1st (2) ![]() Honesty Policy |
4/9(+78%) | (2) Honesty Policy 4/9, Promising sort. 1 win from 2 runs this season. Won 14-runner novice hurdle at Navan (15.7f, heavy, 6/4) 21 days ago, staying on well. Open to improvement and he's a leading contender. Won by 8l at Navan, rated 132, the one to beat if handling the likely quicker ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Champagne Jury |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Champagne Jury 9/2, 8/1 and tongue strap on, won 12-runner bumper at Naas (18.7f, heavy) on NH debut 35 days ago, driven clear. Looked a nice prospect that day and he will be a danger to all if getting into a good rhythm with his jumping. Placed in a point, won a Naas bumper on Rules' debut, in good hands, can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Coral River |
13/2(+54%) | (5) Coral River 13/2, Fairly useful hurdler. Successful at Gowran in January. Very good third of 7 in novice hurdle (2/1) at Naas (18.5f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Looks vulnerable. Won a maiden at Gowran, beaten 4.25l in a Naas novice latest, drop back to 2m a plus. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Rockymountainbleu |
17/2(+23%) | (6) Rockymountainbleu 17/2, Thrice-raced winner over hurdles. 9/2, third of 4 in novice hurdle at Down Royal (17.2f, soft) 40 days ago. Shortlist material. 40-1 winner at Punchestown over 2m4f, has a chance on ratings but may want further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (1) ![]() One And Only |
66/1(-32%) | (1) One And Only 66/1, Fair hurdler. Successful at Cork in December. Good second of 14 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20.1f, heavy, 9/2) 6 days ago. Back down in trip and has a mountain to climb on these terms. In good form recently, rating has risen to 99, has to give weight to higher rated rivals. |
SOMMESKY added to a Limerick bumper win when successful in a 2m3f maiden hurdle also at Limerick over the Christmas period. The selection found Grade 1 company too hot behind Final Demand here last month, and confidence can be taken from the fact that the de Bromhead yard is in much better form now. Great Attitude landed a gamble on debut at Fairyhouse last weekend and has plenty of scope for improvement, while Gowran Park maiden winner Coral River is closely matched with that rival on a line through Kish Bank. Honesty Policy enters calculations on his decisive Navan maiden win, while Champagne Jury and Rockymountainbleu are others to consider in a competitive event.
Though he's the only one of these without hurdles experience to draw upon, CHAMPAGNE JURY has shown that he can negotiate obstacles having finished runner-up on his completed start between the flags. The 6-y-o did the job well in a Naas bumper on his Rules debut in January and is taken to follow up on this hurdling bow. Honesty Policy opened his account in good style at Navan three weeks ago and is feared most ahead of Rockymountainbleu.
HONESTY POLICY (nap) showed a nice attitude when winning at Navan and if he handles this quicker ground, he could be hard to beat

1st (1) ![]() Aviemore |
9/4(+0%) | (1) Aviemore 9/4, A fairly useful winner at 10f on flat and he got off the mark at the second attempt in 7-runner juvenile hurdle at Warwick (16f, soft) 22 days ago. Open to further improvement so he's very much one to consider. Fairly useful on Flat; about 8l behind Lavender Hill Mob at Warwick, before tidy win there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) ![]() Across Earth |
12/1(-20%) | (3) Across Earth 12/1, Fairly useful 14f flat winner for Marco Botti. Since changed hands for 70,000 gns so he's much respected on his yard/hurdling debut. Fairly useful 1m6f Flat winner despite being a free-going sort; left M Botti for 70,000gns. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Lavender Hill Mob |
10/11(+34%) | (2) Lavender Hill Mob 10/11, Fairly useful Flat performer who has shown similar form in this sphere, scoring at Warwick in January before a solid third in juvenile hurdle at Haydock (15.6f, good to soft) 15 days ago. Cheekpieces go back on. Holds good form claims. 8l ahead of Aviemore when winning at Warwick; put firmly in place in useful event latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Crown Of India |
18/1(-29%) | (4) Crown Of India 18/1, A fairly useful maiden on the Flat but yet to reach that level in two juvenile hurdles, again failed to settle when fourth of 8 at Market Rasen (16.6f, good to soft) 12 days ago. Could still do better. Well behind two of these at Warwick (pulled hard, clear lead) but closer at Market Rasen. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Under The Sun |
7/1(+30%) | (6) Under The Sun 7/1, Useful 10f performer on the Flat for Hugo Palmer and was given a considerate introduction to hurdling when third in a 7-runner Plumpton maiden last month. Entitled to come on for that and needs considering. Useful on Flat; third from off pace at Plumpton (2m, soft) on hurdle debut but well held. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Hello Sweety |
150/1(-50%) | (9) Hello Sweety 150/1, Placed on Flat in Poland first 3 starts but little impact for his current yard, tongue tied when a well-held fifth in Market Rasen juvenile hurdle last time. Needs to take a big step forward. Placed on Flat in Poland; raced freely when well beaten in three British hurdle races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) ![]() Abbey Law |
80/1(-344%) | (7) Abbey Law 80/1, Modest form in a pair of 1m Kempton maiden in the autumn for Amy Murphy. More is required now going hurdling for her new handler. Modest form in two Flat races and also withdrawn twice after giving trouble before start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) ![]() Ramaah |
250/1(-25%) | (5) Ramaah 250/1, Modest winner at 13f on Flat for Ismail Mohammed but still to match that form in 3 starts over hurdles, again finishing well held when fifth of 9 in maiden at Huntingdon 38 days ago. Modest 1m5f Flat winner; soundly beaten at triple-figure odds over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) ![]() Graecia |
16/1(-45%) | (8) Graecia 16/1, Fairly useful 7f winner on the Flat for John Butler. Changed hands for 18,000 gns and hinted at promise when a hard-pulling fourth of 11 on her hurdling bow in 2m Hereford juvenile last month. Can build on it. 7f win in October; hooded and held up when 4th on hurdle debut but settling was a problem. |
LAVENDER HILL MOB (first) was well in command when getting the better of Aviemore (third) over 2m at Warwick in January and, although the latter remains open to improvement, James Owen's charge gets the vote to confirm his superiority over that rival en route to victory once more. Under The Sun made a pleasing start to life over hurdles when third over 2m at Plumpton and is also noted.
James Owen's LAVENDER HILL MOB possesses much the best form on offer so is fancied to resume winning ways at the chief expense of the progressive Warwick scorer Aviemore. Under The Sun also has better days ahead of him and could also have a say.
Lavender Hill Mob comfortably accounted for AVIEMORE at Warwick in January but the latter improved markedly to win next time.

|U| (12) ![]() Net Boy |
8/1(+33%) | (12) Net Boy 8/1, Twice-raced maiden. 4/1, third of 6 in bumper at Wexford (16.4f, heavy) 125 days ago. Improvement needed now switched to hurdles. Hurdles debutant, showed promise in first bumper, needs to leave latest run well behind. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) ![]() Fortune The Brave |
11/2(-83%) | (4) Fortune The Brave 11/2, Twice-raced winner in bumpers. 16/1, won 15-runner bumper at Kilbeggan (20f, good to soft) 177 days ago, staying on well. Makes hurdles debut. High on the shortlist. Off since winning a 2m4f bumper 177 days ago, claims if fit, though drop to 2m a worry. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (10) ![]() Mooretown Lad |
200/1(-100%) | (10) Mooretown Lad 200/1, Fairly useful Flat winner. Twice-raced maiden over hurdles. 250/1, nineteenth of 20 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) 36 days ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (13) ![]() Pension Plan |
100/1(-52%) | (13) Pension Plan 100/1, Yeats gelding. Dam bumper winner. Probably best watched on debut. Yeats gelding out of a point/bumper winner, worth a market check on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Glyde Ranger |
80/1(-21%) | (5) Glyde Ranger 80/1, Fair Flat winner. Once-raced maiden over hurdles. 8/1, eighth of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (12f) 18 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Others preferred. Rated 64 on the Flat, midfield on sole hurdles start at Kilbeggan, will need more here. |
HARBOUR HIGHWAY is not the most consistent of performers but holds strong claims if producing his best. The point-to-point winner had Net Boy 13 lengths behind in fourth when landing a Navan bumper last year and was sent off a well-backed favourite when hampered at a crucial stage in the 25-runner Fairyhouse maiden hurdle won by Ballygunner Castle. Quint Major was also a bumper winner last year at Clonmel and having shown promise behind the selection's stablemate McLaurey in a Limerick maiden hurdle, was probably unsuited by heavy ground last time at Punchestown. Polemon has won three times on the Flat and showed promise in two hurdle starts.
FORTUNE THE BRAVE looked like a stayer in the making when winning a 2½m Kilbeggan bumper in September, which raises a question over the suitability of this drop back in trip now switched to hurdles. That said, if plenty of use is made of the 5-y-o he could prove hard to catch round here, in a race featuring a dearth of appealing candidates. Polemon is just about the pick of those with experience in this sphere, while point winner Cabaret Prince is also worth a second look.
The race-fit POLEMON will appreciate the drying ground and he ran creditably in a much stronger C&D maiden than this in December.

1st (3) ![]() Northern Poet |
5/1(+0%) | (3) Northern Poet 5/1, Recorded a hat-trick switched to fences in the second half of 2022/23. Lightly raced since but mark is fair and he was denied only by an improving sort at Plumpton on return. Too bad to be true there since so expected to bounce back. Runner-up twice in a row at Plumpton before scuppered by soft ground last time; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Siberian Star |
3/1(-100%) | (6) Siberian Star 3/1, Point winner who got off the mark at fourth time of asking for current yard when narrowly taking 6-runner handicap chase at Catterick in January. Very much caught the eye back over hurdles at Warwick 9 days ago and remains of interest back over fences. Won at Catterick in January and fair third over hurdles recently; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Dr Kananga |
7/2(+71%) | (5) Dr Kananga 7/2, None too reliable (prone to mistakes over fences) and well held at Lingfield last time after a decent return at Sandown. Headgear back on. Well handicapped but pulled up last time and his best form has come on soft or heavy going. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) ![]() Supervisor |
17/2(-353%) | (4) Supervisor 17/2, Twice a winner last season and returned with a solid performance when runner-up in 4-runner event at Warwick (3m, soft) in December. Let down by jumping both starts since but shaped as if still in form. May want softer ground and he's unseated the last twice, but is capable of having a say. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) ![]() The Newest One |
15/8(+69%) | (2) The Newest One 15/8, Made a winning return in 3m1f Cheltenham handicap chase in October but saw his run of good form come to an end when pulled up in Welsh National at Chepstow over Christmas. Fared no better in Edinburgh National at Musselburgh since but this represents a big drop in class. In good form in autumn; pulled up the last twice but these different conditions may help. |
SIBERIAN STAR made the frame over the smaller obstacles at Warwick last month and is an interesting contender back in this sphere, having won a chase off only 1lb lower over 3m1f at Catterick in January. Northern Poet is a player based on his second at Plumpton two starts ago, while The Newest One has unseated the last twice but he is a previous C&D winner and would be a big player if putting in a clear round.
SIBERIAN STAR has done well for current connections this winter and remains of interest back off his proper mark over fences after an eye-catching run over hurdles recently. Northern Poet looks the main threat, ahead of Supervisor.
The withdrawal of recent winner Champagnesuperover promotes NORTHERN POET to first choice, ahead of Supervisor.

1st (5) ![]() Nativehill |
4/11(+50%) | (5) Nativehill 4/11, Changed hands for £260,000 after winning between the flags and made a promising hurdling debut when second of 8 in novice at Newbury (20.5f, soft, 9/4) in December. Tongue strap on 1st time. The clear form pick. Promoted to second at Newbury and that gives him strong form claims in this company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Big Bert |
9/1(+36%) | (2) Big Bert 9/1, 13/2, only fifth of 6 in novice hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f, soft) on hurdles bow 34 days ago. In very good hands but need to take a big step forward. Today's conditions will be the driest he's encountered but he looks vulnerable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Tchoupinminzac |
16/1(-78%) | (6) Tchoupinminzac 16/1, Dual bumper winner but lightly raced over hurdles and off 21 months before a solid third of 8 in novice at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft) 36 days ago. Not ruled out if building on it. Dual bumper winner and 2nd over hurdles; had a long time off before weary third last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Apieceovfortune |
100/1(-52%) | (7) Apieceovfortune 100/1, 125/1, well-held fifth of 10 in novice hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f, heavy) on hurdles bow 18 days ago. Lots more is required. Beaten between 27l and 36l in two bumpers and a novice hurdle at Wetherby; lots to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) ![]() Dublin City |
66/1(-32%) | (3) Dublin City 66/1, €26,000 3-y-o, Walk In The Park gelding. Dam, runner-up sole start in bumpers, is closely related to fairly useful chaser (stayed 3m) Jimmil. Placed in a point so no forlorn hope on his hurdling bow. Not strong form when third in an Irish point; bought for £16,000 afterwards. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) ![]() Monty Bodkin |
4/1(-60%) | (4) Monty Bodkin 4/1, Improved when winning Doncaster bumper last February for Ben Pauling. Switched yards and shaped well sent hurdling after 9 months off when sixth at Carlisle (20f, good to soft) in November. Has had a wind op since and capable of better. Had wind op since underwhelming hurdling debut; bumper form was good. |
NATIVEHILL performed with credit on his Rules debut at Newbury in December and, with the promise of more to come sporting a tongue-tie for the first time, he can land the spoils. Monty Bodkin faded into sixth late on over 2m4f at Carlisle when last seen but he remains a promising sort and appeals as the main danger to the selection on his first start since undergoing wind surgery. Tchoupinminzac is also noteworthy.
Nicky Henderson's NATIVEHILL shaped well when runner-up on his hurdling bow at Newbury and this point winner can go one better here at the chief expense of Monty Bodkin who also brings a fair amount of potential on the back of a promising debut Carlisle sixth. Tchoupinminzac and Big Bert can fight it out for minor honours.
Add 199 yards. The chances are that this will concern NATIVEHILL and Monty Bodkin. The selection can improve on his Newbury run.

1st (7) ![]() Thedevilscoachman |
13/8(+0%) | (7) Thedevilscoachman 13/8, Smart hurdler. Eight wins from 20 NH runs. 15/8, creditable 4 lengths second of 7 to Maxxum in Boyne Hurdle at Navan (21.8f, heavy) 21 days ago. Solid claims. Solid efforts in Grade 2s the last twice, drying track and trip a worry but can't discount. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) ![]() Meet And Greet |
6/1(+20%) | (4) Meet And Greet 6/1, Useful hurdler. 1 win from 3 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Limerick in December. 19¾ lengths fifth of 7 to Maxxum in Boyne Hurdle (3/1) at Navan (21.8f, heavy) 21 days ago. Fair bit to find with Thedevilscoachman on that evidence. 2-14 over hurdles, has placed form in Gr 1 company at 3m, this trip may be too sharp. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() Aspire Tower |
11/4(+63%) | (3) Aspire Tower 11/4, Smart chaser. Course winner. 1 win from 3 runs this season. 66/1, bit below form ninth of 18 in handicap hurdle at this course (16f, good to soft) 28 days ago. Likely to find one or two too good on these terms. Dual Grade 2 winner in his pomp in 2020/21, poor efforts the last twice, could rebound. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Lord Erskine |
20/1(+60%) | (5) Lord Erskine 20/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Course winner. 40/1, below form eleventh of 18 in handicap hurdle at this course (16f, good to soft) 28 days ago. Opposable. Admirable veteran, has struggled on his last two starts, this looks a tough task. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Pied Piper |
10/3(-122%) | (6) Pied Piper 10/3, Very smart hurdler when on-song. 4/9, running below form when falling in the race won by won by Aspire Tower at Punchestown (18.4f, good) in October. Sets the standard based on peak form but he does now find himself with a bit to prove. Dual-purpose, entered at Cheltenham, entitled to win on ratings but he might need the run.. |

16/1(+36%) | (2) Anotherway 16/1, Useful hurdler. Fourteenth of 15 in handicap hurdle (10/1) at Listowel (16f, soft) 156 days ago. First run for yard after leaving W. P. Mullins. Vulnerable for win purposes. Maiden hurdle winner for Willie Mullins, has joined Tom Gibney, may need softer ground. |
THEDEVILSCOACHMAN gets a tentative vote in a race where there are question marks over most of the field. The Noel Meade-trained gelding is without a win in nearly two years but has shaped well on his latest two starts, although this drop in trip is a concern. He had Meet And Greet 16 lengths behind when runner-up to Maxxum in the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle at Navan last time, and is preferred to Aspire Tower who made a winning return at Punchestown in October but has been let down by his jumping on both outings since. Pied Piper is the pick on official ratings but hasn't been seen since taking a heavy fall in that aforementioned Punchestown race won by Aspire Tower.
The one with the most solid credentials based on recent form is THEDEVILSCOACHMAN, who has resumed with a couple of solid efforts in Grade 2 events at Gowran and Navan. He is taken to deservedly get his head back in front. Pied Piper would be a tough nut to crack if anywhere near his best but he was beating a retreat when falling at the final flight in the Punchestown race won by Aspire Tower in October and now has a point to prove.
A chance is taken on ASPIRE TOWER. He might be able to get an easy lead here and he won his last start over this trip at Punchestown

1st (1) ![]() Bob Bob Ricard |
9/4(+63%) | (1) Bob Bob Ricard 9/4, Improved for the switch to fences last summer, landing good-ground handicap chases at Ffos Las (16f) and Worcester (20f). Below that level since but is fairly treated if back to form after 105-day absence. Won first two chase starts last May/June and had excuses in the autumn the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Tommy Cullen |
1/1(-50%) | (2) Tommy Cullen 1/1, Sole victory over hurdles came here and opened account at sixth attempt in this sphere when taking 6-runner handicap over C&D (good) 11 days ago. 8 lb higher now but another bold bid looks assured. Has a good record here and won comfortably over C&D recently; strong claims up 8lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) ![]() An Bradan Feasa |
11/4(+50%) | (3) An Bradan Feasa 11/4, Fairly useful 2-time juvenile hurdle winner last season. Creditable couple of efforts to start this campaign but disappointed more recently and last month's switch to chasing at Plumpton failed to spark a revival. 5yo who has dropped down the weights but he was well beaten on chase debut three weeks ago. |
TOMMY CULLEN justified favouritism in comfortable style over track and trip last month and a 8lb rise could prove to be on the lenient side. The seven-year-old might only need to produce a repeat of that performance in order to go in again. Koenigsstern failed to follow up his success at Fontwell on Boxing Day when only fourth at Huntingdon last time, but he will be pinning his hopes on first-time cheekpieces to eke out more. Bob Bob Ricard can beat An Bradan Feasa home for third.
TOMMY CULLEN has conditions to suit and only had to be pushed out to score comfortably here last month. He can follow up. Bob Bob Ricard may give him most to think about.
Course specialist TOMMY CULLEN (nap) won in fine style over C&D recently and can follow up despite an 8lb rise.

1st (4) ![]() Groom De Cotte |
11/2(-83%) | (4) Groom De Cotte 11/2, Revived back hurdling for the first time for this yard when opening his account in a 3¼m Fontwell handicap in September. Good second back at that venue in December and potentially on a handy mark if carrying on the good work back in this discipline. His five runs in chases were poor but 1st and 2nd over hurdles on his latest two outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) ![]() Sir Rock |
7/1(+7%) | (2) Sir Rock 7/1, Made a winning chase bow at Plumpton last winter and followed up at Fontwell. Has failed to fire in 4 starts this season, however, again tried in different headgear when well backed last time. Dipped below last winning mark at least. Completed a double last winter but struggled badly this term; 4lb below last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) ![]() Pep Talking |
7/2(-75%) | (1) Pep Talking 7/2, Has improved since joining this yard, completing a double with another smooth display at Sedgefield. Found his run of good form coming to a halt ar Warwick 9 weeks ago but surely can't have been right (reportedly lost a shoe) and worth another chance. Pulled up last time in hat-trick bid; faces another new trip but is one to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) ![]() Ceejaybe |
15/2(+53%) | (6) Ceejaybe 15/2, Mixed record over hurdles but offered something to work on after 6 months off when fourth of 9 in handicap chase at Leicester on debut over fences 91 days ago. Has since had a wind op and not taken lightly in his bid for a maiden victory. 14-race maiden; chase debut latest, followed by another wind operation; stacks to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) ![]() Mackie Dee |
15/2(+32%) | (7) Mackie Dee 15/2, Now 16 runs since his last win in 2022 but he recorded a creditable fourth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Doncaster 11 days ago. Could make the frame back over fences. 13yo with no win since 2022; however, competitive over hurdles on three of last four races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) ![]() Dreamsundermyfeet |
11/4(+73%) | (8) Dreamsundermyfeet 11/4, Has become disappointing and easy enough to look elsewhere. Last won 2021; off four months but it sparks some interest that Sean Bowen takes the ride. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Flemen's Tipple |
11/1(-10%) | (5) Flemen's Tipple 11/1, Finally opened his account over C&D in May but just the one decent effort since. Could bounce back returned to this venue and back down in class. Headgear left off. Three wins last year, the last of them over C&D in May; this winter's form is problematic. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() My Bad Lucy |
50/1(-213%) | (3) My Bad Lucy 50/1, Improved sent chasing in 2022/23, winning twice at 3m. However, well held confined to just 2 starts last term and fared no better back from 7 months off at Warwick in November. 2022-23 season ended well but he's been right out of form for his only three starts since. |
Punters will need to be in a forgiving mood to side with PEP TALKING, but it might pay to do so. He impressed when scoring comfortably over 2m5f at Sedgefield in November and, with his stamina drawn out further, he can bounce back from a lacklustre effort at Warwick. Groom De Cotte shaped with plenty of credit when finishing a staying-on second (hurdles) over 2m6f at Fontwell last time out and, stepping up in trip reverting to the larger obstacles, he looks the main danger. Dreamsundermyfeet can also go well.
PEP TALKING's latest run at Warwick was too bad to be true so he is worth another chance having previously looked on the upgrade for this yard. Groom de Cotte has bounced back to form switched to hurdles/upped in trip of late and is off a lower mark in this sphere, while Ceejaybe offered something to work on over fences at Leicester.
Pep Talking and Groom De Cotte are considered but the vote goes to MACKIE DEE, in a race which lacks solid options.

17/2(-6%) | (12) Oakley 17/2, Eighth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (16.5f, good to soft, 3/1) 78 days ago. Good second at Thurles on penultimate start and reproduction of that form would give him a chance. Good effort at Thurles in November, run may have come too soon latest, capable of better. |

First run for yard after leaving Jamie Albert Sloan. Maiden, ran ok at Ayr off 7lb higher for former yard, tongue tied for stable debut, watch. |

10th (14) ![]() Smallcraftwarning |
25/1(+24%) | (14) Smallcraftwarning 25/1, 12/1, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft) 156 days ago, faring best of those ridden prominently. Looks competitive on form. Won off 88 at Thurles, narrowly denied off this mark at Tipperary, goes well fresh, chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) ![]() Swelltime |
66/1(-65%) | (6) Swelltime 66/1, Latest win in hurdle at Killarney in August. Eighteenth of 23 in handicap hurdle at this course (19.8f, good, 50/1) 64 days ago. Readily passed over. 3-26 over timber, won off 5lb higher in August, no impact off revised mark since. |

12th (15) ![]() Lispendense |
20/1(-25%) | (15) Lispendense 20/1, Tongue strap on for 1st time in this code, first run since leaving Denis W. Cullen when sixth of 7 in handicap (7/1) at Dundalk (16f) 18 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Bumper winner, placed on h'cap debut, cheekpieces on and ground to suit, check market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (18) ![]() Papa Barns |
9/1(+25%) | (18) Papa Barns 9/1, Unreliable individual. Remains a maiden after 20 NH runs. 15/8, fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Punchestown (19.4f, heavy) 49 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Long standing maiden, has run well over C&D, drying ground a plus, 4lb wrong, chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (5) ![]() Miss Maxfort |
12/1(-9%) | (5) Miss Maxfort 12/1, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Hooded for 1st time, bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Cork (16.9f, soft, 9/2) 44 days ago. Can make presence felt. Wexford maiden hurdle winner on soft, no impact in first two handicaps, revival needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (9) ![]() Baltinglass Hill |
50/1(-257%) | (9) Baltinglass Hill 50/1, Running below form when unseated rider in handicap chase at Thurles (16f, good, 17/2) 24 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Looks vulnerable for win purposes. Won off 10lb lower in June, unseated when beaten in chase latest, others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (10) ![]() Caulaincourt |
33/1(-32%) | (10) Caulaincourt 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden over hurdles. Fair winner at 12f on the Flat. 28/1, eleventh of 14 in handicap at Dundalk (16f). Off 12 months ahead of this handicap hurdle debut. Handicap debutant, no impact in maidens on soft-heavy, drying track a plus, check market. |
SAFFRONANDBLUE won twice on the Flat last spring including over an extended 1m2f at Sligo and any market support would be significant as he tackles handicap company for the first time over hurdles. The Martin Brassil-trained gelding hasn't been disgraced in three maiden outings and could be on a reasonable mark. Down Around has put together three solid efforts over 2m4f this winter notably winning at Thurles, although this step back in trip may not be in his favour. The Nagger Reidy opened his account over 2m2f at the Listowel Festival but hasn't added to that tally despite being well supported on all three outings since. Royal Time and Oakley are others to note.
Successful twice on the Flat last spring, SAFFRONANDBLUE may well leave his low-key maiden hurdle efforts behind now making his handicap debut in this sphere. He shades preference ahead of The Nagger Reidy, who left the impression that this drop to the minimum trip would be a good move when fifth over 2½m at Fairyhouse last month. The lightly-raced Miss Maxfort and Oakley are others with claims.
A chance is taken on PAPA BARNS. He's 4lb wrong but he is capable of winning one of these and the drying ground is a plus

4/1(+60%) | (4) Horsesomeharry 4/1, Fitted with cheekpieces and a different proposition on handicap debut/reappearance when successful at Carlisle (20f) in November. More miss than hit since, including here last time, but return to shorter trip may see him in a better light. Mixed form since he won on handicap debut in November but the drop back in trip could help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Fierce Warrior |
11/4(+58%) | (1) Fierce Warrior 11/4, Bumper/maiden hurdle winner last term but hasn't made the expected progress in handicaps so far this season. However, figures off a handy mark and this drop back in trip may well suit. Hasn't kicked on in handicaps but in top hands & could benefit from this drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() Sergeant Fury |
15/2(-15%) | (2) Sergeant Fury 15/2, Successful sole outing in points and showed plenty to work on in bumper at Wincanton and hurdles debut at Southwell. Progress rather stalled since, behind when unseating rider at Newbury latest, and opening handicap mark could have been kinder. Point winner who is back on a better surface for his handicap debut and he's respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) ![]() Eileen's Orders |
13/2(-18%) | (7) Eileen's Orders 13/2, Lightly-raced maiden who arrives on back of solid third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (20.4f, heavy) 60 days ago. Eased 1 lb since and warrants respect. Improvement needed on second handicap start but well bred and drops back down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Pottersjetamay |
9/1(+25%) | (8) Pottersjetamay 9/1, Showed ability in maiden/novice hurdles for Charlie Longsdon last spring and left his handicap/yard debut form well behind when finding just one too good at Southwell (20.4f) in December. Failed to build on that at Wetherby since, though, and is proving inconsistent. Made it 0-9 when soundly beaten at Wetherby but not discounted now back on better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Shantou Lucky |
33/1(-32%) | (9) Shantou Lucky 33/1, Winning hurdler/chaser in Ireland for Gavin Cromwell. Left previous form for present connections behind when scoring at Perth (20.2f) in September but hasn't made the frame in a handful of starts since. Won by 10l at Perth in September but unable to reproduce that form since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) ![]() Shan't Wait |
15/2(0%) | (5) Shan't Wait 15/2, Has hinted at promise all 3 starts at around 2m over hurdles, latest when fourth of 13 in novice (150/1) at Newbury (16.3f, good to soft) 46 days ago. Rates the type to benefit from this step up in trip, on switch to handicapping, and yard amongst the winners. Not obviously well treated but open to improvement now up in trip on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() Clondaw Fame |
8/1(-45%) | (6) Clondaw Fame 8/1, Finished fourth in 3 Irish points and has run with promise in a couple of hurdles starts this winter, latest when third of 11 in novice at Newcastle (16.9f, good to soft) 45 days ago. Should appreciate this longer trip and is worth monitoring in market on handicap debut. Fair efforts on both hurdle runs and bred to be suited by this longer trip on h'cap debut. |
Shuil Ceoil went in by a neck in this grade at Fontwell in January and he holds an obvious chance off a 6lb higher rating. However, the vote goes to EILEEN'S ORDERS, who finished third in a stronger event on her handicap debut at Southwell last time and was kindly dropped 1lb for that display. The five-year-old could have more to offer and can record her first career success. Of the remainder, Fierce Warrior makes the most appeal based on his third at this venue in December.
SHAN'T WAIT has been brought along gradually with handicaps in mind and is bred to appreciate this stiffer test of stamina. He makes fair appeal. Shuil Ceoil and Fierce Warrior are feared most.
The return to better ground could be ideal for point winner SERGEANT FURY on his handicap debut and he earns the vote.

Visor replaces cheekpieces now. Struggling to get competitive; left Helen Nelmes; given wind surgery; different headgear. |

2nd (1) ![]() Cluain Aodha |
11/4(-47%) | (1) Cluain Aodha 11/4, Capitalised on a reduced mark back hurdling when landing 10-runner handicap over C&D 24 days ago. Up 4 lb but he can make his presence felt again. Back to hurdling and a career-low mark when she made all in gutsy fashion over 3m1f here. |

3rd (3) ![]() Musique De Fee |
85/40(+53%) | (3) Musique De Fee 85/40, Arrives in good nick, fourth of 10 to Cluain Aodha in handicap hurdle over C&D 24 days ago. Needs considering with cheekpieces added. Never threatened Cluain Aodha when fourth over 3m here last time; first-time headgear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) ![]() Mister Barclay |
6/1(-118%) | (2) Mister Barclay 6/1, Likeable type who posted a very good second in 23f handicap hurdle at Exeter in January. Disappointed back chasing when fifth at Uttoxeter (3m) 22 days ago but he's the sort to bounce back and is handily weighted reverted to hurdles. No spark over fences last time but he's run well almost every time in handicap hurdles. |

5th (6) ![]() Tiny Tantrum |
11/1(+21%) | (6) Tiny Tantrum 11/1, Scored at Stratford in April, 2023, but lightly raced since and he beat only one in 2m4f Fakenham handicap hurdle in January. Others are preferred. Won April 2023 (2m7f, heavy); four races since and only once threatened to repeat the form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) ![]() Jassur Des Brosses |
7/1(-17%) | (4) Jassur Des Brosses 7/1, Modest maiden hurdler who made a creditable return from 5 months off when fourth of 9 at Huntingdon (2m3f) 24 days ago. No forlorn hope stepping up in trip. Twice 4th from last three starts; needs extra but this new trip could be an assistance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) ![]() Cherry Brave |
18/1(-80%) | (5) Cherry Brave 18/1, Irish point winner who failed to build on earlier promise when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, soft) 82 days ago. Worth another chance for top yard. Irish point win; did little as hurdler, pulled up at 14-1 for handicap debut (2m4f, soft). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Kalabana |
28/1(+15%) | (7) Kalabana 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden who came in just sixth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, heavy) 22 days ago. Not easy to make a case for. Never beaten less than 29l in his five starts over hurdles; 2m4f handicaps last two starts. |
This can go the way of CLUAIN AODHA, who bounced back to form with a comfortable success over C&D last time out, and a 4lb rise could prove lenient. Returning to the smaller obstacles seems like a good move for Mister Barclay, having finished second at Exeter in January, while Jassur Des Brosses performed with credit on his return from a 163-day break when fourth here last month.
MISTER BARCLAY wasn't at his best when fifth over fences at Uttoxeter last time out but this likeable sort can bounce back and capitalise on a lenient mark returned to the smaller obstacles. Recent C&D scorer Cluain Aodha rates the obvious threat, although in-form duo Musique de Fee and Jassur des Brosses need factoring in too.
She made all here last time and today's extra 253 yards (added to the advertised distance) can help CLUAIN AODHA (nap) to score again.

28/1(-75%) | (1) Desert Friend 28/1, Respectable seventh of 17 in handicap (16/1) at the Curragh (10f, soft). Switches from Flat to hurdles. Looks competitive on form. Absent since October and first hurdles run in nearly a year; on a fair mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) ![]() Kilda Kelle |
18/1(-13%) | (9) Kilda Kelle 18/1, Lightly-raced maiden under Rules. 33/1, good fifth of 13 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.4f, soft) 36 days ago. Back down in trip for this handicap hurdle debut and she may well improve. Not too much to take from maidens; market best guide on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Liberated Light |
16/1(-146%) | (4) Liberated Light 16/1, Winner in hurdle at Limerick in December. Respectable fourth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Cork (16.9f, soft, 7/2) 44 days ago. Enters calculations. Limerick winner never travelled at Cork; 9l to find with Crescent Moon on that run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) ![]() Burren Song |
40/1(-100%) | (6) Burren Song 40/1, Fifth of 7 in handicap (16/1) at Dundalk (16f). Switches from Flat to hurdles. 8/12 on last hurdle outing. Others make more appeal. Struggled so far in handicaps; probably wants better ground and hard to be confident in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (2) ![]() Jolie Jewel |
4/1(+56%) | (2) Jolie Jewel 4/1, Creditable sixth of 23 in handicap hurdle (9/1) at this course (19.8f, good) 64 days ago. Can make presence felt. Penultimate Navan third over 2m4f best run; back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) ![]() Peckham Springs |
40/1(+20%) | (8) Peckham Springs 40/1, Fifteen runs since last win in 2022. Unseated rider in handicap hurdle (50/1) at Down Royal (17.2f, soft) 40 days ago. Readily passed over. On a long losing run, unseating at first on Down Royal comeback in January; hard to fancy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (15) ![]() Gustavo Goodway |
18/1(-50%) | (15) Gustavo Goodway 18/1, 9/1, ninth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (20f, good to soft) 78 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time. Maiden's standout efforts have been on better ground; blinkers now tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (17) ![]() Tremaine |
25/1(-150%) | (17) Tremaine 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 7 in handicap (28/1) at Dundalk (10.7f) on IRE flat debut 18 days ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles and cheekpieces on 1st time. Open to improvement on handicap debut in this sphere. Flat winner; none too fluent in three attempts hurdling; headgear tried on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (14) ![]() Shashado |
150/1(-200%) | (14) Shashado 150/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixteenth of 17 in novice hurdle at Listowel (16f, soft, 125/1) 155 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. No show in maidens last year; unlikely to make an immediate impact in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (11) ![]() Arnacoeur |
50/1(-100%) | (11) Arnacoeur 50/1, Fifteenth of 16 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (16.2f, heavy, 100/1) 34 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Always behind on Punchestown comeback in January; seems best watched on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (10) ![]() Makfils |
12/1(+25%) | (10) Makfils 12/1, One win from 25 NH runs. 9/1, first run since leaving Peter Fahey when below form fifth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (16.4f, soft) 48 days ago. Entitled to come on from yard debut in January (amateur-ridden) and reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (7) ![]() Desert Haven |
50/1(-52%) | (7) Desert Haven 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Fairly useful winner at 7f on the Flat. Fourteenth of 17 in handicap hurdle (33/1) at Cork (16.3f, good to soft) 119 days ago. Heavy-ground Flat winner here last year; back from a break but has run well fresh. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17th (12) ![]() Great Realisation |
50/1(-25%) | (12) Great Realisation 50/1, Fourteenth of 19 in handicap hurdle (14/1) at Cheltenham (16.4f, good). Off over 2 years. Absent since down the field in 2m Cheltenham handicap back in November 2022; best watched. |
CRESCENT MOON was beaten almost 52 lengths on a recent run in a better race but had previously shown much stronger form and was an eye-catcher on handicap debut in January. The form of her Naas bumper runner-up effort last April reads very well and while never in contention at Gowran recently, remains well handicapped from 106. Today's ground and distance is also in her favour. Liberated Light finished behind the selection at Cork in January and is 4lb better off while Jolie Jewel is quirky but has been running well. Pralognan is a useful good-ground Flat performer but was well enough held at Down Royal.
The modest pace probably didn't help CRESCENT MOON when upped to 19.8f at Gowran recently and, better judged on her handicap debut second at Cork in January, she is well worth another chance back down in trip here. Tremaine could be about to take a step forward now pitched into a handicap debut in this sphere and he is one to note in the betting, while Liberated Light is also shortlisted.
Having bombed out last time over 2m4f it could pay to keep the faith with CRESCENT MOON now dropped back in trip

1st (3) ![]() Thank You Ma'am |
7/4(+7%) | (3) Thank You Ma'am 7/4, Deservedly opened his account in 3m Ascot handicap hurdle in December and backed it up with a very good third of 17 in similar event there 15 days ago when faring best of those ridden up with the pace. The form pick back in maiden company. In good form in handicaps at Ascot; also effective elsewhere and holds leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Minella Rescue |
11/4(+39%) | (1) Minella Rescue 11/4, Dual bumper winner who made it third time lucky over hurdles in 2¾m Stratford novice in May. Not discredited under a penalty after 6 nonths off when fourth of 8 at Bangor (23f) in November. Much respected after another break. Two-time bumper winner who scored over hurdles last May; improvement is needed today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Hauraki Gulf |
4/1(-14%) | (4) Hauraki Gulf 4/1, A fairly useful winning chaser but he remains a maiden after 11 runs in this sphere and was pulled up in handicap hurdle at Sandown (23.4f) 29 days ago. Needs to bounce back. 10yo who was pulled up last time but in hot race; a case can be made on his earlier form. |
SKI LODGE showed signs of promise on his hurdling bow in November, but he took a giant leap forward to win at Haydock the following month. Alan King's gelding should have plenty more to offer, especially at this trip, and he is fancied to double his tally under a penalty. Thank You Ma'am, who boasts an official rating of 127, has been holding his own in handicap company of late and is perhaps the main threat, although Hauraki Gulf should not be underestimated.
None of these can be ruled out but Georgina Nicholls' THANK YOU MA'AM arrives at the top of his game from handicaps so looks the way to go back in maiden company here. Haydock-scorer Ski Lodge has better days ahead of him and rates the main threat,with both Minella Rescue and Hauraki Gulf not discounted either.
Ski Lodge is respected but preference is for THANK YOU MA'AM, who has shown strong form in handicaps the last twice.

1st (4) ![]() Lounge Lizard |
5/1(+23%) | (4) Lounge Lizard 5/1, Signed off last term with success in this race off 2 lb higher and shaped well when third at Carlisle on return. Disappointed next 2 starts but no surprise if he bounced back in this. Won this last year so is too capable to be dismissed, but latest effort was a poor one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) ![]() Dibble Decker |
10/3(+17%) | (7) Dibble Decker 10/3, Added a third chase victory to his tally at Wincanton last season. Shaped quite well over hurdles at Ascot on return and built on that returned to fences when fifth at Ludlow last month, looking back in top form only for mistakes to eventually take their toll. Respected. First and second in last two runnings; made mistakes when not far away at Ludlow latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) ![]() El Rio |
5/4(+9%) | (2) El Rio 5/4, Much improved over fences this season, winning 3 of his 4 starts, including when making all at Kempton last month. Remains one to keep on the right side of. Hasn't stopped improving this season and particularly impressive at Kempton; 7lb rise fair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Riskintheground |
22/1(-100%) | (5) Riskintheground 22/1, Big improver with 4 handicap wins in the first half of the season but last 3 starts suggests he's gone off the boil, albeit out of his depth last time. Outclassed last time but current form is an issue and Harry Skelton looks elsewhere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) ![]() Hidden Heroics |
28/1(-211%) | (6) Hidden Heroics 28/1, Bounced back from a couple of lesser efforts when winning a 27.5f Stratford handicap in June but not seen since pulled up in Summer Cup later that month. Capable chaser but back from a break here and presumably rejected by Harry Skelton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) ![]() Sail Away |
7/2(+50%) | (3) Sail Away 7/2, Dual winner on good ground in 2022/23 and shaped well on several occasions in defeat last term. Little to shout about this campaign but at least took a step back in the right direction by virtue of getting to the finish for the first time in a while at Doncaster last time. Becoming well handicapped. Below par last time but previous run was encouraging and he's well handicapped. |
EL RIO has hardly put a foot wrong over fences this season and he was never for catching when going from the front over slightly further at Kempton last month. The eight-year-old looks well up to defying a 7lb rise and he should have too much for the class-dropping Sail Away, who has failed to complete on three of his last four outings. A determined winner of this contest last year, Lounge Lizard cannot be ruled out.
EL RIO is enjoying a fine campaign and there is no obvious reason to oppose him yet after his dominating win at Kempton last month. Lounge Lizard just got the better of Dibble Decker when 1-2 in this last year and both can go well again.
El Rio has a massive shout but with a contested lead on the cards this might pan out ideally for the well-treated SAIL AWAY.

1st (4) ![]() Monbeg Park |
4/1(+11%) | (4) Monbeg Park 4/1, Very good third of 16 in handicap chase (9/1) at this C&D (good to soft) 28 days ago. One to consider. Clear third over C&D at DRF entitles him to be on the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (11) ![]() Tyre Kicker |
6/1(+0%) | (11) Tyre Kicker 6/1, Course winner. 18/1, good second of 14 in handicap chase at Windsor (22.2f, good to soft) 44 days ago. Has good chance on form. Windsor second back up in grade here but only 1lb wrong and likely major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) ![]() Final Orders |
18/1(-13%) | (6) Final Orders 18/1, Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. 14/1, respectable sixth of 10 in handicap chase at Thurles (21.8f, good) 42 days ago. Plenty to find on form. Low-key efforts this term both here (2m1f) and at Thurles (2m6f); not an obvious one. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) ![]() Mars Harper |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Mars Harper 20/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 28/1, twelfth of 16 in handicap chase at this C&D (good to soft) 28 days ago. Not taken lightly. Well held here at Christmas and at DRF last month; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) ![]() James Du Berlais |
14/1(-17%) | (1) James Du Berlais 14/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2023. 11/1, eleventh of 16 in handicap chase at this C&D (good to soft) 28 days ago. One of 4 representing the Willie Mullins yard. Quite tame effort under top-weight over C&D at DRF last month; bit to prove at the moment. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (12) ![]() Union Park |
28/1(-12%) | (12) Union Park 28/1, 80/1, respectable sixth of 16 in handicap chase at this C&D (good to soft) 28 days ago. Looks vulnerable. Never involved but late inroads over C&D at DRF; 2lb wrong and fair bit to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Broomfield Bijou |
6/1(+25%) | (9) Broomfield Bijou 6/1, Very good 2¼ lengths second of 5 to Nara in Gr 2 chase (11/1) at Thurles (20.9f, good) 42 days ago. Major player. Surpassed herself in Grade 2 on latest; up 6lb for that but could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) ![]() Meetingofthewaters |
13/2(+24%) | (2) Meetingofthewaters 13/2, 2/1, below form thirteenth of 25 in handicap hurdle at this course (24.1f, good to soft) 29 days ago, not knocked about. Switches from hurdles to chase. Can make presence felt. Big improver last season chasing but two below-par runs this term raise questions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Adamantly Chosen |
9/2(+25%) | (3) Adamantly Chosen 9/2, 28/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, bit below form fifth of 16 in handicap chase at this C&D (good to soft) 28 days ago. On a workable mark and Paul Townend rides, so there is cause for optimism. Sign of return to form over C&D at DRF but more needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (13) ![]() Nas Na Riogh |
8/1(-14%) | (13) Nas Na Riogh 8/1, 14/1, seventh of 9 in novice chase at Down Royal (16.5f, good to soft) 40 days ago. Significantly back up in trip for this handicap chase debut and he's open to progress. Potential improver upped in trip here for handicap chase debut though is 3lb wrong. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) ![]() So Des Flos |
40/1(-21%) | (10) So Des Flos 40/1, Eighth of 12 in handicap chase (50/1) at Gowran (20f, heavy) 15 days ago. Needs to bounce back in a major way. Two disappointing runs this term; seemingly plenty to find. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) ![]() Law Ella |
10/1(-25%) | (7) Law Ella 10/1, 11/2, creditable third of 7 in handicap chase at Windsor (20.2f, good to soft) 44 days ago, suited by way race developed. Should make her presence felt. Solid level of form in defeat this term; trip/ground to suit and each-way claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) ![]() Ha D'or |
33/1(0%) | (5) Ha D'or 33/1, Eleventh of 14 in handicap chase (28/1) at this course (17f, good to soft) 29 days ago. Up in trip. Evidently not the stable No 1 and others make more appeal. Soundly beaten both runs this term after long absence in 2m1f handicaps; hard to fancy. |
NAS NA RIOGH is 3lb out of the handicap but nonetheless appears nicely treated on his handicap debut. Built for chasing and a former point-to-point winner, he showed useful hurdles form last season and is rated 129 in that sphere. He was well held in three chase outings to date but those latest two runs were over inadequate distances and he will benefit from reverting to this distance on suitably drying ground. Five of the runners from the recent course-and-distance chase reoppose, with best-placed third Monbeg Park holding obvious claims despite being in the handicapper's grip. Tyre Kicker ran well at Windsor in January and should also compete under a light weight.
Having returned to form when runner-up in a Grade 2 contest at Thurles, BROOMFIELD BIJOU could be the answer to this open-looking handicap. She may have most to fear from Tyre Kicker, who also got back on track when finding just one too good at Windsor in January. The admirably consistent Monbeg Park is also accorded respect, while Meetingofthewaters needs considering and Nas Na Riogh is a likely improver now venturing down the handicap route in this sphere.
On the back of a good third over C&D at the Dublin Racing Festival, MONBEG PARK gets the vote over Tyre Kicker

1st (2) ![]() Gentle Frank |
9/2(+68%) | (2) Gentle Frank 9/2, Lightly raced 9-y-o who was considerately handled when down the field both starts in handicap chases last season but showed little after 14 months off back over hurdles this term. Won novice hurdle here in March 2023 but it's been a long time since he ran well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Jac Jumper |
5/6(+63%) | (1) Jac Jumper 5/6, Hurdles winner in France who has been holding form well in defeat over fences this year, runner-up in this headgear at Hereford last time. Should be in the mix again back from a break. 0-9 in Britain but runner-up on three of his last five starts and can be bang there. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Another Mystery |
2/1(+50%) | (5) Another Mystery 2/1, Back to form when winning last 2 starts over hurdles (subsequently sold from Lucy Wadham 15,000 gns). First impact for this yard over fences when runner-up at Uttoxeter in May. Off since but James Bowen is a positive booking. Ran well last May when last seen and James Bowen is booked for his comeback; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) ![]() Scottsdale |
40/1(+39%) | (6) Scottsdale 40/1, Remains winless over fences and looks set for another struggle from out of the handicap. 12yo who is 0-20 over fences and runs from 8lb out of the handicap today; hard to fancy. |
Jac Jumper has been knocking at the door recently and the use of Ellis Collier's 5lb claim could play a vital role today, but preference is for ANOTHER MYSTERY. Sarah Humphrey's charge hasn't been seen since filling the runner-up spot at Uttoxeter in May, but the eight-year-old returns to action with conditions very much in his favour and it would come as no surprise were he to go close. Just Gino heads the remainder.
WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF was in the process of going close tried tongue tied until his suspect jumping intervened at Carlisle 2 weeks ago and is worth another chance eased in class. In-form pair Jac Jumper and Just Gino are feared most.
Topweight JAC JUMPER has been knocking at the door over fences for a while and is taken to get off the mark in this sphere.

1st (4) ![]() Benvoy |
11/1(-29%) | (4) Benvoy 11/1, Fair maiden on Flat in Ireland who left his hurdles debut well behind when third of 11 in juvenile at Wetherby (16f, soft) 65 days ago. Switches to handicaps now and may have more to offer. Needs a bit better on this handicap hurdle debut but should have potential in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) ![]() Out Out |
11/4(+80%) | (6) Out Out 11/4, Shaped well when runner-up in bumper at Warwick in October 2023 but hasn't run to same level in a handful of hurdle outings, including on handicap debut at Lingfield 30 days ago. 11l fourth of 11 on handicap debut at Lingfield (2m, heavy; 10-1) offered more hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (12) ![]() Postponed Legacy |
33/1(-32%) | (12) Postponed Legacy 33/1, Looks fairly limited on early evidence, pulling hard when fifth of 6 in juvenile hurdle at Fontwell (17.7f, good to firm, 16/1) 6 months ago. Hood is fitted for handicap debut but he makes minimal appeal from 3 lb out of the weights. Handicap debut should offer better prospects but he's 3lb out of the weights proper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) ![]() Zenato |
8/1(+0%) | (10) Zenato 8/1, Winner on Flat at Nottingham (1¼m) for Ed Dunlop in October and acquitted himself well in a couple of starts over timber for new stable since, latest when fourth in juvenile at Catterick (15.7f, good to soft) 30 days ago. Enters calculations on handicap bow. Wears first-time tongue strap. Settling is an issue; handicap hurdle debut and more to give as he gets the hang of it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) ![]() Rock On Tommy |
9/1(+18%) | (11) Rock On Tommy 9/1, Made the frame again when respectable fourth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (16.6f, good to soft) 26 days ago. Should give another good account but others appeal more for win purposes. Again stayed on when never dangerous over hurdles latest and he needs markedly better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) ![]() Cracker Star |
6/1(-33%) | (5) Cracker Star 6/1, Fairly useful Flat winner for Richard Hughes who posted his best effort in this sphere for current yard when fourth of 10 in juvenile (10/1) at Ludlow (15.8f, soft) 25 days ago, not knocked about. Should be more to come on handicap hurdle debut. Latest run was his best form in this sphere; needs a second look on handicap hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) ![]() Rukaana |
14/1(-115%) | (9) Rukaana 14/1, Fairly useful 1m scorer on Flat for Charles Hills last summer. Sold for 46,000 gns and some promise (modest form) in first 2 starts over hurdles for new yard at the end of last year. Struggled on heavy ground at Wetherby latest but looks nicely treated on switch to handicaps here. 7f/1m winner; should be more interesting on handicap hurdle debut if he has the stamina. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (1) ![]() Addosh |
17/2(-13%) | (1) Addosh 17/2, C&D winner back in 2022 and has run respectably over hurdles and on Flat in recent months. May be vulnerable to less exposed types here, however. Fairly consistent but no hurdles win since June 2022. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (8) ![]() Rockette |
14/1(+13%) | (8) Rockette 14/1, Well held in 2 bumpers but showed ability both starts over hurdles for Dan Skelton in May/June 2023. Back from 19 months off when creditable fifth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (19f, good to soft, 33/1) for new yard 41 days ago and is entitled to build on that. 5th of 16 at Warwick (2m3f) six weeks ago on her stable/handicap debut after a layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (2) ![]() Jim De Sarti |
7/2(+46%) | (2) Jim De Sarti 7/2, Bumper winner in France. Sold quite cheaply from Nicky Henderson yard after showing some promise on hurdle debut and turned in easily his best effort for current yard when second of 7 in handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (16.8f, soft) 35 days ago, clear of rest. Likely contender. 2nd of seven at Sedgefield (2m1f, soft) last time, with the front two drawing 17l clear. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) ![]() Abraaj |
33/1(-65%) | (3) Abraaj 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles who hasn't been firing of late on level. Something to prove back in this discipline. Not nearly so hot on last three Flat starts; hurdling for first time since September 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) ![]() Onnaroll |
80/1(-21%) | (13) Onnaroll 80/1, Remains a maiden after 23 runs NH starts and has failed to complete the last twice. 3 lb out of the handicap. Maiden; poor chance on this season's form; hooded for all 23 of his races but not today. |
Although a faller at the third last at Uttoxeter in late December, DICKENS looked likely to play a leading role in the finish. Alan King's charge had previously finished fifth at Chepstow, form which has worked out extremely well, and a breakthrough victory over hurdles could be on the cards. The biggest threat may emerge from Jim De Sarti, who arrives on the back of a close-up second at Sedgefield. Cracker Star is also noteworthy.
CRACKER STAR is in good hands and advanced his hurdles form again when fourth at Ludlow last month. He can make a successful switch to handicapping. Jim de Sarti and Dickens head the list of dangers.
There are far too many unexposed sorts for comfort but JIM DE SARTI appeals most on the recent handicap evidence.

|PU| (12) ![]() Weihnachts |
80/1(-142%) | (12) Weihnachts 80/1, 25/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Navan (23.8f, heavy) 21 days ago, beaten long way out. Risky proposition at present. Down Royal winner last term but recent form underwhelming. |
Dour stayer BRANDT is the pick stepping up in distance. Initially tried over shorter trips in the UK, his recent ratings climb has been mirrored by him going up in distance and while beaten by One Horse Army at Fairyhouse last month, raced quite prominently then and is now 5lb better off. Progressive One Horse Army also stays very well and should again compete. Brucejack was beaten by a subsequent winner at Punchestown and had previously shown form at this level, while the in-form Union Station is difficult to assess but is a fascinating runner stepping up a mile in distance.
BRANDT did well under the circumstances when ¾-length second to One Horse Army at Fairyhouse last time and, likely to relish this stamina test, Cian Collins' charge could be the one to deliver the goods this time. One Horse Army should be on the premises once again in his hat-trick bid, while Union Station is open to improvement now moving up in distance on his handicap debut in this sphere and Brucejack is another with appealing claims.
Preference is for BRUCEJACK, who is proven at the trip and whose recent Punchestown maiden second has been franked by the winner

Dam 11f winner. One to consider, especially if the market vibes are positive. 25,000euros 3yo; bred to be talented and no surprise to see a good run on debut. |

11th (9) ![]() Hay Macleod |
16/1(-113%) | (9) Hay Macleod 16/1, £60,000 3-y-o, Maxios gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler Hawk Stone. Dam unraced sister to useful hurdler (stayed 25f) Orbys Legend. Makes plenty of appeal on paper but market should prove a good guide with yard also having Blue Sky Dreaming in here. Half-brother to 2m hurdle winner; Blue Sky Dreaming could be yard's chief hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (11) ![]() Jeepster |
100/1(+0%) | (11) Jeepster 100/1, Once-raced maiden. 50/1, last of 12 in bumper at Huntingdon (15.8f, soft) on NH debut 24 days ago. Unruly beforehand and well beaten at 50-1 on last month's debut at Huntingdon. |
Danger Nap hit the woodwork on his racecourse bow before going on to run with credit in a Listed contest at Cheltenham on New Years' Day. Eased in class he merits the utmost respect along with Phineas Bunce, who shaped with clear promise at Wincanton in December. Eternity Rose represents a trainer who often does well in bumpers so a market check is advised while similar comments apply to At The Oche. However, a chance can be taken on Alan King's BLUE SKY DREAMING. The son of Blue Bresil, whose dam had success in bumpers, has an appealing pedigree and although his future ought to lay over obstacles, he might be up to the task today.
Little form to go on and Fergal O'Brien's Time Test gelding ETERNITY ROSE, who catches the eye on paper, is taken to go in at the first time of asking. Danger Nap is the only one of 3 with previous expeience and can also have a say, with Blue Sky Dreaming and At The Oche also worthy of consideration starting out for good yards.
This could go to PHINEAS BUNCE, who was a promising fourth on his debut at Wincanton and that form has been franked.

1st (13) ![]() Mydaddypaddy |
15/8(+53%) | (13) Mydaddypaddy 15/8, Walk In The Park gelding. Closely related to useful 1¼m winner Dillian. Dam 2m-3m hurdle/chase winner, also 1m-1¾m winner who stayed 2m on Flat. Yard's NH debutants always respected. Third foal out of a 1m-1m6f and 2m-3m hurdle/chase winner; in a top yard. |

2nd (12) ![]() Lirion |
17/2(+53%) | (12) Lirion 17/2, Voiladenuo gelding. Dam 2½m cross-country chase winner in France. Yard had a bumper winner last week and booking of Sean Bowen catches the eye. Newcomer for a trainer who is making a name for itself in bumpers this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) ![]() Castanea Breeze |
25/1(-108%) | (4) Castanea Breeze 25/1, Twice-raced maiden who left debut form behind when third of 9 in bumper at Wetherby (16f, soft) 29 days ago. This looks more competitive but he should give another good account. Probably has to improve on his run at Wetherby (soft) where he rallied into third. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) ![]() Duel Au Soleil |
12/1(+14%) | (5) Duel Au Soleil 12/1, €45,000 3-y-o, Ivanhowe gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners, including fair hurdler/chaser Demoiselle Kap. Worth monitoring in market on NH debut. Questionable what he achieved when a 4l third in his final Irish point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (11) ![]() Kind Intention |
14/1(-100%) | (11) Kind Intention 14/1, Offered plenty to work on when second of 16 in bumper at Doncaster (16.6f, good to soft, 25/1) on NH debut 37 days ago and must enter calculations. Had 14 behind when second at Doncaster and that was a positive start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) ![]() Hidden Target |
50/1(+0%) | (6) Hidden Target 50/1, £10,000 3-y-o, Sans Frontieres gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler Deploy The Getaway and fair hurdle winner/chaser Stellar Stream. Dam unraced. Likely a longer-term project. £10,000 3yo buy who's representing a yard that's had a bumper winner this season. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (14) ![]() River Glance |
125/1(+58%) | (14) River Glance 125/1, Passing Glance gelding. Dam 2½m hurdle winner, closely related to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 4m) Perfect Pirate. Bred for stiffer tests of stamina. Could be kicking off in a useful bumper and the yard is 0-11 in these races recent seasons. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) ![]() Senor Cortez |
66/1(-32%) | (15) Senor Cortez 66/1, Not disgraced when sixth of 9 in bumper (20/1) at Wetherby (16f, soft) on NH debut 29 days ago but this looks a much deeper contest. Not beaten far when sixth of nine at Wetherby (soft) but others have more going for them. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) ![]() Jefe Triunfo |
18/1(-13%) | (1) Jefe Triunfo 18/1, Made winning start in 4-runner bumper at Worcester (16f, good) on NH debut in May 2023. Not seen since, however, and has a penalty to carry on return here. Carries a penalty for winning a very modest four-runner race at Worcester in May 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) ![]() Lock Stock |
7/2(+0%) | (7) Lock Stock 7/2, Fifth sole outing in point bumpers (Apr 20) and has acquitted himself well in both starts for Ben Pauling, latest when second of 12 in bumper over C&D (soft, 10/3) 59 days ago. Another bold bid is on the cards. The horses he split here last time have been beaten since, but still strong form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) ![]() Mr Barrowclough |
28/1(-100%) | (2) Mr Barrowclough 28/1, Bred for jumps but well backed and he duly delivered on debut in a bumper at Doncaster in November 2022. Bit disappointing under a penalty 3 months later and off the track since, but he's in good hands. Promising in his first two races but has a penalty and has been absent two years. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (3) ![]() Bobajob |
7/2(+0%) | (3) Bobajob 7/2, Posted promising second of 6 in bumper at Newbury (16.3f, good to soft) on NH debut 115 days ago. Entitled to build on that and is one for shortlist. Came up short on good ground at Newbury in November but the winner could be very useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) ![]() Indigo Sky |
33/1(-83%) | (10) Indigo Sky 33/1, Blue Bresil mare. Sister to a winner, and half-sister to 4 winners, including useful hurdler/chaser Martello Sky and fair hurdler/useful chaser Brief Ambition. Market should prove best guide to claims on NH debut. Plenty to like about her on paper and the family has been prolific in these races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) ![]() Rock On Teddy |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Rock On Teddy 200/1, Once-raced maiden who offered little in bumper at Fakenham on NH debut 16 days ago. Trailed home last of the five runners at Fakenham when 33-1. |
Having filled the runner-up spot on both bumper outings to date, compensation could be heading in LOCK STOCK's direction. Ben Pauling's charge did little wrong when finding only a progressive rival too strong over C&D in January and he edges the vote over Bobajob. The son of Doyen finished second on his racecourse debut at Newbury in November and he's open to improvement, while market support for newcomer Mydaddypaddy would be interesting.
LOCK STOCK was only collared late on here last time and is taken to go one better in the finale. Bobajob should have learnt plenty from his encouraging Newbury debut and rates the chief threat, whilst Dan Skelton's Mydaddypaddy may be the pick of the newcomers.
Bobajob and Lock Stock are much respected with experience but Tom Weston's recent bumper form heightens interest in LIRION.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) ![]() Eternal Echo |
3/1(-20%) | (1) Eternal Echo 3/1, Hooded, won 4-runner bumper at Naas (15.7f, good to soft, 16/5) on NH debut 22 days ago. More needed here under a penalty. Won slowy-run Naas contest on recent debut; scope to progress and only stable runner here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) ![]() Four Wise Poets |
16/1(+36%) | (5) Four Wise Poets 16/1, €9,000 3-y-o, Poet's Word gelding. Dam unraced. Entitled to come on for the run. Unlikely one to make an immediate impact although jockey booking encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (9) ![]() Wigwammer |
11/1(+78%) | (9) Wigwammer 11/1, New Bay gelding. Closely related to very smart 7.5f-1¼m winner Marquisat and half-brother to 2 winners. Likely to be better for the experience. Flat-bred, market best guide on belated debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (8) ![]() Ullr |
66/1(+34%) | (8) Ullr 66/1, Snow Sky gelding. Dam unraced from family of Epsom Oaks winner Eswarah. Doesn't have the look of a first-time-out winner on paper. Debutant likely all the better for the experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) ![]() Quinta Brigada |
5/2(+88%) | (7) Quinta Brigada 5/2, €13,000 3-y-o, Vadamos gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Mercury Lane. Probably best watched on debut. Market best guide on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) ![]() Eastern Blue Bird |
50/1(+0%) | (4) Eastern Blue Bird 50/1, Once-raced maiden. 16/1, tailed-off last of 6 to Carrigmoorna Beech in bumper at Gowran (16f, heavy) on NH debut 38 days ago. Tailed off last of six on Gowran debut behind Carrigmoorna Beech. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (10) ![]() Mercurial Sea |
50/1(+50%) | (10) Mercurial Sea 50/1, Once-raced maiden. 125/1 and hooded, fell in juvenile hurdle at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) on NH debut 25 days ago. Makes bumpers debut. 125-1, faller on recent hurdles debut; switches to bumper here and best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) ![]() Chez Fred |
13/2(+70%) | (3) Chez Fred 13/2, Once-raced maiden. Pulled up in bumper at Naas (16f, heavy, 7/2) on NH debut 56 days ago. The testing conditons may have been against him there and he's worth another chance. Flopped when well-fancied on Naas debut; evidently held in some regard so folly to dismiss. |
ONEINTHEWELL has a fine pedigree and debuts for a yard which does very well in bumpers. The selection's dam was bumper-placed but, far more notably, is a half-sister to Altior, graded-placed Princess Leya and four other winners. His trainer has a good line with recent bumper form and it is encouraging that Oneinthewell makes his debut aged four under Patrick Mullins. There are no form lines tying together previous winners Eternal Echo and Carrigmoorna Beech and while both won slowly-run bumpers on debut, they showed nice ability and remain open to vast improvement.
It was hard not to be impressed by the way CARRIGMOORNA BEECH went about her business when making a winning debut at Gowran and she will prove hard to beat. Given Thomas Cooper's record in bumpers and with Patrick Mullins an eye-catching booking, Oneinthewell is one to be interested in, while Naas winner Eternal Echo is best of the rest.
CARRIGMOORNA BEECH achieved more at Gowran than Eternal Echo did in a slowly-run four-runner contest at Naas and gets the nod
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
