1st (1) ![]() Infantry Officer |
1/4(+38%) | (1) Infantry Officer 1/4, Proved a different proposition upped markedly in trip when making a winning handicap debut at this course (12.2f) 10 days ago, pushed out. Likely to progress further and claims are crystal clear under a penalty. Emphatic win on handicap debut here (1m4f) ten days ago; major player back down in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Hawkesbury Legend |
11/2(+35%) | (3) Hawkesbury Legend 11/2, Thrice-raced maiden. 25/1, last of 9 in maiden at Kempton (8f) 57 days ago. Has been gelded ahead of handicap debut and should prove suited by the step up in trip. Been gelded and now goes handicapping but he needs a transformation upped in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Baileys Value |
66/1(-65%) | (6) Baileys Value 66/1, No promise all 4 starts to date. Makes tapeta debut. Has struggled in her four runs including a Kempton handicap; cheekepieces are now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Eva's Eyes |
12/1(0%) | (7) Eva's Eyes 12/1, 18/1 and visored for 1st time, good third of 7 in handicap at this C&D 12 days ago. C 0-11 but was a respectable third over C&D last time and she could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() About Last Night |
20/1(+9%) | (5) About Last Night 20/1, Well held in maidens/novice event. Visored for handicap debut. Handicap newcomer but she needs plenty of improvement after 132 days off; visor on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Jester Queen |
80/1(-264%) | (2) Jester Queen 80/1, Showed barely modest form in 4 runs for Jamie Osborne. Sold for just 2,000 gns in February. Still early days but she needs to do much better back up in trip; hood removed; new yard. |
INFANTRY OFFICER took a big step forward when winning impressively on his handicap debut over 1m4f here 10 days ago and Michael Bell's gelding is very hard to oppose, despite a 6lb penalty. Perfect Parole could prove to be the main threat following an encouraging effort at Lingfield a few weeks ago. Eva's Eyes is another capable of making the frame.
INFANTRY OFFICER looked well ahead of his mark when making a winning handicap debut here last week and will surely take plenty of stopping under a penalty, especially with further improvement on the cards. Hawkesbury Legend is most interesting of the opposition given he's bred to be much better than this grade and should prove suited by the longer trip.
This can go to INFANTRY OFFICER, who kicked off his handicap career with an emphatic win over 1m4f here ten days ago.

1st (2) ![]() Ebony Warrior |
5/6(+24%) | (2) Ebony Warrior 5/6, Confirmed hurdling debut promise when landing 2m Worcester maiden in July and has been placed on all 4 outings subsequently, a final-flight blunder exaggerating the distance he was beaten at Hereford on most recent outing. Sets the standard. Consistent; solid chance in this company if resuming where he left off in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Aviation |
7/4(+0%) | (1) Aviation 7/4, Didn't need to improve to make it fourth time lucky over hurdles in 2½m Fakenham novice (good) in February. Didn't run much of a race in EBF Final (Handicap) at Sandown but type to bounce back quickly, especially now returned to a left-handed track. Hard to fault until pulling up at Sandown and that was in the competitive EBF Final. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Chuggy |
8/1(-129%) | (3) Chuggy 8/1, Walk In The Park gelding. Pulled up sole outing in points but is from a good family that has served the stable well and offered plenty to work on when third in 11-runner maiden at Hereford (19.7f, good) 19 days ago. Should improve with the step up in trip likely to suit. Hereford third was quite remote; has to improve, though that's perfectly feasible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Velvet Vulcan |
125/1(+17%) | (5) Velvet Vulcan 125/1, Modest on Flat (stays 1½m, raced mostly on all-weather), out of sorts since spring 2024. Likely outsider on hurdle debut. Has had a breathing operation. Won only one of his 20 Flat starts, a 1m4f classified race on the AW 13 months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) ![]() Tuscany |
14/1(+30%) | (4) Tuscany 14/1, Offered more than he'd managed in his sole bumper when fifth of 9 on Hereford hurdle debut (21.7f) in January. However, failed to repeat that effort at Warwick last time. Has shown ability but needs to raise his game to trouble the best of these. |
CHUGGY showed ability when making the frame on his first start under Rules at Hereford earlier in the month and is likely to have plenty of improvement in him. With Harry Skelton taking over, he looks the one to beat. Ebony Warrior hasn't finished out of the top three in each of his six starts over hurdles and sets the standard with a rating of 117. Aviation appears to be next best.
AVIATION didn't run much of a race in the EBF Final at Sandown on his most recent outing, but there's nothing much wrong with his earlier form and he's expected to bounce back with a bang, not least with the return to a left-handed track sure to suit. Ebony Warrior is the obvious threat.
The 7yo EBONY WARRIOR returns from a break with his yard having winners and he earns narrow preference over Aviation.

1st (2) ![]() Ultra Beat |
3/1(-9%) | (2) Ultra Beat 3/1, First form over hurdles when third at Ffos Las last May and backed that up 5 months on switched to fences when runner-up at Bangor in October. Not all plain sailing since, but she had been well backed and was moving like the most likely winner when departing 5 out here 10 days ago. Can make amends. Narrowly in front when unseating five out here ten days ago; could be a contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Jar Du Desert |
4/1(+64%) | (5) Jar Du Desert 4/1, Fairly useful ex-French 17f chase winner who has a patchy record but ran one of better races back down in trip when runner-up at Market Rasen (21.4f, good) just over 3 weeks ago. His task is to now build on that effort. 0-9 in Britain and inconsistent but runner-up last time and might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Saint Bibiana |
9/1(+25%) | (1) Saint Bibiana 9/1, Improved markedly for a step up in trip last summer, completing quick-fire hat-trick in June. Narrowly denied a 4-timer at Newton Abbot the following month but found her run of good form halted when tailed off at Cartmel (25.4f, soft) when last seen in August. Makes return/chase debut. Makes chase debut after absence but with trainer enjoying an excellent month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Rostello |
25/1(+38%) | (6) Rostello 25/1, Not straightforward but put it all together under a good ride when landing this corresponding race last spring. Left previous efforts for this yard behind when going close at Catterick in January but unsurprisingly wasn't anything like so effective away from a weak veterans' event last time. Two-time course winner who went close 2 starts ago but inconsistent & pulled up last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Catchim |
6/1(+45%) | (3) Catchim 6/1, Made frame all 5 completed starts in points and was good enough to make a winning start under Rules in novice hurdle at this course last June. Found out under a penalty 6 months later when a well-held fourth at Market Rasen and now attentions are turned to the larger obstacles (has had a wind op). Won maiden hurdle here; placed in points and could improve for the switch to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Bravethewaves |
15/2(-114%) | (8) Bravethewaves 15/2, Maiden hurdler but off the mark at the second attempt over fences at Catterick in January under a confident ride. Not in same form at Musselburgh next time but overcame mistakes in a weak race to double his tally at Doncaster (20.5f, good) just over 5 weeks ago. Respected from 3 lb higher. 2-4 over fences; could do with jumping better but remains open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (4) ![]() Ghost Hunter |
5/2(+29%) | (4) Ghost Hunter 5/2, £80,000 buy after finishing second in an Irish point and took his form up a notch switched to handicaps last year, making hard work of things despite the longer trip when third at Ffos Las (23.9f, good) when last seen in May. Has since switched yards and chasing looks his game (has had a wind op). Returns from absence with new stable in fantastic form and could improve now chasing. |
BRAVETHEWAVES arrives here having won two of his last three starts and a 3lb rise for the most recent of those wins may not be enough to stop him from following up. Martalmix'jac has been knocking on the door but could have to settle for second once again, while recent Market Rasen runner-up Jar Du Desert is the pick of the remainder.
Cases can be made for several of these but the most persuasive is for ULTRA BEAT, who was travelling like the most likely winner in front when unseating his rider 5 out here recently and Henry Daly's 7-y-o is fancied to make amends at the expense of Ghost Hunter, who looks every inch a chaser and has switched yards ahead of his return. Bravethewaves and Saint Bibiana can fight out third.
Point runner-up and chasing newcomer GHOST HUNTER returns from an absence with his new trainer Jamie Snowden in excellent form.

1st (12) ![]() Flidais |
14/1(+50%) | (12) Flidais 14/1, Fair winner at 18f over hurdles. 28/1, eighth of 11 in novice chase at Thurles (20.8f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Back down in trip. Others more persuasive. 2-20 over hurdles, down the field in Thurles chase in which Ballybrittas was second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Ballybrittas |
6/5(+20%) | (3) Ballybrittas 6/5, Winning hurdler who found improvement, on debut over fences, when second of 11 in novice chase (17/2) at Thurles (20.8f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Back down in trip. Likely contender. Point/hurdles winner, bright start to chasing career at Thurles, form boosted by winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() On Lovers Walk |
10/3(+26%) | (5) On Lovers Walk 10/3, Fair chaser who got back on track when creditable fourth of 13 in novice chase (20/1) at this course (20.3f, soft) 42 days ago. Yard having good spell. Another bold show likely. Some doubt about the quality of his jumping but has definite chance on his best chase form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Eve's Hope |
14/1(-17%) | (11) Eve's Hope 14/1, Fair hurdler. Winner in hurdle here in December. 66/1, fifth of 7 in novice chase at Thurles (18.1f, good) on debut over fences 12 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Improvement required. 20-1 course winner of a maiden hurdle in December, ran in good company on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() On The Tide |
28/1(+72%) | (6) On The Tide 28/1, Poor chaser. Remains a maiden after 18 NH runs. Pulled up in handicap chase (16/1) at Navan (24f, soft) 68 days ago. Significantly back down in trip. Hard to recommend. Modest form in six races over fences, pulled up in a handicap last time, up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) ![]() Ixigreczed |
50/1(-25%) | (13) Ixigreczed 50/1, Tenth of 11 in novice chase at Thurles (20.8f, good to soft, 100/1) on debut over fences 21 days ago. Down in trip. Work to do. Handicap hurdle winner last summer, struggled at Thurles on first chase start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Presenting Max |
14/1(-27%) | (7) Presenting Max 14/1, Promising sort. 9/1, seventh of 11 in novice chase at Thurles (20.8f, good to soft) on debut over fences 21 days ago, finishing with running left. Back down in trip. Should improve. Never in the hunt over a longer trip on his chasing debut at Thurles, others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) ![]() Kaikoura |
28/1(-40%) | (15) Kaikoura 28/1, Modest hurdler. Good second of 14 in novice hurdle at Limerick (18.7f, soft, 3/1) 128 days ago, clear of rest. Improvement required on chase debut. RESERVE. A distant second in a maiden hurdle at Limerick in November, chase debut; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) ![]() Luimneach |
8/1(-7%) | (4) Luimneach 8/1, Fair hurdler. 8/1, creditable fourth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Navan (16f, good to soft) 102 days ago. Warrants respect on chase debut. Two wins in handicap hurdles, fair form in the first half of the season, makes chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) ![]() Boghlone Honey |
14/1(+58%) | (9) Boghlone Honey 14/1, Fair hurdler. Hooded for 1st time, eighteenth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (18f, good to soft, 40/1) 53 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Makes limited appeal. Two handicap hurdle wins in 2022, twice well beaten since returning from long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) ![]() Answering |
33/1(+34%) | (1) Answering 33/1, Fair winner at 16f over hurdles. Twelfth of 13 in novice chase at this course (20.3f, soft, 50/1) on debut over fences 42 days ago. Work to do. Maiden hurdle winner, latecomer to chasing, struggled at this venue on first attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (8) ![]() Pride Of Place |
16/1(-33%) | (8) Pride Of Place 16/1, Fair hurdler. Ninth of 14 in handicap hurdle (9/4) at Naas (18.5f, soft). Off 14 months. Makes chase debut. First run for yard after leaving M. Hourigan. Market check advised. Promising handicap hurdle run on his penultimate start for Michael Hourigan, chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) ![]() Ask The Bookie |
80/1(-142%) | (2) Ask The Bookie 80/1, Fair hurdler. 25/1, last of 14 in handicap hurdle at Naas (18.7f, heavy) 60 days ago. Up against it on chase debut. Has been regressive over hurdles, needs to bounce back from a dismal run two months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Dee's Getaway |
22/1(+12%) | (10) Dee's Getaway 22/1, Modest winner at 21f over hurdles. Bit below form seventh of 18 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20.2f, good to soft, 10/1) 132 days ago. Plenty to find on chase debut. Tramore maiden hurdle over 2m5f, might find this trip inadequate on chasing debut. |
BALLYBRITTAS ran really well on his chase debut in a similar race at Thurles three weeks ago and can go one better. The Champs Elysees gelding chased home Spinning Web and that winner has gone in again at the same venue. Ballybrittas won his maiden hurdle over two miles so dropping back in trip doesn't look like an issue. On Lovers Walk looks nicely treated with a chase mark of 113, but this drop in distance would be a concern for the dual point-to-point winner. Luimneach was a decent sort over timber and this is a nice race for him on his chase debut, as his hurdles mark is just 1lb below the maximum rating.
There should be more to come from BALLYBRITTAS in this sphere and he is taken to land the opener. On Lovers Walk and Presenting Max rate the principal dangers.
This seems like a suitable opportunity for BALLYBRITTAS to build on a Thurles second, boosted by the winner's follow-up success

1st (4) ![]() Elterwater |
15/8(-181%) | (4) Elterwater 15/8, Improving filly who made light work of another rise in weights when successful in 11-runner handicap at Chelmsford (10f) 4 weeks ago, well on top finish. Obvious claims from 4 lb higher in hat-trick bid. Improver who has form figures of 12211 since in November; strong contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Beatrice Shilling |
11/2(+54%) | (3) Beatrice Shilling 11/2, Remains a maiden but shaped as if needing the run after 4 months off/starting out for new yard (changed hands for 25,000 gns) when last of 7 in handicap (18/1) at Newcastle (10.2f) 47 days ago. One to note in the betting eased in class. 0-8 but she's on dangerous mark and is one to keep an eye on back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Salamanca City |
5/2(+50%) | (1) Salamanca City 5/2, Knocking on the door prior to opening her account at Leicester (10f) in July and left a lesser effort behind when fourth of 10 in handicap at Kempton (11f) in October having been left with lot to do. Not discounted on return to action. Just one win from ten starts and has some work to do back on AW after an absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Caramay |
3/1(+33%) | (2) Caramay 3/1, Enjoying an excellent AW campaign, resuming winning ways over C&D in January and following up at Southwell (11.1f) later that month. Remained in form without looking the easiest of rides in defeat since but she's likely to be thereabouts again Five wins on AW in September-January; held in last three starts but she's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Celebrating Ethel |
28/1(-75%) | (5) Celebrating Ethel 28/1, One win from 27 Flat runs. 20/1, ninth of 11 in handicap at this C&D 16 days ago, weakening over 1f. Others preferred back up in class. Sole win was in August 2023 and well held here in last two stats; opposable. |
ELTERWATER arrives here on the back of two 1m2f victories at Chelmsford last month and a 4lb rise for the most recent of those triumphs may not be enough to stop her from making it a hat-trick. Caramay is only 1lb above her last winning mark and is likely to be in the mix, while any market support for Salamanca City on her return would have to be noted.
ELTERWATER is an improved model on all-weather this winter, continuing her fine form when landing back-to-back Chelmsford handicaps in February. She rates the one to beat again in her bid to complete the hat-trick. Caramay rates next best, ahead of the returning Salamanca City.
It's hard to get away from the progressive ELTERWATER, who has form figures of 12211 since November.

1st (2) ![]() The Dark Edge |
9/1(-29%) | (2) The Dark Edge 9/1, Improved further after 5 months off when landing a 9-runner handicap hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f, good to soft) in September. Creditable in-frame efforts on next 3 starts but his run of good form came to a halt when only seventh at Newcastle 24 days ago. Plumpton winner; below par the last twice and stamina for quite this far isn't proven. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Just Four Fame |
6/1(+76%) | (7) Just Four Fame 6/1, Third in an Aintree bumper in May 2022 but hurdling efforts have been uninspiring in the main. Readily passed over. Continues to fall in the weights but he's had a few chances now in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Honey Jack |
11/2(-22%) | (1) Honey Jack 11/2, Took a step forward when getting off the mark in 3m Taunton handicap (good to soft) in November. Said to have made a respiratory noise when only fifth back there in January and sports a first-time tongue after a further 10 weeks off. Improved form for the win and made a noise last time; now has a tongue-tie fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Luna Run |
9/2(+36%) | (11) Luna Run 9/2, Poor maiden but reached the frame on all 4 handicap hurdle starts in the first half of the season, although she was reported to have made a respiratory noise on 3 of those occasions. Returns from a 141-day break minus the tongue tie she's worn on her last 2 starts. 0-9 but there are races in her off this mark and good ground could be ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) ![]() The Last Melon |
125/1(-56%) | (12) The Last Melon 125/1, Poor veteran. Off almost 4 years prior to this season and has shown very little. No worthwhile form over fences and hurdles since returning from a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() One Man Party |
14/1(+30%) | (9) One Man Party 14/1, Poor maiden. Ran his best race when second of 6 in 3m Fakenham handicap last month but not in anything like the same form when fading into a remote seventh at Hereford 19 days ago. Runner-up two starts back but then finished tailed off at Hereford; now 0-15. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Newtonian |
15/2(+66%) | (8) Newtonian 15/2, Got off the mark over 25f here last May. Also posted creditable in-frame efforts in the autumn but has been below par since, finishing a distant fourth at Hereford last time. Has a first-time tongue tie added to his regular cheekpieces here. Should have run better only 19 days ago at Hereford when back on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) ![]() Lizzie Rey |
9/2(-100%) | (10) Lizzie Rey 9/2, Much improved for the addition of cheekpieces when springing a 33/1 surprise in 3m Southwell handicap 10 days ago, staying on well to score by 4 lengths. That was a conditional jockeys' event so she can run off the same mark again. Escapes a penalty for her recent 3m win at Southwell when in new cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Seasmoke |
13/2(-18%) | (3) Seasmoke 13/2, Prominent racer who made it third time lucky in handicaps at Market Rasen (20.5f, good) last May. Better effort since returning from a break when 2 lengths third of 13 over 2¾m at Stratford 17 days ago. Up in trip. Considered. Good run last time but there are some stamina doubts over this longer distance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() De Vega's Warrior |
15/2(+38%) | (6) De Vega's Warrior 15/2, Frustrating maiden on the Flat and now 0-7 over hurdles. Did place in a couple of handicaps around the turn of the year. Also in the process of running well when falling 2 out at Taunton latest but his jumping is becoming a concern. Running well when crashing out two from home at Taunton 17 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Lyness Dancer |
16/1(-33%) | (5) Lyness Dancer 16/1, Made her first impact when third on 3¼m Fontwell handicap debut 3 weeks ago, leading for a long way under an enterprising ride. Needs to build on that now. More competitive on recent handicap debut when beaten under 8l at Fontwell (3m2f). |
LIZZIE REY showed a big chunk of improvement in first-time cheekpieces when scoring by four lengths in this grade at Southwell last time. Richard Phillips' eight-year-old makes only her fourth start in a handicap and remains unexposed over this distance, so it would be no surprise to see her complete a double. Lyness Dancer was third over this trip at Fontwell on her latest outing and should remain competitive off a 1lb lower rating. Of the remainder, Honey Jack makes the most appeal.
LIZZIE REY escapes a penalty for last week's Southwell success and will take a bit of stopping if the cheekpieces continue to have a positive effect. Seasmoke could be a threat if his stamina holds over this significantly longer trip. Honey Jack is another likely to have a say if the addition of a tongue tie helps him to recapture the form he showed when successful at Taunton in November.
Lizzie Rey has no penalty so has to be feared but HONEY JACK is now tongue tied after making a noise last time at Taunton.

1st (3) ![]() Salley Gardens |
6/4(+55%) | (3) Salley Gardens 6/4, Fair hurdles/C&D chase winner who ran up to his best when second of 14 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (20.6f) in January. Not in same form at Taunton last time but no surprise to see a better showing given his low-mileage profile over fences now re-united with Sean Bowen. Mixed fortunes in short previous stint over fences in summer 2022 but he's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Tommy Cullen |
11/4(-83%) | (1) Tommy Cullen 11/4, Appeared well-served by return to less testing ground when opening chase account at Doncaster (16.3f) in February and bolstered sound course record when second from 7 lb higher mark back there 25 days ago. Respected as an in-form sort back up in trip. In top form at favourite course Doncaster; leading candidate if he's as good here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) ![]() Stringtoyourbow |
11/8(+69%) | (4) Stringtoyourbow 11/8, Good winner of handicaps here/Musselburgh late last year and dispelled a lesser effort when third of 8 in novices' handicap at Wetherby (19.4f, heavy) in February. Quicker ground here no problem and he's worth a second look from an easing mark. Two wins at end of last year & today's return to better ground could be just what he needs. |
TOMMY CULLEN was only narrowly denied when trying to follow up February's Doncaster success at the same venue earlier this month. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give Matt Crawley's seven-year-old a big chance in this company. The rest all have questions to answer right now, but Stringtoyourbow edges out Salley Gardens to be the pick of them.
A previous C&D winner, SALLEY GARDENS has acquitted himself well on 2 of his 4 starts over hurdles this season and, returned to larger obstacles from a workable mark, he could be worth siding with to bag this small-field affair re-united with Sean Bowen. Fellow course winner Stringtoyourbow may emerge next best, ahead of another in-form sort, Tommy Cullen.
The return to better ground could be ideal for STRINGTOYOURBOW and he is taken to add to his two wins at the end of last year.

1st (5) ![]() Lombron |
1/2(+88%) | (5) Lombron 1/2, Useful chaser. Good second of 11 in novice chase at Gowran (20f, heavy, 11/1) 40 days ago, running on. Holds solid form claims. Rated 126 over hurdles, fine efforts in first two beginners' chases, the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) ![]() Western Fold |
7/2(+30%) | (11) Western Fold 7/2, Useful winner at 17f over hurdles. Found improvement in this sphere when creditable third of 15 in novice chase (16/1) at Naas (20.1f, soft) 18 days ago. May be capable of better yet. Two-time hurdles winner, 0-4 over fences and rated 134, held by Lombron on Gowran form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Maidenstreetprince |
17/2(+23%) | (6) Maidenstreetprince 17/2, Fairly useful chaser. Eleven runs since last win in 2022. Fourth of 7 in minor event chase at Leopardstown (17f, good to soft, 9/1) 24 days ago. Others preferred. 1-8 over hurdles, 0-6 over fences and rated 125, vulnerable to less exposed rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Backmersackme |
5/1(+55%) | (1) Backmersackme 5/1, Useful hurdler. 14/1, bit below form eighth of 17 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, soft) 12 days ago. Makes chase debut. Others more convincing. Chasing debutant, point and bumper winner, rated 127 over timber, watch the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Mighty Jeremy |
40/1(+50%) | (7) Mighty Jeremy 40/1, Fair hurdler. 80/1, eighteenth of 23 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (19.3f, good to soft). Off 11 months. Makes chase debut. First run for yard after leaving Liam G. O'Brien. Work to do. Chasing debutant, 3-19 over hurdles, new yard, may need this run and softer ground, watch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) ![]() Tumuch |
80/1(+36%) | (10) Tumuch 80/1, Fair hurdler. 100/1, eighth of 15 in novice chase at Naas (20.1f, soft) 18 days ago. Improvement required. Point winner, huge odds for both chase starts and never figured, may need more time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Rockbrook |
40/1(+50%) | (9) Rockbrook 40/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 2 wins from 4 runs this season. Eighth of 13 in novice chase at this course (20.3f, soft, 20/1) on debut over fences 42 days ago. Should progress. Mudlark is 3-14 over hurdles and rated 112, well beaten over C&D on chase debut, oppose. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Fromquintotulla |
250/1(-25%) | (3) Fromquintotulla 250/1, Once-raced maiden. Fourteenth of 16 in bumper at Punchestown (16f, good to soft, 150/1) on NH debut. Off 23 months. Makes chase debut. Up in trip. Best watched. Maiden pointer, well beaten in a bumper, best watched on chase debut. |
Paul Townend sides with RATH GAUL BOY and the Well Chosen gelding is unexposed in this sphere. He was a touch keen when third to Springt De La Mare on his debut over fences at Punchestown last month. He improved for a run last year and this better ground may suit him. Stablemate Lombron has run a couple of solid races over fences to date and is entitled to be a big player as well. Western Fold has a decent mark of 134 and has experience on his side. He also has to be respected.
RATH GAUL BOY made a pleasing chase debut at Punchestown last month and is the choice of Paul Townend. He gets the nod. Dancingondaceiling and Lombron are feared most.
If LOMBRON repeats the level of form he has shown on his last two runs he is the one they all have to beat.

1st (6) ![]() Media Mogul |
85/40(+39%) | (6) Media Mogul 85/40, Lightly-raced 4-y-o who took another step forward when good second of 6 in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f) 23 days ago. Cheekpieces go on for the 1st time and interesting with the prospect of more to come. Unexposed 4yo who had a near-miss in a Newcastle handicap (1m4f) last time; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() It's A Love Thing |
11/4(-38%) | (4) It's A Love Thing 11/4, Took advantage of much-reduced mark at Newcastle (10.2f) and confirmed he's right back at the top of his game when following up in 8-runner handicap at this course (9.5f) 5 days ago, readily. Needs considering turned out quickly under a penalty. Resurgent 7yo who is well treated under a penalty for his win here last time; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Upepo |
15/2(-88%) | (3) Upepo 15/2, Three wins from 12 runs last year and back on the scoresheet in 9-runner handicap at this C&D 30 days ago, well on top finish. 4 lb rise makes things tougher but respected as an in-form sort. Made it 5-16 on AW when scoring over C&D last month; respected up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Naomhi |
12/1(-50%) | (2) Naomhi 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden on Flat. 10/1, fifth of 8 in handicap at this course (9.5f), not seen to best effect in a modestly-run affair. Return to this longer trip expected to suit and better showing anticipated under Hollie Doyle. Unexposed 5yo and she's a possible improver back up in trip after a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Come On John |
7/2(+30%) | (7) Come On John 7/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in March. 5/4, creditable second of 10 in handicap at Southwell (12.1f) 6 days ago, staying on. Being kept very busy and likely he can give a good account once more Hold-up performer who has been in good form recently including a C&D win; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Cogital |
80/1(-142%) | (1) Cogital 80/1, Fairly useful handicapper who scored twice during a productive 2023 campaign. However, absent 20 months before coming in last of 11 in handicap at Kempton (12f) in December. This should reveal more. Back from long absence when tailed off at Kempton (1m4f) in December; opposable. |
It's A Love Thing has to be respected following two wins earlier in the month, but marginal preference is for MEDIA MOGUL. Ed Walker's gelding was only beaten a head into second at Newcastle last time and the first-time application of cheekpieces may bring about further progression. Upepo scored over C&D a month ago and is another with valid form claims.
A few in-form sorts in opposition, including low-mileage 4-y-o MEDIA MOGUL who marked himself down as a sure-fire future winner when finding only a similarly unexposed rival too strong at Newcastle 23 days ago (the pair clear). He gets the nod over the hat-trick seeking It's A Love Thing. Naomhi is another to keep an eye on given his lightly-raced profile.
The vote goes to the resurgent IT'S A LOVE THING (nap) who is well treated under a penalty for his comfortable win here on Saturday.

1st (3) ![]() Ceolwulf |
10/3(+26%) | (3) Ceolwulf 10/3, Made an encouraging return from a 16-month absence when third at Sedgefield last winter and proved he retains plenty ability on return from nearly another year off when runner-up at Leicester in February, sticking to his task admirably. In the mix having been given 6 weeks ahead of this. Had subsequent winner Yes And Yes behind when second to a Pipe improver at Leicester. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() King Of The Hill |
12/1(+25%) | (7) King Of The Hill 12/1, Maiden/hurdler/chaser who not for the first time appeared to find 3m taxing his stamina when pulled up at Uttoxeter in June of last year. This rates a more suitable assignment back from 9 months off and pick of his exploits suggest he's capable of making an impact from this sort of mark. Has placed form in this discipline but has been absent since pulling up last June. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Yes And Yes |
2/1(+0%) | (4) Yes And Yes 2/1, Maiden hurdler who was much sharper with her reappearance behind her when readily off the mark in 8-runner handicap chase at Chepstow (19.5f) 11 days ago, the return to a sounder surface seemingly a big factor. Big shout with a repeat under a penalty Appreciated the good ground when a convincing winner at Chepstow; penalised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Zmiinyi |
4/1(+20%) | (5) Zmiinyi 4/1, Bettered hurdles form at first attempt over fences in race that worked out well when runner-up in handicap chase at Market Rasen (21.4f) in November. Next run best overlooked and whilst absent since pulling up at Exeter (19.2f) in December, it's feasible to think he can get back on track. Second in November so the ability is there should he be all the better for a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Micro Millions |
11/1(-10%) | (2) Micro Millions 11/1, Won an Irish point and made the frame 3 times over hurdles for Dan Skelton last term. Low-key efforts first 3 starts over fences for this yard but better signs from sliding mark of late, run out of a place late when fourth at Hereford (25.2f) 3 weeks ago. Not dismissed down in trip. Beaten 14l and about 10l in his last two races and needs extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Glimpse Of Glory |
4/1(-14%) | (1) Glimpse Of Glory 4/1, Fair maiden hurdler at best who got back on track sent chasing in first-time blinkers when a length third of 7 novices' handicap at Ludlow (2m) 5 weeks ago. Didn't entirely convince he was putting it all in then but he's capable of playing part from this mark. Back up up in trip. Close third on his chase debut but he did look a hard ride in the first-time blinkers. |
Ceolwulf occupied the runner-up berth at Leicester last month and has to be respected off just a 2lb higher mark. However, it may pay to side with YES AND YES, who appreciated the return to a sounder surface when victorious at Chepstow on his latest outing and now has a 7lb penalty to carry. With the likelihood of more to come on only his fourth start over fences, he could prove difficult to beat. Glimpse Of Glory completes the shortlist.
YES AND YES showed much improved form away from testing ground when readily opening his account in an 8-runner handicap chase at Chepstow 11 days ago (value for double the winning margin) and he holds sound follow-up claims on that evidence under a penalty. Zimiinyi, on return from a break, and Glimpse of Glory, provided the headgear has the desired effect second time, are others to consider.
The suggestion is YES AND YES (nap) who does have a penalty for winning at Chepstow but the good ground made a big difference to him.

1st (8) ![]() Rock Sensation |
9/2(-29%) | (8) Rock Sensation 9/2, Second in sole point. 15/8, seventh of 13 in Uttoxeter bumper on heavy in December, weakening after racing freely. Evidently thought capable of better by good stable. Point runner-up; merely mid-division in sole bumper but could be capable of much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) ![]() Service Minimum |
11/8(+50%) | (11) Service Minimum 11/8, Placed in bumpers at Uttoxeter and Warwick towards the end of 2024. Another prominent showing is likely back from a break. Placed in strong bumpers on first two starts and holds leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Scavengers Reign |
17/2(+0%) | (10) Scavengers Reign 17/2, 3/1, third of 9 in bumper at Newcastle (AW) on debut 58 days ago, running on despite showing signs of greenness. Should go well. Third in a point and a bumper and with a good yard to progress; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Harmony Heights |
11/1(-10%) | (3) Harmony Heights 11/1, Made the frame on both point outings. Promise when fourth on Uttoxeter bumper debut but well beaten at Chepstow since. Fair fourth on bumper debut; lesser run on heavy ground since; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Misty Sunrise |
10/1(-122%) | (6) Misty Sunrise 10/1, €58,000 Blue Bresil mare. Dam, lightly raced over hurdles, 1¼m winner on Flat, half-sister to bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler (stayed 3m) Early Morning Rain. Respected newcomer from a yard with a good bumper strike-rate. 58,000euros 3yo; dam Flat winner; in good hands; could play a leading role on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Harley's Pride |
16/1(-14%) | (2) Harley's Pride 16/1, 28/1, showed a bit when fourth of 7 in bumper at Punchestown (good) on debut in October. Has switched to David Pipe ahead of this first outing for 5 months. Potential improver. Encouraging fourth of seven on debut at Punchestown and the form has worked out well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Miss Tinkerbell |
14/1(-100%) | (5) Miss Tinkerbell 14/1, 10/1 and blinkered, fourth of 8 in bumper at Wincanton (heavy) on debut 56 days ago. More will be needed. Fair fourth on debut at Wincanton and she's open to improvement; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Miss The Sting |
33/1(+67%) | (4) Miss The Sting 33/1, Scorpion mare. Dam 2¼m bumper winner/fairly useful 2m hurdle winner. Her stable isn't really known for bumper winners. First foal; dam bumper/2m hurdle winner (RPR 126); not ruled out on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() Rightofway |
66/1(+0%) | (7) Rightofway 66/1, Offered plenty to work on when fourth of 16 on her Warwick debut in November 2023 but not seen again until well beaten there last month. Promising fourth on debut in November 2023 but then absent until heavy defeat last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Scarlett Glance |
400/1(-220%) | (9) Scarlett Glance 400/1, Beaten a long way in 2 bumpers this winter. Tailed off at massive odds on both starts. |
SERVICE MINIMUM confirmed the promise she displayed on debut when second at Ludlow and Dan Skelton's mare is clearly the one to beat on the back of that performance. Miss Tinkerbell was well held on her racecourse bow, but is likely to improve for the experience and should not be discounted. The shortlist is completed by Rock Sensation, Harley's Pride and Misty Sunrise.
ROCK SENSATION was too keen to last home under testing conditions on her Uttoxeter debut on New Year's Eve but the strength behind her in the market on that occasion suggests she's well regarded by a good stable and she could prove a different proposition faced with a sounder surface this time. Service Minimum and Scavengers Reign have the form to figure, while Misty Sunrise is an interesting newcomer for the Olly Murphy stable.
The Dan Skelton-trained SERVICE MINIMUM has shown strong form in defeat on both starts and can get off the mark.

1st (12) ![]() Ik's Man |
25/1(0%) | (12) Ik's Man 25/1, 21¾ lengths sixth of 15 to Maciver in handicap chase (14/1) at Limerick (22.8f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere. Beaten 22l in sixth behind Maciver at Limerick two weeks ago, unlikely to turn the tables. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (13) ![]() Emily In Paris |
9/2(+63%) | (13) Emily In Paris 9/2, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 9/2, good second of 13 in handicap chase at Punchestown (24.3f, good) 132 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Decent form as a hurdler/chaser before a break, prefers good ground but on a fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Pebble Bleu |
13/2(+35%) | (10) Pebble Bleu 13/2, Creditable fourth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (22.2f, good, 7/1) 12 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Merits consideration. Punchestown win last autumn came on good ground, fourth off lower hurdles mark on latest. |

4th (7) ![]() Bite That |
9/2(-13%) | (7) Bite That 9/2, Career best when winning 11-runner handicap chase at Wexford (19.4f, good to soft, 8/1) 10 days ago. Scored easily there so he's not taken lightly despite an 8 lb weights hike. Reeled off four seconds in a row before 8l Wexford win, could go well off 8lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Maciver |
11/2(+21%) | (5) Maciver 11/2, C&D winner. 4 wins from 7 runs this season. Career best when winning 15-runner handicap chase at Limerick (22.8f, good to soft, 5/1) 14 days ago, always holding on. Tongue strap back on. Firmly in the picture. Bids for a five-timer here, has gone up two stone for three chases wins, respected. |

6th (11) ![]() Robyndeglory |
28/1(+30%) | (11) Robyndeglory 28/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2023. 16/1, thirteenth of 16 in handicap hurdle at this course (24f, heavy) 28 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Very hard to make a case for. On a long losing run over hurdles, poor at this venue on latest after good Punchestown run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Doonbeg Don |
9/2(+18%) | (9) Doonbeg Don 9/2, Winner in chase at Galway in October. Very good second of 8 in handicap chase at Down Royal (20.4f, good to soft, 6/1) 65 days ago. Ought to go close nudged up 2lb . Has potential for further progress as a chaser to back up Galway win and Down Royal second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() Beau Walking |
12/1(+25%) | (2) Beau Walking 12/1, 20/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Punchestown (27f, soft) 35 days ago, pulled up 3 out. Modest chase form, faced tough task from 10lb out of the handicap at Punchestown last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) ![]() Jump The Shark |
12/1(+0%) | (8) Jump The Shark 12/1, 1 win from 3 runs this season. Pulled up in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (21f, soft, 10/1) 70 days ago, driven from 3 out. Yard having good spell so could bounce back. Downpatrick winner last spring; lame on next start, jumped poorly at Fairyhouse on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Harvey's Quay |
12/1(0%) | (4) Harvey's Quay 12/1, 9/1, fell 1st in handicap chase at Leopardstown (21.5f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Others more persuasive. Navan fourth was encouraging, confidence may have been dented by a fall at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) ![]() Walkonthebriteside |
16/1(+0%) | (14) Walkonthebriteside 16/1, Winner in hurdle at Wexford in August. Twelfth of 15 in handicap chase (9/2) at Wexford (25f, good to soft) on debut over fences. Off 6 months. Won a 3m hurdle at Wexford last August, veterinary excuse at the same venue on chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Tupelo Mississippi |
40/1(-150%) | (1) Tupelo Mississippi 40/1, Latest win in chase at Cartmel in July. 4/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Market Rasen (23.9f, good to firm), folding 5 out. Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving Brian Ellison. Five wins for Brian Ellison including a handicap chase, pulled up in a recent point. |
A competitive event and DOONBEG DON may prove the pick stepping back up in trip. He ran into a well-handicapped rival in Don't Talk at Down Royal back in January and that rival went on to frank the form. That was over an extended 2m4f and the Soldier Of Fortune gelding may be better suited by this extra yardage, having won over a similar trip on his chase debut at Galway last October. Maciver comes here in tip-top form, but a 9lb rise for his narrow Limerick victory makes things tougher. Bite That won easily at Wexford and also has to be on the shortlist.
A few with chances but DOONBEG DON rates the pick of these weights on the back of a very good Down Royal second last time out so gets the vote. Both Emily In Paris and Bite That rate big threats though, while Pebble Bleu, Maciver and Baldur's Gate need factoring in too.
Winner of his last four races, Maciver deserves respect. However, preference is for the relatively inexperienced DOONBEG DON

17/2(-89%) | (9) Second Collection 17/2, Four-time course winner who posted a good second of 10 to My Turn Now in minor event here (5.1f, 7/2) 10 days ago. Enjoys a 5 lb weights pull here so holds leading claims. Two C&D wins but mostly runs over 5f now; creditable 2nd in similar C&D race in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) ![]() Ustath |
11/2(+54%) | (12) Ustath 11/2, C&D winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2024. 14/1, creditable fourth of 11 in minor event at this C&D 12 days ago. Needs considering. Little between him and May Remain on C&D form 12 days ago; B Loughnane up this time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() May Remain |
12/1(-85%) | (6) May Remain 12/1, C&D winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2024. 20/1, good second of 11 in minor event at this C&D 12 days ago. In the picture. Two course wins in 2023; harder to place now but lost out only late over C&D 12 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() My Turn Now |
6/1(+0%) | (1) My Turn Now 6/1, Resumed winning ways in 10-runner minor event (12/1) at this course (5.1f) 10 days ago by length from Second Collection, suited by strong pace. In the mix once more. Won 4 of her last 9 starts, latest over 5f here; good chance back at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Sea The Buckthorn |
66/1(-100%) | (8) Sea The Buckthorn 66/1, Course winner but he came in last of 9 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 26 days ago. Something to find on form. Sole win over 7f here last January; out of luck at that trip since; first attempt at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) ![]() Tommytwohoots |
9/1(-50%) | (11) Tommytwohoots 9/1, C&D winner. 11/2, eighth of 11 in minor event at Newcastle (5f) 17 days ago, not ideally placed. Back up in trip. Enters calculations. Wide-margin turf win in October; on the premises at Newcastle this winter; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Anglesey Lad |
11/4(+61%) | (2) Anglesey Lad 11/4, 12/1, creditable sixth of 10 in handicap at this course (5.1f) 12 days ago. Not taken lightly in his bid for a maiden victory. Two good turf runs at about 6f last spring; not far away in a better race here latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() The Cola Kid |
11/2(+61%) | (10) The Cola Kid 11/2, Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 22/1, good fourth of 9 in minor event at this course (7.2f) 16 days ago. One for the shortlist. Latest three wins in 2023; retained ability last year but not yet recaptured best in 2025. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (5) ![]() Gypsy Nation |
11/1(-83%) | (5) Gypsy Nation 11/1, Remains a maiden after 18 Flat runs. Not disgraced when fourth of 7 in minor event at this C&D (20/1) 24 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Others remain more persuasive though. Maiden who's tried various trips; close up over C&D latest; cheekpieces return. |
My Turn Now had a length to spare over SECOND COLLECTION when they clashed over 5f here 10 days ago and should go well again. However, the latter is already a dual C&D winner and, armed with a 5lb pull in the weights, she can turn the form around back over this trip. Tommytwohoots and Ustath also have winning form here and are other each-way alternatives to consider.
A case can be made for a few of these but SECOND COLLECTION rates the pick of the weights so is fancied to bag a fifth course win and turn the tables on recent conqueror My Turn Now on these more advantageous terms. Michael Attwater's mare still looks the chief threat, although Tommytwohoots, Anglesey Lad, Ustath and The Cola Kid all enter the reckoning too.
My Turn Now has plenty going for her despite the penalty but perhaps this is the day when things fall right for ANGLESEY LAD.

1st (2) ![]() Holeshot |
15/8(-25%) | (2) Holeshot 15/8, Left handicap debut fifth well behind when showing much improved form over a longer trip latest, making all to land an 8-runner handicap hurdle at Taunton (19f, soft) in taking fashion. Has to contend with a 10 lb rise and step up in grade but unlikely we've seen the best of this unexposed type. Back from a break to make a lot of the running at Taunton and the form has been franked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Chief Sunday |
9/4(+44%) | (1) Chief Sunday 9/4, Progressive type was denied at a hat-trick when runner-up at Ludlow last month (15.8f), a race that is working out extremely well with the first and third having won next time out. Could well be more to come from this lightly-raced sort. Hat-trick bid came up shy at Ludlow but the winner benefited from a bold ride. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Denzil |
4/1(+20%) | (5) Denzil 4/1, Landed a 3-runner race on debut at Stratford, and despite being outclassed at Listed level on next start, bounced back with a brace of runners-up efforts. Easy to back when last on handicap debut but could be interesting if market vibes are more positive in receipt of a handy 4-y-o allowance. Very weak in the betting when tailed off on his handicap debut at Doncaster. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() What's One More |
11/4(0%) | (4) What's One More 11/4, Lightly-raced mare often races keenly (including when landing a bumper last season) and was again too free when tackling a longer trip on second start in handicap company latest (Fontwell 19.1f), failing to see out her race after making smooth headway. Big player if relaxing back over 2 miles. Beaten favourite last time but drops back in distance here and she retains potential. |
Holeshot bolted up over 2m3f at Taunton last month, but preference is for CHIEF SUNDAY. Nigel Twiston-Davies' gelding came up short in his hat-trick bid last time, but that form has worked out well and a further 3lb rise in the handicap might underestimate him. What's One More weakened having been keen over 2m3f at Fontwell three weeks ago, so a drop in trip could aid her chance.
A case can be made for each of the quintet, the strongest for smooth-travelling WHAT’S ONE MORE who could prove well-handicapped if she can settle better back at 2 miles, in a race that may well be run to suit. Chief danger is the unexposed Holeshot who won in the style of an improving horse last month and he might be able to cope with this step up in grade and sharper test, while Chief Sunday has to be respected with the form of his latest second working out particularly well.
Holeshot and Chief Sunday have solid chances but WHAT'S ONE MORE appeals as a mare with more to offer.

1st (4) ![]() Koapey |
4/11(+56%) | (4) Koapey 4/11, Fair form when second only start in bumpers and has shaped with plenty of encouragement in filling the same spot both outings over hurdles, going off too hard in 11-runner minor event at Newbury (16.3f) on most recent outing in December. Remains open to improvement and has leading claims. Runner-up on all three starts and holds stand-out form claims today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Wind Your Neck In |
25/1(-56%) | (8) Wind Your Neck In 25/1, Hadn't beaten a rival in 2 Flat starts for the yard and was far too free on Newcastle hurdling debut. Useful on the Flat at his best but tailed off on recent hurdle debut at Newcastle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Dunskay |
5/2(-33%) | (1) Dunskay 5/2, Looked good prospect when winning a couple of bumpers last season. However, shaped as if amiss on Ffos Las hurdle debut/return in January and, while he fared better at Warwick subsequently, he again didn't really see his race out. Two-time bumper winner; fair third on second hurdle start and open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) ![]() Saviour |
7/1(+0%) | (10) Saviour 7/1, Fair maiden on the Flat (often raced freely) and from the family of a useful hurdler. Shaped better than on hurdling debut when third in 7-runner juvenile at Doncaster (16,6f) in December but could do with settling down a bit. Fair third at Doncaster on second hurdle start and he's an each-way contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Secret Vino |
40/1(+39%) | (6) Secret Vino 40/1, Sent off 66/1 when well held in a Worcester bumper on debut in July. Well beaten at 66-1 on debut last July and probably best watched on first run since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Carrigeen Ardisia |
33/1(+34%) | (9) Carrigeen Ardisia 33/1, Well held only outing in bumpers and didn't achieve much on recent Catterick hurdle debut. Soundly beaten on both starts and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Tommy Tucker |
150/1(-20%) | (7) Tommy Tucker 150/1, Has shown nothing in maiden/novice hurdles. Massive odds and yet to complete in three runs over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Kaboul Manhattan |
250/1(-100%) | (3) Kaboul Manhattan 250/1, Showed nothing when pulled up in maiden hurdle at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to soft) on debut last month. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Pulled up at 150-1 on last month's debut in maiden hurdle at Huntingdon. |
KOAPEY has done little wrong in filling the runner-up spot in each of his three previous starts and can take advantage of dropping back down in class. He simply went off too quickly, failing to last home at Newbury most recently, but Sean Bowen taking over in the saddle could provide the missing ingredient. Dual bumper winner Dunskay is feared most, although Saviour has scope for progression and is dangerous to underestimate.
KOAPEY has shaped with plenty of encouragement in finishing runner-up on both starts over hurdles, and this looks an excellent opportunity to make it third time lucky. Dunskay has been underwhelming so far over hurdles considering his bumper form, but did at least show more second time up at Warwick earlier in the month and rates the main threat ahead of Saviour, who could do with settling down.
This should be a good opportunity for KOAPEY, who has bumped into some good horses when runner-up on his three starts.

13th (14) ![]() Koolio Kate |
100/1(-100%) | (14) Koolio Kate 100/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fourteenth of 18 in bumper at Thurles (16.1f, good, 66/1) 96 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Hooded for 1st time. Beaten a long way in a pair of Thurles bumpers over a year apart; impossible to recommend. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (8) ![]() Mikey Maloo |
125/1(-279%) | (8) Mikey Maloo 125/1, Altruistic gelding. Dam lightly raced in bumpers/over hurdles. First foal; dam unplaced bumpers, 1m1f-1m6f Flat and 2m2f hurdle; hard to fancy on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (3) ![]() Captain P |
14/1(-133%) | (3) Captain P 14/1, €12,000 3-y-o, Jet Away gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 2¼m) Publican. Winning pointer so he needs considering on his Rules debut. Won a point at Tyrella in January; rules debut for Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) ![]() Crab Road |
100/1(-100%) | (16) Crab Road 100/1, Affinisea gelding. Dam unraced. Market can guide on his hurdles debut. Dam out of unraced close relative of 1m2f-1m4f Group 1 winner Kutub; best watched though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) ![]() Wildfield Sky |
125/1(-150%) | (15) Wildfield Sky 125/1, Once-raced maiden. 80/1, thirteenth of 18 in bumper at Thurles (15.6f, good to soft) on NH debut 21 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Top rider booked for bumper debut at Thurles three weeks ago but ran no race whatsoever. |
A moderate looking contest and Cian Collins might be able to take it with point-to-point winner CAPTAIN P. The Jet Away gelding took a five-year-old maiden at Tyrella in January and the horse that chased him home has run really well to be placed in two maiden hurdles since. Pour One More has produced some nice bumper runs this season, including when fourth at Limerick recently. He could be a danger on his jumping debut. Rockonliam was well supported when sixth on his first outing for Henry de Bromhead at Tramore on New Year's Day and may get closer now in this company.
HOWDOYALIKEHERHOME holds the clear edge on form and is fancied to bely his absence and make a winning start for Gordon Elliott here. Rockonliam has better days ahead of him and could emerge as the chief threat, although Captain P, Be Positive and Tsavo Park can all have a say too.
ROCKONLIAM disappointed at Tramore on New Year's Day when strong in the betting but the stable is in much better form now

18/1(+45%) | (10) Savalas 18/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in November. Seventh of 9 in minor event at this C&D (11/1) 24 days ago, left poorly placed. Cheekpieces back on and not discounted. C&D win last November; patchy since but may find this being run to suit his hold-up style. |

11/2(0%) | (6) Lion's Dream 11/2, Ended a long losing run in 11-runner minor event over C&D 12 days ago. Very much one to consider. Ended losing run of 22 when asserting late in a similar race here 12 days ago; respected. |

10/11(+24%) | (1) Mashaan 10/11, Fair gelding. Course winner who improved on recent efforts to win 9-runner handicap (4/1) at Lingfield (7f, AW) 3 days ago. Sets the benchmark here. Course winner; easy 7f success at Lingfield on Monday; 0-15 at 6f but still a key player. |

100/1(-150%) | (8) Posh Maisie 100/1, Seventh of 10 in minor event at this course (5.1f, 150/1) 10 days ago. Chance on old form. Limited encouragement for current stable and she looks vulnerable once more. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Red Walls |
17/2(+58%) | (9) Red Walls 17/2, Five-time course winner but he came in just eighth of 9 in handicap (16/1) over C&D 3 days ago, doing too much too soon. Still needs to take a step forward. C&D win in January; in and out since and likely to have other pace to deal with today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) ![]() Himawari |
33/1(+0%) | (5) Himawari 33/1, Modest filly. Seventh of 11 in handicap (28/1) at this course (5.1f) 13 days ago. Hood back on with more required. Inconsistent maiden; this is her level but others look more appealing for the win. |
MASHAAN seems best when racing on the front end and is handily drawn to launch a bold attempt at following up Monday's win over 7f in a handicap at Lingfield. Dropping back down a furlong isn't a major worry for the Alice Haynes-trained seven-year-old, although the likes of Lion's Dream and Nordic Glory are likely types to capitalise if the shorter trip does catch him out.
Alice Haynes' MASHAAN holds a clear edge at these weights so is taken to follow up his recent Lingfield handicap victory at the chief expense of C&D scorer Lion's Dream. Fellow C&D scorers Nordic Glory and Global Effort also need factoring into this competitive classified event.
Mashaan isn't opposed lightly but Lion's Dream and the veteran SAVALAS are plausible alternatives.

9/2(+63%) | (6) Stans The Man 9/2, Done well since switched back to fences this season, winning good-ground handicaps at Exeter (24.3f) and Doncaster (26f) in November. Needs to bounce back from a poor effort at Uttoxeter earlier this month but ought to have ground conditions to suit. Dropped his guard the last twice and he's accustomed to lower-grade races than this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Peejaybee |
11/2(+31%) | (5) Peejaybee 11/2, Successful 3 times over hurdles and notched second win in this sphere when landing a Perth handicap (20.1f) in September. Largely performed well in defeat since (clearly wasn't himself at Market Rasen latest) and can't be ruled out. Never travelled last time but he has a big run in him if back on song. |
THE DOYEN CHIEF gained a deserved first chase success at Kempton earlier this month and, under ideal conditions, Alan King's eight-year-old is expected to defy a 5lb rise in the handicap. Snipe has contested a couple of warm premier handicaps recently and he merits respect eased in grade, with cheekpieces applied for the first time. Ballycamus has won two of his last three starts and should not be overlooked.
The addition of headgear may well benefit SNIPE, who has been running well in better company this term and remains fairly treated. He gets the nod. Recent Kempton winner The Doyen Chief looks the obvious danger.
A spring horse, C&D winner SAIL AWAY is not without hope of reversing Kempton placings with The Doyen Chief.

1st (4) ![]() Coastal Rock |
15/8(-181%) | (4) Coastal Rock 15/8, Opened account at Uttoxeter (19.9f) in November and got back to winning ways in 4-runner handicap hurdle at Bangor (23.2f, heavy) last month, the emphasis on stamina playing to his strengths, despite some sloppy jumping. Lightly-raced sort should appreciate slightly longer trip and merits respect. 2-4 in handicaps; leading claims if handling the forecast better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Rockadenn |
15/2(+53%) | (5) Rockadenn 15/2, Useful hurdler/chaser at his best for previous yards but has yet to shine for current connections, going backwards from his reappearance when well-held at Fontwell (21.8f, heavy) 32 days ago. First-time cheekpieces need to spark a revival. Well handicapped on old form but soundly beaten on both starts this year, after absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Feivel |
7/2(+36%) | (2) Feivel 7/2, Dual hurdles winner last season and finished second in the Southern National on reappearance in November. Hinted at a return to that sort of form back over hurdles in first-time visor (retained) latest but paid the price for overly aggressive tactics. Interesting back off last winning hurdles mark. On a handy mark on form as recent as November but he's been disappointing since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Enjoy D'allen |
11/1(+8%) | (3) Enjoy D'allen 11/1, Veteran on a losing run that stretches back to 2021, never travelled well on final start for Ciaran Murphy when seventh of 15 in a chase at Punchestown (24.9f) 52 days ago. Looks to have plenty on his plate back over smaller obstacles on stable debut. Very useful chaser in his prime; not the force of old; may be best watched on stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Tigerbythetail |
9/4(+44%) | (1) Tigerbythetail 9/4, Didn't need to improve to get off the mark in 7-runner maiden hurdle at Catterick (25.3f, good to soft) last month and far from disgraced when ridden by an amateur to finish third of 6 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (25f, good to soft) 35 days ago. Claims with regular jockey back aboard. Fair third at Huntingdon latest; not obviously well treated but could be involved. |
COASTAL ROCK has won two of his four starts since joining Olly Murphy and has a good chance of enhancing his strike-rate. He had something in hand when bouncing back to form at Bangor, where he readily banished a disappointing effort at Taunton to the memory. A 5lb higher rating looks workable for the follow-up attempt. Feivel is better treated in this sphere than he is over fences and is feared most. Top-weight Tigerbythetail is the pick of the remainder.
A contest lacking in depth and numbers, and it may pay to side with FEIVEL who has slipped back down to his latest winning hurdles mark having not been seen to best effect under an overly aggressive ride last time. Dual hurdles winner Coastal Rock is the least exposed of the field and could well improve again, while Tigerbythetail has largely run with credit this season and should be in the mix again.
The lightly raced COASTAL ROCK has won two of his last three starts and can score once more. Tigerbythetail is the likely danger.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) ![]() Mayo For Sam |
80/1(-21%) | (1) Mayo For Sam 80/1, Fair Flat winner. Once-raced maiden over hurdles. Twelfth of 20 in novice hurdle at Naas (16.2f, good to soft, 150/1) on NH debut 101 days ago. Flat recruit must concede weight to the field; soft ground against her; tough ask. |

80/1(-142%) | (13) Tolovelyoldmiltown 80/1, Dylan Thomas mare. Dam, ran once over hurdles, sister to useful hurdler/fairly useful chaser (stayed 25f) Archie Meade. Wears hood. Third foal; dam point winner, sister to winners Archie Meade and Somethingprecious; hooded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Finnicky Filly |
18/1(-50%) | (4) Finnicky Filly 18/1, Modest hurdler. Below form seventh of 14 in maiden hurdle (22/1) at this course (16.4f, soft) 114 days ago. Good fifth at Tipperary in November but failed to build on that promise when midfield here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) ![]() Thequeenof Spikle |
100/1(-52%) | (12) Thequeenof Spikle 100/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. Fourteenth of 18 in bumper at Thurles (15.6f, good to soft, 125/1) on bumper debut 21 days ago. Switches from bumpers to hurdles. Down the field in maiden hurdles last season and no impression in Thurles bumper on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) ![]() Times In Oz |
250/1(-400%) | (16) Times In Oz 250/1, Modest maiden on the Flat, making GB/IRE jumps debut. 100/1, first run since leaving Daniel James Murphy when last of 15 in handicap at Naas (5.9f, heavy) 4 days ago. Flat recruit 0-5 in that sphere; finished last at Naas four days ago; readily passed over. |
RACHEL'S SECRET ran much better last time after a disappointing effort on her return from a long absence at the start of the year. The six-year-old was well beaten in the end when third behind stablemate Custom Taylor at Limerick a fortnight ago, but travelled well until the turn and this drop back in trip should suit. She has the benefit of a recent run, which may prove the difference. Ashdale Flyer had some solid runs last season and, with a mark of 100, she's entitled to be thereabouts. Shannon Bank was placed twice in bumpers and she's another to consider on her jumping bow.
RACHEL'S SECRET made a sound enough start for new trainer Declan Queally when third at Limerick a fortnight ago and might prove the answer to what looks an ordinary maiden. Jessie Harrington's Ashdale Flyer will be a threat if fully primed after 6 months off, while Shannon Bank has achieved enough in bumpers to think she could make her presence felt in a race like this
Declan Queally runs three in this contest but RACHEL'S SECRET is by far the standout and she should take some beating

1st (3) ![]() I Maximus |
4/7(+70%) | (3) I Maximus 4/7, 11/8, looked the pick on form but disappointed when seventh of 13 in maiden at Newbury (6f, good to soft) 6 months ago, possibly unsuited by softer ground. In the mix if ready to roll (has been gelded in the interim). Fair ability first two starts, notably second in 6f AW novice, before struggling on soft. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) ![]() Blue Rc |
6/1(-50%) | (1) Blue Rc 6/1, Blue Point colt. Half-brother to 5f/6f winner Invincible Speed. Dam unraced. Makes plenty of appeal on paper for an in-form yard. Wears hood. Half-brother to a useful AW sprint winner for the same connections; hooded for debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Cooramook |
18/1(-112%) | (7) Cooramook 18/1, Shaped much better than first time up when fifth of 9 in novice at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 10/1) 6 months ago. Could be an interesting handicapper after this outing. Caught the eye when fifth in 7f Wolverhampton fillies' novice in October on second start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Dream Out Loud |
8/1(-140%) | (2) Dream Out Loud 8/1, Improved on debut form to finish second once again in 6-runner maiden (5/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 13 days ago. Remains with potential and shouldn't be long in going one better. Modest form in finishing runner-up in two 6f AW events elsewhere; more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Special Acclaim |
20/1(-43%) | (6) Special Acclaim 20/1, 32,000 gns yearling, Acclamation gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to very smart winner up to 1¼m Special Kaldoun. Market check advised. 32,000gns yearling; by a good sprint sire, although already gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Juba |
5/1(+17%) | (4) Juba 5/1, 40/1, showed quite a bit more than on debut 3 months earlier when sixth of 9 in maiden at Newbury (6f, soft) when last seen in September. Needs to build on that on all-weather debut/return. Looked to show ability on soft turf last year but form isn't robust; off since September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Sir Kenny |
125/1(-25%) | (5) Sir Kenny 125/1, 100/1, made an unpromising start to career when tailed-off last of 12 in novice at Bath (8f, soft) on debut 6 months ago. Down in trip and looks one for low-grade handicaps down the line (has had a wind op). 1,000gns yearling; 100-1 when tailed off in 1m heavy-ground Bath novice in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Desert Beauty |
50/1(-178%) | (8) Desert Beauty 50/1, Oasis Dream filly. Dam unraced. Check betting. Yard also saddles Sir Kenny. By a good sire but there's less appeal on the dam's side of her pedigree. |
I MAXIMUS contested a few useful novice/maiden events last season and this looks a good opportunity for him. The son of Zoustar is related to three winners who were all successful on the all-weather, and an official rating of 81 sets a decent standard. Dream Out Loud has filled the runner-up spot on both of his racecourse appearances and is unlikely to be far away, while Cooramook appeals most of the remainder.
A tricky opener to solve but the suggestion is DREAM OUT LOUD, who improved on his debut form to finish second once again at Wolverhampton earlier this month and Andrew Balding's 3-y-o can make it third time lucky. Heading up the dangers is Blue Rc, who ticks plenty of boxes on paper and represents a yard amongst the winners. I Maximus and Juba can fight out minor honours.
There are three newcomers to look at, but COORAMOOK has shown ability and should still have more to give.

2/1(-45%) | (1) Pessoa 2/1, Five-time course winner, the latest over 7f 9 days ago. Should go well under a 5 lb penalty. Five-time course winner, most recently last week; respected back up in trip under penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Port Noir |
5/1(+44%) | (4) Port Noir 5/1, Six-time course winner. Three wins from 29 runs last year. Failed to fire when seventh of 8 over 9.5f here 13 days ago but back on a mark she should be capable of going close from. Six of ten wins have been at this track and she's on a workable mark; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Annalee Lass |
4/1(+33%) | (5) Annalee Lass 4/1, C&D winner last month. Bit below form when fourth of 8 in handicap (13/2) at Newcastle (1m) 26 days ago. Not easy to predict but she won over C&D on penultimate run; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Absolutely Not |
11/1(-83%) | (3) Absolutely Not 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 40/1, seventh of 9 in maiden at Lingfield (1m) 22 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Much less exposed than the rest of these and interesting to see what the betting makes of her. In good hands and still early days but she needs a transformation on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Blue Jay Way |
66/1(-230%) | (8) Blue Jay Way 66/1, Poor maiden. Good third at Catterick (6f) in October but well beaten at Redcar the following month. Significantly back up in trip on return. Cheekpieces also back on. 16-race maiden who still has stamina to prove at this trip; best watched on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Haaf A Diamond |
14/1(+58%) | (9) Haaf A Diamond 14/1, Out of sorts when last seen in September. A watching brief is advised back from 6 months off. Out of sorts last year and needs a major revival after six months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() Voltaic |
11/2(+27%) | (2) Voltaic 11/2, C&D winner. Three wins from 14 runs last year. Bit below form when sixth of 11 in handicap (8/1) at this course (7f) 9 days ago. Back up in trip. On workable mark but he's not easy to predict and was quiet here last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) ![]() Possible Ambition |
80/1(-100%) | (6) Possible Ambition 80/1, Last of 12 in handicap (150/1) at Southwell (1m) 16 days ago. Lightly raced in last 12 months and has struggled in last three runs; lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Scarfo |
25/1(-56%) | (10) Scarfo 25/1, Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2024. Sixth of 9 in C&D classified event 10 days ago. Not easy to make a case for. Held in sixth here in last two runs and he's now 1-16; others look stronger. |
C&D winner PESSOA has landed races back-to-back before and can repeat the feat after running on to score convincingly over 7f here last week. A 5lb penalty make things tougher for the six-year-old, but his proven liking for this venue is enough of a countering factor in his bid to gain a sixth Wolverhampton success. Port Noir is also effective here and commands respect from a winning mark. Fellow track-and-trip scorer Annalee Lass is another must for the shortlist.
Last week's 7f course scorer PESSOA is just as effective over this trip and is taken to defy a penalty. Port Noir is on a mark she really ought to be up to going close from, while an unexposed profile offers Absolutely Not the scope for better in handicaps.
Preference is for PESSOA, who got back on the scorsesheet with a strong-finishing win over 7f here last week.

Hey Buddy possibly the stable first string on jockey bookings but the betting will provide more clues. Second foal; dam maiden hurdler and sister to two successful jumpers. |

7th (7) ![]() Queens Ginger |
20/1(-25%) | (7) Queens Ginger 20/1, Diamond Boy mare. Dam (h117), bumper/2m-2½m hurdle winner, half-sister to bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler (stayed 25f) Taradrewe. The stable is 1-25 in bumpers in the last 5 seasons. First foal out of a bumper and 2m/2m4f hurdle winner. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (11) ![]() North Nestor |
14/1(-17%) | (11) North Nestor 14/1, Linda's Lad gelding. Dam (b93) bumper winner. Trainer has done well in similar races this season. Would enter the reckoning if the betting vibes are strong. The stable's four bumper winners this season have included newcomers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) ![]() She's A Woman |
40/1(+20%) | (8) She's A Woman 40/1, Bollin Eric mare. Dam fair 2m/2¼m hurdle winner, also 1¾m winner on Flat. A watching brief is the percentage call on debut. Second foal; dam 1m6f Flat (RPR 62) and 2m/2m1f hurdle winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) ![]() Java Jackie |
80/1(-100%) | (6) Java Jackie 80/1, Jack Hobbs mare. Dam (h99) 2m hurdle winner, also 1¼m-1½m winner on Flat. A first bumper runner for the trainer. Second foal out of a Flat (1m2f-1m4f) and hurdle winner; others appeal more on paper. |
Fergal O'Brien often does well in bumpers and Hey Buddy looks to be his leading hope with stable jockey Jonathan Burke aboard. Queens Ginger and Liam Mera Kai are others that warrant a market check, but the vote goes to DUTCH CORNER. The son of Getaway, a 50,000-euro purchase and a half-brother to the classy Yorkhill, makes considerable appeal and given the magnitude of his stable, it would be surprising were he not to be on the premises.
Dan Skelton has sent out 24 bumper winners this season so Yorkhill's brother DUTCH CORNER gets the tentative vote in this newcomers bumper, with confidence increased should the betting vibes be strong. Hey Buddy, the mount of Jonathan Burke from the Fergal O'Brien pair, and Tom Weston's North Nestor are other likely types on paper before any market clues are known.
The market should be revealing but HEY BUDDY, Dutch Corner, Not At That Price and Pioneer Pete all look likely types.

1st (7) ![]() Ivane |
5/4(+62%) | (7) Ivane 5/4, A fair ex-Irish 2m hurdles winner who made a promising start for his new yard when a clear second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (21.8f, good) 10 days ago. Merits serious consideration off the same mark. Went close on recent stable debut at Fontwell and runs before 5lb rise kicks in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) ![]() Rock On Tommy |
9/1(+36%) | (9) Rock On Tommy 9/1, It's now 13 runs since his last win in 2023 and he came in a below-form fifth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to soft) 25 days ago, going in snatches. Up in trip with more required. 10yo who is without a win since July 2023 but has run some fair races this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Sailed Away |
11/4(+58%) | (5) Sailed Away 11/4, Only twice raced this term but he shaped well when fourth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f, good) 23 days ago, fading late on. Well worth considering with that run under his belt. Returned from another break with fair fourth three weeks ago and could build on that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Larkfield Lusive |
9/2(+44%) | (8) Larkfield Lusive 9/2, Remains a maiden after 17 runs but he posted a good third of 13 in handicap hurdle at Hexham (16.2f, good to soft) 14 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and in the mix. 0-17 but third in this last year off a higher mark and he holds each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Shan't Wait |
14/1(+13%) | (1) Shan't Wait 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden but he failed to build on earlier promise when seventh of 8 on his handicap debut at Doncaster (20.8f, good) 25 days ago. Not written off. Well beaten on handicap debut but sent off just 3-1 and shouldn't be written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Flighttothestars |
80/1(+20%) | (4) Flighttothestars 80/1, Still a maiden and she hung badly left before being pulled up in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (20.7f, good) 15 days ago. One to avoid. Has shown ability but pulled up this year in her first two handicaps. |
Turned out again quickly after an easy success at Sedgefield last week, SCORSESE is likely to have plenty more improvement forthcoming and he can follow up under a 7lb penalty. Not beaten far when an untidy jump at the last cost him at Fontwell, Ivane is entitled to be thereabouts again on his second run for new connections. Sailed Away has dropped to a mark just 2lb above his last victory and cannot be ruled out with confidence.
IVANE shaped well when a clear second at Fontwell last week on his first run for the excellent James Owen and is fancied to go one better off an unchanged mark. Recent Sedgefield scorer Scorsese is feared most under a 7 lb penalty with Sailed Away, Klapton Boy and Shan't Wait all worthy of consideration too.
Preference is for IVANE, who went close on last week's stable debut at Fontwell and is due to run off 5lb higher in future handicaps.

1st (12) ![]() Volez Vous |
9/2(-140%) | (12) Volez Vous 9/2, Tongue strap on for 1st time, won 16-runner handicap hurdle (66/1) at this course (16f, heavy) 28 days ago. Taken to defy the handicapper. Shock 2m winner here latest, up 7lb and up in trip, chance if repeats that last run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Beeverstown Place |
7/2(+46%) | (5) Beeverstown Place 7/2, Tongue strap on for 1st time, eleventh of 16 in handicap hurdle at this course (24f, heavy, 11/1) 28 days ago. But was a creditable fourth over 19f here prior to that. Contender on that form. Good effort here on penultimate and 3lb lower now, 3m too far latest, chance back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Silent Dawn |
14/1(-75%) | (2) Silent Dawn 14/1, Running below form when fell in handicap hurdle at Thurles (15.6f, good to soft, 22/1) 21 days ago. 0-6 over timber, his Kilbeggan third would give him a chance, fell latest, risks attached. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Chemdawg |
5/1(+55%) | (11) Chemdawg 5/1, 33/1, seventh of 13 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, soft) 50 days ago. Flat winner, 0-9 over timber, beaten 29l off 3lb higher latest, hard to make a case for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Hitthehayson |
50/1(-100%) | (6) Hitthehayson 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, pulled up in handicap hurdle (33/1) at Punchestown (19.2f, heavy) 59 days ago. No impact in maidens or on handicap debut, may need more time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Splendid Choice |
12/1(+64%) | (3) Splendid Choice 12/1, 50/1, thirteenth of 15 in handicap hurdle at this course (18.9f, heavy) 28 days ago. 0-10 over hurdles, promise over C&D on stable debut, struggled in h'caps, needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) ![]() Connemara Shore |
100/1(-400%) | (10) Connemara Shore 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 250/1, sixteenth of 18 in novice hurdle at this course (19f, soft) 42 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Handicap debutante, no promise in maidens but could improve, check the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Only A Dollar |
8/1(+20%) | (1) Only A Dollar 8/1, Course winner. Winner in hurdle here in May. Pulled up in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, good, 12/1) 171 days ago, pulled up before 2 out. Hood back on. Bounce back needed after break. Lost form since course win in May 2024, hopes pinned on return to this venue; hood returns. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) ![]() Fanoir |
8/1(+68%) | (8) Fanoir 8/1, Course winner. Twelfth of 20 in handicap hurdle (80/1) at Fairyhouse (20f, soft) 85 days ago. C&D maiden winner in 2022, has struggled in handicaps, hard to fancy on recent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) ![]() Surviving Murmansk |
40/1(-100%) | (13) Surviving Murmansk 40/1, 20/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Gowran (16f, good to soft) 174 days ago. Dual-purpose maiden, 0-8 over hurdles, pulled up the last twice, lacks a run, watch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) ![]() Ladyeze Man |
4/1(+38%) | (9) Ladyeze Man 4/1, Shaped better than result when sixth of 12 in handicap hurdle at this course (19f, soft, 12/1) 42 days ago. Has good chance on pick of form. 0-10 over timber, hasn't built on decent h'cap bow, beaten 38l here on latest, needs more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Kilcrea Castle |
28/1(-12%) | (4) Kilcrea Castle 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 100/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, twelfth of 15 in handicap hurdle at this course (18.9f, heavy) 28 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Big odds and well beaten in five hurdles starts, tongue tie now tried, hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Esticky End |
33/1(-32%) | (7) Esticky End 33/1, Thoroughly unreliable sort. 20/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20.1f, heavy) 31 days ago, tailing off. Flat winner, 0-6 over hurdles, pulled up on latest, needs the ground to dry out. |
VOLEZ VOUS sprang a shock last time and may be able to follow up in a weak race. The Yeats mare was 66/1 when scoring over 2m here, in a race that looked to have more strength in depth. There may be another one in her, despite a 7lb rise. Beeverstown Place ran well on his penultimate outing here, when fourth to Mount Shenshan, and drops back in trip having failed to make an impression over 3m subsequently. Chemdawg didn't run too badly when mid-division at Fairyhouse and could get closer now in this company.
If the tongue tie continues to have a positive effect last month's course scorer VOLEZ VOUS might be able to defy a rise in the weights. Ladyeze Man was better than the result here last time and is second choice ahead of Beeverstown Place in a contest where it's hard to make a compelling case for many.
A very tentative vote goes to BEEVERSTOWN PLACE who shaped okay here off 3lb higher on his penultimate start.

1st (1) ![]() Star Legend |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Star Legend 3/1, Hurdles winner but remains a maiden on the Flat. However, placed 3 times on the level this year, before left poorly placed when fifth of 6 in handicap (4/1) at Southwell (14.1f) 8 days ago. Could be thereabouts with blinkers reapplied. Long-standing maiden on Flat but short-head second in 2m Class 5 handicap here in February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() The Colorist |
4/1(+33%) | (4) The Colorist 4/1, Winner at Lingfield in September and good efforts on first 2 starts this year. Run best excused when seventh of 8 in handicap at Kempton (16f, 9/2) 29 days ago, poorly placed, so he's not ruled out with visor back on. Capable handicapper on AW around 1m4f; excuses when form latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Blue Sky Boy |
2/1(+27%) | (2) Blue Sky Boy 2/1, Improved form on first 2 outings this year, runner-up at this C&D on second occasion. Met trouble entering final 1f when sixth of 7 in handicap (5/2) at Southwell (16.5f) 56 days ago, so he could fare better with cheekpieces added. Lightly raced maiden; runner-up in C&D Class 5 handicap two starts back; cheekpieces on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Duchess |
8/1(+60%) | (5) Duchess 8/1, Sole victory came at Yarmouth last May but has run well last 2 starts, third of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (12.4f, 17/2) 28 days ago. Others still look stronger for win purposes, though, as she goes back up in trip. Placed in 1m4f Class 6 Newcastle handicaps on last two starts; this trip within reach. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Payment Plan |
7/2(-56%) | (3) Payment Plan 7/2, Successful at Wolverhampton in January and first past the post at same course next time. Run of good form halted when last of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (16.2f, 6/4) a month ago, but no surprise to see him get back on track in first-time cheekpieces. First past the post in four 2m Class 6 handicaps on the AW elsewhere since November. |
Payment Plan has been progressive during the winter and although disappointing last time out, it would come as no surprise were he to bounce back in first-time cheekpieces. However, a chance is taken on BLUE SKY BOY, who lost all chance when on the receiving end of interference at Southwell in January. He struck the woodwork over this C&D earlier that month, though, and Paul Attwater's unexposed stayer would go very close if able to replicate that level of performance. Star Legend is also noted.
PAYMENT PLAN made it 3 wins from 4 starts when scoring at Wolverhampton in January, so he is worth forgiving his latest run given the form he was in previously. He is taken to bounce back to winning ways with cheekpieces applied, though Star Legend and The Colorist both had excuses last time and could be in the mix.
Each of these have a chance, with none of them fully convincing, but maybe BLUE SKY BOY can come good. Star Legend is second pick.

1st (6) ![]() King Of The Dance |
16/1(-14%) | (6) King Of The Dance 16/1, One win from 24 Flat runs. Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. 6/1, seventh of 11 in classified event over C&D 10 days ago, not ideally placed. Ran okay here this month, after a break, and remains on a career-low mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Tactical Control |
6/1(-50%) | (3) Tactical Control 6/1, Creditable third of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford (1m) 19 days ago. Blinkers on first time. Respected under Loughnane. Has modest strike-rate but kept on well for third off today's career-low mark this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) ![]() Stoic Syd |
20/1(-82%) | (9) Stoic Syd 20/1, 13/2, creditable fifth of 11 in classified event over C&D 10 days ago. Cheekpieces on first time. Latest run was a step back in the right direction; cheekpieces may aid further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() L'immortale |
5/2(+25%) | (1) L'immortale 5/2, Good start for this yard since coming from Ireland, second over C&D before winning 10-runner classified event at Lingfield on Monday. More needed under a 5 lb penalty here but no surprise were she to find it. Came good for current stable at second attempt; major player under a penalty here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Boujee Gold |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Boujee Gold 12/1, C&D winner in December. Two creditable in-frame efforts since and lost her chance with a slow start last time. Can be competitive off current mark but has been rather inconsistent in recent months. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Making A Move |
14/1(-40%) | (7) Making A Move 14/1, Shaped well when close third over 1m at Newcastle in January but down the field in 2 subsequent starts there, albeit he had a hopeless task from his position after a slow start last time. Close third in Newcastle classified in January but two very disappointing runs followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Van Zant |
28/1(-40%) | (8) Van Zant 28/1, Course winner. Latest win at Southwell in January but has struggled since. 7f winner in January but recent effort have been disappointing; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Ravenglass |
10/3(-21%) | (4) Ravenglass 10/3, C&D winner. Notched another course win over 7f this month and went close back here (7f again) last week. Races off 2 lb lower this time and another bold bid is on the cards. Effectively 2lb lower than when close second in recent 7f handicap; this trip also suits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) ![]() Liege |
50/1(-52%) | (10) Liege 50/1, Eighth of 9 in classified event at Lingfield (7f) 62 days ago. Up in trip. 14-race maiden who was soundly beaten in 7f Lingfield classified on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) ![]() Evoluir |
14/1(-17%) | (2) Evoluir 14/1, Course winner in February. Creditable fourth of 9 in handicap (22/1) at Newcastle (1m) 14 days ago, not ideally placed. Won 7f classified here last month and returns after 1m handicap fourth at Newcastle. |
L'IMMORTALE has been a revelation since joining the Jack Jones stable and now that he has broken the maiden with a determined success over further at Lingfield on Monday, the five-year-old can follow up under a 5lb penalty. Narrowly denied in his attempt to land a 7f double here, Ravenglass is capable of being in the shake-up, as is Tactical Control, who may improve for going back up in distance slightly.
RAVENGLASS can land a second course win of the month under Finley Marsh. Monday's Lingfield scorer L'immortale could have more to offer for new trainer Jack Jones and is feared most ahead of Tactical Control, the mount of Billy Loughnane.
After quickening well to score at Lingfield on Monday, L'IMMORTALE can complete a quick double.

1st (7) ![]() Faded Fantasy |
9/4(+78%) | (7) Faded Fantasy 9/4, C&D winner who comes here below par, only eighth of 10 in handicap at Taunton (23.9f) 17 days ago. Tongue strap back on with work to do. Went close over fences in November but has struggled to get competitive subsequently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Our Pink Lady |
5/2(+17%) | (5) Our Pink Lady 5/2, C&D winner who got right back on track when a clear second of 7 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (19.6f, good) 15 days ago. Can go well again nudged up 1 lb. Two C&D wins last March and went close at Huntingdon a fortnight ago; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) ![]() Jumble Jury |
11/1(+8%) | (8) Jumble Jury 11/1, A point winner but yet to offer much in three runs in this sphere. Returns from a break with lots more needed now handicapping. Point winner; has a lowly opening mark but has shown very little over hurdles thus far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Ted's Friend |
7/1(+30%) | (2) Ted's Friend 7/1, Dual hurdles winner but he arrives well below par, tenth of 13 in 2m2f Stratford handicap last time. Hard to warm to. Well treated on the pick of this season's form but well beaten on his last three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) ![]() Noble Recall |
80/1(-21%) | (10) Noble Recall 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden who has yet to offer much over hurdles, ninth of 12 in novice at Doncaster (19.4f, good) 26 days ago. 18 lb "wrong" in the weights for his first go in handicaps. Tailed off/pulled up on all five starts; hard to fancy on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Barleythorpe |
40/1(-82%) | (4) Barleythorpe 40/1, Well held both starts in bumpers last spring for Pam Sly and little impact in 3 hurdle runs for his current yard. Needs this switch to handicaps to spark progress. Improvement needed but the hood and longer trip are possible positives on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Pottersjetamay |
10/3(+76%) | (3) Pottersjetamay 10/3, Remains a maiden but he wasn't disgraced when fifth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Doncaster (20.8f, good) 25 days ago. Not dismissed off an easing mark. 0-10 but fair fifth at Doncaster last time and drops back down in grade today. |
Now that the penny has dropped for TRAMUNTANA after a comfortable success on his handicap debut at Huntingdon last month, Olly Murphy's charge should have plenty more to come and he can double up. Narrowly denied over the same track and trip recently, Our Pink Lady must enter calculations, while Ted's Friend continues to drop in the handicap for a stable in excellent form at present.
Lots of these arrive with a question mark against them and this looks a very good opportunity for TRAMUNTANA to build on his Huntingdon victory and go 2-2 since sent handicapping. C&D winner Our Pink Lady rates much the biggest threat, with Pottersjetamay appealing as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
Bumper winner TRAMUNTANA (nap) scored on last month's handicap debut at Huntingdon and can defy a 5lb rise and follow up.

1st (3) ![]() Tingarran Express |
8/1(-100%) | (3) Tingarran Express 8/1, Sole success from 29 NH runs came at this course (16.3f) last spring. Model of consistency subsequently and likely she'll strip fitter following first start for 6 months when seventh of 16 in handicap hurdle back at this course (2m, heavy) 28 days ago. Worthy of a second look. Course winner, held form well since, improve for comeback run last month, big chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Sharetheknowledge |
12/1(+14%) | (1) Sharetheknowledge 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden who was in the process of running poorly when slipping up in handicap hurdle at Wexford (20.5f) back in August. Needs to take a step forward on return to action. Promise in a maiden and on h'cap bow, off since slipping up at Wexford, not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Old Kenmare |
16/1(+20%) | (7) Old Kenmare 16/1, Big prices when shaping with only minor promise in maiden hurdles but could be a different proposition now sent handicapping. One to note for any market support on handicap hurdle debut. Midfield in a trio of maiden hurdles, best watched on h'cap debut unless market speaks. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Weather Alert |
4/1(+75%) | (8) Weather Alert 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 33/1, shaped much better than bare result when twelfth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (24f, good to soft) 24 days ago, weakening before last. Drop in trip rates a plus and he remains capable of better. Dual-purpose maiden, tame effort on h'cap hurdle debut, drops in trip, capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Robindevidastar |
12/1(-33%) | (4) Robindevidastar 12/1, Made a winning reappearance at Punchestown in November. Good second next time but found run of good form coming to a halt when eighth of 14 in handicap hurdle at this course (16.1f, soft, 18/1) 42 days ago. However, bounce back rates distinctly possible. Three time hurdles winner, ran well here in January, 2m unsuitable latest, on a tough mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Southgate Avenue |
12/1(+14%) | (5) Southgate Avenue 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Below form ninth of 20 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (16.1f, heavy, 33/1) 19 days ago, looking unsuited by drop in trip. Remains less exposed than most and not one to write off. No show in maidens, minor promise latest, 2lb lower and upped in trip, may outrun odds. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) ![]() Close Enough |
33/1(-83%) | (10) Close Enough 33/1, Landed a 22f handicap hurdle at Limerick in summer of 2023 but very lightly raced since, absent since taking a heavy fall in handicap hurdle at Tramore (20.4f, good, 25/1) last August. Sparingly raced since Limerick win in July 2023, off since August fall at Tramore, watch. |

8th (11) ![]() Walk Of The Roses |
33/1(-32%) | (11) Walk Of The Roses 33/1, 50/1 and blinkered for 1st time, eleventh of 13 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, soft) 50 days ago. Back down in trip but difficult to fancy strongly. Bumper winner for former yard, no impact in four runs for this stable, others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|B| (9) ![]() Heidi's Frontiere |
4/1(-14%) | (9) Heidi's Frontiere 4/1, Good third of 16 in handicap hurdle (16/1) at this course (16f, heavy) 28 days ago, faring best of those held up. Well worth a second look back up in trip. 0-7 over hurdles, good efforts two of last three starts, this trip could suit well, chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (12) ![]() Tir Og |
8/1(+6%) | (12) Tir Og 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 20/1, matched previous best when creditable third of 13 in handicap hurdle at this course (19f, soft) 42 days ago. Remains early days so that may not prove her limit. Promise last two starts including on h'cap debut here, down 1lb, claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) ![]() Bossofthebus |
7/2(+13%) | (2) Bossofthebus 7/2, Course winner. 1 win from 3 runs this season. 7/4, below form seventh of 12 in handicap hurdle at this course (19f, soft) 42 days ago, ridden too aggressively. Not out of things. Won here over 2m4f in January, couldn't repeat over 2m3f off 7lb higher, can't discount. |

28/1(-27%) | (13) Realtin Lonrach 28/1, Maiden who has failed to complete on 3 of her last 4 starts, albeit unseating through no fault of her own having been hampered sixth in handicap hurdle at Limerick (22.7f) 2 weeks ago. Still, others make more appeal. 0-12 over hurdles, failed to complete three of last four, unseated latest, more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() Western Opera |
50/1(-150%) | (6) Western Opera 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, fourth of 9 in novice hurdle at Navan (16f, heavy) 26 days ago. Could do better still now handicapping and another to note for positive market vibes. Well beaten at big odds in maidens, not obviously well treated for h'cap bow, check market. |
This looks like the more competitive of the two divisions and TINGARRAN EXPRESS may prove the pick. She ran well on her return to action here last month, in testing conditions, just fading a touch late on when seventh behind Volez Vous. With that run under her belt, and better ground now, she is expected to go close. She has a bit to find with Heidi's Frontiere, who was third here four weeks ago. That was an improvement on her previous form and a similar showing gives her a big chance. Western Opera has hinted at ability in maidens and may be one to watch on her handicap debut.
HEIDI'S FRONTIERE built on the promise of her reappearance run at the second attempt when third over 2m here 4 weeks ago, faring best of those held up. She leaves the impression there's a bigger effort in her locker, including at this longer trip, and she earns the vote to come out on top. Tingarran Express, Weather Alert, who shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests latest, and Robindevidastar head up the dangers.
A chance is taken on the filly Tir Og who could build on the promise she showed in her first handicap over 2m3f here last month.

1st (6) ![]() Dark Sorceress |
10/3(+17%) | (6) Dark Sorceress 10/3, Remains a maiden but produced best performance to date when second of 13 in nursery (16/1) over C&D when last seen in October. Merits consideration back at this venue after 5 months off. Runner-up in similar race over C&D when last seen in October; bit more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() One For Harvey |
11/2(+8%) | (1) One For Harvey 11/2, Made the frame twice in maidens at this C&D last year. After 11 weeks off, well held on handicap debut when seventh of 8 at Lingfield (6f, 15/2) 48 days ago, but she's an interesting contender back here with cheekpieces added. Lightly raced maiden; has run well here but needs to do way more than on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Off The Bench |
11/2(+54%) | (2) Off The Bench 11/2, In first-time tongue strap (now discarded), wasn't in the same form as previous outing when last of 9 in nursery (12/1) at Wolverhampton (7.2f) when last seen in September. First run for yard after leaving Edward Smyth-Osbourne. Moderate maiden who was tailed off in 7f Wolverhampton race when last seen six months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Watkins |
9/1(-64%) | (4) Watkins 9/1, Has failed to improve for the switch to handicaps this year, in first-time visor when sixth of 8 at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 11/1) 37 days ago. Goes without headgear/tongue tie on first run since leaving George Boughey. Unplaced in six 6f-1m AW/turf starts for George Boughey, but may prove capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Olympic Melody |
2/1(+40%) | (3) Olympic Melody 2/1, Some encouragement on debut but failed to repeat that effort in 2 subsequent outings, seventh of 11 in novice at Newmarket (6f, good to soft, 100/1) in November. Watch for market clues as she goes handicapping having left Rae Guest. Didn't progress in three 6f AW/turf starts for Rae Guest last year, but should do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Tiana Rose |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Tiana Rose 40/1, Placed on handicap debut at Brighton last year, but after 5 months off she ran poorly when last of 10 at Southwell (6.1f, 33/1) 27 days ago. Others preferred. Six-race maiden; no obvious promise at Southwell on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Clipsham Noble |
6/1(+40%) | (8) Clipsham Noble 6/1, Placed here (7f) last summer but hasn't gone on from that effort since, eighth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 9/1) 29 days ago. Visor now reached for as he drops back down in trip. 0-8; hasn't built on last August's 5l third in 7f Class 6 nursery here; now visored. |
A chance can be taken on OLYMPIC MELODY, who was last seen finishing down the field in a novice event at Newmarket in November. The daughter of Oasis Dream has since left Rae Guest to join the Kevin Philippart De Foy stable, and it would not come as any great surprise were she to find improvement now sent handicapping. A tendency to race freely continues to affect Watkins' chance, but he's a likely contender if settling. Top Star, who sports a first-time hood for his reappearance, is one more to consider.
Having made the frame twice here last year, ONE FOR HARVEY ran below form sent handicapping at Lingfield last month, but back at this venue she could be ready to get off the mark with cheekpieces added. She is preferred to Top Star, who should be suited by the return to 6f on his first start for Dean Ivory, with Dark Sorceress also considered.
A weak-looking race but OLYMPIC MELODY, Watkins and Top Star, who each happen to be debuting for new trainers, may improve.

1st (5) ![]() Circus Of Rome |
11/10(+32%) | (5) Circus Of Rome 11/10, Much improved from debut when close second at Lingfield (8f) in December. Wasn't in same form over shorter trip at Chelmsford City (7f) last time but looks the one to beat here. Runner-up in two of his three races and he's the standard-setter in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Perfect Life |
6/1(-33%) | (4) Perfect Life 6/1, Built on promising debut effort when taking 7-runner maiden at this course (8.6f, 10/3) in December. May have more to offer yet, particularly over this longer trip. Comfortably repelled a well-touted Gosden newcomer here in December; looks useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Hot Cash |
11/8(+54%) | (3) Hot Cash 11/8, Fair colt. Won at Epsom on debut. 10/1, 9½ lengths fourth of 5 to Cowardofthecounty in Prix Francois Boutin at Deauville (7f, good to firm). Off 7 months. Significantly up in trip. Warrants respect. Won a weak race at Epsom before coming up well short in a French Group 3. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Maraaheb |
28/1(-155%) | (8) Maraaheb 28/1, €60,000 foal, €42,000 yearling, Sottsass colt. Half-brother to numerous winners, including 1m-10.5f winner Opposite and winner up to 1½m Baahama, both smart in France. Wears hood. Makes appeal on paper. 42,000euros yearling; hooded for debut but in top hands and needs checking in the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Lightning Tiger |
66/1(-200%) | (7) Lightning Tiger 66/1, Waldgeist gelding. Dam 1m/9f winner. Market check advised on debut. First foal; dam 1m-1m1f winner (including AW; RPR 96); likely best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Soy Loco |
22/1(-83%) | (9) Soy Loco 22/1, Upped his game when third at Kempton (8f) last month and ran to similar level when second of 8 in maiden at Chelmsford City (10f, 10/1) 19 days ago. Ought to go well again. Perhaps flattered at Chelmsford last time but clearly up to winning races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) ![]() Camtank |
28/1(-250%) | (11) Camtank 28/1, 30,000 gns yearling, Camelot filly. Half-sister to several winners, including smart winner up to 1m Awesometank and useful 1m winner Frantanck. Dam 2-y-o 6f winner who stayed 1m. Newcomers from yard often fancied. 30,000gns yearling; the only female in the field but she's in a leading stable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Mybad |
250/1(-213%) | (1) Mybad 250/1, Twice-raced maiden. 25/1, sixth of 7 in maiden at Southwell (8.1f) 13 days ago. Up against it. Has performed to a modest level in his first two races at about 1m and looks outclassed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Guinness Lad |
200/1(-150%) | (2) Guinness Lad 200/1, Thrice-raced maiden on Flat. 300/1, sixth of 9 in novice at this course (9.5f) 15 days ago, not knocked about. Likely to improve. Has looked limited in a bumper, over hurdles and in three races on the AW. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) ![]() Godstone |
125/1(-213%) | (6) Godstone 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 11 in maiden (50/1) at Kempton (12f) 22 days ago. Down in trip. Others more persuasive. Showed more second time out at Kempton but was still beaten 8l and that was over 1m4f. |
PERFECT LIFE showed significant improvement from his first to his second start when scoring at this venue and Marco Botti's colt can go in again under a penalty, with Hollie Doyle back in the saddle. Runner-up on his last two starts, Circus Of Rome looks just the type to improve for going up in trip. Hot Cash is of interest on the drop in grade, having contested a Group 3 at Deauville last summer.
The step up in trip should suit CIRCUS OF ROME, who boasts much the best form on offer here. He can open his account. Perfect Life and Soy Loco look the likeliest dangers.
Perfect Life won well here in December but conceding a penalty to CIRCUS OF ROME could prove troublesome.

1st (10) ![]() Sunny South West |
15/2(+66%) | (10) Sunny South West 15/2, Pulled up sole start in points but produced a promising first effort under Rules amidst obvious inexperience equipped with a hood when fifth of 18 in bumper at Thurles (15.6f, good to soft) on NH debut 21 days ago, doing some good late work. Can do better again. Never-nearer fifth of 18 at Thurles (good) three weeks ago; each-way chance for local yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Doctor Steinberg |
1/1(+27%) | (5) Doctor Steinberg 1/1, Doctor Dino gelding who produced a promising first effort when third behind stablemate/subsequent Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Kopek des Bordes in 14-runner Fairyhouse bumper 12 months ago. Interesting Rules debutant for leading yard. Headed close home in Ballindenisk point-to-point in December; respected for top yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (15) ![]() Jaynemax |

11th (13) ![]() Crossbar Getaway |

DOCTOR STEINBERG should prove hard to beat, despite returning from a year off the track. The Doctor Dino gelding ran a nice race when third to star stablemate Kopek Des Bordes when the pair made their debuts in the Tattersalls Sales Bumper last Easter. Cosmos D'ainay won a point-to-point in December and subsequently made 165,000 pounds at the sales. He's an interesting rival. Gavin Cromwell's newcomer Artsncrafts is another to note in the market. The Flat-bred Mastercraftsman gelding makes a belated debut at the age of six and is a half-brother to Impact Warrior, who was placed in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks.
DOCTOR STEINBERG produced a promising first effort when third behind now high-class stablemate Kopek des Bordes in a Fairyhouse bumper 12 months ago and, open to improvement, he's selected to make a winning return to action. Cosmos d'Ainay rates an interesting recruit from the pointing field and is feared. Sunny South West and Ace Brannigan complete the shortlist.
The form of DOCTOR STEINBERG's debut 3rd behind stablemate Kopek Des Bordes couldn't have worked out better and he gets the nod

1st (4) ![]() Cheeky Stanley |
7/2(+50%) | (4) Cheeky Stanley 7/2, In first-time hood (now discarded), failed to build on previous effort when last of 4 in maiden at Brighton (5.3f, good, 9/4) when last seen in September. Off 6 months ahead of his handicap debut. Unplaced in three turf sprint maidens last year, but may do better now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Bust A Moon |
15/8(+53%) | (2) Bust A Moon 15/8, With headgear left off, ran to similar level as previously when fourth of 11 on nursery debut at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 8/1) in November. Could go well as he makes first run since leaving Eve Johnson Houghton. 0-4; potential improver, back down in trip four months on for new trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Rock Master |
7/2(+46%) | (5) Rock Master 7/2, Made the frame on third start in novices, before racing closer to the pace than ideal when seventh of 12 in nursery (4/1) at Newcastle (6f) in November (gelded since). Enters calculations with cheekpieces on 1st time. 0-4 and didn't progress last year, but has a useful pedigree and could improve this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() She's A Dark Horse |
11/1(0%) | (7) She's A Dark Horse 11/1, Showed a bit more than previously when 3¼ lengths fifth of 13 in nursery (22/1) at this C&D in October. Further improvement required on return from 5 months off. Unplaced in six starts last year, the last two coming in C&D Class 6 nursery events. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() My Boy Harry |
40/1(-150%) | (8) My Boy Harry 40/1, Finished down the field in 3 outings last year, last of 8 in novice at Yarmouth (5.2f, soft, 200/1) in October (has been gelded since). First run for yard after leaving Darryll Holland. Not dismissed on his handicap bow. Well beaten three maiden/novices for Darryll Holland last year including C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Rhodes Royce |
33/1(-230%) | (6) Rhodes Royce 33/1, Hasn't offered much in 3 starts to date, always behind when eighth of 9 in novice (125/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) a month ago. Handicaps may just see her in a better light, though. Unplaced in three 7f/6f AW maiden/novices elsewhere, but now handicapping at low level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Double Mocha |
16/1(-220%) | (1) Double Mocha 16/1, Only modest form at best in a trio of races so far, fifth of 7 in maiden (20/1) at Kempton (6f) 36 days ago. However, he could yet do better as he goes handicapping (has been gelded). Unplaced in three AW maiden/novices elsewhere, but may do better handicapping at low level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) ![]() Inconspicuous |
5/1(-50%) | (3) Inconspicuous 5/1, Making only third start for current yard, quickly back on track when 2 lengths fourth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 12/1) 37 days ago, despite having done too much too soon. Major player. Showed up well when fourth in similar race to this at Wolverhampton latest. |
Bust A Moon finished fourth on his handicap bow at Wolverhampton in November and is an interesting contender back down in trip on his first start for David Evans. However, a chance can be taken on RHODES ROYCE, who has failed to fire in her three starts in maiden/novice company, but it would be no surprise if she proved a different proposition off a low opening rating. With Kieran Shoemark booked, she might be up to the task. Cheeky Stanley is another to note.
This could go the way of INCONSPICUOUS, who soon left behind a lesser effort when fourth at Wolverhampton last month, doing well to finish as close as he did having set a decent pace. He can build on that and double his tally, with Bust A Moon feared most as he drops back in trip starting off for David Evans, ahead of Rock Master.
A weak race in which BUST A MOON looks a potential improver for a new trainer on his return, preferred to Inconspicuous.

8th (7) ![]() Catch Cunningham |
9/1(-80%) | (7) Catch Cunningham 9/1, C&D winner who has acquitted himself well the last twice, latest when good second of 9 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 16 days ago. Remains fairly treated and is one for shortlist. Comes here in form and he's respected despite the widest stall. |
Impressive when justifying favouritism over this distance at Lingfield, ECCLESIASTICAL has won over C&D before and he sets the standard on recent form, despite a 7lb rise in the weights. A consistent sort without getting his head in front since victory over track and trip last September, Catch Cunningham is on the shortlist along with another C&D winner in the shape of El Bufalo.
It could be worth chancing REIGNING PROFIT, who is back down to his last winning mark and should be straighter for his Newcastle return earlier this month. Catch Cunningham and Ecclesiastical are feared most.
A trappy event in which all eight runners have something to recommend them. DASHING HARRY may be the answer back at 5f.

1st (4) ![]() Diamond Dreamer |
11/2(+39%) | (4) Diamond Dreamer 11/2, Four wins from 10 runs last year. 16/1, wasn't in the same form as on last 2 starts when sixth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 16 days ago. Five AW wins elsewhere; his level dipped at Wolverhampton latest but that was 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Merrimack |
6/1(-80%) | (7) Merrimack 6/1, 11/4, run best excused when last of 8 in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) just over 9 weeks ago, poorly drawn and things going wrong from an early stage. Folly to ignore. Twice runner-up in similar races here over the winter; can be excused below-par run latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) ![]() Dark Side Prince |
9/1(+50%) | (8) Dark Side Prince 9/1, 5-time C&D winner (including this corresponding event from 2 lb higher last year). 50/1, looked rusty after 3 months off when seventh of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 31 days ago. Five C&D wins including this race last year; needs to rediscover some form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Angle Land |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Angle Land 10/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2024. 9/2, again ran below form when seventh of 9 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 16 days ago. On 12-race losing run but met some trouble at Southwell latest and has won over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Secret Handsheikh |
22/1(-214%) | (1) Secret Handsheikh 22/1, Latest win at Brighton in September. Well-beaten second of 7 in handicap at same course (5.3f, good to soft, 2/1) when last seen 6 months ago. One to consider on return. Ten-time winner elsewhere but unproven around this track and has been off since October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Alafdhal |
4/1(+71%) | (9) Alafdhal 4/1, 8/1, bounced back to form when second of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 10 days ago, conceding first run. Blinkers back on and Rossa Ryan on board a positive. Has won here four times; most recently runner-up in Wolverhampton Class 6. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Birkenhead |
16/1(-129%) | (6) Birkenhead 16/1, Three wins from 15 runs last year. Wasn't disgraced when fifth of 9 in handicap (14/1) at Southwell (5f) 16 days ago. Should step forward again. Encouragement at Southwell on second run after a break; handily weighted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Leodis Dream |
15/2(+63%) | (3) Leodis Dream 15/2, C&D winner in October. 33/1, didn't get home having a rare outing at 6f when sixth of 10 in handicap at Southwell 16 days ago. Will benefit from this return to 5f. Has won over C&D; poor run at Newcastle two back but showed up well at Southwell latest. |
General Assembly made every yard of the running when holding on by a neck at Wolverhampton and is just 2lb higher. A slight concern is the application of first-time cheekpieces after that success and, with that in mind, SECRET HANDSHEIKH gets the nod. John Gallagher's seven-year-old was last seen finishing second at Brighton in October and has three previous victories on the all-weather to his name. With an ideal draw in stall one, he could be the one to beat. Alafdhal is another to consider.
An open-looking sprint but the vote goes to GENERAL ASSEMBLY, who responded well to an attacking ride when scoring at Wolverhampton 12 days ago and Jack Morland's charge can defy a small rise in the weights sporting first-time cheekpieces. Merrimack can have his latest effort overlooked, so he heads up the dangers returning from a 9-week break, with Alafdhal rounding off the shortlist.
The most appealing option is MERRIMACK who has twice finished runner-up here and had excuses at Lingfield on his latest start.

1st (8) ![]() Flag Carrier |
15/2(+6%) | (8) Flag Carrier 15/2, Wasn't seen to best effect in first-time cheekpieces (now removed) when fourth of 9 in handicap at this course (6f) 28 days ago but he's no forlorn hope stepping back up to 7f racing off a career-low handicap mark. Has modest strike-rate but was unlucky not to finish closer to the target on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) ![]() Thomas Equinas |
12/1(+0%) | (9) Thomas Equinas 12/1, 4-time C&D winner wasn't seen to best effect at this venue when seventh of 10 in handicap (20/1) at this C&D 28 days ago, having been forced wide on the home turn. Not ruled out from 1 lb below latest winning mark. Needs to better his recent efforts but was a C&D winner off 1lb higher in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Kondratiev Wave |
7/1(+36%) | (5) Kondratiev Wave 7/1, C&D winner posted a brace of runners-up efforts prior to a rare below par run when sixth of 10 in a handicap at Lingfield (7f, AW) 22 days ago. Blinkers replace regular cheekpieces and not ruled out if that change has the desired effect. Didn't fire last time but this largely consistent 8yo was in good form beforehand. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Kracking |
10/3(+67%) | (1) Kracking 10/3, Headstrong sort again pulled away his chance when last of 6 in handicap at this course (8f) 14 days ago. One to treat with caution. Free-goer who has not been getting home in his recent races; drops back in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Once Adaay |
5/1(-25%) | (3) Once Adaay 5/1, C&D winner was fairly strong in the market (after 6 months off) when creditable third of 6 in handicap at this C&D and gave the impression he might even benefit from the outing. Not seen for 77 days but chance if he can back up his latest effort. Triple course winner; ran well here in January, after a break, and remains well treated. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Stella Hogan |
10/3(+0%) | (2) Stella Hogan 10/3, Quirky sort posted a career best when winning 10-runner handicap over C&D in first-time eyeshields on penultimate run. Showed her character again latest, slowly away and took a keen hold when third over a mile at this venue 2 weeks ago. Remains capable at this level if putting it all together. Has her quirks but won over C&D three weeks ago and has run well over 1m since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Francisco |
15/2(-88%) | (4) Francisco 15/2, Has developed a tendency to be slowly away from the stalls, very tardy when third of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 10 days ago. Lightly-raced sort is clearly capable in this sort of company but needs to brush up on his starts. Started slowly in all three handicaps but was placed over 6f the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Got No Dollars |
33/1(-175%) | (6) Got No Dollars 33/1, C&D winner who notched his seventh career victory in 6-runner handicap at this venue (8f) in January, holding on under largely hands-and-heels riding. Wasn't in the same form off 2 lb higher up in class next time and he may need further leniency from the handicapper (now dropped 1 lb) to win again. 1m course winner in January; still on workable mark but this drop back to 7f is not ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() Just Rita |
28/1(-56%) | (7) Just Rita 28/1, Maiden who stepped up markedly on her stable debut effort when second of 9 in handicap (15/2) at Southwell in January. Not quite in the same form (after 10 weeks off) when well-held at the same venue earlier this month but claims if she can step forward from that. Ran well on second of two stable starts but is 0-15 overall; not the percentage call. |
Once Adaay was well positioned when fading into third over track and trip in January, but he goes off an unchanged mark and would be foolish to dismiss. Even so, FRANCISCO makes more appeal. The son of Zoustar finished a close-up third over 6f at Wolverhampton and takes a step back up in distance. This is only his fourth start in a handicap and he could take a step forward to strike. Stella Hogan is another to keep an eye on.
Despite her quirks, STELLA HOGAN remains very capable at this level if putting it all together and she may be able to record another C&D victory. Flag Carrier and Thomas Equinas both make each-way appeal from their falling handicap marks, while Francisco has the form to win this but comes with risks attached given his habit of starting slowly.
Three-time course winner ONCE ADAAY returned from a layoff with a good run here in January and remains well handicapped.

1st (5) ![]() Kitaro Kich |
15/2(-114%) | (5) Kitaro Kich 15/2, Won 3 of his 5 starts this year and ran just as well in defeat when second of 11 in handicap (4/5) over C&D 19 days ago. 2 lb higher now but looks sure to go well again. In good form, three wins already this year, one of them around here, but up from Class 6. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Where's Freddy |
10/3(+5%) | (6) Where's Freddy 10/3, Back to winning ways at Wolverhampton (7.2f) in January and posted respectable fourth of 12 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) since. Likely contender. In form; this test should be fine for him and he's drawn to save ground; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() A Major Payne |
12/1(-20%) | (10) A Major Payne 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 28/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at Newmarket (8f, heavy), slowly away. Off 145 days. Work to do on polytrack debut. Had only four starts, showing fair ability; still has potential for yard in flying form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Flag Of St George |
6/1(+8%) | (11) Flag Of St George 6/1, 17/2, good third of 12 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 33 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. On the upgrade recently. Close third in similar race to this at Southwell latest; contender on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Benacre |
7/2(+59%) | (8) Benacre 7/2, Nineteen runs since last win in 2022. 9/1, eighth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f). Off 126 days. Others more appealing. Needs to come back to form, but this test is fine and he's handily weighted on his best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Gunlock |
25/1(-56%) | (1) Gunlock 25/1, 16/1 and hooded for 1st time tongue strap on for 1st time, first run since leaving K. R. Burke when fifth of 13 in handicap at Kempton (8f) 22 days ago. Others look better treated. Respectable fifth in similar race to this at Kempton on return; needs to build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() Billy Mill |
8/1(+56%) | (2) Billy Mill 8/1, Three wins from 12 runs last year. Seventh of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f, 12/1) 29 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Beaten under 2l when fifth of 16 in C&D Class 3 handicap in January; chance on that level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) ![]() Swiss Ace |
16/1(+20%) | (12) Swiss Ace 16/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. 4/1, respectable sixth of 10 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f) 14 days ago. Not out of things. Typically races over shorter and last three wins gained in 7f AW Newcastle handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() Charming Whisper |
7/1(+13%) | (7) Charming Whisper 7/1, Likely needed run, back from 4 months off, when fifth of 8 in handicap over C&D 28 days ago. 2 lb lower now and merits consideration. Contender if building on recent reappearance fifth in a similar race over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) ![]() Cill Mocheallog |
80/1(-60%) | (3) Cill Mocheallog 80/1, 125/1 and hooded for 1st time, last of 12 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW). Off 114 days. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Hard to fancy. Had wind operation. Lightly raced; useful winner in Ireland last year; lost his way but has had a breathing op. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) ![]() Lady Flora |
25/1(-150%) | (4) Lady Flora 25/1, Fourth of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 20/1) 23 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Has run fine in two AW handicaps elsewhere since resuming this year; more to give. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) ![]() Court Of Session |
66/1(+0%) | (9) Court Of Session 66/1, 3-time C&D winner. 80/1, last of 8 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 13 days ago. Makes limited appeal. Three-time C&D winner but needs to rediscover some form and must overcome widest draw. |
KITARO KICH's winning run came to an end with a solid runner-up effort over C&D, but he lost little in defeat and a 2lb rise may not be enough to stop him from getting his head back in front. Lady Flora has strong claims on last month's second at Kempton, while Where's Freddy has the potential to improve for going back up to a mile.
Preference is for CHARMING WHISPER, who has dropped to a handy mark and should be straighter for last month's course reappearance. Kitaro Kich and Where's Freddy rate the principal dangers.
A competitive handicap in which WHERE'S FREDDY makes most appeal, coming into this in form, handily drawn and under a top jockey.

17/2(-21%) | (2) Lady Chartwell 17/2, Thrice-raced maiden. Fourth of 11 in maiden (3/1) at Salisbury (7f, good to firm). Off 7 months. Significantly up in trip. Improvement needed on handicap debut. Made the frame on two of her three 7f turf starts last summer; can improve this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Lightening Mann |
16/5(-7%) | (1) Lightening Mann 16/5, Off the mark at third time of asking when taking 8-runner maiden at Lingfield (8f, AW, 6/5) 22 days ago. Bred to appreciate this longer trip and looks a big player on handicap debut. Tongue strap on first time. Won 1m Lingfield maiden on recent reappearance; up in trip again for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Jiff's Army |
14/1(-40%) | (3) Jiff's Army 14/1, Winner at Lingfield in January. 11/2, fifth of 6 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 27 days ago. Up in trip. Others look better treated. 1m Lingfield maiden winner; safely held on handicap debut; moves up in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Hibernate |
18/1(-50%) | (7) Hibernate 18/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 11/1, first run since leaving Joseph Patrick O'Brien when seventh of 9 in novice at Southwell (8.1f). Off 126 days. Up in trip. Worth monitoring in market on handicap debut. Well down the field in all three qualifying races, the latest his stable debut in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Ruling Master |
5/1(-11%) | (4) Ruling Master 5/1, Posted fair efforts the last twice, latest when good third of 7 in nursery at Wolverhampton (9.5f) in December. Ought to go well again. Second in C&D novice in December and again ran well on handicap debut soon afterwards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Must Believe |
9/2(+55%) | (5) Must Believe 9/2, Creditable third of 8 in maiden at this C&D (12/1) 19 days ago, nearest finish. Makes handicap debut. Not out of things. Placed in recent C&D maiden but has very much record last year; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Glenridding |
7/1(-40%) | (8) Glenridding 7/1, 11/4, creditable third of 6 in nursery at Bath (8f, soft), having run of race. Off 147 days. Up in trip. Makes polytrack debut. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Made solid start to nursery career in September/October; moves up in trip after break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() Bellator Bullet |
18/1(+18%) | (9) Bellator Bullet 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 13/2 and hooded for 1st time, fourth of 5 in nursery at Nottingham (10.2f, heavy). Off 169 days. Others more persuasive, Runner-up on last summer's debut but went the wrong way afterwards; back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) ![]() Lady Mariko |
12/1(-41%) | (6) Lady Mariko 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable fourth of 9 in handicap (17/2) at Southwell (8.1f) 34 days ago. Figures off a handy mark and looks worth a crack at this longer trip. Made respectable handicap debut over 1m last month but next run was a shade disappointing. |
A promising third on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton when keeping on from off the pace, RULING MASTER gets a tentative vote to break the maiden, having been runner-up over C&D on his penultimate outing. Lightening Mann did it well when scoring comfortably over a mile at Lingfield earlier in the month and he must enter calculations, along with the returning Glenridding, who is 4lb above his last winning mark.
Lingfield maiden winner LIGHTENING MANN may have more to offer yet and is taken to make a successful handicap debut. Ruling Master and Lady Mariko can also make their presence felt.
Perhaps the most interesting runner is handicap debutante LADY CHARTWELL, who looked promising over 7f on turf last summer.
Ths is the racecard key.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
