4th (1) (9/2 +0%) Al Qudra |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
With no form to go on, the market could prove the best guide to these newcomers but the eye is drawn to Charlie Appleby's Golophin-owned duo of Al Qudra and HALLASAN. The latter is a half-brother to several winners, including Group 3 juvenile scorer Al Raya, and the 180,000gns purchase is expected to go well for William Buick. James Doyle partners his stablemate, whose price tag rose to 425,000gns as a yearling and he's out of a dam who won a Listed race as a two-year-old. Arran cost 180,000 euros and is related to a few decent winners, so he warrants respect, along with Richard Hannon's The Actor.
An early-season 2-y-o novice that usually produces a few useful types and the betting often points the way. HALLASAN and Al Qudra both make plenty of appeal on paper for red-hot Charlie Appleby and William Buick's mount gets the vote before market clues. Bretton Wood, and Arran, from a yard that had an impressive 2-y-o winner at Kempton last week, are a couple of others to note.
Charlie Appleby saddles two and William Buick's mount HALLASAN is taken to come out on top. Stablemate Al Qudra is second choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Icare Desbois beat Lecky Watson in a Fairyhouse bumper last Easter and is the clear form pick on his third to King Of Kingsfield and Mirazur West in a maiden hurdle at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. However, he's disappointed twice since and OMNISCIENT may prove a better alternative. The selection was rated in the 90s after winning twice on the Flat for Sir Mark Prescott and was just let down by his jumping in the closing stages when making a promising hurdle debut at Fairyhouse recently. He should benefit from that experience and is preferred to Union Station who had Kinbara Hills well behind in fourth when placed at Navan last month. Galway Festival bumper winner Fortunate Lighting is another to consider.
OMNISCIENT was useful on the Flat and, while his hurdling debut was a little underwhelming, he's worth a chance to open his account with improvement anticipated. Icare Desbois is an obvious player if back on his game and Fortunate Lightning is an interesting hurdling debutant.
There is a question mark against ICARE DESBOIS after his two most recent starts but he will be hard to beat if retrieving his form

1st (4) (10/1 +0%) Tees Spirit |
10/1(+0%) | (4) Tees Spirit 10/1, Five-time winner in 2022. Didn't fire for the bulk of last season but had excuses at times and can compete from this mark if he's ready for this return. 2022 was his year; threatened only once last season and rain not welcomed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (11/1 -22%) Navello |
11/1(-22%) | (9) Navello 11/1, 22/1, won 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 24 days ago, driven out. This is clearly much tougher but he remains well treated on his best form. Recent Wolverhampton winner; can deal with this higher level and he's on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (16/1 -14%) Isle Of Lismore |
16/1(-14%) | (11) Isle Of Lismore 16/1, In good heart for most of last season, winning on the July Course in July. Back on track at Lingfield on reappearance and should strip fitter for it, so not discounted. Unplaced in this last year but has the benefit of a run this time; runs July track well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (12/1 -33%) Makanah |
12/1(-33%) | (1) Makanah 12/1, C&D winner who wasn't at his best when last seen at Doncaster. Capable from this sort of mark, though, and has gone well fresh before, so worth considering. Not impossibly treated by any means and has won first time back in the past. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (15) (9/1 +10%) Shalaa Asker |
9/1(+10%) | (15) Shalaa Asker 9/1, Four wins from 17 runs last year. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Kempton (6f, 11/1) 15 days ago. Has a fitness edge over some but others look better treated. AW has always been more his scene and he's 5-22 over 6f, as opposed to 1-17 over 5f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (16/1 -129%) Spring Bloom |
16/1(-129%) | (12) Spring Bloom 16/1, Ended last season below his best but was runner-up to Dream Composer in this off the same mark on reappearance last year and will likely have been primed for another big run. Respected. Good record on this track and capable of showing his form when fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) (50/1 -178%) Almaty Star |
50/1(-178%) | (14) Almaty Star 50/1, Eighth of 11 in handicap (14/1) at Kempton (6f) 15 days ago. Not long with this yard but has a bit to prove at present. AW maiden winner who has to prove that he's as effective on grass; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (11/1 +8%) Prince Of Pillo |
11/1(+8%) | (7) Prince Of Pillo 11/1, Won 3 of his 5 starts at 2, including a listed race. Didn't fire last year but worth keeping an eye on in the market returning on a potentially lenient mark. Good 2yo; last season was disappointing but he could easily revive as a 4yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (16/1 -14%) Above |
16/1(-14%) | (13) Above 16/1, 18/1, bit below form sixth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 86 days ago. Returns on a handy mark with his stable going well, so not a forlorn hope. Fair record on both Newmarket tracks and he's another on a perfectly good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (9/1 +50%) Burning Cash |
9/1(+50%) | (10) Burning Cash 9/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 9/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 32 days ago. Others make more appeal. Back to form on the AW in Feb and a slow start did him back at Newcastle last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (4/1 +27%) Dream Composer |
4/1(+27%) | (6) Dream Composer 4/1, Improver last year, winning 3 times. Shaped as if he'd come on for his reappearance at Doncaster and won this off 91 last year, so worth taking a chance on. Three wins last year included this race; should be cherry ripe after his Doncaster win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (14/1 -17%) Lethal Nymph |
14/1(-17%) | (8) Lethal Nymph 14/1, Unexposed for this stable and took a step in the right direction when third at Newcastle last time. Has a fitness edge on some and merits respect. Sprung back to life on his second run for this yard with a 66-1 placed effort at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (13/2 +28%) The Big Board |
13/2(+28%) | (3) The Big Board 13/2, Much improved in 2023 and bagged her third win at Ascot in July. Signed off with a lesser effort at Doncaster 7 months ago but no surprise if she does better still this year. Four-time winner and nothing wrong with her mark if returning near her best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (2) (10/1 +17%) Bedford Flyer |
10/1(+17%) | (2) Bedford Flyer 10/1, Arrives on the back of a lesser effort at Newcastle but he's well treated on his best form and could bounce back returned to turf. Dual turf winner but perhaps at his best on the AW and he's unraced here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
This is a wide-open handicap but there is plenty to like about the chances of DREAM COMPOSER, who won this race last year, before landing decent pots at Goodwood and Sandown, and returns off a 1lb lower mark than his victory 12 months ago. With a recent pipe-opener under his belt, he is preferred to Mountain Peak, who drops in class and in the ratings for his seasonal debut, and C&D winner Makanah, who is used to mixing in better company. Isle Of Lismore looks the pick of Robert Cowell's trio after a promising seasonal debut third at Lingfield 12 days ago.
Last year's winner DREAM COMPOSER is 1 lb lower this time around and made a satisfactory reappearance at Doncaster, so he makes most appeal, with Navello also considered having scored at Wolverhampton last time. Makanah has a decent record fresh and can't be ruled out.
Last year's winner DREAM COMPOSER (nap) might well go in again after an encouraging reappearance at Doncaster.

4/1(+20%) | (9) Cheerful Chap 4/1, First run since leaving N. Dooly when good second of 20 in handicap hurdle (33/1) at Cork (20f, heavy) 26 days ago. Considered. Long-priced second over 2m4f at Cork, stamina should come into play at this stiff track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) (9/2 +25%) Verbal Sparring |
9/2(+25%) | (11) Verbal Sparring 9/2, 8/1, not seen to best effect (all but came down fifth) when respectable sixth of 25 in handicap hurdle at this course (16f, soft) 12 days ago. Had been shaping up well prior to that. Might prove the answer. Let down by his jumping here 12 days ago, fair chance of reversing form with Red Striker. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

16/1(-14%) | (7) Johngus 16/1, Latest win in hurdle at Limerick in December. Eleventh of 15 in handicap hurdle at Cork (16f, heavy, 7/1) 15 days ago. Poor run at Cork last time, held by Cheerful Chap on the basis of a previous Cork clash. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (12/1 -33%) Clarens |
12/1(-33%) | (2) Clarens 12/1, 7/2, well-held seventh of 9 in handicap hurdle at Tramore (16.8f, heavy) 106 days ago. Booking of Kennedy catches the eye and he'll be a player if back to the form he showed when second at Navan in December. Good form in 2021, hard to be confident after failure when favourite at Tramore in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (28/1 +30%) Tempo Chapter Two |

5/1(+29%) | (10) Upthereforthinking 5/1, Respectable sixth of 16 in handicap hurdle (5/1) at Navan (20f, heavy) 121 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Remains lightly raced for a good stable. Has managed respectable handicap displays at Navan, needs to find a bit extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (11/1 +8%) Ebasari |
11/1(+8%) | (3) Ebasari 11/1, Fell in handicap hurdle at Cork (20f, heavy, 18/1) 26 days ago. Respectable fourth at Navan prior to that. Prominent when falling three out in a Cork event in which Cheerful Chap finished second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (50/1 -52%) Wajaaha |
50/1(-52%) | (5) Wajaaha 50/1, 66/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at Dundalk (12f) 25 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Fairly useful hurdler, respectable on last hurdle run. Has tended to struggle over hurdles since finishing second at this venue early last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (150/1 -355%) Construct |
150/1(-355%) | (6) Construct 150/1, Fair winner at 16f on flat. Visored for 1st time, eleventh of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 66/1) 76 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Down in trip. Pulled up over fences at Sedgefield on latest jumps start. Almost five years since he showed his best form winning twice over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
VERBAL SPARRING has filled the runner-up spot twice in handicaps this winter notably when staying on nicely behind Whiskeywealth over C&D in February. The selection has been let down by his jumping on both outings since but given a clear round appears on a favourable mark. Red Striker has completed the hat-trick of winning on the Flat, a hurdle and a chase and comes here on the back of a promising third to Ernie From Nurney in a 25-runner handicap at this venue. Answering justified favouritism in a Thurles maiden last month and rates a threat along with Cheerful Chap who beat all bar Clonbury Bridge in a 20-runner 2m4f Cork handicap last month. Clarens has disappointed twice since a promising second at Navan, but the booking of Jack Kennedy is interesting.
VERBAL SPARRING had an excuse last time and had been knocking on the door in similar company prior to that so he gets the nod. Recent course third Red Striker is next on the list ahead of Cheerful Chap who made a positive start for new trainer Philip Rothwell when second at Cork last month. Last-time-out Thurles maiden winner Answering also makes the shortlist.
Jumping is a concern for potential supporters of VERBAL SPARRING but he looks capable of winning off this mark if he can avoid error

33/1(-32%) | (12) Watcha Matey 33/1, Placed 4 times prior to finally coming good on the July course here (7f) last summer. Disappointing in sales race at Doncaster final start (subsequently gelded). Surprise if he isn't vulnerable to some of the much less-exposed sorts in this line-up. Enjoyed solid 2yo campaign; gelded since; needs to be better than ever on this comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/1 +44%) The Camden Colt |
9/1(+44%) | (1) The Camden Colt 9/1, Fairly useful form at 2, ending his campaign with a close second in a C&D nursery (good to firm) in September. Has a more exposed profile than a number of today's rivals, though. Just one from eight in 2yo campaign but went very close over C&D when last seen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (22/1 -22%) The Ice Phoenix |
22/1(-22%) | (11) The Ice Phoenix 22/1, Fairly useful form. Didn't need to be at best when winning 7-runner novice at Lingfield (7f) in November. Creditable fifth of 7 on 8.6f Wolverhampton handicap debut/reappearance 15 days ago but that underlines he needs more from his mark. May improve for recent reappearance fifth on AW but could do with settling better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (20/1 -150%) Arisaig |
20/1(-150%) | (6) Arisaig 20/1, Winner of 7f novices at Chelmsford and Lingfield towards the end of 2023 (well beaten in AW listed race in France in between). Switches to turf for this handicap debut/reappearance with Ryan Moore booked. 2-3 (all races on AW); could continue to improve, but it's needed off her opening mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (33/1 -200%) Chaturanga |
33/1(-200%) | (3) Chaturanga 33/1, Won 6f Redcar maiden and 7f Haydock novice on first 2 starts but found life tough in an Ascot listed and big-field sales race at the Curragh subsequently. Not obviously well handicapped. Down the field on final 2 runs last year but plenty of promise previously; back from break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (7/1 -40%) Break The Bank |
7/1(-40%) | (8) Break The Bank 7/1, Stepped up on his 2-y-o form when justifying strong market support on his 1m Kempton handicap debut 3 weeks ago. Had plenty in hand so even an 8 lb rise may not stop him with further progress likely. Cosy win on recent AW/handicap debut, having been gelded; an 8lb rise may not stop him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (8/1 +27%) Sisyphean |
8/1(+27%) | (10) Sisyphean 8/1, Didn't need to step up on his 2-y-o efforts on turf when shading a close finish in 1m Newcastle novice on his reappearance. Showed a good attitude on that occasion but more will be needed now moving into handicap company. Won 1m AW novice in February on 4th start; makes h'cap debut off fair mark; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (6/1 +0%) Grand Karat |
6/1(+0%) | (9) Grand Karat 6/1, Plenty to like about his 3 efforts at 2, finishing second to the very useful Orne at Kempton (7f) on the third occasion. Should be more to come in handicaps this season and an opening mark of 80 appeals as very workable. Has potential off handicap debut mark in view of his final two juvenile runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (40/1 -150%) Lavender Hill Mob |
40/1(-150%) | (13) Lavender Hill Mob 40/1, Won 1m novice at Lingfield in January. Has shown better form when third in small-field handicaps on AW since but in a much deeper race now back on the grass. Third in first two handicaps; improvement needed but perhaps latest form can be upgraded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (9/1 +10%) Bravo Zulu |
9/1(+10%) | (4) Bravo Zulu 9/1, Built on promising debut when winning 7f Kempton maiden in November and followed up in determined fashion in 7f Southwell novice in March, edging out the reopposing African Spirit by a neck. Makes his turf and handicap debut here. AW maiden/novice wins the last twice; form reads well; not ruled out on h'cap/turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (11/1 -120%) Crown Estate |
11/1(-120%) | (5) Crown Estate 11/1, Fair form at 2 and didn't need to improve to make a winning return from wind surgery (also gelded) in 1m Newcastle maiden last month. His opening mark looks tough but he's from a top stable so improvement can't be ruled out. Easy AW maiden win last month; in top hands and has fine pedigree; in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (16/1 -60%) African Spirit |
16/1(-60%) | (7) African Spirit 16/1, Looked a useful prospect when making a winning debut in 7f Newcastle maiden last September. Not seen to best effect in valuable event at York 17 days later and got his career straight back on track when narrowly denied by Bravo Zulu in a 7f Southwell novice last month. Handicap debut. Attractively bred gelding; remains unexposed after just three starts; open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (2) (9/4 +50%) Broadway Act |
9/4(+50%) | (2) Broadway Act 9/4, Promising type who got off the mark in 7f course maiden (good to firm) last September. Couldn't justify short odds in a nursery back here (7f again) in October but he certainly wasn't disgraced in third and returns as an unexposed sort from a leading stable. Has been gelded. 7f course maiden winner; gelded since last seen; could have more to offer now at 1m. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Bravo Zulu and Arisaig both arrive on the back of a victory in novice company on the all-weather and they are very interesting now tried in a handicap, but possibly not as much as CROWN ESTATE. Following wind and gelding operations, John and Thady Gosden's charge built on his juvenile promise with a facile 1m maiden success at Newcastle last month and a mark of 84 looks workable given his scope for further improvement. Broadway Act ended last season with a decent third off this mark in a 7f handicap here and Charlie Appleby's gelding must be considered closely on his return.
A typically warm-looking 3-y-o handicap for this meeting. GRAND KARAT ran well when placed behind some very useful sorts on his final 2 outings last season so an opening mark of 80 could prove generous. Break The Bank should have more to come on the back of his impressive Kempton handicap debut success and is second choice ahead of Godolphin's Broadway Act, a course winner at 2.
Grand Karat is a tempting option but preference is for BREAK THE BANK who won on his handicap debut at Kempton three weeks ago.

1st (6) (2/1 +60%) Hermes Le Gris |
2/1(+60%) | (6) Hermes Le Gris 2/1, Has hit the ground running for his new yard, easily bagging 14-runner handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (19.6f, heavy) last month. Came up short under a penalty at Fakenham 8 days later, though, and latest effort at Hereford wasn't his best. Won at Huntingdon in February but below-par Hereford sixth latest; sort to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 -100%) Followango |
9/2(-100%) | (2) Followango 9/2, Point/bumper winner who has shown plenty in 4 starts since switched to hurdles, finishing third in a 19.5f Chepstow handicap last time. Could take the beating. Creditable third on h'cap debut at Chepstow; she ought to be thereabouts once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (2/1 +33%) Wonderweasle |
2/1(+33%) | (7) Wonderweasle 2/1, 9/1, career best when winning 6-runner handicap hurdle at this C&D (heavy) 16 days ago. She's expected to be bang there again. Opened her account over C&D 16 days ago; she's not discounted despite taking a 3lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (10/1 -67%) Ghost Hunter |
10/1(-67%) | (1) Ghost Hunter 10/1, £80,000 buy after finishing second in an Irish point in April and best effort to date over hurdles when fourth at Plumpton last time. Needs to step up again on handicap debut. Brought along steadily over hurdles, fourth at Plumpton latest; player now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 -40%) Bobalot |
14/1(-40%) | (3) Bobalot 14/1, Resumed winning ways back hurdling in 9-runner 2¾m Fontwell handicap in January. Pulled up at Warwick since but could bounce back with visor refitted. Won at Fontwell in January but pulled up at Warwick last month; he needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (14/1 -100%) Bert Wilson |
14/1(-100%) | (5) Bert Wilson 14/1, Reacted well to a visor last season, winning handicap hurdles at Plumpton and Chepstow. Hard to predict though and fell at Taunton when last seen three months ago. Has failed to fire this term, ridden in midfield when falling three out at Taunton latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (18/1 -80%) Breizh Alko |
18/1(-80%) | (4) Breizh Alko 18/1, Veteran who had cheekpieces refitted when posting a creditable third of 4 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (27f) in February. Added to record of non-completions over fences at Chepstow so this return to timber should suit. Pulled up at Chepstow latest; no surprise to see him bounce back returned to this sphere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for WONDERWEASLE after a taking success over C&D last month, there should be more improvement forthcoming and she can follow up off a 3lb higher mark. A consistent sort up until a disappointing performance at Chepstow when upped in grade last time, Followango is capable of being in the shake-up, along with Bert Wilson, who is just 1lb above his last winning mark and fell when still in contention on his latest outing.
FOLLOWANGO looked promising before a respectable handicap debut at Chepstow last time and she looks feasibly treated based on her bumper form, so she gets the nod over last-time-out C&D winner Wonderweasle. Hermes Le Gris is a potential player if back on track.
A few with chances but GHOST HUNTER appeals as a likely improver now going into handicap company so Warren Greatrex's 5yo gets the nod

11/4(+8%) | (5) Born Braver 11/4, Runner-up sole start in bumpers and posted promising second of 6 in novice at Navan (22.4f, heavy, 11/4) on hurdles bow 45 days ago. Likely more to come yet. Dual point winner and runner-up in both runs under rules; beaten by a good horse latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 +10%) Big Stage |
9/2(+10%) | (4) Big Stage 9/2, Winning pointer who has acquitted himself well in both starts in maiden hurdles, latest when second at Cork (20f, heavy) last month. One of likelier contenders. Bit to find with Dr Eggman and didn't show any notable improvement in his run since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (14/1 -100%) Ayiko |
14/1(-100%) | (2) Ayiko 14/1, Lightly-raced winner under NH rules. Winner in bumper at Ayr in December. 50/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, fifth of 20 in novice hurdle at Down Royal (16.9f, soft) 30 days ago. Each-way claims. Bumper winner and fifth of 20 in latest maiden; one of the better each-way contenders. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (4/9 +45%) Dr Eggman |
4/9(+45%) | (8) Dr Eggman 4/9, Useful bumper winner who has made the frame in all 3 starts over timber, latest when second of 6 in novice at Punchestown (20.2f, heavy) 55 days ago. Hood on first time. Sets the standard on form. Standard setter in this company and he could jump/settle better in the first-time hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (22/1 -340%) The Story So Far |
22/1(-340%) | (12) The Story So Far 22/1, Modest hurdler. Winner in bumper at Limerick in December. 2/1, running with credit when falling 2 out in novice hurdle at Limerick (24f, heavy) 37 days ago. Others more persuasive. Bumper winner; held by Dr Eggman on their form in a previous clash; fell last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (125/1 -279%) Trade Master |
125/1(-279%) | (13) Trade Master 125/1, Masterofthehorse gelding. Dam lightly raced/little impact in bumpers/over hurdles. Third foal; dam well beaten in bumper/maiden hurdles, half-sister to winning jumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (150/1 -50%) Littlewell Lariat |
150/1(-50%) | (10) Littlewell Lariat 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fifth of 9 in novice hurdle at Limerick (19f, heavy, 100/1) 23 days ago. Improvement required. Showed more on his second run but was still only fifth of nine at Limerick and beaten 24l. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (9) (200/1 -100%) Gustavo Goodway |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Gustavo Goodway 200/1, Once-raced maiden. 66/1, ninth of 18 in novice hurdle at Thurles (15.9f, heavy) on NH debut 31 days ago. Up in trip. Maiden pointer and was tailed off in a Thurles maiden hurdle when 66-1. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (125/1 -56%) Battle Roar |
125/1(-56%) | (3) Battle Roar 125/1, Twice-raced maiden under NH rules. 150/1, sixth of 11 in novice hurdle at Down Royal (17.2f, heavy) on hurdles bow 84 days ago. Work to do. The closest he's come thus far is a 16l defeat; looks up against it once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (16) (200/1 -33%) We Will Rock You |
200/1(-33%) | (16) We Will Rock You 200/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Twelfth of 19 in novice hurdle (200/1) at this course (16f, soft) 12 days ago. Back up in trip. No evidence to suggest that she can get competitive in maiden company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (11) (80/1 -142%) Lummi Island |
80/1(-142%) | (11) Lummi Island 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Seventh of 15 in novice hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, soft, 50/1) on hurdles bow 44 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Back up in trip. Work to do with principals here. Placed in one of his four bumpers; finished midfield on hurdling debut at Leopardstown. |

15th (7) (200/1 -203%) County Champs |
200/1(-203%) | (7) County Champs 200/1, Champs Elysees gelding. Half-brother to a point winner. Dam 19f/21f hurdle/chase winner (stayed 3m). 9,000 euros foal; fourth foal; half-brother to point winner Rattling Road. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (15) (100/1 -100%) Wolfhill |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (6) (200/1 -33%) Catchyoulater |
200/1(-33%) | (6) Catchyoulater 200/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 250/1, fourteenth of 21 in novice hurdle at this course (19f, heavy) 37 days ago. No worthwhile form in three maidens and he's highly likely to be outclassed again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18th (14) (200/1 -33%) Wardens Whisper |
200/1(-33%) | (14) Wardens Whisper 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. Unseated rider in novice hurdle (300/1) at Fairyhouse (16f, heavy) 16 days ago. Up in trip. Tailed off on debut and was 300-1 when departing early at Fairyhouse. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
DR EGGMAN was a useful sort in bumpers winning at Ballinrobe and was switched to hurdles this winter when placed twice behind useful sorts at Navan. The keen running gelding, who is now fitted with a hood for the first time, had Big Stage over four lengths back in third when again filling the runner-up spot at Punchestown last time and could be difficult to beat if tidying up his jumping. Born Braver won twice in point-to-points before joining Gavin Cromwell this year and now drops in trip after his second to Kinturk Kalanisi on hurdle debut at Navan. The Story So Far and Ayiko are two bumper winners with hurdle experience to consider.
DR EGGMAN pulled clear of the remainder when runner-up at Punchestown last time and looks the one to beat. Born Braver and Big Stage look the likeliest dangers.
Although on the verge of becoming frustrating, DR EGGMAN faces his easiest assignment to date and the new hood looks a good move.

1st (5) (20/1 -43%) Hafeet Alain |
20/1(-43%) | (5) Hafeet Alain 20/1, Productive 2023 campaign, winning on the other course here last June and added to that at York in October. Posted several creditable efforts in defeat, too, but he resumes on a tough-looking mark and others make more appeal for win purposes. Back to his best last year with wins in June/October; slow ground may be preferable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (9/1 +36%) Dutch Decoy |
9/1(+36%) | (7) Dutch Decoy 9/1, Five-time 7f/1m winner in 2022 and went in on the July Course here last summer. Plenty of creditable efforts in top-end handicaps later in 2023 and should come on for his Doncaster reappearance spin, but he could probably do with some respite from the handicapper. Yard also saddles Benacre. Excused reappearance run in the Lincoln; on a competitive mark on last season's best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (18/1 -177%) Daysofourlives |
18/1(-177%) | (6) Daysofourlives 18/1, Off the mark on turf when sharing the spoils at Ascot (1m, good to firm) in September and good third in a minor event over the same C&D next time. Signed last year off by making it 2-2 on the AW upped to 1¼m at Chelmsford and while more will be needed up 4 lb back from a break, he's hardly exposed. 2 wins last autumn and this unexposed 4yo could still have more to offer; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (11/1 +8%) Theoryofeverything |
11/1(+8%) | (8) Theoryofeverything 11/1, Looked good when making a winning debut in a Doncaster novice last spring before going on to finish third in the Greenham at Newbury. Failed to progress in handicaps thereafter but Pontefract third when last seen in September was a sound effort. Gelded/changed hands since and he remains of interest. Lightly raced 4yo who has moved to trainer who does well with recruits from other yards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (7/1 +22%) Majestic |
7/1(+22%) | (11) Majestic 7/1, Won the Cambridgeshire here on final 4-y-o start and signed off last season with another good effort in that cavalry charge, keeping on into a share of fourth after encountering traffic problems. Current mark leaves little margin for error but could easily have a say if fully tuned-up. Won the Cambridgeshire here in 2022; 0-8 last season but ran some good races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (17) (18/1 -112%) Bodorgan |
18/1(-112%) | (17) Bodorgan 18/1, Improved with each of his 3 starts at 2 yrs, signing that campaign off with a decisive 7f novice success at this course. On the whole he was rather disappointing switched to handicaps last season but he resumes on a reduced mark and there's still time for him to come good. Gelded. Course winner who returns having been gelded; well treated on last year's best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (16) (25/1 -39%) Prenup |
25/1(-39%) | (16) Prenup 25/1, Enjoyed a productive first season with this yard last term, hitting the target 3 times. Return to this trip looks a good move (tried over 1¼m on final 3 runs of 2023) but she remains 7 lb above her last winning mark and, chances are, a few of these will turn out to be better treated. Three wins last season (7f-1m1f); could resume progressive ways now back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (15/2 +17%) Bopedro |
15/2(+17%) | (1) Bopedro 15/2, Winner of this race off 3 lb lower 12 months ago and also scored on the July course during the summer. Continued theme of solid efforts at Newmarket tracks when third in the Cambridgeshire during the autumn and, following a couple of spins on the AW in recent months, he should be spot-on for this. Below best on AW the last twice but has excellent record on the two Newmarket courses. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (15) (22/1 +33%) Light Speed |
22/1(+33%) | (15) Light Speed 22/1, Progressive on the AW during the winter, winning 3 on the bounce at up to 1¼m. However, his form has dipped since and will need to get back on track if he's to make an impact switched to turf in this competitive handicap. Made it 3-4 when winning on handicap debut; three lesser runs have followed; turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (80/1 -60%) Enthused |
80/1(-60%) | (14) Enthused 80/1, Mixed bag in this sphere for Joseph Parr in 2022 but managed to win twice and did really well for this yard over hurdles last year, bagging 5 handicaps. Didn't shape badly without usual cheekpieces (refitted here) back on the level at Lingfield (1m, AW) recently and this stiffer track will help. Five hurdle wins; fair 3rd on Flat (1m AW) recently but a longer trip would be preferable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (33/1 -83%) Storm Catcher |
33/1(-83%) | (2) Storm Catcher 33/1, Likeable sort who enhanced fine AW strike rate (7-16 on synthetics) when narrowly landing the odds in a Wolverhampton handicap in February. Perhaps best to draw a line through recent Newcastle effort (too fresh back from 8 weeks off) but he's opposable off this mark returned to turf in any case. Three AW wins since last August, but below par last time and now back on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (13/2 +28%) Benacre |
13/2(+28%) | (9) Benacre 13/2, Three-time winner as a juvenile. Generally below par last season, albeit he was a fine second in a 7f listed event at the Guineas meeting and, having been gelded during the winter, he resumed with a good third in the Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton (8.6f). Bold show anticipated. Good third on AW on last month's reappearance and ran well on sole previous run here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (3) (9/2 +18%) Slipofthepen |
9/2(+18%) | (3) Slipofthepen 9/2, Impressive winner of first 2 starts at Kempton prior to finishing a disappointing third when sent off odds on for a 4-runner listed event at Sandown (1m, good to soft) last May. Tactical nature of that race probably didn't help and this well-bred colt retains potential now pitched into a handicap. First run since 4-9 Listed reverse last May but very lightly raced and retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (10) (18/1 -13%) Canoodled |
18/1(-13%) | (10) Canoodled 18/1, Winner of 3 of his 7 starts at Newmarket tracks and she was a fine fourth in a 7f listed race at Ascot in October. However, that effort did nothing for her mark and she was well held in France later that month. Booking of William Buick is an obvious plus but she's opposable on balance. Career best when close Listed fourth last October; reappearance record is not compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (13) (18/1 -50%) Bajan Bandit |
18/1(-50%) | (13) Bajan Bandit 18/1, Did little wrong following a low-key reappearance last season, winning 7f handicaps at Haydock and York, and ended his campaign with a fine effort in defeat here (that was also over 7f but he has form at this trip, too). Shade more needed if he's to emerge on top but shouldn't be far away. Prominent-racer who was progressive last season; can make a bold bid if fully tuned up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (12) (22/1 -38%) Obelix |
22/1(-38%) | (12) Obelix 22/1, AW maiden winner final start at 2yrs and twice performed with credit in valuable fast-ground 1¼m handicaps last term, including on the other course here. Well held final 2 starts of 2023 but handicapper has responded in kind and he's worth a second look on debut for new connections. Down the field on final two runs for the Gosdens but makes stable debut off a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (4) (10/1 -43%) Aerion Power |
10/1(-43%) | (4) Aerion Power 10/1, Progressive during 3-y-o campaign and, having missed the majority of 2022, he proved that plenty of ability remains when making the frame all 4 starts in handicaps last season, most notably when fourth of 30 in the Royal Hunt Cup. Gelded during the winter and shouldn't be far away if fully tuned-up. Ran well in defeat on final three starts last season and gelded since; not ruled out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
AERION POWER was last seen finishing third over a mile at Ascot in September, form which has been well advertised by the winner since, and having his first start since being gelded off a 2lb higher mark, he shades preference. Slipofthepen doubtless has the ability to play a hand in a race of this nature, though he showed signs of inexperience when being turned over at short odds in a Sandown Listed race last May and he will need to be at the top of his game to score against some street-wise handicappers. Daysofourlives and Majestic both have winning form over further and they should be staying on when others have cried enough.
Not an easy puzzle to solve, with several making significant appeal. BENACRE's form dipped following a promising start to last season but he has edged down the weights as a result and there was plenty of encouragement in his reappearance third on the all-weather. He gets the nod ahead of last year's winner Bopedro and unexposed handicap debutant Slipofthepen. Aerion Power and Majestic are effective in these big-field scenarios and should be in the mix, while Bodorgan is also worth a second look.
Topweight BOPEDRO has an excellent record on the two Newmarket courses, including a win in this race last year, and he earns the vote.

1st (3) (5/2 -25%) Pilgrims King |
5/2(-25%) | (3) Pilgrims King 5/2, Career best when winning 4-runner handicap chase at Doncaster (19f, soft) on penultimate start. No disgrace in finishing second to Elleon at Haydock since and he should give another good account off the same mark. In good form over hurdles/fences of late and could be the safest option. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (7/1 +0%) Thatza Dazzler |
7/1(+0%) | (6) Thatza Dazzler 7/1, Offered little before causing a surprise to open account over fences at Ludlow (2m, heavy) in February. It would be something of an understatement to say that he failed to build on that at Bangor next time, though. Won easily off 10lb lower at Ludlow and the race a week later perhaps came too soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/2 +38%) Kap Chidley |
5/2(+38%) | (2) Kap Chidley 5/2, Made a promising return when runner-up at Uttoxeter (3m) in October and again ran well when fifth at Musselburgh the following month. Disappointed twice since though, latterly on back of wind op/fitted with tongue strap (retained here) when fourth at Plumpton. Needs to bounce back. May need better ground ideally and well beaten on either side of a wind operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (7/2 +0%) Out Of Focus |
7/2(+0%) | (1) Out Of Focus 7/2, Bumper winner who was 0-7 over hurdles but shaped well when fourth of 8 on last week's chase debut at Hereford (2m, soft) where he put in good late work from a hopeless position. Step back up trip looks a good move and he's open to improvement in this sphere. Placed off higher marks over hurdles; ran well on chase debut when 2m seemed too sharp. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (40/1 -60%) Call Me Sainte |
40/1(-60%) | (8) Call Me Sainte 40/1, Little form in a bumper/over hurdles to date and she's a long way out of the weights now switched to fences. Has struggled in her handicap hurdles and goes chasing from a long way out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (25/1 -213%) Inchagoill Lady |
25/1(-213%) | (4) Inchagoill Lady 25/1, Appeared to take a step forward when third on chase debut/second start for this yard following a wind op at Exeter (3m. heavy) last month. Ultimately well beaten over the same C&D in first-time cheekpieces 9 days ago but this drop back in trip may help and she's worth another chance. Fair third on chase debut and was running well back at Exeter until a late stumble. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (11/2 +61%) Highlander Casseul |
11/2(+61%) | (5) Highlander Casseul 11/2, Fair ex-Irish maiden hurdler who made his first impact in Britain when third of 6 in a Fontwell handicap hurdle in December. No show in 2 subsequent starts, though, and he was beaten a long way on his sole previous start in this sphere. Has ability but is becoming disappointing; well beaten when trying fences in Ireland. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Twice a winner here over hurdles, it is difficult to oppose PILGRIMS KING, who has made a strong start to racing back over fences and did well when rallying late for second in a higher grade at Haydock last month. Peter Bowen's charge is preferred to Out Of Focus, who was an eye-catcher on his chase debut at Hereford when keeping on late for fourth over 2m. Kap Chidley hasn't shown much since finishing second at Uttoxeter last October, though dropping in trip could aid his cause.
Having shaped with encouragement on his chase debut at Hereford, OUT OF FOCUS could be the answer here with improvement likely now moving back up in trip. Pilgrims King has been in good form since the turn of the year and, with Kap Chidley needing to bounce back following a couple of below par efforts, he is second choice.
Pilgrims King is solid but bOUT OF FOCUS\p could quite easily step up on an encouraging chase debut now back at 2m3f.

11/5(+45%) | (10) Three In A Row 11/5, Promising individual. 9/2, creditable fifth of 24 in handicap hurdle at this course (18.8f, soft) 12 days ago. Expected to be bang there if he stays. Can be given a definite chance based on two handicap hurdle attempts at this venue. |

9/2(+50%) | (5) Downtherefordancin 9/2, Fair maiden. Brought down in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (19.2f, heavy, 8/1) 126 days ago, making no impression when brought down last. Uneven form, out of contention when brought down at the last at Punchestown last time. |

3rd (4) (15/2 +38%) Run For Harry |
15/2(+38%) | (4) Run For Harry 15/2, Creditable sixth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20f, heavy, 10/1) 38 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Has races in him. Made the frame in two starts in bumpers, yet to manage better than sixth place over jumps. |

4th (7) (11/1 +21%) General Clermont |
11/1(+21%) | (7) General Clermont 11/1, Unreliable sort. One win from 32 NH runs. Off 6 months. Others more persuasive. Killarney victory last summer seemed to come out of the blue, twice soundly beaten since. |

5th (9) (6/1 +40%) Gabriel Ranger |
6/1(+40%) | (9) Gabriel Ranger 6/1, 12/1, good eighth of 24 in handicap hurdle at this course (18.8f, soft) 12 days ago. Has work to do. Not far off fifth-placed Three In A Row here on recent handicap debut, open to improvement. |

18/1(-29%) | (3) Brianna Lily 18/1, Latest win in hurdle at Clonmel in September. 9/4, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (24.2f, heavy) 173 days ago, tailed off when pulled up before 2 out. Back down in trip. Won a 3m handicap on heavy ground at Clonmel last autumn, an excuse for failure last time. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (11/1 +31%) Nathan Wells |
11/1(+31%) | (1) Nathan Wells 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Unseated rider in handicap hurdle (25/1) at Down Royal (20f, soft) 30 days ago. Might be better over shorter. Well beaten on first two handicap starts, hampered and unseated three out on latest. |

THREE IN A ROW might provide veteran trainer Arthur Moore with a winner. The Flemensfirth gelding has run two solid races in handicaps at this track, most recently when fifth in a big field over this trip. He's slightly up in grade on this occasion but has scope for improvement and may be able to cope with the rise in class. Iron Allen was a maiden winner over course and distance before Christmas and the runner-up has performed well in handicaps since then. Not seen since running over fences at Cork in January, he could be on a decent mark if he's on top of his game after that lay-off. Downtherefordancin went close over 2m4f at Punchestown in October. He's another returning from a break but would have claims if returning to his best.
THREE IN A ROW has more to offer and can open his account here if he stays. Iron Allen and Run For Harry are a couple of the other key players.
This looks like a good opportunity for the locally-trained THREE IN A ROW to make the breakthrough on his third handicap attempt.

1st (6) (7/1 +50%) Ten Bob Tony |
7/1(+50%) | (6) Ten Bob Tony 7/1, Well suited by a change of tactics and more testing ground when making all in novice company at Salisbury (7f, heavy) last October. Creditable 2¾ lengths sixth of 8 to Orne in Group 3 Horris Hill at Newbury a month later. Off since. Good form on soft/heavy ground last autumn but improvement is needed in this. |

2nd (2) (4/5 +47%) Boiling Point |
4/5(+47%) | (2) Boiling Point 4/5, Thirsk novice winner who was an excellent short-head second of 12 to Alyanaabi in Group 3 Somerville Tattersall Stakes over C&D (good to firm) on his final 2-y-o start. Entered in the 2000 Guineas. Very much the standard setter. Group 3 runner-up over C&D last September; leading form claims on this reappearance. |

3rd (3) (4/1 -78%) Bold Style |
4/1(-78%) | (3) Bold Style 4/1, Shamardal colt who built on a promising Wolverhampton debut when readily going one better at Chelmsford (1m) 19 days later. Looks a useful prospect for top connections. Won AW novice in December on second start; takes hike in grade but could be up to the task. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/2 -125%) Starlore |
15/2(-125%) | (5) Starlore 15/2, Bred to be smart and made a successful debut over 7f at Sandown last July. Still clear signs of inexperience when fourth in the Solario back there next time and has soft ground as an excuse for his no show in a 6f York listed on his final 2-y-o start. Remains a good prospect. Promise in light 2yo campaign; in good hands and brings potential to his 3yo season. |

33/1(-136%) | (1) Apiarist 33/1, Came good at the fourth time of asking when edging ahead late on to bag a valuable sales race in the mud at York (7f) last October. Likely to face much quicker ground conditions on return and he'll need a good chunk of improvement to go close. Won sales race at York last October; others have greater substance to their form. |

6th (4) (12/1 +33%) El Bufalo |
12/1(+33%) | (4) El Bufalo 12/1, Had 2 outings over 5f at the end of 2023, finishing second on debut before scoring by 3 lengths at Wolverhampton just before Christmas. Steps up 2f in trip now switching to turf on return. Has plenty to find on form but a 2000 Guineas entry suggests he's well regarded. Up in trip and in grade but he impressed for his 5f AW win; stable a rising force. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
In what should be an informative affair with a view to the first Classic of the season, BOILING POINT may prove too hot for these rivals. Roger Varian's charge kicked clear of the field before being caught in the shadows of the post in a Group 3 over C&D in September, and it would be no surprise if he were to go one place better. Bold Style impressed when scoring over a mile at Chelmsford in December and he warrants respect for the in-form Charlie Appleby yard, while the more experienced Ten Bob Tony also commands attention.
BOILING POINT sets the bar quite high on his near miss in a C&D Group 3 last autumn and gets the vote. Starlore can easily be forgiven his final run at 2 and displayed plenty of promise prior to that so he's feared most ahead of Bold Style.
The Roger Varian-trained BOILING POINT went very close in a Group 3 over C&D last September and sets a strong standard.

2/1(+0%) | (7) Wide To West 2/1, Doesn't look one for maximum faith but has finished runner-up in handicap chases in the mud at Leicester and Southwell under Sean Bowen since blinkers have gone on (also tongue tied at Southwell). Blinkered and posted good second placings at Leicester/Southwell; big shout eased 1lb. |

7/2(-17%) | (4) Frankie Faulkner 7/2, Maiden hurdle winner at Newton Abbot last summer. Consistent over fences; ran poorly over hurdles at Stratford since but can bounce back. |

8/1(-100%) | (1) Grizzly James 8/1, Won at Hereford last April. Has reached the frame 3 times in 2024 but he needs to shrug off a disappointing run (let down by jumping) back at Hereford 3 weeks ago. Made mistakes when last of eight in Hereford h'cap chase 20 days ago; others appeal more. |

10/3(+52%) | (2) That'll Be The Day 10/3, Maiden hurdle winner on Rules debut in Ireland back in March 2021 but little impact since, finishing a well-held fourth in Chepstow handicap chase on latest start 52 days ago. Is 0-8 over fences and only a fair fourth at Chepstow latest; needs to take step forward. |

|PU| (3) (14/1 -75%) The Lion Dancer |
14/1(-75%) | (3) The Lion Dancer 14/1, Fifth chase success when seeing off 11 rivals at Uttoxeter (3m, heavy) in December 2022 (only start of last season) but has struggled on all 3 outings this term. Given a chance by the handicapper as a result but need to see more. C&D winner but he's offered little in his three outings this term; he's hard to warm to. |

|PU| (5) (33/1 -230%) Drumlees Pet |
33/1(-230%) | (5) Drumlees Pet 33/1, Well held in bumpers/novice hurdles but was placed in points at the start of her career and could make more of an impact now handicap chasing. Worth a betting check. Offered little hurdling but placed in points so she is no forlorn hope now chasing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WIDE TO WEST was one of only two to finish in a gruelling contest at Southwell last month and, as long as he is over those exertions, this looks like an ideal opportunity for the seven-year-old to get off the mark. Grizzly James is one to be interested in despite the recent form of his stable, while Frankie Faulkner cannot be ruled out either if bouncing back to the form that saw him finish an encouraging third at Musselburgh on his penultimate start.
A lesser effort over hurdles last time needs forgiving but FRANKIE FAULKNER has dipped to a good mark judged on the form he was showing over fences in the autumn and might prove the answer for last year's winning yard. Wide to West has been runner-up the last twice and should figure promisingly again, while Grizzly James could also have a say if bouncing back from his latest Hereford no show.
This looks a good opportunity for WIDE TO WEST (nap) to get off the mark after posting two second placings since wearing blinkers.

Paul Townend rode COILLTE ARIS for the first time in a 2m handicap at this venue earlier in the month and takes the mount again. Fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time on that occasion, the Soldier Of Fortune mare kept on steadily to take fourth spot in a big field and stepping up in trip should be to her advantage. That was her first run since January so she's entitled to improve for the outing. Shana Cloon has been most consistent in similar contests without managing to get her head in front. Beaten less than a length at Cork last time, she continues to edge up in the ratings but looks likely to go close again. The Big Cloud made the breakthrough over 2m at Limerick last week and turns out again quickly under a mandatory penalty. She has placed form over this trip and has to enter calculations.
REBEL COWGIRL impressed with the way she travelled when second on her Down Royal handicap debut last month and can build on that promise and go one better now. Second choice is Coillte Aris who shaped as if this return to further would suit when fourth on her 2m course handicap debut and it's interesting that Paul Townend retains the ride. Shana Cloon and Gold Haven were second and third in the same race at Cork last month and should also have a say.
The Townend touch triggered something better from COILLTE ARIS here 12 days ago and this longer trip is likely to benefit.

6th (10) (12/1 -167%) Skukuza |
12/1(-167%) | (10) Skukuza 12/1, Posted fairly-useful form when runner-up on Newbury debut (7f) last summer. Below that level when third at Yarmouth the following month but remains with potential. Lots of promise in both runs at two and perhaps beaten by good horses the last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (6/1 +14%) Manhattan Mirage |
6/1(+14%) | (6) Manhattan Mirage 6/1, Well-bred sort who was placed both starts as a juvenile for Alice Haynes and took a step forward on return/yard debut when second of 7 in minor event at Doncaster (7f, soft) 19 days ago, clear of rest. Not taken lightly, Strong form claims and he has an edge in experience over all of today's rivals. |

8th (9) (28/1 -56%) Primo Lara |
28/1(-56%) | (9) Primo Lara 28/1, Posted encouraging fourth on debut at Yarmouth (7f) in September but failed to land the odds in 3-runner Leicester maiden next time and faces much stiffer opposition here. Gelded since last run. Beaten twice last season but returns now gelded and there's still plenty of upside. |

300/1(-355%) | (2) Gowareagle 300/1, Fair form at best in a couple of starts this year and looks one for handicaps down the line. Close third over 6f on the Lingfield AW in February but then only fifth at Wolverhampton. |

Fetched 100,000gns as a yearling but only 8,000gns at three; gelded ahead of debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
In what looks a trappy affair on paper, the tentative vote goes to MANHATTAN MIRAGE. He readily pulled clear with the eventual winner when finishing second over 7f at Doncaster last month and that match-fitness can stand him in good stead against some less exposed rivals. Creative Story also merits consideration after finishing second behind a subsequent winner on his debut over a mile at Kempton in February, while Kikkuli completes the shortlist on the evidence of his fine runner-up effort over C&D when last seen in November.
Frankel's half-brother KIKKULI made a fine impression on his debut here last November and is fancied to get off the mark at the second attempt. Creative Story and Manhattan Mirage are feared most in what should prove an informative contest.
There's lots to like about the potential of KIKKULI, a half-brother to Frankel whose debut effort here in November looks good now.

1st (1) (11/4 -38%) Panjari |
11/4(-38%) | (1) Panjari 11/4, Useful on Flat in Germany and has been quick in getting the hang of hurdling, cheekpieces fitted when readily landing 6-runner novice at Musselburgh (15.6f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Struggled in Dovecote at Kempton next time but this is more realistic. Beat only one in Kempton Grade 2 last time but no surprise to see him bounce back here. |

2nd (2) (6/4 +57%) Dartmoor Pirate |
6/4(+57%) | (2) Dartmoor Pirate 6/4, Winning hurdle debut at Wincanton (15f, heavy) in December and better form in defeat since, notably his excellent fourth of 17 in very competitive EBF Final at Sandown 5 weeks ago, looking well suited by the step up to 2½m. Strong claims. Fine fourth of 17 in Sandown h'cap last time; form franked so a player in novice company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (9/2 -100%) Patriotik |
9/2(-100%) | (4) Patriotik 9/2, Won a 2-finisher point in Ireland and stepped up on debut when landing a course novice readily last time. Drop back in trip shouldn't be an issue, so obvious player. Readily got off the mark here 16 days ago; must enter calculations with more to come. |

4th (5) (20/1 -43%) Risk De Pluie |
20/1(-43%) | (5) Risk De Pluie 20/1, Winning Irish pointer who followed suit in 2m3f novice at Fontwell on Rules debut in January. Yet to build on that and has something to find. Won at Fontwell but he's failed to build on it in two outings since; tongue tied added. |

5th (6) (125/1 -150%) Mount Washington |
125/1(-150%) | (6) Mount Washington 125/1, Showed a fair level of ability when third on first of 2 runs in bumpers but no encouragement so far as a hurdler (well behind Patriotik here last time). Hasn't threatened in his two runs over hurdles; he's the sort to do better in due course. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (4/1 +0%) Denemethy |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Denemethy 4/1, Irish point winner who was runner-up on bumper debut in November. Much better effort over hurdles when landing novice easily at Wincanton 20 days ago and deserves respect under a penalty. Easily won Wincanton novice 20 days ago; has more to offer; merits serious consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (250/1 -525%) Miss Arvico |
250/1(-525%) | (7) Miss Arvico 250/1, Arvico mare. Dam multiple point winner. Doesn't make much appeal on paper. Arvico mare; the market can guide on her belated debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DENEMETHY impressed when scoring with consummate ease over 1m7f at Wincanton on his first start after wind surgery last month, and it would be no surprise if Fergal O'Brien's charge were to bring up the double. If Panjari returns to the sort of form which saw him run out a comfortable winner over 2m at Musselburgh on his penultimate start, he may emerge as the main danger, but inconsistency continues to be the main concern with him. Dartmoor Pirate completes the shortlist.
DARTMOOR PIRATE improved when fourth in a competitive handicap at Sandown last time and he's worth a chance to double his tally back in novice company/trip for all that Patriotik and Panjari are formidable dangers. Last-time-out winner Denemethy is also open to more progress.
Preference is for DARTMOOR PIRATE who reverts to novice company after a fine fourth in a big-field Sandown handicap (form franked).

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CHOSEN SHANT is a longstanding maiden but has run well several times at this venue and would be a deserving winner. Ciaran Murphy's mare was runner-up in big-field contests here over 2m on her latest two starts and may be suited by stepping back up in trip. Ladyeze Man went down by only a neck on his handicap debut over this trip at Cork in the autumn. Running for the first time since then, he was down the field at this venue earlier in the month but should be sharper for that comeback run and stepping back up in trip will help. King Kali attracted market support and ran a good race on handicap debut over course and distance earlier in the month when finishing sixth in a big field and is another that is open to improvement.
EARLY ARRIVAL returned to form when second in a big-field handicap here recently and he is taken to go one better this time. Chosen Shant is 0-20 over hurdles but has performed with credit at this course the last twice and he is next on the list ahead of Rideau Canal, who also put in a good shift here on his latest start but that was over a year ago. A Mere Bagatelle and The Niffler are both worth considering, too.
It probably makes sense to focus on those who were competitive last time out and CHOSEN SHANT is regularly knocking on the door.

1st (4) (3/1 +14%) Brunel Nation |
3/1(+14%) | (4) Brunel Nation 3/1, Strong in the betting and produced a much improved performance when winning 12-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) 18 days ago. Well on top at the finish there and rates as shortlist material back on turf despite 9 lb rise. Improved to win easily at Chelmsford last time; 9lb higher but respected for in-form yard. |

3rd (7) (20/1 -150%) Indivar |
20/1(-150%) | (7) Indivar 20/1, Didn't immediately kick on from his debut second at Ayr but produced a much improved performance to get off the mark in an 11-runner nursery (17/2) at Redcar (6f, good to firm). Remains of interest making seasonal comeback from a 4 lb higher mark. Best efforts last year on fast ground; a player on return provided the ground doesn't ease. |

4th (9) (33/1 -175%) Bonaventure |
33/1(-175%) | (9) Bonaventure 33/1, Fourth in a trio of all-weather maiden/novice events this winter, shaping as if a return to 7f would suit when plugging on at Lingfield (6f, AW) 25 days ago. Seemingly brought along with handicaps in mind and he's interesting back up in trip for handicap debut. Fourth in three starts on the AW this year; this looks a tough ask on handicap/turf debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (28/1 -460%) The Bitter Moose |
28/1(-460%) | (6) The Bitter Moose 28/1, Failed to win from 6 attempts on turf last season but improved a chunk when scoring at Wolverhampton in October before following up at Lingfield 6 weeks later. Value for more than the winning margin last time and still looks on a good mark if able to translate his improvement back to turf. Ended last year with two wins on the AW; shortlisted if he can do it back on turf. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (8/1 -14%) Only In Jakarta |
8/1(-14%) | (2) Only In Jakarta 8/1, Down the field at Haydock on debut but showed promise when runner-up at Thirsk on his next 2 outings and put his experience to good use when scoring in a Newcastle novice (7.1f) 85 days ago. Respected handicap newcomer. Off for three months since winning a Newcastle novice (7f); probably needs to improve. |

7th (5) (11/2 +21%) Double Jump |
11/2(+21%) | (5) Double Jump 11/2, Proved a different proposition switched to a nursery when landing a 7-runner event at Doncaster (7f, good to soft) in September. Bred to be useful and remains unexposed, so can't be discounted from 4 lb higher mark. 4lb higher than when winning a Doncaster nursery last September; probably more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (10/1 +29%) Phoenix Duchess |
10/1(+29%) | (8) Phoenix Duchess 10/1, Third in a decent maiden on the July Course here last summer and wasn't disgraced when filling the same position in a nursery (7f, good to firm, 13/2) there the following month. Others may have more scope from their marks, however. 0-5 and will need to hit the ground running to take this against previous winners. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (12/1 -50%) Secret Bid |
12/1(-50%) | (3) Secret Bid 12/1, Off the mark at the third attempt when just holding on in an 11-runner maiden at Wolverhampton (7.2f) in October. Not seen since and others are perhaps open to more improvement on handicap debut. Off six months since winning at Wolverhampton; needs to improve again on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|DQ| (1) (15/8 +46%) Eye Of Dubai |
15/8(+46%) | (1) Eye Of Dubai 15/8, Promise amidst greenness when runner-up at Chester and Redcar as a juvenile and didn't need to improve to land a Catterick minor event (7f, heavy, 10/11) in comfortable fashion 13 days ago. Remains with potential now handicapping. Won easily on Catterick return but this won't be easy under top weight on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Richard Hughes stable can do little wrong at present and his BRUNEL NATION looks one to keep on side following a comfortable success over 6f at Chelmsford last month. A 9lb rise may appear harsh, but the son of Sioux Nation should improve for going back up in trip and is narrowly preferred to top-weight Eye Of Dubai, who makes his handicap bow following an easy success at Catterick on heavy ground. The Bitter Moose arrives on a hat-trick and is likely to be thereabouts, along with the returning Double Jump and Indivar.
The useful-looking BRUNEL NATION took a sizeable step forward when scoring at Chelmsford 3 weeks ago and Richard Hughes' gelding is fancied to take advantage of his race fitness to follow up. Eye of Dubai enters handicaps on a fair looking mark and could prove the main danger, whilst Bonaventure also strikes as one who should prove capable of better in this sphere.
The vote goes to BRUNEL NATION who improved plenty when winning easily at Chelmsford last month. He can build on that.

5/1(+50%) | (2) Minella Blueway 5/1, Winning Irish pointer who got off the mark under Rules when easily opening his account in a Chepstow maiden (19.5f) in December. Not really built on that, however, and others more appealing. Maiden winner who has been running in stronger handicaps than this the last twice. |

3rd (5) (8/1 -78%) Longshanks |
8/1(-78%) | (5) Longshanks 8/1, Last season was a write-off but he scored twice in points in November and has been in good form back hurdling this year, making the frame 3 times at Exeter. Cheekpieces back on. Not taken lightly. Looks on the right sort of mark and a test of this nature is what he wants. |

Lightly raced; returned from a break to push the fav close in a 2m3f handicap at Chepstow. |

10/1(-43%) | (4) Thunderclap 10/1, Back to winning ways at Kempton (21f) in February and not disgraced when seventh in stronger contest over same C&D 31 days ago. Others look better treated, though. Downgraded; has won on heavy; if he can last home over this far then he won't be far away. |

5/1(+9%) | (7) Fevertre 5/1, Returned to form, in first-time cheekpieces, when opening his account at Carlisle (25f, heavy) in February and backed that up with good second of 5 in handicap hurdle at Hexham (23.3f, heavy) 33 days ago, clear of rest. Remains feasibly treated and must enter calculations. This trip on deep ground is right up his alley; looks sure to be involved. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MAHLAND has hit the crossbar on his last couple of starts, and he gets the vote to gain a well-deserved victory. Mel Rowley's charge found himself tapped for toe at a crucial stage before staying on into second over an extended 2m5f at Exeter last month and, nudged up 3lb back up to 3m, he edges preference. Better can be expected from Thunderclap, who finished down the field over 2m5f at Kempton in a stronger race than this most recently, while the reapplication of cheekpieces can help Longshanks.
MAHLAND has few miles on the clock and made an encouraging switch to handicapping at Exeter last month. He can get off the mark. Fevertre and Longshanks should also go well.
This is competitive and open. MAHLAND is a different proposition now than when behind Minella Blueway in a maiden.

25/1(+24%) | (6) Peripeteia 25/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in October. 66/1, tenth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f). Others make greater appeal after 112 days off. Wins come after a recent outing in the second half of the year; yard also runs Gastronomy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (14/1 -40%) Kiss My Face |
14/1(-40%) | (8) Kiss My Face 14/1, Three wins from 9 runs last year. Creditable 4¼ lengths fourth of 8 to Heatherdown Hero in handicap at this course (16.2f, 5/1) 44 days ago. Back to a potentially lenient mark but drop back in trip doesn't rate as an obvious plus. Back on a handy mark but his three Flat wins last spring came over 2m; visor missing too. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (11/2 -10%) Extinction |
11/2(-10%) | (5) Extinction 11/2, Very lightly raced for his age and produced his best effort in a handicap when second of 14 in handicap (12.1f) 21 days ago. Claims. Remains low mileage and showed this trip within range latest; goes on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (13/2 +19%) Heatherdown Hero |
13/2(+19%) | (9) Heatherdown Hero 13/2, Course winner. Latest win here in March. 14/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Catterick (12.1f, heavy) 13 days ago, pulling hard after missing break. Likely to prefer this test and isn't discounted. Will be happier now back on Tapeta having reportedly been unsuited by heavy turf latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (6/1 -200%) Midnight Lion |
6/1(-200%) | (1) Midnight Lion 6/1, One win from 3 runs last year. 15/2, won 12-runner handicap at this course (10.2f) 8 days ago, staying on well. Carries penalty. Back up in trip. Remains well treated on old form and should go well again. Won't mind going back up in distance and holds fair claims under a 5lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (17/2 +29%) Carlton |
17/2(+29%) | (4) Carlton 17/2, C&D winner here in January. Tenth of 11 in handicap at Catterick (12.1f, heavy, 9/1) 13 days ago. Others preferred. Pulled hard and got stuck in the mud back from a break latest; needs to do much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (125/1 -150%) Best Guess |
125/1(-150%) | (10) Best Guess 125/1, 150/1, 9¼ lengths sixth of 8 to Heatherdown Hero in handicap at this course (16.2f) 44 days ago. Back down in trip. Something to find on form. Ex-Irish maiden; again a three-figure price when behind two of these over 2m here latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
After not getting home over the extended 2m here, MIDNIGHT LION relished the drop back in trip when staying on to win well over 1m2f at this venue last week and this extra yardage should be no issue on that evidence. A 5lb penalty puts Iain Jardine's gelding on a mark of 67 for his double bid, but he was rated 81 after landing a Goodwood maiden last summer and still looks feasibly treated. Gastronomy was only denied by a neck over this C&D last Monday and he appears to be the main threat off the same mark, although Extinction is also respected on the back of a near-miss at Southwell.
GASTRONOMY has slipped in the weights since joining Philip Kirby and shaped encouragingly here last week, going down only to a better positioned rival, so just gets the verdict over the penalised Midnight Lion. Extinction can complete the placings.
Unexposed over this trip, EXTINCTION's comeback second three weeks ago has worked out well since. Gastronomy is next best.

1st (1) (9/2 -50%) Blue Mosque |
9/2(-50%) | (1) Blue Mosque 9/2, Berkshire filly. Half-sister to useful hurdler/chase winner Sixshooter and bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler She's A Star. Dam maiden hurdler (stayed 3m). Likely type. Half-sister to a pair of useful performers for this stable, Sixshooter and She's A Star. |

2nd (2) (5/4 +38%) Crescent Moon |
5/4(+38%) | (2) Crescent Moon 5/4, Spanish Moon filly. Half-sister to French 9.5f/1¼m winner Ursus. Dam French 19f hurdle winner, also 1½m winner on Flat. Runner-up sole start in points (Feb 25). One to consider. Second in a point-to-point in February for this rider, experience should be an asset. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (14/1 -75%) Leloopa |
14/1(-75%) | (6) Leloopa 14/1, 66/1, fourth of 6 in bumper at Thurles (15.9f, heavy) on NH debut 31 days ago, never on terms. Vulnerable to newcomers. Failed to make much impression when fourth in a six-runner bumper at Thurles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/1 +36%) Kilbarry Ace |
9/1(+36%) | (5) Kilbarry Ace 9/1, 9/2, sixth of 8 in bumper at Leopardstown (16f, soft) on NH debut 44 days ago. Should do better in time. Remote sixth of eight on debut at Leopardstown early last month, not a big price then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (12/1 -50%) Miss Lia |
12/1(-50%) | (7) Miss Lia 12/1, Califet filly. Dam, unraced, closely related to smart hurdler (stayed 21f) City Island. Market may prove an accurate indicator for this newcomer. First foaL, unraced dam closely related to Ballymore winner City Island, good 5lb claimer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (9/1 -29%) Dream On Baby |
9/1(-29%) | (4) Dream On Baby 9/1, Walk In The Park filly out of bumper/fair 3m hurdle winner, closely related to smart hurdler/chaser (winner up to 3m) Wichita Lineman and half-sister to smart bumper winner/top-class hurdler (stayed 3m) Rhinestone Cowboy. Good pedigree and worth a look. Second foal, dam bumper/hurdle winner closely related to the talented Wichita Lineman. |

7th (3) (5/1 +17%) Dee's Getaway |
5/1(+17%) | (3) Dee's Getaway 5/1, €42,000 3-y-o, Getaway filly. Dam bumper/2½m hurdle winner, half-sister to useful hurdle winner/top-class chaser around 2m Ferny Hollow. Dam a half-sister to Grade 1 bumper/chase winner Ferny Hollow, interesting prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (28/1 -100%) Strategic Power |
28/1(-100%) | (8) Strategic Power 28/1, Elusive Pimpernel filly. Dam fair 2m hurdle winner (stayed 2½m), also 10.7f winner who stayed 2m on Flat. Decent pedigree though not as striking as that of some of her opponents. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Noel Meade's Flat horses are in decent nick and he has a chance of landing this bumper with the debutant BLUE MOSQUE who is interesting on pedigree. The daughter of Berkshire is related to a couple of useful performers for the Meade yard in Sixshooter and She's A Star, both of which were successful in bumpers. Crescent Moon is from a useful French family and was ridden by Declan Lavery when finishing runner-up in a point-to point at Lisronagh in February. She has since switched from Ian Donoghue's yard to Gavin Cromwell and looks a leading contender. Dee's Getaway, out of a bumper-winning half-sister to Ferny Hollow, cost 42,000 Euros as a three-year-old and the booking of Finny Maguire catches the eye. Dream On Baby, out of a bumper winner from the family of Wichita Lineman and Rhinestone Cowboy, is another noteworthy newcomer.
Quite a few interesting ones here, with CRESCENT MOON, Blue Mosque and Dream On Baby appealing newcomers and selected as the three against the field before market clues.
The experience gained by CRESCENT MOON in a point-to-point may prove crucial in a race involving several well-related fillies

1st (7) (9/2 +10%) Our Havana |
9/2(+10%) | (7) Our Havana 9/2, Progressive in novice/maiden company, looking likely winner before hanging right straight when second at Chester (7f, soft) in September. Better than result (raced freely) when fourth on nursery debut at Haydock (7f) final start. Gelded ahead of return and likely he can do better this term. Pleasing qualifying runs before getting stuck in the mud on h'cap debut; now gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (11/1 -230%) Pressure's On |
11/1(-230%) | (5) Pressure's On 11/1, Son of Land Force who was well suited by step up to 7f (also gelded) when seeing off 12-rivals in a Chelmsford novice in October. That may not prove his limit and Ryan Moore an eye-catching booking on return from 6 months off. Won his only previous start over 7f in an AW novice; might do better again at three. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (8/1 +20%) Rating |
8/1(+20%) | (6) Rating 8/1, Profitable filly who remains a maiden following 7 attempts but backed up previous best when third of 9 in handicap at Epsom (7f) in October. Eased 1 lb ahead of return and the betting may prove a useful guide back from 6 months off. Twice placed in nurseries; had seven runs and others might be open to greater improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/4 +25%) Spun To Gold |
9/4(+25%) | (3) Spun To Gold 9/4, Justify colt who knuckled down well when opening his account at the third attempt in a Chelmsford maiden (7f) when last seen in October. Boasts a fine pedigree and he's very much the type to do better again now handicapping as a 3-y-o. Respected. Beat subsequent winners at Chelmsford and appeals as the type to do well as a 3yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (4/1 +50%) Runaround Sioux |
4/1(+50%) | (9) Runaround Sioux 4/1, Improved when winning 8-runner event on handicap bow at Chelmsford in February, overcoming positional bias. Lines up here following a creditable fourth back at that venue (6f) 18 days ago and she's one to consider back on turf, particularly if sharpening up her starts. 6f AW winner and inconvenienced by slow starts since then, over 6f and 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (10/1 +9%) Flag Of St George |
10/1(+9%) | (1) Flag Of St George 10/1, Opened account over 6f here last spring and improved on that form when second on nursery debut at Windsor (6f) in July. Proved rather disappointing next 2 starts so needs to hit the ground running back from 8 months off/following wind surgery. Best form over shorter but he's had wind surgery and he retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (10/1 -54%) Aljezur |
10/1(-54%) | (2) Aljezur 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden who was well supported back from 5 months off and matched pick of his 2-y-o form when third in a Kempton maiden (7f) in January. Over faced at listed level on latest outing 6 weeks ago but gelded subsequently and return to handicaps much more suitable. Ran well in first four races and can be excused his last two defeats. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (25/1 -150%) Flag Carrier |
25/1(-150%) | (4) Flag Carrier 25/1, Opened his account despite doing plenty wrong at Kempton (7f) in January. However, proved easy to back and ran poorly starting out for new yard when eighth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (7f) 26 days ago. Others preferred back on turf. Better known for AW exploits and yet was down the field last time at Southwell. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (25/1 -56%) Empire Of Light |
25/1(-56%) | (8) Empire Of Light 25/1, Built on debut effort when winning 9-runner novice here (6f) last June. However, went the wrong way in handful of starts thereafter, including when last of 5 in a first-time visor at Catterick (7f) in October. Gelded ahead of return/yard debut and the market should prove a useful guide. Failed to progress last season and sold on for 16,000gns; gelded during his absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A revelation when stepped up to this distance at Chelmsford last October, PRESSURE'S ON was value for much more than the winning margin suggests when hanging left inside the final furlong that day and a 2lb rise could prove lenient. The booking of Ryan Moore is another plus and he may have just enough to see off the well-bred Spun To Gold, who was last seen winning a Chelmsford maiden over this trip in October and must be of interest from a mark of 79 on his handicap debut. Course winner Flag Of St George and Our Havana are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
SPUN TO GOLD quickly got back on track when winning a 5-runner maiden at Chelmsford in October and with his pedigree suggesting he will go on improving this year, Andrew Balding's charge makes a good deal of appeal on return/handicap debut. Pressure's On, a winner on his final start as a 2-y-o, is also worth a look partnered by Ryan Moore. Runaround Sioux and Our Havana are others to note.
The two likeliest improvers are the lightly raced OUR HAVANA and Spun To Gold. Richard Fahey's charge edges preference.

1st (2) (6/5 +47%) As Legends Have It |
6/5(+47%) | (2) As Legends Have It 6/5, Third both starts in Irish points last spring 2023 and made a promising start under Rules when finding just one too good in a 7-runner bumper at Stratford (16.3f, heavy). Obvious claims. Shaped well when second in bumper at Stratford; can build on it here so very good claims. |

2nd (3) (11/1 -83%) Boyles Hill |
11/1(-83%) | (3) Boyles Hill 11/1, Fetched £17,500 after landing a maiden point at the second attempt in February. Market should point the way in terms of expectations surrounding him on this hurdles debut. Won Irish point in February; changed hands for £17,500 since and merits plenty of respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (2/1 -45%) Mulinas |
2/1(-45%) | (5) Mulinas 2/1, £170,000 4-y-o who was a winner of his sole start between the flags and went down narrowly when second in a 4-runner bumper at Chepstow (2m, heavy) on Rules debut last month. Major player. Promising second in Chepstow bumper; he's open to improvement and firmly in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (14/1 +0%) Andy Amo |
14/1(+0%) | (1) Andy Amo 14/1, Brother to fair 2m hurdle winner Valens Bruyee. Placed in bumpers at Chepstow and over this C&D but the early indications are that he lacks the required pace to win a race of this type and is probably more one for the longer term. Fair form shown when third in bumpers at Chepstow and over C&D; more needed though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (50/1 -355%) Lake's Aventurine |
50/1(-355%) | (6) Lake's Aventurine 50/1, Half-sister to 3 winners, including fairly useful French 2m/2¼m hurdle winner Lake's Maker. Showed some ability when fourth of 13 on debut in a Hereford bumper (16.2f, soft) but will need to step up on that if she's to take this. Fourth in bumper at Hereford last month; she needs to take a step forward now though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (6/1 +8%) Johnny Boy |
6/1(+8%) | (4) Johnny Boy 6/1, Out of a 17f/19f. hurdle/chase winner in France, herself a sister to French hurdler/chaser (2¼m-21f winner) Still Loving You and French hurdler/chaser (2m-2¼m winner) Toi Et Le Soleil. Interesting to see which way he goes in the betting. In excellent hands so this son of Kapgarde rates an interesting newcomer. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Point-to-point winner MULINAS was sent off a warm order when finishing second on his Rules debut at Chepstow and the suspicion is Paul Nicholls' charge wasn't seen to best effect in that tactically-run affair. He gets the vote to go one place better this time around. As Legends Have It should strip fitter for his second in a Stratford bumper last month and can give the selection most to think about for the in-form Ben Pauling team. 37,000-euro purchase Johnny Boy also warrants respect.
It's likely that AS LEGENDS HAVE IT and Mulinas will come to the fore in this bumper. They both hit the crossbar on their respective Rules debuts at Stratford and Chepstow, and the former is marginally preferred. Newcomer Johnny Boy will be of interest if the market vibes are positive, while point winner Boyles Hill is by no means ruled out.
A few with chances but Ben Pauling's AS LEGENDS HAVE IT made a promising bumper debut when second at Stratford and can go one better.

4/1(+71%) | (7) Federated 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 9 on handicap debut (33/1) at Kempton (7f) 41 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Early days but could only consider if the betting suggests that a lot better is expected this time. Well related; this trip should be fine on pedigree; market support would look significant. |

2nd (9) (6/1 +50%) Humble Spark |
6/1(+50%) | (9) Humble Spark 6/1, Modest maiden. 9/1, eighth of 10 in C&D handicap 24 days ago but had been runner-up over 12.5f here prior to that. Only run nine times and it's too soon to write him off but his yard has been quiet of late. |

3rd (1) (5/1 -82%) We Still Believe |
5/1(-82%) | (1) We Still Believe 5/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 17 runs last year. 5/1, creditable fourth of 12 in C&D handicap 8 days ago. Expected to be bang there. Not much wiggle room off this mark but he's capable if more amenable than last Monday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (10/1 -25%) Oscar Doodle |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Oscar Doodle 10/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 13 runs last year. Third over hurdles when last seen in February. More than capable off this mark. Course regular who often pulls hard; there's no room for manoeuvre off this mark anyway. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (14/1 -100%) Hot Team |
14/1(-100%) | (11) Hot Team 14/1, C&D winner. Twenty runs since last win in 2023. Good third of 11 in handicap (20/1) at Catterick (1½m, heavy) 13 days ago. Not taken lightly. One of his better efforts on heavy turf last time but wants a good test over this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (22/1 +45%) Emer Elysees |
22/1(+45%) | (6) Emer Elysees 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. 20/1, ninth of 10 on C&D handicap debut 24 days ago. Others are more obvious. No better on her handicap debut over C&D last time, when again easy to back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (13/2 -18%) Scarriff |
13/2(-18%) | (12) Scarriff 13/2, Only her second outing for this stable when second of 12 in C&D handicap 8 days ago. Player if able to build on that. Much more like it over C&D last Monday; holds leading claims if that's taken at face value. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (16/1 -167%) Martin's Brig |
16/1(-167%) | (8) Martin's Brig 16/1, Course winner. 9/2, respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at this course (7f) 22 days ago. Should go well if seeing out the much longer trip. Arrives in decent nick but the handicapper knows where he is and stamina is a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (14/1 -75%) Miss Harmony |
14/1(-75%) | (3) Miss Harmony 14/1, Won over this trip on AW at Lingfield last spring. Some creditable efforts on turf later in the year. Off since a lesser run at Brighton in September. Feasibly handicapped if ready to roll after break. Polytrack winner off 2lb higher last spring; interesting to see how she goes in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (12/1 -20%) Loom Large |
12/1(-20%) | (2) Loom Large 12/1, C&D winner. Last of 14 in handicap at Southwell (11f, 11/1) 16 days ago but was a respectable fifth over C&D prior to that. Never been consistent and there's been more bad than good in four runs back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) (33/1 -106%) Frankfreya |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Frankfreya 33/1, Won over 1¼m on AW at Chelmsford for Roger Teal last summer but well held there on recent reappearance for new trainer Darryll Holland. Could only consider if backed. Low-key comeback for his new yard; is relatively unexposed still but has a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (9/1 +25%) Tables Turned |
9/1(+25%) | (10) Tables Turned 9/1, Remains a maiden after 16 starts. 5/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (1½m) 14 days ago, met some trouble. Others more persuasive. Has the ability to win off this mark if things fall right but has had 16 cracks at it now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
We Still Believe has been running well in defeat and should have his say again, but he has no margin for error off top weight and was behind the reopposing Scarriff (second) when fourth over this C&D last week. MARTIN'S BRIG may be better treated at present and he is taken to record a second course victory. Having only gone up 2lb for a 1m success here last month, he found 7f too sharp last time and should be much better suited by this longer trip.
WE STILL BELIEVE has a pretty solid record over this C&D and is taken to turn the tables on Scarriff, who was ahead of him in second over C&D last week. Hot Team ran well at Catterick a couple of weeks ago and is also on the shortlist along with Martin's Brig, who goes well here but has stamina to prove over this distance.
Money for Federated would be interesting but otherwise SCARRIFF is given the chance to build on last Monday's big-priced second.

10/1(+9%) | (8) Star Zinc 10/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in February. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 10/3) 21 days ago, left poorly placed. Could feature if the race is run to suit. Two C&D wins since November but not at his best the last twice; needs to get back on track. |

18/1(+10%) | (9) High Velocity 18/1, Course winner. Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap (25/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 19 days ago. Has work to do. 8lb below his last winning mark, but well beaten in only previous attempt over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (12/1 -140%) Bicep |
12/1(-140%) | (5) Bicep 12/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in October. 9/1, good second of 10 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 19 days ago, running on. Solid claims. C&D winner last October and just beaten on Southwell return last month; high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) (100/1 -150%) Vixey |
100/1(-150%) | (14) Vixey 100/1, First run since leaving Chris Fairhurst when seventh of 8 in handicap (16/1) at this course (6f) 39 days ago. Something to find on form. 7f turf winner last summer, but well held on stable debut/return last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (10) (66/1 -65%) Matty Too |
66/1(-65%) | (10) Matty Too 66/1, 25/1, first run since leaving Ed Dunlop when last of 10 in handicap at this course (8f) 34 days ago. Visor back on. Others have achieved more. Last of ten on debut for this yard here last month; hard to recommend after that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ABRUZZO MIA only missed out on a C&D double by a neck when runner-up last time and although he has gone up 2lb for that effort, the form has been boosted by the fourth and sixth winning since. The Michael Dods-trained gelding looks set for another bold bid, but Waiting All Night should pose a big threat if coming on for an encouraging third at Southwell on his seasonal reappearance three weeks ago. Bicep also returned with a promising effort at that same venue and he could improve for that pipe-opener too.
PRAIRIE FALCON is well treated on his best form and shaped well when second over C&D last time, so he's preferred to Bicep, who also only found one too good on his latest outing. Abruzzio Mia, a stablemate of the selection, is another one to consider.
The selection is BICEP who has winning form over C&D and went close on his reappearance at Southwell last month.

Doodlebug |
(5) (125/1 -150%)125/1(-150%) | (5) Doodlebug 125/1, 34,000 gns yearling, Mehmas gelding. Dam, runner-up at 2m, half-sister to useful 2-y-o 1m winner Brutal. Wears tongue strap. Yard's newcomers usually better for a run. Dam finished second over 2m in Ireland, so he wouldn't be bred for sprinting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) (10/11 +39%) Dyrholaey |
10/11(+39%) | (1) Dyrholaey 10/11, €55,000 2-y-o, City Light colt. Successful on debut at Chelmsford (6f) in January and duly took a step forward to maintain his 100% record with a make-all victory at Wolverhampton (6f) 6 weeks ago. This rates that bit tougher but well worth considering again. Needs more again under the penalties and down in trip but he could well be up to the job. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (5/1 -43%) Queen's Guard |
5/1(-43%) | (3) Queen's Guard 5/1, Promising type who improved markedly on debut form when winning 9-runner maiden at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm) in fairly taking fashion in August, going clear inside final 1f. Very much the type to do better again as a 3-y-o and she's one to consider. Tongue strap on 1st time. Retains potential; should be fine with drop from 6f in a first-time tongue-tie; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (66/1 -100%) Thelma's Angel |
66/1(-100%) | (11) Thelma's Angel 66/1, 70,000 gns foal, Dark Angel filly. Dam, 5f/5.4f winner, half-sister to useful 5.5f-7f winner (including Oak Tree Stakes) Last Empire. Market should prove a useful guide on debut. Late-foaled 70,000gns yearling, who's still to turn three, is likely best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (4/1 +43%) Exceed Now |
4/1(+43%) | (6) Exceed Now 4/1, Exceed And Excel colt. Dam, 2-y-o 6f winner. 9/1, fourth of 12 in minor event at Kempton (6f) in October, showing ability whilst ultimately found wanting for know-how. Bred to be useful and he looks sure to do better with that under his belt. Shaped well in one start last autumn; looks the most interesting non-winner in the line-up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (100/1 -525%) Blue Force |
100/1(-525%) | (4) Blue Force 100/1, £220,000 2-y-o who showed ability amidst greenness despite finishing last of 5 in a C&D novice on debut last summer. Changed hands for just 8,000 gns thereafter (also gelded) but feasible to think he can do better. Only ran once for Roger Varian before sold for 8,000gns; looks more of a handicap prospect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/3 -11%) Indicate |
10/3(-11%) | (2) Indicate 10/3, Son of Blue Point who shaped as if needing the run when last of 7 on debut at York last summer but proved a different proposition after 8 months off/gelded when successful in a 7-runner Southwell maiden (5f) in February. In good hands and open to further improvement. Much more like it on his comeback, when strong in the betting again; on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (250/1 -150%) Oriental Prince |
250/1(-150%) | (8) Oriental Prince 250/1, Once-raced maiden. 80/1, sixth of 7 in minor event at this course (6f) on debut 29 days ago. Probably one for handicaps later on. Doubt he features tonight, having finished well beaten at a big price on his 6f debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (150/1 -200%) Mambha |
150/1(-200%) | (10) Mambha 150/1, Once-raced maiden. 33/1, very green when sixth of 9 in minor event at Pontefract (6f, heavy) on debut 14 days ago, very slowly away and never a threat. Probably one for later on. Bit of hope on debut, having given away a lot of ground at the start; this tough enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (80/1 -142%) Odette's Beau |
80/1(-142%) | (7) Odette's Beau 80/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fifth of 8 in minor event at Thirsk (7f, good to soft, 9/1) in August, brief headway over 1f out and not persevered with once held. Absent since and he looks a likely type for handicaps moving forward. Returns from eight months off and may find his level in handicaps after tonight. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
DYRHOLAEY has looked above-average in winning both his starts this year, particularly at Wolverhampton last time when powering clear for a five-and-a-half-length success over 6f. He boasts enough speed to be able to cope with this drop to the minimum trip and makes more appeal than Karl Burke's Southwell scorer Indicate. You can throw Queen's Guard into the mix as well.
DYRHOLAEY maintained his 100% record and took his form up a notch when running out an authoritative winner at Wolverhampton 6 weeks ago. The drop to the minimum trip will hold no fears on that evidence and he looks a big player again despite conceding weight all round. Indicate proved a different proposition on his return and is considered with the prospect of more to come, whilst Queen's Guard and Exceed Now are others worth a second look.
Dyrholaey may be up to defying a double-penalty down to 5f but is taken on with EXCEED NOW, who shaped nicely on debut last autumn.

1st (10) (4/5 +12%) Ten Dimes |
4/5(+12%) | (10) Ten Dimes 4/5, 600,000 gns No Nay Never filly. Half-sister to 1m winner Bright Idea and useful 2-y-o 7f winner Hafit, from very good family. Green all round when second of 9 at this course (7.1f, 2/1) on debut in November. That was a promising start and she sets a high standard with improvement to come. Unlucky loser on her 7f debut here late last year; sets a decent standard on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (4/1 -14%) Radiant Beauty |
4/1(-14%) | (8) Radiant Beauty 4/1, Churchill filly. Closely related to 1m winner Urban Decay. 5/1, third of 10 at Chelmsford City (7f) on debut 33 days ago, keeping on well. Should progress. Debut 3rd at Chelmsford a month ago hasn't worked out but the stiffer test ought to help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (7/1 +0%) Marianglas |
7/1(+0%) | (6) Marianglas 7/1, 75,000 gns yearling, Almanzor filly. Dam, 2-y-o 6f winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 1¼m Lauderdale out of smart 1½m winner Freedom's Light. Fifth of 9 at this course (7.1f, 9/1) on debut (Ten Dimes second). Off 151 days. Likely to improve. Played up before shaping fairly behind Ten Dimes on debut here last November; can improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (16/1 -33%) Sneaky Girl |
16/1(-33%) | (9) Sneaky Girl 16/1, Half-sister to very smart 7f-1¼m winner Lady Bowthorpe, smart winner up to 7f Speak In Colours and useful winner up to 1m Pretty In Grey. Green when seventh of 8 in maiden at this course (7.1f, 5/1) on debut 39 days ago. Open to progress. Only beat one home on her debut here but form boosted since; is worth a look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (9/2 +10%) Nartaji |
9/2(+10%) | (7) Nartaji 9/2, Iffraaj filly. Dam once-raced, closely related to useful winner up to 1m Red Mist out of useful 7f/1m winner Red Dune. Trainer’s newcomers command respect. Trainer boasts an unsurprisingly good record with 3yos here; is a likely looking newcomer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (50/1 +24%) La Sonnambula |
50/1(+24%) | (4) La Sonnambula 50/1, 16,000 gns yearling, Masar filly. Half-sister to winner up to 7f Surfina and 5f winner Lucky Charm. Eleventh of 12 in maiden (50/1) at Salisbury (7f, good) on debut. Off 8 months. Beaten long way on debut last summer; best watched again unless the market says otherwise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (50/1 -52%) Carping Caitlin |
50/1(-52%) | (1) Carping Caitlin 50/1, Twice-raced filly. Showed more than on debut when fourth of 9 at Southwell (7.1f, 16/1) 144 days ago. Looks one for handicaps. Has undergone wind surgery and will likely be one for handicaps after tonight. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (200/1 -100%) Liz's Kitten |
200/1(-100%) | (5) Liz's Kitten 200/1, Bred to be useful but green and well held in 2 races at 2 yrs. Off 6 months. Well held at big prices in two runs last summer; low-grade handicaps are probably next up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (150/1 -200%) Evanwood |
150/1(-200%) | (3) Evanwood 150/1, Twice-raced filly at 2 yrs, looking a work in progress. Off 7 months. Needs a good step forward to get involved here; handicaps are probably next on the agenda. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The eye is immediately drawn to TEN DIMES and she should take some stopping for a powerful Newmarket yard. The daughter of No Nay Never was restless in the stalls here on debut in November and did well to claim a silver medal on that occasion. She has been given plenty of time and should be more streetwise now, so she can get the better of Radiant Beauty and newcomer Nartaji.
TEN DIMES made a very promising start here in November and will be hard to beat in a thin fillies' maiden with improvement surely in the offing for her top yard. Nartaji is an interesting newcomer, while Radiant Beauty is another one open to progress second time up.
Not much went right for TEN DIMES on debut here late last year and she sets a good standard. Nartaji is an interesting newcomer.

5/1(+23%) | (11) Angel Of Antrim 5/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in March. Creditable third of 8 in handicap (9/2) at Southwell (8.1f) 4 days ago. Not taken lightly. Running well lately, but not sure the drop in trip is ideal for him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (13/2 -8%) Headabovetherest |
13/2(-8%) | (3) Headabovetherest 13/2, 10/3, first run since leaving Tim Easterby when sixth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 59 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time and has undergone a wind op since latest start. Place possibilities. 0-9; second over 6f here last summer; pulled hard on stable debut last time; tongue-tie on. |

3rd (13) (11/1 -22%) Fircombe Hall |
11/1(-22%) | (13) Fircombe Hall 11/1, Four-time course winner. Respectable third of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 7/2) 24 days ago, nearest finish. Another with an each-way chance. Four-time course winner over 6f, but has won over 7f; may find this level a bit warm. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (17/2 -6%) Angel Amadea |
17/2(-6%) | (4) Angel Amadea 17/2, Latest win at Wolverhampton in December. 13/2, respectable third of 10 in handicap at this C&D 22 days ago, left with too much to do. Not discounted. Placed off higher marks in two of her last three starts over C&D; that makes her a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (25/1 -355%) Absolute Dream |
25/1(-355%) | (7) Absolute Dream 25/1, Course winner. Latest win at Southwell in March. 5/1, creditable second of 10 in handicap at this course (6f) 22 days ago. Should be in the mix. Going well lately; no problem with the return to this trip and holds each-way claims.. |

6th (9) (7/2 +13%) Brother Dave |
7/2(+13%) | (9) Brother Dave 7/2, 11/4, career best when winning 12-runner handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 16 days ago, slowly away. 4 lb rise fair and he has to enter calculations in his hat-trick bid. Bids for a hat-trick after two wins at Southwell; high on the list in his current mood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (17/2 +66%) Jems Bond |
17/2(+66%) | (10) Jems Bond 17/2, Five-time course winner. Three wins from 13 runs last year. 9¾ lengths tenth of 12 to Brother Dave in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 13/2) 16 days ago. Something to find on form. Losing run is up to 13; well behind Brother Dave last time; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (14/1 -40%) Wallaroo |
14/1(-40%) | (12) Wallaroo 14/1, Creditable third of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 12/1) 12 days ago, running on. Not without each-way hope. Often a front-runner for whom this drop in trip could be a good move. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (7/2 +36%) Rockin Rosa |
7/2(+36%) | (8) Rockin Rosa 7/2, C&D winner. Very good third of 10 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 25/1) 26 days ago, very slowly away. Has to be taken seriously. Yard also saddles Brother Dave. C&D winner last summer and a close third on last month's Southwell return; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (33/1 -106%) Going To The Moon |
33/1(-106%) | (2) Going To The Moon 33/1, Respectable third of 7 in handicap (9/2) at Wolverhampton (8.6f). Off 9 months ahead of this debut for new yard. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. 0-8 and makes stable debut after nine months off; plenty to prove down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (25/1 -79%) Glory Call |
25/1(-79%) | (5) Glory Call 25/1, 25/1, creditable 2¼ lengths third of 11 to Keep Me Stable in handicap at this C&D. Off 154 days and he will probably come on for the run. Just 1lb above his last winning mark, but he may need this after five months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Brother Dave commands plenty of respect lining up in search of a three-timer, while course winner Absolute Dream has been in good nick and joins Brother Dave's stable companion Rockin Rosa on the shortlist. The verdict is for WALLAROO, though, as he produced a much better effort at Wolverhampton when third latest and might just appreciate dropping back to 7f if getting on the front end.
Ruth Carr could hold the key to this race with her representatives ROCKIN ROSA and Brother Dave both holding strong claims. It's no great surprise that James Sullivan has opted to ride the hat-trick seeking Brother Dave but Rockin Rosa shaped really well back from a break at Southwell and she could be the answer. Angel of Antrim is a live candidate and is best of the rest, albeit Absolute Dream is also worthy of respect.
It may be worth chancing TILLYBOB who is much less exposed than her rivals. She would have finished closer with a clear run last time.

2nd (4) (11/10 +91%) Cuban Storm |
11/10(+91%) | (4) Cuban Storm 11/10, Thrice-raced maiden. 12/1, ninth of 11 in minor event at Redcar (6f, heavy). Off 179 days. Makes handicap debut. Mark looks stiff enough. Raw in three turf runs last autumn; worth considering if the market speaks his way. |

3rd (7) (22/1 -120%) Notion In Motion |
22/1(-120%) | (7) Notion In Motion 22/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 12 in maiden (66/1) at this course (7.1f) 63 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Half-brother to three-time C&D winner One More Dream; would want to see market interest. |

11/2(-214%) | (2) Miners Gamble 11/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 11/2, excellent third of 8 in handicap at this C&D 29 days ago, not ideally placed. More to come and should take all the beating. Nothing wrong with comeback C&D third; entitled to come on for that; holds leading claims. |

6th (5) (15/2 -7%) Tees Douge |
15/2(-7%) | (5) Tees Douge 15/2, Unreliable individual. 9/2 and hooded for 1st time, fourth of 5 in handicap at this course (5f) 24 days ago. Not straightforward but has the ability to compete from this mark. Can race keenly and has hung both ways, so wouldn't be one for maximum faith. |

14/1(-133%) | (1) Gloves 14/1, 3/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 11 in nursery at Lingfield (6f, AW), slowly away. Off 125 days. First run for yard after leaving George Boughey. Hood back on. Others preferred. Expensive to follow for George Boughey; the tongue-tie comes off and the hood goes back on. |

9th (6) (15/2 -15%) Miss Rainbow |
15/2(-15%) | (6) Miss Rainbow 15/2, 17/2, creditable third of 10 in handicap at Catterick (6f, heavy) 13 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Not discounted. Consistent maiden who's being tried in first-time headgear back on Tapeta; each-way shout. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MINERS GAMBLE arrives off an unchanged mark following a highly encouraging handicap debut over C&D last month, when staying on for a close-up third. Brian Ellison's charge looks primed to strike on this occasion and he may have too much again for Miss Rainbow (fifth), who has just over two lengths to make up with him from that most recent clash. Gloves is one to monitor for market support on her first start for new connections, while Exponential should be suited by stepping up in trip.
MINERS GAMBLE kept on strongly from an unpromising position when third over C&D last time and, with scope for further improvement, he's preferred to Exponential, who remains with potential. Tees Douge could make his presence felt if in the mood.
After a solid C&D comeback MINERS GAMBLE (nap) gets the nod. Cuban Storm and Notion In Motion are worth tracking in the market.

2nd (1) (5/1 -11%) Brummell |
5/1(-11%) | (1) Brummell 5/1, Lightly-raced winner. Career best when winning 11-runner nursery (22/1) at Southwell (6.1f), well ridden. Off 144 days. More needed up 5 lb but couldn't rule out further progress. Off five months since winning a Southwell nursery; respected if ready to roll. |

10/3(+26%) | (6) Forever Eighteen 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. 5/2, bit below form third of 7 in nursery at Thirsk (6f, soft) when last seen in September. 4/1(-45%) | (4) Badosa 4/1, First run since leaving Archie Watson and career best when winning 11-runner handicap (18/1) at this C&D 44 days ago. 4 lb rise tolerable and she has to enter calculations. Bids for a hat-trick after wins at Southwell and over C&D (stable debut); major player. |

25/1(-25%) | (3) Come On Irene 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 66/1, bit below form fifth of 9 in nursery at Thirsk (6f, good to soft), unable to sustain effort. Off 8 months. First run for yard after leaving Nigel Tinkler. Stable debut; half-sister and dam both won on the AW; worth monitoring in the market. |

9th (9) (33/1 -32%) Bella Camina |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Bella Camina 33/1, Ninth of 12 in nursery (50/1) at Southwell (5f). Off 6 months and back up in trip. Best to look elsewhere. Third in Carlisle nursery last autumn but may not have achieved much; well held otherwise. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A switch in stables only seemed to improve BADOSA further when scoring over C&D last month and a 4lb rise for that success may not be enough to prevent her from landing the hat-trick. That may be at the main expense of the returning Southwell winner Brummell and the promising Forever Eighteen, who was getting the hang of things at the end of last season. Not beaten far over 7f at Wolverhampton last time out, Wren Officer may be suited by dropping back in trip if getting a strong pace to aim at.
The vote goes to WREN OFFICER, who is only 2 lb above the mark off which she was successful here in January and her latest effort at Wolverhampton was eye-catching. Badosa made a winning start for this yard over C&D last month and she looks a big threat, while Forever Eighteen is also shortlisted.
The choice is BADOSA who can complete the hat-trick after having made a successful stable debut over C&D last month.
Ths is the racecard key.
