13:45 Pontefract Stakes (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

DANDY DEVIL readily beat a subsequent winner on his debut over 5f at Newcastle last month and, with this longer trip unlikely to pose any problems, he gets the vote to follow up. Federal Envoy also made a winning introduction and he looks an obvious danger, while newcomers Own Accord and Mambha are worth a market check at the very least.

DANDY DEVIL came out on top against the odds-on favourite (won on his next start) at Newcastle 20 days ago and he can maintain his unbeaten record with this longer trip likely to suit. Federal Envoy also made a successful debut at Southwell and looks the main danger, with newcomer Own Accord completing the shortlist.

This isn't a particularly good novice and FEDERAL ENVOY is taken to follow up his Southwell success.

14:00 Ludlow Handicap Chase (Class 4) 20f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

TERRESITA finished a creditable third in a premier handicap at Sandown last month and, back into calmer waters, this looks a good opportunity for Lucy Wadham's seven-year-old to regain the winning sequence. Gastibelza, a six-time winner when trained in France, ought to relish conditions should they be testing and with Current Mood uncertain to take up this engagement following her run at Chepstow on Monday, she could be the sole threat.

TERRESITA can land a second C&D win of the year under Harry Cobden, although Micky Hammond's new recruit Gastibelza does look fairly handicapped judged on the form of her recent French claiming success so Lucy Wadham's charge may not have things all her own way.

Gastibelza signed off in France with a comfortable win but TERRESITA ought to be hard to beat on a track that suits her very well.

(4) Billy No Mates 3/1, Signed off last season on a high, registering a third win over 1¾m at Haydock (soft) in September. Well on top at the finish and a 4 lb rise is hardly draconian but his record when fresh isn't great and a career-best will be needed if he's to see off Throne Hall and Torcello.

Probably flattered to some extent when winning so well at Doncaster; 4lb penalty.

14:15 Pontefract Handicap (Class 4) 12f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

THRONE HALL bolted up in an amateur jockeys' handicap at Doncaster nine days ago and a 4lb penalty probably won't be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Billy No Mates signed off last season with a stylish win at Haydock and he warrants plenty of respect on his return to action, while the dropped-in-class Torcello cannot be ruled out either.

It's hard to look beyond THRONE HALL, who bolted up at Doncaster's Lincoln meeting and he is streets ahead of the handicapper under a 4 lb penalty here. Torcello boasts several pieces of high-quality handicap form and he is clear second choice ahead of Billy No Mates.

The mere fact that connections are persevering with CLAN CHIEFTAIN would suggest he could turn a corner this season.

14:30 Ludlow Novices Hurdle (Class 4) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

EASY PEASY lost her unbeaten record when finishing down the field in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham in November, but the daughter of Walk In The Park put that behind her to make a successful hurdling bow at Exeter 62 days ago. This doesn't look the strongest of contests, so she's taken to carry a penalty to success. Get Sky High might not have been seen for 504 days, but she had some useful form in the book prior to her absence and market support would be interesting. Twyford's Diamond heads the remainder.

GET SKY HIGH offered plenty to work on behind the now smart Nemean Lion on her Hereford hurdling debut back in November 2022 and, with fitness rarely a concern with runners from the Skelton yard, she's taken to come out on top. Easy Peasy won a decidedly ordinary maiden at Exeter but surely has more to offer based on her bumper form, with Twyford's Diamond fancied to fill the places.

Far too good for a fair rival when winning on her hurdling debut in January, EASY PEASY has a very good chance to follow up here.

14:45 Pontefract Handicap (Class 4) 18f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

GOOBINATOR gamely won his latest Flat outing in October and backed that up with a solid placed effort over hurdles two months later. Today's forecast testing conditions will pose no problems and he could give weight and a beating to his rivals. Black Kalanisi has struggled over timber recently but a return to the level could see him bounce back to form, while Robert Johnson also holds claims.

GOOBINATOR defied a lengthy absence when making most at Catterick in October and, having run well over hurdles next time, he is taken to add to his tally back on the level. C&D winner Black Kalanisi could be the biggest threat returned to this track, ahead of the reappearing Robert Johnson.

All five have chances. The suggestion is JUSTUS, who is well handicapped even without factoring in Aiden Brookes taking off 5lb.

15:00 Ludlow Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) 21f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.

Wincanton winner Tedley was far from disgraced in a warm premier handicap at Sandown last time out and he must be of interest at this lower level, but the vote goes to EL SAVIOUR. The six-year-old recorded a comfortable success at Warwick when pitched into a handicap for the first time and a subsequent 7lb rise might not be enough to stop him. Bucksy Des Epeires should not be underestimated either.

The handicapper has taken a bit of a chance dropping BUCKSY DES EPEIRES to 2 lb lower than when a good second at Sandown in December and he'll take a bit of stopping if back to that form. The progressive El Saviour is the obvious danger.

Preference is for EL SAVIOUR, who was one of two to pull a long way clear of the others when winning on last month's handicap debut.

15:15 Pontefract Handicap (Class 2) 5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.

VINTAGE CLARETS, who was due to run in a valuable sprint at Musselburgh prior to it's abandonment on Saturday, is taken to land the spoils. Richard Fahey's charge progressed well last season, finishing third at Doncaster when last seen in October, and this career-high mark could still be within range. It would be unwise to rule out a Paul Midgley sprinter and Elegant Erin, who is lurking on a dangerous mark, must be considered. Wen Moon can chase the pair home.

WEN MOON took his form up a notch when dropped to 5f last autumn and still looks to have some mileage in his mark so is taken to making a winning reappearance at this venue for the second year running. The classy Vintage Clarets is second choice ahead of Spoof.

There should be plenty of pace on and such a scenario will suit WEN MOON, who made a successful return on this card 12 months ago.

15:30 Ludlow Handicap Chase (Class 3) 24f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

JET PLANE bounced back to form with a victory at Sandown last month following a string of disappointing efforts. Dan Skelton's gelding, whose previous success had come over 3m2f at Newton Abbot in October, is likely to relish stepping back up in trip and gets the vote to handle a 2lb rise from the handicapper. Georges Saint finished third at Wincanton when attempting to land a hat-trick and is respected along with Kestrel Valley, who should find this easier than the Mares' Chase at Cheltenham.

KESTREL VALLEY has upped her game this season and goes particularly well at this course. She can return to winning ways. Georges Saint is feared most.

Preference is for late-blooming mare KESTREL VALLEY, who runs this track very well and will find this easier than her last two races.

15:45 Pontefract Handicap (Class 3) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.

Twilight Romance disappointed despite being well fancied in a fiercely competitive two-year-old race at York when last seen 222 days ago but newly-formed father and son partnership John and Sean Quinn will be hopeful he can improve this season. However, likely soft ground would have to be a slight concern and so preference is for JAMES'S DELIGHT. The Invincible Army gelding showed a useful level of form as a juvenile and given that his sire improved with age, he could follow suit. Beyond Borders is also noted.

TWILIGHT ROMANCE and James's Delight both strike as if they'll have more to offer this season, with slight preference for the former, who created an excellent impression when scoring in a good time at York back in June. Bellarchi's final run is easily excused and he could bounce back on this return to action.

The now-gelded JAMES'S DELIGHT had not run a bad race until running below market expectations on his nursery debut.

16:00 Ludlow Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

BALHAMBAR has shown some promise recently over hurdles, including when third at Huntingdon last month, and the application of a tongue-tie for his handicap bow may yield enough improvement to see him get off the mark in this sphere. Passing Kate was dropped 3lb for her recent third at Hereford and is capable of going close, while Royal Deeside and Dundory appeal most of the remainder.

The one with the most attractive profile is BALHAMBAR, who achieved a pretty useful level of form on the Flat and he appears to be going the right way in this sphere judged on his latest effort. That was his first start for new connections and further progress is anticipated now that he goes down the handicap route. Royal Deeside and Passing Kate are feared most in that order of preference.

If judged on his Flat ability, BALHAMBAR (nap) could go very well off his opening hurdle mark. Dundory is second choice.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

The combination of soft ground and a drop in trip worked for BUSTAAM when shedding the maiden tag at Doncaster and he makes plenty of appeal in his bid to back that performance up. Lord Melbourne is open to improvement on his handicap bow with conditions potentially being in his favour, while Bushfire and Damascus Steel are others capable of being in the mix.

BUSTAAM had plenty in hand when scoring at Doncaster last month and is taken to follow up. Destinado and Lord Melbourne are feared most.

Although up 10lb for his decisive win at Doncaster, the well-bred BUSTAAM (nap) appeals as the type who could move through the ranks.

ISKANDAR PECOS produced a fine effort on his hunter chase debut when runner-up at Haydock and the six-year-old didn't need to repeat that level of performance at Leicester just 10 days later. He is open to further improvement which is unlikely to be the case for his main rivals, Before Midnight and Senior Citizen, who were both more than useful performers in handicap company.

ISKANDAR PECOS has looked a good prospect in a couple of starts under Rules and is fancied to take the finale. Senior Citizen and Before Midnight should give him plenty to think about, though.

The 6yo ISKANDAR PECOS is the progressive one and most likely to give his true running.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

WINTERCRACK went close to getting her head back in front when beaten a neck at Leicester on her final outing in 2023 and the drop to a mile on her return to action may provide an ideal opportunity for Pam Sly's filly. Pol Roger boasts form with cut in the ground and he could bounce back after a couple of disappointing efforts when last seen. Others to consider include On The River and Phoenix Fire.

ON THE RIVER made a winning reappearance over this C&D last April, which turned out to be the first leg of a hat-trick, and he will have every chance if resuming in similarly good form this time round. Harswell Duke and Pol Roger have both slipped to dangerous marks and warrant respect, while last year's winner Do I Dream, Star Shield and Wintercrack are others with claims in a typically competitive and open-looking handicap at this venue.

A chance is taken that WINTERCRACK will be sufficiently straight to show her best form. She stays further, which could be an asset.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

The vote goes to KINGSTON JOY, who filled the runner-up spot over an extended 1m1f here 10 days ago. David Simcock's charge is competitively handicapped from an unchanged mark, and, with the return to further a positive, she can go one better. Moon Over The Sea continues to run well and must feature prominently in calculations, while others to note include Virtual Hug and Tables Turned.

VIRTUAL HUG has been in good order since the turn of the year and, still on a fair mark, he is taken to add to his C&D success in February. Next on the list is Moon Over The Sea, who has also been holding his form well in recent months. Kingston Joy and Pittsburg should both be on the premises, too.

Preference is for VIRTUAL HUG who is fully effective over further, but did win a steadily run event over C&D in February.

17:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 9f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

A maiden after nine attempts, BITCOIN PROFIT was a good second over 7f on his first start for the Max Young team last month. The way in which he kept on that day would suggest this extended mile will suit and a first career success might be in the offing. Rust E Boy, who finished behind the selection in third, holds obvious claims from an unchanged mark. Takeityouremine shaped with more promise than her finishing position would suggest last time and she's worth a second look.

RUST E BOY has been placed twice over shorter trips here in recent months and might be able to get off the mark if his stamina holds now stepping back up in distance. Bitcoin Profit made a positive start for new trainer Max Young when second over 7f here last month and is second choice ahead of Trois Blancs.

This can go to BITCOIN PROFIT who comes into this in fair form and had two of these behind when second on stable debut here last month.

18:00 Wolverhampton Maiden (Class 5) 9.5f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

Marhaba Million, a son of Galileo and a relation to a handful of useful types, and 200,000gns purchase Roland Garros, who will relish this initial test of stamina, are two interesting newcomers for their respective yards but stablemate of the latter, KING'S CORONATION, gets the vote. The son of Kingman ran well amidst greenness over the extended mile here on his debut but he is a likely improver and can put that experience to good use. Hampden and Pique' complete the shortlist.

KING'S CORONATION showed lots of promise once he grasped what was required on his recent course debut and can leave that behind and strike at the second time of asking. Hampden was placed over C&D on his final juvenile start and should have more to offer this year so he's taken to fill the forecast spot ahead of Dream Ocean. The selection's debuting stablemate Roland Garros would also need considering if the betting suggests he's fancied.

The vote goes to KING'S CORONATION who gave the impression he would come on plenty for last month's course debut.

18:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 5) 6f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.

SAY YOU'LL NEVER looks to have improved from two to three judged on her third behind subsequent winner Shallow at Chelmsford in February and, making her handicap debut off a fair-looking mark of 62, she rates the one to beat. Musical Diva won readily at this venue in January and she looks the biggest threat, ahead of Horse Whisperer, who is 1lb lower than when placed at Southwell.

SAY YOU'LL NEVER took a step forward when third in a 6f maiden at Chelmsford in February and, with that form proving strong, she's selected to make a successful handicap debut. Horse Whisperer is feared most ahead of Musical Diva.

It may be worth siding with HOT FRONT whose last two appearances in fillies-only races have resulted in a win and a narrow defeat.

BELLA BISBEE built on her promising debut when scoring readily over 6f at Wolverhampton and, with this longer trip unlikely to pose any problems, she can complete the double. Prefer The Sister outran huge odds when fourth on her debut at Southwell last month and any improvement should see her in the mix, similarly Radiant Angel, who also made a pleasing introduction.

BELLA BISBEE went one better than on debut when scoring with a fair bit in hand at this course in November and, with the potential of further progress to come, she can follow up on her return. Prefer The Sister showed some promise on her first start and could be the biggest threat, ahead of Radiant Angel.

19:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 16f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TAMARIS returned to the level in December and has stepped forward with each outing, the latest seeing him get his head in front at Kempton in January, and the seven-year-old remains capable of better, especially now in the care of James Owen. Tarbat Ness was a consistent performer at the back end of last year and the switch of headgear to blinkers might aid his cause. Baileys Warrior, Smokey Malone and Doublethetrouble appear best of the remainder.

TAMARIS resumed winning ways on his final start for Joe Tizzard at Kempton in January and, up just 2 lb and having since joined the shrewd James Owen yard, he is taken to follow up here. Smokey Malone didn't do much wrong when third at Southwell last time and he is feared, along with the consistent Baileys Warrior.

The choice is BAILEYS WARRIOR who twice chased home the prolific The Craftymaster over C&D during the winter.

20:00 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

KRAKEN DIAMOND has been running with promise since joining Brian Toomey and stepping back up in trip, along with the booking of Oisin Murphy, all look to be positives in his attempt to get off the mark. Cryptos Dream is a player based on her recent efforts and her rider's 7lb claim, while Muhalhel's recent consistency entitles him to a place on the shortlist.

KRAKEN DIAMOND should be suited by the step back up in trip and gets the nod in a tricky-looking handicap. Muhalhel and Locked N' Loaded can also make their presence felt.

Topweight CRYPTOS DREAM has done well since joining Jack Jones last summer and Archie Young's claims a useful 7lb tonight.

20:30 Wolverhampton Handicap (Class 6) 10f Race Class Flow

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.

TROJAN TRUTH won readily under tonight's rider over C&D last time and a 3lb rise probably won't be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Calcutta Dream has backed up his Chelmsford success with three solid efforts in defeat and he is likely to be in the firing line once again. Damoiseau and Eaux De Vie are others to keep an eye on.

TROJAN TRUTH was a convincing winner under this pilot here last month and hasn't been harshly treated by the handicapper for that success. He can follow up. Calcutta Dream and Pink Jazz rate the principal dangers.

Having kept on strongly to win readily over C&D ten days ago, after a break, TROJAN TRUTH (nap) is taken to overcome a 3lb rise.
