1st (5) ![]() Les's Legacy |
13/2(-8%) | (5) Les's Legacy 13/2, Losing run continues to mount but he wasn't disgraced at Catterick (19.3f, good to soft) last time and is now 8 lb lower compared to when going close over this C&D last spring. Will be a danger to all if able to build on his latest effort. His form has deteriorated but he was a fair fourth last time and is another 2lb lower here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Romeo Brown |
8/1(+11%) | (4) Romeo Brown 8/1, Has fallen a long way in the weights since his latest success but that was way back in December 2022 and both this season and last have been a struggle for this veteran. Has undergone a wind op. Regressive 11yo who has failed to threaten this season; hopes pinned on wind operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Final Edgar |
13/2(+28%) | (2) Final Edgar 13/2, Back on track when second over 19.3f at Catterick in January and, though he has finished out of the money both starts since, he certainly wasnt disgraced when fifth of 11 tried over 25.3f last time. Dropping back in trip here is a good move and he merits serious consideration off an attractive mark. Just 1-15 but went close at Catterick in January and could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) ![]() Cage Rattler |
22/1(-389%) | (9) Cage Rattler 22/1, Modest 7f Flat winner who offered little in novice/maiden hurdles but then took a significant step forward on his handicap debut in this sphere when third of 10 upped to 20.3f at Newcastle (good). If able to build on that he will surely have a big part to play in this contest. Third at 100-1 on recent handicap hurdle debut at Newcastle; chance if backing that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Always A Reason |
11/1(-10%) | (8) Always A Reason 11/1, Opened account in maiden points at the fifth attempt last spring and hasn't shown much over a varierty of trips since switched to hurdles. Conversely, it's perfectly reasonable to expect some improvement from this 6-y-o now that he ventures down the handicap route. Irish point winner who is open to improvement now moving into handicaps; watch the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Red Cadillac |
3/1(-20%) | (7) Red Cadillac 3/1, Yet to get his head in front but, as a lightly-raced 6-y-o, time is still very much on his side and appears to be headed in the right direction judged on latest second of 9 in a Uttoxeter handicap (2½m, heavy). Major player. Placed in both handicaps and this could be a good opportunity to get off the mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) ![]() Noble Affair |
10/3(+76%) | (11) Noble Affair 10/3, Just the one win to her name from 20 appearances overall and while she produced her best effort for a while when fourth in a 10-runner Ayr handicap hurdle (20.4f, soft) last time, one or two of these make more appeal. C&D winner; best run for a while when fourth at Ayr last month but needs something extra. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Blakey Boy |
18/1(-13%) | (6) Blakey Boy 18/1, Hinted at ability in 2 bumpers and there were some positives to take from his hurdles debut spin at Ayr in January. No impact both subsequent appearances and while he appears to have been brought along with handicaps in mind, he will certainly need to improve now pitched into one. Could be back on better ground for this handicap debut and he's a possible improver. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) ![]() Benito |
12/1(+64%) | (10) Benito 12/1, Winless since 2022 and the addition of cheekpieces (retained here) failed to bring about improvement at Ayr last time. First-time tongue strap now enlisted and, unless the new headgear sparks significant progress, he will likely struggle once again. He's failed to threaten on his two starts this year following a long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Shadows In The Sky |
33/1(+0%) | (3) Shadows In The Sky 33/1, Successful twice from the front in 2½m handicap chases here in 2024, the latest off 3 lb lower mark than this in October. However, it's been all down hill since and hard to know what to expect of him on first run over hurdles for almost 2 years. Two chase wins here last year but has struggled in that sphere on his last three starts. |
RED CADILLAC built on his third-placed handicap bow at Ayr when second at Uttoxeter. A 1lb nudge up the ratings looks fair for Nicky Richards' inmate and a breakthrough victory could be on the cards. The biggest threat may emerge from course winner Les's Legacy, who should appreciate reapplied cheekpieces and wasn't disgraced when fourth at Catterick. Noble Affair is also noted reverting to the scene of her sole career triumph.
The vote goes to CAGE RATTLER, who took a sizeable step forward when third upped to 20.3f on his handicap debut in this sphere at Newcastle and he makes plenty of appeal off the same mark. Red Cadillac appears to be gradually progressing with experience and is feared on the back of his solid Uttoxeter second last time, while Final Edgar, Knomorediamonds and Les's Legacy all need considering having slipped to dangerous marks.
Point winner ALWAYS A REASON makes his handicap debut off a lowly mark and earns the vote ahead of Red Cadillac.

1st (1) ![]() Dance And Glance |
10/3(-48%) | (1) Dance And Glance 10/3, Plumpton bumper winner who took a thin 2m maiden hurdle at Southwell in November and ran well in defeat in a much stronger event over C&D next time. Disappointed upped to a trip he should stay at Catterick on most recent outing but could get back on track after a break/breathing operation. Finished tired on soft ground last time but autumn form suggests he can pose a threat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Fasol |
1/5(+55%) | (2) Fasol 1/5, A useful winning stayer on the Flat in France. Still to match that form over hurdles but back on track when winning 14-runner maiden over C&D 15 days ago, bit in hand. Excellent opportunity under a penalty. Readily won C&D maiden a fortnight ago and has very good chance to double up today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Graecia |
16/1(-33%) | (5) Graecia 16/1, Fairly useful 7f winner on the Flat for John Butler. Changed hands for 18,000 gns and hinted at promise when a hard-pulling fourth of 11 on her hurdling bow in 2m Hereford juvenile. However, went backwards from that when pulled up at Huntingdon since. Fair on the Flat; made quite encouraging hurdle debut last month but pulled up since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Galactic Glow |
150/1(-50%) | (3) Galactic Glow 150/1, Poor handicapper on Flat and has little form over hurdles. Easily passed over. Placed off lowly mark in C&D handicap in November but well beaten in next two hurdle races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Liberty Looming |
150/1(-127%) | (4) Liberty Looming 150/1, A modest maiden on the Flat who went with little encouragement fitted with a hood on Sedgefield hurdling debut. Lowly rated Flat maiden who struggled to get competitive on recent hurdling debut. |
Wind surgery appeared to work the oracle for FASOL, who opened his hurdling account in fine style over C&D recently. Paul Nicholls' gelding wouldn't need much improvement to defy the penalty, with fellow penalised rival Dance And Glance needing to show more than he has recently. Graecia receives weight all round and might be best placed to follow the pair home.
This looks a good opportunity for FASOL, who admittedly is yet to match his useful Flat form in this sphere, but did open his hurdling account with a bit up his sleeve over C&D on his most recent outing. Dance And Glance is the obvious threat.
Former smart Flat racer FASOL came good over hurdles with a convincing C&D success a fortnight ago and can double up today.

1st (5) ![]() Forest Blaze |
11/4(+0%) | (5) Forest Blaze 11/4, Opened account over C&D in December and backed it up with a good third of 16 at Wetherby (19.7f, heavy) the following month. Below par upped to 25.3f in the Catterick handicap won by Bollin Neil last time but he'll be a serious player if he puts his best foot forward back in trip here. Won over C&D in December and not seen to best effect at Catterick last time; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Bollin Neil |
11/1(-47%) | (2) Bollin Neil 11/1, Returned to form from out of the blue when landing an 11-runner handicap under William Easterby at Catterick (25.3f, good to soft) last month. Remains on a fair mark up 5 lb and surely won't be far away, provided that this drop back in trip doesn't count against him. Won at favourite course Catterick last month; has run well here in the past; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Aquitaine Boy |
6/1(+20%) | (3) Aquitaine Boy 6/1, Just held on to land a 10-runner handicap at Newcastle (20.3f, good to soft) in January and by no means disgraced when chasing home runaway winner Punxsutawney Phil over the same C&D last month. Place possibilities here off a 1 lb lower mark. Bumped into well-handicapped winner when 16l second last time; could have a part to play. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Maillot Blanc |
9/1(+25%) | (4) Maillot Blanc 9/1, Seems to be in a lull at present, failing to get back on track tried in cheekpieces (omitted here) following a wind op at Ayr recently. Would be a big player off this reduced mark if staging a revival but there is no real reason to anticipate an imminent return to form. Fair third at Kelso in November but he's failed to shine on his three starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) ![]() Rock N Roll Champ |
14/1(+30%) | (10) Rock N Roll Champ 14/1, Maiden in Irish points and thought yet to trouble the judge following 5 runs under Rules, he did show more spark when fourth in the 13-runner handicap won by Dickens here (16.2f, good to soft) 12 days ago. This step back up in trip looks a good move but he needs to raise his game another notch. Kept on for 15l fourth over 2m here recently; interesting contender now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Coral Blue |
10/1(-67%) | (7) Coral Blue 10/1, Winless for best par of 2 years but has gradually got back on track in his 3 appearances since returning from a break in January, finding just one too good at Musselburgh (19.8f, good to soft) last month. Live each-way contender. Ran well when second at Musselburgh last month and he's one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() It's Dan |
11/2(0%) | (6) It's Dan 11/2, Didn't shape badly in a Kelso novice back from 20 months off in December and, though safely held switched to handicaps next 2 starts, he recently performed creditably following a wind op when runner-up off 1 lb higher at Ayr (2m, heavy). One to consider now moving back up in trip. 11l second at Ayr on first run since wind op and the step back up in trip could be a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) ![]() Tan Law |
10/3(+63%) | (9) Tan Law 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden who seemed not to stay when fourth of 12 in 27f handicap hurdle at Sedgefield last month. Step back in right direction dropped to 19.6f when third at Bangor next time and, effectively 4 lb lower in the weights here, he has to enter calculations. Lightly raced 7yo; fair third at Bangor last month but needs a bigger performance today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Santa Clarita |
16/1(+0%) | (8) Santa Clarita 16/1, Ran best race for current yard when good second of 18 in a handicap hurdle at Ayr (20.4f, soft) in January. Poor next time and while his latest fifth off at the same course wasn't a bad effort, it was below the level of what will likely be required to emerge on top here. Twice runner-up for this new yard but hasn't been at her best the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) ![]() Bridge Court |
16/1(+20%) | (1) Bridge Court 16/1, Didn't show much on Rules debut in a bumper on sole start for Mike Smith last term but left that low-key effort behind when making the frame on first 2 starts over hurdles for new yard in October/November. However, it was alarming how quickly he weakened out of content on handicap bow last time. Pulled up on handicap debut but has had a break since and showed promise previously. |
The combination of a two-month break and step up in distance worked the oracle for surprise Catterick winner Bollin Neil and he warrants respect in his follow-up bid. However, he hasn't proved the most consistent in the past and preference is for IT'S DAN. The seven-year-old displayed the benefit of a wind procedure when second over an inadequate 2m at Ayr and a return to this distance could prove fruitful. Coral Blue is worth a second look too.
FOREST BLAZE failed to fire when only seventh behind Bollin Neil at Catterick but he was in good heart prior to that and may well bounce back now returned to the scene of his breakthrough success in December. Bollin Neil remains nicely treated following a 5 lb rise for that success and should be in the mix but bigger threats over this trip may be posed by It's Dan and Tan Law, both of whom took steps back in the right direction last time.
The lightly raced ROCK N ROLL CHAMP made late headway into fourth over 2m here recently and gets the nod now back up in trip.

1st (5) ![]() Elusiveness |
2/1(+40%) | (5) Elusiveness 2/1, Best effort last term came when second in good-ground handicap at Exeter (18.5f) and ran to similar level when fifth at Ffos Las in November. Not been in quite same form since but must enter calculations in first-time blinkers here. Only fifth when heavily backed last time and now 0-8 over hurdles; new headgear today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Ellie's Warrior |
9/1(+44%) | (6) Ellie's Warrior 9/1, Beaten a fair way both starts in bumpers and similar story in 4 attempts over timber, latest when third of 5 on handicap bow at Plumpton (25f, soft) 57 days ago. Others preferred. Still unexposed, but was well held when third of five on handicap debut in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Sawpit Samantha |
11/1(+21%) | (10) Sawpit Samantha 11/1, Made encouraging start for new connections when third of 11 in Plumpton handicap hurdle (20.5f) in December. Well held over shorter trips since but could be seen in a better light here. 2 lb out of the weights, Placed over 2m4f on seasonal/stable debut but two lesser efforts over 2m have followed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Ma Belle Noire |
12/1(-140%) | (2) Ma Belle Noire 12/1, Tail flasher but won 3 times in this sphere in 2023. Been lightly raced and disappointing since, latest over fences at Ascot in December, but drops in grade here and can't be ruled out. Has conditions to suit here but has been pulled up twice since returning from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Sevenofus |
7/1(-56%) | (7) Sevenofus 7/1, Yet to score but returned to form when good second of 7 in handicap hurdle at this course (19f, good, 12/1) 15 days ago and remains on a workable mark. 1 lb out of the weights. Inconsistent and is 0-22 under rules but ran well in defeat here (2m3f) this month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Chosen Hero |
12/1(+33%) | (1) Chosen Hero 12/1, 2m novice hurdle winner on heavy last winter and matched that form when third in Sedgefield handicap hurdle on reappearance. Not been in same form since, though, and is now tried in first-time blinkers. Close third on seasonal debut in October but out of form over fences and hurdles since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Banny Hill Lass |
9/1(+10%) | (8) Banny Hill Lass 9/1, Down the field in bumpers and has fared no better in 3 starts over hurdles this season. Has found weak race to start handicapping, though, and is worth a second look in the market. 1 lb out of the weights. Ran well to a point in her latest qualifying race and has a lowly opening handicap mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Mattie Ross |
15/2(+46%) | (3) Mattie Ross 15/2, Gained reward for some creditable efforts last season when winning Market Rasen handicap (23.1f) in June. Made little impact in a trio of starts since but has been cut some slack by the assessor and does operate on a sound surface. Clear winner at Market Rasen last June but seems to have lost her way since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) ![]() Misting |
28/1(+15%) | (9) Misting 28/1, Little promise in bumpers and similar story over hurdles so far, showing signs of temperament but not a great deal in the way of ability. 1 lb out of the handicap. Pulled up in first three handicaps and very difficult to enthuse over. |
Although winless over hurdles so far, SEVENOFUS finished a promising second over 2m3f here last time out. A return to three miles could suit the mare on that evidence and although 1lb out of the handicap, Elizabeth Gale is able to claim 7lb. Ellie's Warrior has few miles on the clock and the addition of first-time cheekpieces could elicit some improvement. Others to note include Chosen Hero and Elusiveness.
The addition of blinkers may be the key to ELUSIVENESS and she gets the nod in a race where few make much appeal. Sevenofus and Sawpit Samantha may provide the chief threat.
It might be worth chancing handicap debutante BANNY HILL LASS, who ran well to a point in her latest qualifying race.

1st (6) ![]() Road To Home |
2/9(+44%) | (6) Road To Home 2/9, Successful on sole outing in bumpers for Eugene M. O'Sullivan and shaped promisingly second time up over hurdles when third in big-field maiden at Naas (15.5f) the previous month, despite looking unsuited by the drop in trip. This stiffer track will suit, and he has excellent claims. Bumper winner who was third of 20 at Naas last time; strong contender for Willie Mullins. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() He's Bresilian |
3/1(0%) | (2) He's Bresilian 3/1, Failed to complete in 2 points but has shaped with more encouragement in a couple of bumpers and showed even better form when third of 10 on January's Wetherby hurdling debut. Held back by a significant late mistake at Newcastle since and remains open to improvement. Every chance when bad mistake two out at Newcastle last month; leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Just Oot |
80/1(+20%) | (3) Just Oot 80/1, Down the field in 2 bumpers. Well beaten in both bumpers; hard to fancy back from a year off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Kelvin Forlonge |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Kelvin Forlonge 12/1, Just minor promise in a pair of bumpers. Showed some ability in bumpers; place prospects on hurdle debut, probably at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Annies Gold |
200/1(+0%) | (9) Annies Gold 200/1, Showed little in bumpers and did likewise sent hurdling at Market Rasen 3 weeks ago. Big odds and has shown little across her four outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Kingston Rock |
20/1(+0%) | (5) Kingston Rock 20/1, Modest maiden hurdler. Ran well in first-time cheekpieces when third in 7-runner maiden over C&D 12 days ago, but this is a far stronger race. 14-race maiden; very hard to envisage him winning this but he has place claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() Do Ye Wanna |
125/1(+50%) | (1) Do Ye Wanna 125/1, Well beaten in bumpers and again showed nothing switched to hurdling at Carlisle recently. Tailed off/pulled up at big odds on all three starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) ![]() Roxby Belle |
125/1(-89%) | (10) Roxby Belle 125/1, £48,000 purchase who is the first foal of a fairly useful 2½m hurdle winner but could hardly of shown any less starting out in a novice hurdle at Ayr recently. Pulled up on recent debut at Ayr and probably best watched for now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Woody's Boy |
100/1(0%) | (8) Woody's Boy 100/1, Tailed off on completed start in maiden hurdles. Tailed off/pulled up over hurdles this year on first two starts. |
Having finished third in a 20-runner maiden hurdle at Naas, Irish raider ROAD TO HOME should prove tough to beat. The six-year-old is sure to prove popular as Willie Mullins' first runner at this venue and he can repel He's Bresilian, who has reached the frame on both timber outings to date and another good account is forecast. The experienced Kingston Rock may fare best of the remainder.
It's hard to see this developing into anything other than a match between ROAD TO HOME and He's Bresilian. The former should be suited by the stiffer nature of this track having looked unsuited by the drop in trip when shaping promisingly on his second hurdling start at Naas the previous month, so he edges the vote.
The Willie Mullins-trained ROAD TO HOME was a good third at Naas last month and is taken to add to last June's bumper win.

1st (14) ![]() Mr Zee |
9/2(+55%) | (14) Mr Zee 9/2, Multiple Flat winner who remains without a success following a dozen attempts in this sphere but he has made the frame on 4 of his last 5 starts, including when third of 12 over 19f here (soft) last time, faring best of those held up. Place possibilities off the same mark. In good form, third here last month; he's well in the mix off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Zucayan |
7/2(+13%) | (3) Zucayan 7/2, Gained latest of his 2 wins at Ludlow off this mark in May 2023 and, though without luck since, he has strongly hinted that his turn is again near with solid placed efforts here and back at Ludlow since returning from a break last month. Big chance. Caught the eye when third at Ludlow latest, set plenty to do; form franked so a big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) ![]() Taritino |
5/1(+50%) | (9) Taritino 5/1, Fair winner on the Flat and posted one of his better efforts in this sphere when beaten less than 3 lengths into fifth in a 7-runner C&D handicap (good) last time. Down another 2 lb and he's one to consider. Back on track with a C&D fifth 15 days ago; very much one to consider off a 2lb lower mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Opticality |
22/1(-83%) | (11) Opticality 22/1, Ran creditably in a couple of appearances here last season and was successful on the Flat last March. Has also posted some decent efforts on the level for present yard and she's not discounted back hurdling off a reduced mark. Beat only one when last seen in this sphere at Fontwell last April; has a bit to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) ![]() Bruce Gobbler |
14/1(+58%) | (10) Bruce Gobbler 14/1, Little worthwhile form the Philip Hobbs & Johnson White and while he was successful between the flags last spring, there were few positives to take from his debut display for this yard here in January. Below-par seventh for his new yard in 2m3f handicap here in January; plenty more required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() John Betjeman |
15/2(-88%) | (6) John Betjeman 15/2, Has slipped to a dangerous mark and left the impression that he may soon snap his losing run when finding just one too good with blinkers refitted at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) earlier this month. 3 lb rise fair (pulled clear of the third that day) and he has to enter calculations. Back to form when second at Wincanton 19 days ago; up 3lb but he ought to be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Jim De Sarti |
9/1(-125%) | (5) Jim De Sarti 9/1, Bumper winner in France and sold quite cheaply from Nicky Henderson's yard after showing some promise on hurdles debut. Turned in easily best effort for this yard when runner-up at Sedgefield (16.8f, soft) in January. Unseated early next time but should be in the mix granted a clear round here. Runner-up at Sedgefield before unseated rider early at Huntingdon; can't be discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) ![]() Bigz Belief |
8/1(+20%) | (7) Bigz Belief 8/1, Modest strike rate but has dropped to an attractive mark and returned to form with headgear omitted when third of 11 at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) recently. Place possibilities. Solid third in 1m7f Wincanton handicap 19 days ago; on a long losing run but shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) ![]() Prince Rhinegold |
16/1(+52%) | (13) Prince Rhinegold 16/1, Exeter novice winner in 2023 and best effort since when third of 7 in a Wincanton handicap in November. However, he failed to back that up returned to the same course on his latest start on Boxing Day and it's easy enough to look elsewhere. Winless since early 2023 and tenth at Wincanton on Boxing Day; easy to look elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) ![]() Begin The Luck |
9/1(-13%) | (4) Begin The Luck 9/1, Deservedly got his head back in front when capitalising on a lower hurdles mark at Stratford (18.7f, heavy) in October. Largely creditable efforts in defeat since, coming home 11 lengths third to Ideallko (has won twice again since) at Warwick when last seen on New Year's Eve. Each-way claims. In good nick over fences, third at Warwick in December; much respected back in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) ![]() Us And Them |
100/1(-52%) | (1) Us And Them 100/1, Smart handicap chaser at best but long time since he got his head in front and failed to shine in various events for Alan Jones. No both starts for present yard and this 12-y-o looks set for another struggle. Winless since 2018 and pulled up in 2m3f Warwick handicap hurdle last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) ![]() Force De Frap |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Force De Frap 33/1, On a good mark judged on peak form but he's hard to warm to judged on recent evidence. C&D winner but pulled up on his last two starts, latest in 2m4f Bangor handicap hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (2) ![]() Pate Mollee |
40/1(-233%) | (2) Pate Mollee 40/1, Fair form over hurdles in France (claimed from David Cottin for €10,556) but it was a very low-key start for present connections at Wetherby where he was treading water some way out and eventually pulled up. Pulled up on yard debut at Wetherby last month; needs to take step forward now h'capping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) ![]() Janespriceless |
66/1(-100%) | (12) Janespriceless 66/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and she hasn't pulled up any trees in 4 starts over hurdles to date. Very lightly raced hurdler has yet to offer much; she's hard to make a case for. |
JIM DE SARTI hit the woodwork at Sedgefield in January before unseating early on at Huntingdon last month. There should be more to come from Tom Lacey's unexposed hurdler and, if able to put in an unblemished round of jumping, he ought to go very close. Zucayan has been knocking at the door recently and is unlikely to be far away, while John Betjeman is also noted.
The pick of several plausible candidates could prove to be ZUCAYAN, who has shown himself to be in good nick by finishing third in handicaps here and at Ludlow since returning to action last month. Taritino left the impression that he's getting the hang of things in this sphere over C&D recently and will be a threat if able to build on that. A reproduction of John Betjeman's latest effort will see him competitive, too, while Begin The Luck, Jim De Sarti and Mr Zee all make each-way appeal.
This looks a good opportunity for Fergal O'Brien's ZUCAYAN (nap) to build on his promising Ludlow third and resume winning ways

1st (8) ![]() Halfway House Lad |
7/4(+22%) | (8) Halfway House Lad 7/4, A most fortuitous winner at Newcastle on return (nearly 50 lengths down when left alone 2 out) but no element of luck involved in when scoring there 10 days ago, in command approaching last. Should go well again. Won at Newcastle recently and this in-form 6yo is a leading player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Lewa House |
11/2(+45%) | (6) Lewa House 11/2, On a losing run but showed he retains ability when returning from wind surgery to finish second at Ayr (20.5f). Showed little on belated chase bow here 12 days ago, however. Won here over hurdles but poor strike-rate and well beaten on recent chase debut here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Powers Dilemma |
11/1(-10%) | (1) Powers Dilemma 11/1, Lightly-raced maiden who was well held switched to handicaps last 2 starts. Headgear applied now sent chasing (placed on last of 4 starts in Irish points). Lightly raced point runner-up who is a possible improver now switched to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Coolmoyne |
10/3(-48%) | (3) Coolmoyne 10/3, Back to somewhere near best (following a wind operation) when second of 5 in handicap chase at Doncaster (20.5f, good) 34 days ago. Races off same mark here so needs considering. Poor strike-rate but sole win came here and he was a good second at Doncaster last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Dequall |
9/2(+50%) | (7) Dequall 9/2, Not disgraced over hurdles here last time but now 4 years since his last win and it's been 3 years since his last run over fences. On a handy mark on course hurdles form but on long losing run and return to form is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Beat The Boum |
8/1(+20%) | (4) Beat The Boum 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden who cut little ice switched to handicaps this season. Has at least dropped to a workable mark now chasing (made frame sole outing in Irish points). He may appreciate going chasing but he struggled to get competitive over hurdles. |
COOLMOYNE's sole career victory came over C&D and he showed a lot more when taking the silver medal home at Doncaster last month. The nine-year-old goes off an unchanged rating and could prove tough to beat. Halfway House Lad struck at Newcastle and is expected to mount another serious challenge off just 4lb higher. Of the remainder, Lewa House makes the most appeal.
A weak event but at least COOLMOYNE and Halfway House Lad both arrive in good heart, the former shading the vote.
Preference is for HALFWAY HOUSE LAD (nap), who won over fences at Newcastle recently. Powers Dilemma is second choice.

1st (4) ![]() Time To Bite |
10/3(-48%) | (4) Time To Bite 10/3, Back to something like best form when easily landing 6-runner handicap chase at Exeter (19.2f, good) 7 days ago. Carries 7 lb penalty here but that may not prevent the follow-up. Suddenly returned to form with comfortable win from the front at Exeter a week ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Gyenyame |
5/4(+64%) | (1) Gyenyame 5/4, Exeter winner in November who found improvement, in first-time blinkers, when good second of 5 in handicap chase at this course (21.7f, soft) 26 days ago. Races off same mark here and step back up in trip is a plus. Back in good nick when second here in first-time blinkers last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Ede'iffs Rock |
9/4(-13%) | (3) Ede'iffs Rock 9/4, Bagged third victory of season when taking 5-runner handicap chase (2/1) over C&D (soft) 26 days ago, driven clear. 5 lb higher now but another bold bid is on the cards, Made all for unchallenged C&D win last month and is now 2-5 since switched to fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) ![]() Langley Hundred |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Langley Hundred 5/1, Bounced back to capitalise on a reduced mark at Hereford (25.2f) in November and resumed winning ways over C&D in December. Posted creditable third, on recent return from 9 weeks off, back at Hereford latest and ought to give another good account. Dual C&D winner this season, latterly over C&D; on fairly tough mark but can go well again. |
A switch to aggressive tactics proved just the trick for EDE'IFFS ROCK when making all over C&D 26 days ago. Given the manner of that victory, a 5lb rise in the ratings looks on the lenient side and Bill Turner's mare is fancied to follow up. Having capitalised on a declining mark over 2m3f at Exeter recently, Time To Bite warrants respect. However, the veteran has yet to convince with stamina over this far and a bigger threat may emerge from Gyenyame.
Slight preference is for GYENYAME, who responded well to the fitting of blinkers here last month and will surely be suited by this stiffer test of stamina. Last week's Exeter winner Time To Bite is feared most.
Still well treated under a penalty, TIME TO BITE looked back in prime form when winning comfortably at Exeter a week ago

1st (1) ![]() Lawrenny |
4/1(-45%) | (1) Lawrenny 4/1, Progressive winner in bumpers and has done well over hurdles, taking 2m novice at Wetherby before good seconds at Newcastle and Sandown, splitting a promising pair last time when a steadily-run race back down at 2m was perhaps not ideal. Respected on handicap debut. Bumper/novice hurdle winner; begins handicap life on fair mark & could have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() That One |
7/1(-8%) | (4) That One 7/1, Took on a few above-average types in maiden/novice events and improved further to make a successful handicap debut in novice event at Newcastle (17f) last month, getting the better of the hard-pulling runner-up late on. Switched to open company up 4 lb but could have more to offer. Won on handicap debut at Newcastle and a 4lb rise may not stop this progressive 6yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Rewired |
3/1(+33%) | (3) Rewired 3/1, Took advantage of a much-reduced mark as he resumed winning ways in 17f Newcastle handicap hurdle 3 weeks ago. Looked right back on song and can go well again up 4 lb. Exploited reduced mark at Newcastle three weeks ago and remains well treated back up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Rock On Jet |
11/2(-65%) | (2) Rock On Jet 11/2, Found some improvement fitted with hood when making all in 2m Ayr handicap hurdle in the mud in January and made a promising start over fences there last time. Same mark back in this sphere and one to note. Won on handicap hurdle debut in January; fair third over fences since; could improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Famous Liss |
11/1(+0%) | (6) Famous Liss 11/1, Irish point winner who ran his best race over hurdles in C&D novice in June. Well beaten again last time but yard going much better now and he's not without interest back in a handicap over this trip. Stable form is a positive but he hasn't progressed and needs to raise his game. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Hourless |
33/1(+18%) | (7) Hourless 33/1, Dual winner for Alan King in 2023, including in C&D juvenile hurdle. Yet to look like adding to his tally for current connections but his mark has dipped again. Tongue tie goes on. On a reduced mark but hasn't been showing enough to suggest he's the one to be on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() V Twelve |
9/4(+63%) | (8) V Twelve 9/4, Back to form bidding to win 2m Wetherby conditionals' handicap hurdle for second year running last week, responding well to a more positive ride than previously and finding only a less-exposed sort too good. Respected off the same mark. Consistent sort who was second at Wetherby last Tuesday and could be thereabouts once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Galidam |
40/1(-150%) | (5) Galidam 40/1, Fair hurdler in France who opened his account in 10-runner claimer at Moulins back in September. May have needed first run since for new yard at Wetherby in January and off again since. Tongue tie back on and this should reveal more. Won French claimer last September but well beaten in January on stable debut. |
That One just prevailed by a neck in a class 5 at Newcastle last month and makes only his second handicap start, but he might come out second best to REWIRED. Tristan Davidson's seven-year-old went in by over three lengths, also at Newcastle, earlier in the month and a 4lb rise could prove to be on the lenient side. He can complete a double, while Lawrenny is another to consider on his handicap bow.
REWIRED looked right back on song as he resumed winning ways at Newcastle 3 weeks ago and can strike again after a 4 lb rise. There are several dangers, headed by Lawrenny and last week's Wetherby runner-up V Twelve.
Having tumbled down the weights prior to winning at Newcastle last time, REWIRED remains well treated back up 4lb and can follow up.

1st (3) ![]() Don't Wind Me Up |
4/1(+20%) | (3) Don't Wind Me Up 4/1, Steady improvement when finishing third in 3 maiden/novice hurdles. An SP of 5/4 suggests he was strongly fancied to make a winning start to his handicap career at Sandown in January but he finished a remote fifth. It'll be interesting to see whether his supporters' return. Looked likely handicap prospect but it didn't come off at Sandown; bred to appreciate 2m3f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Through The Ages |
2/1(+33%) | (6) Through The Ages 2/1, Dual hurdles winner last season (both when making the running) and back to that sort of form when runner-up over 2m at Lingfield (soft/heavy) on his last 2 outings. Obvious claims, particularly if first-time cheekpieces give him just a little extra. Solid handicap form at 2m latest; needs to prove 2m3f suits; cheekpieces fitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Him Malaya |
7/4(+13%) | (4) Him Malaya 7/4, Fair performer who was suited by the emphasis on speed when gaining a second career success in 9-runner C&D handicap (good) in December. Big player if returning from a 103-day break in similar form. Ready C&D winner (good) in December; up 4lb; has potential at trip; has gone well fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Chicago Storm |
9/2(-13%) | (1) Chicago Storm 9/2, Landed a Dundalk AW Flat claimer on final run for previous stable and has continued in fine form over hurdles for new yard, winning handicaps at Wincanton in January and Stratford (18.5f) 15 days ago. 5 lb rise demands more but merits respect in his current mood. Won 2-4 over hurdles for this yard, kept on well over 2m2f latest; up 5lb in stronger race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Raffles Nobu |
15/2(+63%) | (2) Raffles Nobu 15/2, Fair hurdle winner in France but comfortably held in handicap hurdles at Sandown and Newbury since joining Nicky Henderson. The cheekpieces he wore on his final start in France return now. 1-8 over hurdles in France; fair yard debut; highly tried latest; cheekpieces refitted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Clearance |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Clearance 40/1, Smooth traveller who struck twice at Newton Abbot at the start of last summer. Running respectably when last seen in the autumn but got to be a chance he'll need this after over 5 months off. All seven hurdle wins at Newton Abbot; likely to find easier opportunities back there. |
A rise in trip brought the best out of HIM MALAYA when landing the spoils in a class 3 event over C&D in December. A 103-day break is unlikely to prevent another bold display from Paul Nicholls' six-year-old and, off only 4lb higher, there should be more to come. Gary & Josh Moore have their string in fine order and Through The Ages must enter the reckoning after filling the runner-up spot at Lingfield on two occasions last month. Chicago Storm is unlikely to be far away either.
THROUGH THE AGES has been knocking at the door lately and is taken to come good again with cheekpieces added. Last-time-out C&D scorer Him Malaya is feared most ahead of the thriving Chicago Storm.
A few to consider but HIM MALAYA was suited by these conditions when a convincing C&D winner in December and he can go on from that.

1st (5) ![]() Ana Emaraaty |
5/4(+69%) | (5) Ana Emaraaty 5/4, Didn't need to improve to win 6-runner minor event (evens) at this C&D 12 days ago, readily. This mark is a good one and another bold show on the way. Versatile trip-wise; winner of C&D classified latest; weighted to go well back in handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Hijo De La Luna |
6/1(+45%) | (7) Hijo De La Luna 6/1, First run since leaving S. McConville when respectable 4½ lengths fifth of 12 to Rubellite in handicap at this course (12.4f, 9/2) 26 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and he has work to do. Maiden; non-stayer over 1m4f here on yard debut latest; still something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Rubellite |
3/1(+0%) | (3) Rubellite 3/1, Course winner. 9/2, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (14f) 13 days ago. Back down in trip and she should make her presence felt. Versatile; had C&D form in the autumn but 11lb higher now after 4 wins at 1m4f and 1m6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Made All |
15/2(+38%) | (6) Made All 15/2, 9/1, creditable fourth of 9 in handicap at this course (8f) 12 days ago. Back up in trip and he's not without each-way hope. Maiden; best form at 1m and he didn't shine in one previous attempt at 1m2f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Sandret |
7/1(-100%) | (2) Sandret 7/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in December. 4/1, respectable seventh of 12 in handicap at this C&D 39 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Looks competitive on form. C&D winner in December when 2lb higher; things haven't unfolded in his favour since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Victoria Legend |
100/1(-52%) | (8) Victoria Legend 100/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 7 in minor event at this course (8f, 18/1) 15 days ago. Back up in trip and he's readily passed over. Not achieved much in 1m2f handicap and two classified events, at 1m3f (turf) and 1m here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Neddies Boy |
16/1(+36%) | (4) Neddies Boy 16/1, First run since leaving R. P. Cody when last of 6 in handicap at this course (12.4f, 16/1) 21 days ago. Back to a potentially lenient mark but others preferred all the same. 1m4f Polytrack winner last February; weak finisher at the trip since; 1m2f can suit better. |
Rubellite has been in outstanding form of late, although this drop in trip is a slight concern. With that in mind, marginal preference is for MADE ALL, who showed more promise when fourth over a mile here last time and he may improve now stepped up in distance. Ana Emaraaty won a classified event over C&D recently and is another to consider.
Marginal preference is for ANA EMARAATY, who did the job well in a C&D classified race recently and looks nicely treated back in a handicap judged on that evidence. Sandret shaped better than the bare result from a poor position here last time and he could pose a real threat if they go a decent clip, while the hat-trick seeking Rubellite also commands plenty of respect.
Ana Emaraaty is a danger but THREE YORKSHIREMEN is weighted to go well now back at his last winning trip.

1st (4) ![]() Jet Legs |
5/1(+0%) | (4) Jet Legs 5/1, Winner of a pair of handicap chases around 3m last season but just respectable efforts at best so far this term and bit more needed in a change of headgear. Back down in trip. Down to a handy mark but needs a bigger run & the drop back in trip isn't an obvious plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Halpha Soleil |
2/1(+60%) | (8) Halpha Soleil 2/1, Won 2½m hurdle here in June and best effort over fences since when going close behind Divas Doyen over C&D 12 days ago. 8 lb better off with the winner here and needs considering with headgear on. Close second over C&D recently and he's one to consider in first-time cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) ![]() Divas Doyen |
3/1(+57%) | (9) Divas Doyen 3/1, Finally came good in 2½m handicap at Carlisle in November. Back to form when resuming winning ways under this rider over C&D 12 days ago by ½ length from Halpha Soleil. However, looks up against it racing off a 11 lb higher mark (7 lb out of the weights). 7lb wrong today but won over C&D recently and could be dangerous to dismiss. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Trac |
16/1(+43%) | (6) Trac 16/1, A 3-time winner last season but yet to fire this time around, soon off the bridle at Carlisle latest. Needs a big step forward. Below best this season but perhaps wind surgery will be the catalyst for a revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Choose A Copper |
7/2(+13%) | (3) Choose A Copper 7/2, Took a step forward when making a winning return/chasing bow over C&D in October but has gone backwards from that in 3 starts since, reported to have bled last time. A return to form is needed but he's 2-2 here so is worth a second look. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) ![]() Lieutenant Command |
11/1(+8%) | (1) Lieutenant Command 11/1, Useful handicap chaser at best for Noel Meade. All the better for belated return/yard debut when runner-up at Carlisle in December. On a nice mark on that form and shaped better than bare result starting out for this stable at Carlisle 5 weeks ago. Drop back in trip will suit. 11yo who isn't the force of old but has still shown spark this season and is not ruled out. |
GRAND VOYAGE benefited from a faller to land the spoils at Ayr, but he was in the process of running a creditable race nonetheless and a 2lb rise might underestimate him. Halpha Soleil was defeated by Divas Doyen over C&D, but is much better off at the weights so it would come as no surprise were he to reverse that form. Yealand must enter the equation if turned out again quickly following his third at Carlisle on Sunday.
LIEUTENANT COMMAND shaped as if back in form starting out for another new yard at Carlisle 5 weeks ago until his stamina ran dry and is potentially on a handy mark back down in class/distance. Halpha Soleil enhanced his decent record here when a good second over C&D 12 days ago so is another to consider along with Grand Voyage, who should remain competitive having ended his losing run at Ayr last time.
Course hurdles winner HALPHA SOLEIL was a good second over C&D 12 days ago and is taken to go one better.

7/1(+13%) | (5) Poet's Reflection 7/1, Just the one win from 26 NH runs. Failed to fire last season and returning from 11 months off here. Handicapper has at least given her a chance. Has C&D form after a layoff but she has it to prove back from another absence. |
Bobbi's Beauty was well beaten into third at Leicester last time, but goes off a 2lb lower mark and could get closer with Sean Bowen booked. Even so, MISS FEDORA makes more appeal. Seamus Mullins' mare stopped quickly when fifth at Lingfield, but she may be better judged on her success at Plumpton prior. If she can reproduce that level of form, she will prove hard to beat. Kate Of The Lodge completes the shortlist.
Irish point winner KATE OF THE LODGE catches the eye switched to chasing for this handicap debut so could be worth chancing in a weak race. Bobbi's Beauty is feared most.
Bobbi's Beauty and Miss Fedora both have claims but it could be worth chancing KATE OF THE LODGE on her handicap/chase debut.

1st (6) ![]() Eva Rosie |
5/1(+23%) | (6) Eva Rosie 5/1, C&D winner in January. 9/4, good head second of 7 to Violeta in minor event at this C&D 12 days ago. 1 lb better off with that rival now and she should give another good account. Win and close second last two C&D runs; sound claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Life On The Rocks |
2/1(+43%) | (3) Life On The Rocks 2/1, Four wins from 17 runs last year. Good third of 11 in handicap (7/2) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 14 days ago, left poorly placed. Expected to be bang there. Breakthrough success on AW doesn't look far away judged on his last-time-out third. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Rampant |
10/1(-11%) | (7) Rampant 10/1, Remains a maiden after 16 Flat runs. 7/2, creditable 2 lengths third of 7 to Violeta in minor event at this C&D 12 days ago. Hopes pinned on the first-time visor helping to eke out some improvement. Will have to settle better than last time if he's to turn the tables on Violeta/Eva Rosie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Calcutta Dream |
6/1(+0%) | (4) Calcutta Dream 6/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Southwell in January. Fifth of 8 in handicap at this course (8f, 7/2) 24 days ago. Back up in trip and shouldn't be too far away. Won two starts ago; excuses last time but others preferred back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Violeta |
5/1(+33%) | (5) Violeta 5/1, Didn't need to improve to win 7-runner minor event at this C&D (7/1) 12 days ago by head from Eva Rosie. Enters calculations. Chinned Eva Rosie in C&D classified contest 12 days ago; runner-up 1lb better off here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Skilled Warrior |
15/2(-114%) | (2) Skilled Warrior 15/2, Course winner. Eighteen runs since last win in 2023. Sixth of 8 in handicap (7/2) at this course (8f) 19 days ago. Back up in trip and would have a chance if able to get back on track. Rather watch having taken a backward step 19 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) ![]() We Still Believe |
11/1(-38%) | (1) We Still Believe 11/1, C&D winner. Creditable second of 7 in handicap at this C&D (22/1) 19 days ago, left poorly placed. Others make more appeal for win purposes on this occasion. Landed this in 2023 and found just a subsequent winner too strong latest (hung left). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Mr Coco Bean |
50/1(-100%) | (8) Mr Coco Bean 50/1, Fifty two runs since last win in 2021. 50/1, good second of 6 in minor event at this C&D 12 days ago but whether he will be in the same form is debatable. Signs of life in C&D classified last time but he's opposable back in handicap company. |
WE STILL BELIEVE bounced back to form when second over C&D earlier in the month and the seven-year-old merits the utmost respect off the same mark here. Life On The Rocks has a similar profile to the selection and is another to note after an encouraging effort at Wolverhampton, while Violeta edges out Eva Rosie and Rampant to be best of the rest.
LIFE ON THE ROCKS stopped the slide dropped to this 0-60 grade for the first time in a while a fortnight ago at Wolverhampton where he did well to finish as close as he did. The 7-y-o holds strong claims off the same mark here. Recent C&D 1-2 Violeta and Eva Rosie should both be in the mix once more, while a can also be made for Skilled Warrior.
A first AW win could be on the cards for LIFE ON THE ROCKS, who ran so well at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago.

![]() Eagle's Cairn |
(1) 9/1(0%) | (1) Eagle's Cairn 9/1, Better effort in bumpers when third of 6 at Carlisle (soft) 7 weeks ago but the form is little better than modest. Showed ability when third on second start but needs another sizeable step forward today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) ![]() Imperfectlyperfect |
11/8(+0%) | (2) Imperfectlyperfect 11/8, £70,000 recruit from the Irish pointing field who made a promising start to his Rules career when 5 lengths third in Kelso bumper (soft) last month. Tongue tie added. Leading claims with improvement likely. Point runner-up who was third on bumper debut at Kelso and that form has worked out well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Tea Boy |
5/1(+29%) | (6) Tea Boy 5/1, Diamond Boy half-brother to 3 winners, notably Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Put The Kettle On. Dam fair hurdler up to 2½m. Small stable has tasted bumper success. One to note in the betting. Half-brother to Champion Chase winner Put The Kettle On; worth a second look on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Nseventeen |
9/2(-35%) | (4) Nseventeen 9/2, £30,000 purchase after finishing third in an Irish point last March. Bumper and hurdle winners have emerged from that race so he rates an interesting contender, particularly if the betting vibes are strong. Third in Irish maiden point last March and he could have a part to play on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Ivan's Legacy |
14/1(+22%) | (8) Ivan's Legacy 14/1, Flag of Honour gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Les's Legacy. Dam (c92/h110) 2m/17f hurdle winner (stayed 2½m), also successful at up to 1¼m winner on Flat. The stable isn't a regular source of bumper winners. Half-brother to connections' Les's Legacy (RPR 110); may be one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Sparky Tom |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Sparky Tom 40/1, Telescope gelding. Dam (h87) maiden hurdler (stayed 21f). One of 2 newcomers from the stable and the betting should help to separate them. First foal; dam modest maiden hurdler; may be best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Moonlight Trail |
50/1(-25%) | (7) Moonlight Trail 50/1, £10,000 Pether's Moon mare. One of 2 newcomers from her stable Dam bumper/3m1f hurdle winner (RPR 109); takes on males on debut; may be best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Last Man Standing |
7/2(+50%) | (3) Last Man Standing 7/2, Schiaparelli gelding. Brother to fairly useful hurdle winner around 2½m Hidden History. The stable had a first-time-out bumper winner last month so market confidence worth noting. Brother to fairly useful hurdler Hidden History; no surprise to see a good run on debut. |
Peter Atkinson might only have a small string, but he has done well in bumpers when running in his own colours over the last five seasons and TEA BOY could enhance that record. The Diamond Boy gelding is related to a trio of useful types, most notably Champion Chase winner Put The Kettle On, so it would come as no surprise were he to be good enough. Imperfectlyperfect shaped with promise on his stable/Rules debut at Kelso and ought to go well, while Nseventeen is also noted.
IMPERFECTLYPERFECT gets the nod on the back of a promising bumper debut at Kelso last month. Donald McCain's Nseventeen was third in a decent Irish point last March and would rate a possible big threat if the betting speaks for him. Last Man Standing and Tea Boy are newcomers who make appeal on paper.
With the form of his bumper debut third at Kelso last month having worked out well, IMPERFECTLYPERFECT is the selection.

1st (2) ![]() Act Of Innocence |
1/2(+64%) | (2) Act Of Innocence 1/2, Placed in a valuable 25-runner Punchestown bumper on debut last spring (for Gearoid O'Loughlin) and shaped well again when 4 lengths fourth of 11 in listed bumper at Newbury (soft) on return for new connections in February. Sets a good standard for the rest to aim at. Made the frame in very competitive races on first two outings; hard to beat here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Soul Limbo |
15/2(+17%) | (5) Soul Limbo 15/2, Stable boasts a good record in this sphere but he didn't achieve much when a well-held fourth on his Chepstow debut in October. Off since. 9-2, well held when fourth on Chepstow debut but positives can be drawn from that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Bob Bishop |
12/1(+33%) | (7) Bob Bishop 12/1, €19,000 Milan gelding. Dam unraced. The betting should help guide to expectations. 19,000euros 3yo; dam unraced half-sister to a point winner; probably best watched on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Snatch A Glance |
6/1(+25%) | (4) Snatch A Glance 6/1, Passing Glance gelding. Dam (h122) bumper/21f hurdle winner (stayed 23f). From a good stable and has a decent pedigree for a race like this. Check the betting. First foal from a bumper/useful hurdle winner; has tough standard to reach on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Josh Central |
11/1(+56%) | (9) Josh Central 11/1, Joshua Tree gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful chaser Tip Top Mountain. Stable has been among the bumper winners so he'd need considering if the betting vibes are strong. Stable has done well in bumpers this season but this newcomer faces a tough assignment. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Idaho Bridge |
25/1(-108%) | (3) Idaho Bridge 25/1, 14/1, raced too keenly when sixth of 11 in bumper at Exeter (heavy) on debut 32 days ago. May do better if the addition of a hood helps him to settle. Made just a mildly encouraging debut last month but may fare better on this faster ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) ![]() Time Is Golden |
100/1(+0%) | (10) Time Is Golden 100/1, 33/1, well beaten on Huntingdon debut in October. Has had wind surgery ahead of this first run since. Well beaten when 33-1 for debut at Huntingdon in October; had wind op in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Field Of Aces |
16/1(+36%) | (8) Field Of Aces 16/1, Scalo gelding. Half-brother to fair 17f hurdle winner Solomoon. Dam (h111), lightly raced over hurdles in France, 1½m/12.5f winner on Flat. The stable gets bumper winners. One to note in the betting. Out of a French Listed Flat winner; worth a glance in the betting. |
Point-to-point winner SINCHI ROCA readily took care of his five rivals to make an instant impression over track and trip last month and is likely to have lots more to offer. The son of Getaway has Callum Pritchard claiming a handy 5lb to help negate his penalty for that success and he will prove tough to stop. Act Of Innocence lost two places towards the finish when fourth in a Listed event at Newbury and looks the obvious danger. Soul Limbo is another to watch out for.
ACT OF INNOCENCE has reached the frame in 2 strong bumpers and should take a bit of stopping with his sights lowered. Sinchi Roca created a good impression when quickening up nicely to score over C&D last month and is the one likely to give the selection most to do unless the betting speaks in the favour of one or more of the newcomers.
It's hard to get away from ACT OF INNOCENCE, who drops in grade after making the frame in two strong races.

1st (4) ![]() Zephlyn |
7/2(+61%) | (4) Zephlyn 7/2, C&D winner. Respectable second of 7 in C&D handicap 26 days ago. Enhanced a fair C&D record when second in a race not run to suit late last month; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Market House |
5/2(-100%) | (1) Market House 5/2, Yet another to benefit from a switch to James Owen, winning a pair of 12.5f course handicaps this month. Likely to be hard to beat again if his stamina holds up in trip. Has stamina to prove but may well be suited by the stiffer test; leading claims upped 2lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Val Bassett |
5/1(+58%) | (2) Val Bassett 5/1, C&D winner in October but not the most reliable and he never threatened back from a break when a below-form fifth of 10 in handicap at Southwell 14 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Things fell ideally when winning a C&D handicap off 3lb lower last autumn; held since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Star Of Markinch |
20/1(+9%) | (7) Star Of Markinch 20/1, Remains a maiden after 20 Flat runs. Creditable 5½ lengths second of 10 to reopposing Alex The Great over C&D latest but the suspicion is she'll find at least one too strong again. Never won under either code and a place may again be the best she can hope for. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Quercus Robur |
18/1(-13%) | (5) Quercus Robur 18/1, C&D winner. Creditable 6½ lengths third of 10 to Alex The Great over C&D (17/2) 18 days ago. Found his level again lately and is 8lb better off with Alex The Great; each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Alex The Great |
9/4(+10%) | (3) Alex The Great 9/4, 5/4, career best when winning 10-runner C&D handicap by 5½ lengths from reopposing Star of Markinch. A 5 lb rise shouldn't prevent another prominent showing. Career-best over C&D last time; this is deeper off 5lb higher but his claims are obvious. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) ![]() Typewritten |
33/1(-18%) | (8) Typewritten 33/1, Unreliable individual. Went close over C&D in January but 3 lesser runs have followed, including beaten 18½ lengths into seventh by Alex The Great over C&D 18 days ago. Hasn't won in well over two years and has become wildly inconsistent; flopped here latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) ![]() On The Bubble |
100/1(-150%) | (9) On The Bubble 100/1, 6½ lengths fourth of 5 to Market House over 12.5f 15 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Has work to do. Takes another big step up in trip; Star Of Markinch looks her stable's number one. |
ALEX THE GREAT had plenty in hand when scoring over C&D earlier in the month and a 5lb rise for that success may underestimate Tony Carroll's gelding. Star Of Markinch chased home the selection on that occasion and could well do so once again, although Market House is another in-form five-year-old who has to be of interest. Zephlyn made the frame in a similar event last time and completes the shortlist.
If MARKET HOUSE sees out the significantly longer trip he should complete a quick course hat-trick. Alex The Great left a few of today's rivals toiling in his wake here last time and is the obvious danger.
Only 2lb higher, MARKET HOUSE can complete the hat-trick now handed a stiffer test. Alex The Great is the obvious danger.

1st (1) ![]() Turquino |
4/9(+22%) | (1) Turquino 4/9, Highly promising sort. Won 8-runner novice at Southwell (11.1f, 11/10) on debut 21 days ago, slowly away. Open to any amount of improvement and he's very much the one to beat. Ready debut winner of 1m3f novice at Southwell; open to plenty of progress; big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Don Simon |
7/4(+47%) | (6) Don Simon 7/4, Lightly-raced maiden. Below form third of 8 in handicap (14/1) at Newmarket (12f, heavy) on final run of 2024 (gelded since). Has shown ability on the AW prior to that and is more appealing than most in this contest. Low-mileage son of Sea The Stars; gelded and he can't be ruled out on his seasonal return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Cascade Hall |
50/1(-25%) | (2) Cascade Hall 50/1, Twice-raced maiden on Flat. 40/1, fourth of 6 in novice at Southwell (12.1f) 32 days ago, slowly away. Will qualify for handicaps after this and will be of greater interest when going down that route in due course. Not disgraced for new yard when fourth at Southwell last month; may do better still. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Inspire Hope |
40/1(-233%) | (7) Inspire Hope 40/1, Twice-raced maiden on Flat. Fair winner at 17f over hurdles. 7/1, 17½ lengths third of 6 to Belfrina in juvenile hurdle at Doncaster (16.6f, good to soft) 59 days ago. Place possibilities. Fair hurdler and a solid third in Doncaster h'cap in January; much respected back on Flat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Destination Unkown |
50/1(-52%) | (5) Destination Unkown 50/1, €19,000 yearling, Magna Grecia gelding. Half-brother to useful 9.4f-18.6f winner Metier and 6f-1¼m winner Morryl Moral. Dam 1½m winner. Yard among the winners of late and, though not synonymous with first-time-out scorers, this newcomer is worth a second look in the betting. Son of Magna Grecia is considered on first run, especially if market vibes are positive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Fabuleux Du Clos |
80/1(-100%) | (3) Fabuleux Du Clos 80/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, won 3-runner handicap hurdle (11/4) at Doncaster (24.4f, soft) when last seen in December 2023. Hard to know what to expect of him on belated Flat debut following 15 months off but he clearly possesses ability and the market will be instructive. Off since scoring over hurdles at Doncaster 15 months ago; no forlorn hope on Flat debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Jysuis |
200/1(-33%) | (4) Jysuis 200/1, Twice-raced maiden on Flat. 18/1, fourth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (19.8f, good to soft) 5 days ago. Poor on latest start in this sphere and Fabuleux du Clos is presumably the stable No 1. Well held in a pair of 1m4f novices at Southwell; he's very hard to make a case for. |
Despite showing plenty of greenness, TURQUINO justified favouritism to comfortably score on his debut at Southwell earlier in the month. The son of Teofilo is likely to have plenty of improvement in him and can defy his 7lb penalty. Don Simon finished third on his handicap debut at Newmarket in September and has been gelded since, so he warrants a market check on his return. Cascade Hall can be in the mix for the minor honours.
It was only three weeks ago that TURQUINO made his debut but he looks set to make up for lost time pretty quickly judged on that impressive success at Southwell. The well-bred 4-y-o is taken to follow up here before his sights are raised. Don Simon is the clear pick of the others, with Inspire Hope likely to claim minor honours.
Andrew Balding's TURQUINO looked a really good prospect when a belated debut scorer at Southwell and can make light of a 7lb penalty

16/1(+0%) | (7) Coramento 16/1, Modest form for owner-trainer Ray Craggs. Cheekpieces on first time, seventh of 10 in classified event over C&D 39 days ago. Now trained by David Thompson. Only poor form shown for Ray Craggs; plenty more is needed on his yard/handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Wyvern |
10/3(+5%) | (1) Wyvern 10/3, C&D winner. Creditable close fourth of 7 in C&D handicap 21 days ago. Visor back on. Can make presence felt. C&D scorer; good fourth over C&D three weeks ago; not taken lightly off an unchanged mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Just Typical |
9/4(+18%) | (2) Just Typical 9/4, 3/1, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at this C&D 12 days ago by ¾ length from Concert Boy. A 2 lb nudge shouldn't prevent another prominent showing with Loughnane doing the steering. Cosily bagged a third win of 2025 over C&D 12 days ago; up 2lb but a likely player again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Concert Boy |
13/2(-44%) | (4) Concert Boy 13/2, Won a C&D classified event in January and added a 7f course handicap in February. Creditable ¾-length second of 9 to Just Typical over C&D (9/2) 12 days ago. In the mix again. C&D scorer; another good effort when runner-up over C&D latest; firmly in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Impeach |
9/1(+0%) | (6) Impeach 9/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2023. Bit below form 4¼ lengths sixth of 10 to Concert Boy in handicap (10/3) at this course (7f) 49 days ago. It's now 17 runs since his last success; handily weighted if getting back on track though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Odd Socks Havana |
10/1(-54%) | (5) Odd Socks Havana 10/1, Four-time C&D winner. 3/1, 2¼ lengths sixth of 9 to Just Typical over C&D 12 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Rebecca Menzies. A four-time C&D winner for Rebecca Menzies but he needs to bounce back for his new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Drakeholes |
5/1(+38%) | (3) Drakeholes 5/1, Three wins from 14 runs last year. 10/1, creditable fourth of 8 in handicap at this course (7f) 19 days ago, left poorly placed. Can give a good account. A four-time course winner who arrives in decent nick; ought to be thereabouts once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Barney's Bay |
20/1(0%) | (8) Barney's Bay 20/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. 14/1, creditable third of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7f) 7 days ago, nearest finish. Not discredited when third at Wolverhampton a week ago; possibilities back up in trip. |
JUST TYPICAL put his woeful performance at Wolverhampton behind him when winning over C&D earlier in the month and is just 2lb higher. Ian Williams' four-year-old has recorded three of his four career victories at this track and it would be no surprise to see him improve on that. Concert Boy finished just under a length behind the selection last time and looks the main threat again, while Odd Socks Havana isn't out of it either.
WYVERN is now below the mark he defied over C&D in November and his latest close fourth here suggests he might be in good enough form to take advantage. Recent C&D 1-2 Just Typical and Concert Boy may give the selection most to do.
It could pay to side with JUST TYPICAL to defy a 2lb weights rise for his cosy recent C&D victory and garner a fourth success of 2025

9/2(+18%) | (1) Sun Keeper 9/2, Winner at Wolverhampton in February. Not in same form under a penalty at Southwell (6.1f, 15/2) 25 days ago. Headgear on 1st time. Not taken lightly. Latest effort best ignored; claims if settling down from 6f in first-time cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Pastoral Way |
10/3(+44%) | (5) Pastoral Way 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. Good fourth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 13/2) 29 days ago. Again inclined to edge left on his handicap debut and needs to improve on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Atherstone Beau |
13/2(+19%) | (3) Atherstone Beau 13/2, 14/1, creditable third of 6 in maiden at this C&D 13 days ago. Others more persuasive. Not beaten far off 7lb higher on her C&D comeback; should go well back in a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Bothy Park |
7/1(-75%) | (7) Bothy Park 7/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 50/1, fourth of 6 in maiden at this C&D 13 days ago, not knocked about. Makes handicap debut. Open to further improvement. Just behind Atherstone Beau in a C&D maiden last time; is open to improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Miss Campanella |
80/1(-142%) | (9) Miss Campanella 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 125/1) 17 days ago. Five poor efforts to date, all at massive prices, and is seemingly exposed as moderate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Love Rock |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Love Rock 9/2, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap (11/1) at Chelmsford City (5f) 54 days ago. Shortlist material up 3 lb. Showed the right attitude when winning off 3lb lower at Chelmsford in January; player. |
Love Rock won by a neck at Chelmsford in January and holds an obvious chance. However, her draw in stall seven is a slight worry and, with that in mind, PASTORAL WAY gets the vote. David O'Meara's charge finished fourth at Wolverhampton last month and was kindly dropped 1lb. This is only his second start in handicap company and he could take a step forward to strike. Atherstone Beau is another to watch out for.
LOVE ROCK's career-best win at Chelmsford is backed up the timefigure so she can defy a 3 lb rise. Bothy Park shaped well on her qualifying run over C&D 2 weeks ago so rates the main threat ahead of Sun Keeper.
If he's more amenable in a first-time hood having been gelded, INERTIA ought to be competitive. Bothy Park is also considered.

1st (4) ![]() Midnightattheoasis |
16/5(-7%) | (4) Midnightattheoasis 16/5, Doubled career tally with victory in 11-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 6/4) 11 days ago, running on. Likely to make another bold bid. Very well backed when winning off a 5lb lower mark for Rossa Ryan 11 days ago; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Pop Dancer |
9/2(+44%) | (1) Pop Dancer 9/2, Sixteen runs since last win in 2023 but back on track when fourth of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 12/1) 14 days ago. Not taken lightly. Regressed in recent times but arrives in form and this is his first crack at 0-55 company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) ![]() Henery Hawk |
13/2(+24%) | (7) Henery Hawk 13/2, 3-time C&D winner. Eighteen runs since last win in 2024 but turned in his best effort for sometime when second of 11 in minor event (16/1) at this C&D 15 days ago, slowly away. Can make presence felt with a repeat. Three-time C&D winner who's regressed in recent times; much will hinge on how he gets away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) ![]() Mews House |
16/1(+52%) | (12) Mews House 16/1, Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. 8/1, possibly needed the outing on first run since leaving Linda Perratt when seventh of 9 in minor event at this course (6f) 26 days ago. More expected back with his old yard here last month; is capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Kipp Kelly |
11/1(+0%) | (9) Kipp Kelly 11/1, Creditable fifth of 10 in minor event (6/1) at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 8 days ago, not clear run. Will again need the breaks from an outside stall but is surely up to winning off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Phoenix Star |
8/1(+20%) | (8) Phoenix Star 8/1, 5-time C&D winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2024. Respectable third of 11 in minor event (11/2) at this C&D 15 days ago. Five-time C&D winner who's on the downgrade but handicapped accordingly; each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) ![]() Stallone |
25/1(-150%) | (11) Stallone 25/1, 3-time C&D winner. Eighteen runs since last win in 2024. 11/1, respectable fourth of 11 in minor event at this C&D 15 days ago, not ideally placed. Tongue strap on for 1st time. Won this last year off 9lb higher and rarely runs poorly over C&D but is on the downgrade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Sir Benedict |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Sir Benedict 12/1, Three wins from 13 runs last year. 12/1, respectable third of 8 in handicap at this C&D 19 days ago, faring best of those held up. Needs considering. Isn't as good or consistent as he used to be but has claims if repeating his latest effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) ![]() Rockley Point |
33/1(-106%) | (10) Rockley Point 33/1, 4-time course winner. Forty one runs since last win in 2023. 14/1, sixth of 7 in minor event at this course (6f) 5 days ago. Placed a couple of times here at big prices lately but is some way down the pecking order. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) ![]() Dash Gordon |
4/1(+0%) | (3) Dash Gordon 4/1, C&D winner who turned in a rare poor effort when fourth of 5 in handicap at this C&D 24 days ago. Type to bounce back quicky. First poor effort for this yard when well held over C&D latest; needs to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) ![]() Sixcor |
18/1(-100%) | (2) Sixcor 18/1, Latest win at Musselburgh in October. Respectable second of 8 in handicap at this C&D (66/1) 33 days ago. Solid comeback but lacks consistency and there's little wiggle room off this mark. |
A switch to 5f worked a treat for Midnightattheoasis when landing the spoils at Wolverhampton recently and another bold bid is forecast. However, a 5lb higher mark does demand more from Phil McEntee's inmate and SIXCOR is slightly more compelling. The seven-year-old arrives on the back of a solid second over C&D and a similar performance may prove sufficient. Pop Dancer and Dash Gordon are also worth a second look.
MIDNIGHTATTHEOASIS doubled his career tally at Wolverhampton recently and is the percentage call to follow up with Rossa Ryan retaining the ride. Dash Gordon is the type to bounce back quickly from a poor effort, with Sir Benedict and Pop Dancer others capable of having a say.
Kipp Kelly has had no luck lately but it's hard to get away from recent well-backed winner MIDNIGHTATTHEOASIS (nap).

1st (6) ![]() Aspire To Glory |
15/2(+0%) | (6) Aspire To Glory 15/2, Latest win at Wolverhampton in February. 4/1, not in same form when ninth of 12 in minor event at Southwell (8.1f) 21 days ago. Winning return to handicap company (1m) in February; no problem with 7f; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Rooska |
14/1(-65%) | (5) Rooska 14/1, Fourth of 6 in handicap (20/1) at this C&D 13 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Maiden; had two layoffs since late 2023 and run only twice in that time; shade risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Bomb Squad |
9/2(+25%) | (4) Bomb Squad 9/2, Latest win at Southwell in February. Creditable third of 6 in handicap at this C&D (7/2) 13 days ago. Respected. Multiple wins on Tapeta elsewhere; acts here too; remained in form since February 7f win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Cloch Nua |
6/4(-106%) | (2) Cloch Nua 6/4, 4-time course winner. 7/2, didn't need to improve to win 8-runner handicap at this course (8f) 19 days ago. Had plenty in hand that day so can defy a 4 lb rise. Three classified wins at 1m and 7f; impressive in 1m handicap here latest; back up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() Saisons D'or |
5/1(+29%) | (1) Saisons D'or 5/1, 3-time C&D winner. 11/2, probably needed the run when sixth of 7 in handicap at this C&D 24 days ago. Better expected now. Three C&D successes; all handicap wins off higher marks than today's; not far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Starlight Stanley |
25/1(-108%) | (3) Starlight Stanley 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in handicap (13/2) at Hamilton (8.3f, good to soft). Off 10 months. Makes tapeta debut. Faded over 1m on handicap debut last May; off since; too many unknowns on this AW debut. |
CLOCH NUA put his defeat at Southwell behind him when regaining the winning thread over 1m here earlier this month. Stella Barclay's gelding scored with enough in hand to suggest that a 4lb higher mark is surmountable and reverting to 7f may not be enough to prevent another triumph. Bomb Squad is 1lb lower than his C&D third last time and the seven-year-old is feared most, ahead of Saisons D'Or.
CLOCH NUA quickly resumed winning ways with plenty in hand here 3 weeks ago so he can score again. The veteran Saisons d'Or should strip fitter for his comeback run so is feared most.
Several are worth a look but if CLOCH NUA doesn't leave himself with too much to do on the return to 7f he looks the one to beat.
Ths is the racecard key.
