1st (4) (12/1 +14%) Flavius Titus |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Flavius Titus 12/1, Modest gelding. Last of 10 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good to soft, 14/1) 32 days ago. Runner-up in a similar race to this on penultimate start at Ripon but others make more appeal on balance. Second at this level at Ripon in June; ground reportedly too soft latest; needs a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2.25/1 +18%) Chester Le Streak |
2.25/1(+18%) | (2) Chester Le Streak 2.25/1, Modest gelding. 15/2, respectable fourth of 12 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 37 days ago. Entitled to come on for that seasonal reappearance and he has a good chance at the weights. Fair chance on last season's best and last month's return should have sharpened him up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (22/1 -120%) Red Walls |
22/1(-120%) | (12) Red Walls 22/1, Modest gelding. Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 9/2, fifth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 17 days ago, hampered. 0-19 on turf. Five-time AW winner, all over 5f; unplaced in ten runs over 5.5f+. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (5/1 +17%) Somewhere Secret |
5/1(+17%) | (13) Somewhere Secret 5/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Fourth of 9 in handicap (9/1) at this course (5f, good to soft) 14 days ago. That was his best effort for a while and he's in with a shout on these terms. Not found his best for new yard but down into a 0-50 and last time was more promising. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (18/1 -29%) Red Bravo |
18/1(-29%) | (11) Red Bravo 18/1, Poor gelding. Two wins from 52 Flat runs. 33/1, bit below form fifth of 11 in handicap at Ffos Las (6f, heavy) 11 days ago. No more than an each-way squeak. Infrequent winner; dropping to 6f didn't help last time and others look safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (16) (22/1 +0%) Made Of Lir |
22/1(+0%) | (16) Made Of Lir 22/1, Modest filly. Latest win at Ripon in June. 25/1, ninth of 12 in minor event at Musselburgh (7.2f, good to soft) 7 days ago. Blinkers back on. Needs to bounce back. 6f win in June came at this level; return to sprinting in his favour; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (150/1 -50%) Fighting Chance |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Fighting Chance 150/1, 150/1, last of 11 in handicap at Catterick (6f, good) 3 days ago. Best to look elsewhere. Poor and exposed maiden who makes no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (16/1 +52%) Koropick |
16/1(+52%) | (6) Koropick 16/1, Poor gelding. C&D winner. Two wins from 49 Flat runs (latest success gained back in 2017). Respectable sixth of 10 in handicap (28/1) at Musselburgh (5f, good to soft) 7 days ago, hampered. Looks vulnerable on these terms. Veteran who remains opposable, even at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (20/1 +0%) Point Of Woods |
20/1(+0%) | (10) Point Of Woods 20/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 28/1, last of 12 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 37 days ago. Chance if rediscovering old form but not so much based on recent exploits. Two course wins; this year's form is poor but there have been flickers of promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (14/1 -17%) Highland Queen |
14/1(-17%) | (5) Highland Queen 14/1, Modest filly. Fifth of 8 in handicap at Redcar (6f, soft, 15/2) when last seen in April. Record stands at 0-12 and more needed if she's to get her head in front here. Quiet in the spring and her best turf efforts have come on faster ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (5/1 +58%) Cheese The One |
5/1(+58%) | (1) Cheese The One 5/1, Modest filly. C&D winner. 15/2, bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Beverley (7.4f, soft) 52 days ago, slowly away. Likely to find a few too good on these terms. Two wins last September, one of them over C&D; quiet for new yard in 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (8.5/1 +0%) Muatadel |
8.5/1(+0%) | (9) Muatadel 8.5/1, Modest gelding. Twenty-four runs since last win in 2021. Seventh of 8 in handicap (9/1) at Pontefract (5f, good to soft) 12 days ago, slowly away. Place possibilities. Form dipped last time but returning to 6f no problem and he's got e-w claims on 2023 best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (15) (20/1 -43%) Loveliest |
20/1(-43%) | (15) Loveliest 20/1, Modest filly. Tenth of 12 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good, 22/1) 34 days ago. Runner-up in a 5f handicap here in June, and a reproduction of that effort would put her firmly in the picture. Two placed efforts this summer but her form has dipped the last twice; risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (14) (28/1 -75%) Amazing Arthur |
28/1(-75%) | (14) Amazing Arthur 28/1, Poor gelding. 8/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, eleventh of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 31 days ago. Others preferred. Minor promise on fast ground this summer but headgear didn't help last time; vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (8) (33/1 -32%) Mokaman |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Mokaman 33/1, 12/1, last of 6 in handicap at Ayr (5f, heavy) 11 days ago. Readily passed over. Low-key seasonal return 11 days ago; stamina not assured but this is a drop in grade. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
John Wainwright has a couple of live contenders in the shape of Muatadel and KRAKEN FLORIDA, with the latter preferred now he tries a visor for the first time. The four-year-old will be having only his eighth start on turf and looks the type to raise his game now he drops back in trip at this level. Recent form suggests Somewhere Secret is another capable of going close, while Cheese The One enters calculations too.
CHESTER LE STREAK can be expected to come on for his belated seasonal reappearance spin over this C&D last month, and while he would have something to prove if the ground is on the slow side, his claims are otherwise pretty strong in a race of this nature. If able to reproduce form akin to her effort in a 5f handicap here in June Loveliest would be a threat, while Muatadel and Somewhere Secret are also worthy of consideration.
An unconvincing bunch. Chester Le Streak is feared but POINT OF WOODS might be worth chancing at the likely rewarding odds.

1st (4) (3.5/1 +30%) Simple Star |
3.5/1(+30%) | (4) Simple Star 3.5/1, Won on C&D reappearance in May and followed up at Hamilton. Better than the result when second of 6 over this C&D last time, not getting in the clear until it was too late. Should give another good account. Thrived during May (2-2); didn't get the breaks over C&D (good) seven weeks ago; chance.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/1 -40%) Freak Out |
7/1(-40%) | (3) Freak Out 7/1, Arrives on a hat-trick after a pair of 1¼m Beveley wins in recent months. Has yet to prove his stamina for this far but he still merits plenty of respect as an in-from sort. Prominent racer; seeks a hat-trick following successive Beverley wins (1m2f); stamina?. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (3.33/1 +52%) A La Francaise |
3.33/1(+52%) | (6) A La Francaise 3.33/1, Back to best when runner-up twice this summer and shaped as if still in form when 5½ lengths fifth of 10 to Gibside in handicap (5/1) at York (1½m, good to soft) 28 days ago. Another who can't be discounted. Near her peak recently, but has to reverse earlier form lines with Simple Star & Gibside.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (14/1 +0%) Smart Lass |
14/1(+0%) | (8) Smart Lass 14/1, Four-time C&D winner. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Hamilton (11f, good, 13/2) 22 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Need to see more. Musselburgh regular (six course wins); low key since finishing third over C&D in May.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (18/1 -50%) Can't Stop Now |
18/1(-50%) | (7) Can't Stop Now 18/1, Flat winner in last autumn. Also successful over hurdles at Musselburgh in March and he might have needed the outing after 4 months off when down the field on his return to the Flat at Hamilton (1m) 11 days ago. Flat (1m2f) and hurdles (2m) winner; always behind (over 1m) on recent return to action.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (3.5/1 +30%) Fairmac |
3.5/1(+30%) | (1) Fairmac 3.5/1, Capitalised on falling mark to land 14-runner C&D handicap (soft) in April. Has run no more than respectably since but is back to that winning mark again. C&D winner (good to soft; same mark) in April; less effective since, inc at 2m at Kempton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (5.5/1 -100%) Gibside |
5.5/1(-100%) | (2) Gibside 5.5/1, Pair of 1½m Ripon wins last summer and has improved again this term, scoring at Carlisle and York in recent months. Another good run when third back at York 13 days ago. Should go well again. In fine form; unable to justify favouritism at York (third) recently; still a major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (14/1 +0%) Tendentious |
14/1(+0%) | (5) Tendentious 14/1, Won over 2m at Doncaster last spring but more miss than hit since and ran poorly on 2m York reappearance 4 weeks ago. Down in trip. Others arrive with more pressing claims. Sole win came at Doncaster (2m) in April 2022; may strip fitter for recent York comeback.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Freak Out arrives having notched up a brace of Beverley successes, but, though respected, the step up in trip on this occasion will pose a different challenge. FAIRMAC might not have been the most consistent recently, but he was a winner over C&D from this mark in April and looks certain to benefit from a drop in class. Gibside continues to progress steadily and must enter calculations too.
Quite an interesting opener. FAIRMAC has returned to the mark from which he won a competitive Sky Bet Sunday Series handicap over C&D at the end of April and can bounce back to form. Gibside, Freak Out and Simple Star all arrive at the top of their game and are feared most in that order.
The recent York third GIBSIDE can make the most of a slight ease in grade to score again. Simple Star looks next best.

1st (6) (4.5/1 +0%) Mr Fayez |
4.5/1(+0%) | (6) Mr Fayez 4.5/1, Belatedly off the mark at Lingfield in June. 7/1, laboured effort when seventh of 12 in minor event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 23 days ago, merely closing up late. Won at Lingfield (AW) on his penultimate run and had an excuse last time; not ruled out. |

4.5/1(+31%) | (1) Under Curfew 4.5/1, Twenty six runs since last win in 2021. Eighth of 10 in handicap (12/1) at Bath (5.7f, good) 16 days ago, merely closing up late. 1 of 5 for this yard. On dangerous mark but well held last twice and he's now 0-26 since his last win in 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (10/1 -43%) Battle Point |
10/1(-43%) | (7) Battle Point 10/1, Winner at Lingfield in April. Won on AW in April but he's finished down the field in all four runs since; headgear off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

5/1(+38%) | (2) Alfred Cove 5/1, Sole win from 21 Flat runs came over C&D in May. 10/1, again ran below form when tenth of 11 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good) 16 days ago, blindfold removed late and slowly away. 33/1(-50%) | (9) Perfect Symphony 33/1, Latest win at Lingfield in April. Ran badly when sixth of 10 in minor event at this course (6f, good, 22/1) 38 days ago. Others more persuasive. Six-time AW winner but he's 1-36 on turf and was well held here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (100/1 -52%) Poppyequiano |
100/1(-52%) | (12) Poppyequiano 100/1, No show in 3 outings so far and tried sprinting for handicap debut. Unexposed filly but she needs a transformation switched to sprinting on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (16/1 +20%) Alya's Gold Award |
16/1(+20%) | (11) Alya's Gold Award 16/1, Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. 25/1, wasn't seen to best effect when tenth of 14 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good) 23 days ago, not clear run 2f out. Tongue strap on 1st time. Must improve. Inconsistent 17-race maiden who was well held at Bath latest; tongue-tie now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (8.5/1 +0%) Boom The Groom |
8.5/1(+0%) | (3) Boom The Groom 8.5/1, Course winner. 50/1, shaped as if needing the run after 5 months off when last of 10 in handicap at Bath (5.7f, good) 16 days ago. Has good chance on pick of form. Old-timer who has poor strike-rate in recent years and was last of ten at Bath last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This could go the way of THANK THE LORD, who finished a fair fourth over this distance at Salisbury last month. He remains rated 3lb above his last winning mark, which came at Bath on his penultimate outing, but Harry Davies knocks 3lb off the gelding's back with his claim and he looks a leading player based on that. Notre Maison reverts to handicapping following a decent third over C&D most recently and is feared ahead of Under Curfew.
Tony Carroll saddles 5 and his veteran BOOM THE GROOM is selected to come out on top having shaped as if the run was needed at Bath just over a fortnight ago. The main threat could be Thank The Lord, who arrives in form and has the services of a good-value claimer on board. Notre Mission and Battle Point are just another couple to consider.
Most of these come with risks attached but NOTRE MAISON has done really well in cheekpieces this summer and she gets the vote.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (8/1 -78%) Reflexion Faite |
8/1(-78%) | (5) Reflexion Faite 8/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Second of 5 in maiden (25/1) at Sandown (5f, good) 16 days ago, no match for winner. Could improve further, so worth considering. Marked step forward when back to 5f at Sandown (second); the pick for K. Philippart De Foy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/1 +22%) Heritage House |
7/1(+22%) | (4) Heritage House 7/1, Twice-raced maiden. Seventh of 12 in minor event (11/2) at Windsor (6f, good) 18 days ago. More required. Ran to a similar level in both starts (Yarmouth, 5f & Windsor, 6f); probably needs more.. |

5th (6) (9/1 +55%) Newport Bay |
9/1(+55%) | (6) Newport Bay 9/1, Once-raced maiden. 17/2, sixth of 12 in maiden at Catterick (5f, good to firm) on debut 30 days ago. Could benefit from that initial experience. Raced keenly and predictably weakened when sixth of 12 on Catterick debut (5f; 17-2).. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ROCKET MONEY appears to be improving with each outing and, having scored tenaciously at Beverley last month, there should be more to come from the Karl Burke-trained filly. Additionally, she has previous course experience and sticking to 5f looks to be a good move. Very Blue Moon and Toosha are others to note in the betting, with the former feared most on the evidence of her latest Beverley third.
ROCKET MONEY upped her game to score at the third attempt at Beverley last month and this isn't a strong race on paper, so she's worth a chance to defy the penalty. Newcomer Eyes Closed represents a shrewd stable and would merit plenty of respect if the market spoke in her favour, while Reflexion Fait can't be dismissed on the back of an improved showing.
The form pick is the penalised Beverley scorer ROCKET MONEY, who can hopefully overcome a potentially less favourable draw in stall 5.

3/1(-71%) | (2) Majestic Beauty 3/1, Havana Grey filly. 8/11, won 4-runner maiden at Catterick (5f, good) on debut 88 days ago, well on top finish. Difficult to oppose with improvement likely. Clearcut winner of four-runner Catterick maiden on debut; impossible to rule out here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3.5/1 +65%) Cover Point |
3.5/1(+65%) | (3) Cover Point 3.5/1, Soldier's Call colt. 4/1, speedily bred sort finished only tenth of 13 in maiden at Yarmouth (6f, good) on debut 36 days ago under hands-and-heels ride. Open to improvement. Disappointing favourite on debut but with a top stable and ought to be capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (2.75/1 +61%) Good Point |
2.75/1(+61%) | (4) Good Point 2.75/1, Blue Point colt. 33/1, second of 12 in maiden at Beverley (5f, good) 34 days ago, running on. Likely to be involved again. Left poor debut behind when close second in Beverley maiden last month; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (5/1 -43%) Sankari |
5/1(-43%) | (1) Sankari 5/1, Ribchester colt. 2 wins from 5 runs this year. 10/3, improved when winning 8-runner minor event at Hamilton (5f, good to firm) 51 days ago, readily. Likely to give another good account. Useful form when winning quite cosily at Hamilton in June; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (6/1 -71%) Nariko |
6/1(-71%) | (9) Nariko 6/1, Night of Thunder filly. Costly Breeze-Up purchase failed to meet expectations when only fourth of 5 in minor event at Newcastle (5f) on debut 51 days ago. Worth another chance. 600,000gns 2yo; only fourth of five when warm favourite for debut but can improve. |

6th (5) (10/1 +17%) Mutasawi |
10/1(+17%) | (5) Mutasawi 10/1, Magna Grecia colt. Bumped into promising debutant when second of 7 in maiden at Ripon (5f, good to soft, 2/1) 20 days ago. Respected. Second over 5f on two of his three starts; won't be far away if he runs his race here. |

7th (7) (100/1 -100%) Shatin Venture |
100/1(-100%) | (7) Shatin Venture 100/1, Foaled April 26. €14,000 yearling, Profitable colt. Half-brother to 2 winners by Belardo, including 1¼m winner Crazy Maisie. Yard not associated with debut winners. Out of a US 5.5f 2yo winner; seems unlikely to meet the required standard on debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Both Majestic Beauty and Sankari appeal as likely candidates under their respective penalties, but a chance is taken on GOOD POINT. Bryan Smart's charge pushed Queen Mary-seventh Lady Pink Rose all the way at Beverley last month, when giving 5lb away, and any further improvement can see the son of Blue Point shed his maiden tag. Cover Point failed to live up to market expectations on his debut, but William Haggas' colt ought to take a step forward with that run under the belt.
MAJESTIC BEAUTY was strong in the betting and well on top at the line when making a successful debut at Catterick in May and should have even more to offer despite a 12-week absence. Good Point produced an effort much more in keeping with his pedigree when second at Beverley last time and can go well again, with two-time winner Sankari and Mutasawi others to consider.
The answer to this interesting novice might be SANKARI, who won quite stylishly at Hamilton last time.

(7) (80/1 -60%)80/1(-60%) | (7) Whitesocksnsandals 80/1, Foaled February 22. 3,500 gns yearling, Postponed filly. Sister to useful 1¼m-14.4f winner Soul Stopper and closely related to several winners, including smart winner up to 7f Perfect Tribute. Dam unraced. This looks a tough enough starting point and is probably best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Only narrowly denied over an extended 5f at Bath earlier this month, first-time cheekpieces could make all the difference for KANDOO and she is fancied to break her maiden now stepping fractionally up in trip. Archie Watson's progressive inmate likely has much more to offer and she can get the better of Sparklight, who has filled the runner-up spot on both career starts. Nelson Rose is another to bear in mind.
On her first start for this yard, KANDOO went as close as she ever has when runner-up at Bath last week and, with first-time headgear applied, Archie Watson's filly gets the verdict to go a place better. Nelson Rose did too much too soon at Catterick last month, so she's put forward as the main danger back down in trip, with the returning Sparklight rounding off the shortlist.
Top of the list is KANDOO, who went close on her stable debut at Bath last week and sets the standard on that form.

(4) (12/1 -167%)12/1(-167%) | (4) Kaaress 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 80/1, second of 7 in maiden at Newcastle (7.1f) 43 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Merits consideration. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
KAARESS was far from disgraced in the valuable Rous Selling Stakes at York in June, and arguably bettered that effort with a close second in a maiden at Newcastle last time. The Ollie Pears-trained filly seems to be going the right way and she is fancied to get off the mark at the fourth time of asking. Beverley nursery winner On Borrowed Time is feared most, while Amayretto may be the pick of Tim Easterby's pair.
OCEANIC WONDER was pegged back by On Borrowed Time at Beverley last time but the former went off harder than ideal and is on better terms with her old rival, so she's taken to reverse the form in a race that the pair may dominate. Kaaress arrives on the back of an improved showing, so she's also respected.
Ollie Pears has enjoyed a fantastic season with his juveniles, so his hardy Beverley scorer ON BORROWED TIME receives the vote.

In a wide-open contest, only a tentative vote can go to TAFSIR. Having won over an extended 1m4f here three starts ago, she went on to repeat the dose at Hamilton later that monthand was a shade unfortunate not to have landed the hat-trick when denied a clear run at Newcastle last week. Jim Goldie's unexposed stayer could have more in the locker back on turf, while Glasses Up appeals as her chief danger under a 4lb penalty. Others to note include Idilico, Myboymax and Marbuzet.
TAFSIR failed to land the hat-trick at Newcastle last time but lost little in defeat and Jim Goldie's thriving filly makes most appeal again. Marbuzet has proved a model of consistency without winning this season and should provide the selection with plenty to think about again, whilst Glasses Up is also respected under a penalty for Monday's Ayr win.
Jim Goldie's filly TAFSIR (nap) might have been unlucky not to complete a hat-trick eight days ago and is 2lb well in here.

PATERNOSTER SQUARE switches to handicapping following a fair third over this distance at Windsor last month. He retains the mark from his penultimate run, which saw him finish a staying-on second over 1m at Pontefract, and the three-year-old can progress further with that in mind. Sun Festival can give him plenty to think about following a creditable third at Yarmouth most recently, while Emma Emilleen is another to consider on her handicap debut.
Preference is for PATERNOSTER SQUARE, who was beaten by a couple of useful prospects at Windsor last time and returns to handicapping off a workable mark. Emma Emilleen and Sun Festival can also make their presence felt.
George Boughey's 3yo GALLIMIMUS has form figures of 11212 over this trip on turf and he gets the vote on his drop back to 1m2f.

ANGEL FROM ABOVE got the better of a subsequent winner at Carlisle last time out and the daughter of Galileo Gold is fancied to repeat the dose, with possible improvement on the cards back over further. Mother Mary and Nibras Angel must also saddle penalties for their recent successes and are considered along with Initio, who shaped with promise on his Musselburgh debut last month.
NIBRAS ANGEL, who holds an entry in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket in October, made a winning start in taking fashion at Lingfield so looks up to defying a penalty. Mother Mary had her rivals stretched out in behind when winning a novice at Salisbury so rates the main threat, while Sovereign King is one to note from a yard that has a good record with 3-y-o newcomers.
This may rest between the three penalised runners and MOTHER MARY is preferred to Nibras Angel.

That was a Class 2 event and he's capable of bouncing back at this lower level. Struggled at York last time but has good claims if judged on earlier form. |

Ahamoment |
(10) (22/1 -38%)22/1(-38%) | (10) Ahamoment 22/1, Won over C&D and at Ayr in June but thrown in a couple of disappointing efforts since. Bounce back is needed. Won twice from the front in June but form dipped last month; career best needed today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Tim Easterby has trained two of the three winners of this race and he relies on last year's scorer Manigordo, who races off 9lb higher. He clearly goes well at the track, but at these weights preference is for YAASER, who was given a perfect ride to get up late over C&D last month and only has 3lb more from the handicapper. He may follow up with Paul Mulrennan keeping the ride, though Bicep has won all three starts here and is pretty difficult to overlook.
JUDGMENT CALL has a fairly solid record this year and is taken to turn around last month's C&D form with Yaaser, who is also likely to go well again. Bicep hasn't fired on his last 2 outings but can't be left out of the reckoning at a venue where he has a 3-3 record.
Preference is for CARNIVAL ZAIN, who enjoyed a very productive 2022, is back on a good mark now and drops in grade today.

Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Best form has been on AW but he didn't shine in that sphere last time; others preferred. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
COUNT OTTO can do little wrong at present and the hat-trick could be on the cards for the son of Sir Prancealot. A 3lb rise for his most recent success at Windsor appears manageable and he is preferred to the likes of Secret Moment and Razzam, who made a winning start for new trainer Michael Appleby over 5f at Yarmouth on Wednesday but carries a 6lb penalty as a result . Aira Force and Captain Cuddles are also capable of being in the shake-up.
HOLBACHE looks sure to come on from last month's encouraging York return and gets the nod in what looks a competitive contest. Count Otto and Razzam head the list of dangers.
Plenty have possibilities but the vote goes to the resurgent hat-trick seeker COUNT OTTO (nap). Antiphon is feared most.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LE BEAU GARCON has yet to add to his two juvenile victories, but the signs have been much more encouraging for the son of Brazen Beau recently. Only narrowly denied over C&D six days ago when fitted with a visor for the first time, he is able to compete from an unchanged mark and must hold every chance of going one better today. May Blossom merits the utmost respect as she bids to supplement last month's quick-fire double, while Nelson Gay, Sparkling Red and Majeski Man round off the shortlist in what looks a wide-open sprint.
It's been a while since LE BEAU GARCON last got his head in front but he failed by a whisker over this C&D in a first-time visor (retained) recently and, turned out again quickly before his new mark kicks in (due to go up 3 lb), he gets the nod. There are several likely dangers, headed by Blind Beggar and Irish-import Secret Road, while the hat-trick seeking May Blossom, Saaheq and Sugar Baby are others that could take a hand in the finish.
Le Beau Garcon is well in and should go close but SUGAR BABY (nap), 2-3 over C&D, is still improving and gets the nod.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
PATONTHEBACK put in a career-best effort to win by four lengths at Newcastle earlier in the month and although he has a 5lb penalty for that success, he is due to go up 7lb for future contests. There is a concern that the five-year-old is yet to win on turf, but he has placed numerous times, suggesting no issues with the surface. Monhammer won this last year and commands respect following a recent C&D victory, leaving End Zone and Nefyn Dawn to follow them home.
PATONTHEBACK won back to back at the end of 2021 and might be able to repeat the feat as he looks well treated under a 5 lb penalty for last week's comfortable Newcastle success. Last year's winner Monhammer is feared most ahead of John Quinn's lightly-raced 4-y-o Nefyn Dawn.
After hinting at a possible return to form over 6f a fortnight ago, RICH WATERS is sure to be suited by today's extra furlong.

Rodborough |
(5) (28/1 -133%)28/1(-133%) | (5) Rodborough 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 9 in handicap at Beverley (5f, soft, 16/1) 18 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Must improve. Two handicap runs at Beverley have offered hope of better; 6f should suit. |

Storminghull |

First run for yard after leaving David Brown. Likely to need it. Unplaced all 6 starts but has hinted at ability; off since Jan; no headgear; stable debut. |

Stella Blue |

Desert Illusion |
(7) (80/1 -100%)80/1(-100%) | (7) Desert Illusion 80/1, 12/1, last of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, good to firm) 41 days ago. Bit to prove at present. Chance on this season's best but quiet in a visor the last twice; no headgear today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Spirit In My Soul got up in the final strides over this trip at Redcar in June and although upped 3lb for that victory, her jockey's 5lb claim negates that rise and she could go well again. Ohnojoe gets a further 3lb drop in the ratings despite some reasonable efforts over shorter and he may surprise a few with the return to six furlongs a bonus, but HEADABOVETHEREST may be the one to be on. Only beaten three-quarters of a length at Newcastle despite being hampered at the start, he may have won with a clean start and could go one better now.
HEADABOVETHEREST improved and fared best of those held up when second at Newcastle 8 days ago so, if the pace is solid, he's capable of going one better at the likely expense of the in-form Moulin Booj. Howyadoin, a former stablemate of the selection, is also of interest.
Lady Roamer could do better back sprinting but SPIRIT IN MY SOUL can maintain her unbeaten record for her new yard.

Cheekpieces on 1st time. Bit more exposed than most here but would hold sound frame claims if putting best foot forward. Seven race maiden with solid form; below-par on handicap debut latest; soft ground a worry. |

Shaped better than the distances beaten suggests when sixth of 18 in maiden at Navan (5f, soft, 16/1) 90 days ago, faring easily best of those racing stand side. Not discounted. Ran well when sixth at Navan, doing best of those who raced stand side; not one to dismiss. |

Danvers Gold |
(11) (6/1 -50%)6/1(-50%) | (11) Danvers Gold 6/1, Good second at the Curragh on sole start at 2 yrs but hasn't come close to matching that form this season, again underwhelming when fourth of 10 in maiden at Leopardstown (6.5f, good to soft, 7/4) 22 days ago. Down in trip. Not gone on since promising 2yo effort; too free over 6.5f latest; this trip could suit. |

First run for yard after leaving C. W. J. Farrell. More needed. Didn't show a great deal on debut; drops markedly in trip after a break for new handler. |

Zaragoza |
(6) (40/1 -150%)40/1(-150%) | (6) Zaragoza 40/1, Once-raced colt. Fourteenth of 18 in maiden at Navan (5f, soft, 14/1) on debut 90 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Pedigree an ongoing recommendation and he's in excellent hands so this should reveal more. Never landed a blow on debut at Navan when poorly drawn; likely to be sharper this time. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
DOUBLE JABBED clearly sets the standard in this moderate contest, although enthusiasm is tempered somewhat by his low draw. High numbers tend to be favoured on this track when the ground is riding soft but nonetheless the David Marnane-trained gelding looks sure to be involved. Runner-up on his last two starts, the MRC International owned runner is good enough to win his maiden. Never Shout Never ran green when behind the Marnane gelding at Cork last time but looks a real threat if handling the softer ground. Well drawn, the Fozzy Stack-trained son of No Nay Never will also appreciate dropping back in trip. Lady Fox was first passed the post on her racecourse debut at Navan before subsequently being demoted. Connections will be hoping for quick compensation with a filly who will have no issues with underfoot conditions.
LADY FOX was only denied a debut win by the stewards, and with improvement likely to come, she's fancied to take plenty of beating on her second racecourse appearance. Double Jabbed has found one too good on his last 2 starts and looks set to fill the same spot again, whilst Never Shout Never took a step forward last time and could have more still to offer.
The drop down to the minimum trip could work the oracle for DANVERS GOLD after she appeared too free at Leopardstown last time

Fool's Gold boasts an appealing pedigree and certainly warrants a second look on his racecourse bow. A half-brother to the Prix de l'Abbaye winner The Platinum Queen, he should not be underestimated. However, QIRAT is out of a Group 1 winner and a half-brother to the Classic-placed Bluestocking. The son of Showcasing could be worth siding with on his debut. Habrdi is another to consider following a fair run for fifth over C&D last month.
HABRDI was only fifth when all the rage in the betting on debut over C&D 2 weeks ago, but he still showed promise and can put that experience to good use. There are some interesting newcomers on show, notably Champagne Stakes entry Fool's Gold, who is a half-brother to one of last season's leading 2-y-os The Platinum Queen, and Qirat, who is a half-brother to connections' Irish Oaks runner-up Bluestocking.
Although HABRDI was unable to justify his short price here on debut he should be capable of better with that run under his belt.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Chinese Spirit is the only C&D winner in this field having taken this race last year, but he hasn't won in 15 races since and may have to settle for yet another place. FIFTY SENT was supported before running on into second at Ayr last month. The extra furlong should see him in a better light, and he may be able to come out on top for the second time, while Makalu won off this mark in May and is clearly more than capable of getting involved.
FIFTY SENT shaped well when running on to take second late in the day over 1m at Ayr last Monday and can go one better back over a slightly longer trip. Irv pushed a next-time-out winner close off this mark at Nottingham last month and is second choice ahead of Tim Easterby's War Defender.
Top of the list is FIFTY SENT, who has been very consistent this year and was second to a next-time-out winner at Ayr just 11 days ago.

(4) (125/1 -279%)125/1(-279%) | (4) Back O' The Net 125/1, Little form on Flat/over hurdles. In poor form on the Flat of late and struggled over jumps back in 2020. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
RIVER TARA is one to take seriously on hurdling debut. She built upon a close second in a Kilbeggan bumper to land a Downpatrick bumper by an emphatic eight lengths, and ought to give connections plenty of fun over hurdles. Duleek Street has two runner-up berths in Downpatrick maiden hurdles to call upon and should be heavily involved. Dutch Schultz ran into a very useful horse in Bellewstown, but finished best of the rest in second, while Henry de Bromhead has won two of the last four renewals of this race, so a good run from his Callie Mannon on debut wouldn't be surprising.
RIVER TARA showed progressive form in bumpers and makes plenty of appeal now switching to hurdles for her top stable. She gets the vote, with Duleek Street and Dutch Schultz considered the main threats.
RIVER TARA opened her account in a bumper last time and should be hard to beat if she finds any further progress now hurdling

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A determined winner at Salisbury off 5lb lower on her penultimate start, MOONDIAL ran with credit at Kempton last time and the return to turf should see the three-year-old at her best. The booking of Luke Morris is another plus and she could have too much for Harry The Haggler, who is likely to be well suited by dropping back in distance. The unexposed Queens Resolve must be of interest on her handicap debut.
HARRY THE HAGGLER may have found the race coming too soon when below his best at Leicester last time and is taken to get off the mark in the finale. Moondial and Queens Resolve are feared most.
Moondial is respected back on turf but the vote goes to HARRY THE HAGGLER, who looks interesting on his drop back in trip.

Significantly up in trip and, chances are, she'll find a few too good once more. Hasn't won since June 2020 and was safely held on her first two starts this season. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
LECHRO has to be of interest after the four-year-old hacked up by eight lengths in a selling handicap at Beverley over this trip on similar going earlier in the month. She has to shoulder a 5lb penalty for that success, but will be going up 8lb for future races and that suggests she is 3lb well-in at the weights today. She gets the nod to follow up, but Hamilton third Prince Achille and Wolverhampton winner Ghostly are expected to prove worthy adversaries.
This is tougher than the selling handicap LECHRO landed at Beverley last week but she did the job emphatically and will prove a tough nut to crack under a penalty here, provided she is in a similar mood. Marcello Si gets the nod ahead of Prince Achille, Angel On High and Ghostly for forecast purposes.
Preference is for ANGEL ON HIGH who ran a big race in defeat at Leicester six weeks ago and remains on a very good mark.

Congo River |
(1) (9/1 -200%)9/1(-200%) | (1) Congo River 9/1, Useful colt. 5/1, good 1¼ lengths third of 11 to Funny Money Honey in listed race at Dundalk (5f), clear of rest. Off 10 months and has to concede weight all round but cannot be discounted all the same. Belated seasonal return and faces tough enough task at the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A chance is taken on seasonal debutant CONGO RIVER in a tight knit affair. Last seen when finishing third in Listed company at Dundalk in September, the Aidan O'Brien-trained colt faces vastly different ground conditions here. On his most recent start he had Lady Tilbury behind him in fourth, so should be able to confirm that form off similar weights. The latter has subsequently gone on to win over course and distance but that was on much better going. Having only had two previous starts on soft, it is hard to be sure that the David Marnane-trained filly doesn't handle it, so she cannot be discounted on that score alone. If adapting to conditions, the daughter of Bated Breath is very much the one to beat. Master Matt has been in good form of late so could well put it up to his younger rivals.
This looks trappy and the suggestion is MARIA BRANWELL, who has failed to make an impact the last twice but a reproduction of her near-miss in a pretty valuable handicap at the Curragh in June would give her every chance. Master Matt will be a serious threat if he puts his best foot forward and while Congo River will need to have improved since his 2-y-o campaign if he's to emerge on top, it wouldn't be much of a surprise were this well-bred Ballydoyle colt to raise his game.
A tricky little contest, all with chances. HARMONY ROSE runs well here and handles soft so gets the vote

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Runner-up on her last two starts, SHE IS A KEEPER could be the one to beat in a weak contest. The most recent of which came over 6f at this track last month and the daughter of Profitable shaped as though she would appreciate a stiffer stamina test. Hadrian's Wall looks to be her most serious danger in first-time cheekpieces, while Us Navy Jack seems best of the rest.
An uncompetitive seller, in which two-time runner-up SHE IS A KEEPER should take plenty of beating for the Richard Hannon stable. Hadrian's Wall has taken backwards steps since his debut second but at least has shown some ability, whilst Lambert wasn't given a hard time on his racecourse bow and could do better here.
It's a tad surprising to see SHE IS A KEEPER relegated to selling company after a decent nursery run here last time.

NAVIGATOR JACK's sole victory came over a similar trip in Listowel last year. His second place on penultimate start in Bellewstown reads well as the winner followed up in Roscommon this week. Navigator Jack was beaten into fifth when last seen in Killarney, but that was in a much higher grade. Florey Spud could bounce back from an underwhelming effort in Ballinrobe. He made no impression in rear of mid-division, however, he sustained a superficial wound during the race. He is better assessed on two runner-up finishes over an extended 3m at this track and over 2m4f in Sligo. He is very much at home on better ground. Star Official is up in trip after being beaten nine lengths into second at Limerick. Reserves Emily In Paris and Brianna Lily would have a part to play if getting a run. The former would be a serious player after winning a maiden hurdle in Killarney on the back of three runner-up finishes.
The vote goes to NAVIGATOR JACK, who has been knocking on the door in recent months and he has as good a chance as any in this contest. Star Official produced his best effort yet in this sphere when runner-up at Limerick recently and will be a threat if building on that. Florey Spud is 0-13 over hurdles but has hit the crossbar on several occasions and he is also shortlisted, along with likely improver Mastermacblack.
STAR OFFICIAL arrives on the back of a career best and he shaped like he would relish going back up in distance here

Back on the level and he looks an easy swerve. Form went the wrong way in Ireland and he's struggled to threaten for this yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Unplugged seems sure to prove popular as he looks for a hat-trick after wins here and at Pontefract. That said, he has another 4lb from the handicapper now and his form on a softer surface suggests this going may not see him at his best. HOT TEAM ran on well over a furlong shorter at Hamilton last time, leaving him 1lb well in here, and he may go close. Lenny's Spirit and Billy Roberts complete the shortlist.
HOT TEAM pulled clear with one at the top of his game (who has won again since) at Hamilton last Saturday and Patrick Morris' 7-y-o is fancied to go one better provided he can cope with this quick turnaround. Unplugged arrives on the back of a couple of wins in similar events in recent months, so he looks the obvious danger, while 10-y-o Billy Roberts can fill out third spot.
Having won under Serena Brotherton the last twice, UNPLUGGED is taken to land the hat-trick. Lenny's Spirit is a danger.

CAVALLO PAZZO very much catches the eye on his first start for trainer Joseph O'Brien. A maiden winner over 6f for Eoin Doyle on heavy ground at Naas last November, the gelding had previously just been touched off over this trip at Navan. Having failed to fire when stepped up to 7f on his only run this season, the four-year-old now reverts to sprinting. Former Joe McGrath winner That's Mad is another runner making his debut for a new yard. The seven-year-old has dropped a long way in the ratings so could be a danger if Anthony McCann has managed to reignite the spark. The Equiano gelding will have no problem with the testing ground. Tamazu, who won his maiden over course and distance, showed he is well handicapped when second at Down Royal recently. However, he does have to prove his effectiveness on the ground.
CAVALLO PAZZO has been the subject of a very interesting trainer change and might be worth chancing, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Tamazu is entitled to strip fitter for his Down Royal reappearance and is second choice ahead of Leanne Breen's Sosallycanwait, who has been knocking on the door lately.
A competitive handicap but C&D winner TAMAZU looks the pick after an excellent effort behind subsequent winner Dun Na Sead back in June

MACDUFF's dam is a lightly-raced half-sister to the phenomenal Kingman, as well as the Group 3 winner Remote. The son of Sea The Stars could be worth siding with based on that and is fancied to get the better of Monsieur Fudge, who cost 360,000 euro and is out of a Canadian Grade 1 winner. Broadway Act and Break The Bank are just two others with claims.
A field of juvenile newcomers, and the market will add valuable clues, but Godolphin's BROADWAY ACT, a son of Too Darn Hot who cost 250,000gns, ticks a whole lot of boxes. Monsieur Fudge and Break The Bank were expensive buys as well and are highly respected.
Charlie Appleby has won the past two renewals with colts who went on to register triple-digit RPRs and he introduces BROADWAY ACT.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TANGO THEATRE ran well in third at Kilbeggan and Limerick, and has a shot at an elusive first track success. This former point-to-point winner should be staying on stronger than most over this staying trip. Ocean Legacy has a course victory in her locker and also won over a trip just short of 3m at Downpatrick in May, so has decent claims. Jesina arrives on the back of a victory over an extended 2m5f at Ballinrobe in July. Previous attempts over further have been inconclusive, but this isn't a deep race. Second-reserve Mr Social showed more in fourth at Downpatrick and takes a further step up in trip.
SARAH BEARA has caught the eye a bit in her qualifying runs and might be able to improve past the likes of last month's Ballinrobe scorer Jesina and John McConnell's Tango Theatre and make a successful start to her handicap career for the Sam Curling yard.
Having shown improved form when third over 2m4f at Killarney last time, MAN AFTER MIDNIGHT can improve enough to score.

Whiskey Pete was beaten less than a length on his Newmarket debut and looked the sort to improve for the experience, but Charlie Appleby trained the winner that day and is represented here by AGE OF TIME. An 800,000-euro son of Dubawi and related to plenty of winners, he might well be up to making a winning debut under James Doyle. Mannerism and Mafnood have shown promise and are also entitled to have some say in the finish here.
WHISKEY PETE has to be the call after his very promising Newmarket debut, although a strong market move for expensive Godolphin breeze-up recruit Age of Time would put a slightly different slant on things. Karl Burke's Mannerism may prove best of the remainder.
Newmarket runner-up Whiskey Pete can play a leading role but Godolphin's 800,000euros breeze-up buy AGE OF TIME earns the vote.

ANDROMEDA can go one better here having caught the eye on debut when staying on well behind a stablemate at Leopardstown. The Aidan O'Brien-trained daughter of Galileo should be much more streetwise with the benefit of that experience, so should be hard to beat. Enthralling was a place behind in third at Leopardstown but had already had a previous outing. While the Donnacha O'Brien-trained filly should again be a leading contender, she may not be able to overturn the form with Andromeda. Shelaka, a half-sister to two black type horses, is one to note on her racecourse debut. Trainer Dermot Weld introduced a smart newcomer at Naas during the week and his string have been firing on all cylinders over the last couple of weeks.
ANDROMEDA showed plenty when runner-up at Leopardstown on debut 3 weeks ago and shades the vote over fellow Galileo-filly Enthralling, who left her debut well behind when third at Leopardstown. Glor Tire is another to consider.
After getting up close home to finish a head in front Enthralling at Leopardstown, ANDROMEDA is taken to confirm the placings

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A tentative vote goes to JAYYASH, who cost 420,000 euro earlier in the year and is by the sire of the moment in Siyouni. A full-brother to the German 1000 Guineas winner Txope, he is bred to be smart and is narrowly preferred to Tribal Moon for last year's winning trainer and Washeek, who hails from a stable that have an excellent record with first-time-out juveniles. Native King and Pick Your Battles must be noted for market support as well.
Another field of juvenile newcomers, and again the market will provide exta clues, but the eye is drawn to the Gosdens' JAYYASH, a really well-bred son of Siyouni who cost a pretty packet when sold earlier this year. Godolphin's Tribal Moon ticks a lot of boxes as well, and Native King, a son of Kingman, is respected also.
Tribal Moon and Jayyash are obvious dangers but WASHEEK is the only one of these holding a Group-race entry.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
RIAAN is of interest on chasing debut. This six-year-old gelding won twice over hurdles at Cork and Thurles and is related to a five-time winner over fences, so should have a future in this sphere. Decent ground holds no fears for him. The 129-rated Percy Warner is entitled to be well in the mix. He has been off since coming home sixth in a Grade B novice handicap chase at Navan in March and, prior to that, faced some tough tasks in beginners' chases. Although he has been extensively campaigned on slower ground, he won his point-to-point on good to yielding going. He has also won twice over hurdles. Rexem was pitched into graded company after winning a couple of hurdle races and adds plenty to this race.
PERCY WARNER's stamina was stretched upped to 23.5f on deep ground at Navan when last seen in March and he may well open his chase account now back down in trip on better ground. Chase debutants Rexem and Riaan are both feared, particularly the former who scored twice over hurdles last summer and he was a winner of his sole start between the flags in 2021. Tempo Chapter and Flaming Moon are others to consider.
PERCY WARNER (nap) has already achieved a rating of 129 and Henry de Bromhead's 7yo should appreciate a drop in trip here

Shaped as if needing the run on Newmarket handicap debut 5 months on, though the handicapper looks to have taken little chance with her mark on her Dubai form. Meydan maiden winner but merely mid-division on return at Newmarket three weeks ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
First Of May has won two of her four starts, both on the all-weather, and wasn't disgraced last time out when sixth at Chester. She could bounce back to her best but might have to settle for second if COUPLET improves for her first start of the season. The daughter of Zoustar won a maiden here last year and she was clear of the third when beaten at Doncaster on her return, which makes a mark of 79 look generous. Novice winner Quandary could be the one to follow them home.
COUPLET built on her 2-y-o debut win when runner-up at Doncaster last month and appeals as the sort to go on improving for her excellent yard, so she's selected to make a successful start in handicaps from an opening mark that could seriously underestimate her. Jumbeau is proving consistent and ought to be on the premises again, with Quandary another handicap debutante to note.
Pontefract winner QUANDARY (nap) has the potential to be better than her opening mark and is taken to follow up. Couplet is feared.

DEEPONE can maintain his unbeaten record by completing the hat-trick in a competitive race. A winner on his racecourse debut at Leopardstown in May, the Study Of Man colt then faced a simple task when justifying long odds-on favouritism in a winners' race at Killarney last month. While he beat little on that occasion, the form of his initial run has been very well advertised subsequently. Warnie was considered smart enough to make his debut in Listed company at Royal Ascot and while he failed to reach the frame, the Joseph O'Brien-trained colt showed plenty of promise. That experience wasn't wasted on the son of Highland Reel who shed his maiden tag at Bellewstown next time. Brilliant has improved with each run to date so the only filly in the line up could be a threat to all.
DEEPONE has looked a good prospect so far and looks capable of extending his unbeaten record to three up in grade. Brilliant is progressing by the run and likely to pose a serious threat, while further improvement is also expected from Bremen.
A good-class renewal in which DEEPONE can maintain his unbeaten record, although Warnie and Bremen could give him a good test

Lion's Mane |
(4) (33/1 -32%)33/1(-32%) | (4) Lion's Mane 33/1, Fairly useful winner in France but possibly needed the run after 8 months off when ninth of 13 in 1m handicap at Kempton on UK/yard debut 36 days ago. Steps back up in trip now and this will reveal more. Ex-French winner; quiet stable debut on the AW and has questions to answer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A comfortable winner of his last two starts, it is difficult to look past FINEST LEADER as he goes in search of a hat-trick. A 5lb rise for his most recent success at Newbury could prove lenient and, in the capable hands of William Buick, he should have too much for the Newcastle second Kingori. The capable Whitefeathersfall returns from a year off but cannot be discounted.
The combination of a step up in trip and fitting of cheekpieces have worked wonders for FINEST LEADER and he looks up to completing the hat-trick. Fellow 3-y-o Palamon likely has a bigger performance in the locker now stepping up in trip. especially if he can cut out the tardy starts, with the lightly-raced Kingori also respected on his turf debut.
A chance is taken on PALAMON. Slow starts are turning into a habit but there have been other excuses for his two defeats in handicaps.

WESTERN COWBOY is entitled to come on plenty from his comeback run in fourth at this track in June. That was his first run for 10 months and this represents a drop in class from the 0-130 handicap chases he has competed in on his last couple of outings. He gets first-time cheekpieces. Top Line Tommy will enjoy this ground and won a beginners' chase at Tramore in June before finishing second in an opportunity handicap chase at Clonmel. He has solid credentials under man of the moment Danny Gilligan. Iridescent put in a good effort to win a handicap chase over further at Downpatrick on his first crack at fences. He's up in class and there is improvement to come in his jumping, but he has a chance. Hascoeur Clermont and Downtown Queen are out of form, but capable of putting it all together.
LE MALIN performed about as well as could've been expected at the Cheltenham Festival in March and he is appealing now pitched into a handicap chase for the first time off a potentially handy mark. Next on the list is Top Line Tommy, who should give a good account back in this sphere following a spin over hurdles last time. Iridescent, a winner of his sole chase start at Downpatrick in June, is open to improvement over fences and is also accorded respect.
TOP LINE TOMMY is a big player after a career best when he was last seen over fences and his subsequent hurdle run is best forgiven

Alshinfarah is an obvious starting point and is shortlisted after she comfortably landed a fillies maiden at Doncaster last month. However, that form has a taken a few subsequent knocks and she might be worth taking on now that she faces the opposite sex for the first time. CESTRIAN SPIRIT appeals on pedigree and, given his yard has maintained a healthy strike-rate with their juveniles this season, he shades preference. Remaadd and Wootton's Jewel complete the shortlist.
This has the makings of a strong contest but, based on pedigree/connections, it might be worth taking a chance that REMAADD has enough ability to make a successful start at the likely expense of Doncaster winner Alshinfarah. Grand Karat offered plenty of encouragement at Newbury first time out, so he's another one likely to be involved.
This could go to the newcomer REMAADD, who is from a family William Haggas has done well with. Alshinfarah is second choice.

TIME TELLS ALL split too very smart types on his racecourse debut at Navan back in March but has failed to progress in three subsequent starts. A beaten favourite on his next two runs on turf, he then ran below par when switched to the Polytrack at Dundalk last time. Dermot Weld has a good record with horses sporting first-time headgear so the Sea The Stars gelding is given another chance now that he wears a visor. First Gentleman has been placed on all four maiden runs to date but similar to the Weld runner, he doesn't appear to be progressing. However, off a mark of 80, the Jessica Harrington-trained gelding looks to hold strong claims. Space Age has shown enough from limited opportunities to suggest he is also capable of getting involved for trainer John Joseph Murphy.
FIRST GENTLEMAN, Space Age and Time Tells All need to shrug off a below-par run but they are the ones to beat on their best form, and they are preferred in that order.
Although not guaranteed to stay FIRST GENTLEMAN gets the vote back on soft ground

Eponina |
(5) (9/1 +55%)9/1(+55%) | (5) Eponina 9/1, Nottingham winner in June and was unsurprisingly below form having a rare attempt at sprinting at Leicester (6f, good to firm) just under 5 weeks ago. Better showing anticipated despite being 3 times older than all her rivals. Ten-time winner who was running well before finding 6f too sharp a test last time. |

Comedian Leader |
(6) (40/1 -60%)40/1(-60%) | (6) Comedian Leader 40/1, Four wins on the all-weather earlier this year and entitled to strip fitter for recent seventh at Wolverhampton (7.2f) last month. Others make more appeal nonetheless. She's lost her way a little and others look more likely winners of this. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KIMNKATE found only another progressive rival too strong at Epsom last week and the slight ease in grade could enable Richard Hughes' filly to regain the winning thread. Astral Spirit starts life in handicap company off what looks a fair mark and the three-year-old may emerge as the biggest threat to the selection. Canadiansmokeshow appeared to improve in a first-time hood when landing a maiden contest at Brighton in June and shouldn't be underestimated now back in this sphere.
This can go the way of KIMNKATE, who hasn't looked back since being blinkered and Richard Hughes' 3-y-o can register a fourth success in her last 6 outings. Bonkersinabundance found improvement for the step up in trip when scoring at Brighton last month and she could be the one to give the selection most to think about, with Honeymooner and Canadiansmokeshow another couple fancied to go well.
It took a while to fulfil her flashes of good form at two but Brighton winner CANADIANSMOKESHOW (nap) could well progress further.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ITWASFATE drops back in trip and it could work the oracle on his third start over fences, as he won his maiden hurdle over just short of 2m at Kilbeggan. His trainer, Henry de Bromhead, has landed the last two renewals of this race. Irish Blaze sports a hood for the first time and it could help him to settle and get home. He has ability, but has been racing clear off the front before tiring. He may not get everything his own way up front with Jack Holiday in the field, so settling will be crucial. Danny Gilligan's 5lb claim is a bonus. Berliet Express is up in class, but running consistently well over fences and is dangerous off a light weight. Itwasfate's stablemate, Freddie Robdal, won by the minimum margin at Tramore in April and is in the hunt for prize money.
BERLIET EXPRESS has been in excellent form over fences this summer and wasn't disgraced on the Flat at Gowran last time, so he takes preference over Itwasfate, who is capable of better switched to handicapping for the first time in this sphere. Irish Blaze is a danger on his best form.
He's a long-standing maiden but LOOK DONT TOUCH looks like a big player on h'cap debut having shown promise in 3 recent chase starts

BEVERAGINO sets a reasonable standard with an official rating of 76 and, given that she has previous C&D experience, Michael Bell's filly can put her knowledge to good use back over this intermediate trip. Kinetic is a likely improver now upped to 7f and she is dangerous to underestimate. Cheshire Dancer and Sovereign Queen are a couple of noteworthy newcomers to monitor in the betting.
BEVERAGINO will be suited by the return to this trip and can put her experience to good use. Sphinx of Naxos and Surging Tide make most appeal of the newcomers before market clues.

(9) (2.75/1 +31%)2.75/1(+31%) | (9) Viceregent 2.75/1, 9/1, good second of 14 in handicap at Ballinrobe (12.6f, good to soft) 18 days ago. Has good chance on form. Ballinrobe second on same mark; acts on soft and experienced rider so lots of positives. |

Lispendense |
(3) (20/1 +39%)20/1(+39%) | (3) Lispendense 20/1, Thrice-raced maiden on Flat. Fairly useful winner at 16f in bumpers. Last of 14 in maiden at Roscommon (10.3f, good to soft, 40/1) 81 days ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Bumper winner not an obvious player off what looks a high initial mark. |

Mutadaawel |
(15) (33/1 +34%)33/1(+34%) | (15) Mutadaawel 33/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2020. Twelfth of 17 in handicap at Navan (10f, soft, 25/1) 27 days ago. Back up in trip. Wining form is at 1m; easily overlooked despite this much reduced mark. |

Patrick Joseph |

Sea The Sunset |
(11) (80/1 -21%)80/1(-21%) | (11) Sea The Sunset 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. Seventh of 14 in novice hurdle (150/1) at Tramore (16.6f, good) 70 days ago. Fair on the Flat, below form on last Flat outing. Maiden under both codes soundly beaten of late over hurdles; hard to fancy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LONGCLAW has been done no favours with a wide draw but the Pat Murphy-trained six-year-old comes into the race as one of the in-form runners. A winner on just his second start for the stable at Ballinrobe in June, the gelding went close at the Galway Festival last week. Jody Townend is obviously a very significant booking in a race of this nature. Viceregent stayed on strongly when runner-up over this trip last time and is on a fair mark on the flat. Expound has been highly consistent of late so commands respect under Aine O'Connor. The four-year-old ran his best race to date when stepped up to this trip at Tramore last time. Golden Star is difficult to evaluate having his first run in a handicap after just the three starts. The Tony Martain-trained gelding showed little in two bumper runs.
VICEREGENT ran well on his belated return to the Flat when second at Ballinrobe and should go well again off the same mark. Expound and Longclaw head the dangers.
Recent Ballinrobe second VICEREGENT should appreciate this more galloping track and has the most experienced rider booked

(1) (3.5/1 -5%)3.5/1(-5%) | (1) Equiano Springs 3.5/1, Added to his good Newmarket record when winning an 8-runner handicap over C&D last month. Raised 3 lb but the capable Adam Farragher also takes 3 lb off. Bold bid likely.
Lady Dreamer |
(11) (6/1 -9%)6/1(-9%) | (11) Lady Dreamer 6/1, Has reacted well to a visor, getting off the mark in a 6f Windsor novice last month and looked a bit unlucky not to finish closer (denied a clear run) when third of 8 in handicap there 3 weeks later. Respected.
Flying Secret |
(3) (6/1 +14%)6/1(+14%) | (3) Flying Secret 6/1, Dual 7f winner at Yarmouth and Newbury this summer. Also a creditable third at latter venue on penultimate start and possibly unsuited by softer ground when below par at Ascot latest. Has form at 6f. William Buick takes the ride.
Prospering |
(9) (7/1 +13%)7/1(+13%) | (9) Prospering 7/1, Improved again to get off the mark in a 6f Ascot handicap in May. Needs to shrug off a couple of lesser runs since but he does have the services of Oisin Murphy. v
Rathbone |
(2) (8/1 +50%)8/1(+50%) | (2) Rathbone 8/1, Yet to score this term but plenty of respectable efforts for his new yard. Latest ninth of 11 at Yarmouth wasn't one of them, though. Bounce back needed.
Ice Cool Harry |
(7) (8/1 +11%)8/1(+11%) | (7) Ice Cool Harry 8/1, Off the mark at third attempt in 7-runner Lingfield novice (6f, good to firm) in June. Only a respectable fourth of 5 on his handicap debut back there since but he retains potential as an unexposed sort.
Champagne Sarah |
(6) (11/1 -22%)11/1(-22%) | (6) Champagne Sarah 11/1, Won back to back over 6f at Newbury and Yarmouth in June. Respectable second back at Yarmouth on ha-trick bid 6 weeks ago. Sports first-time cheekpieces.
Distinguished Lady |
(4) (12/1 +14%)12/1(+14%) | (4) Distinguished Lady 12/1, AW winner on final 2-y-o start. Shaped well from a tricky position when neck third to Radio Goo Goo on 6f Chester reappearance but below that level twice since. First run for new yard after leaving Alice Haynes.
Dashing Dick |
(8) (12/1 +40%)12/1(+40%) | (8) Dashing Dick 12/1, Got back on track in first-time blinkers when third of 8 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good to firm) last month but not in the same form when fifth over 7f here last Friday.
Tolstoy |
(5) (22/1 -83%)22/1(-83%) | (5) Tolstoy 22/1, Ran well to be placed at Sandown (5f) and Brighton (7f) in June but ran one of his lesser races when down the field over 5f here 3 weeks ago. Bounce back needed.
Golden Duke |
(10) (25/1 -108%)25/1(-108%) | (10) Golden Duke 25/1, 33/1, left first 2 efforts this season well behind when winning 13-runner handicap at Doncaster (6f, good to firm) 42 days ago, suited by way race developed. Should remain competitive off 4 lb higher but he has yet to win from a mark in the 70s. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
EQUIANO SPRINGS appeared to relish the drop in trip when winning a shade cosily over C&D last month and the son of Equiano could make light work of a 3lb rise. Lady Dreamer looks to have a race of this nature within her compass, although she will likely need to break better in order to capitalise in this contest. Tom Ward's filly is another to consider, along with Champagne Sarah, who should appreciate the return to 6f.
EQUIANO SPRINGS has his 3 lb rise for last month's C&D success offset by Adam Farragher's claim and might be able to follow up. Lady Dreamer can extend her run of good efforts since visored to 3 and provide the chief threat ahead of Clive Cox's Ice Cool Harry.
A chance is taken on DISTINGUISHED LADY, who has claims on her best form if she's revitalised by a change of stable.

Traditude Tara |
(6) (1.38/1 -10%)1.38/1(-10%) | (6) Traditude Tara 1.38/1, Kayf Tara mare. Dam, bumper winner/maiden hurdler, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3¼m) Urtheoneiwant (by Kayf Tara) out of French 2m hurdle winner Mascareigne. Worth chancing to make a winning start. Is by a top sire and hails from the champion trainer; highly respected on debut. |

Thisistheway |
(9) (9/1 +25%)9/1(+25%) | (9) Thisistheway 9/1, €2,000 3-y-o, Doyen filly. Dam (h121), bumper/2½m hurdle winner (stayed 3m), half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 3m) Miss Mitch and fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3¼m) Rockiteer. By a decent sire and yard gets winners; top amateur aboard and could run well. |

Emer Elysees |
(2) (14/1 +0%)14/1(+0%) | (2) Emer Elysees 14/1, Twice-raced maiden. Twelfth of 18 in bumper at Limerick (16.4f, good to soft, 6/1) 77 days ago. Others preferred. Showed ability on debut last year but beaten 52l at Limerick on return and questions now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Mount Shenshan |
(5) (22/1 -22%)22/1(-22%) | (5) Mount Shenshan 22/1, Once-raced maiden. Tongue strap on, sixth of 11 in bumper at Limerick (19f, soft, 33/1) on NH debut 15 days ago. Stayed on steadily in a 2m4f Limerick bumper on debut; has to improve a fair bit. |

Yorkshire Escape |
(11) (25/1 -56%)25/1(-56%) | (11) Yorkshire Escape 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Seventh of 16 in novice hurdle at Limerick (16f, soft, 80/1) 15 days ago. Switches from hurdles to bumpers. Unlikely to feature. Showed a bit more in a Limerick maiden hurdle last time; further improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Coach Lady |
(12) (66/1 +34%)66/1(+34%) | (12) The Coach Lady 66/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. Ninth of 12 in bumper at Killarney (17f, good, 200/1) on bumper debut 22 days ago. RESERVE. Much better effort at Killarney last time; lots more still needed; reserve. |

Ballinearla Girl |
(7) (80/1 -21%)80/1(-21%) | (7) Ballinearla Girl 80/1, Vendangeur filly. Half-sister to a point winner. Dam unraced. Not an obvious sort on paper. Is likely to improve from this debut, so best watched. |

Kamama |
(3) (125/1 -25%)125/1(-25%) | (3) Kamama 125/1, Once-raced maiden. Twelfth of 13 in bumper at this course (20.7f, good to soft, 150/1) on NH debut 35 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Beaten nearly 60l on debut in a 2m4f bumper here and enormous improvement is required. |

Another Red Cat |
(1) (150/1 +25%)150/1(+25%) | (1) Another Red Cat 150/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. Pulled up in novice hurdle (200/1) at Kilbeggan (19f, soft) on hurdles bow 28 days ago, tailing off early final circuit. Switches from hurdles to bumpers. Can't be fancied on the evidence of her two starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MEET MY LORELEY could be a useful recruit for Barry Connell. She won a point-to-point for previous connections and then put in an excellent effort in second at 50/1 in a bumper at Thurles in December. Several winners have come out of that race. Traditude Tara represents Willie and Patrick Mullins and is an obvious danger on racecourse debut. Trainer Mullins is in absolutely dominant form in bumpers this season. Mount Shenshan was reluctant to race in Limerick, but did make up some noticeable late ground and has a place chance particularly if jumping off with the field.
TRADITUDE TARA is out of a bumper winner and is taken to make a sucessful start at the likely expense of Meet My Loreley in a race that the pair should dominate.
MEET MY LORELEY sets a decent standard on her second in a bumper last winter and will take some beating if repeating that form.

Unequal Love |
(2) (0.67/1 +26%)0.67/1(+26%) | (2) Unequal Love 0.67/1, Showed promise under a considerate ride on debut and improved when outpointing subsequent winner Bishop's Crown in a 6f Leicester maiden (good to firm). Followed up in ready fashion on slower ground at Ripon (6f, good to soft) and further progress likely back up in trip for this handicap bow. Something to spare the last twice and has the potential to be better than her opening mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Diamond Vega |
(1) (2/1 +11%)2/1(+11%) | (1) Diamond Vega 2/1, Winner of a heavy-ground 6f novice here at 2 yrs and duly left-key reappearance (pulled hard) behind when landing a Catterick handicap (good) upped to 7f last month. 6 lb rise fair and she probably has more to offer. Unexposed 3yo who did it nicely at Catterick and may well take a 6lb rise in her stride. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tellus |
(3) (6.5/1 +19%)6.5/1(+19%) | (3) Tellus 6.5/1, Made the frame all 4 starts as a 2-y-o and improved when landing 7f novice events at Catterick and Chelmsford during the spring. However, form has dipped badly the last twice and she now has a bit to prove. Kicked off 3yo campaign with two wins but well beaten the last twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
UNEQUAL LOVE has won her last couple of starts in striking fashion and is hard to oppose in her bid for a third victory within the space of just over a month. It's notable that her dam was placed over 1m in a Listed race at this course and all the signs are positive for this progressive filly. Catterick winner Diamond Vega is respected but a 6lb higher mark demands more of her, while Tellus and Jill Rose may have to settle for supporting roles.
UNEQUAL LOVE and Diamond Vega both possess appealing profiles, particularly the former who looks a useful prospect judged on her stylish victories at Leicester and Ripon. The Dutch Art filly is likely to raise her game another notch now moving back up in trip and pitched into a handicap off what could turn out to be a very fair mark. Jill Rose should give a good account but, as an exposed 7-y-o, she may struggle to keep tabs on the aforementioned, progressive 3-y-os.
Preference is for DIAMOND VEGA, who did it nicely at Catterick last month on her second handicap start.
Ths is the racecard key.

Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
