(6) Treasured Company 4/1, Successful at Cartmel last summer and back on track when third of 10 in the C&D handicap won by Mister Smarty on Boxing Day. Shade disappointing at Market Rasen and Newcastle since (again behind Mister Smarty and also V Twelve in latter race) but will be a threat if he puts his best foot forward.
Only sixth the last twice but good third over C&D previously and not written off.

25
25/1(-150%)
(4) Bodygroove 25/1, Flat winner who made a positive start to hurdles career when touched off in a 17f Carlisle maiden last February. Poor efforts both starts since in this sphere but should come on for his reappearance spin at Sedgefield last month and mark for this handicap hurdle debut looks fair.
A return to form is needed but he's not discounted in his first handicap hurdle.

2nd (1) V Twelve (11/4 +0%)
V Twelve

2.75
11/4(+0%)
(1) V Twelve 11/4, Just 1 lb higher compared to when winning this under William Maggs last year and appears to have been prepped for a repeat bid, putting in a good shift back from a break when third of 11 at Newcastle (the same race he contested immediately prior to his 2024 success in this race). Rock-solid claims.
C&D winner who returned from break with fair third at Newcastle; could build on that run.
5

Mister Smarty

13/8(+35%)
(5) Mister Smarty 13/8, Improved when making a winning reappearance at Newcastle in December and duly followed up over this C&D on Boxing Day. Held form well since (placed in trio of handicaps at up to 20.3f, all at Newcastle) and no reason to think he won't be on the premises once again.
Has continued in good form since completing double with C&D win in December.

(7) Genies Girl 28/1, Some promise in bumpers but little to get excited about in trio of maiden/novice hurdles at up to 19.7f here and big step forward needed now pitched into a handicap.
Hasn't shown much but goes handicapping off basement mark; one to watch in the betting.

Kingoftheswingerz

4.5
9/2(-35%)
(3) Kingoftheswingerz 9/2, Good effort when runner-up on return at Ffos Las in November and, though not in the same form next time, he subsequently improved with a breakthrough success in first-time cheekpieces at Huntingdon (15.8f, good to soft). 3 lb nudge fair enough and the return to a more galloping track is a plus.
Off the mark at ninth attempt when wearing first-time cheekpieces at Huntingdon last month.
2
6th (2) Serious Ego (25/1 -39%)
Serious Ego

25
25/1(-39%)
(2) Serious Ego 25/1, Three-time winner last term but needs to get back on track having performed with little distinction in 2 appearances since returning from a break in October.
Won at Hexham last April but this 12yo was well beaten on his last two runs.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Placed on all three three starts since scoring over C&D in December off 8lb lower, MISTER SMARTY has been a model of consistency this season and this appeals as an ideal opportunity to regain the winning thread. A determined winner at Huntingdon last time out for which he has been raised 3lb, Kingoftheswingerz can have a say, while V Twelve is respected after finishing a decent third at Newcastle last month.

V TWELVE is taken to repeat his 2024 victory in this on the back of an encouraging effort at Newcastle where he finished around 7 lengths adrift of second-placed Mister Smarty but now meets that rival on 4 lb better terms and, moreover, he'll be sharper with that run under his belt (he was returning from a four-month break that day). To his credit, Mister Smarty is proving consistent and should give another good account, while Kingoftheswingerz could also have a part to play.

C&D winner MISTER SMARTY arrives in good form and earns the vote ahead of Kingoftheswingerz, who got off the mark last time.

(3) Land Girl's Luck 8/1, Placed both starts in point bumpers and repeated the feat in Newcastle bumper on Rules debut, despite swishing her tail under pressure. Only midfield when stepped up to 20.5f for Huntingdon hurdle debut last month but she should have more to offer in this sphere.

(2) Star Artist 9/2, Fair form when reaching the frame in both bumpers but made an underwhelming start to his hurdle career at Wincanton last month, fading after racing too freely.
Significant ability; jumping wasn't great on first attempt; plenty of room for improvement.

Devon Dude

0.2
1/5(+50%)
(1) Devon Dude 1/5, Bumper winner who ran his best race over hurdles when narrowly denied in 19f Taunton maiden last month. A reproduction of that form would likely be good enough here.
Back down in trip but he's easily the pick on form after close 2nd at Taunton (2m3f).
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content,

Having returned to form with a close-up second at Taunton last month, DEVON DUDE makes plenty of appeal in this small-field affair. Evan Williams' charge has been found a golden opportunity to open his account over timber and he can repel likely improver Star Artist. The six-year-old should have learned plenty from his sixth-placed hurdles bow at Wincanton 31 days ago and he's no forlorn hope. Land Girl's Luck may prove more competitive once entering handicaps.

This looks an excellent chance for DEVON DUDE to make it fifth time lucky over hurdles. Land Girl's Luck can give him most to think about.

The close call at Taunton suggests DEVON DUDE will be hard to beat. Star Artist is not written off on his second attempt hurdling.

9/4(-64%)
(1) Bois Guillbert 9/4, This three-time hurdles winner lost his way over the smaller obstacles during the winter but the switch to fences paid immediate dividends at Newcastle where he landed a small-field 16.3f handicap chase in good style. Major claims with this 7 lb higher mark unlikely to prove beyond his reach.
Won over chase debut at Newcastle and could have more to offer over fences.

Continues to tumble down weights but this 11yo is hard to fancy on this season's evidence.

(2) Geryville 9/1, Notched fourth success over fences (and second over this C&D) when accounting for 7 rivals on penultimate start in January. Never looked like repeating that at Carlisle but this mark wouldn't be beyond him if he were to produce something akin to his best.
Always behind at Carlisle last month but won over this C&D in January; could bounce back.

(3) Micks Jet 7/4, Bumper/hurdles winner who responded very well to first-time cheekpieces when opening chase account on heavy going over C&D in January. Placed in a couple of 3m handicaps since and will be a threat now back down in trip, provided that the drying ground doesn't count against her.
Easy win over C&D in January and has continued in good heart over 3m since; contender.
5

William Cody

3.333333
10/3(+44%)
(5) William Cody 10/3, Took advantage of a drop back in grade when successful at Huntingdon in November. Not at his best next 2 starts but took a step back in the right direction following an 8-week break when third of 9 at Southwell (20.4f, soft) last month and he's in with a shout with cheekpieces refitted.
Inconsistent but fair third at Southwell latest and could be thereabouts if he's on song.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

An impressive winner on his chase debut at Newcastle last month, BOIS GUILLBERT is likely to have plenty more improvement to come and he can follow up off a 7lb higher mark. Geryville was never travelling when well beaten over further at Carlisle last month, but he would have claims if bouncing back to the form of his success over this C&D on his penultimate outing. Micks Jet is another C&D winner who is likely to be suited by dropping back in trip.

BOIS GUILLBERT produced a pretty assured round of jumping on his chase debut at Newcastle and looks capable of defying a 7 lb higher mark. Cases can be made for all four of his rivals, though on recent evidence it's likely that Micks Jet and William Cody will emerge as the main dangers.

Topweight BOIS GUILLBERT created a good impression on his chase debut at Newcastle last month and can make it 2-2 over fences.

(2) J J Moon 1/14, Much improved when making third bumper start a winning one at Southwell in May. Easily best efforts over hurdles when just denied at Wincanton and Kempton last 2 starts. Should have no trouble beating his sole rival.
2nd on last two starts, vastly better form than anything shown by today's solitary rival.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content,

It's difficult to get away from the claims of J J MOON in this match and a breakthrough victory looms. Emma Lavelle's gelding supplemented his close-up second at Wincanton when filling the runner-up spot at Kempton last month and he's sure to be a heavy favourite. Dino Magic hasn't cut much ice on his two hurdle outings to date and the son of Doctor Dino is likely to be seen in a better light once receiving a handicap mark.

This should be a simple task for J J MOON, who is 38 lb superior to Dino Magic on Timeform ratings.

Nothing that Dino Magic has shown poses any threat to J J MOON judged on the latter's bumper win and last two starts over hurdles.

Rules debut; has shown ability in points but not enough to suggest she'll be winning this.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

A half-sister to useful stablemate You Wear It Well, AUDACIOUS ANNIE may not have shown much in two starts over hurdles, but stepping up in trip looks like a good move for the six-year-old. She won here on her bumper debut in November 2023 and she may have too much for Parisian Fashion, who improved from his first to second start when third over C&D last time out. Ciakat and Realta Liath can also enter calculations.

Bumper winner AUDACIOUS ANNIE stepped up on her hurdling debut form when third at Ayr in late January and, with that form working out well (winner went close in Grade 2 next time), she's fancied to make it third time lucky over hurdles, especially with the step up in trip promising to suit. Forcetoreckonwith landed an Irish point back in October and has to be of interest starting out over hurdles at an ordinary level, with Parisian Fashion and Realta Liath others to consider.

Course bumper winner AUDACIOUS ANNIE was a promising third in a warm maiden hurdle at Ayr in January and earns the vote.

(3) Le Ligerien 6/5, Took advantage of reduced mark when winning similar event at Lingfield in December, cruising clear. Potentially still on a good mark up 6 lb so looks the one to beat again.
December win on latest start is easily the pick of this season's chase form in this field.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

Stoner's Choice arrives on the back of a good second over hurdles at Kempton and he cannot be taken lightly reverting to chasing. However, LE LIGERIEN ran out a ready winner at Lingfield in December and, as a six-time winner over fences, Joe Tizzard's inmate rates the most solid proposition. Annsam is a capable sort on his day and the Black Sam Bellamy gelding is another to note dropping in class, despite today's 2m3f distance looking on the sharp side.

LE LIGERIEN won a similar event in good style at Lingfield in December so looks capable of defying a 6 lb rise. Stoner's Choice has proved he retains his ability over hurdles this season after a long absence so is feared most back chasing.

Only LE LIGERIEN and Stoner's Choice have achieved much this season and the latter is unraced over fences since 2022.

(2) Lunar Discovery 9/2, Dual bumper winner who also won a pair of novice hurdles last season. Has shown similar form over fences, finishing runner-up in small-field events at Ayr and Carlisle (20f) in recent weeks, and is worth a try at this longer trip.
Runner-up over 2m4f on first two chase starts and the return to 3m could be a good move.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content,

FELICIE DU MAQUIS built on her sixth-placed reappearance at Chepstow in early February when landing the spoils over hurdles at Ludlow later that month. A 4lb higher mark now back over fences could prove to be lenient for the lightly-raced veteran and a brace may be on the cards. Although Grand Albert's jumping was exposed by subsequent Cheltenham Festival hero Myretown when finishing third at Kelso 32 days ago, he's feared most, ahead of Kelce.

Quite a trappy-looking affair. KELCE has a progressive profile and did well under the circumstances when second at Ludlow on his most recent outing, having been badly hampered by loose horse, so he's an appealing candidate. Felicie du Maquis reverts to chasing following a recent win over hurdles and should be capable of better.

The lightly raced 6yo DE TELLERS FORTUNE can regain the winning thread for Nicky Henderson now back on better ground.

(3) Magical Escape 5/1, Won maiden/novice last 2 starts over hurdles. Resumed after a wind op with a promising second of 5 on chase bow here in October but has struggled since, his temperament now under suspicion after his last effort. Bit to prove back hurdling.
Backward steps on last three starts; going back hurdling could relight the flame.
LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

A winner at Taunton in December on good to soft ground, TINY TETLEY hasn't shown much since but he should appreciate a return to a sounder surface for his in-form connections. A mark of 114 still looks manageable and he is preferred to the capable Investment Manager and Cooleenymore, who won here over fences here last April and ran creditably when third over a shorter last time out.

An unconvincing bunch but at least COOLEENYMORE arrives on the back of a creditable effort. Dans le Vent is next best down in class.

This looks tricky but bottomweight COOLEENYMORE, back up in trip and with a recent run under her belt, may be the most solid option.

By no means disgraced when fourth of 12 off this 7 lb higher mark at Kelso last time and he's a live each-way candidate.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

The unexposed JUKEBOX FURY gained a breakthrough victory when denying a subsequent scorer at Doncaster last month. A 5lb rise in the rating may still underestimate the six-year-old's ability and this looks a good opportunity for him to double his tally. The biggest threat may emerge from last-time-out runner-up Skiffle Man, who is a potential improver now stepping up further in trip. Wearapinkribbon is also worth a second look at the foot of the weights.

As low-mileage 6-y-os from top yards, JUKEBOX FURY and Skiffle Man are naturally appealing, particularly given that they both arrive here on the back of improved efforts. The latter's handicap debut second over 20.5f at Southwell augurs well with regard to this new trip and he is not passed over lightly, but Jukebox Fury got the better of a next-time-out winner when opening his account upped to a similar trip to this at Doncaster and he is marginally preferred. Aazza makes some each-way appeal.

The step up to 3m can be the catalyst for a first win from the lightly raced 6yo SKIFFLE MAN (nap). Jukebox Fury is feared most.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

THE LONG POINT had Bredon Hill (third) 10 lengths behind when a highly-encouraging runner-up at Kempton last month, and he looks well capable of going one better on the slight rise in distance. A promising second over further at Catterick most recently, Night Duty is entitled to be thereabouts, along with C&D winner Striking A Pose, who has dropped to a mark 2lb lower than his last success which came at this venue.

THE LONG POINT made a good start to his handicap career when second at Kempton last month and can go one better now. Course maiden winner Saint Cyr De Pail was better than the result suggests at Warwick last time and is second choice ahead of Bredon Hill, who was a place behind the selection at Kempton, and Night Duty.

Striking A Pose could be dangerous on this return to Exeter but THE LONG POINT can build on his handicap-debut second at Kempton.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content,

Ballynoe Boy should have learned plenty from his debut second at Catterick in December, while White Riot displayed plenty of promise on his stable bow when runner-up at that same venue last month. However, THE MAD POET, a half-brother to useful dual-purpose performer Zalvados, possesses plenty of speed in his pedigree and the Dan Skelton-trained debutant could be worth taking a punt on.

The vote goes to BALLYNOE BOY, who showed more than enough on his debut at Catterick to suggest that there are races to be won with him. White Riot also found just one too good at Catterick starting out for this yard last month and he is feared most ahead of likely-looking newcomer The Mad Poet.

This could go to the newcomer THE MAD POET, whose top trainer Dan Skelton does very well in bumpers.

MANYANA BLUE has shown promise in finishing third on both starts to date and, stepped up in trip in a first-time hood today, she could put her experience to good use. That said, Frankel filly Victoria Harbour is related to a host of useful types and it would come as no surprise to see Karl Burke's charge go well on debut, while Opera Score makes plenty of appeal on paper too.

This can go to one of the newcomers, with VICTORIA HARBOUR narrowly preferred to Opera Score before betting clues.

The debutantes VICTORIA HARBOUR and Opera Score are particularly interesting in that order of preference.

FILANDERER has turned a corner of late, winning at Market Rasen in October before completing his double at Wincanton in January. This doesn't look the deepest of contests so, with the prospect of more to come, a further 5lb rise might not be enough to halt his winning streak. Sea Invasion's mark continues to fall and he must be of interest, especially with Chad Bament claiming 7lb aboard the gelding. Tactical Affair has few miles on the clock and he is another to consider.

The thriving FILANDERER is fancied to complete the hat-trick with all his rivals arriving with something to prove. Sea Invasion may emerge as the main threat off a sliding mark.

While a sudden about-turn can't be ruled out among the others, the most persuasive candidate from recent outings is FILANDERER (nap).

Apache Star has been knocking at the door recently and he'll undoubtedly be popular under Billy Loughnane, as he chases the all-weather jockeys' championship title. However, it might pay to side with REBEL STAR. The daughter of Intrinsic has shown ability in novice/maiden events and moves into handicaps from a workable mark of 54. The first-time visor could help and, being a half-sister to seven-time winner Angle Land, it would come as no surprise were she to progress now. Under Curfew heads the remainder.

APACHE STAR continues to shape well over this C&D and this looks a good opportunity for him to end his losing run. Under Curfew is next best.

With improvement plausible, handicap debutante REBEL STAR is preferred. Apache Star is second choice.

Just the two runners head to post and KNOCKMOYLAN could prove to be the strongest. The 10-year-old defied a 763-day absence to strike between the flags at Milborne St Andrew last month, when partnered by today's pilot William Biddick. With that run under his belt, he should go very close back under Rules, although Grove Ash won't go down without a fight.

An uninspiring match and recent point-winner KNOCKMOYLAN should have the measure of Grove Ash.

This looks the day on which KNOCKMOYLAN can get off the mark under rules, adding to his 4-7 tally in point-to-points.

Critical Aclaim bumped into an improver when filling the runner-up spot on her racecourse bow at Kempton recently and he should go close today, but the vote goes to AVIANO. Marco Botti's colt defeated an 82-rated rival over C&D on his debut, having been sent off as favourite, and a winner's penalty might not be enough to halt his progress. Newcastle scorer Aurora Majesty is also noted, while 38,000gns purchase The Hrse Horse warrants a market check.

CRITICAL ACLAIM shaped well when chasing home a subsequent handicap winner on his Kempton debut and might be able to take advantage of the weight he receives from debut winners Aviano and Aurora Majesty.

Solid CRITICAL ACLAIM is preferred in receipt of weight from Aurora Majesty and Aviano who both warrant respect nonetheless.

An eye-catcher on his return from a 192-day break when third over C&D last week, CANDY WARHOL may be winless through 23 starts, but this appeals as a perfect opportunity to finally get his head in front. Runner-up to a subsequent winner at Southwell last time out, Bold Suitor must be considered along with Till It Shines, who got off the mark in a classified stakes over C&D last Tuesday.

BOLD SUITOR is well drawn to attack towards the inside and can build on his promising reappearance second at Southwell. Last week's C&D scorer Ravenglass is second choice ahead of Tony Carroll's Voltaic.

Solid-looking BOLD SUITOR gets the verdict, ahead of Galileo Glass who may be helped by the cheekpieces.

Wind surgery looked to have a positive impact on SAM'S HOPE when runner-up over at Southwell last time out, and a 2lb rise should not inconvenience her too much as she looks to gain a first success since last March. Placed on each of his last four starts, Match Anthem is likely to be thereabouts again, while Dumfries continues to drop in the handicap. Pembrokeshire and Pessoa cannot be ruled out either.

MATCH ANTHEM has been shaping up well lately and is taken to notch a third career win. Sam's Hope was no match for a well-treated rival at Southwell on his most recent outing, but there's certainly no disgrace in that and she can go well once more, while Dumfries is capable fresh and also enters calculations.

Southwell runner-up SAM'S HOPE remains on a handy mark and is taken to go one better. Match Anthem is second choice.

This can go the way of MARINER, who saw off the reopposing Charlatan (second) by a head when scoring over C&D last month, and he reopposes that rival on 6lb better terms. Jennie Candlish's charge has the services of jockey George Wood to call upon again, and it may be that course specialist King Of Speed gives him the most to think about. I Can't Believe and Visibility are entitled to be thereabouts as well.

I CAN'T BELIEVE has improved since fitted with a visor, including a C&D win in January. Two good efforts have followed and he can regain the winning thread, perhaps at the chief expense of last month's C&D 1-2 Mariner and Charlatan. The selection's stablemate Claxton Bay and King of Speed are others to consider.

Reunited with Callum Shepherd, CHARLATAN gets the percentage call. Mariner ties in closely with the selection.

LTO Selection:hiden content, hiden content, hiden content, hiden content

A return to 5f was enough to thwart BANK ON KENT in his double bid here 10 days ago, but David Evans' charge won over 6f the time before and makes plenty of appeal now back up in distance. The son of Massaat races off an unchanged mark and this looks a good opportunity for him to regain the winning thread. The biggest danger may emerge from Rumba Bay, who arrives on the back of a solid third off this mark at Kempton. Causin A Commotion is the pick of the remainder.

This drop in trip could be a good move for FREAK ENCOUNTER, who faded close home after doing too much too soon in a 7f Kempton handicap last time. Rumba Bay, who was a couple of places ahead of the selection in that race, may also benefit from this drop back to 6f and she is feared most ahead of stablemate Bank On Kent and Due Respect.

She will probably be coming from off the pace and therefore need a bit of luck in running but RUMBA BAY gets the vote.

Having opened her account with ease in an apprentice handicap at Southwell three days ago, FOREST SPIRIT is sure to prove popular. Michael Bell's filly escapes a penalty for that breakthrough victory and she's likely to go close if coping with a quick turnaround. Starfighter has proved a model of consistency in recent months and a 1lb nudge up in the ratings is unlikely to prevent another bold bid, while Harry The Haggler should appreciate a return to his last winning trip.

FOREST SPIRIT was a wide-margin winner at Southwell on Saturday so has obvious claims turned out quickly off the same mark. Harry The Haggler and Starfighter look best of the others.

This is all about FOREST SPIRIT (nap), who escapes a penalty for Saturday's 5l win in an apprentice handicap at Southwell.
