(2) Calafiori 8/1, £18,000 Ardad colt; dam smart at 6f at 2yo; yard in decent form and top man on board; worth watching in the market
Early-foaled £18,000 yearling who holds a few sales race entries; likely looking type.
LTO Selection:hiden content,

Unless Alkuwarrior can take a significant step forward from his 11th in last weekend's Brocklesby, this should go to one of the newcomers. Most hold potentially more lucrative entries and the betting should be informative. Connections have covered a couple of early-closer options with VALOR SPIRIT and Richard Fahey's half-brother to 5f winner Air Force One is suggested as the first to consider. Market support for Super Soldier and Calafiori would also be persuasive.

Early-foaled CALAFIORI is narrowly preferred to Valor Spirit, who's bred to be sharp.

Low-mileage 10yo who is still unbeaten over fences; rising force for Polly Gundry.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

There could be an early battle for supremacy with the likes of Handstands, who defeated subsequent Arkle winner Jango Baie in the Scilly Isles, Caldwell Potter and the talented Dancing City all likely to adopt a prominent position. With that in mind, a chance can be taken on STELLAR STORY, who came from off the pace to finish second in the Brown Advisory last time out. That was a career best over fences for Gordon Elliott's charge and, should this pan out favourably, it would come as no surprise were he to go one place better. Quai De Bourbon should go well with a clear round.

There is a compelling list of positives as regards HANDSTANDS, who is first choice ahead of Caldwell Potter and Stellar Story.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

INLET took a considerable step forward when upped to 1m6f at Wolverhampton in February, going down by just a neck. The daughter of Golden Horn hung left in the closing stages so first-time cheekpieces are employed to perhaps sharpen her focus and, with a switch to grass not expected to be an issue, she's taken to go one better. Mamdoh has been in good form on the all-weather and is respected. Cornish Storm appeals most of the remainder.

Preference is for turf debutante INLET, who shaped as though her turn was near when going close on the AW in February.

EXACTLY RIGHT was well held when introduced at Kempton in December, but looked a transformed character when he returned from a gelding operation to gamely land a novice stakes at Southwell last month. With that experience fresh, the son of Kingman has a decent chance of following up now back at 7f, with the switch to turf not expected to bother him. Dark Tornado was highly tried last year and commands respect debuting for Denis Quinn. Jet Packer and Regal Guest should also be players at this level.

Ralph Beckett's EXACTLY RIGHT took a big step forward after being gelded when scoring at Southwell and can follow up.

IMPOSE TOI may have a large weight to carry but he looked like the winner of the Coral Cup before being worn down late in the piece by a well-handicapped Willie Mullins-trained inmate. A comfortable winner at Newbury on his penultimate start, the seven-year-old may have too much for unexposed Wetherby winner Wade Out, who could be well treated off a mark of 128 on his handicap debut. Fresh off a career-best effort when second in the National Spirit last time out, Steel Ally must enter calculations, as well as Listentoyourheart, who looks to have been laid out for this.

Back down slightly in distance and returned to a sharper course, BE AWARE (nap) is worth another chance. Wade Out is second choice.

LTO Selection:

Eve Johnson Houghton has landed the two previous renewals of this contest so Canyouhearthedrums merits the utmost respect, but a chance can be taken on SENORITA VEGA. Tom Dascombe's youngster, a 28,000-euro purchase, is a half-sister to a couple of useful types and although her future will perhaps lie over further, it would come as no surprise were she good enough today. Earthlight filly Sayidah Poets is another who warrants a market check.

Tricky. CANYOUHEARTHEDRUMS is drawn widest but her yard has won the past two runnings of this race with Group-class fillies.

SHELBOURNE was on the back of a 173-day break when he finished an encouraging fourth at Wolverhampton recently. Unlucky in running on that occasion, George Scott's four-year-old is entitled to be sharper and could be tough to deal with back on turf from the same mark. Gincident is feared most as he takes a drop in class on his debut for a new yard, although Marlay Park is dangerous to rule out from 7lb lower than his last winning rating.

Rated as high as 89 in the past, GINCIDENT (nap) is the sort with which in-form James Owen excels. He's preferred to Shelbourne.

An appearance at the Cheltenham Festival has been a reliable stepping stone for past winners of this race and, with that in mind, ROMEO COOLIO has the right credentials after his commendable third-placed finish in the Supreme. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding's previous start was an impressive display in landing the Grade 1 Future Champions at Leopardstown's Christmas fixture. Salvator Mundi is the pick of Willie Mullins' pair but could only manage fifth in the Supreme. Therefore, the progressive Tripoli Flyer may be a bigger threat to the selection on the back of his Grade 2 win at Kempton. Diva Luna offers some each-way appeal.

Preference is for Irish challenger ROMEO COOLIO following last month's third in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

TOURIST narrowly prevailed at Windsor on his final start for Hilal Kobeissi and given that he has gone well fresh previously, a 2lb rise should be no barrier to further success. Now in the care of Robert Cowell, the son of Zoustar has proven himself tactically versatile so should they go a decent gallop, his ability to stay further could be key. The unexposed Miss Show Off and hat-trick seeking Regal Envoy are two others to consider.

One who still has potential is MISS SHOW OFF, who raced only twice as a 3yo but proved she can go well fresh on the first occasion.

Having been denied a clear run at a pivotal point when second over 7f at Wolverhampton last week, STRAIGHT A makes plenty of appeal on this quick turnaround. Southwell fifth Midnight's Dream is another who didn't enjoy the smoothest of passages last time out and he's feared most, ahead of Saturnalia.

Michael Herrington's SOAMES FORSYTE is enjoying an excellent 2025 and can land a third win on the back of a very good Southwell third.

JONBON was never able to recover from a bad mistake at the ninth fence in the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last month, but did well in the circumstances to stay on for second. The nine-time Grade 1 winner beat Protektorat (third) in last year's renewal and provided there are no mishaps, he should do the business. El Fabiolo was beaten four lengths into second behind the selection in a Grade 1 at Sandown last year and failed to justify short odds in a Grade 2 at Navan last month. However, he is in the right hands and could bounce back.

Last year's winner JONBON impressed in the winter and last month's Champion Chase defeat is excusable on account of a bad mistake.

(4) Kameko Spirit 10/3, Ran to form beaten 3/4l off 48 over 5f at Wolverhampton last time; not proven trip; unproven on fast ground (looks better on AW); key contender, go close
Prominent racer who has failed only narrowly in her last two races on the AW (5f).
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

KAMEKO SPIRIT has attempted to make every yard of the running but had to settle for second on each of her last two outings, with her latest effort coming in a first-time tongue-tie at Wolverhampton. Provided she can transfer that form to turf, she could prove tough to beat. Elland Road Girl outran her big odds when a respectable fourth at Wolverhampton last month and should go well, while Royal Accord is another to note.

After two near misses on the AW this looks a good opportunity for KAMEKO SPIRIT (nap) to finally get her head in front.

KISH BANK sets the standard off his mark of 120 and should prove hard to beat. The Mount Nelson gelding has run solid races to finish runner-up on his last two outings and stepping up in trip now may help the point-to-point winner. Watchful Protector has a bit to find with the selection having been 15 lengths behind him when third at Fairyhouse in February. He was a touch disappointing back in a bumper last time, but is capable of reaching the frame in this company. Happy Me ran well when runner-up at Thurles and is another for the shortlist.

It could pay to side with UFOURIA an encouraging fourth here over 2m recently and for whom this longer trip could suit

CHARLIE MASON has been in fine form on the all-weather throughout winter and into spring, and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to regain the winning thread. Gemini Star ended her last campaign with a respectable third at Redcar and market support on her return to action would be interesting. Alice Haynes' mare may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Raft Up.

The returning BEELZEBUB has slipped to a handy-looking mark for his new yard and could take advantage on the back of wind surgery.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Having experience over the National fences has proved key when going back through the previous winners of this contest and last year's runner-up JAMES DU BERLAIS ticks plenty of the right boxes. Willie Mullins' gelding only gave way in the final stages 12 months ago and this forecast quicker ground may help. The nine-year-old's latest fifth at Leopardstown should have put him spot on and he makes the most appeal. The Nicky Henderson-trained Fantastic Lady may have found the ground too soft when finishing sixth last year and she shouldn't be underestimated. Prominent racers usually do well, which brings Glengouly, Amirite and Blue Lord into the reckoning.

The oldest horses in the field have plenty going for them. ELDORADO ALLEN is the pick ahead of Latenightpass then Escaria Ten.

High On Hope returned from a break to fill the runner-up spot at Southwell last month and has plenty of experience on his side so needs to be considered. However, he might come out second best to GENNADIUS, who ran green when only finding Godolphin's 2000 Guineas contender Opera Ballo too good on his debut at Kempton in January and will have lots more to offer. Teroomm completes the shortlist.

High On Hope is respected but TEROOMM made a very promising debut at Kempton in the autumn and is taken to improve past him.

FULL OF LIFE has been given a mark of 117 after three runs over timber and if she runs up to that, she's the one to beat. The Great Pretender mare was third to a smart sort in Barnahash Primrose at Leopardstown early last month and a similar run can get the job done now. Sugar Cookie is an interesting runner for Willie Mullins. She shaped with plenty of promise on her debut a couple of years ago, but was well beaten on her return from two years off at Leopardstown last month. The French-bred should be capable of better. Gordon Elliott's newcomer Cooke's Lass is one to note in the market.

A good third in a similar Leopardstown contest last month, the now tongue-tied FULL OF LIFE gets the vote on ground she handles

FIREBLADE failed to score in novice company, although he showed enough to make him of interest now handicapping. Dylan Cunha's new inmate finished third, a place behind a subsequent winner, at Kempton in January and James Doyle's presence is another positive. Expert Witness ran well for fourth at Wolverhampton on her debut for new connections and looks worth another try over this longer distance. Orchard Keeper and Zayina make most appeal of those returning to action.

Lightly raced fillies Zayina and ORCHARD KEEPER are both open to improvement over this trip, the latter getting the nod.

Dual bumper winner MISTER MEGGIT could hardly have been more impressive when winning over 2m4f here on his hurdling bow. This represents a marked step up in class, but he has the potential to rate much higher over timber with the step up in trip likely to play to his strengths. The latter comment also applies to Listed winner Califet En Vol, who was doing his best work at the finish when scoring at Huntingdon. Battle Born Lad has nothing to prove regarding stamina, having enhanced his reputation with fine victory in a Grade 2 contest at Haydock over 3m. Gordon Elliott plays a strong hand, represented by Naas Grade 3 winner Jacob's Ladder and Familiar Dreams.

The suggestion is MOON ROCKET, who encountered some traffic and did not enjoy the run of the race when second in a Grade 2 last time.

CAST PARTY improved from first to second start when runner-up at Kempton last October and this appeals as an ideal opportunity to get off the mark. That may be at the main expense of the well-bred Stellenbosch, who is likely to relish going up to 1m and represents a stable in excellent form at present. Champagne On Ice is another to consider, as well as newcomer Luminoso.

The betting can help regarding well-bred newcomers Previse and Luminoso but as things stand CAST PARTY looks the safest option.

OUTRACE won off 69 over C&D a couple of years ago and could be a bit of value in this competitive handicap now he's switched to turf in first-time blinkers. 7lb claimer Tyrese Cameron knows him well and he's preferred to My Ambition, a three-time track-and-trip scorer who has won when fresh in the past. Expecto is also interesting having her first run since leaving Jim Bolger's yard.

A chance is taken on JOHNJAY who won over C&D on last season's reappearance and his yard is having winners.

FLEMENSFACE has run well on his last couple of outings in maiden hurdles and it was a nice effort to finish third to Sermandzarak at Navan last month. Stepping up to three miles should suit Eoin Griffin's eight-year-old. Birmingham Alabama stays well and got up late on to gain a narrow success at Leopardstown early last month. She's a leading contender, while Onlymammycanloveme takes a big jump up in trip after finishing fourth here on his handicap debut and is another for the shortlist.

Back on his favoured sound surface it could pay to follow a rare British challenger at the track, KING ROLY in a wide open contest

ABOVE has won a couple of races over the minimum trip at Newcastle this year. Robert Cowell's charge has been raised 2lb for his latest success, but has won off a higher figure on the turf in the past and another bold bid looks on the cards. Jungle Run has a bit more to prove off his current mark, although he will be sharper for last month's spin on the all-weather, while Yazaman can make his presence felt on his return to the fray.

All roads lead to ABOVE, who had Ganesha behind when winning at Newcastle two weeks ago. Whats In The Bag is second choice.

COLLECTIVE POWER just failed by a nose in a much higher grade over C&D last month and that form gives him bright prospects. Jockey Sorcha Woods knows him well and lessens his burden by 7lb. He won this race two years ago. Inishmot Prince is always worth a second look here. He competes off 77 (with his jockey's claim factored in) and that was the last all-weather mark he won off. Fair Taxes hasn't been beaten far in his last three starts, including in a good race at Wolverhampton, and is one to note on seasonal reappearance. Circles was a ready winner over 7f in the basement grade at this track last week. This is much tougher, but she does have a light weight on her back.

Having been just denied over C&D on return last month, COLLECTIVE POWER (nap) can go one better with that run under his girth.

A tentative vote goes to the progressive DIAMONDS FOR LUCK, who has won his last three in comfortable fashion and a mark of 122 on his handicap debut could prove lenient. As long as the six-year-old handles the ground, he is likely to travel strongly through this contest with Imperial Cup third Afadil looking best placed to chase him home off 6lb lower than when third in this last year. A taking winner at Newbury last time out, Manuelito is expected to be thereabouts, while Celtic Dino is another to consider.

Dylan Johnston rides CELTIC DINO instead of the same connections' classy operator Lump Sum and his mount is of strong interest.

A comfortable winner over further on debut at Lingfield in December, NIMINY PIMINY showed enough pace on that occasion to suggest that she can handle a drop in trip and Ollie Sangster's filly is taken to follow up under a penalty. Now in the hands of new connections after a promising third at Yarmouth last September, Zou's Your Daddy must enter calculations, along with Captain Parma.

This can go to NIMINY PIMINY who left a favourable impression when making a successful debut at Lingfield in December.

BAIKAL comes here fit from competing on the all-weather and they were good runs too, including a determined success over 1m2f at Lingfield. He's shaped on those starts at the Surrey venue as though going up to 1m4f would suit and is very much worth sticking with in his current form. Mrembo is 2-4 at the track and must enter calculations, while a big run from the race-fit Starfighter would come as no surprise.

This can go to WATERLOO SUNSET, who was returning from a long absence when a keeping-on fifth in a Class 4 AW race in February.

A strong race for the track and ASPIRE TOWER can score on his return to chasing. The Born To Sea gelding ran well to be placed twice over fences last season, but has been kept to hurdles this term after ending his last campaign with a fall over the larger obstacles. He ran a solid race when third to the classy Thedevilscoachman over timber last month so comes here in decent form. What's Up Darling, brought down in Cheltenham last time, had some good placed form previously and looks a danger. Westport Cove is another obvious contender after a good runner-up effort at Thurles.

WESTPORT COVE had What's Up Darling behind when second at Thurles on good ground and can go one better here

BRIGID'S CLOAK wouldn't be winning out of turn. Johnny Murtagh's filly has been placed in her last couple of handicaps over 7f at this venue. First-time cheekpieces are applied and Rory Mulligan's 7lb claim certainly has her on a competitive mark. Top-weight Amavasya is interesting on handicap and Polytrack debut. Her never-nearer seventh in a Curragh maiden last September, form which is working out well, gives her a chance. Eric Lock gave Emily Grifferty a good spin in Naas when they were always prominent before being collared in the closing stages to finish second. They ought to be contending for prize money. Movin And Groovin, who has a C&D success in her locker, is another to consider.

Running consistently in defeat over 7f at this track over the winter, BRIGID'S CLOAK can cope with the drop in trip to get off the mark

LIGHTKEEPER brings recent winning form into this and may be able to follow up. The Walk In The Park gelding appreciated the better ground when scoring easily at Down Royal 18 days ago. The handicapper has taken no chances with him, but he's still relatively unexposed over fences and looks capable of scoring again. Clifftop was third behind the selection then, on his return to action, and with the run under his belt, he may get closer on the revised terms. French import Letos is the unknown quantity in the field and it will be interesting to see how he fares off his initial Irish mark.

A chance is taken on the locally trained KILTEALY PARK. She has a 100% record here over hurdles and she may have been aimed at this

MY GIRL SIOUX's customary late rattle could see her double her career total. There is no doubt she finds it difficult to win, but Jimmy Dalton's 10lb claim has seen her placed in her last four outings at Dundalk. She just went down by a neck in second over C&D last month. Hasiyna has won twice over C&D and was fourth behind My Girl Sioux in that aforementioned race last month. Havana Notion is capable of getting involved from the box seat in stall one, while Rattletheonionbag shouldn't be disregarded under Declan McDonogh, who has returned from a stint in Hong Kong.

The majority of these have questions to answer and the most reliable is MY GIRL SIOUX so she is selected on that basis.

BUST A MOON produced a career-best effort to finish second on his first start for the David Evans yard at Chelmsford last month and goes off an unchanged mark. The son of Rumble Inthejungle may only need to reproduce that level of form in order to go one better. Monticristo Boy failed to back up his victory at Newcastle two starts ago when only third at the same venue last time, but he would be foolish to dismiss on his return from a break. Trust Sergei completes the shortlist.

Monticristo Boy and Auntie Jo are respected but BUST A MOON (nap) went close over 6f last week and is 3lb well in.

REBEL GOLD takes a drop in class and can get back to winning ways. The top-weight has kept good company since winning a Grade 3 contest at Naas back in February 2023, but has acquitted himself well on several occasions and ran a solid race when second to cosy winner Champagne Mahler in a valuable contest at Gowran Park last month. Dont Go Yet hasn't been too far away over the winter and could be a danger. Last year's winner Shadow Rider is another who has to come into calculations.

The safest option is REBEL GOLD (nap) who shaped as though he was ready for this step up in trip last time and he'll handle the ground

Aidan O'Brien's 90-rated colt FIRST WAVE is very hard to get away from in this maiden. He has taken the runner-up berth in all three starts to date, including over C&D last October which confirmed his ability to handle the surface. Pedro Nunes represents Adrian Murray, who has been firing in plenty of winners here, so merits a market check ahead of his debut. Raykir was sixth behind First Wave in the Curragh last month and could improve on his third start and Polytrack debut. Joseph O'Brien's Starford and David Marnane's Gee Gee Hadid are other newcomers who could show up well.

It is difficult to oppose FIRST WAVE, whose best run came over this C&D last year and should have improved from his seasonal debut.

SIBERIAN STAR has been knocking on the door and may be able to give the raiders a win here. Peter and Michael Bowen's charge has been collared late on on his two most recent outings and connections drop him back in trip now. Da Big Fella has a feather weight and could run a big race again having chased home Bite That at the track 18 days ago. He had Malton Groove and Well Loved behind that day and may be able to confirm the placings.

Course regular MALTON GROOVE is well-treated on his third over C&D last July and shaped with promise again here last month.

SAXON KINGDOM might be the answer to this contest. He was beaten just over two lengths into sixth in a big-field handicap on the turf at Leopardstown last month which was a creditable effort. Julian Pietropaolo steered him to third over C&D before Christmas and his 7lb claim has the gelding operating off a very light weight. Harry The Rogue is generally a consistent sort who has finished runner-up in two of his last three starts at Dundalk. He is a big player in a race lacking depth. Camachero suffered a less than clear route last time and is better judged on his close third over C&D in January, while River Derwent has been given a chance by the handicapper.

The 4yo CAMACHERO did run well on his penultimate start and there were excuses when a beaten favourite here last week.

High Court Judge has improved considerably since switching to the James Owen yard and has recorded two course victories in that time, so he is one to note. However, CABALLO DE MAR looks the way to go. The four-year-old completed a hat-trick when successful by a length over C&D last month and the handicapper might have been kind to only put him up 4lb. Humble Spark is another to keep an eye on.

George Scott's CABALLO DE MAR made light of a six-month absence when completing a hat-trick over C&D last time and can defy a 4lb rise

Justify filly JERPOINT ABBEY could be worth chancing on debut for Emmet Mullins. She doesn't lack much in breeding and holds eye-catching entries in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and Irish Oaks. Aidan O'Brien's representative Head To Head is an obvious danger up in trip. She showed up well in second over 7f at this track on debut last September. Adrian Murray's Umala put in a pleasing debut in third over 1m at this venue in January and the form got a boost when the runner-up delivered on his next start. Once-raced Camevere and Johnny Murtagh's newcomer Floresta will have their supporters in an interesting race.

An interesting maiden in which UMALA edges preference after her highly likeable debut effort here two months ago.

BEAUPARC looks well worth a step up in trip after staying on well to be pipped by a short head in second over an extended 1m2f at this track in December. This is a good race, though, with three horses lining up who won their last starts. Jockey Nicola Burns has been making a name for herself on the Polytrack in Dundalk and is reunited with Dromore Glory, who she won on over C&D in March. He is in a very consistent vein of form for Paul Flynn. Gracesolution also scored over C&D last month which brings her into the equation, while Numidia is a credit to trainer Peter Lawlor and was last seen winning over a shorter trip at Dundalk in November.

The mare BEAUPARC looks ready for this longer trip after narrowly failing to get up over the extended 1m2f here in December.

A trappy contest in which many arrive with something to prove, so only a tentative vote can go to TOUGH AT THE TOP. Tim Easterby's charge hinted at ability in novice/maiden company and it would come as no surprise were he to build on that now sent handicapping. Arlington went down by a narrow margin at Newcastle last time out and is respected, while Port Hedland might not be far away either.

Port Hedland can win races for Tony Carroll but TOUGH AT THE TOP looks a likely big improver now making his handicap debut.
