth over 7f at Leopardstown last time, shaping as if this step up in trip could bring out some improvement. French Company is another to consider.
EXPLORERS WAY is enjoying an excellent year and fancied to bag win number four on the back of his good recent Leopardstown third. In-form Arch Enemy is next on the list in her bid to end a long losing sequence, with Avatar Jet and Bright N Shine also in the picture.
A course and distance winner in June, EXPLORERS WAY (nap) has lost little caste in defeat since and can get back to winning ways

5th (4) (11/1 +45%) Everglow |
11/1(+45%) | (4) Everglow 11/1, Course winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 12/1, still in touch when brought down 5 out in handicap chase at Wexford (25.3f, good to soft) 30 days ago, going in snatches. Down in trip. Plenty to find on form. Brought down on return to chasing at Wexford; remains on what appears a high enough mark. |

5/1(-56%) | (5) Clifftop 5/1, 7/4, landed 7-runner novice chase at Tramore (21.8f, good) 22 days ago. One to consider now going into handicaps. Tramore maiden winner; won't want too much rain for handicap debut. |

|U| (9) (6/1 +57%) Kilashee |
6/1(+57%) | (9) Kilashee 6/1, 4 wins from 11 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Ballinrobe in July. 11/2, creditable third of 9 in handicap chase at Killarney (20.8f, soft) 15 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. 4lb wrong here but can't be ruled out, especially if getting a soft lead. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CLIFFTOP is very closely matched with Watch The Weather on Wexford form last month but did win subsequently at Tramore and has obvious claims. The selection is a Flat winner who frustratingly failed to score over hurdles but his recent chase form is stronger and is suited by today's conditions. Watch The Weather is similarly suited by conditions and while he narrowly failed in a recent Downpatrick beginners chase, should again compete today. General Clermont was well enough held when reverting to hurdles at Killarney recently but two of his three wins have come over fences and should run well, despite being 9lb higher than when winning at Wexford in early August.
CHARLIE LUCIANO looks to have got in lightly for his handicap chase bow so is fancied to bag a first success in this sphere. Course winner Sargent Lightfoot is feared most on the back of a good hurdling second here, with Kilashee and Clifftop also in the mix.
Course specialist SARGENT LIGHTFOOT gets the vote, ahead of Good As Hell and General Clermont

1st (1) (5/2 +9%) Amiloc |
5/2(+9%) | (1) Amiloc 5/2, Promising sort. Won 8-runner maiden (11/10) at this course (7f) on debut 25 days ago. Seemingly had a bit in hand on that occasion and while more will be needed under a penalty this time, he's clearly open to improvement. Justified favouritism in maiden here last month and looks sure to progress; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (2/1 -23%) Green Storm |
2/1(-23%) | (10) Green Storm 2/1, Twice-raced maiden. 17/2, second of 7 in novice at Haydock (7f, firm) on latest start in June. Stepping up to a mile will be no bad thing and while stall 13 isn't exactly ideal, he's a strong candidate otherwise. Placed in two races at Haydock and the form is very solid; bred to be as effective on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (9/2 +18%) Must Believe |
9/2(+18%) | (7) Must Believe 9/2, Twice-raced maiden. Second of 10 in novice at this C&D (66/1) 17 days ago. Likely to go one better before long, provided that he builds on that much-improved display. Went close over C&D last time, belying his 66-1 odds; likely player on that bare form. |

4th (3) (13/2 -8%) Bear Island |
13/2(-8%) | (3) Bear Island 13/2, Once-raced maiden. Fourth of 9 in maiden at this course (7f, 17/2) on debut 25 days ago, nearest finish. Will be wiser this time and stepping up to a mile looks a good move. Showed promise over 7f here last month, shaping as if he'll relish this extra furlong. |

5th (4) (12/1 -9%) Flying Fortress |
12/1(-9%) | (4) Flying Fortress 12/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 8 in novice at Newmarket (7f, good, 40/1) 21 days ago, never nearer. 80/1(-264%) | (8) Pine Cliffs 80/1, Twice-raced maiden. Third of 9 in novice at this C&D (66/1) 17 days ago. Another for whom handicaps may well prove a more happy hunting ground. Only a modest third over C&D last month; needs further improvement. |

250/1(-150%) | (11) Poke The Bear 250/1, Twice-raced maiden. 125/1, fifth of 9 in novice at this C&D 17 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Comfortably held in both runs, latest over C&D. |

125/1(-400%) | (13) Scheming 125/1, Once-raced maiden. 17/2, last of 9 in maiden at Lingfield (7f, firm) on debut 41 days ago. Will probably do better in time but others make more appeal on this occasion all the same. Always in last place in nine-runner maiden at Lingfield. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (33/1 -18%) Le Pelerin |
33/1(-18%) | (6) Le Pelerin 33/1, Foaled April 26. 32,000 gns yearling, Sottsass colt. Dam 7f winner. Yard's newcomers usually come on for a run. 32,000gns yearling; by Sottsass; stable is only 1-25 with 2yos this season. |

150/1(-200%) | (9) Celtic Diligence 150/1, Once-raced maiden. 100/1, sixth of 9 in novice at this C&D on debut 17 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Readily passed over. Shaped better than bare result in C&D contest last month. |

11/1(-57%) | (5) Hi Ya Mal 11/1, Foaled April 19. 35,000 gns yearling, New Bay colt. Half-brother to useful winner up to 1¼m Morning Poem. Dam, 1½m-1¾m winner who stayed 2½m, half-sister to smart 1m-1¼m winner Monturani. Lots to like on paper and needs a close look in the betting. 35,000gns yearling; New Bay half-brother to two winners; looks the pick of the newcomers. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Green Storm's two efforts over 7f at Haydock haven't been devoid of promise, while Must Believe built on his debut when touched off by the narrowest of margins over this C&D last month. However, the winner of that C&D event was a well-held fourth on debut behind AMILOC, who created a good impression in making a winning start over 7f here. Ralph Beckett's gelding is bred to appreciate this step up in distance and looks capable of stepping forward to defy his winners' penalty.
The one who appeals most is GREEN STORM, who stepped up on his debut effort when finishing a clear second to Seagulls Eleven in a 7f Haydock novice in June, form which was boosted when the winner subsequently found just one too good in Group 2 company. Amiloc made a winning start to his career here last month and is feared greatly, despite his penalty. Newcomer Hi Ya Mal is one to note in the betting, while Bear Island and Must Believe are also worth a second look.
Based on his very solid Haydock form, GREEN STORM has a particularly good chance at the weights. Amiloc is feared most.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
RED SECRET's drought stretches back more than four years, but his performances last month to take third at Tramore and Navan suggested that his turn could finally be near again. Colin Keane is an interesting booking for Honrado, who signed off his time with Michael Bell with a Ripon second and has a tongue-tie and blinkers fitted for his Irish debut. Enquire Within is fancied to run her usual honest race and was actually just ahead of the selection last time.
Lots with chances but ALBION PRINCESS is worth siding with to capitalise on a reduced mark having hinted at a revival when third at Dundalk last time. The handily-weighted Red Secret can also have a big say, while Figurehead and Enquire Within both need factoring into this open handicap too.
Not many of these arrive in good form and ENQUIRE WITHIN could be the one after a narrow defeat at Navan last week from 2lb lower

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ARTIC LANE brings a whopping piece of winter form to a Kilbeggan bumper and should prove difficult to beat, although the application of a first-time tongue-tie is a small concern. An easy point-to-point winner, he finished second in a smart Leopardstown festival bumper last Christmas and having finished 25 lengths, and more, clear of the well-beaten horses, all bar one of those have won races subsequently. Today's jockey also claims 5lb. Mrs Mc Go has a big race-fitness edge and has shown nice ability but is vulnerable to a more capable type. Warriors Wood ran well on point-to-point debut while reserves, maiden hurdle-placed Supreme Ruler and ex-point-to-pointer Persian Daughter would be notable runners.
ARTIC LANE holds the clear edge on form so is fancied to make light of his absence and get off the mark. Mrs Mc Go has the form to play a part and is next on the list ahead of Dansanttothetune who wasn't seen to best effect when fourth at Killarney last time out.
ARTIC LANE;'s Leopardstown second over this trip last Christmas is easily the standout piece of form here

1st (8) (15/8 +6%) She's A Warrior |
15/8(+6%) | (8) She's A Warrior 15/8, Promising individual. 10/3, third of 10 in novice at this C&D on debut 30 days ago, slowly away. Open to progress for her top yard and a bold show could be on the way. Caught the eye when third over C&D on debut and should improve for the run. |

2nd (9) (18/1 -80%) With Style |
18/1(-80%) | (9) With Style 18/1, Twice-raced filly. 7/1, last of 8 in maiden at Cork (8f, soft) when last seen 11 months ago. First run for yard after leaving Mrs J. Harrington and the market will likely be informative. Ability on turf last year but off for nearly 12 months; market to guide for new trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/2 +25%) Madame Sans Gene |
9/2(+25%) | (6) Madame Sans Gene 9/2, Promising sort. 18/1, fifth of 9 in maiden at Goodwood (9.9f, good to soft) 12 days ago. There was plenty of promise in her debut third at Lingfield back in April and she remains open to improvement. Promise on AW on debut but below that level on turf only run since; claims back on AW. |

4th (2) (28/1 -133%) Dark Lyric |
28/1(-133%) | (2) Dark Lyric 28/1, €160,000 yearling, Dark Angel filly. Sister to 7f winner Kingofhell and winner up to 7f Beelzebub. Dam, 5f winner (including at 2 yrs), half-sister to very smart 5f winner Winter Power. Interesting to see what the market has to say. Sister to two winners over 6f-7f; interesting to see how she goes in market on debut. |

5th (7) (7/1 -75%) Prevail |
7/1(-75%) | (7) Prevail 7/1, Promising sort. 14/1, fifth of 11 in maiden at Yarmouth (8f, good to soft) on debut 58 days ago, slowly away. Lots to like pedigree-wise and she will almost certainly improve for that run. Promise on debut at Yarmouth and entitled to improve for the experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (9/1 -38%) Jumeirah Sea |
9/1(-38%) | (5) Jumeirah Sea 9/1, Once-raced filly. Fifth of 9 in maiden (15/8) at Nottingham (8.3f, good) on debut 24 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Likely to improve. Showed ability on debut and should improve, especially if settling better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (40/1 -82%) Grovely Belle |
40/1(-82%) | (4) Grovely Belle 40/1, Once-raced filly. Fourth of 9 in novice (50/1) at this course (7f) on debut 23 days ago. Will need to leave that form well behind if she's to take this. Ability over 7f in race that's working out well on debut; interesting up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (200/1 -506%) Abbey Law |
200/1(-506%) | (1) Abbey Law 200/1, Royal Applause filly. Dam, ran once on Flat, fair hurdle winner. Entitled to come on for the run. Dam a 2m-2m4f hurdle winner and may find one or two too quick on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (9/1 -100%) First Kiss |
9/1(-100%) | (3) First Kiss 9/1, Once-raced filly. 8/1, third of 10 in novice at this course (7f) on sole 2-y-o start. In good hands to improve and she's very much one to consider. Off since November but did shape with promise at ordinary level on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
She's A Warrior caught the eye when staying on into third over C&D on her debut last month and must be respected with improvement likely, but it is JUMEIRAH SEA that gets the nod. Simon and Ed Crisford's filly was unable to justify favouritism at Nottingham recently, but that performance was not without promise and she could step forward now. 160,000-euro purchase Dark Lyric warrants a market check ahead of her racecourse bow.
While MADAME SANS GENE was beaten a fair way at Goodwood recently, she was entitled to need that following a five-month break and this filly is given another chance to confirm the abundant promise she showed on debut during the spring. She's A Warrior, Prevail and First Kiss (in order of preference) all shaped well on their respective debuts and are open to improvement for their leading yards. Jumeirah Sea is another who is likely to step on what she showed first time out.
A few to consider but this can go to PREVAIL, who showed promise on turf on debut and she should improve for the run

1st (3) (15/8 +63%) Incensed |
15/8(+63%) | (3) Incensed 15/8, Winner at Carlisle in July. Fifth of 8 in handicap (8/1) at Salisbury (12f, good to firm) 22 days ago. May yet have a bigger performance in her. Ran creditably when she reverted to front-running over 1m4f latest, but looks vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2/1 -23%) Machete Beach |
2/1(-23%) | (1) Machete Beach 2/1, Unbeaten in two starts to date. 7/4, won 5-runner novice at Windsor (10f, good to firm). Off 116 days. Makes handicap debut. Open to further progress and looks an obvious player. Won narrowly over 1m2f in steadily run races at Lingfield (AW) and Windsor in the spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/1 +8%) Screaming Eagle |
6/1(+8%) | (4) Screaming Eagle 6/1, 10/3, creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at Sandown (10f, good) 84 days ago. Up in trip. First run for yard after leaving Andrew Balding/gelded. Could yet do better. 0-6; first run since leaving A Balding for 42,000gns in July and gelded; 1m4f interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (11/4 -69%) Cambria Legend |
11/4(-69%) | (2) Cambria Legend 11/4, 2 wins from 6 runs this year. 9/4, career best when winning 6-runner handicap at Chester (12.3f, good to soft) 33 days ago. Makes most appeal. Took well to 1m4f when justifying favouritism in six-runner race at Chester; up 4lb. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Machete Beach made it two wins from two when on target at Windsor in May and, though respected, an opening mark of 84 doesn't appear to be a gift. With that in mind, preference is for the steadily progressive CAMBRIA LEGEND. A comfortable winner over the extended 1m4f at Chester last time out, he does not look overburdened by a 4lb rise and further success may await. Incensed heads the remainder.
CAMBRIA LEGEND and Machete Beach are both going the right way and might well dominate the finish, with marginal preference for the former, who was convincing at Chester last time. Incensed still has few miles on the clock, so a bigger performance from her can't be ruled out.
The chief question seems to be over how much potential is brought by MACHETE BEACH. He is preferred to Cambria Legend.

1st (5) (13/8 +46%) Outgun |
13/8(+46%) | (5) Outgun 13/8, 5/2, creditable second of 10 in C&D handicap 23 days ago, possibly unlucky not to win having been hampered approaching the final 1f. Considered. Plenty of minor honours include a close and arguably unlucky second over C&D last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (7/1 -17%) Sonnerie Power |
7/1(-17%) | (2) Sonnerie Power 7/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 6/1, creditable second of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (1½m, AW) 6 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Looks competitive on form. Back to some form when close up with a hood at Kempton and Lingfield on last two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/2 +65%) Roost |
7/2(+65%) | (4) Roost 7/2, 4/1, creditable third of 9 in handicap at Ffos Las (1¾m, soft) 31 days ago. Tongue strap back on. Not so good since last August's win but the returning tongue-tie might help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (17/2 +6%) Rogue Tornado |
17/2(+6%) | (3) Rogue Tornado 17/2, Respectable third to a couple of 3-y-os in handicap at Newmarket (1½m, good, 7/2) 27 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. 1m4f win in May; creditable next two starts but not so good on latest; first headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (15/2 -15%) Enochdhu |
15/2(-15%) | (1) Enochdhu 15/2, Course winner. Latest win at Bath in April. Creditable third of 10 in handicap (9/2) at Goodwood (1¾m, soft) 13 days ago. Shortlist material. Won here in 2022; turf win in April and ran creditably in three of his four races since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (12/1 +40%) Grigio |
12/1(+40%) | (8) Grigio 12/1, C&D winner. 80/1 and blinkered first time, eighth of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (1¼m, good) 49 days ago. Others more persuasive. Last three outings were on turf; player if straight back to form now he's returned to AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (9/1 -29%) Capstan |
9/1(-29%) | (6) Capstan 9/1, Completed an AW hat-trick between January and April, with the second leg coming here. Much depends on whether he's fully primed after 5 months off. Won on the Lingfield and Kempton AW in his three runs this January-April; off 149 days. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A number of these hold claims, but tonight could finally be the night that OUTGUN gets off the mark. Alan King's charge arrives following a number of solid efforts in defeat, including when a slightly unlucky second over C&D last time, and he makes plenty of appeal back on a mark of 71. Sonnerie Power was just a neck behind the selection in the aforementioned track-and-trip event and has gone close at Lingfield since. He and Capstan, who won his last three starts prior to a break, are the pair feared most.
It's possible to make a case for most here but the lightly-raced profile of THE GLEN ROVERS suggests he should have more to offer on the back of his Newcastle win so he gets the vote. Alan King's Outgun may have been a bit unlucky when runner-up over C&D last time and is feared most ahead of Enochdhu.
It looks pretty tight, with SONNERIE POWER preferred ahead of Outgun.

Tremblant |
(7) (3/1 +63%)3/1(+63%) | (7) Tremblant 3/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. Below form sixth of 12 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 10/1) 18 days ago. Edging down the weights but need to see more. Recorded sole win on AW; interesting off a reduced mark back in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (12/1 -20%) Powerdress |
12/1(-20%) | (1) Powerdress 12/1, 40/1, took a step back in right direction when fifth of 9 in handicap at Salisbury (7f, good) 82 days ago. Needs to build on that back from 12 weeks off. Shaped well at Salisbury when last seen; possibilities if building on that effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (8/1 +50%) Big R |
8/1(+50%) | (8) Big R 8/1, Dual C&D winner at the start of 2023 but has struggled in recent starts. Needs the refitting of cheekpieces to spark an upturn in his fortunes. Both wins over C&D, the more recent off this mark in March; fighting chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3/1 +81%) Soar Above |
3/1(+81%) | (3) Soar Above 3/1, Five-time C&D winner but 21 runs since last win in 2022 and not obviously ready to strike again. Would need to see market support to consider. Has a question mark over current form and losing run is mounting up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (9/1 -6%) Beyond Equal |
9/1(-6%) | (6) Beyond Equal 9/1, C&D winner. Twenty seven runs since last win in 2021. 15/2, sixth of 9 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Has gone close a few times this term; met traffic issues the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (3/1 +10%) Another Baar |
3/1(+10%) | (4) Another Baar 3/1, Latest win at Doncaster (6f) in August. Creditable third of 11 in handicap (7/2) at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Cheekpieces back on. Can go well. In good form on turf last month; ran creditably on sole AW attempt; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/1 -122%) Hiatus |
10/1(-122%) | (2) Hiatus 10/1, C&D winner. 7/2, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Chepstow (6f, heavy), driven out. Off 115 days. Merits consideration. Absent since his Chepstow win in May; that form has worked out well; not dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (8/1 -14%) Gherkin |
8/1(-14%) | (9) Gherkin 8/1, C&D winner. 5/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Chepstow (6f, good) 11 days ago. Consistent record at Kempton includes two wins (in 2021); enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (5/1 -25%) Fierce |
5/1(-25%) | (5) Fierce 5/1, Much improved when winning 10-runner handicap (4/1) at Lingfield (6f, AW) 15 days ago. Should remain competitive up 5 lb. Opened his AW account with a comfortable success at Lingfield last month; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Hiatus ticks plenty of boxes and must enter calculations, but he's if a little rusty on his first outing in 115 days, then ANOTHER BAAR could take full advantage. He has been in cracking form on the turf recently, backing up a class 5 win with two solid placed efforts in class 4 company, and it's encouraging that he finished a close-up third on his only previous all-weather outing. Fierce and Tremblant are others to keep an eye on.
ANOTHER BAAR arrives in good nick so it's worth taking a chance that he takes to a new surface. Hiatus will be a threat if ready to roll after 4 months off, while Fierce is respected as a last-time-out winner.
A chance is taken on TREMBLANT, who is still seeking a first British win but looks interesting off a very attractive mark back on AW.
Ths is the racecard key.
