The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
TRANQUIL SEA has plenty of experience over hurdles and appears to have found a decent opportunity to open his account. The son of Teofilo was only beaten half-a-length by Eagles Reign at Punchestown and the winner went on to finish a highly creditable second at the Cheltenham Festival. He also filled the runner-up spot behind hotpot Angostura in a Gowran maiden earlier this month. Malbay Madness has earned a rating in the 80s following two wins on the Flat including at the Galway Festival last summer and was quite highly tried on his only hurdle start in a Listed race at Auteuil. Firebrand showed some promise on the Flat in France and wasn't disgraced on his hurdle debut at Fairyhouse while Shahbaz and Park That are others to consider.
TRANQUIL SEA sets the standard and gets the nod, although a strong market move for the Emmet Mullins-trained Malbay Madness back over hurdles would put a slightly different slant on things. John Nallen's Fairyhouse hurdle debut fourth Fireband may prove best of the remainder.
Slight preference is for TRANQUIL SEA after two runner-up efforts at Punchestown and Gowran and might just be good enough

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
It is probably best to put a line through the latest run by RATH GAUL BOY as he had a number of issues on veterinary examination post-race after being pulled up at Leopardstown earlier this month. The point-to-point and bumper winner previously beat all bar Enfranchise in a maiden hurdle at the Galway Festival and hopefully can put that latest disappointment behind him. Omniscient won twice on the Flat for Sir Mark Prescott to earn a rating in the mid 90s and is an interesting hurdle recruit for Gordon Elliott, while point-to-point winner Cobra Queen has shown some promise over hurdles including behind Jade De Grugy at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting.
The fact that RATH GAUL BOY is turned out again 27 days after what was ultimately a disappointing reappearance display at Leopardstown suggests that all is well, and he will prove a tough nut to crack if able to put that run behind him and build on his very promising hurdles debut second at Galway last summer. Four-time Flat winner En Or rates the main danger, though Omniscient, who scored twice on the level in 2022, will also be a threat if his jumping passes the test.
More than one possible explanation emerged after RATH GAUL BOY flopped at Leopardstown and he can probably make amends here

Raised 7lb for a comfortable victory on the turf at Doncaster last week, DESTINADO is turned out again quickly over a track and trip where he was successful just last month. The six-year-old could have more improvement to come and he is narrowly preferred to recent C&D runner-up Optik and Mickey Mongoose, who must prove himself over this trip having sprung a surprise over a mile here last time out. Others to note include Defence Treaty, Hashtagmetoo and Loom Large.
STEPS IN THE SAND shaped well here on Tuesday and could come good now. Doncaster-winner Destinado and Loom Large are a couple of the other likely players.
There's a competitive look to this race but, going from strength to strength for his new trainer this year, DESTINADO may score again.

|PU| (6) (12/1 -33%) Privilege |
12/1(-33%) | (6) Privilege 12/1, Fair maiden hurdler in Ireland for Peter Fahey. Looks vulnerable unless a change of stable sparks improvement. Became disappointing in Ireland; bought for £2,500 in January; revival needed for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
TACTICAL AFFAIR sets a useful standard with an official rating of 124, and Warren Greatrex's five-year-old is the one to beat if building on his recent stable debut, when runner-up at Warwick. Tommys Charm can only improve having won on his Rules bow at Chepstow and he is the main danger, although Patriotik bumped into an improver at Fakenham last time and must not be underestimated.
This might develop into a straight fight between previous hurdle winners TACTICAL AFFAIR and Tommys Charm, with a narrow preference for the former now stepping up to 2½m for the first time.
Preference is for TOMMYS CHARM, who was not fully extended when when winning at Chepstow on last month's rules debut.

|F| (4) (14/1 +0%) Maidenstreetprince |
14/1(+0%) | (4) Maidenstreetprince 14/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Off 10 months, 20/1, thirteenth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Galway (16f, heavy) on return 154 days ago. Not seen again since but could be capable of better. Well below best at Galway after an absence and best watched returning after another break. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
SIR GERHARD looks the one they all have to beat. The three-time Grade 1 winner landed both the Weatherbys Champion Bumper and the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and, after some disappointments over fences, successfully reverted to hurdles at Punchestown this winter. He appeared not to get the trip last time in the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham and is well treated here at the weights. Call Me Lyreen won a valuable handicap hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival back in 2022 but has been soundly beaten both over hurdles and fences in the past year. Sempo was fifth behind Freewheelin Dylan in the Irish Grand National but now reappears after nearly three years on the sidelines, while Doyen Ta Win likes to force the pace and has won three handicaps at a low level.
The classy SIR GERHARD sets a clear standard back down markedly in trip and is hard to get away from. Call Me Lyreen is the danger.
Though SIR GERHARD was poor last time at Cheltenham in the Stayers' Hurdle, he can't be opposed down in trip in this company.

1st (4) (7/2 +13%) King William Rufus |
7/2(+13%) | (4) King William Rufus 7/2, Showed plenty when placed all 3 bumper outings last season. Took a step forward over hurdles when runner-up in Newbury maiden in December, but hasn't built on that in 2 handicaps since. However, he enters calculations back in maiden company. Below par last time but strong contender at this level on his previous efforts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (9/4 -29%) Beny Nahar Road |
9/4(-29%) | (1) Beny Nahar Road 9/4, Fairly useful maiden on the Flat and runner-up on first 2 starts over hurdles. In first-time hood/tongue strap, snatched up approaching home turn when sixth of 9 in handicap at Taunton last time. Could yet do better in this sphere, though he could do with settling better. Has run okay in novices won by good horses and certainly has the form to win this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/4 +25%) Fourtowns |
6/4(+25%) | (3) Fourtowns 6/4, Progressive in bumpers for Stuart Crawford and encouraging yard/hurdles debut display when fourth of 13 in novice at Newbury in February. Ran to a similar level when third at Ludlow 19 days later and he could be ready to get off the mark. Not far away in novices at Newbury and Ludlow; drier ground today could help him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (66/1 +0%) St Just In Time |
66/1(+0%) | (8) St Just In Time 66/1, Fair maiden on the level but ran to just a poor level when down the field in juvenile at Ludlow on his hurdling bow last month. Looks to be up against it. Didn't really progress on the Flat and finished well behind on hurdling debut at Ludlow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (7) (8/1 -60%) Secret Sauce |
8/1(-60%) | (7) Secret Sauce 8/1, Fair performer on the Flat in Ireland and best effort over hurdles when runner-up in Hereford novice in January, faring best of those held up. Not discredited when mid-field in maiden at Huntingdon next time and now makes first run for yard after leaving Anthony Charlton. Best run when second at Hereford but he'll need to better that effort here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (50/1 -52%) The Orchard Boy |
50/1(-52%) | (5) The Orchard Boy 50/1, Ocovango gelding. Dam placed in points, half-sister to fairly useful but ungenuine hurdler/chaser (2¼m-3½m winner) Present To You. Last of 7 finishers on sole outing in points in February. Difficult ask. Beaten 15l into seventh in a 2m4f good-ground British point two months ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (100/1 +0%) Dancing Master |
100/1(+0%) | (2) Dancing Master 100/1, Poor handicapper on the Flat in Jersey and hasn't offered much in 4 outings for his current yard, tailed off on his second start over hurdles before making little impact back on the level. Best watched. Limited Flat performer who showed nothing in two hurdles this year; no appeal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|RO| (6) (18/1 -80%) Night Stalker |
18/1(-80%) | (6) Night Stalker 18/1, Showed ability when third at Ludlow on bumper debut but hasn't progressed in a pair of outings in that sphere since. Others make greater appeal switched to hurdling. Backward step in his final bumper, which reduces his appeal on hurdling debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
BENY NAHAR ROAD has previously fared well against stronger calibre opponents than he faces here and is readily suggested as the one to be with now returning to maiden company. Fourtowns has shown some ability in two previous starts over hurdles and can ensure the selection doesn't have things all his own way if he continues to flourish. Night Stalker and Dancing Master complete the shortlist.
Having improved with each run in bumpers, FOURTOWNS has made a promising start over hurdles for his current yard and he can build on those efforts to open his account. Beny Nahar Road wasn't seen to best effect last time and the Paul Nicholls-trained 5-y-o could be the main danger, with King William Rufus completing the shortlist.
Three stand out and preference is for FOURTOWNS, who has run well in both his hurdles despite racing freely.

10/1(-25%) | (1) Lucky Lyreen 10/1, Didn't need to improve to win 9-runner novice hurdle at Punchestown (23.7f, soft, 6/4) 55 days ago, driven out. Open to improvement now handicapping. Yard also saddles Pacini. Stayed well for 3m maiden win; back in trip and needs more fluency in jumping. |

2nd (6) (10/3 +5%) Buachaillbocht |
10/3(+5%) | (6) Buachaillbocht 10/3, Promising individual. 7/4, career best when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle at Punchestown (22.8f, heavy) 42 days ago, always holding on. 11 lb rise demands more but he further progress is certainly possible. Has been keeping ahead of the handicapper but 11lb rise for latest win could anchor him. |

3rd (3) (16/1 +0%) The Other Mozzie |
16/1(+0%) | (3) The Other Mozzie 16/1, Fifth of 7 in novice hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, soft, 18/1) 28 days ago. Up in trip and tongue strap on 1st time for this handicap hurdle debut. Has work to do. Upped in trip and tongue tie tried here for handicap debut off high enough mark. |

4th (2) (25/1 +0%) Barry Lyndon |
25/1(+0%) | (2) Barry Lyndon 25/1, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Fell in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (20f, soft, 14/1) 14 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. Best form on better ground, obvious ground concerns here. |

5th (16) (11/1 -22%) Chosen Diamond |
11/1(-22%) | (16) Chosen Diamond 11/1, Chase winner at Naas in November. 4/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Limerick (17.5f, heavy) 21 days ago, ridden when jumping left 3 out. Switches from chase to hurdles. Looks competitive on form. Below-par chase effort latest but big player on previous hurdles form at this trip. |

6th (10) (9/1 -29%) Joyeux Vivo |
9/1(-29%) | (10) Joyeux Vivo 9/1, Lightly-raced maiden under Rules. 11/2, very good second of 17 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (16.2f, soft) 76 days ago, running on. Back up in trip and he has to enter calculations. Punchestown second should appreciate return to 2m4f and handles ground. |

7th (14) (7/1 -17%) Pacini |
7/1(-17%) | (14) Pacini 7/1, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Course winner. Up in trip and blinkers on 1st time for this handicap hurdle debut. Couldn't rule out. Sole 4yo in the field, could go well if seeing out this longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (15) (33/1 -65%) Shraheen |
33/1(-65%) | (15) Shraheen 33/1, Lightly-raced maiden under Rules. Good fourth of 21 in novice hurdle at Naas (19f, heavy, 80/1) 21 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Should have more to offer. Glimpses of ability in Naas maidens; could well have more to offer now entering handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (14/1 -27%) Prince Palace |
14/1(-27%) | (5) Prince Palace 14/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 7/1, seventh of 8 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (19.9f, soft) 55 days ago, unsuited by way race developed. Can make presence felt. Solid form here over further; tame recent Punchestown effort at this trip raises questions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (11) (11/1 -22%) Secrecies Of Stone |
11/1(-22%) | (11) Secrecies Of Stone 11/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Second of 15 in novice hurdle (5/1) at Limerick (16f, heavy) 94 days ago. Back up in trip for this handicap hurdle debut. Solid runs in all three maidens over various trips so one to consider. |

11th (4) (12/1 +0%) Banprionsa |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Banprionsa 12/1, Thrice-raced winner over hurdles. Successful at Tramore in November. Makes handicap hurdle debut and needs to raise her game. Lost action latest; bit to find on maiden form but remains unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (10/1 +44%) Pax |
10/1(+44%) | (9) Pax 10/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Fourth of 16 in novice hurdle (13/2) at Punchestown (16.7f, heavy) 39 days ago, not knocked about. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Should improve. Return to 2m4f sure to suit and potential improver entering handicap company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (12) (16/1 -45%) Explosive Boy |
16/1(-45%) | (12) Explosive Boy 16/1, Running well when falling 2 out in handicap hurdle at this course (20.2f, soft, 13/8) when last seen in December 2022 (was going better than winner at the time of his departure). Resumes on a 2 lb lower mark but 16-month absence is naturally a concern. Absent 15 months and ground concerns. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (8) (33/1 -32%) Ceroc |
33/1(-32%) | (8) Ceroc 33/1, 2 wins from 5 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Wexford in May. Fourth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Killarney (22.4f, good to soft, 15/2). Off 7 months. Cheekpieces back on. Long absent and probably wants better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15th (13) (12/1 -9%) Our Boy Rocky |
12/1(-9%) | (13) Our Boy Rocky 12/1, Thrice-raced winner over hurdles. Won 14-runner novice hurdle (2/1) at Thurles (19.8f, soft) 47 days ago, kept up to work. Likely there's more to come now that he ventures down the handicap route. Didn't beat much at Thurles but likely more to offer; could play a role on handicap bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16th (7) (12/1 -33%) Silver King |
12/1(-33%) | (7) Silver King 12/1, Winner at Punchestown in January. 17/2, creditable second of 6 in novice hurdle at that course (20f, heavy) 62 days ago. Place possibilities. Likes these conditions and recent Punchestown form at this trip gives him definite chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A 30lb rise in the ratings for three narrow handicap wins may seem excessive but BUACHAILLBOCHT has a canny knack for not winning too far and certainly idled in front before winning with a bit in hand at Punchestown last month. Mark Walsh should be able to produce him a bit later here and the main threat could be posed by another JP McManus-owned gelding in Joyeux Vivo. He showed promise in maidens and kept on well over two miles when runner-up to the progressive Morricone on handicap debut at Punchestown. Lucky Lyreen won't lack for stamina having beaten Kinturk Kalanisi (won since) in a three-mile maiden at Punchestown last time while Silver King and Pax are others to consider.
The finish may well be dominated by JP McManus-owned representatives, with handicap debutant PAX taken to strike. He shaped as though getting the hang of things when fourth in a big-field Punchestown maiden last month and this step back up in trip looks a good move. It's no great surprise that the owner's retained jockey, Mark Walsh, sides with the progressive Buachaillbocht and, despite going up 11 lb for his latest success, he is a big danger. Joyeux Vivo is third choice.
Wide open and slight preference for SILVER KING, who comes here in good form at this trip and on similar ground

Owners Amo Racing could not have made a better start to the season, having landed the Lincoln last week, and they might have a promising two-year-old on their hands in the shape of VIOLET LOVE. Her sire Havana Grey is developing into an excellent stallion and the George Boughey-trained filly should have plenty of pace to see off fellow newcomer Deal Maker, who is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Salute The Soldier. Awj and Far Above Mary must also be noted for any market support.
FAR ABOVE MARY, Awj and Deal Maker are the three against the field before the all-important market clues. Chalena didn't offer much on debut here on Tuesday and needs a marked step forward.
Chalena sets a modest standard. AWJ and Violet Love are particularly interesting types among the debutantes.

5/1(-25%) | (7) Post Chaise 5/1, C&D winner in November. Better than result when third of 6 at Ludlow (3m, heavy) under Harry Myddelton last month. First-time blinkers replace cheekpieces. Looks the chief threat to Bolsover Bill. C&D winner in November who is back on the same mark; new headgear tried; chance. |

2nd (5) (5/1 +0%) Ladronne |
5/1(+0%) | (5) Ladronne 5/1, Looked on good terms with himself when resuming winning ways at Doncaster (3¼m, soft) this month and presumably found the run coming too soon when only fourth off the same mark at Sedgefield 9 days later. 5/2(+0%) | (2) Bolsover Bill 5/2, Won 4 times for Warren Greatrex last season and has continued to thrive for current yard, landing back-to-back handicaps at Exeter in January under this rider. Running well again when unseating 3 out at Uttoxeter latest. The one to beat. Dual 2m3f Exeter winner in January; up 14lb and stamina to prove but a possible. |

4th (6) (13/2 -18%) Gerico Ville |
13/2(-18%) | (6) Gerico Ville 13/2, Fair winner at 25f over hurdles and easily best effort over fences this season when close second at Plumpton last month. Only a remote third at Warwick since, though. First-time visor replaces cheekpieces. Closely matched with Everything'sontick on Plumpton form; new headgear; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/2 -29%) Everything'sontick |
9/2(-29%) | (3) Everything'sontick 9/2, Has made a good start over fences this term, scoring at Leicester and Plumpton, although he was a fortunate winner at the latter track 5 weeks ago, leading near the finish after a loose horse hampered the runner-up. Mark unchanged. 2-4 over fences this season, but fortunate last time as clear leader went at the last. |

6th (4) (12/1 -20%) Oscar Robertson |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Oscar Robertson 12/1, Scored at Wetherby in 2021 for Tom George and back from a long absence with respectable fourth placings at Leicester, Doncaster and Southwell this winter. Cheekpieces go on for the first time. Fourth on all three starts for this yard this term; conditions suit and cheekpieces tried. |

7th (1) (7/1 +56%) Fern Hill |
7/1(+56%) | (1) Fern Hill 7/1, This mark is a good one judged on his reappearance third to Nassalam but he's run abysmally on all 3 outings since. Blinkers didn't do any good last time so it remains to be seen if first-time cheekpieces make any difference. Third off 12lb higher in December; had a wind op, but has struggled since; headgear tried. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BOLSOVER BILL has been a revelation since joining the Harry Derham stable and the form of his penultimate success at Exeter has worked out particularly well in the interim. The seven-year-old seems more than ready to step back up to three miles and he gets the vote ahead of Everything'sontick, who was a slightly fortuitous winner at Plumpton last month. Ladronne is another who must hold strong claims if bouncing back to the form of his victory at Doncaster earlier in the month.
The form of BOLLSOVER BILL's Exeter wins in January have been boosted several times and he was in with a shout when unseating 3 out at Uttoxeter since. He's taken to show he's still on a good mark, most likely at the main expense of November's C&D scorer Post Chaise.
In an open-looking race POST CHAISE is taken to repeat his C&D win of earlier in the season with Ladronne second choice.

9/1(+0%) | (5) Committee Of One 9/1, Low-mileage 9-y-o who had cheekpieces fitted when posting a good second of 8 in handicap at Leicester (22.5f, soft) in January. The headgear didn't work as well at Plumpton since, though. Close second at Leicester in January but has struggled since; can't be relied upon. |

2nd (2) (9/2 +0%) Santa Clarita |
9/2(+0%) | (2) Santa Clarita 9/2, Low-key efforts upon returning this season but stopped the slide when second of 6 over C&D last month. Not in the same form at Huntingdon since and needs a return to this venue to suit. Game second over C&D in February but needs to put this month's lesser effort behind her. |

3rd (1) (9/2 -29%) Shiroccosmagicbaby |
9/2(-29%) | (1) Shiroccosmagicbaby 9/2, Winning Irish pointer. Failed to build on her hurdle debut second in 3 subsequent outings over the smaller obstacles but could prove a different proposition now switching to fences after a 4-month break. Tongue tied first time. All the more interesting if backed. Well beaten on handicap hurdle debut but this point winner might fare better over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (5/1 +17%) Dancing Dani |
5/1(+17%) | (6) Dancing Dani 5/1, Poor and long-standing maiden. Ran well for second of 4 over 2m at Leicester last time but she was no match for the winner. Suspicion the wait for a first win will go on. 0-19 under rules but has posted a couple of good efforts this year; shortlisted. |

|PU| (4) (2/1 -14%) Fashion's Model |
2/1(-14%) | (4) Fashion's Model 2/1, Winning pointer who was runner-up over 3m at Ludlow in her second chase. Ran well when fourth in a novice at Warwick since and looks well treated back in a handicap. Creditable fourth in Warwick novice chase this month and looks the one to beat here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Not the strongest of contests, in which a chance can be taken on chasing debutant SHIROCCOSMAGICBABY. Christian Williams' seven-year-old, a previous point-to-point winner, took a few backwards steps after making a promising hurdles debut. However, she will appreciate the switch to fences and it would come as no surprise were she to move forward now fitted with a first-time tongue-tie. Dancing Dani arrives having posted two solid efforts over 2m and must enter the reckoning, while Santa Clarita appeals most of the remainder.
FASHION'S MODEL has shown enough on her last 2 outings to think she has a race in her from this sort of mark so she gets the nod, although a strong market move for Christian Williams chase newcomer Shiroccosmagicbaby
This looks good for FASHION'S MODEL (nap), who was a commendable fourth on unfavourable terms in a recent novice chase.

50/1(+0%) | (7) Mrs Biddle 50/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. 150/1, first run since leaving William Delahunty when ninth of 11 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (20f, heavy) 62 days ago. Ran okay in a Tramore maiden hurdle last summer but little to recommend otherwise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (11) (50/1 -52%) Queenofthelodge |
50/1(-52%) | (11) Queenofthelodge 50/1, Once-raced maiden. Nineteenth of 20 in juvenile hurdle at this course (16.7f, heavy, 66/1) on NH debut 10 days ago. Soundly beaten on debut here last week; hard to make a case for on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (25/1 +0%) Dinner At Freddys |
25/1(+0%) | (10) Dinner At Freddys 25/1, Affinisea filly. Dam bumper winner (stayed 2½m over hurdles). Market can guide. Stable have introduced some nice young horses of late and could be worth watching. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (2/1 -14%) Jokers 'n' Clowns |
2/1(-14%) | (5) Jokers 'n' Clowns 2/1, Twice-raced maiden. 5/2 and hooded for 1st time, very good second of 16 in novice hurdle at Gowran (16f, heavy) 22 days ago. Stable having good spell. Considered. Can still improve and should take some beating although the hood is left off today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (80/1 -220%) Caremuchmore |
80/1(-220%) | (2) Caremuchmore 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Creditable third of 15 in novice hurdle (20/1) at Thurles (23.1f, soft). Off 16 months. Off for 16 months but needs to improve a little to have a chance anyway. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CAST A SPELL won a bumper at Southwell last summer for Gary Moore and appeared to show much improved form over hurdles when fourth to Birdie Or Bust in a Listed mares novice at Thurles just before Christmas. A reproduction of that latest effort would leave her hard to beat although this testing ground is a concern. Jokers 'n' Clowns won a point-to-point at Tattersalls Farm but weakened on the run-in when runner-up to Queen Nel in a Gowran maiden hurdle on very heavy ground earlier this month. Lep Around is another point-to-point winner to consider having also filled the runner-up spot both in a bumper and over hurdles, while Smiling Bess and Royal Cave are others to note.
SMILING BESS shaped well when runner-up on her recent hurdling bow at Navan and looks the way to go here with improvement very much on the cards. Cast A Spell and Jokers 'N' Clowns both have the form to have a say and can chase home Kevin Prendergast's daughter of Mount Nelson in that order.
This may got to JOKERS 'N' CLOWNS who was far more convincing at Gowran last time and looks to have more to offer

Worth another chance. Successful stable debut before a lesser show at Newbury; new headgear now tried. |

2nd (5) (5/2 -25%) Alto Alto |
5/2(-25%) | (5) Alto Alto 5/2, Rejuvenated by cheekpieces and a tongue strap when bagging 2m handicap chases over C&D this winter. Expected to be bang there despite being raised another 4 lb. Rallied gamely to fend off a subsequent winner over C&D latest; 4lb rise very fair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 -25%) Hystery Bere |
5/1(-25%) | (2) Hystery Bere 5/1, Fairly useful hurdles scorer who made a winning start in this sphere in 4-runner handicap at Warwick last May. Pulled up in Newbury handicap chase before coming in last of 6 on the Flat at Lingfield last 2 starts though. Has a bit to prove. Pulled up in his final chase and then last on the AW; blinkers are now turned to. |

4th (3) (8/1 -14%) Voice Of Calm |
8/1(-14%) | (3) Voice Of Calm 8/1, Triple hurdle winner who also scored over fences at Leicester (match race) last February. Posted a solid third of 8 in handicap chase at Kempton (20.5f, good to soft) 139 days ago. Possibilities. Below par the last twice and has been off since November; drop in trip a further worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (14/1 +0%) You Say Nothing |
14/1(+0%) | (6) You Say Nothing 14/1, Scored at Ffos Las (2m) last May but he has twice failed to back up a good Chepstow second over Christmas since. Needs to bounce back. Capable on his day but inconsistent and has performed poorly the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (7/2 -5%) Vicki Vale |
7/2(-5%) | (4) Vicki Vale 7/2, Signed off last term by winning a mares' novice hurdle at Taunton and has acquitted herself well in handicap company this season. Of strong interest now switched to fences. May want further but a consistent hurdler who commands respect on this switch to fences. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
The hat-trick chasing ALTO ALTO appeals strongly based on a couple of hard-fought successes registered at this course and, having adapted well since being tried with the cheekpieces and tongue-tie combination, the seven-year-old gets the vote once again. Vicki Vale is feared on her chasing bow, while Kansas City Star is capable of a decent showing, especially with a first-time tongue-tie applied.
ALTO ALTO has taken his form up a level since fitted with cheekpieces/tongue strap and can complete a hat-trick at the chief expense of Dan Skelton's chasing-debutante Vicki Vale. Voice of Calm and Kansas City Star need factoring in too if at their best.
Chris Gordon's ALTO ALTO is always a force to be reckoned with around here and he beat a subsequent winner on his latest visit.

16/1(+36%) | (18) Theatre Native 16/1, Thrice-raced winner under Rules. 4/5, won 13-runner novice hurdle at this course (16f, heavy) 36 days ago, readily. Up in trip and hooded for 1st time here. Rachael Blackmore's pick of the yard's 4 contenders. Exploited an ideal opportunity in a maiden hurdle here last month, big task now. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Willie Mullins is mob-handed here with ten runners and perhaps FUN FUN FUN can come out on top. The daughter of Martaline won twice in bumpers last term including a Grade 2 at Leopardstown and is unlucky not to be unbeaten in four hurdle starts this term. She easily landed a Grade 3 at Naas last time and just gets the nod over stablemate Jade De Grugy who is the choice of Paul Townend. She also won a Grade 3 in good style at this venue and ran with plenty of credit when fourth under a 5lb penalty in the mares' novice hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Jetara was pulled up in this race last year but has progressed well this term winning three times including when readily beating Pink In The Park over this trip at Leopardstown while the prolific Springtime Promise is a welcome UK challenger.
Ten of the 18 set to go to post represent the Willie Mullins yard and CUTA DES AS could be the pick of them, for all that she's not the pick of Paul Townend. Cuta Des As achieved a pretty strong level of form in bumpers last season and her hurdles debut success at Punchestown was pretty much faultless. Townend opts to ride Jade de Grugy, who landed a Grade 3 here in January before running well at the Cheltenham Festival. Jetara and Fun Fun Fun are others to consider.
Willie Mullins throws the kitchen sink at this and JADE DE GRUGY is probably the right one despite a below-best Cheltenham run

1st (4) (6/4 +8%) Ziggy's Missile |
6/4(+8%) | (4) Ziggy's Missile 6/4, Made it back-to-back wins when scoring comfortably at this C&D on his penultimate start. Ran at least as well when second of 5 in handicap at Newcastle (5f, 8/15) 8 days ago, headed dying strides. Leading contender. Has form figures of 112 since switched to AW; went very close on latest occasion. |

2nd (3) (6/1 -100%) Moonstone Boy |
6/1(-100%) | (3) Moonstone Boy 6/1, Having bumped into a few promising types, found extra to deservedly get off the mark in 5-runner minor event at this C&D (evens) 26 days ago. Can make his presence felt as he goes handicapping. Off the mark in C&D novice event this month, gaining reward for his consistency. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (4/1 +11%) Ashwiyaa |
4/1(+11%) | (1) Ashwiyaa 4/1, Opened account at Down Royal in September and good 3¾ lengths third of 10 to Pipsy in listed race at Dundalk (5f, 16/1) next time. Interesting contender as she makes handicap debut on first start since leaving M. D. O'Callaghan. Ran well in Listed grade on final start in Ireland; interesting back down in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (5/1 +17%) Boann |
5/1(+17%) | (5) Boann 5/1, C&D winner who resumed her progress when doubling her tally in 12-runner nursery at Kempton (6f, 33/1) in November, digging deep. Will need to find more again on her return. Has a record of 2-3 on AW and may have more to offer; C&D winner; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/1 -38%) Hint Of The Jungle |
11/1(-38%) | (6) Hint Of The Jungle 11/1, Won at Beverley and Wolverhampton last year, but ended the campaign with a lesser effort when sixth of 10 in nursery at Lingfield (5f, AW, 10/1) in September. However, he's not discounted after 6 months off (has been gelded). Came up short on final 2yo start but may fare better today, with Rossa Ryan booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (9/1 +10%) Mini Magna |
9/1(+10%) | (2) Mini Magna 9/1, Two wins from 6 runs last year when trained by Ed Dunlop. Stepped up on reappearance when 1¾ lengths second of 7 to Ziggy's Missile in handicap at this C&D (50/1) 19 days ago. Can give another good account. Good effort behind Ziggy's Missile over C&D this month on second run for new yard. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
It is difficult to look past ZIGGY'S MISSILE, who is slightly unlucky not to be arriving on a four-timer, having been denied late at Newcastle recently. A taking winner over C&D on his penultimate start, the son of Blue Point has the services of Silvestre De Sousa to call upon this time around and he can get the better of Ashwiyaa, who is very interesting on her first start for new connections. Successful over C&D himself earlier in the month, Moonstone Boy must also enter calculations on his handicap debut.
ZIGGY'S MISSILE has been going the right way this year, winning in good style over C&D before only narrowly denied at Newcastle 8 days ago, so he is taken to resume winning ways back at this venue. Moonstone Boy gained a first success here on his latest outing and is feared most on his handicap debut, ahead of Ashwiyaa.
Of the runners who have the benefit of recent match practice, ZIGGY'S MISSILE and Moonstone Boy are particularly solid.

Showed a bit tried hurdling after 6 months off when a well-held third of 14 at Hereford 6 weeks ago but she'll need to leave that bare form behind to go close here. Fair form at up to 1m4f on the Flat; pulled hard when third on hurdles debut; may improve. |

5th (4) (13/2 -8%) Locken Lady |
13/2(-8%) | (4) Locken Lady 13/2, Snow Sky mare landed an Irish point in January. Well held in a bumper in February but fared a lot better when runner-up over hurdles at Huntingdon 18 days ago. Open to progress. Irish point winner who was runner-up in a maiden on hurdles debut last time; chance. |

16/1(-78%) | (9) Touch Of A Dragon 16/1, Best effort over hurdles when third in 17f mares' maiden at Newcastle (heavy) last month but the form is only modest. Improved on hurdle debut when third at Newcastle last time; one worth considering. |

40/1(-100%) | (7) Ready To Shine 40/1, Fair handicapper on Flat (stays 1¾m). Arrives fit from AW. Betting should guide now hurdling. Won a Flat h'cap on good to firm; interesting on jumps debut but slow ground not ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (10) (200/1 -100%) Bubblecraft |
200/1(-100%) | (10) Bubblecraft 200/1, Fair at up to 13f on the Flat in France but has offered little on the Flat and in 2 hurdles for this stable. First-time cheekpieces need to transform her. Won a French claimer on the Flat in 2023; pulled up on both hurdles runs; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (40/1 -100%) Macmolly |
40/1(-100%) | (5) Macmolly 40/1, Showed more than on debut tongue tied when sixth of 8 in a bumper (28/1) at Wetherby (2m, heavy) 123 days ago, though would've been beaten further in a more truly-run race. Others preferred making hurdling debut. Better effort in bumpers when sixth last time; improvement needed on hurdles debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The vote goes to PITWOOD ROAD, who couldn't justify odds-on favouritism for her hurdles bow at Bangor but ran well in second nonetheless. With improvement expected, the six-year-old can get off the mark with recent Huntingdon second Locken Lady looking best placed to chase her home. Fashionelle, who has not been in action since a promising runner-up effort in a Fontwell bumper last April, is also respected.
In a race where those with hurdle experience don't set the bar that high, a chance is taken on IRISH LULLABY, who has some useful form to her name on the Flat in Ireland. Bangor runner-up Pitwood Road looks best of the remainder.
The vote goes to Irish point winner LOCKEN LADY who shaped with plenty of promise on her hurdles debut at Huntingdon last month.

1st (6) (7/2 +42%) Wonderweasle |
7/2(+42%) | (6) Wonderweasle 7/2, Some promise in maiden/novice hurdles but little impact in 2 starts over fences. Returned to hurdling, unable to sustain effort when third of 5 in handicap at Plumpton (20.5f, soft) last time. More needed but she could yet do better at this trip. A maiden after six starts but last month's handicap hurdle debut was respectable. |

2nd (5) (7/4 +13%) Smart Casual |
7/4(+13%) | (5) Smart Casual 7/4, Stepped up on return when runner-up at Fontwell in December (shaped best) and ran well when fourth at Uttoxeter 10 days later. Looked sure to be involved when brought down 3 out at this course (15.8f, heavy) in February, so he could be ready to get off the mark. Twice ran well on heavy ground in December and was unlucky to be brought down last month. |

3rd (3) (7/1 -17%) Mac's Legacy |
7/1(-17%) | (3) Mac's Legacy 7/1, Much improved when second on his handicap debut at Hereford (25.5f, good to soft) in January. However, he wasn't able to build on that when mid-field at the same course (21.7f, soft) next time. Needs to resume his progress with blinkers applied. Creditable second on handicap debut (good ground); not in same form on soft ground since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (11/4 -57%) Mumbles |
11/4(-57%) | (1) Mumbles 11/4, Has been going the right way in handicaps this season, making it 2 wins from his last 3 starts when successful in 4-runner event at Fontwell (19.2f, heavy) 13 days ago. Not taken lightly. Dual 2m3f winner on heavy ground this year and further progress is possible. |

5th (4) (33/1 -32%) Layerthorpe |
33/1(-32%) | (4) Layerthorpe 33/1, Landed a hat-trick in staying handicap hurdles back in 2019 and ran to a similar level when second in handicap chase at Taunton (23f) in December 2022. Has only run twice since, though, sixth of 9 at Hereford almost a year ago. Reverts to hurdling on his return. Safely held in a chase on latest start one year ago; would appeal much more on good ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (8/1 -23%) Ballyvaughan Bay |
8/1(-23%) | (2) Ballyvaughan Bay 8/1, Fared better than previously when third behind a couple of useful prospects in maiden at Lingfield (19.5f, heavy) last month. Enters calculations as he makes his handicap debut. Placed in two maidens during the winter but this month's handicap debut was disappointing. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Things seem to have clicked into place for Mumbles, who arrives having won two of his last three starts. The latest of those, a comfortable 2m3f success at Fontwell, would suggest he has more than enough to defy a subsequent 4lb rise. That said, a chance is still taken on SMART CASUAL, who was going easily when brought down three from home over 2m here. The six-year-old can put that behind him and shed his maiden tag. Ballyvaughan Bay is also noted.
SMART CASUAL has been shaping up well in handicaps this season, looking sure to play a hand in the finish when departing at this course on his latest outing, and he could still have more to offer upped in trip. He is taken to see off the challenge of Mumbles, who has been progressing well during the current campaign, with Ballyvaughan Bay also considered.
There might still be more to come from SMART CASUAL, who was knocking on the door towards the end of last year.

1st (9) (11/1 -10%) Summer Tide |
11/1(-10%) | (9) Summer Tide 11/1, Fairly useful chaser. Off 7 months. Significantly down in trip. Can do better in this sphere. Not seen since a 3m handicap hurdle at the Galway festival; inadequate trip; best watched. |

2nd (6) (8/11 +0%) Now Is The Hour |
8/11(+0%) | (6) Now Is The Hour 8/11, Useful hurdler/winning pointer. 12/1, career best when winning 10-runner Prestige Novices' Hurdle at Haydock (24.3f, heavy) 43 days ago by 17 lengths from Don't Rightly Know, forging clear. Exciting chasing newcomer. Big step back in trip here for his chase debut but likely to be hard to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (7/1 -17%) Fortunedefortunata |
7/1(-17%) | (4) Fortunedefortunata 7/1, Useful hurdler. Latest win in hurdle at Navan in November. 11/2, bit below form sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Naas (19f, heavy) 21 days ago. Makes chase debut and likely player in this company. Anchored by the handicapper after winning at Navan in November; good time to go chasing. |

4th (8) (50/1 -52%) Sea Road Fill |
50/1(-52%) | (8) Sea Road Fill 50/1, Fair hurdler. 22/1, first run since leaving E. J. O'Grady when fifth of 12 in novice chase at Thurles (20.8f, soft) on debut over fences 26 days ago. Stiff task. Respectable debut over fences in a weaker beginners chase at Thurles; more needed here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (14/1 +0%) Mister Wilson |
14/1(+0%) | (5) Mister Wilson 14/1, Fair winner at 16f over hurdles. 28/1, tenth of 13 in novice chase at Fairyhouse (16.5f, soft) 176 days ago. Well beaten at Fairyhouse in October when last seen; stable has at least one better chance. |

6th (2) (100/1 -52%) Cosmic Blizzard |
100/1(-52%) | (2) Cosmic Blizzard 100/1, Poor hurdler. 125/1, last of 6 in novice chase at Gowran (20f, heavy) 22 days ago. Unlikely to be winning this. Modest overall form; beaten a mile at Gowran on his last start; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (9/2 -29%) An Epic Song |
9/2(-29%) | (1) An Epic Song 9/2, Just touched off in last season's Coral Cup but made an undistinguished start over fences after 7 months off, fifth of 11 in novice chase (18/1) at Punchestown (18.9f, soft) 127 days ago. Could do better after a break. Has a clear chance here with better jumping, albeit over a trip short of his best. |

|U| (7) (50/1 +0%) Pont Audemer |
50/1(+0%) | (7) Pont Audemer 50/1, Fair winner at 16f over hurdles. Eleventh of 13 in novice chase at Fairyhouse (16.5f, soft, 125/1) 176 days ago. Tongue strap on for 1st time. No show in two starts over fences to date and will fare better in handicaps; tongue-tied. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
NOW IS THE HOUR fell when holding a clear lead two out in a 2m3f Limerick maiden hurdle at Christmas but has made amends winning both outings since including an impressive success in a Grade 2 novice hurdle over three miles at Haydock. This drop back in trip may not be ideal switching to fences but on the plus side he handles heavy ground really well and showed smart form in point-to-points. An Epic Song was probably the pick of these over hurdles having been just touched off by Langer Dan in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival last year but he's been lightly raced since and jumped left when well beaten on his debut over fences at Punchestown. Fortunedefortunata and point-to-point winner Extrapolation have both won three times under Rules and merit respect.
NOW IS THE HOUR is a useful hurdler who stays much further but he promises to do even better over fences and this looks a good opening. Fortunedefortunata could be the danger.
The selection is NOW IS THE HOUR, coming here as the in-form horse after his impressive win at Haydock but he is effective over shorter

1st (1) (3/1 +25%) Sea Invasion |
3/1(+25%) | (1) Sea Invasion 3/1, Bought for £110,000 after a promising effort between the flags in 2022 and has made steady progress under Rules, most recently finishing fourth in a strong maiden hurdle at Kempton (2m, good) on Boxing Day. Should have more to offer now upped in trip for this handicap debut and good claims. Has bumped into good horses in his maidens and he's raised in trip for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8/1 -45%) A Tickatickatiming |
8/1(-45%) | (6) A Tickatickatiming 8/1, Fair bumper winner and matched that level over hurdles when holding on gamely for success in 2m mares' maiden here in November. Will need to find more again as she goes handicapping up in trip 5 months on. Both wins have been here; quite interesting up in trip on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (5/1 -67%) All Authorized |
5/1(-67%) | (2) All Authorized 5/1, Looks on a fair mark judged on his second in 2m novice handicap at Newbury earlier this month but spurned a good opening in Fontwell novice since. Should stay this far and isn't one to give up on. Capable of a bold show despite coming up short in latest maiden when long odds-on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (10) (25/1 -79%) Senor Diaz |
25/1(-79%) | (10) Senor Diaz 25/1, Stuck to his task when runner-up at Chepstow (2m, heavy) in January but well beaten at Exeter next time. Work to do now handicapping up in trip. Could have run better last time at Exeter and others appeal more on this handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (14/1 +13%) Defi Nonantais |
14/1(+13%) | (7) Defi Nonantais 14/1, Steady improvement in 3 novice hurdles but only a respectable effort without finding the necessary progress on his handicap bow at Wincanton (21.4f, heavy) last month. Tongue tie/cheekpieces on after wind op now and work to do. Made a noise when third on handicap debut; had wind op and headgear tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (9) (25/1 -56%) Birdman Bob |
25/1(-56%) | (9) Birdman Bob 25/1, A regular here, winning 2m novice handicap hurdle in November and good efforts when completing since under this rider. Poor run over fences fitted with cheekpieces at Exeter on Monday and this looks tough. On a tough mark but has each-way claims back hurdling on a track he runs well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (5/1 +38%) Tregele |
5/1(+38%) | (5) Tregele 5/1, Looked on a tempting mark on his efforts in 2m novice/maiden hurdles but proved a bit disappointing on his handicap debut over this trip at Huntingdon 10 weeks ago. Remains unexposed at least. There's a suspicion that he's better than he showed on handicap debut latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (5/1 -11%) Two To Tango |
5/1(-11%) | (3) Two To Tango 5/1, Fair form in bumpers and again in a couple of races over hurdles this season, well positioned but lacking a turn of foot over the shorter trip (2m) when second at Newbury 7 weeks ago. Can do better now going handicapping over this stiffer test. Placed in both hurdles and should pay his way in handicaps over this sort of trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (7/1 -8%) Impact Du Bonheur |
7/1(-8%) | (8) Impact Du Bonheur 7/1, Bought for €90,000 after winning the third of 3 bumper starts in France. Some promise over hurdles initially for new yard but has been well beaten in 2 handicaps, including fitted with cheekpieces at Musselburgh 8 weeks ago. Bit to prove all of a sudden. Four defeats for this yard include two handicaps; today's drier conditions may assist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (25/1 -25%) Ca Plane Pour Moi |
25/1(-25%) | (4) Ca Plane Pour Moi 25/1, Had been shaping up quite well for Colm Murphy, but was notably weak in the market fitted with a hood by a new yard at Taunton 3 weeks ago and ran no sort of race. Back up in trip and might need his mark to drop a little further. Ability in Ireland; quiet stable debut in a Taunton handicap; hood tried there is removed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
A TICKATICKATIMING goes well at this venue and, having shown tenacity to land a mares' maiden here when last seen, the six-year-old is a striking option here. Having gone well fresh in the past, the selection debuts in a handicap off a very workable mark and, with her course experience to draw upon, everything looks in place for a big run. All Authorized is effective at this level and is feared most, although support in the betting for Two To Tango would also be tempting.
SEA INVASION ran well in a valuable 2m maiden hurdle at the King George meeting on Boxing Day and promises to do better again now handicapping up in trip. He gets the vote over Two To Tango and All Authorized.
This has an open look to it. SEA INVASION is interesting over this longer trip for a trainer recognised in the race title.

40/1(-21%) | (4) Captain Cody 40/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Fourth of 7 in novice hurdle (4/5) at Leopardstown (16f, soft) 28 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Back up in trip. Twice a beaten favourite since an odds-on maiden win, appears vulnerable at this level. |

2nd (8) (16/1 -146%) Mossy Fen Park |
16/1(-146%) | (8) Mossy Fen Park 16/1, Twice-raced winner over hurdles. 1 win from 2 runs this season. 6/4, won 12-runner novice hurdle at Down Royal (20.2f, soft) 96 days ago. More needed. Did not have much to beat in a maiden at Down Royal but capable of building on that effort. |

16/1(+20%) | (1) Loughglynn 16/1, Useful hurdler. Pulled up in Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novices' Hurdle (7/1) at Leopardstown (22.4f, soft) 57 days ago won by Dancing City, pulled up soon after. Paul Townend prefers Anotherway. Blotted his record at Leopardstown, defeat of Stellar Story at Limerick is persuasive form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (14/1 -40%) Gold Dancer |
14/1(-40%) | (7) Gold Dancer 14/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Up in trip and open to improvement but yard saddles stronger candidates. Heavy-ground winner in France, struggled behind the outstanding Ballyburn at Leopardstown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (33/1 -32%) Champagne Admiral |
33/1(-32%) | (5) Champagne Admiral 33/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 2 wins from 5 runs this season. Latest win in hurdle at Leopardstown in December. Fifth of 6 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (20f, heavy, 4/1) 62 days ago. Handicap winner over this trip, official rating not high enough to imply a strong chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (14/1 +30%) Oscars Brother |
14/1(+30%) | (10) Oscars Brother 14/1, Twice-raced winner over hurdles. Won 6-runner novice hurdle at Limerick (24f, heavy, 11/10) 21 days ago, impressively. Open to progress and well worth his place in this higher grade. Good staying novice, trip may be a little short of his best, ground conditions should help. |

7th (9) (10/3 -48%) No Flies On Him |
10/3(-48%) | (9) No Flies On Him 10/3, Promising sort. 1 win from 2 runs this season. 9 lengths second of 8 to Tullyhill in listed hurdle at Punchestown (15.9f, heavy, 4/1) 42 days ago. Up in trip and he's every inch a leading contender. Looked smart when winning at Leopardstown, Punchestown form let down at Cheltenham. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (2) (7/2 +42%) Anotherway |
7/2(+42%) | (2) Anotherway 7/2, Promising sort. 1 win from 2 runs this season. 8/15, won 12-runner novice hurdle at Punchestown (16.1f, heavy) 62 days ago, pushed out. Up in trip and he's high on the shortlist. Down the field behind No Flies On Him on Irish debut, won readily at Punchestown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (4/1 +0%) Dee Capo |
4/1(+0%) | (6) Dee Capo 4/1, Promising sort. 3 wins from 5 runs this season. 3/1, career best when winning 6-runner minor event hurdle at Leopardstown (18.3f, soft) 28 days ago, cosily. Enters calculations. Did well to beat the very experienced Ashdale Bob at Leopardstown, could be a factor again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (15/2 -50%) Rushmount |
15/2(-50%) | (11) Rushmount 15/2, Twice-raced winner over hurdles. Won 6-runner novice hurdle at Thurles (23.6f, soft, 10/11) 38 days ago, readily. Likely to improve. Left an impression he could go on to better things when winning a maiden at Thurles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (66/1 -100%) Blaze The Way |
66/1(-100%) | (3) Blaze The Way 66/1, Twice-raced winner in bumpers. 5/1, won 7-runner bumper at Thurles (16.2f, soft) 26 days ago, staying on well. Makes hurdles debut. Back up in trip. Promising bumper winner but his lack of jumping experience could make things difficult. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
DEE CAPO won a bumper and maiden hurdle at Galway and Cork respectively last autumn and appeared to benefit from a winter break when successfully reappearing at Leopardstown earlier this month. The selection got on top on the run-in when beating Ashdale Bob and should appreciate this extra two furlongs. No Flies On Him won a 28-runner maiden at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting but was weak in the market when soundly beaten subsequently by Tullyhill at Punchestown. The Edward O'Grady-trained gelding has scope for further improvement while others to consider include easy Punchestown maiden winner Anotherway, Rushmount and Mossy Fen Park.
The value angle here could be OSCARS BROTHER, who chased home a useful type on his hurdles debut prior to going one better in some style at Limerick three weeks ago. No Flies on Him landed a 26-runner Leopardstown maiden on his hurdles debut and subsequently found only Tullyhill too strong in a listed event at Punchestown. The winner rather let the form down when well held at the Cheltenham Festival but No Flies On Him is very promising and is second choice ahead of Dee Capo and Anotherway.
There could be further improvement to come from DEE CAPO who beat a seasoned campaigner at Leopardstown last time

6/4(+0%) | (1) Across Earth 6/4, Thrice-raced maiden. Second of 12 in maiden at Kempton (12f, 11/8) 25 days ago, no match for winner. Makes handicap debut. Solid claims. Second in 1m4f Kempton maiden this month; should have improvement to come in handicaps. |

4/1(-33%) | (3) Free Speech 4/1, Lightly-raced winner. Winner at Chelmsford City in October. Good second of 8 in nursery (7/2) at Wolverhampton (9.5f). Off 156 days. Up in trip. One to note for all that she might need the run. Won on nursery debut in October (1m2f) and went close a fortnight later (9.4f). |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Cases can be made for all of these but marginal preference is for ACROSS EARTH, with Marco Botti's top-weight showing ability in all three of his novice/maiden starts. An opening mark of 75 should be workable for the Golden Horn colt and he gets the vote ahead of King's School, who has a similar profile to the selection and may improve having been gelded since his latest outing. Free Speech edges out Attila The Honey to be best of the rest.
KING'S SCHOOL showed ability through the winter and, now upped in trip after a gelding operation, he's expected to improve enough to defy a feasible opening mark. Across Earth ran well last time and looks an obvious danger, while Free Speech shouldn't be far away if she's ready to go.
The pick is ACROSS EARTH, who kept on well for second at Kempton this month and might have a fitness edge over a couple of the others.

1st (5) (9/2 -64%) Pyffo |
9/2(-64%) | (5) Pyffo 9/2, Useful bumper winner but he's not really kicked on over hurdles, failing to improve upped to extended 3m for his handicap debut after 11 weeks off at Doncaster, again said to have been showing moderate signs of post-race ataxia. Questions to answer. Bumper winner on soft; good 2nd on hurdles debut; below par since but could bounce back. |

Well held in the EBF Novices' Handicap Final at Sandown 3 weeks ago but this is a lot easier in first-time cheekpieces. Two good runs in January; stiff task latest; chance with headgear tried down in grade. |

5th (8) (7/2 -56%) Teetotaller |
7/2(-56%) | (8) Teetotaller 7/2, £16,000 3-y-o, brother to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser Blackjack Magic (19f-25f winner) and fair hurdler Passam (3m winner). Off mark in points at second attempt (Dec 2023). Wears tongue tie. Not overfaced on debut and worth a look. Won a point bumper in 2023; related to jump winners; interesting on hurdles/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (150/1 -50%) Lord Warburton |
150/1(-50%) | (2) Lord Warburton 150/1, Modest at best on Flat (stays 1½m), well held both starts in 2023 following lengthy absence and sold from Mark Campion £3,000 in January. Hard to fancy. Modest Flat performer at up to 1m6f; probably best watched on stable/hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (1) (7/2 -27%) Diamond Koda |
7/2(-27%) | (1) Diamond Koda 7/2, Fairly useful form when narrowly beaten in bumpers (twice here) and found only an experienced one too good making hurdling bow over a longer trip after 12 weeks off at Doncaster, staying on for second. Should improve and can go well in a thin maiden. Runner-up in three bumpers and on hurdles debut over 2m3f at Doncaster; each-way chance. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
DIAMOND KODA didn't do himself any favours with some errant jumping on his debut in this sphere at Doncaster, but he kept on for a distant second and that form sets the standard in this moderate maiden. Nick Kent's charge may have enough to see off Pyffo and newcomer Teetotaller, who is bound to want further in time being a brother to Badger Beer winner Blackjack Magic.
TARAS HALLS's two seconds over this trip in novice/maiden hurdles read well and this looks a good opportunity having contested the EBF Novices' Handicap Final at Sandown 3 weeks ago. Diamond Koda made a good start in this sphere at Doncaster and should go well. Teetotaller is an interesting newcomer.
This can go to TARAS HALLS who has some solid form over hurdles to his credit. Pyffo and Diamond Koda should also go well.

3/1(+0%) | (5) Art Decco 3/1, Much improved since the cheekpieces went on and bids for a hat-trick following wins at Fontwell and Taunton (23f, heavy) last month. 7 lb higher here but that form has been franked so he's a player. Bang-in-form 8yo who is 2-2 since cheekpieces were added last month; up in grade today. |

2nd (1) (11/1 -22%) The Galloping Bear |
11/1(-22%) | (1) The Galloping Bear 11/1, Useful staying chaser who posted a good Newcastle second last February. Well held all 4 starts since so he needs to bounce back. Very well suited by a slog in the mud but has looked out of sorts this season. |

In the mix once more. Kept on well to win North Wales National in first-time cheekpieces this month; respected. |

|PU| (6) (11/2 -38%) Well Dick |
11/2(-38%) | (6) Well Dick 11/2, Revived by a first-time tongue strap when winning 7-runner handicap chase at Warwick (29.2f, heavy) 21 days ago, just holding on. Needs considering despite a 5 lb rise with headgear again sported. Got career back on track with game 3m5f win this month; open to further progress. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
STELLAR STREAM remains unexposed at marathon trips and he clearly benefitted from the application of cheekpieces when running out a game winner over an extended 3m5f at Bangor. Nudged up 4lb, with forecast underfoot conditions to suit, he can make a bold bid to bring up the double. The hat-trick seeking Art Decco heads the dangers, but a 7lb rise for his Taunton victory will make life tougher in this slightly warmer affair. The form of Pimlico Point's Exeter success has been franked and, tackling 3m4f for the first time, he completes the shortlist off 3lb higher.
ART DECCO hasn't looked back since fitted with cheekpieces so is fancied to defy a 7lb weights rise and complete a hat-trick at the chief expense of Exeter-scorer Pimlico Point. Well Dick, who arrives on the back of a recent success at Warwick, and dual winner of this Amateur can't be ruled out either in a very open contest.
Low-mileage 7yo PIMLICO POINT opened his chasing account with a 3m win on heavy ground four weeks ago and can probably improve again.

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
This ought to be a confidence-boosting success for ASTERION FORLONGE, who reverts to fences having finished a creditable sixth in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham 17 days ago. He's not the most reliable at times, but the 10-year-old retains plenty of ability and, given a clean round of jumping, ought to have far too much for Lucid Dreams, who has been coming up short at this level and is rated 15lb inferior.
ASTERION FORLONGE should be able to see off sole rival Lucid Dreams and provide Willie Mullins with a third successive win in this Grade 3.
It is a while since ASTERION FORLONGE has run over fences but if his jumping holds up then he should account for Lucid Dreams.

1st (7) (8/1 +50%) Cap Du Nord |
8/1(+50%) | (7) Cap Du Nord 8/1, Grand servant to connections but he arrives below par and is without a win for 12 outings. Others make more appeal. 11yo who is 10lb below his last winning mark, having not made much impact this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (13/8 -9%) Makin'yourmindup |
13/8(-9%) | (1) Makin'yourmindup 13/8, Likeable sort who arrives on a hat-trick after a pair of 23f Newbury handicap chase successes this year. Up 5 lb but he looks to have more to offer and merits serious consideration. On the up and today's extra yardage may well help, after two wins at Newbury (2m7f, heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (7/1 +13%) Unanswered Prayers |
7/1(+13%) | (5) Unanswered Prayers 7/1, Winless over fences since 2022 but he got back on track after a wind op when sixth of 12 in handicap chase at Kempton (24f, soft) 36 days ago. Considered eased 1 lb. Has shown enough this term to be given a squeak on this second run since wind surgery. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/1 -25%) Rose Of Arcadia |
5/1(-25%) | (4) Rose Of Arcadia 5/1, Is enjoying a good season and landed 10-runner handicap chase at Sandown (24.2f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Must enter calculations despite taking a 4 lb rise. Having a pretty solid campaign, winning at Sandown latest, and should be on the premises. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (11/1 +8%) Moroder |
11/1(+8%) | (3) Moroder 11/1, Bagged the Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster last March and ended campaign with a fine second in Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown. Big questions to answer now though after 4 poor runs this season. Second in major 3m4f handicap at Sandown last April but badly out of sorts this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (13/2 -30%) Any News |
13/2(-30%) | (2) Any News 13/2, Bumper/hurdles winner who took a while to get off the mark over fences but has had a productive autumn, winning 3 times (albeit the second was a walkover). A 5 lb rise for his latest Exeter success does demand more of him, though. Stayed on gamely to take 11-runner race at Exeter (3m, good) in October last time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
A few of these arrive in terrific form, perhaps none more so than MAKIN'YOURMINDUP, who completed a double at Newbury at the start of the month. Given that he has further scope for improvement over the larger obstacles, a subsequent 5lb rise might not be enough to stop him from landing the hat-trick. Recent Sandown scorer Rose Of Arcadia won't go down without a fight, though, and nor will Any News, who arrives having been on target at Exeter in October.
MAKIN'YOURMINDUP arrives on the up and looks the way to go here despite having a career-high mark to overcome. The consistent Rose of Arcadia rates the main danger to Paul Nicholls' hat-trick seeker, with Hudson de Grugy also weighted to have a say in this useful handicap.
Nicholls-trained 7yo MAKIN'YOURMINDUP firmly catches the eye but Any News and Rose Of Arcadia could be serious rivals.

1st (4) (5/2 -127%) Mirazur West |
5/2(-127%) | (4) Mirazur West 5/2, Promising type. 4/6 and hooded for 1st time, respectable 8½ lengths third of 6 to Fun Fun Fun in Kingsfurze Novices' Hurdle at Naas (15.5f, heavy) 21 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Solid claims. Yard also fields Tounsivator and Western Diego. Quite smart form, even better if getting more fluency in jumping and settling better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (100/1 -100%) Kilbarry Saint |
100/1(-100%) | (8) Kilbarry Saint 100/1, Fair hurdler. Career best when winning 16-runner handicap hurdle at Clonmel (16f, heavy, 10/3) 45 days ago, easily. Plenty to find on form. Scored off 95 in Clonmel handicap last month on heavy; this looks very ambitious. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (5/1 +29%) Western Diego |
5/1(+29%) | (7) Western Diego 5/1, Promising type. 1 win from 2 runs this season. Career best when winning 11-runner C&D novice hurdle (11/8) (heavy) 64 days ago, pushed out. Has to be feared. Impressive C&D maiden winner in January will relish a stamina test here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (40/1 -21%) Sporting Glory |
40/1(-21%) | (5) Sporting Glory 40/1, Thrice-raced winner in bumpers. Won 5-runner bumper here (2m, heavy, 3/1) 36 days ago, digging deep. Makes hurdles debut. Good recent bumper form here but set stiff enough task on hurdles debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (12/1 +14%) Fascile Mode |
12/1(+14%) | (3) Fascile Mode 12/1, Fairly useful hurdler. 40 lengths eighth of 10 to Ballyburn in Brave Inca Novices' Hurdle (40/1) at Leopardstown (16f, soft) 56 days ago. Others more persuasive. Form to be competitive but likely vulnerable to more progressive rivals. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (7/4 +30%) Tounsivator |
7/4(+30%) | (6) Tounsivator 7/4, Highly promising type. First run since leaving J. Reynier when winning 25-runner novice hurdle at Naas (15.6f, heavy, 7/2) on NH debut 35 days ago, cosily. Open to significant progress. Impressive recent maiden winner; smart prospect and could well be up to the task. |

7th (2) (14/1 -40%) Ataboycharlie |
14/1(-40%) | (2) Ataboycharlie 14/1, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Successful at Leopardstown in December. 11/2, fell in handicap hurdle there (16f, soft) 56 days ago. May well do better. Progressive handicapper steps up in class here; first time on heavy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (12/1 -20%) Angostura |
12/1(-20%) | (1) Angostura 12/1, Twice-raced winner over hurdles. 2/5, won 15-runner novice hurdle at Gowran (16f, heavy) 22 days ago. This is a steep rise in class but he's clearly promising. Ready Gowran winner type to continue improving, especially given better jumping. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Willie Mullins holds a strong hand and MIRAZUR WEST may prove the pick of the Closutton trio. The Westerner full brother to Ferny Hollow has always been held in high regard and easily made all in a Naas bumper last spring. He's raced very keenly on all three hurdle starts this term but still won easily over C&D in January and was placed behind Fun Fun Fun in a Naas Grade 3 last time. Tounsivator won twice on the Flat in France and made a successful start over hurdles for current connections when overcoming a mistake at the last to beat Rainbow Trail (won since) in a 25-runner Naas maiden. Western Diego also made all in a maiden over C&D while Angostura easily landed the odds at Gowran last time.
Willis Mullins boasts a terrific record in this race and saddles three strong candidates in TOUNSIVATOR, Mirazur West and Western Diego this time round. Preference is for the first-named, who was successful twice on the Flat in France and he looked good when getting the better of next-time-out winner Rainbow Trail and 23 others on his hurdles debut at Naas. Mirazur West is better than he was able to show when failing to land the odds last time and is second choice ahead of Western Diego.
Willie Mullins holds a strong hand here with TOUNSIVATOR selected ahead of Mirazur West and Western Diego

25/1(-79%) | (6) Thunderous Love 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 33/1, eighth of 12 in maiden at Kempton (8f), not knocked about. Off 172 days. Makes handicap debut. Uphill task. Best run on debut; off since October and the market may guide on this handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
JUST RITA caught the eye when filling fourth place on her handicap bow over 7f at Kempton a month ago. The daughter of Bated Breath was only beaten two lengths on that occasion, despite meeting with plenty of trouble in running, and she could make amends off the same mark here. Eccentric has to be of some interest following his narrow defeat at Wolverhampton, while Body Parts completes the shortlist.
ECCENTRIC is still well treated judged on his excellent second at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago, and looks the one to beat. Desert Raider is not discounted after a break on first start for a new stable, while Body Parts has recent C&D form.
This may be decided between BODY PARTS, Eccentric and Cuban Fiesta, who are preferred in that order.

40/1(-21%) | (6) Millford Sound 40/1, Fair maiden hurdler for Peter Fahey in 2021 but his comeback display on debut for this yard at Hereford was devoid of promise, even allowing for the fact that he was returning from a 17-month absence. Ex-Irish; promise over hurdles but pulled up after a long break on stable debut in Feb. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Although Mammies Boy was quite taking when opening his account at Taunton last month, he's effectively racing off a 17lb higher mark with no 7lb conditional in the plate this time. With that in mind, it could be worth taking a chance on the unexposed KING OF THE ROAD. Ben Pauling's charge proved disappointing on his handicap bow when only ninth, but there is a sneaking suspicion that this quicker ground could prompt an improved performance. Any market support for Garitsa Bay would also be interesting.
Not so competitive as the numbers suggest and GOD'S OWN GETAWAY is worth siding with to build on previous promise under these less testing conditions and capitalise on a handy-looking mark. Easy Taunton scorer Mammies Boy rates the obvious danger, while handicap-debutants Geordie Night and Sauce of Life warrant respect too.
Dual bumper winner SAUCE OF LIFE can show that his opening mark of 105 is generous by winning this after a break of 853 days.

LIVELY CITIZEN has shown that he retains plenty of ability this year, most recently when finishing an admirable seventh in the Imperial Cup at Sandown, and eased 1lb with his sights lowered, he can return to winning ways. Just Over Land could only manage fourth when a warm order to supplement a facile Lingfield victory at Taunton, but he must not be written off just yet. Byzantine Empire looks thrown in judging by his chasing mark and he is worth a look on his first start for a new stable.
LIVELY CITIZEN was in the hunt for a long way in the Imperial Cup 3 weeks ago and has a big shout back down in class. Just Over Land is feared most ahead of Lelant.

25/1(-56%) | (7) Hands Of Gold 25/1, Eighth of 10 in handicap chase (14/1) at Naas (20f, heavy) 35 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Tough to assess at present. Failed over fences this season and best watched on his return to flights. |

9th (9) (25/1 +24%) Double Pink |
25/1(+24%) | (9) Double Pink 25/1, Latest win in hurdle at Wexford in November. 33/1, respectable sixth of 19 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (18f, soft) 56 days ago, left with too much to do. Possibilities. Ran a decent race in a Listed mares handicap at Leopardstown last month; 3lb wrong. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
Having finished a creditable third in the Boyne Hurdle, DA CAPO GLORY was far from disgraced in the Coral Cup next time out. The son of Fame And Glory can now take advantage of using his Irish handicap mark and, in a less-competitive heat, he could regain the winning sequence. Top-weight Ashdale Bob makes significant appeal with 7lb claimer Conor Smithies aboard, while Shadow Rider, who bolted up at Fairyhouse in February, remains in contention, despite a 10lb hike in the ratings.
CHOSEN WITNESS appeals as a likely improver now going into handicaps on the back of a taking Thurles novice success so edges the vote in this competitive handicap. Coral Cup seventh Da Capo Glory brings rock solid claims and rates the chief threat to Willie Mullins' low-mileage 7-y-o, although a case can also be made for Shadow Rider, Any Road and Lucky Zebo.
The selection is SHADOW RIDER(nap), who may have got away lightly with a 10lb penalty for his Fairyhouse win. He can score again

1st (11) (6/1 +40%) Our Champ |
6/1(+40%) | (11) Our Champ 6/1, Winner of handicaps over C&D and Cheltenham on first 2 outings for Chris Gordon. His progress has stalled since but he made a sound return from wind surgery (also tongue tied) when seventh of 21 in Betfair at Newbury and his stable's good record in this affords him plenty of respect. Course winner; first run after a wind op when running well for a long way in the Betfair. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (9) (16/1 -100%) Mr Freedom |
16/1(-100%) | (9) Mr Freedom 16/1, Most consistent sort in the main who produced another likeable display when landing 6-runner C&D handicap at the start of the month. It was always going to be a big ask for him under a penalty in the County at Cheltenham since and he hasn't finished out of the first 3 in his 4 outings over C&D. Likeable 5yo but off his current mark he could be vulnerable to others better in. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (13) (10/1 -11%) Tapley |
10/1(-11%) | (13) Tapley 10/1, Returned to form with a bang when bagging 2m Kempton handicap in November and has remained in good form since, resuming winning ways at Fakenham (2m again) 16 days ago. No reason why this former C&D winner won't give his running but he is 5 lb higher in a stronger race now. Bang in form and consistent, but he might be vulnerable in this strong a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (12/1 -20%) Gin Coco |
12/1(-20%) | (3) Gin Coco 12/1, Lightly-raced 8-y-o who showed benefit of his reappearance when taking 2m Ascot handicap hurdle in November. Freshened up since finishing down the field at Doncaster the following month but others more appealing on balance. Record fresh is encouraging, as is the drying ground; should make presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (12) (5/1 +0%) Rare Middleton |
5/1(+0%) | (12) Rare Middleton 5/1, Firmly back on the up in a first-time tongue tie (retained) when impressive winner of 2m Doncaster handicap (good to soft) in December. Might have been kept fresh for a spring campaign since and his top trainer does well in this race. Comfortable winner at Doncaster in December and a 6lb rise could have been worse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (4/1 +33%) Aucunrisque |
4/1(+33%) | (1) Aucunrisque 4/1, Betfair Hurdle winner in 2023 and good third in this last year. Few efforts of note since (well held in Lanzarote at Kempton latest) but is well treated if staging a revival in a race the stable is no stronger to success in. Not having a great season but first and third in the last two renewals of this race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (15/2 -7%) Teddy Blue |
15/2(-7%) | (6) Teddy Blue 15/2, Free-goer who won this last year before finishing second in the Swinton. Back on form in competitive events over longer trips on his last 2 outings and more than capable off this mark if on a going day. Has his quirks but won this last year and his latest Ascot fourth was a positive show. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (12/1 +14%) Too Friendly |
12/1(+14%) | (2) Too Friendly 12/1, On the up for current yard during the summer, winning three 2m handicap hurdles. His progress over hurdles stalled at the end of 2023 but returned from a break to win on AW Flat at Kempton recently. Not discounted. Five hurdle wins and successful on the AW recently; considered with a 7lb claimer booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (10) (18/1 -80%) Moveit Like Minnie |
18/1(-80%) | (10) Moveit Like Minnie 18/1, Posted significant improvement when winning 2m handicaps at Ludlow and Huntingdon. Good fourth to Lucia in a warm race at Ascot before Christmas but he needs to bounce back from a lesser run in the Betfair at Newbury. Ran just okay in the Betfair but he's a player on his previous fourth at Ascot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (14) (22/1 +33%) Inferno Sacree |
22/1(+33%) | (14) Inferno Sacree 22/1, Three of his 5 wins in the first half of 2023 came here. Respectable in-frame efforts on his last 2 outings and he has dropped back to his last successful mark. Front-runner who is well suited to this track but tends to do his winning at a lower level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (10/1 -43%) Knickerbockerglory |
10/1(-43%) | (4) Knickerbockerglory 10/1, Typically went with plenty of zest when an impressive winner on Ascot return in November. Has run creditably on 2 of 3 starts since, no extra only from last when fifth of 16 in Imperial Cup at Sandown latest. Cheekpieces on first time. Top yard always to be feared in valuable handicap hurdles. Faced some tough tasks; now in cheekpieces but would prefer softer ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (18/1 -13%) Brookie |
18/1(-13%) | (8) Brookie 18/1, Fairly useful hurdler/chaser in Ireland and won handicap hurdles on 2 of his 3 starts for Anthony Honeyball. Not in the same form when a well-held fourth at Kempton over Christmas and has first-time blinkers added to his tongue strap on this first outing since. 2-4 for this yard but well held in his latest run; blinkers will need to make a difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (20/1 -43%) Parramount |
20/1(-43%) | (5) Parramount 20/1, Had an excellent first season over hurdles, winning 3 times. Probably best to overlook final 2 starts at Aintree/Haydock and comes here on the back of 2 placed efforts on AW Flat this year. Fair runs on the AW of late; 8lb higher than his winning mark but not dismissed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
Teddy Blue landed the corresponding event 12 months ago from a 3lb lower mark and he must be respected in a bid to retain his crown, but a chance is taken on RARE MIDDLETON. He was able to put it all together when winning at Doncaster in December on just his third run in a handicap and looks set to continue his improvement in the retained tongue-tie. Gin Coco and Knickerbockerglory make plenty of appeal from their current handicap marks and must be taken seriously.
A really good renewal of this valuable handicap. RARE MIDDLETON had plenty in hand at Doncaster when last seen in December and is taken to provide Paul Nicholls with a fourth win in this race since 2015. Chris Gordon is another who has a fine record in this and his Our Champ heads the many dangers along with Knickerbockerglory and last year's winner Teddy Blue.
A whole host of these have chances but GIN COCO (nap) is classy on his day and, with a good record fresh, he has to be strong interest.

4/1(-33%) | (1) Figaroc 4/1, Good third of 11 in handicap chase at Gowran (16f, heavy, 8/1) 22 days ago, not knocked about. Top yard has saddled the winner of the last two runnings of this and he's one for the shortlist. Recent Gowran handicap debut third; more needed. |

4th (2) (10/1 -11%) The King Of Prs |
10/1(-11%) | (2) The King Of Prs 10/1, 3 wins from 8 runs this season. 22/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, fell in handicap chase at Cheltenham (15.9f, heavy) 18 days ago. Stable in good form. Others more persuasive. Grand Annual faller drops in grade here so don't rule out. |

5th (3) (12/1 -20%) Pats Choice |
12/1(-20%) | (3) Pats Choice 12/1, 3 wins from 13 runs this season. Latest win in chase at Naas in January. 11/1, below form fifth of 11 in handicap chase at Gowran (16f, heavy) 22 days ago. Not taken lightly. Enjoyed good season in handicaps but held by the handicapper of late. |

6th (4) (12/1 +0%) Cadatharla |
12/1(+0%) | (4) Cadatharla 12/1, Useful winner at 19f over hurdles. 14/1, good fourth of 10 in novice chase at Leopardstown (17f, heavy) 27 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Makes handicap chase debut. May well do better. Hasn't looked a natural jumper of fences so far; likely more to offer entering handicaps. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (2/1 +0%) Hurricane Cliff |
2/1(+0%) | (7) Hurricane Cliff 2/1, Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. 16/1, career best when winning 8-runner handicap chase at Limerick (17.5f, heavy) 21 days ago, driven out. Shortlist material. Benefited from fallers when winning well at Limerick; 9lb rise but expected to go close. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (16/1 +20%) Skippin Court |
16/1(+20%) | (8) Skippin Court 16/1, Fairly useful winner at 20f over hurdles. Creditable fourth of 10 in handicap chase at Leopardstown (17f, good to soft, 12/1) 96 days ago. Looks vulnerable for win purposes. Encouraging handicap debut at Leopardstown; capable of going well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MOUNT FRISCO had Figaroc seven lengths back in third with Pats Choice well adrift in fifth when runner-up to the progressive Whiskeywealth in a similar Listed handicap chase at Gowran Park earlier this month. The selection, who won both over fences and hurdles in January, has been given a typical aggressive campaign by John Ryan and was far from disgraced behind Mister Policeman last time in a Grade 3 novice chase at Thurles. Hurricane Cliff has been raised 9lb after an ultimately clearcut win at Limerick where a number of rivals fell in the straight, while Skippin Court comes here fresh after a creditable effort at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting.
HURRICANE CLIFF opened his chase account in good style at Limerick three weeks ago and looks capable of defying a 9 lb rise in the weights. He gets the nod ahead of Figaroc, who was behind Mount Frisco at Gowran earlier this month but he is 2 lb better off with that rival now and may well emerge as the main danger this time. Pats Choice was back in fifth in that Gowran handicap but would be a threat were he to put his best foot forward.
Limerick winner HURRICANE CLIFF is taken to follow up here off a 9lb higher mark

Creditable 3¾ lengths fourth of 11 to Drakeholes in minor event (20/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 9 days ago. Plenty to find on form. 12/1(-50%) | (9) Written Broadcast 12/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 22 runs last year. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. 15/2, very good second of 9 in minor event at this C&D 15 days ago. Merits consideration. Close second in C&D classified event last time; 8lb below last winning mark; respected. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
CATHERINE CHROI arrives here on the back of two wins in the last 10 days and a 5lb penalty for the most recent of those victories may not be enough to stop her now. Drakeholes is an obvious threat following his success in a classified event at Newcastle, while Higher Law and Written Broadcast are others who merit places on the shortlist in an open affair.
CATHERINE CHROI is right at the top of her game and, with a promising claimer taking 7 lb off, she's worth siding with as she bids to complete the hat-trick. Drakeholes and Inexplicable look the chief dangers.
On the back of an encouraging C&D effort, WRITTEN BROADCAST could well go one better. Kodebreaker is second choice.

|PU| (5) (11/1 -10%) Dunworley |
11/1(-10%) | (5) Dunworley 11/1, Made the frame in several points. Fair second on completed start in hunters last summer for Richard Pinger but well held after 9 months off in Southwell maiden hurdle for new stable. Needs to take a big step forward. Lacks solid claims but this is his handicap debut, with a marked drop in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Having found only a resurgent rival too strong over C&D recently, SUPERSTYLIN looks ready to land a race of this nature. A 1lb rise in the ratings is more than fair for Suzy Smith's charge and the seven-year-old should take all of the beating if coping with the relatively quick turnaround. The biggest danger is Grain D'oudairies, who is entitled to build on his fourth-placed chase bow at Ayr in January, while Will Sting is noted too.
SUPERSTYLIN has made a bright start to life over fences and is fancied to resume winning ways on the back of his excellent recent C&D second. Will Sting is weighted to go well too if on his A-game, while Grain d'Oudairies is another who can have a say if bouncing back to his best.
The most solid option appears to be SUPERSTYLIN (nap) who will have a huge shout if he reproduces the form shown over C&D 11 days ago.

However, it still remains early days for him in this sphere and blinkers/tongue strap are applied. No forlorn hope. |PU| (1) (12/1 -60%) Easy Bucks |
12/1(-60%) | (1) Easy Bucks 12/1, Made light of a 15-month absence when making a winning debut for John Joseph Hanlon at Punchestown but not quite as much promise in a trio of outings since rejoining Peter Bowen. Others appeal more. Won in Ireland in January but not in same form since rejoining Peter Bowen. |

|PU| (3) (22/1 -22%) Mister Bo |
22/1(-22%) | (3) Mister Bo 22/1, Bumper winner in Ireland and fair form on best run over hurdles for Henry de Bromhead. However, failed to complete in 3 starts over hurdles/fences for new stable. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Pulled up on all three stable starts this season; big leap of faith needed to support him. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
BALLYRASHANE comfortably accounted for some modest opponents at Fakenham and it would come as no surprise to see him lead this field a merry dance too. The Christian Williams-trained seven-year-old was put up 4lb for that all-the-way success, but has more than enough scope to handle the rise on just his third start over fences. Easy Bucks takes a drop in class and is respected at this level, while Wonder Of The Seas has shown ability in this discipline and is another potential improver.
WONDER OF THE SEAS is built for chasing and fancied to take a step forward from his recent Leicester second (form been franked) and get off the mark. Point-scorer Ballyrashane also looks to have better days ahead of him and rates a big threat though, with the returning Dentley de Mee another to consider off a handy-looking mark.
He's been off the track for over a year but DENTLEY DE MEE ran some good races in defeat over C&D last season and is on a good mark.

5/2(-25%) | (3) Lovely Reaction 5/2, 6/1, career best when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (20f, heavy) 27 days ago. Longer trip shouldn't pose a problem and she's fancied to go in again. Wide margin winner over 2m4f at Leopardstown last time; should be involved if staying. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (14/1 -17%) Duffys Getaway |
14/1(-17%) | (4) Duffys Getaway 14/1, 22/1, eighth of 12 in novice chase at Thurles (20.8f, soft) on debut over fences 26 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles. Cheekpieces back on. Others more persuasive. Was 2nd off 102 at Fairyhouse in January; didn't jump well on chasing debut last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (2/1 +0%) Jerk |
2/1(+0%) | (1) Jerk 2/1, Career best when winning 12-runner handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (24f, heavy, 17/2) 27 days ago, always holding on. Progressing well recently and merits plenty of respect. Won over this trip at Leopardstown in similar conditions; up 8lb but surely more to give. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (7/1 -17%) Thedancingfarrier |
7/1(-17%) | (8) Thedancingfarrier 7/1, 12/1, improved to win 14-runner handicap hurdle at this course (24.3f, heavy) 10 days ago. Booking of Shinnick a plus. Another bold show likely. Won his third race at this track last time; raised 5lb for that but has to be considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (22/1 -38%) Whatucallher |
22/1(-38%) | (2) Whatucallher 22/1, First run since leaving Eddie & Patrick Harty when 33/1, fell in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (23.7f, soft) 55 days ago. Fell four out on return from a long absence last time; enough to prove at present. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There was a lot to like about the manner in which LOVELY REACTION asserted herself when she was asked to win the race at Leopardstown at the start of this month and a 9lb higher mark might not prevent the mare from following up here. That performance reads well in the context of the task in hand here and although Jerk and Thedancingfarrier also rate highly on the back of successful performances, neither caught the eye as much as the selection.
LOVELY REACTION was quite impressive at Leopardstown last time and the longer trip could bring more out of her, so she's to fellow last-time-out winner Jerk, who is also going the right way. Thedancingfarrier can't be ruled out.
Preference is for JERK, who relished this trip at Leopardstown last time in similar conditions and can defy an 8lb hike.

1st (8) (11/2 +0%) Fame And Fun |
11/2(+0%) | (8) Fame And Fun 11/2, Dual 19f hurdles scorer last season who signed off with a solid fifth of 13 in handicap at Taunton (19f, soft) in April. However, hasn't convinced in 2 starts over fences since returning to action in October. Yet to shine over fences but may improve as he gains in confidence and his mark is okay. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (7/2 -5%) I See You Well |
7/2(-5%) | (1) I See You Well 7/2, Something of a course specialist, winning 5 times over fences here. Solid showing over hurdles here recently and this looks very winnable, so he's worth chancing. Questionable what he achieved back hurdling last time; had been struggling over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (11/2 -22%) Star Flyer |
11/2(-22%) | (6) Star Flyer 11/2, Winner in chase at Southwell in February. Fourth of 6 in handicap chase (5/1) at Taunton (23f, heavy) 31 days ago. Not one to write off given how well he jumped at Southwell. Poor last time but he'd look good in the new cheekpieces the time before. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (12/1 -20%) Fairway Freddy |
12/1(-20%) | (7) Fairway Freddy 12/1, Good third of 7 in handicap chase at Huntingdon on penultimate outing but was let down by jumping at Hereford since. Needs to bounce back after a break. Pulled up after a 62-day break at Hereford and now returns from a similar one.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (7/2 +0%) Rocky Lake |
7/2(+0%) | (5) Rocky Lake 7/2, Winning hurdler who has yet to progress from a promising debut in this sphere, again below form at Hereford a couple of months ago. Needs to bounce back after a break. Has been all over the shop trip-wise and cheekpieces did nothing for him last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (8/1 +20%) I Shut That D'or |
8/1(+20%) | (4) I Shut That D'or 8/1, Fairly useful winning hurdler who has completely lost his way over fences, regularly making errors, so others are more persuasive. Going the wrong way but has won a race; much depends on what effect a wind op has had. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (16/1 -14%) Luckofthedraw |
16/1(-14%) | (3) Luckofthedraw 16/1, Back to winning ways at Huntingdon (19.9f, 3 runners) a year ago but ended the campaign out of sorts and hasn't been seen for 10 months. Beat two rivals in March and hasn't fared so well since in deeper races; bit to prove. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
I See You Well returned to form with a solid second over hurdles earlier this month, but this drop in distance may be enough to prevent the veteran from regaining the winning thread. With that in mind, it may be worth taking a chance on I SHUT THAT D'OR. Although Joe Tizzard's inmate hasn't progressed as expected during his novice chase campaign, a subsequent wind procedure may unlock his true potential. Star Flyer could also prove dangerous if dictating the pace.
Veteran I SEE YOU WELL loves it round here and the bulk of his opponents have a bit to prove, so he's worth siding with over Star Flyer, who is a big player if back to the sort of form he showed at Southwell on his penultimate outing. Inedit de Mee can't be dismissed having his first go over the larger obstacles.
A chance is taken on FAME AND FUN coming good at just the third time of asking over fences, as his handicap mark is fine.

1st (4) (11/8 +27%) Spillane's Tower |
11/8(+27%) | (4) Spillane's Tower 11/8, Notched second success in this sphere when outpointing Blood Destiny in a Punchestown Grade 3 in January. Beaten 6½ lengths by that rival in the Flyingbolt at Navan (2m, heavy) since but meets that rival on 7 lb better terms here and, moreover, this step back up in trip looks a good move. Failed to confirm previous form with Blood Destiny over 2m last time, should go close. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (9/1 -50%) Tactical Move |
9/1(-50%) | (5) Tactical Move 9/1, Hasn't done much wrong since switched to fences, chasing home stablemate Nick Rockett on chase debut here in January and has hit the target at Gowran and Naas since. Should make his presence felt. Has rewarded the patience of connections with two wins in recent months, can hold his own. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (2/1 -14%) Blood Destiny |
2/1(-14%) | (1) Blood Destiny 2/1, Smart hurdler who resumed his progress over fences with victory in the Flyingbolt at Navan (2m, heavy) 29 days ago, proving 6½ lengths too strong for Spillane's Tower. Jumps really well and open to further improvement. Reversed previous form with Spillane's Tower at Navan, may prevail again in the rematch. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (20/1 -25%) Thecompanysergeant |
20/1(-25%) | (6) Thecompanysergeant 20/1, Useful hurdler who was in the process of matching that level of form when departing at the last at Leopardstown (17f, heavy) on debut over fences earlier this month. Confirmed that promise when second in a Thurles Grade 3 recently but this is much tougher. Solid run against an odds-on shot in a four-runner contest at Thurles, tough task here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (10/1 -43%) Zanahiyr |
10/1(-43%) | (7) Zanahiyr 10/1, Very smart winning hurdler who got off the mark over fences in 2m maiden at Thurles last month, despite making some mistakes. By no means disgraced when fourth of 11 in the Turners Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival since and he merits respect. Best of the Irish when fourth in the Turners at Cheltenham, not out of his depth here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (2) (33/1 +0%) Flanking Maneuver |
33/1(+0%) | (2) Flanking Maneuver 33/1, Opened chase account over 21.5f here in October. Well adrift of Blood Destiny and Spillane's Tower in the Flyingbolt at Navan (16f, heavy, 16/1) on penultimate start, though, and he was a first-fence faller at Naas last time. Won beginners' event over a longer trip here on seasonal debut, limitations evident since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (3) (12/1 +0%) Saint Felicien |
12/1(+0%) | (3) Saint Felicien 12/1, Smart hurdler who has quickly reached a similar level over fences this season, off the mark at the fourth attempt in a Gowran maiden (2½m, heavy) last month. Didn't get the chance to show what he can do at the Cheltenham Festival since and further progress possible. Second to Tactical Move at Gowran before win at the same venue, brought down at Cheltenham. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
The score is 1-1 between BLOOD DESTINY and Spillane's Tower over fences this season with the latter having come out on top over just short of 2m4f in a Grade 3 at Punchestown but the places were decisively reversed over two miles at Navan earlier this month. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding appreciated a more patient ride at Navan and despite a 7lb swing at the weights and the longer trip, is fancied to again come out on top. Stablemate Tactical Move beat Saint Felicien over this distance at Gowran, although it's interesting that Jack Kennedy rides the latter in favour of Zanahiyr, the pick of these over hurdles and a creditable fourth in the Turners Novices' Chase at Cheltenham.
The head-to-head between SPILLANE'S TOWER and Blood Destiny stands at 1-1 and they could be the pair to concentrate on. The latter represents the all-conquering Willie Mullins yard (responsible for the last five winners of this Grade 1 contest) and he is not passed over at all lightly. However, Spillane's Tower appeared to find 2m too sharp in the Flyingbolt and he has a good chance of turning the tables on the winner here. Saint Felicien remains open to improvement and he is third choice.
Having reversed previous form with Spillane's Tower last time, BLOODY DESTINY gets the vote to confirm his superiority.

10/1(-43%) | (7) Bluebells Boy 10/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Respectable third of 7 in classified event at this course (6f) 10 days ago. Not taken lightly. Record is only 1-17 but he's on a workable mark returned to handicap level. |

7/1(-27%) | (5) Outreach 7/1, Winner at Wolverhampton in December. Good third of 11 in handicap (5/1) at Wolverhampton (7f) 12 days ago. Merits consideration. Close third at Wolverhampton last time; fighting chance, provided he takes to Southwell. |

5/1(-11%) | (4) Marcello Si 5/1, Winner over 7f and 1m at Newcastle in January. 15/8, creditable second of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (7f) 19 days ago. Shortlisted. Late-bloomer who ran creditably behind a subsequent scorer last time; likely player. |

8th (10) (11/1 +0%) Ok Pal |
11/1(+0%) | (10) Ok Pal 11/1, 15/2, creditable sixth of 12 in classified event at Wolverhampton (7f) 29 days ago. 0-5 for current yard but ran well under Hollie Doyle in January. |

50/1(+0%) | (12) Legal Mind 50/1, Remains a maiden after 19 Flat starts. 150/1, fifth of 6 in classified event at Lingfield (6f) 24 days ago. 11yo maiden who holds weak claims on 2024 form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (9) (16/1 +0%) Sumac |
16/1(+0%) | (9) Sumac 16/1, Remains a maiden after 20 starts. Seventh of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford (6f, 22/1) 22 days ago. Peak effort when second over C&D four starts ago; record is 0-20. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
In what looks a trappy affair on paper, it may pay to side with the largely consistent BROTHER DAVE. Ruth Carr's charge came from last to first with a sweeping run in a classified race over C&D earlier this month and, pitched back into handicap company, he can bring up the double. Marcello Si arrives on the back of a creditable second at Newcastle and may prove the main danger off an unchanged mark. Jems Bond ran on well for third over 6f and can make his presence felt stepping back up in trip.
A repeat of the form BROTHER DAVE showed to win a C&D classified race a fortnight ago might be good enough to see him follow up back in a handicap. Bluebells Boy, Outreach and Marcello Si head the dangers.
In-form BROTHER DAVE (nap) is taken to build on his C&D success and follow up. Marcello Si is second choice.

1st (1) (9/4 +0%) Mylesfromwicklow |
9/4(+0%) | (1) Mylesfromwicklow 9/4, Cost six figures after winning an Irish point and made a successful chasing debut at Huntingdon in November. Below form at Sandown last time, but he was ridden more patiently that day and he can bounce back returned to this grade with tongue tie applied. Needs to bounce back from a lesser show when upped in class at Sandown three weeks ago. |

2nd (2) (11/4 -10%) Ukantango |
11/4(-10%) | (2) Ukantango 11/4, Dual novice hurdle winner who was also runner-up in Cheltenham Grade 2 last season. Left his chasing debut form behind when second at Wetherby in November, but failed to repeat that effort at Doncaster a month later. Goes up in trip with tongue strap added (has had wind op). Third chase; has had wind surgery, tongue-tie is added and this is a much longer trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (9/2 -13%) Let's Go Joe |
9/2(-13%) | (4) Let's Go Joe 9/2, Runner-up in a point before making a winning hurdles bow for new yard in maiden at Sedgefield in November. However, disappointing on next 2 starts and offered little sent chasing when well held at Ayr 22 days ago. Has work to do back up in trip. Won hurdle debut (2m4f, soft) but a bit disappointing since, on chase debut latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (9/4 +0%) Harjo |
9/4(+0%) | (3) Harjo 9/4, Irish point winner who was a ready winner on second chase start at Wincanton in December. Let down by jumping when pulled up at Wetherby next time, but soon back on track when second to a chasing debutant at Hereford 22 days ago. Respected with cheekpieces on first time. Won at Wincanton; flopped next time but ran creditably latest; cheekpieces are added. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
UKANTANGO has shown promise on his last couple of starts over 2m and the seven-year-old may improve having had a wind operation since his last appearance. The application of a first-time tongue-tie could also help, while the step up in trip is another potential positive. Harjo looks to be the main threat following his second at Hereford, while Mylesfromwicklow is next best.
Having made the frame on his first 3 starts in chases, MYLESFROMWICKLOW ran below par in a premier handicap at Sandown on his latest outing, but he is well worth another chance as he drops back down in grade. He is preferred to Harjo, who quickly left behind a lesser effort when runner-up at Hereford earlier this month.
Two of his last three performances earn HARJO the vote in his first-time cheekpieces and Mylesfromwicklow looks the chief threat.

6/4(+20%) | (2) J'aime El Mars 6/4, From a good family and made a pleasing start when runner-up at Southwell 13 days ago. Type to progress from that and worth chancing to go one better. Stayed on strongly from poor position to go close on debut at Southwell; can improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (33/1 +0%) Wing West |
33/1(+0%) | (7) Wing West 33/1, Wings of Eagles gelding. Dam (h70), 2¾m hurdle winner, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 21f) Octagon. First foal from a low-grade hurdle winner; stable 0-34 in bumpers during last five seasons. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The betting can shed a revealing light on the chances of a few of these, with point-to-point seconds Potters Charm and King Of Thieves both suggested as ones to monitor closely. However, J'AIME EL MARS, who was only denied by half a length in a similar race at Southwell on his debut 13 days ago, has an edge in terms of experience in this sphere and is readily suggested as the first one to place on the shortlist.
J'AME EL MARS showed plenty on debut and his stable is still flying, so he gets the nod over Andy Amo, who also arrives on the back of a promising start. Potters Charm is another to consider.
Inexperience probably cost J'AIME EL MARS the race on his recent Southwell debut but he will hopefully be more streetwise here.

100/1(+0%) | (9) Justgetonwithit 100/1, Twice-raced maiden. 150/1, ninth of 10 in bumper at Punchestown (16f, good to soft). Off 13 months. Has beaten one rival in two bumper starts and makes no appeal here. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
There is a tried and trusted formula being put to the test here as Willie Mullins sends out an unraced individual who boasts a live chance of making a winning debut on paper. A 95,000 euros-purchase, JACKSON WOOD is the one to fly the flag for the Closutton powerhouse yard and the son of Al Namix is too difficult to ignore. Churchroad Prince showed promise on his hurdling debut at Punchestown in January and has to be of interest back in this sphere, while Donnie Devito is another potential improver to bear in mind.
JACKSON WOOD might not be as well bred as some of his stable's string but he should be well forward and this won't take much winning, so he gets the nod over Churchroad Prince, who ran well in a novice hurdle at Punchestown last time.
Preference is for CHURCHROAD PRINCE, possibly unlucky to be beaten in a 2m7f maiden hurdle at Punchestown in January

1st (3) (7/2 +0%) Emailandy |
7/2(+0%) | (3) Emailandy 7/2, Third in a bumper in the spring and built on that to make a successful start over hurdles in 20.5f novice at this track in November. Has shown better form in defeat subsequently, including when third in 17-runner handicap at Sandown last time. Merits plenty of respect. Placed in the EBF Final last time and progressive enough to cope with the 2lb rise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (7/1 -27%) Whatsupwithyou |
7/1(-27%) | (7) Whatsupwithyou 7/1, 10/1, improved to win 10-runner handicap hurdle at Ludlow (21.2f, soft) 102 days ago, staying on well. Merits consideration. Ludlow win just before Christmas hasn't worked out too badly; rated higher in the past. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (20/1 +0%) Alien Storm |
20/1(+0%) | (9) Alien Storm 20/1, Won 2m Plumpton novice last term and has generally held form since, albeit his latest run at Kempton was a rare poor effort. Others more persuasive. Poor last time but his previous two runs in fair handicaps were encouraging. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (8/1 +0%) Tightenourbelts |
8/1(+0%) | (1) Tightenourbelts 8/1, Maiden hurdle winner who made the perfect start to his chase career in a Ludlow novice handicap (2½m, soft) in November. Improved again when third to Hermes Allen in Newbury Gr. 2 next start and whilst he's disappointed in good company since, this return to handicapping could help. Smart chaser who could do some damage back over hurdles in a race of this nature. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (10/1 -25%) Ilovethenightlife |
10/1(-25%) | (2) Ilovethenightlife 10/1, Scopey sort who raised her game when landing the EBF Mares' Final at Newbury last March. Raised her game further this year when winning 7-runner handicap here (25f) in January but underwhelming since. Not ruled out. Four hurdle wins from 2m to 3m1f; latest run was too bad to be true; career-high mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (11/1 +0%) Small Bad Bob |
11/1(+0%) | (10) Small Bad Bob 11/1, Fair winning hurdler/chaser for Paul Henderson and struck over hurdles at just the second time of asking for new trainer Chris Gordon here in October. Not in same form at Kempton next time but can bounce back after a break. Well held at Kempton last time but this is more his scene. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (12/1 +64%) Perseus Way |
12/1(+64%) | (8) Perseus Way 12/1, Dual winner on the Flat who quickly developed into a useful juvenile hurdler for Gary Moore last season. Recorded 2 good placed efforts on Flat for Owen Burrows in the autumn but poor so far for current yard. Smart juvenile last season and might be glad to get away from heavy ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (6) (9/2 +0%) Mothill |
9/2(+0%) | (6) Mothill 9/2, Consistent type who produced a career-best effort to make it three from his last four in a 16-runner handicap at Ascot, showing a willing attitude. Every chance he'll go well again. Mark continues to rise but there's no knocking his Ascot form last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (7/2 -17%) Colours On Canvas |
7/2(-17%) | (4) Colours On Canvas 7/2, Right back on the up lately, completing a C&D double with a good deal to spare 20 days ago. Big chance of landing the hat-trick. Back-to-back C&D wins, both comfortable; up another 10lb in stronger company now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
First-time cheekpieces saw a career-best performance from last month's Ascot scorer MOTHILL. A 5lb rise in the ratings looks more than fair for landing that 16-runner affair and Neil Mulholland's charge is fancied to complete a double. Colours On Canvas warrants respect in his hat-trick bid over C&D, although a 10lb hike in the handicap will undoubtedly make life tougher for the five-year-old. Emailandy and Whatsupwithyou also merit a second look.
COLOURS ON CANVAS is thriving and makes plenty of appeal as he bids to complete a hat-trick over C&D. Emailandy and Mothill also arrive at the top of their game and strike as formidable threats in a competitive event.
Emailandy has strong claims but PERSEUS WAY was a smart juvenile last season who might be glad to see the back of heavy ground.

Dam unraced. Appears to be the Mullins-trained first-string judged on jockety bookings. Cost 130,000euros as a 3yo and is the pick of Patrick Mullins from yard's trio; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (25/1 -79%) Clap Of Thunder |
25/1(-79%) | (2) Clap Of Thunder 25/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 4½ lengths fifth of 9 to Royal Infantry in listed bumper (14/1) at Newbury (16.3f, soft) 50 days ago. This British raider is not without each-way hope. Solid runs in three UK bumpers but a surprise if was good enough to claim this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (10/1 -33%) Doctor Steinberg |
10/1(-33%) | (3) Doctor Steinberg 10/1, €95,000 3-y-o, Doctor Dino gelding. Half-brother to 5 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Bon Retour and fair hurdler Stay Humble, stayed 33f. Makes plenty of appeal on paper for top yard (also represented by Kopek Des Bordes and La Note Verte). Cost 95,000euros as a 3yo; is by a top French sire and respected though not yard selected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (13) (15/2 +38%) We're Red And Blue |

16/1(-60%) | (14) La Note Verte 16/1, €62,000 3-y-o, Australia filly. Dam 2m-21f hurdle/chase winner. It'll ne interesting to see how she shapes up in the betting. Cost 62,000euros as a 3yo; third runner for top yard but could still be a capable sort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (11/4 -22%) Butchers Bill |
11/4(-22%) | (1) Butchers Bill 11/4, €265,000 3-y-o, Kayf Tara gelding. Brother to bumper winner Romeo Coolio. Very much one to note on debut. Yard also saddles Spinola Bay. Cost a whopping 265,000euros as a 3yo; one of two runners for top yard; check the market. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (6) (66/1 +0%) Kentucky Beach |
66/1(+0%) | (6) Kentucky Beach 66/1, Nom De D'la gelding. Half-brother to 4 winners, including useful hurdler/high-class chaser Coko Beach and French 15f hurdle winner Coastal Beach. Dam 1¼m-12.5f winner. Wears hood. Unsold for 25,000euros as a 3yo; hood on for debut and others preferred. |

It'll be interesting to see what the market makes of his chances. Unsold for 11,500euros as a 3yo; second runner for top yard and worth a market comparison. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (4) (16/1 -60%) Frogman |
16/1(-60%) | (4) Frogman 16/1, Once-raced maiden. 17/2, fourth of 14 in bumper at Naas (16f, soft) on NH debut 79 days ago. Cost 17,000euros as a 3yo; beaten 15l on debut at Naas in January and can improve on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (15) (100/1 -52%) Spread The Faith |
100/1(-52%) | (15) Spread The Faith 100/1, Once-raced maiden. 50/1, last of 9 in bumper at Naas (15.5f, heavy) on NH debut 21 days ago. Tailed-off on recent debut at Naas and can't be fancied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (10) (66/1 -65%) Nearlybens |
66/1(-65%) | (10) Nearlybens 66/1, €16,000 3-y-o, Vadamos gelding. Half-brother to 2 winners, including fairly useful hurdler/chaser Zalvados. Watch the betting for clues. Cost 16,000euros as a 3yo; has a decent pedigree and could run well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
KOPEK DES BORDES is hardly an original choice from the powerful Mullins stable in a race where the market will provide vital clues as to the relative merits of these young prospects. Riding arrangements suggest he's preferred of the three newcomers from the yard and the half-brother to five winners cost 130,000 euros at the Derby Sale last June. Butchers Bill is a brother to Romeo Coolio and was another purchased at the Derby Sale for 265,000 euro while Gordon Elliott is also represented by Spinola Bay. We're Red And Blue was odds-on when winning on debut at Hereford while there is further UK interest with Clap Of Thunder who has shown promise on all three starts.
BUTCHERS BILL makes plenty of appeal on paper and it will look significant if the market speaks in his favour. He is marginally preferred to the Willie Mullins-trained newcomers Kopek Des Bordes, La Note Verte and Doctor Steinberg (in that order of preference), while British raiders Clap of Thunder and We're Red And Blue both have claims.
As usual, it should pay to focus on Willie Mullins' runners and KOPEK DES BORDES is the choice of Patrick Mullins from the stable

10/1(-11%) | (11) Secret Road 10/1, 5/1, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 23 days ago, not ideally placed. Drawn widest here. Generally consistent in AW handicaps; won off this mark in November; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (9/1 -29%) Airshow |
9/1(-29%) | (4) Airshow 9/1, C&D winner. 12/1, won 8-runner handicap at Chelmsford (7f) 17 days ago, just holding on. Only nudged up 2 lb for that. In-form 9yo; raised only 2lb for Chelmsford win; should remain competitive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (9) (9/2 -29%) Late Arrival |
9/2(-29%) | (9) Late Arrival 9/2, Won 10-runner C&D handicap 15 days ago, well on top finish. Has a 7 lb higher mark to contend with now and his draw could make life awkward. Scored comfortably over C&D two weeks ago; still well treated on historical data. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (13/2 -18%) Blazing Son |
13/2(-18%) | (5) Blazing Son 13/2, C&D winner. 11/2, good second of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) on reappearance 23 days ago. Should go well. Reappearance effort took his AW form figures to 13112; 1-1 at Southwell; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (6) (11/2 +31%) Hiatus |
11/2(+31%) | (6) Hiatus 11/2, C&D winner in January. 7/1, creditable third of 10 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 29 days ago, faring best of those held up. C&D winner in January; did well to finish third at Kempton last time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (10) (33/1 -106%) Bowman |
33/1(-106%) | (10) Bowman 33/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. First run since leaving Laura Mongan when seventh of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 12/1) 18 days ago, not knocked about. Lurking on a good mark. One to note in the betting. Recent 7f efforts suggest this return to 6f may suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (8/1 +43%) Cavalier Approach |
8/1(+43%) | (3) Cavalier Approach 8/1, Three wins from 10 runs last year, including tapeta. Should be competitive if fully primed for this first outing in 5 months. 2-4 for current yard and may do better still. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (12/1 -9%) Daytona Lady |
12/1(-9%) | (7) Daytona Lady 12/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Wolverhampton in January. Bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap (4/1) at Newcastle (6f) 16 days ago. Back on last winning mark and could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (12) (12/1 +25%) Lord Abama |
12/1(+25%) | (12) Lord Abama 12/1, Remains a maiden after 16 starts but is well treated on his peak form from last season. Worth keeping an eye on in the betting on reappearance. Still a maiden but starts this campaign on a reduced mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (6/1 +33%) Rodborough |
6/1(+33%) | (2) Rodborough 6/1, Three course wins but all over 5f. Respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at this course (5f, 10/3) 19 days ago. Could have a big say if as effective on a rare outing over 6f. Three-time course winner but has something to prove back at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (13) (14/1 -56%) Man On A Mission |
14/1(-56%) | (13) Man On A Mission 14/1, Latest win at Kempton in February. 6/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 18 days ago. Placed at Kempton last time; has form figures of 54232323 at Southwell; solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (1) (33/1 -106%) Yoshimi |
33/1(-106%) | (1) Yoshimi 33/1, Dual turf winner last summer. Eleventh of 12 in handicap (14/1) at Newcastle (7f) when last seen in October. Has won when fresh but may find this trip inadequate. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (8) (22/1 -38%) King Of Tonga |
22/1(-38%) | (8) King Of Tonga 22/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2022. Creditable third of 10 in handicap at Pontefract (6f, good to soft) when last seen in the autumn. Has a wide stall to overcome on reappearance. Place possibilities, provided he's as effective returned to AW. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LATE ARRIVAL comfortably accounted for a subsequent winner over C&D and the suspicion is that, off a 7lb higher mark, there is more winning to be done before the handicapper has his measure. Daytona Lady has run with more credit than the form book suggests on her last two starts and, back down to her last winning figure, it would be no surprise if she could get competitive. Hiatus acquitted himself well when third at Kempton and he has every chance of hitting the frame again off an unchanged mark.
BLAZING SON arrives on the back of a good reappearance run at Newcastle and might prove the answer to this competitive finale. Rodborough will be a big danger if her stamina holds back up at 6f. Airshow and Hiatus also make the shortlist.
Preference is for BLAZING SON, who should build on his reappearance effort. Late Arrival is second choice.

2/1(-14%) | (5) Wade Out 2/1, €20,000 3-y-o, Shantou gelding. Brother to useful hurdler Whatsupwithyou. Successful sole outing in Irish points (Nov 2023). Makes plenty of appeal for stable that does well in this sphere. Has a pretty useful jumps pedigree and won an Irish maiden point (3m, soft) in November. |

2nd (1) (2/1 +33%) Ace Of Spades |
2/1(+33%) | (1) Ace Of Spades 2/1, 25/1, fifth of 18 in bumper at Doncaster (16.6f, soft) on NH debut 81 days ago. Should have learned plenty from that and is open to improvement back from a break. 25-1 at Doncaster (good to soft) in January, making late headway from rear into 5th of 18. |

3rd (3) (10/1 -82%) Jubilant |
10/1(-82%) | (3) Jubilant 10/1, £40,000 5-y-o, Doctor Dino gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler Halibut. 4th (6) (9/2 -29%) Positivia |
9/2(-29%) | (6) Positivia 9/2, Related to a fairly useful hurdler but has some speed in her pedigree and made a pleasing start when runner-up at Sedgefield recently. Merits consideration. Flat bred but second of seven in bumper at Sedgefield (2m1f, soft) 19 days ago. |

5th (2) (15/2 -25%) Chantilly Moon |
15/2(-25%) | (2) Chantilly Moon 15/2, Related to a couple of winners and offered something to work on when fourth at Catterick 103 days ago. Could step forward from that. Weak 11-1 at Catterick (1m7f, good to soft) in December but showed some promise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (4) (40/1 +0%) My Mate Charlie |
40/1(+0%) | (4) My Mate Charlie 40/1, Garswood gelding. Half-brother to 11.5f/1½m winner Capla Huntress. Dam unraced. Flat bred; rare bumper runner for yard; probably best watched. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
WADE OUT won his sole start between the flags in Ireland last November and it would be no surprise to see the son of Shantou make a winning debut under Rules. Positivia showed plenty of promise on her racecourse bow at Sedgefield recently and she is entitled to improve for that experience, while Ace Of Spades and Jubilant are others to consider.
WADE OUT has already won a point and has joined shrewd connections that do well in bumpers, so he gets the nod over Ace of Spades, who shaped with encouragement at Doncaster on debut 81 days ago. Jubilant is another one to consider.
Wade Out and Jubilant were first and second respectively in Irish points. ACE OF SPADES is the pick of those with bumper form.

Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
