|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Dr Eggman |
3/1(-33%) | (4) Dr Eggman 3/1, Won a maiden hurdle at Limerick over 2m3f by 1 1/2l last time; that form franked; steadily progressive; has experience edge; could figure Took seven goes to get off the mark over hurdles but there's no doubt he's useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Laganhill |
13/2(+41%) | (2) Laganhill 13/2, Below par well beaten in Premier Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) over 2m2f at Kelso latest where ground may have been bit quick; in good form prior; top jockey back on board; plenty more needed and may find ground quick enough 2-3 over hurdles; disappointed when upped to Grade 2 level but remains a good prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Toad Hall |
9/4(-20%) | (6) Toad Hall 9/4, Well backed when won a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick over 2m6f by 10l last time; good speed figure that day; steadily progressive; form franked at Graded level; the one to beat Comfortable winner of Downpatrick maiden last month; holds two Grade 1 entries; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Block Rockin Beats |
14/1(+30%) | (7) Block Rockin Beats 14/1, Looked unenthusiastic comfortably held in Sidney Banks Memorial Novices' Hurdle (Listed) at Huntingdon last time; still green that day; not proven trip; bumper winner here but plenty more needed Useful in bumpers here in the autumn but has made low-key start to hurdling career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() The Long Walk |
40/1(+0%) | (9) The Long Walk 40/1, 13l third in a maiden hurdle over 2m2f at Fontwell most recent run; steadily progressive; step up in trip a plus; plenty more needed Well held when third in Fontwell maiden on hurdling debut six weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Jacques Clouseau |
50/1(-25%) | (8) Jacques Clouseau 50/1, Raced freely beaten 9 1/2l in a maiden hurdle at Wetherby last time; that moderate form; off a short-break; plenty more needed from point winner Shaped with promise on both hurdling starts but is probably one for another day. |
Laganhill failed to maintain his unbeaten record when well beaten in Grade 2 company at Kelso, but this should be easier and he ought to go close. Even so, JAX JUNIOR gets the vote. The six-year-old finished a close third in the Sidney Banks before finding the Albert Bartlett too much of an ask. He now sports a first-time tongue-tie and that may help eke out more. Dr Eggman got off the mark over hurdles at Limerick and is another to note.
Lucy Wadham's JAX JUNIOR gets the verdict in the hope he can run his rivals ragged from the front.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) ![]() A Scoop Or Two |
250/1(-400%) | (13) A Scoop Or Two 250/1, 14 Feb; 11,000gns Bated Breath filly; half-sister to La Belle Vie, fair at 12f; top course trainer; may need experience 11,000gns foal; by a sprinter, out of a 1m5f winner; unappealing from wide draw. |
ALI SHUFFLE won a shade cosily on her Redcar debut earlier in the month and she may prove good enough to give 5lb or more to her rivals to come home in front. Kevin Ryan had a juvenile winner at Musselburgh on Sunday and is represented by Kilfrush Desert, who commands plenty of respect, while others likely to make an impact are Museum Piece and Sand Lily.
Ali Shuffle is an obvious one, along with newcomers Dakota Dawn, Kilfrush Desert, SAND LILY and Sioux Perfect.

9/4(+75%) | (12) Double Rush 9/4, Well backed and improved to win a maiden at Wolverhampton by 4l on reappearance; up 8lb, but even that doesn't look an onerous burden and can threaten Made all in a fast time at Wolverhampton on reappearance; commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Bob Mali |
7/1(+61%) | (8) Bob Mali 7/1, Progressive in maiden and two novices at 2yo, but went too fast and failed to stay when well beaten in Horris Hill Stakes (G3) over 7f at Newbury final start; remains unexposed 3-3 over this trip but needs ground softer than good; debut for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Invictus Gold |
5/1(+64%) | (3) Invictus Gold 5/1, Progressed markedly as 2yo and creditable 2 1/2l 5th in Rockingham (Listed) final start; mark looks fair, but this seasonal reappearance; may still be on the upgrade Ran well in Listed grade on final 2yo start; seems suited by slow ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) ![]() Gallant |
15/2(+25%) | (13) Gallant 15/2, Promising Kempton novice win, but then too free and disappointing on reappearance beaten 5 1/2l in a novice at Lingfield latest; not without a chance, but a bit to prove Open to progress now handicapping with Lingfield reappearance under his belt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Loom |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Loom 33/1, Progressive and improved again when beaten 4l in Norfolk Stakes (G2) over 5f at Ascot finals start of 2024 way back in June; layoff since a major worry of course and best watched Absent since Royal Ascot effort; heed the market signals. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) ![]() King Of Bears |
28/1(-75%) | (1) King Of Bears 28/1, Only beaten 3l when 7th in the Richmond (G2), but disappointed only start after; has had wind operation since and back from a break here; hood fitted and bit to prove Something to prove off this mark (peak effort may flatter him); new stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Al Misbar |
15/2(-50%) | (9) Al Misbar 15/2, Ran to form beaten 1 1/4l off 83 over 7f here final start of 2024; cheekpieces first time; top course jockey/trainer combination; open to marked improvement 1,500,000gns purchase who is 0-4 but may have a race of this nature in him. |
With the Charlie Appleby horses ticking along nicely, it would be folly to ignore the chances of Al Misbar, who is still a maiden after four starts but sports first-time cheekpieces on his second start since being gelded. Race-fitness may be key, though, and that points to the Charlie Hills-trained DOUBLE RUSH, a four-length maiden winner at Wolverhampton after being backed into odds-on favouritism. He can hopefully go on from there, with The Dragon King and Belgrave a couple of others for the shortlist.
Preference is for DOUBLE RUSH (nap), who looks a useful sprinter in the making. Defence Minister ties in with the seleection.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Mathan |
10/11(+70%) | (2) Mathan 10/11, Well backed when won a maiden at Curragh by 3 1/4l last time showing willing attitude; steadily progressive; top course trainer; go close if coping with the quicker surface Curragh maiden winner type to keep progressing; major contender if handling quicker ground. |

14/1(-75%) | (3) Monotone 14/1, Probably needed race fourth beaten 14l in a handicap at Naas latest; blinkers first time; highly tried at 2; not proven trip; unproven on fast ground; needs more Hasn't really progressed since 2yo win; blinkers now tried and needs to improve plenty. |

14/1(-75%) | (8) Shiota 14/1, Ideally suited by trip 1/2l third in a nursery at Curragh most recent run; unexposed at 7f; form of summer win working out well; unproven on fast ground; contender Got this trip well final 2yo start but this looks a tough enough task on return. |

6th (5) ![]() Ethical Code |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Ethical Code 4/1, A short-head winner in a maiden at Dundalk on debut; that form franked; hood first time; top course jockey; in the mix back from break switched to turf Dundalk 2yo maiden winner; hood fitted for turf debut and likely more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Queens Fury |
11/1(-47%) | (7) Queens Fury 11/1, Weak in the market comfortably held in a 3yo race at Dundalk last time; beat next time out winner in maiden previously; unproven on fast ground; off a short-break; bit to find Quite exposed filly, vulnerable to several potential improvers here. |
NANCY J is a filly with plenty of potential. She won her maiden on debut on fast ground over C&D last August and wasn't beaten far into fifth in Listed class at Leopardstown the following month. She didn't have the clearest route when occupying the same place in the Goffs 500 at the Curragh, but holds some notable entries. Justify filly Ethical Code won on debut at Dundalk in October and is one to look forward to on turf, while Mathan is race fit after a ready success in a Curragh maiden at the end of last month which brings him into the equation. Queens Fury has plenty of form in the book behind classy types and is nicely weighted with Sam Coen's claim.
Her Listed run is the best form on offer and the well entered up NANCY J is taken to make a winning return

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) ![]() Typhoon Flyer |
6/1(-9%) | (12) Typhoon Flyer 6/1, Well backed when landed handicap by 15l off 114 over 2m3f at Haydock last time; previous form franked; good ground suits; competition up front but should be thereabouts Faces his stiffest test to date but he's coming along nicely; likely front-runner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) ![]() Disco Annie |
33/1(+18%) | (14) Disco Annie 33/1, Not clear run comfortably held in a handicap chase over 2m3f at Wetherby last time; lost form in that discipline; progressive hurdler in autumn; not proven trip; off a short-break; fair mark but stamina concerns Capable hurdler but could find this too competitive; chasing the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) ![]() Doyen Quest |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) ![]() Wilde About Oscar |
150/1(-127%) | (10) Wilde About Oscar 150/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle here latest where needed run; needs to prove ability remains following lay off; best watched Returning from 633 days away when pulled up in last month's Martin Pipe (150-1). |
It was hard to not be impressed by TYPHOON FLYER's romp at Haydock last month and a 6lb rise for that triumph may prove to be lenient. The seven-year-old should have no issues with this extra distance and can complete a double. Ballytechno made the frame at Kelso on his latest outing and should go well off just a 1lb higher mark. Last year's winner Doyen Quest and Spirits Bay are others to keep an eye on.
After a good run in the Imperial Cup and with possible improvement lurking over this longer trip, SPIRITS BAY is the call.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Moon Flight |
10/1(-43%) | (6) Moon Flight 10/1, Beaten 2 1/4l off 81 at Southwell last time hinting at revival; significant jockey booking; on last winning mark; each way claims in open race Won similar race to this at Ayr (5f, good to firm) last June; back in some latest. |
Four-year-olds have a good record in this race and it will be interesting to see where EQUITY LAW sits in the market ahead of his first start for Tim Easterby, with his latest win at Sandown in April last year in a better race, and off a 5lb higher mark. King Of Tonga has won on his return before and was last seen scoring at Chester in July, but he may have to settle for a place on this occasion, while Elegant Erin loves it here with three wins from five starts.
An open race in which TRILBY (nap) gets the vote following an eyecatching reappearance when meeting traffic at Doncaster.

A large field of unraced three-year-olds and a race that often throws up a decent sort or two. Invariably won by a top Newmarket stable, the Gosdens have won two of the last four runnings and have chances again this year with ALTAREQ and Caughtredhanded, the first-named a Frankel colt who looks the part on pedigree and may be the one to beat. Spy Kingdom is another who looks interesting as a son of Kitten's Joy and with Oisin Murphy in the saddle, as do Sea The Stars colt Muhaajim and perhaps Hard Endeavor for Jane Chapple-Hyam.
Judged on breeding and other factors, MUHAAJIM scores particularly highly. Second choice is Spy Kingdom.

NO SUCH THING caught a tartar in Leopardstown, but banked another placed finish in second and may get his turn. He has now been placed in three of his four races and brings a level of consistency to the contest. Trip and ground are fine, and he gets first-time blinkers. Aston Value has a tricky draw, but he took third in a couple of maidens at Cork and the Curragh last season, and the form has been franked. Dahoma looks the pick of Joseph O'Brien's five runners on jockey bookings and there should be more to come after a fifth place in Bellewstown. Hopes Are High, who finished third on his sole start at Dundalk, shouldn't be ruled out on this switch to turf.
Blitzed by a smart sort at Leopardstown last month, NO SUCH THING can go one better here now dropped back in trip with blinkers fitted

|PU| (7) ![]() Harper's Brook |
33/1(-32%) | (7) Harper's Brook 33/1, Below par 30l third in a handicap chase over 2m at Chepstow most recent run; up in trip; off a short-break; well treated on best form but big enthusiasm concerns Cajoled to narrow success in December but this quirky customer always comes with risk. |
Willie Mullins has a couple of strong chances in this contest, with slight preference for CLASSIC GETAWAY after his victory in the Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park. The nine-year-old has progressed with each run this season and can continue on his upward trajectory. His stable companion O'Moore Park outran odds of 66/1 to make the frame behind Caldwell Potter over C&D at the Festival and looks the main threat. Bhaloo completes the shortlist.
Another chance is given to MOON D'ORANGE, who did very well to overcome a last-fence jumping error and win over C&D two rus ago.

11/1(-22%) | (9) Havana Rum 11/1, Yard won this last year; slowly away fourth beaten 6 1/2l in a handicap over 6f at Doncaster latest; back in trip; versatile ground wise; probably bit to come if fit after lay off All four wins gained over 6f and never raced over this short; unappealing on return. |
Hiya Maite is entitled to go close and will look to put his race fitness to good use after a neck second at Southwell last month. He still needs a career best off this mark, and preference is for the younger ANGEL SHARED, whose wins on turf have come on a variety of surfaces. She could step forward this season, with Albegone and Havana Rum also of interest from the bottom of the handicap.
No strong fancy in this one but DURAN won three times last year and still looks like having more to give, preferred to Hiya Maite.

9/1(+0%) | (4) Royal Zabeel 9/1, Well backed and looked to make huge progress when winning the Lady Wulfruna Stakes (Listed) at Wolverhampton over 7f by 3/4l last time; drop in trip questionable and has to prove form no fluke back on turf, but could go well Has done well over 7f on for shrewd new connections; further progress is possible. |

7th (1) ![]() Apollo One |
7/1(+18%) | (1) Apollo One 7/1, Ideally suited 6f when best ever effort to win Bengough Stakes (G3) at Ascot by a length final start of 2024; steadily progressive; ran well seasonal debut 2024; chance in very tight race Won similar event at Ascot on last appearance; incurs 3lb penalty but likely to run well. |
Run To Freedom is one to consider having competed at the top level in 2023 but with just the one start since, when well beaten in this race last year, he may be best watched. Royal Zabeel is tempting with three wins from his last four starts on the all-weather, but ROMANTIC STYLE looks the one to beat. After failing to see out the mile in the Cape Verdi at Meydan, she made amends with an easy victory there over this trip and a repeat of that performance might be all she needs.
French challenger SAJIR looks open to further progress and is taken to come out on top in an interesting clash with Romantic Style.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (12) ![]() Lady Crossing |
150/1(-200%) | (12) Lady Crossing 150/1, Shaman filly; half-sister to Spirit Of Big Bang, very useful at 8f; dam high-class at 10f; yard not known for debut winners; best watched Half-sister to four winners; from small yard and likely to be better for the experience. |
DE NOVO could step forward from a debut fourth at Dundalk in November. The Lope De Vega filly kept on over 7f that day and a step up in trip on turf can see her go well for Joseph O'Brien and Dylan Browne McMonagle. Murkala and Joyful Princess are both rated 82 with the former holding a fitness advantage courtesy of a third place in a Curragh maiden last month. Dermot Weld takes the wraps off Ghaiyyath filly Harana, while Donnacha O'Brien introduces Churchill filly True Friend and both should be given a market check. Kodi's Angel and De Novo's stablemate, Sissi, will have their supporters.
Runner-up in two good-ground maidens in the autumn, JOYFUL PRINCESS holds solid claims and gets the vote in a useful-looking maiden

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) ![]() Back On The Lash |
28/1(-40%) | (10) Back On The Lash 28/1, Unseated in a handicap chase over 3m at Ludlow latest where looked big threat; up in trip; top jockey back on board; loves the track; thrown in on old form; very interesting Placed in cross-country chase here in November but well below that form in orthodox chases. |

40/1(+50%) | (15) Valirann Gold 40/1, Comfortably held in a handicap chase over 2m3f at Fontwell last time; generally out of form; up in trip; plenty more needed and looks out of depth here Completely unexposed beyond 3m but faces very tall order from 13lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Yes Day |
4/1(-14%) | (2) Yes Day 4/1, Enjoyed the quick ground when landing a handicap by 2l off 121 over 3m7f at Exeter last time; down in trip; top jockey back on board; chance In career-best form last month, winning twice in pretty good style (3m1f/3m6f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Mahland |
8/1(-23%) | (5) Mahland 8/1, Suited by the good ground when landing a handicap by 3l off 119 over 2m7f at Uttoxeter last time following wind op; step up in trip should suit on chase debut; very interesting Won over hurdles last month; set daunting task on chase debut but evidently in good nick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Illico De Cotte |
11/1(-10%) | (3) Illico De Cotte 11/1, Found ground too quick comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m5f at Warwick last time; in good form prior; winter form working out well; fast conditions a concern Weak finisher when upped to 3m5f last month but made good start to chase career beforehand. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Northern Poet |
22/1(-22%) | (7) Northern Poet 22/1, Ideally suited by trip when scored by 2l off 117 over 3m5f at Warwick penultimate start; pulled up in a handicap chase latest where unsuited by track and drop in distance; up in trip; each way shout Won twice last month but latest run was abject; hard to predict. |

|PU| (1) ![]() Undersupervision |
40/1(-60%) | (1) Undersupervision 40/1, Pulled up in a handicap chase over 3m2f at Doncaster latest; tongue-tie first time; up in trip; former Grimthorpe winner; not the force of old; opposed Very well handicapped on old form but pulled up on six of last eight appearances. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) ![]() Saint Xavier |
66/1(-100%) | (14) Saint Xavier 66/1, Below par fourth beaten 49l in a handicap chase over 3m5f at Lingfield latest; off a short-break; bit to find and wants easier ground 3m4f winner off much reduced mark in December but younger rivals appeal much more. |
YES DAY has been a revelation since going beyond 3m over fences and the hat-trick looks very much on the cards following a comfortable success at Exeter off 4lb lower. Ajp Kingdom could not have done it any easier over 3m2f at Uttoxeter in November and he is a key player, as is Regarde, who improved for wind surgery when scoring at Haydock. Chepstow winner Ask Brewster and chasing debutant Mahland also warrant consideration.
In-form 7yo YES DAY could still have significant untapped potential over marathon trips and is taken to complete a hat-trick.

1st (7) ![]() Wilhelmina |
3/1(+25%) | (7) Wilhelmina 3/1, 7 1/2l third in a novice over 7f at Lingfield most recent run; consistent prior; highly tried at 2; returning from a break; up in trip; not ruled out Fair ability last year; didn't progress, but had excuses; can do better now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Arkinthestars |
11/2(-10%) | (3) Arkinthestars 11/2, Weak in the market 2l third in a maiden over 10f at Newcastle most recent run; that moderate form; consistent; down in trip; bit to find 0-4, fair ability without progressing; this looks like requiring a bit more from her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Adoon Valley |
15/8(-56%) | (2) Adoon Valley 15/8, Made too much use of beaten 5l in a novice over 7f at Newmarket (July) last time; race came too soon that day; returning from long layoff; up in trip; debut form franked at Group level; major player Showed ability last year; up in trip after an absence, but needs taking seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Soul Dance |
9/1(+73%) | (5) Soul Dance 9/1, Well beaten in a novice at Lingfield only start where missed the break; yard's horses tend to take big step forwards second run; significant improvement likely 40-1, always behind after slow start in 1m AW Lingfield novice on debut; should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Pomme Pomme |
150/1(-200%) | (4) Pomme Pomme 150/1, Well beaten in a maiden at Lingfield only start where very green and missed the break; trainer in form; all to do Always behind in 1m AW Lingfield fillies' maiden on recent debut (16-1); way more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Time For Dessert |
250/1(-279%) | (6) Time For Dessert 250/1, Well beaten in a novice at Southwell only start where missed the break; off a short-break; difficult to fancy Always behind after slow start in 1m AW Southwell fillies' novice on debut in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Al Khawssaa |
10/3(-21%) | (1) Al Khawssaa 10/3, Well backed when won a novice at Southwell over 7f by 2l last time only pushed out; that form franked at Listed level in France; up in trip; threat Contested two 7f AW fillies' novices last year, winning at Southwell second up; penalty. |
AL KHAWSSAA ended her three-year-old campaign with a cosy triumph at Southwell and she looks one to keep the right side of on her return to action. Roger Varian has his string in fine fettle and the Night Of Thunder filly looks capable of following up. The biggest threat may emerge from Adoon Valley, who is a live threat judged on her debut second at Newmarket. Arkinthestars and Wilhelmina are also worth a second look.
Most tempting is WILHELMINA, who had excuses after a pleasing debut last year and looks like improving now.

1st (3) ![]() Field Of Gold |
10/3(+33%) | (3) Field Of Gold 10/3, Very taking Solario (G3) winner and game fourth beaten 2 1/4l in Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (Group 1) over 7f at Longchamp final start of 2024; trip probably limit of stamina, but can go close Won the Solario then ran creditably in French Group 1; remains of major interest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) ![]() Wimbledon Hawkeye |
7/2(+22%) | (9) Wimbledon Hawkeye 7/2, Travelled well when winning Royal Lodge (G2), but much too free in Futurity (G1) at Doncaster; open to improvement, but needs to settle; light-framed and may not make average progression with age Solid operator whose form stacks up well; won the Royal Lodge over C&D; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Aomori City |
9/1(-157%) | (1) Aomori City 9/1, Vintage Stakes winner, but didn't really confirm that form when fourth beaten 4l in the National Stakes (Group 1) over 7f at The Curragh; up in trip; yard has won 2 of last 5 runnings and jockey bookings arguably favours this one of two entries Won the Vintage Stakes and ran well in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Benevento |
20/1(+20%) | (2) Benevento 20/1, Listed winner at the Leger meeting and made too much use of on likely unsuitable ground below par in Horris Hill Stakes (Group 3) final start of 2024; bit to find, but trainer in form and worthy of the entry Progressive good-ground form features a Listed win; more to do in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() New Century |
9/2(+10%) | (5) New Century 9/2, Very progressive at 2yo and won Stonehenge Stakes (Listed) at Salisbury by 1/2l final start looking suited by a mile; could be more to come and in the mix Progressive colt who brings Grade 1 form; strong contender returned to home soil. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Opera Ballo |
7/2(+42%) | (6) Opera Ballo 7/2, Quickened well clear, authoritatively, outclassing rivals when winning a 3yo conditions race at Kempton by 4l last time; top course trainer; one of two for yard, which are very closely matched; big player Exciting prospect who has impressed in two Kempton races; potentially high class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() The Waco Kid |
22/1(+12%) | (7) The Waco Kid 22/1, Allowed to dictate, but won going away and on merit in testing conditions over 7f when winning Tattersalls Stakes (G3) final start of 2024; progressive and will get the mile; not without claims Useful sort but everything went his way in Group 3 contest here last autumn. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Matauri Bay |
16/1(-146%) | (4) Matauri Bay 16/1, Comfortably held in Criterium International (Group 1) at Saint-Cloud last time, but better judged on closing 3/4l second to Field Of Gold in Solario having been out-kicked; can rate more highly, but may want 10f really; has had wind operation Had wind surgery since last run; ties in with Field Of Gold on Solario running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) ![]() The Watcher |
33/1(-32%) | (8) The Watcher 33/1, Well backed when winning a novice at Wolverhampton over 7f by 5l last time just pushed out; up in trip and hugely in class; big, galloping type, potentially very smart, but this is a big ask Promising sort who is 2-2 (AW wins) but needs big improvement at this level. |
Charlie Appleby has taken two of the last four renewals of this contest and has a pair of contenders this time around, with William Buick opting for AOMORI CITY instead of the unbeaten Opera Ballo. The son of Oasis Dream produced the best effort of his career when signing off his campaign with third in the Juvenile Turf at Del Mar in November. Provided he has wintered well, it would be no surprise to see him score. Wimbledon Hawkeye took the Royal Lodge over C&D last year and is another to consider.
Several runners hold strong claims in an open-looking Craven. The percentage call goes to WIMBLEDON HAWKEYE, ahead of Opera Ballo.

3rd (5) ![]() Voice Of Northeast |
7/1(-155%) | (5) Voice Of Northeast 7/1, Ideally suited by trip fourth beaten 10l in an auction race at Leopardstown latest; steadily progressive; proven at 1m; should be thereabouts Last week's Leopardstown run encouraging; one to consider. |

4th (6) ![]() Wasittheway |
66/1(-32%) | (6) Wasittheway 66/1, Raced freely down the field in an auction race over 7f at Dundalk most recent; up in trip; returning from a break; hard to recommend Huge prices and ran accordingly in both end of year 2yo maidens; easily passed over. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) ![]() Uluwatu |
150/1(-127%) | (12) Uluwatu 150/1, Below par down the field in an auction race at Bellewstown most recent; yet to show anything; difficult to fancy Huge prices and poor form both recent maidens; impossible to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) ![]() Ribean |
16/1(-60%) | (4) Ribean 16/1, Had benefited for debut experience beaten 9l in a maiden over 7f at Cork last time where had run of race from front; top course trainer; up in trip; plenty more needed Recent Cork run was a bit more encouraging; needs to find more though. |
CHARANDA could do some damage in this claimer. It is a long way from a Curragh Group 3 that she raced in last August to this grade and jockey Nicola Burns is proving to be good value for her 7lb claim. The 74-rated Reponse Finale has been running in decent maidens and was just pipped in second at Down Royal last September, so she is respected. Weegeebear can be tardy from the gates, but did win a claimer on his penultimate start in Dundalk. Connections reach for a visor on him. Live Like The Boss doesn't lack breeding and first-time cheekpieces are tried in a bid to spark improvement, while Voice Of Northeast isn't out of it.
Her Down Royal maiden second last year makes REPONSE FINALE (nap) the one to beat now dropped in trip

200/1(-100%) | (7) Flash Collonges 200/1, Pulled up in a handicap hurdle over 2m4f here latest where needed run; better known as chaser; out of form for some time; fair bit to find At 150-1 he was always in trouble in last month's Martin Pipe; opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) ![]() Super Survivor |
11/1(-10%) | (5) Super Survivor 11/1, Well backed when scored by 3l off 125 over 3m1f at Huntingdon penultimate start; 11th beaten 21l off 131 last time; consistent veteran; vulnerable to better treated rival Close to a career-high mark but this isn't as challenging as the Pertemps Final last time. |
A comfortable winner of this contest last year off 13lb lower, ZAIN NIGHTS arrives in top form once again, having scored at Newbury last month. The booking of Harry Cobden catches the eye and he can follow up at the main expense of Mr Hope Street, who was second at Newbury in December and has won over further than this before. Runner-up in the Stayers' Hurdle here just two years ago, Dashel Drasher brings plenty of class to proceedings, while Long Draw has strong claims if bouncing back to the form of December's success over C&D.
Dan Skelton's MR HOPE STREET should be fresher than a lot of these and he remains unexposed at this sort of distance.

5th (2) ![]() Sir Peter Fossick |
5/1(-43%) | (2) Sir Peter Fossick 5/1, 4 1/2l third in a maiden over 7f at Chester most recent run; significant jockey booking; up in trip, probably suit better; mark looks stiff but not out of it Four starts in 7f maidens last year, twice finishing a fair second; newly gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Shielas Well |
20/1(-67%) | (6) Shielas Well 20/1, Did not get a clear run fourth beaten 7 1/4l in a handicap over 11f at Southwell latest off a layoff; not proven trip but should suit; in the mix Sole filly and looks more exposed than the others; plenty more needed than on reappearance. |
Although thwarted in his follow-up bid at Chelmsford 20 days ago, LIGHTENING MANN lost little in defeat in finishing second. A 2lb nudge up in the ratings looks workable for Jack Channon's gelding and he's fancied to regain the winning thread. Sir Peter Fossick may have found the ground too soft on his third-placed defeat at Chester in September last year and he isn't taken lightly on the back of a gelding procedure. Edge Ofthe Unknown is the pick of the remainder.
The most appealing option is SIR PETER FOSSIC, a potential improver now up in trip for his return albeit he's not exactly bred to stay.

5th (1) ![]() Blazing Spirit |
7/2(-75%) | (1) Blazing Spirit 7/2, Had benefited for debut experience fourth beaten 2l in a novice at Southwell latest; top course jockey/trainer combination; likely improver and should figure May take another step forward with the hood retained; possibilities. |
Seren Star cost 88,000 euros and is related to plenty of winners, including Group 3 scorer Circumvent, and it will be interesting if the market speaks in her favour. However, STELLENBOSCH looks the one to be on. Richard Hannon's filly has shown plenty of ability when third on both of her starts to date and she can build on that under Ryan Moore. Blazing Spirit could take a step forward from her fourth at Southwell and also needs to be considered.
Solid-looking STELLENBOSCH gets the vote. Elizabeth Bay and Blazing Spirit are the chief dangers on form.

15/2(+58%) | (8) Super Exceed 15/2, Raced freely beaten 5l in a handicap at Dundalk last time; generally out of form since 1m maiden win; unproven on fast ground; needs to improve back from break Underwhelming so far in handicaps; hood now discarded on seasonal return. |
PINK OXALIS has shown useful form on the all-weather this winter and is likely to appreciate today's drying turf conditions. Her Dundalk form has been consistently useful and having won comfortably in March on her second attempt over today's distance, should get involved in this competitive handicap. Neo Smart is ground-versatile and is 1lb ahead of the handicapper under her fixed penalty for winning at the Curragh four days ago, although both her wins have come over seven furlongs. Mallavelly won well on her debut for new connections at Dundalk recently and is capable of another decent showing.
It may pay to keep following recent Dundalk maiden winner MALLAVELLY back in handicap company

|PU| (6) ![]() What Path |
16/1(+52%) | (6) What Path 16/1, Did not get a clear run comfortably held in a handicap chase over 3m at Doncaster last time; inconsistent for this yard; enjoys making it; good mark on Irish form; needs to prove stamina for 3m2f Generally very disappointing for current stable since the autumn; needs to turn a corner. |
Fergal O'Brien has farmed this race, winning the last three renewals, with Manothepeople successful last season and back for more off 3lb higher. He hasn't quite been at his best this year, but could still go close as the only C&D winner in the field. Does He Know has won four times here and warrants plenty of respect, but MORODER might be the one. A cosy winner of the Grimthorpe at Doncaster on just his third start of the campaign, he may confirm the form with the third-placed Hymac, even on these less favourable terms, and go one better than 12 months ago.
After running well for a long way in last month's C&D Kim Muir, MANOTHEPEOPLE (nap) can land this prize for the second consecutive year

SP(+100%) | (5) Dr Rio SP, Ran to form beaten 3 1/2l off 63 over 11f at Southwell last time; goes well here; up in trip; may need the run; loves it here, including CD win; pretty consistent; contender Four course wins, the latest two in 2024; back near latest winning mark; might need this. |
FREDDY ROBINSON returned to form with a staying-on third over 1m2f at Doncaster last time out. The son of Adaay should relish today's extra two furlongs and compensation could be on the cards. Prince Achille ended his last campaign with a fair sixth at Newcastle and a 134-day break may freshen him up. The six-year-old is feared most reverting to turf, ahead of Marioento.
Three of these took part in the same Doncaster race last month and it's the sixth WHATACRACKER who makes the most appeal.

Having filled the frame on all four outings over hurdles this season, BUCKNA might be rewarded for his consistency. The five-year-old arrives on the back of a solid third over 2m at Southwell and today's extra half mile holds no fear. The biggest threat may emerge from the returning Deep Purple, who should have learned plenty from his third-placed timber debut at Ludlow behind subsequent Grade 1-placed Wendigo. Devon Dude also has the ability to go close.
Warren Greatrex's BUCKNA should benefit from today's return to a longer distance and he gets the nod over Deep Purple.

The Andrew Balding yard has hit top form and his SPANISH VOICE can get off the mark following a highly promising third on debut at Kempton in December. He is bred to improve for the rise from a mile and may have too much for Valedictory, who arrives with similar claims after outrunning his odds to finish a close-up third at Doncaster's Leger meeting. Chess Dad and Push The Limit have 7lb penalties to carry for victories on the all-weather, which will make life much tougher.
The ones with big-race entries are VALEDICTORY (for the Gosdens), Push The Limit (Beckett) and Spanish Voice (Balding).

GALLO DELL CIELO had been running consistently well at Dundalk during the winter season and while he drops in distance on his return to turf, has winning form over today's course-and-distance. Last October's C&D success came on testing ground but having shown good ability on the all-weather, should have no issues returning to a fast turf surface. Rampage wasn't beaten far on his most recent runs and is ideally suited by this distance, although mightn't want fast ground. Course specialist Summer Snow tried 1m2f for the first time at Navan recently and would prefer a shorter trip.
Course winner GALLO DE DEL CIELO ran well on his return to action at Dundalk last month and may be able to overcome a wide draw

16/1(+0%) | (16) Mary 16/1, Fell in Lady Godiva Mares' Novice Chase (Listed) over 2m4f at Warwick latest; down in trip; returning from a break; good mark on chase form; each way claims off light weight Two falls this season have been over fences; capable hurdler off this sort of mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (13) ![]() Continuance |
8/1(-45%) | (13) Continuance 8/1, Something in hand landing a handicap by 7 1/2l off 113 over 2m2f at Fontwell last time; good ground key; remains well treated on flat form; could complete hat trick Has dominated single-figure fields the last twice; has duly shot up the weights. |
Continuance arrives in excellent form after wins at Ludlow and Fontwell and, with Freddie Keighley remaining in the saddle, he can go well in his hunt for the hat-trick. Game Colours is a model of consistency with six top-three finishes in a row, including success at Lingfield, and she deserves to pick up some prize money, but CASA NO MENTO is hard to oppose. She returns to timber after a wide-margin success over fences at Bangor and has some decent form in much better races over hurdles to call upon.
This looks very open. BIG BOY BOBBY probably faced mission impossible last time when second to a well-backed 4yo.

10/1(+38%) | (8) Top Bins 10/1, Beaten 8 1/4l in a nursery at Newcastle last time; not proven trip; returning from a break; didn't fire in two nursery handicaps last term, bit to prove Ability without progressing in five starts last year, including in visor; newly gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) ![]() Vesperado |
20/1(+0%) | (11) Vesperado 20/1, Appeared not to stay well beaten in a novice at Thirsk latest; not proven trip, looks better over shorter; on stiff looking mark, lot to do Now in a more suitable race, but doesn't really appeal on first start since August. |
A gelding operation seemed to work wonders for BELTADAAY when scoring easily at Leicester last October. A 10lb rise for that success could prove manageable, despite totally different conditions on his return. The son of Adaay is narrowly preferred to the consistent Law Degree and Sovereign Class, who bounced back to form with a strong runner-up effort over further at Musselburgh most recently. Berkshire Smudge and Seed Investor are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
There looks like being more to come from MOBY QUICK, so he's the choice in a race with no fully convincing options.

KAP BOY has faced some stiff tasks over inadequate trips during his novice campaign, but today's 2m4f distance could be the making of him. The Kapgarde gelding boasts plenty of stamina in his pedigree and he may find enough improvement to open his account in this discipline. The combination of a wind procedure and quicker ground may see Golan Loop in a better light. Warren Greatrex's inmate is feared most, ahead of hurdles debutant Scorpio Rising.
There should be some improvement to come from KAP BOY, who moves up in trip after finishing fourth in two better races than this.

6th (1) ![]() Jumby |
12/1(+0%) | (1) Jumby 12/1, Third in Hungerford in August and well treated on that form here, but below it all other starts in 2024; major chance if at best, but could need race and not as reliable as once was Best effort last term when going close in his bid to win Group 3 at Newbury in August. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Darkness |
16/1(-33%) | (6) Darkness 16/1, Won a competitive handicap at Sandown by 1/2l off 89 in September; only a pound higher here; needed run reappearance in 2024 and others probably better handicapped Had 7f handicap wins last June and September and now just 1lb above his last winning mark. |
A taking winner on the July Course here last summer, FIFTY NIFTY struck on debut at Yarmouth as well, which bodes well for his return to action. With conditions in his favour once more, a mark of 93 could still underestimate Tom Clover's charge, and it may be that recent Pontefract winner Fahrenheit Seven gives him the most to think about now back at 7f. Miss Information is another to consider, as is Stanage, who has been raised just 3lb for a determined success at Doncaster.
The market moves should reveal more but preference is for the reappearing 4yos FIFTY NIFTY and Ten Pounds who are lightly raced.

MOLLY HALL is perfectly suited by today's good ground and this distance and should be ready on her seasonal reappearance. The selection finished third to Not Just Any Eagle at Tipperary last August and is now 5lb worse off but is very much proven at this distance, in contrast to her rival whose best form is over slightly shorter distances. Admittedly Not Just Any Eagle has proven race-fitness and will be well suited to fast ground. Five-time winner Autocrat ran very consistently at Dundalk last winter-series but his turf form isn't as strong, and he is held by the selection on Clonmel form last September.
The locally-trained SIOUX EAGLE shaped well a couple of times last summer and should have a handicap in him off this mark

The Edward Bethell stable can do little wrong at present and CROWN'S LADY could be a shrewd recruit to the yard, having won three times last year. Going back up in trip looks like a good move for the four-year-old, and it may be that Astronomica gives her the most to think about, having ended last season with highly creditable efforts at Leicester and Newmarket. Catton Lady and Electric Avenue cannot be ruled out either.
This is tricky with doubts about the fitness of a few of them and the state of the ground. CROWN'S LADY gets a tentative vote.

Lilting Verse has been in good heart over fences of late and she warrants respect reverting to timber. However, February Ludlow scorer FELICIE DU MAQUIS looks to have more to come as a stayer and this lightly-raced 10-year-old is fancied to defy a 4lb higher mark. Gaye Legacy (second) finished three lengths behind the selection and Tom Symonds' mare must also enter the reckoning racing off 3lb better terms.
Top of the list is I AM THE MOON, who put in a good front-running shift in a competitive novices' handicap at Newbury last month.

10/1(-33%) | (4) Saladam 10/1, Fell in a handicap chase over 1m7f at Wetherby latest; longer trip a plus; returning from a break; good mark on hurdles form; can make presence felt It wasn't his first scruffy jump when falling on chase debut in November; others safer. |
The Dream Goes On completed a double at Plumpton earlier in the month and boasts a leading chance of continuing his brilliant form. However, the vote goes to A MOMENTS MADNESS, who produced a good effort to finish second at Fontwell last time and the assessor kindly left his mark alone for that effort. With a similar display, he might be the one to beat. Cat Tiger appears best of the remainder.
Preference is for A MOMENTS MADNESS (nap), who ran well in defeat at Fontwell after a wind operation.

9th (4) ![]() I Spy A Diva |
25/1(-108%) | (4) I Spy A Diva 25/1, Appeared not to stay well beaten in a handicap hurdle over 3m1f at Cartmel latest; in good form prior; down in trip; thrown in on old form; jockey booking suggests big run expected on return Had another wind operation following a poor run in May 2023 when last seen; dropped 5lb. |
El Granjero has taken the silver medal home on each of his last three starts, with two of those efforts coming in this sphere and he should remain competitive. However, NINTH LOCH looks the way to go. Harry Derham's charge justified favouritism in good style at Chepstow on his latest outing and a 4lb may underestimate that performance. Last-time-out C&D scorer Letterston Lady isn't out of it either.
El Granjero looks the most solid to run well but has found one too good for him lately. EATON ANNE might be the one on soft ground.

A major improver from first to second start for new connections when scoring comfortably over C&D last time out, AIRTOTHETHRONE should have plenty more to come, despite a 7lb penalty. Record High scored over further at Fontwell last time out and he can follow him home, along with Bampton Star, who regained the winning thread with a determined display at Exeter last month. Others to note include Another Lord, River Run Free and Shot Boii.
The win may go to RIVER RUN FREE, who looked to have further improvement in him prior to his underpowered hat-trick bid in February.

11th (7) ![]() Cher Monsieur |
14/1(+44%) | (7) Cher Monsieur 14/1, Down the field in a novice hurdle over 2m1f at Bangor-on-Dee most recent where stopped quickly; lot to find off stiff opening mark Placed in Irish points; beaten at least 44l in three starts over hurdles (50-1 to 200-1). |
JUST AIDAN continues to go from strength to strength, and a further 6lb rise for his most recent success at Wincanton may not be enough to prevent the six-year-old from landing the hat-trick. Placed on each of his last two outings at Chepstow, Victor Haze looks to be a main danger, along with Rodney, who was a revelation on his first start for new connections when scoring over further at Taunton in February.
There is a good chance that last-time-out winners JUST AIDAN and Rodney have further improvement in them and they are preferred.
Ths is the racecard key.
