1st (2) ![]() He's A Diamond |
12/1(0%) | (2) He's A Diamond 12/1, Placed on second of 2 starts in points but failed to beat a rival on first 2 starts under Rules and never threatened on the back of wind surgery when fourth of 6 in bumper at Newcastle (16.9f) 23 days ago. Passed over now hurdling up in trip. Improved show in his latest bumper but that 20l fourth of six was modest form nonetheless. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Loch Frisa |
10/11(+34%) | (3) Loch Frisa 10/11, Displayed some ability only start in bumpers and showed benefit of hurdles debut effort when fourth of 7 in a Ludlow maiden (23.8f) 5 weeks ago. In good hands and surprise were that to prove his limit. Some ability at Ludlow in his second maiden hurdle; this drop back in trip might help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Raincloud |
50/1(+0%) | (5) Raincloud 50/1, Poor maiden who again offered little when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (20.6f) in January. Hard to make a case for back in maiden company with a first-time tongue tie reached for. Bits of modest form but overall tally is now 0-24 (0-9 hurdles); tongue tied first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Charlie Baloo |
17/2(+39%) | (6) Charlie Baloo 17/2, Jack Hobbs gelding who is bred to be a useful jumper but looked one for the longer term when not knocked about and ninth of 12 in bumper at Doncaster (16.6f) on debut 24 days ago. Step up in trip entitled to suit now hurdling. 28-1, never-dangerous ninth of 12 in bumper at Doncaster (good) early this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Castanea Breeze |
11/8(+21%) | (1) Castanea Breeze 11/8, Well-made sort who displayed race-by-race progress in bumpers, staying on gradually when third in a 14-runner contest at Huntingdon (15.8f) 24 days ago. Longer trip promises to suit now his attentions switch to hurdling and he's worth a second look. Third at Wetherby (soft) and Huntingdon (good to soft) in his last two bumpers; considered. |
Loch Frisa sets the standard, albeit a modest one, with an official rating of 98 and he looks sure to go well in this weak contest. However, preference is for the lightly-raced CASTANEA BREEZE, who was placed in two of his three bumper starts and Lucy Wadham's gelding may appreciate the step up in trip on his hurdling bow. He's A Diamond looks best of the rest.
LOCH FRISA and hurdles debutant Castanea Breeze are fancied to dominate, with the former open to improvement and getting the nod.
It's not an easy choice between CASTANEA BREEZE and Loch Frisa but they are preferred in that order.

1st (4) ![]() Leave Her To Me |
6/1(-9%) | (4) Leave Her To Me 6/1, Bumper winner in 2022 and came good at the second time of asking over hurdles back from an absence at Uttoxeter last July. Hasn't gone on from that since but looked in the process of running well in a close third when falling 2 out in the Huntingdon handicap won by Alexandra Larose last month. Running well when falling two out at Huntingdon last month and could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Jackeline |
9/2(+25%) | (6) Jackeline 9/2, Built on earlier promise to get off the mark in 2m course handicap hurdle in December. Shaped better than the result when fourth of 13 over 2m at Huntingdon latest, pressing for home too far out. Big player. Won over 2m here in December; could be in the mix if seeing out this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Make Sunshine |
18/1(-29%) | (5) Make Sunshine 18/1, Modest maiden in Ireland but didn't get the chance to show whether she could fare any better for new yard in 19.5f Huntingdon handicap 14 days ago, in touch when badly hampered after 3 out. Callum Pritchard does the steering. Check betting on second stable start but she was soundly beaten at Huntingdon recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Mistral Blue |
12/1(+45%) | (3) Mistral Blue 12/1, Made a winning start over hurdles in mares' novice at Doncaster (19.5f, good) last season but that remains a standout effort, pulling up in handicaps on her last 2 outings. The cheekpieces she wore last time are quickly discarded. Won on hurdle debut in December 2023 but a long way below that level subsequently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Alexandra Larose |
8/11(+20%) | (1) Alexandra Larose 8/11, On the up since sent handicapping, winning around 2½m at Huntingdon and Southwell in recent weeks. A 7 lb penalty shouldn't prevent her making a bold bid for the hat-trick. Has won her last two and this progressive 5yo could be tough to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() No Post On Sundays |
80/1(-21%) | (9) No Post On Sundays 80/1, No promise in maiden hurdles and can only watch now handicapping after 7 months off. Step in right direction when last seen but further improvement needed on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Clashmore Banter |
66/1(-65%) | (8) Clashmore Banter 66/1, Didn't offer much in points and beaten a long way in maiden hurdles. More chance now handicapping off a basement mark but still hard to make a case for. Tongue tied first time. Showed ability on debut in a point but has struggled in points/maiden hurdles since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() Sadies Diamond |
15/2(+66%) | (7) Sadies Diamond 15/2, Maiden but was placed 3 times in handicap chases for Shark Hanlon last summer. Back hurdling for new yard after 6 months off. Jackeline probably the yard first string unless the betting hints otherwise. 0-15 but on a competitive mark on best Irish chase form; not ruled out each-way. |
The switch to handicap company has seen ALEXANDRA LAROSE in a much better light, with the five-year-old arriving in search of a hat-trick of victories. The most recent of those came at Southwell last week and she is capable of further progression, despite a 7lb penalty. Hellfire Princess may bounce back from her latest effort at Ludlow, at a track where she has tasted success before. Others to note are Leave Her To Me and Jackeline.
C&D specialist HELLFIRE PRINCESS might be able to end the winning run of Alexandra Larose. Jackeline was better than the result at Huntingdon last time and also makes the shortlist.
The Olly Murphy-trained ALEXANDRA LAROSE has thrived since switching to handicaps and can complete a hat-trick.

1st (3) ![]() George Darling |
9/1(+50%) | (3) George Darling 9/1, Unplaced both starts in points and whilst he's finished down the field all 3 starts in maiden hurdles, those exploits haven't been devoid of promise. Could have more to offer now handicapping/up in trip so market confidence behind him would look interesting. No solid form claims but it's his handicap debut and the move up from 2m should suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Youdecide |
5/4(+38%) | (2) Youdecide 5/4, Irish point winner who hinted at ability in his qualifying hurdle runs and duly stepped forward (well supported) to make a winning handicap debut at Huntingdon (20.6f) 2 weeks ago, as expected benefiting from the increase in trip. Big player with further progress anticipated. Won handicap debut at Huntingdon (2m5f) in clearcut style from I'm Your Buckaroo; up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() I'm Your Buckaroo |
5/2(+29%) | (6) I'm Your Buckaroo 5/2, Certainly not without hope on pedigree and surpassed form displayed in maiden/novice hurdles when keeping on for second behind Youdecide in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (20.6f) 2 weeks ago. Meets that rival on much more favourable terms this time and he's a player. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Made much harder work of it than Youdecide when 2nd at Huntingdon (2m5f); cheekpieces now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Dreamings Free |
80/1(-60%) | (8) Dreamings Free 80/1, Little form since 2023/24 and no show in trio of starts in maiden hurdles upon joining present stable. Has it to prove returned to handicap company. Heavy defeats on all three starts for new yard, admittedly at huge odds in maidens. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) ![]() Je Viens Du Large |
11/2(+45%) | (4) Je Viens Du Large 11/2, Easily off the mark in Irish points but handed a stiff enough looking mark and failed to find any improvement for application of cheekpieces when fifth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (15.8f, good) 23 days ago. Tongue tie added following wind surgery and he now goes back up in trip. Went from about 2m4f to 2m for both handicaps but pretty disappointing; tongue tied now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (9) ![]() Rhiannon Ring |
12/1(-41%) | (9) Rhiannon Ring 12/1, From a good jumping family and there's been more promise in handicaps of late, running best race when third in 10-runner Southwell contest (15.8f) 23 days ago. Each-way player stepping back up in trip from her basement mark. Third at Catterick (2m) and Southwell (2m1f) in the last two of her three handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) ![]() Bodygroove |
8/1(-191%) | (1) Bodygroove 8/1, Fair Flat winner (stays 2m) who showed much improved when making a winning handicap hurdle debut under this pilot at Wetherby (2m) last week, nicely on top at the line. Escapes a penalty for that success and he's of interest again back up in trip. Won last week's handicap hurdle debut at Wetherby (2m) off this mark under Joshua Thompson. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Scottish King |
11/1(+45%) | (5) Scottish King 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden who was much tighter in the betting than previously but never figured when sixth in 7-runner C&D handicap 50 days ago. Eased 4 lb ahead of this if he can bounce back. Handicapping last three runs and easily best of those was the first (2m4f); now 9lb lower. |
I'm Your Buckaroo (second) was no match for YOUDECIDE (winner) at Huntingdon a fortnight ago and while the former now sports cheekpieces and is 5lb better off, Ben Pauling's gelding is expected to prove too strong once again. Bodygroove made a successful handicap bow in this sphere over 2m at Wetherby recently and, given that he escapes a penalty for that triumph, he must be feared. Rhiannon Ring is noted too.
BODYGROOVE seemed to appreciate the return to a sounder surface and was nicely on top at the line when making a winning handicap debut at Wetherby (2m) 8 days ago. Going unpenalized for that, he rates a sound player again stepping back up in trip. Youdecide was a good winner himself on his respective handicap bow recently and is next best. I'm Your Buckaroo and Rhiannon Ring also make each-way appeal.
The principal candidates appear to be last-time-out winners BODYGROOVE (unpenalised for his win) and Youdecide.

1st (4) ![]() King's Consort |
50/1(0%) | (4) King's Consort 50/1, Made the frame in a couple of point bumpers in spring 2023 but well beaten in maiden/novice hurdles since switching to Rules. Placed in two point bumpers in 2023 but hasn't yet shown any worthwhile form under rules.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Versace Twentyone |
2/1(+27%) | (7) Versace Twentyone 2/1, Won a Roscommon bumper for Gordon Elliott last summer. Fair form switched to hurdles for this yard in the autumn and returns from a 138-day break in a weak race. Respectable effort on handicap debut at Exeter latest and looks a likely player here.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Jackie Can |
28/1(+30%) | (3) Jackie Can 28/1, Showed some promise on the first of 2 starts in bumpers but well held in 3 novice hurdles in November/December. Needs improvement back from a break. Made a promising debut in a Warwick bumper (good) last May but has gone backwards since.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Bellas Bridge |
4/9(+39%) | (1) Bellas Bridge 4/9, Point/bumper winner who has been placed on 2 of her 3 stars over hurdles this season, returning from a 12-week break to finish 3 lengths second at Chepstow (19.5f) 10 days ago. Should be on the premises again. Ran well without really threatening the winner at Chepstow (2m3f, good) latest; player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Big Ange |
80/1(+20%) | (2) Big Ange 80/1, Little to shout about so far and she's probably more one for handicaps in due course. Unable to complete in three attempts since a moderate debut effort; can only watch.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Little Miller |
66/1(-230%) | (5) Little Miller 66/1, Won her sole start in Irish points but no show in 2 maiden hurdles at Southwell for new connections. Won a mares' maiden point (debut) in Ireland; well beaten in two Southwell hurdles.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Rubymurree |
28/1(-12%) | (6) Rubymurree 28/1, In good hands but hasn't shown much in 2 similar races in recent months. Has raced too freely in both starts, failing to complete at Huntingdon latest.. |
BELLAS BRIDGE took a step back in the right direction when runner-up at Chepstow 10 days ago and Jamie Snowden's mare appears to have been found an ideal opportunity for a first success over timber. Lara Kaleo may have finished closer but for a bad mistake at the last when third on her racecourse debut over 2m here. She is more than entitled to improve from that effort, while Versace Twentyone appears best of the remainder.
LARA KALEO showed promise on her debut here 6 weeks ago and might be worth siding with to improve past the more-established Versace Twentyone. Bellas Bridge should also be on the premises.
Having shown promise on her C&D debut, LARA KALEO can take advantage of her age allowance and score this time.

1st (4) ![]() Ostend |
4/1(+50%) | (4) Ostend 4/1, Maiden hurdle winner in Ireland who has yet to build on chasing debut/reappearance effort in 3 subsequent runs over fences, third of 5 in Bangor novice (17.3f) 4 weeks ago. Tongue strap goes on ahead of this return to handicaps and it's too soon to be writing him off. Sole hurdles win in Ireland (April 2023) stands out; now 11lb lower than on British debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Issar D'airy |
9/4(-13%) | (1) Issar D'airy 9/4, Dual Newbury winner at around 2m last winter who found his stamina holding up better at this trip away from bad ground when second of 8 in handicap chase at Sandown (20f) 18 days ago. That form looks solid and he's of definite interest here. 2nd under Freddie Mitchell in three of five races this term (2m-2m4f); big shout, surely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Stormin Crossgales |
15/2(+53%) | (3) Stormin Crossgales 15/2, Landed back-to-back small-field handicap chases at Doncaster/Southwell at up to 20f during the winter but struggled subsequently, again failing to complete when pulled up at Warwick (20f, soft) 33 days ago. Others line up with more pressing claims. Two front-running wins this winter but pulled up both starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) ![]() Ryan's Rocket |
10/11(+17%) | (2) Ryan's Rocket 10/11, £110,000 Irish point winner who won twice over hurdles last spring and all the better for his reappearance run when successful on handicap chase debut at Chepstow (2m) in November. Good second next time and this less demanding than his Cheltenham assignment (again strong form) in January. Failed to get home, albeit on soft, in 2m5f novice handicap at Cheltenham two months ago. |
This is less competitive than the races ISSAR D'AIRY has been contesting in recent months and is an excellent opportunity for Gary and Josh Moore's gelding. At the foot of the handicap, Ostend could find more for the addition of a first-time tongue-tie. Ryan's Rocket has few miles on the clock but, although respected, a tendency to race keenly could be an issue in this small field.
ISSAR D'AIRY found his stamina holding up much better at this trip away from bad ground when runner-up in a solid looking handicap at Sandown (20f) 18 days ago and a repeat should see him prove a tough nut to crack in this line-up. Ryan's Rocket remains low-mileage in this sphere and will find this much less demanding than his Cheltenham assignment in January, so he can pose the chief threat.
Issar d'Airy has a more substantial record over this sort of trip but RYAN'S ROCKET is much more lightly raced and could do better.

1st (2) ![]() Chestnut Pete |
14/1(-17%) | (2) Chestnut Pete 14/1, Long-standing maiden. Proved ability remains on third run back from a long absence when third at Southwell last week but he'll need to step forward again to trouble Iskar d'Airy. Placed for the third time in seven chase starts at Southwell latest; more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Iskar D'airy |
10/11(-14%) | (3) Iskar D'airy 10/11, Fair 2m hurdle winner who left his first 2 efforts over fences well behind when winning comfortably at Huntingdon (2m good to soft) in a refitted tongue tie (retained) last Wednesday. A 7 lb penalty shouldn't stop him if showing up here in the same form. Penalised for Huntingdon win but if in similar form, he would look well treated.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Pooroldmackley |
9/1(+55%) | (5) Pooroldmackley 9/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and only poor form over hurdles, making no impact in handicaps on his last 3 outings. Ran over 3m last time and now drops back to 2m for this chase debut. In good hands but hurdles form suggests it's a big ask for him to win on chase debut.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Berliet Express |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Berliet Express 33/1, Dual winner over hurdles but remains a maiden over fences, finishing a remote sixth at Huntingdon last time. Remains to be seen whether first-time cheekpieces (replacing regular tongue tie) make any difference. Dual 2m hurdle winner but 7lb drop and cheekpieces still unlikely to see him win this.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Dirty Den |
2/1(+20%) | (1) Dirty Den 2/1, Runner-up in 2m handicap hurdles on his last 3 starts and likely to play a prominent role again if taking to chasing at the first time of asking. Bumper winner; placed in 4-9 hurdle starts; should be competitive if jumping well enough.. |
ISKAR D'AIRY was a revelation at Huntingdon last week when allowed to make the running, and the seven-year-old is expected to be a tough nut to crack if arriving here in similar form. Night Jet lost a shoe when underperforming at Bangor last time and has every chance of leaving that effort behind him. Dirty Den and Chestnut Pete head the remainder.
A race which to some extent revolves around ISKAR D'AIRY, who proved well suited by a switch to front-running tactics at Huntingdon last week and will likely dominate again if showing up here in the same form. Dirty Den can give him most to do if translating his recent good hurdle form to fences at the first time of asking.
If ISKAR D'AIRY can get close to replicating his Huntingdon winning effort under a penalty he looks well placed to follow up.

1st (4) ![]() D Day Arvalenreeva |
13/2(-18%) | (4) D Day Arvalenreeva 13/2, Fair handicapper on Flat who showed more than on hurdling debut when third in 12-runner maiden at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) earlier in the month. Open to further improvement making a quick switch to handicaps but her opening mark certainly demands it. Fair on Flat; third at Wincanton (1m7f) in second hurdle race but needs to progress again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Feet On The Ground |
13/8(+70%) | (3) Feet On The Ground 13/8, Could only match the form shown on qualifying runs when fourth of 11 on handicap debut at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) earlier in the month, but remains the sort to do better, not least if she settles down a bit. Cut out in the closing stages of handicap debut at Warwick (extended 1m7f, good to soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Saisissante |
10/1(+44%) | (2) Saisissante 10/1, Landed juvenile hurdle at Ludlow last season. Encouraging reappearance when third in Hereford handicap in November but not in the same form both outings since, doing plenty wrong at Wincanton latest. Good 3rd at Hereford (2m) in November after a year off; right out of form both runs since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Nobody's Perfect |
15/8(0%) | (5) Nobody's Perfect 15/8, Proved a different proposition to on her handicap debut with her usual hood left off when winning 10-runner event at Exeter (18.5f, good to soft, 15/2) 19 days ago, well on top finish. Hit with a 6 lb rise but still unexposed. Held up and led run-in for 4l win in ten-runner race at Exeter (2m2f, good) 19 days ago. |
NOBODY'S PERFECT travelled powerfully to score by a comfortable four lengths over an extended 2m2f at Exeter earlier in the month and the handicapper might have been kind to only put her up 6lb. The six-year-old makes only her third handicap start and could have more to offer. Feet On The Ground only managed a well-held fourth on her first start in a handicap, but she would be foolish to dismiss off a 2lb lower mark. Mistress Emma completes the shortlist.
FEET ON THE GROUND failed to improve sent handicapping at Wincanton earlier in the month, but she showed up well enough to think she may do another day, particularly if she settles down a bit, so is given another chance for a yard that can seemingly do little wrong at present. It's fair to assume it's not been plain sailing with Mistress Emma training-wise, but she's a well-bred sort in a top stable and could easily have more to offer, with recent winner Nobody's Perfect also feared.
Further improvement from Nobody's Perfect is likely but MISTRESS EMMA (nap) could hold the greater potential.

1st (1) ![]() Renoir |
5/2(-25%) | (1) Renoir 5/2, A fair 1m4f Flat scorer for Thomas Faulkner who has taken well to hurdling for his current yard, posting an excellent fourth of 7 in handicap at Taunton (2m) 16 days ago. Player off the same mark. Improved on his handicap debut at Taunton (2m, good) recently; should be thereabouts.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Time Interval |
3/1(+25%) | (3) Time Interval 3/1, C&D winner last May and advanced his form when fourth of 9 on his handicap hurdle debut over C&D 18 days ago, despite pulling hard. Weighted to go well off a 2 lb lower mark. Fourth back over C&D (good) on his handicap debut latest; drops 2lb and not ruled out.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Lenjoleur De Palma |
4/1(+20%) | (7) Lenjoleur De Palma 4/1, In the frame on all his three starts over hurdles, not disgraced when fourth of 7 in juvenile at Newbury (16.3f, good to soft, 9/1) 70 days ago. Needs this switch to handicaps to spark major improvement. Third (C&D, good) on debut; this looks a stiff task on handicap debut from this mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Strong As Steel |
6/1(+82%) | (6) Strong As Steel 6/1, A fairly useful bumper performer but he's yet to fire in four runs in this sphere, pulled up on his handicap debut at Southwell (20.4f, soft) 37 days ago. Others more persuasive. Pulled up on handicap debut (2m4f, good to soft) latest; drops 4lb; more needed.. |

9/1(-13%) | (2) A Good Yomp 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden who caught the eye when seventh of 14 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (19.4f, heavy) 45 days ago, having hopeless task from position. Can do better now handicapping. Not without interest. Well beaten at Chepstow last month and looks in need of a favour from the handicapper.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Twyford's Diamond |
13/2(0%) | (5) Twyford's Diamond 13/2, Still a maiden and he was pulled up in handicap hurdle at Bangor (19.6f, heavy, 5/1) 28 days ago. In good hands but lots more needed fitted with blinkers for the first time. Each-way player based on best form but needs to be much better than her last two starts.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Privilege |
18/1(+45%) | (4) Privilege 18/1, Fair maiden hurdler in Ireland but pulled up on both outings for Sheila Lewis last summer. Lots more needed for his new yard after 8 months off. Pulled up in all three starts for Sheila Lewis; changed hands since; watching brief.. |
RENOIR shaped with promise on his handicap bow at Taunton and, if able to find any further improvement, the Ben Clarke-trained top-weight might be able to break through. Time Interval landed a maiden hurdle over C&D in May last year, but he wasn't quite as effective in a handicap here most recently. He's still respected from 2lb lower, while Lenjoleur De Palma is most appealing of the remainder.
Ben Clarke's RENOIR has made a positive start in this sphere and this fair Flat scorer looks the way to go on the back of an excellent Taunton fourth. C&D winner Time Interval figures on a handy mark and rates a big threat though, while handicap debutant A Good Yomp remains with potential and needs considering too.
A moderate contest where the topweight RENOIR (nap) can provide the answer, after a respectable handicap debut last time.

1st (4) ![]() Glamour Show |
6/4(+40%) | (4) Glamour Show 6/4, 2/1, ran respectably switched to all-weather when second of 10 in novice at this C&D back in October. Placed all 5 starts since her debut, she looks the biggest danger to Greydreambeliever. Placed five times in succession; can go well but needs to raise the bar to break her duck.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Greydreambeliever |
4/6(-33%) | (1) Greydreambeliever 4/6, €40,000 Dark Angel filly. Good type physically and created a really favourable impression when winning on debut at York (6f) last summer. Failed to make an impact in a higher grade at Salisbury next start, but she sets a high standard for the others to aim at on return. Debut 6f winner; respectable Group 3 run latest; concedes weight but sets the standard.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Ellbryn |
150/1(-127%) | (3) Ellbryn 150/1, Shaped as if in need of the experience when fifth of 7 in novice at Chelmsford (6f, 200/1) on debut just under 8 weeks ago. Handicaps down the line is where her future lies. 200-1 on debut (6f, AW), when she ran green and was beaten almost 7l; much more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Lady Shinto |
200/1(-150%) | (5) Lady Shinto 200/1, No impact in 2 maidens 9 months ago. Best watched. Posted two moderate efforts at Chelmsford and Brighton last June; watching brief advised.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Volcanic Dancer |
14/1(-87%) | (6) Volcanic Dancer 14/1, Gambled-on 13/8, showed more than on debut when fourth of 7 in novice at Chelmsford (6f) just under 8 weeks ago. Still rough around the edges and clearly thought capable of better. Raced freely when beaten favourite at Chelmsford (6f, Polytrack) in January; more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Boubou |
28/1(-27%) | (2) Boubou 28/1, Wasn't seen to best effect on the back of a deep trip from worst of draw when sixth of 10 in novice (11/1) at Southwell (6.1f) back in November. First run for yard after leaving Richard Hannon (6,500 gns) and will be of more interest in handicaps after this. Made a promising debut but couldn't build on that latest; more needed.. |
Having not enjoyed the best of passages when finishing fifth in a Group 3 at Salisbury in September last year, the returning GREYDREAMBELIEVER makes grand appeal on her all-weather debut. Karl Burke's filly is sure to appreciate these calmer waters and she looks capable of defying a 7lb penalty. The biggest threat is likely to emerge from Glamour Show, who has posted several creditable efforts in defeat. Volcanic Dancer is the pick of the remainder.
Preference is for GREYDREAMBELIEVER, who created a really favourable impression when winning on debut at York last summer and Karl Burke's filly can resume her progress having found Group 3 company too much when last seen at Salisbury in September. Glamour Show has experience on her side, so she heads up the dangers on reappearance, with Volcanic Dancer seemingly best of the remainder.
Despite conceding weight all around, GREYDREAMBELIEVER looks to have been found a good opportunity to start her campaign with a win.

1st (6) ![]() Pittsburg |
13/8(+51%) | (6) Pittsburg 13/8, Losing run is mounting up (last victory came 15 starts ago) but bounced back to form after just 4 days off when third over C&D (good) 10 days ago. Has conditions in his favour and this former C&D scorer could be worth chancing. 3-17 chasing, last win Uttoxeter (2m, soft) last July; C&D 3rd of six (good) ten days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Ensel Du Perche |
9/4(+10%) | (4) Ensel Du Perche 9/4, Showed he still has plenty to offer when beating a pair of subsequent winners at Catterick on New Year's Day and quickly shrugged off a poor run next time when making it 2 wins from as many starts at that course (15.7f, good to firm) 3 weeks ago. 5 lb higher but should be in the mix again. 11yo with up-and-down profile; tailed off penultimate outing but Catterick win either side. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Conquer The Breeze |
4/1(+75%) | (5) Conquer The Breeze 4/1, A fair maiden hurdler but he's yet to complete in 4 chases. Returns from 3 months off and needs to brush up on his jumping if he's to play a part. Best hurdles form reads very well but form-figures of FPPP switched to handicap chases. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Mcgrath From Clune |
22/1(+12%) | (2) Mcgrath From Clune 22/1, Good second in handicap chase at Thurles 13 months ago but has gone the wrong way since (no promise all 3 starts for this yard). Hard to enthuse over. Out of form on final three Irish runs and the same story on his three starts in Britain. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) ![]() Bold Jury |
13/2(+0%) | (1) Bold Jury 13/2, Placed on the last of his 3 starts in Irish points and showed a bit on hurdling debut at Uttoxeter in December. Failed to make an impact on his next 2 starts (ran out first occasion) and departed early switched to chasing for his handicap bow at this C&D (good) 10 days ago. 11-1 for chase/handicap debut over C&D (good) ten days ago but unseated at the second. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Fast Deal |
16/1(+76%) | (7) Fast Deal 16/1, Isn't one to be interested in whatever the discipline and returns from a break again out of the weights. 57 races overall for one win, for 7lb claimer at Stratford last April over 3m4f. |
We Got Your Back failed to justify favouritism when filling the runner-up spot in this grade at Southwell on his latest outing, but that was still a respectable effort and he has to be respected. However, it may pay to side with ENSEL DU PERCHE, who made it two wins from his last three starts when a five-length victor at Catterick last time. He can continue his brilliant form, while Pittsburg is another to keep an eye on.
His losing run may well be mounting, but it could be worth taking a chance on PITTSBURG, who bounced back to form when third over C&D 10 days ago and has conditions in his favour here. Second choice is We Got Your Back, who was back on song when finding just one too good at Southwell earlier in the month. Veteran Ensel du Perche, who made it 2 wins from his last 3 starts last time, rounds off the shortlist.
Ensel Du Perche has the two wins from his last three starts but WE GOT YOUR BACK looks the more reliable proposition.

1st (1) ![]() Pep Talking |
5/2(+38%) | (1) Pep Talking 5/2, A dual winner (around 2m4f) in November for his current yard and not disgraced after 9 weeks off when third of 8 in handicap chase at Huntingdon (23.6f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Can go well with cheekpieces added. Two wins in a row in November and he's one to consider now back down in trip. |

2nd (4) ![]() Everyonesacritic |
10/3(-105%) | (4) Everyonesacritic 10/3, On the up after handicap wins last month over C&D and at Leicester (20.1f, heavy) 29 days ago. Up another 3 lb but he holds leading claims in his hat-trick bid. Won over C&D last month and followed up at Leicester; leading claims in hat-trick bid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Noah's Light |
18/1(+45%) | (7) Noah's Light 18/1, Scored at Newton Abbot last July but arrives out of sorts, a remote eighth in 2m5f Fakenham handicap chase 66 days ago. Lots to prove. Won off 1lb higher at Newton Abbot last July but has struggled on his last few starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Perfect Pupil |
13/2(+41%) | (2) Perfect Pupil 13/2, Modest ex-Irish hurdler/chaser who wasn't discredited on his yard debut when fourth of 6 in handicap chase at Leicester (20.1f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Not ruled out. Made no impact on stable debut at Leicester and now 0-5 over fences; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Mystic Man |
33/1(-106%) | (6) Mystic Man 33/1, Successful 4 times over fences in 2023 but below par several times for Harry Derham last year and he's yet to scale a revival for his present yard from his sliding mark. One to watch in the betting but he's hard to fancy on recent evidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Greenrock Abbey |
9/2(+44%) | (3) Greenrock Abbey 9/2, Course winner who comes here below par, tried in blinkers when fifth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Chepstow (19.4f, good) 6 days ago. Back chasing with more required. Two-time course winner who is on a dangerous mark but has struggled this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Another Mystery |
4/1(-45%) | (5) Another Mystery 4/1, Unreliable type who posted a solid third of 4 after 10 months off in handicap chase at Doncaster (19.1f, good) 24 days ago. Needs to back it up now. Good second at Uttoxeter last May and could build on this month's fair comeback run. |
On target over track and trip before following up at Leicester, EVERYONESACRITIC will take all the beating from 3lb higher if handling the forecast quicker conditions. Pep Talking finished a remote third at Huntingdon but the addition of first-time cheekpieces could elicit some improvement, while the return to faster ground could also be key (two from five in good-ground handicaps). Another Mystery can chase the pair home.
EVERYONESACRITIC arrives on an upward curve and is taken to make light of a 3 lb weight rise and complete his hat-trick. Pep Talking is expected to build on a recent Huntingdon third after a break and pose the biggest threat with Perfect Pupil also in the mix for his new handler.
This could go to ANOTHER MYSTERY, who returned from an absence with a respectable run at Doncaster this month and can build on that.

1st (6) ![]() Marvelman |
6/4(-9%) | (6) Marvelman 6/4, Invincible Spirit colt who was easy to back but confirmed the form he showed at Salisbury when second of 13 in maiden at Newbury (6.5f, heavy) in October, not knocked about. A repeat returning from 5 months off can see him play a lead role. Ran to RPR of 83 on heavy ground the last twice; worth sticking with. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Shameful |
8/11(+76%) | (1) Shameful 8/11, Shaman colt who was strong in betting and knew his job pretty well to make a winning debut in 12-runner Newbury maiden (6f) in September. Longer trip promises to suit and he's a definite player under a penalty with further progress in the offing. Could be up to defying a 7lb penalty with this extra furlong likely to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Man Of La Mancha |
11/2(-10%) | (5) Man Of La Mancha 11/2, Lope De Vega colt who ran to a similar level as on debut after 3 months off (fair form) when sixth of 8 in novice (2/1) at Southwell (8.1f) 25 days ago. In good hands and he remains the type to do better, including over further. Similar form in his two novice runs; probably needs more to win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Blackbrook |
200/1(+20%) | (4) Blackbrook 200/1, Bred to need time and distance and well held in pair of maiden/novice contests at up to 1m late last year. Handicaps over further will be more his thing. Trainer knows the family well; this one showed next to nothing at two. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) ![]() Westington House |
28/1(-100%) | (12) Westington House 28/1, $27,000 yearling, resold $80,000 yearling, Disco Partner filly. Dam, US 5.5f-6.5f winner, from a good US family. One to note on debut. Looks the pick of the newcomers; rail draw; watch market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Zappata |
125/1(-56%) | (9) Zappata 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. 28/1, fifth of 7 in novice at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 9 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Handicaps after this should present him with an opportunity to win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Shabu Shabu |
125/1(-213%) | (8) Shabu Shabu 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. 16/1, fifth of 9 in maiden at Lingfield (8f, AW) 21 days ago, running green and not knocked about. Rates the type to do better tackling handicaps/1¼m+. Probably wants to go up again in trip rather than returning to 7f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() An Fear Beag |
100/1(-203%) | (2) An Fear Beag 100/1, €4,000 foal, Make Believe gelding. Dam, 2-y-o 5f winner, sister to useful 5f/6f winner Victory Angel. Likely best watched on debut. Trainer less than 5% in maiden/novice contests last five years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() Rupert The Prince |
150/1(+40%) | (7) Rupert The Prince 150/1, Golden Horn colt who has yet to beat a rival in 2 maidens at up to 1m in recent months. Tailed off in maiden contests here and at Lingfield this year; can only watch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) ![]() Zero Zero |
22/1(-83%) | (10) Zero Zero 22/1, Muhaarar gelding. Half-brother to 5.5f-6.5f winner in USA Philipsburg. Dam unraced half-sister to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Shadn out of smart winner up to 7f (2-y-o 6f winner) Amethyst. Market can prove a useful guide as to expectations on debut. Trainer 16% in maidens/novices last five years; monitor betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) ![]() Brightlikeadiamond |
125/1(-150%) | (11) Brightlikeadiamond 125/1, Cable Bay filly. Dam, 5.7f-7f winner, half-sister to useful 6f-7f winner Kostar. Trainer 0-10 in maidens/novices last five years; others more obvious. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) ![]() Benny The Bouncer |
200/1(-100%) | (3) Benny The Bouncer 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. 125/1, eighth of 9 in maiden at Lingfield (1m, AW) 21 days ago. Low-grade handicaps entitled to be more his bag after this. Big backward step when tailed off at Lingfield three weeks ago. |
Shameful made the perfect start to his racing career when landing the spoils at Newbury in September and there is likely more to come. However, a 7lb penalty could leave Clive Cox's inmate vulnerable and MARVELMAN edges the vote. The son of Invincible Spirit ended his last campaign with a brace of runner-up efforts and that form looks slightly stronger. Man Of La Mancha may fare best of the remainder.
MARVELMAN confirmed the form he showed when finishing runner-up at Salisbury, when filling the same spot in a Newbury maiden in October and appealing as the type to do better still as a 3-y-o, he can make a winning return. Shameful impressed when making a winning debut at that venue in the autumn and he's the chief threat now upped to 7f. Man of La Mancha may do best of the others.
2,000 Guineas and Irish 2,000 Guineas entry Shameful might struggle to give 7lb away to MARVELMAN.

1st (6) ![]() On To The Rouge |
4/1(+71%) | (6) On To The Rouge 4/1, Sogann gelding. Half-brother to bumper winner Ontherouge. Dam, bumper winner, half-sister to bumper winner/useful hurdler (stayed 2¼m) Clever Cookie, out of fair 2½m hurdle winner Simply Mystic. Has a fair standard to aim at on debut. Trainer's bumper winners are less frequent nowadays but this newcomer needs a close look. |

2nd (3) ![]() Plains Drifter |
15/2(-36%) | (3) Plains Drifter 15/2, €12,000 3-y-o, £20,000 4-y-o, Idaho gelding. Half-brother to a point winner. Dam, ran once over hurdles/in bumpers, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 2½m) Maggie Connolly. Third in an Irish point in November and he could go well for in-form yard. Third of five in an Irish maiden point in November and made £20,000 the following month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Uptown Dandy |
5/6(-4%) | (4) Uptown Dandy 5/6, Has shaped encouragingly in a pair of bumpers at Exeter, runner-up on debut with the winner finishing second in a listed race next time. Beaten only ½ length when third last month (16.7f, heavy) and he could be ready to get off the mark. Placed twice in the mud at Exeter; different ground but he brings easily the best form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Greedy Smith |
4/1(+0%) | (2) Greedy Smith 4/1, €65,000 3-y-o, Walk In The Park gelding. Dam, little impact in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to top-class hurdler/fairly useful chaser in France (stayed 25f) Galop Marin and bumper winner/useful hurdler (2m winner) Gaelic Arc. One to note. 46,000euros foal, 65,000euros 3yo; major yard and needs a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Golden Whirl |
11/1(+8%) | (5) Golden Whirl 11/1, Golden Horn gelding. Closely related to a winner and half-brother to 4 winners on Flat, including smart 1m/8.6f winner Cicero's Gift. Dam 5f winner (including at 2 yrs). Hood on for debut. Watch for market clues. Flat family; hood for debut; trainer has made his mark in bumpers, notably with newcomers. |
65,000-euro purchase Greedy Smith is well related and it would be interesting if the market speaks in his favour on debut. However, UPTOWN DANDY has experience on his side having hit the frame on both of his starts at Exeter. Ben Pauling's horses are in good form at present and he looks the way to go. Brian Hughes is an eye-catching booking for On To The Rouge and he is another to note.
UPTOWN DANDY has shown promise when placed at Exeter both starts so far and he can put his experience to good use to open his account this time around. Plains Drifter represents a yard which enjoys success in this sphere and he could be the main danger, ahead of Greedy Smith.
Exeter places showed that UPTOWN DANDY is capable of winning a bumper. They were in the mud, though, and the newcomers need a check.

4/5(+51%) | (2) Jimbo Sport 4/5, £32,000 3-y-o, £28,000 5-y-o, No Risk At All gelding. Made the frame on all 3 starts in Irish points, runner-up on latest one in December. A likely player on his Rules debut. Placed in points and makes bumper debut with new yard in fine form; contender. |

2nd (4) ![]() Soldier Saint |
3/1(-33%) | (4) Soldier Saint 3/1, Order of St George gelding looked in need of the experience when a debut ninth of 12 in bumper (9/2) at Huntingdon (15.8f, soft) 48 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Can take a step forward. Didn't threaten on debut but open to plenty of improvement for his top yard. |

3rd (6) ![]() Gower Spirit |
22/1(-120%) | (6) Gower Spirit 22/1, Well-beaten last of 9 in listed bumper at Sandown (16f, good to soft, 20/1) on NH debut 18 days ago. Needs to take a big step forward. Tailed off on recent debut at Sandown but faced a tough task; not ruled out. |

4th (3) ![]() King Sacre |
12/1(+14%) | (3) King Sacre 12/1, £65,000 3-y-o, Bathyrhon gelding. Closely related to fairly useful hurdle winner/useful chaser Emir Sacree, stays 3m, and half-brother to fair hurdler Inferno Sacree. Wears hood. Market can guide on his debut. Likeable pedigree; stable has modest bumper strike-rate; he may be one for the future. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Out The Mist |
5/1(+17%) | (7) Out The Mist 5/1, Getaway gelding. Dam unraced sister to useful hurdle winner/very smart chaser (stayed 3¾m) Ballycasey. Considered newcomer. Trainer has done well in bumpers this season; no surprise to see a good run on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Good Buy Dolly |
28/1(-75%) | (5) Good Buy Dolly 28/1, Had a wind op before coming in last of 11 in bumper at Warwick (16f, soft) on NH debut 125 days ago. In good hands but needs a major step forward. Tailed off on debut in November but should be capable of much better at some stage. |
Soldier Saint folded tamely on his racecourse debut and connections will be hopeful that a hood can spark an improved display. It might be best to look elsewhere, though, and a chance is taken on OUT THE MIST. Tom Weston's gelding, whose dam is a full-sister to former high-class chaser Ballycasey, makes plenty of appeal on paper and although his future will probably lie over further, this doesn't look the deepest bumper. Jimbo Sport heads the remainder.
The market should reveal plenty here but it could pay to side with Ben Pauling's JIMBO SPORT, runner-up in an Irish point before Christmas, to make a winning start under Rules. Nicky Henderson's Soldier Saint should take a step forward from his debut Huntingdon ninth and could emerge as the chief threat ahead of newcomer Out The Mist, who needs monitoring in the betting.
Two-time point runner-up JIMBO SPORT makes his bumper debut with new trainer Ben Pauling firmly among the winners and earns the vote.

6/4(+100%) | (1) Fearnot 6/4, Hooded and green but a cosy winner of 8-runner novice at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 5/2) on his debut 18 days ago. Has a fair bit more to offer. The one to beat. Taking debut win at Wolverhampton and looks up to defying a 7lb penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Regal Guest |
33/1(+59%) | (6) Regal Guest 33/1, Once-raced maiden. 80/1, last of 7 in novice at Newmarket (7f, good) on debut. Off 7 months. 80-1 and failed to beat a rival on debut at Newmarket in August (7f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Turpin |
150/1(+40%) | (7) Turpin 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. 400/1, eleventh of 12 in novice at Newbury (8f, heavy). Off 152 days. Huge prices and ran accordingly at Sandown and Newbury last year; look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Dreamcrafter |
80/1(-60%) | (3) Dreamcrafter 80/1, €20,000 yearling, 2,500 gns 2-y-o, Dream Ahead gelding. Dam, German 7f winner (including at 2 yrs), half-sister to 5.5f-7f winner Sequilla and 1¼m winner Sacaya (both useful). Market can guide. Trainer not noted for having runners in maiden/novice contests; probably best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) ![]() Lunanova |
50/1(-100%) | (10) Lunanova 50/1, Twice-raced maiden. 6/1, seventh of 8 in maiden at Lingfield (8f, AW) 21 days ago. Needs to step forward. Letdown at Lingfield three weeks ago, particularly as step up to 1m promised to suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) ![]() Maundy Thursday |
125/1(-213%) | (11) Maundy Thursday 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. 50/1, sixth of 7 in novice at Southwell (11.1f) 12 days ago. Significantly down in trip. Beaten over 9l on 1m debut and fared no better when stepped up to 1m3f last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Mister Sandman |
125/1(-56%) | (5) Mister Sandman 125/1, Starspangledbanner gelding. Dam, ran once in France, half-sister to multiple 5f winner Sirici. Trainer 0-10 in maidens/novices last five years; others more obvious. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Arth's Gold |
22/1(0%) | (2) Arth's Gold 22/1, Twice-raced maiden. Ninth of 12 in novice at Salisbury (8f, good to soft, 40/1). Off 6 months. Looks one for another day given what he showed as a 2yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) ![]() Westlain |
16/1(-146%) | (8) Westlain 16/1, Twice-raced maiden, much better effort when fourth of 10 in maiden (25/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f). Off 130 days but he can't be ruled out. Decent step forward last time but dropping back in trip could be his undoing here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (4) ![]() Eager Puccini |
150/1(-50%) | (4) Eager Puccini 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. Ninth of 11 in novice at Southwell (7.1f, 100/1). Off 133 days with plenty more needed. Down the field in 1m maiden and 7f novice at Southwell last year; can't consider. |
FEARNOT impressed with his finishing effort from the rear when making a winning debut at Wolverhampton earlier this month. The Invincible Spirit colt was value for further and a switch to Polytrack shouldn't prevent another bold bid. Having undergone a wind procedure since his fifth-placed effort at Newcastle in November, White Crown Star may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Westlain.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and Clive Cox's FEARNOT is fancied to make light of a 7 lb penalty and follow up his stylish debut Wolverhampton success. Andrew Balding's White Crown Star also has better days ahead of him and rates much the biggest threat on the back of breathing surgery, with Westlain appealing as the pick of the rest.
Clive Cox's FEARNOT looked good at Wolverhampton 18 days ago and can follow up. White Crown Star is the only real alternative.

1st (4) ![]() Notimeforchitchat |
6/1(+14%) | (4) Notimeforchitchat 6/1, Won 1m course novice on second start. Disappointed in a C&D nursery on his final outing but it's still early days for him having been gelded. Ended juvenile campaign on a low note; perhaps best watched for all he's drawn to attack. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Packetofbiscuits |
7/1(-27%) | (7) Packetofbiscuits 7/1, 9/1, good close second of 8 in C&D handicap 21 days ago. Should remain competitive after a 2 lb nudge. Runner-up in a much slower division than the one Lady Manzor won over C&D three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Lady Manzor |
9/2(-35%) | (2) Lady Manzor 9/2, On a hat-trick after wins this year under 7 lb claimer Jack Dace at Lingfield (novice) and C&D (handicap). It's likely she's still on a workable mark after a 4 lb rise. Winner of a novice and C&D handicap; no surprise if landing the hat-trick up just 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Mcintosh |
11/8(+59%) | (1) Mcintosh 11/8, Built on promising debut when winning 8-runner maiden at Wolverhampton (6f) 15 days ago. The step up to 7f will suit on handicap debut and leading claims with further improvement likely. Two good 6f efforts so far; the extra furlong should suit in his first handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Noble Guest |
10/1(+50%) | (3) Noble Guest 10/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 11 in nursery (18/1) at Newmarket (7f, soft) when last seen in October. Makes AW debut after 5 months off. Just one run of note as 2yo but highly likely he has more to offer this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Bermuda Princess |
14/1(-27%) | (9) Bermuda Princess 14/1, No better than modest form in 3 outings over sprint trips for William Haggas last summer but has a useful pedigree and rates an interesting handicap debutante for a new stable with Oisin Murphy booked. Market support could prove significant. Obvious scope for improvement in handicaps at 7f for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) ![]() Psychodrama |
33/1(-50%) | (10) Psychodrama 33/1, Maiden. Creditable fifth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 14 days ago. Possibly vulnerable to more progressive types in this line-up. Main concern is how she'll settle going beyond 6f for the first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Final Night |
25/1(-127%) | (5) Final Night 25/1, Promise in a couple of his qualifying runs and rates a potential improver in handicaps. All the more interesting if backed. Could take good step forward now handicapping; watch the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) ![]() Standput |
16/1(-14%) | (6) Standput 16/1, Won 7f Wolverhampton handicap in January and good fourth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (7f again) since. Winning handicap debut in January but vulnerable on subsequent fourth at Southwell. |
MCINTOSH confirmed the promise of his debut second at Chelmsford when going one better at Wolverhampton. Both of those races came over 6f, but he stayed on to excellent effect at Dunstall Park so even more is expected now he tackles 7f on his handicap bow. Lady Manzor and Jack Dace have created a good partnership, completing a Lingfield/C&D double, and Amanda Perrett's filly has to be feared. So, too, must Penelope Valentine, even though she has been hit with an 8lb hike for an emphatic track-and-trip triumph. Throw Packetofbiscuits and Bermuda Princess into the mix too.
An opening handicap mark of 75 could underestimate recent 6f maiden winner MCINTOSH and he can bring to an end the winning run of Lady Manzor. Oisin Murphy takes the ride on Ed Walker handicap newcomer Bermuda Princess and she'd also enter the reckoning if the betting speaks for her.
The two at the top of the weights can battle this out. McINTOSH could have more to offer now handicapping at this new trip.

1st (1) ![]() Solar Army |
4/1(+11%) | (1) Solar Army 4/1, Improved to go close in a pair of AW handicaps over this trip at the end of 2024. Player if resuming from a 112-day break/gelding operation in similar form. Obvious claims if ready to roll back from a short break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Whizz By |
5/1(+41%) | (7) Whizz By 5/1, Completed a 7f Southwell hat-trick when seeing off 9 rivals in a handicap in January. Winning run ended but posted another really good effort when second of 9 over 1m there last month. Needs to show he can do it at a different AW venue now. Three wins and a second in handicap company; can't rule out if okay back on Polytrack. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Queue Dos |
12/1(+14%) | (4) Queue Dos 12/1, Had 7 outings as a juvenile, winning a 6f Wolverhampton maiden on her only AW start. Makes handicap debut after 6 months off. Others are more obvious. Worth another crack at 7f but might be vulnerable on her return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Pietro |
3/1(+50%) | (3) Pietro 3/1, 7f Epsom nursery winner last summer. Good runner-up efforts on turf on final 2 outings. Much depends on whether he's fully primed after 6 months off/gelding operation. Could easily go on improving this year, having been gelded. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Knights Gold |
16/1(+20%) | (8) Knights Gold 16/1, Modest form at 2. Hooded first time, creditable fourth of 9 in nursery at Wolverhampton (7f, 12/1) on final start. Makes polytrack debut on return. Should get further in time but wouldn't rule out a positive showing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Sabrimento |
10/1(-200%) | (6) Sabrimento 10/1, Winner at Bath (5f) in October on final start for Brian Meehan. Good runner-up efforts over 6f here and 7f at Southwell for new trainer George Boughey in recent months. Should figure again. Back on track for new yard but looks vulnerable from a handicapping perspective. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() This Farh |
10/1(-18%) | (5) This Farh 10/1, Winner of 7f maiden at Lingfield in February. 11/1, creditable fifth of 9 in C&D handicap 21 days ago. Tad more needed if he's to take this handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) ![]() Jack Andrea |
66/1(-100%) | (10) Jack Andrea 66/1, Maiden who ended his 2024 with poor efforts in handicaps on turf/AW. Off 156 days. Others are much more obvious. Can only watch having failed to beat a rival last two starts as 2yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Macedonian |
6/1(-118%) | (2) Macedonian 6/1, 4/1, career best when winning 12-runner handicap at this course (6f) 21 days ago. Got up in the final strides on that occasion, suggesting this step up to 7f should suit. A bold show looks assured. New trip promises to unlock more and could easily follow up recent 6f win here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (9) ![]() Dios De La Guerra |
11/1(+45%) | (9) Dios De La Guerra 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Third of 8 in maiden (6/1) at Lingfield (1m) 21 days ago. Makes handicap debut. More required. Connections know the family well and he could make a splash switched to handicap company. |
WHIZZ BY landed her first three handicaps and although the winning spree came to an end when upped to a mile, there was no disgrace in chasing home a progressive colt. She has to prove her mettle away from Southwell, but the return to 7f is in her favour and there should be more to come. Macedonian got up in the shadows of the post to break his duck over 6f here so the extra furlong is in his favour. Sabrimento has been threatening to get his head in front again, as Solar Army and Pietro were when last seen and they have been gelded since.
MACEDONIAN can make light of a 3 lb rise for his 6f course success with this step up to 7f promising to suit him. Sabrimento is respected after a couple of good runner-up efforts to start his 2025 campaign, while Solar Army could also have a say if ready to roll.
Much the most appealing option is MACEDONIAN (nap) who made a winning start in handicaps here and 7f should suit better.

1st (2) ![]() Mount Athos |
7/2(+13%) | (2) Mount Athos 7/2, Bagged listed event at Deauville in November and not disgraced when sixth of 16 in similar company there (7.4f, 32/10) following month. Has taken the past two runnings of this so he's not taken lightly. Goes for hat-trick in this race and is 4-4 under James Doyle; a lot to like. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Local Hero |
15/2(+25%) | (8) Local Hero 15/2, C&D winner. Latest win here in December. 4/1, ninth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 18 days ago, left poorly placed. Possibilities. Capable of bouncing back but 1m rather than 7f might be his preferred trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Roi De France |
6/4(+25%) | (3) Roi De France 6/4, Course winner who ended 2024 with an excellent 1½ lengths second of 9 to Poker Face in 1m listed race here (form been franked) in December. Progressive sort who holds leading claims. Highly progressive last year, bar a blip on soft ground in the Cambridgeshire. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Popmaster |
15/2(+38%) | (5) Popmaster 15/2, Course winner. Fourteen runs since last win in 2023. 9/1, only third of 4 to Tyrrhenian Sea in listed race at Lingfield (8f, AW) 47 days ago. Enters calculations if shrugging that off. Gave Roi De France a couple of very good races here last winter; quiet the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Willem Twee |
40/1(-186%) | (1) Willem Twee 40/1, Course winner. Off 4 months before a below-par sixth of 7 to Royal Zabeel in listed race at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 18 days ago. Got a few questions to answer after a low-key return. Has to bounce back and might not be able to do so over this 7f trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Heathcliff |
5/1(-25%) | (7) Heathcliff 5/1, 3-time C&D winner. Good neck second of 10 to Golden Mind in handicap here (6f, 5/1) 42 days ago. Needs considering. 3-3 over this far, all at this venue; good late work over 6f the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Golden Mind |
40/1(-82%) | (4) Golden Mind 40/1, Course winner. Latest win here in February. 22/1, 12½ lengths last of 7 to Royal Zabeel in listed race at Wolverhampton (7.2f) 18 days ago. Something to find on form. Joint PB over 6f here last month but that was followed by him trailing in last. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() King's Lynn |
20/1(-25%) | (9) King's Lynn 20/1, Twenty seven runs since last win in 2022. Creditable 1½ lengths sixth of 10 to Golden Mind in handicap here (6f) 42 days ago, well positioned. Ought to be thereabouts. On a losing run of 27 and seemingly had no excuses the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) ![]() Nikovo |
28/1(-133%) | (6) Nikovo 28/1, Resumed winning ways in 7-runner handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 10/3) 22 days ago. Consistent sort and can make his presence felt once more. This is tougher and he'll do well to make his first visit here a winning one. |
MOUNT ATHOS has won the two previous renewals of this race, both times following breaks, so it shouldn't matter that he has been off since finishing in mid-division in a Deauville Listed contest at the start of December. He picked up a similar prize there a month previously and is just 1lb higher than when successful 12 months ago. Roi De France found only the ill-fated Poker Face too good in the Hyde Stakes here, but Popmaster is weighted to get the better of him now 5lb better off for finishing just a neck away in third. Golden Mind pipped Heathcliff over 6f before being outclassed in the Lady Wulfruna at Wolverhampton.
Lots with chances in a cracking handicap but it's hard to side against the improving ROI DE FRANCE who signed off for 2024 with an excellent second in listed company here (form working out well) and can take another step forward on his return with few miles still on the clock. James Tate's Mount Athos is feared most in his bid to complete a hat-trick of wins in this contest, with Local Hero, Nikovo and Heathcliff all in the picture too.
James Fanshawe's HEATHCLIFF is taken to make it a perfect 4-4 over 7f. The way he finished off over 6f the last twice bodes very well.

2nd (2) ![]() Brindavan |
3/1(+45%) | (2) Brindavan 3/1, C&D winner. 9/4, very good second of 7 in nursery at Southwell (1m) final start, pulling clear of rest. Off 172 days/gelded. Won C&D nursery last year and runner-up in another such race at Southwell in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Best Rate |
13/2(-63%) | (1) Best Rate 13/2, Promising at 2, signing off with 7f Wolverhampton novice success. Gelded and appeals as one who can go on to even better things in handicaps this time round. Had a few subsequent winners behind when winning 7f Wolverhampton novice on third start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Sweet Fantastic |
10/3(+39%) | (5) Sweet Fantastic 10/3, Won a 7f course handicap under Hollie Doyle in January. Not seen to best effect when third of 5 in handicap (4/1) at Wolverhampton (7f) since, not ideally placed. Expected to be bang there. In fair form over 7f including Class 5 handicap win here under Hollie Doyle two starts ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Kameel |
11/2(-10%) | (3) Kameel 11/2, Has won maiden/novice events over 7f at Newcastle this winter. More will be needed if he's to stretch his unbeaten record to 3 on handicap debut but further progress would come as no surprise. Has won a maiden and a novice from two starts over 7f at Newcastle under Kaiya Fraser. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Spirit Lead Me |
11/1(+8%) | (4) Spirit Lead Me 11/1, Won his first 2 nurseries with ease (C&D first occasion) but the handicapper seemed to have caught up when third back here on his final 2 starts. Been off for 4 months. Fair nursery form last year including a C&D win; needs to progress some more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Berkshire Smudge |
11/1(+8%) | (7) Berkshire Smudge 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 9 in nursery at Wolverhampton (7f, 8/1 when last seen in August. Makes polytrack debut. Improvement will be needed. Showed ability without looking the finished article in four starts last year. |
BEST RATE took a step forward when getting off the mark on his most recent outing over 7f at Wolverhampton in December. A subsequent gelding operation may bring about further improvement from Richard Hannon's inmate and he tops the shortlist in an open event. The unbeaten Kameel is another handicap debutant who merits plenty of respect. Others to note are Sweet Fantastic, Spirit Lead Me and Brindavan.
Wolverhampton novice winner BEST RATE should have more to offer in handicaps and gets the nod to defy top weight. Sweet Fantastic wasn't seen to best effect last time and can bounce back to the form he showed to land a 7f course handicap in January and provide the chief threat ahead of the unbeaten Kameel.
All of these have claims in a fair, interesting 3yo handicap and perhaps BERKSHIRE SMUDGE can progress enough to win on his return.

4/1(-33%) | (2) Collusion 4/1, Arrives on a hat-trick after back-to-back 6f handicap wins at Wolverhampton, overcoming a troubled passage on latter occasion 23 days ago. Up another 4 lb but that form has been franked so big shout. Two 6f Wolverhampton wins in 2025; needs to prove as effective on Polytrack but improving. |

2nd (11) ![]() El Hibri |
6/1(+33%) | (11) El Hibri 6/1, C&D winner. Fair sixth of 9 in handicap at this C&D (16/5) 35 days ago. Visor back on. No forlorn hope. C&D winner; favourably treated; something to find on balance of form since win last May. |

9/2(+10%) | (5) Four Adaay 9/2, C&D winner. 40/1, encouraging fifth of 11 in handicap at this C&D 21 days ago. Can build on it so she's firmly in the mix. C&D winner who is 2-6 for Oisin Murphy and can be involved now down in grade. |

5th (7) ![]() Ten Club |
11/1(+0%) | (7) Ten Club 11/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in September. Sixth of 9 in handicap (33/1) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 15 days ago, slowly away. Given a chance by the handicapper. C&D winner for previous yard; signs of recapturing form for new trainer latest. |

15/2(+32%) | (10) Sonmarg 15/2, Eighteen runs since last win in 2023. Ninth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 14/1) 13 days ago. Maiden on AW; down weights since making yard debut and of interest with Rossa Ryan up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Port Erin |
13/2(+46%) | (1) Port Erin 13/2, Course winner. Latest win at Chelmsford City in December. Twelfth of 13 in handicap (28/1) at this course (8f) 21 days ago. Down in trip. Others more persuasive. All 4 wins at about 1m; form has dropped off of late; now tries 6f for first time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Kodi Red |
25/1(-25%) | (4) Kodi Red 25/1, Latest win at Chelmsford City in October. Arrives below par, only fourth of 6 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f, 18/1) 13 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere. Blows in and out of form but 3lb lower than winning mark in October; first course run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Rusheen Boy |
22/1(-100%) | (9) Rusheen Boy 22/1, Below-form sixth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 13/2) 13 days ago. Needs to bounce back. Made most for 6f Southwell wins in 2023; likely to have competition for lead; drawn wide. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) ![]() Arlecchino's Gift |
12/1(0%) | (6) Arlecchino's Gift 12/1, C&D winner. Four wins from 18 runs last year. Creditable 1½ lengths third of 8 to Collusion in handicap (12/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 23 days ago. Needs considering. Multiple wins, the latest over C&D in February; close with Collusion on Wolverhampton form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (8) ![]() Harry Brown |
16/1(-256%) | (8) Harry Brown 16/1, Twenty runs since last win in 2023 but a creditable third of 5 in handicap (9/4) at Lingfield (6f, AW) 21 days ago. Can give a good account. Smart sprint form up to the middle of 2024; back in form but draw doesn't favour him. |
The hat-trick seeking Collusion has to be of interest but a 4lb rise for his latest win will make life tougher for him here. As a result, preference is for HARRY BROWN, who has been running consistently well in defeat of late and can make his presence felt in a race of this nature. Arlecchino's Gift edges out Four Adaay and First Company to be best of the rest.
A case can be made for a few of these but Dylan Cunha's COLLUSION arrives on the up and did really well to score at Wolverhampton last time so is fancied to land his hat-trick. Four Adaay heads the list of dangers on the back of her encouraging C&D fifth, although Harry Brown, Arlecchino's Gift and First Company can all have a say too.
Slow starts and the switch in surface are issues for COLLUSION but he continues to go the right way for his new yard.

1st (3) ![]() Grey Fox |
7/2(+13%) | (3) Grey Fox 7/2, Successful at Newbury last spring and looked unlucky not to win when second of 8 in handicap (4/1) at this C&D in October, denied a run from over 2f out. Has tendency to start slowly but he's capable of getting involved. Nearly overcame trouble when upped to 2m here; interesting if ready after his break since. |

2nd (4) ![]() Naasma |
6/1(+29%) | (4) Naasma 6/1, Latest win at this C&D in October. After 4 months off, ran well back on all-weather when third of 9 in handicap (10/1) at Lingfield 26 days ago and she remains lightly raced at this distance. Can give her running once more. C&D win in October; Lingfield 1m2f run last month suggests she'll be primed for a big run. |

3rd (6) ![]() Doublethetrouble |
14/1(-133%) | (6) Doublethetrouble 14/1, Recorded back-to-back wins at Lingfield and Newcastle in September and has been holding his form well since, third of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (16.2f, 10/3) 39 days ago. Can give another good account. Beaten a nose over C&D last September in hat-trick bid; continues to run with credit. |

4th (1) ![]() Golden Flame |
8/1(+27%) | (1) Golden Flame 8/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2021, but step back in right direction when runner-up at Newcastle in February. Upped in grade when ninth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (15.8f, 100/1) 26 days ago, though others still more persuasive. 2nd at Newcastle (2m) last month before tailing off at 100-1 in a Class 2 at Lingfield. |

5th (2) ![]() Legacy Power |
6/5(+52%) | (2) Legacy Power 6/5, Off the mark at this C&D in February last year. Couldn't transfer that form back to turf when fifth of 7 in handicap at Goodwood (16f, soft, 17/2) in May, but he's interesting returned to all-weather and has run well fresh previously. Made all over C&D last February; absent since a heavy defeat at Goodwood last May. |

6th (5) ![]() Donald Llewellyn |
15/2(-200%) | (5) Donald Llewellyn 15/2, Won 3 times at this course in 2023, including twice over C&D. Off 14 months prior to this year, but stepped forward from his return (over hurdles) when winning 9-runner handicap (12/1) at Lingfield (12f) 3 weeks ago. Respected back here. C&D winner; back to Flat racing with a bang under Ashley Lewis at Lingfield (1m4f) latest. |
All of these have claims, but none more so than DONALD LLEWELLYN. The eight-year-old made a winning return to the level over 1m4f at Lingfield earlier in the month and this step up in trip should not be a problem for him. Legacy Power has not been seen since May but he won a similar C&D event off this mark just three starts ago, while Doublethetrouble completes the shortlist.
Making his first start at this distance, LEGACY POWER got off the mark over C&D early last year and he is taken to resume winning ways back on all-weather for his reappearance. He can see off the challenge of Donald Llewellyn, who isn't taken lightly as he bids for a fourth course success, with Grey Fox also considered on his return.
A great deal seems to depend on the fitness of GREY FOX, who made such an eyecactching first attempt at a staying trip here in October.
Ths is the racecard key.
