Lario has taken the silver medal home on each of his last two starts, most recently at Newbury, and competes off an unchanged mark. The six-year-old has cheekpieces applied for the first time and ought to go close, but KINGSTON JAMES gets the vote. Lucinda Russell's charge struck by three lengths in a warm event at Musselburgh and, although 9lb higher, a repeat of that performance can help him record a second Ayr success. Inappropriate is another to note.

Juvenile hurdlers STATIC and Inappropriate are interesting, while Liari, Lario and Kingston James look best of the rest.

A confident vote goes to TWIST OF FATECATCH, who shaped with considerable promise when filling the runner-up berth on his hurdling bow over C&D last month. He wouldn't need to improve much on that display in a race lacking depth, although the 104-rated Maillot Vert could offer the most resistance, despite falling at Uttoxeter on his British hurdles debut. Master Dunraven needs to improve, but he was a fair performer on the level and should not be written off.

This looks a golden opportunity for TWIST OF FATECATCH who made a promising start over hurdles when a close second over C&D last month.

Richard Hannon has trained the last couple of winners of this and any strong support for PRIVATE AFFAIR should be noted. The son of Soldier's Call is a brother to a winner over 5f and will likely posses enough pace to have a say in the outcome. Siren Suit's dam won the Princess Margaret over 6f as a two-year-old and he is another to closely monitor, while Inca Heights is related to several winners and could make his presence felt.

Richard Hannon has won the last two renewals and PRIVATE AFFAIR is suggested to make it three in a row. Inca Heights is next best.

Irish Chorus had the race at her mercy when falling at the last at Doncaster and has a strong chance of making amends. However, GREEN SKY looks the way to go. The five-year-old was well beaten off a mark of 113 in a deep handicap at Kelso last month, but drops back into maiden company and sets the standard with a revised rating of 111. Kanitamay completes the shortlist.

Preference is for hurdling newcomer ROXANNE on her first start for Dan Skelton. Irish Chorus is second choice.

NOLLYADOR disappointed when sent off as favourite at Market Rasen last time, having been on target at Hereford two starts ago. Emma Lavelle's charge had excuses that day, though, and switched to fences for the first time, which is likely to suit, it would come as no surprise were he to bounce back. Korus continues to run well in defeat and is unlikely to be far away, along with All Authorized, who can fare better than a higher level he contested at Newbury in February.

The vote goes to 5yo KORUS, who is unexposed over fences and was third behind a progressive subsequent winner at Stratford last time.

She is a half-sister to Sacred, who won the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes here for the Haggas yard and went very close in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, and she may prove the one to side with. Cajole shares ownership with the selection and the daughter of Dubawi could feature, while Breckenbrough cost 130,000gns as a half-sister to a Listed 6f winner and is worthy of a second look.

Judged on breeding and other factors, Cheveley Park Stud's fillies CONSECRATED and Cajole look the most interesting contenders.

Imperial Merlin is a C&D winner who showed improvement after a wind operation to score at Haydock and has to be respected off just 4lb higher. However, HISTRIONIC beat a subsequent winner to shed his maiden tag at Chepstow last month and Paul Nicholls' promising six-year-old is likely to have plenty of improvement in him. This is only his fourth start over hurdles and he is fancied to make a successful handicap bow. Ace Of Spades is another to keep an eye on.

Dan Skelton has won two of the last four runnings and the step up in trip looks a positive move for ACE OF SPADES (nap).

STAFF SERGEANT LEN didn't quite see out the extended 2m3f at Hereford last time out, when second to an improver. A 3lb rise doesn't look harsh on that evidence and should a drop in trip play to his strengths, the low mileage five-year-old ought to be capable of better. Wasthatok was a creditable third from this mark at Ffos Las three weeks ago and he shouldn't be far away under similar conditions, although Diesel Line could be the bigger threat.

Dual C&D winner HE'S A LATCHICO (nap) is well handicapped on some of last season's form and wasn't beaten far on his reappearance.

QUEEN OF THIEVES makes plenty of appeal tackling middle-distances for the first time. A sister to the top-class Cracksman, she will have learned plenty from last year's debut over a mile at Doncaster and should have bags more to offer. Lady Ridgewood is another likely to benefit for this extra test of stamina, having gone close at Kempton in November. Serenity Prayer is a newcomer to keep an eye on for the future.

The betting can guide with regard to the newcomers but, as things stand, LADY RIDGEWOOD is preferred to Queen Of Thieves.

Dan Skelton has a good record in this race and his Riskintheground is dangerous to underestimate from his last winning mark. However, NED TANNER was a ready winner over C&D last month and, with that memory still fresh, another step forward could see him make the most of receiving weight all round. Fellow track-and-trip scorer Walk On Quest is much better than he managed last time and also rates a key player.

Having thrived since the tongue-tie and cheekpieces went on, NED TANNER is taken to follow up last month's C&D win.

Honneur D'Ajonc won a selling hurdle at Stratford and a return to a handicap shouldn't hamper him in terms of being competitive. That said, he may prove vulnerable to a less-exposed rival in the shape of CAUVICOURT. Henrietta Knight's gelding has shaped well on both starts to date over hurdles, in particular when runner-up to a useful novice over C&D in January, and has a decent opportunity to strike on his handicap bow. Kalif D'airy and Baltray could get involved too.

The vote goes to KALIF D'AIRY who has gone close in four of his last five including when a clear second in a maiden here last time.

A dual Derby entrant, the son of New Bay is highly likely to find this step up in trip a natural process and he is very much the pick of Andrew Balding's duo. Gethin also made a winning debut at the same venue last autumn and is another Derby entrant to bear in mind. Dangerman and Marnier are notable newcomers representing a top yard.

TORNEO has done well since being sent chasing and looks ready for another crack at this level on the back of a five-length success at Chepstow. Asta La Pasta has also been consistent in this discipline and rates another key player with a hood/tongue-tie combination tried for just the second time. Paso Doble can play a big part on his fencing bow if not inconvenienced by cutting back in trip, while C&D winner Dance Thief adds a touch of intrigue with first-time cheekpieces tried.

Very competitive in deeper races this season, ASTA LA PASTA could be hard to beat here if the drop back in trip suits him.

Ivane has clearly benefited from a switch to James Owen and built on his second here by going one better at Southwell. The return to fences is unlikely to pose any concerns in his current vein of form, although recent course winner FINE INVESTMENT might have his measure. The drop back in trip is unlikely to be an inconvenience, having travelled strongly on that occasion, and a 3lb rise seems more than fair. Extraordinary Man is entitled to be in the mix judged on his recent third at Southwell.

Preference is for FINE INVESTMENT, who travelled strongly when scoring here two weeks ago and is open to more progress back in trip.

Vice President, a winner over 1m2f on the last of his three starts for Aidan O'Brien, left Ballydoyle for a potentially bargain price of 30,000gns and is a notable danger on his first run for Richard Hughes. Spirit Mixer and Robert Johnson complete the shortlist.

Bumper winner SAGE CONSEIL took a pleasing step forward from his hurdling debut to fill the runner-up spot at Roscommon when last seen in July and could have more to offer. Provided the seven-year-old retains his ability, he will prove tough to beat. Willie Shake Hands has hit the crossbar in handicap company the last twice and has to be respected back in a maiden, while Solent Gateway is another to watch out for.

The returning SAGE CONSEIL has shown a good level of form in Ireland, and represents a trainer who traditionally does well in the UK.

Dan Skelton trained last year's winner and NURSE SUSAN is anticipated to make a bold bid in a competitive renewal. The eight-year-old was still in contention approaching the last in the Martin Pipe before fading in the closing stages. She ran a fine race considering that was her first start for over a year and should be spot-on for this. Jockey bookings suggest last month's Uttoxeter winner Red Risk is preferred to Irish Hill of the Paul Nicholls runners, while The Four Sixes makes most appeal of Olly Murphy's contingent after scoring in good style at Bangor. I Love My Baie is not out of it either.

Last year's runner-up THE FOUR SIXES returned to form with a win at Bangor last month and is taken to go one better than 12 months ago.

Bluenose Belle is an interesting contender making her handicap debut and may be the one to serve it up to BOBBIGREY. Jennie Candlish's mare was disappointing at Leicester in November, but she has been given plenty of time to recover and is worth another chance to strike. Arenas Del Tiempo raced too keenly at Plumpton last weekend but she can't be written off yet, especially now back on a flatter track.

It isn't easy to make a case for any of these, but the Candlish runner BOBBIGREY receives the tentative nod over Bluenose Belle.

WHATSYOURPROBLEM has failed to justify favouritism on each of his last two starts, but looks to have found an ideal opportunity. If the seven-year-old can reproduce his runner-up effort at Southwell two starts ago, he will prove tough to beat. Bongo Man was held in fifth on his first outing over hurdles over C&D last month, but he could take a step forward in order to have a say. Misteroddsocks looks best of the rest.

Whatsyourproblem is opposed with BONGO MAN, who shaped quite well when fifth over C&D on his stable/hurdle debut.

BARONESS ORCZY was pulled up on her debut in March but showed much improved form just eight days ago and should continue to progress. Out of a three-time winner, the selection finished three-and-a-half lengths behind three-time Flat winner Mile End at Naas but should reverse that form, having finished her race quite well. She is also the lesser exposed of the pair, and is now 8lb better off. Pure Logic had useful bumper form last summer and will appreciate good ground but debuts over hurdles on her reappearance run. Final Decision was useful in 2023 but is long absent.

Though Baroness Orczy is 7lb better off with MILE END for a 3.5l beating at Naas last time, the latter could uphold that form

This is competitive and only a tentative vote can go to SHOUT, who made a mockery of an opening mark of 83 when recording a commanding victory at Doncaster's St Leger meeting. The son of Advertise, who has been gelded since, is 9lb higher but he should be even better now upped in trip and, with conditions to suit, he might be up to the task. Back In Black holds an Irish Guineas entry and merits respect along with Huscal, who returns in search of a hat-trick having won at Ripon and Thirsk last year.

This competitive 3yo handicap includes several progressive sorts. SPIRIT OF FARHH gets the percentage call, ahead of Back In Black.

BELOW THE RADAR has eased in the weights and gave notice a return to form was imminent when fourth at Uttoxeter. The seven-year-old looks on an attractive mark if right back to his best. Balboa posted an improved effort when third at Wetherby and is worthy of consideration, while Summergrounds had the measure of Benefit Ben (second) when successful at Musselburgh and should remain competitive, with Ella McGarry's allowance negating a large chunk of a 7lb rise.

With the form of his clear second at Huntingdon last month having been strongly franked by the winner, OUT OUT earns the vote.

With a similar performance, he looks tough to oppose. Greenways finished last of the runners that completed over an extended 2m4f here last time and needs to pull out more off a 2lb lower rating. El Rayo is the pick of the remainder.

The most obvious answer is CUBAN COURT (nap), who was raised only 3lb for last month's C&D win.

HOLY SEE was pulled up at Cheltenham last month and would ideally prefer an ease in the ground, but has nice ability and drops in grade. The selection finished fourth at Listed level in France in March 2024 and in his three initial hurdle runs, wasn't beaten far by some smart types. His Naas February race was notably strong as the winner scored at Grade 3 level afterwards, runner-up Murcia landed a Grade 1 win and the third also scored subsequently. The form of Arch Empire's Navan run is working out well although he might struggle to beat an on-song selection. Yoradreamer has been running well enough and can get involved in the placings.

Yoradreamer will be well fancied on the back of two solid efforts but ARCH EMPIRE could be a bit of value

SIR LES PATTERSON returned with something to prove at Wolverhampton, but Harry Eustace's charge bounced back in no uncertain terms to record a comfortable success. He might be more effective on an artificial surface but he's only 1lb higher back on the grass, and the booking of Oisin Murphy catches the eye. Zoulu Chief didn't produce his best at Meydan in the early part of 2024, but ought to fare better returned to home soil for his comeback. Havana Pusey, who went desperately close on her reappearance at Doncaster, is also noted.

If Sir Les Patterson transfers his AW form to turf he'll be hard to beat but it's a big enough 'if' to side with CHANGE SINGS.

Bodygroove's chance had already gone when unseating his rider at Market Rasen last month, but he may be better judged on his success at Wetherby prior. Even so, PUB CRAWL gets the vote. David Pipe's six-year-old showed a lot more when second over C&D in October, finishing over six lengths clear of the third, and he can take full advantage of an unchanged mark. Lawmans Blis is another to consider.

MISSION CENTRAL fetched 625,000gns at the sales last year and the son of No Nay Never, whose dam is a sister to Falmouth winner and 1000 Guineas runner-up Prosperous Voyage, is expected to make an immediate impact. His future does look likely to lie over further and if finding this test too sharp, his stablemate First Approach could be a real threat. Award Ceremony shouldn't be overlooked, especially if there is market confidence behind her, while Leblon Beach appeals most of those with previous experience.

With that in mind, JACK THE SAVAGE gets the nod. The eight-year-old finished a respectable third in a stronger event at Wincanton last time and goes off an unchanged mark. This step up in trip could eke out more and he can regain the winning thread. The Wise Traveller is another to note.

It's nigh impossible to make a solid case for any of these. JACK THE SAVAGE has at least shown some consistency.

EXTRAPOLATION shaped nicely on his recent Flat reappearance and being a dual course-winner, will have had today's race as a target. A four-time winner, he achieved a higher chase rating of 127 last summer and with drying ground in his favour. Handicap debutante Glenashling is a half-brother to Champion Chase winner Special Tiara and showed big improvement when being promoted to winner at Down Royal last month. He wore a first-time hood then and travelled strongly, before eventually being promoted ahead of Walk On The Beach, who possessed a useful level of form. Course-and-distance winner Flidais scored over fences last month and has to be of interest.

Although CHEMICAL WARFARE could never land a blow when finishing seventh in the Eider at Newcastle in February, he makes plenty of appeal dropping to class 4 company. David Pipe's charge is a dual C&D winner and an eighth career victory could be on the cards. Last month's Chepstow scorer Redbridge Rambler warrants respect in his follow-up bid and is feared most, ahead of Hostile Hotelier.

These easier fences should suit HOSTILE HOTELIER who is taken to get off the mark over fences. Redbridge Rambler is next best.

RACHEL'S SECRET returned to form when winning at Clonmel last month. Placed behind capable types in bumpers in 2023, she has gradually progressed this year and scored easily at Clonmel. The six-year-old can better her current rating, while her same rider is able to claim 5lb today. Straight Home has been performing well and it is notable she reverts to a distance over which she is largely unexposed. Willie Mullins' mare is a point-to-point winner who likes good ground, so should get involved. Dual Flat winner Innatendue was well held in a recent maiden hurdle and is winless in 16 races in this sphere.

The son of Champs Elysees may travel with more verve now faced with a stiffer test of stamina and any improvement on his latest third at Fontwell should make him tough to beat. The biggest threat may emerge from Getupearly, who looks the type to react to first-time cheekpieces. Micro Millions completes the shortlist.

Both of IT'S TIME AGAIN's wins have come here so she is likely to be primed for today's seasonal reappearance run. An able type at this grade, she hasn't won since scoring consecutively in May 2022 but had returned to form last autumn and commands the utmost respect. Four-time scorer The Vegas Raider is also a previous course winner and while well held on his latest runs in 2024, he too returns following a winter's break and should also be competitive. Maidens Evans Secret and Klassman have shown form at this level and are suited by summer ground.

Dual course winner IT'S TIME AGAIN was in fine form when last seen and goes well fresh so can tack on another win at this venue.

HOLD ONTO THE LINE has his favoured ground once again and returns to this longer distance with solid claims. A winner over 2m at Newcastle on his penultimate start, he remains fairly treated in this lower grade and boasts stronger form than Pure Surf. The latter opened his account with a victory over 2m4f at Newcastle last week and is penalised 7lb, while Beny Nahar Road didn't get far before falling at Catterick last time, but may prove best of the rest with a clear round.

The mare PURE SURF came back to form to win at Newcastle on Saturday and is taken to follow up by beating Hold Onto The Line.

However, the vote goes to MACADAM'S ROCK, who occupied the runner-up berth over track and trip and his mark has kindly been left alone for that effort. With a repeat performance, he could be the one to beat. Last week's 1m course scorer Bungle Inthedesert is another to keep an eye on.

GLANCE AT MIDNIGHT offered more to work with when finishing fifth in a 16-runner affair at Doncaster in January. The five-year-old sets a clear standard and that race experience could prove crucial. Jamie Snowden has enjoyed a fantastic season with his bumper horses (10-37), so newcomer Lor Express must be monitored in the betting. Fellow debutant Havefunontherun also boasts a pedigree that can make a splash at this level.

It's not hard to risk one of the newcomers and HAVEFUNONTHERUN appeals as a likely type. Lor Express is next best.

Although well beaten in two maidens this year, he nonetheless beat plenty of rivals and showed nice ability from today's same rating at Naas recently. Stealthy Tom is a capable banks' race performer and handicap chaser who is rated a massive 41lb lower in this sphere. That entitles him to huge respect but he was beaten in two handicap hurdles last year and will have bigger spring targets. Ahead Of The Posse reappears in a first-time tongue-tie and while rated 109 over fences, has won just once from 19 runs.

STEALTHY TOM is a much better chaser and has had limited opportunities over hurdles but remains of interest off this mark

Having shown plenty of ability with his debut third over 7f at the Curragh recently, MONKSTOWN makes the most appeal. The son of No Nay Never should have little difficulty with the extra furlong and a breakthrough victory could be on the cards. The biggest threat may emerge in the shape of Minaun View, who is sure to find this easier than the Leopardstown Group 3 she struggled in on her return. Drivers Seat is worth some thought too.

Aidan O'Brien has won six of the last eight renewals of this race and MONKSTOWN is fully entitled to step up on his Curragh run.

FACILE OCEAN debuts for new connections having shown nice ability on his debut in February. The selection is a half-brother to two winners and having been well supported at Naas, wasn't beaten far. The winner of that race was subsequently Listed-placed and that experience will help, as his principal rivals lack experience. Blazing Duke was a 36,000-euro purchase as a two-year-old and is well related, while Grey Gardens's grand-dam was a half-sister to Arc winner Peintre Celebre.

A tentative vote goes to Gavin Cromwell's newcomer BLAZING DUKE, second reserve Springhill Warrior a big threat if getting a run.

However, BERTO RAMIREZ posted a satisfactory eighth on his reappearance at Leopardstown 12 days ago and the combination of a 2lb lower figure and switch to Polytrack could prove the perfect tonic. Ohmali and Ranting And Raven are others to note on their handicap bows.

BERTO RAMIREZ wasn't beaten that far in a big field in his first handicap, he's 2lb lower and he should come on plenty for that run.

DOCTOR GRACE gave the strong impression a return to winning ways was imminent when going close over 1m4f at Bellewstown last weekend. Ado McGuinness' inmate struck off a higher mark on turf last year and is marginally preferred to Flier, who scored over C&D a fortnight ago, when Chopsticks (second) and Tyder (third) filled the places. Master Garvey has improved for the fitting of a tongue-tie and could be on the premises.

TOGETHER ACLAIM is now 2lb below his last winning mark, his yard is in form and if he gets a better start here, he can go close.
