1st (1) (4/9 +44%) Bay City Roller |
4/9(+44%) | (1) Bay City Roller 4/9, Promising New Bay colt who landed gamble in 13-runner novice at Sandown (7f, good to firm) on his debut 29 days ago. Will take the beating. Landed a gamble by a neck on Sandown debut; holds several big race entries. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (7/2 0%) Rock D'oro |
7/2(0%) | (9) Rock D'oro 7/2, Foaled May 2. $30,000 yearling, €130,000 2-y-o, Bolt D'oro colt. Dam US 6.5f/7f winner out of half-sister to US 2-y-o Grade 1 1m winner Traitor. One for shortlist on debut given connections. Attractive pedigree and stable 8-20 (40%) with 2yo newcomers this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (20/1 +0%) Nidaami |
20/1(+0%) | (7) Nidaami 20/1, Foaled March 10. Mohaather gelding. Dam winner up to 1½m (2-y-o 1m winner). Wears blinkers. Not ruled out. Already gelded and wears blinkers on debut; may appreciate further on breeding. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (33/1 +50%) Arcturus Flame |
33/1(+50%) | (2) Arcturus Flame 33/1, Foaled April 4. 40,000 gns yearling, Too Darn Hot colt. Half-brother to several winners, including useful 1m/9f winner Like A King and winner up to 9.5f Daafr. Something to like on breeding but would be a rare winning 2yo newcomer from the stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (20/1 -122%) Mekhled |
20/1(-122%) | (5) Mekhled 20/1, Foaled March 11. €70,000 foal, €40,000 2-y-o, Mehmas colt. Dam, sprint maiden who placed third at 5f, half-sister to smart winner up to 1m (stayed 1¼m) Van Der Neer. Considered newcomer. Enough to like on breeding and market support should be heeded on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (5/1 -11%) Via Con Me |
5/1(-11%) | (10) Via Con Me 5/1, Foaled March 7. $155,000 yearling, No Nay Never colt. Dam, made frame at 8.5f, half-sister to useful US 1m/8.5f winner Cool Beans. Stable’s first-timers usually merit respect. Stable gets plenty of 2yo winners first time; enough on pedigree to make him of interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (150/1 -355%) One Road |
150/1(-355%) | (8) One Road 150/1, Once-raced maiden. Last of 7 in maiden at Pontefract (6f, good, 20/1) on debut 11 days ago. Looked awkward when tailed-off on his Pontefract debut; best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (200/1 -300%) Take The Boat |
200/1(-300%) | (11) Take The Boat 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. Seventh of 13 in maiden (50/1) at Kempton (8f) 9 days ago. More is needed. Has hinted at ability, but her future probably lies in handicaps after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (50/1 -257%) Moonlit Stage |
50/1(-257%) | (6) Moonlit Stage 50/1, Twice-raced maiden. 12/1, fourth of 9 in novice at Kempton (8f) 9 days ago, slowly away. Fourth in first two starts but well beaten in both; handicaps over further should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (200/1 -203%) Manton Road |
200/1(-203%) | (4) Manton Road 200/1, Once-raced maiden. 28/1, last of 13 in novice at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm) on debut 30 days ago. Gelded since. Looked an awkward ride when tailed off on his Yarmouth debut; best watched for now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BAY CITY ROLLER justified favouritism when making a winning debut in a decent novice race at Sandown last month. George Scott's colt should have no issues racing on Polytrack and he's taken to defy a 7lb penalty. $155,000 debutant Via Con Me is a half-sister to Graded stakes-placed Cool Beans and any market support for the son of No Nay Never would be interesting, with fellow newcomer Rock D'oro making most appeal of the remainder.
A few newcomers offer potential but BAY CITY ROLLER looked a good prospect when making a winning debut at Sandown and can defy a 7 lb penalty. Rock d'Oro (second choice), Via Con Me and Mekhled all appeal on paper so could emerge as the main dangers to George Scott's New Bay colt.
Having landed a gamble on last month's Sandown debut, BAY CITY ROLLER sets the standard. He holds several big-race entries this autumn.

1st (3) (9/2 +18%) Isle Of Wolves |
9/2(+18%) | (3) Isle Of Wolves 9/2, Thirty runs since last win in 2019. Good second of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) in June, headed late on. Didn't appear to do much wrong so needs considering despite losing sequence. Last win in 2019 but good 2nd last 3 starts, including for today's rider; each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4/1 +0%) Ballsbridge |
4/1(+0%) | (2) Ballsbridge 4/1, Has yet to taste success in 9 starts but he returned to form when ¾-length second of 8 to Star of St James in handicap (7/2) at Redcar (8f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Not the most consistent but is fairly weighted if he can back that up for yard amongst the winners. 0-9; two fair runs this season, latest over 1m; softer ground a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (28/1 -12%) Tasever |
28/1(-12%) | (9) Tasever 28/1, Remains a maiden after 20 Flat runs. Visored for 1st time, first run since leaving Tim Easterby when eighth of 9 in handicap (9/2) at this C&D (good to soft) 24 days ago, weakening 2f out. Cheekpieces back on. Longstanding maiden; below-par last twice, latest over C&D (visor); cheekpieces back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/2 +17%) Star Of St James |
5/2(+17%) | (6) Star Of St James 5/2, C&D winner who comes here in fine form, deservedly back to winning ways at Redcar (1m) in July before following up in dominant fashion at Nottingham (10.2f) 16 days ago. Up 9 lb but respected nevertheless in this groove. In fine for for today's rider, winning last two, latest (1m2f) by 8.5l; up 9lb; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (7/1 +22%) Darbucks |
7/1(+22%) | (7) Darbucks 7/1, Course winner. Twenty runs since last win in 2022 but placed on first 3 starts this season. However, below-par efforts on his last 2 outings, fifth of 10 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.1f) 57 days ago, so he needs to get back on track. Tongue strap on 1st time. Trip/ground suit; two good runs in May but not done as well last twice; tongue-tie tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (22/1 +12%) Cage Rattler |
22/1(+12%) | (10) Cage Rattler 22/1, Unreliable sort who has made a low-key start for new connections, fifth of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (9.2f, good to firm) 26 days ago. Others make more appeal. Ex-Irish; won over 7f on soft in May; not done as well since; others look stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (5/1 +29%) Annandale |
5/1(+29%) | (8) Annandale 5/1, Comes here on a lengthy losing run but very much caught the eye on second start having rejoined this yard when fourth of 12 in handicap at this course (11.2f) 8 days ago, finishing with running left. Worth a look significantly down in trip. Four wins at up to 1m5f; eyecatcher when 4th here last time (1m3f); 1m perhaps too short. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (200/1 -100%) Gaazooo |
200/1(-100%) | (12) Gaazooo 200/1, 150/1, seventh of 8 in handicap at Leicester (10f, good to firm) 18 days ago, headed over 3f out and dropping away. Plenty to prove stepping down in trip. Modest performer who is hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (12/1 -260%) King Sharja |
12/1(-260%) | (5) King Sharja 12/1, Fallen plenty in the weights and back on track, landing back-to-back handicaps at Beverley (7.4f) in recent weeks. Rates a live player in hat-trick bid up 4 lb. Has won two 7.5f h'caps on good to firm on last two runs but this softer going not ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (40/1 -150%) Aldbourne |
40/1(-150%) | (1) Aldbourne 40/1, Dual winner on Flat for Harry Eustace during 2022. Largely disappointing last season and whilst he's yet to feature over hurdles for present stable, some of his efforts haven't been devoid of encouragement. Still, others rate stronger back on the level. Two wins over 1m2f in 2022; not run as well since (over hurdles last twice); headgear on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (50/1 +0%) Bingley Crocker |
50/1(+0%) | (11) Bingley Crocker 50/1, Eighth of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 50/1) 13 days ago, weakening over 1f out. Steps back up in trip here but he needs to show more encouraging signs before becoming of interest. Maiden; on a fair mark despite being 1lb out of the handicap; more needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A winner at Redcar last month, Star Of St James made it two wins from two under Stephanie Dorey when making all for a clearcut success at Nottingham recently. The pair have formed quite the partnership and he must be respected up 9lb, but preference is for BALLSBRIDGE. The selection went down by half-a-length to the former at Redcar last time, and on significantly better terms he can turn the tables. The hat-trick-seeking King Sharja enters calculations, as does Isle of Wolves.
ANNANDALE's losing run tempers enthusiasm but he very much caught the eye when fourth over further here 8 days ago, finishing with running left having been set a lot to do. He could be worth chancing to build on that effort down significantly in trip. Ballsbridge for the in-form Jennie Candlish yard and thriving pair Star of St James and King Sharja are others to consider.
Despite his 9lb rise for his easy win over 1m2f at Nottingham last time, STAR OF ST JAMES is taken to win again.

1st (3) (11/8 +66%) Sir Palamedes |
11/8(+66%) | (3) Sir Palamedes 11/8, Below par in valuable contest at Newbury latest but was only narrowly denied in 6f York nursery (good to soft) previously and holds solid claims. Went close in York nursery last month and not disgraced in Super Sprint a week later. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/4 +44%) Seven Symphonies |
5/4(+44%) | (2) Seven Symphonies 5/4, Foaled March 3. 72,000 gns foal, 220,000 gns yearling, Sergei Prokofiev colt. Half-brother to 2-y-o 7f winner Dajarus. Dam, maiden (stayed 1¼m), half-sister to useful winner up to 7f Nasri. Market check advised on debut. 220,000gns yearling; refused to enter stalls when 11-1 for intended debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/1 -260%) Apache Green |
9/1(-260%) | (1) Apache Green 9/1, Foaled February 8. 55,000 gns foal, €80,000 yearling, Showcasing gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to very smart 5f-1m winner Belvoir Bay, won Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. Interesting newcomer. First foal from unraced half-sister to Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner Belvoir Bay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/2 -233%) Kokabah |
15/2(-233%) | (5) Kokabah 15/2, Thrice-raced filly who found improvement when third of 11 in maiden at Nottingham (6.1f, good) 16 days ago, clear of rest. May have more to offer yet. Kept on for third at Nottingham this month; major player if this slower ground suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (40/1 0%) Toby's Time |
40/1(0%) | (4) Toby's Time 40/1, Twice-raced colt. 125/1, eighth of 9 in novice at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) 35 days ago. Looks one for handicaps down the line. Unable to emerge from rear division in two 7f novice races last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A small field where the form on offer suggests that SIR PALAMEDES can go well with Kieran Shoemark in the saddle. Well beaten at huge odds last time out over five furlongs, that effort came in the Super Sprint at Newbury and he may be better judged on his short-head second at York over this trip in July when there was cut in the ground. A similar performance may see him get the better of Nottingham third Kokabah, with newcomers Seven Symphonies and Apache Green worthy of a market watch.
Preference is for SIR PALAMEDES, who posted his best effort yet when runner-up in a nursery on easy ground at York last month and can be forgiven his last outing. Kokabah looks the obvious danger.
A close second in a York nursery two runs ago SIR PALAMEDES is proven on ground slower than good and gets the vote ahead of Kokabah

1st (1) (9/4 +50%) Last Encore |
9/4(+50%) | (1) Last Encore 9/4, Twice-raced maiden. 11/4, third of 11 in maiden at Sligo (5.7f, soft) 22 days ago. Makes handicap debut for leading stable. Two solid maiden runs; one to consider on h'cap debut with a good value claimer booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/3 -33%) Gloriously Glam |
10/3(-33%) | (3) Gloriously Glam 10/3, Lightly-raced winner. 9/2 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 13-runner nursery at Sligo (5.7f, soft) 22 days ago, easily. Obvious claims again. Made a mockery of her opening mark when an easy Sligo nursery winner; this tougher up 12lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/1 +45%) Arizona Beauty |
11/1(+45%) | (7) Arizona Beauty 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 150/1, seventh of 15 in maiden at Tipperary (7.4f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Not much to show for three maidens over futher but can do better in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (14/1 +0%) Ottoman |
14/1(+0%) | (8) Ottoman 14/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Ninth of 13 in maiden at the Curragh (7f, good to firm, 125/1) 19 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Not much to show for three maidens over 7f but now gelded and could do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (9/1 +59%) Katie Ross |
9/1(+59%) | (9) Katie Ross 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 10½ lengths eleventh of 13 to Gloriously Glam in nursery at Sligo (5.7f, soft, 11/1) 22 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Not beaten far in three maidens; found ground too soft on h'cap debut and can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (5/1 +23%) James The Second |
5/1(+23%) | (10) James The Second 5/1, Creditable 6¾ lengths fifth of 13 to Gloriously Glam in nursery (4/1) at Sligo (5.7f, soft) 22 days ago, worst of draw. Respected. Not bad runs in nurseries last twice but needs more from 1lb out of the h'cap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (28/1 -40%) Dance For Chester |
28/1(-40%) | (12) Dance For Chester 28/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fourteenth of 19 in maiden (150/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 47 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Has work to do. Well held three maiden starts and not much appeal from 7lb out of the h'cap; gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (7/1 -180%) Peregrine Falcon |
7/1(-180%) | (4) Peregrine Falcon 7/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 14 in maiden at Cork (5f, good to firm, 12/1) 13 days ago, met some trouble. Tongue strap on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Check the betting. Hasn't built on the promise of her debut 3rd but worth noting on h'cap debut; tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (20/1 0%) Hugo's Girl |
20/1(0%) | (6) Hugo's Girl 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 5 in nursery at the Curragh (6f, good to firm, 18/1) 40 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Tongue strap on 1st time. Decent on first two maiden runs but was well beaten on h'cap debut last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (80/1 -142%) Ink Sketch |
80/1(-142%) | (11) Ink Sketch 80/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 250/1, last of 15 in maiden at Cork (6f, good) 76 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Not easy to make a case for. Promise on debut but poor twice since; not much appeal from 5lb out of the h'cap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PEREGRINE FALCON appeals on her first try in handicap company. Successful in a barrier trial at Naas in May, she finished third after attempting to make all on her official debut. Thought good enough to take her chance in the Albany at Royal Ascot, she finished down the field there, before again failing to make a significant impact on her most recent start. Out of a sister to dual-Group 1 winner Fascinating Rock, she is fitted with a tongue-strap for the first time now and it'll be disappointing if she's not involved towards the business end. Easily dismissing her rivals at Sligo earlier this month, Gloriously Glam is given second preference, while her stable companion Wise Men Say also warrants respect. The highest rated runner in the line-up, Last Encore looks to have strong claims, while James The Second and Hugo's Girl (first time tongue-strap) are others for the shortlist.
WISE MEN SAY had an excuse in a valuable sales race at Naas last time and looks well treated judged on his Cork win prior to that. His stablemate Gloriously Glam scored so easily at Sligo last time that even a 13 lb rise doesn't leave her handicapped out of things. James The Second had the worst of the draw when fifth to Gloriously Glam at Sligo and should get closer to her this time.
Unusually, LAST ENCORE is able to run in a nursery after only two maiden starts and he can get off the mark with a top claimer

1st (5) (5/1 +0%) Laguna Boy |
5/1(+0%) | (5) Laguna Boy 5/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 80/1, fourth of 9 in novice at Kempton (8f) 22 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Handicap debut; needs to learn to settle better but latest qualifying run was encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (4/1 -20%) Mereside Madness |
4/1(-20%) | (7) Mereside Madness 4/1, Respectable fifth of 11 in handicap (6/1) at Haydock (7.2f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Blinkers on 1st time. Has good chance on form. Dual AW winner at start of this year and ran well on turf this month; blinkers now added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/1 +60%) Jackson Street |
4/1(+60%) | (4) Jackson Street 4/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, sixth of 7 in handicap at Newmarket (10f, good, 28/1) 20 days ago. Back down in trip. Others more persuasive. Drops back in trip after two disappointing middle-distance runs; more to prove than some. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 -14%) Shelbourne |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Shelbourne 4/1, Winner at Catterick in April. 18/1, respectable third of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 16 days ago. Can give a good account back down in class. Returned to form with creditable third in higher-grade Lingfield race this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (6/1 +50%) Kaolinite |
6/1(+50%) | (6) Kaolinite 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Hooded for 1st time, tenth of 15 in handicap at Newbury (7f, good to firm, 33/1) 13 days ago. Something to find on form. Showed clear promise in novice/maiden races but safely held when 33-1 for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (7/1 -100%) Gaiety Musical |
7/1(-100%) | (3) Gaiety Musical 7/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 4/1, creditable third of 9 in maiden at this course (8f) 14 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Makes handicap debut. Placed in C&D novice and 1m course maiden this summer; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (11/1 -120%) Cervaro Della Sala |
11/1(-120%) | (2) Cervaro Della Sala 11/1, Winner at Kempton in May. Good fourth of 10 in handicap (14/1) at Pontefract (6f, good) 11 days ago, never nearer. Needs considering. Consistent filly; came good over 6f two starts ago and looks ready for another crack at 7f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Although unable to score on the turf on his last three outings, dual Tapeta winner MERESIDE MADNESS shouldn't have any issues now racing on Polytrack. The application of first-time blinkers may eke out some improvement from the Buratino gelding and he's taken to regain the winning thread. Gaiety Musical enters handicaps off a fair mark judged on her recent close-up third at this venue and she's feared most, ahead of Laguna Boy.
SHELBOURNE was beaten only by a pair of improvers at Lingfield last time and gets the vote back down in class. Mereside Madness has won his last 2 starts on AW so is next best ahead of Cervaro Della Sala.
Preference is for SHELBOURNE who got his career back on track with a good third in higher-grade company at Lingfield this month.

10/11(+0%) | (2) Northern Ticker 10/11, Son of Mehmas who confirmed promise of his C&D debut third when readily landing 8-runner novice (11/8) at Newcastle (6f) 27 days ago. Form working out and big shout returned to turf with further progress on the cards. Bettered debut run when winning on AW last time (6f; strong form); should go well. |

2nd (1) (7/4 +22%) Airspeed |
7/4(+22%) | (1) Airspeed 7/4, Got off the mark in straightforward fashion in 5f Hamilton maiden in July and ran at least as well when finding only a progressive stablemate too strong in 6-runner Haydock nursery (6f) 25 days ago. Looks sure to be thereabouts again back in novice company. Won 5f maiden on second start; short-head second in 6f nursery latest; chance. |

Probably one for further down the line. 7,000euros breeze-up buy; well beaten over 7f on debut; may do better at 6f; more needed. |

10th (3) (150/1 -355%) Blue Lakota |
150/1(-355%) | (3) Blue Lakota 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. 22/1, shaped better than distance beaten suggests when ninth of 10 in novice at this C&D (good) 54 days ago, travelling well but not finding much. Not one to write off but nurseries promise to be more his bag. Modest efforts so far (well behind Northern Ticker latest); gelded since; may improve. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
NORTHERN TICKER caught the eye when keeping on for third over this course and distance on his debut in July. The son of Mehmas put his rivals to the sword at Newcastle next time and a penalty is unlikely to prevent him from mounting another stern challenge. Airspeed sets the standard with an official rating of 81 and he is the main threat, while Reddeef, who displayed some promise on his racecourse bow at Newmarket earlier in the month, is also noted.
As anticipated, NORTHERN TICKER confirmed the promise of his C&D debut third when running out a ready winner at Newcastle 4 weeks ago and with that form working out he makes plenty of appeal in his follow-up bid under a penalty. Airspeed is progressing gradually and feared returned to novice company. Reddeef, following his encouraging debut effort at Newmarket, is another to consider.
An interesting novice event in which Newcastle winner NORTHERN TICKER is taken to follow up by beating Hamilton winner Airspeed.

1st (5) (2/1 +80%) Herecomesthebear |
2/1(+80%) | (5) Herecomesthebear 2/1, Still looked green when fifth of 8 in nursery (12/1) at Chester (7f, good to soft) 25 days ago, weakening out of it. Drop to 6f looks a good move. Didn't find much over 7f latest but the return to 6f looks more likely if handling soft. |

2nd (3) (13/8 +7%) Saytarr |
13/8(+7%) | (3) Saytarr 13/8, Well backed and showed improved form when third of 11 in nursery (10/3) at Southwell (6.1f) 11 days ago. Cheekpieces reached for and this mark looks within range. Had every chance when keepiing on steadily in 3rd on AW/handicap debut (6f); headgear on. |

3rd (2) (7/1 -250%) She Went Whoosh |
7/1(-250%) | (2) She Went Whoosh 7/1, Improved on the level achieved in her qualifying runs when good third of 8 in nursery at Leicester (5f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Return to 6f in her favour. Acts on soft; strong-finishing 3rd at Leicester in July; improve back at 6f. |

4th (1) (10/3 -33%) Dark Thunderstorm |
10/3(-33%) | (1) Dark Thunderstorm 10/3, Another creditable effort when third of 6 in nursery (9/1) at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 18 days ago. This represents a drop in class so he needs considering. Two good 6f handicap runs from the front; unraced on ground slower than good. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
With no winning form to work with, it may pay to side with SAYTARR, who finished third last time out at Southwell when keeping on at the one pace and races off the same mark here. The application of first-time cheekpieces are also likely to enhance his credentials. She Went Whoosh is not comfortably overlooked after her Leicester third and she is well worth another try at 6f, leaving top-weight Dark Thunderstorm to chase them home.
SAYTARR left the level achieved in his qualifying runs behind when third in a soundly-run nursery at Southwell 11 days ago and with cheekpieces fitted, he looks a big player from an unchanged mark. The return to 6f will suit She Went Whoosh and she's feared most, ahead of Dark Thunderstorm.
The return to 6f should suit SHE WENT WHOOSH and she has also shown she acts on soft ground so makes the most appeal.

80/1(-100%) | (3) New Definition 80/1, 28/1, last of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good to firm) 62 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Lost form towards the end of his time for James Tate, has struggled in four Irish starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Eddie Lynam saddles three of the 15 in this competitive affair. Bidding to complete a four-timer, the progressive KEKE is the standout name of his representatives. Successful when drawn widest of all over the course and distance in June, he is again in the outside stall and upped just 3lb for his latest win at the Curragh, the Dandy Man bay might still be ahead of the assessor. Universally, who has already won twice this season, is likely to enter calculations, while others for the shortlist include Mehman and Moltophino.
KEKE continues on an upward curve and his habit of winning by narrow margins has helped to protect his handicap mark. He makes plenty of appeal. Transcendental and Universally head the list of dangers.
The progressive KEKE began his winning sequence drawn wide at this venue. He is again on the outside and may make it four in a row

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This may be dominated by 92-rated pair Dancing Magic and SKIPPER, with the latter's unexposed profile edging him the vote. The three-year-old arrives on the back of a close-up second in maiden company at Southwell and he looks sure to pick up a race of this nature soon. The aforementioned Dancing Magic has some strong handicap form to his name this season and he isn't taken lightly on his all-weather debut. Odin Legacy may chase the duo home.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and SKIPPER, who boasts some strong form, looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to open his account on the back of his excellent Southwell second last time out. The Crisfords' newcomer Buon Viaggio could emerge as the one to chase him home, especially if the market vibes are positive, ahead of Dancing Magic who also has the form to have a say if back on his A-game.
This is between Dancing Magic and SKIPPER. Preference is for the latter who has proved most progressive in his three starts.

1st (5) (11/4 +21%) Roberto Caro |
11/4(+21%) | (5) Roberto Caro 11/4, Still lightly raced and made an impressive winning start for his third stable when landing a 12-runner handicap at Thirsk (6f) in July. Similar form from 6 lb higher when fifth of 15 in handicap at Haydock (6f, firm) 25 days ago. In the mix again. 7f winner last term; won over 6f on stable debut and good run last time; a possible. |

2nd (7) (40/1 -21%) Thursday's Child |
40/1(-21%) | (7) Thursday's Child 40/1, Harry Angel filly who won first 2 starts in maiden/novice company and ran a solid race when fourth in a competitive York handicap (7f) in May. However, she's failed to beat a rival in pair of outings subsequently and 62-day break needs to have had positive effect. Two wins earlier this year; not done as well last 2 starts; could do better after a break. |

3rd (1) (9/4 -13%) Eye Of Dubai |
9/4(-13%) | (1) Eye Of Dubai 9/4, Won 7f Catterick novice (heavy) on return in April and only lost race in stewards' room on handicap debut at Newmarket (7f) later that month. Solid in-the-frame efforts more recently, fourth of 9 in handicap at Chester (6.1f) 33 days ago. Merits consideration. Won 7f novice on heavy in April; two good runs in 6f handicaps last two starts; chance. |

4th (3) (10/1 +9%) Irish Nectar |
10/1(+9%) | (3) Irish Nectar 10/1, Signed off last season with 5f maiden and nursery wins in the mud at Nottingham/York. Yet to scale same heights in trio of starts so far this term but return to easier ground than previously this year a plus and this is a drop in class. Two wins on soft over 5f last autumn; fared less well this term; going suits; a possible. |

5th (2) (4/1 -78%) Valentine Catcher |
4/1(-78%) | (2) Valentine Catcher 4/1, Progressive sort who landed the first of his 3 starts as a juvenile and, following 8 months off, marked himself down as potentially useful when winning 8-runner handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, good) 16 days ago. Still unexposed and he's very much of interest again. Novice winner last term (6f, soft); won on h'cap debut last time; progressive; chance. |

6th (6) (11/1 +21%) Princess Alex |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Princess Alex 11/1, Left her reappearance in her wake when landing handicaps at Haydock/Beverley earlier this year. Hit hard by the assessor and not figured since, eighth of 11 in handicap at Ascot (1m) 47 days ago. Returns to sprinting now and her mark is easing. Won over 5f as a 2yo and over 7f/7.5f earlier this year; interesting down in trip. |

7th (4) (15/2 +17%) Hedge Fund |
15/2(+17%) | (4) Hedge Fund 15/2, Dual winner at 2 yrs who resumed with good placed efforts on first 2 starts during the spring. Recent efforts mixed but possibly found the test too much tackling 7f for the first time at Doncaster 26 days ago. This more suitable with forecast ground also in his favour. Won two nurseries in 2023; highly tried this term (good runs first 2 starts); bit to prove. |

8th (8) (20/1 -43%) Knicks |
20/1(-43%) | (8) Knicks 20/1, Finished runner-up on return/yard debut at Catterick (6f, heavy) in April and went one place better at Chester (5f) a month later. Went off too hard returned to that venue when last seen 47 days ago but he's certainly not one to be writing off. Visor left off. In good form in the spring; pulled hard in visor last twice; no headgear now; interesting. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
VALENTINE CATCHER returned from a 248-day absence to score on his handicap bow at Nottingham recently, an effort for which he was subsequently raised 2lb. Tim Easterby's charge remains open to any amount of improvement and, given that he seems versatile regarding ground, it would be no surprise to see him go in again. Eye Of Dubai performed with credit in a class 2 at Chester last month and must be respected down in grade, while Roberto Caro is most appealing of the remainder.
VALENTINE CATCHER made light of an 8-month absence and looked potentially useful in the process when making a winning handicap debut at Nottingham 16 days ago. Nudged up just 2 lb, he remains unexposed and is very much of interest again. Roberto Caro and Eye of Dubai may emerge as the chief threats.
An interesting handicap in which the vote goes to VALENTINE CATCHER who should improve on his reappearance win at Nottingham.

5th (4) (8/1 +43%) Mohave Dancer |
8/1(+43%) | (4) Mohave Dancer 8/1, 40/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 36 days ago. Awful lot to prove at present. Second of 12 in a 1m2f maiden last winter but has achieved nothing in three handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Questionable looked as if his turn might be near when beaten a length and three-quarters here last time out, but he is yet to get his head in front and may have to settle for another place. LUNARSCAPE won for the first time in close to two years here over a mile on heavy ground recently, and an added 2lb might not be enough to stop the follow up. Beau Gars could prove best of the remainder.
QUESTIONABLE was right back to form when second here 3 weeks ago and with 2 subsequent winners coming from that, the race has a solid look to it. She looks the way to go from the same mark with Lunarscape the obvious danger.
This can concern QUESTIONABLE and Lunarscape as the other three all have some serious questions to answer.

With no Treasure Isle to contend with, SARATOGA SPECIAL might be able to take this. Second to the aforementioned Aidan O'Brien-trained colt on her two starts to date, the latest of which was a Listed heat, she looks to have an easier task on her hands now. Jessica Harrington is responsible for the selection and also saddles the 85-rated Passing Phase. Beaten just half-a-length by Sir Yoshi when last seen at Tipperary in May, he had the useful Rudi's Apple a place behind. Snapdragon is the other standout name in the line-up. A £240,000 yearling purchase, the No Nay Never colt was collared close home over 6f at the Curragh recently and should be suited by the drop to 5f. Barrier trial winner Town And Country and Naas fifth Island Girl are others of interest.
SARATOGA SPECIAL sets the bar high for a race like this on her recent second in a Curragh listed contest and should get off the mark at the third time of asking. Snapdragon and the selection's stablemate Passing Phase can fill the places.
Twice runner-up to the same Ballydoyle-trained opponent, SARATOGA SPECIAL(nap) can go one better at the main expense of Snapdragon

16/1(-78%) | (1) Inbetweenus 16/1, 9/1, creditable fifth of 11 in handicap at Beverley (12.1f, good to firm) 30 days ago. Ran better than finishing position suggests on turf last month; could have a say. |

8th (6) (11/1 -120%) Spirit Charmer |
11/1(-120%) | (6) Spirit Charmer 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 100/1, ninth of 11 in novice at Wolverhampton (8.6f). Off 8 months. Not totally written off given connections ahead of handicap debut. Cut little ice in three novice races in late 2023, but may fare better in handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A winner at Salisbury last month, SNEAKY BLINDER made another determined bid back at the same track on his latest start and looks capable of scoring off his current mark on that evidence. Indian Romance produced her best effort so far when runner-up over course and distance and will likely be winning at this level sooner rather than later, while Hardman steps up in distance with a shout after finding only one too good over a mile at Redcar.
HARDMAN ran his best race from his reduced mark when just failing at Redcar 3 weeks ago and can go one better if seeing out this longer trip. Sneaky Blinder and Indian Romance head the dangers.
Unexposed filly INDIAN ROMANCE (nap) was a creditable second over C&D a fortnight ago and could easily have more to offer.

1st (1) (13/2 +7%) Suzette |
13/2(+7%) | (1) Suzette 13/2, Zoustar filly who built on debut promise when third at Pontefract (6f) in June. May not have been ideally suited by the track when filling same spot in maiden at Epsom (7f) 7 weeks ago and switch to nurseries in her favour now. Keeping-on 3rd over 6f; no improvement upped to 7f since; this level is more suitable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/2 -33%) Greek Gift |
5/2(-33%) | (3) Greek Gift 5/2, C&D winner who is being kept busy in recent weeks, taking her tally in nurseries to 2-4 when landing 11-runner event at Beverley (7.4f) 2 weeks ago. Sound claims again up 7 lb. Won 2-4 handicaps (about 7f; good and good to firm); up 7lb for latest; this is harder. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 +26%) Big Bug |
10/3(+26%) | (4) Big Bug 10/3, Placed on 3 of her 5 starts in maidens and matched pick of form when third of 7 in nursery at Lingfield (6f, good to soft) 50 days ago, headed 1f out but keeping on. Longer trip here may bring on a little more progress. All races at sprint trips, keeping on steadily in 3rd at Lingfield latest; can find more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (15/2 +6%) Sealine |
15/2(+6%) | (2) Sealine 15/2, Ten Sovereigns colt who finished fifth of 7 in maiden at Pontefract (6f, good) on qualifying run 22 days ago, running green and closing up late. Step up in trip promises to suit now handicapping and better likely in the offing. Some promise on debut; never sighted since but handicaps more suitable; should stay 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (8/1 -129%) Miss Cast |
8/1(-129%) | (7) Miss Cast 8/1, Acclamation filly who has progressed a little with each start to date, steady headway over 1f out when third of 9 in novice at Thirsk (6f) on qualifying run 43 days ago. Interesting now tackling nurseries up in trip. Promising 3rd behind useful rivals at Thirsk in July; 7f should suit on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (12/1 +0%) Unthinkable |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Unthinkable 12/1, Winner at Beverley in May but record has been patchy subsequently, sixth of 8 in nursery at Catterick (6f, firm, 28/1) 10 days ago. Forecast easier ground here can help but others appeal more overall. Best turf form at 5f on soft; well held last two starts; big trip query upped to 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (9/1 +44%) Uncle Sam |
9/1(+44%) | (8) Uncle Sam 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 8/1, eighth of 10 in nursery at Beverley (5f, good) 14 days ago, weakening over 1f out. More needed up significantly in trip. Has ability but faded back over 5f on handicap debut and now goes the other way in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (12/1 +0%) Treble Winners |
12/1(+0%) | (6) Treble Winners 12/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 7 in maiden at Musselburgh (7.1f, good to firm, 17/2) 27 days ago. Makes handicap debut and the betting may prove a useful guide. Disappointing latest but quite promising 3rd over 7f previously; handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Greek Gift has an obvious chance after a very comfortable success over the extended 7f in a similar race at Beverley a fortnight ago, with a 7lb higher mark looking a fair assessment. However, SUZETTE was just ahead of Karl Burke's filly when they clashed at Redcar on her debut in May and, having shown promise in two starts since, the daughter of Zoustar shades preference on her nursery debut. Miss Cast and Sealine have similar profiles and are others for the shortlist.
MISS CAST showed a little more than previously when third at Thirsk 6 weeks ago and, with the switch to handicaps/step up in trip both rating likely positives, she's selected to take a step forward and come out on top. Greek Gift scored in good style at Beverley 2 weeks ago and is feared, with Sealine and Big Bug completing the shortlist.
The slower ground is a query for Greek Gift and preference is for MISS CAST who should be suited by 7f now she goes handicapping.

4th (5) (2/1 +20%) Consuelo |
2/1(+20%) | (5) Consuelo 2/1, Stoutly-bred filly who was never really going when third of 9 in novice at Kempton (11f) 56 days ago. Slight step up in trip returned to turf can only help her cause. Good third on seasonal debut but laboured and well held when filling same position latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (16/1 -78%) Final Entry |
16/1(-78%) | (1) Final Entry 16/1, Modest winner at 17f over hurdles. First run since leaving Mrs J. Harrington and cheekpieces on, won 5-runner juvenile hurdle at Newton Abbot (16.8f, good to soft, 11/2) on NH debut 39 days ago, driven out. More needed on previous Flat form back on the level. Looked unenthusiastic when placed at Tipperary in May but has won a hurdle for new yard. |

66/1(-100%) | (7) Toni's Legacy 66/1, Fourth of 5 in maiden at this C&D (good to firm, 33/1) on debut 30 days ago, slowly away. Beaten out of sight (possibly with something amiss) when 33-1 for last month's C&D debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BEELEY sets a fair standard in this contest with a rating of 84 after hitting the crossbar on each of her last two starts at Kempton and she can transfer that form to turf in order to go one better. Consuelo has made the frame the last twice and takes a slight step up in trip, so she has to be respected. Of the remainder, Final Entry makes the most appeal after his victory over the smaller obstacles at Newton Abbot.
Despite finishing second 4 times in 5 starts, BEELEY doesn't do an awful lot wrong and this could be the day for her deserved first success. William Walton's pedigree is eye-catching to say the least so he demands a market check, with Consuelo likely to be seen in a better light returned to turf upped slightly in distance.
The Gosden filly BEELEY chased home smart fillies on her two AW starts this summer and she's effective on slow turf too.

11/4(+0%) | (5) Mighty Day 11/4, Twice-raced colt. Sixth of 16 in maiden at Gowran (7f, good, 12/1) 15 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Solid Galway debut on easy ground but not as good on quicker at Gowran; down in grade. |

5th (7) (17/2 -113%) Dr Ali |
17/2(-113%) | (7) Dr Ali 17/2, Lightly-raced gelding. Seventeenth of 18 in maiden at Leopardstown (7.1f, good, 20/1) 7 days ago. Stable in good form so could bounce back with blinkers added. A fine 3rd on debut over 6f here but has gone backwards since and disappointing a week ago. |

40/1(-21%) | (8) Udacha 40/1, Thrice-raced gelding. 125/1, thirteenth of 17 in maiden at Leopardstown (7f, good) 42 days ago. Best of three maiden runs at Leopardstown last time but has a tough task on these terms. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The James Barrett-trained MIGHTY DAY has shaped well enough on both starts to date to suggest he can make it third time lucky. Fifth on his racecourse debut at Galway earlier in the month, the U S Navy Flag colt then backed that up with another solid effort at Gowran Park last time. Granted normal improvement from those initial runs, he should be hard to beat in this grade. Baltray Lady, who finished behind the selection at Galway on debut, improved to finish runner-up at Roscommon on her second outing. However, at her claiming price, she is worse off at the weights with the selection. Dr Ali needs to improve on what he has shown to date, but trainer Ger Lyons places his horses extremely well in these races so the gelding has to be respected.
RUNNINSONOFAGUN holds the edge on form so is taken to open his account at the chief expense of Mighty Day, who rates next best on the figures. Baltray Lady and Dr Ali appeal as the duo who can fight it out for minor honours.
Solid in three maidens runs, including when running on over 6f here last time, RUNNINSONOFAGUN can stay this trip and get off the mark.

SUNSET IN PARIS struggled at Newmarket last week, but John Jenkins' six-year-old won a classified contest at Lingfield before that and another a bold bid is expected back at this level. Daphne May wasn't far behind the selection at Lingfield, although she was partnered by a 7lb claimer on that occasion and reopposes on less favourable terms, while Trackman has been in the mix in classified races at Yarmouth recently and could feature again.
SUNSET IN PARIS can quickly resume winning ways back down in class. Trackman is the obvious threat having had no chance with the winner when second in a similar event at Yarmouth 3 weeks ago, with Daphne May best of the others.
Preference is for SUNSET IN PARIS who has been successful the last three times he has raced down at this level on the AW.

9/1(-38%) | (5) Carderock 9/1, Modest form so far. After 8 weeks off (gelded), well held when eighth of 11 in novice at this course (6f, good to soft, 14/1) 49 days ago. However, he's bred to be suited by this longer trip as he goes handicapping. Ran well for a long way in useful 6f race here (good) in May; bred for 7f+. |

9th (6) (9/2 +36%) Horus |
9/2(+36%) | (6) Horus 9/2, Ran to a similar level as on first 2 starts when fourth of 6 in maiden at Catterick (6f, good to firm, 11/1) 36 days ago. Needs to find more upped further in trip for his nursery debut. Has shown speed for 5f; no improvement for 6f latest; stamina query upped again in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In what looks a closely-matched field, Mecca's Symphony could go well after a running-on third over this trip at Thirsk, and we may see a much better performance when she learns to settle. HORUS is narrowly preferred after his Catterick fourth and as a son of Expert Eye, the seventh furlong may bring the improvement needed. Stan Moore's Thiscouldbefun looks attractively weighted with Joe Leavy's 5lb claim and she is also considered.
After shaping well on her first 2 starts, GEO ended up furthest away from where the race unfolded at Windsor last time, so she remains capable of better as she makes her nursery debut. She is preferred to Sabrimento, who was also better than he could show at Epsom on his latest outing, with Tiete completing the shortlist.
Several of these are potential improvers for the switch to handicaps and CROCODILE RIVER may be the best of them now she's back at 7f.

7/2(+0%) | (5) Rockymountainway 7/2, Winner at Ffos Las (7f, good to soft) in June. 5/1, good second of 8 in handicap at Yarmouth (7f, good) 43 days ago. Respected as a 3-y-o against largely older and more exposed rivals. On the up, excellent second at Yarmouth latest; big player off an unchanged mark. |

2nd (7) (9/2 -29%) Jonny Concrete |
9/2(-29%) | (7) Jonny Concrete 9/2, 9/2 and cheekpieces on first time, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Ayr (7f, good) 19 days ago. Only nudged up 2 lb and should go well again if the headgear continues to work. Cheekpieces on when off the mark at Ayr 19 days ago; not taken lightly with headgear on. |

3rd (1) (11/2 +39%) Rough Diamond |
11/2(+39%) | (1) Rough Diamond 11/2, Latest win at Dundalk in July. Better effort for new yard when sixth of 9 in C&D handicap (good to soft) 8 days ago, nearest finish. Needs to build on that now. Not discredited for his new yard when C&D sixth eight days ago; very much one to consider. |

22/1(-267%) | (4) Strongbowe 22/1, Course winner. Creditable second of 11 in handicap at Thirsk (1m, good, 12/1) 13 days ago. Player off the same mark. Course winner; back on track when second at Thirsk 13 days ago; can go well again. |

5th (3) (5/1 +44%) Harswell Duke |
5/1(+44%) | (3) Harswell Duke 5/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. 22/1, bit below form eighth of 14 in handicap at York (9f, soft) 75 days ago. Down in trip. Runner-up twice off this mark in the spring and Tudhope is often a good booking for the stable. It's now 16 outings since his last win and he comes here below par; others appeal more. |

6th (6) (10/1 -43%) Rory |
10/1(-43%) | (6) Rory 10/1, Unreliable type. Latest win at Musselburgh in July. 13/2, creditable fourth of 9 in C&D handicap at this C&D (good to soft) 8 days ago, merely closing up late after his usual slowish start. Scored at Musselburgh (7f) in July and has continued in good nick; shortlisted. |

9/1(+10%) | (9) Only In Jakarta 9/1, Blinkered first time, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good, 12/1) 13 days ago. Returned to form in first-time blinkers with Thirsk third 13 days ago; needs to back it up. |

First run since leaving Richard Fahey when bit below form sixth of 16 in handicap at Ripon (6f, good to firm, 50/1) 12 days ago, barely adequate test. This trip more suitable. Worth a second look in the betting. Encouraging sixth for Sam England in 6f Ripon h'cap 12 days ago; very much one to consider. |

10th (8) (7/1 +13%) American Star |
7/1(+13%) | (8) American Star 7/1, Latest win at Chester (7f) in July. 16/1, respectable seventh of 15 in handicap at Hamilton (6f, good) 16 days ago, nearest finish. The return to 7f is in his favour. Won at Chester in July and solid Hamilton fifth 16 days ago; can make his presence felt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
JONNY CONCRETE showed a game attitude with first-time cheekpieces added when he made all at Ayr 19 days ago and, having gone well when second on his only previous visit to this venue, another bold showing is expected from Iain Jardine's gelding off just 2lb higher. Dual course winner Strongbowe hinted at a revival at Thirsk last time, although the progressive Rockymountainway may be more of a threat on just her fourth start in a handicap.
STRONGBOWE was a back-to-form second at Thirsk a fortnight ago and has handicapping scope if he can build on that having scored over 1m here last year off 6 lb higher. The main threat may come from 3-y-os Rockymountainway, who travels up from Newmarket, and Jonny Concrete, a recent winner at Ayr.
Progressive ROCKYMOUNTAINWAY (nap) is taken to resume winning ways on the back of her excellent Yarmouth second last time

1st (8) (8/11 +71%) Zambezi Magic |
8/11(+71%) | (8) Zambezi Magic 8/11, Gained a third C&D success when winning here in July. Again ran well when second of 7 in handicap at this course (8f, heavy, 7/2) 15 days ago, clear of rest, so he's a leading contender back up in trip. C&D winner in July and bettered that form when close/clear second over 1m two weeks ago. |

2nd (1) (7/1 -56%) Vellner |
7/1(-56%) | (1) Vellner 7/1, Doubled his tally at Ayr in May. However, below form last 2 starts, fourth of 5 in handicap (7/2) at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm) 2 weeks ago, so he needs to get back on track returned to this longer distance. Came good for this stable in May but needs to bounce back from two below-par efforts. |

3rd (7) (15/2 +38%) Change Of Fortune |
15/2(+38%) | (7) Change Of Fortune 15/2, Remains a maiden but wasn't seen to best effect when fifth of 7 in handicap at this course (8f, heavy, 9/4) 15 days ago, unsuited by a slowly-run race. Runner-up at this C&D in July so he enters calculations. Good second over C&D last month but well held twice since and now 0-21. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (4/1 +43%) City Escape |
4/1(+43%) | (6) City Escape 4/1, Dual C&D winner but fourteen runs since her last success in 2023. Ran one of lesser races when last of 6 in handicap at Yarmouth (10.1f, good, 15/2) 4 days ago, though she could fare better back at this venue. Ran poorly on Sunday but was in fair form beforehand and is very well suited by this C&D. |

5th (3) (11/1 -57%) Bloodhound |
11/1(-57%) | (3) Bloodhound 11/1, After 10 weeks off and in first-time cheekpieces, took a step forward when second of 7 in handicap at this course (8f, heavy, 25/1) 15 days ago. Can make another bold bid on only third start for current yard. Allowed to set steady pace when second here this month but remains on a good mark. |

6th (9) (40/1 -515%) Sievier |
40/1(-515%) | (9) Sievier 40/1, Has offered little in 3 starts so far, last of 5 in novice at Bath (8f, firm, 28/1) 27 days ago. Needs to leave previous efforts behind as she goes back up in trip on her handicap debut. Did not show much in her qualifying races but may get more competitive in handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
DOUBLE RED was well held in second in a class 5 event at Newbury earlier in the month, but the handicapper kindly dropped him 1lb for that display. The son of Belardo has first-time cheekpieces applied and he could be the one to beat. Zambezi Magic has filled the top two places on each of his last two outings, including a C&D victory in July, and it would be no surprise to see him get involved. Bloodhound is another to note.
ZAMBEZI MAGIC has returned to form at this course on his last 2 starts, only narrowly denied over 1m last time, so he is taken to resume winning ways as he goes back up in trip. He can get the better of Bloodhound, who showed improved form when runner-up here on his latest outing, with Change of Fortune also considered.
Resurgent 7yo ZAMBEZI MAGIC (nap) remains very well handicapped on old form and may well be the answer.

16/1(-60%) | (8) Punk Poet 16/1, Excellent fourth of 19 in handicap at Naas (5.9f, good to soft, 66/1) 36 days ago, running on. Significantly back up in trip. Hood on 1st time. Looks competitive on form. Much better known for his Dundalk exploits, shaped well on turf on seasonal debut; hooded. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
While a wide draw is an obvious cause for concern, SEA CHARIOT still looks one of the stronger contenders. The John Joseph Murphy-trained four-year-old should appreciate stepping back up to a mile here having stayed on strongly when third over 7f at Naas last time. Although both career wins have come on the all-weather at Dundalk, the gelding also has some solid form on turf. Annexation is drawn widest of all the runners, but, as a confirmed hold-up horse, that may not be as much of a negative. Expect to see Billy Lee thread his way through the field on the long uphill climb to the finish. The lightly raced Bucaneer's Spirit is one of the lesser exposed contenders. A winner at Cork earlier this month, the three-year-old could still be ahead of the handicapper.
PUNK POET caught the eye dropped down to a barely adequate trip on return from 8 months off when fourth at Naas and could be the answer returned to a suitable distance. This does look competitive, though, with Nituna, Bucaneer's Spirit and Imposing Supreme heading the dangers.
From a low draw IMPOSING SUPREME gets the vote to supplement a Galway festival win achieved off 5lb lower.

11th (6) (28/1 -12%) Pink Stripes |
28/1(-12%) | (6) Pink Stripes 28/1, Poor filly. Remains a maiden after 27 Flat runs. 66/1, tenth of 11 in handicap at Redcar (6f, good to firm) 5 days ago. Third at 40-1 two starts ago but this 27-race maiden is drawn wide today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BATTLEOFBALTIMORE won in this grade over today's distance at Yarmouth in July and reverts to the minimum trip after finishing third over 6f here. Dylan Cunha's inmate has the edge over last week's Wolverhampton winner Bernard Spierpoint on these terms and looks likely to feature at the finish once again. Next Second beat Restricted in classified company at Newcastle last month and could also have a say in proceedings.
NEXT SECOND rates the pick at these weights so looks the way to go on the back of her solid Wolverhampton third behind Bernard Spierpoint who can go well again. Battleofbaltimore is another to enter calculations.
Another chance is given to RESTRICTED, who was poorly positioned last time and is better judged on his C&D second two starts ago.

33/1(-32%) | (4) Greyceful Angel 33/1, Foaled April 16. £65,000 yearling, Dark Angel filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Alexis Zorba. Dam of little account, half-sister to very smart winner up to 1m Gorella. Late foal; £65,000 yearling; some appeal on pedigree but might need the outing. |

10th (8) (66/1 -371%) My O My |
66/1(-371%) | (8) My O My 66/1, Foaled January 31. 80,000 gns foal, 105,000 gns yearling, Sottsass filly. Dam, ran once in France, half-sister to smart winner up to 1½m Kapour out of useful 1m/9f winner Kitcat. 105,000gns yearling; her breeding is about longer trips on both sides of pedigree. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HOLD A DREAM seems sure to prove popular after being sent off joint-favourite on her Sandown debut, when staying on over 5f for a one-length second, and that experience and step in trip could make her the one to beat today. Newcomer Motabaah has to be of interest and is bred to be speedy, so she is worth a market watch, while Pontefract second Glamour Show and Blue Point filly Sky Majesty are others to consider.
This looks a deep maiden with MAISSARA rather leaping off the page given her pedigree and sales price. Sky Majesty also ticks plenty of boxes on debut, with Hold A Dream sure to improve on the form of her opening effort now tackling 6f.
The market will help sort out some choice-looking newcomers butGLAMOUR SHOW already has C&D form in the book and gets the vote.

9/2(+68%) | (1) John Chard Vc 9/2, Twelfth of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (12.5f, 40/1) 7 days ago. Back down in trip. This is a drop in class with Tudhope doing the steering. Check the betting. Winless since 2022 but he arrives in decent form; needs considering back down in trip. |

3rd (6) (8/1 -220%) Rose Branch |
8/1(-220%) | (6) Rose Branch 8/1, Winner at Hamilton (8.3f) in June. Good second of 7 in handicap (4/1) at Sandown (1¼m, good to soft) 35 days ago. Has to be taken seriously. Excellent second at Sandown latest; form franked so merits serious consideration up 1lb. |

4th (10) (11/1 -47%) Dandy's Angel |
11/1(-47%) | (10) Dandy's Angel 11/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Creditable second of 12 in handicap (13/2) at this course (11f, good to soft) 8 days ago. One to consider. C&D scorer; good second here eight days ago; must enter calculations off the same mark. |

5th (3) (13/2 +19%) Golden Melody |
13/2(+19%) | (3) Golden Melody 13/2, Course winner. 6/1, fifth of 6 in handicap at Hamilton (9f, heavy) 6 days ago. Had finished a close second at Chester prior to that. Course winner; solid fifth in Hamilton handicap six days ago; she's one for the shortlist. |

6th (8) (7/2 +13%) Bateman |
7/2(+13%) | (8) Bateman 7/2, Course winner (7f, good to soft) in July. Might have found a third run in relatively quick succession too much when eighth of 11 in handicap (10/3) at Pontefract (1¼m, good) 22 days ago. Remains one to be interested in. Eighth (possibly found run coming too quickly) at Pontefract latest; worth another chance. |

9th (4) (10/1 -186%) Gainsbourg |
10/1(-186%) | (4) Gainsbourg 10/1, Won 9-runner handicap at Hamilton (8.3f, good, 8/1) 47 days ago. Had the run of that race from the front but he's only been nudged up 2 lb. Refitted with cheekpieces when scoring at Hamilton latest; up 2lb but not taken lightly. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DANDY'S ANGEL has posted her best efforts when faced with a stiff finish and the well-handicapped mare looks worth another chance back down in trip given she is 1lb well-in this time. Sandown runner-up Rose Branch has a similar profile and is a must for consideration on these terms, while previous course winner Golden Melody is not ruled out from a competitive mark.
ROSE BRANCH ran well from a similar mark at Sandown and is taken to resume winning ways for Hugo Palmer. It might be worth forgiving Bateman a lesser run last time as he'd started well for Gemma Tutty prior to that. Dandy's Angel is next on the list.
A few with chances but ROSE BRANCH came in an excellent runner-up at Sandown last time and with that form reading well she gets the vote

Has had a breathing operation ahead of this return to the level. Could go well. Fair hurdler (five wins); not seen on the Flat since 2022 but still looks interesting. |

8th (9) (3/1 +57%) Mimasusa |
3/1(+57%) | (9) Mimasusa 3/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Good fifth of 12 in handicap (15/2) at Kempton (16f) 15 days ago. Makes turf debut. Second handicap run was better than the first; turf debut today; may progress again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (50/1 -400%) Lumberjack |
50/1(-400%) | (4) Lumberjack 50/1, 100/1, off 7 months and first run since leaving Seamus Durack when fourth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (16f) 15 days ago. Others more persuasive. Outran 100-1 odds when fourth on recent stable debut (2m, AW) but others look safer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
HUMANISTE was far from disgraced when finishing fourth over track and trip on his penultimate start and he produced an even better effort to make the frame at Lingfield last time. Joe Tickle's nine-year-old was dropped 1lb for that display and he gets the nod. Lumberjack made a pleasant start for the Barry Brennan stable as he finished fourth at Kempton earlier in the month and could have a say if he translates that form to turf. Queen Of Steel is a player based on her second at Lingfield two starts ago.
TARBAT NESS has a poor strike rate but continues in good form and given his only win came in this race last year he could be well placed to strike. Triple Nickle, on an even longer losing run but who went close here last time, is feared most ahead of Mr Tambourine Man.
The suggestion is last year's winner TARBAT NESS, who is admirably consistent and won't mind what the weather does.

33/1(+34%) | (9) Maxwell Smart 33/1, Eleventh of 12 in handicap (66/1) at Bellewstown (8f, good) 56 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Can give a good account if shrugging off latest effort. Well beaten all starts up to a mile; has to improve loads for step up in trip. |

11/4(+50%) | (8) Highland Bells 11/4, Good 5½ lengths second of 9 to Empress Alma in handicap (9/1) at Down Royal (13f, good) 41 days ago. Well in the mix eased 1 lb. Beaten 5.5l by Empress Alma last time but is 12lb better off today so can get closer. |

7th (5) (4/1 +80%) T Or Coffey |
4/1(+80%) | (5) T Or Coffey 4/1, Tongue strap/cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, good third of 14 in juvenile hurdle at Killarney (17f, soft, 80/1) on NH debut 7 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Disappointing on last Flat start at Sligo; good hurdle run since and has to build on that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Although unable to complete the hat-trick when only fifth at Galway last month, EMPRESS ALMA can resume winning ways. The Gavin Cromwell-trained filly ran on strongly close home in a manner that suggested she will enjoy this stiffer test. Given that that latter race was in a much higher grade, the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor should find this assignment easier. Highland Bells was no match for Empress Alma at Down Royal on his most recent outing but is considerably better off at these weights. If he has improved in the interim, the Michael Mulvany-trained gelding can get much closer. Recent Hamilton winner Gregorina will find this harder but has to be respected on the back of that success.
A tight-knit handicap in which EMPRESS ALMA edges the vote on the back of her good Galway fifth when set a lot to do. Hamilton scorer Gregorina heads the list of dangers, although in-form trio Highland Bells, Northern Sonas and Fine Print all need factoring in too.
Having gone close over just short of this trip at Sligo last time, FINE PRINT can get off the mark off 1lb lower.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The only form worthy of a mention here is the Ascot third of Saariselka, but she was beaten close to eight lengths at the line and may be susceptible to a decent newcomer. William Haggas and Tom Marquand teamed up to win this race in 2021 with Sense Of Duty and they have a good chance again with Blue Point filly BLUE SECRET, who cost 150,000gns as a yearling, and she may get the better of Kebili, who looks the Hannon first string under Pat Dobbs.
SAARISELKA made an encouraging start under very considerate handling when third in a Ascot novice and can put that experience to good use. The well-bred Blue Secret holds an entry for the Rockfel Stakes and is the standout newcomer.
Ed Walker's SAARISELKA was short in the market for her debut at Ascot and she didn't shape at all badly after being slowly away.

Significantly back up in trip. Merits consideration. Resumed winning ways here eight days ago; very much one to consider under a 4lb penalty. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DETECTIVE saves his best for this venue and this six-time course winner is an appealing option under a 4lb penalty for last week's return to form over 7f here. This longer trip holds no fears for the selection and it would come as no surprise to see him stamp his authority under top-weight. Bushfire is feared from a competitive current rating, while others to consider include Solara and She's Got Bottle.
Iain Jardine's DINGWALL was better than the result at Ayr last time and can show he's still on a good mark now. Last week's course scorer Detective is second choice ahead of Hugo Palmer handicap newcomer Solara.
It could pay to side with Iain Jardine's DINGWALL who has thrived since hooded and deserves extra credit for his recent good Ayr fourth

That was a sound return from an absence. Fine effort on return over 2m at Tramore and if improving from that should play a part. |

11/2(+27%) | (12) Lady Kai 11/2, 11/4 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 12-runner handicap at Killarney (11.5f, good) 43 days ago, cosily. Remains of interest for yard having a really good summer. Off the mark at Killarney over 1m4f on seasonal debut in first-time cheekpieces; player. |

16/1(+52%) | (7) Whispering Hopes 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 14/1, tenth of 14 in handicap at Leopardstown (15f, good to soft) 35 days ago. Was too keen over nearly 2m at Leopardstown; a chance if she settles. |

12/1(-50%) | (5) Butterfly Garden 12/1, Snapped losing sequence in 11-runner handicap at Tramore (12f, good to soft) 12 days ago. 7 lb rise asks a new question but she's clearly in good order. A 7lb rise for Tramore win is stiff but has run well over C&D off a higher mark before. |

12th (10) (16/1 +20%) Bynx |
16/1(+20%) | (10) Bynx 16/1, 11 lengths seventh of 11 to Butterfly Garden in handicap (13/2) at Tramore (12f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Should strip fitter with that under her belt. Well held on Flat return at Tramore lately; can improve but others preferred. |

22nd (21) (100/1 -100%) Santa Catarina |
100/1(-100%) | (21) Santa Catarina 100/1, Fell in novice hurdle at Sligo (17.8f, soft, 28/1) on NH debut 21 days ago. Tongue strap back on and she's going the wrong way on the level. Regressive maiden fell early on hurdling debut last time; not easy to make a case for. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Although successful just once from 31 starts, ENQUIRE WITHIN has been running well enough to suggest that she can make her presence felt. A definite positive is the fact that her sole win came over course and distance. Wesley Joyce, who was in the saddle on that occasion, has also been booked for the ride here. The well-bred Lady Kai landed some tidy bets when making a winning reappearance at Killarney last month. Only 5lb higher now, the Ross O'Sullivan-trained mare might be improving fast enough to overcome that rise. On the evidence of his latest two starts, Tannery Park should really appreciate this stiff test of stamina. His trainer Barry Connell was amongst the winners on the Flat at Roscommon recently.
A big field but the eye is drawn to EAGLES REIGN, who was talented enough to finish second in a Fred Winter and on that basis, his Flat mark looks very lenient back from a break. Elzaamsan and Paradise Lost are a couple of potential threats.
Though raised 5lb for winning over 1m4f at Killarney last time, LADY KAI can improve enough from that seasonal debut and score again.

Has remained in form since, third of 10 in handicap at Ascot (12f, good to firm) 19 days ago, despite missing the break. Major player from his lower AW mark. Out of the frame in all four starts on the AW and may prefer a bit further than this now. |

9/2(+10%) | (13) Who's Glen 9/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/4, very good fourth of 13 in Racing League handicap at Newcastle (12.4f) 7 days ago, running on. 22/1(+12%) | (4) Desert Emperor 22/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2021. 9/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 28 days ago. Up in trip. Becoming well treated if he can revive. Off 20 months before returning in June; trip should suit but still has enough to prove. |

11th (7) (11/1 -29%) Natzor |
11/1(-29%) | (7) Natzor 11/1, AW winner in May and arrives at the top of his game, third of 11 in Racing League handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) 7 days ago. No reason why he won't go well again. 1-18 but ran well over 1m2f at Newcastle last week; stays 1m4f and holds each-way claims. |

12th (8) (33/1 -136%) Damascus Steel |
33/1(-136%) | (8) Damascus Steel 33/1, Down in trip but displayed a decisive turn of foot when winning 10-runner handicap at Kempton (12f) 15 days ago, always holding on. Raised 3 lb in a better race but he's clearly in good order. Both wins this year at Kempton, the latest 15 days ago; this looks tougher. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Damascus Steel bounced back to form when scoring at Kempton earlier in the month and providing he can back that triumph up, he could get into contention off a 3lb higher mark. However, the vote goes to LA PULGA, who only failed to make all by half a length when second over this trip at Newcastle last week and he goes off an unchanged mark. Charlie Johnston's five-year-old may only need to produce a similar performance in order to go one better. Natzor is another to keep an eye on.
DANCING IN PARIS has built up a very solid record in handicaps this term, unlucky not to finish a shade closer at Ascot 3 weeks ago and he looks weighted to strike returned to the AW. Who's Glen is unexposed after just 4 starts and looks the pick of the 3-y-os, with La Pulga another to take seriously having finished ahead of a few of these when second in a Racing League handicap last week.
The vote goes to LA PULGA (nap), who is 3lb well in following his close second at Newcastle a week ago with two of these behind.

16th (2) (17/2 -6%) Fool's Gold |
17/2(-6%) | (2) Fool's Gold 17/2, Lightly-raced winner. Gelded/off 10 months before a good fourth of 7 in handicap at Haydock (5f, good) 54 days ago. Significantly up in trip and not ruled out. Speedy juvenile and returned over 5f; stamina is the burning issue now raised to 7f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
An open contest in which many will fancy their chances, including Bona Fortuna, who completed a double at Windsor last month, and Scarlet Lady. The latter romped home at Yarmouth recently and is officially 8lb well-in today, although this is undoubtedly more demanding. Rating was narrowly denied over C&D last time and she might improve for the addition of first-time cheekpieces, while handicap debutant Murashah is one to monitor closely in the betting. However, a chance is taken on FOOL'S GOLD . On target at Windsor last September, he went on to make little impact in the Flying Childers just 11 days later. There were signs of encouragement on his seasonal return, though, and a step up to 7f could be the making of him.
Lots with chances but BONA FORTUNA hasn't looked back since joining Mick Appleby and is fancied to make light of a 3 lb rise and go 3-3 for the yard now stepping up to 7f for the first time. Scarlet Lady goes unpenalised for her recent Yarmouth victory so rates an obvious threat, with handicap debutant Murashah and the handily-weighted Mercian Warrior also well in the mix. Fool's Gold completes the shortlist.
This is very open. A chance is taken on NORTH VIEW who ran well at Ascot in a race that suited those ridden more handily than he was.

33/1(-65%) | (4) Zip 33/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 22/1, bit below form eighth of 18 in handicap at York (7f, good to soft) 48 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Others preferred. C&D winner on a handy mark; drops in grade; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (20/1 -43%) Another Investment |
20/1(-43%) | (6) Another Investment 20/1, 11/1, good 2½ lengths second of 12 to Grand Karat in handicap at this C&D 31 days ago, running on. Can give a good account. Chased home Grand Karat over C&D last month; may not reverse placings despite better terms. |

11th (3) (16/1 -146%) Great Max |
16/1(-146%) | (3) Great Max 16/1, Coming good for this yard, winning last 2 starts at Haydock/Doncaster. Remains with loads of handicapping scope on previous form. Impressed at Doncaster 12 days ago; one to be interested in despite latest 7lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (9/1 +44%) Racingbreaks Ryder |
9/1(+44%) | (10) Racingbreaks Ryder 9/1, On a losing run but shaped well when placed at Goodwood/Windsor last 2 starts and high on the shortlist off the same mark with Oisin Murphy taking over. Good efforts the last twice but he's copped another wide stall this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (33/1 -136%) Silver Trumpet |
33/1(-136%) | (14) Silver Trumpet 33/1, C&D winner. 3 wins from 8 runs this year. Latest win at Salisbury in May. 16/1, good second of 13 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 28 days ago, beaten only by one on a sharper upward curve. Respected. Three 7f wins this season; better than ever when 2nd over 8.6f latest; e-w shout again. |

14th (9) (10/1 +38%) Smoky Mountain |
10/1(+38%) | (9) Smoky Mountain 10/1, 11/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, wasted no time getting back to form when third of 14 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 15 days ago. Not taken lightly. Cheekpieces sparked revival at Kempton last time; work to do with Ayr Harbour on that run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The hat-trick seeking Great Max struck by two lengths at Doncaster on his latest outing and he should make another bold bid off a 7lb higher rating. However, GRAND KARAT looks the way to go. Harry Charlton's three-year-old had Another Investment (second) behind when scoring by two and a half lengths over this track and trip last month, and he has scope for further improvement on only his fourth handicap start. Noodle Mission completes the shortlist.
This looks ultra competitive with RACINGBREAKS RYDER shading the vote having shaped very well off this mark the last twice. Great Max, Kodi Lion and Noodle Mission make up the shortlist.
Unexposed 3yos Grand Karat and KODI LION look the pair to focus on and the selection can confirm the promise of his Ascot victory.

1st (7) (6/1 -20%) Devoirs Choice |
6/1(-20%) | (7) Devoirs Choice 6/1, 9/2, came good in 9-runner handicap at Redcar (1m, good to firm) 19 days ago, overcoming pace bias. Much respected after only a 2 lb rise. It wasn't pretty but got there in the end to get off the mark in a 1m handicap at Redcar. |

2nd (2) (20/1 -82%) Hale End |
20/1(-82%) | (2) Hale End 20/1, Three wins from 9 runs this year. 5/1, creditable 1½ lengths fifth of 9 to Devoirs Choice in handicap at Redcar (1m, good to firm) 19 days ago, not ideally placed. Won two of his last four starts; didn't get the strong pace he needs when fifth at Redcar. |

3rd (12) (10/3 +33%) Never Better |
10/3(+33%) | (12) Never Better 10/3, Winner of novice at Kempton (7f) in March. Third of 9 in handicap at Southwell (1m) in April. Returns from a break as an unexposed sort and no reason on breeding why he won't prove as effective back on turf. Close off this mark in April latest and might well improve for being gelded; turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (11/1 -10%) How's The Guvnor |
11/1(-10%) | (11) How's The Guvnor 11/1, Hooded first time, creditable second of 7 in handicap at Salisbury (1m, good to firm, 9/1) 36 days ago, keeping on from too far back. Underwhelming in handicaps and no threat to the winner when second at Salisbury. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (11/1 -10%) Pressure's On |
11/1(-10%) | (9) Pressure's On 11/1, Good second on reappearance in April but has performed a little below that level on both outings since. No luck in running last time at Lingfield and could be interesting over this longer trip. |

6th (1) (12/1 +0%) Youarenotforgiven |
12/1(+0%) | (1) Youarenotforgiven 12/1, Course winner. Latest win at Leicester in July. Shaped as if still in good form when sixth of 10 in handicap (11/1) at Chepstow (1m, good) 21 days ago, not ideally placed. Struggled under a penalty last time and has a 2lb higher mark to contend with here. |

7th (4) (8/1 +43%) Island Bandit |
8/1(+43%) | (4) Island Bandit 8/1, C&D winner. Fourth of 6 in handicap at Sandown (1m, good to firm, 6/1) 29 days ago. Back on his last successful mark. Dual course winner and dangerously handicapped should he get his act together. |

8th (3) (80/1 -100%) Master Of Combat |
80/1(-100%) | (3) Master Of Combat 80/1, Placed a few times on AW at the start of the year but well held back on turf after a break at York last month. Effective on turf but ran a quiet race at York on his return from an absence. |

9th (8) (7/1 -40%) Rogue Encore |
7/1(-40%) | (8) Rogue Encore 7/1, Fairly useful form. 5/1, good third of 11 in handicap at Windsor (1m, good) 45 days ago. Remains unexposed after only 4 starts. Close up on handicap debut and could step up again having since been gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (17/2 -6%) Rich |
17/2(-6%) | (6) Rich 17/2, Course winner. Shaped well when third of 13 in 7f course handicap (good to firm) 65 days ago, first home in her group. On the shortlist. Placed off her reduced mark here last time and returning to 1m could well be a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (14/1 +30%) Brindley |
14/1(+30%) | (13) Brindley 14/1, Shaped well when second over C&D (good to firm) last month but has disappointed twice since, latterly a Racing League contest at Chepstow. Needs a return to this venue to have a positive effect. Beaten a neck over C&D before two quieter runs over 7f; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (125/1 -279%) Legend Of Leros |
125/1(-279%) | (5) Legend Of Leros 125/1, First run since leaving Marco Botti when last of 14 in handicap (33/1) at Kempton (7f) 15 days ago. Needs to have come on a lot from that. Mostly well held in handicaps and that was very much the case on stable debut at Kempton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (22/1 -57%) My Ambition |
22/1(-57%) | (14) My Ambition 22/1, Got off the mark for the season in 12-runner handicap (6/4) at Bath (1m, good to firm) last month and shaped as if still in form when fourth of 11 at Salisbury a fortnight ago. Four wins but has never defied this high a mark and didn't threaten to do so last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (10) (12/1 -50%) Glendower |
12/1(-50%) | (10) Glendower 12/1, Fairly useful maiden who bumped into a handicap blot on his 1¼m Salisbury handicap debut 14 days ago. Drops back in trip now with the booking of William Buick catching the eye. Hammered in 2nd the last twice; unlikely that he faces such progressive rivals this time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The form of ROGUE ENCORE's Windsor third has worked out well, with the runner-up going in twice since then. Peter Chapple-Hyam's gelding is just 1lb higher now and he can step forward on this second start following wind surgery. Devoirs Choice, a narrow victor at Redcar recently, appeals as a likely contender having been nudged up just 2lb in the ratings, while others to note include Never Better, Glendower and Rich.
NEVER BETTER returns from a break as a 3-y-o with the profile of one who should have more to offer so he's the suggestion. Fellow 3-y-o Devoirs Choice has only been nudged up 2 lb for his recent Redcar success and is second choice ahead of Rich, who shaped well here last time, and Glendower, the mount of William Buick.
Ed Dunlop's PRESSURE'S ON has shown he can threaten off this mark and Lingfield last time didn't go to plan at all.

1st (12) (15/2 +17%) Northern Spirit |
15/2(+17%) | (12) Northern Spirit 15/2, Eleven runs since last win in 2023 but eased in weights and ran best race of the campaign when second of 14 in handicap at Newcastle (5f, 9/1) 7 days ago. Return to 6f in his favour and he's another who needs factoring into calculations. Ran well for second over 5f last week; 2lb well in and the return to 6f can help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (11/1 -10%) Habooba |
11/1(-10%) | (6) Habooba 11/1, Firmly back on track returned to all-weather, typically ridden positively to land handicaps at Kempton/Wolverhampton (both at 6f) in recent months. Handicapper applies further pressure but she's of interest again in hat-trick bid. Chasing a hat-trick after front-running wins at Kempton and Wolverhampton; other pace here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (8/1 +6%) Kodiac Thriller |
8/1(+6%) | (7) Kodiac Thriller 8/1, AW novice winner in December who, having been gelded, ran right up to his best when second of 12 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 10 days ago. Entitled to be thereabouts again on tapeta debut. Good 2nd at Windsor last time but he was always well placed; this might not set up so well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (12/1 -20%) Havana Rum |
12/1(-20%) | (8) Havana Rum 12/1, Latest win at Pontefract in July. Good second of 8 in handicap (9/2) at Chepstow (6.1f, good to soft) 21 days ago, running on. Consistency hard to knock and each-way claims despite a wide draw. Tapeta win as a 2yo; in good form this year and chance if not blowing it at the start. |

5th (14) (40/1 -186%) Wichahpi |
40/1(-186%) | (14) Wichahpi 40/1, 2 wins from 6 runs this year. 12/1, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Carlisle (5.8f, good to soft) 8 days ago. Remains unexposed on artificial surfaces but this demands more under a penalty. Not favourably treated under a penalty for last week's Carlisle win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (9/1 -13%) Grenham Bay |
9/1(-13%) | (10) Grenham Bay 9/1, Latest win at Kempton (6f) in March. 16/1, good third of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago, keeping on. This looks a little tougher. Should be happier back on AW and Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (28/1 +30%) Antiphon |
28/1(+30%) | (5) Antiphon 28/1, Narrow winner at Windsor in the spring and plenty of decent efforts in defeat since, perhaps not helped by being pestered for the lead when fifth of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good) 20 days ago. Starts out for new yard now and likely he'll face pressure on the front end again. Not getting much help from the handicapper; makes stable debut in a warm race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (85/40 +61%) Jungle Land |
85/40(+61%) | (2) Jungle Land 85/40, Kodiac gelding who finished runner-up on first 2 starts and made most of good opportunity when making all in 12-runner maiden at Redcar (6f, soft) back in May. Joined new connections for 60,000 gns in July and he boasts a positive profile moving into handicaps. Three runs in May, winning well on 3rd occasion; sold 60,000gns last month; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (11/1 -10%) Be Frank |
11/1(-10%) | (1) Be Frank 11/1, Dual 6f winner who shaped well in some strong earl-season handicaps on turf. Respectable fourth in first-time cheekpieces when fourth of 10 in handicap at Doncaster (6f) in June and he's very interesting having joined new yard for 56,000 gns in July. Promising on turf for H Candy; sold 56,000gns last month; interesting contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (4/1 +47%) Sondad |
4/1(+47%) | (11) Sondad 4/1, Progressive 3-y-o who opened his account at Ripon (6f) in July and he found plenty for pressure when following up on handicap debut over C&D 4 weeks ago. That unlikely to prove his limit and worth a look up 4 lb. Improving with experience and the likely strong pace will play to his strengths; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (3) (33/1 -32%) Expert Agent |
33/1(-32%) | (3) Expert Agent 33/1, Latest win at Windsor in July. 28/1, eleventh of 16 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago, meeting some trouble but never a major threat. Little bit more needed. Windsor win last month was followed by lesser run, albeit in a good race; return to AW a +. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (66/1 -313%) Lihou |
66/1(-313%) | (13) Lihou 66/1, Course winner who has steadily eased in the weights this year and capitalised on drop in grade when winning 11-runner handicap at Leicester (6f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Remains with plenty of handicapping scope up just 2 lb but this understandably tougher. Latest Leicester win came in a Class 5 but is working out well; tough task from stall 14. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Jungle Land shed his maiden tag in commanding style at Redcar in May and the son of Kodiac has since joined the George Boughey stable. He should mount a strong challenge, but he could come out second-best to the in-form HABOOBA. The daughter of Nyquist secured a double at Wolverhampton earlier in the month and a 4lb rise could prove to be on the lenient side, so she gets the vote. Kodiac Thriller is another to take seriously.
BE FRANK's early-season form proved particularly strong so, starting out for new connections from a handy draw, he could well be worth siding with to come out on top on his AW debut. Unsurprisingly, plenty in opposition hold solid claims, dangers headed up by Sondad, Kodiac Thriller and Jungle Land. Northern Spirit also commands a second look operating from an attractive mark.
Sondad hasn't reached his ceiling yet but BE FRANK starts out for Ian Williams off a tempting handicap mark.

1st (1) (11/10 +20%) Billiegee |
11/10(+20%) | (1) Billiegee 11/10, 17/2, resumed progress returning from 3 months off when winning 6-runner handicap at Doncaster (11.9f, good to firm) just under 6 weeks ago, running on. Capable of better still, she's high on the shortlist. Second win from six starts with a workmanlike success at Doncaster; bang there. |

2nd (2) (9/2 -13%) Salik |
9/2(-13%) | (2) Salik 9/2, Just fair form in 5 runs so far, taking a small step forward while leaving the impression he's still learning when third of 7 in handicap at Haydock (10.4f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Third of seven in a 1m2f handicap latest and this longer trip looks favourable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (6/4 +25%) Al Khawaneej River |
6/4(+25%) | (4) Al Khawaneej River 6/4, Winner at Windsor in May. Seemingly didn't quite stay the longer trip when fourth of 8 in handicap (10/3) at this course (13.3f, good to soft) 7 weeks ago. Can resume his progress back at 1½m with the booking of Buick catching the eye. In form; back in trip and in his own age group, he might be the one. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A step up in trip worked a treat for BILLIEGEE, who scored over today's 1m4f distance at Doncaster last month. James Ferguson's filly scored a shade cosily on that occasion and she looks capable of defying a 4lb rise in the ratings. Al Khawaneej River has posted two solid efforts in defeat since opening his account at Windsor in May and he's feared most, while Salik is a potential improver now upped in distance.
A tricky puzzle to solve despite the small field but BILLIEGEE resumed her progress upped to this trip when scoring at Doncaster last month and with further improvement anticipated, James Ferguson's filly shades the vote over Al Khawaneej River, who seemingly didn't quite stay when upped to 13.3f here 7 weeks ago. Salik can fill out third.
Back to a shorter trip and back against his own age group, AL KHAWANEEJ RIVER might be the answer to a tight handicap.

2nd (11) (2/1 +11%) Warmonger |
2/1(+11%) | (11) Warmonger 2/1, Improving sort who landed a hat-trick with emphatic success in 9-runner handicap at Kempton (16f) 22 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. The one to beat despite a 10 lb weights hike. Bids for a four-timer off a 10lb higher mark; folly to rule out further progress. |

25/1(-56%) | (1) Solent Gateway 25/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Very good second of 7 in handicap at Nottingham (16f, good, 14/1) 16 days ago. Needs considering. 5lb below his last winning mark and has won over this far on Tapeta; respected. |

11th (4) (12/1 -20%) Cardano |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Cardano 12/1, 1 win from 3 runs this year. Won 12-runner handicap (40/1) at Chelmsford City (13.3f) 53 days ago, holding on gamely. Up in trip. Merits consideration. 2lb higher than when winning at Chelmsford last time, but still needs to prove his stamina. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Warmonger has been making hay in lower-grade contests, but will find life tougher after being raised 10lb for winning at Kempton, and SHAGPYLE is marginally preferred. The Frankel filly wasn't disgraced in a more competitive race at Newbury last time and is only 1lb higher than when successful at Ffos Las before that. Manxman has placed in all three starts so far this year and the return to this longer trip will suit, while Solent Gateway is expected to go well from the top of the handicap on the back of finishing second at Nottingham.
Lots with chances but Sir Mark Prescott's WARMONGER is improving in leaps and bounds so can defy a 10 lb weights hike for his commanding Kempton success and rack up his four-timer. The Crisfords' Manxman heads the list of dangers on the back of his good Ascot third with Solent Gateway, Cardano, Robusto and Cinnodin also in the mix.
It may be worth siding with SOLENT GATEWAY who has won over 2m on Tapeta at Wolverhampton. He remains 5lb below his last winning mark.

28/1(-12%) | (8) Seamore 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seemed unsuited by the track when sixth of 8 on handicap debut (12/1) at Epsom (8.5f, good) 42 days ago but mark still appeals as stiff. Easily best run was her debut; latest start was handicap debut at Epsom. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (80/1 -220%) Versatile |
80/1(-220%) | (10) Versatile 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/1, first run since leaving Mrs J. Harrington when fifth of 6 in novice at Ripon (8f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Not easy to make a case for. Bought for 15,500gns; only fifth of six on stable debut in a ropey 1m novice at Ripon. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ONE COOL DREAMER has proved a different proposition since adopting more positive tactics, as evidenced with victories at Windsor and Newmarket of late. A hat-trick looks a strong possibility off just a 4lb higher mark than his latest success and Alan King's charge shades the verdict over Laura Bay. The daughter of New Bay regained the winning thread in ready fashion at Sandown last month and a 4lb rise in the ratings is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. Wootton's Jewel is also noted returning to his only winning distance.
ONE COOL DREAMER has been on the upgrade of late and looks up to defying another 4 lb rise to complete the hat-trick. Charming Whisper has shaped better than the bare result on his last 2 outings and also makes the shortlist, with recent Sandown scorer Laura Bay also in the mix.
There should be a big run in CHARMING WHISPER (nap) who has not had the luck on his last two outings.

1st (3) (11/2 +45%) Oliver Show |
11/2(+45%) | (3) Oliver Show 11/2, Good start for this yard with a pair of 7f AW wins in the spring. Creditable third of 11 in handicap (14/1) at Yarmouth (7f, good) 35 days ago. Has first-time cheekpieces added to regular tongue tie. Considered under Loughnane. Improving for G Boughey and there could be more to come back on AW; cheekpieces on now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (16/1 -191%) Great Acclaim |
16/1(-191%) | (8) Great Acclaim 16/1, Fourth 1m turf win of a very productive summer when seeing off 8 rivals in a Racing League event at Windsor a fortnight ago. Placed previous AW start. Further progress can't be discounted. One of 2 solid contenders for London & The South. Won four of his last six starts; battled well last time but he's up 6lb in a better race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (14) (11/1 +21%) Glam Squad |
11/1(+21%) | (14) Glam Squad 11/1, Winner of handicaps over 7f at Yarmouth (good to soft) and 8.6f at Wolverhampton (Racing League) in recent weeks but his run of progressive form came to a shuddering halt at Newcastle last week. Won a Racing League event four weeks ago but well held in this grade last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (16/1 -14%) Pjanoo |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Pjanoo 16/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in April. Creditable third of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 7/2) 9 days ago. Drawn widest. Two-time winner, including Tapeta, but drawn widest and needs to raise game to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (5/2 +69%) Magnum Opus |
5/2(+69%) | (6) Magnum Opus 5/2, Useful effort to make second handicap start a winning one at Pontefract (1m) in July. 5/1, caught too far back to land a serious blow when seventh of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 28 days ago. Likely has bigger performances in him. Lightly raced 3yo with two 1m wins on his record; stayed on late at Wolverhampton latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (28/1 -229%) Vultar |
28/1(-229%) | (1) Vultar 28/1, Upped his game sent handicapping on AW, scoring twice at Kempton (7f/1m) and finding further improvement when second there in April. Progress has stalled on turf since but no surprise were he to fare a lot better back on AW. Good chance on this spring's AW form; quiet on turf since but could revive back on Tapeta. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (9/2 +59%) Helm Rock |
9/2(+59%) | (4) Helm Rock 9/2, Useful performances when winning twice at this time last year, including a Racing League handicap on tapeta. Operating below that level this year but starting to look dangerously well handicapped if first-time cheekpieces (which are added to his regular tongue tie) help to spark a revival. On a good mark and in better form than his figures suggest; now gets cheekpieces/O Murphy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (9/1 +55%) Londoner |
9/1(+55%) | (9) Londoner 9/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. 22/1, respectable fourth of 12 in Racing League handicap at Newcastle (7f) 7 days ago, faring best of those held up. No chance in a slowly run race at Newcastle last week but did okay in the circumstances. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (66/1 +0%) Starliner |
66/1(+0%) | (13) Starliner 66/1, Fairly useful 7f turf winner in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien but down the field in a pair of 1m handicaps since joining Linda Perratt. Others are much more obvious. Ex-Irish 3yo who looked a handful when unplaced at Windsor two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (17/2 +39%) Tropez Power |
17/2(+39%) | (2) Tropez Power 17/2, C&D winner in April 14/1, creditable fourth of 12 in Racing League handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 28 days ago. Can give a good account. Better than the result at Wolverhampton last time; course record of 13141 piques interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (20/1 -233%) Radiant Beauty |
20/1(-233%) | (12) Radiant Beauty 20/1, First run since leaving Karl Burke when winning a 10-runner novice at Kempton (1m, 11/1) in a first-time hood 22 days ago. Lacks experience for a race like this now handicapping but it's likely she's capable of better. Winning stable debut in a Kempton novice three weeks ago (1m); no hood today; needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (25/1 -25%) Enola Grey |
25/1(-25%) | (10) Enola Grey 25/1, C&D winner in March. Creditable third at Beverley (7.5f) last month but down the field at York last week. Drawn wide. Others are preferred. Had a good winter but she's had her limitations exposed more recently; wide draw too. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (10/1 -11%) He's A Gentleman |
10/1(-11%) | (11) He's A Gentleman 10/1, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap (10/3) at Ayr (7f, good to firm) 31 days ago. Had a bit in hand so should remain competitive after a 3 lb rise. Won well over 7f at Ayr last month; more needed back up in class though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (5) (28/1 -12%) Bear Force One |
28/1(-12%) | (5) Bear Force One 28/1, Quirky sort. Operating below his useful best for new yard this year but his mark has come down as a result and possible refitted cheekpieces could provide the edge that's been missing. Not fired for new yard yet but last time was more encouraging; down to a dangerous mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
TROPEZ POWER appears to save his best for this track and returns to Southwell for the first time since scoring here in April. He would have finished closer than fourth at Wolverhampton last time with a clear run and gets another chance in an open affair. Oliver Show failed to help his cause by hanging in the closing stages at Yarmouth and he can go close if first-time cheekpieces have the desired effect, while Pjanoo merits a second glance back over today's trip after placing over 7f at Kempton and is just preferred to the progressive Great Acclaim.
In a really competitive heat a chance is taken on first-time headgear sparking a return to form for HELM ROCK, who is dangerously well treated on his exploits at this time last year and has the added bonus of Oisin Murphy doing the steering. His London & The South teammate Great Acclaim has got on a roll this summer and heads the many dangers along with fellow 3-y-o Magnum Opus and Team Ireland's Oliver Show.
Oliver Show could have further progress in him but this could be run to suit the in-form course specialist TROPEZ POWER.

1st (7) (14/1 -75%) Fantasy Believer |
14/1(-75%) | (7) Fantasy Believer 14/1, 2-2 this year, doing remarkably well to supplement his Ascot success when winning 7-runner handicap (9/1) at Chepstow (10f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago, losing even more ground at the start than usual. Not one to take a short price about given his antics at the start but at the top of his game. Bids for a hat-trick, but has never been this far before; needs to have improved generally. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/1 +11%) King Lear |
8/1(+11%) | (3) King Lear 8/1, 4/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, failed to come on for recent run when 4½ lengths sixth of 7 to Fantasy Believer in handicap at Chepstow (10f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago. Makes all-weather debut and a first-time tongue strap is added. Still unexposed, but needs switch to AW and addition of a tongue-tie to give him a lift. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/2 +18%) Cracksking |
9/2(+18%) | (2) Cracksking 9/2, Both wins have come on the AW but ran respectably back on turf when fourth of 10 in handicap at Ascot (12f, good to firm, 17/2) 19 days ago, just never in a position to really challenge. Each-way claims. Record on AW reads 32113; still 4lb above his last winning mark but could go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (11/1 -10%) Walhaan |
11/1(-10%) | (10) Walhaan 11/1, 12/1, capitalised on the drop in grade in smooth fashion to win 15-runner handicap at Leopardstown (9f, good) 7 days ago. Carries penalty. Back up in trip. Not dismissed back on these shores. Not the most consistent, but still shortlisted under a penalty for recent Leopardstown win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/2 +21%) Mighty Nebula |
11/2(+21%) | (8) Mighty Nebula 11/2, Won maiden at Kempton in April. 7/2, creditable fourth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 4 weeks ago, staying on gradually (stronger pace would have seen him to better effect). Upped in trip and remains unexposed. Has continued to run well since making a successful return; capable of playing a part. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (13/2 +13%) Dream Harder |
13/2(+13%) | (4) Dream Harder 13/2, Twelve runs since last win in 2023 but ran as well as he's ever done when head second of 10 to Insanity at Ascot (1½m, good to firm, 20/1) 19 days ago. Not taken lightly back on all-weather. Beaten only a head on turf last time; all four AW wins have come on Tapeta; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (18/1 -29%) Cockalorum |
18/1(-29%) | (9) Cockalorum 18/1, Latest win at Beverley in June. Acquitted himself very well pitched into a much deeper affair when fourth of 17 in handicap at York (10.2f, good to firm, 22/1) 5 days ago, well positioned. Not taken lightly if coping with this quick turnaround. Ran well at York on Saturday, but 5lb above his last winning mark and 0-7 on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (5/1 +44%) Great Bedwyn |
5/1(+44%) | (5) Great Bedwyn 5/1, Resumed winning ways at Newbury in July and backed it up with a very good third of 13 in handicap at Goodwood (14f) earlier in the month. Didn't appear to quite get home over at York (16.2f) 8 days ago but continued in top form nonetheless so remains of interest back at this trip. 1-1 on Tapeta; didn't see out 2m last time but a question as to whether this is far enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (40/1 -186%) Life On The Rocks |
40/1(-186%) | (12) Life On The Rocks 40/1, 4 wins from 13 runs this year, latest in 11-runner handicap (28/1) at Windsor (10f, good to firm) 2 weeks ago, leading final 1f having had to weave way through from 2f out. Nudged up just 2 lb and fancied to go well again (yet to win on all-weather, however). In fine form on turf in his last seven starts; respected if his improvement is general. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (10/1 +17%) Bizarre Law |
10/1(+17%) | (11) Bizarre Law 10/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 17/2, turned in a rare poor effort when last of 8 in handicap at Chepstow (12f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago, dropping away rather tamely despite having been allowed to set just a modest pace. Must bounce back but can. Ran well over C&D in his only previous visit and another big run wouldn't surprise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) (150/1 -127%) Speechman |
150/1(-127%) | (1) Speechman 150/1, Useful performer in France but offered little at unflattering odds on his first outing for this yard at Windsor (10f, good to firm) a fortnight ago. Dropped 3 lb but easy enough to look elsewhere. Made an inauspicious stable debut when last of nine at Windsor a fortnight ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (8/1 +43%) Alpen Power |
8/1(+43%) | (13) Alpen Power 8/1, 15/2, took advantage of a drop in the weights when winning 8-runner handicap at Kempton (12f) 17 days ago, edging ahead final 50 yds having had to pick way through 2f out. 3 lb higher and unexposed at the trip, this sole 3-y-o in the line-up is high on the shortlist. Won by a neck at Kempton this month; can't be dismissed easily from a 3lb higher mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Fantasy Believer goes well for Saffie Osbourne and another bold showing can be expected off just 3lb higher than his Racing League success at Chepstow three weeks ago. However, this is a deeper race and, on a very different surface, a chance is taken on the less-exposed MIGHTY NEBULA. The selection has shown promise in three previous handicap starts and is an attractive proposition with the step up in trip a potential source for improvement. Dream Harder and Cracksking are others to consider.
Several in with a shout in the penultimate contest of Racing League 2024 but sole 3-y-o ALPEN POWER makes most appeal for Charlie Johnston having taken advantage of a drop in the weights at Kempton earlier this month. Nudged up 3 lb, he can follow up at the expense of Dream Harder, who was seemingly better than ever when narrowly denied at Ascot recently. Mighty Nebula, who is having his first crack at this trip, can edge out Great Bedwyn for third.
It may be worth taking a chance with DREAM HARDER. All four AW wins have come on Tapeta and he was only just beaten at Ascot last time.

1st (1) (14/1 +13%) Thunder Moor |
14/1(+13%) | (1) Thunder Moor 14/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Yarmouth in July. 40/1, fourteenth of 16 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Return to minimum trip should see him in a better light. Yarmouth win in week one of the Racing League; trip excuses last time; C&D winner; chance. |

2nd (12) (80/1 -220%) Muker |
80/1(-220%) | (12) Muker 80/1, Latest win at Redcar in June. Last of 10 in handicap (12/1) at Ascot (5f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Hard to recommend on current form. Not at his best since winning at Redcar in June; back to that mark but opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (14/1 -75%) Brave Nation |
14/1(-75%) | (10) Brave Nation 14/1, 10/3, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Doncaster (5f, good to firm) 12 days ago. However, this looks tougher and he is unproven on this surface. Having a good season and won well at Doncaster 12 days ago; 4lb higher; AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (28/1 -211%) Tatterstall |
28/1(-211%) | (3) Tatterstall 28/1, Career best when winning 12-runner handicap (9/1) at Goodwood (5f, good to firm) 30 days ago by nose from Miss Attitude, all out. More required off 6 lb higher here, though. Back on the up this summer, winning at Catterick and Goodwood; up in weights but respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (9/1 +59%) The Caltonian |
9/1(+59%) | (8) The Caltonian 9/1, Dual winner earlier this year who posted career best when close third of 14 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 7 days ago. Likely to be in the mix again. Shaped well at Newcastle last week and returning to 5f looks the right move; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (5/2 +55%) Nazron |
5/2(+55%) | (9) Nazron 5/2, Took his form up a notch when readily winning 11-runner handicap (5/1) at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm) 14 days ago. 9lb higher on tapeta debut but must enter calculations. Easy win at Windsor two weeks ago; 9lb rise asks a stiffer question of him; Tapeta debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (50/1 -100%) Copper Knight |
50/1(-100%) | (14) Copper Knight 50/1, Latest win at Chester in June. 33/1, below form fourteenth of 22 in handicap at York (5.4f, good to firm) 8 days ago. Others more persuasive. Multiple winner down the years but it won't be easy trying to dominate in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (13/2 -18%) Star Of Lady M |
13/2(-18%) | (5) Star Of Lady M 13/2, Made it wins 5 wins in 2024 when taking 14-runner handicap at York (5f, good to firm) 8 days ago. Looks well in under 5 lb penalty and is one for shortlist. Bolted up in 5f fillies' handicap at the Ebor meeting last week; 5lb well in under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (4/1 +67%) Toca Madera |
4/1(+67%) | (2) Toca Madera 4/1, 8/1, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Warrants respect. 6f win two weeks ago when well placed in a race with a strong tailwind; this looks harder. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (11/1 -29%) Moulin Booj |
11/1(-29%) | (11) Moulin Booj 11/1, C&D winner who got back on scoreboard when taking 4-runner handicap at Windsor (5.1f, firm) 26 days ago, cosily. More on plate here but he must enter calculations. C&D winner; comes here on the up but he'll need a personal best to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (16/1 -14%) Equity Law |
16/1(-14%) | (13) Equity Law 16/1, Latest win at Sandown in April. Visored for 1st time, twelfth of 16 in handicap at Windsor (6f, good to firm, 40/1) 17 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. Something to prove at present. Not kicked on from April's Sandown win but he's only had nine runs and could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (7/1 +22%) Jer Batt |
7/1(+22%) | (4) Jer Batt 7/1, C&D winner who proved better than ever when landing 10-runner handicap at Haydock (5f, firm, 9/2) 25 days ago. 5 lb higher now but not taken lightly. Convincing display at Haydock 25 days ago; up 5lb but this C&D winner can rate higher yet. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (7) (33/1 -83%) Manila Scouse |
33/1(-83%) | (7) Manila Scouse 33/1, Latest win at Chepstow in August. 16/1, eleventh of 17 in handicap at Ripon (6f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Others make more appeal. Hit hard for Chester win three weeks ago & well held at Ripon since; others better treated. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Several of these have solid credentials, not least the hat-trick seeking Star Of Lady, who is 5lb well-in under a penalty and is an obvious candidate on these terms. Fellow last-time-out winners Nazron, Toca Madera and Tatterstall also command respect in their respective bids for back-to-back successes. However, as a previous C&D winner, last-start Haydock scorer JER BATT could be the way to go given the switch to a synthetic surface raises less of a question regarding the suitability of the surface.
STAR OF LADY M is in the form of her life and a 5 lb penalty for last week's emphatic York victory may not prevent a follow-up here. Nazron and Jer Batt head the list of dangers in what looks a highly competitive finale.
Star Of Lady M is the obvious starting point but both Jer Batt and THE CALTONIAN are feasible alternatives.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
