It might have been a while since TRAIS FLUORS' last success, but that's reflected in his sliding handicap mark. Better was clearly expected at Brighton 17 days ago, having been sent off as favourite, but first-time cheekpieces may sharpen him up and a further 2lb drop in the ratings ought to further aid his chances. The unexposed Flag Of Truth merits consideration, while Rival continues to run well in defeat and he might not be far away either.

A tricky start to proceedings with the tentative vote going to LENNY'S SPIRIT, who wasn't seen to best effect at Chelmsford just over a fortnight ago and Ed Dunlop's charge is fancied to regain the winning thread with this larger-field scenario likely to be in his favour. Second choice is Sandy Paradise, who has hit the crossbar on his last couple of starts and may have to settle for silver once again, with Mabre and Flag of Truth rounding off the shortlist.

This can go to RIVAL (nap) who has run well in both starts since returning last month, including in a much stronger contest last time.

DYNAMIC TALENT's stamina appeared stretched by a mile at Chelmsford last month and he may be worth chancing now dropped in trip. Society Lion could have been feeling the exertions of his triumph at Thirsk when finishing down the field seven days later at Leicester in April and a return to form looks a distinct possibility. Sir Rodneyredblood is best known for his exploits on the all-weather, but he also enters the reckoning now operating off a significantly lower mark in this sphere, despite being 5lb out of the handicap.

SOCIETY LION scored with something to spare at Thirsk on his penultimate outing and his next outing at Leicester is easily excused, so he's well worth another chance. Wiseacre looks the main danger and Sir Rodneyredblood is worthy of interest from a lower turf mark.

Solid propositions are thin on the ground, for various reasons. WISEACRE is the suggestion, with Dynamic Talent second choice.

Persian Dreamer had over three lengths to spare with Dorothy Lawrence at Newmarket last month but, with that experience under her belt, the latter may well get closer this time. However, they both may have their work cut out to stop GOT TO LOVE A GREY, who was a most impressive winner of a novice event at Nottingham on debut and looks an exciting filly for this season. If all goes to plan here, Royal Ascot is likely to be her next target.

PERSIAN DREAMER ran to a high level for a newcomer when making a winning debut at Newmarket and should prove hard to beat with that performance backed up by the clock. Got To Love A Grey also posted a solid timefigure when scoring by a wide margin at Nottingham and is a clear-next best.

There was a lot to like about PERSIAN DREAMER's dominant debut win at Newmarket and she is taken to make it two out of two.

TUXEDO JUNCTION (third) finished behind both Mustazeed (winner) and Time Interval (second) on his reappearance last month. He's now 6lb better off with both of those rivals, however, and it would be no surprise were he to reverse that form en route to victory. Wisper continues to progress and must be considered, along with Wind Your Neck In, who remains open to further improvement. Others to note include First Officer, Premiere Ligne and The Whipmaster.

TUXEDO JUNCTION got back on the up when third over C&D on his return (had been gelded) and he can take another step forward to reverse the form with Mustazeed from that race. Wind Your Neck In could be the main danger to the pair as he goes back up in trip following a promising reappearance, while Time Interval is another who merits consideration.

The vote goes to MUSTAZEED who appeared to win with more in hand than the margin would suggest on stable debut over C&D last month.

There was plenty of encouragement to be gleaned from HIDDEN STORY's debut second at Nottingham last month and he may have enough improvement in him to land this contest. Syllabus is another who should have learned a lot from his initial bid when finishing fourth over a mile at this venue in April, with a better showing possible now stepped up in distance. The returning Davideo could also have more to offer this season and completes the shortlist.

HIDDEN STORY ran a big race when narrowly denied at Nottingham first time out and, at a track where his stable boasts an excellent record, he takes preference over Davideo, who improved markedly when second at Kempton.

Most of the once-raced contenders are interesting types. First choice is SYLLABUS, ahead of Hidden Story.

Silver Lady won well on debut at Newmarket and two subsequent winners have already come out of that race, so she has to be respected. However, preference is for STORMY SEA, who showed an impressive turn of foot to put her rivals to the sword last time at Haydock. She is a half-sister to Bay Bridge and, with any amount of improvement to come, she merits plenty of respect. Orchid Bloom is another to note.

QUEEN FOR YOU and Silver Lady both stand out having made striking winning debuts and are open to oodles of improvement. The former edges the vote though, her Group 1 entry in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot suggesting she's held in really high regard by the Gosdens and the hint should be taken now that she steps up in grade. Stormy Sea is another promising filly who's in excellent hands.

Juliet Sierra has Group 1 form but gives 5lb all round. QUEEN FOR YOU, Silver Lady and Stormy Sea have made big impressions.

Hugo Palmer has enjoyed a decent start with his juveniles this season, and it may be worth taking a chance on PHONE TAG. The 80,000gns purchase, a son of Havana Grey, should not lack for speed on debut and appeals as a likely contender. Baheer is bred to be sharp and should not be underestimated, while Battle Charge and Quickfire are others to consider.

Usually an informative maiden and newcomer BATTLE CHARGE gets the vote before market clues. Baheer and Time Signature are also appealing on debut, while Rust E Boy can improve on his first effort here 4 weeks ago, form which has been franked.

The vote goes to BATTLE CHARGE whose stable does well with 2yos first time out and had a winning newcomer at Nottingham a week ago.

DUAL IDENTITY was a progressive type last season and didn't run too badly when seventh on his comeback here earlier in the month. William Knight's gelding enjoys a 2lb drop in the handicap for that effort and he's now only 2lb higher than his cracking third in last year's Cambridgeshire. He should take some stopping, with Misty Dancer feared most now returned to handicap company, ahead of the in-form duo of Simply Sondheim and Qaasid.

DUAL IDENTITY won a pair of handicaps last year before running a big race when third in the Cambridgeshire here in September, finishing first home on his side, so he is taken to resume winning ways with his reappearance run behind him. Qaasid has been in good form on the all-weather and could be the main danger, ahead of Simply Sondheim.

Another chance is given to HONITON. Simply Sondheim is feared most, ahead of Dual Identity.

Nobel could have more to offer this season and he's not one to take lightly now entering handicaps off what looks a fair opening mark. Preference, however, is for C&D winner EEETEE, who bounced back to form with a ready success at Haydock last month. The five-year-old looks more than capable of shrugging off a 4lb rise. Lightening Company also returned to winning ways at Pontefract last month and is another of interest for an in-form yard.

This is wide open and though he hasn't been seen for nearly 2 years, ARAMAIC can pick up from where he left off in 2021 and regain the winning thread for his top yard. Spirit Dancer took his form up a notch last season, so Richard Fahey's charge is fancied to give the selection most to think about, with Nobel and Eeetee another couple meriting consideration.

The very lightly raced 4yo MARHABA THE CHAMP returns to action having had wind surgery and there can be optimism he is on a good mark.

RESOLUTE MAN shed his maiden tag at the first time of asking at Yarmouth in October last year and that form is working out well. The son of Dubawi is likely to have more to come on his return to action and can defy the 7lb penalty. The main threat looks to be Oliver Show, who was green on debut but was sent off favourite that day, which suggests he has shown a lot at home. Any market support for Chelsea Square should be noted.

RESOLUTE MAN looked a useful prospect when winning at Yarmouth in the autumn, and with that form having worked out he's taken to defy a penalty on his return before his sights are raised. Good Karma was impressive himself when scoring at Wolverhampton when last seen and looks sure to win more races. English Oak is a well-bred newcomer to note.

As Roger Varian said in his Stable Tour interview, Yarmouth winner RESOLUTE MAN "could be anything".

Andrew Balding has won this race twice in the past three years and looks to have another lively chance with AUSTRALIAN ANGEL. She was a respectable fourth on her seasonal reappearance at Ripon on ground softer than ideal and now back up in trip she makes most appeal. Adjuvant was narrowly denied over C&D at the Guineas meeting here earlier this month and must have claims off the same mark, while Saratoga Gold is likely to be thereabouts having won on his first start last year.

ADJUVANT produced a career best on his seasonal debut when just touched off over C&D 12 days ago, a performance which can be marked up a shade having come from slightly further back than the winner in a race where it proved hard to make up ground from midfield or further back. He therefore makes plenty of appeal, especially from the same mark. Of the opposition, Prince Alex should strip fitter for his reappearance, while Australian Angel will benefit from this return to further.

Preference is for ADJUVANT (nap), who ran well in a higher grade over C&D on 1,000 Guineas day. Prince Alex is second choice.

QUICKTHORN (sixth) was well behind Broome (first) when they met in the Dubai Gold Cup in March, but that was the six-year-old's first run of the season so there is every chance he will improve upon that effort. A progressive stayer throughout last season, including a career-best performance when bolting up in the Lonsdale Cup here, he can bounce back to winning ways. Eldar Eldarov may have disappointed when last seen on British Champions Day, but he was a determined winner of the St Leger before that and promises much as a four-year-old. Giavellotto and Siskany are capable of being in the shake-up as well.

SISKANY and Broome fought out a fine finish in Meydan's Dubai Gold Cup last time and Charlie Appleby's likeable sort is fancied to turn the tables on Aidan O'Brien's doughty 7-y-o meeting him on 3 lb better terms here with this shorter trip also likely to suit him more. This is no two-horse race though with last year's St Leger hero Eldar Eldarov and wide-margin Lonsdale Cup winner Quickthorn also well in the mix in a fascinating Yorkshire Cup.

The key may well be the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan, on which evidence SISKANY (nap) has a good chance to reverse placings with Broome.

The son of Showcasing finished just over two lengths clear of a subsequent winner in third that day and he can take a step forward to strike. Fleet Admiral was an expensive purchase and he most certainly warrants a market check making his first start, along with fellow newcomer Eyeshadow.

EQUATORIAL made a promising debut at Doncaster 3 weeks ago, albeit under more testing conditions, and looks a player with improvement very much on the cards. Troon looked a useful prospect at Kempton on debut last October and he's in with a shout even under a penalty. Fleet Admiral and Crack Shot are both interesting newcomers.

Equatorial would have won at Doncaster had he been that bit wiser but KOKOMO ran no less a promising race on her debut.

Although QUDDWAH has to concede weight all round having won at Salisbury on debut, he did plenty wrong on that occasion which suggests there could be an awful lot more to come from the son of Kingman. Laoisman shaped with plenty of promise when going down narrowly at Pontefract on his debut outing recently and is sure to have benefited from that experience. The same applies to Merlin The Wizard, who went down to a more experienced rival at Kempton in December and this extra yardage looks sure to suit.

Plenty have chances in an open-looking novice but MERLIN THE WIZARD shades the vote having caught the eye keeping on nicely over 7f on his Kempton debut back in December. The step up to 1m is sure to suit on that evidence so he looks as interesting as any. Theatre Honours is a respected newcomer for powerful connections, while Quddwah seems likely to build on his Salisbury debut win.

Most of the runners can be viewed positively. First choice is MERLIN THE WIZARD, ahead of Quddwah and Laoisman.

Mostabshir arguably sets the standard based on his impressive Kempton win last year and his fifth in the Craven was also promising. That said, Jim Crowley has chosen KATHAB over him and the son of Dark Angel may struggle to give 6lb and a beating to the selection. William Haggas' gelding only found one too good on his debut in the Wood Ditton last month and he is fully entitled to improve for that experience. New Business was only a place back in third on that occasion and is another to note, along with Ziryab.

MOSTABSHIR was still green in the Craven, and he'd looked a smart prospect on debut, so his profile rather stands out in the context of this race. Kathab is an expensive Kingman gelding who's likely to take a step forward, so he's respected, along with another once-raced pair New Business and Ziryab (selection's stablemate).

The Shadwell pair have the best form and it could be significant that Jim Crowley rides KATHAB as opposed to Mostabshir.

However, he may struggle to beat TONY MONTANA, who was a length and a half in front of Racingbreaks Ryder on debut, who is now rated 97, which sets a very high standard for this contest. Bloodhound is another newcomer to note for the Charles Hills stable.

A maiden with some very good recent winners. The Gosden stable took this with St Leger hero Logician in 2019 and is taken to repeat the feat with TONY MONTANA, who shaped very well on his only 2-y-o start. Naqeeb didn't make quite the impact the betting suggested he might do on debut but could prove a different proposition now. Nothing To Sea still looked green at Windsor so he also makes the shortlist. Seendid is one of a few interesting newcomers.

Second for TONY MONTANA at Salisbury last September is clearly the best of what little racecourse evidence there is.

REPERTOIRE was far from disgraced in an apprentice handicap on his reappearance at Ascot 16 days ago. The son of Bated Breath is back down to his last winning mark and, with Jamie Spencer back aboard, an improved performance could be on the cards. He shades the vote over the steadily progressive Hiromichi, while Shigar appeals as the pick of the remainder.

It's possible deep ground didn't suit SHIGAR on his reappearance and he's given another chance to show he's a lightly-raced handicapper heading in the right direction. Repertoire is back on the mark he defied at Ascot last spring and is feared most ahead of Tarbaan and Ashky.

The vote goes to HIROMICHI, who is in good form and looks open to further progress over 1m. Shigar is second choice.

The market should prove very informative, with no less than 14 debutants in the line-up. Carter Hall and Valiant Force are the only two with form and the latter is sure to have plenty of supporters after finishing second on debut. He has a wide draw to overcome here though and may have to settle for minor honours. Jessica Harrington, Aidan O'Brien and Johnny Murtagh are all double handed, with preference for O'Brien's GASPARE GABRIELLI. Closely related to High Chaparral, he is a half-brother to dual Group 1 winner Fancy Blue. The master of Ballydoyle also saddles Latin, who is out of an Aga Khan mare and has a nice draw in two. Mariner is owned by the Coolmore conglomerate and is from the family of Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi but appears the Murtagh second-string on jockey bookings. Paddy Twomey is represented by Deepone who makes little appeal on breeding, but still warrants respect.

VALIANT FORCE ran to a high level for a newcomer when runner-up in a listed event at the Curragh and could put that experience to good use up against mostly newcomers. The market should reveal who the main dangers are, with Aidan O'Brien saddling 3, namely Gaspare Gabrielli, Latin and Master of The Hunt.

Who knows what he's up against with so many well-bred newcomers in opposition but VALIANT FORCE ran to a high level on his debut.

Mark Walford's string have been in excellent form recently and IT JUST TAKES TIME gets the vote to follow up his Thirsk victory from last week. The 5lb penalty is negated by Jonny Peate's claim and the step back up in trip is unlikely to inconvenience him. Tiempo Star won on his return to action at Chelmsford and may just be the type to kick on after some below-par efforts last season. Titan Rock, No Nay Nicki and Ataser are others worth a place on the shortlist.

IT JUST TAKES TIME just keeps on getting better and looks well treated under a penalty for last week's ready Thirsk success. The chief threat may come from fellow-last-time out scorers Tiempo Star and Titan Rock, the mount of William Buick.

The filly NO NAY NICKI was a good second of 14 off today's mark over C&D last August and is taken to make a winning return.

This can go the way of CHERRYHAWK, who must hold every chance if building on a strong runner-up effort on her handicap debut at Goodwood last time out. The form of her stable is another plus and she is taken to see off the likes of Kempton winner Roar Emotion and Phenomenon, who could easily improve for the step up in trip. Others to note include Dance Havana, Lucky Fifteen and Major Major.

This is wide open but Hughie Morrison's handicap debutant ROMAN ART looks to start life in handicaps on a lenient mark and can go close if, as expected, building on his Southwell fifth after a break. Cherryhawk represents the in-form yard of Dominic Ffrench Davis and must enter calculations nudged up only a 1 lb for his excellent recent Goodwood second. Kempton scorer Roar Emotion is firmly in the picture too, while handicap debutants Salamancan and Lucky Fifteen appeal as likely improvers.

A chance is taken with handicap-newcomer SALAMANCAN, who hasn't shown much in three starts but is bred to be much better.

This looks a good opportunity for WILLIAMSTOWNDANCER on her hurdling debut for Willie Mullins. This Punchestown bumper winner was a never nearer third in a Grade 2 mares' bumper at Aintree last month which is very strong form in the context of this race. Drying ground will be ideal for her. Mullins also saddles Pure Notions who went off odds-on favourite for a bumper at Cork before finishing sixth. That was on heavy ground and she may be seen to better effect here. The 123-rated Smooth Player wouldn't be winning out of turn after three consecutive runner-up berths. He wasn't at his best when a remote second at Tramore in April, though. Eco Pete won a bumper at this track and is better than his last two efforts.

WILLIAMSTOWNDANCER shaped well from an unpromising position in the Grade 2 Nickel Coin at Aintree on her most recent bumper outing, so she's of strong interest now switched to hurdles in what looks a winnable race. Smooth Player proved a let-down when turned over at short odds at Tramore last time, but was possibly unsuited by the drop back in trip and is a big player on his previous form. The selection's stablemate Pure Notions is clearly thought capable of better and shouldn't be overlooked.

Though WILLIAMSTOWNDANCER lacks the hurdling experience of some of her main rivals, she looks classy enough to score.

Ed Dunlop enlists the services of James Doyle aboard Raven's Applause, and that means the son of Acclamation should be treated with the utmost respect. Others to note include Oriental Dancer and Wadi Bani.

ORIENTAL DANCER took a significant step forward when second on her nursery bow at Leicester late last year despite the run of the race going against her and she's taken to kick off her 3-y-o campaign with a winning reappearance. Raven's Applause has been quickly qualified for handicaps by Ed Dunlop and should still prove better at this trip, so may represent some value, whilst Carvetii's recent second, also at Leicester, makes him a leading player.

Aurora Dawn has more to come in a well-run race but ORIENTAL DANCER is also capable of further progress this year.

FIRM HANDSHAKE and Bella Blue Eyes stand out here, with preference for the Willie McCreery-trained former. He didn't get a clear run early in the straight on debut at Cork but came home strongly in the closing stages to finish a never nearer third. Bella Blue Eyes also ran a fine race on debut at Tipperary in August, filling the runner-up spot behind Library. The Paddy Twomey-trained bay has a wide draw to overcome here but appears the choice of Billy Lee, who of course rides for both McCreery and Twomey. Joseph O'Brien is represented by Guided and newcomer Morello Di Vento, with the latter, who is owned by Real Madrid and Spanish international Alvaro Odriozola, a half-brother to Unconquerable, a smart juvenile in 2021. Second and third at Dundalk last month, City Exile and Banana Three are leading contenders, while Passionate and Winston Spencer are others to keep on side.

BELLA BLUE EYES showed plenty to work on when runner-up at Tipperary in August so could be the answer. Banana Three and Firm Handshake also arrive on the back of promising debuts so also need considering.

A cracking race in which SHE'S CENTIMENTAL can continue her progress on her turf debut. Spartan Arrow is next best.

FATHER OF JAZZ got off the mark over hurdles at the first time of asking for James Owen earlier this month and, although a 7lb penalty is sure to make life more difficult for him, this smart ex-Flat performer may have too much speed around here. Ve Day was nowhere near the standard of the selection on the level but he is dangerous to dismiss. The biggest threat may come from Gaius, who showed ability in two juvenile hurdles and should appreciate this livelier ground.

FATHER OF JAZZ was a useful performer on the Flat and travelled with much more zest when scoring in a small field at Kempton earlier in the month. He's fancied to defy a 6 lb penalty and follow up here, though this a decent race of its type, with Gaius and VE Day also having made promising starts to their hurdling careers, albeit the latter needing to bounce back after a poor showing last time.

Good ground is the key to FATHER OF JAZZ and this looks a weaker race than the one he won at Kempton with the minimum of fuss.

Now that the penny has dropped for WARHOL after a taking win at Windsor last month, the consistent four-year-old should continue to progress off a mere 2lb higher mark. Bunker Bay continues to knock on the door and is fancied to be thereabouts again, along with Talap, who won on the same card as the selection at Windsor. Masqool and Spyfall are others open to improvement.

BUNKER BAY looks ready to strike having pulled clear of the rest when a close second at Yarmouth on his return earlier this month. This does look competitive, though, with last-time-out winners Masqool and Talap heading the dangers.

This looks a fiendish puzzle but the vote goes to ROSE LIGHT ahead of Talap, Sainte Colette and Masqool.

QUEENIE NEWALL is a likely contender on this ground. She was a close third in this grade at Leopardstown in March before running fifth in a higher class at this track the following month, after being badly hampered in the early stages. Perhaps the trip was too far for Mister Twist at Tipperary, but this should be right up his street. His second place on penultimate start in Kilbeggan reads well. I Don't Get It is in rude health as he chases a hat-trick. He likes to dominate from the front and will make this a true test. He has won twice here before. Set Point could be an improver for Gordon Elliott, while Bigz Belief isn't out of it. Willyouwalkwithme has a very good record here with three course victories. He has tended to need his first run back off a break, though, so a market check is advised.

SET POINT stepped up on his previous efforts in this sphere when fourth on his handicap debut at Kilbeggan last month and, with the potential for better again now stepping up in trip, he gets the nod to come out on top. Queenie Newall shaped encouragingly on her comeback over C&D and remains open to improvement, with hat-trick seeker I Don't Get It completing the shortlist.

SET POINT gets the nod. He was noted running on over 2m at Kilbeggan last time and this longer trip should suit.

Defying Orders was beaten just under two lengths into third on her first start and she is likely to have learned a lot from that experience, which puts her in contention. However, MUQTAHEM just shades the vote, as he was a 60,000gns purchase and the son of Soldier's Call is related to a few winners. Therefore, he could be up to the task on debut for the George Boughey yard, who have had a fine start to the season. Classy Clarets is best of the rest.

LIEUTENANT RASCAL showed plenty to work on despite racing wider than ideal throughout on his recent debut at Thirsk, so he's expected to improve and make his second start a winning one. Classy Clarets sets the standard on his Pontefract third, while Muqtahem is the pick of the newcomers before market clues.

Preference is for CLASSY CLARETS, who found plenty of improvement with his third at Pontefract and sets a fair standard on that form.

A case can be made for many in this wide-open affair, with LAUROLINE given the chance to redeem herself. Placed three-times from four starts at Dundalk, the Johnny Murtagh-trained four-year-old disappointed on her turf debut here in April, finishing a well-beaten fifth of six. The testing conditions on that occasion clearly didn't suit the Lope De Vega-bay and on a sounder surface now, a much-improved performance can be expected, with promising apprentice Yudish Geerdharry claiming a valuable 7lb. Dreaming Princess is an interesting contender for Natalia Lupini, her first runner for powerful owners AMO Racing Limited. A winner at Southwell on her penultimate start, she might be able to make an impact here with Wayne Lordan booked to ride. Chavajod (first time cheekpieces) warrants respect on debut for the shrewd Denis Coakley, while handicap debutants Snowhaven and Riverina Charm are others of note.

MISS ABBY JOOLS came good at just the second time of asking for new trainer Charles Byrnes at Dundalk in March and that form has been boosted so a 3 lb nudge may not prevent her following up. Colin Keane's mount Yokkell was in good nick when last seen in the autumn and should play a part if ready to roll after a break. Morning Approach could leave her reappearance behind and also makes the shortlist.

PRESENTANDCOUNTING has been prolific over both fences and hurdles and has slipped in the weights, so is fancied to regain the winning thread after a recent pipe-opener at Cheltenham. The Big Bite is still potentially well treated after his Newbury success, with Captain Tom Cat and La Domaniale others to consider in a strong contest.

TANGO THEATRE was beaten a fair way into second over a similar trip at Ballinrobe, but the form got a boost when the horse just behind her in third came out and won at Cork. That Ballinrobe run came on testing ground and she has form on better ground which she will encounter here. A Dublin Job should strip fitter after his comeback run at Cork. Just three runs back, he was caught in the closing stages of a 3m handicap hurdle on good ground at Tipperary. Latest Model is up in trip and wasn't beaten far into fourth at Clonmel. Cheekpieces are tried on Echo Gate who is in good hands. Tingarran Express has shown all her form on deep ground.

TINGARRAN EXPRESS went close at Clonmel on her penultimate start and having been halted by a shuddering error 2 out back at that venue last month, Philip Fenton's mare gets the verdict to open her account. Tango Theatre was unlcuky to bump into a big improver on return at Ballinrobe 5 weeks ago, so she's put forward as the main danger, ahead of A Dublin Job and Latest Model.

Both TANGO THEATRE and Latest Model put up good efforts last time, with slight preference for the former.

Spanish Angel completes the shortlist.

MEWS HOUSE would have won had he not pulled so hard at Catterick on Monday and can make amends off the same mark back down to the minimum trip. Aconcagua Mountain was in terrific form when last seen at the end of year so must be respected, while Spanish Angel was only just edged out at Chelmsford last week.

This can go to MEWS HOUSE (nap), who had a near-miss on Monday and should be hard to catch on this drop back in trip/grade.

APPRENTICE made the breakthrough at Tipperary last month and might be able to follow-up, with Alan Persse again taking a valuable 7lb off. She was value for more than the winning margin of a head at the Limerick Junction venue and she is likely to be suited by the drying ground here and slight increase in trip. Timeless Piece finished behind the selection at Tipperary but was since successful at Gowran and off a mark of 72 she should be able to make her presence felt. A case can be made for many others. Hazy Mehmory is the highest-rated runner in the line-up, returning to action for the first time since September. She was disappointingly beaten in a three-runner affair at Bellewstown on her most recent start, but back against her own sex now and stepping into handicap company for the first time, she can be expected to go close. Fellow handicap debutants Alazne and Nostringsattached are sure to have their supporters, while course and distance winner Signora Bellissima is another for the shortlist.

Lots with chances so at the likely odds it is worth siding with ALMA LIBRE to take a big step forward from her reappearance ninth after an absence and capitalise on a good mark. Nostringsattached is feared most with better to come now going into handicaps, although Gowran scorer Timeless Piece and other handicap debutantes Alazne and Fleadhfest can also have a say in a very open-looking contest.

BASFORD appears to have been found an ideal opportunity to get off the mark over obstacles, having finished runner-up on his last four starts. He's been freshened up since his latest effort at Carlisle and should have no concerns with ground conditions. The recent Kelso winner Lune De La Mer is another who warrants respect having won his bumper in impressive fashion and is sure to be well schooled for his hurdles debut. This drop back in trip may also see St Patricks Bridge in a better light and he isn't passed over lightly.

LUNE DE LA MER defied greenness when landing a bumper at Kelso a month ago, and with this trip expected to suit now hurdling, he can continue the good work. Basford and St Patricks Bridge are the obvious threats.

A fairly ordinary maiden and LUNE DE LA MER has to be of strong interest after the initial promise he's shown.

FAIRLAND has been in good form between the flags and could transfer it to this beginners' chase. After three placed efforts, she made the breakthrough at Stowlin last month. That jumping experience will stand to her and she has each-way claims. Lakefield Flyer is a threat if taking to fences. He was a more than decent second over hurdles in Down Royal at the start of the month. Finnians Row has enough form in the book to advertise his chance. He gets a visor for the first time. Ask The Leader has won three handicap hurdles at this track and is a chasing newcomer to note on her first run for more than seven months. Dont Doubt Me starts out over fences and has a Gowran Park handicap hurdle in the book. He is also coming off a break. Golden Nugget hasn't shown much in three hurdle races and switches to the bigger obstacles. Her trainer, Gordon Elliott, very rarely leaves a Downpatrick fixture without a winner.

FAIRLAND has won a point since her encouraging third in a Cork hunter and might prove the answer to this maiden chase. Ask The Leader and Lakefield Flyer are likely to play prominent roles if able to translate their fair hurdle form to fences at the first time of asking.

Not many of these make much appeal but at least LAKEFIELD FLYER is in good form after a second place over hurdles lately.

This can go to ARKENSTAAR, who took another step forward despite coming from further back than ideal when runner-up at this course 12 days ago and he can go a place better for the in-form Michael Dods. Cariad got back on the up when third at Wolverhampton last month so she can give the selection most to think about, with handicap debutant Blue Antares completing the shortlist.

The highest rated runner in the line-up and a leading contender for the Ascot Gold Cup, EMILY DICKINSON is the one to beat. She ran some fine races in defeat at the highest-level last season and impressed on her return to action in the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan. Rated just 2lb below the selection, Stratum is given second preference. A dual winner of the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Willie Mullins trained 10-year-old will be ridden by Frankie Dettori, his sole ride on the card. Joseph O'Brien saddles three strong challengers, with Point King perhaps his leading hope. The Zoffany colt won three in-a-row last season, disappointing on his final start of the campaign on Champions Weekend. That effort was too bad to be true and he is given the chance to redeem himself now. Third in the Oaks at the Curragh last season, Cairde Go Deo (first time tongue-strap) is another that warrants respect.

EMILY DICKINSON shot herself to the head of the market for the Ascot Gold Cup when producing a very smart performance to win a listed race at Navan on her return so should prove hard to beat. Okita Soushi and Stratum can fight out minor honours.

Provided that she handles the likely quicker ground, EMILY DICKINSON, will be very hard to beat in her bid for a hat-trick.

Soaring Glory looks worth another go over this longer trip and he's now 5lb lower than his last winning mark, while Boombawn may have been unsuited by a tactical affair at Cheltenham last month and better can be expected here.

Most of these are better known for their chasing exploits and the assessor has taken a major chance with HANG IN THERE's mark back over timber. He's selected to take full advantage, perhaps at the chief expense of Boombawn and Impulsive One.

This might be the easier opportunity that SOARING GLORY has been waiting for and this trip shouldn't really pose a problem.

He supplies Nevermindestranger who dead-heated in a Necarne point-to-point last month.

MATTHEWS HILL made quite a promising start to his hunter career when second at Punchestown last month and might be capable of going one better now. True Or False could provide the chief threat if recapturing her Cork form. David Christie's recent point scorer Nevermindestranger is another who could have a say.

BEATTIE IS BACK looks the way to go here given he arrives on a handy-looking mark and should prove suited by this return to 6f. In-form Muscika is rated next best, although last year's winner Iris Dancer can have a say too now the blinkers go back on.

Vince Lombardi still looks on a good mark but BEATTIE IS BACK appeals most having shaped well over an inadequate 5f on his return.

NUSRA was cruelly denied after attempting to make all at Limerick last month and she might be able to gain compensation now. Without a win in 27 starts, the Garrett Ahern-trained six-year-old appeared to enjoy herself out in front at Greenmount Park and was only headed inside the final 50 yards, going down by half-a-length. Promising apprentice Conor Stone-Walsh has been booked to ride the selection and he claims a valuable 7lb. Bolero finished a good third at Navan six days ago she is sure to have plenty of supporters turned out quickly, while other leading contenders include Supreme Law, Tudor Manor and Charlie Luciano. All Ways And Ever has shown some promise on her last two starts and is one who could outrun her odds.

A case can be made for lots of these and marginal preference is for TUDOR MANOR who made an encouraging return from nine months off when fifth at Limerick last time and figures on an attractive mark in his bid for a breakthrough success. Charlie Luciano is feared most on the back of his comfortable Kilbeggan victory ahead of in-form maiden Bolero and the returning Bayour Belle.

Lounge Lizard has been a different proposition since sporting blinkers and he's not taken lightly in his quest to land a hat-trick, despite facing another 9lb rise in the ratings. That said, KINONDO KWETU finished a cracking third over C&D last month and a reproduction of that effort may suffice. Hidden Heroics can prove dangerous when gaining an uncontested lead and it's too early to be writing off Dan Skelton's gelding.

KINONDO KWETU enjoyed a marvellous last season when scoring five times and this C&D winner is weighted to go close once more as he is able to race off the same mark as when an excellent third at Aintree last time. Dan Skelton's Hidden Heroics is also weighted to have a say and is next on the list ahead of the returning Empire de Maulde and likeable Saint Arvans.

A competitive handicap but KINONDO KWETU (nap) brings strong C&D form to the party after his excellent run here on Grand National day.

A cracking race. VAUCELET just lost out by a length in the champion hunters' chase at Punchestown and is a definite force in these ranks. The last time he raced over this trip he was victorious in a good race at Stratford almost a year ago. He is very much at home on better ground. Billaway is a standing dish at the top table of hunter chasers. He actually hasn't been over a trip as far as this in his career, but does usually find for pressure when he hits the flat spot. He has some questions to answer after failing to complete in two of his last three starts. Dento Des Obeaux was far from outclassed in sixth in the Foxhunters' at Aintree. Prior to that, he won three races in a row and is a player here. Shantou Show is very much on the upgrade. He won here last month and stayed on well to get up by a neck in Tipperary. He looks to have plenty of scope.

VAUCELET has the best form and arrives on the back of a solid showing at Punchestown, so he's preferred to recent Tipperary winner Shantou Show. Billaway is also likely to be involved if he keeps mistakes to a minimum.

Two Brothers arrives at the top of his game and shouldn't be underestimated on this rise in class, but a bigger threat could emerge from Wandering Rocks. James Fanshawe's charge weakened inside the final furlong on his comeback at Kempton last month and he has form on the turf to land a race of this nature.

The low-mileage GOOD SHOW can build on his sound third here earlier in the month and notch a second C&D success. Newmarket raider Wandering Rocks should strip fitter for his AW reappearance and is feared most ahead of last week's Chester runner-up Two Brothers.

7yo FAYLAQ has caught the eye with his placed efforts here in both his runs this season and he gets the vote ahead of Two Brothers.

He was a fast-finishing third on his most recent Flat start in October and it'll come as no surprise if he manages to go two places better now. War Correspondent also returns to the level after a stint over hurdles and Rachael Blackmore reunites with the grey gelding, after partnering him to victory at Punchestown in October. The Teofilo four-year-old is still a maiden on the Flat but should give a good account of himself, tried over 1m4f for the first time. Authorized Art is sure to have plenty of supporters with Jody Townend aboard for Willie Mullins, while other leading contenders for this competitive affair are Effernock Fizz, Magellan Strait, Hell Bent and the hat-trick seeking Burren Song.

BURREN SONG arrives on the up and is fancied to defy a 6 lb rise in the weights and complete a hat-trick at the chief expense of Willie Mullins' Authorized Art, who returns to this sphere on a handy-looking mark. Dundalk scorer S'All Good Man appeals as the pick of the rest for place purposes.

A handicap that's attracted all sorts. AUTHORIZED ART is a class act over the jumps and has to be of interest off this low a mark.

She gets the vote ahead of the likes of Lutinebella and Ile De Jersey, who returns to this sphere after an inconsistent spell over the larger obstacles. The booking of Harry Cobden aboard Molliana also catches the eye.

MALAITA is clearly getting the hang of things over hurdles now and looks up to completing the hat-trick. Latino Fling has been cut some slack by the assessor and is second choice.

Fergal O'Brien's LUTINEBELLA was not discredited when fourth in a Listed race last month and is taken to make a winning handicap debut.

THE WALLPARK appeals on his first run for Gordon Elliott. This Ask gelding showed ability for Vincent Ward, particularly when runner-up in a Down Royal maiden hurdle in November and when third in a Fairyhouse bumper in February. Kalanisi Flash is set to be heavily involved. He landed two point-to-points for Brian Jordan and switched to John McConnell before finishing fourth in a Leopardstown bumper over Christmas. He didn't threaten there, but the winner is very useful in graded company now while the third has since taken a bumper in Cork. Barons Revenge was eighth on debut for Willie Mullins at Punchestown and looks sure to improve, perhaps significantly so.

THE WALLPARK ended his time for his former yard with an excellent third in a bumper at Fairyhouse and, having joined a top outfit, he's expected to open his account at the likely expense of Kalanisi Flash, who made a promising start at Leopardstown 143 days ago. Barons Revenge is also considered despite an underwhelming debut recently.

Fourth to a smart horse at Leopardstown over Christmas, KALANISI FLASH may appreciate this better ground and gets the vote

There clearly wasn't much expected of BANNER ROAD at Musselburgh on her seasonal reappearance a fortnight ago, having gone off at 33/1, but she outran those odds when finishing second and that run may just have put her spot on for this. Macho Pride hinted at a return to form when runner-up at Newcastle earlier this month and looks dangerous, along with Basholo, who was a fine third at Ayr recently and appears to be on a winnable mark.

MACHO PRIDE is unexposed for his current yard and well treated on old form, so he's worth a chance to build on a good second at Newcastle by going one better. Jkr Cobbler is a danger and Basholo deserves respect on the back of a solid showing at Ayr.

An open race in which the vote goes to MACHO PRIDE, who showed clear signs of a revival when runner-up at Newcastle last week.

SHAMIDA is likely to appreciate this step up in trip and looks the one to beat. Her two previous starts have also come at Leopardstown, finishing an eye-catching third on debut last October. She was again third on her recent return to action, keeping on well to take minor honours. Up to 1m4f now, she should be able to make the breakthrough. The 82-rated Water Nymph is an obvious danger, having recently finished third over the course and distance. Joseph O'Brien saddles newcomer Only In Dreams and Sugaree and they both warrant respect. The former is a full-sister to Winema, a Listed winner in France. Feach Amach is the pick of the Jim Bolger trained pair, while it'll be interesting to see how Humtaza fares, after she made some late progress on debut at Gowran last month.

SHAMIDA has shaped with plenty of encouragement on both starts to date and promises to be well suited by this longer trip, so he takes marginal preference over Water Nymph, who has actually achieved a bit more in form terms. Scarlett O'Hara is also of interest.

This step up to 1m4f has to be a major plus for SHAMIDA (nap) who was never nearer than at the finish here 12 days ago.

Some of Lucinda Russell's best days as a trainer have come at this track and she may be about to unleash another smart recruit in the form of dual point-to-point winner CADELL in the renowned Ronnie Bartlett colours. Fellow point winners Saunton Surf and Take It Upstairs can give him the most to think about, along with Hazels Delight and Delilah Bucks.

All bar one are making their debut under Rules so the market should offer plenty of clues, with CADELL the obvious place to start having won both his outings between the flags. Saunton Surf and Hazels Delight were both successful on their sole outings in points and are other likely types.

In a tricky race to evaluate tentative preference is for TAKE IT UPSTAIRS, who easily won a point bumper last month.

There was just over a length between Perfect Soldier (first) and OUR DICKIE (second) at Musselburgh four days ago, but, with the former now given a 4lb penalty, the vote goes to the Iain Jardine-trained gelding to turn the tables. He was staying on well that day and this uphill finish may just prove the difference this time around. Willing To Please appreciated a return to turf when third at Pontefract earlier this month and is worth a check in the betting.

WILLING TO PLEASE has been heading back in the right direction on her last 2 starts, running well when third at Pontefract earlier this month, so she could be ready to take advantage of her reduced mark this time around. Our Dickie is also down to a career-low mark and is feared most, ahead of Chinese Spirit.

The vote goes to WILLING TO PLEASE, who is on a dangerous mark and was placed behind a major improver at Pontefract last time.
