1st (1) (0.57/1 +54%) Carrigeen Kampala |
0.57/1(+54%) | (1) Carrigeen Kampala 0.57/1, Course bumper winner who found herself in a poor race and ran out a comprehensive winner second time out over hurdles after 6 months off at Stratford under this rider, taking strong hold but still drawing clear. More to come. Course bumper winner who won by 10l over hurdles at Stratford last month; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5.5/1 -10%) Ede'Iffs Rock |
5.5/1(-10%) | (5) Ede'Iffs Rock 5.5/1, Second of 8 in novice hurdle at Warwick (16f, good to soft, 50/1) on hurdles bow 30 days ago. This is tougher. Made promising start over hurdles when runner-up behind a 2-13 shot at Warwick; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (5/1 +23%) Mairis Icon |
5/1(+23%) | (10) Mairis Icon 5/1, No show in a couple of bumpers but fair bit to like about her 2 efforts over hurdles, running on late in C&D novice a fortnight ago. Has races in her. Stayed on well for third over C&D last time and she's open to more progress; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (33/1 -50%) Ambush Annie |
33/1(-50%) | (3) Ambush Annie 33/1, Runner-up in pair of ordinary Irish points. Little impact in a couple of races over hurdles in recent weeks. Tongue tie goes on. Well held in both hurdle runs and she needs a tongue-tie to make a difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (200/1 -100%) Allez Allez Dancer |
200/1(-100%) | (2) Allez Allez Dancer 200/1, Unplaced in a point bumper over a year earlier and showed nothing tried hurdling at Warwick recently. Well held in a point bumper last spring and was tailed off on her recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (125/1 -25%) Maskara |
125/1(-25%) | (7) Maskara 125/1, Well held in bumper/2 races over hurdles. Well beaten in all three starts including at massive prices in two hurdle runs this spring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (7.5/1 -114%) Scarlett Clipper |
7.5/1(-114%) | (9) Scarlett Clipper 7.5/1, £15,000 3-y-o, Milan mare. Half-sister to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser Simply The Betts and useful hurdler Crimson Ark. Hood on. One to note on debut in very winnable contest. Stablemate of Carrigeen Kampala and market should guide on debut; hood applied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (28/1 -133%) Jobesgreen Girl |
28/1(-133%) | (6) Jobesgreen Girl 28/1, Better effort in bumpers early last year when modest third at Worcester (fitted with tongue tie) on second start. Been off for over a year ahead of this switch to hurdles. Best watched unless the betting hints otherwise. Her pedigree suggests she could be a longer-term prospect; best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (25/1 +24%) Ryder's Rock |
25/1(+24%) | (8) Ryder's Rock 25/1, Limited impact in a couple of bumpers and got no further than the first flight on recent hurdles debut at Taunton. Down the field in two Wincanton bumpers and she didn't get very far on her hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (66/1 +0%) Bollywollywotsit |
66/1(+0%) | (4) Bollywollywotsit 66/1, Bollin Eric mare. Dam, unplaced sole start over hurdles, 7f (at 2 yrs)-1½m winner on Flat. Makes her belated debut and is best watched unless market suggests otherwise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Carrigeen Kampala shed her maiden tag at the second time of asking over hurdles when romping home at Stratford last month, but life will be tougher here now saddled with a 7lb penalty in what looks a deeper contest. Therefore, a chance is taken on MAIRIS ICON. Seamus Mullins' filly posted her best effort to date with a third-placed finish over C&D a fortnight ago and a similar level of performance may suffice, with last-time-out runner-up Ede'iffs Rock another worthy alternative.
CARRIGEEN KAMPALA won well at Stratford and has been found another good opportunity under a penalty back at the scene of her bumper victory. Scarlett Clipper starts out in a very winnable contest and is one to note. There are races in Mairis Icon also.
Course bumper winner CARRIGEEN KAMPALA won in good style over hurdles at Stratford last month and may well be able to defy a penalty.

1st (6) (4/1 +38%) Imperial Khan |
4/1(+38%) | (6) Imperial Khan 4/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. Cheekpieces on first time, creditable fifth of 13 in handicap (16/1) at Catterick (5f, good) 16 days ago. Better than the result when 5th at Catterick latest; dropped 1lb; each-way squeak. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (4.5/1 +0%) Emeralds Pride |
4.5/1(+0%) | (2) Emeralds Pride 4.5/1, 12/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) on reappearance 23 days ago but should be sharper for the outing and she's well treated on the pick of last year's turf form. Didn't progress last year; pulled hard on return; down in trip/grade but not without risk. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (9/1 -50%) Sharrabang |
9/1(-50%) | (9) Sharrabang 9/1, Twenty one runs since last win in 2021. Very good second of 8 in handicap (18/1) at Hamilton (5f, good to firm) 12 days ago. Can give a good account. On losing run but he went close at Hamilton 12 days ago; in the mix with a repeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (22/1 +0%) Golden Prosperity |
22/1(+0%) | (11) Golden Prosperity 22/1, Remains a maiden after 18 Flat runs. Below form thirteenth of 20 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, good, 50/1) 11 days ago. Exposed maiden who flattered to deceive a few times over the winter; well beaten latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (22/1 -10%) Howyadoin |
22/1(-10%) | (8) Howyadoin 22/1, Modest maiden. Shaped as if needing run when fifth of 7 in handicap at Catterick (5f, good to soft, 22/1) on reappearance 35 days ago. May fare better this time. 0-11 but there was promise last summer and he can leave his reappearance behind him today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (4/1 +20%) Van Gerwen |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Van Gerwen 4/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 12/1, close second of 9 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good to firm) 10 days ago. One to consider. Narrowly failed at Ripon ten days ago; same mark; has won over C&D; one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (9/1 +25%) Snow Berry |
9/1(+25%) | (7) Snow Berry 9/1, Notched 3 turf wins in 2021 but has drawn a blank since. Her mark has come down as a result, though, and she wasn't beaten far when last of 7 at Southwell 23 days ago. Back on turf for the first time this year. Better on turf than AW and returns to grass on a competitive mark; one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (25/1 -25%) Roman Blaze |
25/1(-25%) | (5) Roman Blaze 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. Best run when fifth of 12 in handicap (66/1) at Ayr (6f, good) 23 days ago. Needs to build on that now. Recent h'cap debut (6f, good) was better but not sure to benefit from another drop in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (2.25/1 +55%) High Security |
2.25/1(+55%) | (1) High Security 2.25/1, C&D winner. Creditable fourth of 8 over C&D (good, 17/2) 15 days ago. Can play a part if a wide draw isn't too big an inconvenience. C&D winner; ran well in a Class 5 here two weeks ago; widest draw to contend with. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (40/1 -150%) Star Of Havana |
40/1(-150%) | (12) Star Of Havana 40/1, Well held in 3 outings over 6f last autumn but more realistic chance now handicapping at a modest level on reappearance. One to note in the betting. Poor form in three 6f runs last year; bred to do better; betting instructive on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (80/1 -142%) Sir Arthur's Boy |
80/1(-142%) | (10) Sir Arthur's Boy 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 12 in handicap at Southwell (6f, 40/1) on reappearance 20 days ago. Makes turf debut. Cheekpieces on first time. Beaten one home in 4 starts; tailed off on recent h'cap debut; down in trip & headgear now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Van Gerwen was denied by the narrowest of margins at Ripon earlier this month and he should not be dismissed off the same mark, but HARRY WITH STYLE made a pleasing switch to turf when scoring at Bath last time out and shades the vote. He has gone up 10lb for that success, but Adam Tracey negates half of that rise with his 5lb claim, so the gelded son of Dutch Art would be foolish to dismiss. Sharrabang and High Security are others worthy of consideration.
The handicapper might have taken a bit of a chance dropping EMERALDS PRIDE for a reappearance run which she may simply have needed and she's on a good mark based on her 2022 exploits. Van Gerwen is getting on a bit now but showed he can still make an impact from his reduced mark when narrowly denied at Ripon recently. The shortlist is completed by Stella Barclay's Sharrabang.
Plenty of possibles but SNOW BERRY should appreciate the return to turf and she can capitalise on her reduced mark.

1st (2) (1.62/1 +35%) Abate |
1.62/1(+35%) | (2) Abate 1.62/1, Returned to form when close third of 9 in handicap (3/1) at Wetherby (5.5f, good to firm) 15 days ago. Just 1 lb higher now and holds strong claims. Near miss at Wetherby 15 days ago; stiff 5f no problem; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (12/1 +14%) Brian The Snail |
12/1(+14%) | (7) Brian The Snail 12/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2021. Fourth of 9 in handicap at Ripon (5f, good to firm, 18/1) 10 days ago, left poorly placed. Has work to do. Down in weights and offered some promise at Ripon latest; Billy Loughnane booked; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (8/1 -60%) Refuge |
8/1(-60%) | (6) Refuge 8/1, Scored for fourth time over this C&D when taking 6-runner handicap (good) 24 days ago, kept up to work. Remains feasibly treated and looks sure to go well again. Gained 4th course win when ready C&D winner 24 days ago; apprentice having first ride. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (3.33/1 +5%) Ramon Di Loria |
3.33/1(+5%) | (3) Ramon Di Loria 3.33/1, Bounced back to form when narrowly taking 9-runner handicap at Carlisle (5f, good, 8/1) 9 days ago. 5 lb penalty to carry now but not taken lightly. Strong finish at Carlisle last week; only 2lb higher despite penalty; needs a good pace. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (6.5/1 +28%) Soul Seeker |
6.5/1(+28%) | (5) Soul Seeker 6.5/1, C&D winner. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Beverley (5f, good to soft, 22/1) 34 days ago. Given a chance by the handicapper. On a good mark and 2-3 at this track; quiet last month but could revive back in a Class 5. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (6/1 -50%) Rock Melody |
6/1(-50%) | (1) Rock Melody 6/1, Creditable sixth of 11 in handicap at this C&D (good, 12/1) 17 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Others preferred. Started out for this yard with two good runs; not quite so sharp the last twice; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (10/1 +0%) Be Proud |
10/1(+0%) | (4) Be Proud 10/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. 5/2, creditable third of 8 in handicap at Ayr (5f, good) 7 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. On a losing run but last week's Ayr third was a fair effort; more needed to win. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This represents a more suitable task for ROCK MELODY to bounce back in and Jim Goldie's four-year-old is taken to build on a fair sixth in a better C&D race earlier this month. She is rated 1lb lower for that run and Jonny Peate knocks off an additional 3lb with his claim, but Ramon Di Loria scored in game fashion at Carlisle last time out and should not be dismissed under a 5lb penalty. Recent C&D winner Refuge should also be noted off 4lb higher.
This can go to ABATE, who has been given a chance by the handicapper and came close at Wetherby last time. Recent winners Refuge and Ramon Di Loria are feared most.
Competitive despite the small field. ABATE ran well last time and is preferred to Ramon De Loria.

1st (2) (3/1 +45%) Tommie Beau |
3/1(+45%) | (2) Tommie Beau 3/1, Back on the scoreboard at Plumpton (25.7f) in March but down the field both starts since, albeit not disgraced at Fakenham 3 weeks ago. Clearcut win at Plumpton in March but has been laboured in last two runs; risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (2.25/1 +10%) Trevada |
2.25/1(+10%) | (4) Trevada 2.25/1, Fair bumper scorer for Nigel Twiston-Davies and similar standard over hurdles for current yard. Decent start over fences when runner-up at Plumpton 17 days ago and stiffer test here should suit. More to come. Made solid start over fences when runner-up at Plumpton; respected back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (3.5/1 -86%) Ballinsker |
3.5/1(-86%) | (3) Ballinsker 3.5/1, Back in form now, resuming winning ways at Chepstow last month. Remains unexposed at this sort of trip and should go well again. Made all when beating a clear second at Chepstow last month; big player again up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (4/1 +11%) Premiumaccess |
4/1(+11%) | (5) Premiumaccess 4/1, On a losing run but at least he quickly put a poor run behind him when fourth at Wincanton and mark continues to ease. Several fair efforts since October but he's now 1-16 over fences and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (8.5/1 -6%) Forgot To Ask |
8.5/1(-6%) | (1) Forgot To Ask 8.5/1, Decisive winner at Stratford (27.5f) off 5 lb higher a year ago. Ended 2022 out of form but hinted at a revival after 5 months off when sixth at Kempton 30 days ago and potentially on a good mark if building on that. On dangerous mark but he needs to raise his game back up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BALLINSKER proved a different proposition when making all over an extended 2m7f at Chepstow last month and the eight-year-old could have enough improvement in him over this longer distance to shrug off a 4lb rise. Trevada arrives in good form and can't be discounted, but he will need to settle better to see this stiffer test out, so a bigger threat may emerge from Forgot To Ask, who is now 5lb lower than his Stratford success last May.
TREVADA made a promising chase debut when second at Plumpton and is taken to go one better with this stiffer test likely to suit. The in-form Ballinsker is the obvious threat.
Top of the list is BALLINSKER, who made all when beating a clear second at Chepstow last month and a 4lb rise for that win looks fair.

1st (9) (1.2/1 +52%) Travel Candy |
1.2/1(+52%) | (9) Travel Candy 1.2/1, Twice-raced maiden. 125/1, sixth of 9 in maiden at Naas (5f, good) 25 days ago. Will find this much less demanding and she's an interesting runner from handy draw. Latest Naas run came in a good maiden and she shaped okay; big chance dropped in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (3/1 +14%) Patasola |
3/1(+14%) | (7) Patasola 3/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, eighth of 11 in maiden at Haydock (6f, good) 5 days ago, weakening under 2f out. Still, not ruled out for each-way purposes. First two runs both offer hope now dropping into this grade; drawn 1; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (50/1 -257%) Naval Flight |
50/1(-257%) | (4) Naval Flight 50/1, Twice-raced maiden. 125/1, tenth of 11 in maiden at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 16 days ago. Needs to step up to figure even at this level. She has achieved little in her two starts and the drop in class isn't enough to tempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/1 +9%) Lady Of The Garr |
5/1(+9%) | (6) Lady Of The Garr 5/1, Foaled March 7. €40,000 foal, Mehmas filly. Half-sister to several winners, including useful winner up to 6f Wasntexpectingthat and 1m winner Itsakindamagic. Dam unraced. Wouldn't need to be anything out the ordinary to figure on debut. 40,000euros foal; half-sister to five winners; starts out at a low level; betting to guide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/1 -69%) Mist Of Lir |
11/1(-69%) | (1) Mist Of Lir 11/1, Modest colt. 10/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, eighth of 9 in maiden at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 9 days ago. Claims of hitting the frame if blinkers have positive effect now. One run that offers hope but looks vulnerable despite new headgear and a drop in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (25/1 -108%) Bellestarr |
25/1(-108%) | (3) Bellestarr 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 28/1, sixth of 9 in maiden at Redcar (6f, good to soft) 9 days ago, weakening from halfway. More needed. Poor form in three runs this spring; down in class with enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (14/1 +0%) Bargain Basement |
14/1(+0%) | (5) Bargain Basement 14/1, Twice-raced maiden. Seventh of 10 in maiden at Redcar (6f, good to soft, 50/1) 9 days ago, diving right leaving stalls and never involved. Recorded an RPR of just 39 in his two runs this month; down in grade; likely best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (14/1 -56%) Lastingham |
14/1(-56%) | (2) Lastingham 14/1, Foaled April 11. Pastoral Pursuits colt. Dam 5.7-6f winner. Last of 6 in maiden at Doncaster (5f, heavy, 33/1) on debut 25 days ago, ridden halfway and soon beaten. This should reveal more. Last of six on debut but behind a smart sort and shaped okay; capable of a fair bit better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (66/1 -164%) Chicabiddy |
66/1(-164%) | (8) Chicabiddy 66/1, Once-raced maiden. 40/1, eighth of 9 in minor event at this C&D (good to soft) on debut 42 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Offered little over C&D on debut six weeks ago; blinkers added; yard runs two. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
In a contest lacking depth, a tentative vote is given to PATASOLA, who has proven to be capable of better than her most recent outing at Haydock suggests. She drops considerably in class from that run and looks the one to side with. Any market support would be significant for the unraced Lady Of The Garr, while Lastingham is another to bear in mind.
Irish raider TRAVEL CANDY will find this much less demanding than her assignment in a Naas maiden 25 days ago and, from a handy draw, gets the nod to capitalise on the marked drop in grade. Newcomer Lady of The Garr wouldn't need to be anything out of the ordinary to figure and she's worth monitoring in the betting. Patasola completes the shortlist.
A weak race but Patasola and TRAVEL CANDY have shown clear promise against useful opposition and look the two to focus on.

2nd (7) (5.5/1 +39%) Swordplay |
5.5/1(+39%) | (7) Swordplay 5.5/1, Foaled May 4. €20,000 yearling, Kodiac colt. Closely related to 1m winner Tilett and half-brother to smart winner up to 1¼m Robin of Navan and useful 9.5f winner My Pleasure, all abroad. Yard's newcomers always respected. 6/1(-50%) | (8) Invincible Tiger 6/1, Once-raced filly. Sixth of 11 in minor event at Thirsk (5f, heavy, 11/4) on debut 25 days ago, slowly away. Likely to improve. 11-4 for Thirsk debut over 5f, outpaced but kept on well for close 6th; can improve. |

4th (3) (1/1 +47%) Lieutenant Rascal |
1/1(+47%) | (3) Lieutenant Rascal 1/1, Twice-raced colt. Stepped up on debut effort when close second of 7 in maiden (6/1) over C&D (good to firm) 12 days ago, sticking to task. Blinkers now added and is the one to beat. Solid front-running 2nd behind Kevin Ryan newcomer over C&D; now goes in blinkers. |

33/1(-200%) | (5) Moyola 33/1, Twice-raced colt. 12/1, third of 4 in maiden at Ayr (5f, good) 23 days ago. Each-way claims. Travelled strongly when 3rd of 4 at Ayr, improving greatly from debut; can come on again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (6.5/1 -8%) Crack The Kode |
6.5/1(-8%) | (1) Crack The Kode 6.5/1, Once-raced gelding. 15/2, fourth of 10 in minor event at Beverley (5f, good) on debut 15 days ago, running on. Should progress. Shaped nicely in 4th on Beverley debut; looks a good bet to improve for the run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (9/1 -29%) Grecian Princess |
9/1(-29%) | (9) Grecian Princess 9/1, Twice-raced filly. Left debut effort well behind when fourth of 14 in minor event at Doncaster (5f, good to firm, 33/1) 11 days ago. May have more to offer yet. Marked improvement when switched to good ground at Doncaster; should come on again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Only narrowly denied over C&D earlier this month, first-time blinkers could do the trick for LIEUTENANT RASCAL and the son of U S Navy Flag is fancied to break his maiden at the third time of asking. Swordplay is related to a few smart types and warrants a market check for his racecourse bow, while Grecian Princess and Moyola are others worthy of consideration.
LIEUTENANT RASCAL built on his encouraging debut when a good second here earlier this month and sets the standard on that form. He can open his account. Grecian Princess and Invincible Tiger can also make their presence felt.
Some likely improvers but LIEUTENANT RASCAL sets a fair standard on his C&D form and is preferred to Crack The Kode.

6/1(-9%) | (1) Bala Brook 6/1, Getaway gelding who showed a bit when around 20 lengths fourth on Exeter bumper debut in December but failed to build on that when down the field at Wincanton on Boxing Day. Switches to hurdles after a 5-month break. Has fewer convictions than the majority of these. Out of sister to Cue Card and looks a possible improver upped in trip on hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (40/1 +60%) Kylenoe Dancer |
40/1(+60%) | (9) Kylenoe Dancer 40/1, Poor form in bumpers and hasn't even managed that in 5 attempts over hurdles. Some ability in bumpers but she's struggled over hurdles, with form figures of 7UPP6. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (100/1 +0%) Etoile Brillante |
100/1(+0%) | (8) Etoile Brillante 100/1, No sign of ability in 3 bumpers. Goes hurdling over a longer trip back from 6 months off/wind op. Tailed off in three bumpers and makes no appeal on hurdling debut; had wind op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (3) (100/1 +0%) Getaway Tothe Wood |
100/1(+0%) | (3) Getaway Tothe Wood 100/1, No show in 2 hurdles at the start of the spring. Massive prices and has shown very little in his two hurdle runs this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (10/1 +50%) Bella Noche |
10/1(+50%) | (7) Bella Noche 10/1, Won only 1 of 8 starts in points but does start out over hurdles in a weak race. Disappointing in her last two points and is best watched on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (12/1 +14%) Great Schema |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Great Schema 12/1, Showed just poor form in bumpers for Gordon Elliott. Won 2 British points before Christmas but pulled up on Taunton hurdle debut at the end of December. Off since. 2-2 in points but he's 0-4 under rules and was pulled up on his hurdling debut in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (150/1 -20%) Vendange |
150/1(-20%) | (6) Vendange 150/1, Has shown nothing in 6 starts, pulling up back from 11 months off at Taunton last time. First-time cheekpieces need to transform him. Has struggled in all five starts over hurdles with pulled-up efforts in last three runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BASFORD has proved expensive to follow, but he won't find many easier opportunities than what he has faced with here and Jennie Candlish's mount is hard to oppose. Hurdling debutant Bala Brook is stoutly bred and should appreciate this longer distance. The son of Getaway may prove to be the sternest rival, ahead of two-time point-to-point winner Great Schema, who should find this easier than his hurdling debut at Taunton in late-December.
While BASFORD's string of runner-up efforts raise doubts about him being one to be taking very short odds about it's very hard to find an alternative to him in this line-up. If there is one that might shake him up it's probably Joe Tizzard's Bala Brook, who showed a bit of promise on the first of 2 bumper starts at the end of 2022.
The versatile 6yo BASFORD is the standout contender in this weak race and should have no trouble cashing in on a golden opportunity.

1st (7) (22/1 -100%) Cliffcake |
22/1(-100%) | (7) Cliffcake 22/1, Built up a good strike rate for this yard but seemingly been working his way back to full fitness so far this term, weakening final 1f when tenth in 12-runner Thirsk handicap (1m) 11 days ago. Now below last winning mark so not one to write off. Four most recent wins at 7f and conditions should suit back at this trip; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (3/1 +25%) Ugo Gregory |
3/1(+25%) | (10) Ugo Gregory 3/1, 3-time C&D winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at this course (8.4f, good, 9/2) 15 days ago. Enters calculations from handy draw with yard hitting form. Three C&D wins; some creditable 1m runs here of late; on the premises back at 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (4/1 +33%) Beltane |
4/1(+33%) | (2) Beltane 4/1, Eased in weights and duly capitalised when landing 9-runner handicap on return at Musselburgh (1m) 53 days ago, having run of race. Picked up for 6,000 gns by new yard since and 5 lb higher mark gives him claims again despite a wide draw. Front-running winner at 1m on latest; sold 6,000gns since; interesting for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (4/1 +20%) Sir Maxi |
4/1(+20%) | (9) Sir Maxi 4/1, Belatedly capitalised on easing mark when getting on top in dying strides over C&D last summer. Operating below best in couple of outings so far this season but bounce back certainly not ruled out from handy draw with Oisin Murphy an eye-catching booking. Modest strike-rate but won only C&D start (good to firm) and O Murphy is 6-10 for yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (12/1 +14%) Culcor |
12/1(+14%) | (5) Culcor 12/1, 16/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 9 in handicap at Haydock (7f, good) 18 days ago, off the pace halfway and beaten under 2f out. Visor on 1st time. Tough to assess at present. Won 7f maiden at Gowran last summer; well held for both British yards; something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (12/1 +40%) Mercurius Power |
12/1(+40%) | (4) Mercurius Power 12/1, Below form tenth of 16 in handicap at Pontefract (1m, good to soft, 50/1) 37 days ago, give underfoot possibly not suiting ideally. Now operating 2 lb below last winning mark if return to quicker ground has positive effect here. Fair AW run in March; slow surfaces against him on turf since; good to firm suits better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (12/1 +14%) Boafo Boy |
12/1(+14%) | (3) Boafo Boy 12/1, Latest win at Newcastle (7f) in January. Sixth of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (1m) 27 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Return to 7f a plus on that evidence but his recent record is a somewhat patchy one. First 2 runs on turf as 2yo, winning on debut; raced on AW since; intriguing back on grass. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (6.5/1 -18%) Special Mayson |
6.5/1(-18%) | (11) Special Mayson 6.5/1, 5/4, respectable third of 7 in handicap at Catterick (6f, soft) 35 days ago. Return to a faster surface will hold no fears now stepping back up in trip and he's another not out of things. Dual 7f winner; best recent form at 6f and stiff test at this trip may not be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (11/1 -29%) Flash The Dash |
11/1(-29%) | (8) Flash The Dash 11/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2021. 16/1, first run since re-joining present stable when respectable seventh of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 26 days ago. Ease in class rates a plus if he can build on that now. Useful 7f novice form as 2yo; had some disappointments since but these conditions suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (66/1 -136%) Temper Trap |
66/1(-136%) | (12) Temper Trap 66/1, 12/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Wetherby (8f, good to firm) 15 days ago, racing off the pace and never landing a blow. Must improve. Getting well handicapped again but all wins in the second half of the year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (20/1 -167%) Star Zinc |
20/1(-167%) | (6) Star Zinc 20/1, Remains a maiden and probably has a quirk or two but consistent for Charlie Fellowes and he shaped as if better for the run starting out for new yard when sixth in 9-runner Haydock handicap (7f) 18 days ago. Likely has a bigger effort in his locker if things fall into place. Maiden but has a 7f race in him on 2022 form; stiffer test at the trip is worth a go. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (200/1 -203%) Park Street |
200/1(-203%) | (1) Park Street 200/1, 1m winner on AW for John & Thady Gosden but offered little in handful of starts on Flat/over hurdles for present yard last year and similarly no upturn back from 6 months off when last of 15 in handicap at Thirsk 11 days ago. Can only be watched. AW winner on final run for Gosdens; form for new yard suggests he needs weight off back. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BELTANE has gone up 5lb following a facile success over a mile at Musselburgh last month and he looks the one to beat on his stable debut for Mick Appleby. He does have to shoulder joint-top weight for this run, though, so Special Mayson should not be taken lightly back up in trip following a staying-on third over 6f most recently. Ugo Gregory is another to consider dropping in distance.
A 3-time C&D winner, UGO GREGORY went winless last term but there have been more encouraging signs from his much-reduced mark in recent weeks and he could be ready to strike from a handy draw eased back in trip. Musselburgh scorer Beltane, on debut for Mick Appleby, is a threat, along with Special Mayson. Cliffcake also makes each-way appeal from an easing mark.
Star Zinc has solid claims on his 7f form last summer but SIR MAXI was suited by this C&D when winning here last summer.

1st (5) (12/1 -85%) Thaki |
12/1(-85%) | (5) Thaki 12/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. 14/1, respectable third of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (5.8f, good) 9 days ago, hampered. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Yet to win on turf but running well for current stable; should remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (2.25/1 -29%) Lord Abama |
2.25/1(-29%) | (4) Lord Abama 2.25/1, Ran right up to best when close second of 7 in handicap at Carlisle (5.8f, good, 7/2) 9 days ago. Can race off same mark and holds strong claims. Career-best when second to a thriving rival at Carlisle last week (6f); strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/1 +9%) Gannon Glory |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Gannon Glory 5/1, Proved largely consistent this year, making the frame again when third of 5 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good) 23 days ago. 1 lb lower now and ought to be in the mix again. Proving expensive to follow but running okay and could get a relatively easy lead. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (2.75/1 +31%) Yaaser |
2.75/1(+31%) | (2) Yaaser 2.75/1, Turned in best effort of season when third of 9 in handicap at Ayr (8f, good) 7 days ago, running on. Fairly treated if handling drop back in trip. Solid 3rd over 1m last week; 2lb lower today but the drop to 6f is an unknown variable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (2.25/1 +36%) Swiss Ace |
2.25/1(+36%) | (1) Swiss Ace 2.25/1, Latest win at Newcastle in March. 10/1, creditable fifth of 15 in handicap at Thirsk (7f, good) 11 days ago. Not out of things. On his last winning mark, comes here in form and B Loughnane 2-3 for the yard; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (100/1 -150%) Blue Jay Way |
100/1(-150%) | (6) Blue Jay Way 100/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 66/1, last of 4 in minor event at Catterick (7f, good to soft). Off 8 months. First run for yard after leaving Mick Channon. Improvement required on yard/handicap debut. Finished last in 3 runs for M Channon last summer; down in trip for stable/handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
LORD ABAMA lost little in defeat when finishing a close second over this trip at Carlisle earlier this month and the fact he retains the mark from that run makes the four-year-old of significant interest. Thaki kept on for third behind the selection in that aforementioned contest and warrants a market check, but he shaped as though he could need a stiffer stamina test on that occasion. Yaaser drops in distance following a decent third over a mile at Ayr and completes the shortlist.
Preference is for LORD ABAMA, who was clear of the remainder when runner-up at Carlisle last week and remains fairly treated. Gannon Glory can also make his presence felt.
Lord Abama is respected but SWISS ACE drops in class and can give the weight away all round.

1st (2) (0.67/1 +0%) Chief Black Robe |
0.67/1(+0%) | (2) Chief Black Robe 0.67/1, Runner-up in last 3 starts in points (latest last month) and much improved when opening his account over fences for new yard at Market Rasen (23.8f) 9 days ago. Manner of that success suggests he can do better again. Easy win on chase debut at Market Rasen last week and should be hard to beat under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 +20%) Swapped |
4/1(+20%) | (1) Swapped 4/1, Fairly useful winner in bumpers who displayed signs of promise in trio of novice hurdles last year. Failed to make any immediate progress following wind op/switch to handicaps at Huntingdon (19.6f) 3 weeks ago but not one to write off now attentions switch to chasing with cheekpieces enlisted. Still lightly raced and with top yard but he needs improvement on this switch to fences.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (16/1 +11%) Justshortofabubble |
16/1(+11%) | (7) Justshortofabubble 16/1, Long-standing maiden over hurdles who failed to justify market confidence when seventh on handicap chase debut at Ffos Las (23.8f) 9 days ago. Needs to step up on that if he's to figure. 0-17 over hurdles and was tailed off on his chase debut last week; can only be watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/1 -56%) Imprevu Du Large |
7/1(-56%) | (4) Imprevu Du Large 7/1, More like it when third on handicap hurdle debut at Ludlow (23.8f) 17 days ago. In excellent hands and interesting if strong in betting now sent chasing from such a lowly mark. Tongue tie on 1st time. Lightly raced 5yo who looks a possible improver back in trip on his chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 +36%) Seymour Promise |
9/1(+36%) | (3) Seymour Promise 9/1, Off the track 15 months but given a chance by the assessor and highlighted versatility in finishing runner-up in trio of handicap hurdles from 2m-3¼m earlier this year. Well below best at Exeter (23f) in March though and needs to get back on track on this second try over fences. His hurdling form slumped at Exeter last time; comes with risks attached back over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (25/1 +38%) Mountain Grey |
25/1(+38%) | (5) Mountain Grey 25/1, Only minor promise, but he did travel comfortably before fading when seventh of 10 on 17.5f Exeter chase/handicap debut last month. However, not in anything like the same form over the extended 25f trip here subsequently. Well held in all of his completed starts and he was pulled up over fences here last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (25/1 -25%) Broadoak |
25/1(-25%) | (6) Broadoak 25/1, Lightly-raced 8-y-o who was arguably undone by a late mistake when runner-up at Wincanton (20f) in March. Unable to replicate that either outing since, running poorly from just out of the weights at Stratford (19.5f) in April. Went close at Wincanton (2m4f) in March but his form has disintegrated in two runs since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
An emphatic winner over 3m at Market Rasen earlier this month, the vote goes to CHIEF BLACK ROBE. Fergal O'Brien's seven-year-old has to shoulder a 7lb penalty for that success, but that looks unlikely to stop him following up from a 27-length success during the aforementioned run. Imprevu Du Large makes his chasing debut for powerful connections and is feared most, while Swapped is another reverting to bigger obstacles and completes the shortlist.
CHIEF BLACK ROBE showed much-improved form when making a winning yard/chase debut at Market Rasen 9 days ago, cruising clear up the home straight. Wisely turned out under a penalty, a repeat should see him tough to beat. Chase debutants Imprevu du Large and Swapped both represent powerful stables and may emerge as the lead threats.
This can go to CHIEF BLACK ROBE, who won by 27l on his chase/stable debut last week and looks very well treated under a penalty.

4/1(+38%) | (1) Bobby's Blessing 4/1, Bobby's Kitten colt. Half-brother to useful/untrustworthy 6f winner Atalanta's Boy. Dam 2-y-o 5f winner. Makes a somewhat belated debut as a 4-y-o but in very good hands and market support behind him would need to be viewed positively. Out of 5f winner who bred multiple winning sprinter; market can guide on belated debut. |

2nd (5) (6/1 +0%) Leap Day |
6/1(+0%) | (5) Leap Day 6/1, Thrice-raced gelding. 15/8, sixth of 9 in maiden at Thirsk (6f, heavy) 20 days ago, soon off bridle and weakening over 1f out. Pick of his form gives him claims if he can shrug that effort off here. All races at 6f; useful turf debut (soft); well held since; new conditions/trip today. |

Likely to progress further and he's in the mix. Came on for debut when only just failing at Redcar (7f); solid chance of going one better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (6/1 -140%) Sidney's Son |
6/1(-140%) | (3) Sidney's Son 6/1, Promising sort. 4/1, very good second of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 23 days ago, leading under pressure 2f out and headed last ½f. From a family who progress well with age and big player with likelihood of more to come. Come on a bundle over the winter and has run two good races at 1m/7f on AW; thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (50/1 +0%) Lady Douglas |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Lady Douglas 50/1, Twice-raced filly. 50/1, ran well below debut form when sixth of 7 in maiden at Nottingham (8.3f) 19 days ago, testing conditions possibly against her. Remains early days but she's best watched until tackling handicaps. Hinted at ability on AW but finished remote on turf debut and handicaps more fruitful. |

6th (6) (14/1 +13%) Dance Angel |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Dance Angel 14/1, Twice-raced filly. Second of 6 in minor event at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 13/2) 19 days ago, ridden over 2f out and one paced. Handicaps entitled to be more her bag on the back of this. Should improve with racing but others have achieved more and this is her first turf run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (9/1 +18%) Tipp Town |
9/1(+18%) | (4) Tipp Town 9/1, Promise when midfield in 14-runner Ayr maiden (7.2f) on debut in September. Well below that level at Redcar the following month but gelded ahead of return to action and he could well get back on track, particularly in handicaps moving forward. Ran green but good late work into 5th on 7f debut; way back next time; off since October. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Narrowly denied over this distance at Redcar last time out, MAN OF A'AN must hold every chance if building on that effort for his in-form connections. He should have too much for Sidney's Son, who has bee runner-up on his last two starts on the all-weather. Dance Angel improved from first to second start when runner-up at Wolverhampton and is another to consider.
MAN OF A'AN took a marked step forward from his debut effort when a strong-finishing second in a Redcar novice 4 weeks ago and with further progress in the offing, he shades the vote to come out on top. Sidney's Son is similarly progressive and in with a big shout. Leap Day completes the shortlist.
Leap Day could be a danger but MAN OF A'AN looks a safer bet after his strong-finishing second at Redcar this month.

2/1(+43%) | (4) Simple Star 2/1, Wasn't unbacked and produced a career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Musselburgh (12.5f, good to soft) 26 days ago, pushed out. 3 lb rise is very fair so must go well. Won at Musselburgh (1m4f) latest start, his second win from 20 races; placed here in 2022. |

2nd (5) (11/1 -10%) A La Francaise |
11/1(-10%) | (5) A La Francaise 11/1, C&D winner. 50/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at this course (9.2f, good) 17 days ago, inadequate test. This trip is more suitable but others still more persuasive. Off the mark over C&D last September off 2lb lower; not so good in her three starts since. |

8/1(+0%) | (1) Molinari 8/1, C&D winner. Seventeenth of 18 in handicap (25/1) at York (11.8f, good to firm) 14 days ago. May have still needed the run but must leave that effort well behind. Needs a revival but is not dismissed, including as he won on his only run here (2021). |

4th (3) (3/1 -20%) Where's Jeff |
3/1(-20%) | (3) Where's Jeff 3/1, Cheekpieces on for first time, won 6-runner handicap at this C&D (good, 11/4) 24 days ago, digging deep. 2 lb rise won't prevent very bold follow-up bid. Rather mixed last season but nearly won on 2023 reappearance and did so next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (2.25/1 -13%) Sea Grey |
2.25/1(-13%) | (2) Sea Grey 2.25/1, Below form eleventh of 18 in handicap at York (11.8f, good to firm, 10/1) 14 days ago, though was left poorly placed. Reappearance second at Haydock brings him right into this. Lightly raced; well beaten at York latest but may still have more to offer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
WHERE'S JEFF bounced back to winning ways when narrowly holding on over C&D earlier in the month and a mere 2lb rise may not be enough to stop him recording a fourth course victory. That may be at the main expense of comfortable Musselburgh winner Simple Star and Sea Grey, who holds strong claims on the form of his penultimate second at Haydock.
SIMPLE STAR landed a few bets back on the level at Musselburgh at the beginning of the month and a 3 lb rise looks more than fair. Where's Jeff also tasted success last time and is feared most, ahead of Sea Grey, who had excuses at York,
This looks tricky but WHERE'S JEFF has started the season in particularly good heart and may well be the most solid option.

14/1(+0%) | (1) Itacare 14/1, Scored from a 3 lb higher mark at Ludlow last spring but seems to have lost the plot, tailed off following a third breathing operation at Worcester (23f, soft) just over 3 weeks ago (said to have lost shoe). Plenty to prove. Has lost his way and was tailed off at Worcester three weeks ago; needs a major revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (7.5/1 -50%) Bluffmeifyoucan |
7.5/1(-50%) | (3) Bluffmeifyoucan 7.5/1, Sprung a surprise to land an Exeter novice in 2021/22 and returned to form from out of the blue when runner-up at Fontwell (21.8f, good) in February. Failed to back that up when a well-beaten third at Wincaton (24.7f, soft) next time and returns from 1 lb higher after nearly 3 months off. Hard to predict but has claims if he can get back near his best after a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
An emphatic winner over 2m4f at Ffos Las last time out, SHERBORNE appears the one to beat, despite this being a stronger contest. Freddie Gingell negates most of the gelding's 10lb rise for that success, with his 7lb claim, and the seven-year-old should not be dismissed with that fact in mind. Loved Out was only narrowly denied at Ffos Las on Saturday and commands respect, while Kapitaliste finished a distant second at Worcester earlier this month and is another to consider.
The combination of a breathing operation/first-time tongue tie worked wonders for SHERBORNE when he sauntered to victory at Ffos Las just over 3 weeks ago and Joe Tizzard's charge is fancied to go in again partnered by a conditional for the first time. Maroochi was in good form prior to a couple of tumbles late last year so she's put forward as the main threat on reappearance, ahead of Kapitaliste.
It's hard to get away from SHERBORNE (nap), who turned things around after wind surgery with an easy win at Ffos Las three weeks ago.

1st (4) (5.5/1 +8%) Golden Sands |
5.5/1(+8%) | (4) Golden Sands 5.5/1, Latest win at Kempton in February. 28/1, good third of 11 in C&D handicap (good to soft) 34 days ago. Likely to go well. Close, front-running third over C&D when reverting to turf for latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (5/1 +9%) Crown Princess |
5/1(+9%) | (6) Crown Princess 5/1, C&D winner. Creditable seventh of 14 in handicap (12/1) at Hamilton (9.2f, good) 17 days ago. More needed. Not disgraced this term; well handicapped if returning to the form shown last May/June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (11/1 +8%) Poet's Dawn |
11/1(+8%) | (7) Poet's Dawn 11/1, Four-time C&D winner but arrives with something to prove after running poorly on his last 2 outings. 5-19 at Beverley and not seen here since scoring last August; 3lb higher today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (16/1 +11%) Scotch Mistress |
16/1(+11%) | (3) Scotch Mistress 16/1, Course winner. Last of 14 in handicap at Hamilton (9f, good) on reappearance 17 days ago. Others more persuasive. E-w chance if she reverts to her best form of 2022 but she is unraced on firmer than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (2.5/1 +29%) Casilli |
2.5/1(+29%) | (2) Casilli 2.5/1, Three-time C&D winner, the latest last July on her final 5-y-o start. Presumably needed the run when tenth of 14 on her Hamilton reappearance 17 days ago. This should reveal more. 5-8 here; probably needs a career best but with the return to Beverley it may be possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (4.5/1 -29%) Shaladar |
4.5/1(-29%) | (1) Shaladar 4.5/1, Second on Redcar reappearance and another sound run when fifth of 13 in a competitive heat at Hamilton since. Major player. Possibly best on good or softer; ran creditably this season but needs to find a bit extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (28/1 -40%) War Defender |
28/1(-40%) | (9) War Defender 28/1, Running poorly on AW when last seen. His mark has come down as a result but it's hard to know what sort of form he's in. 3-13 on AW (heavy defeats this year); 0-14 on turf but has a much lower mark than in 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (11/1 +31%) Captain Corelli |
11/1(+31%) | (8) Captain Corelli 11/1, C&D winner. Tenth of 11 in C&D handicap on reappearance 15 days ago. Behind here on return; much the same happened last year before he won second time out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (8/1 -78%) Dandy Maestro |
8/1(-78%) | (5) Dandy Maestro 8/1, 13/2, creditable second of 6 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) 18 days ago. Another who has to enter calculations. Got a lot closer to best 2022 form when second of six at Nottingham on latest start. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
CASILLI didn't show much on her return at Hamilton, but she is likely to improve for it and her record around here speaks for itself, having won five times. The daughter of Cacique gets the vote ahead of Golden Sands, who wasn't beaten far over C&D last month but remains winless on turf. Shaladar has run with credit on both starts this season and must also enter calculations.
SHALADAR has a solid record in handicaps since this time last year and can deservedly get his head back in front now. Golden Sands made a good return to turf when third over C&D last month and is second choice ahead of Richard Spencer's Dandy Maestro.
Casilli and Poet's Dawn have five wins apiece at this track. CAPTAIN CORELLI is another C&D winner to note, though.

1st (5) (5/1 +44%) End Zone |
5/1(+44%) | (5) End Zone 5/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. 12/1, creditable fourth of 9 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good) 16 days ago. Good chance on plenty of his 2022 form; close fourth at Catterick latest but 4-45 overall. |

2nd (1) (2/1 +20%) Arranmore |
2/1(+20%) | (1) Arranmore 2/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2021. 11/1, very good third of 12 in handicap at Thirsk (8f, good) 11 days ago, ridden too aggressively. Looks very interesting from this mark. Wind surgery before close 3rd at Thirsk (1m) 11 days ago, with a bold show from the front. |

3rd (4) (3.33/1 +45%) Strangerontheshore |
3.33/1(+45%) | (4) Strangerontheshore 3.33/1, 9/2, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Redcar (8f, good to soft) 9 days ago. 2 lb above last winning mark and expected to be on the premises. Not discredited last time; on a dangerous mark if back to last year's peak turf form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (2.5/1 +38%) Shine On Brendan |
2.5/1(+38%) | (3) Shine On Brendan 2.5/1, C&D winner. Creditable third of 8 in handicap (9/2) at Ayr (8f, good) 7 days ago. Likely to give it another good go. Three wins here last term and running with credit; has a bit more to prove on good to firm. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (10/1 -25%) Ciotog |
10/1(-25%) | (2) Ciotog 10/1, Creditable third of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW, 14/1) 22 days ago. That was a fair return to action but his mark looks about right. Best form AW; just five runs on turf, easily the pick of them when 2nd at Chester in 2021. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for BAY DREAM BELIEVER after a taking success at Wetherby, there should be more to come from Mark Walford's charge and the slight rise in distance is expected to suit. Not beaten far on each of his last three starts, Shine On Brendan can give her the most to think about, along with Arranmore, who ran very well on his second start for new connections at Thirsk.
On the back of a disappointing 2022 campaign, ARRANMORE showed a lot more on reappearance under an attacking ride and on that evidence, he's ready to cash in on this much-reduced mark. Strangerontheshore and Shine On Brendan are feared most.
Having made a promising return, ARRANMORE is preferred to the highly respected pair Shine On Brendan and Bay Dream Believer.

1st (3) (10/1 +17%) No Getaway |
10/1(+17%) | (3) No Getaway 10/1, Useful chaser at best but stopped quickly at Ffos Las on first outing since leaving Dan Skelton (sold for £8000) in February and didn't show a lot more at Ludlow a month later. Has struggled in both runs for current yard and hard to know how much abilitiy remains. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (1.5/1 +20%) Diligent |
1.5/1(+20%) | (2) Diligent 1.5/1, Successful six times in 2021 for Nigel Hawke, five over fences, and added another couple more over hurdles last spring. Made a good start for his current yard too and should bounce back from a lesser effort at Ludlow last month. Looks interesting on his penultimate form and this return to fast ground is a positive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (0.73/1 -18%) Espoir De Teillee |
0.73/1(-18%) | (1) Espoir De Teillee 0.73/1, Smart handicap chaser on his day and best effort for a while when readily making all in this sphere at Leicester in February. Overcame a late blunder when also successful at Kempton readily and another bold bid is assured. Useful chaser who has won hunter chases in two of his last three runs; major player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ESPOIR DE TEILLEE was always in control when scoring comfortably at Kempton last time out and a third win in four starts looks like a distinct possibility for the 11-year-old. He can get the better of Diligent, who is well capable on his day, but has not shown much since joining new connections, and No Getaway, another who has joined a new stable this year.
ESPOIR DE TEILLEE is prone to the odd bad mistake and conceding 8 lb to Diligent is no formality but he's still expected to go in again.
This can go to useful five-time chase winner ESPOIR DE TEILLEE, who has made all in hunter chases in two of his last three runs.

11/1(-38%) | (6) Urban Road 11/1, Winner at Southwell in April. 11/4, last of 6 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) 23 days ago, unsuited by way race developed. No surprise to see a better showing here. Did not get the best of runs last time; peak efforts on AW but he has a place chance. |

2nd (9) (5.5/1 +21%) Mr Heinz |
5.5/1(+21%) | (9) Mr Heinz 5.5/1, 11/1, good third of 9 in handicap at Wetherby (8f, good to firm) 15 days ago, sticking to task having been headed 2f out. Not out of things if building on that here. 0-9; close third from the front at Wetherby (1m) two weeks ago in second-time cheekpieces. |

3rd (1) (3/1 +10%) Hostelry |
3/1(+10%) | (1) Hostelry 3/1, Going through a good spell at present and didn't need to improve to win 8-runner handicap at Ayr (8f, good) 7 days ago, staying on to lead dying strides. 3.5/1(+53%) | (4) Clotherholme 3.5/1, C&D winner. Sixth of 9 in handicap at Catterick (7f, good, 11/1) 16 days ago. Back up in trip. Now below last winning mark. C&D win last June off 3lb higher; needs to better this season's efforts; back up from 7f. |

5th (2) (10/1 -122%) El Royale |
10/1(-122%) | (2) El Royale 10/1, 11/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, eleventh of 17 in handicap at Doncaster (7f, heavy) 33 days ago, slowly away and always behind. Still to prove himself as effective on turf as AW but the switch to quicker ground could well help and he remains low mileage. 0-7; backward steps when switched to turf for last two outings but they were on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (16/1 -14%) Krystal Maze |
16/1(-14%) | (10) Krystal Maze 16/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Creditable fifth of 14 in handicap at this course (7.4f, soft, 18/1) 30 days ago, no extra last ½f. Needs to back that up now. 2-28 overall; just over 2l fifth of 14 last time was the best of her eight runs here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (10/1 +0%) Mac Ailey |
10/1(+0%) | (7) Mac Ailey 10/1, Latest win at Southwell in December. Creditable fifth of 14 in handicap at Wetherby (8f, good to soft, 22/1) 31 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Latest start was a step back in the right direction and he has a chance on the ratings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (14/1 -133%) Captain St Lucifer |
14/1(-133%) | (5) Captain St Lucifer 14/1, One win from 29 Flat runs. Creditable second of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 3/1) 32 days ago, effort on inner early in straight and keeping on. Each-way claims back on turf. 1-29 strike-rate but runner-up in four of his last five starts; more to find on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (6/1 +63%) Available Angel |
6/1(+63%) | (3) Available Angel 6/1, Gained reward for some good placed efforts when resuming winning ways in minor event at Yarmouth (1m) in August and ended turf campaign with a good fourth over C&D in September. Below par on AW thereafter and she may strip fitter for this first start for 5 months. Did well on turf last July-September; absence since December is the worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (150/1 -275%) Trulie Good |
150/1(-275%) | (11) Trulie Good 150/1, Offered little in novice/maiden company during first half of last year, last of 12 in C&D event on final start 12 months ago. Best watched now handicapping on return. Low-level form after eight starts, failing to finish better than 6th; first tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (40/1 -150%) Lady Ziana |
40/1(-150%) | (8) Lady Ziana 40/1, Remains a maiden after 28 Flat runs. First run since leaving David Brown when last of 10 in minor event (28/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 76 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Needs a couple of these to falter. Longstanding maiden; some headgear returns and she had some minor honours last term. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
HOSTELRY got up in the shadows of the post over 1m at Ayr last week and with an extra 100 yards to go at on this occasion, she could follow up. Captain St Lucifer continues to run well without winning and it may be a similar story in this contest, while Mr Heinz and Urban Road are others worthy of shortlist inclusion.
HOSTELRY is hardly prolific, yet she comes here having doubled her career tally at Ayr 7 days ago and, with her rider's claim more than off-setting her subsequent rise, it would come as no surprise to see her firmly in the mix once more. Clotherholme has yet to hit top form this term but his mark is easing and a better showing is anticipated from his handy draw. El Royale is also worth a look under Oisin Murphy.
Clotherholme has claims now back up in trip but HOSTELRY (nap) is in a good run of form and should deliver another bold show.

5th (2) (5.5/1 +73%) Silk Bird |
5.5/1(+73%) | (2) Silk Bird 5.5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Fifth of 6 in novice event at Newcastle (10.2f, 11/2) 26 days ago, finding less than looked likely. Makes handicap debut. Pretty consistent but she needs to find a bit extra on this handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HI CLARE rounded off her juvenile season with a sterling effort as she made all to win a nursery over an extended mile at Wolverhampton last September, and has to be taken seriously as she resumes off just 3lb higher. It's an added bonus that she has some previous experience of this particular course and looks to have been set a realistic target for her return. Arkenstaar is an obvious threat, having won over C&D from a 5lb lower mark 12 days ago, while Silk Bird also warrants a second look.
ARKENSTAAR was impressive when scoring over C&D 12 days ago and given the way he went through that race, his revised mark may underestimate him. Tiamat probably has a bigger performance in her and is feared most, with Hi Clare another to consider on reappearance.
Recent C&D winner ARKENSTAAR (nap) probably needs to find more again but the style of that win suggests that he has a good chance.

40/1(+60%) | (10) Wellwillya 40/1, No impact in 4 starts over hurdles, including on Taunton handicap debut last month. Tailed off in all six starts including on handicap debut at Taunton last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
This looks like an ideal opportunity for CHARLIE MY BOY to get off the mark, having been runner-up on both starts since joining the Keiran Burke stable. He gets the vote ahead of Imperial Measure, following a pair of placed efforts, and Ballygoe, who looked to be holding every chance when falling two out at Exeter in March. Completing the shortlist are the likes of Hill Station and Shalott.
TESTFLIGHT is still relatively unexposed and shaped really well on his return at Exeter last month. He makes plenty of appeal. Charlie My Boy and Imperial Measure rate the principal dangers.
Several have possibilities but recent Fontwell runner-up CHARLIE MY BOY gets the vote ahead of Imperial Measue and Ballygoe.

3rd (2) (14/1 -75%) Three Dragons |
14/1(-75%) | (2) Three Dragons 14/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in November but off since a below par sixth at Chelmsford the following month. First outing on turf since his 2019 debut. Won the first of two starts back; solitary run on turf was a satisfactory debut in 2019. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/1 -8%) Jamih |
7/1(-8%) | (4) Jamih 7/1, 14/1, creditable fifth of 11 in handicap at Catterick (1½m) on reappearance 16 days ago, fading late on as though possibly just needing the outing. Should be spot on now. Three wins (good to firm) in 34-race career; this month's reappearance was satisfactory. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (33/1 +0%) Crossbeau |
33/1(+0%) | (9) Crossbeau 33/1, Poor form for Les Eyre last year, including in 2 handicaps. Not easy to make a case for on return for new trainer. Low-level form, including in two handicaps; not seen since last July and has left Les Eyre. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (4.5/1 +25%) Bit Of A Quirke |
4.5/1(+25%) | (3) Bit Of A Quirke 4.5/1, Six-time course winner. 8/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Ripon 19 days ago. Back up in trip. Much respected back at his favoured venue. Front-running veteran; 6-24 at Beverley, plus place returns; seen more often over 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (8.5/1 -6%) Tiberio Force |
8.5/1(-6%) | (5) Tiberio Force 8.5/1, Seventh of 10 in handicap (9/2) at Catterick (1½m) 16 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Needs a couple of these to falter. The headgear returns today for the first time this season, making him one to note. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (5.5/1 -38%) Chief Craftsman |
5.5/1(-38%) | (8) Chief Craftsman 5.5/1, 18 starts since sole win in 2020 but he did shape well when third of 12 in handicap at Carlisle (11f, good) 9 days ago, meeting trouble on a couple of occasions. Shortlist material. Sole win in 2020 but he went close with a strong finish at Carlisle (1m3f) nine days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (80/1 -142%) Coriano Ridge |
80/1(-142%) | (6) Coriano Ridge 80/1, Thrice-raced maiden on Flat. Ninth of 12 in novice at Southwell (11f, 250/1). Off 103 days. Makes handicap debut. Improvement will be needed. Low-level form in two bumpers and three runs under Flat rules; first step into handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Cloudy Rose was a game winner at Brighton last time and warrants respect off a 3lb higher mark, with Oisin Murphy an eye-catching jockey booking. Six-time course scorer Bit Of A Quirke has been knocking on the door and should make his presence felt, but CHIEF CRAFTSMAN lines up off the same mark as when a close-up third at Carlisle recently and he shades the verdict.
Although a 1-28 career record is hardly compelling CHIEF CRAFTSMAN did shape well when third at Carlisle last week and is worth a chance to confirm that promise. Course specialist Bit of A Quirke is an obvious threat, while Cloudy Rose is also respected on the back of a last-time-out Brighton success.
Bit Of A Quirke has six Beverley wins. Others have each-way claims but another angle is the return of cheekpieces on TIBERIO FORCE.

9/1(+10%) | (5) Hot Team 9/1, C&D winner. 22/1, last of 6 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) 23 days ago. Won this race in 2021; down the weights and showing enough not to be dismissed. |

2nd (2) (1.38/1 -15%) Breguet Boy |
1.38/1(-15%) | (2) Breguet Boy 1.38/1, Course winner. 2 wins from 6 runs this year. 7/5, won 8-runner handicap at Musselburgh (9f, good) 16 days ago, finding extra. Has to be taken very seriously from 4 lb higher. Resurgent with two wins this year and his 2021 form was a fair bit better still. |

2.75/1(+17%) | (1) Iron Sheriff 2.75/1, 5/1, won 9-runner handicap at Redcar (10f, good to firm) 2 days ago. Thriving and good shout again under penalty. 4-47 overall but in good form, including with a 1m2f win at Redcar on Monday. |

4th (6) (7.5/1 +17%) Samurai Sneddz |
7.5/1(+17%) | (6) Samurai Sneddz 7.5/1, Temperamental sort. Tenth of 12 in handicap (16/1) at Southwell (11.1f). Off 131 days. Cheekpieces back on. Must improve. Off since January but sole win came over 1m1f in May 2022 after same break off 6lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (6/1 +25%) Cosa Sara |
6/1(+25%) | (3) Cosa Sara 6/1, Course winner. Latest win at Ayr in May. Seventh of 10 in handicap (4/1) at Musselburgh (9f, good) 16 days ago, slowly away and short of room. Can bounce back. Did not get run of the race on latest outing and remains in the picture. |

6th (4) (12/1 -9%) Spanish Hustle |
12/1(-9%) | (4) Spanish Hustle 12/1, Temperamental sort. 16/1 and tongue strap on for first time, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (15.6f, soft) 148 days ago. Off 148 days ahead of Flat return having had a breathing op. Had a disappointing 2022 for two yards; has had wind surgery since last seen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (66/1 -200%) Mr Gambino |
66/1(-200%) | (7) Mr Gambino 66/1, 7/2, last of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 32 days ago, worst of draw. Blinkers back on. 0-15; only two AW results (first two starts this year) give him any chance on form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
BREGUET BOY has held his form since joining Keith Dalgleish at the start of March and is key player as he chases a third victory on just his sixth start for the yard. The gelding was better than the face value of his Musselburgh success 16 days ago and a 4lb higher mark is hardly restrictive in this sort of company. Cosa Sara is another on a workable rating who has to feared, while Hot Team, who won this race in 2021, can get competitive off 3lb lower today.
IRON SHERIFF is thriving and is just preferred to Musselburgh-winner Breguet Boy, the pair of them likely to dominate the market. Cosa Sara had excuses last time and could bounce back.
It may well rest between this month's winners BREGUET BOY and Iron Sheriff, with Samurai Sneddz feared most among the rest.

1st (6) (6.5/1 -18%) As Tears Go By |
6.5/1(-18%) | (6) As Tears Go By 6.5/1, Career best when winning 14-runner handicap hurdle (16/1) at Clonmel (16.2f, soft) 20 days ago, keeping on gamely. Yard in good form. May have more to offer yet. Recent Clonmel winner a progressive 5yo could play a major role here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (5/1 +9%) I A Connect |
5/1(+9%) | (2) I A Connect 5/1, Useful hurdler. Running creditably when unseated rider in minor event hurdle at Punchestown (19.8f, good to soft, 11/1). Off 13 months. Market check advised on return. Returns from 13 months' absence but has run well fresh and ground to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 +33%) Cask Mate |
4/1(+33%) | (1) Cask Mate 4/1, Useful hurdler. Unseated rider in handicap hurdle at Killarney (17f, good to soft, 25/1) 17 days ago. Others more persuasive. Veteran shaped promisingly at Killarney before unseating; ground plenty quick enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (2.25/1 +10%) Ifiwerearichman |
2.25/1(+10%) | (5) Ifiwerearichman 2.25/1, Fairly useful hurdler who posted creditable sixth of 25 on handicap debut at Punchestown (16.2f, good to soft) 34 days ago, running on. Likely contender. Not one to rule out but may want easier ground to be seen to best effect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (2.75/1 +21%) One Last Tango |
2.75/1(+21%) | (3) One Last Tango 2.75/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Course winner (16.5f) in October and improved on that when placed next 2 starts. Latest run can be excused (met trouble at crucial time) and must enter calculations. Winner here last season and remains of interest depite below-par recent run. |

6th (4) (11/1 -38%) All Those Years |
11/1(-38%) | (4) All Those Years 11/1, Fairly useful chaser. Latest win in chase at Limerick in March. 9/1, ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (17f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Others preferred. Recent return to hurdling not that encouraging; plenty more needed and may want it softer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (100/1 -100%) Dark Voyager |
100/1(-100%) | (7) Dark Voyager 100/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, first run since leaving W. P. Mullins when fourth of 5 in minor event hurdle at Punchestown (18f, good, 125/1). Off 7 months. Work to do. Ex Willie Mullins-trained 6yo out of form and of limited appeal despite reduced mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CASK MATE was unlucky to unseat his rider just after the penultimate flight at Killarney earlier this month and may now give weight away all round. The Noel Meade-trained gelding would probably have struggled against impressive winner Mighty Tom but was certainly running a big race in that valuable handicap and has less on his plate here. One Last Tango gained the latest of his three career wins at this venue last autumn and was competing in deeper waters last time at the Punchestown Festival. I A Connect has been absent for over a year but may still prove the pick of Gordon Elliott's pair, while Ifiwerearichman has a chance if sharpening up his jumping.
Preference is for IFIWEREARICHMAN, who acquitted himself in a competitive Punchestown handicap last time and remains low mileage. As Tears Go By and One Last Tango rate the principal dangers.
It may pay to side with recent Clonmel winner AS TEARS GO BY (nap) who probably has more improvement in him than most of these

1st (2) (1/1 +64%) Nickelsonthedime |
1/1(+64%) | (2) Nickelsonthedime 1/1, Opened his account in a course handicap last May. Arrives on the back of 2 good placed efforts this spring (beaten only a head here latterly) and looks capable of cashing in off his current mark. Just 1-22 over hurdles but went very close over 3m1f here this month; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 +56%) Premier D'troice |
4/1(+56%) | (3) Premier D'troice 4/1, Won over fences at Uttoxeter last summer. Creditable second on a rare hurdle start in April but well held back over fences twice since. Needs a return to the smaller obstacles to spark him back to life. Placed in two chases and a hurdle towards end of last season; lacklustre on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (8.5/1 +6%) Top Man |
8.5/1(+6%) | (5) Top Man 8.5/1, Readily capitalised on a reduced mark at Plumpton (25f) in November. Also a good third at Ludlow the following week but off since a lesser run back at Plumpton at the beginning of January. Won off this mark in 2021 but entitled to need this first run for 514 days. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (12/1 +64%) Stay Out Of Court |
12/1(+64%) | (6) Stay Out Of Court 12/1, Multiple point winner but his form under Rules is poor and he makes little appeal. Plugged on for modest third in marathon chase in January; first hurdle run since 2021. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (3.5/1 -75%) Manintheshadows |
3.5/1(-75%) | (1) Manintheshadows 3.5/1, Winner of his last 3 completed starts over hurdles, the latest a 25.5f Hereford handicap in October. Going well in a close second when fell 3 out over fences at Huntingdon in January. Given a break ahead of return to hurdles. Likely to go well. Triple hurdle winner in 2022; off since falling in a chase in January but still considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Manintheshadows is a prime candidate to cut out the running and looks likely to go well if his jumping holds together, while Sandalwood can also be fancied to be heavily involved early on and is very capable of a bold show at this level. However, a good tempo could just tee things up nicely for NICKELSONTHEDIME, who won over 3m1f here around this time last year and is a must for serious consideration off the same mark today.
NICKELSONTHEDIME won off this mark here last spring under Joshua Newman and the pair can repeat the feat. Manintheshadows and Sandalwood are likely to give him most to think about.
He doesn't win as often as he perhaps should but NICKELSONTHEDIME runs this track very well and went close here 18 days ago.

1st (6) (6/1 -20%) Appreciate |
6/1(-20%) | (6) Appreciate 6/1, Rattled off a quick-fire 4-timer over hurdles last spring/summer and added to his tally at Newton Abbot (16.7f, good to soft) in September. Shaped as if better for the run when mid-field at Huntingdon (19.6f, good to firm) 8 days ago so he's not out of things. Strike-rate of 5-14 over hurdles; fair run after a break last week; each-way contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (8.5/1 +6%) Jeepydoff Meel |
8.5/1(+6%) | (1) Jeepydoff Meel 8.5/1, Failed to kick on from a few third placed efforts over the winter, never better than mid-field sporting first-time cheekpieces at Killarney (20f, good) earlier this month. Has since left Gordon Elliott (£16,000) and interesting to see if any market support arrives. Ex-Gordon Ellliott; placed in two 2m4f maiden hurdles; down in trip on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (10/1 -67%) Yukon |
10/1(-67%) | (3) Yukon 10/1, Fair maiden handicapper on Flat for David O'Meara made light of a 14-month absence to make a winning yard/hurdles debut at Sedgefield in October. Ran to similar level when in frame on both subsequent starts and he's one to look out for on return/handicap debut in this sphere. Sedgefield winner on debut; fair efforts since; improvement likely now going handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (16/1 -60%) Cuzco Du Mathan |
16/1(-60%) | (7) Cuzco Du Mathan 16/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser in France but hasn't shown much in a handful of maiden hurdles for present yard, latest effort just 4 days ago. Now tried in cheekpieces and ridden by inexperienced rider for his handicap debut. Looks the least fancied of the Jimmy Moffatt trio; needs to improve for new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (2.2/1 +76%) Lihyan |
2.2/1(+76%) | (5) Lihyan 2.2/1, Comfortable winner of Cork maiden hurdle (17f) last summer but still to reproduce his Irish form for current yard, looking a tricky customer when tailed off at Perth (20.2f, good to soft) last month. Hood applied and it's too soon to be writing him off. Ex-Irish winner of a maiden hurdle; not so good for this yard; hood tried; bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (3.2/1 +29%) Battle Of Toro |
3.2/1(+29%) | (4) Battle Of Toro 3.2/1, Useful on Flat in France earlier in career and he made it third time lucky over hurdles when bolting up in a C&D novice at this meeting 12 months ago. Continued in good nick until losing his action at Wetherby 6 months ago and presumably he's been saved for this. Two best runs have been over C&D and although lacking a recent run is one with a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (4.5/1 -157%) Elham Valley |
4.5/1(-157%) | (2) Elham Valley 4.5/1, Bagged handicaps at Warwick and Newton Abbot last year. Returned to form following a string of below par performances when runner-up off this mark at Kempton and backed that up when filling the same spot at Southwell (15.8f, good) just over 2 weeks ago. In the mix. In good form at present and although not the best of strike-rates is an obvious contender. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ELHAM VALLEY arrives on the back of two runner-up efforts at Southwell and Kempton and the six-year-old gelding looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to go one place better. The James Moffatt yard always has to be respected at this venue, with C&D winner Battle Of Toro appearing the chief threat judged on jockey bookings. His stablemate Yukon likely has more to offer in this sphere now entering handicaps and shouldn't be underestimated.
BATTLE OF TORO was a wide-margin winner on this card 12 months ago and with his Wetherby effort back in November easy to put a line through (lost his action), Jimmy Moffatt's 7-y-o gets the verdict to double his tally in this sphere. Elham Valley has hit the crossbar on his last couple of starts and he may have to settle for silver once again, with the selection's stablemate Yukon rounding off the shortlist.
Course winner BATTLE OF TORO is taken to beat the in-form Elham Valley and prolific winner Appreciate.

3rd (1) (10/1 -186%) Chapel Street |
10/1(-186%) | (1) Chapel Street 10/1, One win from 2 runs last season. 4/1, career best when winning 14-runner handicap hurdle at this course (20.4f, good to soft), driven out. Off 11 months but definite player if ready to go. Absent since a course win over a longer trip almost a year ago, seems trip-versatile. |

8th (13) (16/1 +43%) Katzoff |
16/1(+43%) | (13) Katzoff 16/1, Pulled up in handicap hurdle at Thurles (16.4f, heavy, 28/1) 79 days ago, losing touch 3 out. Beaten favourite on final 2022 start, poor form in two Thurles races during the winter. |

9th (9) (11/1 +50%) The Cooleen |
11/1(+50%) | (9) The Cooleen 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 66/1, twelfth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Tipperary (16f, good) 13 days ago, reported suffering a breathing problem. Reported to have made a noise when in rear on handicap debut, 66-1 on that occasion. |

|F| (4) (8/1 +76%) Portarlington |

Makes handicap hurdle debut. Ordinary form over hurdles and on the Flat, does not appeal as being well handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (16/1 +43%) Image Du Large |
16/1(+43%) | (7) Image Du Large 16/1, Seventh of 19 in novice hurdle at Tipperary (15.8f, good to soft, 250/1) 27 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. One good run over fences in France, her Irish hurdles form does not amount to much. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (20/1 +50%) Cathys Quest |
20/1(+50%) | (10) Cathys Quest 20/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Ninth of 15 in novice hurdle (300/1) at Thurles (15.9f, good to soft). Off 6 months. Makes handicap hurdle debut. No real sign of ability in maidens but in good hands and boasts a decent pedigree. |

7/1(+61%) | (12) Wee Jerry 7/1, Sixth of 7 in minor event hurdle at Down Royal (24f, good to soft, 50/1) 30 days ago. Back down in trip. Booking of Harvey a plus. Blinkers on 1st time. Struggled over 3m at Down Royal a month ago, modest form, stable had a winner last week. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SEARCH FOR A MYTH was a frustrating sort to follow last year and hopefully can get a winning turn reappearing after a near eight-month break. The selection filled the runner-up spot three times and was a shade unlucky when beaten a neck by Kellie's Dream here last autumn. Chapel Street showed promise over a variety of trips last year before scoring in good style over 2m4f at this venue last June. He's obviously not the easiest to train and is without a run since but a 7lb rise means he's still qualified to run in this lowly grade. Anstand only weakened on the run-in at Clonmel last time and now races on good ground for the first time, while Warm In Gorey and Image Du Large are others to consider.
SEARCH FOR A MYTH was a bit disappointing switched to fences when last seen in October but she'd been knocking on the door over timber prior to that so she could be the answer on return. Chapel Street also reappears following an absence and is a threat, along with Anstand and Grizabella.
Providing she is near peak form on her first run after a winter break SEARCH FOR A MYTH should be able to exploit this opportunity.

1.1/1(+41%) | (2) Allihies 1.1/1, Fairly useful winner at 7f on Flat in Ireland and best effort for Dan Skelton when second of 7 over C&D a week ago. Left on the same mark so plenty to recommend. Clear second to bang-in-form rival over C&D on handicap debut a week ago; same mark today. |

3/1(-60%) | (3) Choirmaster 3/1, Fairly useful on Flat and a wind op/tongue tie helped his finishing effort when second of 7 on handicap debut at Huntingdon 3 weeks ago. Big player if building on that. Clear second on recent handicap hurdle debut and will be suited by today's fast ground. |

3rd (1) (1.75/1 +7%) Double Click |
1.75/1(+7%) | (1) Double Click 1.75/1, Unplaced all 3 starts in Irish points but going the right way in as many outings under Rules, supplementing his Wincanton maiden success on handicap debut at Ffos Las 3 weeks ago. 5 lb rise shouldn't prevent a bold hat-trick bid but he wouldn't want this to get tactical. Bids for hat-trick after two wins on slower ground this spring (maiden/handicap). |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having won a maiden hurdle and then a 0-100 handicap in his last two starts, former point-to-pointer DOUBLE CLICK has adapted well to racing under NH rules and is fancied to extend his winning sequence to three on the bounce. A 5lb higher mark doesn't appear too troublesome in a small field such as this and Jamie Snowden's gelding is difficult to oppose. Choirmaster ran well here last week, on his first start back after a wind operation, and might pose the selection more problems than Allihies on these terms.
This could get tactical, with CHOIRMASTER, who is well handicapped in this sphere based on his Flat form, marginally preferred to Allihies and Double Click in a race in which it's easy to be positive about all 3.
All three of these have appealing profiles but the one best equipped to cope with the forecast fast ground is probably CHOIRMASTER.

1st (2) (3/1 +0%) Special Rate |
3/1(+0%) | (2) Special Rate 3/1, Showed more than he had in bumpers switched to hurdling when second in 14-runner novice at Kelso (18.1f) last month. Didn't need to replicate that form to go one place better at Newcastle a fortnight ago and another bold bid is assured. In good form at present, getting off the mark at Newcastle last time; should go well again. |

2nd (1) (0.57/1 +37%) Idealdes Villerets |
0.57/1(+37%) | (1) Idealdes Villerets 0.57/1, Ex-French bumper winner who has made a solid start to his hurdling career, placed with 3 times for Mel Rowley prior to landing the odds for new yard at Worcester 3 weeks ago (on the back of breathing surgery). Just about the one to beat under a penalty. Confirmed previous promise to land odds of 4-9 at Worcester last time; obvious contender. |

3rd (7) (10/1 +0%) City Vaults |
10/1(+0%) | (7) City Vaults 10/1, Fair on Flat (stays 2m), unsuited by conditions final start in 2022: sold from David O'Meara £24,000 later in October. Hurdles bow. Fair flat performer; an interesting newcomer to jumping for a yard that does well here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (150/1 -200%) Confelicity |
150/1(-200%) | (8) Confelicity 150/1, Closely related to fairly useful hurdler/fair chaser Invicta Lake (2¼m-25f winner), and half-sister to 2 winners, including useful bumper winner Colonel Mortimer. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler (winner up to 3m) Material World. Unplaced all 3 starts in Irish points (latest May 14). Bought cheaply after showing only modest form in three Irish points; others stronger. |

5th (5) (6.5/1 -30%) Grand Scheme |
6.5/1(-30%) | (5) Grand Scheme 6.5/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 1¾m), possibly amiss final start in 2022. Sold from Richard Hannon 28,000 gns in October and possesses the raw ability to be a factor if taking to hurdling. Tongue tied. Useful Flat handicapper at up to 1m6f; cost 28,000gns in October; interesting debutant. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (80/1 -300%) Acoustic |
80/1(-300%) | (6) Acoustic 80/1, Modest maiden on Flat for Richard Fahey but showed more than he did on hurdles debut at Hexham at beginning of this month, bad mistake at the last. Modest Flat performer at up to 1m2f for Richard Fahey; well beaten on both hurdle starts. |

|F| (4) (14/1 +44%) Foxwood |
14/1(+44%) | (4) Foxwood 14/1, Found only one too good in a Catterick bumper in February but he dropped away pretty tamely at Carlisle a month later. Now goes hurdling. Poor run on heavy last time but fair run on bumper debut; quite interesting on jumps debut. |

|PU| (3) (250/1 -150%) Captain Nelson |
250/1(-150%) | (3) Captain Nelson 250/1, Little worthwhile form and jumping is a major issue. Tongue tie on first time. Has a tongue tie on for first time but significant improvement needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
IDEALDES VILLERETS made the perfect stable debut at Worcester earlier in the month and he's hard to oppose on the ratings in this contest. Special Rate has 11lb to find with the selection and races off equal terms, yet he appears the only conceivable threat of those who have raced over jumps. Grand Scheme was a useful stayer on the Flat and is the potential fly in the ointment now tackling hurdles for the first time, so Sam England's charge is feared most.
There should be more to come from IDEALDES VILLERETS for Donald McCain so he's fancied to see off the other penalised runner, Special Rate. Of the rest, Grand Scheme's Flat ability brings him into the equation now hurdling for new connections.
A chance is taken on jumps newcomer CITY VAULTS to beat the penalised pair of Idealdes Villerets and Special Rate.

7/1(-100%) | (1) Littel Flour 7/1, 20/1, third of 13 in handicap hurdle at Tipperary (16f, good) 13 days ago. Has good chance on pick of form. Clear chance following Tipperary third though not sure to uphold form with Away To Milan. |

8th (14) (25/1 +0%) Monoxide |
25/1(+0%) | (14) Monoxide 25/1, Remains a maiden after 21 NH runs. Respectable fifth of 12 in handicap chase at Downpatrick (19.2f, good to soft, 25/1) 26 days ago, doing too much too soon. Switches from chase to hurdles. Best effort last season was over fences, two most recent chase runs none too encouraging. |

9th (9) (6/1 +33%) Flashthelights |
6/1(+33%) | (9) Flashthelights 6/1, 11/1, creditable seventh of 18 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (16.8f, good to soft) 30 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Showed fair form towards the end of the season before last, recent form is unconvincing. |

There shouldn't be much between LITTEL FLOUR and Away To Milan judged on running behind Hi Ski at Tipperary just under a fortnight ago. The latter lost any chance with a mistake at the last and previously put in a solid effort at Cork but doesn't have the benefit of Paddy O'Hanlon's 5lb claim here. The selection showed promise in maidens last autumn including when third to Deeply Superficial at Galway and seemed to settle better last time in a hood. Staging Post outran odds of 33/1 when making the frame behind Herculaneum at Naas and remains on the same mark, while Flashthelights and Be My Hero are others for the shortlist.
LITTEL FLOUR took a big step back in the right direction when third at Tipperary a couple of weeks ago and is given a chance to build on that for the Declan Queally team. The lightly-raced Away To Milan has made a decent start to his handicap career and is second choice ahead of Gordon Elliott's Be My Hero.
Course maiden hurdle winner STAGING POST looks capable of handicap success at this level judged on a Naas fourth two months ago

1st (3) (1.25/1 +38%) Magistrato |
1.25/1(+38%) | (3) Magistrato 1.25/1, Fair winner at 16f over hurdles back in 2021 but not scored since and looks one to treat with caution after his recent Huntingdon debut in this sphere (very reluctant at start and tailed off most of way). Pulled up in both hurdle races this year and almost refused to race on chasing debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (2.75/1 -38%) Stepney Causeway |
2.75/1(-38%) | (1) Stepney Causeway 2.75/1, Useful hurdles winner for Dan Skelton. Yet to get his head in front in this sphere but he did score on the level at Saint Moritz for present yard in February before solid second back over fences at Newbury (16.4f). Excuses last time (short of room when making bad mistake) and holds strong claims. Pulled up last time and now 0-10 over fences but Newbury second in March was a fair effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (1.75/1 -7%) Guinness Affair |
1.75/1(-7%) | (2) Guinness Affair 1.75/1, Three-time winner on good ground over hurdles in summer of 2021. Not seen for 20 months but sure to have been well schooled for his chasing bow and will be interesting to see how he fares in the market. Had wind operation. Bumper and dual hurdle winner in 2021; makes chasing debut after a long absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
All three of these have something to prove and, given that Stepney Causeway was well behind when he was pulled up at Plumpton last month, and Guinness Affair hasn't been seen in action for 601 days, it might be worth siding with MAGISTRATO now he's had the benefit of a spin over fences. Admittedly, he was well held on his chasing debut at Huntingdon eight days ago, but Paul Nicholls knows the time of day with a potential improver and this could be a good bit of placement for a confidence booster.
STEPNEY CAUSEWAY looks the safest option in a tricky race to get a handle on. Guinness Affair may provide the chief threat.
Tentative preference is for GUINNESS AFFAIR, who makes his chasing debut after a 601-day absence but will be suited by today's ground.

1st (3) (12/1 -33%) Calevade |
12/1(-33%) | (3) Calevade 12/1, Fair on Flat in 2020. Also shaped well on hurdle debut in January of that year but he hasn't shown much in 4 outings since returning from a long absence, latest on the level last month. Made fairly encouraging handicap hurdle debut but well beaten on the Flat since. |

2nd (10) (2.25/1 +36%) Clean Getaway |
2.25/1(+36%) | (10) Clean Getaway 2.25/1, Maiden who ran one of his better races when fourth in 12-runner Market Rasen handicap (16.5f) 3 weeks ago, though not for the first time promising more than he delivered. Still, he's not out of things dropped in grade with cheekpieces enlisted. 0-11 over hurdles but ran okay at Market Rasen this month; now sports cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (5.5/1 +27%) Edinburgh Rock |
5.5/1(+27%) | (9) Edinburgh Rock 5.5/1, Fair maiden on the Flat for Ralph Beckett (stays 1½m) but offered little in trio of juvenile hurdles upon joining present stable over the winter. Did fare creditably back on the Flat at Wolverhampton recently and it does at least remain early days in this sphere. Visored now. Showed only minor promise in juvenile hurdles in winter but ran okay on Flat this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (28/1 -133%) Princess Poppy |
28/1(-133%) | (4) Princess Poppy 28/1, No impact in mares' maiden hurdles and easy to back, similarly offered little on handicap debut at Market Rasen (16.5f) 19 days ago. Cheekpieces reached for now dropped in grade. Unexposed after only four hurdle runs but was tailed off on handicap debut; headgear added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (8.5/1 +29%) Mcpherson |
8.5/1(+29%) | (8) Mcpherson 8.5/1, Fairly useful maiden on Flat in Ireland. Showed a bit more than previously over hurdles when third of 9 on handicap debut at Ludlow last May, but not built on that subsequently, well held at Uttoxeter 25 days ago. Cheekpieces go on now. Down the field on both starts this spring; needs a boost from the cheekpieces here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (7.5/1 +46%) Ingleby Mackenzie |
7.5/1(+46%) | (7) Ingleby Mackenzie 7.5/1, Fair handicap chaser in Ireland for Henry de Bromhead but yet to threaten for new yard, weakening 3 out when well held at Newcastle (16.8f) earlier this month. Has plummeted down the weights since the autumn and needs to turn a corner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 +21%) Bugle Major |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Bugle Major 11/1, Fair Flat winner who offered a bit to work on sent hurdling when third in a 2m Catterick maiden in February. Not yet built on that in 3 subsequent outings, proving too free when eighth in 14-runner Plumpton handicap (15.9f) 17 days ago. Still, not dismissed down in class. Brushed aside fairly easily after leading on this month's handicap hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (10/1 -186%) Hey Bob |
10/1(-186%) | (2) Hey Bob 10/1, Veteran who won 3 on the bounce last spring/summer, latterly this race on debut for present stable. Well below form next 3 starts but he did at least take a step back in the right direction back from 8 months off when second in a Fakenham seller 3 weeks ago. Possibilities. Won this race a year ago and makes more appeal than most of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (9/1 +18%) Diamant Sur Canape |
9/1(+18%) | (11) Diamant Sur Canape 9/1, Well held in bumper and little to shout about in 6 starts in this sphere, although he was a bit better than the result when a well-held seventh of 12 on his recent 21f Kelso handicap debut. Down in trip/grade now. Not beaten that far on recent handicap debut; drops back in trip here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (11/1 -57%) True Romance |
11/1(-57%) | (1) True Romance 11/1, Justified market support when adding to his tally on the Flat at Wolverhampton (14f) in December. Underwhelming efforts next 2 starts but shaped as if he'd come on for first start for 4 months at Fakenham (2m) 22 days ago. Not out of things. Well handicapped on some of last season's form but well beaten in this grade this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 +20%) Charlie's Rockstar |
20/1(+20%) | (5) Charlie's Rockstar 20/1, Runner-up in Irish points but hasn't offered much under Rules, pulled up having been ridden with more restraint that usual (following wind op) at Musselburgh (19.8f) in February. Tough to assess back from a break. This return to good ground ought to suit but he's yet to be placed after eight hurdle runs. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HEY BOB may need to improve on his recent runner-up effort at Fakenham, nevertheless, he is now 1lb lower than his triumph in this race last year and the booking of Brian Hughes suggests a big run is anticipated. Clean Getaway enjoys a further 2lb drop in the ratings and first-time cheekpieces may see the son of Getaway proving more competitive, while connections of Edinburgh Rock reach for a visor and he could post an improved bid on this handicap bow.
HEY BOB ended last term below his best but did take a step firmly in the right direction when beaten only by a subsequent winner in a selling handicap at Fakenham 3 weeks ago and, partnered by Brian Hughes, he can make a bold bid to supplement his victory in this corresponding race 12 months ago. Clean Getaway hasn't often convinced with his finishing effort but he's a player down in grade nevertheless. True Romance and Edinburgh Rock are others worth a look.

First run for yard after leaving W. P. Mullins. Well worth a look for new yard. Bumper winner and placed all three starts over hurdles for Willie Mullins, stable debut. |

125/1(-150%) | (2) Bob The Builder 125/1, Well held in bumper/maiden hurdles (for Sean Thomas Doyle). Fourth sole start in points (Oct 2022). Cheekpieces on. Modest form in maiden hurdles for his previous trainer, cheekpieces on for stable debut. |

2.25/1(+81%) | (1) Attaboyarchie 2.25/1, Unseated rider in novice hurdle at Downpatrick (21.8f, good to soft, 12/1) 26 days ago. Work to do. Interesting on his second to the smart Good Land in a bumper at this venue last October. |

5th (7) (4.5/1 -80%) Viceregent |
4.5/1(-80%) | (7) Viceregent 4.5/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Creditable sixth of 16 in handicap hurdle (13/2) at Killarney (20f, good) 16 days ago. Has to be taken seriously. 0-12 over hurdles, placed five times, frustrating and unreliable but unwise to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (14/1 -40%) Gino Drummer Boy |
14/1(-40%) | (4) Gino Drummer Boy 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 50/1, excellent fifth of 15 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (19.1f, soft) on return 20 days ago, not knocked about. Yard in good form. Should improve. Shaped quite well after a lengthy absence when fifth at Clonmel recently, needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (3/1 -20%) Conyers Hill |
3/1(-20%) | (3) Conyers Hill 3/1, Promising individual. Very good second of 15 in novice hurdle at Ballinrobe (16.6f, good to soft, 5/2) 29 days ago. Up in trip which will suit and he merits consideration. Placed on all three starts since joining this stable, should be in the mix again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (10/1 +29%) Phils Choice |
10/1(+29%) | (9) Phils Choice 10/1, Fair hurdler. 10/3, third of 12 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.2f, soft) 20 days ago. Up in trip. Useful bumper form, third over hurdles at Clonmel last time, this is more competitive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Conyers Hill and High City Roller have both been placed on their last three starts and are sure to prove popular with punters. The former will have race fitness on his side and should appreciate the step-up in trip. High City Roller makes his debut for Liz Doyle, having been previously trained by Willie Mullins. Sent off the clear market leader at 4/11, he was beaten into third on his most recent outing at Navan in September. Phils Choice, Viceregent and Hartur D'arc are other leading contenders, but for a selection it might be worth taking a chance on ATTABOYARCHIE. He was an excellent second to Good Land on his only previous visit to Bettyville, finishing ahead of subsequent winners Landrake and Diamboy Des Carres. His form of late has been disappointing, but in a contest of this quality he should be able to make an impact.
CONYERS HILL will be suited by this longer trip and can strike after another good run at Ballinrobe. Viceregent and Gino Drummer Boy are a couple of the dangers.
The best recent form belongs to CONYERS HILL who may get a winning turn after being placed on all three starts for this stable

0.62/1(+44%) | (1) Everyonesgame 0.62/1, Fairly useful bumper winner who opened his account over hurdles in a novice at Hereford last month. Undone by a penalty in a stronger race at Worcester (20f, soft) subsequently, but this looks a good opportunity to regain the winning thread. Beaten odds-on favourite last time but leading contender if judged on earlier Hereford win. |

2nd (4) (2.5/1 -100%) Global Famenglory |
2.5/1(-100%) | (4) Global Famenglory 2.5/1, Fair hurdler who again ran well to hit the frame for third consecutive time this spring when third at this track (25f) earlier this month. In control before falling at the last at Stratford (22f, good) 10 days ago and fancied to make amends assuming she's none the worse. GLOBAL FAMENGLORY was two lengths ahead when a last-flight faller at Stratford 10 days ago and that form looks pretty strong, with the eventual winner subsequently following up. Top conditional jockey Tristan Durrell takes a handy 5lb off her back this evening and she can gain some quick compensation. The 120-rated Everyonesgame may interest forecast punters, with dual point-to-point winner Craven Bay looking next best.
A potential match between GLOBAL FAMENGLORY and Everyonesgame, the former taken to make amends for a last flight fall when in control at Stratford 10 days ago with cheekpieces given another whirl. Charlie Longsdon's charge is sure to offer plenty of resistance though, and he can chase the selection home ahead of Henry Oliver's winning pointer Jessmae.
He was turned over at short odds last time but EVERYONESGAME looks the one to beat if judged on his easy win two starts ago.

2.75/1(+21%) | (4) Line Of Descent 2.75/1, Has taken well to fences, placed on first 5 starts before coming good at Stratford (19.5f) last month. Likely to give another good account. Consistent since switched to fences, and opened his account at Stratford last month. |

2nd (11) (18/1 -29%) Kicksaftersix |
18/1(-29%) | (11) Kicksaftersix 18/1, Fair form in bumpers for Warren Greatrex but little form over jumps, including in handicap chases last twice. Maiden; didn't run badly at Newcastle this month but is 13lb out of the weights here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (3/1 +14%) We'll Go Again |
3/1(+14%) | (5) We'll Go Again 3/1, Made winning start for this yard in maiden hurdle at Market Rasen last summer. Rather in and out over hurdles since but he shaped well when second on chase debut at Market Rasen in April and has performed respectably on the Flat since. Open to improvement over fences. No threat to winner when second on chase debut but still well handicapped on hurdle form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 +13%) Ardera Cross |
14/1(+13%) | (3) Ardera Cross 14/1, Raced mostly at Ayr in recent times, winning another couple of handicap chases in February, but his last 2 runs suggest he may have lost his form for the time being. Dual C&D winner but well beaten here on Saturday and seems best on slow ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (7.5/1 -7%) Check My Pulse |
7.5/1(-7%) | (6) Check My Pulse 7.5/1, Finally got off the mark over fences in 7-runner handicap chase at Carlisle (2m) in October. Off 6 months, shaped as if in form when never-nearer sixth of 12 at Newcastle (2m) 15 days ago. Form of Carlisle win in October reads well; made satisfactory reappearance this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/1 -38%) Restandbethankful |
9/1(-38%) | (2) Restandbethankful 9/1, Scored 3 times over timber for Olly Murphy in 2021. Still a maiden after 6 attempts over fences but he hasn't been with this yard for long and has had excuses over hurdles on his last 2 outings. Hasn't really fired for new stable this year, the last twice over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (28/1 -211%) Living's Boy An Co |
28/1(-211%) | (8) Living's Boy An Co 28/1, Off the mark in emphatic fashion at Market Rasen (19f) in October but has unseated in 2 subsequent outings 6 months apart. Usual cheekpieces which were missing last time are back on now. Wide-margin winner in the autumn but might find others here better handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (4/1 -14%) Sword Of Fate |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Sword Of Fate 4/1, Tends to go well at this time of year and he's duly bounced back to form to win at Wetherby and finish runner-up twice at Perth in recent weeks. This former C&D winner is likely to be in the thick of things again. Followed last month's Wetherby win with two Perth seconds; also suited by this C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 +0%) Secrets De Famille |
50/1(+0%) | (9) Secrets De Famille 50/1, Only poor form over hurdles in Ireland and little to get excited about in 3 runs for this yard at the start of the spring. Switches to fences for the first time on the back of wind surgery. Hasn't shown a great deal on her three hurdling starts for Neil Mechie; chase debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (11/1 +45%) War At Sea |
11/1(+45%) | (10) War At Sea 11/1, Modest maiden chaser who shaped as if retaining ability on last month's return from a long absence, making good headway before understandably fading. Went close over C&D in summer 2021 but made low-key reappearance last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SWORD OF FATE has proven that he still has plenty to offer with a handful of solid performances this year and having gone close off this mark at Perth 13 days ago, the Leonard Kerr-trained gelding looks capable of another bold show despite being burdened with top-weight. We'll Go Again reverts to chasing after a couple of respectable spins on the Flat and is highly respected, as is the case with Stratford winner Line Of Descent, who still has scope off just 5lb higher.
SWORD OF FATE is going through a good spell at present and might be able to get his head back in front at a venue where he's tasted success before. Line of Descent is another who arrives on the back of a string of solid efforts lately and is second choice ahead of We'll Go Again, who made an encouraging start to his chase career when runner-up at Market Rasen last month.

1st (3) (1/1 +33%) Joyeux Machin |
1/1(+33%) | (3) Joyeux Machin 1/1, Useful hurdler. Latest win in hurdle at Fairyhouse in December. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, twelfth of 18 in handicap hurdle (25/1) at Punchestown (19.1f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Can make his presence felt in these calmer waters. Up in trip. Highly tried since maiden win; first attempt at 3m here and sights lowered so respected. |

2nd (4) (1.38/1 -25%) Jungle Prose |
1.38/1(-25%) | (4) Jungle Prose 1.38/1, Useful hurdler. Creditable tenth of 17 in handicap hurdle (40/1) at Leopardstown (24f, good to soft) 116 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Yard in good form. Leading claims. Rapid improver in handicaps last season; back from a break and could make a bold bid. |

3rd (1) (5/1 +17%) Dovlator |
5/1(+17%) | (1) Dovlator 5/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 25/1, fifteenth of 20 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.4f, good to soft) 52 days ago. Steps up in trip and back on favoured ground so respected. |

4th (2) (40/1 -122%) Dragon Rock |
40/1(-122%) | (2) Dragon Rock 40/1, Twice-raced winner over hurdles. Running creditably when fell in novice hurdle (4/1) at Killarney (22.8f, good to soft). Off 9 months. First run for yard after leaving Willie Mullins. Unexposed but needs improvement. Left Willie Mullins after Killarney fall last summer; still an unknown quantity. |

|U| (5) (33/1 +67%) Ripplesinthesand |
33/1(+67%) | (5) Ripplesinthesand 33/1, Pulled up both starts in points (latest May 21). Outsider on Rules debut. Pulled up in both point-to-points, hard to see him making an immediate impact under Rules. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Gordon Elliott looks to have found a nice opportunity for JUNGLE PROSE. The eight-year-old was a revelation over the winter months, winning four in-a-row before finishing fourth when tried in Grade 2 company at Limerick. She since disappointed at the Dublin Racing Festival but in calmer waters now, a much-improved performance can be expected with Danny Gilligan taking a valuable 7lb off. Joyeux Machin looks the main danger but has been very disappointing since making the breakthrough over flights at Fairyhouse in December. Dragon Rock has switched from Willie Mullins to 'Shark' Hanlon since his last start and it'll be interesting to see how he fares. Dovlator needs to bounce back from recent efforts if he is to feature here, while Ripplesinthesand appears out of his depth.
JUNGLE PROSE developed into a useful hurdler for Gordon Elliott last winter and this looks a good chance for him to land a fifth win since joining the yard. Joyeux Machin is the obvious danger if his stamina holds now stepping up to 3m.
It could pay to side with the proven stamina of JUNGLE PROSE, who has the added advantage of Danny Gilligan's valuable claim

1st (3) (4.5/1 +55%) Hiconic |
4.5/1(+55%) | (3) Hiconic 4.5/1, Won 4 juvenile hurdles in summer 2020. Missed the following year but confirmed he still has something to offer over hurdles during the winter, fourth in 11-runner Doncaster handicap (16.6f) in December. Has eased considerably in weights if building on that back from 5 months off. Won 4 juvenile events in 2020 but yet to win a handicap; needs to improve on recent form. |

2nd (5) (4.5/1 +50%) Prime Time Lady |
4.5/1(+50%) | (5) Prime Time Lady 4.5/1, Exuberant sort who was improved when scoring twice over hurdles last May. However, pulled up on return/chase debut in January and essentially struggled on 2 of her 3 starts over hurdles since. Two wins with headgear last May; disappointing this year; headgear left off; bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (2.75/1 -22%) Pop The Champagne |
2.75/1(-22%) | (2) Pop The Champagne 2.75/1, Bumper winner who was well placed to land 4-timer in novice hurdles at around 2m last summer. Creditable run on back of an 8-month absence on the Flat at Kempton (12f) 21 days ago ought to have set her up nicely for this return to obstacles. Player. Won four on the trot last summer; fair AW run 21 days ago; has a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/1 -38%) Karannelle |
11/1(-38%) | (4) Karannelle 11/1, Enjoyed a productive spell last summer, landing back-to-back handicaps prior to a brace of runner-up efforts at Newton Abbot. Ran right up to form on return from 9 months off at Southwell 16 days ago and another bold bid looks on the cards. Dual winner on good ground last summer and consistent efforts since; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (2.5/1 -11%) Lady Reset |
2.5/1(-11%) | (1) Lady Reset 2.5/1, Likeable mare who resumed winning ways at Stratford (2m) in July and signed off last year with good second at Uttoxeter. Solid reappearance effort (on back of wind op) when fourth on Flat at Sandown (10f) 6 days ago and not out of things returned to hurdles. C&D winner; 6lb higher than last win; fourth on the Flat after a wind op last week; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (9/1 -125%) Fenney Brook |
9/1(-125%) | (6) Fenney Brook 9/1, Thrived latterly last year, forging clear to make it 2 wins from last 3 starts in mares' novice handicap at Ludlow (21.2f) in November. Career-high mark to defy on return but she remains fairly low mileage. Two wins from last 3 starts in 2022 (2m4f, 2m5f); back from a break; 2m perhaps not ideal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Lady Reset and Pop The Champagne both arrive fit following a spin on the Flat earlier this month and a win for either would come as no surprise, but FENNEY BROOK could make the most of the weight she receives. Henry Daly's mare was in cracking form towards the back end of 2022, winning two of her last three starts, and a bold bid is anticipated on her return.
POP THE CHAMPAGNE thrived over hurdles last summer, landing 4 of her 5 starts, and with a solid reappearance spin on the Flat under her belt, she is fancied to resume progress for her thriving yard. Lady Reset and Fenney Brook head up the dangers.
After her good run on the Flat following wind surgery LADY RESET (nap) is taken to beat Pop The Champagne.

1st (6) (1.25/1 +64%) Post No Bills |
1.25/1(+64%) | (6) Post No Bills 1.25/1, Point winner who has taken well to fences, runner-up on 4 of his first 5 starts before off the mark in good style at Fontwell 2 weeks ago. Should go well again despite 9 lb higher mark (2 lb out of weights). Point winner; off the mark over fences last time; now 9lb higher in a better race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (2.25/1 +18%) Grey Skies |
2.25/1(+18%) | (2) Grey Skies 2.25/1, Maiden/novice hurdle winner last season. Might have been fortunate at Sedgefield but there was nothing lucky about his follow-up win at Perth 5 weeks ago. Should make a bold bid for the hat-trick. Two wins since a wind op, the latest at Perth last month (form sound); up 5lb; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 -45%) Vintage Fizz |
4/1(-45%) | (1) Vintage Fizz 4/1, Progressed over hurdles last spring, winning a pair of handicaps at around 2½m on good to soft. Failed to kick on after but made a winning debut over fences at Hexham after 10 weeks off, albeit in a weak event. More needed up 6 lb in better race. Dual hurdle winner who won at Hexham on chase debut; up 6lb; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/1 -29%) Hidden Depths |
9/1(-29%) | (3) Hidden Depths 9/1, Multiple Flat/hurdles winner who made a winning chase debut at Kempton 30 days ago, seen to good effect (held up off strong pace). Respected. Scored in good style on chase debut last time; 6lb higher; chance although track a concern. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (18/1 +10%) Jelski |
18/1(+10%) | (4) Jelski 18/1, Won over hurdles at Haydock and Cartmel (2¾m) last year. Solid start to his chase career when second in a Cartmel novice in August but not in the same form since. Dual hurdles winner here (2m6f); not quite so good over fences; no easy task after a break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
GREY SKIES might have been fortunate to win a match race when his only rival unseated the rider after the final fence at Sedgefield on his penultimate start, but there was plenty to like about the performance he posted when he followed up at Perth last month. A 5lb rise looks fair after that comfortable success and he could be hard to beat with a similar effort. Hidden Depths and Vintage Fizz also arrive at the top of their game and look the pick of the rest.
GREY SKIES might have been fortunate at Sedgefield but there was nothing lucky about his win at Perth last month and he should make a bold bid for the hat-trick up only 5 lb. Post No Bills opened his account in impressive fashion at Fontwell so is the obvious threat, ahead of winning chase debutants Hidden Depths and Vintage Fizz.
Perth winner GREY SKIES (nap) is taken to follow up with Vintage Fizz and Hidden Depths his most likely dangers.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
It's difficult to look beyond ARCTIC AMBITION, however he is also declared for Ballinrobe on Tuesday and might not turn up here. Rated much higher over fences, the eight-year-old registered his first hurdles success on Friday and will carry a 7lb winners penalty here. Gordon Elliott trains the selection and is also represented by Townhill Penny. A daughter of the late Kalanisi, she went down by just three-parts-of-a-length at Tipperary recently and it'll come as no surprise if she manages to go a place better now, with Ben Harvey taking a valuable 5lb off. Navigator Jack was third in that Tipperary contest and he too looks to have solid claims here with Keith Donoghue aboard. A runner-up at Down Royal on her most recent start, Cocoplum is sure to have plenty of supporters, while others for the shortlist are Midnight Our Fred, course winner Gotthenod and the 13-year-old Dorans River.
Preference is for ARCTIC AMBITION, who capitalised on a lower hurdles mark under this pilot at Limerick last week and still looks feasibly treated, despite a 7 lb penalty. Townhill Penny and Navigator Jack head the list of dangers.
Yesterday's Ballinrobe winner ARCTIC AMBITION looks the one to beat, in his possible absence stablemate Townhill Penny gets the nod

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
JUNIOR MASSINI seemed to appreciate a switch to bigger obstacles when finishing a close second over 3m at this track on his latest outing. He is now rated 4lb higher for that near-miss, but the booking of Harry Cobden makes the eight-year-old of significant interest and he looks the type to progress in this sphere. The class-dropping Fortunate Fred is feared most, while Cheer's Delboy looks the pick of the remainder.
A thin handicap that should go to FORTUNATE FRED. Junior Massini is the clear pick of the remainder, who all race from out of the weights.
In a weak event MIX MASTER who has form on fast ground is taken to beat Fortunate Fred who is the only one in the handicap.

14/1(-75%) | (6) Shoal Bay 14/1, Formerly useful performer for Colin Tizzard but well below that level in 4 starts for current yard. Won a 4-runner point in March but work to do back under Rules here. Has won three chases, the latest in 2020; mainly disappointing since; others stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (5/1 +17%) Dressedforsuccess |
5/1(+17%) | (1) Dressedforsuccess 5/1, Multiple course winner for this yard (rejoined since last outing) in 2021/22. Pulled up in hunter chase at Carlisle on sole start this year but better expected back at favourite venue. Five-time course winner; pulled up in a hunter chase last time (heavy); better expected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (3.5/1 +30%) Step Back |
3.5/1(+30%) | (7) Step Back 3.5/1, Former Bet365 Gold Cup winner who posted his best effort in hunters when second at Carlisle (24.5f) in March. Below form at Aintree since but must enter calculations here. Good second at Carlisle in March, but well beaten at Aintree next time; each-way chance. |

|PU| (8) (33/1 -65%) Urbanist |
33/1(-65%) | (8) Urbanist 33/1, Off the mark in Points earlier this month but hasn't troubled the judge in 5 hunter chases thus far and makes limited appeal. Easy winner of a five-runner point last time (3m, good) but has a stiffer task here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
TIME LEADER ran with plenty of credit when fifth in the Aintree Foxhunters and subsequently backed that up with an easy success at Kelso earlier this month. This represents a fine opportunity for the nine-year-old to prove a cut above the opposition. Shoal Bay has to be of interest on his debut in this sphere, while Gaboriot appears best of the remainder.
TIME LEADER bagged his third hunter chase of the year with the minimum of fuss at Kelso 3 weeks ago and should take the beating here. Step Back and Dressedforsuccess may provide the chief threat.

FULL METAL JACKET gets the nod over Toad Hall. Out of Grade 1 winning hurdler Adriana Des Mottes, the five-year-old finished fourth on debut in a point-to-point at Turtulla, when in the care of Matthew Flynn O'Connor. He since switched to Emmet Mullins and was a fine third of 16 in a bumper at the Punchestown Festival. Toad Hall is given second preference after filling the runner-up spot on debut at Clonmel early last month. He shared that position with subsequent Punchestown winner Walk Away Harry, while Extrapolation, who was fourth, also gave the form a boost by winning at Downpatrick. Down Around has some solid form to his name and should be capable of making his presence felt, while Minella Mate, Pipers Boreen and Mousey Brown are others for the shortlist.
TOAD HALL made a bright start at Clonmel and surely has one of these in him. He gets the vote over Down Around and Full Metal Jacket.
Hard to look beyond TOAD HALL, whose debut Clonmel second has been doubly franked since

3rd (3) (2.5/1 +38%) Moon Lady |
2.5/1(+38%) | (3) Moon Lady 2.5/1, Green when eighth of 16 on Huntingdon debut (good to soft) in February. Disappointed when well held at Ludlow 3 weeks ago but worth another chance. Beaten 12l and 26l in her two bumpers; looks modest but so is this race.. |

18/1(-112%) | (4) Whitehall Flyer 18/1, Pour Moi mare. Half-sister to bumper winner Dreaming Diamond and a point winner. Dam winning pointer/placed over hurdles (stayed 2¾m). Market should guide. Half-sister to bumper winner Dreaming Diamond and point winner Another Tuco.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A weak contest in which the unraced JEUDIDEE is marginally favoured. His dam was only narrowly denied on her racecourse debut in France and, representing an in-form yard, any strength in the market should not be ignored for Kim Bailey's four-year-old. Exclusive Getaway makes both his Rules and stable debut for Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero following a handful of disappointing runs in point-to-points but is still respected, while Moon Lady completes the shortlist.
Kim Bailey saddled a winning debutant in a bumper at Huntingdon last month so JEUDIDEE is the token selection. Moon Lady could emerge as the biggest threat if building on debut promise at the second attempt.
Moon Lady has looked very limited and if JEUDIDEE has anything about him then he should make a winning debut.

4.5/1(+40%) | (5) Pyramid Place 4.5/1, Capitalised on sliding mark at Wetherby (19.7f) in February. Disappointing in this grade at Ludlow 3 weeks ago though and steps up in trip now. On same mark as last win (2m3f Wetherby, February); fair run over 2m5f latest; a possible. |

2nd (8) (3.33/1 +45%) City Derby |
3.33/1(+45%) | (8) City Derby 3.33/1, Back to form with a bang for new stable when winning 21f Wetherby handicap hurdle last month and shaped well over extended 3m in competitive Ayr contest next time. Can go well back down in trip/class. 14-1 Wetherby winner over 2m3f last month; may not have stayed 3m last time; a possible. |

3rd (4) (3.33/1 +5%) Thatbeatsbanagher |
3.33/1(+5%) | (4) Thatbeatsbanagher 3.33/1, Good record at Sedgefield and resumed winning ways for his first success away from there for Ben Haslam in similar event at Newcastle a fortnight ago. Bit more needed up 4 lb now. Two wins from 4 starts this year, the latest 15 days ago; conditions suit; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (3/1 +25%) Curley Finger |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Curley Finger 3/1, Won Hexham novice and 3m Musselburgh staying handicap hurdle last season. Continued the good work with a front-running third at Kelso 3 weeks ago and not dismissed. Won over 3m in first-time headgear in March and good third last time (2m6f); chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (9/1 +0%) Alqamar |
9/1(+0%) | (1) Alqamar 9/1, Completed a four-timer over shorter in 2021 (3 wins here) but never got going last term. On a good mark if returning at his best but might need the run over the furthest trip he's tackled. Won four times at around 2m in 2021; below par last year; well treated; chance up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (9/1 +55%) Palm Beach |
9/1(+55%) | (7) Palm Beach 9/1, Hasn't made much of an impact in handicaps for this yard but dropping in the weights all the while. First go over this trip. Last win was in March 2022 (2m3f); struggled a bit in h'caps since; longer trip a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (28/1 -211%) Blakeney Point |
28/1(-211%) | (2) Blakeney Point 28/1, Unpredictable but put it all together to add to his tally at Bangor (23f) last summer. On a career-low mark on his return but anyone's guess as to which version of him will show up. Won over 2m7f off 2lb lower in August; not quite so good since; could bounce back. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
OUR LAURA B has progressed well since beginning life in handicap company, winning two of her three starts including at Newcastle in impressive fashion, and the five-year-old is expected to continue her fine run of form. Thatbeatsbanagher boasts a similar profile to the selection, having won on the same card last time, and he can enter calculations, along with Curley Finger.
OUR LAURA B hasn't looked back since sent handicapping and could defy a 10 lb rise for her Newcastle romp if keeping up the good work. City Derby is feared most, ahead of Curley Finger.
Ths is the racecard key.
