1st (4) (13/8 +28%) Tortured Soul |
13/8(+28%) | (4) Tortured Soul 13/8, 5/4, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at Kempton (12f) 8 days ago, soon clear. Carries penalty. Highly progressive for this yard and fancied to go in again. Comfortable when recording his latest success last week; big player under his penalty. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (6) (8/1 +43%) Restorer |
8/1(+43%) | (6) Restorer 8/1, 11/1, creditable 3¼ lengths fourth of 8 to At Liberty in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f) 5 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Can get involved if the pace is sound. Placed in 8-18 AW starts; recent form suggests this veteran has each-way claims at best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (6/1 -9%) Awtaad Prince |
6/1(-9%) | (3) Awtaad Prince 6/1, 12/1 and hooded for 1st time, didn't need to improve to win 9-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) 21 days ago. Remains well treated and good shout if staying the longer trip. 1m2f Polytrack winner latest; has to prove he stays 1m4f; player if doing so. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (40/1 -186%) Asense |
40/1(-186%) | (11) Asense 40/1, Three wins from 7 runs last year. Latest win at Bath in October. Eighth of 11 in handicap at Windsor (11.4f, good to soft, 9/2). Off 143 days. Others make more appeal. Triple turf winner; freshened up but will need to improve on her AW form to win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (10) (12/1 -71%) Further Measure |
12/1(-71%) | (10) Further Measure 12/1, Creditable third of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f, 9/1) 12 days ago, needing stiffer test. One to consider back up to a more suitable distance. Third at Chelmsford (1m) latest; drops 1lb and not written off back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (1) (11/4 +0%) At Liberty |
11/4(+0%) | (1) At Liberty 11/4, Firmly back on track when winning 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 9/4) 5 days ago, well positioned. Remains well treated on old form and boasts strong claims. 1m4f Wolverhampton winner; well treated under a penalty; big player if as effective here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (80/1 -220%) Smith |
80/1(-220%) | (9) Smith 80/1, 6-time course winner. Last of 10 in handicap (12/1) at this course (15.8f, AW) 47 days ago, folding. Down in trip. Others more persuasive. Below par since the last of his wins and not sure the drop back in trip is ideal. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (14/1 +0%) Gearing's Point |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Gearing's Point 14/1, C&D winner. Four wins from 8 runs last year. Sixth of 7 in handicap hurdle (7/2) at Plumpton (15.9f, soft) 24 days ago. Fair on the Flat, respectable on last Flat run. Not completely dismissed back in this sphere. Returns from a couple of hurdles starts and needs to raise her game to defy this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (5) (100/1 -52%) Golden Keeper |
100/1(-52%) | (5) Golden Keeper 100/1, Eleventh of 12 in handicap (125/1) at this course (10f, AW) 17 days ago. Chance on old form. Well treated on some of his 2023 form but has a fairly hefty recent slump to reverse. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (8) (18/1 -125%) Pablo Prince |
18/1(-125%) | (8) Pablo Prince 18/1, 3-time C&D winner. 6/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, sixth of 8 in handicap at Kempton (12f) 22 days ago, running on. Not dismissed. Hasn't been at his best of late and probably needs to be back at that level to win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (33/1 -106%) Hamnet |
33/1(-106%) | (2) Hamnet 33/1, Eighth of 9 in handicap at Kempton (12f, 4/1) 43 days ago. Has a bit to prove but worthy of a market check. Well beaten in both starts for this trainer, including over 1m4f; drops 3lb; more needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
TORTURED SOUL continued his improvement on the all-weather with his best performance to date when scoring at Kempton last Wednesday. Tony Carroll's gelding arrives here 1lb well-in under a 5lb penalty and it would be no surprise to see him take another step forward. At Liberty won with some authority at Wolverhampton on Saturday and commands the utmost respect, while others to note include Restorer and Asense.
TORTURED SOUL is thriving and had plenty in hand at Kempton 8 days ago, so he gets the nod ahead of At Liberty, a similarly impressive winner last time. Awtaad Prince is another one to consider.
Last-time-out winners At Liberty and TORTURED SOUL are the most likely pair to fight it out and the latter gets the vote.

1st (1) (1/6 -21%) Largy Poet |
1/6(-21%) | (1) Largy Poet 1/6, Fetched £85,000 after finishing runner-up on sole point start last spring and bolted up on third run under Rules in an Exeter maiden hurdle (21.6f, heavy) in January. Impossible to oppose in this company. Made all to win by 12l at Exeter in January and has excellent chance to follow up here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (6/1 +8%) Simple Getaway |
6/1(+8%) | (3) Simple Getaway 6/1, Fetched £180,000 after winning an Irish point but proved very easy to back and looked as if in need of the run when down the field in an Aintree novice hurdle in October. Best watched for new yard. Impressed on Irish point debut in 2022 but well beaten on rules debut in October. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (16/1 -14%) Kingoftheswingerz |
16/1(-14%) | (2) Kingoftheswingerz 16/1, Modest in bumpers and showed aptitude for hurdling when third of 9 in a novice event at Wincanton. Not quite as good at Sandown last time and essentially has plenty to find with the favourite. Kept on for modest third over C&D on hurdle debut but needs Largy Poet to flop today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
This looks a straightforward opportunity for LARGY POET to complete a double over hurdles. Paul Nicholls' charge ran out a ready winner when making all at Exeter in January and a 7lb penalty is unlikely to burden him in this weaker affair. Kingoftheswingerz should appreciate a return to this C&D and looks best equipped to take the runner-up berth, with Simple Getaway having something to prove after a lacklustre Rules/hurdles debut at Aintree in October.
LARGY POET appeals as a useful prospect and sets a clear standard in this 3-runner event. Kingoftheswingerz will be of more interest when qualified for handicaps after this outing, whilst it's hard to know what to expect from Irish point winner Simple Getaway, who has switched yards since his underwhelming Rules debut.
This ought to be straightforward for LARGY POET, who sets a fairly useful form standard after his Exeter win and still has potential.

1st (8) (22/1 -10%) Seasett |
22/1(-10%) | (8) Seasett 22/1, Lightly-raced maiden over hurdles. Fairly useful winner at 8f on flat. Twelfth of 16 in handicap hurdle (50/1) at Fairyhouse (20.6f, heavy) 66 days ago. Others make more appeal. Fairly useful 1m Flat winner but yet to match that for his current yard in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (9/2 +40%) Masked Crusader |
9/2(+40%) | (2) Masked Crusader 9/2, Landed a pair of novice hurdles in 2022. Temperament has come under suspicion since, although he showed a bit more the last twice and he should benefit from this drop back in trip. Not ruled out. Failed to get home when sixth in 3m Musselburgh h'cap latest; back in trip today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (5) (3/1 +25%) Enemy At The Gate |
3/1(+25%) | (5) Enemy At The Gate 3/1, Maiden who ran as well as he ever has when runner-up at Ayr on his penultimate start, then shaped better than the result (late error) at the same track last time. Down in trip with a tongue strap back on, he's one to be interested in. Remains winless but he's proving a reliable sort; shortlisted with tongue-strap back on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (28/1 +30%) Ashjan |
28/1(+30%) | (12) Ashjan 28/1, Won 3 times over fences in 2022 but recent efforts haven't been all that inspiring. A three-time chasing winner but not the most reliable nowadays; a stone out of the h'cap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (6/4 +33%) Yealand |
6/4(+33%) | (3) Yealand 6/4, Going the right way since switched to handicaps, scoring at Newcastle before a smooth-travelling second at the same course three weeks ago. More to come and worth a chance to get back to winning ways. On the up and an excellent second in Newcastle h'cap; up 3lb but holds leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (11) (28/1 -12%) So Ladylike |
28/1(-12%) | (11) So Ladylike 28/1, Little encouragement under Rules and up against it from out of the weights for all that she's joined a new stable. Is now 0-17 and she was well below par when last seen in early summer for Colin McBratney. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (8/1 -167%) St John's Road |
8/1(-167%) | (4) St John's Road 8/1, Finished runner-up in a bumper and has shaped with encouragement on both hurdling outings. Should relish this longer trip, so she looks a definite player on handicap debut. Has gone with promise when placed on all her three runs; player on h'cap debut up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (7) (66/1 -230%) Iron Heart |
66/1(-230%) | (7) Iron Heart 66/1, Fair hurdles winner but struggled for form on the Flat last year. Fared better when runner-up on his stable/chase debut at Worcester (20f) in September, but has gone backwards from that effort in 2 starts since. Returns to hurdling. 2m3f hurdles winner for David Pipe but form has nosedived in three chasing runs this term. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (22/1 -100%) Bullion Boss |
22/1(-100%) | (9) Bullion Boss 22/1, Modest handicap hurdler who was in form when last seen but that was almost two years ago. Hard to know how much ability he retains. Consistent sort but he returns from a 23-month absence here so others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (80/1 -220%) Milltown Lily |
80/1(-220%) | (10) Milltown Lily 80/1, Modest maiden handicapper on Flat and has shown little so far over hurdles. Remains without a win on the Flat and she hasn't offered much in three starts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (6) (12/1 -60%) Diamand De Vindecy |
12/1(-60%) | (6) Diamand De Vindecy 12/1, Fair performer on the level in France and over hurdles for current yard, back on track when third at Taunton last time and can't be fully dismissed. Best hurdles run when third at Taunton latest; a fair Flat winner in France so considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (50/1 -127%) Stony Man |
50/1(-127%) | (1) Stony Man 50/1, Sole success came in Bangor maiden (16.7f) in May 2022, and has failed to complete all 4 starts since, off 9 months prior to latest. Tried in cheekpieces. Has failed to complete on all four runs since landing 2m Bangor maiden hurdle in May 2022. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
YEALAND found only a rejuvenated rival too strong when thwarted in his bid to land a double at Newcastle. A 3lb rise for that performance looks more than workable and the five-year-old is fancied to regain the winning thread. Even though Seasett has yet to cut much ice in his hurdling career so far, Shark Hanlon's raider was a useful performer on the Flat and any market support for him would be interesting. Enemy At The Gate also makes some appeal now dropped in distance.
YEALAND is progressing and can get back to winning ways. St John's Road can improve herself now handicapping and looks a big player. Enemy At The Gate is another to be interested in for an in-form stable.
Jennie Candlish's improving Shirocco gelding YEALAND is taken to quickly resume winning ways after an excellent Newcastle 2nd last time

1st (11) (15/2 -88%) Princess In Rome |
15/2(-88%) | (11) Princess In Rome 15/2, Twice-raced filly. Fourth of 11 in maiden at Southwell (7.1f, 5/1) on return 21 days ago, unable to sustain effort. Remains with potential and can go well. Just behind Pentacle last time and should also benefit from the new trip; drawn widest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (5/2 +9%) Havana Force |
5/2(+9%) | (8) Havana Force 5/2, Twice-raced filly. Second of 7 in minor event (3/1) at Newcastle (7.1f) 26 days ago, well positioned. Sets the standard. Two placed efforts over 7f this year and she's bred to stay 1m; likely to be involved. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (8/1 -100%) Pentacle |
8/1(-100%) | (10) Pentacle 8/1, Promising sort. 80/1, second of 11 in maiden at Southwell (7.1f) 21 days ago. Likely to improve further and makes plenty of appeal. Stayed on well for 2nd at Southwell three weeks ago (7f); 1m should suit; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (12) (20/1 -67%) Golden Path |
20/1(-67%) | (12) Golden Path 20/1, €9,000 yearling, resold €25,000 yearling, Golden Horn filly. Half-sister to 1m winners The Shard and Tonka, both in France. Dam twice-raced half-sister to very smart winner Uncoiled. Half-sister to two winners in France out of a well-related mare; check betting; yard run 2. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (6/1 +50%) Lizzie Lovett |
6/1(+50%) | (9) Lizzie Lovett 6/1, €14,000 foal, €28,000 yearling, Kuroshio filly. Half-sister to 1m/8.6f winner Colonel Slade. Dam, U.S. 8.5f winner (including at 2 yrs), half-sister to smart 7f-8.3f winner The Rectifier. 28,000euros yearling; half-sister to a 1m AW winner; market to guide on debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (33/1 +0%) Sorontar |
33/1(+0%) | (6) Sorontar 33/1, Once-raced colt. Tongue strap on, ninth of 13 in maiden at Kempton (7f, 20/1) on debut 18 days ago. Only ninth at Kempton on debut but no surprise to see him leave that well behind in time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (3) (5/1 +50%) Poles Apart |
5/1(+50%) | (3) Poles Apart 5/1, 20,000 gns yearling, Awtaad gelding. Half-brother to smart 7f/1m winner Mystique Moon and 1½m-2m winner Cristal Spirit. Dam 1¼m winner who stayed 1½m. Bred to have a future and he's worth a market check in a weak race. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (50/1 -150%) Remonstrate |
50/1(-150%) | (4) Remonstrate 50/1, Twice-raced colt. Seventh of 9 in maiden (22/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 19 days ago. In need of the experience and ran to just a modest level in two maidens last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (7/2 +30%) Roger Henry |
7/2(+30%) | (1) Roger Henry 7/2, Once-raced gelding. Second of 9 in maiden at Southwell (8.1f, 12/1) on debut 12 days ago, no match for winner. Solid claims. Promising start at Southwell 12 days ago but hard to rate that form too highly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (28/1 -180%) By Farhh The Best |
28/1(-180%) | (7) By Farhh The Best 28/1, Once-raced filly. Fourth of 11 in maiden at Wolverhampton (8.6f, 10/1) on debut 55 days ago. Should progress. Debut fourth was fair enough but she may not flourish until tackling longer trips. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (2) (200/1 -506%) Red Hot Rose |
200/1(-506%) | (2) Red Hot Rose 200/1, Twice-raced filly. Last of 4 in maiden at Chelmsford City (6f, 28/1) 12 days ago, not knocked about. Significantly up in trip. Both runs have hinted at better; new trip might help; handicaps more suitable in time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (5) (125/1 -279%) Jonniebeegood |
125/1(-279%) | (5) Jonniebeegood 125/1, Once-raced colt. Eighth of 13 in maiden at Kempton (7f, 16/1) on debut 18 days ago. Never dangerous on last month's Kempton debut (7f); one for the longer term. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Havana Force stepped forward from her debut third at Chelmsford when filling the runner-up spot at Newcastle and the extra furlong on this occasion is likely to aid her cause. The vote, though, goes to ROGER HENRY, who shaped encouragingly when second on his first start at Southwell and is expected to benefit from that experience. Pentacle (second) and Princess In Rome (fourth) are closely matched on their recent meeting at Southwell and the pair are entitled to be in the mix.
PRINCESS IN ROME travelled well for a long way back from 9 months off when fourth at Southwell and her pedigree points to ongoing improvement, so she's preferred to Pentacle and Havana Force, who also upped their form last time.
Sorontar can take a big step forward with his debut behind him but PENTACLE ran well at Southwell last time and can go one better.

1st (5) (13/2 -8%) No Hubs No Hoobs |
13/2(-8%) | (5) No Hubs No Hoobs 13/2, Posted career best, in first-time blinkers, when winning 9-runner handicap chase over C&D (heavy) 19 days ago, staying on well. 7 lb higher mark will make life tougher but he must enter calculations. Dual C&D winner, latterly on heavy ground last month; 7lb higher in stronger race today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (9/4 +63%) Gingerbred |
9/4(+63%) | (8) Gingerbred 9/4, Off the mark over fences when taking 8-runner handicap at Ffos Las (23.8f, heavy, 5/2) 35 days ago, pushed out. Just 3 lb higher here and not taken lightly. Form of last month's heavy-ground win was recently boosted by the runner-up; shortlisted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (7/2 +30%) Inflexible |
7/2(+30%) | (7) Inflexible 7/2, Showed much-improved form in this sphere when runner-up at Hereford (25,2f) in January and backed that up with good third of 9 in Market Rasen handicap (23.9f, soft) 30 days ago. Likely to go well again. 0-5 over fences but has performed well on both outings this year and must be considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (7/2 +13%) Windance |
7/2(+13%) | (3) Windance 7/2, Won back-to-back handicaps last term and would have landed the hat-trick (back from 12 months off) but for unseating rider at last in handicap chase at Plumpton (25.7f, soft) 10 days ago. Can race off same mark here and holds strong claims bidding to land this for the second year running. Won this in 2023 and was unluckly not to score on last month's return; 5lb well in here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (5/1 -100%) Regal Blue |
5/1(-100%) | (1) Regal Blue 5/1, Didn't kick on as expected over hurdles but found improvement since switched to the larger obstacles, scoring at fourth time of asking in Haydock handicap (19.9f, heavy) last month. 4 lb higher now but may have more to offer yet. Has mixed record this season but came good over fences with clearcut win last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (12/1 -71%) Haut Folin |
12/1(-71%) | (6) Haut Folin 12/1, Forged clear to land a gamble at Ffos Las on return and placed all 3 subsequent starts, most recently finishing a solid third off this mark at Fontwell (26f), despite some shoddy jumping. Warrants respect. Won in good style on seasonal debut and placed on all three starts since; in the mix again. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 3 race.
WINDANCE seemed set to complete a hat-trick on his return, only to unseat his rider at the last at Plumpton. The nine-year-old is effectively 5lb well-in and compensation could await if proving none the worse on this quick turnaround. Regal Blue found the drop back to 2m4f at Haydock to his liking when opening his account over the larger obstacles. He has yet to convince with his stamina beyond three miles, though, so a bigger threat may emerge in the shape of recent C&D scorer No Hubs No Hoobs.
A late mishap prevented WINDANCE making a successful return at Plumpton last month but he is able to race off the same mark and can get back on the scoreboard in the race he won last year. Gingerbred and No Hubs No Hoobs are feared most in what looks a competitive affair.
Last year's winner WINDANCE was unlucky at Plumpton last week and is 5lb well in as he bids for quick compensation.

1st (2) (8/15 +21%) Rocheval |
8/15(+21%) | (2) Rocheval 8/15, Impressive winner of 8-runner Aintree bumper on debut in November and saw off same stablemate in decisive fashion on hurdles debut at Ayr (2m, soft) the following month. Type to go on improving for a good while yet on that evidence and he looks the one to beat again. Impressively landed Aintree bumper and Ayr juvenile; more to offer and the one to beat. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (11/1 -47%) She's Notjoeking |
11/1(-47%) | (4) She's Notjoeking 11/1, Milan filly who is related to winners and made perfect start when taking 7-runner junior bumper at Newcastle (14.3f) in November. Not ideally placed when fifth back at that venue since (also still green) and she ought to have a future in this sphere. Winning start in Newcastle bumper; not discredited when fifth there since; much respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (2/1 +40%) Hill Spirit |
2/1(+40%) | (1) Hill Spirit 2/1, Fair form when making the frame in trio of bumpers and similar form when successful in junior hurdle at Ludlow (15.7f) in January. Jumped sketchily and couldn't match that level when fourth of 5 under a penalty at Chepstow next time but far too soon to be writing him off. Won at Ludlow; not disgraced when fourth at Chepstow in January; very much considered. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
ROCHEVAL confirmed his promise in bumpers when running out a ready winner on his hurdling debut at Ayr in December. Lucinda Russell's gelding looks capable of defying a 7lb penalty and he can keep his unbeaten record intact. Hill Spirit may serve the most resistance to the selection if judged on his penultimate outing when scoring at Ludlow in early January. Kabuki will need to build on his fifth-placed timber bow at Newbury, but he could well do so.
Having run out an impressive winner on bumper debut, ROCHEVAL maintained his 100% record with an authoritative hurdles debut victory at Ayr in December, and with further progress expected he can make it 3-3. Hill Spirit may emerge as the chief threat if dispelling his Chepstow run.
Lucinda Russell's unbeaten Kapgarde gelding ROCHEVAL has created a favourable impression and gets a confident vote as he bids to go 3-3

1st (2) (7/2 +0%) The Thames Boatman |
7/2(+0%) | (2) The Thames Boatman 7/2, Refitted with a hood when back to winning ways over minimum trip here in November and should be straighter for recent Wolverhampton run. Shortlisted. Not at his best last time and usually seen at 5f; 1-1 at Lingfield though & he's talented. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (8/1 -78%) Muscika |
8/1(-78%) | (3) Muscika 8/1, C&D winner who has been in good form in recent starts, latest when second of 5 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 27 days ago. Likely contender. Prolific winner who comes here in good form; should make another bold bid from the front. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (14/1 +0%) Whenthedealinsdone |
14/1(+0%) | (7) Whenthedealinsdone 14/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2022. Last of 7 in handicap (16/1) at this C&D (AW) 32 days ago. Work to do. Quiet last year and again back from a break/wind op over C&D last month; risky for now. |

15/2(-36%) | (5) Tyger Bay 15/2, 3-time C&D winner. Latest win at Wolverhampton in December. Good second of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f, 12/1) 12 days ago, no match for winner. Each-way claims. Bumped into an improver at Chelmsford latest; still well treated on last winter's form. |

5th (8) (7/1 -75%) Beauzon |
7/1(-75%) | (8) Beauzon 7/1, Brought up a 4-timer at Wolverhampton (all 6.1f) last month and got back on track when close second of 10 in handicap (9/1) at Kempton (6f) 5 days ago. Likely to go well again. Back to form when picked off late at Kempton on Saturday; C&D winner; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/2 +63%) Walking On Clouds |
9/2(+63%) | (6) Walking On Clouds 9/2, Four wins from 17 runs last year. Sixth of 7 in handicap (12/1) at Kempton (7f) 33 days ago. Makes limited appeal. On a good mark and the betting is likely to predict when a revival is imminent. |

7th (4) (10/1 +17%) Revenite |
10/1(+17%) | (4) Revenite 10/1, Last of 12 in handicap at Newcastle (5f, 18/1) 26 days ago. Something to prove at present. No form since his 2yo days; could yet bounce back but the jury is out for now. |

8th (9) (10/1 -11%) Masterclass |
10/1(-11%) | (9) Masterclass 10/1, Below form third of 9 in handicap at Chelmsford City (6f, 7/1) 21 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. On a fair mark and should find this being run to suit; one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (5/1 +17%) King Cabo |
5/1(+17%) | (1) King Cabo 5/1, Latest win at Kempton in September. Seventh of 8 in handicap (7/2) at Chelmsford City (6f) 12 days ago. Others preferred. Form dipped at Chelmsford last time but running well on AW beforehand, including over C&D. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
BEAUZON appreciated the return to 6f when just held at Kempton on Saturday and the five-year-old, who has already won on four occasions at Wolverhampton this year, could yet have more to offer. Muscika has been knocking on the door recently, recording runner-up efforts both over C&D and at Wolverhampton, and he is likely to be in the mix once again. The Thames Boatman, Tyger Bay and Masterclass appeal most of the remainder.
BEAUZON has already had a very productive 2024 and almost added to his tally at Kempton last week. He gets the nod in a tricky-looking contest. Muscika and The Thames Boatman head the list of dangers.
This should be run at a proper gallop and Masterclass and TYGER BAY are likely to be arriving on the scene late.

1st (1) (9/2 -200%) Emily's Choice |
9/2(-200%) | (1) Emily's Choice 9/2, Successful on last of 7 runs in Irish points and made the ideal start under Rules when landing a 9-runner 17f novice hurdle at Newcastle 3 weeks ago. Open to improvement and boasts strong claims. Made all on last month's rules debut at Newcastle and has obvious scope for progress. |

2nd (5) (20/1 +39%) Miss Hunky Dory |
20/1(+39%) | (5) Miss Hunky Dory 20/1, Beaten a fair way when third on debut in a bumper at Exeter. That effort was not completely devoid of promise but down the field on hurdling debut at Lingfield and looks more of a long-term prospect. Placed on bumper debut in January but made low-key hurdling debut last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (4) (10/3 -21%) Mavis Pike |
10/3(-21%) | (4) Mavis Pike 10/3, Fair form shown in bumpers and, back from 11 months off, was a fading fifth of 12 in novice hurdle at Chepstow (16f, heavy) on hurdles bow 37 days ago. Should strip fitter. Made quite promising hurdle debut on heavy ground in January; should progress; considered. |

4th (3) (16/1 +52%) Chase Park |
16/1(+52%) | (3) Chase Park 16/1, Wasn't disgraced when fourth back from 18 months off in a Huntingdon bumper but subsequent efforts (including over hurdles) have left much to be desired. Has shown a modicum of ability in bumpers/over hurdles but needs to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (4/5 +36%) Twyford's Diamond |
4/5(+36%) | (9) Twyford's Diamond 4/5, Showed little in a brace of bumpers but going the right way over hurdles, a good third in a novice at Market Rasen 16 days ago. Worth a chance to open her account in a weak race. Third behind two fairly useful mares at Market Rasen last month; leading contender here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (20/1 +70%) Northern Reel |
20/1(+70%) | (7) Northern Reel 20/1, £38,000 buy after winning an Irish point but little to get excited about under Rules. Irish point winner in 2022 but pulled up when 100-1 for hurdling debut in January. |

7th (10) (200/1 -100%) My Mate Polly |
200/1(-100%) | (10) My Mate Polly 200/1, No promise in bumpers and a juvenile hurdle. Hard to make any sort of case for. Tailed off in two bumpers in November and also struggled on recent hurdling debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (6) (125/1 -150%) Nan Brady |
125/1(-150%) | (6) Nan Brady 125/1, Pulled up only start in Irish points and no encouragement as yet under Rules. Unable to land a significant blow on her first two hurdling starts. |

125/1(-25%) | (2) Bresilliantly So 125/1, Pulled up in novice hurdle at Exeter (18.5f, soft, 200/1) on NH debut 108 days ago, losing touch fifth. Doesn't make any appeal. Always behind when 200-1 for debut at Exeter (2m2f) in November. |

|PU| (8) (150/1 -355%) Too Shy Shy |
150/1(-355%) | (8) Too Shy Shy 150/1, Modest on Flat, stays 1½m, ran poorly when last seen in 2022. Has left John Flint and others make more appeal on this hurdling debut. Low-grade Flat winner last summer but makes only limited appeal on stable/hurdle debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Point-to-point winner Emily's Choice made the perfect start to her Rules career when leading all the way at Newcastle and she likely has more to offer. She does have a 7lb penalty to shoulder, which may leave her vulnerable to TWYFORD'S DIAMOND. Representing the red-hot Ben Pauling yard, the five-year-old was far from disgraced when finding two higher-rated rivals too strong at Market Rasen and a similar performance may suffice. Mavis Pike completes the shortlist.
TWYFORD'S DIAMOND is steadily getting better over hurdles and a repeat of the form she showed when third at Market Rasen 16 days ago could be enough to see her open her account at the likely expense of Emily's Choice, who is penalised for her Newcastle win three weeks ago. Mavis Pike is another one to consider.
Preference is for TWYFORD'S DIAMOND, who was a very respectable third in a much stronger race than this at Market Rasen last month.

1st (3) (10/3 -11%) William Of York |
10/3(-11%) | (3) William Of York 10/3, Progressive over hurdles for Dan Skelton and belatedly confirmed early chase promise for present yard when running out a dominant winner of 9-runner Doncaster handicap (19f, heavy) 2 weeks back. Cheekpieces worn then retained and respected despite 10 lb hike in weights. Cheekpieces on when opening his account in this sphere at Doncaster; not taken lightly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (5) (2/1 +50%) Hello Judge |
2/1(+50%) | (5) Hello Judge 2/1, Winning hurdler who added a second chase victory to his tally at this course (20f) 17 days ago, able to dictate but getting the job done in determined fashion. Up just 1 lb for that so no reason why he won't make his presence felt again. Back to winning ways here latest; both chase successes have come at this track; considered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (1) (11/2 -120%) Choosethenews |
11/2(-120%) | (1) Choosethenews 11/2, Wide-margin winner on his sole outing in points and looked a useful prospect sent hurdling when making all at Ayr (21.4f) in December 2022. Shaped as if retaining ability in face of stiff task when behind Giovinco on return/chase debut at Newcastle 3 weeks ago and he could build on that now. Off 13 months off before beaten in match on Newcastle chasing debut; enters calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (6/1 -33%) Jacks Parrot |
6/1(-33%) | (4) Jacks Parrot 6/1, Bumper winner who displayed fair form over fences in France last year, in frame in 4-y-o events at Moulins and Auteuil at around 2¾m. Joined yard that do well with new recruits and interesting if the market speaks in his favour with cheekpieces refitted. Fairly useful chaser in France for Emmanuel Clayeux; interesting debutant for good yard. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (9/2 -13%) Teescomponentsyess |
9/2(-13%) | (2) Teescomponentsyess 9/2, Dual hurdles winner who produced a performance akin to his best in that sphere when ending losing run over fences at Gowran (20f, heavy) 3 weeks ago, asserting run-in. Comes here operating from 11 lb higher mark but respected nevertheless under Brian Hughes. Finally off the mark over fences at Gowran latest; up 11lb but firmly in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (20/1 +20%) Poetry Man |
20/1(+20%) | (6) Poetry Man 20/1, Runner-up completed start in Irish points and best effort over hurdles when fourth in a Newcastle novice (16.9f, heavy) in January. Couldn't build on that for switch to handicaps on chase debut back there last month though and others make greater appeal. Made mistakes late on when 7th on chasing debut at Newcastle; not ruled out up in trip. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
WILLIAM OF YORK proved a revelation in first-time cheekpieces when jumping with aplomb to open his account over fences at Doncaster. The handicapper has reacted by hiking him 10lb in the ratings, but there could be more to come from Rebecca Menzies' eight-year-old. Teescomponentsyess ran out a ready scorer at Gowran and he warrants respect in his current mood, as does dual course winner Hello Judge.
TEESCOMPONENTSYESS has been hit with an 11 lb rise for his chase victory at Gowran 3 weeks ago, yet he got the job done pretty comfortably and, with conditions in his favour, Shark Hanlon's charge looks a live player once more. Ex-French recruit Jacks Parrot is interesting on debut for a yard boasting an excellent strike rate in this sphere and along with Doncaster scorer William of York, heads up the dangers.
The vote goes to JACKS PARROT who has some fairly useful chasing form in France and can make a winning start for his excellent new yard

2nd (9) (13/8 +35%) Queen Of Zafeen |
13/8(+35%) | (9) Queen Of Zafeen 13/8, Off the mark first time up at Southwell in January and followed up in impressive fashion over C&D 28 days ago. Looks the one to beat up in class. 2-2, quickening impressively over C&D four weeks ago; this is tougher but she's promising. |

3rd (1) (9/4 +0%) Orne |
9/4(+0%) | (1) Orne 9/4, Promising sort who scored twice last year and arrives on back of good second of 14 in local Group 2 Al Rayyan Mile at Doha (8f, good) 19 days ago. Remains open to improvement. Group 3 winner at two; latest Doha 2nd can be upgraded; big player despite his penalty. |

4th (7) (17/2 +6%) Ahlain |
17/2(+6%) | (7) Ahlain 17/2, Back on the up when taking 6-runner handicap at Kempton (7f, 5/1) 29 days ago, driven out. This is tougher but she likely has more to offer yet. 2-2 on AW, both over this trip at Kempton; this demands another surge of progress. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (4) (7/1 -8%) Habrdi |
7/1(-8%) | (4) Habrdi 7/1, Useful colt. Three wins from 6 runs last year. Career best when winning 5-runner nursery at Chelmsford City (8f, 10/11) 84 days ago, plenty in hand. Enters calculations. Ended his 2yo campaign on a sharp upward curve; likely there's more to come this year. |

6th (8) (50/1 +0%) Betties Bay |
50/1(+0%) | (8) Betties Bay 50/1, Fairly useful filly. 66/1, excellent third of 10 in handicap at Kempton (6f) 18 days ago, never nearer. More on plate here. 6f winner at two and shaped well on last month's return; 7f can suit but this demands more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (5) (14/1 -17%) Lessay |
14/1(-17%) | (5) Lessay 14/1, Thrice-raced winner. One win from 1 run last year. Winner at Kempton in December. 5/4, second of 13 in minor event at Kempton (7f) 29 days ago. Improvement required. A win and two seconds from three 7f runs at Kempton this winter; this looks much deeper. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (3) (14/1 -100%) Blown Away |
14/1(-100%) | (3) Blown Away 14/1, Fairly useful gelding. Winner at Chelmsford City in September. 5/2, last of 5 in minor event at Kempton (8f) 15 days ago. Blinkers back on. Others more persuasive. Has some solid form on Polytrack but needs to step up on his latest run; stable runs two. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (10) (250/1 -150%) Star Mind |
250/1(-150%) | (10) Star Mind 250/1, Fair filly. Latest win at Newcastle in January. Sixth of 8 in handicap at Newcastle (7.1f, 11/2) 14 days ago. Difficult ask. 2-4 for this yard but looks out of her depth at this level. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 1 race.
Orne very much sets the standard in this contest, rated 100 after filling the runner-up berth in a Group 2 event at Doha last month, and he warrants huge respect. However, QUEEN OF ZAFEEN is taken to improve past him as even though she is rated 7lb inferior, she comes into this unbeaten after two starts. Richard Hughes' filly carried a penalty to victory in impressive fashion over C&D last time and she could take this step up in class in her stride. Habrdi readily won two handicaps last year and he has to be considered.
QUEEN OF ZAFEEN looked a useful filly in the making when scoring here last month and can extend her unbeaten run. Orne and Ahlain rate the principal dangers.
Orne has the best form but trying to concede 10lb to the promising QUEEN OF ZAFEEN may prove beyond him.

13/8(+41%) | (5) Madaket 13/8, Left previous efforts well behind when making a winning handicap debut at Chepstow (19.5f, soft) on return in October. Hasn't matched that form in 3 subsequent outings but put in some good late work over 21f at Kempton last time and should be suited by a return to 3m. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Shaped as though worth another crack at 3m when keeping-on second over 2m5f last month. |

2nd (7) (3/1 +57%) Moonlight Artist |
3/1(+57%) | (7) Moonlight Artist 3/1, Got off the mark at Exeter (23f, soft) in November and backed it up with a solid third at Aintree (25f, heavy) in December. Below form on a sounder surface at Hereford last time but could bounce back with conditions in his favour. Below best after jumping left last time but has claims if judged on earlier form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/2 -57%) Sporty Jim |
11/2(-57%) | (2) Sporty Jim 11/2, Low-mileage 7-y-o who bounced back to form when second of 7 in handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (23.1f, soft) 30 days ago. Needs considering in first-time cheekpieces. Back on track when second at Market Rasen last month; cheekpieces added here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (9/1 +25%) Faded Fantasy |
9/1(+25%) | (6) Faded Fantasy 9/1, Southwell maiden winner who ran better than for a while in a first-time tongue strap when third of 7 in a handicap hurdle at Hereford (19.7f, soft) 22 days ago. Up in trip. Has stamina to prove today but returned from break with encouraging 2m3f run last month. |

16/1(-167%) | (4) Burrows Park 16/1, Proving inconsistent over hurdles this season and unseated his rider early back chasing at Hereford 11 days ago. Quirky customer who often races lazily; conditions will suit but he's tricky to predict. |

|PU| (3) (5/1 +17%) Rare Clouds |
5/1(+17%) | (3) Rare Clouds 5/1, Confirmed recent promise with success in 7-runner handicap here (21.4f, heavy) in January. Ran poorly when pulled up at Ascot last time but he's perhaps worth another chance back down in class. Won in good style here in January but pulled up since and remains on fairly tough mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Despite looking outpaced over 2m5f at Kempton last month, MADAKET kept on well into second. Cheekpieces are applied for the first time now and with the step back up to 3m likely to aid his chance, he gets the nod. Sporty Jim split a pair of in-form rivals at Market Rasen so he ought to hold every chance from just 2lb higher, while Burrows Park appeals most of the remainder.
The way MADAKET finished over 21f at Kempton last month strongly suggests this step back up in trip is well worth exploring and he gets the vote in a competitive handicap now tried in cheekpieces. Sporty Jim could be the danger.
If judged on the form of his heavy-ground third at Aintree two starts ago, MOONLIGHT ARTIST has strong claims here.

Hasn't been able to reproduce that form since but can't be ruled out in a weak affair. Hood back on and also fitted with a first-time tongue strap. Too keen at Musselburgh and was beaten when falling at the final flight at Hereford last time. Needs to get back on track after a small break. Won at Doncaster in November but well held when falling last at Hereford last time. |

28/1(-600%) | (2) Princess Of Mercia 28/1, Poor form at best in maiden/novice hurdles but may do better now handicapping at a low level. Blue Bresil mare who has hinted at promise in her three runs; interesting on h'cap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
As the only previous hurdles winner in the race, Maggie O is high on the shortlist from just 3lb higher than when she took a handicap at Doncaster back in November. River Robe also appeals on the pick of her Irish form and and is one to note in the betting on debut for the Max Young yard. However, BLAME ROSE showed improvement in both starts since having a wind operation and looks worth chancing given she is in receipt of plenty of weight from her main rivals.
YOU SOME GIRL has gone backwards following a promising start in handicaps, but this former fair bumper winner is worth one more chance now fitted with a first-time tongue strap. Asa and handicap-debutante Princess of Mercia are feared most in that order.
It could pay to side with Lucinda Russell's PRINCESS OF MERCIA who has shown some promise and could take a step forward now h'capping

80/1(-400%) | (11) Brazen Diamond 80/1, 8/1, creditable third of 8 in handicap at this C&D (AW). Off 15 months. First run for yard after leaving Robyn Brisland. Likely best watched. Contender on her form for previous yard but has a 451-day absence to overcome. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (5/1 -25%) My Mate Mike |
5/1(-25%) | (7) My Mate Mike 5/1, Career best when winning 12-runner handicap over C&D (AW, 12/1) 34 days ago. Just 2 lb higher now and is one for the shortlist. Ran on well to win a C&D handicap five weeks ago; 2lb rise shouldn't prevent a big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (12) (80/1 -100%) Reason To Pass |
80/1(-100%) | (12) Reason To Pass 80/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, last of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f, 18/1) 12 days ago. Improvement required. Pulled hard when last of seven on recent handicap debut; no headgear today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
RABINAL beat So Chic (third) by over a length when they competed over track and trip last month and it would be a shock if that form was reversed, even with a 4lb pull for John Long's filly. The son of New Approach was well on top at the line that day and he can complete the double. As for the latter, she is likely to prove the main threat again, while last-time-out winner My Mate Mike is another to watch out for.
Plenty with claims here including MY MATE MIKE, who is low mileage for his age and got off the mark over C&D last month. Rabinal and Mount Mogan are feared most.
A competitive handicap but MY MATE MIKE (nap) has run well in both Lingfield starts and can defy his small rise in the weights.

1st (12) (11/8 +39%) Robber's Bridge |
11/8(+39%) | (12) Robber's Bridge 11/8, Remains a maiden after 16 NH runs but produced his best effort to date when runner-up in handicap hurdle at Leicester (2m, heavy) in January. That form is proving strong and he could be ready to open his account this time around. Collared close home at Leicester (1m7f, heavy) in January; up 2lb; acts here; player.. |

2nd (1) (33/1 -106%) Hawk Stone |
33/1(-106%) | (1) Hawk Stone 33/1, Showed more than in bumpers when sixth of 18 in maiden at this C&D (heavy) on his hurdles bow in December. However, he's been well beaten both starts since, so improvement required as he makes his handicap debut. Missed a race last week after he scoped wrong; initial mark looks stiff based on his form.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (22/1 -120%) Dundory |
22/1(-120%) | (8) Dundory 22/1, Fairly useful Flat winner but has made little impact in 3 starts in maiden hurdles this winter. He's worth a market check, though, given his ability on the level as he makes his handicap debut in this sphere. May be able to show more now entering handicaps from a workable mark; market check.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (11) (8/1 -33%) Guivinec |
8/1(-33%) | (11) Guivinec 8/1, Irish point winner but hasn't offered much in a bumper and novice hurdles so far, making no impression when fifth of 11 at Taunton (19f, good to soft) on his latest outing. However, no surprise to see him fare better now handicapping. Point winner; initial mark workable and any market confidence would pique interest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (7) (100/1 -203%) Royal Regard |
100/1(-203%) | (7) Royal Regard 100/1, Showed ability early in his career but his form has gone the wrong way, absent over 2 years prior to the current season and offering little in 2 starts for his current yard. Best watched. 0-8 across both codes; we need to see more before recommending him.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (13) (66/1 -230%) Canal Rocks |
66/1(-230%) | (13) Canal Rocks 66/1, One-time fairly useful handicapper on Flat but well below that level over hurdles, though did capitalise on his falling mark when successful at Worcester in June 2022. However, has finished down the field both starts since his return from 16 months off. Tongue strap back on. Hasn't shown much in one start in either code since returning from a lengthy absence.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (4) (7/1 +65%) Universal Secret |
7/1(+65%) | (4) Universal Secret 7/1, Dual C&D winner last season but yet to fire in the current campaign, pulled up in handicap here (19.8f, soft) last month. Edging back down in the weights as a result, but he needs to get back on track returned to this shorter trip. Won twice over C&D last year; nowhere near that level since; well treated if reviving.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (5/1 +0%) Daany |
5/1(+0%) | (6) Daany 5/1, Finally off the mark at this C&D (heavy) in January and again ran well when second back here 6 days later. Below form at Ffos Las next time, but creditable effort back on the Flat when mid-field at Kempton (11f) 22 days ago. Shortlisted returned to this venue. Below par both in this code and on AW on his last two starts; player if bouncing back.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (9) (12/1 +40%) Mr Zee |
12/1(+40%) | (9) Mr Zee 12/1, Fair handicapper on the Flat, successful 3 times last year. However, he's finished well held all 3 starts over hurdles, never a threat when sixth of 17 in maiden at this C&D (soft) last time. Needs to take a step forward switched to a handicap. Best effort over hurdles was his most recent but needs improvement to defy this mark.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (8/1 -129%) Orange Diamond |
8/1(-129%) | (2) Orange Diamond 8/1, Fairly useful handicap hurdler in France but has failed to complete over fences all 5 starts for current yard. However, in first-time cheekpieces he looked sure to be involved in the finish when falling 2 out at Hereford (20.9f, soft) 22 days ago. Interesting back hurdling. Fell two out in a chase latest; up 5lb for this return to hurdles; more needed.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (12/1 -60%) Miss Fedora |
12/1(-60%) | (5) Miss Fedora 12/1, Opened her account at Fontwell (19.2f) in November but followed that with a lesser effort here (19.8f) the following month. Soon bounced back when fourth of 9 returned to Fontwell (21.8f) in January, though didn't quite see out the longer trip. Not discounted. Travelled strongly before weakening into fourth latest (career best); each-way player.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ORANGE DIAMOND has failed to complete on each of his five starts over the larger obstacles but the six-year-old, a dual hurdles winner on testing ground when trained in France, could be revitalised by the switch to timber. Robber's Bridge continues to knock on the door and he is unlikely to be far away, while Mr Zee is worth a second look ahead of this handicap bow.
ROBBER'S BRIDGE found some improvement when runner-up at Leicester on his latest outing, form which has worked out well, and he can build on that effort to go one better. Orange Diamond was in the process of running well over fences when departing last time, so he could be the main danger reverted to hurdling, ahead of C&D winner Daany.
The strongest candidate on recent form is the maiden ROBBER'S BRIDGE. He is a tad vulnerable but deserves to pick up a race like this.

9/4(+0%) | (2) One More Stroke 9/4, Promising sort who made a winning start over hurdles when taking 10-runner novice at Catterick (19.3f, soft) 43 days ago. Should progress and is one for the shortlist. Made winning hurdles debut at Catterick in January; more to offer; merits consideration. |

22/1(-120%) | (3) Breizh River 22/1, Fair in bumpers and ran to similar level on second start in this sphere when fourth of 8 in novice at Newcastle (16.9f, soft) 12 days ago. Each-way player. Good fourth in 2m1f Newcastle novice 12 days ago; he can take a step forward here. |

3rd (11) (7/1 +22%) Rioja Alta |

Entitled to build on that. Fair 1m4f Flat maiden; encouraging hurdling start when third at Catterick; not ruled out. |

Likely to need more time, though. Encouraging fifth in novice at Sedgefield; this son of Dartmouth can build on it. |

5th (5) (100/1 -52%) Dixie Cowboy |
100/1(-52%) | (5) Dixie Cowboy 100/1, Maiden Irish pointer who has made little impact in a couple of starts over timber. Looks a longer-term project. Maiden Irish pointer who has beaten one rival in a pair of 2m maiden hurdles this February. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 +20%) Kingofthegame |
40/1(+20%) | (7) Kingofthegame 40/1, Finished third on the second of his 2 starts in Irish points and showed more than on hurdling debut when fourth at Newcastle last month. Will likely be seen in better light when sent handicapping, however. Built on hurdling debut when fourth at Newcastle three weeks ago; he may do better still. |

7th (1) (7/1 -56%) Mister Moodles |
7/1(-56%) | (1) Mister Moodles 7/1, Made the frame both starts in bumpers last season and left hurdling debut form behind when landing a weak race at Doncaster (16.6f) in December. Progressed again when runner-up over same C&D latest and likely has more to offer yet. Won at Doncaster before excellent second there 15 days ago; very much one to consider. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (100/1 -300%) Vampire Slayer |
100/1(-300%) | (12) Vampire Slayer 100/1, Fair maiden on the Flat who is worth a check in the market on jumps debut. A fair 1m maiden on the Flat who now goes hurdling; he's no forlorn hope. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (4) (150/1 -50%) Clatterbridge |
150/1(-50%) | (4) Clatterbridge 150/1, Won a small-field Irish point in May 2022 but finished well held on hurdles bow at Doncaster last month. Winning pointer in 2022 but first run since when well-held seventh in Doncaster novice. |

|F| (6) (10/11 +9%) Highlands Legacy |
10/11(+9%) | (6) Highlands Legacy 10/11, Placed in a pair of bumpers earlier this term and made a promising start over hurdles when second of 12 in novice at Wincanton (15.2f, heavy) 19 days ago. Looks sure to progress and holds leading claims. Fairly useful form on hurdling debut when Wincanton 2nd; more to come so leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (200/1 -100%) Wilder Days |
200/1(-100%) | (9) Wilder Days 200/1, Little impact in points/Tipperary bumper and no signs of improvement for new yard on hurdles debut here last month. Offered little in bumper for John O'Neill last May and for his new yard in C&D hurdle. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (200/1 -33%) Sky's Your Limit |
200/1(-33%) | (10) Sky's Your Limit 200/1, Well held in a trio of bumpers and showed nothing on hurdles bow at this course last month. Pulled up on her hurdling debut over 2m3f here last month; others are more persuasive. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HIGHLANDS LEGACY appears to be progressing nicely and having finished a commendable second despite being hampered two out at Wincanton on his hurdles debut last month, the Jonjo O'Neill-trained gelding is presented with a good chance of going one place better. One More Stroke is shortlisted under a penalty for his game defeat of one of the selection's stablemates at Catterick, while Doncaster winner Mister Moodles is another to have on side.
HIGHLANDS LEGACY made an encouraging start over timber last month and looks sure to appreciate this stiffer test of stamina. He can open his account. One More Stroke and Mister Moodles are also open to improvement and rate the principal dangers.
Jonjo O'Neill's son of Kayf Tara HIGHLANDS LEGACY made a promising hurdling debut second at Wincanton and looks very much the way to go

11/10(+41%) | (2) Hannah's Return 11/10, Latest win at Wolverhampton in January. Not quite at her best when fourth at Kempton last time but big chance on previous form. Four-time AW winner who holds strong claims back down in trip and with Rossa Ryan booked. |

2nd (5) (11/4 -38%) Moorgate |
11/4(-38%) | (5) Moorgate 11/4, Modest gelding. C&D winner. Good fourth of 10 in minor event at this C&D (AW, 4/1) 25 days ago. Not taken lightly. C&D winner and latest C&D 4th has been well franked since; more appealing than most. |

3rd (1) (17/2 +15%) Dequinto |
17/2(+15%) | (1) Dequinto 17/2, Poor gelding who wasn't disgraced on first run since leaving Michael Butler after long absence when fifth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 21 days ago, left poorly placed. Ran ok after lengthy absence on last month's stable debut; may do better. |

5th (3) (150/1 -200%) Legal Mind |
150/1(-200%) | (3) Legal Mind 150/1, Remains a maiden after 18 Flat runs and finished only sixth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 125/1) 17 days ago. 18-race maiden; yet to fire in two starts back from a 1,240-day absence; hard to fancy. |

6th (4) (8/1 -7%) Lynwood Lad |
8/1(-7%) | (4) Lynwood Lad 8/1, Latest win at Wolverhampton in November. 9/1, fourth of 7 in minor event at Chelmsford City (6f) 14 days ago. Two 6f handicap wins in November; not beaten far latest but others still appeal more. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Moorgate finished a creditable fourth in a similar contest over C&D last month and it would be no surprise to see him hit the frame, but if adopting his usual waiting tactics, he may prove something of a prisoner to fortune. Preference is for HANNAH'S RETURN, who made all over 6f at Wolverhampton on her penultimate start, prior to a subdued effort over 7f recently. However, with Rossa Ryan doing the steering back down in trip, she can make every yard a winning one. The hardy Red Walls also warrants respect at the scene of his latest victory.
HANNAH'S RETURN wasn't at her best at Kempton last time but can get back to winning ways if returning to the sort of form she was showing at Wolverhampton prior to that. Moorgate and Red Walls head the dangers.
Moorgate looks sure to go well under these conditions but HANNAH'S RETURN is marginally preferred.

2nd (5) (15/2 -50%) West Orchard |
15/2(-50%) | (5) West Orchard 15/2, Jumped well when successful at Plumpton in November and back on track last 2 starts. Hard to rely on but can't be dismissed back up in trip in a thin race. Below par since winning, despite being placed in his last two; still a probable player.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (9/4 +0%) William Ewart |
9/4(+0%) | (2) William Ewart 9/4, Form patchy since his convincing victory over hurdles at Bangor (23f, soft) but justified support when scoring for the first time over fences at Southwell 18 days ago. Capable of going well again. Broke chase duck at the fourth attempt latest; up 4lb; might have more to offer. |

4th (1) (9/4 -20%) Camulus |
9/4(-20%) | (1) Camulus 9/4, Modest performer but showed some improvement starting out for this yard when second of 5 in handicap chase at Lingfield (23.5f, heavy) 14 days ago after a year off and entitled to come on for that. Can go one better. Second of five in a Lingfield chase (2m7f, heavy) recently; up 2lb but looks a player.. |

5th (6) (9/2 +40%) Seymour Promise |
9/2(+40%) | (6) Seymour Promise 9/2, Long-standing maiden who has fallen a long way in the weights this season and ran best race for some time when second over C&D in January. Merely underlined inconsistency at Hereford since, however. Blinkers back on. Not written off based on his C&D second (heavy) in January but failed to complete latest.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (3) (18/1 -80%) Paseo |
18/1(-80%) | (3) Paseo 18/1, Scored at Ludlow on last season's return but very little to shout about since and Deutsch prefers Camulus. Hasn't given us much to recommend him on since last winning at Ludlow 16 months ago.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
The vote goes to WILLIAM EWART, who was on target in a similar event at Southwell last month and a subsequent 4lb rise might underestimate Christian Williams' seven-year-old. His former stable companion Camulus posted a decent second at Lingfield on his first appearance for the Venetia Williams team and he features prominently in calculations, along with West Orchard, who is just 1lb higher than when winning at Plumpton in November.
CAMULUS made a positive start for this yard after a year off when runner-up at Lingfield 2 weeks ago and this looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark. William Ewart justified support at Southwell last time and is the obvious threat.
Southwell winner WILLIAM EWART (nap) is taken to follow up here, with the extra furlong looking positive.

13/2(+74%) | (7) Uptown Harry 13/2, Ridden positively and took full advantage of a drop in the weights when landing 9-runner class 2 handicap chase here (20f) a year ago. Yet to fire this season but took a bigger step back in the right direction when sixth over C&D last month and is potentially well handicapped. Course winner who hinted at a revival when C&D sixth last month; well in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (9/4 +10%) O'connell |
9/4(+10%) | (3) O'connell 9/4, Winning Irish pointer who's getting the hang of things under Rules, off the mark in handicap chase at Market Rasen (heavy) before decent efforts in defeat since, runner-up to a subsequent winner at Leicester 6 weeks ago. Has some quirks but can resume winning ways back down in class. Won at Market Rasen and runner-up at Leicester latest; merits serious consideration. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (20/1 -264%) Keep Wondering |
20/1(-264%) | (2) Keep Wondering 20/1, Not as good as he was though best effort for current yard when third over C&D last month. Needs to build on that but's back down in class. Winless since 2021 but best effort for current yard when C&D third latest; in the picture. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (5) (15/2 -7%) Shot Boii |
15/2(-7%) | (5) Shot Boii 15/2, Healthy strike rate over hurdles (4-14) and scored at the third attempt in this sphere at Hereford (25.2f, soft) in January. Lost little caste in defeat when runner-up at Warwick next time but let down by jumping at Kempton since. Undone by a bad error when third at Kempton handicap last month; player off same mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (10/3 -67%) Concetto |
10/3(-67%) | (1) Concetto 10/3, Proved a totally different proposition sent chasing last season, scoring on handicap debut at Huntingdon before following up at Musselburgh. Form dipped after but bounced back to score at Market Rasen last month and that form looks solid. Back to winning ways at Market Rasen latest; up 5lb but he's not taken lightly. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (7/2 +42%) Five Dollar Fine |
7/2(+42%) | (6) Five Dollar Fine 7/2, Modest maiden hurdler and similar form over fences, good second over C&D last time. This tougher. Yet to register a victory but good second over C&D last time; one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (11/1 +0%) Hold The Note |
11/1(+0%) | (4) Hold The Note 11/1, Well held last 2 starts when last seen in the spring but returned to form from out of the blue to score over this C&D a year ago so not dismissed out of hand. Unreliable sort but this C&D scorer has won off a break so he can't be totally discounted. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Concetto is 3-9 over fences and his reliability is persuasive in his bid to follow up last month's success at Market Rasen off just 5lb higher. However, O'CONNELL is a shade more intriguing. The Sue Smith-trained eight-year-old is suited by a right-handed circuit and, with underfoot conditions also ideal, he edges the vote, given this also represents a drop back down in class. Shot Boii and Five Dollar Fine complete the shortlist.
O'CONNELL might not be the heartiest of battlers but he's worth another chance to resume winning ways back down in class. Concetto bounced back with a solid win at Market Rasen so rates the main threat ahead of Uptown Harry, who's lurking on a dangerous mark.
David Pipe's likeable SHOT BOII (nap) is taken to get back on the up having been derailed by a bad error when third at Kempton last time

2nd (4) (13/8 +46%) Something To Do |
13/8(+46%) | (4) Something To Do 13/8, C&D winner. Winner here in February. Tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable second of 7 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 9/4) 3 days ago, despite again going with little fluency. More severe headgear reached for. Not at his very best the last twice but he's a C&D winner and new headgear could help. |

14/1(-180%) | (5) Run Joy Run 14/1, Winner at Kempton in January. 14/1, respectable third of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 33 days ago. Should remain competitive. Improved since headgear went on; new trip today but a big player if she sees it out. |

7/2(+52%) | (1) Harlington 7/2, Thrice-raced maiden. 125/1, sixth of 10 in minor event at this course (8f, AW) 78 days ago, not knocked about. Appeals as the type to do better now handicapping up in trip. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Looks a likely improver upped in trip on this handicap debut; also tries cheekpieces. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
RUN JOY RUN was last seen finishing a staying-on third over an extended mile at Wolverhampton last month, only finding an in-form rival and a subsequent winner too good. Stepping up to 1m2f for the first time off an unchanged mark, Adam West's charge may take some stopping. Something To Do warrants respect sporting a first-time visor for a stable that have been amongst the winners of late, while better can be expected from Harlington, who wears first-time cheekpieces on his handicap debut.
ECCENTRIC isn't one for maximum faith given his occasional slow starts, but he ran about as well as could be expected behind a pair of lightly-raced improvers at this venue on his most recent outing and could be the answer if seeing out the longer trip. Mamalouka is better judged on her previous form having made her effort earlier than ideal at Newcastle last month, with handicap-debutant Harlington another to consider.
Cheekpieces have prompted improvement from RUN JOY RUN and she can take another step forward over this new trip.

Shortlisted from a 4 lb higher mark. Won over 1m6f at Wolverhampton last time; 1m4f here no issue; respected despite 4lb rise. |

11th (6) (14/1 -100%) Lednikov |
14/1(-100%) | (6) Lednikov 14/1, Shaped as if still in good form when fourth of 11 in handicap (3/1) at Southwell (12.1f) 5 months ago, headed over 1f out. Cheekpieces back on. Yard also saddles Lawmans Blis. 8lb below last winning mark, but returns from five months off; market helpful. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
A chance can be taken on BRISTOL HILL, who isn't quite in the same form as when landing the corresponding event off 1lb lower 12 months ago, but with Jack Mitchell back onboard, it would be no surprise were he to bounce back. Lawmans Blis defeated an in-form rival at Wolverhampton last time out so a subsequent 4lb rise looks more than fair, while Desert Quest, who hit the woodwork over track and trip 19 days ago, is also noted.
Making just his second start for this yard, LAWMANS BLIS did well to reel in one that was on a roll at Wolverhampton just under 2 weeks ago and remaining with some handicapping scope he can make light of a 4 lb rise and follow up. Easter Island got back on track in first-time cheekpieces here last month, so he may emerge as the main threat, with the selection's stablemate Lednikov and last year's winner Bristol Hill another couple to consider.
It may be worth chancing last year's winner BRISTOL HILL who disappointed last time, but the market suggested much better was expected.

Promising sort. 50/1, second of 17 in maiden at Newmarket (8f, good to firm) on debut. Off 161 days. Very much the one to beat. 250/1(-67%) | (2) Born To Charm 250/1, Once-raced maiden. Ninth of 10 in novice at this C&D (150/1) on debut 16 days ago. 150-1 when beating one home on his debut over C&D last month. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Kalpana won despite showing clear signs of immaturity on her debut and she must be respected under a penalty, especially with the prospect of more to come. However, the vote goes to Dubawi colt FIRST ALLIANCE, who was an unfortunate second (dead-heat) at Southwell in December. Karl Burke's charge was caught on heels that day, which meant Danny Tudhope was unable to ride out his mount given a clear run, and with the step up in trip likely to suit, he can make amends. Both Rogue Encore and Inisherin should not be underestimated either.
INISHERIN pulled clear of the rest when runner-up in what is traditionally a strong Newmarket maiden in September and looks the one to beat. Rogue Encore and First Alliance both showed plenty to work on when second at Kempton and Southwell respectively so are feared in what looks a decent novice.
The choice is INISHERIN who defied his 50-1 odds when just beaten in a big field on his Newmarket debut last September.

11/2(-22%) | (11) Tathmeen 11/2, Modest gelding. 7-time course winner. Three wins from 24 runs last year. Creditable third of 12 in handicap (15/2) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 5 days ago, nearest finish. Every chance if back to best. All 13 wins have come over 5f/6f and not difficult to oppose him over this trip. |

Enters calculations. Had four of these behind when winning a handicap over C&D last time; should go well again. |

9/1(-13%) | (9) Gintini 9/1, Poor gelding. 200/1 and blinkered for 1st time, good sixth of 12 in minor event at Lingfield (7f, AW) 31 days ago. Makes tapeta debut. First run for yard after leaving Laura Mongan. Visor on 1st time. One to note for in-form new stable. 0-14 and probably best watched on stable debut unless market suggests otherwise; visor on. |

12th (6) (20/1 -25%) Doon The Glen |
20/1(-25%) | (6) Doon The Glen 20/1, Poor gelding. 6/1, creditable sixth of 12 in handicap at this course (6f). Off 142 days. More required and might need the run. Unplaced all nine starts and off five months but drops to this level for the first time. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Not the strongest of contests in which Billy McGarry, who defeated Brother Dave (second) over C&D last month, is likely to have his supporters. BROXI drops to this level for the first time, though, and with an excellent chance on these terms, he might be worth taking a chance on. Tathmeen has been running well in defeat of late and he is entitled to place claims once again.
BROTHER DAVE is on the up and shaped best when runner-up at Southwell last time, so he's worth a chance to open his account now. Last-time-out winner Billy McGarry is an obvious danger and Tathmeen is worthy of a mention back at a track where he's had the bulk of his success.
This can go to BILLY MCGARRY who was successful in a handicap over C&D 16 days ago with three of these behind.

8th (6) (11/4 +21%) Redondo |
11/4(+21%) | (6) Redondo 11/4, Lightly-raced winner. Course winner. Winner here in February. Very good second of 8 in handicap at this course (8f, 11/4) 19 days ago, just failing. Can make presence felt. First and second over 1m here since joining this yard, but dropping a furlong not ideal. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Likeashadow has proven to be a really consistent performer and has gone well off this mark on each of his last three outings, finishing third in all of them. However, the vote goes to SUNBLOCK, who was victorious on handicap bow at Wolverhampton last week and she now has a 6lb penalty to carry. George Boughey's filly is likely to have plenty more to offer and she could be the one to beat. Ocean Bliss can fight it out for the minor honours in a first-time visor, with Luke Morris booked.
SUNBLOCK justified market support to make a winning handicap bow in good style at Wolverhampton on debut for this yard on Saturday, showing much-improved form in the process, and should prove hard to beat under a penalty. Redondo only just failed to make it 2 from 2 in handicaps here last month and is an obvious threat, with Noble Consort another to consider having shaped very well third on his handicap debut over this C&D 6 weeks ago.
The vote goes to SUNBLOCK (nap) who did it well when making a successful stable/handicap debut at Wolverhampton on Saturday.

Drop back in trip won't inconvenience him on that evidence and he's of interest back in handicaps. Ran well on stable debut at Kempton last time, but remains to be seen if drop to 6f helps. |

2nd (5) (3/1 -9%) Blue Virtue |
3/1(-9%) | (5) Blue Virtue 3/1, Blue Point filly who built on debut form when chasing home a fellow improver in a Southwell novice (6f) in January. Raced freely and couldn't repeat that level when third at Wolverhampton (7f) since but she remains of interest now attentions switch to handicaps/back down in trip. However, below best starting out for new yard when fifth of 7 in novice event at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 10 days ago. Must find best form now switched to handicaps. Hood on 1st time. Twice runner-up for Clive Cox, but held on stable debut; hood enlisted for handicap debut. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
MORNING SUIT finished a close-up third at Lingfield in January and his mark has been left unchanged for that effort. Archie Watson's colt sports first-time cheekpieces which could eke out the improvement needed. Blue Virtue has to be considered on her handicap bow having shown promise on all three outings so far. Of the remainder, Daring Legend makes the most appeal on his return to the handicap ranks.
DARING LEGEND (due to be 2 lb higher in future) ran well on his first start for 6 months/debut for the Mick Appleby yard when a close-up third at Kempton on Saturday and, with the drop back to 6f expected to suit, he looks to hold solid claims with the possibility of more to come. Blue Virtue is high on the shortlist on handicap debut/returned to sprinting, with Influence another respected eased in class.
The selection is MORNING SUIT who ran well over 7f last time while shaping as if this return to 6f will be in his favour.

22/1(-120%) | (3) Dream Together 22/1, Seventeen runs since last win in 2022. 13/2, may of needed the run after 5 months off when last of 6 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and he's one to keep an eye on from this much-reduced mark. Has failed to beat a rival the last twice and losing run up to 17; look elsewhere. |

5th (12) (40/1 -60%) Mutabaahy |
40/1(-60%) | (12) Mutabaahy 40/1, Unreliable individual. Course winner. Last of 11 in minor event (9/1) at Southwell (5f) 9 days ago. Slow starting tendencies always a concern with him. Needs things to fall just right and has only managed to win one of his last 53 starts. |

33/1(-32%) | (10) Atrafan 33/1, 6-time C&D winner. Eleventh of 12 in handicap (22/1) at this course (7.1f) 16 days ago, losing place quickly 2f out. Return to sprinting needs to have positive effect. Six wins over C&D; should appreciate the return to 6f; can't be dismissed entirely. |

7th (8) (12/1 +14%) Atlantic Heart |
12/1(+14%) | (8) Atlantic Heart 12/1, One win from 26 Flat runs. 11/4, fifth of 8 in minor event at this course (5f) 16 days ago, not seen to best effect racing wide/off the pace. Assessor continues to relinquish his grip at least. 1-26, but ran well a couple of times here last month; return to this trip may suit. |

9/1(+44%) | (5) Bluebells Boy 9/1, Twelve runs since last win in 2022. 13/2 and visored for 1st time, seventh of 11 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) in November, ridden too aggressively. Comes here operating from career-low mark but others appeal more for win purposes. 0-12 since handicapping; may need this after 111 days off. |

BLUE COLLAR LAD stole the race from the front at Wolverhampton on Saturday and Alice Haynes' gelding must hold every chance of following up, given he is 2lb well-in under a penalty. The well-handicapped Atlantic Heart is a big player from a draw on the nearside rail, while Bernie The Bear and Fantasy Navigator are others capable of a decent showing.
BLUE COLLAR LAD cemented the positive start made for his new yard when running out a convincing winner at Wolverhampton 5 days ago and turned out under a penalty, he looks to hold sound claims in his follow-up bid. Captain Wentworth only narrowly failed to justify strong support at Chelmsford himself recently and he's of firm interest dropping back to 6f. Bernie The Bear and Dream Together are another couple to note.
It may be worth siding with BERNIE THE BEAR whose record over C&D reads 123 and who is back off his last winning mark.

The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
Retirement Beckons had four of these behind when he struck at odds of 50/1 in a similar race here last Friday and is obviously dangerous to underestimate now he has broken his duck on the all-weather. Ana Emaraaty was just a length-and-a-quarter second in that race, so enters calculations based on a literal reading of the form. However, EVA ROSIE has shown improvement since being tried in classified stakes and, with first-time blinkers added, this could be a good time to catch the lightly-raced filly.
COPPER MOUNTAIN has had excuses since winning a similar event at Southwell, including when fourth behind Retirement Beckons and Ana Emaraaty over this C&D on Friday, so is worth another chance. With Retirement Beckons penalised this time, Ana Emaraaty may emerge as the main threat.
Jim Goldie's 4yo ANA EMARAATY enjoys a 4lb pull in the weights with Retirement Beckons and can gain a deserved breakthrough victory
Ths is the racecard key.
