The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
RED CARPET is highly likely to show significant improvement on seasonal debut. She wasn't a factor on her first start at Dundalk in November but, being by Galileo out of a Group 1-winning sprinter (on soft ground), she could be a different proposition on her first venture on turf. She hold a pair of Oaks entries, so should progress as she goes up in trip. Aidan O'Brien is flying with his three-year-olds in the early part of the season. Sibyl Charm has moved to Joseph O'Brien after a deeply promising runner-up berth, beaten by a head, on debut for Johnny Murtagh at Naas in August. She holds an Irish 1,000 Guineas entry and she has a major chance. That Naas run was on better ground and the one caveat is that her sire's progeny haven't shown a fondness for testing ground yet. You Send Me holds the same Guineas entry and can progress from her fifth on debut at the Curragh in September.
SIBYL CHARM possesses much the best form on offer and looks to have been found an excellent opportunity to open her account on her first start for Joseph O'Brien. You Send Me made an encouraging start when fifth in a Curragh maiden last backend and could emerge as the chief threat, with once-raced Red Carpet another to consider for place purposes.
An eyecatcher for Johnny Murtagh at Naas last August, SIBYL CHARM (nap) can make a winning return for her new yard

1st (14) (6/1 +50%) Aggagio |
6/1(+50%) | (14) Aggagio 6/1, Likeable dual purpose performer who struck again over hurdles at Leicester in December. Just third having been well backed in a thin 5-runner contest at Fontwell 3 weeks ago and work to do in this much stronger race.
2nd (8) (14/1 +0%) Castel Gandolfo |
14/1(+0%) | (8) Castel Gandolfo 14/1, Not added to his two wins over 2m early in the 2021/22 season but plenty of good efforts in the meantime, going close off this mark in last year's Final here. Got to be respected back from a break.
3rd (10) (3.6/1 -3%) Bubble Dubi |
3.6/1(-3%) | (10) Bubble Dubi 3.6/1, Belatedly put it all together as he justified strong support in 2m Stratford handicap 4 weeks ago, beating Word Has it by 3 lengths. More to come up 5 lb and this race should be run to suit his striking strong-travelling style. Leading claims.
4th (4) (5.5/1 +45%) Whizz Kid |
5.5/1(+45%) | (4) Whizz Kid 5.5/1, Notched up a third hurdles success and first of the season for in-form yard in extended 2m Doncaster handicap 5 weeks ago, getting up on the line under this rider. Nudged up 2 lb and wouldn't rule out for all this is tougher.
5th (3) (5/1 +17%) Too Friendly |
5/1(+17%) | (3) Too Friendly 5/1, Won 2 juvenile hurdles last season (also fifth in Fred Winter) and has been shaping well in defeat this term, not staying at Kempton (21f, heavy) 3 weeks ago having taken a keen hold. Interesting back over 2m in first-time blinkers.
6th (1) (16/1 +0%) Nayati |
16/1(+0%) | (1) Nayati 16/1, Missed nearly 3 years but returned better than ever, winning 3 times including a good pot at Musselburgh on New Year's Day. Fair runs in competitive handicaps the last twice but this is another hot race.
7th (11) (28/1 -56%) Risk D'argent |
28/1(-56%) | (11) Risk D'argent 28/1, Fair winning hurdler who ran his best race over fences when third at Bangor a fortnight ago. Bit more needed back over the smaller obstacles in a competitive heat but may have more in the locker.
8th (7) (10/1 +9%) Big Boy Bobby |
10/1(+9%) | (7) Big Boy Bobby 10/1, Got off the mark over hurdles in good style at Huntingdon (2m) in December and was just denied in a stronger race at Kempton over Christmas. Shaped as if still in good form after 11 weeks off at Fakenham but needs to step it up a gear to win this.
9th (12) (50/1 -150%) Cousu Main |
50/1(-150%) | (12) Cousu Main 50/1, Landed a second victory at Uttoxeter (2m) in January, landing a gamble with an easy victory. Not so good at Chepstow off revised mark since though and this is even tougher.
|F| (9) (20/1 -11%) Bashful Boy |
20/1(-11%) | (9) Bashful Boy 20/1, Won at Market Rasen last summer and been in top form on the AW Flat in recent months. On a good mark but needs a huge effort to land a race as competitive as this.
|U| (6) (10/1 -11%) Takeit Easy |
10/1(-11%) | (6) Takeit Easy 10/1, Four-time winning hurdler over 2m who hasn't shown his form in 3 outings this season, but has shaped better than the result on a couple of occasions and now been given another helping hand from the handicapper. Interesting.
10th (2) (40/1 -122%) Galice Macalo |
40/1(-122%) | (2) Galice Macalo 40/1, Useful hurdler who posted a career best when impressively winning 10-runner handicap at Chepstow (2m) in January. Excuses back from 7 weeks off behind Bubble Dubi at Stratford last month and should be closer to form here.
11th (13) (11/1 +39%) Fringill Dike |
11/1(+39%) | (13) Fringill Dike 11/1, Won three 2m novice events on the bounce at Hexham last year. Fair runs in Doncaster handicaps the last twice and on a workable mark but this is his toughest assignment to date. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Whizz Kid found the drop in grade to his liking when winning at Doncaster last month, but he may be worth taking on now returned to this higher level. TOO FRIENDLY finished ahead of that rival when fourth at Ascot in February and looks the type who could improve for the application of first-time blinkers. Nayati wasn't disgraced when eighth in the Morebattle at Kelso last time out and is another to note.
Any number to consider in a red-hot renewal of the final of this series but BUBBLE DUBI likely remains ahead of the handicapper after his Stratford success and has good claims in a race that should be run to suit his striking strong-travelling style. Too Friendly is very interesting back over 2m in first-time blinkers, while last year's second Castel Gandolfo is one to note at likely bigger odds.
Bubble Dubi is respected but the now-blinkered TOO FRIENDLY has been running well for a while and he wants this sharper test.

1st (2) (0.44/1 +40%) Inneston |
0.44/1(+40%) | (2) Inneston 0.44/1, French bumper winner. Placed on first 2 hurdle starts for new connections before improving again to edge out a similarly progressive one on his handicap debut at Sandown. Further progress when runner-up both outings since and very much sets the standard.
2nd (1) (2.5/1 -25%) Holetown Hero |
2.5/1(-25%) | (1) Holetown Hero 2.5/1, Progressive in bumpers and also going the right way over hurdles, defying a penalty at the first attempt in a 19f Taunton novice in February. Ran at least as well in defeat attempting to concede weight all around at Newbury just 4 days later and looks sure to make another bold bid.
3rd (7) (80/1 -21%) Giulietta |
80/1(-21%) | (7) Giulietta 80/1, Related to some useful performers in these silks but showed little in a Huntingdon novice hurdle in October 2021 and unseated rider first on Uttoxeter hurdling debut/comeback 3 weeks ago.
4th (3) (5/1 +17%) Milldam |
5/1(+17%) | (3) Milldam 5/1, Fairly useful hurdler who opened his account on the back of a breathing operation/9 weeks off in 9-runner maiden at Huntingdon (15.8f, soft) 24 days ago, kept up to work. Ought to be competitive under a penalty.
5th (9) (40/1 -186%) Call Me Arthur |
40/1(-186%) | (9) Call Me Arthur 40/1, Showed a bit on January's debut at Ffos Las (15.8f) but looked in need of more of a test. Saddle slipped early when pulled up at Taunton 8 weeks later.
6th (10) (66/1 -89%) Only Fools |
66/1(-89%) | (10) Only Fools 66/1, Fair Flat winner in France who was considerately handled when well held on Taunton hurdle debut 9 days ago. Probably one for handicaps further down the line.
7th (6) (250/1 +0%) Wellwillya |
250/1(+0%) | (6) Wellwillya 250/1, Has yet to show any ability.
8th (5) (100/1 +0%) Hobsons Bay |
100/1(+0%) | (5) Hobsons Bay 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden on the level but has made a discouraging start over hurdles.
9th (8) (250/1 -67%) Nowyouvebinandunit |
250/1(-67%) | (8) Nowyouvebinandunit 250/1, Well held completed start over hurdles. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
INNESTON came to win his race before filling the runner-up spot as favourite in handicap company at Newbury, hitting the front two out only to fade late on. He occupied the same position in the EBF Final at Sandown a couple of weeks earlier and is rated 1lb inferior to Holetown Hero here, but is in receipt of 8lb when factoring in Niall Houlihan's 3lb claim. Huntingdon winner Milldam looks best placed to chase them home.
INNESTON shaped really well in a warmly-contested handicap at Newbury 2 weeks ago and, with the timefigure supporting the performance, he's very much the one to beat. Holetown Hero and Milldam are the obvious threats.
This looks a decent chance for INNESTON to register a second hurdling success.

CHIKETTO's third place in a maiden over this trip in the Curragh at the end of last season reads well. He could make no impression on the winner, however, that horse came out and won again last month and is viewed as a potential Group horse. Something Nice has shown a real aptitude for slower ground and built upon a pair of fourth places in October when finishing second in a 20-runner maiden at the Curragh in March. He is a contender. Semblance Of Order was badly hampered in a valuable handicap at Naas and couldn't recover. He makes this a competitive race. Heartrate is another who is race fit from two placed efforts in Dundalk. He handled heavy ground over 5f at this track in the autumn and looks set to give his backers a good run. Passionate is a newcomer to monitor in the market. She is related to plenty of winners.
While several of these have already shown ability, newcomers ZARAGOZA, Passionate and Neowise are likely-looking types and may well come to the fore in this maiden. They are preferred in that order, with Zaragoza, who fetched €200,000 as a yearling, especially appealing on paper. Of those with experience, Heartrate could be the pick but Something Nice is also a player, while Semblance of Order would be a threat if reproducing his peak 2-y-o form and Chiketto is open to improvement.
Quite an open maiden but SOMETHING NICE has pretty solid credentials and gets the vote

1st (2) (9/1 -20%) Finn's Charm |
9/1(-20%) | (2) Finn's Charm 9/1, Won 7f maiden here on second start and made frame in Chesham Stakes on next outing. Failed to beat a rival on last 2 outings though, so now has good deal to prove.
2nd (8) (8.5/1 +15%) Gincident |
8.5/1(+15%) | (8) Gincident 8.5/1, Improver this winter, winning 3 times on AW, most recently when landing 4-runner handicap (13/2) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 43 days ago. Showed form on turf last summer so looks hard to rule out with the benefit of race fitness on his side.
3rd (6) (4/1 +0%) Lion Of War |
4/1(+0%) | (6) Lion Of War 4/1, Ready winner of a 7f Leicester maiden on debut and followed up in impressive fashion at Newcastle in June. Finished last season withcreditable third of 8 in nursery at Doncaster (7f, heavy) and he's shortlisted.
4th (1) (12/1 -71%) Captain Winters |
12/1(-71%) | (1) Captain Winters 12/1, Lightly-raced winner. 15/2, bit below form 8¾ lengths fifth of 9 to Local Dynasty in listed race at Pontefract (8f, good to soft). Off 173 days. Cheekpieces on 1st time. No chances taken with opening mark but he's from a top family.
5th (5) (8.5/1 +39%) Pol Roger |
8.5/1(+39%) | (5) Pol Roger 8.5/1, Won minor events at Haydcok and Thirsk last August before running a fine second at Ayr on nursery debut. Clearly not 100% on his final outing last term, so isn't fully discounted if ready to roll after 6 months off.
6th (7) (5.5/1 +45%) Metahorse |
5.5/1(+45%) | (7) Metahorse 5.5/1, Recorded successive victories in July, winning 3-runner event on nursery debut at Thirsk (7f). In-and-out after but his best form at 2 yrs would see him in the mix.
7th (4) (22/1 -22%) Chillhi |
22/1(-22%) | (4) Chillhi 22/1, Two wins from 6 runs last year, both on AW. 16/1, well-beaten last of 9 to Local Dynasty in listed race at Pontefract (8f, good to soft). Off 173 days. Needs a couple of these to falter.
8th (9) (3/1 +25%) Dumfries |
3/1(+25%) | (9) Dumfries 3/1, Well supported and showed improved form when easily winning 12-runner maiden at Southwell (8.1f, 6/1) 30 days ago. Opening mark looks potentially lenient and he's much respected.
9th (3) (7/1 -27%) Manitou |
7/1(-27%) | (3) Manitou 7/1, Won at Chepstow and Bro Park last season but underperformed when bidding to complete hat-trick in listed race at Chantilly (7f, good to soft). Viable excuses there, so could get back on the up making handiap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Captain Winters was last seen finishing a disappointing fifth in Listed company at Pontefract in October and should not be ruled out down in grade. However, DUMFRIES made a pleasing return from a short break when scoring over this trip at Southwell last month, and the fact he was only denied by a neck at Brighton on his latest turf run has to make him of interest. Manitou completes the shortlist.
A highly-competitive three-year-old handicap, in which recent Southwell maiden winner DUMFRIES is fancied to follow up from that decisive success on handicap debut. Gincident has enjoyed a productive winter and merits respect back on turf, with Lion of War narrowly making most appeal of those returning from winter breaks.
Last year's Chesham fourth FINN'S CHARM represents a stable that has an excellent record in this race. Chillhi is feared most.

12/1(+0%) | (7) Balranald 12/1, Successful over fences at Sedgefield in winter 2021 but has largely struggled since, finishing well held back over hurdles after a breathing operation at Wetherby (16f, soft, 16/1) last month. Tongue tie back on but tough to fancy.

The fact that HOUI CHERIE was able to score by 15 lengths over 2m4f at Ffos Las on her latest outing has to make her of interest here, even though she must shoulder top weight for her handicap debut. Dr Shirocco is feared most on the basis that he has performed well for second over fences the last twice and gets in here under a light weight. Danny The Fence rates best of a modest remainder.
HOUI CHERIE bolted up in a Ffos Las maiden last month and may well be capable of better now handicapping. Dr Shirocco and Danny The Fence can battle out minor honours.
It could be worth taking a chance on BAGHDAD CENTRAL despite two disappointing runs this time. Houi Cherie should also go well.

1st (8) (4.5/1 -13%) Golden Glance |
4.5/1(-13%) | (8) Golden Glance 4.5/1, Fair form in minor events on the Flat for Simon & Ed Crisford, stays 1½m. Sold for 35,000 gns in November and has shaped with some encouragement on both starts over hurdles, though was flattered by her proximity to the easy winner at Huntingdon latest.
2nd (2) (2.25/1 -20%) Global Famenglory |
2.25/1(-20%) | (2) Global Famenglory 2.25/1, Fair hurdler who shaped well after 11 months off when second in 7-runner handicap at Huntingdon (20.7f, good to soft) 68 days ago, clear of remainder. The one to beat on that form.
3rd (1) (4.5/1 +50%) All The Glory |
4.5/1(+50%) | (1) All The Glory 4.5/1, Showed fair form in bumpers and shaped as if better for the run sent hurdling when fifth of 9 at Worcester (2m) on her return in October. Proved a disappointment when pulled up at Hereford next time but was possibly amiss and may fare better now returning from a break.
4th (4) (4.5/1 -13%) La Gomera |
4.5/1(-13%) | (4) La Gomera 4.5/1, Successful on her sole outing in points and showed plenty to work on when runner-up on her Doncaster hurdling debut (19.4f) in November. Failed by a long chalk to repeat that effort at Ludlow a month later but could get back on track after a break.
5th (7) (5/1 +17%) Pass The Love On |
5/1(+17%) | (7) Pass The Love On 5/1, Showed fair form when runner-up on second outing in bumpers and having had a breathing operation, offered something to work on sent hurdling after 14 months off when fifth at Wetherby (2m) in February. Ran to only a similar level when runner-up at Huntingdon since, though.
6th (6) (9/1 +36%) Our Friend Mo |
9/1(+36%) | (6) Our Friend Mo 9/1, €7,000 3-y-o, £68,000 4-y-o, Mahler mare. Dam lightly raced in bumpers/over fences. Third sole start in Irish points (Oct 2022). Must be respected on Rules debut.
7th (3) (80/1 -100%) Heneryetta Bay |
80/1(-100%) | (3) Heneryetta Bay 80/1, Won her sole start in Irish points but has shown little both starts under Rules. Needs this run for a handicap mark.
8th (5) (40/1 -186%) On Cloud Nine |
40/1(-186%) | (5) On Cloud Nine 40/1, Runner-up on the second of 2 starts in points but ran to just a poor level making Rules debut in a Musselburgh bumper 15 days ago. Upped in trip for hurdle bow. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
GLOBAL FAMENGLORY found only a progressive rival too good at Huntingdon in January and she looks to have been found a good opportunity to get off the mark. La Gomera will need to put her Ludlow disappointment in December behind her, but Alex Hales' mare cannot be ruled out judged on her penultimate effort at Doncaster. Golden Glance arrives in good heart and completes the shortlist.
GLOBAL FAMENGLORY shaped well from an unpromising position after 11 months off when runner-up in a 7-runner handicap at Huntingdon in January and has to be considered the one to beat on that piece of form. Golden Glance was grossly flattered by her proximity to the easy winner at Huntingdon last time but is clearly going the right way, while La Gomera is worth another chance back from a break having split two subsequent winners on her Doncaster hurdling debut before disappointing at Ludlow.
There should be a big run in LA GOMERA if she can recapture the form of her second at Doncaster. Her Ludlow effort is best forgotten.

FLAMBOROUGH and Canal End were only separated by a length when filling the places behind Western Comandor at Down Royal last month. The selection stayed well on the Flat for Mark and Charlie Johnston winning over 1m6f at Catterick last autumn and is entitled to progress from his hurdle debut over this longer trip. Canal End has an experience advantage with three hurdle runs now under his belt. Point-to-point winner Zaidi easily landed a Thurles bumper last month and looks the pick of Gordon Elliott's three runners, while Gold Bullion won a Warwick bumper for Paul Nicholls but now reappears after an absence of over two years.
It was hardly a deep bumper ZAIDI won at Thurles last month, but it was hard not to be impressed with how he came clear for merely a shake of the reins, so he's fancied to follow up on his hurdle debut, especially with the step up in trip promising to suit. Flamborough and Mint Boy head the opposition in an interesting maiden.
ZAIDI looked like a nice prospect when bolting up in a Thurles bumper and the point winner should also relish this longer distance

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KAP CHIDLEY struck the woodwork on his handicap/chase debut at Chepstow and Tim Vaughan's charge is fancied to go one better with further improvement on the cards. Begin The Luck finished a distant third at Wincanton on Wednesday but he ought to have learnt from that experience, and Bradley Roberts' 7lb claim should aid his cause further. Master Mikey Dee heads the remainder.
KAP CHIDLEY made a very promising start over fences at Chepstow 3 weeks ago and is hard to get away from here with the prospect of more to come. Begin The Luck could be the danger.
Despite top weight, it is hard to escape the claims of KAP CHIDLEY.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
AUSSIE GIRL is race fit after a recent fourth place in a fillies' maiden at the Curragh. She attracted support and that wasn't a bad effort. The form of her third place at Dundalk in November appears strong. She gets a first-time hood after running freely in the Curragh. Rochester Mike has a creditable second in a big-field maiden at the Curragh in the book. He will handle cut in the ground and has claims. Tiymara was last seen finishing runner-up in a nursery at Leopardstown in October, when headed inside the final furlong after leading throughout. She drops back a furlong and can go well. The ground is an unknown for Karaoke but if market support arrives, it would be significant. Coco Hill and The Snapper cannot be ruled out.
Lots with chances but the verdict goes to AUSSIE GIRL who made an encouraging return when fourth at the Curragh, despite going freely, and could take a sizeable step forward now fitted with a hood on her handicap debut. Tiymara has a 175-day lay-off to overcome but figures on a good mark so is feared most ahead of Dundalk-third Rochester Mike who also starts out in handicaps with more to offer.
AUSSIE GIRL and Queenie St Clair were fourth and fifth in a recent Curragh maiden and the former can confirm those placings.

1st (7) (3.5/1 +53%) Gweedore |
3.5/1(+53%) | (7) Gweedore 3.5/1, 3-time C&D winner (including this race) who enjoyed a productive 2022 gaining third success at Ayr (1m) in September. 22/1(-22%) | (10) Gioia Cieca 22/1, C&D winner who produced something of a standout effort last term when fourth in 10-runner Haydock handicap (7f) 12 months ago. Well held all 5 starts thereafter but had wind op ahead of return to action and interesting what the market makes of her.
4th (5) (3.5/1 +36%) The Gatekeeper |
3.5/1(+36%) | (5) The Gatekeeper 3.5/1, Low-mileage 4-y-o who made light of a 20-month absence (also gelded) when making a winning handicap debut at Newcastle (7f) in March and matched that with good fifth in Spring Mile at Doncaster last weekend. Clearly hit the ground running this term and likely he can go well again.
5th (4) (7/1 +18%) Northern Express |
7/1(+18%) | (4) Northern Express 7/1, Good second from 6 lb lower mark in this race 12 months ago and progressed again thereafter, landing big-field York handicap (7f) in June. Creditable efforts in defeat thereafter and claims on return if getting the breaks.

7th (2) (12/1 +25%) Fools Rush In |
12/1(+25%) | (2) Fools Rush In 12/1, Likeable type who regained winning thread at Chester (7.6f) in July and run with credit on 3 of last 4 starts for Hugo Palmer last term, latterly when 1½ lengths fourth of 8 to Autumn Festival in a C&D handicap in October. Fancied to give a good account starting out for new yard.
8th (11) (8/1 -14%) Bling On The Music |
8/1(-14%) | (11) Bling On The Music 8/1, Low-mileage 4-y-o who (on back of being gelded/wind op) opened his account in an 11-runner Leicester novice (7f) in October, produced to lead final 1f and forging clear. Widest draw to contend with on return but type to make his mark in handicaps.
9th (9) (9/1 -13%) Dirtyoldtown |
9/1(-13%) | (9) Dirtyoldtown 9/1, Fairly useful performer on his day but he didn't prove the easiest to predict last season but he can have his reappearance effort in the Spring Mile last week overlooked (disadvantaged by the run of the race). Not one to write off given he remains low-mileage.
10th (6) (10/1 -82%) Autumn Festival |
10/1(-82%) | (6) Autumn Festival 10/1, Good advert for his yard, typically determined when gaining seventh handicap success of last year when landing 8-runner C&D handicap on final outing in October. Career-high mark/wide draw to contend with on return but his attitude is a smashing attribute.
11th (12) (33/1 +0%) Jilly Cooper |
33/1(+0%) | (12) Jilly Cooper 33/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in January. Shaped better than bare result when sixth of 7 in handicap back at that venue (7.2f) 12 days ago. Still, more needed back on turf. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Even though Gweedore is now rated 7lb higher than when winning this last year, he can confirm form with the reopposing Northern Express. AUTUMN FESTIVAL arrives on a six-timer, though, and gets the vote. He beat Abduction (second) on his latest run here and, though Jim Goldie's charge is respected now 2lb better off at the weights, the gut feeling is that the selection will improve again this year. Bling On The Music is another worthy of a market check.
ABDUCTION made a fine start for Jim Goldie in the autumn, landing back-to-back handicaps at Ayr before finishing an unlucky second behind re-opposing Autumn Festival over C&D on his final start. Evidently still on a good mark, he shades the vote to make a winning return, with Dirtyoldtown, whose Doncaster reappearance is easily overlooked, and The Gatekeeper just a couple of likely threats.
Preference is for GWEEDORE who won this race last year and the 5lb claim of the highly talented Billy Loughnane is a major plus.

4.5/1(+0%) | (2) Everyday Champagne 4.5/1, Surpassed hurdle form when making a winning chase debut at Doncaster on reappearance in November. Good second there last time but seemed unsuited by drop back to this trip at Musselburgh on penultimate start.
3rd (5) (16/1 -14%) Sputnik |
16/1(-14%) | (5) Sputnik 16/1, Off the mark over fences at Hexham last spring and had bit in hand when making a winning reappearance at Ayr in October. Just respectable efforts at best since, however, and others make more appeal.
4th (3) (5/1 +23%) Storm Tiger |
5/1(+23%) | (3) Storm Tiger 5/1, Point winner has taken well to fences, good third of 9 in handicap at this course (20f, soft) 13 days ago, faring best of those held up. Needs considering.
5th (7) (7/1 +50%) Azof Des Mottes |
7/1(+50%) | (7) Azof Des Mottes 7/1, Modest hurdler who showed aptitude for chasing when fourth at Kelso 35 days ago. Likely to improve on that, so no forlorn hope.
6th (8) (20/1 +0%) Eveque |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Eveque 20/1, Good efforts on his first 2 starts over fences but well below par since. Mark on the slide at least.
7th (1) (4/1 -14%) Lisloran |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Lisloran 4/1, Back-to-back Ayr winner in November/December and resumed winning ways at Newcastle 10 days ago. Shortlisted.
8th (4) (125/1 -942%) Edmond Dantes |
125/1(-942%) | (4) Edmond Dantes 125/1, Essentially disappointing over hurdles and well held on debut for this yard after 16 months off. Makes chase debut. Headgear on.
9th (10) (5.5/1 -10%) Moonacura |
5.5/1(-10%) | (10) Moonacura 5.5/1, Still a maiden and not the easiest to catch right, though left chase debut effort well behind when close second at Hexham 9 days ago.

10th (13) (40/1 +39%) Bannside |
40/1(+39%) | (13) Bannside 40/1, Poor form over hurdles and hasn't looked any better in this sphere following 5 attempts. 5 lb out of weights.
|PU| (9) (40/1 -264%) Shanbally Rose |
40/1(-264%) | (9) Shanbally Rose 40/1, Off the mark in 7-runner handicap chase at Perth in September. Placed next 2 starts but needs to shrug off a below-par run at Musselburgh. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Only denied by half a length when sent off favourite over an extended 1m7f at Hexham last week, a stiffer stamina test looks set to suit MOONACURA on this occasion and it could well pay to side with the Stuart Coltherd-trained six-year-old off 3lb higher. Lisloran has to be of interest following an emphatic win at Newcastle, while Everyday Champagne is another to bear in mind.
STORM TIGER has taken well to fences, faring by far the best of those ridden from off the pace when third here 2 weeks ago, so could be the answer. Recent Newcastle winner Lisloran is another to consider, while Get Going was a close third off this mark at Hexham.
The vote goes to LISLORAN, who made it 3-6 over fences with his front-running win at Newcastle. Storm Tiger is feared most.

4.5/1(+18%) | (15) Jeffery's Cross 4.5/1, Maiden hurdle winner (at 21f) who has made a promising enough start over fences, runner-up all 3 starts, finding only a progressive sort too good at Fontwell on Boxing Day. Off since but remains unexposed.
2nd (2) (18/1 -13%) Frenchy Du Large |
18/1(-13%) | (2) Frenchy Du Large 18/1, Dual 2½m winner last year and back to form at Taunton last 2 starts despite making mistakes. Headgear goes on now and not taken lightly.
3rd (14) (12/1 +33%) Ladronne |
12/1(+33%) | (14) Ladronne 12/1, Wetherby winner in the autumn and added to his tally at Catterick in November. Decent runner-up efforts 2 of next 4 starts, including at Wetherby 18 days ago. Should give another good account.
4th (7) (14/1 +0%) Tim Pat |

5th (3) (11/1 +31%) Morning Spirit |
11/1(+31%) | (3) Morning Spirit 11/1, Confirmed promise of his reappearance when opening chase account at Carlisle (24.5f) in November. Mixed record since, though latest 7¾ lengths third of 9 to Mucho Mas at Sandown was decent. 5 lb better off with winner here.
6th (13) (8/1 +43%) Planned Paradise |
8/1(+43%) | (13) Planned Paradise 8/1, Winner at Worcester last summer and good second at Perth next time but just respectable efforts at best since. More needed back from a break.
7th (12) (4.5/1 +50%) Feivel |
4.5/1(+50%) | (12) Feivel 4.5/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser who made a winning start for the Stuart Edmunds yard in a Wetherby handicap in February. Bettered that form when second at Sandown but let down by jumping when strong in the betting at Wetherby last week. Headgear applied and worth another chance.
8th (4) (25/1 -108%) One True King |
25/1(-108%) | (4) One True King 25/1, Followed Market Rasen reappearance success with a couple of inauspicious displays but has worked his way back to form this year, respectable third at Kempton (20.5f, heavy) 21 days ago. Back up in trip.
9th (10) (11/1 -10%) Small Present |
11/1(-10%) | (10) Small Present 11/1, Useful stayer over hurdles and produced best effort over fences when third in 27.6f Market Rasen handicap on Boxing Day. Good chance on that form but has disappointed both starts since.
10th (5) (50/1 -52%) I See You Well |
50/1(-52%) | (5) I See You Well 50/1, Enjoyed a productive 2021/22 campaign and returned to form when seeing off 5 rivals at Sandown in December. Creditable fourth next 2 starts but probably just too high in the weights at present.
|PU| (8) (6.5/1 +0%) Enqarde |
6.5/1(+0%) | (8) Enqarde 6.5/1, Landed the Tommy Whittle here off 3 lb higher last season but well held all 4 starts this term.
|PU| (6) (8.5/1 +39%) Neon Moon |
8.5/1(+39%) | (6) Neon Moon 8.5/1, Progressive over hurdles last season, winning 3 times, and has taken well to fences without winning. Extra distance not sure to suit.
|PU| (9) (16/1 +11%) Sam Barton |
16/1(+11%) | (9) Sam Barton 16/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser who was better than ever when making winning return to action at Worcester (23f) in October. Back to that level when third at Newton Abbot last month but others look better treated.
|PU| (11) (40/1 -100%) Tide Times |
40/1(-100%) | (11) Tide Times 40/1, Back-to-back winner at Ludlow last season and again hit the target at this venue in a 6-runner handicap (25.6f, soft) in January. Held back by jumping both starts since, however, and this looks too competitive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
MUCHO MAS defied an 80-day absence to win at Sandown last month and a 4lb rise may not prevent him from completing a hat-trick. Neon Moon has yet to win over fences in six attempts, but he has plenty of solid form to his name and can be expected to be in the mix once more. Frenchy Du Large shouldn't be inconvenienced by this drop in distance and also merits respect.
MUCHO MAS has much improved since upped in trip, scoring at Lingfield and Sandown on his last 2 starts, and remains one to keep on the right side of as he bids for the hat-trick. The unexposed Jeffery's Cross is next best ahead of Feivel, who looked progressive prior to his unseat at Wetherby.
It's easy to fancy a few, notably Mucho Mas and Feivel. However, course specialist ENQARDE has become temptingly treated.

1st (1) (18/1 +10%) Annamix |
18/1(+10%) | (1) Annamix 18/1, Fairly useful chaser. Course winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2020. Fell in hunter chase at Gowran (25f, heavy, 14/1) 28 days ago won by Ferns Lock. Hard to fancy.
2nd (2) (3/1 +0%) Billaway |
3/1(+0%) | (2) Billaway 3/1, Useful chaser. Eight wins from 22 NH runs. 2 wins from 4 runs this season. Blinkered for 1st time, fell in Festival Challenge Cup at Cheltenham last time. Solid claims if his jumping holds up.
3rd (4) (0.36/1 +10%) Ferns Lock |
0.36/1(+10%) | (4) Ferns Lock 0.36/1, Promising individual. Course winner. Completed hat-trick in 6-runner hunter chase (1/4) at Gowran (25f, heavy) 28 days ago, plenty in hand. Should be up to landing the fourt-timer
4th (3) (14/1 +36%) Er Dancer |
14/1(+36%) | (3) Er Dancer 14/1, Fairly useful chaser. Course winner. 3/1, fourth of 7 in hunter chase at Down Royal (19.6f, soft) 22 days ago. Up in trip. Needs to improve.
|PU| (5) (50/1 -100%) Vis Ta Loi |
50/1(-100%) | (5) Vis Ta Loi 50/1, Fairly useful hurdler for Willie Mullins. Successful on last of 7 starts in points (Mar 12). Returns to Rules in a tough race. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
FERNS LOCK is an exciting sort and can stretch his unbeaten record to seven in point-to-points and hunter chases. The David Christie-trained gelding decisively beat Its On The Line (second at Cheltenham last month) here earlier this season, with Er Dancer back in third, and was equally impressive when slamming Billaway at Thurles. He coped with testing ground when long odds-on last time in the Tetratema Cup at Gowran where Annamix was well held when falling at the last. Billaway's eight wins under rules include the Cheltenham Festival last year and hopefully he's none the worse from a fall when bidding for a repeat last month. Er Dancer gained his sixth point-to-point win when beating Vis Ta Loi at Oldtown in February and appears best of the remainder.
FERNS LOCK has been hugely impressive in this sphere and a four-timer looks more than likely. Billaway is the obvious danger and Vis Ta Loi is the pick of the remaining trio as he returns to Rules.
Although Billaway may well get closer to FERNS LOCK (nap) than he did in January, it's hard to see him turning around the form

1st (6) (1.88/1 +16%) Ramo |
1.88/1(+16%) | (6) Ramo 1.88/1, Runner-up in a 4-y-o hurdle on sole start in France (fair form) and gradually found his feet for present yard, justifying good support to open his account (with bit in hand) at Plumpton (25f) in March. Rider's claim off-sets rise in weights and he's worth considering again.
2nd (3) (14/1 -100%) Premier D'troice |
14/1(-100%) | (3) Premier D'troice 14/1, Capitalised on a much-reduced mark when landing a Uttoxeter handicap chase (26f) last June. Largely below that level this winter but bit more like it having eased again in weights when third at Taunton (28.4f) in March. Returns to timber now.
3rd (4) (3.5/1 -17%) Barrier Peaks |
3.5/1(-17%) | (4) Barrier Peaks 3.5/1, 7-y-o whose form has taken off since going up in trip in handicaps this year, completing 4-timer with good bit to spare at Uttoxeter (20f) in February. Latest second at Chepstow was another solid effort and no surprise to see him feature again despite career-high mark.
4th (1) (2.5/1 +25%) Iberio |
2.5/1(+25%) | (1) Iberio 2.5/1, Bumper winner who has improved over hurdles equipped with cheekpieces, winning with any amount in hand in 4-runner Taunton handicap (23.9f) 9 days ago. That was a weak race
5th (5) (10/1 +60%) Bobo Mac |
10/1(+60%) | (5) Bobo Mac 10/1, Veteran who was useful at his best and confirmed he still has plenty to offer when scoring readily at Chepstow (23.6f) in November. Hasn't been able to reproduce that effort in 3 subsequent starts but connections now reach for the visor which could perk him up.
6th (7) (80/1 -142%) Itsaboutime |
80/1(-142%) | (7) Itsaboutime 80/1, Caused a shock when making a winning return from lengthy absence in Exeter handicap back in spring 2021 but seen only twice since and he finished well held back from 10 months off at Fontwell (25.7f) in March. No easy task on from out of weights here.
|PU| (2) (7/1 -27%) Carlow Farmer |
7/1(-27%) | (2) Carlow Farmer 7/1, Displayed more positive signs when third at Fontwell (25.7f) on his penultimate start and duly confirmed as much when grinding it out from the front at Uttoxeter (23.3f, heavy) 7 days ago, tackled from 3 out and finding extra. Conditions fine but not sure to be in same form here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A host of in-form rivals head to post in what looks an open contest, with marginal preference is for IBERIO. The six-year-old bolted up at Taunton last week and though it wasn't much of a race, his ability to handle testing conditions could give him the upper hand. Ramo essentially runs off the same mark as for his recent Plumpton success, when factoring in Ned Fox's 7lb claim, and he looks set to go well again. Barrier Peaks has been highly progressive this season and may not be done with just yet.
RAMO justified good support when opening his account for the Venetia Williams stable at Plumpton 26 days ago, and with potential for better still over staying trips, he earns the vote to follow up. That said, Barrier Peaks has thrived himself in handicaps and is feared, along with top-weight Iberio.
Nothing appeals more than the unexposed RAMO (nap), who should have plenty more to offer.

16/1(-60%) | (10) Cheers Again 16/1, Career best when winning 14-runner handicap at Dundalk (8f, 5/6) 94 days ago. 19lb higher now so this clearly asks a different question back on turf but he was thriving when last seen.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SAN AER ran an absolute stormer in fourth, for a 33/1 shot, in the Irish Lincolnshire over 1m at the Curragh. He has winning form over 7f and slower ground suits him very well. All Lies Ahead appears to be a filly with a bright future. She is now two from four including when obliging over the same trip on seasonal reappearance at Leopardstown on Wednesday. Hotrocket won at Fairyhouse for John Murphy and was beaten by a neck into second on his first start for Joseph O'Brien at Dundalk in November. There is more to come from him on handicap debut. Vocal Studies was outgunned by a comfortable winner in Naas, but he did finish in a clear second. Trip and ground are ideal for him. Secret Magician is capable of showing up well on his return to action.
VOCAL STUDIES ran a cracker on his return at Naas last month and remains low mileage. He gets the nod. Hotrocket and Independent Expert head the list of dangers.
Plenty of in-form runners proven on the ground, notably INDEPENDENT EXPERT now back to her optimum trip

Even though Vintage Clarets disappointed over this trip at Doncaster on his latest outing in October, that was arguably the result of a long season and he can bounce back returning from a break. He is still rated 7lb above his last winning mark, though, so SILKY WILKIE is marginally preferred. A drop in trip following a tiring finish at Wolverhampton over 6f last time out looks set to suit the gelded son of Mehmas. Catch Cunningham is another to note.
THE BELL CONDUCTOR arrives on the back of a good effort and he has a fitness edge over the bulk of his rivals, so he could be the answer to this wide-open sprint handicap. Came From The Dark is one to note down in grade and it would come as no surprise were Vintage Clarets to up his game on seasonal debut.
The hold-up horse Water Of Leith a tempting option at big odds but preference is for three-time C&D winner MAKANAH.

3/1(+33%) | (4) Largy Shark 3/1, Failed to progress in a trio of bumpers but looked a useful prospect when making a winning hurdles debut in a novice at Ayr (19.5f) in November, leading before last and quickening clear. Has more to come after his break. Player.
2nd (1) (2.75/1 +31%) Fly By Milan |
2.75/1(+31%) | (1) Fly By Milan 2.75/1, Well-bred sort who showed fair form when placed all 4 starts in bumpers in 2020-21 and was all the better for his comeback/hurdling debut when off the mark in 8-runner maiden at Hexham (20.1f) 23 days ago. Open to further improvement.
3rd (9) (250/1 -25%) Izzy Bell |
250/1(-25%) | (9) Izzy Bell 250/1, Well beaten in bumpers and pulled up both starts over hurdles. Easily passed over.
4th (2) (1/1 +28%) Grain d'Oudairies |
1/1(+28%) | (2) Grain d'Oudairies 1/1, Showed promise in his only bumper and looked a good prospect sent hurdling when easily landing 9-runner maiden at Bangor (16.7f) in November. Sure to go on to better things.
5th (5) (9/1 +10%) Busty Boy |
9/1(+10%) | (5) Busty Boy 9/1, Successful on 3 of his 4 starts in Irish points and achieved more than previously under Rules when second in 5-runner C&D novice 13 days ago. That was a weak affair, however.
6th (10) (28/1 -40%) Lunar Glow |
28/1(-40%) | (10) Lunar Glow 28/1, Shaped like a stayer in bumpers and it's been a similar story both starts over hurdles.
7th (8) (50/1 -100%) Navigate West |
50/1(-100%) | (8) Navigate West 50/1, Hinted at ability on the first of 2 outings in bumpers and did the same sent hurdling at Wetherby 18 days ago but probably won't be of interest until handicaps.
|PU| (6) (150/1 -127%) Eagle Watch |
150/1(-127%) | (6) Eagle Watch 150/1, Eagle Top gelding. Half-brother to 2 point winners. Dam (c80/h76) maiden hurdler/chaser. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A case can be made for several of these, including Grain D'oudairies, who bolted up over an extended 2m at Bangor when last seen in November. It is likely there is more in his locker, but LARGY SHARK showed his appreciation for the rise to this sort of trip when getting off the mark at Ayr and he is marginally preferred. His stablemate Langdale Lane adds further spice to the mix, as does Fly By Milan.
An interesting race of its type. GRAIN D'OUDAIRIES looked potentially useful when making a winning hurdling debut in a good time at Bangor back in November and is open to plenty of improvement, so he's selected to defy a penalty. Fly By Milan scored with a bit up his sleeve at Hexham and warrants respect, as does Largy Shark, who quickened clear in fine style at Ayr.
An interesting novice hurdle. GRAIN D'OUDAIRIES created a good impression at Bangor in November and make it 2-2 in this sphere.

3.33/1(+17%) | (4) Itso Fury 3.33/1, Succesful over 21f on his first two starts over hurdles in the autumn and made an eye-catching return from 12 weeks off when patiently-ridden third in 3m Ascot handicap last time. Remains unexposed at this trip and rates a big player for yard which has an excellent record in this event.
6th (8) (16/1 +27%) Apple Rock |
16/1(+27%) | (8) Apple Rock 16/1, Completed his hat-trick at Taunton (3m) in December and not disgraced back from a break when sixth at Ascot last time. One for the shortlist.
7th (5) (7.5/1 -7%) Hyland |
7.5/1(-7%) | (5) Hyland 7.5/1, Dual hurdles winner last spring but only twice raced since, nonetheless posting a good second of 7 in handicap at Newbury (24.2f, good to firm) 36 days ago. No forlorn hope for top yard.
8th (6) (28/1 +15%) Midnightreflection |
28/1(+15%) | (6) Midnightreflection 28/1, Resumed winning ways at Doncaster in February and not disgraced when third of 6 in handicap hurdle at Plumpton (25f, soft) 26 days ago. Not discounted.
9th (15) (16/1 +27%) Halifax |
16/1(+27%) | (15) Halifax 16/1, Gained a deserved first success at Exeter (23f) in February and backed it up with a solid fourth under a 7 lb penalty in 3m Newbury handicap last month. Likely to give another good account of himself.
10th (13) (125/1 -279%) Bold Soldier |
125/1(-279%) | (13) Bold Soldier 125/1, Arrived on the up but tongue tied and came in last of 4 on his handicap debut at Market Rasen (23.1f, heavy) 18 days ago. Still low mileage so he shouldn't be written off yet.
11th (14) (20/1 +0%) Sirobbie |
20/1(+0%) | (14) Sirobbie 20/1, Scored over 25f at Huntingdon last May but he's been largely below par since, only fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (26f, soft) 27 days ago. Others appeal more.
12th (7) (40/1 -21%) Burrows Park |
40/1(-21%) | (7) Burrows Park 40/1, Landed 23f handicap hurdle at Exeter in January and not disgraced since, ridden too aggressively when seventeenth in Pertemps at Cheltenham 23 days ago. Can give another good account.
13th (11) (4/1 +27%) Farmer's Gamble |
4/1(+27%) | (11) Farmer's Gamble 4/1, Took his form up a notch when back to winning ways in 11-runner handicap hurdle at Exeter (23.1f, soft) 66 days ago, staying on strongly. Hiked up 9 lb but still holds solid claims.
|PU| (2) (18/1 -80%) Docpickedme |
18/1(-80%) | (2) Docpickedme 18/1, Arrives on a hat-trick after landing 3m handicaps at Southwell and Doncaster this winter. Up 6 lb and this is tougher so he needs another step forward.
|PU| (9) (33/1 -106%) Pileon |
33/1(-106%) | (9) Pileon 33/1, Winless since 2021 and he came in only tenth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Newbury (20.5f, good to firm) 35 days ago. Cheekpieces are left off now and he needs to get back on track. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
ITSO FURY shaped better than the bare result when third at Ascot in February and, with that form working out well, Jonjo O'Neill's charge makes most appeal. Docpickedme has proven to be a revelation since being switched back to hurdles this season and a 6lb rise for his victory last time at Doncaster should see him remain competitive. Apple Rock finished just under four lengths behind the selection in sixth when last seen and he isn't taken lightly.
Jonjo O'Neill has landed this event three times in the past five years and his unexosed stayer ITSO FURY teed himself up perfectly for a bold showing when an eye-catching fifth at Ascot so gets the vote. Dan Skelton's Farmer's Gamble is feared most on the back of his emphatic Exeter success despite being clobbered with a 9 lb rise, with in-form duo My Bobby Dazzler and Burrows Park completing the shortlist.
Jonjo O'Neill targets this race having won three of the last five renewals and he has another live contender in ITSO FURY (nap).

0.44/1(+0%) | (1) Allegorie De Vassy 0.44/1, Landed first 4 starts upon joining Willie Mullins, readily landing pair of Grade 2 chase contests this season. Ran right up to best when runner-up to Impervious in Mares' Chase at Cheltenham last month and this looks a good opening for her.
3rd (4) (2.75/1 +21%) Limerick Lace |
2.75/1(+21%) | (4) Limerick Lace 2.75/1, Quickly developed into a useful chaser, landing novice/handicap events at up to 20f prior to good second in Naas Grade 3 last month, albeit flashing tail under pressure. No doubting she has the ability to play a part.
4th (2) (25/1 -108%) Broomfield Hall |
25/1(-108%) | (2) Broomfield Hall 25/1, Useful chaser. Course winner. 3 wins from 4 runs this season. Pulled up in Gr 2 chase at Limerick (22.6f, heavy, 7/2) 101 days ago won by Allegorie De Vassy, pulled up before 2 out. On a roll prior to that and bounce back not ruled out returning from a break.
5th (6) (40/1 +39%) Sit Down Lucy |
40/1(+39%) | (6) Sit Down Lucy 40/1, Useful chaser. 40/1, below form ninth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (19.6f, heavy) 98 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Switches from hurdles to chase.
6th (5) (50/1 -100%) Motown Maggie |
50/1(-100%) | (5) Motown Maggie 50/1, Fairly useful chaser. 3/1, career best when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Navan (20.4f, good to soft) 35 days ago. More on her plate back up in grade.
7th (7) (40/1 +0%) Time To Rocco |
40/1(+0%) | (7) Time To Rocco 40/1, Fair hurdler who made it first time lucky over fences under a confident ride to land a Thurles mares' maiden chase (18f) 3 weeks ago, third jumping last and staying on to lead final 50 yds. Better to come in this sphere but this is a tough ask. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
ALLEGORIE DE VASSY has taken really well to fences this term and should regain the winning thread. The Willie Mullins-trained mare was a Grade 3 winner here last season over hurdles and was pitched in the deep end over fences winning her first two starts both at Grade 2 level in Limerick and Thurles. She lost little in defeat when runner-up to Impervious at the Cheltenham Festival last month. Limerick Lace looks the chief threat having progressed nicely over fences to win a valuable handicap at Naas before filling the runner-up spot behind Journey With Me in a Grade 3 at the same venue. Instit has a C&D win to her credit this year and is preferred to Sit Down Lucy and Motown Maggie.
ALLEGORIE DE VASSY ran right up to her best when runner-up to Impervious in the Mares' Chase at Cheltenham last month, and with potential for better still over fences, she can capitalise on the return to calmer waters here. Limerick Lace has made a bright start herself over fences and rates a big threat, ahead of the returning Broomfield Hall.
In receipt of 8lb, Limerick Lace has a chance against ALLEGORIE DE VASSY but it will be surprising if the latter is turned over

6/1(+20%) | (3) Knight In Dubai 6/1, Useful hurdler/chaser but he's not proving the easiest to catch right this term, remote fourth in handicap chase at Warwick (20f, good to soft) 43 days ago. Winless since 2019.
4th (2) (3/1 -140%) Le Ligerien |
3/1(-140%) | (2) Le Ligerien 3/1, Hasn't looked back since having breathing surgery and switching yards this term, cosily completing his hat-trick in 2m Newbury handicap last month. Up another 7 lb but veteran is still the one to beat.
5th (6) (9/1 +0%) Mister Watson |
9/1(+0%) | (6) Mister Watson 9/1, Inconsistent over hurdles and he followed his 2m4f maiden chase win at Warwick with poor effort at Uttoxeter three weeks ago. Needs to get back on track.
|PU| (5) (3.33/1 +49%) Foxboro |
3.33/1(+49%) | (5) Foxboro 3.33/1, Bounced back to his best in 8-runner handicap chase at Newbury (22.4f, soft) 15 days ago. He needs to back it up now off a 6 lb higher mark.
|PU| (1) (7.5/1 +46%) Iceo Madrik |
7.5/1(+46%) | (1) Iceo Madrik 7.5/1, Useful chaser in France for David Cottin but he offered little on his yard debut when pulled up in Ultima at Cheltenham 25 days ago. This is easier but he still has something to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
LE LIGERIEN has been a revelation since joining the Joe Tizzard yard and the step up in trip should not inconvenience him as he attempts to bring up the four-timer on ground he relishes. Iceo Madrik didn't cut much ice on his UK debut in the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival, but better can be expected now. Foxboro is another leading contender on the back of a determined success at Newbury last month.
LE LIGERIEN has thrived under the tutelage of Joe Tizzard and a 7 lb rise for his cosy Newbury success doesn't look sufficient to prevent him from bagging a four-timer here. Nocte Volatus continues to run well and rates a solid place prospect ahead of recent Newbury scorer Foxboro.
Although this trip asks a question of him, it is still worth siding with LE LIGERIEN again.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Moss Tucker has run well fresh before and was impressive on his last start when powering three and three-quarter lengths clear of the field in Listed class at the Curragh in October. He is a big player on this ground. Preference is for TENEBRISM, though. She is rated 6lb superior to Moss Tucker and receives 3lb from him under the conditions of this race. A couple of years ago, she won the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket before being stepped up in trip. She switched back to 6f in a Group 1 at Ascot in October and wasn't beaten far into fifth. In effect, this is a drop in class for her. She holds a Group 2 entry for York next month. My Eyes Adore You holds a three-figure rating and was runner-up in Listed company on her last start. Wodao and Wave Machine will be eyeing prize money.
There should be more to come from TENEBRISM over this sort of trip and she can make a winning return. Moss Tucker looks the obvious danger on form, whilst My Eyes Adore You can also make her presence felt.
A dual Group 1 winner, including over this trip, TENEBRISM sets a high standard and can successfully defy a 5lb penalty.

18/1(-13%) | (1) Outbox 18/1, 6/1, third of 5 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f), having run of race. Off 126 days. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
A progressive stayer throughout last season, SPIRIT MIXER looks to have been found a decent opportunity on his return to action with conditions in his favour. His runner-up effort in last year's Northumberland Plate appeals as the strongest form on offer and he is preferred to course specialist Wise Eagle, and November Handicap winner Metier, who may need a bit more cut in the ground. The unexposed Good Show is of interest on his handicap debut, while Emiyn and Onesmoothoperator cannot be ruled out either.
This can go to SPIRIT MIXER, who really progressed last year and reappears off a handy mark. Wise Eagle and Pleasant Man head the list of dangers.
Such a good race would not normally be the first thought for a handicap debutant but GOOD SHOW (nap) is very much a horse to follow.

4/1(+27%) | (6) Grand Voyage 4/1, Progressive, dual winner over hurdles who improved to make second chase start a winning one at Ayr (20.5f) in November. Held form well in defeat since and should make presence felt again.
3rd (4) (4/1 +27%) Galop De Chasse |
4/1(+27%) | (4) Galop De Chasse 4/1, Bagged a couple of small field handicap chases in 2021/22 and opened account for this campaign at Hereford (16f) in January. Solid second at Wincanton (15.7f, good to soft) latest and remains fairly treated.
4th (1) (7/1 -17%) Cornerstone Lad |
7/1(-17%) | (1) Cornerstone Lad 7/1, Smart hurdler who opened his chase account at Wetherby 15 months ago (from 8 lb higher). Performed creditably on 3 of his 4 starts this winter and must enter calculations here.
5th (9) (7/1 -27%) You Say Nothing |
7/1(-27%) | (9) You Say Nothing 7/1, Posted best effort over fences when narrowly taking 6-runner handicap at Market Rasen (17.2f, soft) 18 days ago. 5 lb higher now but is another to consider.
6th (5) (5.5/1 -120%) Champ De Gane |
5.5/1(-120%) | (5) Champ De Gane 5.5/1, Would have run out an easy winner at Ayr (16.5f, good) last month but for coming down at the final fence. 7 lb higher now but remains low mileage in this sphere.
7th (7) (4.5/1 +47%) The King Of May |
4.5/1(+47%) | (7) The King Of May 4.5/1, Fairly useful chaser who returned to form, refitted with cheekpieces, when second of 5 in handicap chase at Market Rasen (19.2f, soft) 10 days ago. This is more competitive but he can't be ruled out.
|PU| (3) (18/1 -100%) Saint Arvans |
18/1(-100%) | (3) Saint Arvans 18/1, Likeable type who has taken well to chasing this season, winning 3 times. Looked likely victor again when falling late on at Wetherby (19.4f, good to firm) when last seen in October but has career-high mark to defy on return now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
Galop De Chasse found only an unexposed chaser too strong when filling the runner-up spot at Wincanton but though he's worthy of consideration eased 1lb in the handicap, CORNERSTONE LAD edges the vote. Micky Hammond's stable stalwart was far from disgraced in a 0-135 contest at Haydock last time out and from 8lb below his last winning mark and in slightly calmer waters, he can defy top weight. The King Of May is another to consider.
CHAMP DE GANE was in full control when departing at the last at Ayr last month and it's possible we haven't seen the best of him yet. He is taken to score. Galop de Chasse heads the list of dangers.
Top of the list is CHAMP DE GANE, who is unexposed in this sphere and was 10l clear when falling at the last at Ayr last month.

1st (6) (6/1 +8%) Stylish Moment |
6/1(+8%) | (6) Stylish Moment 6/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser at best for Eoin Doyle. Positive start to this season when a close third at Carlisle (24.5f) in October. Not built on that effort in handful of starts since but he can't be discounted in a race where majority have something to prove.
2nd (10) (6/1 +79%) Special Acceptance |
6/1(+79%) | (10) Special Acceptance 6/1, Infrequent winner (1-21) who has finished well held all 3 starts over fences upon returning from a lengthy absence this year, no chance from 5 out when fifth in 7-runner Warwick handicap (25.5f) 17 days ago.
3rd (8) (7.5/1 +12%) D'Jango |
7.5/1(+12%) | (8) D'Jango 7.5/1, Recorded his third victory of the season at Lingfield (28.8f) last month but failed to back that up when fourth at Exeter (30.7f) next time. Latest run in Midlands National best overlooked (faced stiff task) but he isn't the easiest to predict overall.
4th (3) (4/1 -167%) Domaine De L'Isle |
4/1(-167%) | (3) Domaine De L'Isle 4/1, Tumbled down the weights and finally took advantage (in refitted blinkers) when landing small-field Chepstow marathon contest 16 days ago. That was a weak race but he holds claims from 3 lb higher in another trappy affair.
5th (7) (6/1 +14%) Achille |
6/1(+14%) | (7) Achille 6/1, Plenty of good staying handicap form to his name over the years but failed to make an impact for some time despite his mark easing plenty. plodding on for third behind Domain De L'isle at Chepstow (30.6f) 16 days ago.
|F| (9) (5.5/1 +45%) Ballinslea Bridge |
5.5/1(+45%) | (9) Ballinslea Bridge 5.5/1, Runner-up on return at Huntingdon and duly went one better at Market Rasen (3m, soft) in December, ending a losing run of almost 5 years. Disappointed next 2 starts but more like it when runner-up at Wincanton (25.1f) 12 days ago, headed last and no extra. Each-way claims.
|PU| (1) (5.5/1 +21%) Cobolobo |
5.5/1(+21%) | (1) Cobolobo 5.5/1, Winless since 2020 and essentially become disappointing, forcing pace and folding from 3 out when last seen at Ayr (3m) in December. Handicapper has relinquished his grip at least and fact he's gone well fresh in past is a plus. Market may guide.
|PU| (4) (11/1 +21%) West Approach |
11/1(+21%) | (4) West Approach 11/1, Irresolute performer who's been in and out this season and he again found very little when eighth in 9-runner veterans' chase at Wincanton (25f) 12 days ago. Likely best to look elsewhere.
|PU| (5) (50/1 -25%) Finawn Bawn |
50/1(-25%) | (5) Finawn Bawn 50/1, Bumper/useful dual novice hurdler winner earlier in career but seen only 3 times since spring 2019, pulled up over fences/hurdles during 2021/22 campaign. Clearly tough to assess on belated return/yard debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DOMAINE DE L'ISLE bounced back to form with the blinkers refitted at Chepstow recently and another bold bid looks on the cards off only 3lb higher. Ballinslea Bridge wasn't disgraced when runner-up at Wincanton last week and Harriet Dickin's gelding should not be ruled out in this similar contest, while you can also make a decent case for Achille, who has dropped to a very attractive mark.
Chepstow-scorer DOMAINE DE L'ISLE will be the one to beat if turning up in the same form, with Stylish Moment and Cobolobo a couple of others that could get involved.
None of these veterans scores highly for reliability these days but DOMAINE DE L'ISLE produced the most persuasive recent performance.

6/1(-50%) | (1) Mars Harper 6/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2021. Seventeenth of 23 in handicap chase at Cheltenham Festival (20.6f, soft, 50/1) 23 days ago. Worth another chance back in much calmer waters.

|PU| (6) (50/1 -150%) Stansfield |
50/1(-150%) | (6) Stansfield 50/1, One win from 25 NH runs. 18/1, creditable second of 10 in handicap chase at Navan (17f, heavy), no match for winner. Off 13 months. Up in trip. Market should reveal expectations. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MARS HARPER never got involved in the Plate at Cheltenham last month but on overall form may prove the one to beat. The selection won twice over hurdles and, while a frustrating sort to follow over fences, has plenty of placed form including in a Grade 2 novice at Punchestown earlier this season. He was only headed close home by Lieutenant Command in a valuable handicap at Leopardstown on his penultimate start. Charlie Stout has turned back the clock this year finishing second to Stumptown at Thurles and gaining a sixth career win when beating Darver Star at Wexford last week. Routine Excellence also comes here in good form having scored over a similar trip at Thurles, while the JP McManus pair Fighting Fit and Gain De Cause are others to consider.
MARS HARPER found the Plate too competitive at the Cheltenham Festival and is worth another chance back in much calmer waters. Gain de Cause ran his best race over fences when fourth at Navan last time and remains with potential in this sphere on hurdles form, while Charlie Stout responded well to a change of tactics when making all at Wexford last week.
MARS HARPER will find this easier than his latest assignment at Cheltenham and had been in good form prior to his run at the Festival

2nd (5) (8/1 -23%) Knowwhentoholdem |
8/1(-23%) | (5) Knowwhentoholdem 8/1, Fairly useful 17f bumper winner who shaped with some encouragement, after 16 months off, when third in novice at Exeter (16.7f, good to soft) on hurdles bow last month. Not in same form at Ascot since but it's still early days in this sphere.
3rd (1) (8/1 +84%) Bampton Star |

|PU| (11) (125/1 +38%) Sweet Saffron |
125/1(+38%) | (11) Sweet Saffron 125/1, Well held in a pair of bumpers and failed to beat a rival on hurdles debut at Fontwell last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Runner-up to a pair of decent Paul Nicholls inmates on two of his three starts under Rules, this appeals as a gilt-edged opportunity for WESTERN GENERAL to get off the mark. Red Notice won a point-to-point recently and is now in the hands of Christian Williams so is one to watch, while Knowwhentoholdem was promising in bumpers and it is too soon to write him off, despite a couple of ordinary efforts in this sphere.
It's hard to look past WESTERN GENERAL, who upped his game when second at Taunton last month and likely has more to offer yet. Point-winner Red Notice may prove most dangerous on his NH debut, particularly if the market vibes are strong, whilst Knowwhentoholdem can also make his presence felt.
This should go to WESTERN GENERAL, the only runner with any substantial hurdling form.

Aidan O'Brien's ALABAMA is a half-brother to a sprinter who won at Group 1 level and holds obvious claims under Ryan Moore. This No Nay Never newcomer was the subject of a positive report in a recent stable tour. Sturlasson showed plenty of speed in the first juvenile maiden of the season at the Curragh. He blazed the trail before running green and was headed a furlong out by what looked a smart winner. Crucially, that run confirms that he handles slow ground. He holds an entry in the Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury. Paddy Twomey takes the wraps off Noche Magica and he is well able to have one ready on debut. Thia and Port Louis merit a market check.
ALABAMA and Noche Magica both make plenty of appeal on paper and it will be interesting to see how they shape up in the betting. As things stand, preference is for the Aidan O'Brien-trained Alabama. Sturlasson made a positive start to his career when runner-up at the Curragh a fortnight ago and is likely to have a say, too.
Having been highly spoken of by his legendary trainer recently, ALABAMA is expected to make a winning debut

A chance is taken on SERGEANT WILKO, who is by a sire known for breeding sharp sprint types and his stable are no strangers to having first-time-out winners either. A costly purchase at the sales, Treasure Storm is likely to be forward on debut for the powerful Amo Racing team, while Balon D'or makes appeal on pedigree being by Kodiac out of a Requinto mare. Blue Prince can also have a say in proceedings, being one of the first progeny of multiple Group 1 winner Blue Point.
TREASURE STORM makes plenty of appeal on paper being out a sister to the French Group 1 winning sprinter Signs of Blessing and she represents connections who went close to landing the Brocklesby at Doncaster a week ago. The filly is taken to make a winning debut, with Balon d'Or and Yorkshire Terrier two of the other more likely types in the line-up.
Dominic Ffrench Davis saddled the Brocklesby runner-up last Saturday and TREASURE STORM is taken to make a winning debut.

6.5/1(-18%) | (5) Aazza 6.5/1, Bolted up in a 3m conditional jockeys' event at Doncaster in January and while she was held off this 13 lb higher mark when fourth at Newcastle next time, it was probably the fast ground rather than the hike in the weights that ultimately made the difference. Possibilities back on slow ground here.

CURLEY FINGER bounced back to form when winning over 3m at Musselburgh a couple of weeks ago and Rebecca Menzies' six-year-old, who remains unexposed, could have more to offer from a 5lb raised mark. Court Dreaming was last seen winning over the larger obstacles here and remains fairly treated judged on his peak hurdles form. He must go on the shortlist along with Yellowstone Park, who has Brian Hughes on top for the first time.
HARIBO COLLONGES took a step forward when third upped to 20.6f on his latest start at Market Rasen and, with the potential to do better still now faced with an even stiffer test, he is taken to make a winning start for the Patrick Neville yard. Cases can also be made for the majority of his rivals, not least the 11-y-o Captain Zebo, who has been given a real chance by the handicapper, while Aazza and Yellowstone Park are others with decent claims.
The vote goes to CURLEY FINGER (nap) who was a brave winner over 3m at Musselburgh and is still unexposed in staying handicaps.

3.5/1(-5%) | (3) Some Scope 3.5/1, Irish point winner who has shown fair form over hurdles, fourth of 10 at Carlisle (17f) last time. This stiffer test promises to suit now handicapping and he's not discounted, for all that he a step forward is certainly required.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In an open event, a chance is taken on SOME SCOPE, who was taken out of two intended runs on account of soft ground last month, so connections will be hopeful that isn't the case here. A point-to-point winner in May last year, he ought to relish a step up in trip on his handicap bow. Others to note include Marty Time, Here Comes The Man and Aldsworth.
MARTY TIME readily opened his account at Hexham last time and this extra distance holds no fears for him, so he's preferred to Here Comes The Man, who is also lightly raced. Some Scope looks an interesting handicap debutant up in trip.
There's 4f more today but MARTY TIME drew nicely clear over 2m4f on heavy ground last time and has run well in his only two handicaps.

VERDANT PLACE has really progressed since stepped up in trip and can complete a hat-trick. The Pat Foley-trained gelding overcame a mistake at the last to score at Punchestown and followed up at the same venue over an extended 2m7f. A 10lb rise makes life more difficult but the booking of a useful claimer helps to ease the burden. Favori De Champdou completed a hat-trick when taking a Grade 2 over this distance at the Limerick Christmas meeting, with Harry Des Ongrais back in third, but spoiled his chance by running too freely in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. Seabank Bistro ran too bad to be true in the same Grade 1 and both could easily bounce back here. Western Walk scored in good style on his first start for Jonathan Sweeney after a nine-month break, while others to consider include Landrake and Hardy Bloke.
VERDANT PLACE has improved with each run since being switched to handicaps and can complete the hat-trick with further progress likely. Seabank Bistro is worth another chance on handicap bow having been outclassed in the Albert Bartlett last time, with Western Walk another to consider after an impressive debut win for this stable.
FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU disappointed at the Festival but had previously looked smart when winning a Grade 2 and he's on a good mark

6/1(+33%) | (6) Dysania 6/1, Maiden hurdler/chaser who was pulled up at Hexham last time. Had previously shown signs of encouragement and he's not long with this yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
KYM EYRE may have found the drop to an extended 2m5f against her when third at Taunton and Evan Williams' mare, who found only one too strong over 3m at Ffos Las prior to that, can show her appreciation for this return to a stiffer test. Galop Du Bosc bounced back to form with a creditable runner-up effort at Chepstow and he's feared most with the tongue-tie and blinkers retained. Kings Krackertara wasn't far behind in fourth on that occasion and completes the shortlist.
GALOP DU BOSC bounced back to form in first-time blinkers and a tongue strap at Chepstow last time and, in quite a weak race, he makes most appeal. Kings Krackertara is an obvious threat if she can build on her latest effort, and first-time cheekpieces look a plus for Kym Eyre.
The suggestion is KINGS KRACKERTARA who stayed on nicely over 3m last time and may have more to come at this trip.

HARRY'S HILL is a five-time winer over the minimum distance and has form on all types of ground. He rattled up a hat-trick last term before finishing third on heavy terrain at Navan and showed up well for a long way on his comeback at the Curragh. Sounds Of Spring is a spring/autumn campaigner with a preference for testing ground. A winner on heavy ground at the Curragh in October, he also shaped well on his return to action when third at Naas last month. Dual C&D winner Screen Siren has a recent all-weather run under her belt. She has plenty of form on easy ground and, even though out of the handicap, is still only 3lb higher than her last winning mark.
A tricky sprint handicap that can go to SOUNDS OF SPRING, who should have come on for his Naas return and will be right at home again under the conditions. Screen Siren is respected back at the scene of her 2 wins, while Harry's Hill is another to consider.
A chance is taken on ALJADY off a falling mark with blinkers replacing cheekpieces. He ran well enough on his recent seasonal debut.

16th (2) (40/1 -300%) Leodis Dream |
40/1(-300%) | (2) Leodis Dream 40/1, Resumed winning ways in a 12-runner handicap at Ripon (5f, good, 13/2) on final run of last season. Back up 6 lb and may prove vulnerable here following a 6-month break. Yard also saddles Vadamiah and James Watt. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The value may lie with LADY LADE, who was unlucky when narrowly denied by the reopposing Havagomecca (first) over C&D in October last year. The booking of Kevin Stott catches the eye and, off a light weight, she may have too much for recent Doncaster winner Ey Up It's Maggie, and Leodis Dream, who finished last season with a convincing success at Ripon. Black Friday and Le Beau Garcon are capable of being in the shake-up as well.
PRIMO'S COMET notched his sixth success over this C&D on his latest visit here last summer and, now 10 lb below that winning mark, he makes plenty of appeal on the back of some eye-catching recent efforts on the all-weather. Vadamiah would have been even higher on the shortlist but for being drawn widest of all and, under the circumstances, Ey Up It's Maggie, who made a winning reappearance at Doncaster last weekend, is feared most. Le Beau Garcon is also worth a second look.
Le Beau Garcon and James Watt are considered but PRIMO'S COMET should appreciate the return to this C&D.

Didn't do much wrong when second upped to 23.4f at Kelso the following month and he's a key player back down in trip here.
5th (9) (12/1 -20%) Knocknamona |
12/1(-20%) | (9) Knocknamona 12/1, Resumed winning ways at Newcastle in January and followed up over this C&D a month later. Came up short in a Class 2 handicap back here recently and while that race wasn't run to suit, he's probably worth taking on.
6th (6) (4/1 +11%) Operation Overlord |
4/1(+11%) | (6) Operation Overlord 4/1, Winner of a handicap hurdle at Ayr in November 2021 and appears to be gradually finding his feet over fences, not seen to best effect when fourth back at Ayr last time. Eased 2 lb since and he remains open to improvement in this sphere.
7th (10) (20/1 -11%) Victory Echo |
20/1(-11%) | (10) Victory Echo 20/1, Now 5 lb below last winning mark and produced his best effort for a while when third in a 6-runner Musselburgh (20.3f, good to soft) handicap last month. Not without each-way hope.
8th (8) (11/1 +21%) Dawn Raider |
11/1(+21%) | (8) Dawn Raider 11/1, Successful over C&D and at Leicester last term but has failed to scale those heights so far this season. Others preferred.
|PU| (5) (4/1 +38%) Paddy The Horse |
4/1(+38%) | (5) Paddy The Horse 4/1, Point winner who won maiden and handicap hurdle at Hexham in the autumn. Creditable efforts both completed starts in this sphere, most recently finishing third of 10 over C&D, and he's in with an each-way shout.
|PU| (7) (14/1 +36%) Wild Polly |
14/1(+36%) | (7) Wild Polly 14/1, Fairly promising novice hurdler a few seasons back and there were positives to glean from her second run following a lengthy absence when fourth in a handicap at Ayr (24.3f, soft) in February. This former point winner is worth a second look now switched to fences.
|PU| (11) (14/1 +44%) Contre Ordre |
14/1(+44%) | (11) Contre Ordre 14/1, Fairly useful chaser in France but yet to fire on these shores and hopes now pinned on the first-time cheekpieces working the oracle. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The Nicky Richards stable is in fine form and this looks like an ideal opportunity for TFOU to continue the good run as he returns to a more suitable trip, having been outstayed over further at Kelso last time out. A determined winner over C&D on his penultimate start, Knocknamona can uphold form with Paddy The Horse (fourth), while Operation Overlord must enter the equation as well.
OPERATION OVERLORD and Tfou, both of whom have low mileage, could be the pair to concentrate on. The latter is likely to appreciate dropping back in trip here after finishing second over 23.4f at Kelso and he is greatly respected. However. the vote goes to Lucinda Russell's charge, who left the impression that he could be about to come good in this sphere when fourth at Ayr in February and is lurking on a potentially handy mark. Chasing debutante Wild Polly is best of the rest.
In a tricky race MAID O'MALLEY is chosen to gain her first win of the season on her second run since wind surgery.

1st (6) (3.33/1 +49%) Fazayte |
3.33/1(+49%) | (6) Fazayte 3.33/1, Made third start over fences a winning one when narrowly taking Market Rasen handicap (19.2f) in December and has proved admirably consistent over hurdles since. Remains fairly treated and may be capable of better in this sphere. Cheekpieces back on.
2nd (7) (3/1 +10%) Croagh Patrick |
3/1(+10%) | (7) Croagh Patrick 3/1, Back-to-back winner over fences in March of 2022 and returned to form when second of 9 in handicap chase at Carlisle (20f, soft, 11/2) 13 days ago. Likely player off same mark.
3rd (5) (8/1 +6%) Cremant |
8/1(+6%) | (5) Cremant 8/1, Won an Aintree handicap hurdle (20f) last June and largely run with credit in defeat over fences since. However, well below par when last seen at Uttoxeter in September and is still looking for his first win over the larger obstacles.
4th (4) (7/1 +30%) Spark Of Madness |
7/1(+30%) | (4) Spark Of Madness 7/1, Winning start over fences at Perth (2m) last May and improved upped to this trip when doubling his chase tally in 4-runner Newcastle handicap in November. Far from disgraced off this mark at Ayr subsequently and must enter calculations.
5th (2) (7/1 -17%) O'connell |
7/1(-17%) | (2) O'connell 7/1, Winner of sole completed start between the flags and showed promise in 3 starts over hurdles, latest when fourth of 13 in novice at Southwell (20.4f, good to soft) 33 days ago. Warrants respect on chasing bow.
|F| (3) (5/1 -50%) Upagainstit |
5/1(-50%) | (3) Upagainstit 5/1, Runner-up sole start in Irish points and improved on his hurdles form when making a winning start in this sphere at Warwick (16.2f, soft) last month. Just 3 lb higher now and may have more to offer yet.
|PU| (1) (6.5/1 -30%) Hold Onto The Line |
6.5/1(-30%) | (1) Hold Onto The Line 6.5/1, Had wind op before completing his hat-trick on chasing debut at Musselburgh (20.3f) in November. However, possibly amiss when last of 4 (back from 3 months off) at same course since and percentage call is to look elsewhere. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
UPAGAINSTIT made an immediate impact when sent over fences for the first time, recording a narrow success at Warwick, and a 3lb rise in the handicap could prove lenient given it's unlikely that we've seen the best of him. Croagh Patrick continues to run well in defeat and he merits a place on the shortlist, along with the consistent Fazayte.
CROAGH PATRICK bounced back to form at Carlisle last time and figures off a handy mark. He gets the nod in what looks a competitive finale. Upagainstit and Fazayte are feared most.
A trappy finale with all seven worthy of consideration. FAZAYTE was a winner on his final run over fences in December.

1st (14) (3.5/1 +30%) Risk Belle |
3.5/1(+30%) | (14) Risk Belle 3.5/1, 10/1, good neck third of 21 to Jazzy Matty in Boodles Juvenile hurdle at Cheltenham (16.4f, soft) 25 days ago. Has to be taken seriously.
3rd (7) (16/1 -60%) Horantzau D'airy |
16/1(-60%) | (7) Horantzau D'airy 16/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time, second of 13 in novice hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft, 5/6) 33 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut.
4th (3) (22/1 -120%) Magnor Glory |
22/1(-120%) | (3) Magnor Glory 22/1, Steadily progressive 7-y-o who surpassed previous form to land Listowel handicap (2m) in September, deserving of extra credit given he came from further back than other principals. Absent since but he may yet have more to offer on that evidence.
5th (4) (14/1 +0%) Tax For Max |
14/1(+0%) | (4) Tax For Max 14/1, Latest win in hurdle at Punchestown in November. Eighteenth of 26 in handicap hurdle at Cheltenham (21f, soft, 40/1) 24 days ago. Back down in trip.
6th (11) (14/1 +0%) Captains Nephew |
14/1(+0%) | (11) Captains Nephew 14/1, Gambled on, much improved when winning 18-runner novice hurdle (17/2) at Clonmel (16f, heavy) 51 days ago, pushed out. More on his plate switched to a competitive handicap but it remains early days with him.
7th (6) (50/1 -150%) Power Of Pause |
50/1(-150%) | (6) Power Of Pause 50/1, Latest win in hurdle at Punchestown in December 2020. Creditable sixth of 24 in handicap hurdle back at that venue in spring 2021. Unlikely to be lacking for fitness given connections and the market may prove a useful guide on belated return.
8th (16) (8/1 -14%) Ballybawn Belter |
8/1(-14%) | (16) Ballybawn Belter 8/1, Career best when winning 22-runner handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (17.7f, good to soft, 16/1) 62 days ago, driven out. Open to further progress.

4/1(+60%) | (8) The Big Doyen 4/1, Promising sort. 13/2, 21¾ lengths last of 5 to Hunters Yarn in listed hurdle at Navan (16f, good to soft) 55 days ago, left poorly placed. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Looks competitive on form.
10th (10) (11/1 +45%) Hey Johnny |
11/1(+45%) | (10) Hey Johnny 11/1, Latest win in hurdle at Thurles in January. 4/1, good 5 lengths third of 18 to Little Mixup in handicap hurdle at Naas (15.5f, good to soft) 41 days ago. Present mark within reach on that evidence and he's not out of things.
11th (2) (9/1 +0%) Da Capo Glory |
9/1(+0%) | (2) Da Capo Glory 9/1, Bumper/maiden hurdle winner and similar form in defeat both starts since, fourth in Grade 3 Red Mills Trial at Gowran in February. Remains open to improvement now handicapping and he's one to consider.
12th (13) (28/1 -12%) Little Mixup |
28/1(-12%) | (13) Little Mixup 28/1, 3 wins from 7 runs this season. Respectable fifth of 14 in handicap hurdle (7/1) at Navan (16f, heavy) 19 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals.
13th (12) (7.5/1 -25%) Jazzy Matty |
7.5/1(-25%) | (12) Jazzy Matty 7.5/1, C&D winner. 2 wins from 5 runs this season. 18/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, career best when winning 21-runner Boodles Juvenile hurdle at Cheltenham (16.4f, soft) 25 days ago, staying on to lead dying strides. Big shout again if this doesn't come too soon.
14th (9) (40/1 -21%) Wajaaha |
40/1(-21%) | (9) Wajaaha 40/1, Flat/hurdles winner for Charles Byrnes late last year and better than bare result when seventh in Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso (16.2f) in March. Ran poorly back on the level at Navan later that month and bounce back called for now.
15th (1) (28/1 -133%) Shanroe |
28/1(-133%) | (1) Shanroe 28/1, C&D winner. 8/1, respectable second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Ascot (15.7f, good to soft) 141 days ago, keeping on run-in. Each-way claims with a repeat.
16th (15) (80/1 -60%) Vultan |
80/1(-60%) | (15) Vultan 80/1, Useful winner at 12f on Flat who built on hurdles debut effort to land Gowran maiden (2m) in October 2021 (final start for Joseph O'Brien). However, well held all 3 starts for this yard, 40 lengths thirteenth of 18 to Little Mixup in handicap hurdle at Naas (15.5f) 6 weeks ago.
|DQ| (5) (8/1 +33%) Monbeg Park |
8/1(+33%) | (5) Monbeg Park 8/1, Latest win in hurdle at Punchestown in November. Very good second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (20f, heavy, 16/5) 22 days ago, keeping on to pull clear of remainder. Up 3 lb in what rates a stronger affair but he remains low-mileage. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
RISK BELLE was a well-backed favourite for the mares' handicap hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival but came down at halfway. She looked the likely winner of the Fred Winter at Cheltenham on her next start but was run out of things up the hill. A dual winner in France before joining Willie Mullins, she's clearly on a competitive mark. Fred Winter hero Jazzy Matty is reunited with Michael O'Sullivan and meets the selection on the same terms so has to enter calculations again. Ballybawn Belter got a 10lb hike for winning the aforementioned mares' handicap at Leopardstown but gets to race off a feather weight in this stronger contest with another in-form claimer in the saddle. Hey Johnny has been running well since winning at Thurles in January and all four of his wins have come at right-handed tracks.
This could well go to one of the 4-y-os with RISK BELLE narrowly selected to come out on top. Third behind re-opposing Jazzy Matty in last month's Boodles Juvenile at the Cheltenham Festival, she was arguably deserving of extra credit having come from off the pace to briefly take up the lead and there should be more to come on the back of just 6 starts. Aforementioned Jazzy Matty rates a big threat however, along with The Big Doyen and Da Capo Glory.
WAJAAHA ran well for a long way in the Morebattle when last seen over timber and his subsequent Flat run is best ignored

1st (7) (8/1 +80%) Pak Army |

2nd (2) (5.5/1 +73%) Talimar Pearl |

3rd (8) (9/1 +36%) Zillion |
9/1(+36%) | (8) Zillion 9/1, Little impact so far over hurdles. Not disgraced on the Flat at Wolverhampton last time but hard to make a case for returning to this sphere.
4th (5) (11/1 +31%) Coconut Twist |
11/1(+31%) | (5) Coconut Twist 11/1, Unplaced in points and just poor form to date in this sphere, respectable sixth at Taunton last time. Needs to up his game.
5th (6) (4.5/1 -13%) Shaw's Cross |
4.5/1(-13%) | (6) Shaw's Cross 4.5/1, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap chase at Plumpton (17f, good to soft) in January solid efforts in defeat since. Likely to be on the premises in a weak affair.
6th (9) (22/1 -38%) Daany |
22/1(-38%) | (9) Daany 22/1, Modest 1m winner on Flat. Poor form so far over hurdles and was beaten a long way out in a handicap at Taunton last time. Others make more appeal.
7th (10) (5/1 +41%) Agent Empire |
5/1(+41%) | (10) Agent Empire 5/1, Fairly useful on Flat in Germany but lightly raced and hard to enthuse about given his efforts over hurdles for current yard.
8th (11) (12/1 +40%) Demothi |
12/1(+40%) | (11) Demothi 12/1, Placed in points but no better than poor form under Rules so far, so needs to up his game.
9th (3) (4/1 -33%) Good Time Ahead |
4/1(-33%) | (3) Good Time Ahead 4/1, Looked better than ever when easily winning a 12-runner handicap hurdle at Lingfield (2m) in February. Not disgraced since, including on the Flat last time, and makes plenty of appeal in a thin race.
|PU| (12) (10/1 +75%) Loudspeaker |
10/1(+75%) | (12) Loudspeaker 10/1, Fair maiden on Flat (stays 1½m) and sold from Michael Bell 50,000 gns in July. Yet to match that over hurdles and faces a stiff task from out of the weights. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Good Time Ahead wasn't quite at his best when fourth on rain-affected going at Plumpton last month and the nine-year-old, who subsequently made the frame on the all-weather, would make more appeal on ground quicker than he's likely to experience here. With that in mind, SHAW'S CROSS, who arrives in good form over fences, should have no issues reverting to the smaller obstacles and shades the vote. The lightly-raced Agent Empire took a small step forward at Sedgefield and is another to consider.
GOOD TIME AHEAD is in good order and this race lacks depth, so he looks like the most solid proposition. Tik Tok is a likely improver on handicap debut and a return to form from Privatory wouldn't be a huge surprise given how well his stable has been going lately.
Although unsighted in novices, TIK TOK could do a great deal better now running in a modest handicap.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
BILBOA was fancied on last month's debut at Dundalk and ran well to be third over 6f. That form has been shown in a good light since and, although underfoot conditions will be very different, his dam had useful form on soft ground in Germany. Greek Flower was unlucky in running when third on easy ground at Down Royal last term and finished the campaign with another couple of placed efforts at Dundalk. Being a year older than most of her rivals is an advantage, in terms of strength, at this point of the season. Beaumadier showed plenty of pace on his first turf start at Naas and will be suited by dropping back to this trip.
Plenty of runners but not many likely winners, with GREEK FLOWER getting the vote after a couple of good runs at Dundalk in the autumn. Two Stars is an interesting newcomer, while Oneplusone is another to note.
The pace could be on the near side and a chance is taken on BEAUMADIER, who should appreciate the drop in trip

50/1(-25%) | (10) Tafsir 50/1, Eleventh of 14 in handicap (33/1) at Newcastle (8f). Off 155 days. Out of handicap here and has plenty to find on form.
10th (7) (9/1 +36%) Copper Mountain |
9/1(+36%) | (7) Copper Mountain 9/1, Latest win at Wetherby in August. Respectable fourth of 7 in handicap (5/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 35 days ago. Not fully dismissed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Fitness has to be taken on trust with many of these and it may be worth chancing COPPER MOUNTAIN. The four-year-old ran one of her better races last time out when finishing fourth at Wolverhampton and she returns to the turf off a 1lb lower mark than her win at Wetherby in April last year. Judgment Call and Tommy G are feared most if returning at their best.
JUDGMENT CALL was a dual winner last term and ran well over 7f here on his final outing last season, so gets the nod ahead of Star of St James, who was largely consistent for the bulk of last season, and recent Newcastle winner Showmedemoney.
This could go to the reappearing STAR OF ST JAMES who was admirably consistent on turf in the second half of last year.

1st (10) (5.5/1 +27%) Burrows Hall |
5.5/1(+27%) | (10) Burrows Hall 5.5/1, Modest form in bumpers and similar level so far over hurdles. Came third on handicap debut at Wetherby last month but failed to meet expectations upped in trip when a well-beaten fourth at Newcastle 12 days later (possibly unsuited by conditions). In the mix.
2nd (1) (10/1 +17%) Applaus |
10/1(+17%) | (1) Applaus 10/1, Scored narrowly twice at this C&D over the winter but ran poorly away from this venue when well held at Haydock (18.9f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Better showing anticipated back at this track.
3rd (5) (8.5/1 +47%) Allbetsoff |
8.5/1(+47%) | (5) Allbetsoff 8.5/1, Still a maiden but posted a respectable fourth over C&D back in October. Ran poorly at Market Rasen 3 weeks later though, so will need to hit the ground running returning from 5 months off.
4th (11) (33/1 -32%) Derracrin |
33/1(-32%) | (11) Derracrin 33/1, Still a maiden and again failed to get competitive when seventh of 13 in handicap at this course (17.2f, good to soft) 6 months ago. Others appeal more on reappearance.
5th (4) (7/1 +50%) Five Dollar Fine |
7/1(+50%) | (4) Five Dollar Fine 7/1, Winning pointer who improved in each of his first 3 outings in regular novices. However, he failed to meet expectations upped in trip for his handicap debut when well held at Kelso (22.7f, good to soft) in February and now drops back down in trip.
6th (7) (10/1 -82%) Duty Calls |
10/1(-82%) | (7) Duty Calls 10/1, Won over hurdles here last season and took advantage of being held up in a strongly-run race despite being 3 lb out of the weights as he scored for the first time over fences at Kelso (17.1f, soft) a fortnight ago. Back hurdling now and high on the shortlist.
7th (8) (4/1 -45%) Artic Row |
4/1(-45%) | (8) Artic Row 4/1, Justified strong support when winning 8-runner event on handicap debut at Ayr (16f, good to firm) last month but didn't get the chance to prove himself still ahead of the handicapper after a 4 lb rise having departed 4 out at Newcastle 10 days ago. Remains of firm interest.
8th (12) (10/1 +55%) Strike Of Lighting |
10/1(+55%) | (12) Strike Of Lighting 10/1, Poor maiden handicapper who got back on track to a certain extent fitted with tongue tie when fourth at this course (19.3f, soft) 20 days ago. Wouldn't be a banker to reproduce that effort here, though.
9th (9) (16/1 +20%) Ingleby Mackenzie |
16/1(+20%) | (9) Ingleby Mackenzie 16/1, Fair handicap chaser in Ireland for Henry de Bromhead but well held this year, including for new yard. Headgear/tongue tie back on but has plenty to prove.
10th (6) (6.5/1 -63%) Don't Talk |
6.5/1(-63%) | (6) Don't Talk 6.5/1, Was progressive over hurdles and took a further step forward on chasing debut when fourth at Newcastle (16.3f, good to soft) back in January. Quickly reverts to the smaller obstacles and could well have a say in proceedings.
11th (2) (8/1 +0%) Limited Reserve |
8/1(+0%) | (2) Limited Reserve 8/1, One-time useful hurdler who having tumbled in the weights, made far more impact than in ages when third at Uttoxeter (19.9f, soft) 3 weeks ago. Needs to back that up here but fancied to do so with jockey taking off a valuable 8 lb. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A comfortable winner over C&D in February 2022, DUTY CALLS didn't manage to get his head in front again until bouncing back to form when scoring over fences at Kelso a fortnight ago, and he could be well placed to strike again on his return to the smaller obstacles. Irish raider Don't Talk can have a big say, while Artic Row was getting into contention when falling four out at Newcastle and is another to warrant consideration.
Cases can be made for a few but ARTIC ROW was unable to prove himself as still ahead of the handicapper following a 4 lb rise when stumbling and falling soon after 4 out at Newcastle 10 days ago. Providing he's none the worse from that spill, Nick Alexander's charge is fancied to double his tally. Limited Reserve may well emerge as the main threat, with Duty Calls and Burrows Hall also considered.
Burrows Hall can resume his progression back over shorter but narrow preference is for fellow lightly raced type ARTIC ROW.

33/1(+0%) | (2) Tribal Commander 33/1, Course winner. 33/1, twelfth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) 98 days ago. Off 98 days. Modest on the Flat, poor on last Flat outing. Plenty to find on form.

12th (13) (22/1 +33%) Robeam |
22/1(+33%) | (13) Robeam 22/1, Course winner. Sixth of 7 in handicap at this course (16.6f, 33/1) 26 days ago. Hood on 1st time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
This could go the way of JENNY REN, who took a big step forward when securing a win over 1m4f at this track last month. A 2lb raised mark for that success looks unlikely to stop her having a say in proceedings here, although the reopposing Inchbae can give her plenty to think about now 1lb better off with the selection. Master Grey is another to bear in mind.
JENNY REN did well to reel in Inchbae close home over 12.2f here last month, despite not getting the run of things, and she is taken to strike again back up in trip off just a 2 lb higher mark. Inchbae could again have a part to play but a bigger threat may be posed by Ghostly, who was well held in the Southwell handicap won by Master Grey in February but is better than that. Owens Lad also merits consideration.
Preference is for INCHBAE who still doesn't have many miles on the clock (0-8) and is bred to relish this longer trip.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Willie Mullins has three last-time-out winners and ARCTIC FLY is the apparent first-string according to jockey bookings. Out of a sister to the yard's County Hurdle winner Arctic Fire, she justified odds-on favouritism when scoring on debut at Leopardstown last month. Marie Philippe looked a nice prospect when winning over C&D on debut. She scoped wrong after dropping right out in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown and a line can be drawn through that run. Theatre Native, a half-sister to a couple of bumper winners who have gone on to be useful hurdlers, was well clear when falling at the last in her only point-to-point and has since joined the connections of Honeysuckle. She could be a danger to all on her Rules debut.
Willie Mullins appears to have a stranglehold on this race and ARCTIC FLY, who is the choice of Patrick, could be the way to go, with stablemates Cuta Des As And West End Victory both well respected.
We'll row in with Patrick Mullins here and Leopardstown winner ARCTIC FLY is the selection; C&D winner Marie Philippe can contend

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Don't Look Back romped home by six lengths in testing conditions over 1m2f at Doncaster last week, but Lucinda Russell's inmate isn't sure to excel now faced with this sharper test off 8lb higher in the handicap. With that in mind, BASHFUL, who was just denied over this distance at Newcastle recently, makes most appeal. Beltane returns to the turf off a declining mark and he may have been freshened up by a break.
After a spell over hurdles, BASHFUL continued in good heart when runner-up at Newcastle 15 days ago and he can return to winning ways with the visor (which he wore for his victory at Redcar in November) now back on. Don't Look Back was a clear-cut winner at Doncaster a week ago and is feared most, ahead of Beltane.
Bashful comes here on the back of a good run but DON'T LOOK BACK bolted up at Doncaster last week and can follow up.

80/1(-300%) | (4) Autolycus 80/1, Maiden who failed to improve for the switch to handicaps after 3 months off (gelded in interim) at Kempton in January. Has since left Amanda Perrett. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Torre Del Oro makes his handicap debut following a fair fourth in maiden company at Kempton in December, but he could struggle off top-weight and BERWICK LAW gets the vote. A winner over 1m2f at Lingfield in February, a 5lb rise may not be enough to hold the daughter of Zoffany back here, while Ramz completes the shortlist in first-time blinkers.
TORRE DEL ORO progressed with each run in 2022 and appeals as the type to go on again as a 3-y-o, especially now upped further in distance, so he's taken to make a successful start in handicaps. Berwick Law quickened up best to score decisively at Lingfield in February and will be a big threat if taking another step forward over this longer trip.
Berwick Law may improve for the new trip but TORRE DEL ORO caught the eye when last seen and can make a winning handicap debut.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
In a contest lacking depth, preference lies with MARGARET BEAUFORT, who scored by half a length over C&D last month. She is now 4lb higher for that success, but the reopposing Think Champagne was sent off favourite for the aforementioned contest and he should not be dismissed. Secret Contact also warrants a market check following some encouraging efforts last month.
MARGARET BEAUFORT has much improved switched to handicaps and upped in trip both starts this term, scoring over C&D last time despite racing freely, so can defy a 4 lb rise. Think Champagne pulled too hard when sent off favourite behind the selection that day so is worth another chance.
This can go to SECRET CONTACT (nap) who has been shaping as though this stiffer test will suit her even better and drops in grade.

3.5/1(+13%) | (6) Big Narstie 3.5/1, Latest win at Southwell in February. Respectable fifth of 11 in handicap (3/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 8 days ago. Unreliable individual, though.

40/1(-60%) | (5) Endowed 40/1, 22/1 and blinkered for 1st time, tenth of 14 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to soft). Off 173 days. First run for yard after leaving Tony Carroll. Tongue strap on 1st time and cheekpieces back on. Others appeal more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ELIGIBLE has been running with credit in better company recently and, from just 1lb above his last winning mark, the son of Dark Angel could get back to winning ways down in grade. Asadjumeirah bounced back to form when finishing a good second here last month and he can feature if seeing out the extra furlong, while Big Narstie should not be underestimated either.
OKEANOS arrives on the back of an excellent second at Chelmsford City and is fancied to go one better now nudged up only 1 lb and with few miles still on the clock. Recent course runner-up Asadjumeirah is next on the list ahead of Eligible, who didn't enjoy the rub of the green when seventh at Southwell last time.
There is no obvious pace here and it looks a race to tread carefully with. The class-dropping ELIGIBLE gets the tentative vote.

CANADIANSMOKESHOW produced some good efforts in defeat last season, most notably when finishing five lengths behind the subsequent Fillies' Mile winner Commissioning at Newmarket in July. She sets the standard with an official rating of 76 and the daughter of U S Navy Flag could open her account if able to rediscover that spark here. Centrefold and Storymaker can battle it out for second.
CANADIANSMOKESHOW brings much the best form to the table so Sean Woods's U S Navy Flag filly is taken to get off the mark at the chief expense of Storymaker, who made a promising start when third at Chelmsford City and has better days ahead of her. Fahari and Deep In My Heart appeal as the pick of the remainder and can fight it out for minor honours.
The standard is just about set by CANADIANSMOKESHOW and she can continue her trainer's good run of form.

9/1(-6%) | (1) Rebel Redemption 9/1, C&D winner. Good third of 9 in handicap at this course (7.2f, 33/1) 26 days ago, doing too much too soon. Not the easiest to predict but clear chance on that run.
8th (2) (8/1 -191%) Mustaffiz |
8/1(-191%) | (2) Mustaffiz 8/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Respectable second of 10 in handicap at Kempton (6f, 11/2) 10 days ago, no match for resurgent winner. Leading claims.
9th (4) (14/1 -100%) Alfred Cove |
14/1(-100%) | (4) Alfred Cove 14/1, 11/4, good second of 10 in handicap at this C&D 102 days ago. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Placed on three of his last four starts, MUSTAFFIZ deserves a change in luck and this looks like a good opportunity to gain a first win since joining these connections. Narrowly denied over course and distance in December, Alfred Cove is likely to be thereabouts once again, along with Rebel Redemption, who should be suited by the drop back in trip.
MUSTAFFIZ found only a resurgent winner too good at Kempton last week and looks the way to go. Apache Star, Rebel Redemption and Starjik are feared.
A strong pace looks assured and this could be the day that things finally fall into place for FRISTEL.

An eight-time winner at this venue, HOOFLEPUFF bounced back to form with a runner-up effort over C&D last month and the seven-year-old remains just 1lb above his last winning mark. City Escape is another who goes well here and has been knocking on the door of late, whereas Connie R arrives with similar claims but is still a maiden after 22 starts.
CITY ESCAPE did well under the circumstances when a close third here last month, left with a bit too much to do, so earns the vote off the same mark. Hooflepuff's ninth win at this track doesn't look too far away judged on his running-on second over C&D 12 days ago and is the obvious threat, with Inexplicable best of the others.
Eight-time course winner HOOFLEPUFF suggested his turn is nearing again when runner-up over C&D 12 days ago. He can go one better.
Ths is the racecard key.
