14:10 Pontefract Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

LADY DORCHESTER struggled to land a blow in Listed company last time, but Raphael Freire's charge is clearly well thought of by connections and she makes most appeal today. The AMO Racing-owned filly has been running with credit in her career to date and this first attempt in handicap company off a fair-looking rating of 67 could see her to better effect. Similar comments apply to Toota, who is feared most off an opening mark of 56, while Bobby Jones should also be noted.

All of these contest a nursery for the first time with LOVE GAMES just about the most interesting of them having displayed a lot more on his final qualifying run. Toota is also a likely improver at the foot of the weights, with Bobby Jones allotted a very fair mark.

Tentative preference is for LOVE GAMES, ahead of Griselda and Off The Bench in a typically tricky early nursery.

14:25 Lingfield Maiden (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

After a very pleasing second on her racecourse debut over 1m2f at Nottingham, this looks a good opportunity for FRENCH MISTRESS to get off the mark at the second attempt. Kevin Philippart De Foy's charge was only beaten a neck on that occasion, finishing with a strong late run, and should come on for that experience. Fox Vision has been running with credit in handicap company of late and he can be seen to better effect now back in a maiden, while Poncho is also of interest.

It's hard to get away from FRENCH MISTRESS, who made an encouraging debut at Nottingham in May and looks sure to improve. Poncho and Fox Vision may give her most to think about.

Those with the best flashes of form have become disappointing. FRENCH MISTRESS showed enough at Nottingham to get the vote.

14:40 Pontefract Maiden (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

JAMES WEBB paid for his inexperience in the closing stages when second over 1m2f at Redcar last month and he can go one better today. Sir Michael Stoute's charge has shaped as if a win is just around the corner in his three starts to date, finishing second on his last two outings, and today can be the day to shed his maiden tag. Redhot Whisper is likely to pose the biggest threat to the selection after a good third in a valuable handicap at Epsom last time, while Yosemite Gold is a son of Golden Horn and looks a newcomer to consider.

JAMES WEBB continued the theme of race-by-race progress when second at Redcar 3 weeks ago and very much in the right hands to go on improving, he can open his account here. Redhot Whisper is slightly more exposed but brings solid form to the table, with Yosemite Gold a newcomer to consider.

Sir Michael Stoute's only runner on the card, JAMES WEBB, gets the vote. Redhot Whisper is the chief threat on form.

14:55 Lingfield Stakes (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Having scored over C&D on her penultimate effort, LAURENTIA looks primed to get back to winning ways today. John Long's runner paid for early keenness on her latest outing over 1m4f at this venue last month, and this drop back in trip could work the oracle. Forever Proud has won twice over C&D this year and she commands respect, while Capallcliste is also likely to be on the scene.

LAURENTIA has acquitted herself well in both starts for her new yard and will appreciate the return to this shorter trip. She gets the nod. Forever Proud and Run Joy Run can also make their presence felt.

All of these come with risks. LAURENTIA is at least a recent winner and didn't appear to stay 1m4f here last time after moving well.

15:10 Pontefract Listed (Class 1) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.

Having been well supported in the Kensington Palace Stakes last time, a chance is taken on ELIM to gain compensation. Edward Bethell's charge had a lot to do towards the rear when staying on for sixth on that occasion and this smaller field can see her better effect. Doha won that same race well and this daughter of Sea The Stars is likely to make another bold bid, while Astral Beau should also be thereabouts after running with credit in Group 3 company last time.

Having shaped encouragingly on her return, the regally bred DOHA confirmed she's on the way to developing into a smart performer when landing the Kensington Palace at Royal Ascot 3 weeks ago. Well on top with the runner-up that day, she's worth her place at this level and shades the vote ahead of the likeable Choisya. Astral Beau back in slightly calmer waters and very low-mileage Naaey are others to bear in mind.

With further improvement on the cards, DOHA is taken to follow up her Royal Ascot win. Astral Beau is second choice.

15:25 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Ten Commitments showed a likeable attitude when scoring over 7f at Leicester last month and another bold bid can be expected, but a further 2lb rise in the ratings may leave him vulnerable to some better treated rivals. Therefore, a slight preference is for ROYAL TAPESTRY, who rarely runs a bad race and, now back on a very tempting mark, he can get his head in front. Charlie Johnston's charge won off 1lb lower over 1m at this venue last November and he can play a leading role, while Never Dream is also worthy of close consideration.

Preference is for TEN COMMITMENTS, who won a shade cosily at Leicester last month and remains on a workable mark. Never Dream and All Agleam are feared most.

Ten Commitments and Never Dream are on the up but MISTER MOJITO is taken to leave his latest Newmarket run behind him.

15:40 Pontefract Handicap (Class 2) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

An open event in which only a tentative vote can go to SILKY WILKIE. Sent off as favourite in the Dash at Epsom last month, he was far from disgraced in seventh. Karl Burke's gelding was afforded a 2lb ease in the ratings for that effort and he is handicapped to strike in these marginally calmer waters. Flaccianello bumped into an improver at York last month and she is an obvious candidate today, while others to note include Room Service and Woven.

MATTERS MOST was below his best in a big-field Royal Ascot handicap 18 days ago but his reappearance second behind a subsequent winner was a solid display and he could make full use of his plum draw on the rail and bounce back here. Room Service with his sights lowered, Silky Wilkie, and Wen Moon, who has fallen back down to his last winning mark, are others to consider.

The suggestion is FLACCIANELLO, who may be capable of further progress. Matters Most is second choice.

15:55 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SUGARLOAF LENNY won over a mile here as a two-year-old and having gone close over the same distance on his last couple of outings, Bill Knight's charge looks ready for this step up in trip. Treasure Storm finished third behind the selection at Wolverhampton last time and can make her presence felt debuting for a new trainer, while Myna was narrowly beaten over today's distance at Newbury in May and a repeat effort should see him in the mix once again. Thrilling Dream and Alvesta are others to note.

SUGARLOAF LENNY has been knocking on the door and makes most appeal on the back of another fine second at Wolverhampton. Treasure Storm also arrives in good order and looks a danger, while Alvesta likely has a bigger performance in her at some point.

There are question marks about all of them and SUGARLOAF LENNY is just a hopeful choice to make a success of the step up in trip.

16:10 Pontefract Handicap (Class 5) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU finished a creditable second over 2m at Haydock last month and, from 1lb higher, he looks set to mount a stern challenge. A drop in trip may suit while the addition of first-time cheekpieces could elicit some improvement, and he is preferred to Evening Story. Free Speech has been admirably consistent in recent starts and she can be on the premises once again.

A winner at Chelmsford back in the autumn, FREE SPEECH has been holding her form well on both turf and all-weather in recent months and, with cheekpieces enlisted for the first time, she could be the way to go under Rossa Ryan. Natzor wasn't seen to best effect at Newcastle and he's a threat along with It's All About You. Polar Princess is another to keep an eye on for her in-form yard.

Judged on her Windsor form in May, FREE SPEECH holds particularly strong claims. It's All About You is second choice.

16:25 Lingfield Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

LANDLORDTOTHESTARS won at Southwell at the start of the year and James Evans' charge looks capable of scoring off his current handicap mark on the evidence of last month's second over this course and distance. Ring of Light will likely take advantage of a slip down the weights before long and can get involved here, while Dutch Kingdom may figure with Liam Wright's 5lb claim helping his cause. Last month's Brighton winner King Of Scotia is preferred to Mykonos St John of the remainder.

KING OF SCOTIA proved rather disappointing at Ffos Las but that may have come too soon, just five days after his Brighton success. If back on-song he could well be the answer here. Landlordtothestars returned to form back on the all-weather when finding just one too good over this C&D last month and he is second choice. Tea Sea will also be in with a shout if ready to roll following a six-month break.

Several possibles but LANDLORDTOTHESTARS (nap) bumped into one here last month and he can gain compensation.

16:33 Uttoxeter Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

VALSAD justified his short odds in fine style on his hurdling debut over C&D last month and he could have plenty more to offer. Harry Derham's five-year-old carries a 7lb penalty for that triumph, which is unlikely to stop him from following up. The main threat might be Guard Duty, who could only manage fourth on his first hurdle start but he may show more in a first-time hood. Of the remainder, Virtual Rock makes the most appeal with the booking of Harry Cobden catching the eye.

VALSAD, a good quality recruit from the Flat, ran out quite an impressive winner on his C&D hurdling debut last month and is surely good enough to defy a penalty with improvement on the cards. Virtual Rock showed a similar level of form on the level to the selection and is feared most ahead of Guard Duty.

Recent C&D winner Valsad is respected but bumper winner GUARD DUTY can improve over hurdles if aided by the first-time hood here.

16:45 Pontefract Handicap (Class 5) 8f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

ARDBRACCAN found only the progressive Beylerbeyi, who has subsequently won again, too good when second at Doncaster. Clear of the rest on that occasion, she can go one better at the main expense of Hostelry. The latter also placed at Doncaster last time and may have finished closer than third with a clear run, while Distinction accounted for Poet's Dawn when winning at Beverley and can be forgiven a moderate effort in a higher grade at Newcastle on his latest start.

A number to consider but SHAMARDAL STAR appeals as the type to do better now handicapping up in trip and could be worth chancing. Ardbraccan is a danger, while Mulciber might prove to be the pick of the 3-y-os if proving as good on turf.

The two suggestions against the field are the interesting handicap debutants BATEMAN (narrowly preferred) and Shamardal Star.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Delta Legend made a perfect start for the Gay Kelleway stable when scoring by just under a length over C&D last month and he holds obvious claims off a 3lb higher mark under Oisin Murphy. However, the vote goes to HUL AH BAH LOO, who was beaten into fourth over track and trip last time and he was dropped 1lb for that display. With a better draw this time around and Luke Morris booked, he ought to go close. Smart Deal is another to consider.

The vote goes to HUL AH BAH LOO, who is now 12 lb lower in the weights compared to when striking over C&D in November and he shaped as though his turn may again be nearer when fourth back here last month. Delta Legend made a winning start for this yard in a C&D handicap and will be a threat, particularly if he again gets a strong pace to aim at. Smart Deal is third choice but in reality they will all have their work cut out if Valkyrian, who was second at Chelmsford on Sunday, takes his chance.

Delta Legend is greatly respected in his bid to make it 3-3 over C&D, but VALKYRIAN looks ready to gain her first AW success.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Dame Sarra took a step forward from her debut over hurdles to score by just under two lengths at Newton Abbot last time, but she could find it tougher with a 7lb penalty and preference is for LIGHT FANDANGO. The five-year-old showed signs of amount of ability in two starts in Ireland before switching to the Neil Mulholland yard and he has scope for improvement under Brian Hughes. Any market confidence behind Buxted Reel should also be noted.

LIGHT FANDANGO will benefit from return to 2½m in due course, but he sets a clear standard on his 2 runs for his previous yard and is taken to make the most of a good-looking opportunity. Dame Sarra should give another good account under a penalty, while Buxted Reel should be in the hunt for a place if taking to this new discipline.

The one to beat is LIGHT FANDANGO, who was placed in a big-field Punchestown maiden on the second of his two starts in Ireland.

17:10 Tramore Claimer 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

The vote goes to MAGNETIC NORTH, who landed the corresponding event 12 months ago. The nine-year-old was on target at Gowran last month and must hold every chance of retaining his crown, while he does not have much to find with the likes of Morph Speed, who is top-rated from a mark of 79. He finished last of 10 in a competitive handicap on his most recent outing but dropping in class may see him get more involved now. Lunar Bird is one to note on her Irish debut. The Cracksman filly was a winner in England last year and is entitled to play a part if running to her mark of 75.

KENDANCER wasn't seen to best effect in a similar event last time on the back of 2 claiming hurdle wins and he's worth another chance. Magnetic North and Lunar Bird are feared.

The vote goes to MAGNETIC NORTH who has a good record in claiming races and is a C&D winner

17:17 Pontefract Handicap (Class 5) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CAVALIER APPROACH only needed to be pushed out by Rossa Ryan to return a cosy winner over track and trip last week. He can shrug off a penalty on that evidence and confirm superiority with runner-up Protest Rally. Emperor Caradoc may prove a bigger threat to the selection, given he can race off the same handicap mark as when second here last month, while Dicko The Legend has been threatening a return to winning ways and could be thereabouts at the finish.

Last week's C&D 1-2 CAVALIER APPROACH and Protest Rally (dead-heated for second) can come to the fore again, with Ed Bethell's 4-y-o taken to confirm the form over his rival and follow up with Rossa Ryan in the plate once more. Lettuce Leaf, the only 3-y-o in the field, remains unexposed now taking on older rivals and could produce a bigger performance.

Sound Reason can get closer to CAVALIER APPROACH (nap) today but the topweight is still fancied to win again.

17:25 Brighton Stakes (Class 6) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

Alfred Cove, a narrow winner over C&D last Tuesday, ought to give another bold showing, but SUANNI is preferred. Darryll Holland's charge hasn't been at his best recently, but the son of Lethal Force was on target in a handicap at Lingfield in April and it would come as no surprise were he to bounce back now eased into classified company for the first time. Firenze Rosa completes the shortlist.

ALFRED COVE scored here a week ago and, with the opposition out of form, he's the obvious choice to go in again. Suanni is a danger if allowed his own way in front and Firenze Rosa isn't completely dismissed.

This looks a good opportunity for ALFRED COVE (nap) to land back-to-back wins after scoring here last week. Stryder is feared most.

17:30 Lingfield Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

C&D winner Sir Rodneyredblood filled the runner-up spot in a classified event at Yarmouth on his latest outing and he makes his return to the handicap ranks off a workable mark. However, he could come out second best to HAVECHATMA, who returned from a 177-day break to hit the frame over 5f at Bath and she was kindly dropped 1lb for that effort. The daughter of Havana Grey is a previous C&D scorer and she can record her third career victory. Due Date is another to note.

Several to consider in this open-looking handicap. HAVECHATMA shaped well back from a break when third at Bath last month and she is of strong interest back on the all-weather. Gherkin was returning from a similar break when mid-field at Windsor in April and, like the selection, he should be sharper this time. Stuart Kittow's charge is second choice with Oisin Murphy booked, while Coast, Due Date and Jungle Run are others with claims.

Sir Rodneyredblood and Gherkin should go well but HAVECHATMA remains unexposed as a sprinter in headgear.

17:35 Uttoxeter Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

After undergoing wind surgery, GET UP MUSH returned from over a year off the track to score by half a length over 2m5f here and he was only put up 5lb for that victory. Dan Skelton's six-year-old makes only his second handicap start and he could prove very hard to beat. Golfe Clair made a winning chase debut at Stratford in May and he would be foolish to dismiss off 4lb higher, while Deerstalker can fight it out for the minor honours in first-time cheekpieces.

There is plenty more to come from GET UP MUSH over fences if he stands his racing and he can follow up last month's cosy win here. Golfe Clair made a successful start over the larger obstacles himself at Stratford and should go well again. Rathmacknee isn't without a chance back up in trip after showing a bit on his chase debut at Ffos Las.

Preference is for RATHMACKNEE who ran a positive first race over fences at Ffos Las when finding 2m too sharp a test.

17:45 Tramore Maiden 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

STARIAM wouldn't be winning out of turn here having been runner-up on her last three outings. The Sea The Stars filly bumped into a smart sort last time when chasing home Magical Zoe at Down Royal and this looks like a winnable opportunity now. Her 5lb fillies allowance may prove crucial against Carlo Bianconi, who is rated a couple of pounds superior. The Galiway gelding has also been knocking on the door and ran with credit in a very competitive handicap on Derby Day at the Curragh last time. Kings Hill, a smart horse over hurdles, is an interesting one tried on the level now.

KINGS HILL is a classy jumper and is taken to make a winning start in this sphere. Carlo Bianconi is feared most ahead of Stariam.

Runner-up on three occasions STARIAM faces nothing of the calibre of smart hurdler Magical Zoe who beat her at Down Royal.

17:55 Brighton Maiden (Class 5) 7f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

A far from daunting standard is set by those with experience, so a chance can be taken on IFFRAAJ POWER. George Boughey's debutant, a brother to the talented Powerful Breeze, makes plenty of appeal on paper and he would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to make an immediate impact. A step up in trip and the addition of first-time cheekpieces could unlock some improvement within Pay Attention and he could be the main danger. Great David is also noted.

IFFRAAJ POWER and Great David are both appealing newcomers in a race where the bar isn't set very high, but the first-named has the speedier pedigree and gets marginal preference. Unknown Journey is the pick of those with experience.

George Boughey has been prolific with his 2yos this year so IFFRAAJ POWER is favoured over fellow debutant Great David.

18:05 Uttoxeter Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 23f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Kitesurfer was a commanding winner at Fontwell last time out and although he's respected, consistency hasn't been his strong suit and it is SECRET TRIX that shades preference. Olly Murphy's charge has been on an upwards curve since winning at Southwell in May of last year, he bumped into an improver at Stratford last month but he could go one better today. Wonderwall might not be far away either.

KITESURFER was clearly suited by the step up in trip when readily scoring at Fontwell last month and still looks nicely treated, despite a 5 lb rise for that victory. He can go in again. Royal Pretender and Secret Trix rate the principal dangers.

Preference is for KITESURFER, who was not an instant success for Jamie Snowden but quickened nicely clear at Fontwell last month.

18:15 Tramore Handicap 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

A confirmed front-runner who was just denied in similar company at Ballinrobe last time, NO NIKI NO can gain compensation. The Eoghan O'Neill-trained mare disappointed at Goodwood on her previous start but had gone close at Sligo on her seasonal reappearance prior to that. On a tight right-handed track that favours prominent racers, the eight-year-old has much to recommend her. Fairytale Princess, a winner at the Curragh on Guineas weekend, was behind No Niki No at Ballinrobe last time. However, at these revised weights the Ger Lyons-trained filly can make a race of it. Limerick Claiming race winner Hasten Slowly will need to improve in order to feature in this stronger grade but at least she arrives here in good form.

NO NIKI NO Is an uncomplicated ride and dominating a smaller field than she is used to encountering looks a distinct possibility. Fairytale Princess finished behind the selection last time but it was another very good effort, while Vidisha will be plugging on back in trip.

NO NIKI NO(nap)'s tactical speed will be a big asset at this track and she can confirm Ballinrobe with Fairytale Princess.

ELECTRIC AVENUE was on target over C&D three weeks ago, his first start on the grass, and given that he is open to further progress, a subsequent 2lb rise might prove lenient. Mizuumi showed promise at Kempton last time out and she warrants consideration from 1lb lower, as does Believe You Me, who could benefit from a drop in trip.

There may well be better to come from ELECTRIC AVENUE, who made a winning turf debut over this C&D three weeks ago and a 2 lb rise should be no barrier to further success. Believe You Me can be expected to benefit from this drop back in trip and is next on the list ahead of Capuchinero.

A tricky heat but recent C&D winner ELECTRIC AVENUE is preferred over Mizuumi who may have more to give.

18:35 Uttoxeter Handicap Chase (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

NEIGH BOTHA returned to action with a commanding success at Southwell last month and the unexposed chaser could have more to offer from an 8lb raised mark. Theonlywayiswessex recorded a wide-margin triumph of his own at Stratford three weeks ago and he is the most likely threat, while Into The Sunset warrants a market check ahead of his fencing bow.

THEONLYWAYISWESSEX has returned in good form, building on his previous chase effort when running out a comfortable winner at Stratford (17f) 21 days ago. That hasn't gone unnoticed by the assessor, yet Alan King's charge remains lightly raced in this sphere and earns the vote to follow up. Fellow last-time-out winners Neigh Botha and Solid Fuel are next best, with veteran Abaya du Mathan also fancied to give a good account.

18:45 Tramore Handicap 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Runner-up to Dark Note here 12 months ago, EXPOUND may be able to turn the tables. Conceding 3lb to the winner on that occasion, the Denis Hogan-trained gelding can race off level weights now with Daniel King claiming an additional 5lb. Having opened his account in a Ballinrobe maiden last time, the five-year-old arrives here in winning form. The aforementioned Dark Note has to be a live contender given his proven ability to handle this track. Andrew Slattery's five-year-old was pulled up over fences last time but had been second over hurdles on his penultimate start. The Night Of Thunder gelding will almost certainly be prominent from the outset. Limerick winner Forlio has to have every chance with Colin Keane retaining the ride on the Paul Flynn-trained gelding.

EXPOUND is versatile as regards trip and having belatedly opened his account in a Ballinrobe maiden 2 weeks ago, he shades the vote to continue the good work returned to handicaps. Fellow last-time-out winner Desert Friend and last year's winner Dark Note head up the dangers, with Spy another to note.

There is probably a race of this standard to be won with SPY who has given the impression that this trip will help his cause

18:55 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

UNCLE DICK took advantage of having a strong pace to aim at when arriving late to score by half a length over a mile here last week and he should have no issues with the step back up in trip. The six-year-old carries a 5lb penalty for that victory but it may not be enough to stop him from following up. His main threat might be Bletchley Storm, who was victorious at Leicester when last seen in April and she is an interesting contender on her first start for the George Baker yard. Of the remainder, Luna Effect makes the most appeal.

Course specialists SHALFA and Uncle Dick clash again with the former taken to uphold the form of their latest clash on these terms. Bletchley Storm was impressive at Leicester so has to be feared starting out for a new yard, as does Luna Effect.

Course specialist Uncle Dick is thriving at present but he was unable to beat SHALFA here last month and is 2lb worse off.

19:05 Uttoxeter Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

CITY OF RUINS made a pleasing return to action when finishing third at Southwell last month and it would come as no surprise were he to step forward in a relatively moderate event. Cher Tara struck the woodwork at Market Rasen recently and she looks set to play a leading role for the Dan Skelton team. Rock On Tommy heads the remainder.

ROCK ON TOMMY won a brace of C&D handicaps this time last year, and having more than stopped the slide back here last month in re-fitted blinkers, he's now too well weighted to ignore. Cher Tara is feared most, though Kentucky Bluegrass should have a bigger performance in him given his Flat ability.

Last year's winner ROCK ON TOMMY (nap) signalled a return to form when coming from a poor position to take third here last month.

19:15 Tramore Handicap 12f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

With the Kevin Prendergast stable hitting form of late, a chance is taken on BUTTERFLY GARDEN to add to her previous win at this venue. Successful off 7lb higher as a three-year-old, the daughter of Awtaad ran well subsequently off higher ratings. She has been off the track since an encouraging sixth at Dundalk back in February but has run well fresh in the past. Top-weight Metamorpheus rates a serious danger for the Paul Nolan stable. Fifth in a higher grade at Listowel last month, the gelding should be better suited to dropping back in trip here. No Trouble, who finished second at Bellewstown on Friday evening, should be involved if this race doesn't come too soon.

CHUTZPAL made an encouraging start for this yard following an absence of almost six months at Fairyhouse and he is a strong candidate with that run under his belt. It's been an awful long time since the 10-y-o Contrapposto registered his sole success on the Flat but he has to be feared off a lowly mark on the back of a victory over hurdles last week. No Trouble is best of the rest.

Having looked as if 2m was too far on handicap debut last time, METAMORPHEUS might be able to score down in trip and grade.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

LETTER OF THE LAW stumbled leaving the stalls when putting in a poor effort at Chepstow last time, but he finished second in this grade prior to that and he goes off the same mark today. John O'Shea's charge is a previous C&D winner and he could get his head back in front. The main danger might be Clear Justice, who accounted for his nearest rival by just over a length when scoring over 1m2f here last time and the drop in trip shouldn't pose him many problems, so he has to be considered. Headshot isn't out of it either.

TOP BUTTON hasn't had much exposure on turf and having stuck to his task pretty well over 7f at Leicester last time, is just about the most persuasive option upped slightly in trip. Clear Justice and They head the opposition.

It may be worth siding with TOP BUTTON who shaped as though the return to 1m would suit when a close second at Lingfield last time.

(7) Andapa 17/2, Largely creditable efforts in defeat since winning back-to-back handicaps here in July 2021. Beaten 21 lengths when fourth on debut for new yard at Plumpton in May but she's entitled to come on for that (first run for 12 months) and the booking of Harry Cobden catches the eye.

19:35 Uttoxeter Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Sergeant was only beaten two and a half lengths over the extended 2m at Taunton when last seen in February last year and he could be in the shake-up after being dropped 5lb by the handicapper, but he may be susceptible to some race-fit rivals such as CHEF DE TROUPE. Tony Forbes' charge was only narrowly touched off over C&D last month and a 2lb rise in the ratings doesn't appear out of his reach. Harry Gulliver fell at the last when challenging over 2m at Southwell on his latest outing and he completes the shortlist.

Flat-winner DOUBLE OBAN is taken to make it third time lucky in this sphere. The 4-y-o showed promise in back-to-back novice events at Worcester and makes his handicap debut over hurdles on what could turn out to be a handy mark. Andapa is interesting with her reappearance spin at Plumpton under her belt (and with Harry Cobden booked), while Harry Gulliver's best days are surely still ahead of him and he also merits respect, along with Chef de Troupe and Sergeant.

The veteran CHEF DE TROUPE might have completed a course double but for fluffing the penultimate flight last month and he appeals most.

19:45 Tramore Handicap 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

Bottom-weight RAIN is of interest. A step up to 2m saw her keep on for fifth in a valuable handicap at the Curragh and she looks well worth another crack over this distance. She has been placed four times in Ireland and did win over an extended 1m6f in France. Nostra Casa won over this trip at Thurles last season and that will really stand him in good stead for this test. Longclaw was well behind Rain at the Curragh, but should get to dictate his own fractions off the front in this small-field contest and is respected. Jabbar is markedly up in trip, but does know where the winning post is.

NARLITA was shaping up well towards the end of last season and she's likely to strip fitter for her reappearance, so she gets the nod ahead of Jabbar, who ran with credit at Roscommon last time. Rain should give another good account but doesn't appear to have much in hand.

A chance is taken on NARLITA to score up to a new trip. She handled this track when third in a maiden last year.

19:55 Brighton Handicap (Class 6) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

MILLIETHEMOLLIE wasn't beaten far into third in this grade at Windsor last month and she goes off an unchanged mark today. With Jack Doughty claiming 5lb this time around, she could be the one to beat. Marching Mac was denied by a length when second over 7f here on his penultimate start and he would be foolish to dismiss off a 2lb higher rating, while first-time cheekpieces could eke out more from Lieutenant Rascal and he is another to note.

MARCHING MAC has races in him if settling down and gets the vote over Milliethemollie and Lieutenant Rascal.

The drop to 6f looks likely to suit MARCHING MAC who looked in good form at Wetherby and he is preferred to Lieutenant Rascal.

20:05 Uttoxeter NH Flat Race (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Having shown ability as well as signs of inexperience on his racecourse debut, FAN MAGNET looks primed to make a bold bid today. Stuart Crawford's runner unseated today's jockey Bryan Hughes when jumping a path towards the closing stages of that contest but he did travel with purpose for a long way and, with that experience under his belt, he appears capable of landing a prize of this nature. Newcomers Jehol De Thaix and Fiskardo are likely to pose the biggest threats to the selection.

JEHOL DE THAIX hails from a yard that does well in bumpers and this is a winnable race, so he's preferred to Fiskardo, another interesting newcomer on paper. Fan Magnet should improve from his debut and is arguably the pick of those with experience.

Jehol De Thaix looks interesting but CASTADRIFT won a maiden point by a wide margin in May and might be the answer.

20:20 Tramore Handicap 16f Race Speed Rating Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.

RAUZAN ran up a couple of victories over hurdles at this track and Downpatrick during May and June, so appeals off a mark of 61 on this return to the Flat. In addition, Wesley Joyce takes 5lb off his back. Calmafterthestorm came from a long way back to shed her maiden tag over an extended 1m4f in Down Royal, so you can see the reasoning behind the step up in trip. Grann's Boy is well versed in picking up prize money and another decent effort looks likely. Katzoff may only be rated 40, however, he was gambled on in a handicap hurdle at Cork and ran well in second which gives him a chance.

RAUZAN is handicapped to win in this sphere and has been thriving over hurdles, so he makes most appeal. A market move for Young Lucy with Colin Keane up would make that one very interesting. Grann's Boy and Calmafterthestorm arrive in good order and are feared.

A mistake two out proved costly for SPINNING WEB at Tipperary last week. Two Flat runs in May suggest he will be suited by this trip

About U.K Horse Racing

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.

There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.

The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.

Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.

In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.

Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
