1st (11) ![]() Noble Nation |
3/1(+45%) | (11) Noble Nation 3/1, Making only his second start at sprint trips, took a step forward when opening account in 13-runner handicap at Sligo (5.7f, soft, 7/2) in August, well on top finish. Remains unexposed and he's a major player. Two promising handicap runs before beating the frustrating Dark Viper at Sligo, 7lb higher. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Catherine Chroi |
9/1(-29%) | (2) Catherine Chroi 9/1, Won six times last year and left her reappearance behind when fourth of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (6f, soft, 25/1) a week ago, helped by being held up in strongly-run race. Not taken lightly with recent run behind her. Fourth at the Curragh last Sunday with Loingseoir and Rathbranchurch behind, clear chance. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Sakakawea |
11/1(+0%) | (10) Sakakawea 11/1, Winner at Sligo on her third start, but failed to repeat that effort 6 months later when thirteenth of 15 on handicap debut at the Curragh (6f, soft, 7/1) in October. Remains lightly raced so she's not ruled out. Has a low rating for a maiden winner but she failed to make an impact on handicap debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Velvet Skies |
10/1(-100%) | (6) Velvet Skies 10/1, Bounced back to form when belatedly doubling his tally in 13-runner handicap (9/2) at Dundalk (6f) 16 days ago, edging ahead near line. Task is now to be able to build on his latest effort. Recent Dundalk win was his first since 2023 and only second in all, others preferred. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (16) ![]() Lismacbryan Hill |
14/1(+58%) | (16) Lismacbryan Hill 14/1, Remains a maiden and, in first-time cheekpieces, fared no better when twentieth of 24 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, soft, 33/1) in October. Looks to be up against it. Has failed to reach the first ten in three handicap starts, yard had a winner last Sunday. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (14) ![]() Senado Square |
10/1(+29%) | (14) Senado Square 10/1, Course winner. Tongue strap on for 1st time, bit below form fifth of 11 in handicap at Dundalk (6f, 15/2) 2 days ago. Has been kept busy on AW, the latest run was on Friday when My Girl Sioux fared better. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Rathbranchurch |
4/1(+43%) | (3) Rathbranchurch 4/1, Thirteen runs since his last win, but after 4 months off he met trouble in running when seventh of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (6f, soft, 4/1) a week ago. Is now 4 lb below his last winning mark so he merits consideration. Beaten favourite last Sunday, needs to reverse form with Catherine Chroi and Loingseoir. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Loingseoir |
16/1(-78%) | (5) Loingseoir 16/1, Latest win at Fairyhouse in September and, having dropped back down to the same mark, shaped as if better for the run when fifth of 13 in handicap at the Curragh (6f, soft, 12/1) a week ago. One to note. All six wins have come over longer trips, last Sunday's Curragh fifth was encouraging. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Devil's Angel |
25/1(-108%) | (9) Devil's Angel 25/1, Twenty-four runs since last win in 2022. Again ran respectably when 4 lengths fifth of 13 to Velvet Skies in handicap (13/2) at Dundalk (6f) 16 days ago, but something extra required if he's to get back to winning ways. Has been holding his form at Dundalk, beaten 4l in fifth behind Velvet Skies on latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) ![]() Distillate |
40/1(-233%) | (8) Distillate 40/1, C&D winner who was successful twice at Cork (both at 7f) last year. Not discredited on final 2 outings, third of 10 in claimer (5/2) at Dundalk (6f) when last seen in November. Back in handicap company on her return. Best at 7f but finished a consistent AW spell with third over this trip in November. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (15) ![]() Step Back In Time |
14/1(+72%) | (15) Step Back In Time 14/1, Eleven runs since sole success in 2023. One of better efforts when third at Navan in October but below form on remaining 2 starts last year, eleventh of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (6f, 25/1) 4 months ago. Others preferred. No strong reason why she can improve her 1-25 record, placed only once last season. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) ![]() White Clover |
8/1(+20%) | (1) White Clover 8/1, Off the mark at the eighth attempt when winning 13-runner maiden at Navan (5f, good to soft, 8/1) in October, staying on to lead well inside final 1f. More needed as she goes handicapping after 5 months off. Belatedely delivered on early-season promise with 5f win in October, mark left unchanged. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (7) ![]() Run Forrest Run |
25/1(-108%) | (7) Run Forrest Run 25/1, Successful at the Curragh (6f) in October and ran at least as well when fifth of 15 in handicap at the same C&D (soft, 25/1) later same month. Needs to pick up where he left off making first start since leaving Michael Fenton. Took advantage of a reduced mark to win at Cork last October, has changed stable. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (4) ![]() Escape Act |
28/1(-27%) | (4) Escape Act 28/1, After 5 months off ahead of first run since leaving David Simcock, was never involved when twelfth of 18 in handicap at the Curragh (8f, soft, 16/1) 7 days ago. Needs to get back on the up as he drops in trip. Down the field at the Curragh last week, vulnerable on first attempt below 1m. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (12) ![]() Times In Oz |
100/1(-150%) | (12) Times In Oz 100/1, Third at Tipperary on second start but well held both subsequent outings, fourteenth of 18 in handicap at Navan (5.8f, good to soft, 80/1) when last seen in October. First run for yard after leaving Daniel James Murphy. Made the frame in two small-field maidens last year, down the field on handicap debut. |
Velvet Skies comes here in winning form from Dundalk but may not want the ground to soften too much. With that in mind, WHITE CLOVER gets the nod. She won a maiden to end her last campaign and doesn't look harshly treated off 72, despite carrying top-weight. Others for the shortlist include Noble Nation, Step Back In Time and Escape Act.
NOBLE NATION showed improved form when getting off the mark in comprehensive fashion at Sligo last summer and, with more still to offer as a sprinter, he is taken to follow up on his return. Catherine Chroi stepped up on her reapppearance when making the frame at the Curragh last week and could be the main danger, with Rathbranchurch completing the shortlist.
This looks very open and it could pay to forgive RATHBRANCHURCH his failure to justify favouritism at the Curragh last Sunday.

![]() Lep Around |
(2) 25/1(+24%) | (2) Lep Around 25/1, Fair winning hurdler. Well held in handicaps first 2 starts this season and fared no better switched to fences at Thurles last week. Has plenty to prove at present. Maiden winner; has no right to be troubling her two rivals on these terms. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (1) ![]() Jalila Moriviere |
4/9(+11%) | (1) Jalila Moriviere 4/9, Fairly useful hurdler. 11/4, first run since leaving Mlle D. Mele in France when fourth of 5 in conditions event at this course (20f, soft) 86 days ago, weakening after leading until before 2 out. Now drops back in trip with tongue tie refitted. Hard to beat if back to anywhere near her best. Too free and didn't get home over 2m4f here at Christmas; this looks a lot easier. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Mongibello |
15/8(-15%) | (3) Mongibello 15/8, Fairly useful hurdler. Won Perth novice last June. Better form in defeat in 2 outings at Fairyhouse back from a break in January, latterly fifth of 8 in a Grade 3. Stone inferior to Jalila Moriviere on official ratings but she boasts the superior RPRs. |
MONGIBELLO has 14lb to find with Jalila Moriviere on ratings but can be depended upon to run to a useful level. Listed-placed in a bumper in November 2023, her hurdles form hasn't been as strong but nonetheless ran two solid races at Fairyhouse in January, with the latter race being at Grade 3-level. Jalila Moriviere disappointed on her Irish debut here last Christmas but returns following a break. She could leave that form well behind, but didn't feature at Cheltenham last week and now wears a first-time tongue-tie. Lep Around is out of form.
If JALILA MORIVIERE can recapture anything like the pick of her French form at the second time of asking for Willie Mullins she'll likely prove a bit too strong for Mongibello.
Jalila Moriviere is rated a stone superior to MONGIBELLO on official ratings but the selection has posted the superior RPRs.

![]() Gazelle D'or |
(1) 6/1(-71%) | (1) Gazelle D'or 6/1, Career best when winning 8-runner nursery at Navan (5.8f, good to soft, 3/1), all out. Off 165 days but well in the mix. 2-9, up 3lb for Navan win over 6f on final run of 2024, unproven on testing ground. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (10) ![]() Dance For Chester |
4/1(+75%) | (10) Dance For Chester 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Twentieth of 22 in minor event at the Curragh (6.3f, good, 100/1). Off 6 months. Down in trip. 0-5, all starts so far on good ground, brother won on heavy, may do better. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) ![]() Eric Lock |
10/1(-67%) | (9) Eric Lock 10/1, Respectable sixth of 10 in handicap (5/1) at Dundalk (5f) 9 days ago. Blinkers back on. Can make presence felt. 0-11 and yet to finish in first three, mark sliding but has struggled both starts on soft. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Unique Journey |
10/3(+5%) | (4) Unique Journey 10/3, Lightly-raced maiden. Good second of 16 in nursery (7/1) at Galway (7f, heavy), clear of rest. Off 146 days. Back down in trip. Cheekpieces back on. Expected to be bang there. Has improved for h'caps, fine run on heavy at Galway on last start, trip a query. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Island Girl |
13/2(-30%) | (2) Island Girl 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden. 4/1, eighth of 11 in nursery at Dundalk (5f). Off 149 days. Likely to improve. Considered. Promise in a pair of Navan maidens at 5f, slowly away on h'cap debut on AW, best watched. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) ![]() Historical Fact |
28/1(-100%) | (12) Historical Fact 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, eighth of 10 in handicap (33/1) at Dundalk (5f) 9 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Very hard to make a case for. 0-5, mild promise on h'cap debut at Dundalk, needs more; now wears tongue tie & hood. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Sarahmae |
25/1(-25%) | (7) Sarahmae 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 125/1, eleventh of 21 in maiden at the Curragh (6f, good to soft). Off 157 days. Makes handicap debut. Big prices and didn't trouble the judge in maidens, could improve on h'cap debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Charanda |
12/1(+0%) | (5) Charanda 12/1, Blinkered/tongue strap on for 1st time, seventh of 10 in handicap at Dundalk (7f, 28/1) 23 days ago. Back down in trip. Uphill task. Yard in form, majority of form on the AW, this looks her trip but a bit to prove on turf. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Kayamite |
20/1(-25%) | (8) Kayamite 20/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 14 in maiden (100/1) at Dundalk (6f). Off 93 days. Makes handicap debut. Not easy to make a case for. Beaten similar distances in trio of AW maidens, testing ground could suit, likely improver. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Stiorra |
33/1(-175%) | (3) Stiorra 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden. First run since leaving Ollie Sangster when twelfth of 14 in maiden at Dundalk (7f, 16/1). Off 135 days. Down in trip. Makes handicap debut. Handicap debutante, untried on soft ground, disappointed on stable debut at Dundalk. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) ![]() James The Second |
3/1(+67%) | (11) James The Second 3/1, Respectable tenth of 16 in claimer at Fairyhouse (7f, good, 20/1). Off 6 months. Back down in trip. Merits consideration at these weights if fully tuned up. Best effort when third on soft at Galway over 7f, 9lb lower now, Joyce prefers stablemate. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) ![]() Tilly's Company |
14/1(0%) | (6) Tilly's Company 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 16/1, tenth of 14 in nursery at this C&D (good to firm). Off 6 months. 0-5 so far, best effort on fast ground at Cork, well beaten on h'cap debut, best watched. |
A tricky looking contest and UNIQUE JOURNEY may be able to strike on his return. The Danny Murphy-trained gelding ran a big race in testing conditions when last seen at Galway in October, having been a touch unlucky on his previous outing at Navan. He had finished third to one of today's rivals, Gazelle D'or, on his handicap debut and is weighted to turn the tables now. Island Girl had some nice maiden form last season and is one to note for a yard that generally makes a good start to the season.
UNIQUE JOURNEY rates the pick of these weights so is fancied to build on his excellent Galway second and get off the mark on his seasonal return. Gazelle d'Or heads the list of dangers on the back of her breakthrough Navan success with Eric Lock and Island Girl appealing as the pick of the rest in the battle for minor honours.
A chance is taken on DANCE FOR CHESTER. He hasn't shown much so far on good ground but he could improve plenty for these conditions

1st (2) ![]() Bel Amigo |
1/4(+88%) | (2) Bel Amigo 1/4, Fairly useful chaser in France. Showed much more than previously for current yard (following a wind operation) when taking 10-runner novice hurdle (18/1) over C&D (good to soft) 14 days ago. Likely contender. Won C&D novice a fortnight ago and he's the stand-out danger to Admiral Stewart. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Kanitamay |
100/1(-203%) | (7) Kanitamay 100/1, Out with the washing starting out in a bumper at Ayr in January and has failed to complete in both starts in this sphere. Looks one for handicaps down the line. Early days but she's shown very little on her two completed starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Blazing Court |
5/1(+69%) | (3) Blazing Court 5/1, Steadily progressive over fences for Martin Keighley last summer and posted creditable effort for new yard over the smaller obstacles at Ayr in November. More on plate back from 4 months off here, however. Won handicap chase at Worcester last August but needs others to underperform to land this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Man Of Action |
25/1(+0%) | (4) Man Of Action 25/1, Winless in 8 attempts on the level and is likely best watched on first try over hurdles. Failed to progress on the Flat (0-8) and tailed off in January on sole hurdle start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Supreme George |
15/2(+25%) | (5) Supreme George 15/2, Standout run in 4 attempts over timber came when second at Doncaster (16.6f) in November. Well below that level twice since but can't be ruled out in first-time hood. Runner-up at Doncaster in November but needs more here, and disappointing since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() Team Endeavour |
150/1(-50%) | (6) Team Endeavour 150/1, Modest Flat winner for Ian Williams who has offered little in a couple of hurdles runs for current connections. Flat win came off basement mark and pulled up/tailed off on his two hurdle starts. |
Having found only a subsequent Grade 2 winner too strong at Ayr in January, ADMIRAL STEWART is unlikely to bump into anything of that class here. Jamie Snowden's gelding is likely to take all of the beating if handling the undulations of this track and he's preferred to recent C&D winner Bel Amigo. The son of Jeu St Eloi boasts plenty of experience and another bold bid is forecast. Supreme George is the pick of the remainder.
ADMIRAL STEWART boasts the best form on show here and hails from a yard in fine form. He can return to winning ways. Bel Amigo and Supreme George look the obvious dangers.
Having bumped into a subsequent Grade 2 winner when second at Ayr in January, ADMIRAL STEWART can regain the winning thread today.

1st (13) ![]() Siege Ofjadotville |
25/1(+0%) | (13) Siege Ofjadotville 25/1, Sent off at long odds when achieving little on three starts in maiden company. Should be better suited by handicaps but needs significant improvement to take this on handicap debut. Tailed off in trio of maiden hurdle runs so far; needs marked improvement on h'cap debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() The Nagger Reidy |
10/3(+39%) | (3) The Nagger Reidy 10/3, Winner at Listowel (18f) in September and much improved when runner-up to a thriving sort 8-weeks later. Things haven't gone to plan since the turn of the year, unseated having jumped poorly on penultimate start before disappointing at Fairyhouse last month. Looks worth another chance. In good form earlier this term; beaten joint fav latest though and 2m may be against him. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Ellaat |
11/2(+8%) | (4) Ellaat 11/2, Fairly useful at his best in this sphere and returned to form on final couple of starts for Charles Brynes, confirming the promise of his reappearance when landing a 10-runner claiming hurdle at Clonmel (16f, heavy) 24 days ago. Respected starting out life for new yard. Back to best with Clonmel claimer win latest; feasibly treated back in h'cap company. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) ![]() The Truant |
13/2(+59%) | (9) The Truant 13/2, May have been finding his fitness of late, down the field over hurdles at Naas after 5 months off, before running respectably on the Flat 16 days ago. Back over timber with tongue-tie refitted and remains capable of a better showing. Sligo winner in June but record is 1-25 and below best in this sphere on last 2 runs. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) ![]() Royal Reprobate |
12/1(-50%) | (12) Royal Reprobate 12/1, Caught the eye on handicap debut for Gavin Crowell but amiss on final start for that yard having sustained a cut. Lightly-raced and one to note in the betting making stable debut. Modest form in maiden hurdles and well held in Clonmel handicaps twice since. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Harry's Dream |
7/1(-17%) | (8) Harry's Dream 7/1, Notable second of 17 at Gowran Park in a maiden hurdle in November and although not quite at that level in subsequent couple of starts, could well have more to offer now handicapping. Promise in bumpers and maiden hurdles but tailed off last twice; fair mark for h'cap debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Falcon Park |
17/2(-143%) | (6) Falcon Park 17/2, Dual hurdles winner around 2m this winter and progressed again on final start for Paul Hennessy when second of 16 in handicap hurdle (6/1) at Gowran (16f, soft) 59 days ago. No surprise to see him run well again on stable debut. Relished return to timber this season; only narrowly denied in hat-trick bid latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() Drop The Anchor |
10/1(+38%) | (2) Drop The Anchor 10/1, Shaped better than he has done for a while when dropped in distance latest, fifth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (20f, heavy) 15 days ago, despite jumping none too fluently. Well-handicapped if he can prove as effective over this even sharper test. Inconsistent and no wins since 2021; showed a bit more over 2m4f latest; drops in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) ![]() Kingdom Calling |
33/1(-32%) | (5) Kingdom Calling 33/1, Win at Listowel in September is proving a standout effort, well-below form since including when hooded for first time, eighteenth of 20 in handicap hurdle (80/1) at Gowran (19.8f, heavy) 36 days ago. Improvement needed. Maiden hurdle winner in Sept but struggled since; tailed off in h'caps last twice. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) ![]() Mujeres Isla |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Mujeres Isla 40/1, Showed more on final qualifying run over this sort of trip but well-below form on handicap bow, fourteenth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (18.9f, heavy, 50/1) 24 days ago. Return to a sharper test from a 3 lb lower mark but needs to step take a step forward. Distant 5th in maiden hurdle was more promising but tailed off 50-1 shot on h'cap bow. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) ![]() Mattie's Mountain |
33/1(0%) | (11) Mattie's Mountain 33/1, Course winner showed nothing on first run since leaving Eoin Christopher McCarthy when 66/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Gowran (16.1f, heavy) 15 days ago. Questions to answer now. No wins since a hat-trick in 2020 and he was pulled up on yard debut earlier this month. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) ![]() Semblance Of Order |
5/1(+58%) | (1) Semblance Of Order 5/1, Fared no better latest, despite being back at a more suitable trip, fifth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Naas (15.5f, heavy) 28 days ago, but has been given some respite from the handicapper, dropped 4 lb. Each-way prospects. Maiden hurdle winner last term; struggled in h'caps since; no signs of revival latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (15) ![]() Rene Artois |
80/1(-100%) | (15) Rene Artois 80/1, Ran poorly when 25/1, thirteenth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (15.6f, good to soft) 17 days ago. First-time blinkers need to spark a revival. 0-9 over timber and a long way out of the handicap for this. |
ELLAAT won a recent claimer and should again compete in this winnable handicap. An eight-time winner with an ability to handle all terrains, the selection benefited from January's course reappearance run when scoring subsequently at Clonmel and a reproduction, for a new team, would give him every chance. Falcon Park also debuts for new connections and ran well on Thyestes day in January. He races from a career-high rating but softening ground will suit. The Nagger Reidy weakened late-on at Fairyhouse last month but can compete on best form.
THE NAGGER REIDY looked to be progressing in this sphere following a likeable victory and runner-up effort, and he's worth another chance having disappointed last time. ELLAAT was nursed back to form to win on final start for previous connections and he should go well for his new yard, while Drop The Anchor is feasibly treated if coping with this drop back in trip.
The 9yo FALCON PARK has been thriving back over hurdles this season and he ran a cracker in defeat in his hat-trick bid latest

1st (2) ![]() Kayf Dancer |
1/14(+91%) | (2) Kayf Dancer 1/14, Some encouragement only start in bumpers and, after another 11 months off, left his hurdling debut effort behind when 7½ lengths third of 14 to The New Lion in maiden at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) in October. Leading contender upped in trip. Lightly raced with absences but Chepstow 3rd (2m4f, soft) in October gives him good chance. |

17/2(+61%) | (4) Thankyouandplease 17/2, Runner-up completed start in Irish points in January and hinted at ability when fourth of 5 in novice at Wincanton (19.8f, soft) on hurdling debut 17 days ago. Has plenty to find in this contest, though. Irish point 2nd; 37l fourth of five when 50-1 for 2m4f Wincanton novice; should improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Rockbeare |
18/1(+73%) | (3) Rockbeare 18/1, Half-brother to 2 winning hurdlers but offered little on debut when last of 12 in bumper at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) in January, racing freely. Looks to be up against it as he goes hurdling over this longer distance. 28-1, beaten a long way in last of 12 for bumper at Wincanton (1m7f, good to soft). |
A highly promising third behind none other than The New Lion at Chepstow in October, KAYF DANCER has had a break since and that form sets the standard on his return to action. Doctor Kildare arrives with similar claims after a respectable second at Doncaster earlier in the month, but will need to improve his jumping if he is to trouble the selection. Thankyouandplease may pick up the pieces if the aforementioned pair falter.
KAYF DANCER has been shaping up well in his 3 starts so far, keeping on for third behind subsequent dual Grade 1 winner The New Lion at Chepstow last time, so he is taken to get off the mark with this longer trip promising to suit. He can see off the challenge of Doctor Kildare, who is also open to further improvement.
This looks a match between KAYF DANCER and Doctor Kildare, with not much between them on ratings. The trip should be fine for both.

16th (1) ![]() Freelance Dancer |
125/1(-89%) | (1) Freelance Dancer 125/1, €27,000 foal, Bungle Inthejungle gelding. Closely related to 1¾m-16.5f winner Ravenscar and half-brother to 7f-1¼m winner Visibility. Close relation to dual-purpose sort Ravenscar, half-brother to prolific winner Visibility. |
ROWDY YEATS may be able to make a winning return here. The Make Believe colt made a promising start last season when chasing home the classy Arizona Blaze at the Curragh on the first day but didn't see the track again until September, when again second to Cercene. The handicapper has given him a lofty enough mark of 91 and that sets a good standard. Iron Fist is rated 87 after three runs last year, the best of those when second to Cap Saint Martin at the Curragh. He looks like an obvious danger. Ballydoyle colt Mississippi River was placed on all three starts last season and is another one for the shortlist.
Lots with chances but the vote goes to MISSISSIPPI RIVER who progressed with each of his three runs as a juvenile and can make a winning return here. Noel Meade's Rowdy Yeats also has better days ahead of him and heads the list of dangers with Storm Piece, Iron Fist, Dun An Oir and Diego El Queso also in the picture.
This could go to IRON FIST who showed ability in 1m maidens at the Curragh and may prove at least as effective over this trip

1st (7) ![]() Raffles Wonder |
9/1(-64%) | (7) Raffles Wonder 9/1, Free-going sort who won a handicap hurdle last March. Switched to fences this term, striking at third time of asking in 2-finisher event at Sedgefield (2m, soft) in January. That race fell apart but his lightly-raced profile provides the hope for better and his yard won this in 2021. Had wind op. Only two finishers when he won at Sedgefield but this unexposed 6yo is not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Captain Ivan |
9/1(+10%) | (5) Captain Ivan 9/1, Struck at the fourth time of asking for the Ewan Whillans yard when seeing off 4 rivals at Market Rasen (19f, good to soft) 33 days ago. Raised 5 lb but he retains handicapping scope on old form. 11yo who won at Market Rasen last month and remains well treated on old form back up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Grain D'oudairies |
9/1(0%) | (1) Grain D'oudairies 9/1, Scored at Market Rasen last March and gained reward for consistency when returning to winning ways at Doncaster (2m) in November. Took a heavy tumble at Wetherby next time and weakened into a below-par sixth at Musselburgh since. Disappointing at Musselburgh last time but capable of having a big say if back on song. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Heritier |
9/1(+18%) | (6) Heritier 9/1, Back to winning ways in 19f handicap hurdle at Carlisle in December but the handicapper has been in charge since, his jumping once again lacking fluency when fifth of 7 over fences at Ayr 15 days ago. First-time cheekpieces need to have a positive effect. Second in this last year but well beaten the last twice; revival needed now in cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) ![]() Fearless Action |
9/2(+31%) | (10) Fearless Action 9/2, Ridden more patiently than is often the case when back to winning ways in 2m Sedgefield handicap (good to soft) 12 days ago. Respected up 6 lb. Inconsistent but won by 6l at Sedgefield recently and in the mix if backing that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Glory And Honour |
10/3(+52%) | (2) Glory And Honour 10/3, Versatile sort who resumed winning ways in chase at Newcastle in November. Back to best when second of 6 at Doncaster (2m, good) last month. Has cheekpieces he's won in on the Flat refitted for the first time in nearly 2 years. Second to course specialist at Doncaster last time and he's on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) ![]() Sword Of Fate |
66/1(-100%) | (11) Sword Of Fate 66/1, Scored over fences at Cartmel last summer but well below par when last seen in the autumn. Been off for 5 months. Won off 2lb higher last July but this 12yo has struggled subsequently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (8) ![]() Treaty Boy |
11/2(+8%) | (8) Treaty Boy 11/2, Both chase wins over 2m at Catterick, the latter in February. Beaten at short odds but ran close to form when second of 4 back there 8 days later. Placed over this C&D in the autumn. Won at Catterick last month; 5l second of four there since; needs something extra today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Carcaci Castle |
11/1(-38%) | (3) Carcaci Castle 11/1, Bounced back to his best when winning a 6-runner handicap chase at Hexham (2m, good) last summer. Hasn't reproduced that form in 3 subsequent appearances but he is back on the Hexham win mark if staging a revival back from 12 weeks off. Won off this mark at Hexham last June but hasn't kicked on from that victory. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Five Dollar Fine |
15/2(+38%) | (4) Five Dollar Fine 15/2, Made it 3 wins in 4 starts when seeing off 6 rivals over 2m at Carlisle in October but his run of good form came to an abrupt halt in November. Has been freshened up since. Below par on last two starts but return to Carlisle and the drop back in trip could help. |
Captain Ivan relished a step up in distance when scoring over 2m3f at Market Rasen last month and he's dangerous to discount in his current form. However, a 5lb higher mark and drop in trip may scupper the veteran's chances and preference is for RAFFLES WONDER. Rebecca Menzies' inmate has undergone a wind operation since his 10-length romp at Sedgefield in late January and he could make light work of a 6lb rise. Five Dollar Fine also warrants respect.
TOMMY COMBATS couldn't live with a very progressive sort at Ayr last time but it was another solid effort from Martin Todhunter's 6-y-o and he can come good tackling largely much more exposed opponents this time. One who is relatively lightly raced, at least over fences, is Raffles Wonder and he's second choice ahead of recent Sedgefield scorer Fearless Action.
The drop back in trip and return to Carlisle could both be positives for FIVE DOLLAR FINE, who goes well fresh, and he gets the nod.

1st (6) ![]() Dr Eggman |
3/1(-71%) | (6) Dr Eggman 3/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 11/10, creditable second of 21 in maiden at Punchestown (19.1f, soft) on reappearance 31 days ago. Sets the form standard. Bumper winner; smart maiden hurdle form to his name; only found one too good on return. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Good N' Kind |
2/1(-23%) | (8) Good N' Kind 2/1, Point winner. 7/4, shaped well when second of 9 in bumper at Gowran last March. Off since but looks the type who could make up for lost time. Point winner; 2nd to Port Joulain in bumper; may need this but player if fit. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) ![]() Promontory |
16/1(+0%) | (13) Promontory 16/1, Promising type. Fourth of 15 in novice hurdle at Naas (18.5f, good to soft, 50/1) on NH debut 43 days ago. May well do better. Stuck to the task okay when fourth of 15 in a Naas maiden hurdle; tough ask here though. |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Champagne Kid |
9/4(+18%) | (5) Champagne Kid 9/4, Winner in bumper at Listowel in September. Fairly useful form when placed on 3 off 4 starts in maiden hurdles since. Likely to be on the premises again Bumper winner and getting better with each hurdle run; closely matched with Dr Eggman. |

10th (16) ![]() Tennesse Boy |
150/1(+25%) | (16) Tennesse Boy 150/1, Twice-raced maiden. 250/1, eighth of 12 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) 29 days ago. Pulled up a long way out on debut and tailed off subsequently. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (14) ![]() Rilo Tang |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) ![]() Jerisk Star |
100/1(+0%) | (9) Jerisk Star 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 40/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, fifteenth of 18 in novice hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft) 21 days ago, pulling hard. 2nd in a bumper on debut; nothing in trio of maiden hurdle starts since. |

|PU| (7) ![]() Gold Gatewood |
150/1(+25%) | (7) Gold Gatewood 150/1, Gatewood gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 3m) Alpesh Amin. Gatewood gelding; dam half-sister to 2 hurdle winners but tough ask on debut. |

|PU| (12) ![]() Nukie's Artic |
150/1(+25%) | (12) Nukie's Artic 150/1, Once-raced maiden. 150/1, seventh of 12 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (16.7f, heavy) on NH debut 27 days ago. Tailed off 150-1 shot on debut last month and may need more time. |
GOOD N' KIND hasn't run for 379 days but had plenty ability in 2023/24 and should be ready for today's reappearance. An impressive point-to-point winner, he subsequently ran well in a heavy-ground Gowran bumper when finishing well clear of the other beaten horses. The winner of that race Port Joulain has recently scored over hurdles when, in turn, defeated today's runner Champagne Kid by 31 lengths in January. Admittedly Champagne Kid is better judged on more recent efforts but is nonetheless vulnerable to smart types. Dr Eggman holds Champagne Kid by a half-length on February form although he too is vulnerable to a promising prospect.
DR EGGMAN has let favourite backers down on a few occasions but is given one more chance on the back of a good reappearance second at Punchestown. Henry de Bromhead's Good N' Kind has been absent since finishing second in a bumper a year ago but might still be the one to give the selection most to do ahead of Champagne Kid.
Dr Eggman and Champagne Kid are closely matched but it may be worth chancing point winner CABARET PRINCE stepping up in trip

1st (1) ![]() Coconut Twist |
9/4(+36%) | (1) Coconut Twist 9/4, Landed a gamble back hurdling in 15-runner handicap at this course (21.6f) in January and has run creditably in defeat twice since, latest when third of 12 in handicap hurdle over C&D (good to soft) 16 days ago. Ought to go well again. Won here (near 2m6f, soft) in January; creditable 3rd both starts since, C&D (good) latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Special John |
6/5(+40%) | (3) Special John 6/5, Off mark in points at fourth attempt and posted best effort in this sphere when second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (24.3f, good to soft) 6 days ago. Races off same mark here and is one for shortlist. Front-running 2nd on Southwell handicap debut (3m, good to soft; favourite) six days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Miss Popalong |
12/1(+0%) | (6) Miss Popalong 12/1, Didn't show much in a bumper and novice hurdles last season, but in first-time hood she took a step forward on handicap debut when third at Fontwell (19.1f) in May. Disappointed at same course when last seen in October but could be suited by this longer trip. Needs to find more but she is stoutly bred, giving encouragement for this new trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Low Expectations |
16/1(+36%) | (4) Low Expectations 16/1, Yet to make an impact in 4 attempts over hurdles, including on handicap debut at Fontwell 17 days ago. Tries a longer trip now but remains hard to recommend. Beaten at least 22l in all four hurdles races, handicap debut at Fontwell (2m3f) latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Wearapinkribbon |
9/2(-29%) | (7) Wearapinkribbon 9/2, Ended losing run of more than 4 years when striking at Huntingdon (25f, good to soft) on yard debut 3 weeks ago. 4 lb higher now but must enter calculations. Won stable debut at Huntingdon (3m2f) when wearing a first-time visor after wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() The Questioner |
16/1(-78%) | (5) The Questioner 16/1, Hurdle/chaser winner who showed he retains ability, on his second run back after an absence, when third in Wetherby handicap hurdle in January. Not been in same form since, however, and is now tried in blinkers for first time. Off 444 days before this season, well below form; blinkers replace his usual cheekpieces. |
SPECIAL JOHN was a major improver for going up in trip when runner-up at Southwell last time out, and with further progress likely, Chris Down's charge can go one better on his fourth start in this sphere. A determined winner over further at Huntingdon on his first start for new connections, Wearapinkribbon is likely to have a say off 4lb higher, while the consistent Coconut Twist is another to note, having scored here in January.
SPECIAL JOHN was well supported when a good second at Southwell last week and remains low mileage. He makes plenty of appeal. Coconut Twist and Lightonthewing are feared most.
Coconut Twist should go well again but WEARAPINKRIBBON (nap) won at the first attempt for his new yard and may build on that.

Struggled upped in class thereafter but back on track with placed efforts in pair of juvenile maiden hurdles around the turn of the year. May have more to offer returned to this sphere. Failed to build on an early-season maiden win last year, has run well in juvenile hurdles. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Sara Valentina |
18/1(-13%) | (6) Sara Valentina 18/1, Lightly-raced winner. 11/1, thirteenth of 14 in handicap at this C&D in October, losing place around 2f out. Returns with yard amongst the winners and surprise where she not capable of better this season. Third to Facethepuckout over C&D last July, plenty to prove after her October C&D failure. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Heart Of Darkness |
40/1(-100%) | (11) Heart Of Darkness 40/1, Creditable third of 7 in handicap at Dundalk (7f, 28/1) 53 days ago, ridden when short of room over 1f out. Likely needs to pull out more if she's to open her account on turf here. Apparently unfancied (28-1) when third at Dundalk on her first try at 7f, definite chance. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Fast Tara |
33/1(-136%) | (5) Fast Tara 33/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 8/1, twelfth of 16 in handicap at Galway (7f, soft) in August. Changed yards ahead of return to action and worth noting she has gone well fresh previously. Not discounted. Won a 1m maiden at three for Johnny Murtagh, failed to score for Joseph O'Brien last year. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Love Billy Boy |
11/8(+45%) | (4) Love Billy Boy 11/8, First run since leaving Richard Hannon/off 6 months when good second of 12 in handicap at the Curragh (6f, soft, 5/1) 7 days ago, having to weave through and unlucky not to win. One to be interested in turned out quickly. Looked unlucky not to collect over 6f last Sunday on Irish debut, extra furlong will suit. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (2) ![]() En Or |
40/1(-471%) | (2) En Or 40/1, Versatile sort who tasted success twice on the Flat at up to 2m last year and best effort yet over hurdles when second in 17-runner Limerick maiden (2m) in December. This trip may well be on the sharp side however back from 85 days off. Useful dual-purpose type who stays 2m on the Flat, likely to find 7f inadequate. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) ![]() Facethepuckout |
14/1(+0%) | (10) Facethepuckout 14/1, Successful on seasonal return over C&D last July before a good third at Galway a week later. Mixed bag in 3 starts thereafter but record at this venue is a positive one, so he's not dismissed out of hand back from 5 months off. Out of form at the end of last season but commands respect as a dual C&D winner. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (15) ![]() Secret Magician |
14/1(+0%) | (15) Secret Magician 14/1, C&D winner back in August who wasn't disgraced when fifth of 17 in handicap (10/3) at the Curragh (6f, good) on final start later that month. No forlorn hope from this sort of mark back from 6 months off for all this is tougher than company he usually keeps. C&D winner last August, backed that up with two good 6f runs, would prefer better ground. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (12) ![]() Gerrit's Gem |
16/1(+11%) | (12) Gerrit's Gem 16/1, Two wins from 6 runs last year. Latest win at Cork in October. Bit below form fourth of 8 in handicap (6/1) at Leopardstown (8f, heavy). Off 154 days. Won twice at Cork last season including over this trip though handicap win was at 1m. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) ![]() Chicago Fireball |
16/1(-167%) | (1) Chicago Fireball 16/1, Dual 1m winner during first half last season and hard to knock his efforts in defeat thereafter, best effort yet when second of 16 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good to soft) in September. Respected on return to action. Two wins over 1m last year, ended season with a good second over this trip, 7lb claimed. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (7) ![]() Mercurial |
14/1(-40%) | (7) Mercurial 14/1, 12/1 and blinkered for 1st time, ended last season with a creditable third of 26 in handicap at the Curragh (7f, good to soft) in November, keeping on. Headgear left off for seasonal bow and this run may well bring him on. Modest strike rate (2-33) but has paid his way with 15 placed efforts, could go well. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (13) ![]() Una Matata |
125/1(-400%) | (13) Una Matata 125/1, Lightly-raced sort, off the mark at Fairyhouse (7f) in September. Hooded for 1st time, last of 8 in minor event at the Curragh (7f, good to soft, 22/1). Off 140 days. Others more persuasive. 7f Fairyhouse maiden winner on good ground, this may be softer than ideal for her. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (14) ![]() Storm Averted |
12/1(+14%) | (14) Storm Averted 12/1, Lightly-raced filly who shaped as if better for the run after 4 months off when sixth of 13 in maiden (12/1) at Dundalk (6f) 23 days ago. Likely to be sharper now and switch to handicaps in her favour. Betting can guide. Placed in three maidens last year, handicap debut with a run in a Dundalk under her belt. |
LOVE BILLY BOY just got going a touch too late at the Curragh last Sunday when finishing second to Laugh A Minute and may be able to go one better now. The Invincible Army gelding was well supported on his first start for Ger O'Leary and looks capable of striking now, stepping up a furlong. Money Dancer had a couple of good placed efforts over jumps, over the winter, and looks capable of being competitive off this mark back on the level. Dual course and distance winner Facethepuckout is on a competitive mark and could be each-way material.
LOVE BILLY BOY looked an unlucky loser starting out for present connections when just touched off at the Curragh last week and, with the step back up in trip in his favour, he can confirm the promise of that run and come out on top. Facethepuckout goes particularly well here and he's a threat with Chicago Fireball another to note. Fast Tara also commands a second look starting out for a new yard.
Ger O'Learys's recruit LOVE BILLY BOY looked unlucky in a 6f Curragh handicap last Sunday and is tipped to make amends.

1st (4) ![]() Red Happy |
5/1(+29%) | (4) Red Happy 5/1, Arrives on a hat-trick after wins at Musselburth and over C&D 14 days ago. Game sort who is a likely player despite a 3 lb weights rise. Two-time course winner who arrives on a hat-trick and is firmly in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Busty Boy |
10/1(-54%) | (5) Busty Boy 10/1, On a losing run but he posted his best effort of the season when second of 8 in handicap chase at Ayr (24.1f, heavy, 12/1) 27 days ago. Up 2 lb but he holds solid form claims. Often finishes second and beaten just a neck last time; may well be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Breakdance Kid |
14/1(-27%) | (2) Breakdance Kid 14/1, Resumed winning ways at Kelso in November but below his best of late, only fifth of 7 in handicap chase at Catterick (25.2f, good to soft, 10/1) 26 days ago. More is needed. Two wins earlier this season but didn't shine on his two outings last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() One More Stroke |
7/1(+22%) | (3) One More Stroke 7/1, Got off the mark over fences at Musselburgh in February and backed it up with a good third of 7 in handicap chase (7/1) at Catterick (25.2f, good to soft) 26 days ago. In the mix. Novice who has done well since upped to staying trips and is in with a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) ![]() Emotional Roller |
7/2(+53%) | (11) Emotional Roller 7/2, Gained his breakthrough win at Catterick in January and has continued in good nick, second of 8 in handicap chase at Wetherby (24.2f, heavy, 7/2) 25 days ago. Firmly in the picture with cheekpieces added. Runner-up to rejuvenated winner at Wetherby last time and may benefit from the cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) ![]() Uptown Harry |
11/1(-10%) | (12) Uptown Harry 11/1, C&D winner and got back on track in a change of headgear when fourth of 9 to Red Happy in handicap chase over C&D (good) 14 days ago. Ought to be in the shake-up. Two-time course winner but this 11yo needs to build on his recent form to win today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) ![]() Jamesieconn |
13/2(-8%) | (10) Jamesieconn 13/2, Made a successful start in this sphere at Doncaster in February but only fourth of 6 in handicap chase at Newcastle (23.4f, good) 8 days ago. Cheekpieces are reached for now. Won on chase/handicap debut last month; disappointing since but found to be coughing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Monochromix |
16/1(-60%) | (6) Monochromix 16/1, Still a maiden and he came in only fourth of 5 in handicap chase here (20.9f, good) 14 days ago. Needs to take a step forward. Disappointing here recently but ran well two starts ago; each-way shout if bouncing back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) ![]() Ribeye |
15/2(+53%) | (9) Ribeye 15/2, Back to winning ways at Musselburgh in December. 6/1, fell 7th in handicap chase at Catterick (25.2f, good to soft) 51 days ago. One to consider if none the worse for his latest mishap. 10yo who has run well on his last two completed starts and could be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (15) ![]() Euchan Falls |
33/1(+0%) | (15) Euchan Falls 33/1, Twenty runs since his last win in 2023 but he recorded a creditable second of 8 in handicap chase at Ayr (24.1f, heavy) 16 days ago. Very hard to make a case for from 13 lb out of the handicap however. Fair second at Ayr 16 days ago but tough task today from 13lb out of the handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (1) ![]() East Street |
16/1(-14%) | (1) East Street 16/1, Completed his hat-trick at Haydock in December and not disgraced when fourth of 7 in handicap chase (14/1) at Catterick (25.2f, good to soft) 26 days ago. Raced lazily there so needs considering with blinkers back on. Posted hat-trick in November/December but has struggled to get competitive on last 4 runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Harjo |
16/1(-14%) | (8) Harjo 16/1, Unreliable type who was pulled up in handicap chase at Newcastle (23.4f, good, 9/2) 20 days ago. Others appeal more. 25-1 win in January but lots of fences were omitted; pulled up at Newcastle since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) ![]() The Jad Factor |
22/1(+21%) | (13) The Jad Factor 22/1, Opened his account at the fifth attempt over fences at Newcastle (2½m) in January. Pulled up at Ayr following month though so has a bit to prove here. Won at Newcastle in January but pulled up at Ayr since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (16) ![]() Wotsmyname |
50/1(+24%) | (16) Wotsmyname 50/1, Remains a maiden after 21 runs though he came in a creditable fifth of 12 in handicap chase at Hexham (24.2f, good to soft) 10 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Uphill task at these weights though. Maiden who is a long way out of the handicap today and is hard to fancy. |
EMOTIONAL ROLLER lost little in defeat when bumping into a subsequent winner at Wetherby 25 days ago. The introduction of first-time cheekpieces could prove just the trick for the seven-year-old and a second career victory could be imminent. The biggest threat is the hat-trick seeking Red Happy, who boasts a recent C&D triumph, while Busty Boy and One More Stroke are other in-form chasers to consider.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and this could go the way of hat-trick seeking RED HAPPY who showed a really good attitude when scoring over C&D a fortnight ago. Busty Boy is feared most on the back of a resurgent Ayr second, although Emotional Roller, Catch Catchfire and One More Stroke also need factoring in.
The first-time cheekpieces are a possible plus for EMOTIONAL ROLLER (nap) and last month's second at Wetherby has been boosted.

(11) 15/2(-25%) | (11) Don't Talk 15/2, Bounced back to form when scoring at Down Royal (20.5f) in January and followed up, under 7 lb penalty, in 10-runner handicap chase at Fairyhouse (17.1f, soft, 4/1) 4 days later. Finds himself off career-high mark now but must enter calculations. Hat-trick seeker who is up another 7lb but return to further may help him improve again. |

1st (5) ![]() Linden Arden |
8/1(+33%) | (5) Linden Arden 8/1, Twelfth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Ballinrobe (22f, good, 5/1). Off 6 months. Switches from hurdles to chase. Worth a second look in the market on yard debut. Won beginners' at Ballinrobe last summer on chase debut; untapped potential over fences. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Sargent Lightfoot |
7/1(+65%) | (8) Sargent Lightfoot 7/1, Latest win in hurdle at Punchestown in June. 25/1, respectable seventh of 15 in handicap hurdle at Navan (16.2f, good to soft) 127 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Back up in trip. Others more persuasive. Promising over fences last summer; went close after break at start of season. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) ![]() Happy Dreams |
11/2(+73%) | (12) Happy Dreams 11/2, 3-time C&D winner. 12/1, seventh of 11 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, soft) 46 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Others preferred. Down the weights but losing run is mounting up and no signs of a return to form lately. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Aslukwoodhavit |
9/1(+10%) | (3) Aslukwoodhavit 9/1, Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. Fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Naas (16f, heavy, 13/2) 77 days ago. Up in trip. Others more convincing. Won novice chase at Punchestown last term; hasn't shown enough in 3 runs since. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Soloman Lane |
5/1(+38%) | (9) Soloman Lane 5/1, Arrives on back of creditable placed efforts, latest when good second of 12 in handicap chase at Gowran (20f, heavy) 36 days ago. 3 lb higher now but ought to go well again. Still progressing over fences and may have won without a late error at Gowran last month. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) ![]() Springt De La Mare |
2/1(-7%) | (1) Springt De La Mare 2/1, Promising type who scored at first time of asking over fences at Fairyhouse in January and improved on that when winning 6-runner novice chase (9/2) at Punchestown (16f, soft) 31 days ago, comfortably. Likely more to come on handicap debut. Hat-trick seeker who has every chance of defying this opening h'cap mark; up in trip. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() The Gradual Slope |
11/1(+45%) | (6) The Gradual Slope 11/1, 1 win from 3 runs this season. Possibly amiss when pulled up in handicap chase (22/1) at Galway (22.5f, soft), pulled up after fifth. Off 7 months. Needs a couple of these to falter. Won 4m h'cap chase at Punchestown Festival last year; this is likely a pipe opener. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() Good As Hell |
40/1(-60%) | (2) Good As Hell 40/1, Latest win in chase at Kilbeggan in September. Eighth of 11 in handicap chase at Listowel (17.7f, good, 25/1). Off 6 months. Others more appealing. Patchy form but won twice over fences earlier this season; likely to need this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) ![]() The Dara Man |
14/1(+13%) | (4) The Dara Man 14/1, Unreliable type. Course winner. 1 win from 2 runs this season. Pulled up in handicap chase at Naas (16f, heavy, 16/1) 77 days ago, pulled up before next. Back up in trip. Makes limited appeal. Defied absence to win in August but pulled up since and may not want rain. |
DON'T TALK will appreciate the softening ground and can complete a hat-trick of recent chase wins. His form can be in-and-out but in January ran two consistently good races to win at Down Royal and Fairyhouse. Although he has been raised a career-high rating of 110, he has been placed over hurdles when rated just 2lb lower and he looks to be a better chaser. Springt De La Mare should also appreciate conditions but has a huge weight, while Soloman Lane has been running well recently but climbs 3lb in the handicap.
SPRINGT DE LA MARE is going the right way over fences and looks fairly treated on his handicap bow. He can extend his winning run. Don't Talk and Soloman Lane can also make their presence felt.
Gavin Cromwell's team are flying and SPRINGT DE LA MARE looks capable of defying top weight on handicap bow stepping up in trip

1st (2) ![]() Blacksamssenorita |
1/4(+83%) | (2) Blacksamssenorita 1/4, Promise on first of 3 starts in bumpers and compiling a consistent record in this sphere, again displaying fair form when second of 12 in mares' novice at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) 17 days ago. Well up to playing a lead role on that evidence. Clear second of 12 behind a useful filly at Wincanton this month; commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() La Cantate |
7/1(+72%) | (6) La Cantate 7/1, No Risk At All filly who showed a bit more than on debut in a bumper, albeit never threatening when fifth of 11 in juvenile maiden hurdle at Hereford (16.2f) 39 days ago. Handicaps will be more her thing further down the line. Made fairy encouraging hurdle debut last month but needs to improve here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Kissininthebackrow |
5/1(+44%) | (3) Kissininthebackrow 5/1, Fair staying handicapper on the Flat who unable to replicate that level in 2 starts over hurdles during the autumn. Respectable effort on the level when last seen in December but handicaps/longer trips will be more her bag in this sphere moving forward. Dual 2m Flat winner in 2024 but has shown only minor promise over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Bellever Tor |
125/1(+50%) | (1) Bellever Tor 125/1, Cannock Chase mare who has offered little all 4 starts over hurdles to date. Well beaten at huge odds on all four starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Sweet Serene |
40/1(+39%) | (4) Sweet Serene 40/1, Best effort in bumpers (modest form) when fourth of 11 at Bangor last June and she looked badly in need of the experience on return when fourth in 6-runner Hereford maiden hurdle (19.7f) in November. Passed over starting out for new stable. Well-beaten 33-1 shot on hurdle debut in November and not seen again since. |
Runner-up on her last two starts, BLACKSAMSSENORITA deserves a change in luck and she can get that on this occasion, with the slight rise in distance expected to suit. Good ground should not inconvenience either, so the six-year-old gets the vote ahead of Youhadmeathello, who was a highly promising second on debut at Hereford last month. Kissininthebackrow is one that reverts from the level and may have a say in proceedings.
A winner on her second start in points, YOUHADMEATHELLO produced a promising first effort under Rules when second in a mares' maiden hurdle at Hereford 4 weeks ago. A well-related mare, she looks sure to improve for that initial experience and can make it second time lucky. That said, Blacksamssenorita is compiling a solid record herself over hurdles and shouldn't be dismissed lightly.
Irish point winner YOUHADMEATHELLO made a promising start to her rules career last month and gets the vote.

1st (4) ![]() East Hampton |
7/1(+56%) | (4) East Hampton 7/1, Winner of big-field maiden at the Curragh (6f) in October. Creditable fourth of 11 in minor event at Dundalk (6f) the following month, carrying his head awkwardly. Gelded ahead of return/handicap debut and interesting if the market spoke in his favour. Beat 20 rivals in a 6f Curragh maiden, extra furlong should be within his range. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) ![]() Wizard Of Odds |
15/2(+46%) | (8) Wizard Of Odds 15/2, Fairly useful 7f winner who didn't appear to relish the step up in trip when sixth of 11 in minor event at Dundalk (1m) in December, unable to sustain effort. Represents a stable amongst the winners and drop back to 7f rates a good move. Maiden winner over this trip, spoiled his chance with slow start at Dundalk on latest. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) ![]() Sir Jeremy |
33/1(-65%) | (10) Sir Jeremy 33/1, Successful on handicap debut at Down Royal (7f) in September. Not disgraced next 2 starts, not beaten at all far when ninth of 14 in nursery at Dundalk (7f, 17/2) on final outing in October. However, this looks tougher returning from 156 days off. Took a big rise in the ratings for a Down Royal nursery win, tough task off this mark. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Monotone |
20/1(+0%) | (6) Monotone 20/1, Lightly-raced winner. 50/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, 4¾ lengths last of 7 to Arizona Blaze in Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh (6f, good). Gelded since last seen 10 months ago and switch to handicaps rates more suitable now. 5f maiden winner last March did not appear again after finishing last in a Group 3 in May. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) ![]() Gloriously Glam |
14/1(-56%) | (9) Gloriously Glam 14/1, Improved for fitting of cheekpieces, winning Sligo nursery (5.7f, soft) and runner-up next 2 starts latterly in valuable sales' race at the Curragh. Appeared disadvantaged by track position on final start at Cork and she's another of interest now embarking on 3-y-o campaign. Below her best at Cork on final start, has sound credentials on the balance of form. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Manhattan Chute |
5/1(+17%) | (7) Manhattan Chute 5/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 13/2, good third of 14 in nursery at this course (5.9f, good to soft), running on having ended up closest to unfavoured inside. Feasible to think we've yet to see the best of him and considered on seasonal return, again partnered by Colin Keane. Five-race maiden but well worth considering on his Birdcatcher Nursery third at this venue. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Viking Invasion |
4/1(+60%) | (3) Viking Invasion 4/1, Lightly-raced winner. Career best when winning 10-runner maiden at Gowran (8.3f, heavy, 10/3) in October, responding well. Drops back in trip for return/handicap bow and he's not out of things. Emphatic maiden win was achieved over further, ground will suit, might prefer further. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() Serengeti |
4/1(-60%) | (2) Serengeti 4/1, Promising type who opened his account at the third attempt despite looking far from the finished article in 11-runner maiden at Dundalk (7f) in October, kept up to work. Looks sure to do better again now handicapping. Placed behind a subsequent Group 1-winning stablemate, AW maiden winner, respected. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) ![]() Kodilicious |
10/1(-11%) | (1) Kodilicious 10/1, Daughter of Kodi Bear who landed a Sligo maiden (5.7f) in August and better form in defeat thereafter, just touched off in 10-runner listed race at Newmarket (6f) in November. Unexposed at this sort of trip and she's one to consider on seasonal bow. Fifth in Birdcatcher Nursery here before going close in a Listed race at Newmarket. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) ![]() Tangapour |
5/1(+29%) | (5) Tangapour 5/1, Thrice-raced colt who made it third time lucky under a no nonsense ride when making all in 6-runner Killarney maiden (1m, heavy) in October. In good hands and likely he'll have more to offer now handicapping. Killarney maiden winner over 1m on heavy, could be vulnerable dropping back in trip. |
Aidan O'Brien has won this race with some smart sorts in the past, most notably with Paddington two years ago, and SERENGETI could be another potential Group horse in a handicap. The son of Wootton Bassett improved with racing last year and was still a touch green when scoring at Dundalk in late October. There could be plenty of improvement to come from him this year. Tangapour, another son of Wootton Bassett, finished last year with a good win in testing conditions at Killarney and is another likely to progress. Temperance ran well on her return in a Dundalk maiden and is another to consider.
This looks a really interesting early season 3-y-o handicap with the narrow vote in favour of MANHATTAN CHUTE. He had a few of these behind when a very good third in a competitive nursery over 6f here on his final outing in October and could well provide a spot of value for a yard amongst the winners. Ballydoyle representative Serengeti boasts a progressive profile and needs considering on handicap bow, as does Kodilicious. Gloriously Glam and Wizard of Odds also make each-way appeal.
Kate McGivern gave TEMPERANCE a recent run at Dundalk, a factor that may enable her to reverse nursery form with two of these rivals

1st (9) ![]() Hello Judge |
11/2(+27%) | (9) Hello Judge 11/2, Successful 3 times over the larger obstacles last season and back to form in a race he won last year when making all over C&D last month. Excuses next time and not taken lightly. Won over C&D last month; pulled up here since when good ground reportedly didn't suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Ganapathi |
16/1(-113%) | (5) Ganapathi 16/1, Losing run stretches back to June 2022 but went very close to ending that at Musselburgh 5 weeks ago, looked in control soon after last before headed on the line. 4 lb higher in better race now. Usual tongue strap left off. Short-headed at Musselburgh last month and the first and third have both won since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Yealand |
10/3(+17%) | (2) Yealand 10/3, Twice a winner over hurdles last season and made a successful chase debut at Doncaster (20.5f) in December. Showed a good attitude when resuming winning ways at Newcastle last month and walked over at Haydock on Wednesday. Remains of interest. Beat a progressive runner-up at Newcastle last month and a 3lb rise could prove lenient. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) ![]() Sean Og |
9/2(+40%) | (11) Sean Og 9/2, Successful twice over fences at Cartmel (21f) last summer and looked as good as ever back from a break when scoring at Catterick last month. Respected up 5 lb. Returned from break with a win at Catterick last month and this stiff 2m4f should be fine. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() High Moon |
11/2(+35%) | (7) High Moon 11/2, Mixed record for the last 2 seasons but was in the process of running well in this headgear when falling 4 out at Wetherby last month. Considered off the same mark. Poor strike-rate over fences but bang there when falling four out at Wetherby last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Artic Row |
12/1(-20%) | (6) Artic Row 12/1, Successful 3 times at Ayr last season. Failed to complete first 2 starts this autumn but back on track when placed at Newcastle/Ayr. Easy to forgive next run so not taken lightly. His four wins have come at Ayr but he's capable of running well elsewhere; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) ![]() Half Shot |
14/1(-75%) | (3) Half Shot 14/1, Perked up by application of blinkers as he capitalised on reduced mark at Kelso in September. Backed that up with good second at Wetherby and shaped as if still in form when third at Musselburgh on New Year's Day. Respected. 11yo who showed some good form in the autumn but hasn't been at his best the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) ![]() Whoshotthesheriff |
12/1(+0%) | (12) Whoshotthesheriff 12/1, Useful chaser in his prime. Lost his way for Phil Kirby though some promise for this yard, including over C&D last time (in process of running well in tongue strap when falling 2 out). Has work to do from out of the handicap here, however. 11yo who is on a long losing run, but was challenging when falling two out over C&D latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (8) ![]() Indian Louis |
5/1(+23%) | (8) Indian Louis 5/1, Better chaser than hurdler and back on track when doubling his tally over fences at Perth (21f, soft) in September. Good second next 2 of 3 starts, 7½ lengths second of 11 to Hello Judge in handicap chase at this C&D latest. Bit more needed to resume winning ways. Runner-up over C&D on two of his last three starts and can produce another bold show. |
YEALAND, who was the beneficiary of a walkover at Haydock on Wednesday, has a good chance of completing a hat-trick if he posts a similar display to the one that saw him justify favouritism off 3lb lower at Newcastle last month. Ganapathi and Half Shot have reasonable claims based on their peak form. However, a bigger danger might be the versatile Sean Og, who had plenty in hand when winning over 3m1f at Catterick latest.
Not the strongest of class 2s and improving novice YEALAND looks the way to go. High Moon remains of interest off his current mark so is next best ahead of the veteran Half Shot, who shaped much better than the bare result at Musselburgh on New Year's Day.
Having come clear with a fellow improver when winning at Newcastle last month, YEALAND still looks well treated now 3lb higher.

1st (6) ![]() Fun Fun Fun |
7/4(+65%) | (6) Fun Fun Fun 7/4, Useful chaser. 1 win from 3 runs this season. 16 lengths fourth of 5 to Only By Night in listed chase (6/4) at Exeter (17.5f, soft) 42 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Worth another chance. Classy mare who looked good on her chasing debut and there were excuses last time. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Harry Des Ongrais |
5/2(-11%) | (1) Harry Des Ongrais 5/2, Promising sort. Career best when winning 11-runner novice chase at Gowran (20f, heavy, 8/1) 36 days ago, driven out. Up in trip. Merits serious consideration. Always been useful and won easily at Gowran on second chase start; jumped well. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Lonesome Boatman |
50/1(+0%) | (2) Lonesome Boatman 50/1, Fairly useful chaser. Bit below form fourth of 13 in hunter chase at Gowran (25f, heavy, 17/2) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Multiple point winner but unlikely to making his rules breakthrough in this company. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) ![]() Monbeg Park |
2/1(-67%) | (3) Monbeg Park 2/1, Smart chaser. 4/1, career best when winning 13-runner handicap chase at Leopardstown (21.5f, good to soft) 21 days ago, staying on strongly. Has best chance on form. Probably career-best form in winning a 2m5f Listed handicap at Leopardstown. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) ![]() Shannon Royale |
8/1(+27%) | (4) Shannon Royale 8/1, Useful chaser. Latest win in chase at Punchestown in December. Sixth of 9 in handicap chase at Navan (20.4f, heavy, 6/1) 22 days ago. Back up in trip. Had made a solid start over fences but on a recovery mission after last two efforts. |
Softening ground is a concern for in-form MONBEG PARK but he might still win. Placed in the Leopardstown Chase in February before landing a Listed chase at that course earlier this month, the selection's best form is on a sound surface but did manage a bumper success on soft to heavy. He has done most of his racing over middle-distances but was Graded-placed over hurdles at this trip. Fun Fun Fun is suited by soft and she won nicely on her chase debut, before being well held at Exeter. Shannon Royale is noted too.
HARRY DES ONGRAIS confirmed chase debut promise when scoring at Gowran last month and this unexposed sort can find the required improvement to beat Monbeg Park, who looked better than ever when winning a handicap at Leopardstown 3 weeks ago.
This trip could be the making of Fun Fun Fun but the same is true for HARRY DES ONGRAIS (nap) who looks a natural over fences.

1st (3) ![]() Yes Day |
10/3(+0%) | (3) Yes Day 10/3, Point/hurdles winner who benefitted from a more patient ride when comfortably off the mark in this sphere at Hereford 2 weeks ago. Remains unexposed and big shout if seeing out the longer trip. Unraced beyond the 3m1f over which he won easily at Hereford (good) two weeks ago; up 5lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Planned Paradise |
2/1(+82%) | (5) Planned Paradise 2/1, Perth winner in July and resumed winning ways at Windsor, looking suited by the return to a marathon trip (jumped better than usual). Seemingly no excuses when 4½ lengths fourth of 8 to Art Decco over C&D since but ground won't be as testing this time. Heavy ground over C&D one month ago may have been a little too much (respectable fourth). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Concetto |
5/2(+55%) | (6) Concetto 5/2, Has an awkward head carriage but won twice last term and best effort of current campaign when runner-up to a subsequent winner at Market Rasen 3 weeks ago under this rider. Not taken lightly. Stayed 3m4f when 2nd at Market Rasen on two of last three starts, latest under Ben Smith. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Musical Slave |
3/1(+25%) | (4) Musical Slave 3/1, Veteran who is not as good as he was but is handicapped accordingly and won at Fontwell in October. Has continued in good nick, resuming winning ways at Taunton 2 weeks ago. Player if this doesn't come too soon. Good or good to soft might be best for him these days and he's won two of last four starts. |
ART DECCO relished a greater emphasis on stamina when digging deep to land the spoils over C&D last month. A 2lb nudge up in the ratings looks more than fair and another bold bid looks assured. The biggest threat may emerge from Musical Slave, who bounced back to form when scoring at Taunton 13 days ago. Neo King and Yes Day are others to consider in their current fettle.
This looks competitive but YES DAY won in the style of an improving novice at Hereford 2 weeks ago so gets the nod. Art Decco and Neo King are closely matched having finished 1-2 over C&D last month and they head the dangers.
With much less to prove than some if it's good ground, CONCETTO and Musical Slave top the list.

1st (6) ![]() Sunchart |
6/1(+25%) | (6) Sunchart 6/1, Useful gelding. C&D winner. Suffered a poor run when 3¼ lengths seventh of 11 to Elizabeth Jane in listed race at Leopardstown (10f, heavy, 10/1) 154 days ago. Merits serious consideration. Tough 8yo, won this on heavy ground last season, forecast rain a plus, not out of this. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Enfranchise |
6/1(+76%) | (7) Enfranchise 6/1, Useful mare. Twenty fifth of 30 in handicap at the Curragh (16.8f, good to soft, 66/1). Off 175 days. Significantly down in trip. First run for yard after leaving John Joseph Hanlon. Talented mare on her day, has moved yards, likes testing ground, may need further. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Trustyourinstinct |
15/8(+38%) | (3) Trustyourinstinct 15/8, Smart gelding. Two wins from 4 runs last year. Off 4 months before a fading eighth of 10 in Group 2 Neom Turf Cup at King Abdulaziz (10.4f, good to firm) 29 days ago. Needs considering. Joint top rated at 109, won a Gr 3 over 1m4f last season, this trip fine, rain a worry. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Dallas Star |
3/1(+45%) | (1) Dallas Star 3/1, Useful colt. 7/4, career best when winning 5-runner minor event at Dundalk (10.7f) 23 days ago, driven out. Easy to look elsewhere in this higher grade though. Fit from the AW, forecast rain a plus, yard in fine form, leading claims. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) ![]() Uncanny |
9/1(+36%) | (10) Uncanny 9/1, Useful mare. Course winner. 13/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, thirteenth of 14 to Sparks Fly in listed race at Saint-Cloud (8f, heavy). Off 133 days. Should have more to offer. Won a 1m maiden here last season, handles heavy ground, a bit to find, could outrun odds. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) ![]() Dawn Rising |
40/1(-82%) | (2) Dawn Rising 40/1, Smart gelding. 8/1, 26¼ lengths sixth of 8 to Home By The Lee in Lismullen Hurdle at Navan (20.2f, good to soft) 127 days ago. Off 127 days. Significantly down in trip. Dual purpose, best Flat form over further than this, trip may be on the sharp side. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Star Harbour |
40/1(-233%) | (5) Star Harbour 40/1, Smart gelding. Visor on for 1st time in this code, below form fifth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, good, 11/4) 162 days ago. Off 162 days. Not taken lightly if shrugging off latest effort. 7-30 on the Flat, trip is fine, lacks a run, might just need this after a 162 day absence. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Bravais |
7/1(-100%) | (4) Bravais 7/1, Smart gelding. 14/1, 3 lengths third of 7 to Fantastic Moon in Prix Niel at Longchamp (11.9f, good), staying on well. Off 18 months. First run for yard after leaving Andre Fabre but can't be discounted. Solid form in pattern company for Andre Fabre when last seen in 2023, off 560 days, watch. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) ![]() Sea The Lady |
16/1(-78%) | (8) Sea The Lady 16/1, Useful mare. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 14¼ lengths ninth of 10 to Sioux Life in Premio Lydia Tesio at Rome (9.9f, soft). Off 147 days. First run for yard after leaving Christopher Head. No forlorn hope. French recruit, stable debut, trip fine but may not want it too testing, best watched. |
DALLAS STAR has the benefit of a run under his belt and this looks like a nice early season target for him. The Cloth Of Stars colt appears to be versatile ground-wise having won the Ballysax Stakes in testing conditions last term and scoring at Dundalk recently. He is still unexposed having previously been out of action since finishing down the field in last year's Derby. Sunchart won this last year and it's no surprise to see connections target the race again. Trustyourinstinct had a good Flat campaign last year, including a Group 3 win at Leopardstown, and looks like a leading contender. He was in action in Saudi Arabia last month so also comes here fit.
SUNCHART has won off a break and didn't enjoy the rub of the green when seventh at Leopardstown last time out so is taken to return in style in this open listed contest. Uncanny has winning form at the track and could emerge as the main danger ahead of Bravais who has the form to play a big part if fully tuned up for his new yard after a long absence. Trustyourinstinct completes the shortlist.
Adrian Murray's horses are in good form and DALLAS STAR, a shock winner of the Ballysax on heavy last season, could be the one to be on

![]() Cloudy Glen |
(2) 11/1(-22%) | (2) Cloudy Glen 11/1, Goes well fresh and scored for the first time since 2021 when winning veterans' handicap at Haydock (25.6f) in December. However, he's run below form all 4 starts since, fitting of cheekpieces failing to spark a revival back at that venue 22 days ago. Mark is easing at least. Won on reappearance at Haydock in December but below best on his four starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (3) ![]() Credo |
11/8(+31%) | (3) Credo 11/8, Useful handicapper at best and, with visor applied for first try in veterans' company, returned to winning ways at Exeter (24.2f) last month, jumping/travelling well. Respectable fourth from 7 lb higher mark at Newbury (26f) 3 weeks ago and she's respected as an in-form sort. Won at Exeter last month and solid fourth at Newbury since; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Dubai Days |
9/4(-20%) | (4) Dubai Days 9/4, Course winner who ended last term in top form and picked up where he left off after 11 months off when taking 6-runner veterans' handicap at Haydock (19.9f) 5 weeks ago, showing a good attitude in the process. Not had many goes at this trip and respected up 3 lb. Defied an absence at Haydock last month and well worth another go at this sort of trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Does He Know |
11/4(-10%) | (1) Does He Know 11/4, Smart chaser who took last season's Grimthorpe Chase in first-time cheekpieces at Doncaster and best effort since when fourth in 3m handicap back at that venue in December. Disappointed when pulled up behind Credo at Exeter last month but no great surprise to see him bounce back. Pulled up last time but in good heart previously and leading claims if back on song. |
DUBAI DAYS represents last year's winning yard and boasts the most convincing recent form with two wins from his last three starts. He could take full advantage of receiving weight all round, though this does represent a step up in class and it would be dangerous to underestimate Credo, who is a previous winner at this level. Does He Know and Cloudy Glen need to find more.
Having ended last season in fine fettle, DUBAI DAYS picked up where he left off and showed a willing attitude in the process when making a winning return to action at Haydock 5 weeks ago. He looks a sound player again for the stable that took this 12 months ago, despite some reservations about the trip. Credo and Does He Know rate next best.
Topweight DOES HE KNOW was uncharacteristically disappointing last time but holds strong claims on his form in late 2024.

6/1(-71%) | (6) Banprionsa 6/1, Fair winner at 21f over hurdles. 7/2, good third of 13 in novice chase at Clonmel (20.3f, soft) 38 days ago. Up in trip. Makes handicap chase debut. Should progress. Two solid runs in 2m4f chases and stepping up to 3m can benefit now handicapping. |

10/1(+0%) | (1) Invictus Machin 10/1, 28/1, respectable sixth of 12 in handicap chase at Gowran (20f, heavy) 36 days ago. Back up in trip. Probably true that he now needs further than the 2m4f he ran over last time. |

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (13) ![]() Made In The Woods |
4/1(+50%) | (13) Made In The Woods 4/1, C&D winner. One win from 26 NH runs. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. Good second of 15 in handicap chase at this course (22.8f, good to soft, 8/1) 10 days ago. Enters calculations. Sole win came in this race two years ago; very nearly went in again last time out. |

10/1(+17%) | (5) Toofareastiswest 10/1, 18/1, lame when pulled up in handicap chase at Leopardstown (28.3f, good to soft) 21 days ago, in contention approaching 2 out. Cheekpieces back on. Reportedly lame when pulling up last time and was placed in two chases before that. |

|PU| (12) ![]() Game And Glory |
10/1(+17%) | (12) Game And Glory 10/1, 40/1, creditable fourth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (24f, good to soft) 20 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Blinkers back on. Respectable efforts the last twice and given hurdle form she's feasibly handicapped. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) ![]() Sainte Dona |
13/2(-86%) | (4) Sainte Dona 13/2, Very good second of 8 in handicap chase at Punchestown (22f, soft, 7/1) 48 days ago, going with enthusiasm. Has good chance on form. Gave it a good go from the front in a 2m6f handicap chase at Punchestown. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Fairyhill Run |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Fairyhill Run 20/1, Course winner. Nineteen runs since last win in 2021. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, fourth of 7 in handicap chase at this course (22.8f, good to soft, 14/1) 10 days ago. Only recently returned from a long absence (fourth) and this is a quick turnaround. |
SAINTE DONA's form is in-and-out but returned to her best recently. Her two career wins were gained by 25 and 26 lengths respectively and a reproduction of that latest Punchestown effort would give her every chance, with softening ground very much in her favour. The handicapper has given Fairyhill Run a sporting chance by dropping her 5lb since her last run 10 days ago, when she appeared to tire late on. Rated 138 at her peak, she should improve from that recent effort and stays well, but would prefer better ground. Banprionsa's Clonmel form was boosted by the runner-up subsequently finishing second in the Dublin National.
SAINTE DONA was an excellent second under this rider at Punchestown last month and can go one better off the same mark back down in class. Emily In Paris and Made In The Woods both shaped as if their turn isn't far away last time so are feared most.
With most of these exposed the eyes are drawn towards BANPRIONSA who tackles her first handicap chase over a trip that should suit.

Having finished third on her last two outings over hurdles, chase debutant MINNIEMUM may prove tough to beat if taking to this discipline. The daughter of Telescope looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to get back on the scoresheet and she's preferred to Fortunefavorsdbold. Christian Williams' mare boasts plenty of experience in this sphere and she could prove dangerous if allowed an easy lead. Micronormous may chase the aforementioned pair home.
FORTUNEFAVORSDBOLD is worth forgiving his latest below-form third at Leicester when possibly finding the run coming too quickly and can gain a deserved first success of the season. Chasing--debutante Minniemum arrives in good nick over the smaller obstacles and could emerge as the chief threat to Christian Williams' mare ahead of Micronormous.
River Tyne is preferred among the three who have run over fences but the chase debutante MINNIEMUM needs a very close look.

8/1(+11%) | (12) Wannabe Royal 8/1, Twice-raced filly. 7/2, second of 13 in maiden at Dundalk (7f) 39 days ago, responding well. Open to progress and warrants respect on turf debut. Promise in two AW maidens, dam won a Gr 3 on soft ground, could improve for turf. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Bay Colony |
9/2(-35%) | (1) Bay Colony 9/2, Progressed steadily in a trio of starts last season, ending campaign with 5¾ lengths fifth of 8 to Dreamy in Flame of Tara Stakes at the Curragh (8f, good), not clear run. Likely contender. Top rated, failed to live up to price tag last year, could improve for softer ground. |

7th (10) ![]() Sharpen |
33/1(-175%) | (10) Sharpen 33/1, €200,000 yearling, Fastnet Rock filly. Dam, placed twice at 1m, half-sister to dual Blandford Stakes winner (stayed 1½m) Shamreen out of smart 8.5f-10.5f winner Shareen. Makes appeal on paper. Fastnet Rock filly, 200,000 euros yearling, looks stable second string on jockey bookings. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) ![]() Guarded |
9/1(-80%) | (4) Guarded 9/1, Made plenty of appeal on pedigree and offered something to work on when seventh of 13 in maiden at Leopardstown (7.1f, soft) on debut in October. In top hands and should have more to offer this term. Displayed signs of greenness on debut over 7f, this trip should suit, improvement likely. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) ![]() Guilty Pleasure |
22/1(-100%) | (5) Guilty Pleasure 22/1, Twice-raced filly. 12/1, fourth of 9 in maiden at Leopardstown (8f, soft). Off 155 days. One of likelier contenders. Beaten 3.5l at Leopardstown in October, seems to handle soft, each way claims. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) ![]() Northern Attitude |
200/1(+0%) | (7) Northern Attitude 200/1, Twice-raced filly. Twelfth of 13 in maiden (200/1) at Dundalk (7f). Off 144 days. Looks more one for handicaps down the line. Triple figure odds and well beaten both starts last October, one for handicaps. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) ![]() Lily Parr |
66/1(-164%) | (6) Lily Parr 66/1, Twice-raced filly. Twenty second of 27 in maiden (28/1) at the Curragh (8f, good to soft). Off 140 days. Hood on 1st time. Improvement required. Promise on heavy on debut at Gowran, not as good at the Curragh, now hooded, watch. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (13) ![]() Wingstar |
50/1(-150%) | (13) Wingstar 50/1, €16,000 yearling, Zoustar filly. Half-sister to 2-y-o 5f winner Beechwood Donna and 2-y-o 6f winner Keep Warm. Dam, 6f winner, sister to useful 2-y-o 5f-6f winner Baitha Alga. Stable in good form. 16,000 euros Zoustar filly, half-sister to two moderate winners, probably best watched. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) ![]() Woodlea |
400/1(-300%) | (14) Woodlea 400/1, Once-raced filly. 80/1, last of 20 in maiden at the Curragh (7f, soft) on debut 7 days ago, missing break. Best watched. Huge odds and never figured on debut at the Curragh, opposable. |
BAY COLONY had a couple of nice runs in stakes company last season and if running up to her mark of 89, she's the one to beat. The New Bay filly ran a solid race when fifth to Dreamy in a Group 3 at the Curragh on her final start last season. This softer ground is an unknown, though. Wannabe Royal has a recent run under belt at Dundalk when second to Spicy Margarita. She has a bit to find on ratings but fitness is a big plus at this time of year. The Ballydoyle filly Guarded was mid-division on her sole start last season and is the potential improver in the field.
BAY COLONY acquitted herself well in graded company last term and gets the nod in what should prove an informative maiden. Guarded and Wannabe Royal head the list of dangers.
The top rated BAY COLONY could improve plenty for testing conditions and she gets the nod.

1st (4) ![]() Powerofjet |
11/2(+31%) | (4) Powerofjet 11/2, Attracted support and ran better than on handicap debut when third at Sedgefield (19.8f, good to soft) on Boxing Day but followed that up with a disappointing effort when finishing down the field at Ayr (2m) the following month. Inconsistent but handicapper has given him a chance, if on a going day. Dropped out rather tamely last time but his Sedgefield run on Boxing Day was a good effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) ![]() Tread Softly Now |
14/1(+30%) | (5) Tread Softly Now 14/1, Showed much improved form in first-time cheekpieces when scoring decisively on handicap bow at Ayr (2m, soft) in January. However, she found things tougher off this mark in a stronger race next time. Drop back into a 0-100 handicap should help her cause. Comfortable winner on handicap debut but safely held since; tricky to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Follow Charlie |
4/1(+20%) | (2) Follow Charlie 4/1, Dual winner at Ayr over 20.5f and ran creditably over that C&D when third of 10 in a handicap hurdle (8/1) at Ayr (20.4f, heavy) 16 days ago, having dropped back to his latest winning mark. Fairly-handicapped and claims if in the same form over this sharper test. Inconsistent this season but was placed 16 days ago and remains on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) ![]() Simply Red |
5/1(-25%) | (1) Simply Red 5/1, All 4 career victories have come at Bangor for Donald McCain and having struggled on Flat/over hurdles for Mark Walford last year, ran best race for a while in an above average Catterick claimer earlier this month, having been well backed. Interesting if she can build on that. Arrested decline when third in a recent claimer but that form may not be reliable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Balranald |
10/1(-43%) | (8) Balranald 10/1, Landed a brace of 2m handicap wins in October, looking a strong stayer over this sort of trip. Held his form when hitting the frame in two subsequent starts and looks to have place claims again, although worth a market check following a 3-month absence. Fully exposed after 36 hurdle runs but ended 2024 in good form; could have a say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Marty Mcfly |
13/2(+28%) | (3) Marty Mcfly 13/2, Struck at second time of asking for Sandy Thomson in a Perth handicap in June but has been below-form over longer trips since, latest when well-held at Ayr (20.5f) in January. Has been given a break and isn't discounted down in distance only 2 lb above his latest winning mark. Has suffered some heavy defeats since win last spring; can't be supported with confidence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Mullins Cross |
22/1(-100%) | (9) Mullins Cross 22/1, Dual winner for John Joseph Halon, most recent in December 2023 but has struggled to replicate that form including on three starts for current yard, latest when disappointing over C&D 2 weeks ago. Bit to prove but one to keep an eye on in the betting now racing from a career-low handicap mark. Ran okay on second of three stable starts but well beaten here since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Palm Beach |
8/1(+50%) | (6) Palm Beach 8/1, Course winner is now 19 runs since his last win in 2022. Lost his way when posting a couple of disappointing efforts in September last year and fared no better on reappearance (racing from 9 lb out of the handicap) 2 weeks ago. Drops in grade but difficult to fancy. Runs this track well and is well handicapped, but far too inconsistent to rely upon. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (7) ![]() Trafalgar Square |
18/5(+28%) | (7) Trafalgar Square 18/5, Fair Flat maiden finished a creditable fourth of 8 in juvenile hurdle over C&D (good) in November but failed to reproduce that effort over same C&D when fitted with cheekpieces for handicap debut, well-held despite finished placed. No surprise to see him go well from 2 lb lower following a break. 0-6 over hurdles; not yet fully exposed but needs to learn to settle better. |
Follow Charlie is back on a winning mark and is noted given the drop in trip a possible source for improvement. Balranald is another to seriously consider, but it could be worth chancing that TRAFALGAR SQUARE can build on a handful of solid efforts since he switched codes and the four-year-old's younger/fresher legs could be a big advantage against these generally more exposed opponents.
Having been well backed when finishing a close third behind two class-droppers last time, SIMPLY RED can gain her first win for Brian Ellison in an ordinary looking 0-100 handicap. If ready to roll after a 4-month absence, Trafalgar Square has shown enough to suggest he's capable of winning a race of this nature, while Follow Charlie is respected following a creditable third over a longer trip earlier this month.
The tentative selection in this rather weak finale is POWEROFJET, who is of interest if judged on his penultimate run.

1st (7) ![]() Light Up The Dark |
6/5(+40%) | (7) Light Up The Dark 6/5, 2/1, won 9-runner bumper at Naas (16f, heavy) on NH debut 77 days ago by 7 lengths from Scarriff Bridge, staying on well. Probably the one to beat. Landed the odds in Naas bumper; front 2 pulled long way clear; should improve. |

2nd (4) ![]() Starting Fifteen |
9/2(+50%) | (4) Starting Fifteen 9/2, City Light gelding. Half-brother to 4 winners, including useful hurdler Burning Victory. Dam 5.5f/6f winner in France. 3rd (2) ![]() Eternal Echo |
14/1(-180%) | (2) Eternal Echo 14/1, Winner on Naas bumper debut in February. 3/1, length second of 9 to Oneinthewell in bumper at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Won bumper on debut before 1l defeat to Oneinthewell and better off at the weights here. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) ![]() Scarriff Bridge |
16/1(+0%) | (10) Scarriff Bridge 16/1, 7 lengths second of 9 to reopposing Light Up The Dark in bumper (28/1) at Naas (16f, heavy) on debut 77 days ago. 7l behind Light Up The Dark in Naas bumper and may find it tough to turn that form around. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) ![]() Thiscouldbetheone |
11/1(-57%) | (5) Thiscouldbetheone 11/1, €62,000 Court Cave gelding. Brother to smart hurdler City Island. Starts out at a high level but still worth noting in the betting. Likeable pedigree but points to him wanting a bit further. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Portetta |
20/1(+87%) | (9) Portetta 20/1, Le Havre filly. Half-sister to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Ziggle Pops. Dam 1¼m winner. Pedigree is more Flat than jumps and likely best watched on debut. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) ![]() Carrigmoorna Beech |
9/2(-125%) | (6) Carrigmoorna Beech 9/2, Promising individual. 7/4, won 6-runner bumper at Gowran (16f, heavy) on NH debut 59 days ago, forging clear. Should progress. Seemed to relish testing ground when landing Gowran bumper; not a deep race though. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Eastern Blue Bird |
200/1(-33%) | (1) Eastern Blue Bird 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. 15½ lengths seventh of 9 to Oneinthewell in bumper (50/1) at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft) 21 days ago. Didn't show anything on debut; better run latest but bit to find against previous winners. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Oneinthewell |
17/2(-21%) | (3) Oneinthewell 17/2, Won 9-runner bumper at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft, 9/4) on debut 21 days ago by a length from Eternal Echo, bit in hand. Interesting contender for last year's winning trainer/jockey combination. Did well to chase down Eternal Echo on debut; 7lb worse off now but likely to improve. |
THISCOULDBETHEONE makes plenty of appeal with Derek O'Connor being a notable booking in a hot Listed bumper. Six of the selection's siblings were winners including brother City Island, who landed the 2019 Ballymore Hurdle at Cheltenham for these connections. Form horses Oneinthewell and Eternal Echo are closely matched on recent Leopardstown form, while Light Up The Dark readily beat Scarriff Bridge into second to win at Naas. Carrigmoorna Beech won by 12 lengths at Gowran and is also respected.
Possibly best to narrow this down this listed bumper down to once-raced winners LIGHT UP THE DARK, Carrigmoorna Beech and Oneinthewell. J P McManus has purchased the first-named since her Naas defeat of the reopposing Scarriff Bridge and she can make it 2-2.
Joseph O'Brien has a cracking strike-rate in bumpers and his dominant Naas scorer, LIGHT UP THE DARK, looks worth chancing

![]() Caracara |
(2) 11/2(+66%) | (2) Caracara 11/2, Third in a Larkhill point bumper on debut 3 weeks ago. Claims if she can build on that. Some promise when third in a recent point bumper but improvement is needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (4) ![]() Amatchmadeinheaven |
7/4(-8%) | (4) Amatchmadeinheaven 7/4, Made a winning debut in a point bumper 3 weeks ago. Interesting runner. Made all to win good-ground Larkhill point bumper by 8l on debut three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Couer D'alene |
13/8(-9%) | (1) Couer D'alene 13/8, Struck at the third time of asking in maiden points last month. Likely to have a big say on Rules debut. Flat-bred 5yo; won soft-ground maiden point by 12l last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Lady Kloppenheim |
9/2(-35%) | (3) Lady Kloppenheim 9/2, Only midfield in a point bumper last spring but returned to easily land short odds in a 3-runner maiden point in November. Off again since. Easily beat two rivals in a maiden point in November; tricky to weigh up. |
Having made it fourth time lucky between the flags at Kingston Blount last month, Couer D'alene must enter calculations. However, fellow Rules debutant AMATCHMADEINHEAVEN was quite taking when scoring over 2m at Larkhill earlier this month and the son of Schiaparelli may have too much speed for these rivals. Badbury Rings winner Lady Kloppenheim is heading in the right direction and it will be interesting to see how she compares to her rivals in the market.
A race in which the betting will likely be informative. COUER D'ALENE was the comfortable winner of a Kingston Blount maiden point last month and gets the vote before market clues are known.
Preference is for AMATCHMADEINHEAVEN, who dominated a recent Larkhill point bumper from the front.

1st (5) ![]() Trinity College |
10/11(+27%) | (5) Trinity College 10/11, Superbly-bred colt who took a huge step forward in first-time blinkers when winning a Galway maiden (8.5f) in September. Acquitted himself well in better company on final 2 starts and looks the one to beat here, Top rated, placed in a Group 3 on soft over 1m1f, shorter trip fine, leading chance. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Acapulco Bay |
5/2(+9%) | (1) Acapulco Bay 5/2, Off the mark at second time of asking in 12-runner maiden at the Curragh (8f, good, 2/11) in August and looks a likely improver this season. Off the mark in second maiden at the Curragh, soft ground a query, chance if handles it. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Green Triangle |
16/1(-33%) | (3) Green Triangle 16/1, Fairly useful gelding. 12¼ lengths last of 4 to Green Impact in Champions Juvenile Stakes (15/2) at Leopardstown (8f, good), not running on. Off 6 months. Looks yard second string judged on jockey bookings. Maiden winner, ran well in a Listed, testing ground a query, a bit to find; gelded. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() One Smack Mac |
10/1(-43%) | (4) One Smack Mac 10/1, Maiden winner here in May and improved on that when good second in Fairyhouse listed race (6f) last September. Disappointed on softer ground at Leopardstown on final start but must enter calculations here. Won debut here over 6f on good, struggled sole start on soft, up in trip, others preferred. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() Dignam |
25/1(-150%) | (2) Dignam 25/1, Fairly useful colt. 7/2, fourteenth of 16 in minor event at this course (7f, good to soft). Off 161 days. Not out of things. Maiden winner at Tipperary, struggled upped in class since, soft ground an unknown, watch. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Diamond Exchange |
13/2(+46%) | (7) Diamond Exchange 13/2, Once-raced maiden. Sixth of 14 in minor event at the Curragh (7f, good to soft, 16/1) on debut, never nearer. Off 176 days. Potential improver. Midfield in the Goffs Millions on debut, needs to improve but that's possible. |
The regally-bred TRINITY COLLEGE should be able to make a winning return here. The son of Dubawi and dual Guineas winner Hermosa was runner-up in Group 3 company at Leopardstown when last seen in October and could be a classic contender if coming through this. The main danger is probably his stablemate Acapulco Bay. He's another Dubawi colt and was impressive when winning a Curragh maiden on his second outing in late August. Like the selection he holds several classic entries. One Smack Mac disappointed on his final start of last season but had shown a nice level of ability previously and may be capable of better.
TRINITY COLLEGE sets the standard on his juvenile form and can make a winning reappearance in the finale. One Smack Mac and Acapulco Bay may provide the chief threat.
Aidan O'Brien holds a strong hand here with TRINITY COLLEGE and Acapulco Bay with ready preference for the former.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
