1st (8) (6/1 -20%) Duke Of Luckley |
6/1(-20%) | (8) Duke Of Luckley 6/1, Prone to mistakes over fences but often there or thereabouts. Can go well fresh so frame claims. Conditions to suit and has C&D form; can go well fresh; cheekpieces replace visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/2 -157%) Great Samourai |
9/2(-157%) | (4) Great Samourai 9/2, Had been disputing the lead when falling 2 out in an Irish point and showed fair form in maiden hurdles last spring. Ran to a similar level when second at Huntingdon on handicap/chase debut return and positive start for this yard when filling same spot here (15.8f). Likely to stay and big shout. Ran right up to his best here (2m, soft) on stable debut last month; new trip should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (17/2 +87%) Top Of The Bay |
17/2(+87%) | (9) Top Of The Bay 17/2, No solid form under Rules so far, including on handicap/chase debut. Poor rules form but better ground/absence of a hood could help; risky all the same. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (20/1 -150%) Begin The Luck |
20/1(-150%) | (3) Begin The Luck 20/1, Found wins hard to come by over hurdles but took well to chasing, winning 4 of his last 6 starts, improving again when wide-margin winner of 4-runner event at Stratford in June. Probably needed the run at Wincanton on first run since 4 weeks ago and better expected now. C&D winner; chance on 2023 best but pulled up on last month's stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (10/3 -11%) Borodale |
10/3(-11%) | (6) Borodale 10/3, Fortunate to open his account over hurdles at Chepstow last time, 6 lengths second when left in front last and just holding on. Still, it was a good run and remains unexposed in handicaps. Makes chase debut. Scrambled home in a Chepstow hurdle in January; goes chasing off the same mark; unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (8/1 +27%) Maninsane |
8/1(+27%) | (2) Maninsane 8/1, Dual winner in first campaign over fences last term but mixed record this season, well held last 2 starts. Potentially on a good mark now but others more solid. Track/ground no problem; excuses the last twice and could go well in these calmer waters. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (5/2 +69%) Couldbeaweapon |
5/2(+69%) | (7) Couldbeaweapon 5/2, Fair winner at 16f over hurdles but only modest form at best over fences, failing to fire at Lingfield last time. Not as good over fences as hurdles yet and needs to brush up his jumping; good mark though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (40/1 -300%) Man Again |
40/1(-300%) | (1) Man Again 40/1, Winning hurdler who displayed fairly useful form over fences in France but returned from an absence with a tame display at Sandown and Leicester for current yard. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Something to prove. Pulled up in two runs for yard after a break; had wind op & now tongue tied; could revive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (66/1 -230%) Luckofthedraw |
66/1(-230%) | (5) Luckofthedraw 66/1, Back to winning ways at Huntingdon (19.9f, 3 runners) over a year ago but ended the campaign out of sorts and could hardly have shown any less under a change of tactics after 11 months off at Plumpton 23 days ago. Chance on last season's best but it was an underwhelming return at Plumpton last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Borodale was somewhat of a fortuitous winner when being left in the lead at the final hurdle at Chepstow in January. The Flemensfirth gelding has the stamp of a chaser and he must warrant consideration now tackling fences. However, GREAT SAMOURAI has posted two solid efforts in defeat in this sphere, as evidenced at Huntingdon and at this venue last month, and the seven-year-old rates a more solid proposition. A wind procedure may have rejuvenated Man Again and any market support would be interesting.
GREAT SAMOURAI made an encouraging start to life with a new yard when second to a subsequent winner here 5 weeks ago and can go one better off the same mark. Chasing-newcomer Borodale may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Begin The Luck.
Duke Of Luckley can go well back from a break but GREAT SAMOURAI may be the answer on the back of a good stable debut.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (17) (9/1 +25%) Toor Khov |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (100/1 -100%) Notarazoo |
100/1(-100%) | (10) Notarazoo 100/1, €20,000 3-y-o, Mahler gelding. Dam, ran twice over hurdles, half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 3m) Daisy's Gift. Third sole start between the flags last spring. Beaten 24l on sole point start a year ago; tough task on rules debut. |

250/1(-67%) | (5) El Phenomeno 250/1, Twice-raced maiden. Eleventh of 15 in novice hurdle at Gowran (16f, heavy, 200/1) 164 days ago. Back up in trip. Tailed-off in two maiden hurdles and can't be fancied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (15) (100/1 +33%) Shanroe Nelson |
100/1(+33%) | (15) Shanroe Nelson 100/1, €10,000 3-y-o, Mount Nelson gelding. Brother to fair 19f hurdle winner Tommys Charm. Entitled to come on for the run. Cost 10,000euros as a 3yo; by a decent sire and could run well on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (20) (150/1 +0%) Thunder Rose |
150/1(+0%) | (20) Thunder Rose 150/1, Lightly-raced maiden under Rules. Creditable eighth of 15 in novice hurdle (25/1) at Down Royal (19.8f, soft) 9 days ago. Some ability in bumpers and maiden hurdles but has plenty to find against some of these. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (6) (200/1 -33%) Emperor Of Silk |
200/1(-33%) | (6) Emperor Of Silk 200/1, Modest maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. Ninth of 14 in handicap (14/1) at Dundalk (12f) 28 days ago. Modest Flat maiden has been placed twice in that sphere; best watched. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BRAVE FORTUNE has good recent form. He has run well in each of his four starts todate, winning his point-to-point easily last October and from his Thurles race last-time-out, the winner, runner-up and fifth-placed horses have each scored subsequently. Recoded ran well when beaten three and a half lengths by Staffordshire Knot and while he conceded 5lb the that recently-Grade 1-placed winner, hasn't run since and had previously been beaten in a Carlisle hurdle. Pour Les Filles is a point-to-point and bumper winner who ran well in a Grade 2 bumper last April. He nonetheless appeared green on Punchestown hurdles' debut (at one point jumping a pathway) and while he ran well, is absent since and now concedes a winners' penalty. Nas Na Riogh finished three lengths ahead of Park The Giant at Navan last December and while both are useful, might find this maiden too strong. Galway festival bumper winner Fortunate Lighting is probably best watched on her reappearance and hurdles' debut. Too Knov also faces a tough task while Depalma showed some promise on debut.
It was a decent maiden hurdle in which POUR LES FILLES was a promising third on his hurdles debut at Punchestown when last seen in October and he may well find the necessary improvement to see off the likes of Nas Na Riogh, Park The Giant and Brave Fortune (in order of preference). Indeed, Gordon Elliott's charge achieved a useful level of form in bumpers (wasn't beaten far in a Grade 2 event at Aintree last spring) and he is not short of potential. Toor Khov also enters calculations.
PARK THE GIANT has 3l to find with Nas Na Riogh from their clash at Navan but he bettered that effort since and is selected.

1st (9) (12/1 -33%) Amerigo Vespucci |
12/1(-33%) | (9) Amerigo Vespucci 12/1, Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 11/2) 10 days ago, slowly away. Cheekpieces on first time. Ex-Irish and now 0-10; beaten under 4l in his two runs for this yard (7f AW handicaps). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (11/2 +73%) Dashing Donkey |
11/2(+73%) | (8) Dashing Donkey 11/2, Eighth of 10 in maiden (100/1) at Lingfield (7f, AW) 18 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Poor runs on the AW; gelded ahead of handicap/turf debut; likely best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (9/1 -29%) Ready Or Nott |
9/1(-29%) | (1) Ready Or Nott 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 6/1, good fourth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 13 days ago, slowly away. Should be a factor at this level. Went handicapping off a low mark and ran as though the race would bring her on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (9/1 -13%) Patronage |
9/1(-13%) | (5) Patronage 9/1, Winner at Newcastle in March. Bit below form fifth of 12 in handicap (11/1) at Newcastle (8f) 15 days ago. Others more persuasive. Successful handicap debut on the AW but then only fifth on his return to Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (10/3 -33%) Magic Rascal |
10/3(-33%) | (7) Magic Rascal 10/3, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, last of 10 in minor event at Southwell (7.1f). Off 133 days (gelded and had a breathing operation). Makes handicap debut. Open to improvement for yard with a good record with similar types. Poor last year but horses from this yard can burst into life once handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/1 -40%) Serendipitous Lady |
7/1(-40%) | (4) Serendipitous Lady 7/1, Winner here in October. Eighth of 9 in nursery (9/2) at Chelmsford City (8f), met some trouble. Off 168 days. First run for yard after leaving Michael Bell. Tongue strap on first time and the market may guide. Course winner on soft over 7f; remains to be seen if she needs those conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (11/1 +8%) Miss Galiway |
11/1(+8%) | (6) Miss Galiway 11/1, Fared no better on reappearance when eighth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 38 days ago. Well held last season and her handicap debut on the AW was no better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (4/1 -45%) Medician Star |
4/1(-45%) | (3) Medician Star 4/1, Promising sort. Excellent third of 7 in handicap (16/5) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 13 days ago, conceding first run. Shortlist material from the same mark with promise of more to come. Eyecatching handicap debut on the AW and a winner waiting to happen off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (33/1 +18%) Dashing Willie |
33/1(+18%) | (10) Dashing Willie 33/1, Showed slightly more when tenth of 12 in maiden (250/1) at Kempton (7f) 20 days ago. Makes handicap debut and lots more needed. Has finished pretty much tailed off in all his runs (6f/7f) and has an official mark of 41. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (10/1 -67%) Silver Shamrock |
10/1(-67%) | (2) Silver Shamrock 10/1, Sent off 66/1 but surpassed 2-y-o form when a good sixth of 13 in handicap at this C&D (good to firm) 10 days ago. Merits consideration. Ran on late in the day to be a closing sixth on handicap debut over C&D ten days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
MEDICIAN STAR wasn't beaten far on his handicap debut at Lingfield 13 days ago and, likely to have come on for the run, the son of Galileo Gold heads the shortlist off the same mark here. Ready Or Nott is another with the potential to progress from a workable mark, while Serendipitous Lady, a former stablemate of the selection, commands respect as a previous course winner who can make further strides on turf this season.
MEDICIAN STAR showed much-improved form despite looking rough around the edges when third at Lingfield a fortnight ago and, sure to build on that, he makes plenty of appeal. Magic Rascal represents a yard with an excellent record with similar types so he's a threat, along with Serendipitous Lady, a former stablemate of the selection.
Michael Bell's MEDICIAN STAR (nap) did well to finish close up on his handicap debut after a slow start had him on the back foot.

Moon Flight |
(6) (12/1 -20%)12/1(-20%) | (6) Moon Flight 12/1, Been in fine form in 5f AW handicaps but this is a stiff-enough task for his first run on turf. Improving on AW and although this is his turf debut, he's one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (10) (8/1 +33%) Night On Earth |
8/1(+33%) | (10) Night On Earth 8/1, Scored at Lingfield (5f) in January and ran well from the front when beaten ½-length by Jojo Rabbit at Wolverhampton last time. Largely consistent since the turn of the year but has flopped on previous visits to Epsom. Comes here in good form but behind Jojo Rabbit latest and yet to shine at Epsom. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (6/1 +50%) Looking For Lynda |
6/1(+50%) | (4) Looking For Lynda 6/1, Better than ever when winning in a big field at York (5f) last September. Should have come on for his Pontefract return 3 weeks ago and no surprise if he's bang there. Low-key return but that is easy to excuse; good mark on the pick of his 2023 form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (25/1 -39%) The Defiant |
25/1(-39%) | (13) The Defiant 25/1, Scored again at Chelmsford last month and ran well from the front when second to classy one at Lingfield a fortnight ago. Trapped wide at former track last time but this looks tough back on turf. Not at his best last time and this is a stronger race than he's used to. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (8/1 -100%) Clearpoint |
8/1(-100%) | (3) Clearpoint 8/1, Dual AW winner in the autumn who bounced back to form on just second run for current yard when third at Lingfield (6f) last time, though had the run of the race. More needed. Fine front-running third (6f) at Lingfield on Good Friday; well drawn; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (14/1 +0%) Lihou |
14/1(+0%) | (9) Lihou 14/1, Five wins from 15 runs last year, including this contest from 7 lb higher mark. Bit quiet on the AW of late but no surprise if he bounced back with a big run. Won this race off 7lb higher last year; in top form then though & he's been quiet of late. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (10/1 +0%) Mountain Peak |
10/1(+0%) | (2) Mountain Peak 10/1, Good record at Ascot, going close in 5f handicap there in September. Might come on for this. Returns on a good mark and with his yard going well; went close in the 2022 Dash; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (6/1 +57%) Match Play |
6/1(+57%) | (8) Match Play 6/1, In good order last summer, winning at Haydock, and presumably needed the run at Newcastle 7 weeks ago. Plenty of speed and suspect he's on a good mark. One to note under Murphy. Needs to leave last month's return behind him but booking of O Murphy offers hope of that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (14/1 -65%) Glory Fighter |
14/1(-65%) | (12) Glory Fighter 14/1, Best effort for a while when taking 5f Thirsk handicap in the mud a fortnight ago from one who went close next time. 5 lb rise within his reach and not dismissed on first run at Epsom. Made all at Thirsk two weeks ago (5f, heavy); more required at this level on faster ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (11/2 -22%) One Night Stand |
11/2(-22%) | (1) One Night Stand 11/2, Speedy sort who made all in 5f AW handicaps earlier this year. Not so good up in class the last twice. Fifth in last year's "Dash" here. In good form on AW this winter; ran well in last season's Dash here; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (11/1 -29%) Jojo Rabbit |
11/1(-29%) | (7) Jojo Rabbit 11/1, Notched up a fourth win at Wolverhampton in 5f handicap back from 5 months off 3 weeks ago, keeping on from Night On Earth. This is tougher. Won his last two starts, both at Wolverhampton, but this is a step up in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (10/1 +0%) Mondammej |
10/1(+0%) | (5) Mondammej 10/1, Fourth in a "Dash" here in his day but unreliable and a long time since his last win. On a losing run and he's been hit and miss this year; others appeal more for the win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) (20/1 -100%) Mick's Spirit |
20/1(-100%) | (11) Mick's Spirit 20/1, Bagged pair of 5f handicaps at Lingfield in February 9 days apart. Didn't last out from the front over 6f there last time and remains in form, although this is tougher on rare go on turf. In good form on AW but plenty to prove on a rare turf outing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
LIHOU might not have been at his best in recent starts, but David Evans' charge, who landed the corresponding event off a 7lb higher mark 12 months ago, could be revitalised by the return to this track. A high draw looks to be in his favour too, and he gets the nod ahead of Glory Fighter, who pulled well clear with the runner-up when on target at Thirsk a fortnight ago. Mountain Peak rounded off last season with a couple of improved efforts at Ascot and must be considered too.
This will be fast and furious and last year's winner LIHOU could be worth chancing to bounce back returned to turf. Paul Midgley's Glory Fighter and Match Play are both of firm interest also.
Moon Flight is of serious interest switched to turf but MOUNTAIN PEAK returns with his yard going well and he is preferred.

1st (7) (7/2 +13%) God's Own Getaway |
7/2(+13%) | (7) God's Own Getaway 7/2, Low-mileage 6-y-o who was back to form over hurdles when third at Market Rasen. Respected now going chasing for powerful yard. 0-5 over hurdles but was placed off today's mark last month; chasing debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 +44%) Hall Lane |
9/2(+44%) | (2) Hall Lane 9/2, Fair winning hurdler last term and made an encouraging start over fences when runner-up at Market Rasen in November. Failed to build on that next 2 starts but not taken lightly eased in class. Eased in grade after last month's respectable Newbury fifth; still unexposed over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (17/2 -55%) Will Sting |
17/2(-55%) | (4) Will Sting 17/2, Mixed record this season though latest second under this rider at Market Rasen was one of his better efforts and now 2 lb below last winning mark. Respected. Inconsistent since his win in early 2023 but has fighting chance if on a going day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (50/1 -52%) Valence D'aumont |
50/1(-52%) | (5) Valence D'aumont 50/1, Enhanced good strike rate over fences when landing a Newcastle handicap in December 2021 but well held all 4 starts this season after nearly 2 years off. Out of form since returning from long absence this season; revival needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (9/2 +44%) Star Flyer |
9/2(+44%) | (6) Star Flyer 9/2, Impressed with his jumping when C&D winner in February. Not in same form next 2 starts but not one to write off back at this venue. C&D winner in first-time cheekpieces in February; return to this track an obvious plus. |

|U| (3) (10/1 -233%) Foxey |
10/1(-233%) | (3) Foxey 10/1, Off the mark over hurdles in a selling handicap at Newton Abbot in October. Added to his tally when opening chase account at the second attempt in good style at Lingfield and quickly back to form when winning selling hurdle at Exeter last month. Of interest back in this sphere. Comfortable chase winner in the autumn; back over fences after selling hurdle win. |

|U| (9) (14/1 +58%) Pollyonesock |
14/1(+58%) | (9) Pollyonesock 14/1, Limited form in bumpers/hurdles and low-key start for this yard on handicap bow at Ludlow. Makes chase debut. Finished last over hurdles on stable/handicap debut; now switched to chasing. |

|PU| (1) (16/5 -42%) Spago |
16/5(-42%) | (1) Spago 16/5, Placed on all 3 runs over hurdles and better form switched to fences both starts in the autumn, third at Leicester last time. Drop back in trip should suit and remains unexposed in this sphere. Made promising start to his chasing career in the autumn; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (25/1 -25%) Rossbeigh Strand |
25/1(-25%) | (8) Rossbeigh Strand 25/1, Showed fair form initially over hurdles but has lost his way so plenty to prove ahead of chase debut (winning Irish pointer). Pulled up on both hurdling starts this season and a risky option on this chasing debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
FOXEY had little difficulty in regaining the winning thread at Exeter last month and stepping back up in trip could unlock further improvement. The return to fences may also benefit Olly Murphy's gelding and a fourth success of the season could be on the cards. The biggest threat may emerge from the returning Spago, who posted a solid third at Leicester in November, while chasing debutant God's Own Getaway isn't taken lightly either.
SPAGO has made an encouraging start to his chasing career and looks to have been found a good opening back from a break. Foxey and Will Sting head the dangers.
This can go to STAR FLYER, who was one of two to pull a long way of the others when winning in pretty good style over C&D in February.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TINGARRAN EXPRESS has obvious claims having won at Clonmel on Thursday, despite it being her first success in 21 starts. Although a seven-year-old, her recent form is strong with the winner of her February race subsequently placing at the dizzying heights of Grade 2-level. The selection is 1lb wrong under her 7lb penalty but contests a weak handicap. Cramers Valley has been running well in recent handicaps and being as yet somewhat unexposed, can continue to progress. Ella Rose reverts from fences and ran well over hurdles last November while three-time winner Definiteadare also reverts from chasing but makes his reappearance. Morepowertoya, which runs in first-time cheekpieces, should improve from his reappearance run but would prefer better ground. UK bumper-placed Cloughroe and Misty Milan, which represents an in-form yard, each contests their first handicaps.
TINGARRAN EXPRESS overcame a fairly hefty bump when finally off the mark at Clonmel on Thursday and hopes are high that she can quickly double up under a penalty. Cramers Valley shaped with promise at Naas when last seen and he's a threat, with Definiteadare another to note on his return to action.
Even with a 7lb penalty, TINGARRAN EXPRESS could be capable of following up her ready Clonmel success of five days ago.

May well do better. Engaged 1.52 Pontefract Monday. Pulled hard when fourth of six on Chelmsford debut; hood may help him settle. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
An appealing option on paper, the speedily-bred PIT BOSS, a full-brother to dual Group 2-placed sprinter Crispy Cat, is presented with a good opportunity to make a big impact on his racecourse debut. Foro Romano, a stablemate of the selection, was the subject of decent market support on his debut at Wolverhampton and can make this a good test with a step forward. Forever My Prince is another newcomer to monitor closely in the betting.
SABRIMENTO wasn't beaten far on debut at Newmarket last week, and should take a decent step forword. George Boughey fields 2, newcomer Pit Boss and once-raced Foro Romano, and market clues should help split them.
Eve Johnson Houghton has made a cracking start to the season with 2yos first time out so FOREVER MY PRINCE is given the vote.

1st (2) (9/1 +18%) Bellum Justum |
9/1(+18%) | (2) Bellum Justum 9/1, Sea The Stars colt who got off the mark at the fourth attempt in 17-runner Newmarket maiden. Type to make a better 3-y-o (will stay) but others have achieved more. Won Newmarket maiden last September on fourth start; improvement possible, but necessary. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (10/1 -67%) Defiance |
10/1(-67%) | (5) Defiance 10/1, Camelot colt who was value for extra when making a successful debut in 9-runner maiden at Sandown. Unable to land a blow in the Royal Lodge at Newmarket next time but it was still a step up on form. Will stay. Considerable promise over 1m on both 2yo starts; could relish the step up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (4/5 +42%) Chief Little Rock |
4/5(+42%) | (4) Chief Little Rock 4/5, Confirmed debut promise when getting up close home in 1m maiden at Leopardstown and further progress when runner-up in Beresford Stakes at the Curragh (1m) and Autumn Stakes at Newmarket next 2 starts. Step up in trip will suit on return and sets the standard. Runner-up in two 1m Group races last autumn; plenty to like about his claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/2 -57%) Arabic Legend |
11/2(-57%) | (1) Arabic Legend 11/2, Dubawi colt who made a winning debut in a 7f novice on the July Course. Took a big step forward despite still looking green when second to a promising sort in a listed event at Salisbury. Too bad to be true in Autumn Stakes at Newmarket final start and has since left Andrew Balding. Soft ground may not have suited when last seen; his previous Listed second reads well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (4/1 -20%) Feigning Madness |
4/1(-20%) | (6) Feigning Madness 4/1, Overcame inexperience to make a winning debut at Newbury and showed useful form when defying a penalty in what is traditionally a strong novice at Newmarket in October, again getting up close home. Potentially a smart middle-distance prospect. 2-2 last year (novices); others have better form; could have plenty more left in the tank. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (100/1 -150%) Bur Dubai |
100/1(-150%) | (3) Bur Dubai 100/1, Just fair form in 3 AW maidens (trained by Alice Haynes first 2 starts) and this is a very difficult ask. Has shown ability on his three starts (1m/8.6f, AW) but bundles of improvement is needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
A race which could throw up some clues for this year's Derby, and preference is for DEFIANCE. Having won on his debut at Sandown, the son of Camelot was far from disgraced in the Royal Lodge next time. He's bred to appreciate this longer trip and should be stronger as a three-year-old. Chief Little Rock chased home subsequent Futurity winner Ancient Wisdom in the Autumn Stakes when last seen and must be feared on that evidence, while Feigning Madness, who bids to maintain his unbeaten record, heads the remainder.
CHIEF LITTLE ROCK isn't entered for the Derby but he sets a high standard for this race having finished second in the Beresford Stakes at the Curragh and Autumn Stakes at Newmarket. Feigning Madness has the makings of a smart middle-distance performer so rates a big threat, while Arabic Legend is worth another chance for his new yard.
This could go to ARABIC LEGEND, who kept on well for a Listed second over 1m at Salisbury last August, form that has worked out well.

8/1(+20%) | (7) Taste The Fear 8/1, Fairly useful winning chaser last season and stepped up on his reappearance when third at Hereford (20.9f, good to soft) in January. Poor twice since, though. Stronger headgear reached for. Not firing on all cylinders this season; headgear switched in bid to perk him up. |

11/4(+21%) | (5) Post Chaise 11/4, Resumed winning ways in a change of headgear in 3m amateurs' handicap chase at Market Rasen last month, quickening clear after 2 out and well on top finish. Looks an improved model and can figure again. Won fairly comfortably in first-time blinkers last month and is now 4-9 over fences. |

13/2(+0%) | (12) Tom Creen 13/2, Good record at Sedgefield (successful twice there in the autumn) and decent placed efforts all 3 starts since, including over C&D latest. 6th (3) (22/1 -120%) Oscar Robertson |
22/1(-120%) | (3) Oscar Robertson 22/1, Scored at Wetherby in 2021 for Tom George but has become disappointing and fared no better in first-time cheekpieces behind Port Chaise at Market Rasen latest. 7th (2) (25/1 -108%) Tim Pat |
25/1(-108%) | (2) Tim Pat 25/1, Completed a hat-trick in early-2022 but without a win since and he's been struggling for form over both sets of obstacles. Very well handicapped if reviving after wind op. Useful chaser at his best but has regressed this season; had wind op since latest run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (14) (9/1 -50%) Shiroccosmagicbaby |
9/1(-50%) | (14) Shiroccosmagicbaby 9/1, Winning Irish pointer very lightly raced under Rules and shaped with plenty of encouragement tried tongue tied for her debut over fences after 4 months off at Ffos Las recently, the lack of an outing seeming to tell only late on. Can do better up in trip now. Lightly raced 7yo mare; moves up in trip after last month's quite promising chase debut. |

9th (15) (16/1 +36%) Daranova |
16/1(+36%) | (15) Daranova 16/1, Gained two 3m chase wins at Bangor in May 2022 but largely struggled since. Has plummeted down the weights. Generally very disappointing since his quick double at Bangor in May 2022; revival needed. |

|PU| (9) (6/1 +50%) Roger Rarebit |
6/1(+50%) | (9) Roger Rarebit 6/1, Made a winning seasonal/chase debut at Uttoxeter (20f, heavy) in November and back to form after 4 months off when third in gruelling conditions at Exeter. Remains unexposed over fences and one to note back on better ground. Comfortable winner on chasing debut and has excuses for both subsequent defeats. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (8/1 -33%) Shot Boii |
8/1(-33%) | (6) Shot Boii 8/1, Four-time winner over hurdles and scored at the third attempt in handicap chases at Hereford (25.2f) in January. Quickly bounced back from a lesser effort when runner-up at Chepstow (30.6f) last time and he could be thereabouts once more. Ran well in Chepstow marathon last month and has each-way claims here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (14/1 -40%) Lermoos Legend |
14/1(-40%) | (4) Lermoos Legend 14/1, Won 23f handicap chase at Worcester in July. Little impact back from 5 months off at Chepstow 5 weeks ago but could do better with that under his belt. Pulled up on heavy ground, after a layoff, but conditions will be more to his liking here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (50/1 -150%) Presenting Jeremy |
50/1(-150%) | (8) Presenting Jeremy 50/1, Made winning Rules debut in a Worcester novice hurdle in spring 2021. Better for chase debut when third over C&D final outing last term but well held both starts for new yard this season having been sold out of Dan Skelton's yard for only £5,500 in May. Headgear on. 0-4 over fences but placed over C&D; getting back on decent ground might aid his cause. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The application of first-time blinkers saw a career-best performance from POST CHAISE, who jumped his rivals into the ground when landing the spoils at Market Rasen in March. The seven-year-old is taken to make light work of a 6lb rise in the handicap. Shiroccosmagicbaby made a respectable chase debut when finishing third at Ffos Las and Christian Williams' inmate is feared most now upped in distance, ahead of Tom Creen.
POST CHAISE looks an improved model and is taken to defy a career-high mark for his in-form stable. Shiroccosmagicbaby is interesting up in trip after an encouraging start over fences at Ffos Las. Tom Creen and Shot Boii are also considered.
Another chance is given to ROGER RAREBIT, who found 3m on heavy ground too taxing on his latest outing but still has potential.

9/2(-35%) | (8) Picture Of You 9/2, Ran to a similar level as previously over hurdles when fourth of 18 in maiden at Limerick (16f, heavy) 119 days ago. Makes handicap debut and remains open to improvement. Touched off at Cork in November on second of three maiden runs; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (28/1 -40%) Simpletwistoffaith |
28/1(-40%) | (9) Simpletwistoffaith 28/1, Fair maiden hurdler who possibly needed the run after 4 months off when seventh of 14 in novice hurdle at Limerick (16f, heavy) 154 days ago. Makes handicap debut. One placed effort in eight maidens, that coming when second at Kilbeggan last June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) (7/2 +46%) Pacini |
7/2(+46%) | (7) Pacini 7/2, Winner at Fairyhouse in December and not disgraced in first-time blinkers when seventh of 16 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, heavy) 23 days ago. Useful form in juvenile hurdles; didn't get home over 2m4f on h'cap debut at Fairyhouse. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SPLASHING OUT was out-battled by the narrow winner at Limerick and the application of a first-time visor might help. She bounced back from a disappointing February run in last month's contest, should compete from her rating and is suited by testing ground. The Busy Fool is consistent and having run well in three maiden hurdles, should run well on handicap debut. Similarly Picture Of You debuts in handicaps having run well in three maiden hurdles last November/December while stablemate Kudasheva was soundly held running in a first-time tongue-tie on handicap debut last November. Linden Arden has returned to his previous trainer since a disappointing run recently and his best form is over longer distances. Pacini was second at Grade 3 level last February, with the winner subsequently scoring at Grade 2 level but was well held in first-time blinkers (which are again applied) on recent handicap debut.
PICTURE OF YOU has shaped with promise on all 3 hurdle starts and remains open to improvement now heading into a handicap, so she's an appealing candidate. Splashing Out and The Busy Fool are a pair of credible rivals.
Six handicap debutants and one of them, THE BUSY FOOL (nap), could be well treated after three placed efforts in maiden

1st (4) (7/1 +22%) Prometeo |
7/1(+22%) | (4) Prometeo 7/1, Creditable seventh of 14 in handicap at Chelmsford City (10f, 16/1) 25 days ago, left with lot to do. Likely to do better with that under his belt. Cheekpieces removed. Capable of improving on handicap debut effort and he ran well here as a 2yo. |

2nd (8) (15/2 +6%) Cambria Legend |
15/2(+6%) | (8) Cambria Legend 15/2, Thrice-raced maiden. 14/1, fifth of 8 in novice event at Kempton (10f) 22 days ago, slowly away. Makes handicap debut and has to prove stamina for this far. Modest so far but this well-bred sort could be seen in a better light off this low a mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (9/2 +36%) Show Me A Hero |
9/2(+36%) | (10) Show Me A Hero 9/2, Twelfth of 13 in novice event at Kempton (7f, 13/2) 27 days ago. Significantly up in trip for handicap debut. Spencer booked for handicap debut on this 3f rise in distance; one to note in the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) (12/1 -33%) Spanish Vega |
12/1(-33%) | (9) Spanish Vega 12/1, Fifth of 10 in maiden at Kempton (8f, 125/1) 20 days ago, not knocked about. Step up in trip will suit on handicap debut so he's a very likely improver. Not suited by how the race developed when never dangerous at Kempton; handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (6/1 -20%) Lucentio |
6/1(-20%) | (12) Lucentio 6/1, Sixth of 9 in novice event at Lingfield (8f, AW, 9/2) 15 days ago. Bred to stay this far and he's a definite threat on his debut form now handicapping for leading yard. Gosden handicap debutant who never looked happy on Lingfield's AW circuit two weeks ago. |

6th (5) (5/1 +23%) Torrent |
5/1(+23%) | (5) Torrent 5/1, Right back to form when fifth of 6 in handicap (11/1) at Kempton (11f) 13 days ago, though he did enjoy the run of the race. Eased 3 lb back on turf. Beating only one home in two handicaps isn't a shining advertisement for his chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) (11/2 +31%) Daymer Bay |
11/2(+31%) | (2) Daymer Bay 11/2, Respectable eighth of 16 in the face of a stiff task at York (7f, heavy, 66/1), suited by strong pace. Off 6 months. Significantly up in trip. Makes handicap debut having been gelded. Beaten six times last year (6f-1m) but was consistent; gelded ahead of handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (40/1 -100%) Albert Lasker |
40/1(-100%) | (11) Albert Lasker 40/1, Sixth of 9 in maiden at Southwell (8.1f, 10/1). Off 91 days. Up in trip. Makes handicap debut and opening mark demands more. Gelded in January and could show the benefit of that now sent into handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (20/1 -67%) Between Me And U |
20/1(-67%) | (3) Between Me And U 20/1, Below form fifth of 9 in nursery at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy, 5/1), unable to sustain effort. Off 6 months. Up in trip and he needs to rase his game. Nursery winner last season but beaten in six other races; might be exposed now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (22/1 -175%) Valadero |
22/1(-175%) | (7) Valadero 22/1, First run since leaving George Boughey when good third of 8 in handicap (20/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 39 days ago. Looks competitive on form from the same mark upped in trip. Nine-race maiden but placed again on his debut for this yard at Wolverhampton (9.4f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (9/1 -157%) Night Safari |
9/1(-157%) | (6) Night Safari 9/1, Settled better and produced a career best when winning 7-runner handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 32 days ago. Merits serious consideration back on turf. Strong in the finish to win over this far at Lingfield and the second has run well since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Running from the foot of the weights, LUCENTIO is an appealing option on his handicap debut for a top yard. The son of Too Darn Hot, who is a half-brother to a winner over this trip, looked in need of the run on his seasonal debut at Kempton 15 days ago and could be a different proposition on his second start after wind surgery. Lingfield winner Night Safari is an obvious threat back on turf off 6lb higher. Torrent completes the shortlist.
This looks open but LUCENTIO has been handed a workable opening mark based on the level he achieved on debut and is certainly in the right hands to bounce back tackling a new trip. He gets the nod in favour of Night Safari, with Spanish Vega a potential big improver now handicapping.
The Gosden handicap debutant LUCENTIO was all at sea on Lingfield's AW circuit last time and now returns to the scene of his best run.

1st (6) (5/2 +44%) Crystal Delight |
5/2(+44%) | (6) Crystal Delight 5/2, Plenty of creditable efforts in handicaps last year for the now-retired William Jarvis. Suspect he returns on a workable mark and 1 of 2 interesting runners for stable. Runner-up on final start last year; new trainer among the winners; could be a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (5/1 -50%) Ziggy |
5/1(-50%) | (5) Ziggy 5/1, Struck twice in 2022 and was running well on AW when last seen in January 2023. Interesting if ready to roll for in-form yard (has gone well fresh). Returns from an absence but with his trainer among the winners, and he's on a handy mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (8/1 -7%) Silent Film |
8/1(-7%) | (2) Silent Film 8/1, Won in Hungary in September and fine run in Dubai (9f) next time. Not seen to best effect there latest and interesting up in trip under Ryan Moore having run well here in his younger days. Below par at Meydan in February when last seen, but went close there in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (14/1 -155%) Felix |
14/1(-155%) | (3) Felix 14/1, Ran well in first-time blinkers when second at Wolverhampton (9.5f) in February, only worn down late on by a thriving sort. Not won for a while but one to note back on turf under Murphy. Two-time turf winner who went very close on AW last time; could be firmly involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/2 +18%) Dual Identity |
9/2(+18%) | (4) Dual Identity 9/2, Contested plenty of the big handicaps last term and back to winning ways with a wide-margin success at Sandown over this trip in September. Has gone well fresh. Only sixth in this last year but good win at Sandown in September; a possible on comeback. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (9/4 +18%) Qitaal |
9/4(+18%) | (7) Qitaal 9/4, Rejoined former yard for just 4,000 gns and proved that all ability is retained to make a winning handicap debut at Doncaster after almost 2 years off, going with zest under this rider. Remains low mileage and respected up 6 lb. Defied huge absence to win readily at Doncaster and a 6lb rise may not stop him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (80/1 -264%) Western Soldier |
80/1(-264%) | (1) Western Soldier 80/1, Useful performer in Germany for Peter Schiergen at his best (completed 5-timer in handicaps in late-2022). Fair form over hurdles here, although no impact in handicaps last 3 starts. Starts out for new yard with work to do. Went very close in German Group 3 last April; has had hurdling stint; may be best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
In what looks a tricky puzzle to solve, only a tentative vote can go to SILENT FILM. Ian Williams' gelding finished a good second at Meydan in January but it was a different story the following month when he finished down the field at the same venue. However, the son of New Approach could emulate his father and improve for a step up to 1m2f, with the booking of Ryan Moore also a big positive. Felix was narrowly denied at Wolverhampton last time out and must be of interest back on turf, while Qitaal, who defied a lengthy absence to score at Doncaster, can mount another stern challenge off 6lb higher.
QITAAL made a successful return after nearly 2 years off for the Johnston stable at Doncaster and with that form having a solid look to it he could be able to defy a 6 lb rise in this stronger race if building on that. Silent Film is interesting under Ryan Moore, while Harry Eustace has an interesting pair in Ziggy and Crystal Delight.
Preference is for CRYSTAL DELIGHT, who was a good second last September on his penultimate run for the now-retired William Jarvis.

Second in Hexham maiden on stable debut but a well-beaten outsider in two handicaps since. |

Having run out a ready winner at Exeter on Friday, CAPTAIN WALLACE proved a different proposition on faster ground conditions. The gelded son of Milan looks more than capable of defying a 7lb penalty and a quick turnaround may be the only thing that stands in his way. Mermaids Cave is an intriguing contender on her stable bow for James Owen and an improved bid wouldn't be a surprise, while first-time cheekpieces could get Mountain Pass travelling with more verve.
CAPTAIN WALLACE opened his account in ready fashion at Exeter last week and, with more to come, he's the percentage call to follow up under a penalty. Tigger remains capable of better now switched to a handicap, with Saint Bibiana completing the shortlist following a good second over C&D recently.
It's very easy to see the appeal of CAPTAIN WALLACE, who posted a much improved performance to win by 10l at Exeter on Friday.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The runner-up, third, fifth, sixth and seventh-placed horses from a recent same-distance Cork race reoppose and NOW IS THE HOUR might again lead them home, and win today. A Grade 2 Haydock winner over three-miles last February, he nonetheless ran well when dropped in distance on chase debut at Cork (where he conceded 5lb to the winner) and a reproduction would give him every chance. Third-placed Fortunedefortunata has seven and a half lengths to find on that form while Mister Wilson finished fifth) and Cosmic Blizzard (sixth) should struggle. An Epic Song has a marked left-jumping tendency and disappointed when finishing seventh at Cork. Runner-up to famous Langer Dan in the 2023 Coral Cup, he is open to vast improvement going this direction but remains a work-in-progress and would prefer further. Capable Pinkerton disappointed at Thurles in February but had previously run well in two November chases. Summer Melody makes his chase debut.
NOW IS THE HOUR was useful over hurdles and showed plenty of encouragement when runner-up at Cork on chasing debut so, while he's likely to be suited by a return to further, he should have enough to get away with it. Pinkerton has actually achieved the most over fences to this point, so he's feared along with Fortunedefortunata.
A Grade 2-winning hurdler over 3m, NOW IS THE HOUR wants further but had four of these behind over this trip on chase debut at Cork

50/1(+0%) | (7) Emerald City 50/1, Thrice-raced gelding. Hooded for 1st time, eighth of 11 in minor event at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 80/1) 10 days ago. Well held in his first three races and hasn't been looking straightforward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (100/1 -52%) Time Tested |
100/1(-52%) | (5) Time Tested 100/1, Once-raced colt. 18/1, eighth of 11 in maiden at Southwell (8.1f) on debut 33 days ago, slowly away. 18-1 and always in rear on last month's 1m debut at Southwell; limited appeal after that. |

8th (8) (50/1 -52%) Shy Nala |
50/1(-52%) | (8) Shy Nala 50/1, Postponed filly. Half-sister to several winners, including useful winner up to 1m Shyron and useful 6f-1m winner Farhh To Shy. Dam 2-y-o 5.5f/6f winner. Eighth foal; half-sister to seven winners; stable's newcomers are usually best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
YAAJOOZ posted solid efforts in defeat in handicap company at Wolverhampton and Southwell last month. This appears to be a suitable opportunity for George Boughey's inmate to open his account. The biggest threat may emerge from the returning Lennox, who ran with more encouragement when third at Dunstall Park in November, while any market support for newcomer Fifty Nifty, a half-brother to Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint winner Obviously, would be interesting.
LENNOX remains open to improvement after only 2 encouraging runs and can improve past Yaajooz. Corrales can do better on his third run, also.
Yaajooz could be vulnerable to something with potential and LENNOX most definitely falls into that category.

1st (6) (5/2 +38%) Champagne Piaff |
5/2(+38%) | (6) Champagne Piaff 5/2, Progressed into a useful handicapper at 3 yrs, winning at Windsor and over this C&D. Came from much further back than the prominently-ridden pair that beat him when returning from a 30-month absence at Bath (10.2f, heavy) recently and he's of strong interest back here with Ryan Moore booked. Course winner who returned from mammoth absence with creditable third at Bath recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (40/1 -82%) Think First |
40/1(-82%) | (4) Think First 40/1, Dual AW winner for James Tate at 2 yrs but little to shout about last season and he didn't knuckle down particularly well when narrowly outpointed in a 3-runner affair on his hurdles debut/first run for new yard at Doncaster in November. Others preferred. Some tough assignments during last year's 3yo season (0-6); may be best watched on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (9/1 -6%) Duke Of Verona |
9/1(-6%) | (10) Duke Of Verona 9/1, Made a winning reappearance last season at Leicester but seen out just once thereafter (well held at Newmarket) and he's entitled to need the run starting out for new connections on the back of an 11-month absence. Returns from absence but with new yard among winners and just 1lb above last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (22/1 -57%) There's The Door |
22/1(-57%) | (3) There's The Door 22/1, Bagged 1¼m handicaps at Doncaster and Goodwood last season, both on heavy going. Acts on good/fast ground, too, and this mark is probably within reach but she'll need to step up on her low-key reappearance display if she's to take this. Down the field on reappearance but may have needed the run; not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (14/1 -65%) Saratoga Gold |
14/1(-65%) | (7) Saratoga Gold 14/1, Back-to-back winner of C&D handicaps in 2022 and added to his tally with a wide-margin success at Kempton last July. Seemed to lose his way thereafter, though, and needs to bounce back on this debut for new connections. Out of form at end of last term but is on his last winning mark and 2-2 here; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (22/1 -214%) Vaynor |
22/1(-214%) | (11) Vaynor 22/1, Regained the winning thread over this trip at Thirsk in September but started and ended that campaign with poor efforts. Likely to find a few too good. Won at Thirsk last September on penultimate start and not ruled out on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (5/1 +50%) Splendent |
5/1(+50%) | (8) Splendent 5/1, Paid his way in 2023, landing handicaps at Windsor and Newbury before notching third success of that campaign in Hungary. Down the field on recent reappearance upped to 2m at Kempton but will be sharper now and merits respect back at his optimum trip. Won 3 times last year and could improve for recent reappearance run; possible contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (8/1 -33%) Hope You Can Run |
8/1(-33%) | (9) Hope You Can Run 8/1, Held form well in the first half of last season, deservedly getting his head back in front at Catterick when last seen in July (gelded since). Nine-month absence to overcome but he's one to consider all the same. Absent since last July but won in good style back then and could continue to progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) (28/1 -133%) Wynter Wildes |
28/1(-133%) | (2) Wynter Wildes 28/1, Successful 3 times during a productive 2023 campaign. Also finished a fine third in an AW listed event at Lingfield in November but the downside was that her mark took a significant hit for that and she was predictably held off this revised mark back in handicap company next time. Went up the weights after Listed third but has a progressive profile; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (25/1 -14%) Green Team |
25/1(-14%) | (12) Green Team 25/1, Winner of a novice event at Ayr during 2-y-o campaign for Kevin Ryan but it's been a struggle since, ending last season with a couple of heavy defeats (gelded since). Best to look elsewhere. Down in the weights and gelded since last seen, but struggled to get competitive last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) (7/2 +36%) The Goat |
7/2(+36%) | (5) The Goat 7/2, Big step forward when powering clear of his rivals to make a winning handicap debut at Glorious Goodwood (1½m, heavy) last summer. However, he proved pretty disappointing in 3 subsequent starts and remains 10 lb above his Goodwood mark. Gelded. Bolted up at Glorious Goodwood; three lesser runs followed but retains potential; gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) (11/1 +21%) Western Stars |
11/1(+21%) | (13) Western Stars 11/1, Enjoyed a busy and productive second-half of 2023, winning 3 times between September and December. Should strip fitter following his reappearance spin on the AW at Lingfield and he's not without each-way hope. Did well after joining this yard last August and could still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (1) (28/1 -100%) Greysful Storm |
28/1(-100%) | (1) Greysful Storm 28/1, Emphatic winner of a big-field Newbury handicap last spring and runner-up on 3 occasions thereafter, albeit those placed efforts were interspersed with some not-so-good performances. Could go well if ready to roll but some of these may ultimately prove to be better treated. Absent since tailed off in AW Listed race last November but progressive on turf previously. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Champagne Piaff returned from an absence of over two years when third at Bath earlier in the month and warrants plenty of respect off the same mark with Ryan Moore booked. That said, it remains to be seen whether he can handle such a quick turnaround and the vote goes to HOPE YOU CAN RUN. The four-year-old ran with credit behind some useful types before winning at Catterick in July last year and a gelding operation might yield further improvement. There's The Door won off a 2lb lower mark at Goodwood in August and is a player following her return effort at Doncaster.
It's likely that CHAMPAGNE PIAFF will be well found in the market with Ryan Moore booked on the back of an encouraging return from a monster absence at Bath. However, that's just about the only negative mark against this lightly-raced 6-y-o, who was a winner here off this mark on his sole previous visit in September 2021 and he shaped at Bath as though this step back up in trip would be ideal. Splendent and Hope You Can Run are put forward as the main dangers given doubts surrounding The Goat.
There are positives factors surrounding SARATOGA GOLD on his first run for Kevin Frost, and he's the pick ahead of Western Stars.

7/1(+50%) | (5) Solomon Coop 7/1, Twice-raced colt. Showed more than on debut when sixth of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (8f, 18/1). Off 179 days. Prominent for a long way over 1m at Dundalk, should improve but may need a handicap mark. |

8/15(+34%) | (9) Miss Tapley 8/15, Made an encouraging start to her career when second of 5 in maiden at Galway (7.1f, good to soft, 7/1) on debut. Off 7 months. Should improve and looks the one to beat. Chased home a smart filly at Galway last September on debut, third won her next start. |

4/1(+27%) | (8) It'sonlyjustbegun 4/1, Ran to a fair level when sixth of 12 in maiden at Leopardstown (8f, heavy) on debut 16 days ago. Should improve. Can be expected to show the benefit of an initial outing in a 1m maiden at Leopardstown. |

200/1(-33%) | (6) Storm Tracker 200/1, 100/1, eleventh of 13 in minor event at Dundalk (7f) on debut. Off 139 days. First run for yard after leaving Gavin Patrick Cromwell. Has been gelded. Never in contention at Dundalk on his only start for Gavin Cromwell; unlikely to feature. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MISS TAPLEY looks the one to beat here on her return to action. The Phoenix Of Spain filly was a promising second at Galway on her sole outing last season September and that form looks strong. The winner, Tannola, was runner-up in two hot maidens prior to her success while the third horse, Vassula Ryden, went on to win a Navan maiden in good style. The 77-rated Gandolfo is more exposed but is entitled to run well. It'sonlyjustbegun showed promise when sixth in a Leopardstown maiden 16 days ago on her debut and is a potential improver.
MISS TAPLEY made a promising start to her career when second at Galway in September and this looks a good opportunity for her to go one better with improvement forthcoming. Gandolfo would have claims if bouncing back from a poor showing at Naas on his final 2-y-o outing, while It'sonlyjustbegun shaped with some encouragement on her recent debut at Leopardstown and ought to improve.
The experienced Gandolfo merits respect but he is not certain to cope with the less-exposed MISS TAPLEY, second on debut at Galway

200/1(-203%) | (6) Bateau Bay 200/1, Modest at best on Flat and has shown little in handicaps for current yard. Easily passed over on hurdle debut. Struggled to get competitive off basement marks on the AW during the winter; hurdle debut. |

|PU| (14) (200/1 -203%) Kilberry |
200/1(-203%) | (14) Kilberry 200/1, Looks one for the longer term. Struggled when 100-1 for last month's hurdle debut at Taunton (2m); moves up in trip here. |

The Lord Maid was quite taking when opening her account in a Clonmel maiden hurdle in February and she looks the type who could progress now under the tutelage of Tom Lacey. However, RIALANNAH, who finishing a close-up second at Market Rasen last month, receives 7lb from the six-year-old, and that weight difference could prove key. Floating Line is entitled to build on her hurdles bow fourth at Kempton in November and she completes the shortlist.
THE LORD MAID created a good impression when winning easily on her hurdling debut at Clonmel in February and, with more to come back up in trip for her new yard, she's fancied to defy a penalty. Floating Line and Rialannah head the dangers in that order.
Preference is for RIALANNAH, who stuck to her task well when second at Market Rasen last month and probably still has more to offer.

Brought down 2 out (struggling at the time) in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (24.3f, soft, 15/2) 80 days ago. Point winner who should prove just as good over fences. 11/2(-120%) | (1) So Des Flos 11/2, Career best when winning 8-runner lady riders' handicap chase (11/1) at Fairyhouse (21.6f, heavy) 24 days ago, holding on gamely. Bit more on his plate under penalty. Raised 6lb for last win but the runner-up since finished 4th in the Scottish National. |

5th (4) (11/8 +61%) Nine Graces |
11/8(+61%) | (4) Nine Graces 11/8, Useful hurdler. Below form thirteenth of 22 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (24.3f, soft, 10/1) 80 days ago. Makes chase debut and should take to fences. Should be competitive with her sex allowance on chasing debut if jumping soundly. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SUMMER TIDE was a surprise winner on seasonal reappearance last month and indeed reverts to a more favourable distance. He was rated just 111 over hurdles but his chase form is quite useful, being beaten by subsequent Kerry National winner Desertmore House last July and, at Cork last month, dfeated a previous Grade 2 winner into second. So Des Flos defeated the recent Scottish National-fourth to win at Fairyhouse last month and while he would ideally prefer a slightly longer distance, has claims despite conceding weight. Music Of Tara was well beaten when brought down at Leopardstown in February and while she had previously shown good form and has point-to-point experience, faces a tough task on chase debut. Dual hurdle winner Nine Graces is rated 128 in that sphere but was also well held in that Leopardstown race and makes her own chase debut. Varna Gold returned from 640 days off at Cork last month and has plenty on his plate on chase debut.
SUMMER TIDE made a taking return when winning easily at Cork and can go in again back up in trip. Useful hurdler Nine Graces could be the danger on her chase debut.
Having posted a career-best when taking a 2m Cork beginners' on comeback, SUMMER TIDE will take beating today.

LUNARIO posted his best effort of the year when runner-up at Thirsk earlier this month. First-time blinkers could be just the aid that enable the four-year-old to open his account and is taken to get the better of fellow in-form rival Dion Baker. The five-year-old recently finished second over 6f at this venue and a return to a mile shouldn't hamper his bid. Lunanera lurks on an attractive mark and he's also noted at this level.
Having rattled off a hat-trick on the AW during the winter, CHARLATAN has been given a break and is fancied to pick up where he left off switched to turf. Martini Nights is a fascinating contender upped to 1m, with Dion Baker completing the shortlist.
This has a wide open look to it. The tentative suggestion is ANGLO SAXSON who hit the ground after a similar break here last May.

Playtime |
(7) (4/1 +0%)4/1(+0%) | (7) Playtime 4/1, Much better for debut when second at Goodwood, though left behind by the winner. Gelded after. More needed again. Runner-up on second start last August; more needed but stable has a fine record in this. |

1st (4) (8/1 +0%) Into Battle |
8/1(+0%) | (4) Into Battle 8/1, Left debut run well behind to win 14-runner maiden (7/1) at Kempton (8f) in November. However, that was just an ordinary race so is opposable under a penalty. Won on the Kempton AW last November; probably needs a bit more to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8/13 +55%) Midair |
8/13(+55%) | (6) Midair 8/13, Left debut behind when second of 9 in maiden at Goodwood, suited by increase in trip. Unable to land the odds at Kempton since but was only just reeled in. Surely only a matter of time before he goes one better. Runner-up in his last two starts last autumn; major player if returning in the same form. |

3rd (3) (6/4 -20%) Involvement |
6/4(-20%) | (3) Involvement 6/4, Impressive when making a winning debut in 6-runner maiden at Redcar (7f, good to firm) in September. Went close to defying a penalty at Newcastle next time and remains a useful prospect. First and second in two starts last year; longer trip should suit; high on the list. |

4th (8) (250/1 -25%) Dwynwen |
250/1(-25%) | (8) Dwynwen 250/1, Well held in novice event at Newmarket and maiden at Lingfield 5 months apart. Huge prices, has shown nothing in two starts over 7f/1m five months apart. |

Dam, US 8.5f/9f winner, half-sister to Canadian Grade 3 9f-11f winner Raylene, out of 2-y-o 5f/6f winner Petite Princess. 1,500gns yearling; best watched unless market suggests otherwise. |

7th (1) (150/1 -50%) Hill Spirit |
150/1(-50%) | (1) Hill Spirit 150/1, Fair winner at 16f over hurdles but well held both starts on the Flat this month. Has failed to beat a rival in two Flat starts on the Kempton AW. |

|U| (5) (100/1 -52%) Card Shark |
100/1(-52%) | (5) Card Shark 100/1, Modest form in a pair of AW maidens, leaving Johnny Murtagh after debut. Out of the frame in both starts and beat only one home on stable debut at Kempton. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Involvement sets a decent standard based on his Redcar debut success and his Newcastle second in November. Bred to improve for a step up in trip, the son of Lope De Vega will need to settle better than on his first couple of starts and it may be a decent sign that the hood isn't being used on this occasion. Midair commands plenty of respect on what he achieved as a juvenile, but a chance is taken on PLAYTIME. His Goodwood second was a decent effort, having chased home a rival who subsequently performed well in Listed company, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him control proceedings on the front end.
This looks between MIDAIR and Involvement, who both appeal as useful prospects. The former receives 6 lb from penalised-winner Involvement so that may prove decisive. Playtime is best of the rest.
Preference is for INVOLVEMENT who showed plenty of promise in both outings over 7f last year. There is probably more to come from him.

5/2(-81%) | (1) Norwalk Havoc 5/2, Promising individual. 10/1, left debut form well behind won 6-runner maiden at Leopardstown (8f, heavy) 13 days ago, cosily. More to come and should take all the beating. Won comfortably over 1m at Leopardstown and hard to know how good he is. |

2nd (4) (10/3 +26%) Shelaka |
10/3(+26%) | (4) Shelaka 10/3, One win from 2 runs last year. 7/2, 18½ lengths last of 6 to Opera Singer in Flame of Tara Stakes at the Curragh (8f, good). Off 8 months. Remains with potential back in calmer waters. Maiden winner before struggling in a Group 3; returns with her yard quiet. |

3rd (3) (20/1 -122%) Ribchestina |
20/1(-122%) | (3) Ribchestina 20/1, Thrice-raced winner. One win from 3 runs last year. First run since leaving P. Twomey when 22¼ lengths sixth of 7 to Nemonte in minor event (10/3) at Roscommon (7.4f, good to soft). Off 8 months. Not sure what happened the last time but major player on her initial efforts. |

4th (5) (5/2 +38%) Vassula Ryden |
5/2(+38%) | (5) Vassula Ryden 5/2, Won 15-runner maiden at Navan (5.8f, heavy, 11/8), driven clear. Off 6 months. Back up in trip. Visor on 1st time. Should improve further and merits plenty of respect. It was over 5.5f that she got off the mark but kicked off at this trip; clearly useful. |

5th (2) (11/4 +63%) Nemonte |
11/4(+63%) | (2) Nemonte 11/4, Fairly useful filly. Two wins from 6 runs last year. Creditable 5½ lengths sixth of 14 to Mountain Bear in listed race at Dundalk (7f, 40/1). Off 6 months. Yard having good spell. The most experienced of these after six starts and has won twice. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A win for Miss Tapley in the opener would be a boost to the form of VASSULA RYDEN. Willie McCreery's filly was a place behind that rival when the pair were second and third to Tannola on debut at Galway last September. Vassula Ryden went on to take a Navan maiden in good style subsequently and this looks a nice stepping stone. It's interesting that she's fitted with a visor on her return having been described as a lazy type last season. Norwalk Havoc comes into this with a recent win under his belt and looks the danger. Shelaka disappointed on her second outing last season behind Opera Singer in Group 3 company. She may be capable of better.
NORWALK HAVOC has the best form, is open to more improvement, and has a fitness edge over his main market rivals, so he looks a solid proposition. Vassula Ryden and Shelaka are a couple of promising fillies that should make better 3yos, so they're the chief dangers.
A tight race with not a lot between them on peak RPRs. NORWALK HAVOC looked a horse to follow when winning at Leopardstown.

4/1(+60%) | (5) High Treason 4/1, Placed in 2 bumpers last spring and returned from wind surgery to make it third time lucky over hurdles in 19f Fontwell novice in February. Highly tried on handicap debut at Sandown and while this represents a drop in class, others make more appeal on balance. Merely midfield on handicap debut at Sandown but in hot race; not discounted. |

2nd (7) (17/2 +15%) Nothin To Ask |
17/2(+15%) | (7) Nothin To Ask 17/2, Hit the ground running over fences last term, bagging handicaps at Chepstow and Doncaster. No show 3 starts so far this season but has undergone wind op and resumes in this sphere on a potentially handy mark, so there is cause for optimism. Has struggled over fences this season but a wind op may prompt a revival; attractive mark. |

33/1(+34%) | (9) Elham Valley 33/1, Landed Stratford seller in September for Fergal O'Brien but well held all 3 subsequent starts for John Cornwall. Opposable back up in trip on first run for another new yard. Unable to threaten last October/November; may be best watched on stable debut. |

16/1(+20%) | (11) Rare Clouds 16/1, Was knocking on the door prior to deservedly winning a 7-runner Wincanton handicap (21.4f, heavy) in January. 5th (10) (66/1 -65%) Rathmacknee |
66/1(-65%) | (10) Rathmacknee 66/1, Mixed record for Nicky Henderson last season, winning twice but also pulled up on 3 occasions. No real impact in a handful of appearances for new connections this time round and he's readily passed over. Didn't run badly on last September's stable debut but well beaten on both starts since. |

6th (13) (18/1 -13%) Seignor Gringo |
18/1(-13%) | (13) Seignor Gringo 18/1, Off the mark over hurdles in claimer at Argentan in November 2022 and showed more than he did on debut for this yard when third at Fakenham (2m, heavy) on latest start in December. This step back up in trip should help but others make more appeal all the same. Under pressure very early when 23l third at Fakenham; not ruled out now back up in trip. |

7th (2) (7/2 +46%) Awaythelad |
7/2(+46%) | (2) Awaythelad 7/2, Runner-up in a decent Lingfield handicap before landing maiden/novice events around 21f at Ludlow and Leicester in January. Pulled up in a valuable Grade 3 handicap at Sandown last time but this is a more realistic assignment. Pulled up in Sandown handicap last time but that was a hot race; improved form previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (5/1 +50%) Elogio |
5/1(+50%) | (4) Elogio 5/1, Wide-margin winner of Aintree bumper on debut/sole start for Richard Bandey in November 2022. Fair form over hurdles for current yard, off the mark in this sphere at Wetherby on Boxing Day, but he was well held in a first-time visor (retained here) at Lingfield next time. Disappointing in visor at Lingfield in January but this 5yo won at Wetherby previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) (7/2 +42%) Tommy Time |
7/2(+42%) | (8) Tommy Time 7/2, Useful bumper winner in Ireland who didn't need to run to that level to make a successful hurdling debut at Sedgefield (16.8f, soft) in October. Not disgraced in 3 subsequent starts and he needs considering on this handicap debut. Lightly raced bumper and maiden hurdle winner who could have potential off opening mark. |

|PU| (6) (10/1 +38%) Clear The Runway |
10/1(+38%) | (6) Clear The Runway 10/1, Highly progressive hurdler/chaser in 2022 but efforts last year lacked spark and he's probably best watched here following an 8-month absence. Has tumbled down the weights but he struggled last year; returns from some time off. |

|PU| (12) (25/1 -56%) Fenna's Loss |
25/1(-56%) | (12) Fenna's Loss 25/1, Fair hurdler who scored at Hexham last summer. Good second back at that course in September but pulled up both subsequent starts and he needs to bounce back. Of interest on good-ground form; goes well fresh; could be a player if conditions suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (40/1 -233%) Finisk River |
40/1(-233%) | (3) Finisk River 40/1, :Scored 4 times around 2½m in 2022. Back to form from reduced mark when second of 7 in handicap at Bangor in September but wasn't in the same form at Musselburgh 2 months later and absent since. 11yo who returns from some time off; claims will be boosted if he's on good ground. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MR BRAMLEY has looked a decent prospect in his two hurdle victories to date and an opening mark of 121 looks workable enough for him to complete a hat-trick. High Treason will find this much more suitable than the ultra-competitive EBF Final at Sandown last time out, while handicap debutant Tommy Time also looks capable of playing a prominent role.
With the promise of more to come from the unexposed MR BRAMLEY now that he ventures down the handicap route, the 6-y-o is taken to maintain his 100% record over hurdles. Fellow handicap debutant Tommy Time could be the one to follow him home, while Awaythelad, who will find this easier than the race he contested at Sandown last time, and Nothin To Ask (resumes over hurdles on an attractive mark) are best of the rest.
Topweight MR BRAMLEY (nap) makes his handicap debut having won his first two hurdle starts, and he can land the hat-trick

Philip Rothwell's stable keeps firing in the winners and WEIHNACHTS could be another for him. This 10-year-old gelding bounced right back to form in Down Royal with an authoritative victory over an extended 3m2f this month. Although he is up 7lb in the weights, he is actually down in grade. Tangental has been a beaten favourite in four of his last six outings, but he is picking up prize money and looks one of the more likely contenders especially off a light weight. Made In The Woods has obtained his best results when racing off the front and, if he gets an uncontested lead, he could travel well for a long way. Fox Le Bel is a long-standing maiden, but is capable of grabbing more place money, while Centurion Steel is one to monitor for market strength in the first-time hood on his second start for Declan Queally.
STARLIGHT CATO is worth another chance to back up his good second at Navan having had excuses at Limerick last time (badly hampered and made mistakes after). Fox Le Bel should be in the mix again, while Tangental remains with scope in this sphere on hurdles form after just 3 chase starts.
Drying ground will help \LADY KATE\p who was second on yielding ground on handicap debut and she is a hopeful choice to defy a lay-off

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Cervaro Della Sala produced a consistent level of form in novice/maiden company last year and she makes obvious appeal now sent handicapping, but it is SHE IS A KEEPER who shades preference. Gay Kelleway's charge has been running creditably on the all-weather since last sighted on turf and, with the return to racing on the grass in her favour, she could be primed to strike. Musical Diva is also noted.
CERVARO DELLA SALA showed a fair level of form in her four starts on the all-weather at 2 yrs and she could be the answer now moving into handicap company off a reasonable opening mark. Musical Diva has been in good form on synthetics of late and will have a serious chance if able to match that back on turf, while Unico is third on the list.
Paul and Oliver Cole's horses are running well and CERVARO DELLA SALA has the services of Jamie Spencer for her handicap debut.

40/1(-150%) | (8) Whathappensinvegas 40/1, Seemed to improve when 9¾ lengths fifth of 7 to Legend of Time in listed race (80/1) at Meydan (9f, good) 52 days ago, albeith he was probably flattered. Rejoined yard after leaving Osama Refai. Very difficult to weigh up on handicap debut. Has shown ability in Dubai but he's 0-8 and others are more compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (6/1 +25%) Gone Rogue |
6/1(+25%) | (7) Gone Rogue 6/1, Dual winner at 2 who failed to justify support when only fifth at Lingfield on return. Not seen to best effect that day, however, and remains open to progress stepped up in distance. Below par the last twice but may improve for recent reappearance; two wins last year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (8/1 +0%) I Love Paris |
8/1(+0%) | (5) I Love Paris 8/1, Signs of promise prior to a respectable nursery debut at Kempton 5 months ago. More required but returns with his stable going well, so not completely dismissed. Promise in turf novices last season and reappears with yard in fine form; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (10/1 -43%) Invincible Aura |
10/1(-43%) | (3) Invincible Aura 10/1, Opened his account at Southwell in March, then acquitted himself well in a reasonable handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Others have a bit more potential but he should give his running. His run was slightly checked when fourth back in handicap last time; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (20/1 -150%) Galloping On |
20/1(-150%) | (2) Galloping On 20/1, Upped in trip for his handicap bow, ran well when second of 5 at Lingfield on penultimate outing. Probably undone by the testing conditions (also pulled hard) at Bath last time, so too soon to write off. Tailed off on recent turf debut, but on heavy ground; progressive on AW previously. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MR BALOO progressed nicely once stepped up to 7f last season with a pair of victories, one of those coming at this track, before finishing third at Newmarket. He returned earlier this month in winning form at Kempton and the manner of his performances suggest he will have no issue with stepping up to this distance. His stable companion Show Biz Kid is of interest on handicap debut following some promising displays, while Portsmouth and Dashinwhitesargent are other potential improvers.
MR BALOO improved to gain a third career success at Kempton last time and, with track experience to call upon, he's fancied to go in again at the possible expense of Portsmouth, a notable handicap debutant. Gone Rogue is still one to bear in mind despite an underwhelming reappearance.
The Richard Hannon-trained SHOW BIZ KID (nap) was a promising third at Salisbury on his middle 2yo start and may well be on a good mark.

Presumably one of the yard's lesser lights and needs to improve. Ran to an ordinary level on soft and heavy ground in two runs last October. |

80/1(-142%) | (4) The World's Astage 80/1, Twice-raced filly. Off 172 days. Hard to fancy. Beaten 11l into fourth at Fairyhouse (7f) and beaten double that margin at Dundalk (1m). |

200/1(+0%) | (2) Eirinn Rua 200/1, Twice-raced filly. 150/1, thirteenth of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (6f) 53 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Insufficient promise in two visits to Dundalk (1m/6f) to seriously entertain here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) (50/1 -317%) Sure Spirit |
50/1(-317%) | (3) Sure Spirit 50/1, Promising sort. 17/2, second of 10 in novice at Newcastle (7.1f) 14 months ago. First run for yard after leaving Sir Mark Prescott Bt. Probably one for handicaps. Rated only 68 and that hints at limitations in a maiden of this nature. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
NATIVITY SQUARE has been busy already this season and can gain a deserved win. The Vocalised filly ran really well when finishing second to Wingspan on her most recent outing at Leopardstown 16 days ago and a similar effort may be enough now. Gushing showed some promise on her debut when fourth at Thurles before a disappointing run at Leopardstown. She may be able to improve this year. Sure Spirit was runner-up twice on the all-weather in England but an official mark of 68 leaves her with a bit to find.
NATIVITY SQUARE is going the right way and can get off the mark in this thin maiden. Dangers come in the shape of newcomers Siege of Troy, Mataariki and Campari Soda.
This looks an excellent opportunity for the race-fit NATIVITY SQUARE to go one better than at Leopardstown.

(13) (14/1 -17%)14/1(-17%) | (13) Captain's Pick 14/1, Runner-up in a bumper in Ireland last summer but hasn't achieved a great deal in a bumper and 3 starts over hurdles. Hopes rest on switch to handicaps. Fair fourth in Plumpton maiden this month; opening handicap mark demands improvement. |

1st (8) (7/2 +36%) Nordic Tiger |
7/2(+36%) | (8) Nordic Tiger 7/2, French import who is firmly on the up, winning back-to-back handicaps within a week in February and losing little in defeat when second of 5 over 20.5f a month later. Another bold bid firmly on the cards. Dual winner in February; no match for winner when second in March but remains of interest. |

2nd (1) (5/1 +9%) Kaleb |
5/1(+9%) | (1) Kaleb 5/1, Held in strong handicaps around the turn of the year but fitted with blinkers eased in class, he was probably going to finish second but for a late fall at Plumpton. Big player from the same mark. Has developed a tendency to race lazily but is on a good mark and enters calculations. |

3rd (12) (20/1 -25%) Pozo Emery |
20/1(-25%) | (12) Pozo Emery 20/1, Promising novice hurdler for Paul Nicholls in 2021. Pulled up in 2 chase starts for new yard since returning from a long absence and dropping in the weights without looking ready to take advantage over timber. Largely disappointing since returning this season from mammoth absence. |

4th (11) (13/2 +59%) Allbetsoff |
13/2(+59%) | (11) Allbetsoff 13/2, Bagged his third win of 2023 in 6-runner Huntingdon claimer (15.8f) in November prior to a lesser effort returned to handicaps back at that venue later that month. Off since and back over a new trip. Won three 2m hurdles in 2023 but absent since below-par run in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (9/4 +63%) Klitschko |
9/4(+63%) | (4) Klitschko 9/4, Debut bumper winner and looked to be going the right way over hurdles, successful at Plumpton in February 2023. Backward step at Doncaster last month but heavy ground may have been against him. Struggled on heavy ground last time but a big player if judged on earlier Warwick second. |

6th (10) (15/2 +25%) Letthedustsettle |
15/2(+25%) | (10) Letthedustsettle 15/2, Came good over hurdles at the fifth attempt at Catterick (2m) in January and easily defied a penalty at the same C&D 9 days later. Gave something like his running once again when third at Plumpton (25f, soft) but he pulled up at Exeter latest. Has shown big improvement this year but needs to bounce back from a poor performance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (9/1 +0%) Basford |
9/1(+0%) | (6) Basford 9/1, Bumper winner who scored 4 times over hurdles last summer, producing a dominant display in handicap company at Southwell (3m). Good run of form came to a halt at Perth in August and he's been off the track since. Usual headgear left off. Triple hurdle winner in early part of season but absent since poor performance last August. |

8th (3) (16/1 -78%) Yes Indeed |
16/1(-78%) | (3) Yes Indeed 16/1, Fairly useful winning chaser in France and some decent placed efforts for this yard. Jumped poorly at Haydock in March and this his first hurdles outing for 3 years. On tempting mark for this return to hurdling but has been out of form over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (50/1 -25%) Kerosine Light |
50/1(-25%) | (5) Kerosine Light 50/1, Three wins for this yard in summer 2022 but off for 9 months prior to finishing a remote fifth at Uttoxeter last May and also pulled up on March's return to action. Blinkers replace cheekpieces. Triple hurdle winner in 2022 but seems to have lost his way; headgear switched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (80/1 -100%) Nelson River |
80/1(-100%) | (7) Nelson River 80/1, Caused a surprise when taking 4-runner novice at Leicester on debut over fences in February 2022. Went the wrong way over fences later that year and recent AW efforts hardly brimming with promise. In poor form in low-grade AW handicaps this year; has too much to prove on hurdle return. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Nordic Tiger was somewhat underwhelming when a well-beaten second at Plumpton last month and the five-year-old may be in the grip of the handicapper at present. With that in mind, it may pay to go for last-time-out Hereford scorer INTIMATE. Venetia Williams' gelding ran out a decisive winner on that occasion and not even a 10lb hike in the ratings may be enough to prevent him from following up. Kaleb looks to have a bigger performance in him and the son of Sir Percy is a viable alternative to the selection.
KALEB was set to show improved form (booked for second) until a late unseat at Plumpton when last seen in February and from the same mark, he can confirm himself to be well handicapped. Billy Boi Blue is a likely improver now allotted a mark, with Nordic Tiger expected to be on the premises again.
The suggestion is KLITSCHKO, who disappointed on heavy ground last month but was a very creditable second over 2m two starts ago.

Willie Mullins saddled a newcomer to win this race last year and could repeat the feat with NOT NEGOTIABLE. Her sire, Kapgarde, is a good source of bumper winners and she will certainly know her job. Shannon Bank was only collared in the closing stages at Down Royal, so that runner-up berth entitles her to respect. She is going the right way as her fourth places in Galway and Cork weren't devoid of ability either. Point-to-point winner Shantou Princess showed potential when keeping on for fourth on racecourse debut at Cork. There are plenty of winners in Laravie's pedigree, so a market move for her ahead of her racecourse bow would be interesting.
NOT NEGOTIABLE makes plenty of appeal on paper and should be able to get the better of Shannon Bank, who sets the standard on what's been achieved in bumpers. Nothing Hectic should be suited by the extra emphasis on stamina, so she's no forlorn hope.
The bar is not set too high by those that have run so NOT NEGOTIABLE, a sister to a useful hurdler in France, can take this on debut

A first ride for the Martin Dunne yard could bear fruit for Benoit De La Sayette aboard ALI JEWELS who, on the face of it, would need to improve on what she has shown in two starts this year. However, she was a C&D winner off 1lb lower in September last year and, with blinkers applied for the first time, it would come as no surprise were she to step forward in a relatively moderate event. Mellys Flyer finished a narrow second at Chelmsford 12 days ago and remains well treated, while Exceed, who struck at Thirsk last June, could be a factor too.
Tricky stuff with ALI JEWELS chanced back at the scene of her September success off a similar mark. The returning Exceed and Mellys Flyer are dangerous.
Mellys Flyer will surely get his head in front sooner rather than later but JOSIES KID had excuses when behind him at Chelmsford.

Several of these have crossed swords before and there is little to choose between the likes of Inexplicable, Capallcliste and Fanzone based on recent encounters. However, it might pay to focus on TROJAN TRUTH (third), who impressed with a C&D success on his penultimate start. The selection didn't enjoy the cleanest of runs after a slow start when attempting to follow up here three weeks ago, but can reverse the form with Damoiseau (second) with a better start and smoother run.
TROJAN TRUTH has started off the new campaign well and this looks a good opportunity for him to resume winning ways. Inexplicable and Damoiseau are feared most.
Laser Focus needs considering. Otherwise TROJAN TRUTH is taken to turn things round with Damoiseau from three weeks ago.

9/2(+36%) | (3) Camelot Alexander 9/2, 15/2 and hooded for 1st time, sixth of 12 in maiden at Leopardstown (8f, heavy). Off 6 months. Makes handicap debut and more needed on bare form achieved as a juvenile. Ordinary 2yo form but could make up into a better 3yo; handicap debut. |

2nd (8) (5/1 +38%) Cloud Seeker |
5/1(+38%) | (8) Cloud Seeker 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable third of 13 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 7/2) 11 days ago. Improved show on handicap debut (AW) but was well held and this looks stronger. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/8 +45%) Surfers Paradise |
11/8(+45%) | (1) Surfers Paradise 11/8, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/2 and tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable fourth of 10 in handicap at Leopardstown (10f, heavy) 16 days ago. Shortlist material with fitness assured. Encouraging fourth on handicap debut behind the thrown-in Chantilly. |

4th (2) (4/1 -33%) Kisiyra |
4/1(-33%) | (2) Kisiyra 4/1, 20/1, second of 11 in maiden at Galway (8.3f, heavy), better placed than most. Off 176 days. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Makes handicap debut and bred to improve for this trip. In her last run she finished within 2l of one who later ran well in a Group 3. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (25/1 -400%) Nika Pika |
25/1(-400%) | (6) Nika Pika 25/1, Good second of 6 in handicap at Cork (7f, heavy, 15/2) 24 days ago. Significantly up in trip and will need to settle to see this out. Second over 7f at Cork; has stamina to prove over this far and conditions will be testing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (8/1 -60%) Ringside Timing |
8/1(-60%) | (4) Ringside Timing 8/1, Creditable third of 6 in handicap (13/8) at Cork (7f, heavy) 24 days ago. Significantly back up in trip, which will help. Now 0-8 but returning to further should suit on both running style and pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (50/1 -213%) I'll Rise |
50/1(-213%) | (7) I'll Rise 50/1, Hooded for first time, seventh of 9 in maiden (150/1) at Naas (8f, heavy) 30 days ago. Makes handicap debut. No better than seventh in her qualifying runs and will need to settle better than at Naas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (50/1 -100%) Sportingsilvermine |
50/1(-100%) | (5) Sportingsilvermine 50/1, 40/1, first run since leaving Adrian Brendan Joyce when eleventh of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (6f) 18 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Has work to do. His handicap debut on the AW 18 days ago was thoroughly underwhelming. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
KISIYRA could improve for going a bit further this season. The Sea The Moon filly was placed in a couple of maidens last year and it was a good run when chasing home Everlasting at Galway in a decent contest last October. She is fitted with cheekpieces on her return and a mark of 79 doesn't look harsh. Colin Keane takes the mount on Nika Pika again after a good run to chase home Uncle Albert at Cork late last month. The Estidhkaar filly had Ringside Timing a length-and-a-quarter back in third then. Jim Bolger's charge was dropped a pound after that run and is now ridden by an inexperienced 10lb claimer.
SURFERS PARADISE stuck pretty well to his task when fourth in a better handicap than this a fortnight ago and with that reappearance under his belt, he's just about the most persuasive option. Ringside Timing should relish this trip and is feared most, ahead of Kisiyra.
This can go to SURFERS PARADISE who ran a pleasing race on his handicap debut at Leopardstown behind the thrown-in Chantilly.

1st (3) (16/1 -45%) Urban Soldier |
16/1(-45%) | (3) Urban Soldier 16/1, Modest form at best for Paul Nicholls but, having attracted support, shaped quite well when third in a handicap hurdle at Doncaster in December. Stopped too quickly for comfort at Huntingdon since and cheekpieces now on. Flopped last time but of interest if judged on promising seasonal/stable/handicap debut. |

2nd (6) (9/4 +86%) Jeteye |
9/4(+86%) | (6) Jeteye 9/4, Hints of promise in his qualifying runs and a tongue tie is now fitted up in trip for this handicap debut. Pulled up on handicap debut but remains unexposed; watch the betting. |

3rd (10) (11/1 -100%) Rumble B |
11/1(-100%) | (10) Rumble B 11/1, Arrives on the back of small-field wins at Sedgefield and Hexham in recent months and a subsequent 4 lb rise leaves him competitive with stamina assured. Was a longstanding maiden until winning his last two races (3m3f/2m7f); more needed again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 -9%) Nickelforce |
6/1(-9%) | (4) Nickelforce 6/1, Built on previous promise to get off the mark in 12-runner handicap hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f, soft) in January. Raised 6 lb and posted a fair effort in his follow-up bid when third upped to 23.5f at Ascot. Placed off today's mark at Ascot since breakthrough win at Plumpton in January; in the mix. |

5th (7) (16/1 +0%) Golden Ambition |
16/1(+0%) | (7) Golden Ambition 16/1, Promise on 2 of his 3 starts in novice/maiden hurdles but failed to improve for switch to handicap company at Kempton and has followed that with a couple of very tame efforts. Blinkers on trying 3m for the first time. Respectable fifth on handicap debut in February but well beaten twice since; blinkers on. |

6th (5) (11/2 +31%) Faded Fantasy |
11/2(+31%) | (5) Faded Fantasy 11/2, Opened his account in a 20.4f maiden here last summer. Unable to match that form since, albeit a runner-up effort over C&D (30 lengths behind the winner) was more like it. Stamina for a well-run 3m isn't set in stone but he needs considering. Remote when second over C&D this month but today's quicker ground ought to suit better. |

7th (11) (18/1 +10%) Unspeakable |
18/1(+10%) | (11) Unspeakable 18/1, Much improved to win 3m Taunton handicap hurdle in March 2023 but nowhere near that level in his 4 outings since. Narrow winner at Taunton last season but out of form this term. |

50/1(-150%) | (12) Mizuma 50/1, Just bits and pieces of form in Ireland and comfortably held in 3 chases for new yard. Back up in trip with headgear on. Safely held in three 2m3f chases for new stable this season; back hurdling today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (14/1 -56%) Just Call Me Al |
14/1(-56%) | (13) Just Call Me Al 14/1, Won 3 times in 2021/22 season. Drawn blank since but signs he can do something from his reduced mark when second over 3m at Musselburgh in December. Bit disappointing at Sedgefield since. Regressive veteran; runner-up on penultimate outing but not the percentage call here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (4/1 -60%) Mahler Moon |
4/1(-60%) | (1) Mahler Moon 4/1, In top hands and starting to get his act together over hurdles, placed in handicaps at Doncaster and Newbury in 2024. Nudged up 2 lb but he enters calculations. 0-7 over hurdles but placed twice since upped to 3m and fitted with cheekpieces; a player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (20/1 -150%) Royal Defender |
20/1(-150%) | (2) Royal Defender 20/1, Point winner who left his hurdling debut form behind refitted with a tongue strap when third in 8-runner novice at Lingfield (2m) in November. Tailed off in much stronger company at Cheltenham and having been allotted a stiff mark, he was well held at Exeter. Up in trip. Struggled to cope with heavy ground on handicap debut; might fare better here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (22/1 -83%) I'm Too Tired |
22/1(-83%) | (8) I'm Too Tired 22/1, Breakthrough success in this sphere came at Sedgefield in January but trailed in last of 8 on the Flat a month later and similarly poor back hurdling at Warwick recently. Hiked up markedly in trip with cheekpieces back on. Off the mark at Sedgefield in January but form has dipped since; up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (125/1 -150%) Clarehill |
125/1(-150%) | (14) Clarehill 125/1, Maiden Irish pointer who hasn't shaped with much encouragement over hurdles as yet. 11 lb out of the weights. Struggled over C&D on handicap debut; effectively 8lb higher today, from out of handicap. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Having been hampered by a faller at the first flight, NICKELFORCE didn't enjoy the smoothest of passages on his third-placed finish at Ascot last month. Ben Case's inmate still performed with credit that day and a return to class 5 company may prove fruitful. The hat-trick seeking Rumble B is also sure to prove popular and the veteran may give the selection most to think about, ahead of the in-form Mahler Moon.
Quite a few of these have to prove stamina for 3m but that's no issue for MAHLER MOON, who is now going the right way over hurdles for his leading yard. He's preferred in favour of Rumble B and Nickelforce.
The drying ground will suit FADED FANTASY and he is selected in the hope he can recapture the form of last summer's easy course win.

9/2(+18%) | (4) Fouroneohfever 9/2, Thrice-raced maiden. 11/8, fifth of 13 in minor event at Kempton (8f). Off 132 days. Significantly up in trip and merits respect on handicap debut. Ran to a similar level in three maidens/novices (7f-1m) last backend; market will guide. |

2nd (3) (5/2 +9%) Hampden |
5/2(+9%) | (3) Hampden 5/2, Lightly-raced maiden. Creditable third of 13 in maiden (3/1) at this course (9.5f) 21 days ago, clear of rest. Up in trip for this handicap debut and he's open to improvement. Stamina on his dam's side and tonight's stiffer test may suit now he's had a run back. |

13/8(-17%) | (2) Educate 13/8, Twice-raced winner. Tongue strap on for 1st time, second of 8 in minor event at Kempton (10f, 4/1) 22 days ago. Up in trip and likely to progress now handicapping. Stamina on both sides of his pedigree and the further step up in trip should suit; player. |

4th (5) (33/1 -136%) Trojan Storm |
33/1(-136%) | (5) Trojan Storm 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Bit below form sixth of 12 in maiden at Kempton (12f, 6/1) 48 days ago, inadequate test. Makes handicap debut. Gelded. Gone the wrong way and he's been gelded since his handicap debut; has a bit to prove now. |

5th (1) (9/2 -29%) Peace Walk |
9/2(-29%) | (1) Peace Walk 9/2, Thrice-raced winner. Second of 6 in minor event (6/5) at Ayr (8f, heavy), just failing. Off 6 months and significantly up in trip for this handicap debut. Open to improvement. Progressive last backend; remains lightly raced and could well be up to the job. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Handicap debutants Peace Walk and EDUCATE jointly set a decent standard here. The former, a winner over the extended 7f at Beverley on his penultimate start, commands respect but the selection won over 1m at Southwell on his racecourse bow and currently appears more suited to this stiffer test of stamina. Second to an improver on his seasonal bow at Kempton 22 days ago, the Sea The Stars colt also has match-fitness on his side. Trojan Storm rates best of the rest.
An interesting handicap in which strong cases can be made for four of the five entries. EDUCATE couldn't live with Palace Green at Kempton but that was still a good effort and he looks the way to go here with this stiffer test likely to help unlock improvement on this handicap debut. Hampden didn't do a great deal wrong on his reappearance here 3 weeks ago and he is feared most ahead of Peace Walk and Fouroneohfever.
There's speed in PEACE WALK's pedigree but he looked more about stamina himself last autumn and is preferred to Educate.

10/3(+26%) | (1) Duke Of Leggagh 10/3, 5/1, respectable third of 13 in handicap at Leopardstown (10f, heavy) 13 days ago. Has good chance on pick of form. Hard to win with but is suited by heavy ground, recent Leopardstown third was encouraging. |

7th (11) (14/1 +0%) Arch Enemy |
14/1(+0%) | (11) Arch Enemy 14/1, Ninth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (10.7f, 11/1). Off 165 days and she's probably worth taking on. All three turf wins have come on good ground and has also won on AW, heavy ground a worry. |

22/1(-57%) | (9) Bear Profit 22/1, 3/1, bit below form sixth of 13 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f). Off 6 months and significantly up in trip on first run for yard after leaving Stuart Williams. Both wins for Stuart Williams were on AW, heavy going may not suit for Irish debut. |

11th (2) (5/1 -11%) Givemehoperosa |
5/1(-11%) | (2) Givemehoperosa 5/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Leopardstown in October. 17/2, creditable fourth of 13 in handicap at Leopardstown (10f, heavy) 13 days ago. Closely matched with Duke Of Leggagh on recent form and is less exposed than that rival. |

17/2(-13%) | (3) Roderick 17/2, Good third of 20 in handicap (25/1) at Leopardstown (8f, heavy) 16 days ago. Merits consideration. Showed that long-priced Dundalk second was not a fluke with a good run at Leopardstown. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
STILL ROLLING was obviously flattered to get as close as she did to One Look in Cork late last month but it was still a decent run and she looks capable of scoring off this kind of mark now in handicap company. Duke Of Leggagh was eased a pound after a solid run to finish third to Mr Rango at Leopardstown 13 days ago and could be a big player here now. He had Givemehoperosa half a length behind then. Jack Davison claims 5lb off his filly now, with James Ryan getting the leg up, and is another that has to be in the mix.
This looks wide open. Preference is for DUKE OF LEGGAGH, who posted his best effort for a while when third under Wesley Joyce at Leopardstown recently and, down another 1 lb, he has slipped to workable mark. Roderick also performed well in a Leopardstown handicap last time and he is feared most ahead of French import Evolving, Quantum Light and handicap debutante Still Rolling.
Fourth on her handicap debut at Leopardstown, GIVEMEHOPEROSA\ can turn the tables on third-placed \bDuke Of Leggagh

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
RAINWATER was a well-backed favourite on his debut at Haydock last August and, while he paid the price for a slow start that day, he did show promise as that race unfolded. Ultimately second to a filly who was pitched at a Group 3 on her next start, that run sets a good standard. Beveragino is respected back at this trip with first-time cheekpieces added, but nicely-bred newcomer Smouldering makes more appeal for the silver medal.
RAINWATER was well backed before making a most promising debut at Haydock 8 months ago, and is taken to improve past the more exposed Beveragino. Smouldering is the more interesting newcomer.
Smouldering is an interesting newcomer but the market spoke well of RAINWATER ahead of one run last summer and he gets the nod.

SOUL OF SPAIN should prove hard to beat. He got up for second on debut at the Curragh in October and took a lot of credit from that performance, particularly as the winner was good enough to then finish a close third in a Group 1 in France. Soul Of Spain holds an Irish Derby entry. Cheeky Wink has some notable entries including in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, so it is reasonable to assume she has progressed over the winter after a fifth place on debut at Leopardstown in October. Daboya and Mickey Cohen are two newcomers who could have a say in proceedings.
SOUL OF SPAIN made a promising start at the Curragh 6 months ago and is the one to beat. Daboya is the interesting newcomer, while once-raced Cheeky Wink is likely to take a step forward.
Irish Derby entry SOUL OF SPAIN entered many notebooks when a closing second to the high-class Illinois at the Curragh last season.

25/1(-56%) | (4) Lord Danielson 25/1, Poor maiden. 8/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f) 17 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Plenty of chances at this sort of level; switch from a hood to cheekpieces needs to help. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A winner over this course and distance on her debut for the James Own yard 10 days ago, TENYATTA is not overburdened off just a 3lb higher mark and she rates a solid option in her bid to follow up. Amroon hinted at a revival last time out and, dropped 1lb, he can also get competitive on his return to this venue. Handicap newcomer Tantomile is another must for consideration.
TENYATTA didn't take long to score for new trainer James Owen and can notch up a second C&D success. Tantomile, Aces High and Warrior Tune are interesting handicap debutants in opposition.
Tenyatta isn't without risk from the outside stall and preference is for AMROON, who's been gelded and goes up in distance.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CARLO BIANCONI can make it third-time lucky. Joseph O'Brien's charge has finished a close second in both maidens to date and should play a leading role. Interestingly, he holds an entry in the valuable Chester Cup next month. The lowest-rated horse in that race last year was on a mark of 87, so Carlo Bianconi would likely need a victory to get in as he's rated 78. Neptunes Staircase is a worthy opponent. He lost out by a neck in Navan and by a nose at the Curragh, so wouldn't be winning out of turn. Furthermore, trip and ground are fine for him. Firebrand was beaten a length into second over hurdles at Cork in March and it is worth noting that he was runner-up on the Flat in France last year. Johanna Whitty is likely to improve from her unplaced seasonal reappearance at the Curragh on Saturday.
CARLO BIANCONI went close on both his starts in maidens, including on his comeback at Dundalk 12 weeks ago, and can find the required improvement to beat Away To The Sea, who often runs in handicaps. Neptunes Staircase and Johanna Whitty are best of the others.
Runner-up over C&D a year ago and on his return at Dundalk last month, CARLO BIANCONI has good prospects of going one better.

4/1(-14%) | (1) Evaluation 4/1, First run since leaving Charlie Johnston when ninth of 13 in handicap (18/1) at Southwell (16.5f) 59 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Continues to edge down the weights and is not one to write off just yet. Looks to retain most of his ability; claims but is 2lb above his highest successful mark. |

2nd (5) (9/4 -105%) Miss Cynthia |
9/4(-105%) | (5) Miss Cynthia 9/4, 11/8, good second of 7 in handicap at Pontefract (17.1f, good) when last seen in August. Provided she's raring to go following a break, she will prove a tough nut to crack. Nothing wrong with final second off 2lb lower; capable if ready after eight months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (5/1 +29%) Star Legend |
5/1(+29%) | (6) Star Legend 5/1, 11/2, ninth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (14f) 10 days ago, needing stiffer test. Will get that here and he should make his presence felt. Two decent efforts at Chelmsford this spring; the return to cheekpieces has clearly helped. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (11/1 +31%) Sea Grey |
11/1(+31%) | (3) Sea Grey 11/1, Ninth of 13 in novice hurdle (12/1) at Huntingdon (15.8f, soft) 22 days ago. Poor effort on latest start in this sphere he would have a chance off this reduced mark if he were to put his best foot forward. Tapeta debut off the back of poor effort over hurdles; is some way down the pecking order. |

5th (4) (5/1 +17%) The Craftymaster |
5/1(+17%) | (4) The Craftymaster 5/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Newcastle in March. 4/1, fifth of 6 in handicap at Kempton (16f) 13 days ago. Something to find on form now. Has won seven in the past four months; will need another career-best off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/2 +25%) Seal Of Solomon |
9/2(+25%) | (2) Seal Of Solomon 9/2, C&D winner. Six wins from 19 Flat runs. Two wins from 5 runs last year. 10/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford City (13.3f) 12 days ago. Back up in trip and it's likely that he'll find one or two too good. Decent strike-rate in handicaps; is a straightforward sort who's won over C&D; fair claims. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
MISS CYNTHIA improved as the stamina tests increased on turf last season and is a different proposition to the last time she raced on a synthetic surface. Although this is a step up in class for the daughter of Sea The Moon, there is good reason to expect Sir Mark Prescott has left plenty to work with and another big run looks assured. The Craftymaster is feared despite being held off this mark at Kempton 13 days ago. Unexposed on the all-weather, Sea Grey is noted too.
A deserved first taste of success could be on the cards for MISS CYNTHIA, who made the frame all five starts switched to handicaps last season and may well have more to offer as a 4-y-o. Evaluation has slipped to a dangerous mark and is feared most, though Star Legend is also accorded respect.
Proven winner SEAL OF SOLOMON is entitled to have come on for his recent return from ten months off. Evaluation is second choice.

5/1(-11%) | (8) Plumette 5/1, 5-time course winner. Fourth of 7 in handicap at this C&D (14/1) 35 days ago, slowly away. First run for yard after leaving Steph Hollinshead. Tongue strap back on. Not taken lightly. Five-time course winner who's been on the downgrade in recent times; each-way claims. |

3rd (2) (11/4 +8%) Coolree |
11/4(+8%) | (2) Coolree 11/4, 5/1 and blinkered for 1st time, creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at this course (9.5f) 19 days ago. Shaped better than the result last time and this is less competitive, so he's worth taking a chance on. Last two runs (after a wind op) here have been more like it; holds leading claims down 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (4/1 +20%) Khathak |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Khathak 4/1, Temperamental sort. Seventeen runs since last win in 2021. Ninth of 11 in handicap (12/1) at Southwell (8.1f) 44 days ago. Had been running with credit prior to excusable latest effort, so not one to rule out. Eased latest; this trip on Tapeta is fine and ought to fare better off a career-low mark. |

5th (10) (40/1 +0%) Tacitus |
40/1(+0%) | (10) Tacitus 40/1, One win from 24 Flat runs. 50/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 33 days ago. Hard to make a case for. Lost his way; Covert Legend is perhaps his yard's most interesting contender. |

11/1(-120%) | (11) Darker 11/1, 14/1, good third of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 15 days ago. Back up in trip. Worth considering despite long-standing maiden tag. Longstanding maiden who can miss the break and hang left; is inconsistent too. |

9th (6) (33/1 -230%) Avarice |
33/1(-230%) | (6) Avarice 33/1, Course winner. 25/1, respectable fifth of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW). Off 22 months. Hard to know how much ability he retains. Returns from a very lengthy absence; hasn't run over this sort of trip since his 3yo days. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
COOLREE relished the application of blinkers for the first time here over slightly further earlier in the month, before not quite seeing it out inside the final furlong. If the headgear works again, he makes plenty of appeal with the handicapper also dropping him 1lb. Covert Legend could bounce back following wind surgery and might well be on a dangerous handicap mark, while Khathak and Darker appeal most of the remainder.
COOLREE shaped well up with a strong pace last time and, from stall 1, he's worth chancing in a race where the majority have questions to answer. Darker is one of few that has run with credit last time, so he's a danger, while Covert Legend is worth noting on the back of wind surgery and a short break.
It's easy enough to pick holes in most and this may well be best left to COOLREE (nap). Covert Legend has the ability but is risky.

66/1(-164%) | (4) West End Lass 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 125/1, fifth of 6 in minor event at this C&D 13 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Others more persuasive. Hasn't shown enough to be considered, not unless the market speaks firmly her way. |

11th (13) (12/1 +52%) Billian |
12/1(+52%) | (13) Billian 12/1, C&D winner. Seventh of 8 in handicap (6/1) at this C&D 31 days ago. Visor on 1st time. Something to find on form. Below market expectations here last time; perhaps the switch of headgear will do the trick. |

12th (12) (14/1 -40%) Hard Nut |
14/1(-40%) | (12) Hard Nut 14/1, Twenty two runs since last win in 2019. Creditable third of 7 in handicap (13/2) at this course (5.1f) 13 days ago, nearest finish. Drawn near some good pace; is capable if he gets away better and things fall his way. |

13th (1) (16/1 -100%) Seas Of Elzaam |
16/1(-100%) | (1) Seas Of Elzaam 16/1, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 12/1) 48 days ago. Stays further and can pull hard which is a concern from stall 13 but still has the ability. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
ARLECCHINO'S GIFT nearly made it a third career victory over C&D last time and would likely have done so barring a slow start. The five-year-old's record here since the beginning of the year has been extremely consistent and he is taken to confirm the form with Coast (third) and Sisters In The Sky (fourth). The aforementioned pair are both respected once again, while others to consider include Midnight Flame and Mumcat.
ARLECCHINO'S GIFT scored here in March and got right back on track when an unfortunate second over C&D last time, likely to have scored with a clear run, so he's worth chancing to gain compensation. Coast regularly goes well at this track and should be thereabouts once more, while Mumcat is likely to give her running again.
This might be set up for MUMCAT, who hasn't had the breaks lately. Coast is another who can run well.

1st (5) (25/1 -108%) Q Twenty Boy |
25/1(-108%) | (5) Q Twenty Boy 25/1, C&D winner in January. 11/1, sixth of 8 in handicap at this C&D 31 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Three of his five wins have come here; capable of playing a part if getting a good pace. |

2nd (9) (11/2 -57%) Higher Law |
11/2(-57%) | (9) Higher Law 11/2, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. Creditable length fourth of 10 to Gidwa in handicap (17/2) at this C&D 13 days ago, finishing well. Expected to be bang there. Caught the eye of the stewards here last time, but 0-23 so may not fare any better. |

3rd (11) (40/1 -100%) Rebel Redemption |
40/1(-100%) | (11) Rebel Redemption 40/1, C&D winner. Twenty-three runs since last win in 2022. Last of 8 in handicap at this course (7.2f, 20/1) 22 days ago. Blinkers back on. Likely to find a few too good. Usually seen over further these days and losing run is now up to 23; others preferred. |

4th (13) (33/1 -32%) Kangaroo |
33/1(-32%) | (13) Kangaroo 33/1, 17/2, eleventh of 13 in minor event at Chelmsford City (6f). Off 103 days and others make more appeal. 0-13 and needs a turnaround after three months off. |

5th (8) (5/2 +29%) Gidwa |
5/2(+29%) | (8) Gidwa 5/2, 11/8, didn't need to improve to win 10-runner handicap at this C&D 13 days ago by nose from Bernard Spierpoint. 2 lb nudge fair enough but more will be needed if he's to go in again. Just got the better of Bernard Spierpoint here last time, but not sure to confirm the form. |

6th (4) (25/1 -108%) Kitbag |
25/1(-108%) | (4) Kitbag 25/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in December. First run since leaving Jack Channon when last of 11 in handicap (33/1) at Newcastle (5f) 15 days ago. Back up in trip and would have a chance if on-song. 3lb lower than when successful over C&D in December; worth a second look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (15/2 +46%) Mine That Ship |
15/2(+46%) | (6) Mine That Ship 15/2, Ninth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 16/1) 23 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time and needs to raise her game. 0-11, but 7f has looked too far the last twice and she should appreciate the return to 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (16/1 -191%) Tathmeen |
16/1(-191%) | (3) Tathmeen 16/1, 3-time C&D winner. Three wins from 24 runs last year. 5/1, improved on recent efforts to win 10-runner handicap at Newcastle (6f) 29 days ago, suited by strong pace. Up 5 lb and he's not an obvious candidate to follow up. Four wins here and ended a long losing run last time; could figure if they go quick enough. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (13/2 +74%) Yaahobby |
13/2(+74%) | (10) Yaahobby 13/2, C&D winner. Respectable seventh of 17 in handicap at Thirsk (6f, soft, 66/1) 3 days ago. Looks vulnerable. 6lb below last winning mark, but not sure he is running well enough to take advantage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) (15/2 -7%) Mikka |
15/2(-7%) | (12) Mikka 15/2, Good length third of 10 to Gidwa in handicap at this C&D (8/1) 13 days ago. Can go well again. 0-10; not far behind Gidwa & Bernard Spierpoint over C&D 13 days ago, but needs a bit more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (10/1 -33%) Captain Wentworth |
10/1(-33%) | (2) Captain Wentworth 10/1, Remains a maiden after 17 Flat runs. 9/2 and visored for 1st time, bit below form third of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 47 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Fair efforts lately, but now 0-17; outside stall doesn't do him many favours; blinkers on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) (15/2 -36%) Bernard Spierpoint |
15/2(-36%) | (7) Bernard Spierpoint 15/2, Course winner. Three wins from 14 runs last year. 16/1, nose second of 10 to Gidwa in handicap at this C&D 13 days ago, having run of race. Should be on the premises once more. Just beaten by Gidwa on his return from five months off over C&D last time; a player. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
GIDWA built on his second here over 7f last month when benefitting from a drop back in trip to score over C&D last time, when just denying Bernard Spierpoint in the final strides. A 2lb rise for that success is unlikely to stop him from going well again, while his old rival is likely to be a threat on the front end. Captain Wentworth has been knocking on the door in recent starts and first-time blinkers might aid his cause.
HIGHER LAW (fourth) and Mikka (third) were both hot on the heels of Gidwa and Bernard Spierpoint after encountering traffic problems over C&D 13 days ago, and they can reverse placings with those rivals this time. Marginal preference is for Higher Law, who is 0-23 but he was a real eye-catcher in the aforementioned race and looks ready to strike. Tathmeen did the job well at Newcastle but he was seen to maximum effect that day and looks vulnerable up 5 lb.
The vote goes to MINE THAT SHIP, who is 2lb lower than when narrowly beaten the last time she raced over this trip.
Ths is the racecard key.
