1st (6) (10/3 -21%) Secret Squirrel |
10/3(-21%) | (6) Secret Squirrel 10/3, Bolted up on his hurdling debut at Kempton and good runner-up efforts on next 2 outings. Also fourth on AW Flat last month. Another to consider. Dual bumper winner who was second to useful rivals on first two hurdle starts; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/2 +25%) Helnwein |
9/2(+25%) | (1) Helnwein 9/2, Useful bumper winner who made a successful switch to hurdling at Warwick in November. Better form in defeat at Listed/Grade 2 level since. Should be thereabouts with his sights lowered. Very respectable fourth in Kempton Grade 2 last time; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/5 +34%) Lario |
11/5(+34%) | (4) Lario 11/5, Fair 11f winner on Flat in Germany in 2022. Winner of his completed start over hurdles for Anthony Charlton this winter and made a sound start for the Harry Derham stable when third of 11 at Newbury (2m, good to soft) 19 days ago. Likely to have a big say. Plumpton maiden winner; third in good race at Newbury on recent stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (250/1 -279%) Got Grey |
250/1(-279%) | (10) Got Grey 250/1, Modest maiden hurdler in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell and has plenty to find on form now setting out for a new stable after 7 months off. 0-8 over hurdles in Ireland and faces tough assignment on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (6/1 +0%) Meatloaf |
6/1(+0%) | (5) Meatloaf 6/1, Dual bumper winner who overcame greenness to make a successful debut over hurdles in 9-runner novice at Wincanton (15f) in November. Given a break since a lesser run at Cheltenham the following month. Retains potential for his leading stable. Won on hurdle debut in November; off since Cheltenham flop in December; still considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (6/1 -71%) Johnny Jump Up |
6/1(-71%) | (2) Johnny Jump Up 6/1, Point recruit who made a taking winning start to his Rules career in a 2¼m novice hurdle here in January. Ran well under a penalty at Plumpton (20.5f) since. Back down in trip. Created good impression on hurdling debut and has run well in defeat since; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (250/1 -279%) Maryollie |
250/1(-279%) | (12) Maryollie 250/1, £45,000 Irish point winner but well beaten on his recent Wincanton hurdle debut. Always behind in Wincanton maiden hurdle on recent rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (200/1 -300%) Captain's Pick |
200/1(-300%) | (7) Captain's Pick 200/1, Runner-up in a bumper in Ireland last summer but hasn't achieved enough in a bumper and 2 maiden hurdles for current yard to suggest he's likely to play a prominent role here. Encouraging fourth in recent Plumpton maiden; much more is needed, though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (14) (200/1 -100%) Nobody Told Me |
200/1(-100%) | (14) Nobody Told Me 200/1, Fair handicapper on Flat for Jedd O'Keeffe but remote sixth on C&D hurdle debut 16 days ago. Unlikely to be of interest in this sphere until handicapping. Soundly beaten over C&D on recent stable/hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (17/2 -70%) King Of Tara |
17/2(-70%) | (3) King Of Tara 17/2, Placed on all 3 starts in bumpers prior to making a successful switch to hurdles at Warwick (2m, heavy) last month. Definitely more to come. Travelled strongly for a long way when scoring on last month's hurdle debut at Warwick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (22/1 -120%) Chancycourt |
22/1(-120%) | (8) Chancycourt 22/1, Third in an Irish point before shaping well when second in a Worcester bumper (heavy) in October 2021. Not seen again until sixth in a Cheltenham novice hurdle last April. Off a further 12 months but he has the potential for better. Not seen since sixth in very good Cheltenham novice on hurdling debut a year ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (250/1 -67%) Raindance Queen |
250/1(-67%) | (13) Raindance Queen 250/1, Placed both starts between the flags early in 2022 but has shown little in 3 novice hurdles this season. Booked for another struggle. First flicker of promise under rules when midfield in Kempton novice last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (9) (250/1 -150%) Giddy Up |
250/1(-150%) | (9) Giddy Up 250/1, Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Brother to a point winner and modest hurdler/chaser William Philo. Likely outsider on debut. Seems very unlikely to meet the required standard on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (11) (250/1 -279%) Skin Full |
250/1(-279%) | (11) Skin Full 250/1, Cost £82,000 after finishing runner-up sole in an Irish point last spring but he didn't offer any short-term encouragement on last month's C&D hurdle debut. Tailed off over C&D on recent rules debut; can only be watched at present. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Johnny Jump Up warrants respect as the highest rated in this open affair, with the shorter trip unlikely to inconvenience him. However, LARIO's third on his stable bow in a competitive novice hurdle at Newbury rates as a slightly stronger performance. The five-year-old should have more to offer for Harry Derham and he's taken to regain the winning thread. Secret Squirrel and Chancycourt also have the form to feature prominently.
Six previous hurdle winners clash in an interesting novice to open the card. LARIO shaped well behind a couple of useful sorts starting out for Harry Derham at Newbury recently and gets the nod ahead of Secret Squirrel and Jonjo O'Neill's Warwick winner King of Tara.
The suggestion is LARIO, who was a close third behind two useful rivals on last month's stable debut at Newbury.

1st (5) (3/1 +25%) Il Etait Temps |
3/1(+25%) | (5) Il Etait Temps 3/1, Back on the up when producing a gutsy display to land the Irish Arkle at Leopardstown (17f) in February but again no match for stablemate Gaelic Warrior when third in Arkle at Cheltenham (15.9f, heavy) last month, making a couple significant mistakes. Back up in trip and warrants respect. Arkle effort suggests this return to a longer trip is well worth exploring; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (4/1 -33%) Ginny's Destiny |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Ginny's Destiny 4/1, Useful hurdler for Tom Lacey and quickly scaled greater heights over fences for new yard, completing a Cheltenham hat-trick in 20.5f handicap in January. Ran another cracker when runner-up to Grey Dawning at the Festival 4 weeks ago and this bold-jumping front-runner won't be far away. Progressive front-runner; ties in closely with Grey Dawning on two pieces of chase form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (11/10 +0%) Grey Dawning |
11/10(+0%) | (4) Grey Dawning 11/10, Grade 2 hurdle winner last term who has taken very well to fences, winning 21.5f Haydock graduation event and 3m Warwick Grade 2. Cemented his status as the leading British-trained novice when beating Ginny's Destiny by 2 lengths at the Festival 4 weeks ago and may not have finished improving. Landed the Turners, beating Ginny's Destiny by 2l; top on ratings and still improving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (22/1 +33%) Colonel Harry |
22/1(+33%) | (2) Colonel Harry 22/1, Likeable type who took 4-runner Towton Novices' Chase at Wetherby (19.5f) in January. However, he's had his limitations exposed at this level the last twice so it's easy enough to look elsewhere. Turners effort confirms that he's below the top tier in this division. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (17/2 +6%) Blow Your Wad |
17/2(+6%) | (1) Blow Your Wad 17/2, Winning hurdler who built on chase debut when coming out on top in a Kempton handicap on Boxing Day. Possibly unsuited by track at Cheltenham next time, but back on track with cheekpieces reapplied when landing Grade 2 at former course (20.5f, soft) just under 7 weeks ago. More needed here, though. Fresher than his rivals, having bypassed Cheltenham, and may rate higher still. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Grey Dawning beat Ginny's Destiny (second) and Colonel Harry (sixth) in the Turners at the Cheltenham Festival last month and he might be worth more than his winning distance of two lengths suggests. He is fancied to confirm his superiority over those rivals, but could find IL ETAIT TEMPS too good. Willie Mullins' six-year-old could only manage third when fancied for the Arkle, but the step back up in distance may help his jumping this time around and it would be no surprise to see him take a step forward.
A mouth-watering curtain-raiser to the 2024 Grand National Festival which sees GREY DAWNING and Ginny's Destiny lock horns for a third time over fences and, with the state of play currently tied at one-all, Dan Skelton's 7-y-o is strongly fancied to tilt the scales in his favour with the heavy rain forecasted only enhancing his claims. Irish-raider Il Etait Temps can fill out third provided he keeps jumping errors to a minimum.
While Grey Dawning and Ginny's Destiny are top on form, IL ETAIT TEMPS and Blow Your Wad are interesting alternatives.

1st (1) (15/8 +6%) Be Here Now |
15/8(+6%) | (1) Be Here Now 15/8, 4/1, career best when winning 5-runner handicap at Newcastle (5f) on reappearance 19 days ago. Form boosted by the runner-up and could still be well treated up 4 lb. Overcame trouble in running to win at Newcastle 19 days ago (solid form); major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (7/4 +75%) Split The Profit |
7/4(+75%) | (5) Split The Profit 7/4, Fair maiden Bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap at Chelmsford (6f, 10/1) 13 days ago but claims on his C&D near miss prior to that. Strong finish when 2nd over C&D last month but couldn't back it up last time (6f); now 0-9. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (9/1 +0%) Whogoesthere |
9/1(+0%) | (8) Whogoesthere 9/1, Didn't progress at 2. Seventh of 8 in nursery at Catterick (5f, soft) on final start in September. Off 6 months. Makes tapeta debut. Has work to do. Didn't progress last year but returns on a fair mark on his best efforts; AW debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 -100%) Scoops Ahoy |
14/1(-100%) | (3) Scoops Ahoy 14/1, Dual 5 winner at 2, including AW. Off since a below-par run at Catterick in October. Two 5f wins as a 2yo, including AW; absent since a lesser run in October; been gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (17/2 -70%) Soldiers Design |
17/2(-70%) | (6) Soldiers Design 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Chased home Mutasawi in Kempton maiden on yard debut. Creditable third of 6 in handicap (17/2) at Lingfield (5f) since. Makes tapeta debut. Behind Mutasawi at Kempton in February and reopposes on the same terms. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (33/1 +0%) Kipp Kelly |
33/1(+0%) | (4) Kipp Kelly 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 5 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 50/1) 19 days ago. Has shown promise over C&D but tailed off on h'cap debut latest & looks badly handicapped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (10/1 -300%) Mutasawi |
10/1(-300%) | (2) Mutasawi 10/1, 13/8, career best when winning 6-runner maiden at Kempton (5f) 43 days ago by ½ length from reopposing Soldiers Design. Cheekpieces go on for handicap debut. Respected. Off the mark in a Kempton maiden (5f) six weeks ago; cheekpieces added for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (50/1 -127%) Please Please Me |
50/1(-127%) | (7) Please Please Me 50/1, C&D novice winner in February. 40/1, last of 10 in handicap at this course (6f) since. Bounce back needed. C&D win in February came in a poor race; remote 40-1 shot on handicap debut; little appeal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Now that the penny has dropped for BE HERE NOW after scoring from a subsequent winner at Newcastle last month, the son of Oasis Dream should have plenty more to come off a 4lb higher mark. Mutasawi had the reopposing Soldiers Design half a length back in second when getting off the mark at Kempton and David O'Meara's charge can uphold that form as he makes his handicap debut.
BE HERE NOW overcame a troubled passage to collar a next-time-out winner at Newcastle last month so a 4 lb rise doesn't look enough to prevent him following up. Kempton maiden winner Mutasawi may give him most to do ahead of Split The Profit, who went close over C&D on his penultimate start.
Mutasawi may benefit from cheekpieces and he's considered but BE HERE NOW did well to win at Newcastle and he can follow up.

1st (3) (7/2 +22%) Doctor Nightingale |
7/2(+22%) | (3) Doctor Nightingale 7/2, Modest hurdler. Cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, ninth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 40/1) 55 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Poor on last hurdle outing. Placed in five of her seven starts over hurdles, has questions to answer at this stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (8/13 +15%) Jeaniemacaroney |
8/13(+15%) | (9) Jeaniemacaroney 8/13, Lightly-raced maiden. Good second of 20 in juvenile hurdle at Cork (16.7f, heavy, 11/2) 21 days ago, headed run-in and keeping on. Sets a solid standard. Has plenty of hurdling experience, sets a fair standard after last month's Cork second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (10/3 -21%) Lady Of The Locke |
10/3(-21%) | (12) Lady Of The Locke 10/3, Allowed to dictate matters and showed fair form when making winning bumper debut at Thurles (15.9f) but not in same form up in grade when 27¼ lengths fifth of 10 to Shuttle Diplomacy in listed bumper at this course (16.2f, heavy) 18 days ago. Still, she's worth a second look now hurdling. Landed a bumper first time out at Thurles, reappearance at Limerick possibly came too soon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (80/1 -142%) Duhallow Jury |
80/1(-142%) | (6) Duhallow Jury 80/1, Jukebox Jury filly. Eighth of 14 in juvenile hurdle at Cork (16f, heavy, 125/1) on NH debut 11 days ago. Passed over here. Big price when down the field on recent debut at Cork, not a likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (16/1 +0%) Give Me A Smile |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Give Me A Smile 16/1, Westerner filly. Dam (h124), 2½m hurdle winner (stayed 2¾m), half-sister to useful chaser (stayed 3¼m) On The Fringe. Worth a precautionary market check for all she's probably one for longer trips in due course. Dam won three races over hurdles and is a half-sister to hunter chasing star On The Fringe. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) (125/1 -150%) Queenofthelodge |
125/1(-150%) | (14) Queenofthelodge 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. Eighth of 11 in novice hurdle (150/1) at Cork (19f, heavy) 11 days ago, losing tough after 4 out. Can only be watched. Down the field in two races at Cork in the second half of last month, can be ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (150/1 -275%) Keyser Smokesy |
150/1(-275%) | (10) Keyser Smokesy 150/1, Papal Bull filly. Half-sister to 3 winners on Flat, including 7f/1m winner Wonder Elmossman. Dam ran once on Flat. Wears hood. Flat pedigree, half-sister to three winners, hooded for debut, not likely to be a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (33/1 -32%) Drum Roll |
33/1(-32%) | (4) Drum Roll 33/1, Fair maiden on the Flat. Shaped as if better for the run when midfield on hurdles debut at Navan in March and got no further than the first a Cork later last month. One to keep an eye on but handicaps probably going to be more her bag. Placed on the Flat in France, remote seventh at Navan, unseated at first at Cork. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (125/1 -25%) Duchamps Art |
125/1(-25%) | (5) Duchamps Art 125/1, Diamond Boy filly. Easy to back, didn't offer much in the way of short-term encouragement when sixteenth of 19 in novice hurdle at Naas (16f, soft) on NH debut 7 days ago. Tailed off first time out at Naas, unlikely to feature at this stage of her career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (100/1 -203%) Avandra |
100/1(-203%) | (1) Avandra 100/1, €1,000 3-y-o, Getaway filly. Half-sister to bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Pateen, stays 2½m. Dam (h75) maiden hurdler. Sixth foal, half-sister to bumper/hurdle winner Pateen, dam placed in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) (40/1 -150%) Her Self |
40/1(-150%) | (8) Her Self 40/1, Tau Ceti filly. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 3m) Banasan. Dam unraced sister to a hurdle winner, half-sister to useful Flat/jumps winner Banasan. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (2) (125/1 -89%) Dinner At Freddys |
125/1(-89%) | (2) Dinner At Freddys 125/1, Affinisea filly. 33/1, always behind when ninth of 11 in novice hurdle at Cork (19f, heavy) on NH debut 11 days ago. Ran in snatches first time out at Limerick, will need to acquire more experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (11) (125/1 -279%) Kp's Ladyofknock |
125/1(-279%) | (11) Kp's Ladyofknock 125/1, Policy Maker filly. Dam bumper winner out of hurdle winner abroad up to 21f Biagiotti. Dam Bahira won three bumpers for Donald McCain but failed to match that form over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
JEANIEMACARONEY may still be a maiden after five outings in this sphere, but she ran arguably a career best when overcoming errors to finish a highly creditable second at Cork. Peter Smithers' 7lb claim is a plus and Joseph O'Brien's filly should have too much for hurdling debutant Lady Of The Locke, who was a fine winner on debut before disappointing in a Listed bumper here. Doctor Nightingale and newcomer Give Me A Smile are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
JEANIEMACARONEY produced just about her best effort yet over hurdles when runner-up at Cork 3 weeks ago, coming clear with one boasting superior Flat form. She rates the one to beat with a repeat. Lady of The Locke, on hurdles debut, and Doctor Nightingale are others fancied to feature in a race lacking depth.
This is an ideal opportunity for JEANIMACARONEY to step up a place following a good second at Cork last month

1st (7) (17/2 +66%) Hazy Dream |
17/2(+66%) | (7) Hazy Dream 17/2, Remains a maiden following 9 attempts over hurdles and resumes after 11 months off here. 9 lb out of the handicap too. Bit better last time but that was a year ago and she returns from well out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (6/5 +66%) Pentire Head |
6/5(+66%) | (2) Pentire Head 6/5, In good form in maiden hurdles but pulled up on his handicap debut at Wincanton (24.7f, heavy) 54 days ago. Worth another chance with blinkers added now. Some fair form; remains of interest off this sort of mark and blinkers are now fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (5/1 +29%) Illogical Logic |
5/1(+29%) | (1) Illogical Logic 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden who came in only seventh of 9 in handicap hurdle (28/1) at Ascot (23.5f, good) 110 days ago. Not ruled out at these weights if shrugging off latest effort. Improved 4th in a maiden before struggling in an Ascot handicap on good; better expected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (17/2 -21%) Technology |
17/2(-21%) | (5) Technology 17/2, Made mistakes when unseated rider on his Doncaster chasing debut but pulled up back hurdling in handicap at Ascot (23.5f, good) 110 days ago. Others more persuasive. Pulled up on handicap hurdle debut at Ascot; had a wind op and still not fully exposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 -40%) Sparkling Duke |
14/1(-40%) | (3) Sparkling Duke 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden who has failed to build on his debut Aintree fourth. Pulled up in novice at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) 71 days ago so lots more needed on his handicap debut. Perhaps flattered by his Aintree run as he's shown little since; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (4/1 +56%) Nordic Storm |
4/1(+56%) | (6) Nordic Storm 4/1, Thrice-raced maiden who came in only seventh of 12 in novice hurdle at Fontwell (19.2f, soft) 74 days ago. Up in trip with more required on his handicap hurdle debut. Decent pedigree and should show more now handicapping at this level. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PLAISIR DES FLOS supplemented a Sedgefield success at Wincanton, with the Fergal O'Brien-trained gelding and his fellow joint-favourite drawing 28 lengths clear of the third. Although the handicapper has reacted with a 10lb hike in the ratings, there still appears to be plenty more to come and the hat-trick beckons. First-time blinkers may spark Pentire Head's interest and he could give the selection most to think about, ahead of the down-in-grade Illogical Logic.
PLAISIR DES FLOS hasn't looked back since sent into handicaps and rates a confident choice to shrug aside a 10 lb hike in the weights and complete his hat-trick. Pentire Head is weighted to go well if back on song with blinkers fitted for the first time. Illogical Logic also needs considering if back on his A-game.
A hat-trick could be on the cards for PLAISIR DES FLOS (nap) despite a further 10lb hike. Two of them came clear last time at Wincanton.

1st (5) (11/10 -21%) Sir Gino |
11/10(-21%) | (5) Sir Gino 11/10, French recruit who has been an impressive winner of both starts in Britain, latterly a 17f Grade 2 at Cheltenham by 10 lengths from Burdett Road. A late withdrawal from the Triumph at the Cheltenham Festival when the yard was under a cloud. Remains a top prospect. Has a lofty reputation and remains unbeaten; exciting prospect who commands huge respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (7/4 +56%) Kargese |
7/4(+56%) | (6) Kargese 7/4, Grade 3 winner in France who landed a Grade 1 at the Leopardstown Dublin Racing Festival on only her second outing for current connections. Better form when 1½ lengths second (pair clear) of 12 to Majborough in Triumph at Cheltenham last month. Looks sure to go well for last year's winning yard. Consistent and progressive filly; clear second in the Triumph; holds solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (9/2 -13%) Kalif Du Berlais |
9/2(-13%) | (3) Kalif Du Berlais 9/2, Landed a newcomers hurdle at Compiegne in October and has won twice at Kempton since coming to Britain. Looked a smart prospect in the Grade 2 Adonis last time and not discounted for connections who tasted success in this race with Monmiral in 2021. Very well regarded by his trainer and remains unbeaten; should have plenty more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (20/1 -25%) Intellotto |
20/1(-25%) | (2) Intellotto 20/1, Winner of juvenile events at Leopardstown and Limerick since switching to hurdles but beaten 9 lengths by Kargese when seventh in Leopardstown Grade 1 in between. Will need to raise his game. Still unexposed but has 9l to find with Kargese based on penultimate effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (150/1 +0%) Dirty Den |
150/1(+0%) | (1) Dirty Den 150/1, Bumper winner for Nigel Twiston-Davies but well beaten in a Newbury listed and Cheltenham Champion bumper since joining this yard and surely out of his depth at this level now hurdling. Has fairly useful bumper form but this looks a stiff introduction to hurdling. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
A cloud may still hang over the well-being of the Nicky Henderson stable, but the exciting SIR GINO may be just the tonic to get them back on track. The French import made quite the impression at Cheltenham in January and having missed his intended engagement in the Triumph Hurdle, he arrives here fresh and ready to lay down a marker as the best juvenile hurdler around. A Grade 1 winner at the Dublin Racing Festival, Kargese arguably sets the standard on form following a fine second in the Triumph behind stablemate Majborough. The unbeaten Kalif Du Berlais may well be a chaser in the making, but he got up late to score in the Adonis at Kempton and looks to have a similar profile to Monmiral, who won this for the stable in 2021.
The way SIR GINO saw off the very talented Burdett Road at Cheltenham in January marks him down as a juvenile of the highest class and he can see off Triumph runner-up Kargese and stretch his unbeaten record to 4. Kalif du Berlais has a similar profile to the selection and should also have a part to a play in a good renewal of this Grade 1.
Sir Gino is an exciting prospect, while Kalif Du Berlais is another unbeaten contender and KARGESE is a rock-solid filly.

1st (4) (6/4 +33%) Winchurch |
6/4(+33%) | (4) Winchurch 6/4, Foaled February 3. Churchill colt. Dam 2-y-o 6f winner. Debutant from a good yard. Something to like on pedigree, but stable not a noted souce of winning 2yo newcomers. |

2nd (3) (3/1 +25%) Sonic Si |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Sonic Si 3/1, Foaled February 24. Advertise colt. Dam, 5f/5.7f winner, half-sister to useful 5f/5.5f (Prix d'Arenberg) winner Cay Verde. Makes some paper appeal for a stable which has had a first-time juvenile winner already this year. Stable had an impressive 2yo debut winner last week; interesting, especially if backed. |

3rd (1) (9/4 -236%) Deal Maker |
9/4(-236%) | (1) Deal Maker 9/4, Promising type. Won 7-runner C&D novice on debut 11 days ago, kept up to work. Open to progress. Made a successful debut over C&D 11 days ago; that experience an advantage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (8/1 -14%) Chilly Breeze |
8/1(-14%) | (2) Chilly Breeze 8/1, Foaled January 28. Ulysses gelding. Dam, ran once at 2 yrs, half-sister to useful 2-y-o 7f winner Holloway Boy (by Ulysses). One to note in the betting on debut. Already gelded and stable has had very few 2yos go in first time in recent years. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Related to multiple winners, including the highly talented Salute The Soldier, DEAL MAKER sets the standard on the back of a taking debut success over C&D. A 7lb penalty will make life more difficult, but her experience could prove crucial and she should have enough to see off Chilly Breeze, who is out of a half-sister to Chesham winner Holloway Boy. David Loughnane is capable of readying one first time out and his Sonic Si cannot be ruled out as a son of top-class sprinter Advertise.
Unless the betting vibes are notably strong for one of the newcomers this looks a good chance for DEAL MAKER to add to her C&D debut success.
It may be worth taking on C&D winner Deal Maker with SONIC SI, whose stable had an impressive 2yo debut winner last week.

3rd (2) (3/1 +14%) Jay Pee M |
3/1(+14%) | (2) Jay Pee M 3/1, 7/1, good second of 13 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (16.2f, soft) 37 days ago, no match for winner. Has to be taken seriously. Fine efforts in defeat the last twice; raised 3lb but there should be more to come. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (15/2 +6%) Ragmans Corner |
15/2(+6%) | (8) Ragmans Corner 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable eighth of 19 in handicap hurdle (18/1) at Naas (15.5f, heavy) 32 days ago. Should have more to offer. Not beaten too far on handicap debut at Naas a month ago; could play a bigger part today. |

6th (1) (11/2 -65%) Another Ocana |
11/2(-65%) | (1) Another Ocana 11/2, Course winner. Winner in hurdle here in December. 8/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap chase at this course (17.5f, heavy) 32 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Not taken lightly. Won over 2m3f at this track at Christmas; three chase runs since; respected back here. |

7th (10) (6/1 +57%) Camino Mission |
6/1(+57%) | (10) Camino Mission 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 80/1, respectable sixth of 20 in handicap hurdle at Cork (20f, heavy) 21 days ago. One for the shortlist. Wasn't beaten that far on handicap hurdle debut at Cork over 2m4f; this trip suit better. |

8th (3) (18/1 -80%) Qatar Spirit |

Others more persuasive. Beaten a long way on return in a 3m Cork maiden hurdle but this is more suitable. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A tentative vote goes to THE BIG CLOUD, who may have disappointed last time out at Naas but is better judged on her previous handicap efforts back in December. Going back right-handed should aid her cause and the six-year-old can get off the mark at the main expense of Another Ocana, whose last start over the smaller obstacles resulted in victory over further here. A highly encouraging second at Thurles on just his second start in a handicap, Jay Pee M remains open to more improvement.
A few with chances but JAY PEE M rates the pick at these weights and gets the nod at the chief expense of course-winner Another Ocana. The unexposed Camino Mission and handicap-debutants Kilbrin Rocco and Flicker of Hope all command plenty of respect too.
Not beaten far over 2m4f on handicap debut at Cork last time, CAMINO MISSION should have improved from that.

1st (6) (11/8 -73%) Soir De Gala |
11/8(-73%) | (6) Soir De Gala 11/8, Not devoid of promise in maiden hurdles and, all the rage in the betting, shaped well switched to handicaps (in refitted tongue tie) when edged out late on by more experienced rival at Plumpton (17.8f) 10 days ago. In top hands and very much of interest here with likelihood of more to come. Clear second on last week's handicap debut at Plumpton; reappears before 7lb rise kicks in. |

2nd (12) (7/1 +79%) Freddie Fleetfoot |
7/1(+79%) | (12) Freddie Fleetfoot 7/1, Appeared to take a step forward when runner-up from a long way out of the weights here (19f, good to soft) in December but unable to build on that at Wincanton in February and likely to prove vulnerable to a few for all he's back off his correct mark. 0-11 over hurdles; ran well here in December but well beaten since; too risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/2 -22%) King's Castle |
11/2(-22%) | (2) King's Castle 11/2, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles who ran up to best when good second over C&D in December. Went a long way towards backing up that effort up when fourth at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) later that month so he's not without each-way hope. 0-6 over hurdles but ended 2023 with two good efforts (one over C&D); each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (33/1 -83%) Basman Palace |
33/1(-83%) | (3) Basman Palace 33/1, Maiden who has yet to better modest form in bumpers/over hurdles, running just about his best race yet when fourth of 8 in a Wincanton maiden (15.2f, heavy) 15 days ago. His mark demands improvement however now handicapping. Quite promising fourth in recent Wincanton maiden; more needed on this handicap debut. |

5th (10) (20/1 -43%) Summerleaze |
20/1(-43%) | (10) Summerleaze 20/1, :Maiden pointer and modest form at best in trio of hurdle runs so far since the turn of the year. Switch to handicaps more suitable but she is bred to be suited by much further. Showed nothing more than minor promise in his three qualifying races; handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (125/1 -279%) Beau Haze |
125/1(-279%) | (7) Beau Haze 125/1, Veteran who scored at Chepstow (19.5f) in March 2022 but very lightly raced since and showed nothing on back off 22 months off when pulled up over 19f here 31 days ago. Another likely best watched. Pulled-up 80-1 shot here last month after a long absence; current ability hard to gauge. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (12/1 -20%) Wrong Way Harry |
12/1(-20%) | (1) Wrong Way Harry 12/1, Suited by a sound pace when off the mark in a Huntingdon handicap (20.7f) in December 2021. Sparsely campaigned since but gave some cause for optimism back from another absence when sixth of 8 in handicap at Ludlow (15.7f, heavy) 6 weeks ago, not knocked about. This should reveal more. Returned from layoff with fairly encouraging run in February; now needs to build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (15/2 +70%) Hour Star |
15/2(+70%) | (9) Hour Star 15/2, Runner-up on the first of 2 starts in bumpers last season. Didn't look the easiest of conveyances in qualifying hurdle runs and easy to back, fared little better than previously when eleventh of 16 on handicap debut here (19f) 65 days ago. Down in trip. Never dangerous when 66-1 for handicap debut; needs to learn to settle better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (15/2 +25%) Daany |
15/2(+25%) | (8) Daany 15/2, Finally off the mark at Wincanton in January and still in front when unseated rider 3 out back there on penultimate run last month. Could only manage fifth in 7-runner handicap hurdle at Hereford (16.2f) since but eased 2 lb at least ahead of this. Won in January and comes here after a decent effort last month; considered each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (33/1 -106%) Outback Frontiers |
33/1(-106%) | (4) Outback Frontiers 33/1, Landed a weak Chepstow maiden hurdle (2m) in spring 2022 but never carried that form forward in pair of handicaps later that year. Lines up here on the back of a 22-month lay off and others make more appeal. Absent since disappointing run in June 2022 and probably wants better ground than this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (33/1 +34%) Royal Juniper |
33/1(+34%) | (5) Royal Juniper 33/1, Winner over fences at Wexford for A. J. Martin last summer but disappointed on final start for that yard and not a great deal of encouragement to glean from pair of hurdle runs for present connections. Well beaten on both starts for current stable; difficult to enthuse over at present. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (33/1 -230%) Rebel Angel |
33/1(-230%) | (11) Rebel Angel 33/1, Fair 5-time Flat winner who finished well held in trio of qualifying hurdle runs and no immediate improvement for switch to handicaps (in first-time cheekpieces) when fifth in mares' handicap at Fakenham (2m) 10 days ago. Too soon to be writing her off, however. Six Flat wins; yet to make a splash over hurdles but not beaten far on handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SOIR DE GALA is sure to prove popular on this quick turnaround having finished a respectable second on his handicap debut at Plumpton at the beginning of the month. Paul Nicholls' charge is effectively 7lb well-in and he can break through if running to a similar level. The biggest threat may emerge from King's Castle, who finished behind a pair of subsequent winners when fourth at Wincanton on Boxing Day. Daany could prove a viable each-way alternative.
SOIR DE GALA was unable to justify strong support but that shouldn't detract from what was a very encouraging handicap debut effort at Plumpton 10 days ago and, a well-bred individual with potential for better still, he looks the one to side with. Knig's Castle may well emerge as the chief threat, with Wrong Way Harry and Rebel Angel others to keep an eye on.
One of two to pull well clear of the others when second last week, SOIR DE GALA can gain quick compensation before he goes up 7lb.

1st (5) (9/4 -50%) Gerri Colombe |
9/4(-50%) | (5) Gerri Colombe 9/4, Top-class chaser who ran out an impressive winner of C&D Grade 1 here 12 months ago and he's enhanced his form subsequently, arriving here on back of a fine second behind Galopin Des Champs in last month's Cheltenham Gold Cup. Conditions fine and major claims with a repeat. Fine second in last month's Gold Cup and leading claims if that hasn't left a mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (17/2 +29%) Ahoy Senor |
17/2(+29%) | (1) Ahoy Senor 17/2, Top-class chaser on his day with a fine record here (Grade 1 winner over hurdles/fences) and ended last term with an excellent second behind Shishkin in this race. Efforts this season have been underwhelming on the whole but not out of the question a return to this venue could spark a revival. Not at his best this season but has an excellent record at this meeting and could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/3 +33%) Corbetts Cross |
10/3(+33%) | (3) Corbetts Cross 10/3, Upwardly-mobile hurdler and even better form over fences this campaign, running out a most impressive winner in a first-time hood of last month's National Hunt Chase at the Festival. This demands further progress back at the top table but highly unlikely he's reached his limit on that evidence. Easy win in NH Chase at Cheltenham; tougher task today but certainly impressive last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/2 +17%) Shishkin |
5/2(+17%) | (6) Shishkin 5/2, Brilliant chaser on his day, strong at finish when landing this race 12 months ago. Blotted his copybook by refusing to race on Ascot reappearance but looked in control when unseating 2 out in King George a month later and landed the odds in Gr 2 Denman at Newbury (3m, soft) since. Big player again. Could have won King George but for mishap; non-runner in Gold Cup (unsatisfactory scope). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (16/1 +52%) Gentlemansgame |
16/1(+52%) | (4) Gentlemansgame 16/1, Smart staying hurdler who made a fine start over fences, putting race-fitness to good use and capitalising on Bravemansgame's final fence blunder when landing the Charlie Hall (24.2f, heavy) at Wetherby in November. Never figured in Gold Cup only start since and more needed. Tongue strap back on. Won Charlie Hall; he's better than he showed in Gold Cup but something to prove after that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (11/1 -22%) Bravemansgame |
11/1(-22%) | (2) Bravemansgame 11/1, Last season's King George hero who hasn't quite been operating at same level this term, despite finishing runner-up to Hewick in this year's renewal. Could only muster a fifth place finish behind Galopin Des Champs in last month's Gold Cup but interesting connections now opt for cheekpieces. Last season's King George winner; hasn't hit same heights this term; cheekpieces may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (22/1 +33%) Thunder Rock |
22/1(+33%) | (7) Thunder Rock 22/1, Smart chaser who scored on return at Carlisle but let down by jumping faced with a well-run top-level handicap at Cheltenham next time. Much more assured in that department since, second at Musselburgh prior to listed success at Kelso (23.4f) 6 weeks ago. Still, likely to come up short here. Decisive 2m7f Listed win at Kelso last month but others have far more substance to form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Having landed the Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal in November, Gerri Colombe has had the unenviable task of chasing home Galopin Des Champs on his last two starts, most recently in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Gordon Elliott's eight-year-old is bound to be popular, but SHISHKIN gets the vote. Things haven't gone entirely to plan this season, but he looked the likely winner when unseating in the King George and then took the Denman Chase at Newbury. There have been shoots of life coming from the Nicky Henderson yard of late and last year's winner, who can emulate Docklands Express, Silviniaco Conti and Clan Des Obeaux in landing back-to-back renewals, might benefit from being fresher than his rivals. Corbetts Cross was a facile winner of the National Hunt Chase and Emmet Mullins' unexposed chaser might yet be capable at this level, while it would be dangerous to rule out Ahoy Senor, who will relish the return to this venue.
A winner at this meeting 12 months ago, GERRI COLOMBE ran the race of his life when finding only Galopin Des Champs too good in last month's Cheltenham Gold Cup and a repeat of that sort of performance can see Gordon Elliott's prolific 8-y-o prove a tough nut to crack here. That said, Shishkin, who missed the Festival, is likely to put up a bold bid to defend his crown, whilst 7-y-o Corbetts Cross, who ran out an authoritative winner of the NH Chase last month, is another to consider.
The Grand National meeting has brought out the best in AHOY SENOR and he is preferred over Gold Cup runner-up Gerri Colombe.

1st (2) (9/4 -13%) Mersea |
9/4(-13%) | (2) Mersea 9/4, Never figured back from 4 months off at Wolverhampton (7f) in March but showed benefit of that run when finishing second of 10 in handicap at Catterick (6f, heavy) 8 days ago. On a handy mark if backing that up returned to AW. Good 2nd last week (6f, heavy) and runs off the same mark; stiffer test at 5f preferable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (11/8 +69%) Rodborough |
11/8(+69%) | (1) Rodborough 11/8, 3-time C&D winner who ran another solid race when fourth from career-high mark here on penultimate start. Seemed stretched by 6f latest and return to this trip rates a definite plus here. Respected. Three C&D wins to her name; return to 5f/fillies' only company in her favour; solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 -80%) Alpine Girl |
6/1(-80%) | (3) Alpine Girl 6/1, AW/turf winner last summer. Ended her season on a low note but not disgraced after 7 months off when fourth of 7 in handicap at Kempton (6f, 10/1) 8 days ago, outpaced before keeping on inside final 1f. Better showing anticipated and worth noting she won second time out last term. Two 5f wins last year; sharper for last week's return at Kempton where she looked rusty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/2 -17%) Hurt You Never |
7/2(-17%) | (4) Hurt You Never 7/2, Five wins from 14 runs last year. Latest win at Newcastle in January. 4/1, not disgraced having faced competition for the lead when fourth of 9 in handicap back at that venue (6f) 27 days ago. Remains lightly raced at the minimum trip. Two fine efforts at Newcastle to kick off this season; may have done too much early latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HURT YOU NEVER may have had to settle for fourth at Newcastle last time out, but she had been in excellent form prior to that and is well capable of dominating this contest from on the pace, as she did plenty of times last season. Turned out again quickly after a highly encouraging second at Catterick last week, Mersea must enter calculations, while Alpine Girl may well be suited by dropping back from 6f.
MERSEA showed the benefit of her reappearance run when finishing runner-up at Catterick (6f) 8 days ago and, with the drop back to the minimum trip holding no fears, she gets the nod to go one place better. Alpine Girl and Hurt You Never are others to consider.
Alpine Girl should build on last week's Kempton fourth but these conditions bring out the best in RODBOROUGH and she can win again.

2nd (7) (11/2 +21%) Rockbrook |
11/2(+21%) | (7) Rockbrook 11/2, Course winner. Winner in hurdle here in October. 11/2, sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Navan (20f, heavy) 40 days ago. Can give a good account. Disqualified after winning a 2m3f handicap at this track last October; not as good since. |

3rd (2) (13/2 -136%) Starman |
13/2(-136%) | (2) Starman 13/2, C&D winner. 3 wins from 17 runs this season. Fourth of 6 in novice chase (25/1) at Gowran (20f, heavy) on debut over fences 33 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Not taken lightly. C&D winner is generally consistent; respectable chasing debut last time; be involved. |

4th (6) (11/4 +61%) Battle Of Ridgeway |
11/4(+61%) | (6) Battle Of Ridgeway 11/4, Latest win in chase at Thurles in November. Did best of those who raced more towards the inner when seventh of 20 in handicap hurdle at Cork (20f, heavy, 3/1) 21 days ago. On a lenient mark on pick of form. Beaten 33l back over hurdles last time and has to bounce back. |

5th (4) (7/1 +30%) Carlas Big Jim |
7/1(+30%) | (4) Carlas Big Jim 7/1, Latest win in hurdle at Gowran in March. 7/1, below form eleventh of 20 in handicap hurdle at Cork (20f, heavy) 21 days ago. Others more persuasive. Up 16lb for two wins; well beaten at Cork last time and probably in the handicapper's grip. |

6th (5) (11/1 -175%) San Aer |
11/1(-175%) | (5) San Aer 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Good sixth of 19 on Flat at the Curragh last month so need considering on his handicap hurdle debut. Best of four maiden hurdle runs was when beaten 21l at Naas last time; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (15/2 +46%) Spavango |
15/2(+46%) | (8) Spavango 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable fourth of 12 in handicap hurdle at this course (16.2f, heavy, 33/1) 18 days ago. Plenty to find on form. Not a bad effort on handicap debut over C&D last time; needs to find further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (17/2 -143%) Marv Michael |
17/2(-143%) | (1) Marv Michael 17/2, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Respectable third of 9 in novice hurdle (9/4) at Downpatrick (21.7f, good). Off 7 months. Down in trip. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Should improve. Ran promisingly in defeat in three maiden hurdles last summer; might find this trip sharp. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MARV MICHAEL'S latest third was well advertised by the runner-up landing a deeper race on his very next outing and this presents him with a good chance of following suit. Open to any amount of improvement, the Henry De Bromhead-trained six-year-old has travelled well in his three previous races over hurdles and looks well worth a try over the minimum trip. Battle Of Ridgeway also appeals back at this distance with ground conditions to suit, while Carlas Big Jim can't be written off after a Cork disappointment.
BATTLE OF RIDGEWAY didn't enjoy the rub of the green when seventh at Cork last time and can capitalise on a handy-looking mark. Starman rates a big danger though now back in this sphere, with Marv Michael also worthy of respect now going handicapping.
It could be worth taking a chance on classy Flat horse SAN AER getting off the mark over hurdles on this handicap debut.

1st (9) (10/3 -11%) Flash Gorcombe |
10/3(-11%) | (9) Flash Gorcombe 10/3, Back-to-back winner last spring and looked better than ever when routing the opposition at Wincanton in January. Holding form admirably and notched up his second success of the campaign at Hereford (16f, soft) 15 days ago and he remains of interest despite a 7 lb rise. Dual chase winner this season, most recently when dropped to 2m at Hereford last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (7/1 +65%) Western General |
7/1(+65%) | (4) Western General 7/1, Made the frame first 3 starts over hurdles last term prior to landing the odds in an 18.5f Newton Abbot maiden. Hasn't shown much in a 3 runs so far this time round though (twice over fences, making mistakes) and a first-time tongue tie is now applied. Was moving into contention before bad jumping error cooked his goose last time; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (15/2 +38%) Barest Of Margins |
15/2(+38%) | (10) Barest Of Margins 15/2, Made an encouraging start to his chasing career, finishing runner-up on all 3 completed outings in handicaps when last seen in 2022. Has since left Mick Channon and this should reveal what ability remains after 19 months off. Second in two chases in summer 2022; makes stable debut after 571-day absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (7/1 +13%) Limetree Boy |
7/1(+13%) | (7) Limetree Boy 7/1, Winning hurdler who has shown glimmers of promise over fences and took a step back in the right direction in first-time cheekpieces when third at Stratford (17f, heavy) last month. Mark continues to tumble and he's not one to rule out. Seemed to respond well to cheekpieces when respectable third at Stratford last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (14/1 -56%) Midnight Midge |
14/1(-56%) | (2) Midnight Midge 14/1, Hit the target 3 times last term (including twice here) but hasn't put his best foot forward in 4 starts so far this season (latest after 3 months off). Now 8 lb below last winning mark but looks vulnerable all the same. Runs this track very well, but has not fired this season and is best on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (16/1 -33%) Tribesmans Glory |
16/1(-33%) | (12) Tribesmans Glory 16/1, Fair winning chaser here for Tom George in 2020 and ran one of his better races in recent seasons back over fences when finishing a well-beaten second at Bangor (17.4f, heavy) 19 days ago. Task is to build on that. Ran game race in defeat last month but this regressive 10yo has not won since 2020. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (13/2 +46%) Mini Yeats |
13/2(+46%) | (11) Mini Yeats 13/2, Winless over hurdles but he made an encouraging start over fences when second over C&D last month (probably flattered by his proximity). Possibly amiss at Bangor 12 days later and now a first-time visor goes on. Stayed on for second over C&D on last month's chasing debut but has performed poorly since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (28/1 +15%) Harlem Soul |
28/1(+15%) | (6) Harlem Soul 28/1, Successful twice in Wincanton handicaps last season but not in the same form since, making no impact since returning to action in October. Significantly back down in trip but can only be watched. Won twice over 2m4f at Wincanton last season but has been out of form this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (16/1 -78%) Calgary Tiger |
16/1(-78%) | (5) Calgary Tiger 16/1, Left hurdles form well behind when winning first 2 starts over fences early last year. Pulled up in a strong Newbury Class 2 handicap on return, but he was a long way out of the weights and shaped much better despite finishing last back there from his correct mark recently. Not out of things. Will appreciate today's ease in grade but has quite a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (7/1 -75%) Breaking Cover |
7/1(-75%) | (3) Breaking Cover 7/1, Points runner-up who boasted a positive profile over hurdles, finishing third on handicap debut at Ludlow (15.7f) in November. Wasted what had looked a good opportunity on his chasing debut in a match contest at Southwell 3 months ago but it remains early days. Beaten at short odds in match race on chasing debut but could still do well over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (1) (9/1 -80%) Fire Dancer |
9/1(-80%) | (1) Fire Dancer 9/1, Made a winning start for this yard on the back of a lengthy absence at Ludlow in January 2023 but has looked one with problems since, possibly flattered by the run of the race when second at same course (16f, soft) 3 weeks ago. Winner that day has gone in again since, however. Good step back in right direction when second at Ludlow last month; still on good mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FLASH GORCOMBE clearly benefited from the step back to 2m when scoring with the minimum of fuss at Hereford, and a 7lb rise may not be enough to anchor Robert Walford's charge here. Despite being turned over at 1/6 in a Southwell match on his chasing debut, Breaking Cover should appreciate this return to a right-handed track, while Fire Dancer fared best of those held up when second at Ludlow and, off an unchanged mark, he warrants respect.
Cases can be made for several so, at forecast longer odds, it could pay to side with CALGARY TIGER, who shaped an awful lot better than the bare result after 4 months off at Newbury recently and William de Best-Turner's front runner can take advantage of another drop in the weights. Flash Gorcombe is likely to be popular in his current mood, so he's put forward as the main threat, ahead of Breaking Cover and Limetree Boy.
Topweight FIRE DANCER caught the eye when keeping on well for second at Ludlow three weeks ago and remains well handicapped.

1st (3) (Evens +80%) Impaire Et Passe |
Evens(+80%) | (3) Impaire Et Passe Evens, Won Grade 1s at Cheltenham and Punchestown in unbeaten novice hurdle season. Even better form when second in Hatton's Grace at Fairyhouse (2½m) and Matheson at Leopardstown (2m) this winter. Behind Bob Olinger when a below-par third in Irish Champion but leading claims if back to best. 5l behind second Bob Olinger when 3rd in Irish Champion Hurdle, but could reverse the form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/4 -13%) Bob Olinger |
9/4(-13%) | (2) Bob Olinger 9/4, High-class chaser who has reverted to hurdles this term, winning listed at Navan and Grade 2 Relkeel at Cheltenham (both 2½m), beating Marie's Rock by 7 lengths in the latter. No disgrace in being unable to live with State Man (Impaire Et Passe third) in Irish Champion since. Should go well. Rejuvenated this season, with two 2m4f Grade 2 wins, and he's a leading candidate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (18/1 -50%) Langer Dan |
18/1(-50%) | (4) Langer Dan 18/1, Smart performance when becoming the first dual winner of the Coral Cup (Handicap) at Cheltenham last month. Has also tasted big handicap success over this C&D but a big career best will be needed to get heavily involved at Grade 1 level. Has won the last two Coral Cups at Cheltenham; each-way possible now tackling a Grade 1. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (15/2 +25%) Luccia |
15/2(+25%) | (7) Luccia 15/2, Resumed winning ways in valuable Betfair Exchange Trophy (Handicap) at Ascot (2m) just before Christmas. Comfortably bettered that form when an excellent third in Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham since. Third in a Grade 1 novice at this meeting last year. Races beyond around 2m for first time here. Good third in the Champion Hurdle; yard has excellent record in this race; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (20/1 +0%) Marie's Rock |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Marie's Rock 20/1, Really smart hurdler at her best (second in last year's Liverpool Hurdle) but operating a bit below that level this season, with her Doncaster win in January coming a weak Grade 2. Pulled up in Mares' at Cheltenham since. Others arrive with more pressing claims. Hasn't found her peak form this term but a case can be made on last season's best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (33/1 +50%) Beacon Edge |
33/1(+50%) | (1) Beacon Edge 33/1, Won on Thurles reappearance in October. Also a good second In Grade 2 Boyne at Navan in February but below par behind Langer Dan in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham. Others are preferred. Ran well for a long way when 9th in Coral Cup but this 10yo would be a shock winner today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (14/1 +13%) Nemean Lion |
14/1(+13%) | (6) Nemean Lion 14/1, Took his form up another notch when landing the second Grade 2 success of his career in the Kingwell at Wincanton in February but he found the Champion Hurdle too hot to handle at Cheltenham and this isn't much easier. Below best when 6th in Champion Hurdle but won Kingwell Hurdle previously; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (100/1 -52%) Mahons Glory |
100/1(-52%) | (5) Mahons Glory 100/1, Useful effort to win a 21f Kempton handicap on Boxing Day on only his second outing for Patrick Neville but surely out of his depth in this company. Career-best when easily winning Kempton h'cap; tough ask today but not ruled out each-way. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
This looks an ideal test for BOB OLINGER and he should take an awful lot of beating. After appearing past his best for a while, he has bounced back in no uncertain terms this season, backing up a couple of Grade 2 wins with a solid second behind subsequent Champion Hurdle hero State Man at the Dublin Racing Festival. Henry de Bromhead's nine-year-old had today's biggest rival Impaire Et Passe five lengths behind at Leopardstown and he can confirm his superiority en route to recording a fourth top-level success. Impaire Et Passe didn't appear to enjoy more forceful tactics in the Irish Champion so it would be no surprise if Paul Townend elects to take a lead on this occasion, although he could have a target on his back, with Rachael Blackmore likely to sit further behind on the selection. Of those at longer odds, Nemean Lion may go forward and surprise one or two.
IMPAIRE ET PASSE seemed to resent a switch to front-running tactics when 5 lengths behind Bob Olinger in the Irish Champion Hurdle in February. His runner-up efforts to Teahupoo and State Man prior to that set the standard here and he can bounce back to form and turn the tables on Henry De Bromhead's charge. Champion Hurdle third Luccia may prove best of the remainder if her stamina holds up in trip.
Impaire Et Passe is better than he showed in the Irish Champion Hurdle but BOB OLINGER is taken to beat him once more.

1st (5) (11/1 +0%) Attila The Honey |
11/1(+0%) | (5) Attila The Honey 11/1, Career best when winning 4-runner event on handicap debut at this course (12.1f, 12/1) 11 days ago, despite still seeming rough around the edges. Carries penalty. Improving all the time recently. Progressive sort who scored on h'cap debut here; very much one to consider under 6lb pen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/4 +31%) Path To Dubai |
11/4(+31%) | (3) Path To Dubai 11/4, Course winner on debut in January. 15/8, shaped well under a penalty when second of 6 in minor event at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 52 days ago, needing stiffer test. Makes handicap debut and remains with potential. Landed maiden here before good Wolver second; not ruled out now his stamina is drawn out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (4/6 +39%) Road To Wembley |
4/6(+39%) | (7) Road To Wembley 4/6, Made a winning handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month and made light of a 6 lb rise to follow up in 4-runner event at Lingfield (10f, AW) 7 days ago, scoring by 7 lengths without being asked for maximum exertion. Carries penalty. Has best chance on form. On hat-trick after wins at Wolverhampton and Lingfield (by 7l); hard to oppose under a pen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (6/1 +20%) Timetobenice |
6/1(+20%) | (1) Timetobenice 6/1, Won second time up (first outing for this yard) at Kempton in November. 12/1, improved further under a penalty when second of 13 in minor event there (8f) when last seen 4 months ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Open to improvement. Very good second at Kempton latest; enter calculations now going handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (50/1 -355%) Trafalgar Square |
50/1(-355%) | (4) Trafalgar Square 50/1, 3/1, ran well when third of 7 on nursery debut at Newcastle (8f) 5 months ago. Significantly up in trip. First run for yard after leaving Andrew Balding (25,000 gns) and probably best watched on return. Very good third at Newcastle on final run for Andrew Balding; possibilities for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Road To Wembley has come into his own since going handicapping, winning both of his starts, and Richard Hughes' gelding must be respected under a penalty. Attila The Honey, who also shoulders a penalty having won over 1m4f here, can give another good account of herself, but GALACTIC CHARM is preferred. The son of Sea The Moon hit the crossbar on his return in a novice event at Wolverhampton and appears to be well treated judged on what he achieved last season, so could make more of an impact now in a handicap.
The hat-trick beckons for ROAD TO WEMBLEY, who scooted clear to win by 7 lengths without being asked for maximum effort at Lingfield last week and he can continue Richard Hughes' fine run of form under a penalty. Path To Dubai was narrowly denied at Wolverhampton in February, so he's put forward as the main danger upped further in trip, with Timetobenice rounding off the shortlist.
It's impossible to go against ROAD TO WEMBLEY (nap), who spreadeagled his field at Lingfield and can make light of a 6lb penalty.

5/2(-25%) | (7) On Lovers Walk 5/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Ninth of 13 in maiden hurdle hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, heavy, 15/2) 47 days ago but claims on his placed efforts here and at Thurles around the turn of the year. Significantly up in trip. Below form at Fairyhouse last time; a repeat of his best would see him go close, though. |

Makes hurdles debut. Up in trip. Beaten 33l in a bumper here on debut; this less competitive but major improvement needed. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
On Lovers Walk was second over 2m3f here three starts back and rates a player on that effort. However, it's hard to ignore COMING UP EASY, who had yet to be asked a serious question when he fell in a race won by Ballyburn at Leopardstown over Christmas. Obviously not in the same league as the subsequent Gallagher winner, the selection still has plenty of scope and must have every chance if his jumping holds together at this level. Hurdles debutant King Casey completes the shortlist.
COMING UP EASY has been given a bit of time to get over his fall at Leopardstown just after Christmas and this could be a good chance for him to get off the mark. On Lovers Walk is the obvious threat unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding one of the hurdle newcomers.
It looks like a good opportunity for COMING UP EASY to open his account after showing ability in a point, bumper and maiden hurdle.

9/1(-29%) | (3) Knowsley Road 9/1, Progressive over hurdles prior to a blip final start last term but disappointed in a couple of attempts over fences this season and has something to prove back over the smaller obstacles here. Had wind operation. Return to form needed but perhaps the wind op will help him recapture his promise. |

2nd (5) (7/1 +13%) Canty Bay |
7/1(+13%) | (5) Canty Bay 7/1, Landed a maiden (19f) at this course on return in November and suited by increase in trip when resuming winning ways at Ludlow (21.2f) in February. Not in same form latest but can't be ruled out. Disappointing at Uttoxeter but won easily at Ludlow prior to that; remains lightly raced. |

3rd (1) (4/1 -33%) Isaac Des Obeaux |
4/1(-33%) | (1) Isaac Des Obeaux 4/1, Defied a penalty in the manner of a useful novice at Chepstow (19.4f) in December and was far from disgraced when third in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham subsequently. Ran too bad to be true at Haydock since and remains with potential on handicap debut. Pulled up in Grade 2 novice at Haydock latest but promising previously; retains potential. |

4th (2) (9/1 -125%) Operation Manna |
9/1(-125%) | (2) Operation Manna 9/1, Completed hat-trick when narrowly taking Sandown handicap (23.5f) in December but finished well held at same course last time and needs further improvement to defy current mark. Well beaten at Sandown when bidding for 4-timer; could bounce back now back down in grade. |

5th (7) (9/4 +59%) Tiny Tetley |
9/4(+59%) | (7) Tiny Tetley 9/4, Lightly-raced gelding who showed much improved form when second on handicap debut over C&D in February and has since opened his account in a maiden at Exeter (21.6f). May be capable of better yet. Ran really well over C&D in sole handicap & this unexposed 6yo is one to be interested in. |

|PU| (6) (10/1 +50%) Warranty |
10/1(+50%) | (6) Warranty 10/1, Won handicaps at Plumpton (20.5f) and Warwick (19f) in the autumn of 2022 for Gary Moore but lightly raced and largely disappointing since, including on debut for new yard (after 13 months off) at Newton Abbot 20 days ago. Ran well for a long way on recent stable debut, following an absence; could improve for it. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Punters will need to be in a forgiving mood to side with KNOWSLEY ROAD, but it might pay to do so. Paul Nicholls' seven-year-old showed little in two starts over fences this winter, but this mark looks well within reach judging on the pick of his form and, on his first start after wind surgery and back over timber, this might just be the day to catch him. Feivel scored in bloodless fashion over an extended 2m5f at Exeter, but this career-high mark demands more from him. Isaac Des Obeaux, a stable companion of the selection, also commands respect on his handicap debut.
Exeter-winner TINY TETLEY looks fairly treated back in handicap company and can score again. Feivel and Isaac des Obeaux are feared most.
The unexposed 6yo Tiny Tetley could play a leading role but preference is for FEIVEL, who has thrived since the blinkers went on.

4th (21) (8/1 -60%) Time Leader |
8/1(-60%) | (21) Time Leader 8/1, Fairly useful chaser with an excellent strike rate in hunters, completing a hat-trick in this sphere when scoring comfortably at Hereford in January. Excellent third in Festival Challenge Cup at Cheltenham last time and deserves plenty of respect. Did well to be fifth in this last year and ran a career best last time at Cheltenham. |

5th (19) (25/1 +0%) Tea Clipper |
25/1(+0%) | (19) Tea Clipper 25/1, Winless since scoring at Chepstow back in October 2021 and, while he's shown the bulk of his ability remains this term, he's not looked the most straightforward recently, so others hard to have maximum confidence in him. Useful handicapper but has twice come up short at odds-on in hunter chases. |

6th (17) (5/1 +58%) Romeo Magico |
5/1(+58%) | (17) Romeo Magico 5/1, Point winner who is two from three in hunters and had plenty in hand when scoring at Down Royal last time. Tongue strap is refitted and his accurate jumping should be an asset on this course, so he's worth chancing to get the better of his stablemate. Bit to find on balance but impressed last time and he's still lightly raced for top yard. |

7th (11) (125/1 -25%) Hardline |
125/1(-25%) | (11) Hardline 125/1, Winless under Rules since landing a Grade 1 novice chase at Limerick back in 2018 and, while he's been successful in points since, his latest effort in a hunter at Leicester (beaten convincingly by Benny's King) add weight to the theory that he's not the force of old. Current limitations were ruthlessly exposed by Bennys King last time at Leicester. |

22/1(+45%) | (3) Cap Du Mathan 22/1, Useful chaser who lost his way in handicaps prior to completing a relatively simple task in a 7-runner event at Leicester on hunter debut. Returns to a more competitive scenario and stamina isn't assured. Remains useful on his day and 1-1 in hunter chases; however, best form is over shorter. |

9th (4) (33/1 +50%) Captain Tommy |
33/1(+50%) | (4) Captain Tommy 33/1, Already a 4-time winner this term and bagged 6-runner hunter chase at Ludlow (20f, soft) 21 days ago by ¾ length from Espoir De Guye. Not ruled out. Two small-field hunter chase wins at Ludlow this year; opposable at this level. |

50/1(+60%) | (20) The Big Lense 50/1, Winner of a handicap here last summer but efforts in hunters this term have been uninspiring. Needs goodish ground and struggled on soft behind Cap Du Mathan last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (66/1 +34%) Drop Flight |
66/1(+34%) | (6) Drop Flight 66/1, Placed 4 times in hunter chases last season and got back on track reverted to patient tactics when scoring in a 5-runner contest at Exeter last time. This is significantly tougher. Barely sighted before pulling up in this last year when 66-1; again very opposable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (16/1 -14%) Gaboriot |
16/1(-14%) | (9) Gaboriot 16/1, Won a pair of 3m handicaps in the autumn and regained the winning thread when easily landing a hunter at Catterick last month. Bit more required if he's to make a serious impact in this. Something has clicked this season but today's company demands a career best from him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (5) (28/1 +44%) Cat Tiger |
28/1(+44%) | (5) Cat Tiger 28/1, Useful chaser at his best for Paul Nicholls and found just one too good in the 2022 edition of this. Ran out for this yard at Hereford before a below-par Leicester third so has it to prove. Modest third to Bennys King last time but did go close in this race two years ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (14) (125/1 -25%) Matts Commission |
125/1(-25%) | (14) Matts Commission 125/1, Added to a prolific points record with another success last month but, based on what he's shown under Rules, he's out of his depth. Multiple point winner but likely to soon be out of his comfort zone at this level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (15) (14/1 +65%) Rebel Dawn Rising |
14/1(+65%) | (15) Rebel Dawn Rising 14/1, Multiple point scorer who is fairly useful under Rules and looked better than ever when landing a hunter at Fakenham last time, rallying to regain the lead late. This is much tougher. Should things go his way he might make the frame, but that's the limit of his ambitions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (12/1 +64%) Lieutenant Rocco |
12/1(+64%) | (13) Lieutenant Rocco 12/1, Useful on his day and returned to form to some degree when second in a hunter at Taunton on penultimate start. Perhaps found the race coming too soon next time but he's hardly the most reliable. Holding his form has been a challenge and he was well beaten by Espoir De Guye last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (18) (14/1 -180%) Spyglass Hill |
14/1(-180%) | (18) Spyglass Hill 14/1, First run since leaving Henry De Bromhead when readily landing 8-runner hunter chase at Haydock (22.2f, heavy, 9/1) 54 days ago. Has plenty of class and, while he's prone to mistakes, it will be interesting to see how he takes to these fences. Class act on his day and the form of hunter chase debut win at Haydock commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (33/1 +0%) Espoir De Guye |
33/1(+0%) | (7) Espoir De Guye 33/1, Useful chaser at his best and, returned to positive tactics, looked to retain all of that ability when scoring at Wincanton in February. Not disgraced when second at Ludlow next time, so shouldn't be completely dismissed. Has to bounce back from a shock defeat at Ludlow at the hands of Captain Tommy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (22) (66/1 +47%) Windsor Avenue |
66/1(+47%) | (22) Windsor Avenue 66/1, Fairly useful chaser on his day and took a step back in the right direction when runner-up at Catterick a month ago. Something to find and several others are more persuasive. Recent hunter chase form unconvincing, beaten by Spyglass Hill and Gaboriot the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (125/1 -25%) Focus Point |
125/1(-25%) | (8) Focus Point 125/1, Only effort in this sphere almost a year contained some encouragement. Multiple point winner who is unexposed, but big chunk of improvement is required. Prolific in points but not of late; runner-up at Down Royal in his previous hunter chase. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (125/1 -25%) Grand Roi |
125/1(-25%) | (10) Grand Roi 125/1, Fair chaser who has runner-up on Fakenham hunter debut in February and filled the same position behind Forest Chimes at Stratford on penultimate start. Tame display at Exeter last time, however, and he has plenty to find. His recent form is nowhere near good enough for a test of this magnitude. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) (150/1 -20%) Reikers Island |
150/1(-20%) | (16) Reikers Island 150/1, Useful chaser who was third in a point last season. Has shown plenty of ability over the years but he's struggled in the last two renewals of this. Has completed in his own time in the last two runnings of this race when 33-1 and 150-1. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
With six of the last 12 winners of this contest running at the Cheltenham Festival beforehand, both Its On The Line (second) and Time Leader (third) warrant respect after their efforts in defeat in the St. James's Place Festival Challenge Cup last month. However, 2022 Topham third ANNAMIX might put his experience over the Grand National fences to good use and he edges the vote. Willie Mullins' grey arrives on the back of a 10-length romp at Gowran Park and could give the Irish maestro a first victory in this race as a trainer, having landed it as an amateur jockey back in 1983.
ROMEO MAGICO was highly impressive at Down Royal last time and, while this is a much tougher assignment, the way he jumped and travelled that day indicates that there's a bigger effort in him, so he gets the nod ahead of his reliable stablemate Its On The Line, who was just denied at Cheltenham last time. Time Leader, one position behind It's On The Line last month, is also worthy of plenty of respect.
Last year's unfortunate fifth TIME LEADER (nap) can reverse Cheltenham placings with Its On The Line.

1st (2) (11/4 +54%) Mustajaab |
11/4(+54%) | (2) Mustajaab 11/4, C&D winner. Fifth of 6 in handicap at Newmarket (7f, good, 11/1), slowly away. Others preferred after 7-month absence. Off 229 days, but won over C&D last year after a similar absence; worth a second look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (3/1 +63%) Lion Tower |
3/1(+63%) | (6) Lion Tower 3/1, Course winner. 28/1, run best excused when eleventh of 18 in handicap at Doncaster (8f, heavy) 19 days ago, ridden too aggressively. Has good chance on pick of form. Well held on turf last time, but previously beaten a head at Newcastle; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (3/1 +25%) How Impressive |
3/1(+25%) | (4) How Impressive 3/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in March. Found himself trapped wide when ighth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 13/2) 13 days ago and isn't ruled out after largely productive spell. Below form last time but had won three of his four starts before that including over C&D. |

20/1(-100%) | (10) Flying Secret 20/1, Shaped better than the result when sixth of 12 in handicap (11/1) at Ascot (7f, good), racing on disadvantaged part of track. Off 6 months. Place claims if ready on tapeta debut. Back off last winning mark, but something to prove on Tapeta debut after six months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) (16/1 -60%) Touchwood |
16/1(-60%) | (11) Touchwood 16/1, Latest win at Lingfield in October. Eighth of 12 in handicap (17/2) at Wolverhampton (7.2f). Off 149 days. Needs a couple of these to falter. Still 7lb above his last winning mark and may find this level a bit warm for him now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (18/1 -125%) Orbaan |
18/1(-125%) | (1) Orbaan 18/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2022. 11/2 and visored for 1st time, eleventh of 12 in handicap at York (7.9f, heavy). Off 6 months. Shaped well several times in defeat last season and looks very interesting from this mark. Unplaced in his last 14 starts despite a sliding mark and returns from six months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (7/1 -56%) Another Investment |
7/1(-56%) | (3) Another Investment 7/1, 4/1, creditable third of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (6f). Yet to finish outside the frame on all-weather and he's not discounted after 149 days off. Return to 7f no problem, but 7lb above his last winning mark and has been off five months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) (18/1 -13%) Siam Fox |
18/1(-13%) | (8) Siam Fox 18/1, 22/1, bit below form fifth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (8f). Off 6 months. Not easy to make a case for. Has won on Tapeta and has won fresh, but this trip looks inadequate for him now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (25/1 -150%) Ultramarine |
25/1(-150%) | (9) Ultramarine 25/1, Winner at Kempton in February but again proved keener than ideal when 3¾ lengths sixth of 12 to How Impressive in handicap at this C&D 32 days ago. Can give a good account from this mark if proving more tractable. Four wins on the AW during the winter, but held behind How Impressive over C&D last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (28/1 -250%) Hectic |
28/1(-250%) | (5) Hectic 28/1, Not disgraced when sixth of 11 in handicap at Newbury (7f, good). Off 7 months. Makes tapeta debut. First run for yard after leaving Richard Hannon. Worth market check, 1-10 for Richard Hannon; makes stable/AW debut after eight months off; watch market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (80/1 -400%) Night Breeze |
80/1(-400%) | (12) Night Breeze 80/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 9/1, third of 4 in minor event at Chester (7.6f, heavy). Off 6 months. Makes handicap debut. More required. Well held in three starts last year; this looks a competitive race on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (150/1 -971%) Roundhay Park |
150/1(-971%) | (7) Roundhay Park 150/1, Three wins from 13 runs last year. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to soft, 10/1). Off 6 months. Makes tapeta debut. Must improve. Has won 12 times, but plenty to prove on AW debut on his 68th start after 196 days off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
An open event in which only a tentative vote can go to HOW IMPRESSIVE. Hugo Palmer's five-year-old could never get on terms with the leaders in a valuable sprint at Lingfield on Good Friday, but he will find things more to his liking here, with the return to further an added positive. Lion Tower struggled in the Spring Mile at Doncaster but he will appreciate being back on an artificial surface. Others to note include Another Investment and Mustajaab.
ORBAAN failed to win last season but produced a handful of sound efforts in much tougher company than this and he's taken to defy top-weight on his seasonal return. How Impressive has already won 3 times on all-weather this year and it's easy to give him a pass for his latest outing, so is feared, with Lion Tower another race-fit runner to consider.
The vote goes to LION TOWER who ended up well held in the Spring Mile but had previously gone down narrowly off this mark at Newcastle.

1st (6) (15/2 -150%) Aodhan May |
15/2(-150%) | (6) Aodhan May 15/2, 3 wins from 7 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Navan in March. Good second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Cork (24.3f, heavy, 9/2) 21 days ago, running on. Another bold bid is on the cards. Rapidly improving mare was just denied a four-timer at Cork; up another 4lb but go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (10/3 +67%) Cosmo Renfro |
10/3(+67%) | (10) Cosmo Renfro 10/3, Course winner (24.5f) in November. 6/1, creditable third of 15 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20f, heavy) 33 days ago. Booking of Quirke a plus. One for shortlist. Won over 3m here earlier in season and solid since; creeping up weights but can go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (18/1 -29%) Duffys Getaway |
18/1(-29%) | (9) Duffys Getaway 18/1, Latest win in hurdle at Punchestown in December. 12/1, fourth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Cork (24.4f, heavy) 11 days ago. Others more persuasive. Won twice earlier in the season and mostly good runs since; needs a bit more off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (28/1 -12%) West Cork Wildway |
28/1(-12%) | (1) West Cork Wildway 28/1, Beaten long way when third of 5 in minor event hurdle at Thurles (22.9f, heavy) 26 days ago. Others more appealing. Tailed off at Thurles on return from a long absence and best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (6/1 +0%) Sarah Beara |
6/1(+0%) | (5) Sarah Beara 6/1, Creditable 3¾ lengths third of 8 to Bioluminescence in Shannon Spray Mares Novices' Hurdle (28/1) at this course (22.3f, heavy) 32 days ago. Warrants respect back in handicap company. Consistent mare ran well in graded races last twice, incl' at this track; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (33/1 -65%) Hammersmith |
33/1(-65%) | (7) Hammersmith 33/1, Modest winner at 6f on flat. First run since leaving James A. Nash when fourth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (16f, 16/1) 83 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Significantly up in trip. Likely best watched. Just 1-18 over hurdles; cracking Flat AW run after a break last time; needs hurdles best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (12/1 +0%) Young Dev |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Young Dev 12/1, C&D winner. Latest win in chase at Navan in February. 15/2, eleventh of 12 in handicap chase at Uttoxeter (34f, heavy) 26 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Significantly down in trip. Work to do. Won over fences at Navan but didn't stay 4m2f last time; this his last winning hurdle mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (7/4 -17%) Linden Arden |
7/4(-17%) | (2) Linden Arden 7/4, Off the mark at Punchestown (19.9f) in February and built on that when creditable third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (23.7f, soft) 37 days ago. Hood on first time. Ought to go close. Won Punchestown maiden hurdle and solid Thurles handicap effort; hood tried; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (15/2 +63%) Storm Mahler |
15/2(+63%) | (8) Storm Mahler 15/2, C&D winner. 2 wins from 6 runs this season. 15/2, thirteenth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, heavy) 64 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Narrow C&D winner over Christmas but not as good off a higher mark since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LINDEN ARDEN's stamina appeared stretched by the extended 2m7f distance when weakening into third at Thurles last month. A first-time hood should help him settle and a second triumph over hurdles could be on the cards. Although the progressive Aodhan May was thwarted in her bid for a four-timer when runner-up at Cork, she should give another good account, while Sarah Beara is likely to appreciate this return to handicap company.
LINDEN ARDEN should be suited by the drop back in trip and can return to winning ways. Aodhan May and Cosmo Renfro rate the principal dangers.
The 2m7f trip in very testing ground might have stretched the stamina of LINDEN ARDEN too much at Thurles and this trip can suit.

1st (10) (10/1 +29%) Seymour Promise |
10/1(+29%) | (10) Seymour Promise 10/1, Long-standing maiden who has fallen a long way in the weights this season and ran best race for some time when second at Wincanton in January. However, merely underlined his inconsistency with 2 below par displays since. Runner-up at Wincanton in January but has struggled the last twice and is now 0-21. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (6/1 +0%) Boys Of Wexford |
6/1(+0%) | (9) Boys Of Wexford 6/1, Immediate improvement for the switch to fences last term, scoring on debut in this sphere at Uttoxeter. Low-key efforts initially this campaign but back on track in cheekpieces last 2 starts, second of 13 at Huntingdon (23.6f) 4 weeks ago. Respected from lowly mark. Modest strike-rate but good runs in defeat the last twice and might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (12/1 +52%) Est Illic |
12/1(+52%) | (8) Est Illic 12/1, Pair of 2m wins at the end of 2020 but has drawn a blank since, running on when race was al but over at Leicester in January and well beaten at Huntingdon (23.6f, soft) since. Passed over. Soundly beaten at Huntingdon last month and this 10yo is without a win since 2020. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (17/2 -55%) American Gerry |
17/2(-55%) | (1) American Gerry 17/2, Successful twice over hurdles in 2021/22 who struggled thereafter but showed benefit of recent run/wind op when finishing close-up third over fences at Plumpton (19.7f) 31 days ago. Well treated on pick of his hurdles form if he can build on that upped further in trip. Rallied for close third at Plumpton (2m3f) last month and one to consider now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/1 +55%) Hi Riko |
9/1(+55%) | (6) Hi Riko 9/1, Runner-up twice in handicap hurdles in November. matched that form when fourth at Lingfield in February but not in the same form at Hereford since. Pulled up in his previous chase. Pulled up in January on sole chase start; needs to be entirely different proposition today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (4/1 -33%) West Orchard |
4/1(-33%) | (7) West Orchard 4/1, Jumped well when successful at Plumpton in November and made frame on each of his last 3 starts, albeit not convincing with his finishing effort when runner-up at Wincanton (25f) 5 weeks ago. Probably one to take on for win purposes. Won at Plumpton in November and form of last-time-out second at Wincanton has been franked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (10/1 +29%) Rockwiththetimes |
10/1(+29%) | (3) Rockwiththetimes 10/1, Got off the mark in Irish points at second attempt but only minor promise in handful of hurdle outings. Cheekpieces replace visor now attentions switch to chasing and he's one to note in the market representing very good yard. No threat on his 4 hurdle runs but this point winner is a possible improver on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) (4/1 -33%) Pride Of Paris |
4/1(-33%) | (2) Pride Of Paris 4/1, Looked a potential improver upped in trip/sent handicapping and proved the point when narrowly edging out 8-rivals over hurdles at Fontwell (21.7f) in January. Remains one of the least exposed and good chance there's more to come now tackling larger obstacles. Chase debut; won over 2m5f in sole handicap hurdle and there's stamina in his pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (15/2 +6%) Malinas Island |
15/2(+6%) | (4) Malinas Island 15/2, Dual winner of staying handicaps over hurdles during 2021/22 and he shaped encouragingly back from a lengthy absence when fourth on C&D chase debut in November, weakening gradually straight. Given plenty of time since and he's worth a second look (very much bred to be a chaser). Fair 4th on chase debut in November after long absence; runs off last winning hurdle mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (25/1 -25%) Katopop |
25/1(-25%) | (5) Katopop 25/1, Runner-up completed start in points. Limited impact in trio of hurdle starts spread over 13 months but did at least hint at ability when midfield in 13-runner novice here (16.5f) 16 days ago. Tongue strap fitted ahead of handicap chase debut and another warranting a market check. Hasn't shown much over hurdles but the switch to fences and the step up in trip could help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (50/1 -52%) Aikenbreakinheart |
50/1(-52%) | (11) Aikenbreakinheart 50/1, Made the most of a good opportunity when opening his account in handicap chase at Wincanton (25.1f, soft) last March. However, struggled in 3 subsequent outings last year and would need to show more before becoming of interest. Won at Wincanton last March but has struggled on his three starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (100/1 -900%) Dont Be Robin |
100/1(-900%) | (12) Dont Be Robin 100/1, Veteran who scored at Plumpton in 2021 but well held all 5 outings last year and work to do from 6 lb out of the weights returning from 6 months off. 12yo who struggled to get competitive on his five runs last year. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
PRIDE OF PARIS made his handicap hurdling debut a winning one when scoring narrowly over an extended 2m5f at Fontwell in January. Stepping up further in trip and tackling fences for the first time, he gets the vote to go in again off a 5lb higher mark. West Orchard pulled clear with the eventual winner when second over 3m1f on heavy ground at Wincanton and he is respected. The rise in distance can help American Gerry put his best foot forward, although his winless run dates back to April 2022.
PRIDE OF PARIS impressed with his attitude when making a winning handicap debut over hurdles at Fontwell 74 days ago, seeing off a next-time-out winner in the process. Open to further progress now his attentions switch to chasing, he's well worth considering given his low-mileage profile. Malinas Island caught the eye to an extent when fourth on his C&D chase debut in November and rates capable of better. American Gery and Boys of Wexford are others to consider.
The very lightly raced 6yo PRIDE OF PARIS won on his handicap hurdle debut at Fontwell and is taken to follow up in his first chase.

1st (13) (5/1 +58%) Sans Bruit |
5/1(+58%) | (13) Sans Bruit 5/1, Smart winning hurdler/chaser in France who shaped well, on his first start over fences for Paul Nicholls, when second of 7 in handicap chase at Chepstow (16f, soft) 10 days ago. This is tougher but he may be capable of better in this sphere. 2 lb out of the weights. Six wins in France; useful effort back chasing on 3rd run for this yard; can figure. |

2nd (2) (9/2 +31%) Saint Roi |
9/2(+31%) | (2) Saint Roi 9/2, Strike rate not the best over fences but has caught the eye on several occasions in defeat and wasn't seen to best effect when sixth of 16 to Unexpected Party in Grand Annual at Cheltenham last month. 2 lb lower now and not taken lightly. Classy novice last winter, close 2nd over 2m4f at this meeting; work to do on recent runs. |

3rd (4) (15/2 -7%) Path D'oroux |
15/2(-7%) | (4) Path D'oroux 15/2, Yet to score over fences but has been progressing with each start and ran a cracker (in first-time cheekpieces) when third of 16 to Unexpected Party at Cheltenham (15.9f, heavy) last month. Likely to be in the mix again. Very solid 3rd to Unexpected Party at Cheltenham; 6lb turnaround for nearly 6l. |

4th (15) (33/1 -32%) Mayhem Mya |
33/1(-32%) | (15) Mayhem Mya 33/1, Fairly-useful hurdler who got off the mark in this sphere at Exeter (17.5f) in December and only narrowly failed to add to that success over same C&D last month. Looks to have plenty on from 6 lb out of the handicap here, however. Improved chase form this season; may well have more to come but 6lb out of weights. |

5th (8) (25/1 -39%) Triple Trade |
25/1(-39%) | (8) Triple Trade 25/1, Really got his act together over fences since last spring, adding another win to his tally when seeing off 6 rivals at Ascot (18.8f) over Christmas. Not been in same form since, however, and others make more appeal. Good spell before Christmas but well held in soft-ground races since and dropped just 1lb. |

6th (1) (11/1 +8%) Dancing On My Own |
11/1(+8%) | (1) Dancing On My Own 11/1, Has a fine record in handicap chases in UK, winning this contest (off 12 lb lower) last year and posted a personal best when scoring at Cheltenham (15.9f) in October. Likely primed for this again but testing conditions wouldn't be ideal. Runner-up here in 2022 and won last year; 12lb higher than last year; soft not ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (12/1 -50%) Homme Public |
12/1(-50%) | (5) Homme Public 12/1, Mutiple winner over hurdles who has found improvement since switched to the larger obstacles and posted a career best when taking 5-runner handicap chase at Doncaster (16.4f, soft) 40 days ago. This is more competitive but he can't be ruled out. Won 3 of 4 chases at 2m this winter but soft ground unlikely to be a help to him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (17/2 -13%) Heltenham |
17/2(-13%) | (7) Heltenham 17/2, Improved markedly for the switch to chasing, taking another step forward when landing 6-runner handicap at Newbury (19.9f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Drop back in trip could suit this strong-travelling sort and he is one for the shortlist. Never in better form than for recent 2m4f wins but up 6lb and having first 2m chase run. |

9th (11) (18/1 +0%) Black Gerry |
18/1(+0%) | (11) Black Gerry 18/1, Won all 4 of his starts (at up to 19.8f) when completing last season and posted much his best effort this term when second of 7 in Plumpton handicap chase (19.8f, good to soft) 10 days ago. Feasibly treated if able to build on that. Won all 3 completions last winter; slow to get going this season but better latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (50/1 -213%) Bythesametoken |
50/1(-213%) | (14) Bythesametoken 50/1, Back to winning ways at Killarney (17f) in October and acquitted himself well in defeat since, latest when sixth of 12 in handicap chase at Naas (16f, good to soft) 90 days ago. Asked a bigger question now, though. 2 lb out of the weights. Generally reliable and conditions will suit but looks up against it on balance of form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (33/1 -136%) Guy |
33/1(-136%) | (12) Guy 33/1, Back to winning ways in 8-runner handicap chase at Hereford (16f) in January but his wins have come in lower-grade contests and he would likely prefer better ground. 2 lb out of the weights. Two wins in lesser company this winter; out of weights and soft ground against him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (10) (18/1 -50%) Irish Blaze |
18/1(-50%) | (10) Irish Blaze 18/1, Free-going sort who has found improvement since switched to new yard, scoring at Down Royal (16f) in January before good third in novice chase at Punchestown (16f, heavy) 53 days ago. Fairly treated, back handicapping, and warrants respect. In good form but relatively exposed over fences and testing ground is a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (6/1 -33%) Unexpected Party |
6/1(-33%) | (3) Unexpected Party 6/1, Emerged with credit against some of the top-flight British novices of 2022/23 and bounced back to best when landing Grand Annual Chase at Cheltenham (15.9f, heavy) last month. 8 lb higher now but another bold bid looks likely. Near-copybook display when winning Grand Annual at Cheltenham; up 8lb; more to come at 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (8/1 +43%) Whiskeywealth |
8/1(+43%) | (9) Whiskeywealth 8/1, Proved better than ever when taking 11-runner handicap chase at Gowran (16f, heavy) last month. Has 11 lb higher mark to contend with here but is proven in testing conditions and could be a player. Acts well on heavy; in peak form with hurdle/chase wins on last 2 starts; no forlorn hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (80/1 -142%) Mackenberg |
80/1(-142%) | (6) Mackenberg 80/1, Five-time winner over fences who was poised to get back on the scoreboard before unseating rider late on at Hereford (16f, soft) last month. 4 lb higher now and finds himself in a much deeper conest. Talented on his day but pulled up at this meeting the last 2 years, in this race in 2023. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Unexpected Party clearly appreciated the step back to 2m when winning the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival last month but even though an 8lb rise doesn't look excessive, he has had a long season and it remains to be seen how much that race has taken out of him. IRISH BLAZE readily accounted for three subsequent winners on just his second start for this stable at Down Royal in January and after finishing a solid third behind two smart rivals at Punchestown subsequently, he represents some value and can outrun his forecast odds with Carl Millar claiming a handy 7lb off his back. The unexposed Sans Bruit finished second on his UK chasing bow at Chepstow and is just one other to consider.
HELTENHAM proved better than ever when scoring at Newbury last month and could be well served by a strongly-run race at the minimum trip. He is narrowly preferred to stable-companion Unexpected Party who was a convincing winner of the Grand Annual and remains feasibly treated. Path d'Oroux and Saint Roi are next best in a typically competitive renewal of this contest.
This can go to UNEXPECTED PARTY who looked well suited by this trip when winning at Cheltenham and should have more to come at 2m.

1st (6) (11/2 -10%) Churchella |
11/2(-10%) | (6) Churchella 11/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in March. Eleventh of 16 in handicap (4/1) at Chelmsford City (14f) 13 days ago, again very slowly away. Clearly remains on a good mark if able to put it all together but her temperament is a concern. C&D winner; ruined chance with very slow start at Chelmsford latest; can't be ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (10/1 -100%) Dark Mystery |
10/1(-100%) | (7) Dark Mystery 10/1, Caught wide throughout when ninth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f) 68 days ago. Some promise in last year's efforts and he's ruled out of making a greater impact from this mark. Winless since 2022 but not discredited when ninth at Wolver latest; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (20/1 +0%) Rock N Roll Pinkie |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Rock N Roll Pinkie 20/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable sixth of 10 in handicap (33/1) at this course (14.1f) 79 days ago. Likely to find a few too good once more. Not disgraced in cheekpieces when sixth here in January; no forlorn hope now up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (28/1 -522%) El Borracho |
28/1(-522%) | (1) El Borracho 28/1, One win from 3 runs last year. 8/1, fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Kempton (18f, good) 172 days ago. Off 172 days. Fairly useful on the Flat, good on last Flat run. Can make presence felt. Good Pontefract second in August and in winning form over fences since; needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (14/1 -56%) Evening Story |
14/1(-56%) | (3) Evening Story 14/1, Three wins from 7 runs last year. Latest win at Newcastle in November. 11/1, only fourth of 6 in handicap at this course (14.1f) 14 days ago. Others more persuasive. Only fair fourth here a fortnight ago; needs to take a step forward on first go over 2m. |

6th (4) (6/1 +33%) Pons Aelius |
6/1(+33%) | (4) Pons Aelius 6/1, Visored for 1st time, last of 12 in handicap (33/1) at Lingfield (15.8f, AW) 13 days ago. Now 7 lb below last winning mark but recent efforts haven't inspired confidence. Yet to fire in two runs this year, visored last at Lingfield latest; has a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (4/6 +51%) Savvy Brilliance |
4/6(+51%) | (2) Savvy Brilliance 4/6, Won final 2 starts in 2023 before producing a career best to complete hat-trick in 11-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (16.6f), edging ahead close home and being forced wide home bend. Off 95 days. Shortlist material. Did really well to complete hat-trick at Wolverhampton when carried wide; big player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SAVVY BRILLIANCE is on a steep upward curve and having proven his stamina with a gutsy win over this trip at Wolverhampton, the progressive four-year-old is hard to oppose in his bid to complete a four-timer. Rab Havlin has been in the saddle for each of the gelding's three successes and, with his services retained, a 2lb higher mark is not insurmountable. The versatile El Borracho is feared on his return to the Flat, while C&D winner Churchella also merits consideration.
SAVVY BRILLIANCE is fancied to land the 4-timer, having done well to overcome disadvantageous circumstances at Wolverhampton last time and been nudged up only 2 lb for doing so. El Borracho retained plenty of ability in this sphere last season and rates as next best after a spell back over fences, whilst Dark Mystery hasn't yet really had the rub of the green this season and remains on an interesting mark, so could complete the placings.
4yo SAVVY BRILLIANCE was carrying all before him when last seen so this low-mileage son of Cracksman is taken to return in style.

C'est Rien |
(13) (14/1 -40%)14/1(-40%) | (13) C'est Rien 14/1, Remains a maiden after 22 NH runs. Eighth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.6f, heavy, 17/2) 47 days ago. Tongue strap back on. A 22-race maiden, a few decent placed efforts over hurdles, not at her best lately. |

1st (4) (11/4 +73%) King Of Cong |
11/4(+73%) | (4) King Of Cong 11/4, Thrice-raced maiden. 18/1, seventh of 10 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16f, heavy) 56 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Should have more to offer. Jumping is a source of concern, leading point-to-point rider claims 7lb, may improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (18/1 -200%) Malinas Glory |
18/1(-200%) | (1) Malinas Glory 18/1, Fair maiden hurdler/chaser who was out of sorts when last seen under Rules last summer. However, he arrives here fit and in form from points, successful on latest outing (Feb. 25) and interesting what the market makes of him back over hurdles. Recent point winner, will not lack for fitness, all his best hurdles form at Clonmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (20/1 -25%) Beeverstown Place |
20/1(-25%) | (7) Beeverstown Place 20/1, Thirteenth of 14 in handicap hurdle at this course (16f, heavy, 14/1) 72 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Best form in maiden and handicap hurdles at Clonmel over 2m, poor form at this track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (16) (40/1 +0%) Champagne Rebel |
40/1(+0%) | (16) Champagne Rebel 40/1, First run since leaving Gearoid Patrick Brouder when 14/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (24f, soft), flattening second. Off 13 months. Down in trip. Hooded for 1st time. Lightly raced sort, absent since pulled up at Clonmel over a year ago, can only be watched. |

5th (15) (18/1 +45%) Little Token |
18/1(+45%) | (15) Little Token 18/1, One win from 32 NH runs. 12/1, again ran poorly when tenth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (16f, heavy) 56 days ago, beaten before home turn. Can only be watched. Over two years since her sole success at Clonmel, best run last year was at this venue. |

6th (2) (10/3 -21%) Getaway Master |
10/3(-21%) | (2) Getaway Master 10/3, 7/1, career best when winning 18-runner handicap hurdle at this course (22.3f, heavy) 32 days ago, driven clear. Rider's claim off-sets a chunk of his subsequent rise in weights and one to consider with a repeat. Raised 12lb for course win, rider's claim may enable him to uphold form with Grace Faraday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (8/1 -60%) Diamond Dollar |
8/1(-60%) | (5) Diamond Dollar 8/1, 18/1, eighth of 12 in handicap hurdle at this course (16.2f, heavy) 18 days ago, racing off the pace and never landing a blow. However, remains early days with him and this step up in trip could well help. One to note if market speaks in his favour. Chance is not obvious, might be a different proposition if the market signals confidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) (14/1 +72%) Fourleaf Shamrock |
14/1(+72%) | (10) Fourleaf Shamrock 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 100/1, sixth of 14 in handicap hurdle at this course (16f, heavy) 72 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. More needed. Needs to jump a great deal better than on her handicap debut, cheekpieces on now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (7/2 +13%) Grace Faraday |
7/2(+13%) | (3) Grace Faraday 7/2, Creditable second of 12 in handicap hurdle (9/2) at this course (16.2f, heavy) 18 days ago, ridden from home turn and keeping on. Claims with a repeat. Placed over contrasting distances on her last two visits, this intermediate trip may suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (25/1 +38%) Jonny Mansie |
25/1(+38%) | (11) Jonny Mansie 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Eighth of 13 in handicap hurdle (28/1) at Thurles (16.2f, soft) 37 days ago, losing touch from 3 out. Showed little in four maidens at big odds, down the field on handicap debut last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (12) (100/1 -400%) Out Of The Park |
100/1(-400%) | (12) Out Of The Park 100/1, 25/1, fourteenth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Cork (16f, heavy) 10 days ago. Much more needed now upped in trip. Made the frame in three points before a poor hurdles run at Cork ten days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (100/1 -52%) Oscar Tonic |
100/1(-52%) | (14) Oscar Tonic 100/1, Tenth of 12 in handicap hurdle (66/1) at this course (16.2f, heavy) 18 days ago. That was his first start for 10 months and this should reveal more. Won two points in 2021/22, struggled here last month on her first run since last May. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (6) (22/1 +12%) Bossofthebus |
22/1(+12%) | (6) Bossofthebus 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 200/1, fifteenth of 25 in novice hurdle at Naas (15.6f, heavy) 46 days ago. Back up in trip. Makes handicap hurdle debut. First run in a bumper last May was respectable, little appeal based on maiden hurdle runs.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (12/1 -20%) How Decc |
12/1(-20%) | (8) How Decc 12/1, Maiden who made the frame on 3 occasions over fences/hurdles last summer. Poor effort under more testing conditions when eighth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20.2f, heavy) in September and absent since. Failed to handle heavy ground when favourite last time, best form on good-to-yielding. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (17) (40/1 -21%) Five Minutes More |
40/1(-21%) | (17) Five Minutes More 40/1, 80/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20.2f, soft) 87 days ago. Nothing of any merit in her form so far, respect for trainer is the only positive aspect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
GETAWAY MASTER bolted up by 13 lengths over an extended 2m6f here last month and he has been hit with a 12lb rise for that success. The son of Getaway takes a step back in distance, but that shouldn't prevent him from following up. Blossom De Mai made the frame at Leopardstown last time and she remains on the same mark so could get competitive. Of the remainder, Grace Faraday makes the most appeal after her second over 2m here.
GETAWAY MASTER could hardly have been more impressive when opening his account in fine style over further here 32 days ago and, with his rider's claim off-setting a fair chunk of his subsequent weight rise, another bold bid looks on the cards. Grace Faraday is also respected following her recent second, whilst Diamond Dollar and Malinas Glory are another pair to monitor in the betting for positive vibes.
Diarmuid Moloney's 7lb claim could be crucial in enabling GETAAY MASTER to confirm last month's course form with Grace Faraday

1st (7) (6/5 +26%) Jena D'oudairies |
6/5(+26%) | (7) Jena D'oudairies 6/5, Nicely-bred mare who has shaped with encouragement when third on both starts to date, clear of the rest at Hereford a month ago. Capable of opening her account now. Shaped well when third in bumpers at Ludlow/Hereford; more to offer so leading claims. |

2nd (8) (12/1 +52%) French Ship |
12/1(+52%) | (8) French Ship 12/1, Never a threat at Kempton on debut and will need to step forward significantly if he's to make his presence felt. Well-held fourth in bumper at Kempton; this Crillon gelding needs to step forward. |

3rd (1) (22/1 +45%) Chedington's Guest |
22/1(+45%) | (1) Chedington's Guest 22/1, From a successful family but has looked more one for the longer term on both starts to date. Remote fourth in Exeter bumper in February; he needs to take a big step forward. |

4th (3) (7/2 +50%) Jaccours |
7/2(+50%) | (3) Jaccours 7/2, Sent off 10/3 before a disappointing start at Aintree 107 days ago but has been given time off since, so may do better for a stable with a solid bumper record. Encouraging debut fourth in bumper at Aintree on Boxing Day; not discounted after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (6/1 -71%) Jack Out Of Reach |
6/1(-71%) | (4) Jack Out Of Reach 6/1, Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/fair chaser Jubilympics. Much better effort in bumpers when runner-up at Fakenham 55 days ago and should feature if he's able to back that up. Much improved when second in Fakenham bumper in February; must enter calculations. |

6th (9) (33/1 -65%) My Boy Aaron |
33/1(-65%) | (9) My Boy Aaron 33/1, Related to a couple of winners and, while he failed to beat a rival in a 4-runner event at Chepstow 25 days ago, there was a hint of ability. Last of four in bumper at Chepstow (soft) on his debut 25 days ago; more is required. |

7th (5) (9/2 +10%) Western Knight |
9/2(+10%) | (5) Western Knight 9/2, Half-brother to bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Ballybawn Belter. Showed plenty when runner-up at Plumpton on debut a year ago but obvious concern that he's not been seen since. Worth monitoring in the betting. Promising debut second in bumper at Plumpton 12 months ago; worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (66/1 -32%) Dessie Haze |
66/1(-32%) | (2) Dessie Haze 66/1, Black Sam Bellamy gelding. Brother to modest hurdler Beau Haze. Dam (h145) bumper/2m-2¾m hurdle winner. Not an obvious sort on paper. Market can prove a good guide for this son of Black Sam Bellamy. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WESTERN KNIGHT showed distinct promise at Plumpton a year ago and having been given plenty of time to mature, the son of Westerner is a highly appealing option for Joe Tizzard to be reintroducing at this stage of the season. Open to any amount of improvement, the five-year-old is taken to go one better than that second-placed finish on his racecourse bow. Jaccours and Jena D'oudairies are a couple of others to monitor closely in the betting.
JENA D'OUDAIRIES came well clear of the remainder when third at Hereford last time and a performance of similar merit could be enough to get off the mark for all that others are quite closely matched on form. Woodland Park looks open to improvement and could emerge as the main danger.
Paul Nicholls' JENA D'OUDAIRIES has gone with promise when third on both her bumper starts and can open her account

13/2(+13%) | (3) Diva Luna 13/2, Runner-up on her only outing in points and justified connections decision to go straight for listed company when making a successful Rules debut at Market Rasen a couple of months ago. Open to improvement and likely to play a part. Made all to beat Listentoyourheart in Listed race at Market Rasen; should improve further. |

2nd (6) (10/1 -67%) Jubilee Alpha |
10/1(-67%) | (6) Jubilee Alpha 10/1, Half-sister to bumper winner Four Clean Aces and looked well above average when forging clear to make a successful start at Wincanton 70 days ago. Seemingly saved for this, so worthy of respect for top yard. Justified favouritism with a 2l win at Wincanton; represents top stable; useful prospect. |

3rd (14) (40/1 -43%) La Marquise |
40/1(-43%) | (14) La Marquise 40/1, Had a bit in hand when winning on her debut at Stratford (2m, heavy) at the start of November and right back on track when landing a 7-runner event at Cheptsow three weeks ago. Others achieved a good deal more, however. Rebounded to win at Chepstow; faces a tougher task back up in grade. |

4th (9) (16/1 +20%) Metkayina |
16/1(+20%) | (9) Metkayina 16/1, Shaped well when third of 16 in bumper at Galway (heavy) on debut on debut and, having left Sam Curling, made an impressive start for this yard when comfortably seeing off Solid Silver at Ludlow 4 months ago. Could do better still, so no forlorn hope. Sold out of Sam Curling's yard for £100,000 since Ludlow win; open to further improvement. |

5th (8) (10/1 +29%) Listentoyourheart |
10/1(+29%) | (8) Listentoyourheart 10/1, Out of a dual bumper winner and got on top close home when making a winning start at Sedgefield. Both subsequent efforts have been creditable and a good pace should play to her strengths, so not a forlorn hope. Good second to Diva Luna at Market Rasen; helps to give Dan Skelton a solid hand. |

20/1(-82%) | (12) Speculatrix 20/1, Looked useful when winning 10-runner bumper at Punchestown 13 months ago. Concern that she's been off since but seems well regarded and is worthy of a market check on return. Absent since debut win at Punchestown in February 2023; heed the market signals. |

7th (17) (80/1 -264%) Not Now Nathaniel |
80/1(-264%) | (17) Not Now Nathaniel 80/1, Made ideal start when scoring at Newcastle in January and not disgraced in a stronger contest at Newbury next time. Others have more potential, though. Won at Newcastle then ran well at Newbury; this is another step up in class. |

50/1(-100%) | (7) Just Call Me Lucy 50/1, Related to a point winner and shaped with encouragement on debut at this track. Came up well short behind Honky Tonk Highway at Sandown; opposed. |

9th (18) (40/1 -60%) Park Princess |
40/1(-60%) | (18) Park Princess 40/1, Half-sister to 4 winners and more than lived up to market expectations (sent off 2/1 favourite) when landing a big-field Newbury bumper (16.3f, heavy) in good style in December. Only fourth in listed company at Market Rasen next time but remains with potential. Won by 10l at Newbury; behind two of these rivals at Market Rasen since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (10/3 +17%) Honky Tonk Highway |
10/3(+17%) | (5) Honky Tonk Highway 10/3, Expensive purchase after winning her only start in points and justified strong support when landing a listed contest at Sandown on her first go under Rules. Held in high regard and worth a chance to maintain her unbeaten record. Stuck on well at Sandown (Listed) despite still seeming green; promising mare; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (2/1 +50%) Baby Kate |
2/1(+50%) | (2) Baby Kate 2/1, Unbeaten in two starts to date, including a likeable performance to land a listed event at Cheltenham back in November. Not seen since but expert handler should have her well prepared for this, so boasts obvious claims. Took her record to 2-2 with clearcut Listed win at Cheltenham; major contender. |

12th (13) (125/1 -213%) Wednesday Addams |
125/1(-213%) | (13) Wednesday Addams 125/1, Successful on last of 3 starts in Irish points (Nov 12) and showed plenty when second at Wetherby on debut. Hit the frame at Newbury next time but has a bit to find in this company. Has not done enough to suggest she's up to this standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (15) (40/1 +39%) Letterston Lily |
40/1(+39%) | (15) Letterston Lily 40/1, Getaway filly. Sister to bumper winner/fair 2½m hurdle winner Letterston Lady. Likely to come up short starting out at this level. Attractively bred but makes debut in deep waters. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (10) (8/1 +27%) Mongibello |
8/1(+27%) | (10) Mongibello 8/1, Readily off the mark at the second attempt in Down Royal bumper in December and prominent in the betting before disappointing in Grade 2 company at Leopardstown a couple of months ago. Too soon to write off. Recorded a useful RPR when scoring at Down Royal; disappointing at the DRF since. |

15th (4) (100/1 -52%) Future Fortune |
100/1(-52%) | (4) Future Fortune 100/1, Out of a winning chaser but showed enough know-how to make a successful bumper debut at Hereford in October. Hasn't matched that since and faces a stiff task. Has failed to build on her Hereford success in two subsequent runs. |

|PU| (16) (125/1 -468%) Nala The Lioness |
125/1(-468%) | (16) Nala The Lioness 125/1, Related to a couple of Flat winners and has only found one on each of her three starts to date. Visored for the first time but has a good chunk of improvement to find if she's to compete. Consistent thus far but needs to find improvement for first-time headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
BABY KATE is a mare of huge potential and has a live chance of giving Willie Mullins his second winner of this race. Although small in stature, the daughter of Champs Elysees proved she has a big engine when landing a Listed bumper at Cheltenham and, considering her dam also won at that level before going on to Grade 1 success over hurdles, the future is bright for this progressive five-year-old. Honky Tonk Highway also defends an unblemished record and, with the ground in her favour, a big run is expected. Jubilee Alpha and Speculatrix are other promising types to consider.
HONKY TONK HIGHWAY made a good impression between the flags and, sent off favourite in a listed event on Rules debut, she looked a classy mare when supplementing that success at Sandown. She's narrowly preferred to Baby Kate, who has achieved a bit more, while Diva Luna and Jubilee Alpha also make plenty of appeal on the back of winning starts in this sphere.
The two most appealing contenders are HONKY TONK HIGHWAY (narrowly preferred) and Diva Luna.

1st (1) (18/1 -80%) Many A Star |
18/1(-80%) | (1) Many A Star 18/1, Won at Goodwood in August for Paul & Oliver Cole but hasn't yet fired for current yard. Tongue strap back on. Others preferred. 0-8 on AW but he's dropping in class and a return to form would come as no surprise. |

2nd (4) (7/2 +22%) Whenthedealinsdone |
7/2(+22%) | (4) Whenthedealinsdone 7/2, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. 14/1, creditable third of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 35 days ago, nearest finish. Makes tapeta debut. Lurks on an interesting mark and shouldn't be discounted. Useful in his pomp and signs a wind op had worked when 3rd at Lingfield latest; e-w shout. |

3rd (2) (11/2 +0%) Gulliver |
11/2(+0%) | (2) Gulliver 11/2, C&D winner. 5/1, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at this C&D 56 days ago. Not getting any quicker nowadays but still has frame claims from this mark. Ended losing run in C&D handicap in September; can't discount dropped to his first Class 5. |

3/1(+14%) | (3) Westmorian 3/1, Course winner. Latest win at Newcastle in March. 16/5, creditable second of 10 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Can't be ruled out on current form. Comes here in top form, runner-up over C&D the last twice; should go well again. |

5th (7) (12/1 -20%) Sacred Falls |
12/1(-20%) | (7) Sacred Falls 12/1, Winner at Ayr in October. Respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 13/2). Off 153 days. Not discounted if sharp enough on comeback run. Progressive in first season of racing last year; can do better but conceding race fitness. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (5/1 -67%) Airshow |
5/1(-67%) | (6) Airshow 5/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Chelmsford City in March. Good second of 13 in handicap at this C&D (15/2) 11 days ago, faring best of those ridden prominently. Looks competitive on form. 7f win last month was followed by a close 2nd over C&D; 2lb well in; one for the shortlist. |

7th (5) (16/1 -45%) Kandy King |
16/1(-45%) | (5) Kandy King 16/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 10 in maiden at this course (7.1f, 28/1) 16 days ago. Makes handicap debut from stiff-looking mark. Promise in 7f maidens here and he's bred to be a sprinter; yard in form; can do better. |

8th (8) (7/1 +42%) Blackjack |
7/1(+42%) | (8) Blackjack 7/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Chelmsford City in February. Again below form when sixth of 8 in handicap at this course (7.1f, 10/1) 22 days ago. Bounce back required. Conditions to suit and has claims on his Chelmsford win in February; not kicked on since. |

9th (9) (14/1 -40%) Beylerbeyi |
14/1(-40%) | (9) Beylerbeyi 14/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Tenth of 11 in handicap (13/2) at Newcastle (5f) 41 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Step back up to 6f is a positive but possible he's better over further still and never the easiest of rides, so others preferred. Not straightforward but he's got plenty of ability and should be winning soon. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WESTMORIAN has the ability to rule the roost in this company and on the back of a string of solid efforts, the five-year-old looks the one to be with. Gulliver is still a very capable sprinter who can never confidently be ruled out, especially while he is on a competitive handicap mark. Airshow and Whenthedealinsdone are a couple of other each-way players who can make this interesting, for the minor honours at least.
AIRSHOW scored under an attacking ride at Chelmsford in March and was collared only late over C&D 11 days ago, so is fancied to continue his strong run of form. Whenthedealinsdone has slipped in the weights and showed plenty to be encouraged by at Lingfield last month and rates as a potential lurker, with Westmorian also capable of extending his good spell.
Westmorian looks booked for another big run but MANY A STAR is on a dangerous mark and might be worth chancing.

4th (3) (13/8 +68%) Harrys Annie |
13/8(+68%) | (3) Harrys Annie 13/8, Twice-raced maiden. 10/3, second of 12 in bumper at Punchestown (16.2f, soft) 87 days ago. Worthy of consideration. Second in two points and on both bumper starts, chased home a smart mare at Punchestown. |

5th (10) (200/1 -33%) So Far Away |
200/1(-33%) | (10) So Far Away 200/1, Once-raced maiden. Eighth of 10 in bumper at Navan (16f, heavy, 80/1) on NH debut 124 days ago. Completely tailed off first time at Navan in December, seems safe to rule out. |

7/2(+30%) | (4) Knockarina 7/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Second of 8 in bumper at Cork (16f, heavy, 10/3) 96 days ago, running on. Not dismissed. Form of the Cork race in which she was second has been significantly boosted by the winner. |

12/1(+14%) | (11) Whatsupnellie 12/1, Twice-raced maiden. 14/1, fourth of 16 in bumper at Thurles (15.9f, good to soft) 116 days ago. Showed up for a long way when third at Limerick, signs of ability again at Thurles. |

8th (1) (100/1 -100%) Doyen Flyer |
100/1(-100%) | (1) Doyen Flyer 100/1, Poor hurdler. Remains a maiden after 7 bumper runs. Creditable fourth of 9 in novice hurdle at this C&D (heavy, 33/1) 18 days ago. Switches from hurdles to bumpers. Last two runs have been over hurdles, has had plenty of chances in bumpers, no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (4/1 -45%) Lady Gooner |
4/1(-45%) | (5) Lady Gooner 4/1, Once-raced maiden. Second of 9 in bumper at Thurles (16.4f, soft, 7/4) on NH debut 49 days ago. Should improve and is worth taking a chance on. Second to a stablemate of Knockarina first time out at Thurles, unlikely to be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (25/1 +38%) Pointe A Pitre |
25/1(+38%) | (9) Pointe A Pitre 25/1, Once-raced maiden. Fourth of 11 in bumper at Cork (16f, heavy, 16/1) on NH debut. Off 12 months. Made the frame on her only start last season, likely to be capable of improvement. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
KNOCKARINA has improved with each of her three starts to date, with her latest second behind subsequent Listed winner Familiar Dreams by far her best performance. The daughter of Champs Elysees could still have more to offer and she looks the one to beat. Lady Gooner is likely to have her supporters once more after failing to justify favouritism but still producing a solid effort to fill the runner-up spot at Thurles in February. Neon Diamond holds an obvious chance too.
LADY GOONER was prominent in the betting and found only one too good at Thurles on debut so, with the potential for better, she's marginally preferred to Neon Diamond, who sets the standard on what's been achieved to this point. Crescent Moon is an interesting recruit from points.
This looks competitive. Form involving three-time bumper inner Familiar Dreams helps to build a good case for KNOCKARINA

3rd (4) (4/1 -78%) George Henry |
4/1(-78%) | (4) George Henry 4/1, Closely related to a couple of winners and shaped better than the result when ninth of 17 at Wincanton on debut, green and suffering interference. Off 5 months since and type to improve. Midfield at Wincanton in November in a race that has produced winners; should improve. |

Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 3m) Father Matt. Bred to need further but not without hope. 40,000euros 3yo; seventh foal; half-brother to bumper and 2m/2m4f hurdle winner Westerbee. |

28/1(-367%) | (3) Fury Lad 28/1, €25,000 3-y-o, £45,000 4-y-o, Milan gelding. Brother to a winner, and closely related to 2 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/chaser Ballycrystal, stayed 3m,. Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points (Oct 2023). Bought for £45,000 after going close in his second Irish point; form has been franked. |

7th (2) (8/13 +62%) Diamonds For Luck |
8/13(+62%) | (2) Diamonds For Luck 8/13, €28,000 3-y-o, £130,000 4-y-o, Diamond Boy gelding. Fell both starts in Irish points in March 2023 (every chance both occasions). Worth chancing on Rules debut for stable with good record in this sphere. Could easily have won both his Irish points as he held every chance on both occasions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (33/1 -450%) Icare Colombe |
33/1(-450%) | (5) Icare Colombe 33/1, Left debut form behind when third at a big price in 6-runner event at Southwell. Could do better still, so not ruled out. Didn't show much on debut but ran a lot better at Southwell (soft) when rallying for third. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DIAMONDS FOR LUCK might have fallen on both starts between the flags, but he showed promise in between the obstacles and having still swapped hands for 130,000 pounds last April, the five-year-old is too intriguing to ignore on his debut under Rules. Fellow point-to-point recruit Fury Lad is another to keep tabs on in the betting, while Rupert's Wish ticks the right boxes on pedigree and is also a must for consideration.
DIAMONDS FOR LUCK might have come down on both outings in points, but he was in with every chance on each occasion and has since been picked up for six figures, so he's worth chancing to make a winning Rules debut in a race where the bar isn't set very high. George Henry is a likely improver and Came From Nowhere can't be dismissed first time out.
This may go to DIAMONDS FOR LUCK despite his absence of a year. He held every chance when falling in both his Irish points.

3rd (1) (5/2 +38%) Ten Commitments |
5/2(+38%) | (1) Ten Commitments 5/2, Once-raced gelding. 33/1, third of 8 in maiden at Wolverhampton (7.2f) on debut, not knocked about. Off 100 days. Significantly down in trip but bred to have the speed for it. Some promise at Wolverhampton but he needs major improvement after a break; been gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (7/2 +50%) Dancing The Dream |
7/2(+50%) | (5) Dancing The Dream 7/2, Bated Breath filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including useful 1m-1¼m winner Burguillos and 9.5f-1½m winner Bollihope. Dam 2-y-o 1m winner who stayed 1½m. Has plenty of stamina in her pedigree and she could be a longer-term prospect. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MISS ANYA bounced back to form when second in a similar event over 5f at Wolverhampton last time and the daughter of Kodi Bear appears to be the one to beat on that evidence. Cervaro Della Sala was a consistent performer as a juvenile and has to be of interest on her return to action. Ten Commitments showed ability on his racecourse bow in January and should not be underestimated having been gelded since then.
CERVARO DELLA SALA has marginally the best form and could be the type to make a better 3yo, so she's worth chancing to make a winning return in a thin race. Miss Anya is closely matched on form and Ten Commitments is open to improvement, so they're both dangers.
The vote goes to MISS ANYA, who has had some near misses on AW and sets the standard. Cervaro Della Sala is feared most.

100/1(-150%) | (5) Peggoty 100/1, Course winner. 125/1, last of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW) 6 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Tailed off in both runs for new yard and has a lot to prove back in trip; blinkers on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
QUANAH was a close third over 5f at Catterick earlier in the month and the eight-year-old has to be of interest off the same mark here. Tilsworth Ony Ta has shown promise on his last couple of starts, including a second over course and distance in February, and he should not be underestimated. Others who merit places on the shortlist are Josies Kid, Stroxx and Viewfromthestars.
C&D scorer TILSWORTH ONY TA is fancied to resume winning ways now reverted in trip at the chief expense of handily-weighted Viewfromthestars. Recent Lingfield victor Suanni and C&D winner Stroxx also need factoring into this open handicap.
Top of the list is TILSWORTH ONY TA, who has a record of 244112 at this track. Last week's Catterick third Quanah is feared most.

8th (8) (14/1 -17%) Dollarindex |
14/1(-17%) | (8) Dollarindex 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 28/1, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 39 days ago. Warrants respect on polytrack debut. Fair fourth on handicap debut at Newcastle and could get involved if she can build on that. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
STACEY RACEY took a big step forward when winning on her handicap debut over 6f at Southwell a month ago, when she accounted for a subsequent winner. A 4lb rise in the ratings may underestimate this unexposed filly and she merits the utmost respect as a result. Piper's Fort is an obvious threat following his narrow defeat at Lingfield last time, while Southbank edges out Zachary to be the pick of the remainder.
PIPER'S FORT upped his game significantly when runner-up at Lingfield last month and remains fairly treated. He gets the nod. Dame Darcey and Stacey Racey are feared most.
Top of the list is STACEY RACEY, who won in good style on her handicap debut at Southwell and a 4lb rise for that success looks fair.

3rd (7) (4/1 +38%) Rathgar |

11/4(+50%) | (4) Capital Theory 11/4, Course winner. Seventh of 10 in handicap (11/2) at Wolverhampton (14f). Off 140 days. Not taken lightly on return to action. Dual course winner and he needs watching in market back at this track on his return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/1 +8%) Fleurman |
11/1(+8%) | (1) Fleurman 11/1, Two wins from 5 runs last year. Twelfth of 13 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, AW, 25/1) 41 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Something to find on form. On dangerous mark but he needs a major revival back in trip in new headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (10/1 -25%) Seal Of Solomon |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Seal Of Solomon 10/1, Course winner. Six wins from 18 Flat runs. 5/1, last of 7 in handicap at Newmarket (14f, good). Off 9 months. Won first time up last term and is worth a second look in the market. Record of 6-15 in handicaps but he has a bit to prove back up in grade after 292 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (11/2 +39%) Banana Three |
11/2(+39%) | (8) Banana Three 11/2, Winner at Dundalk (12f) in December and back to that sort of form when good third of 11 in handicap over same C&D 20 days ago. Respected. Good third at Dundalk (1m4f) last time and has claims if he can repeat that form. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Fleurman was well beaten at Lingfield last month but first-time blinkers could spark a revival. However, preference is for BARENBOIM, who is 1-2 at this track and finished a very pleasing third in what was a warm handicap at Lingfield last time. The hood was back on that day and he boasts a pretty good record when sporting that headgear (4-13). Capital Theory completes the shortlist.
BARENBOIM is an in-form course winner and likely to go well again. Banana Three and Rathgar can also make their presence felt.
The vote goes to BARENBOIM, who was a good third at Lingfield last time and is a big player if he gets a good pace back at this trip.

2nd (4) (4/5 +20%) So Logical |
4/5(+20%) | (4) So Logical 4/5, Made an encouraging start at Newmarket (7f) in October and stepped forward from that when second of 9 in minor event over same C&D later that month. Likely to progress further this term. Close second at Newmarket last October and sets good standard on her return; big player. |

3rd (2) (11/8 +21%) Cuban Melody |
11/8(+21%) | (2) Cuban Melody 11/8, Made a promising debut when second of 13 in minor event at Kempton (7f, 9/2) 15 days ago and should have learnt plenty from that experience. Made a good start when a 9-2 second at Kempton (7f) last month and she's respected. |

4th (3) (20/1 -43%) Heavenly Fire |
20/1(-43%) | (3) Heavenly Fire 20/1, Twice-raced filly. Sixth of 10 in minor event (8/1) at this C&D 28 days ago. Likely to be seen in better light when sent handicapping. Some promise at Lingfield but she failed to build on that when a remote sixth over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (33/1 -106%) Sparkling Belle |
33/1(-106%) | (5) Sparkling Belle 33/1, $25,000 yearling, Connect filly. Closely related/half-sister to 2 minor North American winners. $25,000 yearling; one of two newcomers for the yard and market should guide. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CUBAN MELODY shaped with plenty of promise when filling the runner-up berth on her debut at Kempton and the daughter of Havana Grey can find normal improvement to go one better. So Logical has produced two solid efforts so far in her young career, including a second at Newmarket in October, and she could have a say. Heavenly Fire rates best of the remaining trio.
SO LOGICAL built on her promising racecourse bow when runner-up at Newmarket in October and is taken to open her account here. Cuban Melody is also a potential improver and looks the obvious danger.
Cuban Melody is respected but preference is for SO LOGICAL, who sets a good standard on her close second at Newmarket last October.

1st (1) (9/1 -100%) For Pleasure |
9/1(-100%) | (1) For Pleasure 9/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time in this code when last of 8 in handicap at Southwell (12.1f, 16/1) 21 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Makes polytrack debut. Others appeal more. Two hurdle wins for new yard in December but was last of eight back on the Flat last month. |

2nd (2) (6/5 +40%) Daaris |
6/5(+40%) | (2) Daaris 6/5, Fit from jumps when a good second of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f, 4/1) 26 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Big shout nudged up 1 lb with his stamina drawn out more. Didn't get much luck when close second at Wolverhampton and he's respected back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (10/3 +5%) Merry Minister |
10/3(+5%) | (5) Merry Minister 10/3, Latest win at Lingfield in February. 3/1, seventh of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f) 27 days ago. Chance if rediscovering old form. Won at Lingfield in February but was disappointing last time; risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (7/1 +30%) Shadowfax |
7/1(+30%) | (4) Shadowfax 7/1, Course winner. Winner here in November. 40/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (16.5f) 21 days ago so needs to get back on track. Won here (1m6f) last November but he's struggled in three runs since; lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (4/1 -78%) Escarpment |
4/1(-78%) | (3) Escarpment 4/1, 16/5 and visored for 1st time, respectable third of 7 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 57 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Claims. Third on AW (1m6f/2m) last twice and he looks worth a try at this new trip; respected. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
DAARIS finished two lengths clear of the third in this grade at Wolverhampton on his latest outing and he competes off only 1lb higher this evening. Kevin Frost's five-year-old won't mind the step back up in trip and he can get his head back in front. Escarpment has his first crack at this distance in first-time cheekpieces, which makes him an interesting contender. Of the remainder, For Pleasure makes most appeal.
DAARIS signalled he's ready to go in when a staying-on second at Wolverhampton last time and gets the vote with this step up in trip also a plus. Mick Appleby's duo Escarpment and Shadowfax rate the main dangers and can chase home Kevin Frost's 5-y-o in that order.
Preference is for DAARIS (nap), who didn't get much luck when a strong-finishing second over 1m6f at Wolverhampton last month.
Ths is the racecard key.
