1st (11) (7.5/1 +25%) Clansman |
7.5/1(+25%) | (11) Clansman 7.5/1, Ended 2022 with a win in the mud at Ayr and the fact he also started last season with a victory shows he's capable of going well fresh. Does have a career-high mark to overcome, though.
2nd (6) (5/1 +17%) Captain Haddock |
5/1(+17%) | (6) Captain Haddock 5/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2021. Ended 2022 with creditable placed efforts but his peak fitness has to be taken on trust after 5 months off.
3rd (9) (7/1 +13%) Mister Camacho |
7/1(+13%) | (9) Mister Camacho 7/1, Still a maiden but he did largely hold his form well in handicaps last term. Headgear he wore at the end of last season is left off on reappearance. One of 2 runners from his stable.
4th (7) (5/1 +9%) Two Brothers |
5/1(+9%) | (7) Two Brothers 5/1, Remains winless but he was placed in handicaps over this trip on his final 4 starts last season, although he was 5¾ lengths behind Torcello at Newmarket on his final outing. Each-way claims again if ready to roll after his break.
5th (5) (7.5/1 +53%) Carrigillihy |
7.5/1(+53%) | (5) Carrigillihy 7.5/1, In good form on the Flat last autumn, including a win over this trip at Pontefract. No better than modest form in 2 novice hurdles at the start of 2023 but may fare better back on the level.
6th (3) (5.5/1 -120%) Star Angel |
5.5/1(-120%) | (3) Star Angel 5.5/1, Showed promise in Ireland last spring. Made quite hard work of landing short odds in a Southwell novice over this trip on her first outing for new trainer George Boughey but it would still be no surprise to see her kick on now handicapping.
7th (4) (40/1 -43%) Cogital |
40/1(-43%) | (4) Cogital 40/1, In good form on the Flat at the start of last summer (won twice) but the handicapper was winning the argument by the end of the summer and he's been off since a respectable hurdle run in September.
8th (1) (4.5/1 +18%) Torcello |
4.5/1(+18%) | (1) Torcello 4.5/1, Responded well to blinkers at the end of last season, finishing second here before winning at Newmarket (1½m, good to soft). 4 lb rise is fair and he has gone well fresh before. Big player under Fern O'Brien.
9th (10) (28/1 -40%) Longclaw |
28/1(-40%) | (10) Longclaw 28/1, Didn't take long to find his form for this stable last autumn, placing 3 times on AW. Just as effective on the Flat. Another who has to enter calculations.
10th (8) (33/1 -32%) Maffeo Barberini |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Maffeo Barberini 33/1, Fair performer who opened his account in 1m Leicester claimer last autumn. Well held in big-handicap at Newmarket (9f) on final start. Steps up significantly in trip on his return to action.
11th (12) (18/1 +45%) Mujid |
18/1(+45%) | (12) Mujid 18/1, Creditable in-frame efforts on first 2 outings this year but not at best at Newcastle latest and he's 4 lb out of the handicap back on turf.
12th (2) (40/1 -150%) Quian |
40/1(-150%) | (2) Quian 40/1, Smart in his prime and still capable of useful form in France last year. Made a sound enough start for new connections in 2m Kempton handicap in February and presumably dfidn't take to hurdling at Hexham since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The value may lie with CLANSMAN, who was an authoritative winner at Ayr when last seen and will enjoy this ground. Liam Bailey's charge won first time out last season, which bodes well on this occasion, and he may have too much for recent Southwell winner Star Angel and the capable Torcello, who finished last season with a determined success at Newmarket. Others to note include Captain Haddock, Mister Camacho and Two Brothers.
TORCELLO still looks fairly treated after a 4 lb rise for his Newmarket win last autumn and could take a bit of stopping if resuming in anything like the same form. Start Angel made a bit of a meal of it on AW last time but still rates an obvious danger now switching to handicap company for George Boughey. Two Brothers and Longclaw complete the shortlist.
The very lightly raced 4yo STAR ANGEL brings potential to this handicap debut and is taken to make it 2-2 since joining George Boughey.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Law Ella travelled well when finding only one too good at Punchestown in February, but she has proved expensive to follow in the past and it may pay to take Gavin Cromwell's mare on once more. The stoutly-bred SMOOTH PLAYER ran his best race over timber to date when runner-up over 2m at Navan and he's fancied to shed his maiden tag over obstacles now faced with a stiffer test. Ottizzini has posted some creditable efforts in defeat of late and is another to note in these calmer waters.
LAW ELLA impressed with the way she travelled at Punchestown last time and can make it fifth time lucky over hurdles, perhaps at the main expense of Ottizzini who acquitted herself well in listed company last time. The shortlist is completed by Gordon Elliott's Navan runner-up Smooth Player.
It didn't look like LAW ELLA was lacking in stamina when second over a similar trip at Punchestown last time and she can go one better

1st (2) (2/1 +27%) El Rio |
2/1(+27%) | (2) El Rio 2/1, Winning pointer who shaped well on his yard/hurdling debut in novice at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) 36 days ago, in front and looking the winner when falling last. Can gain compensation.
2nd (7) (1.38/1 +8%) Mylesfromwicklow |
1.38/1(+8%) | (7) Mylesfromwicklow 1.38/1, Won his sole outing in points in October and has shown fairly useful form when runner-up over hurdles at Ffos Las and Uttoxeter this winter. Holds very good claims.
3rd (8) (4.5/1 +44%) Spago |
4.5/1(+44%) | (8) Spago 4.5/1, Fair in bumpers and made an encouraging start in this sphere when third of 14 in 2m3f Taunton novice 28 days ago. Open to improvement.
4th (4) (10/1 +29%) James Jet |
10/1(+29%) | (4) James Jet 10/1, £45,000 5-y-o, Yeats gelding. Closely related to a winner, and half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Best Behavior, stays 25f. Won sole start in Irish points in November so he's an interesting newcomer. Worth a market check.
5th (3) (150/1 -50%) Fromposttopillar |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Fromposttopillar 150/1, Has offered little in a hood and tongue strap combination in two runs over hurdles thus far. Hard to warm to.
6th (5) (8.5/1 +58%) Knowwhentoholdem |
8.5/1(+58%) | (5) Knowwhentoholdem 8.5/1, Fairly useful 17f bumper winner who shaped with some encouragement after 16 months off when third of 4 in novice at Exeter (16.7f, good to soft) on his hurdles bow 23 days ago. Can build on it now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Point-to-point winner El Rio had the race at his mercy when he fell at the last on his Rules debut at Chepstow, but he is likely to be wiser for the experience. Knowwhentoholdem, who won a bumper on his racecourse bow, showed up well enough on his first start over timber and is another likely improver. However, MYLESFROMWICKLOW has shown ability in both previous starts in this sphere and edges preference due to his proven stamina over this sort of trip.
Winning-pointer EL RIO looked all set to make a successful start over hurdles until coming down at the last at Chepstow and is fancied to gain quick compensation at the chief expense of Mylesfromwicklow, who has shown some fairly useful form but could have to settle for runner-up spot once more. The Warren Greatrex-trained duo Militaire and James Jet can fight it out for minor honours.
El Rio is respected but this might go to MYLESFROMWICKLOW, who went down fighting at Uttoxeter a fortnight ago.

4/1(+33%) | (12) Warm Heart 4/1, Galileo filly who made a promising start when fourth of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (7f, 16/1) on her debut, not knocked about. Open to plenty of improvement, especially over this longer trip. Player.

8.5/1(-6%) | (10) Tender Kiss 8.5/1, Galileo filly. Dam, 5f/6f winner (won Nunthorpe Stakes and Prix de l'Abbaye), is a half-sister to smart winner up to 6f Judicial. Very much catches the eye on paper. Holds Irish Oaks entry. Most interesting newcomer.

200/1(+0%) | (5) Kirikiriroa 200/1, Twice-raced filly. Last of 14 in maiden (125/1) at Dundalk (7f). Off 149 days. Stable in good form but she has lots to find.

100/1(-52%) | (7) One For Mum 100/1, Twice-raced filly. 9/2, eleventh of 12 in maiden at Naas (5.9f, good to soft), finding little. Off 6 months. Significantly up in trip with work to do. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BOLD AS LOVE made an encouraging debut when second to a promising filly of Dermot Weld's who had previous experience here in October and she looks the one to beat on her return. Tender Kiss possesses a nice blend of speed and stamina in her pedigree and warrants close attention in the market on her introduction, although Ryan Moore is on Dundalk fourth Warm Heart. Toistiun finished a never-nearer third at the Curragh last week and should appreciate this stiffer test, with Curvature making most appeal of the remaining opposition.
Lots of potential on show here, not least from Donnacha O'Brien's Irish 1000 Guineas entrant BOLD AS LOVE who shaped very well when a debut second here last autumn and can go one better now. Aidan O'Brien saddles two interesting contenders in the shape of Dundalk-fourth Warm Heart and debutante Tender Kiss and they can follow home the selection in that order.
BOLD AS LOVE was outpaced by the smart Tarawa on debut here over 7f last term but will be more at home over this trip.

1st (3) (7.5/1 +17%) There's The Door |
7.5/1(+17%) | (3) There's The Door 7.5/1, Haydock novice winner (7f) in July and signed off 2-y-o campaign with an excellent runner-up effort on first crack at 9f on the Rowley in October. Extra 1f ought to be within range on her return to action.
2nd (6) (9/1 -80%) Demilion |
9/1(-80%) | (6) Demilion 9/1, Heavily backed when making a successful handicap debut over 9.5f at Wolverhampton in January. That form isn't anything to get excited by but he's in top hands and is open to progress switched to turf.
3rd (4) (7/1 -17%) Cloudbreaker |
7/1(-17%) | (4) Cloudbreaker 7/1, Stepped up on debut run when landing 7-runner novice at Newmarket in July. Reportedly lame after and given rest of 2022 off shaped quite well on February's return over 9.5f and the second and third that days have improved since. Retains scope now handicapping.
4th (9) (8/1 -33%) Nobody Told Me |
8/1(-33%) | (9) Nobody Told Me 8/1, Glimmers of promise in a quartet of juvenile outings at up to 1m but opening mark looks very high unless he improves markedly for a gelding operation and this new trip.
5th (5) (3.5/1 +13%) Forceful Speed |
3.5/1(+13%) | (5) Forceful Speed 3.5/1, Made a winning start in nurseries at Wolverhampton and put his experience and stamina to good use to double his tally at Pontefract (10f) in October. Just a fair fifth at Newmarket later that month and gelded ahead of this reappearance.
6th (2) (4.5/1 -29%) Mighty River |
4.5/1(-29%) | (2) Mighty River 4.5/1, Novice winner on third start at Wolverhampton in December and went the right way in handicaps during the winter, second of 6 on his last 2 starts. Looks well handicapped if he's as effective on turf,
7th (7) (11/1 +31%) Nights Over Egypt |
11/1(+31%) | (7) Nights Over Egypt 11/1, Oasis Dream colt displayed definite signs of promise in a trio of novice events last summer and shaped well when third switched to a handicap at Pontefract in October, faring best of those ridden prominently. Isn't bred for middle distances but is in good hands.
8th (8) (3.5/1 +53%) Kadovar |
3.5/1(+53%) | (8) Kadovar 3.5/1, Low-key debut but fitted with a tongue tie and much more like it when second at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy) in October. Better than result at Kempton the following month and now up in trip for return for top stable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
THERE'S THE DOOR was somewhat unlucky not to add another victory to her name last season, but she never had an opportunity over this distance until now. A sister to American Oaks winner Rhea Moon, David Evans' filly should relish this trip, as should the unexposed Nights Over Egypt, who could be interesting as a three-year-old. Demilion and Forceful Speed both have the form to get involved, while the consistent Mighty River cannot be ruled out either.
MIGHTY RIVER's AW form has a progressive look to it, and assuming he's as effective on turf, he looks the pick at the weights. Demilion should also have plenty more to offer, while Cloudbreaker's return on the AW looks pretty good form and she retains potential.
Preference is for CLOUDBREAKER whose fourth in an above-average Wolverhampton novice in February should have set her up nicely for this.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Ballyquin Bay makes both his seasonal and handicap debut off what could prove a workable mark and Gordon Elliott's charge isn't taken lightly. WINDING RIVER, however, posted two improved bids over fences since his last appearance over the smaller obstacles and the six-year-old could take some beating if given a similarly positive ride in this sphere. Ballyglass Beauty weakened into third in the latter stages over 2m7f at Thurles last month, his first appearance for 89 days, and he also merits respect now eased slightly in distance.
WINDING RIVER was in good form over fences when last seen and, if tuned up, he looks fairly treated back over hurdles. Ballyquin Bay is lightly raced and could pose a threat, while Aliunde isn't without hope upped markedly in trip.
Open enough but it could be the turn of the consistent BALLYGLASS BEAUTY, with Fruit Blossom and Winding River likely dangers

2/1(+33%) | (4) Eaton Collina 2/1, Hereford hurdles winner (at 19.7f) last season who having slipped to the same mark, opened his account over the larger obstacles at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) just over 5 weeks ago, proving more resolute than the runner-up. No reason to suggest he won't be bang there again.
2nd (2) (5/1 +0%) Upton Road |
5/1(+0%) | (2) Upton Road 5/1, Irish point winner who remains a maiden under Rules but he's lightly-raced and improved at Exeter and Hereford in January, finding just one too good on each occasion. Failed to get home over 3m at Sandown since so a better showing anticipated here.
3rd (8) (18/1 +45%) Valirann Gold |
18/1(+45%) | (8) Valirann Gold 18/1, Much improved for the switch to front-running tactics when scoring over 2m at Chepstow in January but has finished a well-beaten third on both starts since. Easy enough to look elsewhere.
|F| (7) (3.33/1 +58%) William Cody |
3.33/1(+58%) | (7) William Cody 3.33/1, Already a much better chaser than hurdler, gaining his second win over 20f at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. Unable to justify favouritism on both subsequent starts (traded at 1.03 in-running when beaten 4 lengths by Northern Poet last time) but may well be in the mix.
|F| (1) (5.5/1 -120%) Gamaret |
5.5/1(-120%) | (1) Gamaret 5.5/1, Has won a bumper, a hurdle race and a chase in just 5 career outings, making a successful chase/handicap bow at Newbury after 11 months off on New Year's Eve. Found only a progressive rival too good at Sandown (15.4f) last month so is one to consider upped in trip.
|U| (5) (5/1 +0%) Allo Allo |
5/1(+0%) | (5) Allo Allo 5/1, Won maiden/handicap hurdles at up to 23f at Fakenham this term and shaped well on chasing debut having been in front from halfway in a well-run affair when runner-up at Carlisle (20f, good to soft) just under 6 weeks ago. Sure to progress with that under his belt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Allo Allo is effective on the front end and is likely to make this a good test if he runs his usual race. That scenario will ideally suit UPTON ROAD, who went close when second over a similar trip in a higher class off this mark two starts ago. He should be doing his best work at the finish now back down in distance and the booking of 3lb claimer Liam Harrison further enhances his appeal. Gamaret is also taken seriously but he has a question to answer over his stamina, especially under top weight.
EATON COLLINA showed a tenacious attitude to get off the mark over fences at Chepstow recently and a 5 lb rise may not be enough to prevent Kerry Lee's 8-y-o from doubling his tally. The main danger could be Allo Allo, who is a horse heading in the right direction and shaped well when runner-up on chasing debut at Carlisle just under 6 weeks ago. Upton Road looks best of the remainder.
Preference is for EATON COLLINA, who won at Chepstow in February and may well be seen to even better effect on today's slower ground.

1st (5) (0.62/1 +15%) Hans Andersen |
0.62/1(+15%) | (5) Hans Andersen 0.62/1, Very useful Frankel colt who landed Curragh maiden before second in Futurity Stakes there. Posted another solid effort when fifth in National Stakes at the same track on his final start and sets a high standard.
2nd (1) (2.25/1 +25%) Bold Discovery |

3rd (2) (5/1 +9%) Carracci |

5th (4) (50/1 +50%) Eyeeye |
50/1(+50%) | (4) Eyeeye 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Hooded for 1st time, below-form thirteenth of 20 in maiden at Naas (8f, heavy). Off 147 days with lots of work to do. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HANS ANDERSEN, who was a game second in last year's Futurity Stakes, sets the standard at present and he is taken to make a successful return. A son of Frankel out of an Arcano mare, the mount of Ryan Moore is the ready pick of Aidan O'Brien's two intended runners and will provide a good yardstick towards the early pecking order for the Classics at Ballydoyle. Having finished third in the Killavullan Stakes last autumn, Bold Discovery has C&D experience and is a clear second choice in this company. O'Brien's Carracci is suggested as the best of the rest.
HANS ANDERSEN kept some very good company last autumn after landing a maiden here and is fancied to resume winning ways at the chief expense of Bold Discovery, who should build on his very good third in the Killavullan Stakes here last backend. Dundalk maiden winner Carracci, a stablemate of the selection, is less exposed but open to plenty of improvement and worth considering too.
Despite an indifferent display in the National Stakes HANS ANDERSEN is tipped against Bold Discovery in what looks like a match

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
A major disappointment when well beaten as favourite for the Horris Hill last October, STRIKING STAR must hold every chance on the drop in grade. The son of Dubawi had impressed at Sandown on debut and, given his stable's record around here, he should have too much for Overrule, who also carries a penalty for a taking success at Redcar last November. Palamon is open to improvement as a three-year-old, while the same can also be said of Southwell winner Mr Squires.
STRIKING STAR disappointed when favourite for the Horris Hill at Newbury but is well worth another chance back down in class given the manner of his debut win at Sandown. Overrule looked potentially useful when making all at Redcar in November so must be respected, while Theoryofeverything is a newcomer to note.
Overrule is second choice but it's easy to be drawn to the Gosden 325,000-guinea newcomer THEORYOFEVERYTHING.

The booking of Rachel Blackmore for TIPP FOR MAC catches the eye and the six-year-old must hold every chance if building upon a career-best effort when placed at Clonmel. A mark of 102 on his handicap debut seems feasible and the 4lb he receives from Steppenwolf could prove crucial, with that gelding looking his main danger following a strong second at Fairyhouse in December. His stablemate Carlton Gardens is another to consider, along with C&D winners Trishknowsbest and I Don't Get It.
TIPP FOR MAC was a good third in a novice at Clonmel last time and looks open to improvement, so he's preferred to Steppenwolf, who arrives on the back of an excellent run at Fairyhouse. Warm In Gorey is also considered.
Handicap debutant TIPP FOR MAC is taken to get off the mark, although he could face stiff opposition from Steppenwolf

1st (1) (50/1 -100%) Blueking D'oroux |
50/1(-100%) | (1) Blueking D'oroux 50/1, Showed fairly useful over hurdles in France. Folded tamely in 2 outings for Paul Nicholls at the end of 2022 but it's possible he'll prove a different proposition now handicapping after wind surgery. Interesting to see how he goes in the betting.
2nd (6) (7.5/1 -67%) Afadil |
7.5/1(-67%) | (6) Afadil 7.5/1, French Flat winner who also won first 2 hurdles (latter a listed race). Shaped better than the bare result when eighth of 21 in Fred Winter at Cheltenham, keeping on well from too far back. On the shortlist.
3rd (15) (14/1 +22%) Havaila |
14/1(+22%) | (15) Havaila 14/1, Fairly useful form on Flat. Runner-up twice from 5 starts over hurdles, including in a handicap at Sandown last month. Raised 3 lb for that, though, and this looks a much stronger race.
4th (7) (6.5/1 +13%) Mr Freedom |
6.5/1(+13%) | (7) Mr Freedom 6.5/1, Is enjoying an excellent season, winning 4 times over hurdles (also successful on AW Flat in January). Had a few of these rivals behind when a very good fifth of 21 in Fred Winter at Cheltenham last month, doing well considering he was bumped repeatedly after 2 out (rider briefly lost iron).
5th (10) (8/1 +11%) Grappa Nonino |
8/1(+11%) | (10) Grappa Nonino 8/1, Fair on Flat and left first 2 hurdle runs behind when landing a big-field maiden at Navan 4 weeks ago and the runner-up has won since. Likely more to come for a stable whose British runners always command respect.
6th (2) (7/1 -110%) Bad |
7/1(-110%) | (2) Bad 7/1, Winner in France. Attracted strong market support in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival on recent British debut and he shaped a lot better than thirteenth of 21 might suggest, travelling powerfully but doing too much too soon. Remains open to improvement.
7th (3) (10/1 +29%) Punta Del Este |
10/1(+29%) | (3) Punta Del Este 10/1, French winner. Promising third in Victor Ludorum at Haydock on British debut. Shaped quite well until getting involved in some scrimmaging after the second last in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham since. Remains capable of better.
8th (8) (5/1 +23%) Arclight |
5/1(+23%) | (8) Arclight 5/1, Fairly useful on the Flat for Sir Mark Prescott. Perfect start over hurdles for new connections with wins in juveniles at Doncaster and Kempton around turn of the year. Creditable second upped to listed level at first-named venue 65 days ago and could be more to come in handicaps.
9th (12) (10/1 +17%) Fourofakind |
10/1(+17%) | (12) Fourofakind 10/1, Fairly useful form on the Flat in Ireland and has made a sound start to his hurdle career for new stable, placed twice before landing the odds at Haydock 11 days ago. Potential improver in handicaps for his emerging yard.
10th (13) (10/1 +0%) Bluegrass |
10/1(+0%) | (13) Bluegrass 10/1, Useful on the Flat for Aidan O'Brien (placed in the 2022 Dante). Has shown promise switched to hurdles in recent months and rates a very interesting recruit to handicaps for last year's winning stable.
11th (5) (10/1 +38%) Fils De Roi |
10/1(+38%) | (5) Fils De Roi 10/1, Fairly useful form over hurdles, winning Auteuil claimer on final start in France and easily following up in Huntingdon juvenile on October's stable debut. Respectable mid-field finish in the Fred Winter last month but it underlines he needs more from his mark.
12th (9) (8.5/1 +47%) Despereaux |
8.5/1(+47%) | (9) Despereaux 8.5/1, Has won a Huntingdon maiden and Taunton novice this term but his opening handicap mark looks tough enough.
13th (14) (66/1 -32%) Penna Rossa |
66/1(-32%) | (14) Penna Rossa 66/1, Off the mark in Sandown juvenile in December but finished 12 lengths bihind the reopposing Polyphonic on his Fontwell handicap debut 15 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
A few of these crossed swords in the Boodles at the Festival and are likely to find this is a more winnable target at this stage of their development. MR FREEDOM (fifth) was best of the bunch (and the British) at Cheltenham and given the amount of misfortune he suffered on the day with the saddle slipping and him being struck into, his effort was highly commendable. Afadil (eighth) and Fils De Roi (ninth) renew rivalries and are shortlisted in their attempts to get back on track, while the well-supported Bad weakened after racing too free. Fourofakind is on the up and is also considered.
A cracking juvenile handicap. An opening mark of 110 could easily underestimate BLUEGRASS based on Flat ability so he's taken to provide Stuart Edmunds with a second successive win in this race, but there are stacks of dangers. Bad was a lot better than his finishing position suggests in the Fred Winter and is second choice. Afadil, Grappa Nonino and Mr Freedom are others with plenty to recommend them.
Lots are of interest but MR FREEDOM, Grappa Nonino and Afadil may be the best options.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
NEVER ENDING STORY appeals as just the type to improve at three and the Group 1-placed filly can notch up a 12th win in the event for Aidan O'Brien. One of her main challengers Zarinsk (fourth) was behind her when she landed the Silver Flash over C&D last summer, although Ger Lyons' filly improved to win the Listed Ingabelle Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend. Matilda Picotte was progressive and consistent as a juvenile, and may have more to come over 7f, while this trip could also be a plus for bloodless Naas scorer Dame Kiri. Ocean Quest cannot be ruled out either.
Plenty of potential on show here with TARAWA, who has just a maiden win to her name taken to make a leap forward on reappearance given her pedigree and connections. Aidan O'Brien-trained pair Never Ending Story and Dame Kiri are just a couple of potential threats.
This looks open but NEVER ENDING STORY showed enough in two Group 1 appearances to suggest she can add to a C&D Group 3 success

11/1(-57%) | (11) Faro De San Juan 11/1, Useful ex-French 6f winner for Francis-Henri Graffard. Changed hands for €40,000 and no forlorn hope on his return/yard debut. Goes well on soft going.
4th (7) (7/1 +36%) Gisburn |
7/1(+36%) | (7) Gisburn 7/1, Winless since 2021 but he goes well in the mud and caught the eye on occasions last term. Interesting contender now his mark has eased.
5th (13) (7.5/1 -7%) Bernardo O'Reilly |
7.5/1(-7%) | (13) Bernardo O'Reilly 7.5/1, Took this event on his seasonal return 12 months ago and he largely ran well after, third in Ayr Silver Cup in the autumn. Back to his last winning mark now so he merits serious consideration in his follow-up bid with fine 5 lb claimer on board.
6th (12) (14/1 -40%) Swayze |
14/1(-40%) | (12) Swayze 14/1, Gelded and improved to land 14-runner handicap at Newcastle (6f) on his return last month. Can give another good account back on turf despite taking a 3 lb rise.
7th (5) (14/1 -40%) Dream Composer |
14/1(-40%) | (5) Dream Composer 14/1, Successful 3 times on turf last season, latterly at Ascot (5f) in October, and he resumed with a solid third in 6f Wolverhampton handicap last month. Considered off an unchanged mark.
8th (10) (7/1 +0%) Chairmanoftheboard |
7/1(+0%) | (10) Chairmanoftheboard 7/1, Useful 6f winner at his best but he didn't prove the easiest to catch right last term and ran poorly at Ffos Las on his final start. Others appeal more.
9th (20) (25/1 -14%) Strong Power |
25/1(-14%) | (20) Strong Power 25/1, Enjoyed an excellent 2022 when garnering four wins but he's yet to hit top form this term, tongue tied when fair fifth of 10 in 6f handicap at Wolverhampton 22 days ago. Others are more persuasive.
10th (15) (50/1 -150%) True Mason |
50/1(-150%) | (15) True Mason 50/1, Three-time winner last term, including over C&D, but he was off the track after beating only one in 20-runner handicap at the Curragh 6 months ago. Needs to hit the ground running.
11th (6) (16/1 +27%) Tinto |
16/1(+27%) | (6) Tinto 16/1, Dual 6f scorer last summer who kept his form well after for his current yard, fourth in the mud at Haydock (6f) in October. Possibilities on his reappearance.
12th (2) (18/1 -80%) Hyperfocus |
18/1(-80%) | (2) Hyperfocus 18/1, Haydock 6f winner last July and he signed off for 2022 with good second in big-field York handicap in the autumn. One to consider given he has gone well fresh in the past.
13th (19) (10/1 +38%) Another Investment |
10/1(+38%) | (19) Another Investment 10/1, It's now thirteen runs since his last win in 2021 but he posted a creditable ¾-length fourth of 14 to Swayze in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 19 days ago. Not totally discounted.
14th (1) (18/1 +10%) Magical Spirit |
18/1(+10%) | (1) Magical Spirit 18/1, C&D winner in 2021 but winless and below par in a light campaign last season. No surprise if he bounced back to form here though off a reduced mark.
15th (17) (40/1 -300%) True Jem |
40/1(-300%) | (17) True Jem 40/1, Three-time 6f winner last year, including when scoring on her seasonal return over 6f at Southwell. Off 7 months but she can't be dismissed.
16th (8) (22/1 +33%) Able Kane |
22/1(+33%) | (8) Able Kane 22/1, C&D winner but he ended last season under something of a cloud, beating only one at Ascot (7f) in September. Needs to get back on track after 6 months off.
17th (16) (80/1 -142%) Mark's Choice |
80/1(-142%) | (16) Mark's Choice 80/1, His last six successes have come at Ripon and he also ended last term rather out of sorts. Others are more persuasive.
18th (3) (33/1 -32%) Intrinsic Bond |
33/1(-32%) | (3) Intrinsic Bond 33/1, Dual winner last season, including in Great St Wilfrid at Ripon (6f) in August. This C&D scorer has won in the mud too so he is one for the shortlist on his reappearance.
19th (21) (50/1 -127%) Prince Of Bel Lir |
50/1(-127%) | (21) Prince Of Bel Lir 50/1, C&D winner but he has gone backwards since posting a solid reapperance fifth at Southwell in January. Has work to do despite a sliding mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Hyperfocus was last seen posting a cracking second in a class 2 contest at York in October and the nine-year-old merits consideration on this ease in class. Tim Easterby's inmate does, however, have a 2lb rise to overcome and a race-fit SWAYZE makes slightly more appeal. The son of Showcasing showed the benefit of a gelding operation when winning on the all-weather at Newcastle last month and, with a soft-ground success at Haydock to his name, he ticks a lot of boxes. Dream Composer and Blind Beggar also warrant respect in a wide-open event.
Lots with chances but it could pay to side with BERNARDO O'REILLY who goes very well fresh and has slipped back to the same mark as when winning this 12 months ago. Fine 5 lb claimer Billy Loughnane rides for the first time too. Gisburn goes well in the mud and figures on an attractive mark so could emerge as the chief threat, although Blind Beggar has thrived since joining Mick Appleby and must enter calculations. Abolish is another weighted to have a say and completes the shortlist.
Blind Beggar is respected but the lowest draw is not ideal and CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD gets the vote under William Buick.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The value may lie with CIRCUS ACT, who has not been outside the first three in her last five starts and was narrowly denied by a subsequent winner at Doncaster last month. The step up in trip may only aid her cause and the daughter of Buratino is preferred to stablemates Queenie Newall and Soldaro, both of whom arrive with decent enough claims. Return To Base has yet to back up the form of her maiden hurdle win at Punchestown last May but she is not one to dismiss, while Bella Bliss is also considered.
CIRCUS ACT has found some improvement of late and gets a narrow vote in this competitive handicap. Gavin Cromwell saddles a couple of interesting contenders in Soldaro and the returning Queenie Newall, while Gordon Elliott's Jenny Flex strikes as a likely improver in handicaps.
Gavin Cromwell holds a strong hand here, with QUEENIE NEWALL preferred to Soldaro

1st (5) (9/1 +50%) Black Gerry |
9/1(+50%) | (5) Black Gerry 9/1, Successful in handicaps 6 months apart at Fontwell and Exeter at up to 19f this term, but dismal efforts next 2 starts and plenty to prove now back down in trip.
2nd (4) (1.75/1 -27%) Frere D'armes |
1.75/1(-27%) | (4) Frere D'armes 1.75/1, Surpassed any of his hurdle exploits (won twice last term) when making a successful start to his chase career in a 2¼m Kempton handicap in November and further improvement when defying 8 lb rise at Newbury later that month. Up another 8 lb but sure to progress further and win more races.
3rd (7) (80/1 -142%) Hatcher |
80/1(-142%) | (7) Hatcher 80/1, On a potentially lenient mark but has failed to complete on all 3 starts this season, well held when falling 3 out at Ludlow last time. Others appeal more.
4th (9) (22/1 +56%) Royale Margaux |
22/1(+56%) | (9) Royale Margaux 22/1, Multiple winner in France around 2m for David Cottin but well held both starts for new yard so far.
5th (1) (8.5/1 -31%) Dolos |
8.5/1(-31%) | (1) Dolos 8.5/1, In reasonable form this term but reportedly bled at Sandown 8 weeks ago. Back on last winning mark at least.
6th (8) (3.2/1 +20%) Corrigeen Rock |
3.2/1(+20%) | (8) Corrigeen Rock 3.2/1, Fairly useful novice hurdler last season and winner of first 2 completed starts over fences this term. Good second at Sandown next 2 starts and should go well again.
7th (3) (11/1 -83%) Prince Escalus |
11/1(-83%) | (3) Prince Escalus 11/1, Started 2022 with a pair of 2m wins at Hereford and built on his encouraging return at the second attempt when resuming winning ways at Wetherby (15.2f, good) 46 days ago, seeing his race out much better returned to front-running tactics. Will find this more competitive.
|PU| (6) (7.5/1 +12%) Fast Buck |
7.5/1(+12%) | (6) Fast Buck 7.5/1, Below par last season for Dan Skelton but took advantage of reduced mark when recording a first win over fences at Lingfield in December. Similar form when runner-up next 2 starts and should be in the mix again.
|PU| (2) (8.5/1 +15%) Xcitations |
8.5/1(+15%) | (2) Xcitations 8.5/1, Upped his game further this term with victories at Doncaster and at Sandown around the turn of the year but in the handicapper's grip now judged on subsequent efforts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
FRERE D'ARMES kept his unbeaten record over fences intact when displaying a polished round of jumping to beat subsequent Betfair Hurdle hero Aucunrisque at Newbury in November and he looks more than capable of shrugging off an 8lb rise in the handicap. Prince Escalus returned to winning ways at Wetherby and, if gaining an uncontested lead, may prove the biggest threat. Xcitations, who finished behind in second on that occasion, makes most appeal of the remainder.
FRERE D'ARMES looked a natural when winning both his starts over fences in November and is probably still ahead of his mark given his potential. This should be run at a good pace with in-form front-runners Corrigeen Rock, Fast Buck and Prince Escalus heading up the opposition.
The Dan Skelton-trained FRERE D'ARMES (nap) showed strong form when winning his first two chase starts and can score again.

0.8/1(+0%) | (2) Alexandroupolis 0.8/1, Camelot colt who impressed when making a winning start in 11-runner maiden (17/2) at Galway (8.6f, soft) 6 months ago. Has plnty more to offer now stepping up in trip. Player for yard with excellent record in this event.

5th (3) (2.75/1 +0%) Denmark |
2.75/1(+0%) | (3) Denmark 2.75/1, Naas 1m debut scorer before taking his form up a notch when second of 16 in conditions event at Longchamp (8f, soft) in October. Should have more to offer as his stamina is drawn out more. Firmly in the picture.
6th (4) (16/1 +27%) Mohawk Chief |
16/1(+27%) | (4) Mohawk Chief 16/1, 17/2, built on his debut promise when landing 18-runner maiden here (7f, soft) in October. Can do better still now significantly up in trip. One to consider. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Aidan O'Brien fields a quality trio in his bid for a remarkable 12th winner of this race, with ALEXANDROUPOLIS, a leading ante-post fancy for the English Derby, a likely candidate to enhance the statistics. The once-raced son of Camelot comfortably landed a Galway maiden, beating a stablemate who was subsequently second in the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud. The form is rock-solid and he is first to note ahead of classy Ballydoyle companions Mohawk Chief and Denmark. A strong threat is also posed by Alder, who aims to secure back-to-back successes in this contest for Donnacha O'Brien.
Aidan O'Brien has farmed this Group 3 in recent years and his highly promising Camelot colt ALEXANDROUPOLIS looks the way to go on the back of an impressive debut success at Galway in the autumn. Stablemate Denmark has more experience and could prove the chief threat, although both Alder and White Birch have better days ahead of them and can have a say too in a fascinating contest.
Ryan Moore's mount ALEXANDROUPOLIS looked smart when winning a Galway maiden on soft ground and can boost his Derby claims

2.75/1(+21%) | (5) First Officer 2.75/1, Latest win at Nottingham (10.2f, heavy) in October. Has held form well since and, while he has appeared to be summed up by his mark, his effectiveness in the conditions rates as a plus.

8/1(+0%) | (2) Baryshnikov 8/1, Went off the boil towards the end of last year but worth noting that he scored in good style on his reappearance last season and he's down in grade.
10th (9) (22/1 -10%) Conservative |
22/1(-10%) | (9) Conservative 22/1, Still wuite lightly raced and wasn't disgraced when fourth at Wolverhampton 55 days ago. Little evidence to suggest he's ahead of this mark, though. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BAD COMPANY was largely consistent last season and has every chance if picking up from his latest performance when runner-up at Newmarket in October. Flyin' Solo has clearly had his problems but he is likely to be involved if reproducing his second-placed effort at Ascot last May. Tiger Beetle arrives fit from the all-weather and will be waiting to capitalise if the aforementioned duo fail to fire.
FLYIN' SOLO is still relatively unexposed and it's worth taking a chance that he's ready to roll back from a long absence. Sir Rumi and Bad Company are both consistent types who should be on the premises making their seasonal debut.
The Richard Hannon-trained SIR RUMI (nap) ran well here on both his first and final runs last season and can make a winning return.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The step up to this extreme trip could work the oracle for MALINA GIRL, a daughter of Malinas, who has had progeny that have excelled over three miles-plus. Gavin Cromwell's mare was really consistent until struggling in a hot Leopardstown handicap, and decent ground looks another plus. Fakiera has been set some stiff assignments, while My Design has scope for improvement on just her third run over fences. Punitive beat Fakiera in the Porterstown in December so is a guaranteed stayer, with The Dabbler, The Jam Man and Wa Wa others to note.
MY DESIGN has taken really well to chasing and looks potentially well-in switched to a handicap. Mercury Lane left his previous efforts in this sphere well behind when landing a gamble in a maiden chase at Wexford and bettered that when second in a handicap there 2 days ago, while Wa Wa returns to chasing on the back of 2 big-field wins over hurdles.
The selection is local hope ARCHIES CHARM who's been running with credit against well-handicapped rivals and may be able to last home

4/1(+0%) | (4) The Imposter 4/1, Thriving this season, landing a fifth handicap from last 6 starts (runner-up on other occasion) at Ffos Las 11 days ago. Up another 5 lb but he continues to defy the assessor and is very likely to give it another good go.
2nd (2) (4.5/1 +31%) Scamallach Liath |
4.5/1(+31%) | (2) Scamallach Liath 4.5/1, Irish point winner who has shaped with definite promise and like a stayer over hurdles, plugging on for second on handicap debut at Exeter. Slightly flattered by proximity to the winner that day but cheekpieces may help him travel with a bit more zest.
3rd (7) (4.5/1 -50%) Charging Point |
4.5/1(-50%) | (7) Charging Point 4.5/1, Overcame a troubled passage when making second handicap start a winning one at Southwell a month ago, well on top at the finish. Shapes like a stayer and revised mark may underestimate him.
4th (3) (11/1 +21%) Heaven Smart |
11/1(+21%) | (3) Heaven Smart 11/1, Runner-up in novice/maiden hurdles at Plumpton and Lingfield before Christmas but produced a rather tame finishing effort when last of 6 on handicap debut at Sandown (19.8f, good to soft) in February. Fitted with cheekpieces and again failed to see race out at Fontwell, so this trip is a worry.
5th (8) (6/1 +40%) Kraqueline |
6/1(+40%) | (8) Kraqueline 6/1, Showed fair form when reaching the frame in a couple of bumpers and has shown promise without quite matching that form over hurdles so far. Ludlow run last month suggests her mark is a shade too high.
6th (10) (20/1 -67%) San Pedro |
20/1(-67%) | (10) San Pedro 20/1, Aided by first-time cheekpieces when opening account over hurdles in 12-runner handicap at Lingfield (23f) in February. Was granted a pretty soft lead on that occasion and he failed to repeat that form at Plumpton.
7th (11) (12/1 +14%) Rebel Intentions |
12/1(+14%) | (11) Rebel Intentions 12/1, Hinted at promise in bumpers and showed fair form over hurdles last season. Disappointing over both sets of obstacles in handicaps this term, though.
8th (9) (9/1 +25%) Realm Of Glory |
9/1(+25%) | (9) Realm Of Glory 9/1, Showed a bit more than previously over hurdles when fifth in 13-runner novice at Ffos Las (20f, soft) in January. Laboured effort when disappointing on handicap debut a fortnight ago but looks worth a go at this trip.
9th (6) (11/1 +8%) Ailes D'amour |
11/1(+8%) | (6) Ailes D'amour 11/1, Got off the mark at Warwick in February and cast aside a lesser effort at Doncaster when finding only one too good upped to 27f at Sedgefield 10 days ago. Cheekpieces on and one to consider with stamina assured.
10th (1) (11/1 -10%) Revasser |
11/1(-10%) | (1) Revasser 11/1, Made winning start in a Warwick bumper in spring 2021. Back from a quiet spell when runner-up fitted with cheekpieces at Southwell a month ago and he can remain competitive back in a handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Imposter has enjoyed a fine season with five wins to his name, but his latest dead-heat at Ffos Las suggests that the handicapper may be catching up with him and he could prove vulnerable to the unexposed CHARGING POINT. Laura Morgan's inmate was a ready winner on his second start in a handicap at Southwell and looks the type to relish this extra distance. Scamallach Liath was far from disgraced when runner-up on his handicap bow at Exeter and is another to consider in first-time cheekpieces.
CHARGING POINT was value for extra when making his second start in handicaps a winning one at Southwell a month ago, and with this trip likely to unlock more, his revised mark is well within range. The Imposter is absolutely thriving and is second choice, with Revasser another to consider.
The Imposter makes a quick return from a hard race and it may be worth chancing CHARGING POINT who looks a stayer in the making.

3/1(-20%) | (4) Starry Eyed 3/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Consistent rather than progressive at 2 yrs, third of 14 in maiden at the Curragh (7f, heavy, 13/8) on final outing. Off 158 days. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut.

8th (7) (6.5/1 +19%) Autocrat |
6.5/1(+19%) | (7) Autocrat 6.5/1, Lightly-raced winner. 15/2, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Dundalk (10.7f) 44 days ago by head from Dubawi Spectre. Can make presence felt from 4 lb higher mark.
9th (6) (50/1 -150%) Who Not What |
50/1(-150%) | (6) Who Not What 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1, fourth of 11 in maiden at the Curragh (7f, good). Off 7 months. Significantly up in trip. Yard do well with similar sorts in handicaps and he could take a step forward this year.
10th (11) (22/1 +21%) Pigeon House |
22/1(+21%) | (11) Pigeon House 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/1 and in first-time blinkers, seventh of 9 to Aurifodina in nursery at this course (8f, soft). Off 169 days. Up in trip. Cheekpieces now applied.
11th (1) (22/1 -83%) Betterdaysrcoming |
22/1(-83%) | (1) Betterdaysrcoming 22/1, Winner at Naas in September. 9/2, tenth of 14 in minor event at same course (7f, heavy). Off 168 days. Significantly up in trip. Opening mark looks steep on handicap debut.
12th (10) (33/1 +50%) Donbeg Reel |
33/1(+50%) | (10) Donbeg Reel 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Good fifth in Curragh maiden on debut but took backwards steps both starts subsequently. Off 135 days. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut. Needs a couple of these to falter. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
PULSE LIGHT has a nice weight in this with Siobhan Rutledge taking 5lb off his back. The Dragon Pulse gelding stayed on well to finish third on a recent outing at Dundalk, over a mile, and looked like he would appreciate stepping up to this trip. He also seemed to handle testing conditions when fourth at Thurles last October so ticks a lot of boxes. Ballydoyle filly Starry Eyed commands plenty of respect on her handicap debut off an attractive looking mark of 82. She had three solid runs in maidens last season, including on heavy ground at the Curragh. Aurifodina won here over a mile last October, with plenty of cut in the ground, and she looks another for the shortlist. She is just a pound higher than when a good second here on her most recent start in October.
A highly-competitive three-year-old handicap. DUBAWI SPECTRE was overhauled only late by Autocrat at Dundalk last time and a chance is taken that the slightly shorter trip and small swing in the weights could help Jessica Harrington's gelding turn the tables. Teutates will need to learn to race more efficiently but looks open to significant progress, with Aurifodina also considered.
Loads of these have squeaks but a chance is taken on PULSE LIGHT for the in-form Noel Meade yard, despite his wide draw.

1st (10) (4.5/1 +36%) Gorak |
4.5/1(+36%) | (10) Gorak 4.5/1, Ayr novice winner (at 1m) for Richard Fahey who has made good start for new yard, going down narrowly over 7f at Chelmsford in February. Run of good form halted with the headgear left off at Kempton (1m) last month but fancied to bounce back with the cheekpieces reapplied.
2nd (4) (9/1 +10%) Perseverants |
9/1(+10%) | (4) Perseverants 9/1, Caused a 28/1 surprise to get off the mark for this yard at Wolverhampton in February and similar form when mid-field on both subsequent starts. Was a useful sort on turf in France so he may well have a say in proceedings.
3rd (11) (10/1 +9%) Golden Melody |
10/1(+9%) | (11) Golden Melody 10/1, Sole success last season came at Thirsk in September and having underperformed having a rare start on the all-weather at Wolverhampton (8.6f) in November, she needs to hit the ground running back on turf.
4th (8) (4.5/1 +10%) Cold Stare |
4.5/1(+10%) | (8) Cold Stare 4.5/1, Kept busy last season and perhaps found that combined with a big mid-race catching up with him when finishing well held over C&D (heavy) in November. Mark eases further and he's one to look out for having shaped well at this meeting on reappearance last year.
5th (1) (5.5/1 +0%) Ascot Adventure |
5.5/1(+0%) | (1) Ascot Adventure 5.5/1, Consistent on the whole last season but ended his time with Clive Cox with a bit of a whimper, beaten before the extra 1f became a factor when well held at Haydock (8f, heavy) 6 months ago. Now 1 lb below last winning mark but this likely to reveal plenty.
6th (12) (12/1 +0%) Iris Dancer |
12/1(+0%) | (12) Iris Dancer 12/1, Race mostly at sprint trips and doubled her tally for the season at Hamilton in September. Ended the campaign with a couple of below-par efforts which is reflected in her mark but will need to be fully tuned up to take this.
7th (5) (80/1 -142%) Exigency |
80/1(-142%) | (5) Exigency 80/1, Well held on all 3 starts for this yard so plenty to prove at present.
8th (2) (8/1 -60%) Mohi |
8/1(-60%) | (2) Mohi 8/1, Not scored since his 2-y-o days but turned in best effort for quite some time when runner-up at Kempton last month, the step up in trip seemingly the catalyst. Every chance he will be in the mix back on turf.
9th (6) (7.5/1 +6%) Vince Lombardi |
7.5/1(+6%) | (6) Vince Lombardi 7.5/1, Impressive back sprinting when landing Carlisle handicap in August. However, he wasn't so good in a Racing League event at Newcastle next time and ran too badly to be true when last seen in September at Ayr (6f, good). Percentage call is to look elsewhere.
10th (9) (11/1 +8%) King Of York |
11/1(+8%) | (9) King Of York 11/1, Lightly raced 4-y-o who was doing well early last year and rather predictably shaped as if needing the run after 14 months off at Wolverhampton (8.6f) just under 3 weeks ago. This should reveal what ability remains.
11th (7) (14/1 -75%) Cliffcake |
14/1(-75%) | (7) Cliffcake 14/1, Won 6 of his first 10 starts for this yard. Lurks on a handy mark but will need to bounce back from a disappointing effort when well backed at Southwell (8.1f, 9/4) in December if he's to get involved.
12th (3) (20/1 +9%) Little Boy Blue |
20/1(+9%) | (3) Little Boy Blue 20/1, Made it 3 wins from 5 starts at Brighton when fitted with cheekpieces last May but failed to land a blow on all 3 subsequent starts after and likely to need this outing after 6 months off. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Mohi appeared to appreciate the extra distance when finishing second over 7f at Kempton last month and he could have more to offer on this switch to the turf. A chance, however, is taken on ASCOT ADVENTURE, who makes both his stable and seasonal debut for David O'Meara. The selection didn't appear to stay 1m on his October appearance at Haydock but is now 1lb lower than last season's success at that course. Gorak has some solid form over this distance to his name and completes the shortlist.
Several in with a squeak but COLD STARE shaped well on reappearance at this meeting last year and, now operating from much lower in the weights, he gets the vote to snap a lengthy losing run. Mohi turned in his best effort for quite some time when runner-up at Kempton last month so he may emerge as the main danger, with stable-switcher Ascot Adventure and Iris Dancer another couple to consider.
Bill Turner's veteran LITTLE BOY BLUE won't mind what the weather does and has a very solid record when fresh. He gets the nod.

11/1(+31%) | (9) Agirlcalledchloe 11/1, 16/1, sixth of 16 in handicap chase at Wexford (20f, good to soft) 28 days ago. Place claims for a yard which has won this race twice in recent years.
3rd (3) (2/1 +0%) Shes Some Doll |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SHES SOME DOLL can gain a deserved victory here. The Yeats mare has had some jumping issues but has run well on her last couple of starts, most recently when second to Motown Maggie at Navan early last month. She was just pipped close home then and off a pound higher mark must have a big shout of gaining compensation. So Ladylike has a feather weight in this with Shane O'Callaghan taking a valuable 7lb off and she could be a danger. Another daughter of Yeats, she ran really well on her penultimate outing when chasing home Ocean Legacy over fences at Wexford. Full Noise has been out of form recently but market moves would be interesting off a lowly mark.
INDIE BELLE returns to chasing for the first time since her Tramore maiden success in December and gets the nod for Robert Widger. Shes Some Doll rates an obvious danger on the back of last month's Navan second. Philip Rothwell has twice tasted success in this race in recent years so it would also be no surprise to see Agirlcalledchloe go well.
The most prudent option looks to be the in-form SHES SOME DOLL (nap), who seems to have got her jumping sorted

1st (1) (3.33/1 +5%) Two For Gold |
3.33/1(+5%) | (1) Two For Gold 3.33/1, Returned better than ever last winter, successful in handicaps at Doncaster/Lingfield prior to a gallant second in Gr 1 Ascot Chase. Not at best over National fences on return and well held in handicap at the Cheltenham Festival but yard in better form now at least. Interesting down in class.
2nd (5) (3/1 +10%) Run To Milan |
3/1(+10%) | (5) Run To Milan 3/1, Successful at Exeter off a 8 lb higher mark last term and posted best effort of the season so far when third in a big-field veteran handicap at Sandown in January. Below par in open company there next time but expected to bounce back returned to a veterans event with yard resurgent in recent days.
3rd (4) (2.75/1 -22%) Larry |
2.75/1(-22%) | (4) Larry 2.75/1, Decent strike rate over the years and jumped much better than usual when winning over C&D on return. Back to that level when runner-up to a subsequent winner in veterans event at Newbury last month and needs considering.
4th (2) (9/1 -13%) Wishing And Hoping |
9/1(-13%) | (2) Wishing And Hoping 9/1, Last 2 wins have come in veterans' company, including when defying big odds in 18-runner Series Final at Sandown in January. Struggled at listed level at Kelso next time but easy to forgive that. Player.
5th (3) (10/1 -82%) Ruthless Article |
10/1(-82%) | (3) Ruthless Article 10/1, Better than ever last summer, runner-up in a valuable 3¼m listed handicap chase at Uttoxeter in June prior to going one better over the same C&D a month later. 5 lb rise fair enough but may find a few of these too strong back from an 8-month break. Engaged 4.37 Stratford Saturday.
6th (6) (5/1 +55%) Saint Xavier |
5/1(+55%) | (6) Saint Xavier 5/1, In good form in veterans' company this season, scoring over 25f at Haydock in November before a solid fifth of 18 at Sandown. However, below par both starts since so needs to bounce back. 1 lb out of handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
TWO FOR GOLD found the Magners Plate at the Cheltenham Festival too much to handle and the 10-year-old has been given an excellent chance by the handicapper, having dropped him 6lb, ahead of his first run in a veterans' contest. Wishing And Hoping won the final of this series at Sandown in January and bids to bounce back from a heavy defeat in Listed company at Kelso. Larry won here on his return to action in November and following a couple of ordinary efforts, took a step back in the right direction when runner-up at Newbury last month.
RUN TO MILAN shaped as if retaining all of his ability when third behind Wishing And Hoping in the Veterans' Series Final at Sandown and Victor Dartnall's charge is taken to come out on top this time with the yard resurgent in recent days. Two For Gold is used to keeping much better company than this so also needs considering under top weight.
The veterans present rather mixed credentials but a chance is taken that TWO FOR GOLD can return to something like last season's form.

Paul Flynn said he was going to target a race at Leopardstown with CHEERS AGAIN after his most recent win at Dundalk and there could be a bit more to come from the Mukhadram gelding despite a couple of hikes for his wins on the all-weather. He won with plenty in hand when scoring twice on the polytrack over the winter and despite a 19lb rise for his last win he's fancied to go in again. Robert Whearty takes a useful 7lb off his back now. Dunum was in terrific form last season, winning four on the bounce before finishing up with a good runner-up effort at the Curragh. He is only a pound higher than when last seen and has to be respected. Lord Vader was picked up cheaply at the sales last summer by Emmet Mullins and market moves for the Ulysses gelding would be interesting.
This has a very open look to it but PRINCESS RAJJ looks ready for 1m and back on her last winning mark, she's certainly weighted to strike. A 6-month absence asks a question but she's in very good hands so she gets the vote in favour of Dunum and Cheers Again.
Having run a stormer in the Irish Lincoln a week ago, COMFORT LINE is taking a drop in class here and can claim this.

1st (8) (7/1 +13%) Little Muddy |
7/1(+13%) | (8) Little Muddy 7/1, C&D winner. Won at Ayr last July and held form well in defeat after, though she is perhaps more effective over 6f nowadays, so may need a couple of these to falter on return from 158 days off.
2nd (1) (20/1 -67%) Spoof |
20/1(-67%) | (1) Spoof 20/1, Winless since mid-2021 and ran down the field both starts after joining this yard late last year. Has dropped to potentially lenient mark but others make more appeal on balance.
3rd (6) (6.5/1 +19%) Burj Malinka |
6.5/1(+19%) | (6) Burj Malinka 6.5/1, Won twice at Hamilton last season and ended campaign with a good effort at Pontefract. Market may act as best guide to expectations on return.
4th (11) (22/1 +33%) Tantastic |
22/1(+33%) | (11) Tantastic 22/1, Arrives here after a couple of disappointing performances (lost all chance at start at Southwell last time) and this race is a stronger contest than he ususal contests, so is opposable on balance.
5th (5) (3.5/1 +53%) Majeski Man |
3.5/1(+53%) | (5) Majeski Man 3.5/1, Runner-up 4 times since switching to this yard last summer. Possibly needed run when ninth of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 30 days ago on return and isn't ruled out with that effort under his belt.
6th (9) (4.5/1 +25%) High Opinion |
4.5/1(+25%) | (9) High Opinion 4.5/1, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Nottingham (5f, soft) in October. Generally progressive last season and has fewer miles on the clock than most in this field, so no surprise to see him improve further this term.
7th (7) (3.5/1 -27%) Prospect |
3.5/1(-27%) | (7) Prospect 3.5/1, Won at Thirsk in the first half of 2022 and ran well when a close fifth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle on return (6f, 12/1) 24 days ago. LIkely to be sharper here and rates a leading player from same mark.
8th (2) (9/1 -125%) Stone Of Destiny |
9/1(-125%) | (2) Stone Of Destiny 9/1, Tricky sort ran well on second outing for this yard when runner-up over at Southwell in December but he hasn't threatened to take advantage of a falling mark since. Nevertheless, would hold serious claims if on a going day so can't be fully discounted .
9th (10) (33/1 -32%) Van Gerwen |
33/1(-32%) | (10) Van Gerwen 33/1, Won at Nottingham last season but ended the year badly out of sorts and his recent return at Wolverhampton didn't inspire much confidence of a revival.
10th (4) (11/1 -10%) Good Luck Fox |
11/1(-10%) | (4) Good Luck Fox 11/1, Landed back-to-back wins over this trip at Nottingham and Catterick last term. Ended last season in a bit of a lull but is now only 1 lb above last winning mark and he's not discounted if sharp enough after absence here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
STONE OF DESTINY arrives seeking a first victory since landing the Portland here in September 2020 and has gradually dropped down the handicap over the winter months. A couple of his recent efforts have suggested the fire still burns and this may be an ideal opportunity to strike, with some of his likely main rivals lacking a recent run. High Opinion remains open to improvement on just his seventh career outing, while others to note include Burj Malinka and Prospect.
A typically competitive sprint handicap. PROSPECT only emptied late on returning at Newcastle last month and, with the benefit of that recent run under his belt, gets the nod ahead of the less-exposed High Opinion. The majority of the field hold some sort of frame claim, with Good Luck Fox perhaps of most interest of the remainder.
Preference is for BURJ MALINKA who should relish the likely soft conditions and has gone well fresh in the past.

1st (7) (6.5/1 -333%) Shantou Show |
6.5/1(-333%) | (7) Shantou Show 6.5/1, €40,000 3-y-o, Shantou gelding. Dam, unraced, closely related to fairly useful hurdler/fair chaser (stayed 25f) Sea Light. Off mark in points at second attempt (Feb 11). Looks an interesting Rules newcomer.
2nd (1) (9/1 +10%) Ahaknowyerself |
9/1(+10%) | (1) Ahaknowyerself 9/1, Scorpion gelding. Dam (h98), bumper winner (stayed 3m). Off mark in points at tenth attempt (Mar 12).
3rd (5) (6/1 +73%) John The Spark |
6/1(+73%) | (5) John The Spark 6/1, Telescope gelding. Half-brother to point winner. Dam (c125/h106) 2¼m/2½m hurdle/chase winner (stayed 31f). Placed first 2 starts in points, fifth last time (Feb 18).
4th (4) (8/1 +11%) Happy Victory |
8/1(+11%) | (4) Happy Victory 8/1, Modest hurdler. 2/1, possibly amiss when pulled up in hunter chase at Thurles (25.4f, soft) on debut over fences 20 days ago, weakening quickly early final circuit.
5th (3) (3.2/1 +42%) Faith Loving |
3.2/1(+42%) | (3) Faith Loving 3.2/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 6 in hunter chase at Fairyhouse (23.7f, heavy, 7/1) 138 days ago.
|F| (8) (16/1 +36%) Sizing Diamond |
16/1(+36%) | (8) Sizing Diamond 16/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fifth of 7 in hunter chase (14/1) at Down Royal (19.6f, soft) 16 days ago.
|PU| (9) (4/1 +50%) Soivegotachance |
4/1(+50%) | (9) Soivegotachance 4/1, Fair hurdler. 11/4, fourth of 8 in handicap chase at Sedgefield (19.3f, good to soft) on debut over fences. Up in trip. Easily off mark in points at fourth attempt (Mar 4).
|PU| (2) (4.5/1 +0%) Custers Mistake |
4.5/1(+0%) | (2) Custers Mistake 4.5/1, Fair hurdler. Sixth of 8 in handicap chase (11/2) at Sligo (17.2f, good to soft). Has won 2 of last 4 starts in points and merits respect.
|PU| (10) (80/1 -100%) All Loved Up |
80/1(-100%) | (10) All Loved Up 80/1, Twice-raced maiden. Ninth of 10 in novice hurdle at this course (21.8f, good, 80/1). Makes chase debut. Maiden pointer, runner-up last time (Jan 15) |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CUSTERS MISTAKE had some decent 'track' form a couple of years ago and could prove the pick here after a couple of wins in point-to-points. The Zoffany gelding was only beaten a head in a Roscommon maiden hurdle back in September 2021 and was also placed a couple of times over fences. He has struck twice having had his sights lowered in point-to-points this year and this looks a winnable opportunity now back on the racecourse. Shantou Snow is a potential improver and could be the danger. He took a maiden at Kirkistown in February on his second start and that form has been boosted since with the runner-up going on to score by a wide margin back at the same venue. Faith Loving has some good point-to-point form and this is a lot easier than the hunters chase he ran in at Fairyhouse, behind the exciting Ferns Lock. He could get involved at the business end this time.
SHANTOU SHOW opened his account in points at the second attempt and might well be able to go in again in a weak hunter. Custers Mistake looks the main danger ahead of Ahaknowyerself.
Probably about half of these have a life but CUSTERS MISTAKE, not too shabby under Rules in the past, comes here on a roll

1st (14) (3.5/1 +22%) Ivaldi |
3.5/1(+22%) | (14) Ivaldi 3.5/1, Unexposed sort who fell early on his Kemoton handicap debut on Boxing Day and shaped better than the result when fourth of 12 over 3m at Ascot next time. Again not seen to best advantage back at Kempton latest, and too soon to be writing off.
2nd (1) (16/1 -60%) Espoir De Romay |
16/1(-60%) | (1) Espoir De Romay 16/1, Below form over fences last season and shaped as if needing his reappearance at Exeter 49 days ago. Potentially well treated if he can build on that.
3rd (13) (9/1 -64%) Rocky Man |
9/1(-64%) | (13) Rocky Man 9/1, French Flat winner who upped his game to open his hurdling account at the fourth attempt in a handicap at Wetherby in October. Even better effort when runner-up there since and probably best excused (seemed amiss) latest effort.
4th (15) (14/1 +44%) Hasty Parisian |
14/1(+44%) | (15) Hasty Parisian 14/1, Did well as a juvenile last season, winning at Sandown and made the frame on several occasions, too. Performed with credit when third at Doncaster last time and every chance he'll go well again.
5th (12) (8.5/1 +0%) Fifty Ball |
8.5/1(+0%) | (12) Fifty Ball 8.5/1, Cashed in off reduced mark over C&D on final start last season but hasn't been firing this season.
6th (3) (18/1 -13%) Ballybegg |
18/1(-13%) | (3) Ballybegg 18/1, Last 2 wins gained over 2½m at Uttoxeter, bouncing back to form with a bang to comfortably see off 10 rivals in February. Pulled up at Chepstow since, though.
7th (7) (16/1 +11%) Sir Psycho |
16/1(+11%) | (7) Sir Psycho 16/1, Won 3 times as a juvenile hurdler in 2019/20 season. Very lightly raced since and suffered a nasty experience when switched to fences on return from 2 years off at Bangor, falling heavily before crashing through a wing when loose. Has underperformed twice over hurdles since.
8th (5) (16/1 +36%) Gentleman At Arms |
16/1(+36%) | (5) Gentleman At Arms 16/1, Ended last season with a second in Grade 1 novice hurdle at Aintree (3m, good). Hasn't scaled the same heights this time round, including over fences, and others are more persuasive.
9th (6) (7.5/1 -50%) Certainly Red |
7.5/1(-50%) | (6) Certainly Red 7.5/1, Reliable sort who has taken his form up a level over fencin recent weeks, completing a hat-trick at Wincanton a couple of months ago. Looks interesting back over hurdles.
|F| (11) (14/1 +30%) Clay Rogers |
14/1(+30%) | (11) Clay Rogers 14/1, Landed a brace of small-field events in the summer of 2021 and overcame a 17-month absence and notable market weakness to complete the hat-trick with a fair amount in hand switched to a handicap at Southwell in January. Disappointed since, though.
|U| (10) (10/1 +38%) Top Of The Bill |
10/1(+38%) | (10) Top Of The Bill 10/1, Dual winner this term and shaped as if still in form at Chepstow last time. Likely to give another good account for all that he's not entirely straightforward.
10th (4) (5.5/1 +39%) Jerrash |
5.5/1(+39%) | (4) Jerrash 5.5/1, Back on track following 11 months off when successful at Plumpton (25f) in January but failed to back it up at Haydock 43 days ago.
11th (2) (40/1 -233%) J'ai Froid |
40/1(-233%) | (2) J'ai Froid 40/1, Progressive hurdler earlier in his career but latest run was sub-par and he's not been seen for 11 months. Something to prove.
12th (9) (22/1 +12%) Shantou Express |
22/1(+12%) | (9) Shantou Express 22/1, Dual hurdles winner last spring. Had another unsuccessful spell over fences in the summer/autumn and ran respectably back hurdling at Cheltenham in December. Pulled up at Kempton since, though. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
JERRASH pulled up in a Pertemps qualifier at Haydock but he was found to be coughing post-race and the six-year-old, a winner on hurdling debut at this track in January of last year, is capable of bouncing back from that display. Top Of The Bill has to enter the reckoning based on his Exeter victory on his penultimate start, while others capable of a decent showing include Rocky Man and Ivaldi.
ROCKY MAN was on the up prior to seeming amiss last time, so he's worth a chance too resume progress and land this at the possible expense of Hasty Parisian, who is on a handy mark. Certainly Red is a big player if he can reproduce his recent chasing form back over the smaller obstacles.
The in-form chaser Certainly Red has to be respected but this could go to SHANTOU EXPRESS, who has dropped down the weights.

1st (6) (1.2/1 +70%) Purple Gown |
1.2/1(+70%) | (6) Purple Gown 1.2/1, After 5 months off, ran up to her best when second of 19 in handicap at the Curragh (1m, heavy, 28/1) 8 days ago. Can give another good account.
2nd (2) (20/1 +39%) Maggie And Me |
20/1(+39%) | (2) Maggie And Me 20/1, Ran better than on seasonal/stable debut when seventh of 14 in maiden (66/1) at Dundalk (7f) 37 days ago, though without threatening. Others make more appeal back in handicap company.
3rd (4) (4/1 +60%) Leabaland |
4/1(+60%) | (4) Leabaland 4/1, Reverted to more positive tactics, ran better than for a while when second of 14 in handicap (13/2) at Dundalk (1m) 17 days ago. Task is now to build on that effort.
4th (10) (10/1 +60%) Gatsby Cap |
10/1(+60%) | (10) Gatsby Cap 10/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2021. 20/1, again below form when tenth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f) 17 days ago. Lurks on a dangerous mark as he drops back down in trip.
5th (3) (3/1 +25%) Lauroline |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Lauroline 3/1, Has been running consistently this year, third of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (7f, 5/4) 37 days ago. Needs to find more as she makes her turf/handicap debut.
6th (8) (16/1 +36%) Eyela |
16/1(+36%) | (8) Eyela 16/1, No better than mid-division in a trio of maidens at Dundalk, well held when thirteenth of 14 (1m, 80/1) on latest. Needs to find much more as she makes handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
LEABALAND was narrowly denied on his most recent start at Dundalk and looks capable of winning again off this kind of mark. The Cappella Sansevero gelding lost out by a head in a tight finish last time and is only a couple of pounds higher now. He has winning form in soft ground in the past so looks fairly versatile that way. Purple Gown ran a big race when second to Razdan on her return to action at the Curragh last weekend and looks a danger here despite a 6lb rise for that effort. Lauroline has been knocking on the door in all-weather maidens and is on a fair mark now trying handicap company. A lot of her sire's progeny handle soft ground well.
KHATTAAT bounced back to form when runner-up at Dundalk last time, with the winner Chazzesmee scoring again since, so the 4-y-o can build on that effort to open his account with Colin Keane booked for the ride. Notforalongtime has been holding his form well and is feared most, ahead of Purple Gown.
Having faced an impossible task against a now 92-rated rival last time, KHATTAAT won't have a rival of that calibre to beat today.

1st (1) (1.5/1 +45%) Ey Up It's Maggie |
1.5/1(+45%) | (1) Ey Up It's Maggie 1.5/1, Lost her consistency during the second half of 2022, though short of room 2f out when fourth of 14 in handicap at Nottingham (5f, soft) on her final outing. Respected with good-value claimer on board as she drops in grade on her return.
2nd (10) (12/1 +40%) Gustav Graves |
12/1(+40%) | (10) Gustav Graves 12/1, At least as good as ever when doubling his career tally in handicap at Leicester (5f, good) on his final start in 2022. Has finished down the field both runs this year though, so has a bit to prove at present.
3rd (2) (11/1 -38%) Glory Fighter |
11/1(-38%) | (2) Glory Fighter 11/1, Runner-up 3 times last term before losing his form towards the end of the campaign. Is now 4 lb below his last winning mark, though, so he's capable of getting involved if ready to go after 6 months off.
4th (6) (14/1 -17%) Refuge |
14/1(-17%) | (6) Refuge 14/1, Successful 3 times in handicaps at Hamilton (all at 5f) in 2022 and soon back to form when placed on his first 2 outings in September. However, last of 12 at the same course when last seen 6 months ago.
5th (5) (22/1 -175%) Sherdil |
22/1(-175%) | (5) Sherdil 22/1, Recorded back-to-back handicap wins at Beverley (5f) last summer and not discredited when fifth of 12 at the same C&D (good to soft) on his final start of the year in September. Needs to find more away from Beverley.
6th (3) (7.5/1 -50%) Phoenix Beach |
7.5/1(-50%) | (3) Phoenix Beach 7.5/1, Progressed again when off the mark in minor event at Southwell (6.1f) in August and subsequently sent off favourite (3/1) at the same C&D on handicap debut, but reportedly finished lame. Remains early days, so no surprise to see him bounce back.
7th (9) (6.5/1 -18%) Hey Mr |
6.5/1(-18%) | (9) Hey Mr 6.5/1, From a falling mark, shaped well when sixth of 13 in handicap at this course (5.6f, good) when last seen in September, faring best of those on the near flank. Could be ready to return to winning ways on first run for yard after leaving Les Eyre.
8th (8) (6.5/1 +35%) Star Of Aria |
6.5/1(+35%) | (8) Star Of Aria 6.5/1, On only his second start in a handicap, resumed his progress when third of 9 (5/1) at Southwell in November. Was suited by the return to 6f that day, so needs to pick up where he left off now back down in trip on turf.
9th (7) (11/1 -10%) Indian Sounds |
11/1(-10%) | (7) Indian Sounds 11/1, Twenty three runs since his last win in 2020, but has been dropping in the weights as a result and made the frame when fourth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (5f, 16/1) in January. Task is now to build on his latest effort having had a wind op.
10th (4) (22/1 -83%) Lotus Rose |
22/1(-83%) | (4) Lotus Rose 22/1, Won 2 handicaps at Redcar (both at 5f) last season, with his latest success coming in September. However, not in the same form on his last 2 starts of the campaign, so others preferred on his reappearance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
STAR OF ARIA produced his best effort to date when third at Southwell in November and remains on the same mark on his return to turf, having not run too badly at Redcar on his second career outing in September. Sherdil won twice at Beverley last year and may have further improvement to come this season, while Phoenix Beach and Ey Up It's Maggie complete the shortlist.
The finale can go the way of HEY MR, who shaped well at this course on his final outing last season, faring best of those who raced stand side. The 5-y-o could be ready to take advantage of his career-low mark on his first start for Paul Midgley, though Ey Up It's Maggie is respected as she drops in grade. Phoenix Beach completes the shortlist.
This can go to EY UP IT'S MAGGIE who is 8lb lower than for her last win and drops into a Class 5 handicap for the first time.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
