With Harry Cobden booked and the drop in trip a good move, he could be the one to beat. Chemical Warfare could only manage fourth over the smaller obstacles at Southwell last time and he is an interesting contender back in this sphere on only his second start for the David Pipe stable. Gieves completes the shortlist.

BRANDT's exploits over hurdles were mixed but he was shaping encouragingly (looked sure to be placed) when unseating 2 out on chase debut at Uttoxeter 2 weeks ago and he could just be worth chancing to build on that effort given his low-mileage profile in this sphere. Royal Sam remains with unfinished business as a chaser and he's feared, along with chase-debutant Gieves and Chemical Warfare.

He has been absent for 226 days but BENSINI won over hurdles here when fresh last summer and gets the nod.

BALLINOULART returned from a 116-day break to hit the frame over 2m5f at Uttoxeter on his latest outing and he is 1lb lower for that performance. Alastair Ralph's six-year-old holds strong claims to get his head in front for the first time, with his main danger possibly being Top Of The Bay, who finished fourth at Southwell over hurdles last time and it would be no surprise to see him get involved back over fences. Easkey Lad is another to keep an eye on.

KENNACK BAY not for the first time was still in front when unseating 2 out on his belated return to action at Huntingdon 37 days ago and he could just be worth siding with to confirm the promise of that run from his unchanged mark. Ballinoulart has proved consistent in defeat over fences and is feared, with chase-debutants Just In A Bit and Optimistic Joe others to consider. Easkey Lad is another to bear in mind operating from his last winning mark.

Ben Pauling's KENNACK BAY can evidently be very competitive off his current mark and is selected in the hope he can avoid mishap here.

A taking winner on his penultimate start here in April, PORTSMOUTH since ran with plenty of credit when second at Goodwood on his first try this distance, and the form of that race has worked out particularly well in the interim. Andrew Balding's charge gets the vote ahead of unexposed handicap debutant Bubbles Wonky, as well as Blake, who may improve for going up in trip after a determined success over 1m at Sandown. Others to note include Golden West, Persica and Whiskey Pete.

PORTSMOUTH did well to last as long as he did at Goodwood last month, considering the combination of a step up in trip/much more testing ground and a refusal to settle, so he remains of firm interest, especially now back at the scene of his reappearance success. Persica put in a sustained run from a long way back at Newbury on his most recent outing and ought to go well again, with Bubbles Wonky an interesting handicap debutant upped to a trip that promises to suit.

The most solid claims belong to PORTSMOUTH who gets the vote ahead of Persica, Bubbles Wonky and Blake.

An open contest sees a chance taken on GOLDEN RAINBOW, who is a consistent performer and looks the most solid proposition in this field. Rebecca Menzies' charge has been eased 1lb by the handicapper after finishing fourth over 5f at Catterick last month and that can help the five-year-old get back to winning ways. Global Humor could also be on the scene if he's more polished at the start than last time, while Doon The Glen is also worthy of a closer look.

Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and GOLDEN RAINBOW is fancied to capitalise on a handy-looking mark having not enjoyed the rub of the green when fourth at Catterick last time. Tim Easterby's C&D scorer Canaria Prince should strip fitter for her recent reappearance fourth there and is feared most, atlhtough Jack of Clubs is weighted to have a say if on his A-game and needs considering too.

The vote goes to SKI ANGEL who won't mind if the ground stays soft or dries out a bit. She will certainly appreciate the return to 5f.

JACKIE CAN shaped with promise when occupying the runner-up spot at Warwick and she would have learned a great deal from experience. Tom Symonds' five-year-old can find normal improvement to go one better. Wiltshire Wonder, who improved on his first start to finish second at Sedgefield last time, has to be considered, while any market confidence behind Montana Golden would also be interesting.

JACKIE CAN made a pleasing debut at Warwick three weeks ago and that's the standout piece of form of those with experience, so she's worth a chance to go one better for all that both Montana Golden and Shadowfax of Rohan are both appealing newcomers.

Several newcomers appeal on paper but JACKIE CAN shaped nicely on her debut three weeks ago and may go one better.

Stall one could allow SPARKS FLY to dictate this contest from the front, having run respectably over 7f on her return at Haydock. Highly progressive throughout last season, David Loughnane's filly looks capable of striking on the rise in grade, with Running Lion looking best placed to chase her home. Only a head separated Royal Dress (first) and Breege (third) at Goodwood recently and they are likely to be thereabouts once again.

RUNNING LION looked better than ever when runner-up in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket on her comeback last month and she should take plenty of beating back down in class. Sparks Fly had a remarkable 3-y-o campaign and is ready for a shot at this level after a respectable reappearance at Haydock, while there wasn't much between Royal Dress and Breege in a listed event at Goodwood 4 weeks ago.

Several runners are similarly appealing. The percentage call goes to CHIC COLOMBINE, ahead of Sea Of Thieves.

NEW IMAGE was very unlucky to finish a length behind the protagonists when fourth over 7f at Thirsk last time and with more luck, he looks primed to get his head in front. David O'Meara's runner was denied a clear run at a crucial stage on that occasion and he can exploit this unchanged mark. Woodstock (third) finished half a length in front of the selection on that occasion and appears likely to offer another bold bid, while He's A Gentleman would have a solid chance if he reproduces the form of his second over 7f at Chester on his penultimate outing.

David O'Meara has his string in great nick and his upwardly-mobile Frankel gelding NEW IMAGE is fancied to quickly resume winning ways having not enjoyed a clear run when fourth at Thirsk last time out. In-form Woodstock heads the list of dangers, with Rock Melody, He's A Gentleman and On A Session also in the picture.

Woodstock finished ahead of NEW IMAGE (nap) last time, but David O'Meara's gelding met plenty of trouble so can reverse the form.

Highlands Legacy didn't need to come out of first gear when recording a bloodless success at Southwell in April and he merits respect, as does the also penalised Shengai Enki, who landed a handicap at Uttoxeter last month. DOUBLE OBAN is interesting first time out for Olly Murphy, though, and gets the nod with Sean Bowen doing the steering. He won a novice race on the Flat over 1m4f at Leicester and is expected to know his job debuting over hurdles for this yard.

BACKMERSACKME wasn't at his best on his most recent start at Tipperary 17 days ago but he'd previously shaped better than the distance beaten suggests in Grade 1 company at Punchestown and he's well worth another chance to get back on track for his shrewd handler. Highlands Legacy was an easy winner at Southwell when last seen and he's the chief threat. Hurdles-debutant Double Oban and the consistent Shengai Enki are others fancied to be thereabouts.

Southwell winner HIGHLANDS LEGACY looks the best option despite the different ground conditions, while Shengai Enki is next best.

SHECOULDBEANYTHING gets the vote in an event where there are question marks over a number of the runners. The Gordon Elliott-trained mare progressed nicely last year winning Listed races at both Punchestown and Killarney and was also placed in a valuable handicap over C&D. She gave encouragement when third last time at Killarney, with Effernock Fizz back in sixth, and is preferred to Anna Bunina who is well treated by the conditions and steps back considerably in trip. Media Naranja has a bit to find on the book while Karia Des Blaises has been let down by her jumping on occasions.

ANNA BUNINA produced a rare below-par effort at the Punchestown Festival but this looks an excellent opportunity for her to quickly bounce back on these terms. Shecouldbeanything is feared most.

The one to beat is clearly SHECOULDBEANYTHING on the strength of her overall form

This can go the way of the evergreen REGAL REALITY, who hasn't scored since taking this contest last year from the reopposing Highland Avenue (second) but his two efforts so far this year have been encouraging. Ryan Moore getting back on board is a big plus, and it may be the unexposed Embesto that gives him the most think about, having done well as a three-year-old. Epictetus and Royal Scotsman have the form to get involved in proceedings as well.

EMBESTO developed into a smart performer as a 3-y-o, dead-heating for success in a Group 3 at Salisbury, and he can resume his progress after a slow start left him on the back foot at Newmarket on his reappearance. With a hood added, he is taken to get the better of last year's one-two in the race, with Highland Avenue feared most ahead of Regal Reality.

Preference is for SEAN, who ran really well in defeat in Group races at Meydan in February and had an excuse (dirt) when last seen.

UP THE CLARETS made the perfect start to his career when scoring over 5f at Hamilton last month and he can follow up that success. Richard Fahey's charge is likely to improve for that experience and a more polished display can be expected. Invincible Annice struggled to land a blow in Listed company last time but she commands respect back in these calmer waters, while Combat Soldier appears likely to build on his debut effort.

None of these can be ruled out but it's hard to side against Richard Fahey's UP THE CLARETS who overcame greenness to make a winning debut at Hamilton and looks to have more to offer here. Invincilbe Annice is feared most now her sights are lowered considerably, while Ripon runner-up Combat Soldier and Haydock-third Far Above Mary must also enter calculations.

Despite a penalty UP THE CLARETS can maintain his unbeaten record. His winning Hamilton debut may have been even better than it looked.

SPITALFIELD appeared to relish a return to quicker ground when winning at Ffos Las 17 days ago and, with similar conditions forecast once again, he could repeat the dose from a 6lb higher mark. Urban Soldier cruised to victory at Southwell last time out and is a leading candidate despite a subsequent 7lb hike, while others to note include Mr Tambourine Man and I'm A Starman.

A few with chances but THE TURTLE SAID looked like going in at Plumpton last time until running out 2 out and is worth forgiving that aberration off an unchanged mark. In-form Halifax rates the main danger having suffered a slipped saddle when a good recent Hereford third. Southwell-scorer Urban Soldier also needs considering along with I'm A Starman and Art Approval.

Low-mileage 7yo URBAN SOLDIER (nap) kept on strongly to get off the mark at Southwell in April and can overcome a 7lb rise.

SYRACUS DU HOUX has kept some good company over hurdles including when fifth behind Slade Steel in a Naas maiden last November and comes here after beating all bar the odds-on Fenway Park at Punchestown. Sionnach Eile was a smart handicapper on the Flat winning a valuable event at the Galway Festival in 2022 and achieved a career high rating of 104. He was switched to hurdles after a winter break at Killarney but could only manage a distant third behind the impressive Al Gasparo. Pahlavi was reappearing after a ten-month break when second to Le Coq Hardi at Down Royal and is another to consider along with Jet Setting Jim.

SYRACUS DU HOUX took a big step forward when runner-up in a similar event at Punchestown 11 days ago, briefly looking to have the favourite in trouble when clear of the rest, and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to open his account. Pahlavi is selected for the forecast over Jet Setting Jim, who shaped like a stayer on his hurdling bow but is down in trip here.

A wide-open contest and so only a tentative vote can go to MART. Dylan Cunha's representative had been knocking hard on the door prior to last month's Newmarket success, but he followed up at Lingfield just four days ago and might not be done yet, despite a 6lb penalty. Knicks (winner), Vince L'Amour (second), Due For Luck (third) and Blue Storm (fourth) all met at Chester 24 days ago and each are entitled to make their presence felt once again, while Grandlad and Irish-raider Sturlasson are others to consider.

GRANDLAD confirmed himself a useful sprinter in the making when adding to his tally over this trip at Goodwood 7 days ago, asserting close home having pulled clear with the runner-up. A 3 lb rise for that looks fair and he shades the vote to complete the hat-trick. Due For Luck got firmly back on track and was unfortunate not to score on return and he's feared, along with his Chester-conqueror Knicks, equipped with a first-time visor. Sturlasson and Mashadi complete the shortlist.

Northern raiders Due For Luck and BLUE STORM shaped well last time at Chester. The latter is marginally preferred in the rematch.

Slightly unlucky not to score in Pattern company last season, STENTON GLIDER shaped very well on her return to the UK when narrowly denied in the Chartwell at Lingfield, and connections look to have found her an ideal opportunity to score. A respectable third at this level over 6f at Chelmsford, Jabaara is of interest on the step back up in trip, while Sophia's Starlight is another to consider on the back of a strong runner-up effort at Haydock.

Hugo Palmer's STENTON GLIDER was just edged out in Group 3 company at Lingfield last time and can gain compensation here at the chief expense of the improving Sophia's Starlight. Both Pinafore and Soprano have the form to play a part too and need factoring into this competitive listed event along with Roger Varian's low-mileage Jabaara.

This can to STENTON GLIDER who is best-in on these terms and went down by just a neck in a Group 3 at Lingfield three weeks ago.

RIVER GOLD bumped into a progressive rival, who has since confirmed the form by winning twice subsequently, when second over 2m at Ludlow, but this looks a good opportunity to get her head in front. The four-year-old arrives here for the powerful Nicky Henderson yard and this opening handicap mark of 110 doesn't appear out of her reach. Isabella Bee is likely to give the selection most to think about, having been eased in the ratings by the handicapper, while Caughtinaspell could be seen to better effect now handicapping.

The suggestion is CAUGHTINASPELL on her first start for Olly Murphy, with confidence increased should the betting speak in her favour. Isabella Bee shaped okay at Warwick last month and is second choice ahead of Hiconic.

With an encouraging reappearance run behind her, ISABELLA BEE might resume the good progress she made in the autumn.

HOW ABOUT NO won a 1m4f maiden at Dundalk in February and made a pleasing start over hurdles when runner-up to St Faz in a 16-runner Killarney maiden with the pair pulling well clear of the remainder. Napper Tandy, a dual winner on the Flat and rated in the 80s for Andrew Balding, has gone close a couple of times since switched to hurdles by Matt Smith and was only pegged back in the closing stages in a Ballinrobe maiden on his penultimate start. He heads the list of dangers from Heroes Rise.

The vote goes to HEROES RISE, who improved on his hurdling debut form when behind a couple of promising sorts at Kilbeggan last month and promises to do better still. How About No and Kudasheva are feared most in that order.

CLARENDON HOUSE defeated Looking For Lynda (second) at York last time out and though the latter is 5lb better off, it might not be enough to see that form reversed. The son of Mehmas, who produced a career-best performance that day, is now 11lb higher than when a narrow third in this event 12 months ago and looks destined for Pattern races once again. Silky Wilkie finds himself on a competitive mark and could be revitalised by the addition of first-time cheekpieces. A strong pace would bring Alligator Alley into this, and Night On Earth should not be underestimated either.

CLARENDON HOUSE arrives at the top of his game and his strong-travelling style is suited to this speedy track so he is taken to build on last year's third here. The handily-weighted Silky Wilkie was runner-up in this 12 months ago and could emerge as the main danger, although a host of others can also have a say in a typically competitive Dash, notably Looking For Lynda, The Bell Conductor, Dream Composer and Live In The Moment.

Robert Cowell's two runners are feared but Karl Burke also has two striking contenders and SILKY WILKIE can beat Looking For Lynda.

A 7lb rise looks manageable for Hugo Palmer's charge, and he could have too much for the unexposed handicap-debutant Highland Spring, and Whathappensinvegas, who improved from first to second start for this yard when breaking the maiden at Newmarket.

WATCHA MATEY has had the form of his 1m win at the Newmarket Craven meeting boosted several times since and can defy the handicapper. Individualism was a lot better than the result in the London Gold Cup last time and is second choice ahead of William Haggas handicap newcomer Highland Spring.

The choice is MAGICO who looked progressive last autumn and ran better on his Ascot return than his finishing position would suggest.

Having won more cosily than the winning distance might suggest over 2m4f at Fakenham, this appears to be a good opportunity for SOIR DE GALA to follow up that success. Paul Nicholls' runner has been raised 7lb, which may not be enough to halt his progression. Thankyourluckystar chased home a subsequent winner at Bangor and his turn looks near. Denable and Borodale are also worthy of consideration.

SOIR DE GALA can take the next step up the ladder for the Paul Nicholls team. Bangor runner-up Thankyourluckystar and Neil Mulholland's Shuil Ceoil can fight it out for minor honours.

The obvious candidate is SOIR DE GALA, who had more in hand than the winning margin suggested when scoring at Fakenham last month.

JAKE PETER won a maiden hurdle at Thurles way back in 2018 but has been mainly campaigned since on the Flat where he's also gained five wins including at Killarney last summer. The selection has made the frame on both hurdle outings this year including behind the well backed Ballycashin over 2m3f at Clonmel last time with All Walks Of Life staying on about two lengths back in fourth and Our Bobby sixth. Point-to-point winner Sainte Baol looks capable of a handicap win judged on his latest fourth at Ballinrobe, while any market move for Marciano on his handicap debut would be significant. Second reserve Fromheretoeternity would be interesting if getting a run.

SAINTE BAOL showed a bit more than previously when fourth at Ballinrobe last month and, with further improvement anticipated now stepping back up in trip, she's an appealing candidate. Top Line Tommy has good claims back over hurdles on the pick of his form, with 10-y-o Jake Peter another to consider following a good third at Clonmel recently.

Dropping back in trip here won't be an issue for the 9-y-o. Serious Ego regained the winning thread at Perth and he is feared most ahead of Allbetsoff and Captain Zebo.

Stablemate Los Angeles returned to action with a comfortable success in the Derby Trial at Leopardstown and merits the utmost respect as he bids to extend his unbeaten record. Ancient Wisdom appeared to be crying out for a step up in trip when second in the Dante, while Ambiente Friendly, who took the Lingfield Derby Trial in impressive fashion, is also noted. However, there was lots to like about the way in which BELLUM JUSTUM landed the Blue Riband Trial over 1m2f here in April and with prior track experience in his arsenal, the Sea The Stars colt might offer some value.

Aidan O'Brien might hold the key to this race yet again. While LOS ANGELES was no striking winner of the Leopardstown Derby Trial on his fast-ground reappearance he was nicely on top at the line and looks sure to benefit from the step up to 1½m. He won't be inconvenienced should there be any ease in the going having won a Group 1 on soft at 2 and looks a solid alternative to stablemate City of Troy, who looked outstanding at 2 but bombed out in the 2000 Guineas. Macduff is next on the list.

Last year's star 2yo City Of Troy was a flop in the 2,000 Guineas and LOS ANGELES can take another step forward for the new trip.

He looks up to scoring off his current handicap mark on that showing and gets the vote. Moonstone Boy went close at Thirsk earlier in the year and another good effort can be expected from him, while Batal Zabeel returns to action 4lb higher than when successful at Beverley last August.

PILGRIM's latest York third appeals as solid form and he's narrowly preferred to handicap newcomer Circus Lion, who won easily in maiden company here last month. Make It Easy, a place behind the selection at York, and Batal Zabeel are others to consider in an interesting sprint handicap.

The vote goes to the unexposed CIRCUS LION who enters handicaps with the potential for plenty of further improvement.

A five-time winner on the Flat, SEQUOIASPIRIT can register a first success over hurdles. The Ray Hackett-trained seven-year-old has gone close on a couple of occasions over jumps, including when runner-up at Cork last time. The gelding showed that he handled this track when a staying-on fifth in a stronger race at the festival meeting last September. Twice a winner at the start of last season, Ceroc once again showed that this was his time of year when stepping up on his reappearance effort to finish second at Killarney last month. Edward O'Grady's gelding shouldn't be far away. Anyway, who continues to defy the handicapper, could have further races in him this term.

ANYWAY benefited from the step back up to this trip when hitting the target at Cork three weeks ago and he looks capable of defying an 8 lb rise in the weights. All For Rachel did the job well at Punchestown and he is next on the list ahead of Sequoiaspirit.

Anyway has obvious claims along with others but AHEAD OF THE POSSE could be interesting on this return to hurdling.

Ripple Effect and Never Forget You are others capable of taking a step forward from their respective debuts.

The Crisfords won this last year with a big-money breeze-up buy and can do so again with ARABIAN DUSK, who fetched 525,000 guineas at the Craven Breeze-Ups in April. Ripple Effect, Alondra and Never Forget You all shaped well first-time up so they head the dangers.

The form choice is RIPPLE EFFECT, while Arabian Dusk is a particularly interesting newcomer.

Willie Mullins has landed the last four renewals of this race. His IMPLICIT is a forward-going sort and the undulations in Tramore could suit her. She is fairly fresh ahead of her chasing debut having unseated at the first in a Listed mares' novices' hurdle at the Punchestown Festival. Prior to that, she shed her maiden tag in Clonmel and followed up in a novice handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse. Mullins also saddles Iris Emery, a winner over flights in Fairyhouse who has to be respected. Miss Agusta appears to be the pick of Gordon Elliott's pair, while Idol isn't one to rule out of contention.

IMPLICIT has gone the right way over hurdles this year and can make a successful start to her career over the larger obstacles, most likely at the expense of fellow chase newcomer Miss Agusta.

With Paul Townend on IMPLICIT in preference to her stablemate Iris Emery, the first-named has to be the selection.

Ziggy was runner-up behind a subsequent winner over 1m2f here when last seen, and he is respected stepping up in trip, while Kotari is likely to be popular with punters having brought up the hat-trick last month, but a 5lb rise demands more.

ZIGGY made a promising return to action from 15 months off when finding his well-handicapped stablemate too strong here over 1¼m just under 6 weeks ago, and with that outing sure to have blown away any cobwebs, Harry Eustace's 6-y-o is taken to notch career victory number 4 at the expense of Dream Harder, who is threatening to come good again soon judged on his recent Chester fourth. Kotari arrives in search of a 4-timer, and he can fight out minor honours with Asgard's Captain.

Kotari has swept all before him on the Flat this year but slight preference is for ZIGGY, who shaped well here in April.

Winterwatch proved a revelation when opening his hurdling account at the 12th attempt at Newton Abbot recently but he may now prove vulnerable under a penalty, a comment which could also be applied to the four-year-old Wales, who landed a weak maiden event on his first hurdling start over slightly shorter on this track. Preference is for Dan Skelton's JUAN BERMUDEZ, a former winner on the Flat for Andrew Balding who took a clear leap forward when runner-up at Huntingdon last time out.

It took a while for WINTERWATCH to open his hurdle account, but he did so in impressive fashion at Newton Abbot 12 days ago and could be up to defying a penalty on that evidence. Juan Bermudez and Wales are the obvious threats.

Winterwatch and Juan Bermudez are dangers but WALES was useful on the Flat and made a winning jumps debut here.

A frequent visitor to the winner's enclosure at this track over the years, the Limerick man would like nothing better than to return to the number one spot. The gelded son of Leading Light appears to have strong claims of providing that much sought-after success. Sheephaven Flyer proved a costly failure for followers of the Emmet Mullins yard when unseating after being hampered at Downpatrick last month. The Milan gelding had appeared to show improved form when runner-up in a point-to-point on stable debut. Clonmel third Toucan Do is another who should be involved at the business end of the race.

RISING DUST posted his best effort yet when runner-up at Punchestown recently and he is taken to go one better here, perhaps at the chief expense of Sheephaven Flyer, who is 0-9 under Rules but resumes in this sphere on an appealing mark. Morrie In D Quarry and potential improvers Dear Ryta and Safran Et Bleu are also shortlisted.

Sheephaven Flyer is sure to be popular and he might easily win, but WALKONTHEBRITESIDE rates a feasible alternative.

Having pulled up on his last two outings, Motion In Limine clearly comes with risks attached, although a wind procedure could help the nine-year-old get back on track. He is feared most, ahead of Zwicky.

DR SHIROCCO looked a shade unlucky when chasing home Elleon over C&D 11 days ago and he is taken to get the better of that rival this time. It's by no means a two-horse race, though, with Ashington and Zwicky both viable candidates, too.

Des Donovan's gelding was a good second over 1m2f at Chelmsford off this mark on his penultimate outing and he looks primed to go close. Mc'ted was denied a hat-trick last time and is very much of interest back on the all-weather.

It could be worth rolling the dice with GENTLE WHINNY, in the hope that the first-time visor helps to spark a return to form for ths 4-y-o. She has slipped to a very tempting mark, too. Forever Proud hit the target over C&D last month and has to enter calculations, while Louisiana Bay and Kissininthebackrow are others to consider.

This looks tricky but the vote goes to BRASSAVOLA, who is still unexposed and was a close sixth at Chelmsford in her final run in 2023.

A step up to 7f should only improve him and this could be a stepping stone towards going up to the highest level at Royal Ascot, with the son of Kingman boasting an entry in the St James's Palace.

A valuable novice chock-full with potential and it's KING'S GAMBLE who gets the vote to come out on top having produced a couple of highly promising efforts when last seen 9 months ago. Aramram landed a few tidy bets on return at Nottingham 3 weeks ago and he could be the one to give the selection most to do, with Run Away and Socialite both first-time-out winners who are open to improvement, also.

Plenty of nice prospects in this valuable novice but last year's Gimcrack third KING'S GAMBLE still rather stands out.

LISTENHERETOMEJACK followed a creditable third over C&D in April with an even better second at Killarney last month and gets a narrow vote ahead of La Touche Cup runner-up Three By Two. Pana To Milan completes the shortlist.

Last year's winner Badri is just 2lb above that winning mark and he warrants respect sporting cheekpieces for the first time, while last-time-out winner Misty Grey completes the shortlist, for all that a 6lb rise demands more from him.

An ultra-competitive closer to the Derby Festival and although he may be at least a couple years older than any of his rivals, MR WAGYU is selected to enhance his fine record in this race and snap a losing streak going back almost 2 years. Mums Tipple shaped quite well without being seen to best effect at Newmarket 4 weeks ago so he can give the selection most to think about, with Apollo One, Russet Gold and Strike Red a handful of others to consider, too.

Lightly raced 5yo AL BAREZ (nap) looks a sprinter to follow and he is taken to complete a hat-trick. Apollo One is second choice.

Hurdling debutant Woolberry looks the most interesting of the remainder after some fair bumper efforts.

STAY IF U WANT TO opened his hurdling account with something to spare at Hereford last month and is selected to defy a penalty. Value Added and Minella Miracle both seem likely to improve on their opening efforts in this sphere and head the dangers.

Newcomer BECTIVE QUEEN could be good enough to make a winning start to her career. The Gordon Elliott-trained filly is a half-sister to two black-type horses, one of which won his bumper first time out. Owned by Bective Stud, the very fact that this four-year-old has been named after that location suggests that she must be pleasing connections. Time In A Bottle, another filly related to a black-type horse who struck on racecourse debut, also commands maximum respect. Henry De Bromhead does well with the horses he runs in this discipline. La Note Verte was weak in the market before finishing tailed off on her only start to date, but runners from the Willie Mullins yard should never be discounted.

BECTIVE QUEEN represents top connections and is related to the talented Grangeclare West, so there's plenty to like about her chances of making a winning debut. Time In A Bottle is also well bred and represents an excellent stable, so she's the main threat ahead of Alpha Zeta.

The Mullins filly LA NOTE VERTE was well beaten at Fairyhouse but that was a valuable bumper staged on desperate ground.

The remainder have shown little on the Flat, with Nobodys Girl perhaps proving best of them.

KAARESS is the clear pick of these based on Flat exploits and she is taken to see off On The Bubble. The other three all looked very limited on the level, with Nobodys Girl likely to prove the best of them.

In an unappealing race with none of the five having experience over hurdles, KAARESS is the suggestion with Nobodys Girl next best.

Hillbridge (third) and Queens Fort (fourth) both finished in front of the selection on that occasion and they once again rate as the biggest dangers.

There was only a nose separating QUEENS FORT and Hillbridge in a maiden at Ascot but the former shaped better than the bare result so is taken to come out on top. Sea La Venus wasn't seen to best effect on her return at Newmarket and she's another to consider.

Wild Waves seemed to relish the increased stamina test when scoring on his handicap bow at Kempton recently, so he's put forward as the main threat granted an even greater test, with East India Dock taken to edge out Ghostlore for third.

The fact that he returns after almost 10 months off indicates that connections think there are races to be won with him in this discipline. Elusive Prince has a third place in a big field at Fairyhouse in March to his name and should be a factor, while Trade Master can improve upon a couple of sixth places at Naas and Ballinrobe.

NINTH TITAN failed to meet expectations when tenth on his Galway hurdling debut but had some useful winning form to his name in France so is fancied to bounce back in style here. Elusive Prince rates the form pick and can ensure Willie Mullins' 6-y-o doesn't have things all his own way. Walmix and Trade Master appeal as the pick of the remainder for place purposes.

GET A SUPERSTAR and Halpha Soleil are the two that make most appeal. The latter is back down appreciably in grade having run well in a 0-120 over C&D 3 weeks ago, but the former is totally unexposed and is narrowly preferred following a highly encouraging handicap debut effort at Market Rasen. Boyneside should be suited by the step back up in trip and may prove best of the rest.

The vote goes to BOYNESIDE who put up a career best on the last occasion he ran over 2m4f with plenty of give in the ground.

The ultra-consistent ISLE OF SARK rarely runs a bad race and this looks a good opportunity to get his head in front for the first time since 2020. Jamie Osborne's charge was left on the same mark after being beaten just a neck over 1m2f at Chelmsford last time and this extra yardage could be the perfect tonic. Whatawit should also be thereabouts on his handicap bow and this mark of 82 doesn't appear out of his reach, while Fox Flame is capable of having a say with a return to form.

MORACAR could be the answer having shaped well in handicaps on the turf course here and at Windsor since returning from a break last month. He may well have most to fear from Appier, who took a step back in the right direction at Kempton and is on an attractive mark. Robusto is third choice ahead of Isle of Sark.

Most of these come with risks attached but ISLE OF SARK has form figures of 223233 on AW this year and he gets the vote.

Silver Samurai returned from a 117-day break to fill the runner-up spot at Kempton in January and is one to consider off a 1lb higher rating back on turf. However, the vote goes to YORKSHIRE, who forced a dead-heat in this grade at Thirsk a fortnight ago and he is only 2lb higher for that victory. Edward Bethell's yard is in fine form at present and the four-year-old could be the one to beat. Maywake and Kingentleman, who sports a first-time tongue-tie, are just a couple of others to consider.

YORKSHIRE resumed his progress after 7 months off when sharing the spoils at Thirsk a fortnight ago, despite having met trouble in running, and he could still have more to offer this year. He is taken to get the better of Pearle d'Or, who wasn't seen to best effect at Ascot on his latest outing, while Quest For Fun is also one to note.

Judged on his direction of travel for new connections, HECTIC may be the answer. Pearle d'Or is second choice.

It is a long time between drinks for CONTRAPPOSTO, but his sliding mark sees him just get into this basement grade and he can take full advantage. His third place in Tipperary was a better effort and this is lesser company. This sharp track could easily help Tingarran Express double her win total. Since delivering at Clonmel in April, she has finished runner-up three times in a row. Her consistency is a bonus among horses who struggle to put a string of decent results together. Trishknowsbest kept on for third in an opportunity handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe, so has to enter calculations.

TINGARRAN EXPRESS has held her form particularly well following her breakthrough success at Clonmel in April, runner-up at Wexford 3 days ago, and she looks sure to go well again in this groove. Across The Ocean remains open to improvement and can build on his comeback run at Clonmel 16 days ago. Must Be Dreaming and Trishknowsbest are others in the mix. Pinky is another worth keeping an eye on.

ACROSS THE OCEAN could be the answer with improvement to come from his Clonmel return for an in-form yard.

However, Seamus Mullins' charge is effectively 9lb higher in the ratings, which could be enough to thwart his hat-trick bid. SECRET TRIX wasn't beaten far into fourth on soft ground at Perth in April and a return to a sounder surface here could help the seven-year-old back into the winner's enclosure. Porter In The Park is also noted.

Having resumed winning ways at Ludlow on her penultimate start, PORTER IN THE PARK again ran well when second at Market Rasen 3 weeks ago, doing well to finish as close as she did following a late blunder. She earns the vote to prove her mark still workable. Secret Trix and the thriving Tommie Beau head the dangers with Wbee demanding a market check on his belated return to action (former 3-time C&D winner).

The admirable TOMMIE BEAU faces no easy task at these weights but he'll give it his best shot. He can make it three wins within a week.

No Rematch ended last year with a short-head defeat at Exeter and has switched yards subsequently, while Tartan Cookie reappears following a longer absence but is back on a handy mark.

RUMBLE B is in a rich vein of form at present and, having edged out an unexposed one on his most recent outing, he's fancied to go in again. No Rematch can provide the main threat if ready to roll after a break on his first start for a new yard.

A weak contest and given how well he acts here, RUMBLE B is taken to defy a 4lb rise and record a third C&D success.

This looks a golden opportunity for AMESTRIS to get off the mark following a promising debut effort over this trip at Newmarket where she hit the line full of running in second. That race has thrown up a clutch of subsequent winners and she should be adding to that tally. Roselily shaped with mild promise on her debut at Leicester but is bred to appreciate further, while Desdemona appeals most of the newcomers.

AMESTRIS ran to a high level when second at Newmarket on debut just over 6 weeks ago, and will be a tough nut to crack. Roselily has a stone to find with the selection but she showed some promise on her debut 3 weeks ago and is second choice. None of the newcomers jump off the page, but Desdemona might be the pick of them.

This looks a good opportunity for AMESTRIS, who went close at Newmarket in April and sets a useful standard on that form.

However, he could come out second best to SPOOF, who stayed on well to finish fourth at York last Saturday, faring best of those held up, and the handicapper may have been kind to drop him 2lb for that display. Burning Cash and Jer Batt could also get involved.

SPOOF made more impact than previously this season when fourth at York last week and, with a good-value 7-lb claimer now taking over in the saddle, he earns the vote. This is a competitive sprint handicap however, with Muker, Jer Batt and Mountain Warrior just a trio of interesting rivals.

Carlisle runner-up MOUNTAIN WARRIOR is taken to go one better. Burning Cash is second choice.

The Gordon Elliott-trained mare has been running consistently in maidens all year but appears to lack the gears when the race develops in earnest. Faced with an additional two furlongs now, she may just grind it out from the front. Granpa Ger ran better than his final placing suggests when fifth at Punchestown last month. The six-year-old was making ground from the rear when getting the second-last hurdle all wrong. To his credit, the Tony Mullins-trained gelding stayed on well after the last. Mystic Sage looks a mare who could improve further now faced with more of a stamina test.

PALLAS ATHENE has been rather frustrating so far but, if she can find her best form, she should have enough to take advantage of what appears an excellent opportunity to belatedly open her account. Malton Groove is the main danger on form and there might be more to come from Mystic Stage

From a good Bowe-bred family of hurdlers, WOLFHILL took a nice step forward in a better maiden at Punchestown and can get off the mark

Trincomalee is sure to prove popular after his Fakenham victory and Lucy Wadham's charge may serve the most resistance to the selection, although Hidden Heroics is dangerous to discount at this level.

COURT MASTER ran well for a long way after 6 months off when sixth in a better race than this at Cheltenham 6 weeks ago so could be the answer. Fellow veteran Broken Quest is also down in class and is another to consider, while recent Fakenham winner Trincomalee remains unexposed over this sort of trip.

A chance is taken on HIDDEN HEROICS who won off 2lb higher the last time he contested a Class 3 chase just before Christmas.

Emperor Caradoc is feared most after escaping a rise for finishing second over 5f at Ayr last month and this extra yardage should suit, while King Of Tonga heads the remainder.

ALSEEYERTHERE's finishing effort didn't quite match the way she travelled when fifth at Leicester (7f) 3 weeks ago but she's well worth another chance to confirm her mark a workable one returned to sprinting and earns the vote to come out on top. Emperor Caradoc and recent Catterick winner King of Tonga are others fancied to play lead roles.

If the cheekpieces continues to have a positive effect EMPEROR CARADOC might be able to resume winning ways back at 6f.

Having run well in a better race at Killarney last month, MERCURY MISSION can strike here for trainer Michael O'Connor. The five-year-old stayed on well enough when finishing fifth, to suggest that he would be worth trying over this longer trip. Downtherefordancin was unable to build on a promising Naas second when only fourth at Cork. However, that was still a fair run in the circumstances so the Gavin Cromwell-trained gelding has to be given serious consideration. Penny Jar, one place behind Downtherefordancin in Cork, should again be competitive. The eight-year-old ran really well on the Flat on his only previous visit to this track.

Course-winner EARLY ARRIVAL signalled he's ready to go in again when runner-up in a big-field Clonmel handicap last time so looks the way to go. Gavin Cromwell's top-weight Downtherefordancin heads the list of dangers on the back of his good Cork fourth with in-form duo Penny Jar and Mercury Mission also firmly in the picture.

The five-year-old enters this sphere off what looks a fair opening mark, especially when considering her bumper ability, and she edges the vote. Cellar Club and Queen Of Steel also warrant a second look in what appears an open contest.

MY VIRTUE showed much improved form and marked herself down as one to keep onside when opening her account at Southwell 25 days ago and she makes plenty of appeal in her follow-up bid from 6 lb higher. Hot Fizzy Lizzy has all the hallmarks of an improver now handicapping and she's well worth a second a look also. Cellar Club and Mrs Kinsella are a couple of others fancied to be thereabouts.

The suggestion is SISTER JULIENNE, who has shown some aptitude for this discipline and may be well treated on her handicap debut.

Believe You Me is another to consider after his runner-up effort at Chepstow over a mile.

MUSICAL MYSTERY upped his game to score at Brighton last time and, in a thin race, he's capable of defying a penalty if he can take another step forward. Yantarni is a danger and another solid showing is expected from Snuggle.

Preference is for MUSICAL MYSTERY (nap) who dominated at Brighton on Tuesday and may well be able to follow up under a penalty.

A half-sister to a smart bumper mare who Sweeney also trained, the five-year-old should be monitored closely in the market. Gordon Elliott's Ocean Brew probably ran into a decent prospect when runner-up on her racecourse debut at Cork recently. A winning point-to-pointer, the daughter of Westerner is likely to be ridden quite positively in order to make this a stamina test. Twice-placed Shannon Bank has plenty of experience at this stage so should be involved for trainer Seamus Fahey.

OCEAN BREW made a positive start at Cork a couple of months ago and there's scope for improvement, so she's an obvious one to side with. Shannon Bank is the danger on form and Reel Orange might step up on her debut.

Langton Wold is a fascinating contender on his first start over fences and having shown useful form over hurdles, he is entitled to the utmost respect. Nevendon completes the shortlist running off the same mark as when runner-up over timber at Fakenham recently.

FORGET THE WAY made a positive start for this yard when third back over hurdles at Huntingdon on return and can build on his promising chase bow at the second attempt. He's preferred to Isholo du Vivien, who showed an aptitude for chasing when fourth at Warwick last month. Jeudidee makes most appeal of the chase debutants.

This could go to FORGET THE WAY, who was a good third over hurdles on his stable debut and showed promise over fences last November.

Considering the manner of his victory that day, he could be up to the task. The main danger might be El Hibri, who was victorious at Chelmsford recently and is capable of being in the mix, while Nogo's Dream is another to note in first-time cheekpieces.

TREMBLANT wasn't seen to best effect when seventh at Newmarket last time and, down in grade with blinkers on for the first time, he's worth a chance to defy a falling mark at the possible expense of Beau Jardine, who scored readily at Salisbury recently. El Hibri is also going the right way.

El Hibri should be in the thick of it but returning to 6f looks sure to suit NOGO'S DREAM and he can gain his first handicap win.

Lost In The Mist finished a creditable third on his handicap bow over an extended 2m2f at Newton Abbot and, stepping up in trip now eased 1lb, a bold bid to go two places better is expected. A return to form for Hollow Ron shouldn't be discounted now making his first start since wind surgery.

SUPREME YEATS is chucked in on his best form and is worth a chance to make a successful start for a top yard after a break. Recent C&D winner No More No is a definite player if the visor has a positive effect again, while Lost In The Mist can't be ruled out on the back of a solid showing at Newton Abbot.

A few are open to a return to form but EXPRESS SURPRISE (nap) looks very interesting now raised in trip for just his second handicap.
