1st (6) (3.33/1 +5%) Rwenearlytheredad |
3.33/1(+5%) | (6) Rwenearlytheredad 3.33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable sixth of 10 in handicap at Wetherby (5.5f, good to firm, 10/3) 21 days ago, merely closing up late. Plenty to find on form. Excuses when behind Tantalus at Wetherby (h'cap debut); improvement likely; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.5/1 +13%) Mrs Trump |
3.5/1(+13%) | (4) Mrs Trump 3.5/1, Shaped much better than the bare result when seventh of 12 in handicap (12/1) at Thirsk (6f, good) 18 days ago, not ideally placed. Not taken lightly. Maiden; fair run over 6f two runs back, but not so good last time; 2nd run over 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (12/1 +0%) Bella Kopella |
12/1(+0%) | (3) Bella Kopella 12/1, Latest win at Newcastle in March. 12/1, below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Doncaster (6f, firm) 9 days ago. 7f AW winner in March; not so good on return to turf last time (6f); first run at 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4.5/1 +25%) Insolente |
4.5/1(+25%) | (5) Insolente 4.5/1, C&D winner (seller) in May. 7/1, good fourth of 6 in seller at Thirsk (6f, good) 18 days ago. On fair mark back in a handicap. Won C&D seller in May and fair run in 6f seller last time; not out of it from prime draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (6.5/1 +46%) Howyadoin |
6.5/1(+46%) | (7) Howyadoin 6.5/1, Respectable fourth of 13 in handicap (18/1) at Southwell (5f) 14 days ago. Best turf run was over stiff 5f on fast ground off 6lb higher; not well drawn but a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (7/1 +56%) Global Effort |
7/1(+56%) | (1) Global Effort 7/1, Fourth of 7 in handicap at Leicester (5f, good to firm, 16/1) 10 days ago. Sound efforts on last two starts, latest when close fourth at Leicester; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (6.5/1 -117%) Tantalus |
6.5/1(-117%) | (2) Tantalus 6.5/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable second of 10 in handicap (13/8) at Wetherby (5.5f, good to firm) 21 days ago. Shortlist material. Yet to win; two good runs recently (first-time headgear latest); chance but not well drawn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (12/1 -9%) Lukla |
12/1(-9%) | (8) Lukla 12/1, Seventh of 10 in handicap (12/1) at Thirsk (5f, good) 22 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Others more persuasive. Not beaten far when seventh of 10 last time; headgear tried; has a bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
TANTALUS has hit the crossbar the last twice, with the latest of those efforts coming at Wetherby over an extended 5f. He has been left on the same mark and is fancied to go one place better to shed his maiden tag. Insolente struck in a C&D seller two starts ago and could play a hand in the finish, while Global Effort competes off a career-low mark and would be foolish to dismiss.
INSOLENTE has been in good form in sellers of late so can take advantage of a career-low mark back in a handicap. Mrs Trump shaped much better than the bare result at Thirsk so needs considering, while Tantalus responded well to this headgear when runner-up at Wetherby.
Despite his poor draw a chance is taken on HOWYADOIN who has his ideal conditions and his rider is able to claim a valuable 8lb.

1st (2) (1.88/1 -7%) Rivas Rob Roy |
1.88/1(-7%) | (2) Rivas Rob Roy 1.88/1, Bagged fourth course victory when taking 7-runner handicap over this trip (soft) 7 days ago, easily. Looks well in under 4 lb penalty and holds leading claims. Looked in excellent nick when scoring by over 5l here a week ago; commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/1 -6%) Superstar Dj |
9/1(-6%) | (4) Superstar Dj 9/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 5 in handicap (5/1) at this course (9.9f, good to firm) 14 days ago. Yet to really fire this year. Won on AW in the autumn but has some questions to answer at present. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (2/1 +50%) Billaki Mou |
2/1(+50%) | (6) Billaki Mou 2/1, Still looking for first win but ran right up to best, in first-time visor, when second of 9 in handicap over C&D (good to firm, 4/1) 14 days ago. Should give another good account. Second to much-improved rival over C&D a fortnight ago; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (25/1 -56%) Tom Tulliver |
25/1(-56%) | (5) Tom Tulliver 25/1, Latest win at Southwell in March. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 9/1) 33 days ago. Makes limited appeal. Dual AW winner this year but has very modest strike-rate on turf; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (3.5/1 +0%) Storm Asset |
3.5/1(+0%) | (3) Storm Asset 3.5/1, Chasing a hat-trick after victories at Wolverhampton (9.5f) and Nottingham (10.2f) in recent weeks. Remains fairly treated and warrants plenty of respect. Two wins already this month; has run well here before; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/1 -120%) Compere |
11/1(-120%) | (1) Compere 11/1, 3/1, 13½ lengths last of 7 to Rivas Rob Roy in handicap at this C&D (soft) 7 days ago. Chance if rediscovering old form. Didn't fire here a week ago but made the frame three times beforehand (twice over C&D). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
RIVAS ROB ROY is at the top of his game at present and the three-timer looks very much on the cards for John Gallagher's charge. He can get the better of recent C&D runner-up Billaki Mou and another hat-trick seeker in Storm Asset, who should not be inconvenienced by the drop in distance. Compere is entitled to be thereabouts as well.
Course specialist RIVAS ROB ROY arrives in a rich vein of form and can defy a 4 lb penalty for his latest success. Storm Asset is also on a winning run and rates the chief threat.
Rivas Rob Roy is in prime form but preference is for BILLAKI MOU, who ran well in defeat behind an improver here a fortnight ago.

1st (4) (2.75/1 -38%) Misemerald |
2.75/1(-38%) | (4) Misemerald 2.75/1, Once-raced filly. Third of 13 in maiden (100/1) at Carlisle (5.8f, soft) on debut 8 days ago, having to pick way through. Up in trip. Should progress. Belied 100-1 odds when keeping-on third at Carlisle (6f) last week; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (0.57/1 -8%) Shadan Joy |
0.57/1(-8%) | (1) Shadan Joy 0.57/1, Promising type. 9/2, second of 6 in maiden at Lingfield (7f, good to firm) on debut 28 days ago. Should be more to come and looks the one to beat. Lost out only to a Godolphin filly after attempting to make all at Lingfield; good chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/1 +55%) Eminny |
9/1(+55%) | (2) Eminny 9/1, Foaled February 4. 35,000 gns yearling, 10,000 gns 2-y-o, Inns of Court filly. Dam twice-raced half-sister to useful 2-y-o 1m winner Emaniya out of smart 7f winner Emiyna. Out of a well-connected French maiden; market may point the way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (10/1 +50%) Highland Well |
10/1(+50%) | (3) Highland Well 10/1, Foaled March 1. 14,000 gns yearling, Highland Reel filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 7f winner Ones Are Wild. Yard boasts a solid strike rate with juveniles this year. Out of a half-sister to a Gimcrack winner; stable not prolific with newcomers.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SHADAN JOY showed plenty of promise on debut at Lingfield, only being denied by an odds-on favourite from the Godolphin camp, and she would have learned a great deal from the experience. With improvement forthcoming, Charlie Johnston's filly could prove very tough to beat. The main threat might be Misemerald, who shaped well over 6f at Carlisle, although any market support for newcomers Eminny and Highland Well should be respected.
SHADAN JOY ought to progress from her encouraging Lingfield debut and can get off the mark. Misemerald also made a pleasing start to her career at Carlisle last week and is the obvious danger.
Carlisle third Misemerald can progress but Lingfield runner-up SHADAN JOY arguably has more compelling form and greater potential.

1st (2) (2.5/1 +38%) Canadiansmokeshow |
2.5/1(+38%) | (2) Canadiansmokeshow 2.5/1, Ran to a fair level all 4 starts at 2 yrs but hasn't been in same form so far this term, latest over longer trip at Wetherby 2 weeks ago. Tried in hood now. Placed on three of her four 2yo starts but disappointing so far this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (3.5/1 -40%) Onemorenomore |
3.5/1(-40%) | (5) Onemorenomore 3.5/1, Thrice-raced gelding. Fair fourth of 8 in maiden at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm, 40/1) 17 days ago. May have more to offer yet. Unexposed after only three runs and showed improvement when fourth at Beverley this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3/1 -33%) Fahari |
3/1(-33%) | (4) Fahari 3/1, Fair filly. Below form sixth of 10 in handicap at Goodwood (7f, good to firm, 16/1) latest but must enter calculations back in maiden company here. Didn't fire last time but her previous form makes her a major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (2.5/1 +9%) Another Dimension |
2.5/1(+9%) | (1) Another Dimension 2.5/1, Lightly-raced colt. 33/1, ninth of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 19 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Back down in trip. Not out of things. Looked quite promising in the autumn but was soundly beaten in both handicaps this spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (20/1 +0%) Eternal Fame |
20/1(+0%) | (3) Eternal Fame 20/1, Thrice-raced filly. Hooded for 1st time, tenth of 11 in maiden at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 50/1) 22 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Others preferred. Promising third on 2yo debut but well below that form twice since; up in trip today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This can go the way of FAHARI, who wasn't at her best in a Goodwood handicap last time out, but ran well on her two previous starts this season. The step up from 7f is another plus and she can see off Another Dimension and Onemorenomore, who ran a career-best when fourth at Beverley last time out and there should be more to come.
This can go to ONEMORENOMORE, who has improved with each outing and remains low mileage. Fahari may provide the chief threat.
The most appealing option in this uncompetitive maiden is ONEMORENOMORE, who posted a good effort at Beverley this month.

40/1(-21%) | (5) Park Street 40/1, 125/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 17 days ago. Something to find on form. Held since joining this yard and finished behind Satin Snake over C&D last time. |

5/1(+38%) | (6) Ravenglass 5/1, Bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap (6/1) at Hamilton (9.2f, good to firm) 19 days ago, merely closing up late. Visor on 1st time. Back off the same mark as for the latest of two wins over 1m last summer; visor on. |

3rd (7) (16/1 +11%) Patontheback |
16/1(+11%) | (7) Patontheback 16/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2021. 5/1, bit below form sixth of 13 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good) 22 days ago. Back up in trip. Two wins over 6f on the AW at the end of 2021, but 0-9 on turf; others make more appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (2/1 -14%) Gone |
2/1(-14%) | (8) Gone 2/1, 4 wins from 7 runs this year. Creditable second of 6 in handicap (4/9) at Hamilton (8.3f, good to firm) 6 days ago. Can give a good account. Failed by a short head to complete a four-timer six days ago; another big effort likely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (4.5/1 +0%) Satin Snake |
4.5/1(+0%) | (2) Satin Snake 4.5/1, 14/1, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 17 days ago, running on. Not taken lightly. Four wins on the AW but ran well over C&D last time; claims if stepping up from that. |

6th (3) (10/1 +60%) Beauty Choice |
10/1(+60%) | (3) Beauty Choice 10/1, Thirteenth of 19 in handicap at York (7f, good to firm, 50/1) 31 days ago. Held in two starts for this yard but back off last winning mark; could take a step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (6.5/1 -63%) Ey Up Its The Boss |
6.5/1(-63%) | (4) Ey Up Its The Boss 6.5/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 13/2 and visored for 1st time, good third of 15 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, firm) 9 days ago. Expected to be bang there. Has gone very close the last twice; respected, especially if the ground remains fast. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (16/1 +0%) Tartan Skirt |
16/1(+0%) | (1) Tartan Skirt 16/1, First run since leaving M. D. O'Callaghan when eighth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 18/1) 14 days ago, not knocked about. Visor back on. Curragh 2yo maiden winner, but shown little since including on stable debut; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (6.5/1 +24%) Sunny Orange |
6.5/1(+24%) | (9) Sunny Orange 6.5/1, Good third of 8 in handicap at Haydock (7.2f, firm, 40/1) 17 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Again hasn't gone on from a good effort on his first start of the season; cheekpieces on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Gone has been in splendid form this year, winning four of her seven starts, and she warrants plenty of respect off the same mark as when touched off at Hamilton last week. However, TARTAN SKIRT appeals as a type trainer David O'Meara does well with and she could take the necessary step forward on only her second start for the yard. Ey Up Its The Boss is another to note.
EY UP ITS THE BOSS has been knocking on the door of late and looks ready to strike off this sort of mark. The thriving Gone is the obvious threat, with Satin Snake best of the others.
The choice is EYE UP ITS THE BOSS (nap) who has gone very close to winning off similar marks the last twice.

1.88/1(-7%) | (2) Let Her Loose 1.88/1, 17/2, second of 8 in handicap at Haydock (11.6f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Leading claims off the same mark with Brodie Hampson again doing the steering. Back in good form when clear second under Brodie Hampson at Haydock this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (14/1 -17%) Stormingin |
14/1(-17%) | (5) Stormingin 14/1, Ungenuine type. Last of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (13.3f, 17/2) 33 days ago, unsuited by way race developed. Capable of getting involved off this sort of mark but others look stronger on balance. Dual AW winner this year; also effective on turf but didn't fire on latest outing. |

3rd (4) (2.5/1 +17%) Hidden Pearl |
2.5/1(+17%) | (4) Hidden Pearl 2.5/1, 3/1, won 8-runner handicap at Yarmouth (14.1f, good to firm) 12 days ago, going clear. 4 lb rise by no means the end of the world, for all that she didn't beat much that day, and another bold show anticipated. Just 2-36 in career but recent Yarmouth success was gained in very good style. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (5/1 +29%) Nevendon |
5/1(+29%) | (3) Nevendon 5/1, 14/1, creditable second of 5 in handicap hurdle at Fakenham (16f, good to firm) 23 days ago. Modest performer in this sphere and he's probably worth taking on, despite the fact that Serena Brotherton takes the ride. Not easy to weigh up on this Flat return, but has done well over hurdles for new stable. |

5th (6) (18/1 -50%) Cirrus |
18/1(-50%) | (6) Cirrus 18/1, Remains a maiden after 20 Flat runs. Ninth of 13 in handicap at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm, 14/1) 22 days ago. Likely to find a few too good once more. Close third at start of this month but well held since and now 0-26. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (4/1 -14%) Geelong |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Geelong 4/1, Creditable second of 5 in handicap (13/8) at Chepstow (12f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Down 2 lb and ought to make his presence felt. This month's well-held second at Chepstow came in an uncompetitive race; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (80/1 -60%) Vision Clear |
80/1(-60%) | (7) Vision Clear 80/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2018. 28/1, last of 4 in handicap at this C&D (soft) 7 days ago and he's readily passed over. Has struggled to get competitive for new stable this year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Fresh from a very successful week at Royal Ascot, the Archie Watson team can strike again with LET HER LOOSE, who returned to form with a solid runner-up effort at Haydock last time out. The six-year-old is 3lb below her last winning mark, which may be enough to see off the likes of Geelong and Hidden Pearl, who scored over a couple of furlongs further at Yarmouth.
Preference is for LET HER LOOSE, who was the only one to get near the favourite when runner-up off this career-low mark at Haydock recently and she's entitled to come on for that run given that she was returning from a 6-month break. Hidden Pearl did the job well at Yarmouth and should be in the thick of things once again, while Geelong is best of the rest.
Preference is for LET HER LOOSE, who returned to form with a good effort in higher-grade company at Haydock this month.

150/1(-50%) | (1) Gaazooo 150/1, Poor gelding. Difficult ask. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KIARAAD offered plenty to work with when second on his debut at Lingfield earlier in the month and any improvement could make the son of Havana Grey tough to beat. Hondo ran with more encouragement when fourth at Thirsk last week and he can't be discounted, while Camusdarach may prove more competitive now returned to maiden company and completes the shortlist.
KIARAAD produced a promising first effort when second at Lingfield 2 weeks ago and might have got off to a winning start had he been a bit more clued up. He's preferred to the form pick Hondo, who may find the slight drop in trip against him.
This looks a good opportunity for KIARAAD, who kept on well for second on his debut at Lingfield a fortnight ago.

50/1(-25%) | (6) Sous Surveillance 50/1, 40/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at Chepstow (8.1f, good to firm) 11 days ago. Back up in trip and he's likely to struggle once more. Didn't take to hurdling this year and was soundly beaten on recent Flat return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Bodygroove is worthy of a market watch on his handicap debut and first start as gelding. He is upped in trip for his turf bow but he hasn't shown enough just yet, whereas C&D winner COME ON JOHN has the form in the book, with three career victories and a third at Yarmouth last time out. Feyha is another of interest dropping back in trip after weakening on her return. She could also get involved where it matters.
This represents a good opportunity for ETON BLUE, who bumped into an improver from the Sir Mark Prescott yard on his recent reappearance here and this drop back in trip is unlikely to pose a problem. Come On John has been in good form of late and is the clear main danger ahead of Feyha and handicap debutant Bodygroove.
This can go to ETON BLUE (nap), who made a perfectly respectable seasonal reappearance here 18 days ago and remains well handicapped.

1st (5) (1/1 +71%) Valley Of Flowers |
1/1(+71%) | (5) Valley Of Flowers 1/1, One win from 21 Flat runs. Good second of 9 in handicap (4/1) at Ripon (12f, good to firm) 5 days ago. Can make presence felt. Runner-up on both starts this season (once over C&D) and a likely contender again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (7/1 +42%) Visitant |
7/1(+42%) | (7) Visitant 7/1, Not the most reliable as a rule but comes here on the back of creditable placed efforts in handicaps at Catterick/Thirsk in recent weeks. Each-way possibilities again from his lowly mark. Placed on last three turf starts but this veteran has a poor strike-rate in recent years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (8.5/1 -6%) Odd Venture |
8.5/1(-6%) | (9) Odd Venture 8.5/1, Just one win from 27 Flat runs but not long with present yard and caught the eye when creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Catterick (12.1f, good, 15/2) 43 days ago, no room from over 2f out and not knocked about. No win since 2021 but looked unlucky when running-on fourth at Catterick last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/1 +29%) Tiberio Force |
5/1(+29%) | (6) Tiberio Force 5/1, Blinkered for 1st time, good third of 7 in handicap (15/2) at Pontefract (10f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Back up in trip. Sound effort when third at Pontefract this month and will be fine over this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (7/1 -40%) Lawmans Blis |
7/1(-40%) | (3) Lawmans Blis 7/1, One win from 23 Flat runs. Fifth of 6 in handicap (6/1) at Ayr (13.1f, good to firm) 35 days ago, folding final 1f. Ease in trip rates a likely plus and not out of things from this mark for all he's never been the strongest of finishers. Went close off reduced mark on AW last month but subsequent turf return was underwhelming. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (28/1 -12%) Wrens Rose |
28/1(-12%) | (2) Wrens Rose 28/1, Lightly-raced mare who was successful on second of 3 starts in maiden/novice company (at 11f) last year. Never figured on handicap debut at Southwell (14.1f) in January and since left Simon Pearce. Blinkers go on and betting may prove best guide back from almost 6 months off. AW novice winner; flopped on handicap debut; sports blinkers for stable/turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (16/1 -14%) The Writer |
16/1(-14%) | (8) The Writer 16/1, Unreliable individual. First run since leaving James Ferguson when tenth of 13 in handicap at Thirsk (12f, good, 25/1) 22 days ago, struggling 3f out and never dangerous. Yard amongst the winners and this should reveal more. Well down the field when upped to 1m4f for seasonal/stable debut and now 0-8. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
VALLEY OF FLOWERS once again found only one rival too strong at Ripon last Thursday and she looks likely to pick up a race of this nature sooner or later. The five-year-old makes most appeal, ahead of Smart Lass, who has been hitting some form of late and is back down to a dangerous mark. Isle of Wolves reverts to turf and is another who can't be discounted off his current rating.
ISLE OF WOLVES' strike rate tempers enthusiasm but his consistency has been hard to knock for Harriet Bethell and, having not been seen to best effect on his latest outing at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago, he could be worth chancing to capitalise on what looks a workable mark. Valley of Flowers, following her second at Ripon on Thursday, and Odd Venture, who caught the eye at Catterick, head the dangers. Smart Lass can't be ruled out either.
This might go to TIBERIO FORCE, who ran well in first-time blinkers at Pontefract this month and competes off another career-low mark.

1st (2) (1.5/1 +14%) Sir Winston |
1.5/1(+14%) | (2) Sir Winston 1.5/1, C&D winner in May. 6/4, very good second of 8 in handicap at Chepstow (7.1f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Another bold showing is likely nudged up 1 lb. Improver who won over C&D (firm) last month before going close at Chepstow; big player. |

2nd (3) (7/1 -8%) Tolstoy |
7/1(-8%) | (3) Tolstoy 7/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/1, good third of 9 in handicap at Sandown (5f, good to firm) 11 days ago, nearest finish. Significantly up in trip. Unreliable type, though. Placed at Sandown last time but he's now 0-16 since last win and is untried at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/1 -38%) Poetic Force |
9/1(-38%) | (6) Poetic Force 9/1, 3 wins from 12 runs this year. Creditable sixth of 10 in handicap at Windsor (8.1f, good to firm, 28/1) 22 days ago, not clear run. This course winner is not taken lightly. Veteran who seems most potent at 1m and he has some work to do back at this trip. |

4th (7) (22/1 -38%) King Of War |
22/1(-38%) | (7) King Of War 22/1, C&D winner. 11/2, 7 lengths last of 7 to Sir Winston in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 28 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Hard to predict but his last win was off 1lb higher over C&D; not ruled out. |

5th (4) (12/1 +40%) Mamillius |
12/1(+40%) | (4) Mamillius 12/1, 4-time course winner. Latest win at Lingfield in May. 14/1, raced alone when fifth of 6 in handicap at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) 16 days ago. Sort to bounce back. Four-time course winner and he could bounce back with a big run back at this track. |

6th (5) (3.33/1 +39%) Granary Queen |
3.33/1(+39%) | (5) Granary Queen 3.33/1, 7/2, good third of 6 in handicap at Goodwood (6f, good to firm) 18 days ago, despite being very slowly away. Took this event 12 months ago so she's firmly in the mix. Won this last year and she's had several close calls since November; dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (11/1 -10%) Ideal Guest |
11/1(-10%) | (8) Ideal Guest 11/1, C&D winner. Below-form fifth of 7 in handicap (15/2) at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Dual C&D winner who is on a reduced mark but he needs a major revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (10/1 -82%) Whispering Song |
10/1(-82%) | (1) Whispering Song 10/1, Lightly-raced winner. Off 7 months before eighth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 13 days ago when not ideally placed. Can take a step forward. Still lightly raced but she needs to resume her progress back up on turf. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
SIR WINSTON looks to have plenty in his favour, following a C&D success in late May with a close-up second at Chepstow. He has been upped another 1lb, but Aidan Keeley claims 5lb and that may make the difference. Granary Queen has consistency on her side after a third at Goodwood and she can go well again. Whispering Song and Tolstoy are others to consider.
SIR WINSTON arrives on the up so this C&D winner is fancied to quickly resume winning ways off just a 1 lb higher mark than when a very good Chester second last time. Granary Queen landed this contest 12 months ago and is again much respected along with course-winner Poetic Force, who didn't enjoy the rub of the green when sixth at Windsor.
Preference is for Roger Varian's improver SIR WINSTON, who won over C&D last month and was only narrowly denied at Chepstow last time.

1st (7) (9/1 +25%) Freak Out |
9/1(+25%) | (7) Freak Out 9/1, Creditable third of 9 in handicap (9/1) at this C&D (good to firm) 17 days ago, not clear run under 2f out. Been given a definite chance by the assessor if he can build on that now. Shunted about before keeping on well for third over C&D this month; still on good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4.5/1 -13%) Strawman |
4.5/1(-13%) | (2) Strawman 4.5/1, C&D winner. 15/2, respectable third of 7 in handicap at Ripon (12f, good) 6 days ago, effort over 1f out and keeping on. Not out of things from this sort of mark on balance. Looked stretched by 1m4f when respectable third at Ripon on Wednesday; back in trip here. |

3rd (8) (9/1 +18%) Shine On Brendan |
9/1(+18%) | (8) Shine On Brendan 9/1, 17/2, good second of 9 in handicap at Hamilton (9.2f, good to firm) 19 days ago, headed only late on. Should give another good account for all this looks a deeper affair. Holds no secrets from the handicapper but is in good form and likely to be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (4.5/1 -13%) Bobby's Blessing |
4.5/1(-13%) | (6) Bobby's Blessing 4.5/1, Overcame inexperience to make winning debut over extended 7f here last month and matched that form without being seen to best effect when third at Lingfield (7.6f) 15 days ago, unable to open up until late on. Could yet do better now handicapping up in trip. Won over 7.4f here on last month's debut and moves into a handicap with obvious potential. |

5th (3) (3.33/1 +70%) Casilli |
3.33/1(+70%) | (3) Casilli 3.33/1, 5-time course winner. Seventh of 11 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm, 16/1) 16 days ago, not well placed to land a telling blow. Has fallen back down to last winning mark and she's always worthy of a second look at this venue. Five-time course winner; yet to strike form this year but can't be opposed with confidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (14/1 +30%) Frankendael |
14/1(+30%) | (5) Frankendael 14/1, C&D winner. 7/2, fourth of 5 in handicap at Ripon (12f, good to firm) 26 days ago, hampered slightly under 2f out and fading. Remains early days with him but he may just need some leniency from the assessor. C&D novice winner in September; safely held in two handicaps this spring but not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Bashful recorded arguably a career-best performance when supplementing a Hamilton triumph at Newcastle last week and he must enter calculations turned out quickly under a penalty. Preference, however, is for Charlie Johnston's lightly-raced BOBBY'S BLESSING, who makes his handicap debut off what looks a workable mark. Westernesse and Shine On Brendan both arrive in fine fettle and also warrant consideration in an open event.
WESTERNESSE was caught further back than ideal following a rare tardy start at York 11 days ago but confirmed himself still in top form when staying on to take third close home. Still unexposed at this sort of trip, he could be the answer here from a handy draw. The thriving Bashful may emerge as the chief threat in his hat-trick bid, with Freak Out, very much an eye-catcher here latest, and Bobby's Blessing others to consider.
Another chance can be given to WESTERNESSE, who didn't have the race run to suit when third at York and remains unexposed over 1m2f.

10/1(-54%) | (5) Equiami 10/1, Winner at Southwell in April. 17/2, last of 10 in handicap at Yarmouth (8f, good to firm) 19 days ago. Can make presence felt if shrugging off latest effort. Won at Southwell (1m, AW) in April but he's run poorly in both subsequent runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Bear To Dream filled the runner-up spot over C&D recently and she has to be considered once more off the same mark. However, preference is for VOODOO RAY, who probably found a mile too far on his comeback but produced a pleasing performance when second over track and trip off a 1lb higher mark back in September. Pull The Lever is an interesting contender in first-time cheekpieces.
BEAR TO DREAM signalled she's ready to strike again when second over C&D a fortnight ago so this C&D scorer edges the vote in a trappy handicap. Too Funky also looked on the way back when fourth here last time and is next on the list ahead of the returning Ravi Road who failed for stamina when fifth over hurdles at Stratford last time out.
This can go to the in-form filly BEAR TO DREAM, who has a record of 132132 in handicaps at this track and remains feasibly treated.

Absent since and progress required if she's to figure here. Modest form, including when stepped up to this trip on handicap debut at Newcastle latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Timedtoperfection is worth a second look off this mark, despite her maiden status, with the Fahey yard in decent form. She might appreciate the step up in trip, but may have to settle for a place if RED FORT makes the most of a drop in grade following his encouraging Haydock third off 1lb higher. Cantalupo Bella is also of interest if she can repeat the level of form that carried her into third at Wolverhampton two starts ago.
BRABUSACH surely has a race like this in him and can get off the mark if lining up again after Monday's Chepstow second. Red Fort rates a big threat, with Cantalupo Bella and handicap debutant Portoro others worth monitoring.
Although Red Fort is an obvious contender, a chance is taken on BAILAR CONTIGO who should fare better now going right-handed.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BERNARD SPIERPOINT has recorded a quickfire double this month, with both victories coming in classified events. He now returns to the handicapping ranks and is fancied to round out the hat-trick. The main threat may be Rhythmic Acclaim, who was second to the high-flying Quinault at Chelmsford and if she can put in a similar bid, she should have a say. Red Alert must also be considered on the back of a couple of wins over C&D.
RED ALERT is thriving since the cheekpieces went back on and a 4 lb penalty doesn't look sufficient to prevent him from bagging a quick C&D hat-trick. Bernard Spierpoint is also enjoying a purple patch and rates the obvious threat in his own hat-tirck bid. Fellow C&D scorer Porfin appeals as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
Lightly raced filly RHYTHMIC ACCLAIM was a clear second to a handicap blot in April and competes off the same mark here.

1st (3) (5/1 +9%) Clearance |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Clearance 5/1, C&D winner who dispelled some lesser efforts on Flat when fourth over hurdles at Fontwell (19.2f) on penultimate start in May. Strictly below that level when fifth in 8-runner handicap back there 30 days ago but no forlorn hope on balance. C&D winner off 2lb higher last summer and returns here in fair form; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (3/1 -9%) Enthused |
3/1(-9%) | (2) Enthused 3/1, Fairly useful Flat winner who was suited by the emphasis on speed over 19.6f when off the mark over hurdles at Huntingdon (19.6f) on penultimate start in May. Similar form when third at Fakenham (20f) earlier this month and one to consider with yard in fine form. In good form at around 2m4f this spring and can cope with this drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/1 +9%) Afta Party |
10/1(+9%) | (5) Afta Party 10/1, Fairly useful Flat winner for Alice Haynes. Not at that level over hurdles so far, shaping like a non-stayer when fourth in a course novice (21.5f) 3 weeks ago. Tongue tie refitted now dropped back in trip. Made quite promising start to hurdling career but seems to have lost his way this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (3/1 +60%) Ranco |
3/1(+60%) | (6) Ranco 3/1, Capitalised on much-reduced mark to make a winning stable debut over C&D last summer and plenty of good efforts in defeat thereafter. Shaped as if needing the run back from 6 months off at Worcester (20f) 6 weeks ago and better showing anticipated on back of wind op. Made low-key return last month but won over C&D last summer; no surprise if he features. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (5/1 +17%) Urabamba |
5/1(+17%) | (9) Urabamba 5/1, Just one win from 22 starts but did step up on his return over fences when fourth in a C&D handicap hurdle 2 weeks ago. Needs to step up on that if he's to figure. Has modest strike-rate but ran well over C&D when back over hurdles this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (14/1 -27%) Twilight Girl |
14/1(-27%) | (1) Twilight Girl 14/1, Fair hurdler/chaser in Ireland. Multiple point winner since but he was let down by his jumping on yard debut in 3m hunter chase at Fakenham (3m) in April. Last of 3 finishers between the Flags subsequently and bounce back called for returned to timber. 3-6 in points this year; tricky to weigh up here, but well handicapped on Irish rules form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (66/1 -313%) Off The Planet |
66/1(-313%) | (4) Off The Planet 66/1, Record became distinctly patchy for Philip Hobbs, tailed off when falling 3 out at Warwick in spring 2022. Unsuccessful in points subsequently and the market may prove a useful guide on belated Rules return. Hasn't shown a great deal in maiden points this year; looks risky on rules return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (7) (18/1 -50%) Pepsiwithacap |
18/1(-50%) | (7) Pepsiwithacap 18/1, Just modest form (although managed to win a race) over hurdles in Ireland. Performed respectably on Flat upon joining present yard but easy to back and disappointing when pulled up over hurdles at Plumpton (15.9f) in May. Blinkers reached for now/following wind op. Started off for yard with two good Flat runs but struggled when returned to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (7.5/1 -50%) Professor Calculus |
7.5/1(-50%) | (8) Professor Calculus 7.5/1, Improved in jumping department when off the mark in a first-time visor at Taunton (19f) in February. Well held next 3 starts but stopped the slide with headgear left off when third in a C&D handicap 3 weeks ago. Not out of things with a repeat. Not easy to predict but returned to form with C&D third this month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PROFESSOR CALCULUS put in a solid display to make the frame over C&D earlier in the month. The five-year-old has been left on the same mark and that gives him leading claims of recording his second career success. One to watch out for is Enthused, who takes a step back down in distance and has to be respected off 1lb higher than when third as favourite at Fakenham. Urabamba completes the shortlist.
A winner on his penultimate start at Huntingdon in May, ENTHUSED again ran well when third at Fakenham 23 days ago and, with his in-form rider taking off a valuable 5 lb, he looks sure to go well again. Clearance and Professor Calculus may emerge as the chief threats.
The answer might be C&D winner CLEARANCE, who wasn't beaten far when fourth in a stronger race than this at Fontwell last month.

2.75/1(+21%) | (4) Ski Jump 2.75/1, 10/1 and visored for 1st time, eighth of 11 in handicap at Pontefract (10f, good) 32 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and reproduction of his previous effort here would put him in the picture. Third in good race here in May; too keen in visor latest; cheekpieces back on; chance. |

2nd (1) (3.33/1 +17%) Lincoln Rockstar |
3.33/1(+17%) | (1) Lincoln Rockstar 3.33/1, Lightly-raced winner. 11/2, seventh of 9 in nursery at Southwell (8.1f) when last seen 8 months ago. Up in trip on this seasonal reappearance/debut for new yard and she's one to consider. 1m nursery winner for the Johnstons last term; 1m2f should suit; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/1 -13%) Stelios |
9/1(-13%) | (8) Stelios 9/1, 22/1, respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at this course (12.1f, good) 42 days ago. Live each-way chance. Pulled hard when 3l behind Ski Jump over 1m4f here last time; shorter trip may suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (33/1 -65%) Navy Wren |
33/1(-65%) | (10) Navy Wren 33/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap (25/1) at Catterick (12.1f, good to firm) 17 days ago and looks set for another struggle. Ordinary form at up to 1m4f; needs to improve markedly to take this from out of the h'cap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4.5/1 +10%) Future Times |
4.5/1(+10%) | (6) Future Times 4.5/1, Bit below form fifth of 11 in handicap at Leicester (10f, good, 15/2) 28 days ago. Runner-up on penultimate start at Hamilton, form which entitles him to respect in this contest. Chance on his Hamilton second two runs back; not so good last time but a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (6.5/1 +35%) Greek Siren |
6.5/1(+35%) | (2) Greek Siren 6.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 7 in handicap (9/1) at this C&D (soft) 57 days ago. Interesting to see how she gets on now tackling faster ground, as she showed ability in maiden/novice company. Well beaten in both handicaps including over 1m2f; on a good mark but a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (10/1 +0%) Texas Boy |
10/1(+0%) | (5) Texas Boy 10/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, seventh of 9 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.2f, good, 17/2) 43 days ago. Significantly back up in trip and it's probably best to look elsewhere. Ex-Irish; well beaten for this yard including back on turf after being gelded last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (7.5/1 +63%) The Go To |
7.5/1(+63%) | (7) The Go To 7.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1, fifth of 6 in handicap at Redcar (8f, heavy) 71 days ago. Back up in trip and she needs to raise her game. Unexposed; well beaten on h'cap debut (1m, soft); may do better up in trip on faster going. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (33/1 -230%) Patriot's Choice |
33/1(-230%) | (9) Patriot's Choice 33/1, Unreliable sort. Seventh of 8 in handicap (11/1) at Ripon (8f, good to firm) 20 days ago. Up in trip and he's hard to warm to, for all that he's in good hands. Well beaten on all starts so far, including on h'cap debut (hung left); first run at 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (33/1 -230%) Little Roman |
33/1(-230%) | (3) Little Roman 33/1, Winner at Kempton in January. Last of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 9/1). Off 101 days and opposable back on turf. 1m AW winner in January; right-handed track should suit but can pull hard so 1m2f a worry. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Little Roman won off this mark at Kempton in January and although beaten twice since, he returns from a three-month break and may do better for it. Future Times and Ski Jump are others for the shortlist, but LINCOLN ROCKSTAR gets the vote. A winner at Redcar in September last year for the Johnstons, she has her first start for David O'Meara now and if a change of scenery brings her back to her best, top weight may not be enough to stop her.
LINCOLN ROCKSTAR signed off her 2-y-o campaign for the Johnstons on a low-key note but she had improved when landing a Redcar nursery in September and is interesting returned to turf/upped in trip on debut for new yard. If judged on what they showed on their penultimate starts, Future Times and Ski Jump are major players, while Stelios is not without each-way appeal and Greek Siren isn't written off either.
Although not at his best last time, SKI JUMP has a couple of decent runs to his name and is taken to beat Future Times.

1st (10) (3.33/1 +45%) Mrembo |
3.33/1(+45%) | (10) Mrembo 3.33/1, Just the one win from 15 starts but lightly raced at this trip and she ran up to her best when fourth in 13-runner handicap at Windsor (11.5f) 3 weeks ago, no extra final 50 yds. Another not ruled out. 1lb above sole winning mark and ran well when fourth at Windsor last time; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7.5/1 -88%) Lucky's Dream |
7.5/1(-88%) | (3) Lucky's Dream 7.5/1, Prolific winner on AW who proved he retains ability on back of lengthy absence/wind op when third in 4-runner Salisbury handicap (12f) 2 weeks ago. Very well treated if able to build on that. Made a fair return from a mammoth absence last time; claims if this doesn't come too soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/1 +64%) Charlie Arthur |
9/1(+64%) | (6) Charlie Arthur 9/1, Tasted success twice last year, latterly at Thirsk (12f) in May and made the frame from inflated marks on turf/AW 3 times thereafter. Feasible to think first start for 9 months was needed at Southwell (12f) 14 days ago and much lower mark to operate from back on turf. Just 1lb higher than for sole turf success and should be all the better for recent return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7.5/1 +46%) Rolypolymoly |
7.5/1(+46%) | (5) Rolypolymoly 7.5/1, Maiden on the Flat but did managed to bag pair of juvenile hurdles at Uttoxeter/Worcester last summer. Disappointed on final start in that sphere at Chepstow in the autumn and others appeal more on balance back from 8 months off. Off nine months, but if returning near his best he would have a chance off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (8.5/1 -143%) Mawkeb |
8.5/1(-143%) | (2) Mawkeb 8.5/1, Dual 1m winner at Chelmsford who dispelled a lesser run at Beverley when third at Nottingham (10.2f) earlier this month. Mark has eased a little more and possibilities if seeing out the longer trip. Both wins have come on AW; lightly raced on turf but a fair third at Nottingham last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (5/1 +44%) Thunder Flash |
5/1(+44%) | (7) Thunder Flash 5/1, Successful twice during a consistent spell on the Flat last summer. Went the wrong way in trio of maiden/novice hurdle starts but best excused his reappearance run at Doncaster (11.9f) in May slipping on bend and losing action. Better anticipated with cheekpieces back on. Won twice on the Flat last summer, but still 4lb higher than for the latest so more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (11/1 +67%) Delphi Dreamer |
11/1(+67%) | (1) Delphi Dreamer 11/1, Fair form in trio of AW novice events during the winter but easy to back and possibly needed the run on return/handicap debut at Yarmouth (10f) in May. Needs to show benefit of that run if he's to figure here up in trip. Failed to beat a rival on turf/handicap debut at Yarmouth last month; enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (50/1 -127%) Shabano |
50/1(-127%) | (4) Shabano 50/1, Fair maiden on Flat (up to 1¼m) for Ed Walker. Raced freely/jumped none too fluently when well held sixth of 7 on yard/hurdles bow at Huntingdon (15.8f) in May and market may prove the best guide returned to the level. Eyeshields added. Maiden who has shown some ability for other yards; even more headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (3.2/1 +29%) Bobby Kennedy |
3.2/1(+29%) | (8) Bobby Kennedy 3.2/1, Returned to form back from 5 months off when second in 14-runner Bath handicap (11.6f) in April. Proved too free and never figured at Leicester (11.8f) on latest outing 4 weeks ago and his record is a patchy one overall. Didn't build on a promising reappearance in April; probably prefers it softer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MAWKEB offered more encouragement when staying on into third over 1m2f at Nottingham and a 2lb drop in the ratings combined with a stiffer test may be enough to see Mick Appleby's gelding return to winning ways. Trojan Truth was somewhat underwhelming at the same venue a few days later, but he would hold leading claims on previous form and it's too soon to be writing him off. Mrembo could have a say too.
LUCKY'S DREAM confirmed he retains ability on the back of a lengthy absence when finishing a close-up third at Salisbury recently, that despite not being seen to best effect off a steady gallop. Potentially very well handicapped, he could be worth chancing to build on that here. Charlie Arthur, third in this race 12 months ago, should be sharper for his Southwell reappearance and is feared, with Trojan Truth and Mrembo also worth a look.
The vote goes to MREMBO who was a close fourth in a big field at Windsor last time and has been dropped another 1lb since.

1st (5) (1/1 +29%) Max Of Stars |
1/1(+29%) | (5) Max Of Stars 1/1, Modest maiden on the Flat but showed aptitude for this discipline when second of 5 in juvenile hurdle at Hexham (16.2f, good, 9/2) on NH debut 24 days ago. May well do better. Ran well in defeat on hurdling debut at Hexham and this easier track ought to suit her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/1 +75%) Vitani |
5/1(+75%) | (6) Vitani 5/1, Poor maiden on the Flat who ran up to best when third of 6 in handicap at Bath (14f, firm) 18 days ago. Improvement needed to make presence felt on switch to hurdling. Lowly rated maiden on the Flat but stays well and is half-sister to a hurdle winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (14/1 -17%) Kilcummin |
14/1(-17%) | (2) Kilcummin 14/1, Fair maiden on Flat, stays 1½m, showed best form on AW thus far. Joined Mark Gillard ahead of NH debut and worth a check in market on hurdles bow. 0-7 on the Flat but not devoid of ability, and should be fine stamina-wise over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (3.33/1 -67%) Waitara |
3.33/1(-67%) | (7) Waitara 3.33/1, Half-sister to fair 17f hurdle winner Thea. Fair on Flat in France, winning claimer at Toulouse (10.4f) when last seen in March. Since joined David Pipe and must enter calculations on hurdles debut. Wears tongue strap. 2-6 on the Flat in France; looks an interesting candidate for juvenile hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (6/1 -33%) Uncle Matthew |
6/1(-33%) | (4) Uncle Matthew 6/1, Fair performer on Flat who showed improved form to get off the mark at Southwell (11.1f) in March. Below that level when fourth on yard/hurdles debut at Hexham (16.2f) earlier this month but is entitled to build on that. AW winner; behind Max Of Stars on hurdle debut but positives can be drawn from that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (100/1 -52%) Ceejaybe |
100/1(-52%) | (1) Ceejaybe 100/1, Little show in minor event/maiden on Flat and likely best watched on jumps debut. Struggled to get competitive when a big-priced outsider for two 1m AW races; hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MAX OF STARS had Uncle Matthew a couple of places behind her when runner-up at Hexham and it's hard to imagine that form could be overturned, even with the latter sporting a first-time visor and a reapplied tongue tie. The chances of Ollie Pears' filly are aided further by the booking of champion jockey Brian Hughes and she should prove very tough to beat. Kilcummin is rated 57 on the Flat and could get involved on his jumping bow. David Pipe's French recruit Waitara is also very much in contention.
MAX OF STARS should have learnt plenty from her encouraging Hexham hurdles debut and can get off the mark. French-import Waitara is feared most, particularly if the market speaks in her favour, whilst Uncle Matthew is best of the rest.
After a good second at Hexham on her hurdling debut, MAX OF STARS can go one better on this easier track.

50/1(-52%) | (4) Glamorous Joy 50/1, Foaled May 6. Land Force filly. Dam 5f winner out of useful winner up to 5f (including at 2 yrs) Glamorous Spirit. Speedily bred, but stable not known for winning 2yo newcomers. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DELICACY only gave way inside the final furlong when fifth on her debut at Kempton and Richard Hannon's filly could put that experience to good use to gain a breakthrough success. Crooked Crown won with something in hand at Chepstow and she isn't taken lightly, despite conceding weight all round. Woodhay Wonder wasn't that far behind the selection on her introduction and is another to consider.
DELICACY was unfancied in the betting but showed plenty to work on when fifth in a Kempton maiden and can put that experience to good use. Bint Havana Grey looks an interesting newcomer with the champion jockey booked, so may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of the penalised Crooked Crown, who won a weak maiden at Chepstow.
Preference is for DELICACY who probably did well to finish as close as she did on her Kempton debut given she was sent off 25-1.

1.38/1(+0%) | (1) Farouk De Cheneau 1.38/1, Improved on his first outing since leaving Nicky Henderson when easily winning 4-runner handicap chase at Fontwell (19.5f, good to firm, 9/4) 40 days ago in a first-time tongue strap after 7 months off. Looks capable of following up. Easily beat his three rivals on stable debut at Fontwell last month; up 8lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (3.33/1 +26%) Fat Sam |
3.33/1(+26%) | (3) Fat Sam 3.33/1, Did plenty wrong when third in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter 30 days ago but he's better over fences and has been given a chance by the handicapper (won over C&D last summer off 2 lb higher). Two satisfactory hurdle runs this spring; C&D winner last July off 2lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7.5/1 +25%) Kauto The King |
7.5/1(+25%) | (5) Kauto The King 7.5/1, Completed the hat-trick in this race last summer off 13 lb higher. Has gone the wrong way since, however, his temperament seemingly getting the better of him. Won this off 13lb higher last year but has been out of form in recent starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (4/1 -33%) Midnight Jewel |
4/1(-33%) | (4) Midnight Jewel 4/1, Consistent performer who enhanced his excellent strike rate over fences when scoring by a head at Bangor 17 days ago under this rider. Should go well again up 5 lb. Consistent and genuine; scrambled home off 5lb lower latest; looks sure to run well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (6.5/1 -18%) Stormin Crossgales |
6.5/1(-18%) | (2) Stormin Crossgales 6.5/1, Low-mileage hurdles winner who improved to make winning return/chase debut at Wincanton (15.7f) in November. Has failed to kick on on in 3 starts since, however, so percentage call is to look elsewhere with step up in trip not sure to suit. Has been running well and chance depends in part on how he takes to longer trip; hood off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
They didn't see which way FAROUK DE CHENEAU went at Fontwell, with the eight-year-old hosing up on his debut for Anthony Honeyball. He has been hit with an 8lb rise but considering the manner of his victory, that's unlikely to stop him from making it a double. The main danger might be recent Bangor victor Midnight Jewel, who can go well once more off 5lb higher, although Stormin Crossgales can't be ruled out.
FAROUK DE CHENEAU made an impressive winning start for this yard at Fontwell on his return last month and looks capable of defying an 8 lb rise. The prolific Midnight Jewel is a solid alternative, though Fat Sam and Kauto The King are both lurking on dangerous marks.
A competitive-looking little race can go to FAT SAM (nap), who is back on a good mark.

1st (5) (5.5/1 -83%) Shuwari |
5.5/1(-83%) | (5) Shuwari 5.5/1, Foaled March 6. 80,000 gns yearling, New Bay filly. Half-sister to useful 1¼m winner True Scarlet and 2-y-o 7f winner Elusive Artist. Dam winner up to 1¼m (2-y-o 8.3f winner). Something to like on pedigree, but this looks a stiff task on debut. |

2nd (3) (1.1/1 +45%) Lady Of Leisure |
1.1/1(+45%) | (3) Lady Of Leisure 1.1/1, 115,000 gns yearling, Masar filly. Dam, winner up to 8.6f (2-y-o 1m winner), half-sister to smart 1¼m winner Crystal Pegasus. Promising second of 7 in novice event at Haydock (7f, good to firm, 9/2) on debut 32 days ago. Form pick and may well do better. Runner-up on her Haydock debut and third has won since; respected. |

3rd (1) (1.88/1 +25%) Pink Satin |
1.88/1(+25%) | (1) Pink Satin 1.88/1, Churchill filly. Closely related to smart winner up to 1½m Highland Chief (won first time up) and half-sister to 3 winners, including winner up to 1¾m Tartan Chief and 1¼m winner African. 11/1, won 11-runner novice at Windsor (6f, good to soft) on debut 15 days ago. Open to improvement. Won nicely on her Windsor debut and is a major player despite the penalty. |

4th (2) (8.5/1 -89%) Balletic |
8.5/1(-89%) | (2) Balletic 8.5/1, Foaled April 8. 100,000 gns yearling, Masar filly. Closely related to 1m-10.7f winner Approach The City and half-sister to useful winner up to 8.6f Laieth and smart winner up to 1m Midtown. Dam winner up to 1m (2-y-o 6f winner). Interesting newcomer. Takes on rivals who have already shown ability, but attractively bred; market revealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (25/1 +0%) Legal Beat |
25/1(+0%) | (4) Legal Beat 25/1, €4,500 yearling, Inns of Court filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including 1m winner Shanghai Dragon and 2-y-o 7f/1m winner Eyelool. 125/1, third of 15 in a weak maiden at this course (6f, firm) on debut 20 days ago, well drawn. Third at a huge price on her debut here, but plenty more will still be needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Pink Satin made the perfect start to her career when triumphing at Windsor and the daughter of Churchill must warrant consideration. She may, however, struggle to concede 6lb to LADY OF LEISURE. Andrew Balding's filly posted a second-placed finish on her debut at Haydock and is taken to build on that. Newcomer Balletic is a potential fly in the ointment and any market support is worth noting.
LADY OF LEISURE made a promising start when runner-up at Haydock and the 6 lb she receives from penalised-winner Pink Satin may prove decisive. Balletic is bred to be smart so is a newcomer to note.
This can go to PINK SATIN who looked a nice prospect when winning on her Windsor debut and she should relish this extra furlong.

1st (7) (3/1 +14%) Sassified |
3/1(+14%) | (7) Sassified 3/1, Fairly useful on Flat in Ireland for Johnny Murtagh and shaped a little better in this sphere when third of 12 in handicap at this course (16.8f, good to firm) 13 days ago. Shortlist material. Finished well when third over 2m1f here latest and the longer trip could help; live claims. |

2nd (9) (5.5/1 +31%) Escobedo |
5.5/1(+31%) | (9) Escobedo 5.5/1, Still without a victory on level or over hurdles and no signs of improvement, back from 3 months off, when fourth of 7 in handicap at Warwick (16f, good to firm, 13/2) 34 days ago. Others more persuasive. May improve on last month's Warwick fourth but needs to if he's to gain a first success. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (3/1 +14%) Moonshine Spirit |
3/1(+14%) | (1) Moonshine Spirit 3/1, In the frame on all 3 bumper starts and acquitted himself well in a trio of outings in this sphere, latest when second of 9 in novice at Worcester (16f, good to soft) 41 days ago. May be more to come now sent handicapping. Consistent in novices and considered on handicap debut back at slightly longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (7.5/1 +0%) One Man Party |
7.5/1(+0%) | (11) One Man Party 7.5/1, Well supported when disappointing fourth of 5 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (21.8f, good to firm) 30 days ago. Drop back in trip may suit but percentage call is to look elsewhere. Cheekpieces on first time/had wind operation. 3 lb out of the weights. Yet to be placed but promise two starts ago; wind op since poor latest run; cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (4.5/1 +18%) Heronord |
4.5/1(+18%) | (2) Heronord 4.5/1, Still looking for first win but showed benefit of reappearance run when creditable second of 6 in handicap hurdle (4/1) at Ffos Las (15.8f, good) 19 days ago. Ought to give another good account. Every chance on this month's Ffos Las second but that took his career record to 0-22. |

6th (4) (11/1 -10%) Fantomas |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Fantomas 11/1, Fortunate to score over fences at Uttoxeter in September and hasn't really threatened since, albeit he may have needed the run when sixth at Southwell (24.3f) latest. Respectable efforts this year; down in trip and professional handling this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (20/1 +0%) Eros |
20/1(+0%) | (6) Eros 20/1, Yet to score after 22 NH runs and has run poorly over fences the last twice. Best watched back hurdling. Maiden; often placed over fences; first hurdle start since March 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (28/1 +15%) Yaazaain |
28/1(+15%) | (8) Yaazaain 28/1, Poor maiden hurdler who has failed to complete over fences the last twice and makes little appeal back over the smaller obstacles here. Cheekpieces reapplied/had wind operation. 1-34 in career and that was a chase; wind surgery since being pulled up last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (40/1 -60%) Atlantic Breeze |
40/1(-60%) | (12) Atlantic Breeze 40/1, Superbly bred but not gone on from his Flat debut (trained in Ireland), showing little in 4 races over hurdles for Nigel Hawke, latest on handicap bow at Worcester last month. Best watched from 7 lb out of the weights. Poor on the Flat and over hurdles; 7lb out of the handicap but top jockey booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (40/1 -21%) What A Pleasure |
40/1(-21%) | (10) What A Pleasure 40/1, Modest in bumpers and well beaten all completed starts over hurdles, latest back from 14-month absence at Worcester 32 days ago. 3 lb out of the handicap. Unplaced all starts, including at Worcester on return from a year off; cheekpieces tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (80/1 -567%) Emanate |
80/1(-567%) | (3) Emanate 80/1, Poor maiden on the Flat. Not troubled the judge in 3 starts over timber but did offer more when fifth of 8 in novice at Worcester (16f, good) latest and is worth monitoring in market on handicap hurdle debut. May improve now in a handicap but he was a very modest maiden on the Flat. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HERONORD returned to timber when finding only a resurgent rival too strong at Ffos Las and Evan Williams' charge could gain a career first success off only 2lb higher in what appears a weaker contest. Moonshine Spirit makes his handicap debut off a fair mark and is feared most, ahead of Sassified, who ran with more encouragement when staying on to finish third over shorter here just under a fortnight ago.
Preference is for SASSIFIED, who has dropped to a handy mark and shaped with more encouragement here earlier this month. Moonshine Spirit and Heronord rate the principal dangers.
April's third in a big field at Exeter gives HILLSIN every chance in this open race.

1st (1) (2.25/1 +44%) Splendent |
2.25/1(+44%) | (1) Splendent 2.25/1, Scored at Windsor and improved further when third at York (11.8f) later in May. Shaped as if still in top form upped to 14f when fading fifth at Nottingham last time so needs considering back in trip with cheekpieces on for 1st time. Held over 1m6f last time, but previous effort over 1m4f could hardly be working out better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/1 +29%) Obsidian Knight |
5/1(+29%) | (5) Obsidian Knight 5/1, Notched a third success at Lingfield in January and has remained in good order, fifth of 11 in handicap at Newmarket (12f, soft) 52 days ago. Possibilities. Three wins on the AW, but modest in three attempts on turf; not hard to have reservations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (4/1 -33%) Latin Verse |
4/1(-33%) | (7) Latin Verse 4/1, Got off the mark at Lingfield in February. Blinkered for 1st time when good seventh of 11 in handicap at York (11.8f, firm) 40 days ago. Holds very good claims off a 2 lb lower mark. Out of the frame in both handicaps; still to prove that 1m4f on a galloping track is ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7.5/1 -15%) Noble Masquerade |
7.5/1(-15%) | (4) Noble Masquerade 7.5/1, Arrives in good nick, third of 6 in handicap at Windsor (11.4f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Needs considering once more eased 1 lb. Running well lately and a player if fast ground prevails. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (7.5/1 -88%) Vaynor |
7.5/1(-88%) | (2) Vaynor 7.5/1, Enjoyed a productive campaign in 2022, recording his fourth success at Chelmsford (13.3f) in November. Posted a good third of 10 in handicap at Goodwood (14f, good to firm) 11 days ago so he's in the mix. Four wins last year and ran well on second start back but this may be an insufficient test. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (5/1 +9%) Greystoke |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Greystoke 5/1, Reliable sort who landed 12f handicap at Chester in May. Not discredited after a poor start when sixth of 10 there 31 days ago. One for the shortlist. Won well at Chester last month, but held off this mark back there next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (14/1 +0%) Millions Memories |
14/1(+0%) | (6) Millions Memories 14/1, Got back on track when landing 4-runner handicap at Salisbury (12f, firm) 14 days ago. Up 3 lb but he can't be discounted. Beat three rivals at Salisbury last time; lack of consistency a bigger worry than 3lb rise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
VAYNOR may well be at his best over further but his most recent effort for third at Goodwood was highly encouraging and conditions should be in his favour as he looks to bounce back to winning ways. Millions Memories did it well at Salisbury last time out and he can give the selection the most to think about, although the usually consistent Greystoke can't be dismissed lightly.
None of these can be ruled out but LATIN VERSE is able to race off a 2 lb lower mark than when a good close seventh at York last time and can take full advantage. Vaynor is a consistent sort and seems sure to have a say on the back of his good Goodwood third along with Splendent, who should benefit from reverting in trip.
The choice is SPLENDENT who was held over 1m6f last time, but his previous third over 1m4f at York could hardly be working out better.

2nd (7) (2.25/1 +25%) Nickelsonthedime |
2.25/1(+25%) | (7) Nickelsonthedime 2.25/1, Resumed winning ways in 5-runner handicap hurdle at Warwick (26f, good) 27 days ago by neck from Premier D'troice, always holding on. Merits serious consideration despite a 3 lb rise. Not a prolific winner but made the most of a good opportunity at Warwick last month. |

4th (5) (20/1 -122%) Presenting Yeats |
20/1(-122%) | (5) Presenting Yeats 20/1, C&D winner but he virtually refused to race when last of 4 in handicap hurdle at Stratford (26.4f, good) 24 days ago. Hooded for 1st time. Others appeal more. In good form last summer/autumn but is often reluctant to race; comes with risk. |

5th (3) (4.5/1 +44%) Moon King |
4.5/1(+44%) | (3) Moon King 4.5/1, Doubled his tally over hurdles at Worcester (23f) last August. Returned from 5 months off with creditable third of 6 at Fontwell (25.8f, good to firm) 40 days ago. In the mix. Won off 2lb higher last year; not in same form since but may have needed last month's run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (12/1 -9%) Bbold |
12/1(-9%) | (6) Bbold 12/1, Fairly useful 3m winner at his best but yet to show that form for his current yard and turned in a laboured effort back in a handicap when second of 3 at Southwell (24.3f) 21 days ago. Has it to prove reverted to hurdles. Useful chaser at his best but has regressed; first hurdle run since January 2020. |

7th (1) (8/1 -78%) Jersey Wonder |
8/1(-78%) | (1) Jersey Wonder 8/1, Consistent type who made the frame for the fourth start running when beaten in a match at Exeter last time. Off 8 months but can't be dismissed off a handy-looking mark. Didn't always look wildly enthusiastic last year but a break might have done him good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (9/1 -6%) Czech Her Out |
9/1(-6%) | (4) Czech Her Out 9/1, Resumed from nearly 8 months off with 3m win at Southwell (24.3f) in April. Set lots to do when fair sixth of 12 at Worcester (23f, soft) 50 days ago so can't be ruled out on the back of breathing surgery. Came from a long way off the pace for big-priced success in April but soundly beaten since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It may pay to stick with last-time-out winner NICKELSONTHEDIME, who is only 3lb higher than for that Warwick success and he seems to go well for today's jockey. Czech Her Out isn't the easiest to predict, but she's capable on her day and a wind procedure since a Worcester defeat could revive her chances. The returning Jersey Wonder is also of interest.
NICKELSONTHEDIME had a bit left in the tank when scoring at Warwick last time so can defy a 3 lb rise in the weights at the chief expense of Czech Her Out who wasn't seen to best effect when sixth at Worcester last time and has had a subsequent wind op. Jersey Wonder returns from 8 months off but this reliable sort still can't be dismissed off a handy-looking mark.
Given a chance by the handicapper on today's return to hurdling, NAME IN LIGHTS could have untapped potential over this new trip.

7th (10) (25/1 -108%) Jimmy Lifestyle |
25/1(-108%) | (10) Jimmy Lifestyle 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden who posted his best effort on his handiap debut when fourth of 9 at Salisbury (6f, firm) 14 days ago. Shortlisted off a 2 lb lower mark. Only beaten just over 2l on recent turf/handicap debut, but he may need softer ground. |

33/1(-32%) | (2) Chindwin 33/1, Cost plenty as a yearling but she failed to pull up any trees in a handful of appearances in 2022, and then failed to beat a rival home when returning to action in a Goodwood handicap last month. Well beaten the last twice including on return/handicap debut; look elsewhere. |

9th (4) (2.25/1 +10%) Dream Of Mischief |
2.25/1(+10%) | (4) Dream Of Mischief 2.25/1, Fair 7f winner at 2yrs who comes here on the back of an unlcky second of 7 in handicap at Goodwood (8f, good to firm) 11 days ago, not clear run from 3f out. Can gain compensation nudged up 1 lb. Probably would have won at Goodwood last time with a clearer run; much respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (22/1 -22%) The Toff |
22/1(-22%) | (8) The Toff 22/1, Gained his breakthrough success at Lingfield (7f, AW) in May but has been in and out since, only seventh of 10 in handicap at Haydock (7f, firm) 13 days ago. Others appeal more. Ran well on penultimate start, but moderate either side and relatively exposed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
AURORA DAWN has done very well since switching to the turf and dropping back in trip should suit, having gone close at Haydock over a mile last month. The daughter of Awtaad still looks to be on a workable mark and she is narrowly preferred to Dream Of Mischief, who bounced back to form with a promising second at Goodwood. Big R and Saturnalia are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
DREAM OF MISCHIEF looked an unlcuky loser when runner-up at Goodwood last time and can make amends off just a 1 lb higher mark. Puffable made a promising start for Alice Haynes when third at the same track and rates a big threat eased 1 lb. Jimmy Lifestyle is another who has been lowered in the weights and can have a say in an open handicap.
This can go to DREAM OF MISCHIEF (nap) who was unlucky not to win at Goodwood 11 days ago. He can gain compensation off 1lb higher.

1st (5) (0.73/1 +51%) Songo |
0.73/1(+51%) | (5) Songo 0.73/1, Has failed to trouble the judge in 3 completed starts over hurdles, the latest of which was in April 2021. However, he's a fairly useful handicapper on the Flat (won 3 times last year) and, having performed well at Goodwood just 11 days ago, he's of strong interest back hurdling with Cobden booked. Good Flat performer at best; first hurdle start since 2021; hard to beat if all goes well. |

2nd (1) (3/1 -20%) Bala Brook |
3/1(-20%) | (1) Bala Brook 3/1, Failed to build on promise of his bumper debut at the second attempt in that sphere, and he didn't have much behind him when chasing home a long odds-on shot in a C&D maiden last month. Still, this is hardly a strong race, so it would be no surprise were he to play a part. Well held in bumpers; no danger when second over C&D on hurdle debut; still leading player. |

3rd (3) (5/1 -25%) Frankie Faulkner |
5/1(-25%) | (3) Frankie Faulkner 5/1, Little impact sole start under Rules in an Irish bumper back in February 2021. On the upside, he has won a couple of times between the flags in the interim, including on latest start in April, and it'll be interesting to see what the market has to say on this debut for new yard/hurdles bow. 4th (6) (20/1 -67%) Supreme Johnson |
20/1(-67%) | (6) Supreme Johnson 20/1, Dual point winner but overall record between the flags is hardly compelling, and he'll need to step up on what he's shown in bumpers in order to make a successful hurdles debut. Dual point winner; has run reasonably well in bumpers; each-way hopes on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (66/1 +34%) Etoile Brillante |
66/1(+34%) | (7) Etoile Brillante 66/1, No sign of ability in 3 bumpers and beaten a long way on hurdles debut /first run following a wind op in the C&D maiden won by Basford, finishing well adrift of the re-opposing runner-up Bala Brook. Well beaten in bumpers and tailed off on C&D hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (9/1 +0%) Ideal Vert |
9/1(+0%) | (4) Ideal Vert 9/1, Well held both starts in maiden hurdles for Gordon Elliott during the winter. Wide margin winner of a point in April but failed to complete either side of that (running out on latest start last month) and yard saddles a more appealing candidate in Bala Brook. Point winner but hasn't looked straightforward; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (100/1 +0%) Musical Mistress |
100/1(+0%) | (8) Musical Mistress 100/1, Pulled up sole start in points last month and she's hard to warm to now switched to hurdles. Pulled up in a maiden point last month; hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (150/1 -50%) Farnon |
150/1(-50%) | (2) Farnon 150/1, Well held on debut in an AW bumper in January and didn't fare much better starting out over hurdles in a C&D novice 20 days ago. No promise in a bumper or on this month's hurdle/stable debut; cheekpieces now fitted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
This can go the way of BALA BROOK, who ran a highly encouraging race when second on his hurdling debut over C&D. The winner has gone in again since and Joe Tizzard's charge can get off the mark at the main expense of Songo, who returns to this sphere after a decent effort on the Flat at Goodwood. Frankie Faulkner could be an interesting recruit for the Evan Williams stable.
With a creditable recent effort on the Flat at Goodwood under his belt, SONGO is taken to open his account in this sphere. The 7-y-o has hardly pulled up any trees in his 3 completed starts in this sphere but he will find few better opportunities than this and the booking of Harry Cobden adds to his appeal. Dual point winner Frankie Faulkner makes his hurdles debut at a realistic level and is feared most ahead of Bala Brook.
Altough not bombproof, SONGO is much the most talented of this field.

Ring Of Light |
(6) (5.5/1 -38%)5.5/1(-38%) | (6) Ring Of Light 5.5/1, Improved when runner-up on handicap debut at Newmarket last summer and winner of 7f/1m AW handicaps on final 3 starts of 2022. Nudged up just 2 lb for latest success and this lightly-raced 5-y-o will be a danger to all if fully tuned-up following a break. Completed an AW hat-trick last autumn, but has to prove himself back on turf; off 230 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) (12/1 -60%) Secret Strength |
12/1(-60%) | (3) Secret Strength 12/1, Modest strike rate (2-29) but arrives here on the back of a couple of creditable efforts in defeat, most notably when fourth in a 12-runner Class 2 handicap at Epsom (7f, good to firm) last time. Needs considering back down in class off a 1 lb lower mark. Signs of encouragement in his last two starts; each-way claims down another 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (22/1 +0%) Night Arc |
22/1(+0%) | (7) Night Arc 22/1, Improved when landing a 1¼m Leicester handicap on the second of just 2 appearances last season. Below that level both starts since returning from a 12-month absence but likely to be closer to concert pitch now and this drop back in trip may not be a bad thing. Showed more on his second start back from a lengthy absence, but drops 3f in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (16/1 +0%) King Of The Dance |
16/1(+0%) | (9) King Of The Dance 16/1, Low-mileage 4-y-o who stepped up on previous exploits when good second in a 1m Kempton handicap last August. Failed to build on that when reappearing over C&D recently but that run was probably needed and he shaped well sole start on turf as a juvenile. Just beaten at Kempton last August; probably needed recent return back there; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (8/1 -33%) Al Motasim |
8/1(-33%) | (11) Al Motasim 8/1, Showed ability in 3 starts at 2 yrs and improved when runner-up on return/debut for new yard at Haydock (7f, good) where he was just ahead of Starlight Nation. Not in the same form at Goodwood since but now tried in cheekpieces and probably worth another chance. Just beaten on his Haydock return, but disappointing at Goodwood last time; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/1 +36%) Bastogne |
9/1(+36%) | (2) Bastogne 9/1, Yet to add to 2-y-o maiden success and while he resumed with a creditable third of 8 off this mark on debut for new yard at Chepstow (7f, good to firm), others make more appeal from a win point of view. Third on stable debut after a year off at Chepstow this month; player if coming on for it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (2.75/1 +45%) Wadi Bani |
2.75/1(+45%) | (12) Wadi Bani 2.75/1, Remains winless following 10 attempts but ought to put that right before long having made the frame on 4 of his 5 starts since returning to action in March. Latest second at Doncaster (7f, good to firm) was a creditable effort and he shouldn't be far away. Second at Doncaster last time and would have gone closer with a clear run; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (4.5/1 +44%) Capote's Dream |
4.5/1(+44%) | (1) Capote's Dream 4.5/1, Prolific in 2021 but failed to add to his tally in handicaps last year. However, he has made the frame on 3 of his 4 starts this time round, including over 6f here (firm) recently, and this step back up in trip may well work in his favour. Down in grade, but still to prove he stays this far and unraced on ground faster than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (50/1 -25%) Plumette |
50/1(-25%) | (8) Plumette 50/1, Successful twice on the AW for David Loughnane since the turn of the year but well below par last time (albeit she was left poorly placed) and hasn't won on turf for over 4 years. Last five wins on the AW, but has won twice on turf; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (6/1 -50%) Starlight Nation |
6/1(-50%) | (10) Starlight Nation 6/1, Gradual progress since switched to handicaps, off the mark at Leicester (7f, good) 3 weeks ago. 3 lb rise is unlikely to debar another bold show with Tom Marquand again in the hot-seat. Only his second start on turf when winning at Leicester three weeks ago; respected up 3lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (50/1 -213%) Lunar Space |
50/1(-213%) | (5) Lunar Space 50/1, Listed winner at the Curragh for Jim Bolger in April 2021 but hasn't shown anything like that level of form since. Hard to recommend, for all that he continues to fall down the weights and is dropping to 0-75 company for the first time. Well beaten all six starts since debuting for this yard last summer; best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (18/1 +28%) Unsung Hero |
18/1(+28%) | (4) Unsung Hero 18/1, Back-to-back winner at Kempton last September but well held final 2 starts of 2022 and likely to need this following a 6-month absence. Tongue strap applied. Both wins from the front on the Kempton AW last September; may need the run; tongue-tie on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Ring of Light completed an all-weather hat-trick last autumn, but he is yet to win on the grass and may have to chase home WADI BANI here. Seamus Durack's three-year-old ran on into second at Doncaster after finding himself short of room and, barring similar mishaps, he can go one better. Al Motasim could be of interest in first-time cheekpieces, with Starlight Nation also in the reckoning.
Having performed with plenty of credit in a higher-grade handicap on Oaks day at Epsom, SECRET STRENGTH could be the answer to this competitive and open-looking contest. Starlight Nation has improved with each of his three starts since tackling handicaps and is feared greatly on the back of his Leicester success. Al Motasim failed to make an impact at Goodwood but remains of interest in view of his reappearance effort at Haydock, while Capote's Dream and Ring of Light are also shortlisted.
The vote goes to STARLIGHT NATION who was having his second start on turf when winning at Leicester last time and can defy a 3lb rise.

1st (5) (1/1 +20%) Junior Massini |
1/1(+20%) | (5) Junior Massini 1/1, Not entirely straightforward and modest over hurdles but has looked a different proposition switched to fences for new yard, winning 2 of his 3 starts in this sphere. Largely jumped well when making all at Bangor (3m, good) recently, for which a 4 lb rise is fair enough. On a hat-trick after Warwick and Bangor wins; obvious claims off 4lb higher mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.5/1 +30%) Seymour Promise |
3.5/1(+30%) | (4) Seymour Promise 3.5/1, Runner-up first 3 starts in handicap hurdles at up to 3¼m since returning from a 15-month absence in January. Form has dipped badly the last twice, though, including back in this sphere at the end of May, and connections now reach for blinkers. Second in three handicap hurdles this year but yet to show much over fences; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4.5/1 +25%) Tel'Art |
4.5/1(+25%) | (3) Tel'Art 4.5/1, Fair winner at 3¼m over hurdles for Ben Pauling and posted some respectable efforts in hunter chases for this yard last spring. More miss than hit since, though, and the percentage call is to look elsewhere in search of the likely winner. Doesn't appear to be as good as he was; 0-8 over fences; well beaten in a hurdle latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (4.5/1 -64%) Loved Out |
4.5/1(-64%) | (1) Loved Out 4.5/1, Just the one win from 19 starts over hurdles but he was placed on 10 occasions (including both completed starts at this course). On a fair mark for this chase debut and should have a part to play if his jumping passes the test. 1-19 over hurdles; can be competitive if taking to chasing on debut over fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
JUNIOR MASSINI has been a revelation since joining the Sheila Lewis stable and going over fences, backing up a Warwick victory at Bangor, and the hat-trick looks like a distinct possibility. The step up in trip is another plus and he is preferred to Loved Out, who has performed well over the smaller obstacles of late and is having his first start in this sphere. Seymour Promise is another to watch out for.
Though a winner of just one of his 19 hurdles starts, LOVED OUT has proven to be largely consistent in that sphere and may well be equal to this task, provided of course that he makes a good shape over fences at the first attempt. Junior Massini is probably not one to lump on at what will likely be a skinny price but is the obvious danger.
With the other three having something to prove, JUNIOR MASSINI can complete the hat-trick.

1st (6) (4/1 -14%) Hurt You Never |
4/1(-14%) | (6) Hurt You Never 4/1, At the top of her game, completing the hat-trick with bit to spare in handicap at Hamilton (6f, firm, 11/4) 13 days ago. 7 lb higher now but another bold bid is on the cards. Bids for a four-timer off 7lb higher in a better race but folly to dismiss in current mood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3.5/1 +13%) Rich Rhythm |
3.5/1(+13%) | (4) Rich Rhythm 3.5/1, Shaped well when fourth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 20 days ago, left poorly placed. Still relatively unexposed and must enter calculations. Has caught the eye with his finishing efforts the last twice; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (5.5/1 +21%) De Bruyne |
5.5/1(+21%) | (5) De Bruyne 5.5/1, Ended 2022 with victory in 6f Newcastle novice in December and far from disgraced in both outings this year, latest when seventh of 11 in handicap at Haydock (6f, good to firm) 31 days ago, worst of draw. Blinkers now tried for first time. Needs to improve on his efforts in turf handicaps since returning last month; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (7.5/1 +6%) Jax Edge |
7.5/1(+6%) | (8) Jax Edge 7.5/1, Resumed progress when winning 5-runner handicap at Chepstow (5.1f, good to firm, 15/8) 17 days ago, staying on to lead final 50 yds. This is more competitive but she warrants plenty of respect. Has won two of last three starts and latest win since boosted; 6lb higher but respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/1 +55%) Sarah's Verse |
9/1(+55%) | (2) Sarah's Verse 9/1, Having dropped below her last winning mark, bounced back to form when recording a fourth course success at Bath (5f) in April, albeit having a perfect trip along the inside rail. Not been in same form since, though. Successful the last time she tackled a 0-70; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (14/1 +30%) Prince Of Bel Lir |
14/1(+30%) | (1) Prince Of Bel Lir 14/1, Three-time scorer last term but yet to fire this season. Now 9 lb below last winning mark but remains hard to recommend. Form has regressed lately; 9lb below last winning mark, but best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (6.5/1 +28%) The Princes Poet |
6.5/1(+28%) | (3) The Princes Poet 6.5/1, Back to winning ways at Brighton (6f) earlier this month and had excuses (missed the break) when below that level at Goodwood since. Not out of things. Won at Brighton last month and blindfold removed late at Goodwood last time; not dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (12/1 +0%) Due Date |
12/1(+0%) | (7) Due Date 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden who wasn't seen to best effect (poorly drawn) when eighth of 11 in handicap at Haydock (6f, good to firm) 31 days ago. Better showing anticipated with cheekpieces now enlisted. Progressive on the AW but well held on turf debut; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) (28/1 -75%) Katar |
28/1(-75%) | (11) Katar 28/1, Returned to form, on debut for new yard, when close second of 9 in handicap at Salisbury (6f, firm) 14 days ago. Entitled to build on that and is just 1 lb higher now. Tongue strap on first time. 0-10 but was only just caught on stable debut at Salisbury a fortnight ago; tongue-tie on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (9/1 -100%) Ignac Lamar |
9/1(-100%) | (9) Ignac Lamar 9/1, Bounced back to form when good third of 7 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good) 21 days ago. Others look better treated, though. Tongue strap back on. May be better on the AW and is quite exposed for a 3yo after 19 starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (22/1 -38%) Papabella |
22/1(-38%) | (10) Papabella 22/1, Thrice-raced maiden. No signs of improvement when seventh of 12 in minor event at Windsor (6f, good to firm) on return earlier this month and something to prove on handicap debut. A small amount of ability in three sprint novices; improvement needed on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Trainer Rod Millman won this last year and Oisin Murphy keeps his partnership with Ignac Lamar intact after their Leicester third, while Hurt You Never has won three on the bounce and warrants plenty of respect, despite an added 7lb and a rise in class. JAX EDGE appeared to have plenty in hand when scoring at Chepstow, though, and a 6lb hike may not stop her from following up.
HURT YOU NEVER is very much a filly in form and is taken to defy a 7 lb rise in the handicap for her latest success. Jax Edge and Rich Rhythm head the list of dangers.
Preference is for RICH RHYTHM especially if the ground remains fast. He has caught the eye with his finishing effort the last twice.
Ths is the racecard key.

It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
