For all that, better value may lie with STARLUST, who caught the eye in a hot race at Lingfield on his debut when forced to race wider than ideal. That experience won't be lost on the Zoustar colt and he can continue the yard's productive streak, with Mbappe another worthy of respect.

LIGHTNING POINT showed promise when third at Doncaster on his debut last month, a race won by Karl Burke's smart prospect Elite Status, so he can build on that to open his account. Melisende has made the frame on all 3 of her starts so far and could be the main danger in first-time cheekpieces, with Starlust completing the shortlist.

Preference is for LIGHTNING POINT who finished a promising third behind the exciiting Elite Status on his Doncaster debut.

Valley Of Flowers was an encouraging runner-up at Beverley on her reappearance and is likely to prove popular here along with The Resdev Way, who only found one too good at Wetherby last time. The booking of Serena Brotherton catches the eye on Jamih, who is better than he showed at Thirsk last time in a race which signalled a return to form of HER WAY. The latter finished an encouraging fourth that day and could take some pegging back if adopting the same forcing tactics.

SAMEEM's losing run tempers enthusiasm but he's tumbled in the weights and, having shaped as if he'd come on a good deal for his comeback over shorter here 32 days ago, he could just be worth chancing with the cheekpieces refitted. Her Way hinted at a revival at Thirsk recently and along with Valley of Flowers, heads up the dangers.

Top of the list is VALLEY OF FLOWERS, who is on her winning mark and didn't get much luck when runner-up at Beverley last month.

Tomshalfbrother and Munificent both bring Yarmouth-winning form into this race but preference is for LEVEL UP, who advertised his present well-being by only narrowly failing to get up at Windsor last time out. David Evans' gelding is only 1lb higher than when scoring at Wolverhampton in April and this return to an artificial surface is likely to be appreciated. Libertus also went close at Lingfield last time and should again make his present felt.

LEVEL UP can race off the same mark as when a good Windsor second last week so is taken to emerge on top at the chief expense of Sir Rodneyredblood, who didn't enjoy the rub of the green over C&D last time and is weighted to have a say. Libertus must also enter calculations in a competitive sprint.

Preference is for THE DEFIANT (nap) who ran really well from a long way out of the weights in warm handicaps on turf the last twice.

All three previous winners, East Bank, Professor Tickle and Catton Lady have plenty to recommend them, but the unpenalised BARG may prove too good on this occasion in receipt of weight. Karl Burke's colt, whose price more than doubled from foal to yearling, shaped like a sure-fire future winner when a keeping on third of 14 on his recent debut over this trip at Thirsk and he can put that experience to good use.

BARG showed definite signs of promise when keeping on for third on debut in a Thirsk maiden (6f) 17 days ago and with progress anticipated, he could be worth chancing to come out on top. Professor Tickle and East Bank are others to consider, with Swiftly a newcomer to note.

The Karl Burke-trained colt BARG made a promising start at Thirsk and is taken to build on that and score.

Richard Fahey has won the last two renewals of this contest, so his sole contender Malc surely warrants a market check. His price increased from 34,000 guineas as a yearling to 140,000 guineas as a two-year-old, but DEVIOUS can get the better of him here. He kept on well to score on his racecourse debut at Naas last month and left a strong impression that he has a good deal more to give. His dam is a half-sister to the exceptional 1000 Guineas winner Attraction, and the fact he holds an entry for the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh in August must suggest he is showing plenty of encouragement at home. American Rascal adds strong international flavour to an engrossing line-up, while the unbeaten Elite Status is another to consider.

ELITE STATUS looked potentially out of the top drawer when bolting up in the National Stakes at Sandown and, with further progress surely in the pipeline, Karl Burke's colt is fancied to remain unbeaten. Wesley Ward has won this race twice in the last decade and his American Rascal looks an obvious danger having scored by double-digits at Keeneland on debut. Noche Magica and His Majesty met last month and are another couple to look out for.

Easy National Stakes winner ELITE STATUS has already achieved an RPR which would have been good enough in eight of the last ten years.

Pourquoi is likely to prove popular after going close over this trip at Windsor first time out. Similar comments apply to Huda Star, who shaped encouragingly when finishing fourth behind at couple of subsequent winners at Lingfield on her debut in April. For all that, preference is for PARADISE ROW, who has been crying out for this sort of trip on the evidence of two runs at Wolverhampton and Redcar.

Preference is for HUDA STAR, who shaped well on debut at Lingfield, despite looking green, and she will be more street-wise this time. Pourquoi also made a positive start to her career in a Windsor novice and is next on the list ahead of Paradise Row. Hill Filly and Style of Life should both do better in time and newcomer Oh So Grand needs a close look in the betting.

Huda Star and POURQUOI made their respective debuts in races won by the same horse. The latter finished the closer of the pair.

Hurstwood probably ran better than ever when notching a third C&D success last time out but a 7lb rise might just prove too much to overcome, given that Indian Sounds goes unpenalised for a decisive success in an apprentices' event at Pontefract last week, albeit over 5f. Claim The Stars also brings winning form to the table but any value may lie with the well-handicapped C&D winner WOODLANDS CHARM, who bounced back to form when a runner-up at Catterick recently.

A number of these arrive in good form but INDIAN SOUNDS is able to race off a 1 lb lower mark than for his emphatic Pontefract success so gets the nod. Hurstwood is a former winner of this race and is feared most, with Woodlands Charm another C&D scorer who can have a say.

A competitive race in which the vote goes to INDIAN SOUNDS, who won going away at Pontefract last time and escapes a penalty.

Bertinelli needed every yard of the mile and a quarter to lift the London Gold Cup so should be even better at this distance, although he does have to concede weight to some unexposed sorts. One who fits that bill is TAGABAWA, who saw off a couple of subsequent winners with ease at Kempton. The form of Wonder Legend's Doncaster triumph has also worked out, while an initial mark of 94 isn't exactly lenient for Perfuse but he looked smart when accounting for Inquiring Minds on Town Moor. Burglar put a costly Kempton defeat behind him at Redcar and is just one more to enter the equation.

Stacks of potential improvers in what is invariably one of the hottest handicaps of the season. WONDER LEGEND gets the nod to gain some compensation for the narrow defeat of the same connections' Deauville Legend in this race last year but there are any number of possible dangers, headed by London Gold Cup winner Bertinelli, who promises to relish the step up to 1½m. Perfuse, Burglar and Davideo also make the shortlist.

The pick may well be VALIANT KING, who looks open to big improvement over the new trip given the way he's been finishing his 1m2f races.

MADAME FENELLA improved for the return to the all-weather when beaten a length into second at Kempton last week and, off the same mark here, she can go one better. Delagate The Lady has been poor since winning at Yarmouth in April, but she goes well at this venue and could easily bounce back. Kodias Sangarius has dropped to a handy figure, while Profit Given is surely better than she showed on her handicap debut at Kempton.

Only four runners and MADAME FENELLA looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways on the back of her good Kempton second. Profit Given might be the danger.

Derek Shaw's MADAME FENELLA chased home a rival who made all at Kempton last week and has strong claims if she can repeat that form.

However, he could play second fiddle to IT JUST TAKES TIME, who had Twelfth Knight (second) behind last time over C&D in a class 3 event. The five-year-old is fancied to make it three out of his last four for the Mark Walford yard. Significantly is of interest wearing first-time cheekpieces.

TWELFTH KNIGHT and It Just Takes Time are closely matched on recent C&D form, with the former taken to get the better of the argument this time from his handy rail draw. This looks slightly easier than the races Strike Red has contested so far this season and he should also be in the mix.

Pipped at the post 15 days ago, TWELFTH KNIGHT can gain his revenge on It Just Takes Time.

Al Asifah is likely to be a red-hot favourite for this prestigious contest, as she was only supplemented for the race last week on the back of her facile victory at Goodwood over 1m2f earlier this month. The daughter of Frankel romped home by six lengths in the Listed Agnes Keyser to maintain her unbeaten record and she is likely to have a big shout. However, a chance can be taken on INFINITE COSMOS, after she was beaten four and a half lengths into third by subsequent Oaks victor Soul Sister in the Musidora at York last time. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly kept on well and shaped as if the step up to this distance could unlock any amount of improvement. Warm Heart beat Bluestocking (second) by a head last time in the Haras De Bouquetot at Newbury and she would be foolish to dismiss for her powerful connections.

An impressive winner on debut at Haydock, AL ASIFAH looked special when producing a commanding display to follow up in listed company at Goodwood 11 days ago. A most exciting prospect, she's fancied to maintain her 100% record. Bluestocking and Warm Heart are closely matched on their Newbury form and head the dangers, along with Infinite Cosmos and Village Voice.

The Gosden-trained AL ASIFAH has superstar potential in view of her commanding Listed win at Goodwood 11 days ago and can make it 3-3.

He made all over this trip at Lingfield prior to that but could face competition for the lead from War In Heaven, which may set things up for RED MIRAGE. John Quinn's five-year-old didn't fire at Chester, but he ran well at the May meeting there before it and has a good all-weather record.

ARTHUR'S REALM hinted at a revival when fourth here last time and can bag a second C&D success off a 2 lb lower mark. Court of Session and War In Heaven appeal as the pick of the rest and can chase home Ed Dunlop's 5-y-o in that order.

The vote goes to COURT OF SESSION who is 2-2 over C&D. A couple of efforts since his latest win suggest he is still feasibly treated.

The main danger might be Lough Leane, who was beaten under a length in this grade at Yarmouth on his latest outing and he could have a say off 1lb higher. Edwina Sheeran could get involved if she produces the form of her penultimate run.

GREEK GIANT is 6 lb well-in compared to his future mark under his penalty and can complete a quick hat-trick, most likely at the expense of Lough Leane, who shaped well when third on his Yarmouth handicap debut.

Hat-trick-seeking GREEK GIANT is hard to side against under a 6lb penalty for his wide-margin Brighton success and can win again.

Coltrane threw his hat into the staying division ring when defeating Trueshan in the Doncaster Cup last September, before going down by a head to that same rival in the Long Distance Cup here the following month. The talented son of Mastercraftsman, who reappeared with a bloodless success in the Sagaro last month, should be thereabouts, though a chance is taken on SUBJECTIVIST. Having bolted up in this contest two years ago, Charlie Johnston's entire picked up an injury that ruled him out for all of last season. Drawn wide when finishing third in the Dubai Gold Cup 89 days ago, he looked to retain plenty of ability and is likely to have been trained with this contest in mind. St Leger hero Eldar Eldarov merits respect having finished a good second in the Yorkshire Cup last month, while Courage Mon Ami, who seeks to extend his unbeaten record, could find further improvement for a yard that landed this three years on the trot with staying great Stradivarius. Others to note include Broome and Echoes In Rain.

ELDAR ELDAROV relished the emphasis on stamina when winning the St Leger last season and again did his best work at the finish when a close second in the Yorkshire Cup last time. Still with fewer miles on the clock than most in this field, he's taken to gain a second Royal Ascot success at the chief expense of the much-improved Coltrane, who has to be viewed positively after a tidy success in the Sagaro. 2021 winner Subjectivist and relatively unexposed Emily Dickinson complete the shortlist.

Coltrane and ELDAR ELDAROV (nap) are worth their places at the head of the betting and preference is for the 2022 St Leger hero.

The five-year-old attempts this distance for the first time, which could eke out the improvement needed to strike. The main threat is Home And Dry, who defied his huge odds last time at Kempton when running with great credit for fourth. Mukha Magic is another to note.

THEFASTNTHECURIOUS came in a good third here last time despite not having the race run to suit so is fancied to resume winning ways off the same mark. Last year's victor Mukha Magic could emerge as the main threat ahead of Deborah Faulkner's new recruit Home And Dry.

This can go to MUKHA MAGIC who may be able to boss this from the front as was the case when he won this race last year.

AIRD ran well on debut and should improve from her recent reappearance, when performing well. From a smart Shadwell family, she was beaten a length and three-quarters by Scarlett O'Hara at the Curragh but stayed well and progression is very likely. Sugaree was similarly beaten a length and three-quarters by Scarlett O'Hara here in May and while she, too, is well-related, is open to less progression than the selection, having had a run the previous month. Astar has been frustrating and while vulnerable to progressive types, is by Sea The Stars so stepping up to this distance is likely to bring about some improvement. World Peace showed little on debut but is by Frankel and hails from a top-class female line. Regally bred Deadly Nightshade is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Above The Curve and is out of a half-sister to Giant's Causeway but makes a somewhat belated debut and has no big race entries. Alalcance is a half-sister to two winners but also debuts.

Preference is for AIRD, who was returning from 8 months off when an encouraging third at the Curragh recently and remains open to improvement. Astar and Sugaree rate the principal dangers.

Sir Jock Bennett and Rievaulx Raver both arrive in winning form, although the former only had three rivals to beat at Haydock and the latter had to share the spoils here. Sir Michael Stoute doesn't have too many runners at Ripon so it is perhaps significant that he sends FALCON NINE north, and the well-related son of Ulysses has been freshened up since his handicap debut fourth at Newcastle. Blueflagflyinghigh might be able to play a part too.

Another chance is given to FALCON NINE as he continues to look well treated on the form he showed in an AW maiden last November and the step up to 1¼m should suit on pedigree. Nakano didn't enjoy the rub of the green on her Redcar handicap debut last month and is second choice ahead of Haydock scorer Sir Jock Bennett.

Preference is for Hugo Palmer's NAKANO who wasn't seen to best effect when sixth on her h'cap debut at Redcar and can open her account.

Docklands is improving at a rate of knots and made a sparkling handicap debut over C&D. Racingbreaks Ryder is also on a steep upward curve, while Starnberg has bounced off quick ground to score as he liked at York and Nottingham. Expensive purchase Just An Hour beat a subsequent winner at Killarney but perhaps a chance is worth taking on fellow Irish raider PANIC ALARM, who made the frame in the Madrid Handicap won by Paddington, since when he has held his own in good company. His compatriot Fort Vega showed excellent resolution to hang on at Naas, with Betterdaysrcoming back in third. The latter franked the form with a Curragh victory, in a race in which Carracci didn't get the smoothest of passages.

DOCKLANDS boasts a likeable profile and made a taking impression when successful over C&D last time, so he gets the vote in a typically open renewal. The progressive Fort Vega is another one to consider and Quantum Impact seems likely to go well also if low draws are seen to good effect.

A typically open Britannia. French raider BLESS is interestingly handicapped on some of his French form. Royal Cape is next best.

One Step Beyond made his first start for his new yard a winning one when scoring by three lengths at Kempton over a mile, and he looks to have leading claims once more as he steps back up in distance. However, SONNERIE POWER gets the vote. The son of Almanzor was denied by just over two lengths when fourth last time at Newmarket behind two subsequent winners. Long Tradition also makes some appeal.

ONE STEP BEYOND is thriving at present and could well have even more to offer for his new yard, so makes plenty of appeal bidding for the hat-trick. Idee Fixee is a consistent sort and can make the placings once again, whilst Long Tradition merits a market check after a lengthy absence.

The vote goes to STORM CATCHER who showed his liking for these conditions when rattling off a hat-trick over C&D during the winter.

AKKADIAN EMPEROR concedes plenty weight but met interference here on debut and could be capable. Out of an unraced half-sister to three stakes performers, he was only 4/1 on debut and was staying on from off the pace until hampered in the final furlong. The fourth-placed horse won well subsequently and the selection should improve. Mary The Priest beat Port Louis by a half-length at the Curragh on May 1 and both have won subsequently, are dependable and ground-versatile - although Port Louis is now 4lb better off. Sea Singer finished nicely on debut and can progress, while Hispanolita was green on debut and is also open to progression under a light weight. Lightly weighted Sli Na Ghealai's unraced dam is a sister to Irish Derby winner Soldier Of Fortune. Declan McDonogh does a light weight on Basilah Bear, a half-sister to two Italian winners, while better-bred stablemate Alpha Cephei is a half-brother to Group 3 and Listed winners but is the apparent second string. Dramatic Entrance's dam is a half-sister to the dam of 2,000 Guineas winner Night Of Thunder but failed to sell at 45,000gns at an April breeze-up sale. Cloud Seeker's half-brother was a juvenile winner.

AKKADIAN EMPEROR was a pretty big eye-catcher at this venue last month, finishing with running left, and it would come as no surprise were he to take a leap forward. Mary The Priest and Sea Singer set the solid standard.

A chance is taken on HISPANOLITA, who is getting plenty of weight and should be sharper on this second start.

Bernie The Bear has occupied the runner-up berth on each of his last two outings and he can fight it out with Beverley runner-up Girl From Italy for that position here.

BARROLO had a bit to spare over C&D last time and can make light of a 3 lb rise. Girl From Italy took a step forward when runner-up at Beverley and give Grant Tuer's gelding most to think about ahead of Sunday's Doncaster second Bernie The Bear.

Grant Tuer's BARROLO (nap) looked to have plenty in reserve when scoring over C&D and looks weighted to go in again despite a 3lb rise.

Drumroll makes a lot of appeal based on the pick of his form and Aidan O'Brien's inmate was promoted to first having initially been beaten a short head in a Group 3 at the Curragh last month. However, preference lies with EPICTETUS, who struggled in deeper waters in the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly last time out and the son of Kingman can take advantage of a drop in grade here. He ended last season losing little in defeat behind subsequent Derby hero Auguste Rodin in the Vertem Futurity Trophy and he remains open to further improvement. Bold Act rates a big player having only been narrowly denied at Newbury most recently, while 1000 Guineas fourth and Oaks third Caernarfon also warrants respect.

EXOPLANET improved again when third in the competitive London Gold Cup at Newbury last month, shaping well having had the worst of the draw, so he can continue his progress to take the step up in grade in his stride and resume winning ways. Heading the list of dangers is Torito, who impressed when scoring at Epsom on his latest outing, while Caernarfon and Bold Act also merit consideration.

The well-bred TORITO took a big step forward when a smooth winner of a handicap at Epsom on Derby day and is taken to follow up.

Both AMANIRENAS's wins have been over this course and distance, on good ground. A winner when rated 67 last July, she lost form subsequently but was a comfortable winner here last week and while she carries a fixed 7lb penalty (and runs from her correct rating), her same rider claims an extra 3lb today. Fastman has run well twice here recently and has obvious claims, although dropping a furlong isn't ideal. Storm Eric is an all-weather winner who might not have been suited by soft ground at Cork. He should be better suited by both this surface and today's extra furlong, and competes from just 1lb higher than his winning Dundalk rating.

A chance is taken on April's course second MAGGIE AND ME who had an excuse last time and could be dangerous if getting away on the front end. Amanirenas won readily here last week and should go well under the penalty. John McConnell's Fastman, another with recent course form, completes the shortlist.

Preference is for top-weight FASTMAN who has suffered two narrow defeats in better handicaps over 1m here and deserves a change of luck

She drops in trip following a disappointing run over 7f at Wolverhampton earlier this month and is taken to improve, while recent turf winner Alfred Cove is another to consider off 3lb higher.

BIG BARD finds himself 3 lb lower than when scoring at Brighton last month and gets the nod in a tricky-looking opener. Red Alert and Alfred Cove head the list of dangers.

Several in-form sprinters on show but her debut effort suggests HOWYOULIKEMENOW could have been let into handicaps lightly.

With cheekpieces applied for the first time, the Sheila Lewis-trained FABREZE could be the one. A point winner at Tralee in April, that experience ought to stand her in good stead, while a recent spin at Worcester should have blown away the cobwebs. Ma Belle Noire and Chancer Dancer look set to play a part in proceedings, while Indelible Spin can't be ruled out from the foot of the handicap.

A chance is taken on TANGO ARUMBA, who was bang there before giving way between the final two flights upped to 23.3f here last time. Eased 3 lb since and with both this drop back in trip and the addition of cheekpieces potentially positive factors, she could be about to take a step forward. Chancer Dancer will be a big threat if backing up her latest effort and, for all that she doesn't appear entirely straightforward, Ma Belle Noire is also shortlisted.

Placed in two big-field handicaps this spring, Irish-raider CHANCER DANCER is taken to open her hurdling account at the eighth attempt.

Many will fancy their chances in what looks a typically wide-open renewal, so only a tentative vote can go to BARADAR. George Boughey's gelding was arguably an unfortunate third in the Lincoln having been positioned on the wrong side of the track, and was luckless once again over this C&D in the Victoria Cup last month after being slowly away and short of room at a crucial stage. Biggles, who finished in front of the selection in second that day, has to be considered from an unchanged mark, along with the progressive Croupier. Second in this off 3lb lower last year, the loveable Ropey Guest could outrun his lengthy odds and makes each-way appeal. Montassib and Vafortino must also enter the reckoning, while Rhoscolyn finds himself on a workable mark judged on last season's exploits and should not be underestimated either.

Any number to consider, with BARADAR topping the shortlist having shaped with a lot of promise in a brace of good-quality handicaps this term, latterly in the Victoria Cup when forced to switch. Biggles was an excellent second in that aforementioned race over C&D and he seems sure to give it a good go, with low-mileage 4-y-o Kingdom Come capable of a bigger performance and highly respected also.

This can go to MONTASSIB who didn't have this race go his way last June but can now add to his recent Newmarket win.

BENAVENTE ran very well in a more competitive handicap over course and distance recently. An eye-catcher on career debut in a hot 2020 maiden, he has yet to place in six turf runs but is well suited to a mile and stayed on well late on here recently, having raced keenly. He has dropped 2lb and this looks winnable. Cnodian got the rub of the green when rain arrived and the stalls were taken away at Limerick recently and while just 5lb higher, would prefer easy ground and has a largely exposed profile. Zero Fighter is an unexposed three-year-old but steps in in grade having won an ordinary Roscommon claimer last month. Fellow three-year-old Jim's Cracker stayed a mile as a juvenile and is probably best watched on reappearance at this same distance.

CNODIAN impressed with the way she travelled when scoring at Limerick 8 days ago and she's still well handicapped on past efforts, so she gets the nod ahead of Zero Fighter, another last-time-out winner. Benavente is another one to consider.

Though it was only a claimer that he won last time, ZERO FIGHTER looks an improving 3yo and can follow up with Colin Keane aboard.

EL BODON made a pleasing start to his racing career when filling the runner-up spot at Yarmouth last month. A half-brother to Listed winner Pillow Talk, Jane Chapple-Hyam's 150,000gns purchase likely has more to offer and he rates the one to beat with that experience under his belt. The unraced Jakima is fairly well-related and can give the selection plenty to think about, while fellow debutant Quantum Force completes the shortlist.

Several of the newcomers are appealing on paper but EL BODON was a promising second on debut at Yarmouth and can put that experience to good use here. The winner of that race wasn't beaten far in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday, which augurs well. Of the newcomers, Quantum Force could be the pick, though Tactical Control, Jakima and Miggy Magic (in that order of preference) are other likely-looking types.

Some interesting newcomers on show but EL BODON looked promising at Yarmouth and he can put that experience to good use.

Stablemate Gold In Doha has further scope to progress and is the main danger, with Supposedtobe fancied to chase the pair home. What Will Be and Numero Uno will need more if they're to figure.

Most of these arrive with question marks against them so Irish raider SUPPOSEDTOBE looks the way to go on the back of his good Down Royal sixth. What Will Be rates the chief threat reverted to this sphere.

The one with least to prove is SUPPOSEDTOBE, who ran quite well in a Down Royal maiden three weeks ago.

This is a minefield for punters. Andy Oliver's SEMBLANCE OF ORDER is a gritty competitor who keeps running his race and he is just 1lb higher after getting to within a head of his stablemate in a good handicap at the Curragh last month. He gets first-time blinkers, while National Emblem's maiden success at Gowran Park last summer has been well franked. He made his seasonal reappearance, and handicap debut, in a slightly higher grade at Naas last month and is entitled to come on from that sixth-placed finish. He has been dropped 2lb by the handicapper and Scott McCullagh claims 3lb. Hero Blues has to enter the equation after running on well to land a Fairyhouse maiden just under a fortnight ago. Slieve Binnian is markedly up in class, but was impressive in winning by a wide margin at Dundalk in November. Dawn Session won his maiden over further at Gowran Park which will help his cause if this turns into a battle.

SEMBLANCE OF ORDER is more exposed than some of these but last month's runner-up effort at the Curragh was a career-best effort and a 1 lb higher mark could turn out to be lenient. National Emblem has a bigger performance in him and he's a threat, along with Mere Accountant.

Therehegoes is another to bear in mind following a decent third at Wolverhampton on Monday.

BIG TIME MAYBE has been in terrific form lately and his latest second at Brighton has been boosted by the winner since, so he's a confident choice to make all at the possible expense of Perfect Symphony, who he beat over C&D in May. Therehegoes can also get involved if he's not caught wide from stall 7.

Big Time Maybe can go well but this looks to present the veteran STORM MELODY with a suitable opportunity.

POTTLERATH has justified favouritism at Worcester, Warwick and Bangor, and he is sure to have his supporters again. Matt Sheppard's representative can continue on his merry way, even though he is 17lb higher than when his winning spree began and he faces some in-form opponents, not least Warwick scorer Biowavego, who now embarks on a chasing career. No No Maestro and Gats And Co both found only one too strong on their latest outings and have place claims again.

Testing conditions would be a worry for NO NO MAESTRO but, in the hope that the ground isn't too slow, he could be the answer on the back of an encouraging reappearance spin at Worcester last month. Pottlerath needs a personal-best in order to complete the four-timer but he's seriously considered all the same, while Biowavego will be a threat if taking to fences at the first attempt and Gats And Co is dangerous to discount.

Thriving 8yo POTTLERATH, who has taken his form to a whole new level in recent weeks and is now bidding for his fourth win in a row.

Tom McCourt's SHINING AITCH was only collared in the final strides of a 1m2f handicap at Navan and is clearly on a competitive mark. His last victory in Wolverhampton in October 2021 came off 12lb higher. McCourt's Rampage lost out by a head and a nose in a thrilling finish to a C&D handicap last week and the same pilot, James Ryan, is on board again. Reverberation is threatening another victory. Skontonovski stayed on for third over C&D. He is likely to be coming home stronger than most. Atbay could enjoy this extra distance after running on for fourth over 1m at Listowel, while Colin Keane is an eye-catching booking for Everylittlestep.

RAMPAGE has been given a chance by the assessor and ran his best race for present connections when edged out late on in a C&D handicap 7 days ago. Operating from the same mark, he gets the vote to shed the maiden tag. Last year's winner Smaoineamh Sile has fallen to a handy mark and is feared with a reappearance run under her belt. Atbay and Everylittlestep are a couple of others fancied to feature.

The one to beat though could be ATBAY(nap) after being dropped a couple for good runs at Roscommon and Listowel and with a good draw

No News has been much improved since a gelding operation and after a Yarmouth third, he went one better at Kempton. He has been raised 3lb and the winner has done little for the form since, so he is passed over in favour of DOUBLE DOWN, who got going too late but still managed to finish third over C&D earlier this month. Able to compete off the same rating now, he can break through. Kimnkate took a step in the right direction at Chelmsford, while Chalk Mountain tries a mile for the first time and can be keen.

NO NEWS bumped into a progressive rival at Kempton last time and this race doesn't look as strong, so he gets the nod ahead of Double Down, who ran with credit over C&D 12 days ago. Kimnkate is another one to consider.

Preference is for DOUBLE DOWN, who went close from a wide draw over C&D 12 days ago and is a key player off an unchanged mark.

Stepping up from 2m has been the making of BLUE SHARK and he registered his sixth success from his last seven starts when digging deep at Southwell. Jonjo O'Neill's charge tends not to win by far so the handicapper may not have caught up with him just yet. Mothill went close at Fontwell, while Shallow River's narrow Market Rasen defeat signalled a welcome return to form. Captain Tom Cat is well treated in this sphere compared to his chase rating and is also noted.

A few with chances but BLUE SHARK made it six victories from his last seven outings at Southwell last month and is hard to side against. Handicap debutant Montgomery and the in-form Mothill rate the chief threats and can chase home Jonjo O'Neill's prolific winner in that order.

The pick is MOTHILL (nap), who was close second to a dual subsequent winner last month and may still have untapped potential over 2m4f.

KING LEODEGRANCE experienced a similar trip when second in Tipperary and the winner followed up in Naas to strengthen the form. There should be plenty more to come from Aidan O'Brien's colt. Dubawi Delight is regally bred being by Dubawi out of a multiple Group 1-winning mare and he showed marked improvement on his second start (and first time on better ground) when chasing home the winner at the Curragh. The horses that sandwiched him in first and third both won on their next starts. Teorie put in good late work for second over a slightly shorter trip in Tipperary, while Balnarring Beach and Waltham are newcomers to check in the betting.

OPEN TO QUESTION is one of four of these who contested the maiden at the Curragh won by Trustyourinstinct (winner again since) last month, and it was an eye-catching effort given that he came from further back than the three (including the runner-up Dubawi Delight) that finished in front of him. He gets the nod with improvement on the cards now upped in trip. King Leodegran is second choice ahead of Teorie and the filly Eziva, while Balnarring Beach and Waltham are likely-looking newcomers.

OPEN TO QUESTION was only 1l behind Dubawi Delight on his debut at the Curragh and is open to further improvement.

SHARP POWER seems quite nicely treated on what he showed in maiden/novice company as a juvenile, and there was encouragement to take from his comeback fifth on his handicap debut at Goodwood. It may be that he is happiest on an artificial surface and he gets the nod at the chief expense of Icy Dip, who should also relish the return to the all-weather after struggling at Newmarket. There is more to come from Protest Rally, while Aljari and Shades Of Summer are a couple more of interest.

PROTEST RALLY did well (caught wide) to make a winning handicap debut at Southwell and he ran well in defeat at Nottingham since, so he gets the nod ahead of Icy Dip, who should also benefit from a return to AW. Aljari also merits respect.

Shades Of Summer can go well back down in grade but ICY DIP will appreciate the return to Polytrack and is marginally preferred.

Connections of Duke Of Luckley turn to a first-time visor following his disappointing run over 2m4f at Huntingdon in April, and he can take advantage of a drop in trip. He is now rated 5lb below his last winning mark, but SOMEWHAT CLOUDY has been consistent of late and is fancied to get the better of the six-year-old. She has had wind surgery following a third-placed effort at Perth last month. Arbennig rates best of the rest.

If able to cut out the early mistakes that put him on the back foot last time, ARBENNIG will be a serious player off a mark 6 lb below that off which he opened his chase account last May. Duke of Luckley hasn't gone on from his debut success in this sphere but it wouldn't be the biggest of surprises were he to bounce back now tried in more severe headgear. The mare Somewhat Cloudy is best of the rest.

Donald McCain's mare SOMEWHAT CLOUDY has made a pretty solid start to her chasing career this year and has a good opportunity here.

An intriguing contest. Sir Mark Prescott Bt sends over Whatawit from his stable in Britain and this five-year-old gelding couldn't be arriving in better form, following wide-margin victories at Huntingdon and in a match race at Ffos Las. It wouldn't be surprising to see him go very well, but MON COEUR has plenty of ability and ran as well as could be expected in second behind a horse with a triple-figure rating at Listowel. Nikini flopped in a staying maiden at Sligo in May, but is a very talented hurdler and could have a major say. Enniskerry hasn't been seen since December but, on his penultimate start, he won a Grade 3 novice chase at Roscommon. Aussie Warrior was tough off the front in a Roscommon maiden hurdle recently, while Sea The Stars filly Bella Nebula makes her debut for a shrewd stable.

WHATAWIT has won two of his three starts in bumpers this year and, a rare raider on these shores from the ultra-shrewd Sir Mark Prescott yard, he is very interesting indeed now switched to the Flat. Fellow bumper winner Mon Coeur has found just one too good on each of his two starts in this sphere and is greatly respected, while Nikini, a bumper/dual hurdles scorer, can build on her Flat debut at Sligo and also take a hand in the finish.

NIKINI is a decent NH mare and was a fine fourth in a Sligo maiden last time after being slowly away, so can score.

ROYAL ATHENA posted a career-best performance when winning over course and distance 10 days ago, on what was her first attempt at this trip. Tom Ward's filly should continue to progress over middle distances and is fancied to shrug off a 6lb penalty. Recent Wolverhampton scorer Philos should remain competitive from a 4lb raised mark, while it would be no surprise were handicap debutant La Espanola to make an impact now pitched in at a moderate level.

ROYAL ATHENA produced a big career best on her first crack at this trip when successful here 10 days ago and a penalty won't stop a very bold follow-up bid. Fellow last-time-out scorer Philos is the obvious threat, with Alex The Great a potential improver tackling a more suitable trip.

This is a tight call between the two recent winners in Philos and ROYAL ATHENA but the vote goes to the latter.

Brilliant Blue is another to consider.

STREETSTORM would probably have won with a clear passage here 12 days ago, and with this trip well worth exploring, she looks the way to go. Brilliant Blue is well weighted these days so needs considering, along with Naasma eased in class.
