1st (2) (7/4 -7%) Atherstone Warrior |
7/4(-7%) | (2) Atherstone Warrior 7/4, Son of Coulsty who was coltish beforehand but shaped with definite promise when fourth in 15-runner Brocklesby at Doncaster 17 days ago, doing best of those who raced close up. Sure to have derived plenty from that and definite claims here. The Brocklesby form could be working out better but he ran well to finish fourth. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/2 -80%) Arabie |
9/2(-80%) | (1) Arabie 9/2, Foaled March 11. 92,000 gns yearling, Dandy Man colt. Half-brother to numerous winners, including smart winner up to 1m Master of War and useful 7f winner Mammas Girl. Dam maiden (stayed 1¼m). Of obvious interest on debut for yard boasting a fine record with their juveniles. Newcomer from a top yard and very tempting if at all strong in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (5/2 +38%) Dukes Of Haather |
5/2(+38%) | (3) Dukes Of Haather 5/2, Mohaather colt who was finding the penny dropping late on when finishing midfield in the Brocklesby at Doncaster (5f, heavy) 17 days ago, staying on final 1f without being knocked about. Looks sure to improve. Never dangerous in the Brocklesby after starting slowly; went off at only 7-2. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (100/1 -257%) Law Degree |
100/1(-257%) | (5) Law Degree 100/1, Foaled April 3. €16,000 foal, €6,500 yearling, Inns of Court gelding. Closely related to 6f/7f winner Midnight Fire. Dam unraced, closely related to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Adorn. Likely best watched on debut. 6,500euros yearling; third foal; closely related to 6f/7f winner Midnight Fire (RPR 81). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (28/1 -40%) Marry The Night |
28/1(-40%) | (6) Marry The Night 28/1, Foaled March 23. 15,000 gns yearling, Advertise colt. Brother to winner up to 6f Townsend Manor. Dam 6f winner. Boasts a speedy pedigree and another warranting a market check for clues ahead of debut. 15,000gns yearling; second foal; brother to 5f-6f winner Townsend Manor (inc 2yo/Qatar). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (14/1 -40%) General Gordon |
14/1(-40%) | (4) General Gordon 14/1, Invincible Army gelding. Half-brother to useful winner up to 1m Hafeet Alain. Raced off the pace and merely passed a few beaten rivals when ninth of 15 on debut in the Brocklesby at Doncaster last month. This ought to reveal more. 22-1 for the Brocklesby and ran okay despite finishing only ninth, challenging wide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (11/2 +0%) Jungle Sound |
11/2(+0%) | (7) Jungle Sound 11/2, Foaled April 23. Bungle Inthejungle filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 6.5f winner Finders Keepers. Dam, 5.7f-7f winner, half-sister to useful winner up to 1¼m Mr Scaramanga. Market should prove useful on debut. Half-sister to French 6.5f AW 2yo winner Finders Keepers; dam 5.7f turf/7f AW winner. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A highly encouraging fourth on his debut in the Brocklesby at Doncaster, ATHERSTONE WARRIOR didn't do himself any favours by hanging left but he kept on well and with improvement expected, he can get off the mark at the second time of asking. Arabie is related to several winners, including last year's Nell Gwyn heroine Mamma's Girl, so is an intriguing newcomer for the Karl Burke yard. Jungle Sound is another to note, especially if receiving market support.
ATHERSTONE WARRIOR was coltish in the preliminaries but still fared best of those ridden close-up when fourth on debut in the Brocklesby at Doncaster and he could be worth siding with to build on that. Karl Burke's juveniles always command respect and his appealing newcomer Arabie is of strong interest. Dukes of Haather, an encouraging seventh himself in the Brocklesby, is another likely improver.
He was only seventh in the Brocklesby but DUKES OF HAATHER shaped with considerable promise after starting slowly.

1st (3) (15/2 -36%) Trapista |
15/2(-36%) | (3) Trapista 15/2, Winning hurdler who is proving expensive to follow in this sphere, coming in last of 10 in handicap chase at Huntingdon (19.9f, soft) 27 days ago. Others are preferred. Dropped out of contention in the blink of an eye at Huntingdon and is now 0-12 over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/4 -13%) Pep Talking |
9/4(-13%) | (5) Pep Talking 9/4, Left his hurdles form well behind when winning 7-runner handicap chase at Huntingdon (16.5f, heavy) on his debut over fences 23 days ago. Not taken lightly despite a 7 lb rise. Didn't hang about over hurdles and made a successful chase debut at Huntingdon (2m, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/4 +21%) Famoso |
11/4(+21%) | (2) Famoso 11/4, C&D winner in January who has continued in good order, second of 5 in handicap chase back here 13 days ago. Expected to be bang there once again. C&D winner in January and has continued to run quite well in defeat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 -14%) Out Of Focus |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Out Of Focus 4/1, Bumper winner but maiden hurdler who reportedly broke blood vessel when eighth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Catterick (19.3f, soft) 42 days ago. Makes chase debut with more needed. Bumper winner who made the frame in handicaps over hurdles off marginally higher marks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (12/1 +52%) Hooky Street |
12/1(+52%) | (4) Hooky Street 12/1, Lightly-raced hurdler who was off 17 months before being pulled up in handicap hurdle at Taunton (23.9f, soft) 29 days ago. Lots to prove now going chasing with cheekpieces added. Hasn't built on some early promise and never threatened in his handicaps over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (15/2 -50%) Ensel Du Perche |
15/2(-50%) | (6) Ensel Du Perche 15/2, Won 2m1f handicap chases at Market Rasen and Cartmel last July and shaped well on his return when third of 9 in handicap chase at Huntingdon (16.5f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Needs considering with that run under his belt. Won twice last summer and his recent reappearance may have been needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (40/1 -100%) Lonimoss Bareliere |
40/1(-100%) | (8) Lonimoss Bareliere 40/1, Long-standing maiden. 9/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Southwell (15.8f, heavy) 36 days ago. Blinkers are reached for now. Has placed form over fences but a longstanding maiden and he's 7lb out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (125/1 -89%) Book Of Verse |
125/1(-89%) | (7) Book Of Verse 125/1, Poor maiden on Flat and over hurdles. Came in last of 5 on his chasing bow over C&D 13 days ago so it's easy to look elsewhere. Went off at 50-1 for recent chase debut here and ran accordingly; cheekpieces return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Winning pointer PEP TALKING proved a different proposition when winning on his chase debut at Huntingdon last month. A 7lb rise in the ratings looks far from insurmountable for Paul Webber's gelding and he could take all the beating. The main threat may emerge from Ensel Du Perche. Although thwarted in his hat-trick bid last time out, the veteran is entitled to improve for that third-placed reappearance, while the consistent Famoso is unlikely to be far away either.
FAMOSO can boast a C&D success and arrives at the top of his game so gets the nod here from Ensel du Perche who should run him close after returning with a promising Huntingdon third. Pep Talking should also have a say on the back of his recent success there.
A few with chances but chasing newcomer OUT OF FOCUS knocked on the door off similar marks as a hurdler.

1st (7) (3/1 +40%) Clansman |
3/1(+40%) | (7) Clansman 3/1, Latest win at Ayr in October. Excellent second of 16 in handicap back from 5 months off at Chelmsford City (14f, 40/1) 11 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Dual soft-ground winner last year; sound reappearance run on the AW; worth considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (9/1 +10%) Ebony Maw |
9/1(+10%) | (10) Ebony Maw 9/1, Successful twice in staying handicaps last season, latterly at Catterick (15.9f, heavy) in October. Possibly needed first start for 4 months when fifth of 6 in handicap (20/1) at Newcastle (12.4f) 17 days ago and underfoot conditions will pose no fears here. Goes well on testing ground; 2lb higher than 2m Catterick win in October; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (13/2 -30%) Dark Jedi |
13/2(-30%) | (2) Dark Jedi 13/2, Fairly useful gelding who was winless last term, failing to build on his encouraging second at Catterick when well beaten back at that venue in October. Mark has come down plenty but he's often needed his first run of the season to bring him on. Not won since 2022 (heavy); on a good mark now, but likely to be better for the run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (11/4 +63%) Enochdhu |
11/4(+63%) | (4) Enochdhu 11/4, Stepped up plenty on his comeback run last term when a comfortable winner at Windsor (11.5f, soft) in May and best effort thereafter when runner-up at Sandown (14f, heavy) in August. Exploits mixed thereafter but likely he'll sharpen up for last month's Kempton return fifth. Soft-ground winner last season; now 1lb lower; should improve on reappearance run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (11/2 +15%) V Twelve |
11/2(+15%) | (8) V Twelve 11/2, A fair winner for Ed Walker in 2022 who posted just about his best effort yet for present yard when scoring over hurdles at Wetherby (2m, heavy) 3 weeks ago, jumping on 2 out and staying on well. Interesting if he can back that up returned to the Flat from career-low mark in this sphere. Won a h'cap hurdle on soft last time; Flat winner off 4lb higher in 2022; each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (9/2 +18%) Real Terms |
9/2(+18%) | (1) Real Terms 9/2, Displayed a good attitude when resuming winning ways at Southwell (11.1f) in March and far from disgraced when fourth of 6 in handicap at Newcastle (16.2f) 17 days ago. Drop back down in trip rates a plus and forecast conditions will hold no fears. Won off 2lb lower on AW in March; just as effective on soft turf; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (33/1 -65%) Natchez Trace |
33/1(-65%) | (6) Natchez Trace 33/1, Resumed winning ways from the front at Southwell (12f) last June and similar form when placed at Chester (12.3f) a month later. Largely disappointing since though, and he needs to leave last month's Doncaster reappearance in his wake here. Sole turf win was on good in July 2021; AW winner last season, but out of form recently. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CLANSMAN returned from a break with a highly encouraging second over 1m6f at Chelmsford last month, and dropping further back in distance could help Liam Bailey's charge regain the winning thread. A Gift Of Love had to settle for third at Southwell when last seen, but the daughter of Frankel might be well treated off a mark of 74 on her handicap debut. In contrast, Dark Jedi and Real Terms hold no secrets from the handicapper but are no back numbers.
There were definite signs of encouragement to glean from A GIFT OF LOVE's exploits in maiden/novice events late on last year and, very much the type to improve further as she gains experience, Charlie Fellowes' well-bred filly is expected to go well now handicapping equipped with a first-time hood. Enochdhu, with a reappearance run under his belt, is respected back on turf along with Clansman. Real Terms can also get in the mix.
Conditions should be ideal for last season's Windsor winner ENOCHDHU who is taken to beat mudlarks Ebony Maw and V Twelve.

1st (7) (4/1 +50%) Shillanavogy |
4/1(+50%) | (7) Shillanavogy 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden who was much more prominent in the betting than previously over hurdles but shaped as if amiss when down the field on handicap debut at Wetherby last time. Has undergone a wind op since and it'll be interesting to see if the market vibes are again upbeat. Had wind surgery since seemingly performing below expectations on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (25/1 +24%) Ionity |
25/1(+24%) | (8) Ionity 25/1, Little to shout about so far and major improvement needed now that he ventures down the handicap route. Between between 32l and 57l in his qualifying races; handicapped accordingly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) (11/2 +31%) Whynotnowroy |
11/2(+31%) | (12) Whynotnowroy 11/2, Still to get his head in front but has acquitted himself fairly well off this mark in slow-ground 19f Taunton handicaps the last twice. Needs to raise his game a touch in order to gain the breakthrough but he's certainly in with an each-way shout. Between between 5l and 13l in a trio of 2m3f handicaps at Taunton since the hood went on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (5/1 +17%) Silver Atom |
5/1(+17%) | (10) Silver Atom 5/1, Remains a maiden in this sphere but has some decent bits and pieces of form to his name, particularly at this venue where he has made the frame on each of his 3 visits. Not beaten far when fourth behind Another Lord and Rocky Hill last time and should be on the premises once again. Came from further back than principals Another Lord and Rocky Hill when fourth here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (17/2 +15%) Black Occ |
17/2(+15%) | (1) Black Occ 17/2, Stepped up on Rules debut fourth when runner-up in a maiden hurdle at Bangor in October. However, well held both subsequent starts, including on handicap bow off a 3 lb higher mark last time. Tailed off on his handicap debut at Ludlow but that was a stronger handicap than this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (17/2 -21%) Crystal Mer |
17/2(-21%) | (2) Crystal Mer 17/2, Performed to a fair level in bumpers but below that level since switched to hurdles, beaten 20½ lengths when fourth of 14 on handicap debut at Huntingdon (19.6f, heavy) in February. Early days but improvement will be needed now tried in a tongue strap. Fairly promising latest run; Cobden is booked and a tongue-tie is added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (100/1 -300%) Princess Of Mercia |
100/1(-300%) | (4) Princess Of Mercia 100/1, Poor form at best in 4 starts for Lucinda Russell and it's hard to envisage this 7-y-o emerging on top here. No more than minor promise in four runs for Lucinda Russell; quiet on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (13) (150/1 -200%) Sally's Girl |
150/1(-200%) | (13) Sally's Girl 150/1, Little form in bumpers and similar story in this sphere to date. Very hard to recommend from a long way out of the handicap. Limited maiden and hard to take seriously from more than a stone out of the weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (15/8 +25%) Rocky Hill |
15/8(+25%) | (5) Rocky Hill 15/8, Sprung a 33/1 surprise on Kelso bumper debut for Ewan Whillans in April 2022. No show first 3 starts hurdling but, following a 14-month absence and sporting first-time cheekpieces, he produced a much-improved display when a length second to Another Lord over C&D on handicap bow. Big player. Returning from over a year out when pushing Another Lord to a length on his handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (33/1 +0%) Minella Majestic |
33/1(+0%) | (11) Minella Majestic 33/1, Point winner in 2019 but well held completed start in maiden hurdles in Ireland. The fitting of cheekpieces (omitted here) failed to have the desired effect when again well beaten on sole start for Paul Henderson last spring and best watched starting out for another new yard on this handicap bow. He's not back from another absence; has a lot to prove on stable/handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
C&D winner Another Lord dug deep when fending off the reopposing Rocky Hill (second) last month and both should have more to offer. However, it could be worth taking a chance on CEEJAYBE in first-time cheekpieces. The four-year-old is best excused his Fontwell flop in February as he likely wasn't over his exertions when runner-up six days earlier at Huntingdon. A reproduction of that penultimate performance may suffice in what looks an open affair.
ROCKY HILL and Silver Atom were second and fourth respectively in the C&D handicap won by Another Lord last month but both have very realistic claims of reversing the placings with that rival this time. Ready preference is for the unexposed Rocky Hill, who was returning from over a year off that day and he is open to further improvement. Buck of Maine is one to note in the betting on his handicap debut.
A whole host of these have chances but SHILLANAVOGY has had a wind op since a lot better was expected of him on his handicap debut.

1st (5) (7/2 -27%) Burj Malinka |
7/2(-27%) | (5) Burj Malinka 7/2, Latest win at Hamilton in September. 9/2, nearest at the finish when fourth of 10 in handicap at Doncaster (5f, soft) 16 days ago. Major claims back up in trip off an easing mark. Promise over 5f at Doncaster last time; return to 6f a plus; leading contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (12) (8/1 +68%) Stormy Pearl |
8/1(+68%) | (12) Stormy Pearl 8/1, 66/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 32 days ago. Hard to warm to. On a handy mark and she should appreciate today's return to turf; better on the cards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (12/1 -9%) Jack Of Clubs |
12/1(-9%) | (10) Jack Of Clubs 12/1, Ninth of 11 in handicap (20/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) when last seen. Off 165 days. Gone well here and one to note on return. Conditions should be fine but strike-rate is modest and he's returning from 165 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (7/1 +30%) The Gay Blade |
7/1(+30%) | (8) The Gay Blade 7/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in January. 14/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 18 days ago. Needs a wind op to spark improvement. Two AW wins this year; returns to turf with ground to suit; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (12/1 -9%) Dazy Mazy |
12/1(-9%) | (7) Dazy Mazy 12/1, 7/2, seventh of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 63 days ago, slowly away. Has work to do. Unexposed filly who shaped nicely on AW in January; slow turf an unknown factor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (22/1 -175%) Rwenearlytheredad |
22/1(-175%) | (4) Rwenearlytheredad 22/1, Three wins from 11 runs last year. Probably needed the run after 6 months off when ninth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (5f, soft) 16 days ago. Can build on it. Progressive last year and Doncaster reappearance not the run to judge him on; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (16/1 +0%) Happier |
16/1(+0%) | (1) Happier 16/1, Below-par sixth of 8 in handicap (10/1) at Redcar (6f, heavy). Off 172 days. Needs a couple of these to falter. Conditions should be fine but ended 2023 quietly and she's returning from 172 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (33/1 -230%) Lotus Rose |
33/1(-230%) | (3) Lotus Rose 33/1, Course winner but only fifth of 7 in handicap (15/2) at Southwell (5f). Off 6 months. Back up in trip with more needed. Course win last summer (5f, soft) came off 4lb higher mark; record fresh dents confidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (10/3 +67%) Run This Way |
10/3(+67%) | (9) Run This Way 10/3, C&D winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. 6/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to soft). Off 6 months. Needs to hit the ground running. On a losing run but conditions will suit and she's had a wind op since last seen; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (17/2 -31%) Selby's Pride |
17/2(-31%) | (2) Selby's Pride 17/2, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022 but only seventh of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (5f, soft, 17/2) 16 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Promising return at Newcastle but took backward step at Doncaster last time; down in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (11/1 -10%) Prospect |
11/1(-10%) | (6) Prospect 11/1, C&D winner. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Doncaster (5f, soft, 12/1) 16 days ago so needs to get back on track. C&D winner on soft ground two years ago; on a dangerous mark & sharper for recent return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (40/1 -300%) Sounds Of Spring |
40/1(-300%) | (11) Sounds Of Spring 40/1, Hooded for 1st time, last of 12 in handicap at Kempton (6f, 66/1) 13 days ago. Others appeal more. Not beaten a rival in three AW runs for new yard but the return to slow turf is a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) (28/1 -211%) Mr Trevor |
28/1(-211%) | (13) Mr Trevor 28/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Hamilton in September. Respectable seventh of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 10/1). Off 142 days. Not taken lightly. Better on AW but exploited lowly turf mark at Hamilton in September; absent 142 days. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
The suggestion is BURJ MALINKA, who has dropped to a mark 1lb below his last success and recent efforts suggest that the six-year-old is in good heart. Selby's Pride can give him the most to think about if bouncing back to the form that saw her finish runner-up at Newcastle on her penultimate outing. A three-time winner last season, Rwenearlytheredad completes the shortlist, along with the unexposed Dazy Mazy.
BURJ MALINKA teed himself up well for this when a running-on fourth at Doncaster and can resume winning ways now back up in trip off a lenient mark. Rwenearlytheredad is next on the list if, as expected, building on his reappearance Doncaster ninth. Both Jack of Clubs and Mr Trevor are weighted to have a say too in an open handicap.
Rwenearlytheredad and BURJ MALINKA (nap) may be the pair to focus on and the selection can capitalise on a good mark back over 6f.

1st (5) (5/1 +9%) Village Master |
5/1(+9%) | (5) Village Master 5/1, Runner-up in an Irish point and has shown a glimmer of promise over hurdles. Early switch to chasing is interesting given his background. Has finished tailed off in three novice hurdles (2m3f-2m5f) but he was placed in a point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (3/1 -20%) Jack Doyen |
3/1(-20%) | (4) Jack Doyen 3/1, Unreliable individual. Improved to win 8-runner handicap chase at this C&D (soft, 5/1) 13 days ago. Claims if he's in a similar mood. Prone to mistakes but won comfortably in the end here last time and just 5lb higher now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (7/2 +10%) Supasunrise |
7/2(+10%) | (2) Supasunrise 7/2, Doubled career tally at Warwick (20f) in November and largely given his running subsequently, creditable fourth of 13 at Huntingdon last time. Should be on the premises. Seemed to stay the 2m7f last time but drops back to his winning trip (2m4f, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (4/1 -20%) The Scorpion King |
4/1(-20%) | (1) The Scorpion King 4/1, Off the mark in a Fontwell handicap last month, though success looked unlikely for a long way, going in snatches and labouring before rallying to lead close home. Respected. Fontwell win looked unlikely as he was under the pump a long way from home; up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/2 +36%) Watchoutitscookie |
9/2(+36%) | (6) Watchoutitscookie 9/2, Poor hurdler who showed some aptitude for chasing under a positive ride when third at Exeter last time. Could make his presence felt in a weak race if he builds on that. 1-15 over hurdles; well held on chase debut but perhaps went off too fast on heavy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (28/1 -75%) Man Of The North |
28/1(-75%) | (7) Man Of The North 28/1, Veteran who was pulled up over hurdles at Leicester 3 months ago and arrives with a fair bit to prove. Last seen three months ago pulling up in a claiming hurdle; others safer. |

11/1(-47%) | (3) Kooky 11/1, Reached the frame in first 2 hurdles but has failed to kick on since sent into handicaps. Has work to do on chasing debut after a breathing operation. Has to turn things around now sent over fences but he has had a wind op. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having scored with something up his sleeve over C&D two weeks ago, a 5lb rise in the handicap may not be enough to stop JACK DOYEN from completing a double. Ben Case's charge ticks plenty of the right boxes and he may have enough in the locker to dispose of fellow last-time-out winner The Scorpion King. The six-year-old should have more to come after his Fontwell chase triumph and he isn't taken lightly, with Watchoutitscookie completing the shortlist.
Although looking a hard ride for most of the way, THE SCORPION KING was well on top at the finish when scoring at Fontwell last time and, in a weak race, he's worth chancing to follow up. Jack Doyen is another one to consider on the back of success over C&D and Watchoutitscookie can't be ruled out on the back of an encouraging chasing debut.
Jack Doyen is feared but SUPASUNRISE (nap) is having a consistent season and he looks sure to go well once more.

11/1(+0%) | (4) Nights Over Egypt 11/1, 28/1, good seventh of 15 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 11 days ago. Not firing at present but becoming well treated. 11-race maiden who usually runs over further; promise on soft as a 2yo; others look safer. |

15/2(+17%) | (13) Yazaman 15/2, Temperamental sort. One win from 39 Flat runs. Thirty eight runs since last win in 2020. Seventh of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 12/1) 28 days ago. Visor back on. Losing run stands at 38 since a winning 2yo debut; easy enough to have reservations. |

3rd (2) (12/1 -140%) Wreck It Ryley |
12/1(-140%) | (2) Wreck It Ryley 12/1, Respectable fourth of 12 in handicap at Redcar (7f, good to firm, 4/1). Off 6 months. First run for yard after leaving Grant Tuer. Not taken lightly. Two wins for G Tuer but he'll need to be in peak form to win after 195 days off; new yard. |

10/1(-67%) | (11) Enderman 10/1, Blinkered for 1st time, respectable fourth of 11 in handicap (5/1) at Newcastle (5f) 65 days ago. Can't be ruled out. On a handy mark and conditions won't be an issue; stall 1 might not be optimal though. |

5th (8) (10/3 +58%) Highjacked |
10/3(+58%) | (8) Highjacked 10/3, C&D winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. 8/1, eighth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f), missing break. Off 147 days. Drawn a blank since his two C&D wins in spring 2021; can go well fresh; dangerous mark. |

6th (6) (18/1 -100%) Purple Martini |
18/1(-100%) | (6) Purple Martini 18/1, Last of 9 in handicap at Redcar (6f, heavy, 11/1). Off 172 days. Likely to need the run, so others make more appeal. Two wins last year, including on her return; this could be the day to catch her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (5/1 +9%) Mattella |
5/1(+9%) | (3) Mattella 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable third of 9 in handicap (17/2) at Newcastle (6f) 25 days ago. Makes turf debut. Worth chancing in a thin race. Has shown winning potential on AW; suitability of slow turf a query. |

8th (5) (28/1 -40%) Pocket The Packet |
28/1(-40%) | (5) Pocket The Packet 28/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Last of 10 in handicap (25/1) at Newcastle (6f) 28 days ago. Struggled for this yard last year and he was well held on his return; slow turf a query. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (28/1 -133%) Dandy Spirit |
28/1(-133%) | (7) Dandy Spirit 28/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to soft, 18/1). Off 6 months. Given a chance by the handicapper. Conditions to suit and 5lb lower than for his last win; ended 2023 quietly though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) (7/2 +42%) Asadjumeirah |
7/2(+42%) | (9) Asadjumeirah 7/2, C&D winner. Thirty five runs since last win in 2022. Respectable sixth of 10 in handicap (7/1) at Newcastle (6f) 28 days ago. Shortlist material. Losing run stands at 35; C&D winner but usually seen on quicker ground. |

11th (10) (28/1 -75%) Many A Year |
28/1(-75%) | (10) Many A Year 28/1, Ninth of 12 in handicap at Kempton (6f, 33/1) 13 days ago, hampered. Others are more persuasive. Return to slow turf may help but he could only be considered if attracting support. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (40/1 -233%) Fylingdale |
40/1(-233%) | (12) Fylingdale 40/1, One win from 2 runs last year. 13/8, twelfth of 13 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f). Off 14 months. Absent for 448 days and yet to offer much on ground slower than good. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (25/1 -108%) Lily In The Jungle |
25/1(-108%) | (1) Lily In The Jungle 25/1, 9/1, first run since leaving Philip Kirby when last of 8 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 27 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Stable debut on AW can be excused and better is expected back on slow turf; new headgear. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MATTELLA posted a respectable third on her handicap bow at Newcastle last month. A 1lb drop in the ratings can only help the five-year-old and if proving as effective on her turf debut, a breakthrough victory could be on the cards. Judged on last year's efforts, seasonal/stable debutant Wreck It Ryley looks capable of winning off his current mark. He isn't taken lightly, while Enderman and Asadjumeirah aren't easily dismissed either.
Most have something to prove but MATTELLA is lightly raced and arrives on the back of a solid showing, so she's worth chancing on turf debut. Asadjumeirah should give his running and Enderman isn't without hope.
Highjacked looks likely to give a good account but LILY IN THE JUNGLE is preferred now back on turf.

8th (8) (10/1 -186%) Thatswhatshesaid |
10/1(-186%) | (8) Thatswhatshesaid 10/1, Made a winning start under Rules at Newcastle in January and ran to a similar level when fifth of 7 in bumper at Sedgefield (16.8f, heavy) 28 days ago. Warrants respect on hurdles bow. AW bumper winner; beaten under a penalty on soft; should make a hurdler. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Not the deepest of contests, which could present Newcastle bumper scorer THATSWHATSHESAID with the opportunity to make an immediate impact over hurdles. That said, newcomer Crystal Glance, who is a half-sister to the useful Harambe, would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to be involved on her debut. Ask Me Another posted a creditable third at Taunton last month and would not need much further progress to play a leading role.
This can go to ASK ME ANOTHER, who upped her game significantly when third at Taunton last month and remains open to improvement. Hurdling debutantes Crystal Glance and Thatswhatshesaid may provide the chief threat.
This looks very weak and ASK ME ANOTHER could be the answer after showing improved form at Taunton.

11/2(+35%) | (7) Ey Up It's Maggie 11/2, Fourth of 7 in handicap (33/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 30 days ago. Should strip fitter for that and goes well in testing conditions, so she's one to note from a handy mark. Promising return on AW last month; 5f on soft ground ideal; more appealing than most. |

Worth monitoring in the betting starting out for in-form yard. 0-5 for W Haggas last year; sold 25,000gns in September; has been gelded; soft ground a ?. |

13th (2) (40/1 -300%) Oso Rapido |
40/1(-300%) | (2) Oso Rapido 40/1, Latest win at Catterick in October. Respectable sixth of 12 in handicap (9/1) at Newcastle (7.1f). Off 150 days. Back down in trip. Not discounted. Two 6f wins last summer; returning from a break and having first run at a bare 5f. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ZARGUN relished the return to turf when making all on soft ground at Doncaster and a 6lb rise for Scott Dixon's veteran looks more than workable so he is taken to follow up. The returning Snazzy Jazzy lurks on an attractive mark, but he would make more appeal over further. With that in mind, a bigger threat may emerge in the shape of C&D winner Gemini Star, who should appreciate this ease in trip on her seasonal bow.
SHOWALONG is well treated and was successful second time out last year, so he might be worth chancing in an open race. Recent Doncaster winner Zargun is a player and Ey Up It's Maggie is respected based on her record on testing ground.
The eye is drawn to Showalong's record second time out but things look in place for a big run from ILLUSIONIST.

2nd (2) (6/4 -9%) Tour Ovalie |
6/4(-9%) | (2) Tour Ovalie 6/4, Fair in bumpers and not far off that level over hurdles, shaping better than the distance beaten suggests in a mares novice at Doncaster in March. Ran to a similar level switched to a handicap when second over C&D 13 days ago and remains unexposed. Consistent; runner-up on handicap debut here and has less to prove than most. |

3rd (4) (6/1 -33%) Mambo Beat |

16/1(-129%) | (5) Grandmaster Flash 16/1, Well held in a trio of maiden hurdles but his fairly useful Flat form suggests he could do better now handicapping in this sphere. Three AW wins in Ireland; lesser shows in Britain but makes handicap debut as a hurdler. |

5th (1) (12/1 -9%) Hobie |
12/1(-9%) | (1) Hobie 12/1, Irish point winner who stepped up on a low-key hurdles debut when landing a 2m Worcester maiden last May. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (18/1 -13%) Lunar Ocean |
18/1(-13%) | (7) Lunar Ocean 18/1, Little impact in bumpers/over hurdles so big step forward needed on handicap debut. Goes handicapping off a basement mark but with much to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Bernard Llewellyn could have two live chances with Mambo Beat and Grandmaster Flash, who make their handicap debuts in what appears to be a winnable contest. However, the vote goes to TOUR OVALIE, who looks to hold solid claims from an unchanged mark, despite proving to be no match for an impressive winner over course and distance 13 days ago.
TOUR OVALIE failed to build on the promise of her Doncaster effort when second in a C&D handicap last time but she remains unexposed and is well worth another chance. Mambo Beat should have more to offer now heading into handicaps over hurdles and is second choice ahead of stablemate Grandmaster Flash.
Although no match for the winner here last time, that was a solid start in handicaps for TOUR OVALIE and she has the least to prove.

Not in same form under a penalty when sixth of 8 in a Chelmsford novice a month later and opening mark demands more on return/handicap debut. Easy win on 3rd 2yo run (7f, good to soft); less good next time; needs more on h'cap debut. |

3rd (5) (5/1 -67%) Catton Lady |
5/1(-67%) | (5) Catton Lady 5/1, Lightly-raced filly who scored on debut at Carlisle (5f) last June and good placed efforts on 2 of next 3 starts, latterly when third of 11 in nursery at Pontefract (6f) in October. Appeals as being on a workable mark and she's one to consider on return with stamina tested further. Progressive sprinter at two; encouragement for 7f on pedigree; not fully exposed yet. |

11/4(+58%) | (4) Keep Warm 11/4, Improved switched to nurseries/equipped with a visor, winning back-to-back contests at Pontefract, and signed off with a good third of 7 in handicap at Ayr (1m) in September. Not out of things on return having been nudged up 1 lb. Yard also saddle Catton Lady. Improved for a visor last summer, winning twice at Pontefract (6f); no headgear on return. |

11/1(-83%) | (6) Dubai Hills 11/1, Fair maiden who has run right up to the pick of his 2-y-o form in couple of AW starts in recent weeks, creditable second of 8 in maiden at Lingfield (6f) 18 days ago. Worth another try at this trip and he has a fitness edge over plenty here. Blinkers back on. Two fair 6f runs on AW last month; 7f on soft going might stretch his stamina. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (16/1 -113%) Louella |
16/1(-113%) | (9) Louella 16/1, Invincible Army filly who remains a maiden after 7 starts, again running respectably when third of 11 in nursery at Newcastle (6f) in October. Versatile as regards trip but others preferred returning from 172 days off. Placed in all four nursery runs last year, including C&D; needs more to defy this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (16/1 -14%) Beechwood Star |
16/1(-14%) | (7) Beechwood Star 16/1, Placed on first 3 starts in novice company prior to a disappointing effort on nursery debut at Newcastle (7f) in August. Final 2 starts probably best excused but would need to see market support behind him on return having been gelded. Promise in novice races last year but struggled in nurseries; been gelded; down in weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) (6/1 -33%) Eulace Peacock |
6/1(-33%) | (1) Eulace Peacock 6/1, Dark Angel colt who ran to a fair level on 4 of his 5 starts as a 2-y-o. Not at very best returning from 4 months off when fourth of 8 at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 31 days ago but switches to handicaps now. Consistent rather than progressive in novice/maiden races; may do better now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (50/1 -150%) Old Bailey |
50/1(-150%) | (8) Old Bailey 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Fourth of 5 in maiden at Newcastle (5f, 25/1) 27 days ago. Significant step back up in trip a plus but opening mark demands improvement if he's to figure on handicap debut. Likely improver now back up in trip and switched to handicap company. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
DUBAI HILLS lost little in defeat when runner-up in a Lingfield maiden recently and the switch to turf shouldn't inconvenience the son of Adaay so he can open his account at the 10th time of asking. A gelding operation since Sea The Dream's third-placed effort at Haydock in late September should only improve his chance. He's feared most, ahead of Catton Lady, who is a potential improver now upped to 7f.
A winner on debut at Carlisle last summer, CATTON LADY improved subsequently, running well when third on nursery debut at Pontefract when last seen in October. Appealing as being on a workable mark, this longer trip could unlock further progress this year and she earns the vote. Sea The Dream has been gelded ahead of his return and is respected, with Dubai Hills and Eulace Peacock completing the shortlist.
Eulace Peacock and Catton Lady are on the shortlist but OLD BAILEY appeals as a likely big improver now handicapping.

Lit up and effort proved short lived on return from a year off over hurdles at Warwick (21f) 4 weeks ago and this promises to reveal more. Pulled up at Warwick after a year on the sidelines so current wellbeing is an issue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (12/1 -50%) Hermes Boy |
12/1(-50%) | (2) Hermes Boy 12/1, Mark eased plenty and capitalised on drop into class 5 company when successful in refitted cheekpieces at Wincanton (21.3f, heavy) in February. However, off the bridle from an early stage and well beaten when pulled up at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) 3 weeks ago. Looks risky with blinkers refitted. Capable as he showed two runs back but he's become a hard horse to trust. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (13/2 +35%) Iron D'ex |
13/2(+35%) | (7) Iron D'ex 13/2, Fair maiden hurdler who was fitted with first-time cheekpieces when a good second of 7 in handicap here (19.7f) in February. Not disgraced when fifth over C&D next time but needs to shrug off a poor run when pulled up at Bangor (23.2f, heavy) 17 days ago. Two good runs here before failing to stay 2m7f at Bangor after racing freely. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
EL GRANJERO recorded a well deserved maiden success over an extended 2m3f here last month and, although he will need to find more on this switch into handicap company, the Youmzain gelding might be up to the task. Hermes Boy was reported to have never been travelling when pulled up at Exeter three weeks ago, but he ought to hold every chance if putting his best foot forward, while Kapamazov might prove best of the remainder.
EL GRANJERO cemented his positive start over hurdles faced with a good opportunity when running out an easy winner here 2 weeks ago and he looks the solid option, with the return to further rating a likely plus now handicapping. Cabhfuilfungi is an intriguing debutant for the Kerry Lee stable and needs monitoring in the market on handicap bow, whilst Kapamazov should appreciate this step back up in trip.
It was all very easy for EL GRANJERO in a maiden here last time and he can continue the good work on his handicap debut.

(13) (80/1 -60%)80/1(-60%) | (13) Knight Of Magic 80/1, 80/1, seventh of 9 in minor event at Newcastle (8f) 33 days ago. Makes turf debut and hood refitted for this handicap debut. All Flat runs on Newcastle AW, achieving little at 7f-1m2f; up against it on turf debut. |

1st (2) (9/1 +18%) Hostelry |
9/1(+18%) | (2) Hostelry 9/1, Three wins from 15 runs last year. Bit below form seventh of 12 in handicap (22/1) at Newcastle (8f). Off 161 days and others are more persuasive. Three 1m wins in 2023; has been placed on last 3 reappearances and yard in fine form. |

2nd (5) (16/1 -14%) Lunario |
16/1(-14%) | (5) Lunario 16/1, Seventh of 9 in handicap (22/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 25 days ago and he's likely to find a few too good once more. Maiden; not always the strongest of stayers over 1m on AW and soft ground is a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (17/2 -155%) Love Your Work |
17/2(-155%) | (6) Love Your Work 17/2, Twenty runs since last win in 2022. Respectable third of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW, 5/1) 33 days ago. Just 1-18 on turf but no worries ground-wise and this 8-y-o has a solid chance. Below best on AW this winter but 6lb lower than a close 2nd at Chester on latest turf run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (14/1 -56%) Fitz Perfectly |
14/1(-56%) | (11) Fitz Perfectly 14/1, 14/1, respectable fourth of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 76 days ago, sticking to task. Hood on 1st time and could make her presence felt if able to step up on her previous turf efforts here. In the frame on last two AW runs at 1m but 0-3 on turf and has a headgear switch. |

6/1(-50%) | (10) Lockdown Lass 6/1, Three wins from 12 runs last year. Respectable third of 9 in handicap (5/2) at Doncaster (7f, heavy). Off 164 days. Conditions won't be a problem and each-way chance if ready to roll. Three wins at 7f and 1m in 2023; suited by soft; has gone well fresh the last 2 years. |

6th (12) (10/1 +29%) Kananga |
10/1(+29%) | (12) Kananga 10/1, 16/1, sixth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 56 days ago. Makes turf debut on a reasonable mark but whether he will handle conditions remains to be seen. All races on AW, doing best when 3rd at Wolverhampton (1m) in December; not as good since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (12/1 -140%) Sense Of Worth |
12/1(-140%) | (7) Sense Of Worth 12/1, Latest win at Southwell in December. Creditable second of 8 in handicap (11/4) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 31 days ago, conceding first run. Strong contender if able to continue the good work back on turf but his previous efforts on grass have not been at all inspiring. Vast majority of racing on AW; 0-8 on turf and last of ten in sole soft-ground handicap. |

8th (4) (7/1 +56%) Life On The Rocks |
7/1(+56%) | (4) Life On The Rocks 7/1, Ninth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 40/1) 20 days ago and it's easy enough to look elsewhere. Sole win at 1m2f as 4yo; missed 2023; below best on AW this year and has a ground query. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) (8/1 -14%) Devasboy |
8/1(-14%) | (8) Devasboy 8/1, Twenty-four runs since last win in 2022. Eighth of 11 in handicap (9/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 32 days ago. Goes on soft ground and down to an attractive mark, so he's one to consider. Acts on soft; down a long way in the weights and close 2nd on latest 1m start in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (9/2 +59%) Reel Prospect |
9/2(+59%) | (3) Reel Prospect 9/2, Winner at Newcastle in October but only ninth of 12 in handicap at that course (8f, 9/1) 39 days ago. Needs to get back on track. Promising turf debut as 3yo; won 1m novice on Tapeta in 2023; held in AW handicaps since. |

11th (1) (9/1 +10%) Global Spirit |
9/1(+10%) | (1) Global Spirit 9/1, 28/1, respectable eighth of 15 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 11 days ago. Now 2 lb below last winning mark and acts on slow ground, so there's cause for optimism. Has won on soft; will appreciate return to turf and 2lb lower than latest win on grass. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (50/1 -127%) Starshot |
50/1(-127%) | (9) Starshot 50/1, Fourth of 6 in handicap at Ayr (8f, soft, 28/1). Off 6 months and it's probably best to look elsewhere on this occasion. Maiden; best turf form when close 2nd over 1m on soft in August; lesser efforts since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
In a wide-open affair, a tentative vote goes to FITZ PERFECTLY. Charlie Fellowes' filly found 7f at Newcastle too sharp, prior to finishing a close-up fourth over a mile at Lingfield, and eased 1lb with a hood fitted for the first time, she edges preference. Underfoot conditions should hold no fears for the class-dropping Lockdown Lass and she has to be feared off just 2lb higher than her last winning mark. Sense Of Worth is respected too, although he saves his best form for an artificial surface.
It's been a while since LOVE YOUR WORK last got his head in front and his record on turf stands at 1-18 but, unlike several of these rivals, he arrives here on the back of a good effort. Furthermore, the 8-y-o was a solid second off a 6 lb higher mark at Chester on his sole run on turf last season and that was on heavy ground, so conditions here will not be a concern. Devasboy will also go on the ground and could be the main danger, while Global Spirit and Fitz Perfectly have claims, too.
Many possibilities but HOSTELRY should go well for her in-form yard with Global Spirit also respected now back at 1m on turf.

2nd (1) (7/4 +30%) Masterclass |
7/4(+30%) | (1) Masterclass 7/4, Fourth of 7 in handicap (17/2) at Lingfield (6f, AW) 5 days ago, nearest finish. Blinkers refitted and he has to be considered a player back down in grade. Runner-up over C&D last month and fair effort latest; others preferred at this trip though. |

3rd (6) (9/2 -80%) Birkenhead |
9/2(-80%) | (6) Birkenhead 9/2, C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 13/2, good third of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 15 days ago. Has to be taken seriously. C&D winner; good third at Newcastle latest; more appealing than most. |

14/1(+0%) | (5) Ernest Rutherford 14/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2021. 14/1, last of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (5f). Off 158 days. Reappears with something to prove. Down in the weights but he has an unconvincing profile for this yard. |

4/1(+38%) | (4) Brownlee 4/1, C&D winner who did too much too soon in a first-time hood when last of 6 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 78 days ago. C&D winner last winter but he's been quiet since an 11-month absence. |

6th (2) (5/1 -100%) Apache Star |
5/1(-100%) | (2) Apache Star 5/1, 18/1, proved at least as good as ever when second in 9-runner C&D handicap 12 days ago. Big chance with a repeat. In good form in the second half of 2023 and made a pleasing return here last month; solid. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Runner-up on each of his last three starts, including over C&D on his return from a break last month, APACHE STAR sets the standard and can notch up a fourth career victory. Not beaten far when only headed close home at Newcastle last time out, Birkenhead is entitled to be thereabouts, along with Masterclass, who has strong claims if bouncing back to the form of his penultimate second over track and trip.
BIRKENHEAD is on a handy mark and could be the answer having returned to form with a good third at Newcastle last month. Apache Star and Masterclass are considered the principal threats.
Birkenhead looks booked for another big run but APACHE STAR is preferred on the back of his promising reappearance 12 days ago.

Disappointed on Chelmsford return last month but better expected here. Blinkers on first time. 6f soft-ground winner last term; stays 7f well, well drawn and a chance with new headgear. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
HIGHFIELD VIKING should strip fitter for his lacklustre reappearance effort at Chelmsford and, sporting blinkers for the first time off 2lb higher than his last winning mark, he may be tough to stop. Ey Up Its Jazz was last seen finishing an excellent second behind a subsequent winner over C&D in September and he can give the selection most to think about. Russco is one of the likely pace angles in the race and even though his winless run is mounting up, he appears weighted to strike soon.
The reapplication of headgear could be the key to HIGHFIELD VIKING, who was below form on his Chelmsford comeback last month but goes well in testing conditions. He gets the nod. Ey Up Its Jazz and Russco head the list of dangers.
The vote goes to HIGHFIELD VIKING, who goes well on soft ground, has a good draw and should be sharper with the addition of blinkers.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Eve Johnson Houghton stable can do little wrong at present and the progressive ROBUSTO looks like a shrewd recruit, having scored comfortably on his last two all-weather outings when with Sir Mark Prescott. Stepping up in trip should bring about further improvement and he is preferred on his reappearance to Cool Party, who also returns from a break. Isle Of Sark was narrowly denied over 1m3f at Kempton last week and rounds out the shortlist.
There's potentially still more to come from ROBUSTO judged on the manner of his latest success, so he's taken to pick up where he left off for Sir Mark Prescott in the autumn. Isle of Sark has been shaping up well of late and is an obvious danger stepping back up in trip.
Preference is for COOL PARTY who is proven over the trip on turf and should appreciate the return to Class 4 level.

5/1(+17%) | (5) Parish Councillor 5/1, Lightly-raced winner who failed to fully repeat his last effort when fifth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) 25 days ago. Still early days. Out of the frame in last three starts, but ran better than it looked here last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
An impressive winner at Wolverhampton on his last start, INCREMENTAL should not be inconvenienced by a slight drop in trip and a mark of 80 could underestimate the four-year-old on his handicap bow. A progressive sort throughout last season, Bearwith returned with a promising second at Newcastle and he is on the shortlist along with Percy Willis, who has been in consistent form of late.
INCREMENTAL made all in impressive fashion at Wolverhampton in November and, with further improvement forthcoming now venturing into handicaps, he's taken to follow up. Bearwith and Percy Willis head the opposition.
The choice is BEARWITH who ran a blinder on his reappearance when chasing home a bang-in-form rival at Newcastle last month.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (12) (25/1 -79%) Rose'aid |
25/1(-79%) | (12) Rose'aid 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fifth of 12 in minor event (66/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 21 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Best effort so far when third in a C&D maiden; worth a second look on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (7) (33/1 -106%) Create |
33/1(-106%) | (7) Create 33/1, Lightly-raced winner. C&D winner. Eighth of 9 in handicap (12/1) at this C&D 70 days ago. Looks competitive on form if shrugging off latest effort. Not built on her successful debut here early last year but could bounce back at some point. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
GREAT BLASKET was only beaten a neck into second over C&D 12 days ago and the four-year-old merits the utmost respect off just a 1lb higher mark. Beau Gars remains unexposed and should not be underestimated following an encouraging effort on his handicap debut at this venue. Soames Forsyte edges out Streak Lightning and Sycamore to be the pick of the remainder.
Lots with chances so at the likely odds it is worth siding with KYNSA to capitalise on a handy-looking mark and make a winning start for her new stable. Great Blasket could emerge as the main danger to Kevin Philippart De Foy's new recruit ahead of in-form trio Sycamore, Monkmoor Pip and Streak Lightning.
The vote goes to STREAK LIGHTNING who looked as though he would be suited by the return to this trip when third at Newcastle last time.

17/2(-70%) | (9) Johnny Thunder 17/2, Once-raced maiden. 9/2, third of 7 in minor event at Newcastle (6f) on debut 22 days ago. May well do better. Third in a steadily run contest on his Newcastle debut; extra furlong should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (14/1 -250%) On Point |
14/1(-250%) | (1) On Point 14/1, Promising sort. Disappointed in Sandown listed race when last seen in May but had made a winning start at Newmarket (5f) previously and warrants respect on return/debut for new yard (gelded and left Charlie Appleby). Not seen since well beaten in a Listed race last May; watch market on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) (13/2 -86%) Imperial Express |
13/2(-86%) | (12) Imperial Express 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden who found improvement when third of 10 in minor event at Kempton (7f) in November, ridden 2f out and keeping on. 66/1(-32%) | (13) Mutaad 66/1, Awtaad filly. Dam, 7.4f/8.3f winner, half-sister to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Dawn Delivers. Wouldn't be an obvious winner on debut. |

GRESSINGTON won over C&D on his racecourse bow last September and was only a beaten a neck under a penalty on his sole subsequent outing at Redcar the following month. The now-gelded son of Outstrip sets the standard on that evidence and should be tough to beat. Imperial Express could prove to be the main threat, although On Point should not be discounted on his debut for the Julie Camacho team.
There should be more to come from GRESSINGTON this term and he is taken to make a winning return. Imperial Express and On Point rate the principal dangers.
The vote goes to GRESSINGTON who made a successful debut over C&D last autumn and lost little in defeat when just beaten next time.

1st (2) (11/1 -38%) Bellarchi |
11/1(-38%) | (2) Bellarchi 11/1, Three wins from 14 runs last year. 12/1, third of 5 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, heavy) 7 days ago, merely passing beaten rivals. Makes tapeta debut and others look stronger. Recent Pontefract return should have put her straight and granddam won six times on AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (4/1 +50%) Zainabb |
4/1(+50%) | (7) Zainabb 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 11 in nursery at Newmarket (7f, good to soft, 14/1). Off 167 days ahead of this tapeta debut and needs to raise her game. Has AW winners in her pedigree and market should be informative after 167 days off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (9/2 -35%) Royal Elysian |
9/2(-35%) | (5) Royal Elysian 9/2, Lightly-raced winner. Didn't need to improve to win 11-runner minor event at Newcastle (6f, 4/1) when last seen in September. Makes handicap debut off what looks a reasonable mark and she could have more to offer. Scored at Newcastle last September; respected on handicap debut after seven months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/4 +32%) Eleftheria |
9/4(+32%) | (3) Eleftheria 9/4, 4/1, career best when winning 10-runner minor event at Chelmsford City (7f) 26 days ago, driven out. More will be needed if she's to follow up on this handicap debut but that's by no means out of the question. Won on her Chelmsford return and may have more to offer; shortlisted on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 -64%) Never Fear |
9/2(-64%) | (4) Never Fear 9/2, Three wins from 6 runs last year. Career best when winning 10-runner nursery (5/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) on latest start in December. Shade more needed up 3 lb but her attitude is hard to fault and another bold show anticipated. 3-4 on Tapeta last year; respected if ready to go after four months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (33/1 -175%) Biplane |
33/1(-175%) | (1) Biplane 33/1, Course winner. Fifth of 6 in handicap (11/1) at this course (8.1f) 24 days ago. Wouldn't be without a chance off this mark if on-song but others make more appeal this time all the same. 4lb above her last winning mark and well held in both starts since returning last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (6/1 -20%) Bazball |
6/1(-20%) | (6) Bazball 6/1, Three wins from 13 runs last year. Tenth of 11 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 25/1) 11 days ago. That wasn't one of her better efforts but she was a good second over the same C&D on penultimate start, form which entitles her to serious respect. Blinkers applied. Been kept busy and this easier than her last two starts but stamina a concern; blinkers on. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ELEFTHERIA was the subject of market support when running out a determined winner at Chelmsford on her return and, off what looks a workable mark, she can make a successful handicap debut. The hat-trick seeking Never Fear appears to be the main danger, although she was all out to score at Newcastle in December when last seen and a 3lb rise demands more from her. Royal Elysian signed off her first campaign by getting off the mark over 6f at Newcastle and is respected back up to 7f on her handicap bow.
BAZBALL was below par at Newcastle recently but that run may have been needed following a three-month break. She had shaped well when third in a Class 2 handicap there on New Year's Day and, with this step back up to 7f a good move and with first-time blinkers enlisted, she could be the answer. The hat-trick seeking Never Fear won't go down without a fight, while both Royal Elysian and Eleftheria may have more to offer.
The vote goes to BELLARCHI who should be all the better for her recent Pontefract return and who is bred to take to the AW.

1st (5) (13/8 +64%) Socialist Agenda |
13/8(+64%) | (5) Socialist Agenda 13/8, Modest maiden who checked out tamely at Wolverhampton (14f) 5 days ago. Third in three consecutive starts here earlier this year; claims on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/4 -40%) Easy Equation |
7/4(-40%) | (1) Easy Equation 7/4, C&D winner who ran well when second of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (16.2f) 37 days ago, needing stiffer test. Expected to be bang there again. Record over C&D reads 1415332 and he looks the one to beat dropped slightly in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (5/1 -50%) Foinix |
5/1(-50%) | (4) Foinix 5/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Respectable third of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (14f, 9/4) 47 days ago. Can give another good account. 1-20 though placed in all four starts this year; shortlisted in an uncompetitive race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (28/1 -40%) Quiet Thunder |
28/1(-40%) | (7) Quiet Thunder 28/1, 12/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Hereford (19.7f, good to soft) 85 days ago. Modest on the Flat, ran below form on last run in this code. 1-23 under rules; ran poorly in all three starts on the AW last year; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) (22/1 -10%) Thelastwinterarrow |
22/1(-10%) | (8) Thelastwinterarrow 22/1, Ran badly in first-time blinkers when down the field in 11-runner minor event (20/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 29 days ago, slowly away. Significantly up in trip. Others more persuasive. Out of the frame in five starts; big step up in trip needs to make a dramatic difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (28/1 -12%) Balranald |
28/1(-12%) | (2) Balranald 28/1, Poor winner at 20f over hurdles. Last of 5 in handicap (66/1) at Newcastle (12.4f) 28 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Visored for 1st time. 3-44 under rules; up in trip but hard to recommend; visor on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (8/1 +60%) Toscan Genius |
8/1(+60%) | (3) Toscan Genius 8/1, Tenth of 14 in handicap (22/1) at this course (11.1f) 9 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Well held on recent return here (1m3f) and needs to step up; still has stamina to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
FOINIX (second) narrowly got the better of Easy Equation (third) when the pair met at Lingfield in February and having claimed more minor honours in two appearances since, he is expected to confirm his superiority en route to victory this time around. Socialist Agenda has slipped to a feasible mark and must be considered on recent form, if he can be forgiven a lacklustre showing over shorter at Wolverhampton last week.
EASY EQUATION typically got tapped for foot a little as the pace lifted at Newcastle last time and, assuming he's ridden a bit more aggressively, he should be more than capable of defying his current mark. Foinix rates the main threat ahead of Three Dons.
This looks good for EASY EQUATION (nap) who has been running well since joining this yard. His record over C&D reads 1415332.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
