![]() Narragansett |
(3) 85/40(+58%) | (3) Narragansett 85/40, Fairly useful (and lightly-raced) winner on the Flat who, having found only one too good on first 2 hurdle runs, had little trouble landing cramped odds in a Plumpton maiden (15.9f) last month. Form to date has substance and interesting switched to handicaps. Hood retained. Ready Plumpton winner; closely matched with Melon on Wetherby form on previous outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Melon |
(1) 5/2(-11%) | (1) Melon 5/2, Lightly raced improver on Flat (14f winner) who was well on top finish when seeing off Narragansett to make it 2 wins from opening 3 starts in juvenile hurdles at Wetherby 44 days ago. In good hands and feasible to think he can progress further now handicapping. Form of latest Wetherby win is working out well; unexposed; major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lucky Bere |
(5) 9/2(+18%) | (5) Lucky Bere 9/2, Fair 1½m Flat winner in France and similar form when making frame all 3 starts in juvenile hurdles for new stable in recent months. Laid down solid foundations then with a view to stepping into handicaps and this stiffer track may well play to his strengths. Placed all three starts over hurdles, third at Warwick last time; should be thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Risk It All |
(6) 11/2(-10%) | (6) Risk It All 11/2, Easy winner of only start on Flat in France and promise amidst inexperience when third in a Kempton juvenile (2m) on stable debut in December. Raced freely when beaten at short odds in Plumpton novice 6 weeks ago but first-time hood can help now handicapping. Respected. Promising on debut and had possible excuse next time; interesting now tackling a handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Midnight Rumble |
(4) 10/1(-33%) | (4) Midnight Rumble 10/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat and posted fair form on 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles to date, fourth of 7 in juvenile hurdle at Warwick (16f, soft) 28 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut with some work to do, however. In frame last two starts but needs a personal best on today's handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Galactic Charm |
(2) 16/1(-167%) | (2) Galactic Charm 16/1, Fairly useful staying handicapper on Flat who posted a promising second on yard/hurdles bow over C&D in December. Didn't need to repeat that effort when going one place better at Fontwell later that month and this more suitable than Gr. 2 assignment latest. Cheekpieces back on for handicap bow. Fontwell winner; came up short in Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time; back in calmer waters. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Volakes |
(7) 25/1(-25%) | (7) Volakes 25/1, Mid-division at best in maiden/minor events on Flat for William Haggas. Some promise in pair of hurdle runs for new yard, shaping better than distance beaten suggests when third in mares' novice at Chepstow (2m) 39 days ago. Assessor has taken no chances with her opening mark, though. Beaten around 11l in two novice hurdles; makes handicap debut and could be unexposed. |
GALACTIC CHARM's yard has an excellent record in this race and is forwarded as the pick of Gary and Josh Moore's pair. The son of Sea The Moon faced a stiffer test when pulled up in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham most recently. However, his previous form was highly encouraging and, having routed the opposition at Fontwell on his previous start, he tops the shortlist. Melon has impressed since switching codes and is feared most. Narragansett completes the shortlist.
A lightly-raced, improving stayer on the Flat, MELON has essentially continued that theme over timber, making it 2 wins from 3 starts when fending off re-opposing Narragansett in a Wetherby juvenile in January. He looks sure to do better still now handicapping and is selected to come out on top. Lucky Bere and aforementioned Narragansett are others fancied to feature. Risk It All is also worth a look.
The one with the lowest mileage is RISK IT ALL and he gets the vote in the hope he can improve for the fitting of a hood.

![]() Musique De Fee |
(3) 3/1(+25%) | (3) Musique De Fee 3/1, Arrives in good nick, cheekpieces added when a running-on third of 8 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon 6 days ago. A likely player off an unchanged mark. Got going too late last week at Huntingdon (3m1f) but ran well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Heart Of Rome |
(8) 7/2(+71%) | (8) Heart Of Rome 7/2, Fair ex-Irish maiden hurdler for Paul Nolan. Sent off 9/4 for his new yard but only ninth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (20f, heavy) last time. Needs to bounce back in first-time tongue tie now. Ex-Irish maiden; fav and didn't run badly on yard debut; now in a tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Get Cracking |
(4) 4/1(+50%) | (4) Get Cracking 4/1, Got back on track with cheekpieces on for 1st time when fourth of 10 in handicap chase here (25.2f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Switches to hurdles for his handicap hurdle debut and one to consider. Good run over fences last time and now makes handicap debut as a hurdler. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Thirtyfour Thirty |
(1) 6/1(+76%) | (1) Thirtyfour Thirty 6/1, Bumper/hurdles winner but ended time with Anthony Charlton below par and no signs of a rejuvenation on the back of a stable switch at Chepstow last month. Well held on yard debut but today's drier ground should help; on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kentford Mallard |
(6) 9/1(-80%) | (6) Kentford Mallard 9/1, Veteran C&D winner who recorded a very good second of 6 in handicap hurdle at Sandown (16f, soft) 43 days ago. Significantly back up in trip and bold showing is on the cards off a 7 lb lower mark. Last race fell apart but it still a good run on ground too soft and over a trip too sharp. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Newtonian |
(9) 10/1(+50%) | (9) Newtonian 10/1, Got off the mark at Warwick last spring but well below par when gambled on there last time, coming in only 10th. More is required despite a falling mark. Soft ground probably not ideal the last twice and he's on a perfectly good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() One Man Party |
(10) 14/1(-75%) | (10) One Man Party 14/1, Poor maiden who ran his best race when second of 6 in 3m Fakenham handicap 22 days ago. Up 2 lb but remains one to consider. Probably his best run yet when second of six over nearly 3m at Fakenham (good). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bobalot |
(2) 18/1(-300%) | (2) Bobalot 18/1, Good second at Chepstow on his yard but but unseated rider 5th in handicap hurdle at Fontwell (21.8f, heavy) 13 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and not ruled out. Drying ground asks a question of him but he's back in some sort of form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Miss Pearl |
(7) 22/1(-175%) | (7) Miss Pearl 22/1, Still a maiden but he comes here in good nick, third of 9 in handicap hurdle here (21.7f, good to soft) 24 days ago. Enters calculations once more. Placed the last twice; now 4lb higher and has stamina to prove over this far. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Orange Diamond |
(5) 33/1(+34%) | (5) Orange Diamond 33/1, It's now 11 runs since his last win in 2022 and he came in last of 5 in handicap hurdle at Lingfield (16f, soft) 16 days ago. Significantly up in trip with work to do. Tailed off over 2m at Lingfield last time after a year out; unraced beyond 2m5f as well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Our Flying Angel |
(11) 66/1(-100%) | (11) Our Flying Angel 66/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, first run since leaving Peter Bowen when sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle (28/1) at Ludlow (23.8f, good to firm). Off 10 months. Visor on 1st time, tongue strap on 1st time. 8lb out of the weights even if the new headgear had an impact. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bellever Tor |
(12) 150/1(-50%) | (12) Bellever Tor 150/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 250/1, pulled up in novice hurdle at Wincanton (19.8f, soft) 81 days ago, pulled up. Up in trip. Makes handicap hurdle debut. No worthwhile form so far and she's a stone out of the weights for this handicap debut. |
Kentford Mallard showed a lot more when second in a warmer event at Sandown in January and she is a previous C&D winner that warrants huge respect. However, ONE MAN PARTY gets the nod. David Bridgwater's eight-year-old only found a well-handicapped rival too good in this grade at Fakenham last month and he should have no issues with this extra distance. Miss Pearl is another to note after her third at this venue last time.
A case can be made for a few of these but Georgina Nicholls' reliable MUSIQUE DE FEE is taken to gain a deserved first victory of the season at the chief expense of veteran mare Kentford Mallard who is weighted to have a big say. Miss Pearl and Bobalot both need factoring in too.
This looks wide open with no outstanding contender but plenty holding chances. NEWTONIAN gets the nod back on drier ground.

![]() Jupiter Des Mottes |
(2) 8/15(+70%) | (2) Jupiter Des Mottes 8/15, Looked a good prospect in winning his only outing in bumpers for Nicky Richards and did so again in making a successful start over hurdles upped in trip at Newcastle (20.3f) 10 months later. Sure to go on to better things. Created a good impression in landing Wetherby bumper and Newcastle novice hurde; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Crest Of Fortune |
(1) 15/8(+25%) | (1) Crest Of Fortune 15/8, Bumper winner who made a winning start over hurdles at Ffos Las. Runner-up all 3 starts since, latterly in first-time blinkers (retained here) in 4-runner novice at Ascot (19.3f) 3 weeks ago. Obvious player on form. Runner-up last three outings, blinkered at Ascot last time; holds very good form claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jehol De Thaix |
(4) 12/1(-41%) | (4) Jehol De Thaix 12/1, Showed plenty to work on when second in a Uttoxeter bumper (15.8f) and similar story after 7 months off when third on hurdles bow at Kelso (16.2f) in December. Possibly found race coming too soon just over 3 weeks on when not in the same form here last time, so worth another chance. Shaped well when placed in Kelso maiden hurdle but only fifth here since; not written off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Wholly Boley |
(5) 33/1(+34%) | (5) Wholly Boley 33/1, Only modest form in bumpers in 2023 but won a point since and made a satisfactory start to his hurdle career when fifth in a 3m course maiden in January. Failed to progress back here last time, however. Failed to build on encouraging hurdling debut when C&D sixth; worth another chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Wor Lad |
(6) 250/1(-150%) | (6) Wor Lad 250/1, Well held in 2 bumpers last spring and offered little on recent C&D hurdling debut. Offered little in a pair of bumpers and again on his hurdling debut when a C&D ninth. |
JUPITER DES MOTTES won a bumper at Wetherby in March last year and made a winning debut for these connections on his hurdling bow at Newcastle in January. The six-year-old looks to have a bright future and tops the shorlist here. Crest Of Fortune has filled second place on all three starts since winning at Ffos Las in November and is likely to be in the mix once again, while King Of Answers is the pick of the remainder.
An interesting small-field novice contested by 3 previous winners. JUPITER DES MOTTES again looked a good prospect when making a successful hurdling debut at Newcastle in January and is taken to defy a penalty en route to better things. Stablemate King of Answers forged clear in good style at the same venue last month and has to be feared with the performance supported by the clock. Crest of Fortune is the other key player on form despite being turned over at short odds on his most recent start.
Lucinda Russell's KING OF ANSWERS brings plenty of potential on the back of a stylish Newcastle victory and is taken to follow up here

![]() Belliano |
(6) 11/4(+50%) | (6) Belliano 11/4, £255,000 purchase after easily winning an Irish point. Bumped into The New Lion on his Chepstow hurdle debut before landing the odds in a maiden at Ascot and novice at Market Rasen. Much respected for a top yard with a strong record in this. Met his sole defeat behind a very classy rival; progressive sort who has strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Meetmebythesea |
(2) 10/3(+26%) | (2) Meetmebythesea 10/3, Runner-up sole start in Irish points and unbeaten in 3 hurdles around 2m this winter. Should have more to offer now handicapping over a trip which should suit for last year's winning yard. Good claimer also takes 5 lb off. Obvious appeal. Promising sort who is 3-3 under rules and represents last year's winning yard; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() George's Lad |
(5) 9/2(+40%) | (5) George's Lad 9/2, Held every chance when falling at the last in a point and has progressed with each run over hurdles to this point, suited by the step up to 19.5f when winning hard held in maiden at Doncaster in January. One of a few handicap newcomers in this field who likely has his best days ahead of him. Has improved with each start; won on the bridle at Doncaster most recently; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Kemble Brewery |
(1) 10/1(-100%) | (1) The Kemble Brewery 10/1, Successful both starts in bumpers and also landed a pair of 2m novice hurdles this autumn. Another good run when 2 lengths second to the reopposing Meetmebythesea in novice at Ludlow (2m, soft) in December. Should have more to offer now handicapping up in trip. Tongue tie added. Overall record is 4-6 and form has substance; remains the type to improve further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Elysian Knight |
(10) 14/1(+13%) | (10) Elysian Knight 14/1, Left hurdle debut behind when springing a 40/1 surprise in Ffos Las maiden in January. Shaped well in a race which tested speed more than stamina at Fakenham since and likely improver now handicapping. Has shown improvement the last twice; shapes as if this stiffer course will suit. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Not So Woolly |
(11) 14/1(+36%) | (11) Not So Woolly 14/1, Has made a sound start to his hurdle career, placing for a fourth time when second in 19f Taunton novice last month. The step back up in trip should suit now handicapping. Also wears first-time cheekpieces. Chance of opening his account depends on how well he responds to cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Malinificent |
(17) 14/1(+44%) | (17) Malinificent 14/1, £52,000 buy after finishing runner-up on sole completed start in points. Best effort over hurdles when second in 2m Bangor novice (heavy) last month. This longer trip promises to suit now handicapping. Maiden whose pedigree suggests this new trip is a possible source of improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() It's Hard To Know |
(8) 16/1(+20%) | (8) It's Hard To Know 16/1, Won sole start in Irish points (Feb 2024) and successful in novice hurdles at Lingfield (19.5f) and Market Rasen (20.5f) on first 2 starts for Ben Pauling. Dropped away tamely in the Grade 1 Challow at Newbury just after Christmas but retains potential now handicapping. Absent since a heavy defeat in the Challow; unbeaten previously; could go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kepler's Law |
(3) 18/1(+10%) | (3) Kepler's Law 18/1, Irish point winner who has made an encouraging start to his hurdle career this winter, getting off the mark at the third time of asking in 20.5f Leicester novice (heavy) in January. Likely capable of better now moving into handicap company. Hit with a 12lb hike for Leicester win but could progress further; not dismissed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Silver Thorn |
(12) 20/1(+9%) | (12) Silver Thorn 20/1, Reached the frame in 2 bumpers and made a successful hurdling debut in a 2¾m Stratford maiden (heavy) in October. Stepped up on that form when second to the reopposing Belliano at Market Rasen (20.5f, soft) 32 days ago and his opening handicap mark looks fair. Tongue tied first time. Ties in with Belliano but that rival is progressing better; tongue-tie applied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Followcato |
(16) 25/1(+11%) | (16) Followcato 25/1, Has shaped well in 2 of his 3 hurdles, paying the price late on for hugely eye-catching move to the front when third if 14 in 2½m Wetherby maiden 35 days ago. Handicap debut. One of 3 interesting runners for last year's winning stable. Still a maiden and looks held by a couple of these rivals; needs improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Off The Jury |
(4) 28/1(-12%) | (4) Off The Jury 28/1, Improved when close third on 3m Doncaster handicap debut in January and set to better that form when running out at the last at Wetherby (3m again) 10 days ago. Another 4 lb higher now but still not discounted. Proved errant (2l down when running out at final flight) last time; risky. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Aviation |
(14) 28/1(+0%) | (14) Aviation 28/1, Placed in first 3 hurdles before coming good in 2½m Fakenham novice (good) 3 weeks ago. Makes handicap debut. Likely capable of even better. Consistent at sharp tracks; goes into unknown territory on this stiffer course. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Laurens Bay |
(9) 33/1(-106%) | (9) Laurens Bay 33/1, Confirmed previous promise as he made it third time lucky over hurdles in 10-runner novice at Huntingdon (2m, heavy) in December but needs to shrug off a lesser run at Ascot in January now moving into his first handicap. Latest effort suggests he's not the percentage call over this stiff 2m4f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Disco Davis |
(13) 33/1(-65%) | (13) Disco Davis 33/1, Seemed to relish a return to front-running when getting off the mark in 2m Lingfield maiden (soft) in January. Good second in 19f Warwick novice since. Handicap debut. Improved the last twice but the form isn't dazzling; this is much harder. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Illegal D'ainay |
(15) 66/1(0%) | (15) Illegal D'ainay 66/1, Opened his hurdle account in 2m Plumpton maiden in May. Has bettered that form in his 3 outings since but only fourth on handicap debut at Windsor latest and likely vulnerable to progressive sorts here. Proving consistent but lacks the potential of several of these opponents. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ken Roy |
(18) 80/1(-60%) | (18) Ken Roy 80/1, Third in 2 bumpers last spring. Also showed promise when reaching the frame in his first 2 hurdles but pulled up at Cheltenham when last seen on New Year's Day. Handicap debut. Stiff task in this field and stable has a much stronger chance with Belliano. |
MEETMEBYTHESEA readily fits the profile to be a major player here. Unbeaten in three starts in this discipline, the JP McManus-owned gelding showed versatility in registering those victories and he could be tough to overhaul stepping up in trip with ground conditions ideal. Belliano and The Kemble Brewery are other progressive types to seriously consider, although the selection's stable companion, It's Hard To Know, is dangerous to underestimate with the yard bidding for back-to-back wins in this race.
Fiercely competitive as usual. BELLIANO has created a good impression when winning his last 2 starts and is taken to provide Paul Nicholls with a third success in this since 2020. Ben Pauling won this last year and has a strong hand again, courtesy of Meetmebythesea and Followcato. George's Lad and Elysian Knight also make the shortlist.
A typically big turnout for this major novice handicap hurdle. The suggestion is GEORGE'S LAD, ahead of Belliano.

![]() Williethebuilder |
(2) 5/4(+75%) | (2) Williethebuilder 5/4, Has advanced his form over hurdles this term after wind surgery, scoring at Wetherby (2m) in November. Well held both starts since but had excuses. Type to make a chaser. Faced a tough task in his latest hurdle and could be interesting now sent chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Western General |
(3) 16/5(-97%) | (3) Western General 16/5, Overall record is rather patchy but he resumed progress with an easy win at Wincanton 3 weeks ago. That performance is backed up by the timefigure so big shout with a repeat. 10lb higher than at Wincanton and has drier ground to deal with; still a major player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hypotenus |
(4) 10/3(-21%) | (4) Hypotenus 10/3, On a nice mark on hurdles form in Ireland but didn't really click over fences for Gavin Cromwell. However, went with plenty of zest when third at Sandown both starts for this yard and sharper track here probably in his favour. Likely to go well. Two good front-running shifts at Sandown and this sharp track could suit him well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Famoso |
(5) 13/2(+54%) | (5) Famoso 13/2, Won 3 on the bounce in November/December, the first leg of which was a handicap over this C&D. Quick turnaround might have been his undoing at Hereford next time but needs to shrug off a poor showing behind Western General at Wincanton since. Ground too soft last time and his Ludlow win in November was off only 2lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mackenberg |
(1) 14/1(-100%) | (1) Mackenberg 14/1, Good strike rate over jumps earlier in his career. Largely struggled in recent seasons, though, and ran poorly when pulled up at Wetherby 44 days ago. Headgear now applied. Unlucky in this last year but just one notable run since then; hard to predict. |
WESTERN GENERAL produced a career-best effort when romping home at Wincanton last month and the handicapper put him up 10lb for that triumph. Providing the seven-year-old remains in similar form, he may prove difficult to beat. Hypotenus was kindly dropped 2lb after his third at Sandown last month and he would be dangerous to dismiss, while Mackenberg sports first-time cheekpieces and is another to consider.
HYPOTENUS has made a decent start for this yard and shades the vote over Western General, who was impressive at Wincanton but needs to back that up.
All five have chances. HYPOTENUS has run well in two Sandown handicaps for this yard and Hereford should suit him.

![]() Grimaud |
(5) 8/13(+62%) | (5) Grimaud 8/13, Fairly useful Flat winner and similar form over hurdles, including when second of 9 in maiden (10/1) at Fairyhouse (20f, soft) 51 days ago. Leading contender. Must jump better dropped back in trip but 123-rated hurdler should be hard to beat here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Captain Ryan Matt |
(3) 3/1(-33%) | (3) Captain Ryan Matt 3/1, Much improved from hurdling debut when second of 16 in maiden at Punchestown (16.2f, heavy) 40 days ago. Big chance on that form. No match for Cheltenham-bound Karbau at Punchestown but one for the shortlist here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Imarajan |
(18) 10/1(-25%) | (18) Imarajan 10/1, Fair maiden handicapper up to 1¾m on the Flat and showed some aptitude for hurdling when fourth of 13 in juvenile at Fairyhouse (16f, soft) on NH debut 31 days ago. Open to improvement. Fourth of 13 at Fairyhouse on hurdles bow; will get further but each-way possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sixtripleeight |
(20) 11/1(-38%) | (20) Sixtripleeight 11/1, €44,000 3-y-o, Blue Bresil gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Outside The Door, stays 3¾m, and fair chaser Loud As Lions. Bred more for stamina than speed but still a respected newcomer from top stable. 13,000euros foal, 44,000euros 3yo; highly respected on debut; looks stable second string. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fierce Handay |
(4) 12/1(-9%) | (4) Fierce Handay 12/1, Showed a bit when sixth of 14 in novice hurdle (16/1) at Navan (15.7f, heavy) on NH debut 27 days ago. Possibly more one for handicaps a bit further down the line. Sixth of 14 at Navan on rules debut; winner has gone in again; should strip fitter now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Can Happen |
(2) 18/1(+28%) | (2) Can Happen 18/1, Vadamos gelding. Closely related to modest staying chaser Instant Gambler. Dam, maiden on Flat, sister to French 2m-23f hurdles/chase winner Ole Companero. Last of 5 finishers sole start in points (Apr 2024). 10,000euros foal related to 3m/3m2f chase winner Instant Gambler; market will guide. |

![]() Bop Wont Stop |
(1) 50/1(-150%) | (1) Bop Wont Stop 50/1, Ran a long way below hurdling debut form when eleventh of 17 in maiden (16/1) at Clonmel (18.9f, heavy) 9 days ago. Third in Cork maiden hurdle; tame efforts in two subsequent starts raises a doubt. |

![]() Out Moll's Gap |
(21) 80/1(+20%) | (21) Out Moll's Gap 80/1, Tenth of 16 in juvenile hurdle (125/1) at this course (16f, heavy) on NH debut 21 days ago. RESERVE. Smart pedigree but never involved when sent off 125-1 over C&D last month; reserve. |

![]() Glendower |
(16) 100/1(-100%) | (16) Glendower 100/1, Went the wrong way on the Flat for William Muir & Chris Grassick and failed to make much of an impact sent hurdling at Navan last week. Made no impression on his hurdles debut at Navan last week but was hampered four out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Zuzukel |
(15) 100/1(-52%) | (15) Zuzukel 100/1, Fair maiden on the Flat but well held complete start over hurdles. Off 11 months. Detached when a faller at Naas last April; shrewd stable so market will guide on return. |

![]() I Feel Fine |
(6) 125/1(-150%) | (6) I Feel Fine 125/1, Califet gelding. Dam placed, in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to smart hurdler/chaser (stayed 2½m) Bamako Moriviere (by Califet). First foal; dam placed in bumper/2m7f hurdle; stable 2-12 at the track so worth monitoring. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Union Alley |
(13) 125/1(-150%) | (13) Union Alley 125/1, Well held in 2 bumpers so makes very little appeal on this switch to hurdling. Poor on debut at Cork in July and fared no better at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Killala Bay |
(7) 150/1(-50%) | (7) Killala Bay 150/1, Policy Maker gelding. Dam modest hurdler (23f winner). Dam 2m7f hurdle winner, half-sister to point winner Best Director; best watched. |

![]() Siege Ofjadotville |
(9) 150/1(-50%) | (9) Siege Ofjadotville 150/1, Well held in pair of maiden hurdles. Remote third behind Willie Mullins-trained winner at Clonmel on debut; tailed off at Naas. |

![]() Welcome Aboard |
(14) 150/1(-50%) | (14) Welcome Aboard 150/1, Looks more one for handicaps after this run. Well beaten in pair of maidens; looks more of a long-term project; Walsh on Fierce Handay. |

![]() Pension Plan |
(8) 250/1(-150%) | (8) Pension Plan 250/1, Sixteenth of 18 in novice hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft, 100/1) on NH debut 6 days ago. Never involved when sent off 100-1 for Leopardstown maiden hurdle six days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tippinaway |
(12) 250/1(-150%) | (12) Tippinaway 250/1, Bred for longer trips and shaped accordingly when thirteenth of 18 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.1f, soft, 150/1) on NH debut 23 days ago. Never involved when sent off triple-figure odds on his debut at Clonmel last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sparrow Wings |
(10) 250/1(-100%) | (10) Sparrow Wings 250/1, Nineteenth of 20 in novice hurdle at Naas (15.5f, heavy, 150/1) on NH debut 13 days ago. Plenty of stamina in pedigree; never involved on debut at Naas; needs more time & further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Nobody |
(19) 300/1(-200%) | (19) Nobody 300/1, Modest maiden on the Flat. 200/1, eighth of 16 in juvenile hurdle at this course (16f, heavy) 21 days ago, not knocked about. Low-grade Flat handicapper; sent off triple-figure odds for all three maiden hurdle starts. |
GRIMAUD won twice on the Flat in France and has been placed on all three hurdle outings since joining current connections. He wasn't helped by a mistake at the last when beating all bar the odds-on Fishery Lane over 2m4f at Fairyhouse and should be suited by this drop back in trip. Captain Ryan Matt probably came up against a useful sort when no match for Karbau at Punchestown, while Fierce Handay was noted staying on in a Navan maiden that has been working out quite well and any market move would be significant. Bop Wont Stop showed promise when third to Pure Steel at Cork, but has disappointed twice since.
CAPTAIN RYAN MATT was no match for a smart prospect at Punchestown on his most recent outing, but it still represented a big step forward from his hurdling debut and a reproduction of that form may well suffice. Grimaud is proving consistent over hurdles and is an obvious threat, with Imarajan and newcomer Sixtripleeight others worthy of consideration.
Despite being turned over three times over hurdles to date, the 123-rated GRIMAUD should prove too strong for his rivals

![]() Heads Or Harps |
(6) 11/8(+8%) | (6) Heads Or Harps 11/8, Shaped very well on back of nearly 2 years off when fourth on yard/chase debut at Newcastle (20f) in January and did nothing to alter the fact he's a winner in waiting when second at Wetherby (19.4f) 10 days ago, tanking his way to the front before meeting the last wrong. Big player. Travelled well when second at Wetherby and this shorter trip could be just what he needs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tommy Combats |
(7) 10/3(+44%) | (7) Tommy Combats 10/3, Steadily progressive without success over hurdles and further progress sent chasing this term, off the mark in handicap at Hexham (15.6f) in December. Good second over C&D next time and found himself poorly placed when fourth at Carlisle (20f) 19 days ago. Worth another chance. Below-par fourth at Carlisle but this unexposed 6yo could still have more to offer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dance Thief |
(3) 7/2(-17%) | (3) Dance Thief 7/2, Reliable type who clearly likes it here, doubling his career tally in a 6-runner C&D handicap chase on penultimate start last month. Creditable display when second in 3-runner contest back here 12 days ago and whilst present mark demands more, he's respected again. Won over C&D on second chase start and bumped into useful prospect over C&D last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Chapel Green |
(1) 13/2(+19%) | (1) Chapel Green 13/2, Down in weights when doubling his tally for the season at Musselburgh (15.8f) in November before a good second over C&D in January. However, never been the most reliable and he disappointed back at first-named venue 5 weeks ago. Yard look to hold stronger claims with Heads or Harps. Disappointing at Musselburgh last time but progressive previously and could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Heritier |
(4) 12/1(-33%) | (4) Heritier 12/1, Back to winning ways in 19f handicap hurdle at Carlisle in December. However, jumping let him down when fifth back over fences at Sedgefield on Boxing Day and lesser effort when last of 8 returned to hurdling back at Carlisle (17f) 33 days ago. Three-time chase winner; scored over hurdles in December but form has been mixed since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Findthetime |
(2) 20/1(-43%) | (2) Findthetime 20/1, Landed a pair of small-field handicaps last winter for Nicky Richards but recent record distinctly patchy, adding a third consecutive non-completion to his tally when pulled up at Bangor (20.3f, heavy) 10 days ago. Needs to bounce back in a major way equipped with cheekpieces. Pulled up on last three starts and a major turnaround is needed in first-time cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Stylish Recruit |
(5) 25/1(-150%) | (5) Stylish Recruit 25/1, Irish point winner who readily surpassed previous hurdling exploits when a game winner of a Hexham novice (16.2f) in June. Ran too bad to be true on back of wind surgery/6 months off when pulled up on chase debut at Carlisle in December. This will reveal more. Pulled up in sole chase but this lightly raced point/novice h'dle winner retains potential. |
HEADS OR HARPS caught the eye when filling second place over 2m3f at Wetherby 10 days ago and this drop in trip could help him to go one better, despite a 4lb rise. Dance Thief scored over C&D two starts ago and hit the crossbar at this venue most recently. Those performances suggest that he may be the main threat to the selection, although Chapel Green and Tommy Combats should not be discounted.
HEADS OR HARPS again shaped with abundant promise when runner-up at Wetherby 10 days ago, tanking through the race before losing vital momentum when meeting the last wrong. He's very much of interest dropped in trip and can gain deserved compensation here. Tommy Combats and Dance Thief may pose the lead threats.
Having travelled well when second over an extended 2m3f recently, HEADS OR HARPS (nap) can capitalise on the drop back in trip.

![]() Bo Zenith |
(3) 5/1(+17%) | (3) Bo Zenith 5/1, Promising juvenile hurdler for Gary Moore in 2022/23, winning twice and second in Grade 1 at Aintree. Good start for new yard following a 20-month absence in a Cheltenham handicap in December and, though he failed to build on that at Ascot next time, this 6-y-o could still have untapped potential. Couple of encouraging efforts since returning from lengthy absence; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Go Dante |
(9) 6/1(+20%) | (9) Go Dante 6/1, Did well last term, the highlight being a narrow success in this race off 2 lb higher 12 months ago. Encouraging reappearance when fifth to Lump Sum in the Welsh Champion Hurdle in October and, though well held on his next 3 starts, he shaped as though coming back to the boil at Newbury last month. Landed this contest off 2lb higher last year (got up on line); interesting back here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Wreckless Eric |
(8) 7/1(+30%) | (8) Wreckless Eric 7/1, Confirmed the promise of his reappearance when winning a competitive 2m handicap at Cheltenham in November. Another good effort at Prestbury Park when runner-up the following month and latest sixth of 14 in a valuable Windsor contest was creditable, too. Couldn't rule out. Record is 3-7; ran well on bare figures the last twice; still open to further progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ooh Betty |
(5) 8/1(+33%) | (5) Ooh Betty 8/1, Useful mare who had a breathing operation prior to a successful reappearance over C&D in November and quickly back on track to double her tally for the season at Kempton during the Christmas period. Latest third in an Ascot Grade 2 was no backward step and she's not without each-way hope. Largely consistent mare who has won over C&D; ran creditably in Grade 2 most recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Afadil |
(12) 8/1(+33%) | (12) Afadil 8/1, Winner of the Scottish County Hurdle at Musselburgh last term and returned to form when runner-up in this season's renewal of that handicap. Remains on an attractive mark and of strong interest for top yard, which has saddled the winner of this twice during the last 5 years. Attractively handicapped; yard landed this prize in 2019 and 2023; commands respect. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lump Sum |
(1) 8/1(-7%) | (1) Lump Sum 8/1, Grade 2 novice hurdle winner last season and improved again to make a winning return in the Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las in October. Runner-up on 2 of his 3 subsequent starts, including in a valuable 17-runner Newbury handicap (16.3f, soft) last month, and he has to enter calculations. Largely progressive; good second in major handicap at Newbury last time; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Spirits Bay |
(10) 11/1(-38%) | (10) Spirits Bay 11/1, Did little wrong last season and has acquitted himself well all 3 starts since returning to action in December, finishing third to Constitution Hill in the International Hurdle at Cheltenham (16.8f, soft) last time. Solid each-way chance back in handicap company. Ran well at the weights in Grade 2 most recently; interesting off unaltered mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Knickerbockerglory |
(2) 16/1(-14%) | (2) Knickerbockerglory 16/1, Enhanced fine record when fresh by landing a heavy-ground C&D handicap on return in December, proving 8 lengths too strong for multiple subsequent winner Nemean Lion. Had 3 of these behind when a cracking third off this 7 lb higher mark when going for a big pot at Windsor next time. Each-way shout. Has a career-high mark to overcome in this third Imperial Cup attempt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sorceleur |
(15) 16/1(+36%) | (15) Sorceleur 16/1, Progressive hurdler who landed good-ground novices at Exeter and Wincanton on successive days in November. Runner-up next 2 starts but safely held when third off a similar mark at Newbury last weekend and yard saddles a more appealing candidate in Afadil. Generally consistent but needs to improve on latest piece of form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() To Chase A Dream |
(7) 18/1(-29%) | (7) To Chase A Dream 18/1, Consistent type who completed the hat-trick when cosily seeing off Hardy du Seuil and 6 others at Carlisle (17f, soft) in December. Hasn't done much wrong in handicaps at Cheltenham and Doncaster since but it could be that he's now a shade too high in the weights. Latest effort took his hurdles record to 222211142; each-way possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tintintin |
(11) 18/1(+28%) | (11) Tintintin 18/1, Made good strides forward last season, typically proving strong at the finish to land a big-field handicap over 16.8f at Cheltenham in April. Has shaped well on a couple of occasions during present campaign but this demands a clear career-best. Has made the frame in two major handicaps this term; each-way squeak. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hardy Du Seuil |
(6) 18/1(+36%) | (6) Hardy Du Seuil 18/1, Returned as good as ever over hurdles when runner-up at Carlisle in December and, back up in grade, he again ran well when fifth of 14 at Windsor (2m, good to soft) in January. However, he was mid-field in the 2023 renewal of this and a similar scenario is likely this time round. Has won over C&D but came up short in this race two years ago; now 1lb higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() We're Red And Blue |
(16) 22/1(-22%) | (16) We're Red And Blue 22/1, Bumper winner last term and, save for a poor handicap debut display at Ascot in December, he hasn't done much wrong since switched to hurdles, landing novice events at Carlisle and Warwick either side of that Ascot debacle. However, this demands a significant step forward. Last three runs include two wins; upped sharply in class but is unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Batman Girac |
(4) 22/1(-175%) | (4) Batman Girac 22/1, French recruit who has yet to strike for this yard but he's on a workable mark judged on some pieces of form, including on latest start when coming down at the final flight in a major handicap at Leopardstown (2m, good to soft) where he was staying on well at the time. Merits respect. Was in the process of running well when final-flight faller at Leopardstown; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() King William Rufus |
(13) 25/1(-25%) | (13) King William Rufus 25/1, Likeable front-runner who put an end to a frustrating run of seconds when the dominant winner of what had looked a competitive contest at Ascot (2m, good to soft) in December. By no means disgraced in a major Newbury handicap last time but more will be needed if he's to emerge on top here. Held by Lump Sum on Newbury running and may need a drop back in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Big Ginge |
(17) 28/1(-40%) | (17) Big Ginge 28/1, Free-going sort who showed plenty of ability in bumpers last term and similar story in finishing runner-up all 4 starts in maiden/novice hurdles this winter. On the downside, it was disappointing that he failed to land the odds at Bangor last time and faces an uphill task on this handicap debut. Maiden who has some good pieces of form; could show progress now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tapley |
(14) 66/1(+0%) | (14) Tapley 66/1, Took advantage of a drop in class at Plumpton (2m, soft) in October but he has struggled since, both in this sphere and over fences, and others make more appeal. Far from solid judged on form since last win; opposed. |
LUMP SUM has encountered high-class or progressive rivals in his most recent starts and victory in an event such as this wouldn't be coming out of turn. Having had last year's winner, Go Dante, a long way behind when second in the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury last month, there is a lot to like despite the burden of top-weigtht. Wreckless Eric and Bo Zenith are closely matched based on their encounter at Cheltenham in December and are capable of being on the premises. Knickerbockerglory has improved since finishing fifth in this 12 months ago and also has each-way appeal.
The answer to this pre-Cheltenham Festival puzzle could be AFADIL, who is 8 lb lower compared to when finishing fifth in the County Hurdle at last season's Festival and he arrives here on the back of a solid effort in the Scottish equivalent of that valuable handicap at Musselburgh. Go Dante is also on a good mark (now 2 lb lower than when winning this 12 months ago) and he is feared most ahead of Spirits Bay, while cases can also be made for the likes of Batman Girac, Bo Zenith and Lump Sum.
Preference is for AFADIL (nap), an attractively treated contender who does well in the spring. Go Dante is second choice.

![]() Springtime Legend |
(12) 6/5(-110%) | (12) Springtime Legend 6/5, Some encouragement both starts in bumpers and stepped up on his hurdling debut form in a first-time hood when a close second in 8-runner mares novice at Wincanton (21.4f, heavy, 5/2) 37 days ago, running on. Sets the clear standard on that effort. Drew clear with the winner at Wincanton last time and that form sets the standard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jasmin Bellevue |
(4) 5/2(+79%) | (4) Jasmin Bellevue 5/2, £110,000 4-y-o, Jeu St Eloi gelding. Half-brother to French hurdler Funky Town and French 2¼m chase winner Diskover. Runner-up completed start in Irish points but was too headstrong when sixth of 11 in maiden hurdle at Ascot (21.6f) in December. Hood quickly applied and may do better. Tailed off at Ascot but could leave that run behind if settling better in the new hood. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lions Peak |
(6) 5/2(+0%) | (6) Lions Peak 5/2, Didn't achieve much in a pair of bumpers last season and was similar story on hurdles debut at Exeter in December. Since joined Jamie Snowden and offered a lot more than previously when third of 14 in Wincanton novice (15.2f) 3 weeks ago. Step up in trip likely to suit and must enter calculations. He was looking limited but showed a lot more when beaten under 4l into third at Wincanton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Chuggy |
(3) 17/2(-6%) | (3) Chuggy 17/2, Walk In The Park gelding. Half-brother to numerous winners, including fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser El Presente, stays 29f, and useful hurdler Kateira. Pulled up sole outing in points but has joined a top stable. Market useful. Pulled up in a point; principally of some interest due to the yard he's joined. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Magus |
(7) 16/1(+84%) | (7) The Magus 16/1, Looks one for staying handicaps after this run. Just mild hints of ability in two 2m3f novices and looks one for handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() King's Consort |
(9) 100/1(0%) | (9) King's Consort 100/1, Made the frame in a couple of point bumpers in spring 2023 but was rusty and/or in need of the experience when well held at Chepstow (16f, heavy) on NH debut 39 days ago. Up in trip. Placed in points but remote when 28-1 for novice hurdle at Chepstow (2m, heavy). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mini Fortune |
(11) 100/1(+0%) | (11) Mini Fortune 100/1, Prolific winner in points but has shown little in a maiden/novice hurdle under Rules. Won five of her 15 points but it's been a quiet start under rules for new yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() King Troy |
(5) 250/1(-150%) | (5) King Troy 250/1, Grand Finale gelding. Dam maiden pointer. Pulled up sole start in points. Wears tongue strap for Rules debut and can only be watched. Always behind and eventually pulled up in a soft-ground 3m point in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Clashmore Banter |
(8) 250/1(-67%) | (8) Clashmore Banter 250/1, Didn't offer much in points and has been beaten a long way in a pair of maiden hurdles. 0-4 in Irish points and nothing to show for two runs in maiden hurdles (2m3f/2m5f). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Majestic Bo |
(10) 250/1(-67%) | (10) Majestic Bo 250/1, Stoutly bred and offered little when eleventh of 13 in bumper at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) on debut 67 days ago. Upped in trip for hurdle debut and fitted with a first-time tongue strap. 125-1 when tailed off in a Uttoxeter bumper on good to soft; now has tongue tied. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Absolutely Certain |
(1) 300/1(-50%) | (1) Absolutely Certain 300/1, Unpromising in points and well held on recent Warwick hurdling debut. Point form nothing to crow about and he was 250-1 when tailed off at Warwick (2m3f). |
SPRINGTIME LEGEND finished 16 lengths clear of the third when hitting the crossbar over an extended 2m5f at Wincanton in January and that looks the best form on offer. The five-year-old might only need to reproduce that level of performance in order to get off the mark. Lions Peak wasn't disgraced in third on his first start for the Jamie Snowden stable last month and he has to be considered. Of the remainder, Jasmin Bellevue makes the most appeal.
The form of the race SPRINGTIME LEGEND finished second in at Wincanton 3 weeks ago is nothing to write home about, but she's still difficult to oppose in what looks a very winnable affair. Lions Peak showed appreciably more than previously on first outing for Jamie Snowden when third at the aforementioned track in January and is feared most ahead of Jasmin Bellevue, who was far too keen on his Ascot Rules debut.
Neil Mulholland won this maiden last year and his SPRINGTIME LEGEND may have only Lions Peak to beat.

![]() Whimsy |
(17) 9/4(-29%) | (17) Whimsy 9/4, Fairly useful hurdler. Remains a maiden after 10 hurdle runs. 5/4, good second of 12 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (16.7f, heavy) 12 days ago. Highly likely she'll be in the thick of things again. Three-time Flat scorer, placed in nine of her ten hurdle starts, risky but may deliver now. |

![]() Innatendue |
(7) 3/1(+45%) | (7) Innatendue 3/1, Fair hurdler. 11/4, respectable third of 14 in novice hurdle at Wexford (24f, good to soft). Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving John McConnell and she's entitled to be thereabouts. Dual AQPS winner in France; frustrating over hurdles, new yard, may remain vulnerable. |

(12) 10/3(+58%) | (12) Neon Diamond 10/3, Fair winner at 19f in bumpers and promise in trio of hurdle runs, third of 18 in novice hurdle (8/1) at Clonmel (19f, soft) 23 days ago, hampered 2 out and keeping on without being unduly punished. Drop in trip not sure to suit here. Bumper winner, yet to shine over hurdles, stewards investigated after remote Clonmel third. |

Off 8 months. Should progress. Bumper winner whose 2 hurdle runs may have been over further than ideal, trip may suit. |

![]() Miss Corby |
(11) 14/1(+0%) | (11) Miss Corby 14/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. Showed more than she had in a couple of bumpers when seventh of 17 in novice hurdle at this course (16f, good to soft, 14/1) on hurdles bow 119 days ago. May well do better. Jumping was untidy in a C&D maiden hurdle in November, open to improvement. |

(16) 18/1(0%) | (16) Tiffiny's Girl 18/1, Thrice-raced maiden under NH rules. 14/1, fourth of 14 in bumper at this course (17f, heavy) on bumper debut 21 days ago. Passed over on return to hurdles. Jumping frailties apparent on her first two attempts, some ability including in a bumper. |

![]() Hurricane Bailey |
(5) 50/1(-257%) | (5) Hurricane Bailey 50/1, Fair form when placed on first of 2 hurdle starts last winter. Off 11 months, stopped alarmingly quickly when fifth in 12-runner bumper at Limerick (2m, soft) 72 days ago and percentage call to look elsewhere. Has failed to build on a promising third in a maiden hurdle at Limerick in December 2023. |

![]() Spread Your Wings |
(15) 80/1(-60%) | (15) Spread Your Wings 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Hooded for 1st time, ninth of 11 in novice hurdle (40/1) at Punchestown (16.7f, heavy) 12 days ago, never threatening. Type to do better in handicaps. Unseated on debut last June; fair fourth at Listowel, below that form twice since then. |

![]() She's Got Gears |
(14) 100/1(0%) | (14) She's Got Gears 100/1, Twice-raced maiden. Ninth of 18 in novice hurdle (200/1) at Clonmel (19f, soft) 23 days ago. Modest form in points, down the field in two maiden hurdle outings, can be ruled out. |

![]() Menas Miracle |
(10) 100/1(-203%) | (10) Menas Miracle 100/1, Cosily won sole start in points (Dec 1) but went with little promise equipped with a tongue strap when fifteenth of 18 in bumper (25/1) at Thurles (16.1f, good) on NH debut 77 days ago. Makes hurdles debut. Won a mares' maiden point in December, finished in rear in a bumper at Thurles. |

![]() Inches Away |
(6) 125/1(-25%) | (6) Inches Away 125/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Seventeenth of 18 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.1f, soft, 250/1) 23 days ago. Low-grade staying handicaps will be more her thing Placed in a bumper first time out, has shown nothing in three maiden hurdle outings. |

![]() Nutbush City |
(13) 150/1(-50%) | (13) Nutbush City 150/1, Little solid form on Flat and no encouragement when ninth of 18 in novice hurdle at Limerick (16f, soft) on NH debut 72 days ago. Weak form on the Flat, big price when down the field at Limerick on hurdling debut.. |

![]() Blue Pearl Bay |
(1) 150/1(-275%) | (1) Blue Pearl Bay 150/1, Once-raced maiden. 25/1 and hooded, eleventh of 12 in bumper at Tipperary (20f, good to soft) on NH debut. Off 10 months. Makes hurdles debut. Decent pedigree but showed nothing in a bumper at Tipperary last April on her only start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fly Argaric |
(3) 150/1(-127%) | (3) Fly Argaric 150/1, Idaho mare. Dam unraced. Likely outsider on racecourse bow. Second foal out of an unraced mare; not a likely contender first time out. |
WHIMSY won three times on the Flat, including over 1m6f at Carlisle last summer, and has made the frame on her latest four starts over hurdles. She likes to be up with the pace and while reluctant to line up at Punchestown last time, only went down by half a length to Adela Icon, with the pair pulling well clear of the remainder. Innatendue has been placed on a number of occasions and now has her first run for Henry de Bromhead following an eight-month break. Limerick bumper winner Neon Diamond attracted the attention of the stewards at Clonmel last month, while Long Gone and Hurricane Bailey are others to consider.
WHIMSY rather agonisingly found only a less exposed sort from the Mullins' yard too strong in a maiden at Punchestown 12 days ago. Miles clear of the remainder that day, she holds obvious claims again and shades the vote to belatedly open her account in this sphere. Innatendue and Long Gone may emerge as the chief dangers.
A habit of finding one too good is a major concern for potential supporters of WHIMSY, but this looks like a good opportunity

![]() Whip Cracker |
(4) 9/4(+70%) | (4) Whip Cracker 9/4, Lightly raced sort who ran up to best when fourth of 8 in handicap at Goodwood (1m, heavy) on final start in October. Record on AW stands at 1-1 and feasible to think this 4-y-o could have more to offer on the back of just 7 career starts. Unexposed 4yo; ran well in the mud twice last autumn; more to come this year contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Local Hero |
(6) 4/1(+60%) | (6) Local Hero 4/1, 4-y-o colt who boasts a largely progressive profile on AW, adding to his tally at Kempton (1m) in December. Found himself caught further back than ideal when 2½ lengths fourth of 9 to Zoffandia in handicap at that venue 17 days ago and he remains of considerable interest. Not seen to best effect behind Zoffandia latest; progressive beforehand; can do better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kingdom Come |
(1) 13/2(-63%) | (1) Kingdom Come 13/2, All 4 career victories have come on all-weather, including this corresponding race from a 2 lb lower mark 12 months ago. Showed benefit of comeback run when good second of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford (1m) 86 days ago and likely he'll be thereabouts again. Beat Final Voyage in this race last year off 2lb lower; good 2nd latest; solid contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Symbol Of Light |
(2) 7/1(+7%) | (2) Symbol Of Light 7/1, Dual C&D winner who has been lightly raced by present yard and confirmed himself better than ever when winning 12-runner handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 29 days ago. Had run of the race then but foolish to rule out another big run. Impressed when making all at Southwell last month (1m) but he's up 8lb in a better race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Two Tempting |
(3) 10/1(+44%) | (3) Two Tempting 10/1, Enjoyed a fine 2024, gaining a fifth success since the spring in 13-runner handicap at Chester (7.6f) in August. Career-high mark enough to anchor him when tenth of 18 in handicap at Ascot (7f) on final start though, and others appeal more for win purposes back from 5 months off. Won five times last year; may not have finished improving; good record fresh; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Zoffandia |
(13) 12/1(+25%) | (13) Zoffandia 12/1, Lightly-raced 4-y-o who looks well bought at 6,500 gns, belying market weakness when opening his account in 9-runner Kempton handicap (1m) 17 days ago. Value for a little extra having come from further back than placed pair then and there's likely more to come. Made winning handicap debut at Kempton despite a slow start; unexposed but in deeper here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Final Voyage |
(5) 14/1(-115%) | (5) Final Voyage 14/1, 3-time C&D winner who found only Kingdom Come too strong in this race 12 months ago. Largely consistent subsequently, and he comes here on the back of a good second of 11 in handicap at Dundalk (1m) 15 days ago, finishing well. Expected to be in the mix partnered by Billy Loughnane. Ran well from a bad draw in this race last year; form claims but stall 13 is offputting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Great Chieftain |
(11) 18/1(-177%) | (11) Great Chieftain 18/1, Progressive during second half of last season, making it 3 wins from last 4 starts with a determined display in 7-runner Newmarket handicap (1m) in August. Absent since but nudged up only 3 lb and feasible to think he could do better yet as a 4-y-o. Did well after being gelded, winning three 1m handicaps on turf; can still rate higher. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Farasi Lane |
(9) 22/1(-38%) | (9) Farasi Lane 22/1, Opened account for present yard at Kempton (1m) last April. Too free returning from 6 months off at Chelmsford in December but more like it when fourth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 22 days ago, not clear run 2f out but keeping. Step back up in trip in his favour now. On a dangerous mark but 0-9 in Class 2 events; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tolstoy |
(7) 25/1(+0%) | (7) Tolstoy 25/1, Hasn't always been the most straightforward but resurgent for present yard, completing a 7f York hat-trick last summer before going in again at Newcastle (1m) in August. Never figured in Cambridgeshire on final start at Newmarket (9f) the following month and current mark demands more. Had a fine year for new connections in 2024; can blow the start; tough task on return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bajan Bandit |
(12) 28/1(-100%) | (12) Bajan Bandit 28/1, Winless on turf last season but lightly raced on all-weather and he comes here having landed 2 of his last 3 starts in handicaps at Southwell, the latest over 7f 2 weeks ago. This undoubtedly tougher from revised mark, though. Two Southwell wins this year but in CLass 4 company; more required to take this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Silent Age |
(10) 33/1(+18%) | (10) Silent Age 33/1, Record of 2-4 when trained by Charlie Appleby (both on AW, including over C&D). Not disgraced on back of 10 months off when 4½ lengths sixth of 9 to Zoffandia in handicap at Kempton (1m) 17 days ago, albeit better placed than most. Entitled to be sharper but others appeal more. Lightly raced and his stable debut/reappearance wasn't too bad; career best needed though. |
Having returned to form with a close-up second at Chelmsford 86 days ago, last year's winner KINGDOM COME may be crowned king once more. A 1lb rise in the ratings shouldn't inconvenience the six-year-old and he gets the nod over Symbol Of Light. Julie Camacho's gelding looked better than ever when making all at Southwell last month, but an 8lb higher mark does demand more of him. Great Chieftain and Final Voyage are others to consider.
It may pay to side with one of the 4-y-os with Richard Hannon's LOCAL HERO narrowly selected to come out on top. He shaped with plenty of promise in attempting to come from a long way back when fourth behind re-opposing Zoffandia at Kempton recently and there's a good chance there's more to come from him on all-weather. The latter is an unexposed sort himself and feared, along with last year's 1-2 Kingdom Come and Final Voyage. Symbol of Light is another with a shout.
Whip Cracker looks pick of the 4yos but TWO TEMPTING (nap) had a fine 2024 campaign and can make a winning reappearance.

![]() Ruby Island |
(5) 10/3(+26%) | (5) Ruby Island 10/3, Won on hurdles debut here in 2022. Lightly raced since but has run creditably in three starts for new stable, rallying to finish second at Carlisle (19.3f, good to soft) 19 days ago. Makes plenty of appeal with longer trip expected to suit. Excellent runner-up at Carlisle latest; this longer trip promises to suit so big shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lavida Adiva |
(2) 5/1(-82%) | (2) Lavida Adiva 5/1, Progressive mare bagged an Aintree handicap (2½m, soft) on Boxing Day and ran every bit as well in defeat when not enjoying a smooth passage finishing second of 6 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (20.6f) last month. She's going the right way and there could well be more improvement to come. Very good second in Market Rasen h'cap 18 days ago; up 3lb but she's firmly in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Anamanda |
(11) 6/1(+63%) | (11) Anamanda 6/1, Finished creditable second over C&D on penultimate run and backed that up when third of 8 in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (23.8f, good to soft) 20 days ago. In good heart but this is a step up in class and she'll need to improve from 5 lb out of the handicap. In good form, third at Musselburgh 20 days ago; 5lb out of the handicap here though. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fox's Fancy |
(8) 15/2(-25%) | (8) Fox's Fancy 15/2, Lightly-raced maiden hurdle winner improved for switch to handicaps when fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Wetherby (24.1f) in October and she could well be open to more improvement now back in mares company. Very interesting if ready to roll on return. Good fourth at Wetherby in October; needs considering despite near five-month layoff. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sunday Soldier |
(1) 8/1(-23%) | (1) Sunday Soldier 8/1, Improved in leaps and bounds over hurdles last season, completing a 5-timer in handicaps. Has shown enough this season to suggest she can go close from this sort of mark. Exceed expectations latest when keeping on to finish second in a mares Listed event and remains of interest back in a handicap. In good nick, runner-up in 2m5f Listed at Warwick latest; ought to be in the shake-up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Just Call Me Lucy |
(7) 12/1(-100%) | (7) Just Call Me Lucy 12/1, Bumper winer was off the mark in this sphere in 10-runner novice hurdle at Wetherby (19.7f, soft) on Boxing Day but denied herself the chance to follow up that victory when blundering 3 out last time, second of 5 at Carlistle (19.2f). Steps into warmer waters for handicap hurdle debut. Progressive sort; good second in Carlisle novice latest; not discounted now handicapping. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sunset Hill |
(3) 14/1(-27%) | (3) Sunset Hill 14/1, Opened hurdles account in 21f novice at Kelso in December before posting an excellent second of 7 in a Southwell handicap on New Year's Day. Ran to a similar level latest when fifth of 6 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen, not suited by emphasis on speed. Should enjoy this stiffer test. Won at Kelso in December and a good close fifth at Market Rasen 18 days ago; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Anti Bridgie |
(9) 14/1(+36%) | (9) Anti Bridgie 14/1, Fairly useful hurdler in 2022/2023 season but has been campaigned over fences since, getting off the mark in a 2m4f chase at Warwick last season. Has gone off the boil this season, pulling up on her last 3 outings. Returns to smaller obstacles, but others in much better form at present. Fairly useful winning hurdler/chaser but pulled up all three starts over fences this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dollar Collar |
(6) 14/1(+50%) | (6) Dollar Collar 14/1, Irish point winner quickly reached a fair level over hurdles last year but has struggled to match that form this season. Handicapper has given her a chance though, and she'd be relatively interesting if the market hints at a return to form. Beat only one in 2m3f Carlisle handicap 19 days ago; she needs to take a big step forward. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Santa Clarita |
(10) 25/1(-39%) | (10) Santa Clarita 25/1, Ran best race for current yard when good second of 18 in a handicap hurdle at this course (20.4f, soft) in January, but followed it up with a very poor effort later that month. Needs to bounce back and faces uphill task from 2 lb out of the handicap. Yet to score for current yard but in good form until pulled up over C&D in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mellificent |
(4) 28/1(-100%) | (4) Mellificent 28/1, Winner on hurdles debut at Carlisle (2½m, soft) last October before finishing mid-field in listed mares' novice events on her next 2 outings. Departed through no fault of her own when sent handicapping on final run for Jonjo O'Neill in April and worth a market check on reappearance/stable debut. Off since unseated third at Aintree last May; needs to hit ground running for new yard. |
Cases can be made for plenty of these, but none more so than LAVIDA ADIVA. The six-year-old won over 2m4f at Aintree two starts ago and was unfortunate to bump into a well-handicapped rival when second at Market Rasen most recently. Sunday Soldier out ran her odds when second in Listed company at Warwick a month ago and she has to be on the shortlist. Others to note are Just Call Me Lucy, Fox's Fancy and Ruby Island.
Course-winner RUBY ISLAND is fairly handicapped on the best of her form, and makes most appeal with this longer trip expected to suit. She'll be best suited if this is a truly-run race, as will Fox's Fancy who is stepping back in distance following a highly encouraging handicap debut last season. The improving Lavida Adiva could be a threat to all if continuing her current upward trajectory.
A few with chances but in-form course scorer RUBY ISLAND can gain a deserved first victory for Nicky Richards now she steps up in trip

![]() Charisma Cat |
(4) 7/4(+22%) | (4) Charisma Cat 7/4, Looked a good prospect when going 2-2 in bumpers at Southwell and Warwick 6 months apart. Posted a good neck second of 10 in listed bumper at Market Rasen last time, just failing under a patient ride. The form choice. Unlucky in Listed grade at Market Rasen last time; 2-2 previously; remains of interest. |

![]() Dream Shadow |
(5) 11/4(+31%) | (5) Dream Shadow 11/4, Irish point winner and scored in this sphere at Uttoxeter in October. Good third of 10 in listed bumper at Market Rasen 50 days ago. Very much one to consider. Ties in with Charisma Cat on Market Rasen running last time; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Supreme Malinas |
(1) 4/1(+11%) | (1) Supreme Malinas 4/1, Irish point winner who landed listed bumper at Huntingdon in December. Recorded a solid third in Windsor bumper in January so she must enter calculations for top yard. Listed scorer on penultimate start; represents last year's winning connections; solid. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() A Path To Ronda |
(2) 8/1(+0%) | (2) A Path To Ronda 8/1, 16/1, made a winning start in 13-runner bumper at Uttoxeter (15.8f, heavy) 67 days ago. This half-sister to the high-class hurdler/top-class chaser Simonsig is open to improvement. Likely player. Nicely bred mare; scored comfortably at Uttoxeter; brings potential to this better race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Philippa's Choice |
(9) 16/1(-33%) | (9) Philippa's Choice 16/1, Built on debut promise when landing 8-runner bumper at Huntingdon 44 days ago, always holding on. May do better still so she can make her presence felt. Solid effort on rules debut; still green but won at Huntingdon since; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Easy Love |
(6) 18/1(-29%) | (6) Easy Love 18/1, Cost €80,000 after winning an Irish point and 10-runner bumper at Plumpton (17.8f) in December. Can improve further so not ruled out. Won at Plumpton last time; this is harder but further progress is possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Gower Spirit |
(7) 20/1(+60%) | (7) Gower Spirit 20/1, Yorgunnabelucky mare. Sister to 2 winners, including useful hurdler/chase winner Lucky Zebo. Market can guide for this newcomer. Sibling to four winners; sole newcomer in the field and it looks a difficult task. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Madame La Papillon |
(8) 50/1(-52%) | (8) Madame La Papillon 50/1, Made a winning bumper debut at Huntingdon last spring and not disgraced after 11 months off when fifth of 13 in similar company at Warwick 28 days ago. Possibilities. Has shown ability in two races but is held by Roses All The Way on latest effort. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Celtic Queen |
(3) 66/1(+0%) | (3) Celtic Queen 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden, posting her best effort when tongue tied and third of 9 in bumper at Wetherby (16f, soft) 35 days ago, clear of rest. This demands more though. Placed in two of her three outings; faces a stiffer assignment upped in class. |
CHARISMA CAT lost her unbeaten record when second in a Listed bumper at Market Rasen most recently. A troubled passage proved costly that day, as she was beaten only a neck and Alan King's progressive mare is taken to resume winning ways. Dream Shadow finished third on that occasion and is likely to prove competitive once again, while Supreme Malinas had the measure of Roses All The Way when successful at Huntingdon in December and is worthy of consideration on that form.
CHARISMA CAT went down only narrowly at Market Rasen last time having been patiently ridden and is taken to quickly resume winning ways and go 3-4. Dream Shadow came in a place behind Alan King's mare that day and rates the main danger, although the unexposed Uttoxeter scorer A Path To Ronda could also have a say along with Supreme Malinas and Roses All The Way.
Leading form contender CHARISMA CAT is taken to gain compensation for her unlucky defeat last time. Dream Shadow is second pick.

![]() Staff Sergeant Len |
(4) 7/2(+59%) | (4) Staff Sergeant Len 7/2, Belatedly produced something akin to his near miss in a Fontwell bumper last January when, equipped with first-time cheekpieces (retained), finishing fourth of 16 on handicap debut at Warwick (19f, good to soft). Each-way chance if able to build on that. Not beaten far on handicap debut despite meeting trouble; remains capable of better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tracking Treasure |
(1) 4/1(+47%) | (1) Tracking Treasure 4/1, No impact in a couple of bumpers in Ireland for previous connections but has shown ability switched to hurdles for present yard and may well raise his game now upped in trip for this handicap debut. Some promise in novices; this longer trip should suit; interesting on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Dream Goes On |
(5) 4/1(+80%) | (5) The Dream Goes On 4/1, Just modest form over hurdles so far and sloppy jumping did her no favours on handicap debut when last seen at the end of October. Improvement needed back from a break here. Made mistakes and well held on handicap debut at Stratford; off five months since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Diamond Days |
(6) 4/1(+20%) | (6) Diamond Days 4/1, Left maiden/novice form behind when finding just one too strong on handicap debut at Lingfield (2m, soft) last time. Clearly plenty of room for improvement in the jumping department but he's unexposed and this step up in trip looks a good move. High on the list after showing improved form on handicap debut last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Nothinelsematters |
(13) 8/1(+60%) | (13) Nothinelsematters 8/1, Maiden who posted one of his better efforts when fifth in an 11-runner Southwell handicap in December. However, he misfired in first-time cheekpieces (retained) back at that course 19 days ago and now tried in a tongue strap. Nine-race maiden over hurdles; no improvement in cheekpieces last time; tongue-strap on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Head Over Hinds |
(8) 8/1(+84%) | (8) Head Over Hinds 8/1, Little to get excited about in bumpers/novice hurdles and sizeable step forward needed now pitched into a handicap with a first-time tongue strap enlisted. Followed good C&D run with poor one at Chepstow; handicap debut in tongue-strap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mokoro |
(10) 14/1(+0%) | (10) Mokoro 14/1, In top hands but failed to find any improvement for the step up to 20.4f/switch to handicap company at Southwell recently. Represents leading stable but has shown modest form at best, making mistakes last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Pooley's Promise |
(11) 20/1(0%) | (11) Pooley's Promise 20/1, Little promise in a bumper and 3 completed starts over hurdles. Hard to warm to on this handicap debut. Hasn't beaten many rivals in five starts under rules, triple-figure odds each time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sonic Gold |
(2) 33/1(+67%) | (2) Sonic Gold 33/1, Runner-up sole start in points but that was back in 2020 and he hasn't shown much in 5 runs under Rules. Some late headway here in January but then ran poorly on handicap debut; enough to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Polly Pi |
(9) 33/1(+34%) | (9) Polly Pi 33/1, Some signs of ability in a couple of bumpers but she's shown nothing since switched to hurdles. Some ability in bumpers but hasn't shown much over hurdles, 50-1 last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() As Good As Can Be |
(14) 40/1(+20%) | (14) As Good As Can Be 40/1, No impact between the flags or under Rules to date and he's readily passed over. Yet to finish in the first six in points or under rules so hard to recommend. |
LYLE VIEW justified favouritism when opening her account in ready fashion at Southwell last month. Although a 9lb rise demands more from Neil Mulholland's mare, there is likely more to come on just her fourth outing in handicap company. Diamond Days arrives on the back of a second-placed handicap debut at Lingfield and the five-year-old may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Tracking Treasure.
The unexposed LYLE VIEW did the job well when opening her account at Southwell and she looks capable of defying a 9 lb rise in the weights. Diamond Days took a step forward when runner-up on his handicap debut, despite an error-strewn round of jumping, and he looks dangerous now moving up in trip. Tracking Treasure and Staff Sergeant Len are others to consider.
Lyle View had plenty in hand when landing a gamble at Southwell but DIAMOND DAYS is also unexposed and gets the verdict.

![]() Bal Kauto |
(14) 8/1(-100%) | (14) Bal Kauto 8/1, Fair winner at 23f in chases. Career best when winning 7-runner handicap chase at Downpatrick (19.2f, good to soft, 6/5), cruising clear. Off 21 months so needs to hit the ground running. Well treated relative to chase mark, off for 630 days, market should provide clues. |

(3) 22/1(-38%) | (3) Bynx 22/1, 20/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (20f, good to soft) 5 days ago, behind when pulled up early in straight. Others more persuasive. 2-27 over hurdles, both wins at Tramore, struggled at Leopardstown on Monday. |

![]() Brilliant Question |
(18) 33/1(-18%) | (18) Brilliant Question 33/1, Winner in hurdle at Limerick in January 2024. Below form seventh of 14 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (16f, good to soft, 16/1). Off 9 months. Sole win was off 6lb lower, off since a midfield run at Listowel last June; may need this. |

![]() Give Him A Chance |
(17) 33/1(+0%) | (17) Give Him A Chance 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, twelfth of 18 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.1f, soft) 23 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Open to improvement. Maiden form does not amount to much, first handicap, perhaps unwise to rule out. |

![]() Ballycallan King |
(1) 33/1(+18%) | (1) Ballycallan King 33/1, Tenth of 11 in handicap hurdle (66/1) at Naas (15.7f, good to soft) 28 days ago. Has struggled since winning at Limerick last April, in rear at Naas four weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Vilja Song |
(16) 33/1(+18%) | (16) Vilja Song 33/1, Sixth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (16f, heavy, 25/1) 39 days ago. Hood on 1st time. Third in a maiden at Kilbeggan last autumn, three handicap runs have been poor, hooded now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Princess Fiadh |
(20) 100/1(-52%) | (20) Princess Fiadh 100/1, Fourteenth of 15 in handicap hurdle (150/1) at Punchestown (20.1f, heavy) 12 days ago, folding. Weak form in maidens, 150-1 when in rear at Punchestown in her first handicap, 4lb wrong. |
BAL KAUTO gets the vote, despite being off the track for nearly two years since completing a hat-trick in the space of just over three weeks. The Declan Queally-trained gelding landed a 2m3f Limerick handicap hurdle before two easy wins over fences, and his timber mark remains at a lowly level. Market support would greatly increase confidence, while others to consider include Love Me and Love Like This. The former won a 23-runner Navan handicap over this trip and has been given a break since disappointing at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. Aboy Joey and Glorytogod Tom are others for the shortlist.
Lots with chances but LOVE ME rates just the pick of the weights so edges the vote from in-form pair Aboy Joey and Glorytogod Tom. Love Like This and Paul's Dream also need factoring into this open handicap.
The big question is whether BAL KAUTO will be ready for this after a long absence. His stable's form this season is a positive

![]() Jabaara |
(7) 15/8(+0%) | (7) Jabaara 15/8, Useful filly. 5/2, head second of 9 to Raqiya in Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood in July (first past the post but drifted right and subsequently disqualified). Off 7 months but still merits serious consideration on her tapeta debut with yard going well. Made good progress last summer and not fully exposed; going left handed a slight niggle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fair Angellica |
(6) 4/1(+20%) | (6) Fair Angellica 4/1, Useful filly. Respectable fourth of 11 to Great Generation in Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster (7f, good to soft, 9/2). Off 174 days. Makes tapeta debut. Shortlisted. Progressive last year; 3-3 on AW; may do better still but easy lead would appear unlikely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Witch Hunter |
(5) 9/2(+18%) | (5) Witch Hunter 9/2, Smart gelding. C&D winner. 9/1, sixth of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 8 days ago. Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. Classy on his day and recent return came in a race not run to suit; capable of a big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Royal Zabeel |
(3) 11/2(+61%) | (3) Royal Zabeel 11/2, Useful gelding. C&D winner. Latest win here in January. Creditable second of 11 in handicap (13/8) at Southwell (7.1f) 22 days ago. Ought to be thereabouts again. Rapidly improving 4yo; tough task on official figures but suspicion he'll run a big race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Willem Twee |
(4) 9/1(-13%) | (4) Willem Twee 9/1, Smart gelding. Course winner. Below-form ninth of 12 to Night Raider in listed race (14/1) at Newcastle (6f). Off 112 days. Not taken lightly if shrugging off latest effort. Big chance if at his best but he failed to fire twice last autumn; has a rare 7f run today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Al Shabab Storm |
(1) 11/1(-144%) | (1) Al Shabab Storm 11/1, Smart gelding. 8/1, 17 lengths last of 9 to Kinross in Park Stakes at Doncaster (7f, good) 175 days ago on his final run for Andrew Balding. Still much respected on his yard/tapeta debut. Progressive last year; unpenalised for Group 3 win; should enjoy the track; stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Golden Mind |
(2) 22/1(-100%) | (2) Golden Mind 22/1, Useful gelding. 22/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Kempton (6f) 24 days ago. Merits consideration. Enjoyed an easy lead at Kempton last month (6f); more required to win at this level. |
Al Shabab Storm was probably feeling the exertions of a long season when finishing last in the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster in September. Now under the tutelage of Marco Botti, the four-year-old isn't taken lightly but may struggle to concede 5lb to JABAARA. The daughter of Exceed And Excel finished a cracking second in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket last July and she rates as the one to beat. Fair Angellica is the pick of the remainder.
This is wide open but Roger Varian has his string in good nick so JABAARA is taken to return in style on her first go on tapeta. Recent Kempton scorer Golden Mind heads the list of dangers with Willem Twee and Al Shabab Storm also worthy of consideration in this intriguing listed event.
Jabaara can progress further this year but WITCH HUNTER can show the benefit of last week's return to action.

![]() Apologise |
(3) 9/4(-13%) | (3) Apologise 9/4, Signed off for Greenall/Guerriero with a win in November 2023 and picked up from where he'd left off when landing 18-runner handicap at Limerick over Christmas. Took another big step forward when scoring at Clonmel recently (in cheekpieces) and the British handicapper has reacted accordingly. On the up for current yard, scoring at Limerick/Clonmel; hiked up 16lb but well in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Thereisnodoubt |
(6) 4/1(+56%) | (6) Thereisnodoubt 4/1, Veteran returned to form when fourth at Haydock in December. Not so good at Newbury in January but ran respectably in first-time cheekpieces having reverted to making the running when third at Carlisle (17f, soft) last time. Down another 2 lb but others more appealing for win purposes. Back on track in first-time cheekpieces with Carlisle third latest; no forlorn hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Perseus Way |
(4) 5/1(+85%) | (4) Perseus Way 5/1, Useful winning juvenile hurdler for Gary Moore in 2022/23. Recorded couple of respectable placed efforts on Flat for Owen Burrows in autumn 2023 but no show over hurdles in 4 starts for Christian Williams and it was a similar story for his new yard here recently. Beat only one for new yard in handicap hurdle here 12 days ago; others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bashful |
(1) 11/2(-175%) | (1) Bashful 11/2, Landed Musselburgh handicap hurdle (for second year in a row) last month having seemingly been laid out for the race and better than ever when following up from an 11 lb higher mark at Kelso (16.2f, soft) just over 3 weeks ago. Up another 5 lb but hard to discount in his current mood. Much improved since wind op and on hat-trick after wins at Musselburgh/Kelso; big player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Medieval Gold |
(7) 8/1(-129%) | (7) Medieval Gold 8/1, Fairly useful on Flat for William Haggas and made a good start over hurdles for new yard last year, going one better than on debut when winning maiden at Perth in May. Matched that form on handicap debut/return when third at Haydock (18.9f, heavy) 11 weeks ago and fancied to build on that. Won at Perth in May before a good Haydock third seven months later; needs considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Freddy Robinson |
(5) 11/1(-38%) | (5) Freddy Robinson 11/1, Had a productive time of it on the Flat last year and continued the good work in this sphere, runner-up at Musselburgh in November before filling same spot at Sedgefield in January. Possibly found the race coming too soon at former course 6 days later so given a 5-week break to freshen up. In good form until only eighth at Musselburgh last month; he's the sort to bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mack The Man |
(2) 12/1(+45%) | (2) Mack The Man 12/1, Veteran who responded well to fitting of a visor, gaining a third win of 2024 over C&D in November. Found his run of good form coming to a halt of late, losing touch 4 out at Kelso just over 3 weeks ago. Others in better heart at present. C&D winner in November but this veteran has gone off the boil; has something to prove. |
Bashful may have been worth more than the winning margin suggests when going in by a length at Kelso last time and he holds an obvious chance off 6lb higher. However, it may pay to side with APOLOGISE, who is unbeaten in two starts since joining the Gary McGill stable. Considering the manner of his success at Clonmel last time, he could prove tough to beat. Thereisnodoubt is another to watch out for.
Cases can be made for most of the septet, but the suggestion is MEDIEVAL GOLD, who matched his previous exploits over hurdles switched to a handicap when third on return at Haydock in December and Micky Hammond's 5-y-o remains unexposed in this discipline. Apologise is thriving at present, so he heads up the dangers in search of an impressive 4-timer, with Bashful and Freddy Robinson taken to fight out minor honours.
Preference is for hat-trick seeker BASHFUL who hasn't looked back since undergoing a breathing operation and can defy a career-high mark

![]() Hoe Joly Smoke |
(4) 9/4(+32%) | (4) Hoe Joly Smoke 9/4, Point winner who confirmed chase debut promise when scoring over C&D (good to soft) on penultimate start. Ultimately disappointing at Newbury next time (travelled notably well before finding little at the business end) but there was an excuse (reportedly bled) and he's worth another chance. Well beaten at Newbury latest but progressive previously; could bounce back with bold show. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Goshen |
(1) 4/1(+33%) | (1) Goshen 4/1, Very smart hurdler at his best. Opened chase account at third attempt on final run at Exeter last term and, following a couple of spins over the smaller obstacles, he wasn't disgraced back in this sphere at Ascot (23.8f, good) 3 weeks ago. Needs considering down 3 lb in this lower-grade handicap. Somewhat mercurial but he's run pretty well the last twice; drops in grade & likes it here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Excello |
(2) 4/1(+43%) | (2) Excello 4/1, French import who showed useful form when winning a 21f Ascot graduation chase last winter. Placed in 3 novices back hurdling this winter but safely held in an Exeter handicap in that sphere on latest start and he's opposable now returned to fences Not at his best over hurdles this term but chasing seems his preferred discipline; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dreaming Blue |
(5) 9/2(-80%) | (5) Dreaming Blue 9/2, Resumed winning ways at Ludlow in December and has backed that up with creditable efforts in defeat at Kempton and over this C&D the last twice. Drying ground no bad thing for this 8-y-o and he should be in the thick of things once again. Three wins last year and good second over C&D last time; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hubrisko |
(3) 7/1(+42%) | (3) Hubrisko 7/1, Useful chaser at best for Willie Mullins and bettered what he showed on first 2 starts for this yard when fourth in a 6-runner Musselburgh handicap (23.6f, good to soft) last time. Down another 2 lb and he's of interest here for his burgeoning, in-form yard. Needs to build on his fair Musselburgh fourth but that's possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Java Point |
(6) 9/1(-64%) | (6) Java Point 9/1, Largely consistent sort who made a bright start to this season when runner-up at Cheltenham in November. By no means disgraced in a valuable handicap at the same course next time but rather blotted his copybook when pulled up at Ascot on his latest start. Pulled up at Ascot last time but in higher grade; won over C&D last February; interesting. |
GOSHEN arrives on the back of a respectable fifth in a competitive handicap at Ascot and a similar effort should see the nine-year-old feature here, given he was winning off a higher mark at this time last year. Hoe Joly Smoke scored over course and distance in December and can make his presence felt despite a 7lb higher rating, while Dreaming Blue is another to consider having finished a creditable runner-up over these fences last month.
HOE JOLY SMOKE has been given a short break following his below par display at Newbury and, if over whatever caused him to check out so tamely on that occasion, he may well resume winning ways having scored in good style here on his penultimate start. Dreaming Blue lost little caste in defeat when second to a bang in-form rival on deep ground over C&D last time and he is a much-respected main danger. Goshen is best of the rest.
The return to Sandown and drop back down in grade could prompt a revival from C&D winner JAVA POINT. Dreaming Blue is feared most.

![]() Yes Day |
(1) 11/8(+50%) | (1) Yes Day 11/8, Point winner who landed a Uttoxeter maiden hurdle in October 2023 and placed on several occasions since, including when third at Market Rasen (23.9f, good to soft) last month, lacking a late change of pace. Step up in trip a plus so can feature with conditional taking 7 lb off his back. Promising as a novice hurdler last season and has taken quite well to fences this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Gris Majeur |
(4) 3/1(+70%) | (4) Gris Majeur 3/1, Point/bumper winner who capitalised on falling mark when registering a third career success over hurdles at this track in October. Back to form when just denied over fences at Ffos Las last month but ran a stinker in his bid to go one better here just under 2 weeks ago. Bounce back needed. Close second at Ffos Las last month but pulled up here since; hard to predict. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Langley Hundred |
(2) 10/3(-33%) | (2) Langley Hundred 10/3, Bounced back to capitalise on a reduced mark and end a losing run over C&D in November and having just been touched off next time, quickly resumed winning ways at Taunton (23f, good to soft) in December. Freshened up since and should go well in his current mood. Dual chase winner (once over C&D) in late 2024; on tough mark now but still respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Micro Millions |
(6) 8/1(+0%) | (6) Micro Millions 8/1, Won an Irish point and made the frame 3 times over hurdles for Dan Skelton last term. Low-key efforts first 3 starts over fences for this yard but fared better than previously when runner-up over C&D just under 2 weeks ago, though went with little fluency. More severe headgear tried. Plugged on for modest second over C&D last month but overall profile not appealing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() House Of Stories |
(3) 9/1(-38%) | (3) House Of Stories 9/1, Point winner who was off 2½ years prior to last season, building on his hurdling debut effort when awarded a Chepstow maiden in January 2024. However, he was pulled up handicap on debut the following month and it was a similar story on return/chase bow recently. Hard to warm to. Pulled up in first two handicaps (hurdle/chase); leap of faith needed to support him here. |
YES DAY finished a respectable third at Market Rasen last month and the addition of Ben Macey's 7lb claim could help him to break his chasing duck. C&D winner Langley Hundred arrives on the back of justifying favouritism at Taunton and is still on an upward curve so has to be feared. House Of Stories pulled up on his fencing bow at Chepstow, but the application of a tongue-tie and cheekpieces might help harness his potential.
A few in with a squeak but YES DAY showed something like his chasing debut form when third at Market Rasen last month and, remaining well treated judged on his hurdles form, Jonjo & A. J. O'Neill's 7-y-o is fancied to open his account in this sphere with this extra distance also in his favour. How And Ever was an all-the-way winner at Southwell last month so he looks the most obvious danger, with Langley Hundred rounding off the shortlist having been freshened up.
Preference is for YES DAY (nap), who is well handicapped on hurdling form and posted a sound effort when third over fences last month.

(16) 14/1(+44%) | (16) Smackwater Jack 14/1, One win from 21 NH runs. Respectable fifth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20.1f, heavy, 28/1) 12 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Expected to be bang there. Only minor promise when fifth at Punchestown on his return; others look more reliable. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cosmo Renfro |
(6) 16/1(-45%) | (6) Cosmo Renfro 16/1, 13/2, creditable fifth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (24.8f, heavy) 12 days ago. Others more persuasive. Three non-completions from 5 starts this season; ran okay over hurdles at Punchestown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Drop The Anchor |
(2) 20/1(-25%) | (2) Drop The Anchor 20/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2021. Visored for 1st time, seventh of 18 in handicap hurdle (66/1) at this course (24.3f, heavy) 44 days ago, finding test too much. Looks competitive on form. Well beaten seventh of 18 at this course over 3m latest; hard to fancy on recent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Van Demon |
(5) 28/1(-40%) | (5) Van Demon 28/1, Fairly useful Flat winner. Thrice-raced maiden over hurdles. First run for yard after leaving Noel Meade. Booking of Millar a plus. Makes handicap hurdle debut. Plenty to find on form. Showed ability in a couple of strong maiden hurdles but has parted ways with Noel Meade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kiln Time |
(19) 28/1(+15%) | (19) Kiln Time 28/1, 22/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, twelfth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (20.1f, heavy) 12 days ago. Twice successful over hurdles; badly out of form this season; headgear combination tried. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dragon's Pass |
(12) 33/1(0%) | (12) Dragon's Pass 33/1, Below form fifteenth of 23 in handicap hurdle (80/1) at Leopardstown (19.8f, good) 70 days ago. Tongue strap back on. Has fallen to a workable mark. Beaten a combined 55l on her two handicap runs so far this term; stick a line through her. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ballinoe Blaze |
(9) 50/1(-100%) | (9) Ballinoe Blaze 50/1, Tenth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (24.8f, heavy, 22/1) 12 days ago. Combination of tough mark and 3m1f saw him run no race at Punchestown on handicap bow. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Queen Of Seduction |
(11) 80/1(-100%) | (11) Queen Of Seduction 80/1, Pulled up in handicap hurdle (66/1) at Clonmel (16f, heavy) 9 days ago, losing place early in straight. Up in trip. Cheekpieces on 1st time over jumps (on when winning on the Flat). Unable to sustain strong pace under forceful tactics when pulled up in Clonmel handicap. |
KINGKONG CIERGUES merits plenty of respect after being pipped by a head in Fairyhouse. He races off 2lb lower with Tiernan Power Roche's claim factored in. Knockbrack Rambler is up in class after obliging at Limerick over Christmas. Given that the third home has come out and won twice, he should be a factor in this company. Joya Del Mar showed good improvement to chase home the winner at Fairyhouse and she could build upon that. Ray Hackett had a winner at Thurles during the week and his Roc My Haarth has stronger claims than most, while Doyen Flyer and Cosmo Renfro aren't out of it.
ROC MY HAARTH is gradually getting the hang of things and he took a step forward when a fine third on his recent handicap debut at Limerick. The 6-y-o is taken to emerge on top here, with Smackwater Jack and Drop The Anchor nominated as the main dangers in that order of preference.
Perhaps KNOCKBRACK RAMBLER can back up his December win at Limerick as the form has been well-advertised by the third

![]() Miami Matrix |
(3) 15/8(-36%) | (3) Miami Matrix 15/8, Promising Invincible Spirit colt who built on debut promise to land 12-runner maiden at this C&D (15/8) 12 days ago. Open to more progress and he's the one to beat. Promise on debut before an easy C&D win 12 days ago; big player despite a 7lb penalty. |

One to consider on his first run. Eighth foal with his seven siblings all successful; dam a Group 3 winner; interesting. |

(5) 12/1(-60%) | (5) Art Of Fox 12/1, Mehmas gelding. Half-brother to 1¼m winner Fox Avatar. Dam 2-y-o 5f/6f winner. Considered newcomer. Half-brother to 1m2f winner Fox Avatar (RPR 75); dam a useful sprinter; betting to guide. |

![]() Arizona Rock |
(4) 14/1(+0%) | (4) Arizona Rock 14/1, Finished well when a promising fourth of 12 to Miami Matrix in maiden at this C&D (16/1) on debut 12 days ago. Sure to do better. Over 7l behind Miami Matrix here 12 days ago but likely to close that gap today. |

![]() It's Tim |
(1) 125/1(-25%) | (1) It's Tim 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. Last of 6 in novice at Southwell (7.1f, 80/1) 24 days ago, unsuited by drop in trip. Plenty to find on form here though. Modest form in two runs this year; will be of more interest in handicaps over further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Crackamour |
(6) 125/1(-89%) | (6) Crackamour 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. Seventh of 8 in novice at Lingfield (8f, AW, 125/1). Off 109 days with work to do. Down the field in two 1m runs last November; handicaps over 1m+ more suitable after this. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fighting Queen |
(2) 150/1(-88%) | (2) Fighting Queen 150/1, 4,000 gns 3-y-o, Iffraaj filly. Dam, 1m winner, half-sister to very smart 1m-16.2f winner Raymond Tusk. 4,000gns 3yo; first foal of a 1m AW winner (RPR 91); best watched on belated debut. |
MIAMI MATRIX supplemented his debut third at Newcastle when opening his account over C&D 12 days ago. Although a 7lb penalty demands more of Hugo Palmer's colt, his race experience could prove crucial. Art Of Fox, a half-brother to the 76-rated Fox Avatar, is the most attractive of the newcomers judged on pedigree, although market support for Fearnot and Honved would be interesting.
Hugo Palmer's MIAMI MATRIX got off the mark in good style over C&D recently and looks the way to go here with further improvement very much on the cards from this son of Invincible Spirit. Newcomers Honved (second choice) and Fearnot both appeal on paper and are in good hands too so could emerge as the main dangers.
Miami Matrix sets the standard but there are some interesting newcomers on show. HONVED could be worth chancing.

![]() Cave Court |
(1) 15/8(+17%) | (1) Cave Court 15/8, In good form over hurdles this winter, scoring at Naas 6 weeks ago. Did well in this sphere last season so is an interesting runner back over fences. Naas hurdles scorer latest; dual winning chaser last term so merits serious consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ned Tanner |
(3) 5/2(+25%) | (3) Ned Tanner 5/2, Back on track fitted with headgear/tongue tie when scoring at Haydock and backed that up with good seconds there and Kelso. Likely to go well again. Rejuvenated of late and a very good second at Kelso latest; can make his presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Artic Row |
(5) 9/2(+0%) | (5) Artic Row 9/2, Successful 3 times over C&D last season, including this corresponding race. Failed to complete first 2 starts this autumn but back on track when placed the last twice, beaten only by a bright prospect over C&D latest. Needs considering. C&D scorer; good second here 25 days ago; ought to be in the shake-up off the same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dare To Shout |
(2) 5/1(-11%) | (2) Dare To Shout 5/1, A fairly useful winning hurdler who built on a promising chase debut when landing a 4-runner contest at Carlisle. Runner-up all 3 starts since, chasing home a well-treated sort over extended 23f at Kelso 3 weeks ago. Respected. In good nick, runner-up in Kelso h'cap chase 22 days ago; he can go well again eased 1lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mr Saxobeat |
(4) 9/1(-80%) | (4) Mr Saxobeat 9/1, Losing run is mounting up but easy to excuse latest run from out of the handicap. Not beaten far at Leopardstown the time before so not impossible. In decent nick, ninth in strong 2m1f Leopardstown handicap chase last month; possibilities. |
Cave Court was successful over the smaller obstacles at Naas on his most recent start and is an interesting contender back over fences. However, the vote goes to previous course winner NED TANNER, who was beaten two lengths into second in a good race at Kelso last month. The nine-year-old is only 1lb higher and he looks the way to go. Artic Row completes the shortlist.
CAVE COURT has thrived over hurdles this winter and can continue the good work back over fences (at least as good in this sphere). Arctic Row has an excellent record around here and is feared most ahead of the in-form Ned Tanner.
The vote goes to the progressive Irish challenger CAVE COURT who can return in style to fences and follow up his Naas hurdling success

![]() Walks Like The Man |
(7) 13/8(+68%) | (7) Walks Like The Man 13/8, Bettered low-key chase/yard debut when fourth to New Order at Warwick on penultimate start. Progressed again when scoring from the front at Plumpton (19.8f, soft) last time and while more will be needed up 4 lb in this stronger race, he could have more to offer in this sphere. Won at Plumpton last month; back up in grade but remains open to further improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Don't Tell Su |
(4) 4/1(+11%) | (4) Don't Tell Su 4/1, Bumper winner and, having placed on first 3 starts over hurdles last term, he landed the odds in a Wincanton maiden last March. Thereabouts all 4 subsequent appearances and this 7-y-o will be a threat if taking to fences at the first attempt. Consistent over hurdles and top trainer's horses often make better chasers; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Georgi Girl |
(1) 5/1(+38%) | (1) Georgi Girl 5/1, Proved better than ever when scoring readily in a handicap hurdle at Warwick in November. Lacked fluency sent chasing in a listed contest at Exeter (17.5f, soft) last month and while she should come on for that, a far more assured round of jumping will be required round here. Ran respectably when facing tough task on chase debut; could improve now back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Coco Mademoiselle |
(3) 11/2(-144%) | (3) Coco Mademoiselle 11/2, Winning Irish pointer who also scored twice over hurdles last term. Resumed with a near-miss on chase debut at Worcester in September and off for almost 3 months prior to finishing sixth of 13 in a mares' handicap at Cheltenham. Will be a big player if fully tuned-up back from a similar break here. Went close on chase debut at Worcester; didn't build on it at Cheltenham but not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() New Order |
(5) 7/1(-56%) | (5) New Order 7/1, Opened chase account following a wind op at Warwick in December and proved his subsequent Newbury capitulation to be too bad to be true when narrowly prevailing at Wetherby (19.4f, heavy) last time. 3 lb rise fair enough and he's a key player. 7yo who is on the up and has won 2 of his last 3 starts; could play another leading role. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hurricane Bay |
(2) 16/1(+36%) | (2) Hurricane Bay 16/1, Dual hurdles winner but has offered little in 2 starts since switched to fences, including on his comeback run following 16 months off in the Wetherby handicap won by New Order. Pulled up last month after absence but well treated on his 2022-23 novice hurdle form. |
Punters will need to be in a forgiving mood to side with COCO MADEMOISELLE, but it may pay to do so. Dan Skelton's mare was last seen finishing a below-par sixth in a warm Cheltenham handicap over an extended 2m4f, but she was in fine form prior to that and retains plenty of potential over fences. Walks Like The Man did it well when making all over 2m3f at Plumpton last month and commands respect off 4lb higher, while fellow last-time-out winner New Order completes the shortlist.
COCO MADEMOISELLE is probably capable of a good deal better than her current mark implies and she is taken to make it third time lucky over fences. If Don't Tell Su's jumping passes the test now tackling the larger obstacles he will be a threat, while last-time-out winners New Order and Walks Like The Man also enter the reckoning.
Four-time hurdle winner GEORGI GIRL was a promising third on her chase debut last month and earns the vote now back up in trip.

![]() Seraphic |
(5) 2/1(+75%) | (5) Seraphic 2/1, Won claiming hurdle in France (in tongue tie, refitted here) but has been disappointing on these shores. Offered little on stable debut when last of 12 at Warwick 15 days ago, although he should be sharper for that run and isn't totally discounted racing from a career-low mark in a moderate contest. Placed on the Flat in January but struggled when back hurdling for new stable last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Greatness Awaits |
(1) 5/2(-100%) | (1) Greatness Awaits 5/2, Bounced back to his best for current yard when making all in first-time blinkers (retained) to land a handicap hurdle at Ludlow (15.8f) 9 days ago. Still fairly handicapped off a 2 lb higher mark and there's every chance he can follow up that victory. Held on well to make all at Ludlow last week and was nudged up only 2lb for that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Time Interval |
(2) 4/1(-60%) | (2) Time Interval 4/1, Winner of a C&D maiden on stable debut last May (keen and asserted close home) but only raced once subsequently, finishing last of 9 on the Flat (after 7-months off) in December. That raises some questions about his well-being but decent claims if back on song after a further 78-day absence. C&D maiden winner last spring; well beaten on Flat since but still unexposed over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mambo Beat |
(7) 8/1(+76%) | (7) Mambo Beat 8/1, Flat winner in 2023 and placed in a handicap at this venue last season. However, he's been out of sorts this season and has a bit to prove now fitted with first-time cheekpieces. Back fro break with three heavy defeats this winter; cheekpieces added today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() For You Buzz |
(6) 10/1(-150%) | (6) For You Buzz 10/1, Workforce gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to smart hurdler/high-class chaser (stayed 21f) Felix Yonger. Didn't achieve much in qualifying runs, not given hard time when third of 6 in juvenile hurdle at Taunton latest and while handicaps should suit better, he may find this test on the sharp side. Showed some promise against own age-group in late 2024; makes handicap debut today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Just The Man |
(3) 25/1(+0%) | (3) Just The Man 25/1, Placed twice last summer but hard to get excited by his efforts on the Flat or over hurdles since. Arrives with plenty to prove on reappearance. Out of form last year; needs to have been revitalised by 169-day break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() L'empire Vert |
(4) 40/1(-21%) | (4) L'empire Vert 40/1, A fair maiden hurdler in France and showed a bit more than he did over fences on stable debut when seventh of 12 in handicap hurdle (100/1) at Chepstow (19.4f, heavy) last month. Remains to be seen if he can build on that back in distance on less testing ground. Pulled up in a chase on British debut and soundly beaten over hurdles since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Victor Haze |
(9) 100/1(-150%) | (9) Victor Haze 100/1, Well-held in maiden/novice hurdles and faces an uphill task from 7 lb out of the weights on handicap hurdle debut. Showed no significant promise in his qualifying races; 7lb wrong for handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Minneigh Mozze |
(8) 150/1(-50%) | (8) Minneigh Mozze 150/1, Down the field in 2 bumpers for this yard before making little impact over hurdles for Sheila Lewis. Failed to complete on both starts for this yard and others preferred. Pulled up when tried over 3m2f recently and now 0-9; drops back sharply in trip today. |
GREATNESS AWAITS returned to winning ways over 2m at Ludlow recently and a 2lb rise for that success may not be enough to stop him from following up. Time Interval also scored on his latest outing over hurdles, albeit in May last year, and he should not be discounted. The rest all have plenty to prove, but For You Buzz could progress on his handicap debut.
Last-time out winner GREATNESS AWAITS has less to prove than the other market principals, and he can make it back-to-back victories. Time Interval would be a big danger if returning to the form of his C&D success but has to bounce back from an underwhelming outing on the Flat, while Seraphic cannot be ruled out racing from a career-low mark on second start for this stable.
The pick in this modest race is GREATNESS AWAITS, who is still on a workable mark after a 2lb rise for his recent Ludlow success.

(10) 7/2(+30%) | (10) Champagne Mahler 7/2, 10/1, very good second of 10 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (17.1f, soft) 42 days ago. Bold bid expected. Second on handicap debut, steps up in class with fair prospects off a light weight. |

![]() Miss Pronunciation |
(7) 8/1(+33%) | (7) Miss Pronunciation 8/1, 18/1, fell in handicap chase at Naas (20.1f, heavy) 41 days ago, considerately handled. Back down in trip. Should improve. Won three in a row over hurdles last season, jumping has let her down over fences. |

![]() Hands Of Gold |
(11) 17/2(+6%) | (11) Hands Of Gold 17/2, Fairly useful winner at 20f over hurdles. 10/1, fell in handicap chase at this course (20f, heavy) 21 days ago. Two wins over hurdles, ran well up to the point of his fall two out here three weeks ago. |

![]() Grange Walk |
(6) 11/1(-47%) | (6) Grange Walk 11/1, C&D winner. Fifteen runs since last win in 2023. 50/1, third of 14 in handicap chase at Leopardstown (17f, good to soft) 35 days ago. Respected. Ran his best race for some time when third in a valuable 2m1f contest at the DRF. |

![]() Lazer Wolf |
(5) 11/1(-120%) | (5) Lazer Wolf 11/1, Latest win in chase at Clonmel in December. Respectable third of 7 in handicap chase at Naas (16f, heavy, 7/4) 62 days ago. Looks competitive on form. Jumped well when winning a novice handicap at Clonmel, jumping was less proficient at Naas. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rebel Gold |
(2) 12/1(+14%) | (2) Rebel Gold 12/1, C&D winner. 18/1, creditable sixth of 12 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (17.2f, soft) 56 days ago. Good form two seasons ago, on a long losing run and has now reached the veteran stage. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Whiskeywealth |
(3) 18/1(-80%) | (3) Whiskeywealth 18/1, C&D winner. 7/2, below form fifth of 9 in handicap hurdle at Tramore (16.8f, heavy) 66 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Winning favourite in this last year, has been out of form, cheekpieces may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dutch Schultz |
(4) 22/1(-10%) | (4) Dutch Schultz 22/1, Latest win in chase at Killarney in August. Below form seventh of 12 in handicap chase at this course (20f, heavy, 22/1) 21 days ago. Won a handicap chase at Killarney last August, questions to answer after several poor runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Willywampus |
(8) 66/1(-313%) | (8) Willywampus 66/1, 5/2, below form ninth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Thurles (20.2f, good to soft) 99 days ago. Switches from hurdles to chase. Back down in trip. Back chasing now after failing to take advantage of his much lower hurdles mark. |
The form of ONE LAST TANGO's close fourth in a similar grade at Leopardstown over Christmas is working out very well. He was then pipped by a neck at Down Royal in January and gets in off a lovely light weight in this race. Lazer Wolf won at Clonmel in December and ought to be involved. Champagne Mahler is another lurking at the lower end of the weights and there was promise in his runner-up effort on his handicap chase debut at Fairyhouse. Grange Walk's third place at 50/1 in a valuable handicap chase at the Dublin Racing Festival in Leopardstown was a notable effort.
CHAMPAGNE MAHLER bounced back to best on his first go in a handicap chase when second at Fairyhouse 6 weeks ago and looks up to defying this sort of mark. In-form pair One Last Tango and Lazer Wolf are others to consider.
It looks as if ONE LAST TANGO is getting the hang of things over fences and he can add to the three wins he gained over hurdles

(10) 25/1(-108%) | (10) Harbour Vision 25/1, Eight-time course winner, including 2 over this trip in November. 16/1, good second of 10 in C&D handicap 25 days ago, clear of rest. Enters the reckoning. Conditions to suit and he ran well over C&D last month; more required up in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Court Of Session |
(6) 66/1(-65%) | (6) Court Of Session 66/1, Well held on all 3 outings since joining this yard and hard to fancy. Yet to find his best form for new connections; others look more persuasive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Three Yorkshiremen |
(11) 100/1(-52%) | (11) Three Yorkshiremen 100/1, Won at Chelmsford last spring but has struggled since. 66/1, seventh of 10 over C&D 25 days ago, very slowly away . Out of sorts so far this winter; drawn wide and looks vulnerable again. |
INTERVENTION was fourth in a much stronger race than this over 6f at Lingfield eight days ago and he merits plenty of respect off a 3lb lower mark in this company. Harbour Vision hit the crossbar over C&D last time and could make the frame once again, while Follow Your Heart edges out Brunel Nation and Pressure's On to be best of the rest.
FOLLOW YOUR HEART has had a productive winter and may have a fitness edge over returning pair Brunel Nation and Pressure's On.
Follow Your Heart looks solid to go well but THAPA VC could find this being run to suit and he gets the nod.

![]() Master Bricklayer |
(8) 9/2(+10%) | (8) Master Bricklayer 9/2, Back to form in first-time cheekpieces when third of 10 in handicap hurdle here (20.4f, soft) 25 days ago, going in snatches. Not discounted off the same mark. Placed in 2m4f handicaps (including here) and there's stamina in his pedigree. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Didntgotwenty |
(14) 11/2(+54%) | (14) Didntgotwenty 11/2, Lightly-raced sort who posted his best effort when fourth of 8 in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (23.8f, good to soft) 20 days ago. No forlorn hope. Fourth on handicap debut at Musselburgh and this track could be more suitable; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Our Zebo |
(10) 13/2(+54%) | (10) Our Zebo 13/2, Maiden hurdler/chaser who came in a below-par sixth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Musselburgh (23.8f, good to soft) 89 days ago. Needs to take a big step forward after a break. Of interest on last year's point/chase form but no threat back hurdling the last twice. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Miami Steve |
(1) 8/1(+6%) | (1) Miami Steve 8/1, Not disgraced on his handicap debut when last of 4 at Bangor (23.2f, heavy) 29 days ago, needing stiffer test. Enters calculations in his bid for a maiden success. Last of four on handicap debut at Bangor but that may have been a warm little race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Glory Hights |
(9) 8/1(-60%) | (9) Glory Hights 8/1, Got off the mark at Carlisle in November and has continued in good form, fifth of 14 at Doncaster 17 days ago. Weighted to go well eased 1 lb. 9yo who has been in pretty good heart this season and is in with an each-way shout. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Boolamore Classic |
(12) 8/1(+0%) | (12) Boolamore Classic 8/1, Course winner in January and backed it up with a solid third of 11 in handicap hurdle at Wetherby (24.1f, heavy) 44 days ago. Possibilities. Won over 2m5f here in January; faded into third over 3m since but not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fathers Advice |
(15) 12/1(+45%) | (15) Fathers Advice 12/1, Remains a maiden after 30 runs and had a wind op before a below-par fourth of 7 in handicap chase at Catterick (15.7f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Goes back over hurdles with work to do. Now 0-30 and is going beyond an extended 2m4f for the first time; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ninetofive |
(4) 12/1(-140%) | (4) Ninetofive 12/1, Got back on track when second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Newcastle (22f) 39 days ago. Can make his presence felt nudged up 1 lb in bid for breakthrough victory. Runner-up in Newcastle handicap on second start back from a long absence; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jirko |
(7) 16/1(-14%) | (7) Jirko 16/1, Yet to make the frame in three runs over hurdles and came in only eighth of 10 in novice here (16f, soft) 65 days ago. Goes up in trip for his handicap debut with more required. Takes big step up in trip on handicap debut; watch the betting (one of three for the yard). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lord De Vinci |
(2) 18/1(-64%) | (2) Lord De Vinci 18/1, Fair form shown in three starts, fifth of 12 in novice hurdle here (20.4f, soft) 25 days ago. Much respected now going into handicaps. Not obviously well treated off opening mark but could improve for the step up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Monsieur Le Fuzz |
(3) 22/1(-57%) | (3) Monsieur Le Fuzz 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden who failed to improve on his handicap bow when sixth of 9 at Market Rasen (23.1f, good to soft) 50 days ago, going in snatches. Could bounce back now with cheekpieces added. Merely sixth of nine on handicap debut but perhaps the first-time cheekpieces will help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Toucan Sam |
(13) 22/1(+21%) | (13) Toucan Sam 22/1, Remains a maiden after 21 runs and a below-form seventh of 14 in handicap hurdle at Doncaster (24.4f, good) 17 days ago. Others more persuasive. Still a maiden after 21 rules runs and recent evidence doesn't indicate a win is imminent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Alltalknoaction |
(6) 25/1(+24%) | (6) Alltalknoaction 25/1, In the frame in maiden/novice hurdles but he was pulled up on his handicap debut at Wetherby (3m) in January. Improvement needed in first-time blinkers. 40-1 when pulled up on handicap debut at Wetherby; transformation needed now in blinkers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rob Roy Macgregor |
(11) 25/1(+50%) | (11) Rob Roy Macgregor 25/1, Seems to have lost his way, tried in cheekpieces when pulled up at Newcastle last time. Opposable. Bumper winner but he's struggled in handicaps; pulled up on both runs this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Powers Dilemma |
(5) 28/1(+15%) | (5) Powers Dilemma 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden who returned from 9 months off with a poor eighth of 10 in handicap hurdle here (20.4f, soft) 25 days ago. Needs to get back on track. 3m point runner-up who could be a big improver on his second start back from a break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Iturgeon Du Breuil |
(16) 50/1(-52%) | (16) Iturgeon Du Breuil 50/1, Yet to score and he arrives out of sorts, blinkered when tenth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Doncaster (24.4f, good) 17 days ago. Tongue strap goes on for first time. Placed twice in a row last spring but unable to reproduce that promise more recently. |
MASTER BRICKLAYER finished in the money on both previous attempts over hurdles at this venue and he could be worth chancing given his potential for progress in this discipline now he steps up in trip. Ninetofive also appears to be on an upwards trajectory and is another who should appreciate the additional yardage, while Boolamore Classic and Miami Steve are just a couple of other notable contenders.
Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and GLORY HIGHTS is taken to resume winning ways and edge out in-form maidens Miami Steve and Ninetofive. Course-scorer Boolamore Classic is another to consider along with the lightly-raced Didntgotwenty.
Staying may well be POWERS DILEMMA's game and he gets the nod now up in trip on his second start back from an absence.

![]() Classic Anthem |
(7) 2/1(+56%) | (7) Classic Anthem 2/1, Expensive point recruit who tasted success over hurdles here and solid start over larger obstacles, finding only one too good for third time in a C&D handicap 23 days ago. Of interest having eased 1 lb ahead of this. Ran close to best when runner-up over C&D in February; solid claims once more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Triple Trade |
(6) 10/3(+52%) | (6) Triple Trade 10/3, 4-time winner over fences who bettered previous exploits this season tried tongue tied when second of 10 in handicap chase at Kempton (20.5f) 4 weeks ago, sticking at it behind one enjoying a fine season. Definitely worth a second look from this mark. Good second at Kempton; well treated on pick of last term's form; more appealing than most. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Issar D'airy |
(1) 6/1(+8%) | (1) Issar D'airy 6/1, Dual Newbury winner at around 2m last winter who matched reappearance form in first-time cheekpieces when second at Cheltenham (16.3f) in December. Weakened out of things when fourth in handicap at Kempton (20.5f) 4 weeks ago but boasts winning form at this trip and likely to bounce back. Followed good Cheltenham second by fading at Kempton; possibilities if bouncing back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Theformismighty |
(2) 13/2(-117%) | (2) Theformismighty 13/2, Hurdles winner who, as anticipated has improved for switch to chasing, opening account equipped with cheekpieces in handicap at Southwell (20.4f) in December. Below best next time but quickly back on the up when chasing home another improver at Wetherby (19.4f) 24 days ago. Considered. Hit new high when beaten head at Wetherby last month; improving and high on the list. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() No Tackle |
(9) 8/1(+27%) | (9) No Tackle 8/1, Hurdles/chase scorer who went with more zest in change of headgear when a convincing winner of 6-runner Leicester handicap chase (22.7f) 23 days ago. However, strength of that form is dubious and this a much taller ask up in class. Leicester win came in weakish race; will find this tougher off revised mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fire Flyer |
(3) 10/1(-82%) | (3) Fire Flyer 10/1, Dual novice hurdle winner at up to 19f last winter. Didn't kick on in handicaps but sound start in this sphere when runner-up in novices' handicap at Exeter (17.5f) in December. Reportedly bled when pulled up at Kempton on Boxing Day and too soon to be writing him off. Pulled up (bled) at Kempton on Boxing Day and has something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Xcitations |
(5) 10/1(-43%) | (5) Xcitations 10/1, 10-y-o who loves it around here, capitalising on his reduced mark as he took his course record to 3 wins from 4 starts in 4-runner handicap chase (15.5f) 23 days ago. Nudged up only 2 lb on back of that but he does tend to do most of his running at the minimum trip nowadays. 3-4 here, latest win coming three weeks ago; stamina a possible issue beyond 2m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mint Gold |
(8) 16/1(+20%) | (8) Mint Gold 16/1, Veteran chaser who resumed with a good third at Carlisle (2m) in October. Not disgraced in form terms without going with much zest both starts at around 2m since and percentage call to look elsewhere now returning to this longer trip. No obvious excuses at Musselburgh last month and others are preferred. |
XCITATIONS responded well to the application of cheekpieces when scoring over 2m here last month and, upped 2lb stepping back up in trip, he gets the vote to bring up a course double. Theformismighty just failed to get up when second over an extended 2m3f at Wetherby last time and he looks the main danger to the selection off 2lb higher. Triple Trade is becoming attractively handicapped and could also go well.
CLASSIC ANTHEM lines up having again run well when a staying-on second in a C&D handicap 23 days ago, in the process leaving the impression a switch to more forcing tactics would see him in an even better light. He's of interest again from this mark and earns the vote. Triple Trade and Theformismighty may be the pair to give him most to think about in the finale.
Theformismighty is feared but preference is for the well-handicapped TRIPLE TRADE after a more encouraging effort last time.

![]() Celestron Star |
(2) 18/5(+74%) | (2) Celestron Star 18/5, 22/1, never better than midfield when sixth of 12 in bumper at Wincanton on debut 51 days ago. Unable to land a telling blow when midfield at Wincanton in January; improvement required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Gaelic Saint |
(13) 9/2(-100%) | (13) Gaelic Saint 9/2, Promising type. 7/2, third of 8 in bumper at Wincanton (heavy) on NH debut 37 days ago. Sets the standard with improvement likely. Kept on well for third at Wincanton in January and can make her presence felt. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Broadway Honey |
(1) 11/2(-22%) | (1) Broadway Honey 11/2, Zambezi Sun mare. Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser Broadway Boy. Dam unraced. Makes plenty of appeal on paper for a stable which enjoys plenty of bumper success. Half-sister to stable's smart staying chaser Broadway Boy; no surprise if she features. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Unparked |
(10) 6/1(+76%) | (10) Unparked 6/1, Hooded, 23½ lengths seventh of 8 to Supreme Malinas in listed bumper at Huntingdon (heavy) on debut 90 days ago. This is a more realistic assignment. Well beaten when 66-1 for Listed race on debut; will at least find this easier. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Uptown Lass |
(11) 6/1(+14%) | (11) Uptown Lass 6/1, Sent off at 22/1 and failed to land a blow when trailing in last of 8 in a listed bumper at Huntingdon (heavy) in December. The fact she was pitched in at that level on debut suggests she'd been giving the right signals at home. Could prove a different proposition now. Well beaten in a Listed race on debut but is presumably thought capable of much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dream County |
(4) 10/1(-67%) | (4) Dream County 10/1, 10/1, fifth of 8 in bumper at Wincanton (heavy) on debut 37 days ago. Stable also runs Broadway Honey. Shaped with promise when fifth on debut and may fare better on today's faster ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kill The Groove |
(9) 12/1(-9%) | (9) Kill The Groove 12/1, In good hands but no obvious promise on Warwick debut 4 weeks ago. Placed in a point bumper last spring but last month's rules debut was disappointing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dellahay |
(3) 12/1(+14%) | (3) Dellahay 12/1, Modest form both starts and likely vulnerable again. Travelled well before dropping out rather tamely in her first two races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Vera Hobbs |
(12) 14/1(-40%) | (12) Vera Hobbs 14/1, Twice-raced maiden. 50/1, sixth of 12 in bumper at Huntingdon (15.8f, soft) 30 days ago. Well beaten on debut but last month's Huntingdon sixth was much better; e-w claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Everlasting Pearl |
(5) 20/1(-43%) | (5) Everlasting Pearl 20/1, Scorpion mare. Half-sister to bumper winner/fair hurdler Ceara Be. Dam 2m/2¼m hurdle winner (stayed 2½m), also 1½m-1¾m winner on Flat. The stable has a 7-68 bumper record in the last 5 seasons. Has the right type of pedigree for bumpers and her stable does fairly well in these races. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jammy Jay |
(7) 66/1(+34%) | (7) Jammy Jay 66/1, 40/1, seventh of 8 on C&D debut (good to soft) 24 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere. Well beaten when 40-1 for debut here (good to soft) last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Issadora |
(6) 125/1(-25%) | (6) Issadora 125/1, Linda's Lad mare. Dam, ran twice over hurdles, winner around 2m on Flat. Likely outsider on debut. Second foal from a fair Flat stayer; stable not known for bumper success. |
GAELIC SAINT displayed plenty of promise when filling third place on her debut at Wincanton in January and Tom Symonds' filly could be hard to beat with the benefit of that experience. Broadway Honey is a half-sister to Broadway Boy and has to be noted on her racecourse bow, while Dream County and Uptown Lass are others who merit places on the shortlist.
GAELIC SAINT is given a chance to build on her promising first effort at Wincanton. Nicky Henderson's Uptown Lass found a listed bumper too much on debut but could easily fare a lot better with her sights lowered, particularly if the betting speaks in her favour. Broadway Honey is an interesting newcomer.
Uptown Lass might leave her poor debut well behind but Wincanton third GAELIC SAINT is suggested as a safer option.

(3) 5/2(+29%) | (3) Big Interest 5/2, Promising individual. 3/1, fourth of 9 in hunter chase at Naas (24.8f, soft) 28 days ago, unsuited by emphasis on stamina. May well do better. Naas fourth was disappointing following a fine Down Royal win, capable of getting involved. |

Has rejoined yard after leaving Stephen Gerard Carey. Won this last year and third in Aintree Foxhunters, questions to answer after Naas return. |

![]() Lonesome Boatman |
(9) 17/2(+15%) | (9) Lonesome Boatman 17/2, Fairly useful chaser. 12/1, seventh of 9 in hunter chase at Naas (24.8f, soft) 28 days ago. Point winner last time and he's one to consider. Excellent form last season, won a recent point, could feature with a return to peak form. |

![]() My Best Valentine |
(13) 12/1(-20%) | (13) My Best Valentine 12/1, Malinas mare. Dam bumper winner (stayed 19f). Winner of 5 of his 10 starts between the flags and it'll be interesting to see how she shapes up in the betting ahead of this Rules debut. 5-10 in points, twice successful since below-par in Ballindenisk event won by Boss Robin. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Boss Robin |
(5) 12/1(+14%) | (5) Boss Robin 12/1, Fairly useful chaser. Latest win in chase at Fairyhouse in March. 33/1, pulled up in hunter chase at Punchestown (24.7f, soft), left behind from 5 out. Point winner since. Progressive in hunter chases last term, good form in points before an early unseat latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dorking Cock |
(6) 14/1(+13%) | (6) Dorking Cock 14/1, Fairly useful chaser. 7/1, pulled up in hunter chase at Down Royal (24f, good to soft) 72 days ago won by Big Interest, pulled up before 2 out. Placed twice in points recently, beaten around 3l in third behind Early Doors at Oldtown. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ramillies |
(10) 16/1(-100%) | (10) Ramillies 16/1, Useful hurdler. Creditable second of 6 in hunter chase (4/1) at Thurles (25.1f, good) 48 days ago, flattered by proximity. Does well in points, fair hunter chase form including fourth to Big Interest at Down Royal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tornado Flyer |
(12) 18/1(-50%) | (12) Tornado Flyer 18/1, Fairly useful hurdler. Neck second of 4 to Blue Lord in Clonmel Oil Chase at Clonmel (20.4f, heavy, 9/2). Off over 2 years and upped in trip here on debut for new yard. 2021 King George hero; Oldtown fourth was encouraging but well held by Early Doors. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bigbraveboy |
(4) 40/1(+39%) | (4) Bigbraveboy 40/1, Twice-raced maiden. 28/1, first run since leaving Daniel G. Murphy when seventh of 16 in hunter chase at Limerick (22.6f, soft) 69 days ago. One win from nine starts in points, faces an unenviable task in this company. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Balkito |
(2) 50/1(+50%) | (2) Balkito 50/1, Fair chaser. Fifth of 9 in hunter chase at Naas (24.8f, soft, 250/1) 28 days ago. Out of form in a busy spell during the autumn points campaign, tough task in this grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Step Up Son |
(11) 100/1(+0%) | (11) Step Up Son 100/1, Once-raced maiden. Pulled up in hunter chase at Limerick (22.6f, soft, 300/1) on NH debut 69 days ago, pulled up before 2 out. 2-12 in points, chased home Boss Robin on latest, pulled up on only hunter chase outing. |
EARLY DOORS took the notable scalp of a prolific winner when successful in an Oldtown point-to-point and looks the one to beat. He was runner-up on the 'track' at Listowel last June and was well clear of the remainder. Big Interest is up-and-coming in this discipline and there was plenty to like about how he posted an easy success at Down Royal over Christmas. He found life tougher when fourth in Naas, but another big run looks on the cards. My Best Valentine has been enjoying herself in point-to-points to earn a shot at this company, while Dorking Cock shouldn't be ruled out.
Granted decent ground BIG INTEREST could take some stopping here. He was a clear-cut winner on Rules debut in a Down Royal bumper on Boxing Day and the slow surface appeared to count against him at Naas next time. Recent point winner Lonesome Boatman will be a threat if he puts his best foot forward, while Hollow Games is third choice. Early Doors and multiple point winner My Best Valentine are also shortlisted.
The 2020 Galway Plate EARLY DOORS should be in peak form for this after beating Winged Leader at Oldtown last month

(7) 12/1(+0%) | (7) Twilight Romance 12/1, Hooded first time, sixth of 9 in handicap (18/1) at Southwell (6f) on reappearance 15 days ago. Should strip fitter now. Yet to win a handicap but looks well treated and can step up on last month's return. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Brooklyn Nine Nine |
(6) 16/1(-100%) | (6) Brooklyn Nine Nine 16/1, Latest win at Southwell in December. Sixth of 7 in handicap (9/2) at Southwell (5f) 22 days ago. Back up in trip. Got up late to win a 5f handicap at Southwell in December; big run expected back at 6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Grant Wood |
(5) 20/1(-67%) | (5) Grant Wood 20/1, Four wins from 12 runs last year. Off since midfield in the Silver Cup at Ayr (6f, good to firm) in September. Chance he'll need this. Productive 2024, winning four handicaps; could progress further but back from a break here. |
SILKY WILKIE returned from an unsuccessful spell in Dubai with a promising second in a higher grade at Lingfield recently. Off the same mark, Karl Burke's gelding has to be of interest here. Cargin Bhui was narrowly denied at Southwell last time and may benefit from the first-time application of blinkers, while Habooba should not be underestimated on her seasonal debut.
CARGIN BHUI is well drawn and gets the nod to build on a promising return to action at Southwell last week with blinkers enlisted now. Silky Wilkie bounced back to form when second at Lingfield recently and is feared most ahead of the reappearing Knebworth, who started 2024 with a second place in this race.
Twilight Romance is feared with his comeback behind him but BROOKLYN NINE NINE could benefit from the return to 6f.

Has had wind surgery. Represents a yard with a strong record in bumpers at this course. 60,000euros 3yo; respected newcomer for trainer who has healthy strike-rate in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Geordie Mackem |
(3) 7/2(-5%) | (3) Geordie Mackem 7/2, Fair form when placed in bumpers at Wetherby and Newcastle this winter. Another prominent showing is likely. Placed in both bumpers and sets the standard on rules form; solid claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Hatchet |
(6) 9/2(-35%) | (6) The Hatchet 9/2, £105,000 after finishing runner-up on his only outing in Irish points (Dec 2024). The yard won this with an Irish point recruit last year so a market move would be very interesting. Runner-up in a point in December then sold for £105,000; good yard for rules career. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Daly Boy |
(2) 10/1(-100%) | (2) Daly Boy 10/1, £60,000 purchase after finishing runner-up in an Irish point in December. Interesting runner. Changed hands for £60,000 after point win and new stable does well in bumpers. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Je Mr Dawson |
(4) 10/1(-11%) | (4) Je Mr Dawson 10/1, €70,000 Gris De Gris gelding. Half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser in France Irish Chanel. The stable saddled a first-time-out bumper winner here recently so a market move for this one would be interesting. 70,000euros 3yo; trainer saddled a winning bumper newcomer here recently; interesting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Redeeming Love |
(11) 12/1(+14%) | (11) Redeeming Love 12/1, £78,000 purchase after finishing third in an Irish point last May. Another runner in this line-up who needs checking out ion the betting. Third in a point and her dam did very well for this yard; could be in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sanilam |
(5) 22/1(-144%) | (5) Sanilam 22/1, Malinas half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser Haute Estime, stays 3¾m, and fair 19f hurdle winner An Taibhse. The betting should guide to expectations with this Irish raider. Half-brother to two winners; this Irish raider is one to watch in the betting on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Miss Mac |
(10) 28/1(-40%) | (10) Miss Mac 28/1, 16/1, seventh of 12 in C&D bumper (soft) on debut 46 days ago. Improvement needed on second start but that's possible; might not be far away. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Walk On Son |
(8) 40/1(-60%) | (8) Walk On Son 40/1, 10/1, eighth of 9 in bumper at Hexham in October. Tongue tie added on return (has had wind surgery). The Hatchet looks the yard's first string unless the betting suggests otherwise. Very early days and things may click at some stage, but he was tailed off on his debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() L'insurge |
(12) 40/1(-21%) | (12) L'insurge 40/1, Tunis gelding. Half-brother to fair French chaser Idylle Fleurie. Probably best watched on debut. There's some potential in his pedigree but he may be one for further down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Low Ball |
(7) 100/1(-100%) | (7) The Low Ball 100/1, Diamond Boy gelding. Dam unraced sister to very smart hurdler/fairly useful chase winner (17f-2¾m winner) Oscar Dan Dan. Third in an Irish point last May. Hooded for Rules debut. Third in a point on debut but soundly beaten; sold for £13,000; may be best watched. |
There are some interesting newcomers to monitor in the betting, with the likes of Je Mr Dawson, Wanderinginthedark and point-to-point second The Hatchet all noted as potentially decent prospects. However, the experience held by GEORDIE MACKEM could prove vital and the Brian Ellison-trained five-year-old tops the shortlist after two promising placed efforts at Wetherby and Newcastle. Daly Boy was second on his only point-to-point start and could be the biggest danger.
Lucinda Russell won this with a point recruit last year so THE HATCHET is the suggestion before any market clues are known. Wanderinginthedark and Daly Boy are other interesting Rules newcomers, while Geordie Mackem should figure on the back of 2 placed efforts this winter.
Nicky Richards does very well in bumpers here and 60,000euros newcomer WANDERINGINTHEDARK is the selection.

(3) 5/2(+38%) | (3) Curtiz 5/2, C&D winner. 13/2, respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW), nearest finish. Off 107 days. Not taken lightly. C&D winner early last year; returns from another break but has proved he can go well fresh. |

(6) 4/1(-20%) | (6) Major Major 4/1, 11/2, won 12-runner handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 45 days ago, just holding on. Needs considering. Returned to winning ways at Lingfield last time; still well treated on old form; respected. |

![]() Bluebottle Blue |
(2) 80/1(-300%) | (2) Bluebottle Blue 80/1, 40/1, first run since leaving William Haggas when last of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 89 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Twice placed in five starts for William Haggas but last of six on stable debut; opposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Senseofentitlement |
(8) 150/1(-127%) | (8) Senseofentitlement 150/1, 80/1, last of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f). Off 112 days. 4lb lower than for sole win in July 2023, but lightly raced since and has shown nothing. |
HARRY THE HAGGLER made all to score over 1m4f at Southwell last month and another bold bid from the front looks likely, especially with the five-year-old able to utilise his stamina over a shorter trip. Fellow last-time-out winner Major Major looks the main danger to the selection upped 3lb for that recent victory over this distance at Lingfield. Persian Phoenix is respected most out of the remainder.
HARRY THE HAGGLER ended his long losing run in uncomplicated fashion when making all at Southwell and a 2 lb rise doesn't look insurmountable. Fellow last-time-out winner Major Major is next best ahead of Curtiz.
It may be worth siding with MAJOR MAJOR who bounced back to winning ways at Lingfield last time and remains well treated on old form.

![]() Jack The Lad |
(4) 13/2(-8%) | (4) Jack The Lad 13/2, £120,000 buy after running out an easy winner of sole start in British points (Dec 1). The market should guide. Impressive Hexham point-to-point winner bought for £120,000; intriguing runner. |

![]() Powerful Paddy |
(9) 9/1(+55%) | (9) Powerful Paddy 9/1, Once-raced maiden. Third of 9 in bumper (40/1) at Fairyhouse (16f, good to soft) on NH debut 56 days ago. Stable's first ever bumper runner outran 40-1 odds when beaten 2.5l in third at Fairyhouse. |

![]() The Burrow |
(11) 16/1(+52%) | (11) The Burrow 16/1, Off mark in points at third attempt (Jan 19). Bumper debut. Stable 1-55 in bumpers last five seasons; won 3rd point start at Ballycrystal impressively. |

![]() Casterly Rock |
(2) 18/1(+10%) | (2) Casterly Rock 18/1, Twice-raced maiden. Fourth of 10 in bumper at Punchestown (16f, soft, 10/1) 16 days ago. Fourth behind leading Champion Bumper contender Gameofinches at Punchestown; chance. |

![]() Morissette |
(12) 18/1(+10%) | (12) Morissette 18/1, Shantou mare. Dam 15f-2¼m hurdle winner in France. Probably best watched on debut. Dam French Listed-placed 2m-2m2f hurdle winner; yard that can produce bumper winners. |

![]() King Song |
(6) 100/1(-25%) | (6) King Song 100/1, Pulled up both starts in points (latest Feb 2). Can only watch on Rules debut. 20,000euros 3yo was pulled up in both point-to-point outings; stick a line through him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rilo Tang |
(10) 100/1(-25%) | (10) Rilo Tang 100/1, Shirocco gelding. Dam, little promise in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/useful chaser (stays 25f) Western Run. Unsold as a 3yo; dam showed little in bumpers and a maiden hurdle; best watched. |
An interesting bumper and KSAR FATAL looks dangerous on his racecourse debut for Willie Mullins. Donnchadh Doyle trained him to win a point-to-point at Curraghmore in October and the runner-up has since proved good enough to land a maiden hurdle at Punchestown. King's Bucks is another point-to-point winner who is starting out on his racecourse career with Henry de Bromhead. He is an obvious threat. Chasing Blues made plenty of money at the Derby Sale a couple of years ago. He is related to several multiple winners and is an intriguing runner for Gavin Cromwell. Powerful Paddy kept on for third in a Fairyhouse bumper and that experience will stand to him.
KSAR FATAL and King's Bucks have both joined top stables after point wins and might be the pair to focus on, with preference for the former before any market clues are known. Chasing Blues, one of 2 newcomers from the Gavin Cromwell stable, completes the shortlist.
A race typically won by a classy type who goes onto better things, Willie Mullins can continue his bumper dominance with KSAR FATAL

![]() Ancient State |
(6) 13/8(+80%) | (6) Ancient State 13/8, Lightly-raced maiden. Below form fifth of 10 in handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 17/2) 23 days ago. Down in trip and tongue strap on 1st time. Not without each-way hope. Looked a tricky ride when 5th on last month's h'cap debut (7f); now tried in a tongue-tie. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bank On Kent |
(2) 15/8(+25%) | (2) Bank On Kent 15/8, Career best when winning 10-runner handicap (7/1) at Southwell (6.1f) 8 days ago, battling well. 2 lb nudge fair enough and he's the one to beat. Game win in a 6f handicap at Southwell eight days ago; big player despite a 2lb rise. |

![]() Kameko Spirit |
(7) 9/2(-35%) | (7) Kameko Spirit 9/2, Very good second of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f, 5/1) 37 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time and he has to enter calculations. Placed in 5f Polytrack handicaps the last twice; now tongue tied; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hardlass |
(1) 8/1(-23%) | (1) Hardlass 8/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1, fourth of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (5f) 46 days ago, left poorly placed. Likely to find one or two too good. Better than the bare result on h'cap debut latest and that race was red hot for the grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Blue Force One |
(4) 16/1(+36%) | (4) Blue Force One 16/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 14/1, eighth of 9 in handicap at this course (6.1f) 18 days ago. Others make more appeal. No improvement for handicapping in two runs for his new yard; others safer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() La Mer Grise |
(9) 20/1(+20%) | (9) La Mer Grise 20/1, Sixth of 7 in handicap (14/1) at Chelmsford City (7f) 23 days ago. Back down in trip and she looks set for another struggle. Unplaced all seven starts but has hinted at ability; others preferred for the win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hala Joza |
(5) 33/1(-50%) | (5) Hala Joza 33/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 9 in maiden at Newcastle (6f, 50/1) on final run for David Loughnane when last seen in October. Needs to raise her game on handicap/yard debut. Modest form in three 6f runs for D Loughnane; drawn wide on stable debut; no headgear now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Miss Campanella |
(10) 125/1(-25%) | (10) Miss Campanella 125/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Last of 8 in handicap (150/1) at this course (6.1f) 18 days ago. Hard to fancy. No improvement for the switch to handicaps here (6f) last month; yet to beat a rival. |
KAMEKO SPIRIT contested a fierce battle all the way to the line when beaten a neck into second at Chelmsford in January and is only 2lb higher for that effort. She sports a first-time tongue-tie and looks well placed to record her first career success. Bank On Kent was all out to shed his maiden tag over 6f at Southwell on his most recent start and can go well, while Royal Accord completes the shortlist.
The vote goes to BANK ON KENT, who knuckled down well when belatedly opening his account at Southwell recently and this 2 lb higher mark should be comfortably within reach. Kameko Spirit has been knocking on the door and is second choice ahead of Ancient State.
Bank On Kent and Kameko Spirit are solid but HARDLASS can build on her promising handicap debut.

(3) 1/6(+71%) | (3) Pantile Warrior 1/6, Frankel colt. Runner-up last 3 starts, including maiden at Goodwood (8f, good). Off 6 months. Up in trip. Makes polytrack debut. Sets a solid standard. Runner-up in his last three starts on turf last year; should take all the beating. |

![]() Soy Loco |
(4) 10/1(-18%) | (4) Soy Loco 10/1, Twice-raced colt. Much better effort when third of 12 in maiden at Kempton (8f, 125/1) 24 days ago. Up in trip. Respected. Improved from his debut when third at Kempton last month; each-way claims. |

![]() Reasoning |
(8) 14/1(-17%) | (8) Reasoning 14/1, $95,000 foal, €55,000 yearling, Justify filly. Dam Italian 1m-1¼m winner, third in Oaks d'Italia. Something to like on pedigree but this looks a tough starting point. |

![]() Andersen |
(1) 16/1(-100%) | (1) Andersen 16/1, €26,000 yearling, Kameko gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including 6f winner Tourist and 5f winner Exquisitely. Dam, winner up to 7f (2-y-o 5f winner), half-sister to smart 5f winner My Laureate. Wears hood. Sports a hood on debut; probably best watched unless market suggests otherwise. |

![]() Too Darn Seanie |
(6) 18/1(-50%) | (6) Too Darn Seanie 18/1, 88,000 gns yearling, Too Darn Hot gelding. Half-brother to 2-y-o 7f winner City of Kings. Dam winner up to 1½m (Lancashire Oaks, and 2-y-o 8.3f winner) who stayed 15f, also fourth in Oaks. Nice pedigree, but winning newcomers from the stable are rare. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Staffordshire |
(5) 80/1(-344%) | (5) Staffordshire 80/1, Twice-raced gelding. 10/1, last of 5 in novice at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 33 days ago. Hooded for 1st time. Some promise on debut but didn't look straightforward when last next time; plenty to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Miss Calvados |
(7) 80/1(-344%) | (7) Miss Calvados 80/1, Modest filly. 16/1, last of 5 in novice at Haydock (8.2f, heavy) on UK debut. Off 161 days. Up in trip. Well beaten in two starts on turf last year; stiff task on her return. |
In what should prove to be an informative affair, PANTILE WARRIOR gets the nod. The gelded son of Frankel was last seen finishing an admirable second behind a subsequent winner over a mile at Goodwood when last seen and, stepping up in trip, he gets the nod to gain a breakthrough victory. Reasoning has an eye-catching profile on paper and it would be no surprise if this daughter of Justify was able to make her presence felt first time up. Andersen completes the shortlist.
PANTILE WARRIOR sets a high standard on last season's form so should take the beating. Soy Loco left his debut run well behind when third at Kempton and is next best ahead of newcomers Too Darn Seanie, Reasoning and Andersen.
With the form of his three second-place finishes last year having worked out so well, PANTILE WARRIOR should take all the beating.

(3) 7/2(-5%) | (3) Arcadian Nights 7/2, Three-time C&D winner. 10/3, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 20 days ago, well positioned. 2 lb nudge fair enough and he has to be respected in his hat-trick bid. Has a fine strike-rate (11-45); narrow winner at Lingfield last time; in the mix again. |

![]() Son Of Man |
(5) 9/2(+72%) | (5) Son Of Man 9/2, 17/2, creditable sixth of 12 in handicap at this C&D. Off 112 days and he looks vulnerable. Unplaced all four starts for this stable; falling in weights but more to prove than some. |

![]() Eagle Day |

(9) 16/1(-113%) | (9) Etretat 16/1, Course winner. Latest win at Lingfield in January. Last of 8 in handicap (7/2) at Lingfield (10f, AW) 29 days ago. Will be a threat if able to shrug off that below par Lingfield display. Ran as if amiss at Lingfield in February but no surprise if he bounces back. |

![]() Party Island |
(8) 25/1(+0%) | (8) Party Island 25/1, 66/1, last of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 20 days ago. Entitled to come on for that run, which was his first following a 5-month break, and this step back up in trip can help. 1m was probably an inadequate trip last time; 7-21 on AW; not discounted. |

(10) 125/1(-594%) | (10) Laser Focus 125/1, Three wins from 12 runs last year. Latest win at Brighton in September. Last of 7 in handicap at Kempton (8f, 22/1) 10 days ago, slowly away. Others preferred. Last of seven back on Flat at Kempton ten days ago; much more required off same mark. |
ARCADIAN NIGHTS successfully completed a double in this grade at Lingfield last month and the assessor might have been kind to only put him up 2lb. The seven-year-old has five previous course successes to further aid his cause and can continue his brilliant form. If Eagle Day can reproduce his second over track and trip on his penultimate start, then he could get into contention, while Etretat looks best of the rest.
If on-song following a break ARTHUR'S REALM will have every chance. Ed Dunlop's charge has dipped back to the mark off which he registered his latest success at Beverley last spring and he shades preference ahead of Al Waqidi and Civil Law.
Arcadian Nights and Al Waqidi are respected but five-time course winner CIVIL LAW gets the vote.

![]() Just Like Magic |
(2) 3/1(-50%) | (2) Just Like Magic 3/1, Aclaim colt who surpassed his exploits in maiden/novice company when winning 4-runner handicap at Lingfield (5f) 5 weeks ago, quickening to lead final 100 yds and well on top finish. Appeals as the type to do better still and shortlisted up 3 lb. Going right way and made handicap debut a winning one at Lingfield; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Alashos |
(4) 10/3(+58%) | (4) Alashos 10/3, 9/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable sixth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 7 days ago, weakening final 1f. This return to the minimum trip worth exploring on evidence of that run. Has faded over 6f last two starts; has possibilities now returned to the minimum trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Desert Champion |
(1) 7/2(+0%) | (1) Desert Champion 7/2, Lope De Vega colt who matched his previous best when close-up third of 6 in novice at Wolverhampton (5.1f) 26 days ago, keeping on despite carrying head bit awkwardly/edging right. Switch to handicaps in his favour and he's of interest with a first-time visor reached for. Good third last time; interesting contender on handicap debut in first-time visor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Oakley Boy |
(3) 4/1(+43%) | (3) Oakley Boy 4/1, Took her form up a notch with a visor fitted, adding another success to her tally at Newcastle (5f) in January. Creditable efforts in defeat both starts since, 3 lengths third of 4 to Just Like Magic in handicap at Lingfield on latest outing. Rider takes off handy 3 lb. Beaten by Just Like Magic at Lingfield but that was a messy race and he's now better off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fallen Soldier |
(7) 15/2(+25%) | (7) Fallen Soldier 15/2, Still a maiden but went close to bucking that trend when just touched off at Newcastle (5f) in January. Not disgraced subsequently, fourth of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 5/1) 19 days ago. Had a few chances already, though. 0-12; no obvious excuses when fourth over this trip at Wolverhampton three weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Commendation |
(5) 11/1(-120%) | (5) Commendation 11/1, Step forward when fourth on handicap debut at Kempton (6f) in January and further progress on first start for new yard/in cheekpieces when 9-runner handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 20 days ago. Unexposed at 5f and that ought not to prove her limit. Improved for trainer change, cheekpieces and drop to 5f when winning at Lingfield; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Over Spiced |
(6) 28/1(-56%) | (6) Over Spiced 28/1, Fair filly who made it second time lucky in a Leicester maiden (5f) for Tom Clover last spring. No significant impact in trio of AW starts for new yard, 2½ lengths seventh of 9 to Commendation in handicap at Lingfield (5f, AW) 20 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. 5f turf winner last spring; hasn't reached the same level on the AW. |
DESERT CHAMPION lost little in defeat when finishing a close-up third at Wolverhampton last month and, sporting a visor for the first time on handicap debut, he gets the vote to go two places better this time around. Just Like Magic showed a likeable attitude when getting off the mark at the first time of asking in handicap company recently and he looks the main danger off 3lb higher. Commendation can also go well.
JUST LIKE MAGIC was much improved when making a winning handicap debut at Lingfield 5 weeks ago, leaving the impression there's more to come in the process. He can defy a 3 lb rise in the weights and follow up. Desert Champion, who is fitted with a visor for his respective handicap debut,and another last-time-out winner, Commendation, head the dangers.
Just Like Magic and Oakley Boy are closely matched but top of the list is the well-bred DESERT CHAMPION on handicap debut.

![]() Silky Robin |
(2) 3/1(+14%) | (2) Silky Robin 3/1, Creditable second of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f) on penultimate run, a race that has produced subsequent winners. Backed up that effort when runner-up at Wolverhampton (6f) last month. One for the shortlist. 0-14 but runner-up the last twice including over C&D; may prove the answer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Papa Don't Preach |
(3) 6/1(-9%) | (3) Papa Don't Preach 6/1, Course winner has often been slowly away and keen in his races but did settle better when creditable third of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 11 days ago. Plenty of pace on and he's on a handy mark if he can race more efficiently. All three wins over 5f but a close third over 6f at Wolverhampton 11 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Due Date |
(6) 6/1(-71%) | (6) Due Date 6/1, C&D winner. Four wins from 16 runs last year. Latest win here in January. Creditable second of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 3/1) 19 days ago, having faced competition for the lead. Should go well again. Dual C&D winner and runner-up off this mark at Wolverhampton last time; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Poetic Jack |
(5) 8/1(-14%) | (5) Poetic Jack 8/1, Course winner can be dangerous when getting his own way in front but he wasn't able to do that when seventh of 9 in handicap (5/1) at this C&D 9 days ago. Fairly handicapped and merits consideration. A bit in and out since his last win and was behind Lion Ring over C&D nine days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lion Ring |
(4) 17/2(+29%) | (4) Lion Ring 17/2, 4-time course winner. Four wins from 19 runs last year. Creditable fifth of 9 in handicap (33/1) at this C&D 9 days ago, having raced closer to the pace than ideal. May have a bit to find with the best of these. 4-13 here and 4lb below his last winning mark; a resurgence wouldn't be a total surprise. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lion's Dream |
(10) 10/1(+17%) | (10) Lion's Dream 10/1, Course winner. One win from 22 Flat runs. 15/2, respectable fourth of 8 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 7 days ago, settling better. Claims but may face competition for the lead. 0-21 since his successful debut; has plenty to prove under these conditions. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lilkian |
(9) 11/1(+8%) | (9) Lilkian 11/1, C&D winner. Below form fifth of 11 in minor event (17/2) at this C&D 14 days ago. Fairly handicapped but on a long losing run. 12 wins on the AW, including three here, but losing run is up to 21. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Nubough |
(1) 12/1(+25%) | (1) Nubough 12/1, Hit and miss C&D winner. Not disgraced after 6-weeks off when sixth of 8 in handicap at this course (7f, 16/1) 37 days ago. Remains to be seen if he can back that up. C&D winner and back off last winning mark, but inconsistent and a record of 3-63 a worry. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bear To Dream |
(7) 25/1(-108%) | (7) Bear To Dream 25/1, C&D winner. Respectable third of 9 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, AW, 12/1) 43 days ago and each-way chance if he can build on that. C&D winner; 1lb above last winning mark; third on return from three months off in January. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Doves Of Peace |
(8) 66/1(-164%) | (8) Doves Of Peace 66/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Wolverhampton in October. Fared no better on first run since leaving Michael Bell when last of 8 in handicap at this course (7f, 50/1) 37 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time but others preferred. C&D winner back off his last winning mark, but looks regressive; blinkers on. |
Having filled the runner-up spot here and at Wolverhampton in recent months, compensation could be on the cards for SILKY ROBIN. Brian Toomey's gelding makes plenty of appeal running off the same mark and he looks ready to open his account. The biggest threat may emerge from Papa Don't Preach, who arrives on the back of a close-up third over C&D, while fellow in-form rival Due Date is also likely to be involved.
With a strong pace forecast, this may be run to suit the free-going PAPA DON'T PREACH who last time settled better than he has done previously and is on a fair handicap mark if putting it all together. Poetic Jack and Silky Robin both tend to race prominently but have some strong form around this track and merit plenty of respect.
Despite being a 14-race maiden the vote goes to SILKY ROBIN (nap). He has run well in both starts over C&D and looks ready to strike.

Latest win at Wolverhampton in December and again ran well when third of 9 in handicap (6/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 7 days ago, faring best of those held up. Blinkers on 1st time. Enters calculations. ![]() Conquest Of Power |
(3) 9/2(+44%) | (3) Conquest Of Power 9/2, C&D winner. Latest win at Newcastle in February. Arrived in search of a hat-trick but found good run coming to a halt when sixth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (8f) last week. Disappointed in hat-trick bid last time but is a dual C&D winner; considered. |

![]() Windsor Pass |
(2) 11/2(-38%) | (2) Windsor Pass 11/2, C&D winner. One win from 31 Flat runs. Winner here in January. 6/1, respectable third of 9 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 15 days ago, nearest finish. Can go well again. C&D winner in January but just 1-31; should go well again but others preferred for the win. |

![]() Time Patrol |
(5) 15/2(+25%) | (5) Time Patrol 15/2, Latest win at Newcastle in February but never figured under a penalty when sixth of 9 in handicap at Newcastle (6f, 10/3) 32 days ago. Won first two starts with cheekpieces added, but held last time; handicapper may have him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ravensbourne |
(8) 17/2(-6%) | (8) Ravensbourne 17/2, C&D winner in January. 11/2, respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f) 7 days ago. Won at the 16th attempt when making all over C&D in January but twice held on Tapeta since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mashaan |
(10) 10/1(-67%) | (10) Mashaan 10/1, C&D winner who wasted no time getting back to form when second of 8 to Windsor Pass in handicap (10/3) at this C&D 37 days ago. A repeat should see him remain competitive. C&D winner; off the same mark as when chasing home Windsor Pass last time; should go well. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Shamardia |
(4) 18/1(-50%) | (4) Shamardia 18/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fourth of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 15/2) 11 days ago. Has dropped 1lb below her last winning mark, but stamina for this far remains unproven. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Colorada Dancer |
(7) 18/1(-50%) | (7) Colorada Dancer 18/1, Stepped up on recent yard debut when third of 9 in handicap at Kempton (7f) 24 days ago. Hasn't built on his York win as a 2yo; ran with credit last time but has to step up again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mond |
(6) 28/1(-75%) | (6) Mond 28/1, Seventh of 9 in handicap (17/2) at Kempton (6f) 17 days ago. Continues to merely tick over at present. Out of the frame in six starts for this yard; down another 2lb but best watched for now. |
Stella Hogan supplemented her victory at Kempton in mid-January with creditable efforts in defeat at that same venue and most recently at Southwell. Mick Appleby's mare is likely to post another bold bid off just 1lb higher, but WINDSOR PASS is slightly more compelling. The seven-year-old accounted for reopposing second Mashaan on her penultimate start over C&D and she is taken to confirm her superiority over the Kodiac gelding once more.
STELLA HOGAN didn't entirely convince with her head carriage under pressure at Southwell on her most recent start, but is holding her form well nonetheless and is taken to notch a second win for current connections. Match Anthem and Windsor Pass are a couple of potential threats in a competitive affair.
The vote goes to STELLA HOGAN who has been running well lately and who may find a bit more with an eyeshield fitted.

(7) 12/1(-9%) | (7) Mr Fustic 12/1, Latest win at Lingfield in February and ran to a similar level when third of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 18 days ago. All five wins at around 1m on the AW; best form would bring him right into it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Taskheer |
(11) 12/1(+0%) | (11) Taskheer 12/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Lingfield in February. Creditable second of 12 in minor event at Southwell (8.1f, 2/1) 15 days ago. Needs considering. Has rediscovered some form in 0-50 company the last twice; well treated on old form. |

![]() Miss Sunset Strip |
(5) 16/1(+11%) | (5) Miss Sunset Strip 16/1, Course winner who ran respectably in first-time blinkers when fourth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (7.1f, 28/1) 24 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Record here reads 2212; interesting down another 2lb in the returning cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Waleyfa |
(6) 16/1(-100%) | (6) Waleyfa 16/1, C&D winner. Latest win at Brighton in September. Respectable third of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 10/11). Off 166 days but is very capable fresh. C&D winner; not seen in 166 days but she has won fresh; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Outrace |
(4) 18/1(-13%) | (4) Outrace 18/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in November but again ran below form when last of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 42 days ago. Could go well if ridden positively with little established pace lined up against him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() River Alwen |
(10) 22/1(-100%) | (10) River Alwen 22/1, Won 13-runner handicap at this course (10f) in November. Off since. Won over 1m2f here in November, but the return to 1m doesn't look a positive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tasmanian Legend |
(8) 25/1(-127%) | (8) Tasmanian Legend 25/1, Three wins from 14 runs last year. 7/1, respectable fifth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 28 days ago. Hood back on. Can make presence felt. Losing run up to 13 despite a slipping mark and has the outside stall to overcome. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Love Your Work |
(3) 25/1(-25%) | (3) Love Your Work 25/1, Three wins from 19 runs last year, latest at Wolverhampton in November. However, is struggling for form at present, finishing only eighth of 10 to Kitaro Kich in handicap at this course (7f) 9 days ago. Back off his last winning mark but is 0-11 on Polytrack. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Beautiful Dawn |
(12) 50/1(-127%) | (12) Beautiful Dawn 50/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2024. Creditable third of 7 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 25/1) 11 days ago. 0-12 on Tapeta for this yard but won twice on Polytrack in Ireland; could make the frame. |
Kitaro Kich has won three of his four starts so far this year and another good effort looks likely on the back of a convincing success at Lingfield earlier in the week. Mr Fustic has also scored at Lingfield recently and is another of interest, but ANGELICA K makes most appeal. The five-year-old appreciated the return to today's shorter distance when beating a subsequent winner at Kempton and there looks more to come from her on the strength of that form.
Stall 11 isn't ideal, but KITARO KICH is in the form of his life at present and is difficult to oppose under a 5 lb penalty having run out a most decisive winner at Lingfield earlier in the week. Waleyfa is still lightly raced for her current yard and goes well fresh, so must enter calculations, along with Angelica K, who remains unexposed at this trip.
It's hard to oppose KITARO KICH in his current mood. He looked to win with plenty in hand at Lingfield on Wednesday.

![]() Limelight |
(10) 28/1(-100%) | (10) Limelight 28/1, 9/1, not disgraced when fifth of 9 in minor event at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 12 days ago. Blinkers on for 1st time. 0-18 under both codes and needs the blinkers to make a difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tilsworth Max |
(11) 80/1(-220%) | (11) Tilsworth Max 80/1, Sixth of 8 in minor event at Lingfield (8f, AW, 10/1) 20 days ago. 12-race maiden who holds moderate claims overall. |
VELVET VORTEX may prove a more potent force over this extra furlong after finishing an encouraging fourth over 7f here on his reappearance and debut for Mike Murphy. A bold bid is expected off his current mark and he gets the vote ahead of Boujee Gold. The latter had been in fine form before disappointing at Southwell, while Heerathetrack has a couple of recent placed efforts under his belt and could also feature.
The vote goes to the least exposed in the field VELVET VORTEX, who is capable of better still now stepping back up in trip. Boujee Gold can have a big say if shrugging off a lesser effort at Southwell, with Repartee and Heerathetrack two others to consider.
It may be worth siding with VELVET VORTEX who appears to be gradually improving and who should be suited by the return to this trip.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
