Cloonainra sets the standard with an official rating of 123 and ought to be more than capable now eased in class, but preference is for GOOD TO BE ALIVE. Gordon Elliott's gelding bolted up on his debut before finding Grade 3 company a step too far last time, and it would come as no surprise were he to bounce back. Saracen Beau is also noted.

The mare CLOONAINRA has some smart form to her name and this looks her easiest opportunity for a while.

Ali Shuffle, Maaleezmagic and Piccalina all have something to recommend them on paper and are notable options for a shortlist. However, SUCKING DIESEL showed up well for a long way in the Brocklesby at Doncaster and is entitled to be a lot wiser with that experience to draw upon. Assuming the daughter of Aclaim handles the stalls procedure a little better, a more accomplished performance can be expected.

The only one of these to have raced is SUCKING DIESEL, who showed promise when eighth in the Brocklesby, and she earns the vote.

HIGH DANCER broke his maiden in impressive fashion at Haydock last month and, although 6lb higher back in a handicap, he could find the progress required to go in again. Diamond Dealer struck the woodwork off 2lb lower at Doncaster recently and is expected to be thereabouts once more, while others to note include Half Track and the returning Kilbrainy.

A few with chances but DIAMOND DEALER has his ground and ran well when a beaten favourite at Doncaster last month.

Being fitted with a visor helped HASHTAGNOTIONS win two of his last four starts on all weather and as he reverts to turf on a workable rating, Richard Fahey's gelding can play another strong role if the application continues to keep him focused. Flamborough Head has also shown enough to suggest he can be a player if handling the step up from 7f to a mile. Groundhog and Keats House complete the shortlist.

The step up in trip could be a firm plus for AMBER HONEY and she's the pick ahead of fellow handicap newcomer Hill O Rue.

MANARA has risen a total of 24lb since making her handicap debut three starts ago, racking up a hat-trick with consummate ease, and the daughter of Camelot might not be done improving yet. San Juanito landed a novice event over 1m1f here recently and looks a real threat to the selection, along with Enrolled, who should appreciate this extra half a furlong.

An interesting race in which recent course winner SAN JUANITO gets the vote ahead of Manara, who is 3-3 in handicaps.

On target at Newcastle before recording a commanding victory over 2m1f here last time out, a further 9lb rise in the handicap might not be enough to stop FLASH DU PISTOLET from completing his hat-trick. Fete Champetre was in front when falling two from home at Ayr and he merits respect off 2lb higher. Garde Des Champs heads the remainder.

Irish raider ANDYS FLAME (nap) is well worth supporting on this return from a break as his Cheltenham fifth in October reads well.

Admittedly, there are several others who can have a big say, including handicap-debutant Toralou, whose recent second in a novice stakes at Newcastle has a solid appearance. Stratocracy, Roaring Ralph and Ahamoment are other each-way options.

Preference is for PALLAS LORD, who has been in rude health on the AW of late and won a division of this race in 2022.

Lucinda Russell's charge was winning on good ground at Wetherby back in November and has plenty of scope for further improvement over the larger obstacles. Music Of Tara failed to fire at Cheltenham last month but the Navan winner remains on a potentially lenient mark in this sphere, while the recent Carlisle runner-up Ganapathi is another to consider.

EXCELLENT BELIEVE hit the woodwork over C&D on his racecourse debut three weeks ago and, with that track knowledge sure to stand him in good stead, the son of Make Believe is fancied to go one place better. That could come at the main expense of L'Karama, who has been absent since failing to justify favouritism at Newcastle in October. Carron should not be overlooked either.

L'Karama and EXCELLENT BELIEVE both showed clear promise when favourite on their debuts, with slight preference for the latter.

SHE'S NOTJOEKING found only one too good over course and distance at the end of last year. The daughter of Milan has been set a couple of stiffer assignments subsequently, but looks worth another chance off her current mark back at this lower level. Irish Lullaby also drops in class and has solid claims having finished a respectable fourth at Aintree in November, while Max Of Stars could bounce back in first-time cheekpieces.

A difficult handicap to unravel. IRISH LULLABY ran well on her penultimate start and she could be better for a break.

This is a competitive race for the grade. However, BUNGLE BAY has shown plenty of grit and determination of late and is fancied to complete a three-timer off just 2lb higher than last month's C&D success. Candy Warhol was a close third in that race and also commands respect under a 5lb penalty for his own track-and-trip victory last week. Bold Suitor and Diligent Henry are other strong contenders.

Bold Suitor is respected but BUNGLE BAY's attitude counts for plenty at this level and he's fancied to notch an eighth course win.

DEERSTALKER readily made all in a point-to-point last month and could be difficult to overhaul if he sets about trying to repeat the feat in the same manner and is revved up by switching back to regulation fences. Eagles Rock has won his last two between the flags and is another solid contender, while Slaney Opera's recent form in the pointing sphere also brings him into the reckoning.

The 7yo SLANEY OPERA may again have the measure of old rival Whatudoing and that pair are preferred.

LECHUGA LAD finished a creditable third at Wolverhampton last month considering he failed to settle. James Fanshawe's inmate has plenty of scope for improvement having only his second outing in a handicap, and could be bang there at the finish on his turf debut, with an apprentice's 3lb allowance further helping his cause. Titainium ran well for second here last autumn and returns to action with a shout, while Capla Lazarus should be noted making his handicap debut.

A case can be made for several and ELEMENTAL EYE is just a tentative choice now back on a good mark with conditions to suit.

FOREST SPIRIT was professional in winning her last two starts and can extend the profitable run with the step up from 1m4f to 1m6f not expected to pose too many issues. The lightly-weighted Irish raider Slowdownbarney is potentially the biggest danger to the selection based on his consistent Dundalk form, although Swinging London and Banderas can also have a big say.

Several have possibilities but the vote goes to hat-trick seeking 4yo FOREST SPIRIT (nap) who is open to more progress back up in trip.

THE HATCHET, who hinted at ability when second on his sole start in a point-to-point, caught the eye with a reasonable fourth-placed finish in a similar event at Ayr last month, and appeals strongly given he should be a lot wiser. Similar comments apply to Golden Whirl and L'insurge, whose debut runs weren't without promise, while Port Station won't need to be out of the ordinary to figure on his racecourse bow.

The most interesting horse is THE HATCHET who was runner-up in a point and ran well for a long way at Ayr.

Personal Best scored at Leicester on her debut and is capable of being in the mix along with Chilli Queen, who still doesn't look the finished article yet.

This can go to 1000 Guineas entry TRAD JAZZ who looked a nice prospect when winning in style on her debut over 1m here last August.

This looks less competitive and the son of Nathaniel is fancied to launch a serious challenge off his current mark. Salaria went close over today's distance at Newcastle on her penultimate start and rates a threat if reproducing that effort, while Aurelius Maximus will likely appreciate this extra test of stamina now handicapping and it would be no surprise if he proves competitive.

The winner had already flown, but Tony Carroll's charge ran on well for second and is taken to confirm superiority with The Pug, who showed signs of a resurgence back in third. Cryptos Dream scored off a similar mark over course and distance in November and a recent placed effort at Chelmsford suggests she can make her presence felt.

ARCTICIAN has been far from disgraced on his last two racecourse appearances, but he drops into class 5 company on the same mark from which he was successful over C&D in January, and it would come as no surprise were he to show more. Al Ameen is an infrequent winner but is a player having won comfortably over track and trip last time, while the returning Berry Clever can also go well in search of his hat-trick.

This can go to AL AMEEN (nap) who did it well when winning over C&D last month. He remains feasibly treated on previous form.

There appears to be plenty of pace on show here and it might pay to take a chance on BROSAY. The race wasn't run to suit at Newcastle recently so that effort is best forgiven and from what still looks a workable mark, he could provide some real value. Handicap debutant Noble Victory is an interesting candidate, as is the in-form Carbine Harvester.

Carbine Harvester is progressive but BROSAY, who came away with him at Lingfield and is 5lb better off, can turn things round.

Zoran has disappointed since beating ROBUSTO by only a neck over course and distance in December and the latter can turn the tables. The son of Churchill has subsequently gone close again at Wolverhampton and looks worthy of another chance allowed to compete off the same mark here. Rogue Tornado had last year's winner Cinnodin back in fourth when successful over a shorter trip at Southwell last month and can feature once again.

A repeat win in this race is on the cards for CINNODIN who is 4lb lower than when beating Zoran last April.

However, the four-year-old NOWHERE is less exposed and was having only her third start in a handicap when finding one too good at Wolverhampton. Well clear of the rest on that occasion, Tom Ward's filly is heading in the right direction and can make a bold bid to open her account. Dibble Dabble made an encouraging reappearance at Wolverhampton and could make her presence felt.

Nowhere is a player but the vote goes to DIBBLE DABBLE, who made a pleasing comeback three weeks ago.
