![]() Walk On High |
(7) 8/13(+73%) | (7) Walk On High 8/13, Remains a maiden but he posted a good second of 14 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (16.5f, soft) 30 days ago. Solid claims. Good second to a progressive sort in handicap latest; big player back in a maiden. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Le Tiep's Sacre |
(10) 5/2(-33%) | (10) Le Tiep's Sacre 5/2, Fairly useful form in France for David Cottin in October. Changed hands for €150,000 and made a promising start here when third of six in 2m Sandown novice three weeks ago. The one to beat. Placed both runs in France and promising third on Sandown yard debut; likely more to come. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Long Walk |
(6) 9/2(+31%) | (6) The Long Walk 9/2, Fair form shown in bumpers, sixth of 10 at Windsor 46 days ago. No forlorn hope stepping up in trip for his hurdles debut. Has shown enough in bumpers to think he can make an impact over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bank On Frank |
(1) 7/1(-40%) | (1) Bank On Frank 7/1, Runner-up only start in points. Beaten 23 lengths or more in 3 novice hurdles this winter but caught the eye when third at Lingfield last time and there's likely a bigger performance in him. Beaten a long way in three hurdles but caught eye latest; capable of better at some point. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ask Peter |
(9) 25/1(-150%) | (9) Ask Peter 25/1, A fair 1m6f Flat winner for Charlie Johnston in 2023. Off 16 months but she still can't be ruled out now starting out over hurdles for new handler. Fair three-time Flat winner but off for 502 days ahead of hurdle debut; tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fravanco |
(4) 80/1(-60%) | (4) Fravanco 80/1, Fair winner at 12f on Flat but only ninth at Kempton (12f) 36 days ago. Still commands respect on his hurdles debut. AW Flat winner at a modest level and best watched on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Forlano |
(3) 100/1(-525%) | (3) Forlano 100/1, Placed at Kempton on second of the 4 bumpers that he contested but little impact otherwise, including on hurdles debut at Wincanton last month. Showed a bit in bumpers but well beaten switched to hurdles after long absence. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Flimsy Nosebag |
(2) 125/1(-213%) | (2) Flimsy Nosebag 125/1, Third in an Ascot bumper in November but he has failed to build on that in 2 subsequent starts, offering little on hurdles bow last time at Windsor where he was pulled up. Showed ability in bumpers but pulled up on Windsor hurdle debut in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Warfleet |
(8) 125/1(-213%) | (8) Warfleet 125/1, Fair form shown in a trio of bumpers, seventh of 8 for his new yard at Market Rasen 91 days ago. Possibilities now going hurdling. Runner-up on second of three bumper runs but form only modest; hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Saccary |
(5) 150/1(-275%) | (5) Saccary 150/1, A fairly useful 10f Flat winner but yet to match that form in two hurdling runs, fifth of 8 in novice at Uttoxeter (15.8f, soft) 40 days ago. Hooded for 1st time and may still do better. Quite useful on Flat but no show in two hurdles; hood added; best watched. |
Walk On High boasts a consistent level of form and is expected to be in the mix following his second at Taunton in handicap company last month. The vote, though, goes to LE TIEP'S SACRE with Gary and Josh Moore's juvenile likely to take a step forward from his UK debut when third at Sandown. The Long Walk displayed promise in a couple of bumpers earlier in the season and is interesting switching to timber.
LE TIEP'S SACRE shaped well starting out for Gary & Josh Moore when a recent third at Sandown and can build on it now to get off the mark. Walk On High rates much the biggest threat on the back of a good Taunton second with Bank On Frank also in the mix if, as expected, building on his Lingfield third last time out.
Walk On High's latest handicap second reads well but he's had a few chances and perhaps LE TIEP'S SACRE can improve past him.

![]() I See The Sea |
(1) 2/1(+64%) | (1) I See The Sea 2/1, Bettered hurdles form at first attempt over fences when third in C&D handicap in December. Has failed to build on that in 2 subsequent runs but his mark has dropped rapidly (now 9 lb lower than that encouraging chase debut effort here) and perhaps the first-time blinkers will give him a lift. Still unexposed over fences but he needs blinkers to make a big difference. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lightonthewing |
(4) 5/2(-25%) | (4) Lightonthewing 5/2, Won 3 times over fences last spring, including a C&D handicap, and left this season's chase form well behind when making all back hurdling at Chepstow (23.6f, heavy) last month. If in a similar mood returned to this sphere he will take some pegging back. Exploited lower hurdle mark at Chepstow last time and he's respected back over fences. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lock Out |
(2) 4/1(-20%) | (2) Lock Out 4/1, Firmly back on track when making a winning return in handicap chase at Chepstow in October. Rather in-and-out since but latest Hereford (25.2f, good to soft) second was up there with his best form and a reproduction of that would give him a serious chance. Back to form with bold bid at Hereford (3m1f) and has claims if he can back that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Celtic Fortune |
(3) 11/2(-38%) | (3) Celtic Fortune 11/2, Fair maiden hurdler who has made a positive start in this sphere, most notably finishing a good second over this C&D in December. Lack of resolution is clearly an issue (again didn't find much for pressure tried in blinkers at Huntingdon last time) but he shouldn't be far away. Cheekpieces refitted. Unexposed over fences and runner-up in his last two runs including over C&D; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Robinsville |
(6) 17/2(-31%) | (6) Robinsville 17/2, Maiden hurdler/chaser who boasts bit and pieces of decent form, not least when third of 14 off this mark at Taunton on penultimate start. However, he followed that with a disappointing display at the same course 16 days ago. Longstanding maiden who was disappointing at Taunton last time; others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hey Bud |
(7) 28/1(-12%) | (7) Hey Bud 28/1, Sole success came over hurdles back in 2019 and was again put in his place at Huntingdon when last seen in October. Sole win was over hurdles in 2019 and he can only be watched after another break. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bellamy's Grey |
(8) 40/1(+20%) | (8) Bellamy's Grey 40/1, Not the most reliable of types by any means and poor run of form continued when pulled up in the Chepstow handicap hurdle won by Lightonthewing. 13yo with a 1-37 strike-rate under rules and he's struggled in two hurdle runs this year. |
LIGHTONTHEWING, Lock Out and I See The Sea all pulled up in a similar contest at Exeter on New Year's Day, but the former put that well behind him when springing a surprise at Chepstow. Admittedly, that upturn in fortunes coincided with a return to hurdles, but Sue Gardner's 10-year-old boasts a good strike-rate in this sphere and can prove it was no fluke. Lock Out has also taken a step back in the right direction, hitting the crossbar at Hereford, although Celtic Fortune might be the biggest threat.
On the back of an all-the-way hurdles success at Chepstow, LIGHTONTHEWING may well follow up returned to the larger obstacles. He was successful over C&D on his sole previous chase start at this course last March and remains on a good mark. Lock Out has to be respected on the back of a good effort at Hereford and he is second choice ahead of Celtic Fortune and I See The Sea.
A few have possibilities but the vote goes to LOCK OUT, who returned to form with a bold bid at Hereford last month.

![]() Vaureal |
(9) 7/2(+42%) | (9) Vaureal 7/2, Fair chaser. 11/2, very good third of 9 in handicap chase at Fairyhouse (21f, soft) 49 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Colin Bowe. Well in the mix. Showed that his 109 handicap mark is just about right with Fairyhouse third, new yard now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Gabriel Ranger |
(5) 5/1(+17%) | (5) Gabriel Ranger 5/1, Promising individual. Winner in hurdle at Cork in August. Encouraging debut third over fences at Tramore in January. Switches from hurdles to chases and should progress. Considered. Takes a big step up in distance from a promising first chase start, seems trip-versatile. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Colonel Nelson |
(4) 5/1(+29%) | (4) Colonel Nelson 5/1, Fair chaser. 150/1, tenth of 15 in novice chase at this course (16f, good) on debut over fences 28 days ago. Back up in trip. Down the field over 2m on chasing debut, trainer has a stronger candidate in Spinning Web. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Beggars Rock |
(2) 11/2(-83%) | (2) Beggars Rock 11/2, Promising chasing debut third at Cork before scoring over hurdles at Limerick later in December. Visor replaces blinkers and big shout back over fences. Wide-margin handicap winner on penultimate hurdle start, good effort on sole chase outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Spinning Web |
(10) 11/2(-10%) | (10) Spinning Web 11/2, Fairly useful winner at 16f over hurdles. 22/1, excellent second of 13 in handicap chase at this course (16f, good) 28 days ago. Back up in trip. Can make his presence felt. Weak form in beginners' chases, found his level when second in a 2m handicap at this venue. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ballybrittas |
(1) 17/2(-21%) | (1) Ballybrittas 17/2, 1 win from 3 runs this season. Fair winner at 16f over hurdles. Fair sixth of 12 in handicap hurdle (16/1) at Leopardstown (19.8f, good) 67 days ago. Much respected on his chase debut. Two wins in points last season, maiden hurdle winner on good ground, likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Presenting Max |
(7) 9/1(+55%) | (7) Presenting Max 9/1, Fair hurdler. Respectable eighth of 16 in handicap hurdle (10/1) at Leopardstown (24f, good to soft) 3 days ago. Not ruled out starting over fences here. Midfield in a 3m hurdle at Leopardstown on Monday, hard to make a case for him. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() I Ballyadam Moon |
(6) 10/1(+17%) | (6) I Ballyadam Moon 10/1, Fair hurdler. 12/1, creditable third of 9 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (23f, soft) 14 days ago. Makes chase debut. One to consider. Three seconds in points, has shown improved form on his last two starts over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Flidais |
(11) 28/1(-12%) | (11) Flidais 28/1, Fair winner at 18f over hurdles. Only fifth of 7 in novice chase (100/1) at Clonmel (20f, heavy) on her debut over fences 7 days ago. Needs to take a step forward. 2-20 over hurdles, placed five times, remote fifth on last week's chasing debut at Clonmel. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Castlehill Boy |
(3) 100/1(-100%) | (3) Castlehill Boy 100/1, Modest hurdler. Remains a maiden after 16 NH runs. Seventh of 11 in handicap hurdle (12/1) at Clonmel (20f, soft) 50 days ago. Makes chase debut. No forlorn hope. Placed twice in bumpers, modest form over hurdles in recent seasons, no chasing experience. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ixigreczed |
(12) 100/1(-100%) | (12) Ixigreczed 100/1, Winner in hurdle at Kilbeggan in July. 14/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle there (22.8f, soft) 151 days ago. More required now going over fences. Struggled in the autumn after a 2m3f handicap hurdle win last July, chasing debut. |
BEGGARS ROCK was a touch unlucky on his chase debut at Cork back in December and may be able to strike back over the larger obstacles now. The Soldier Of Fortune gelding had just come to lead at the last in Cork when pecking on landing and eventually finishing a close third. He has won over hurdles since but was below par on his last outing over timber at Punchestown. Spinning Web only lost out by a head in handicap company last time and the 110-rated performer should have a big shout in a race confined to horses on that mark or less over hurdles. The 109 rated Vaureal is another for the shortlist.
BEGGARS ROCK has won over hurdles since his promising chasing debut third at Cork before Christmas so is fancied to add a first win in this sphere now. Spinning Web is feared most on the back of an excellent second here, although Gabriel Ranger and Vaureal can both have a say too.
Ian Donoghue scored with a recent recruit at Navan last Saturday and may repeat the feat with VAUREAL, placed in a handicap last time

![]() Broughshane |
(2) 7/4(+0%) | (2) Broughshane 7/4, A two-time hurdles winner this term but he came in a below-par third of 5 in handicap at Carlisle (19.3f, good to soft) 17 days ago. Still much respected on his chase debut. Dual hurdle winner including at this track; needs close look on his chase debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Royal Mer |
(4) 7/2(+0%) | (4) Royal Mer 7/2, Notched 5 wins over fences in 2023/24. Yet to score this term but he posted a good second of 6 in 2m4f Lingfield handicap chase 23 days ago. Weighted to go close off a 2 lb lower mark. On dangerous mark and was a runner-up behind a big improver at Lingfield; possibilities. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Diplomatic Ash |
(6) 4/1(+67%) | (6) Diplomatic Ash 4/1, Unreliable type who was pulled up in handicap chase at Plumpton (17f, soft) 38 days ago. Moody sort who is best opposed. Nine-race maiden and he was pulled up at Plumpton last time; others are more convincing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Alto Alto |
(3) 5/1(-25%) | (3) Alto Alto 5/1, Visored for 1st time when resuming winning ways in 5-runner handicap chase at Plumpton (17f, soft) 24 days ago. Not taken lightly despite a 4 lb rise. Turned things around when making all at Plumpton (2m1f) recently; solid chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Doyouknowwhatimean |
(5) 10/1(-11%) | (5) Doyouknowwhatimean 10/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time when a respectable fourth of 9 in handicap chase at Southwell (20.4f, soft) 17 days ago. Shortlisted with the headgear retained. Not been at his best this winter and he needs to find more; stablemate of Next Left. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Next Left |
(1) 16/1(-113%) | (1) Next Left 16/1, Took well to fences in the first half of this season, winning (over 20f) at Warwick and Worcester. Shaped as if the run was needed after 4 months off when fourth of 5 at Huntingdon two weeks ago. A likely contender with that run under his belt. Had excuse back at 2m on recent return and he still has potential as a chaser; in the mix. |
BROUGHSHANE was progressive in the early part of the season over hurdles, winning two of his three starts, before disappointing when returning from a break at Carlisle. Bred to improve for a switch to fences, the seven-year-old gets the vote. Next Left found a drop in trip on the sharp side at Huntingdon and is expected to go better on this occasion. Royal Mer completes the shortlist.
ROYAL MER signalled he is ready to go in again when a clear second at Lingfield last time out so is fancied to capitalise on a 2 lb lower mark here. Next Left should be all the better for a recent Huntingdon fourth after a lay-off and is next on the list ahead of Broughshane and Alto Alto.
The vote goes to BROUGHSHANE, who was generally progressive over hurdles and could have a good future at this new discipline.

![]() Miss Altea Blue |
(13) 4/5(+12%) | (13) Miss Altea Blue 4/5, Fairly useful form when runner-up twice in France last year. Not close to that level when fifth in a Newton Abbot juvenile for new yard in November but could prove a different proposition back from a break with a tongue tie refitted. Twice runner-up in France; in top hands and she's one to consider now back down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Blacksamssenorita |
(1) 10/3(+17%) | (1) Blacksamssenorita 10/3, Promise on first of 3 starts in bumpers and fair form when placed on both starts over hurdles, latterly second of 9 in 2m Taunton maiden (soft) 16 days ago. Another prominent showing is likely. Runner-up at Taunton on second hurdle start and holds leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Morning Air |
(11) 13/2(-63%) | (11) Morning Air 13/2, Fairly useful Flat winner in the mud in France and made a successful hurdle debut in the mud at Leicester in December. Weakened quite tamely when a well-held fifth at Doncaster 8 weeks later but it's still early days. Well beaten in Listed 4yo fillies' hurdle latest but retains potential back down in grade. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() D Day Arvalenreeva |
(4) 9/1(+50%) | (4) D Day Arvalenreeva 9/1, Fair handicapper on Flat. Showed an aptitude for hurdling when fourth in a Uttoxeter mares' novice (2m, heavy) last month but the form is barely modest. Soundly beaten fourth on hurdle debut but the better ground could help this Flat winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Somethingtosomeone |
(10) 10/1(+17%) | (10) Somethingtosomeone 10/1, Point runner-up. Beaten 22 lengths when third on C&D hurdle debut in November but set to better that form when falling 2 out at Exeter in January. Place claims. Running well when unseating two out at Exeter in January and could have a part to play. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Seas The Day |
(8) 20/1(-43%) | (8) Seas The Day 20/1, Shaped well when runner-up both starts in bumpers last season. That makes her hurdles exploits to date a little disappointing but she remains likely to do better at some point. Runner-up in both bumpers but she's yet to shine over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dawn's Desire |
(3) 66/1(0%) | (3) Dawn's Desire 66/1, Struggling when falling 4 out in Taunton mares' novice hurdle on debut. Under pressure in the rear when falling four out on last month's debut at Taunton (40-1). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Getaways Gift |
(5) 125/1(-681%) | (5) Getaways Gift 125/1, Runner-up on the second of 3 outings in bumpers last spring but achieved little when a distant last of 4 on recent Bangor hurdle debut after 10 months off. A tongue tie worn then is quickly discarded. Runner-up in one of her bumpers but tailed off on last week's hurdle debut at Bangor. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Seventeenothree |
(9) 125/1(-150%) | (9) Seventeenothree 125/1, Made the frame in 2 bumpers in January but always behind on C&D hurdle debut 19 days ago. Made the frame in both bumpers but tailed off over C&D on last month's hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() L'inoubliable |
(12) 150/1(0%) | (12) L'inoubliable 150/1, No promise in 2 starts last month. Triple-figure odds on both starts and hasn't shown much; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kupka Vallis |
(6) 150/1(-88%) | (6) Kupka Vallis 150/1, Only minor promise in 2 novice hurdles this year, set to finish a remote third when unseating 2 out at Lingfield (2m, heavy) latterly. Looks more one for handicaps. Hasn't shown enough on her two starts to suggest she'll pose a threat today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Melleray Hill |
(7) 150/1(-88%) | (7) Melleray Hill 150/1, Successful on second of 2 point starts in 2023 but made no impact in 2 hurdles in recent months. Point winner but soundly beaten on first two hurdle starts, following a long absence. |
Paul Nicholls threw MISS ALTEA BLUE in at the deep end on her first start after arriving from France and she had to settle for a well-beaten fifth in a Newbury Listed affair. The four-year-old has been given plenty of time to recover from that British debut and can get back on track. Fellow juvenile Morning Air came up short at the same level at Doncaster, but her previous Leicester victory is evidence that she should be competitive in this lesser company. Blacksamssenorita is the pick of the older mares.
MISS ALTEA BLUE has a tongue strap refitted back from a break and is given another chance to get close to her French form, which would likely be more than good enough to come out on top here. Blacksamssenorita is second choice ahead of Somethingtosomeone.
Somethingtosomeone was running well when falling two out at Exeter, but Taunton runner-up BLACKSAMSSENORITA is taken go one better.

![]() Magic Sadler |
(6) 11/8(+50%) | (6) Magic Sadler 11/8, Fair hurdler for Ciaran Murphy. Had Fountain House 8 lengths back in fourth when a promising second on his Clonmel hunter debut in January. Has won in the pointing field since. Leading claims with improvement likely. Had Fountain House 8l behind when second at Clonmel, followed that with a second point win. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fountain House |
(4) 3/1(+25%) | (4) Fountain House 3/1, Multiple point winner, including last 4 starts in that sphere. Creditable fourth of 14 in Clonmel maiden hunter in January, although Magic Sadler holds him on that form. Should go well. Four from four in points this term but has 8l to find with Magic Sadler on Clonmel running. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Welcome Back |
(11) 11/2(-120%) | (11) Welcome Back 11/2, Third in a Navan juvenile hurdle a year ago and returned to win a point under Harry Swan in January. One of 2 likely types in this for his top yard. Promising run in a maiden hurdle last year, maiden winner on first point outing, contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Last Round |
(5) 7/1(-40%) | (5) Last Round 7/1, Promise when third on Navan hurdle debut last March. First and third in points on return this year and very interesting hunter chase debutant for his top stable. Maiden point winner in January, failed to back that up last time, top rider booked. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Arthor |
(1) 11/1(+73%) | (1) Arthor 11/1, Modest maiden under Rules. Has won a point this year but others preferred on hunter debut. 0-17 over hurdles, point winner on penultimate start, others have stronger credentials. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Well Buoy |
(10) 12/1(-20%) | (10) Well Buoy 12/1, Won a point in November but pulled up in that sphere next time and always behind in a Punchestown cross country event for Enda Bolger last month. Point winner, struggled over Punchestown cross-country course on latest, respected here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Asphalt Cowboy |
(3) 20/1(-25%) | (3) Asphalt Cowboy 20/1, Dual winning pointer, third last time (Feb 22). Newcomer to the hunter ranks. Would enter the reckoning if the betting speaks in his favour. 2-10 in points, held by Fountain House on running at Punchestown 12 days ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ask Mike |
(2) 22/1(+12%) | (2) Ask Mike 22/1, Point winner but no significant impact in a couple of hunters last winter. Pulled up in a point when last seen in November. Fitted which cheekpieces. Others are much more obvious. Needs to step up on the form he has shown in this grade, pulled up in a point in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mohera Prince |
(8) 66/1(-230%) | (8) Mohera Prince 66/1, Got off the mark in points at the weekend but it was his tenth start in that sphere so he hardly strikes as an obvious one to make a winning start to his hunter career turned out again quickly. Maiden winner at Kildorrery last Saturday on ninth start, a lot more on his plate now. |

![]() Mellow Glory |
(7) 125/1(-56%) | (7) Mellow Glory 125/1, Well held in a Listowel hunter last June and recent point exploits don't suggest he's likely to fare much better here. Yet to reach the first three in points, remote fifth behind Last Round at Tinahely. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ta Se Rua |
(9) 150/1(-50%) | (9) Ta Se Rua 150/1, Modest chaser. 50/1, twelfth of 16 in handicap chase at Tramore (21.8f, good to soft) last June. Held in fourth when falling last on point return 25 days ago. Veteran has won only one of his 17 starts in points, likely to struggle in this company. |
The Gordon Elliott-trained WELCOME BACK has already shown strong 'track' form and could prove the one to beat here. The Getaway gelding was third in a Navan maiden hurdle just over a year ago and justified favourtism in a Tinahely maiden in January. He was probably value for a bit more than the winning margin then having made a mistake at the last. Magic Sadler looks the likely danger after a convincing win in a 'winners of one' at Bellharbour early last month. He had one of today's rivals, Fountain House, behind in fourth when chasing home Milan Forth in a Clonmel hunter chase back in January.
MAGIC SADLER has won a point since shaping well on his Clonmel hunter debut and is the one to beat unless the market vibes are notably strong surrounding Gordon Elliott hunter chase newcomers Welcome Back and/or Last Round. The shortlist is completed by Fountain House, who was a couple of places behind the selection at Clonmel.
Pat Doyle's runner MAGIC SADLER won a point-to-point last month and may confirm previous hunter chase form with Fountain House

![]() Miss Goldfire |
(1) 2/1(+20%) | (1) Miss Goldfire 2/1, Bumper winner on debut has progressed for the move into handicaps, proved she stays this trip when second of 10 in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (25f, soft) 28 days ago. 6-y-o doesn't have many miles on the clock, and she is one of the more likely winners in this contest. Runner-up in her last two handicaps, including when upped to 3m1f last time; key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tuscan Rose |
(5) 10/3(+26%) | (5) Tuscan Rose 10/3, Finished last term with success at Taunton and carried that form into this season, only finding one too good in her first couple of starts, shaping as though she would improve for staying distances. Forgiven latest run (pulled up, found to be in season) and better expected in first-time cheekpieces. Pulled up when favourite at Huntingdon but has claims if she can bounce back; headgear on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Pipers Cross |
(2) 7/2(-40%) | (2) Pipers Cross 7/2, Dual winner in the spring of 2024 for Robbie Llewellyn and despite not getting her head in front since, she has matched that form for current connections. Shaped as if still in good form when third at Chepstow (23.6f) last month and she's one to be interested in stepping back up in distance. Dual hurdle winner who stays well and has finished third in her last three runs; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Happy Returns |
(7) 5/1(+9%) | (7) Happy Returns 5/1, Made the frame all 4 completed starts in handicaps in 2023 and showed enough after 19-month absence to suggest she retains that ability when fourth of 9 at Hereford (21.7f), not given a hard time once chance had gone. Yard has two runners in this and worth noting how the market rates her chances. 0-10 but she showed promise on recent comeback and could be dangerous back up in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Barra Blue |
(4) 10/1(-54%) | (4) Barra Blue 10/1, Won a notably weak race on handicap debut at Leicester (20.5f, heavy) in December but has struggled in subsequent starts. Handicapper has given her a chance though and her reduced mark and a step up in trip may bring about a return to form. Won at Leicester (2m4f) in December but she's been disappointing since; something to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lyness Dancer |
(6) 20/1(-11%) | (6) Lyness Dancer 20/1, Behind both starts in point bumpers and it has been a similar story under Rules, well-beaten in a bumper and qualifying runs. Needs to improve for this longer trip and step into handicap company. Has stamina on dam's side and now switches to a staying handicap but she needs improvement. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ramalamadingdong |
(3) 22/1(-57%) | (3) Ramalamadingdong 22/1, Well held in bumper on debut and just modest form in qualifying runs over hurdles. Longer trip needs to bring about improvement, but she's one to note in the betting on handicap debut. Unexposed handicap newcomer but she needs a transformation upped in trip. |
MISS GOLDFIRE stayed on well to finish second on her first attempt beyond 3m at Huntingdon latest and the six-year-old may well have more to offer in her attempt to gain a first success over timber. Tuscan Rose was pulled up in the aforementioned contest when sent off favourite and she is worth another chance in first-time cheekpieces. Ramalamadingdong and Pipers Cross head the remainder.
This could prove tactical, with no obvious pace on paper. Having proved she stays this far when second at Huntingdon last month, MISS GOLDFIRE may be ridden more aggressively and she is marginally preferred to Pipers Cross who also arrives in good heart but equally wouldn't want this to be a crawl, with stamina her strong suit. Tuscan Rose is forgiven her latest below-par effort and remains of interest now tackling this longer trip in first-time cheekpieces.
Top of the list is MISS GOLDFIRE, who has finished second in her last two runs and should have more to offer at staying trips.

![]() Paddy In The Caddy |
(1) 5/4(+64%) | (1) Paddy In The Caddy 5/4, Has advanced his form switched to fences this winter, making all at Warwick and Hereford in November. Placed both subsequent starts, including when third to a couple of in-form rivals over 2½m here on Boxing Day, and this drop back in trip looks a good move. In good form at end of last year; stretched by 2m4f here last time; firmly in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dunstall Rambler |
(3) 5/2(+9%) | (3) Dunstall Rambler 5/2, Finally got off the mark in 8-runner C&D handicap chase in December and added to that at Ludlow (2m, good to soft) where his jumping looked more assured than is often the case. Up 4 lb and he looks vulnerable. Can make mistakes but he's won his last two and has to be respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Universal Secret |
(5) 10/3(+79%) | (5) Universal Secret 10/3, Modest winning hurdler who posted by far his best effort yet in this sphere when runner-up in a 15.7f Wincanton handicap last month. No surprise that he struggled from a long way out of the weights in stronger handicap at Sandown since but this looks more realistic. Mission impossible at Sandown last time; good C&D second previously; in with a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Centara |
(2) 11/2(-57%) | (2) Centara 11/2, Bumper winner who scored twice over hurdles last season, ending the campaign with success in a Taunton handicap in April. Well held both starts this time round but still has low mileage and it'll be interesting to see how he shapes up in the betting ahead of this chase debut. In top hands but has struggled on both hurdle starts this term; major turnaround needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fox Wallace |
(6) 80/1(+20%) | (6) Fox Wallace 80/1, No sign of ability to date and she's very hard to warm to from 19 lb out of the handicap. She's achieved very little and has been pulled up on four of her last five starts. |
Dunstall Rambler accounted for Universal Secret over C&D before supplementing that triumph with another victory at Ludlow. Before that brace, though, he was beaten 10 lengths into fifth by PADDY IN THE CADDY at Hereford and Philip Hobbs & Johnson White's six-year-old, who has held his form well since, can confirm that superiority on only 4lb worse terms. Siam Park made a pleasing introduction to fences when runner-up at Taunton and there should be more to come from him.
SIAM PARK is bred to make a better chaser and that already appears to be the case judged on his solid second on debut in this sphere at Taunton where he pulled nicely clear of the rest with the winner. He should prove a tough nut to crack with improvement on the cards. Paddy In The Caddy is holding his form well and should give another good account, while Centara needs to get back on track now switched to fences but it's by no means impossible that he'll do just that.
The 6yo PADDY IN THE CADDY won twice over 2m in November and can return to winning ways now back down in trip.

Leading claims with further improvement on the cards. Ran in Romeo Coolio's bumper on debut; good second on return at Clonmel; warrants respect. |

![]() Love At Sea |
(5) 16/5(+51%) | (5) Love At Sea 16/5, Winner in bumper at Sligo in August. 4/1, good third of 14 in maiden hurdle at Punchestown (19.4f, soft) 31 days ago. Each-way claims. Fifth in Listed mares' hurdle (2m, good) at this course before solid third latest; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Joueuse Royale |
(13) 16/5(+29%) | (13) Joueuse Royale 16/5, Well-backed 13/8, ran to a similar level as on hurdling debut when fourth of 15 in maiden at Ballinrobe (17.9f, good) 6 months ago. Yard starting to click into gear and she should improve. Good efforts under rules but probably needs a big step up in trip to be seen at her best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Nowwhatdoyouthink |
(4) 8/1(+68%) | (4) Nowwhatdoyouthink 8/1, Won bumper at Cork on second start but has been soundly beaten since including in 3 maiden hurdles, though shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests after 4 months off at Punchestown last time. Handicaps further down the line may unlock some improvement. Won a point and bumper on testing ground but has been well beaten in three maiden hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mon Coeur |
(3) 9/1(-29%) | (3) Mon Coeur 9/1, Useful winner at 12f on Flat. Back on track when fifth of 16 in handicap at Naas (16.1f, heavy, 18/1) when last seen 16 months ago. Switches from Flat to hurdles, showed promise on hurdling debut at Punchestown back in January 2023. Has run well over hurdles in the past and Danny Mullins booked so worth a market check. |

![]() Cappa Hill |
(6) 16/1(-14%) | (6) Cappa Hill 16/1, In frame on completed starts in points. Tongue strap on, ran to a fair level sent hurdling when fourth of 11 in maiden at Cork (16.9f, soft, 16/1) on NH debut 48 days ago. Ran well when fourth in Cork maiden hurdle over 2m1f on rules debut; each-way contender. |

(1) 16/1(-100%) | (1) Dunkerque 16/1, Fairly useful Flat winner. Won 9-runner minor event at Klampenborg (11.9f) 19 months ago for Soren Jensen. Needs to hit the ground running now hurdling for his new handler but that's possible. Danish-bred gelding won over 1m4f on the Flat at Klampenborg in Denmark; watch market. |

One-time 95,000euros foal purchase is set to make his debut at seven; market will guide. |

(7) 125/1(-150%) | (7) Light On His Feet 125/1, 7/1, eleventh of 12 in bumper at Killarney (17f, good to soft) on debut when last seen 9 months ago. Makes hurdles debut. Failed to live up to expectations (7-1 SP) when tailed off in Killarney bumper last May. |

![]() Thoughtsarethings |
(10) 200/1(-100%) | (10) Thoughtsarethings 200/1, Tailed off in bumper/maiden hurdle. Never sighted on Punchestown bumper debut and ran to similar level over hurdles at Tramore. |

![]() Kates Choice |
(14) 200/1(-150%) | (14) Kates Choice 200/1, Little impact in 2 bumpers 6 months apart. Makes hurdles debut following a further 3 months off. Didn't go unbacked on Wexford debut, never landing a meaningful blow; regressed next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Glin Road Dream |
(19) 250/1(-1150%) | (19) Glin Road Dream 250/1, Tailed off in 2 maiden hurdles. RESERVE. Always in rear in pair of maiden hurdles but worth a market check for shrewd yard; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cash Chase |
(12) 300/1(-50%) | (12) Cash Chase 300/1, Tailed off in bumper/maiden hurdle 8 months apart. Well beaten in pair of bumpers at Cork and Limerick; readily passed over on this occasion. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Thefarmersdaughter |
(15) 300/1(-50%) | (15) Thefarmersdaughter 300/1, No show in bumper/maiden hurdle at Limerick. Tailed off on debut in Limerick bumper and pulled up at that track over hurdles in January. |
Not the strongest maiden hurdle and YORADREAMER looks like the obvious one to beat. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding was no match for Addragoole on his hurdling debut at Clonmel last month but it was a solid effort in second and with natural improvement he should prove hard to beat now. He had Mister Box back in fourth then and can confirm those placings. Joueuse Royale had a couple of nice runs over timber last summer/autumn. The form of her hurdling debut, when third to Expound at Tramore, has worked out fairly well.
Only a handful of these make any serious appeal and it's YORADREAMER who gets the nod to go one better than his recent hurdling debut with improvement on the cards. Henry de Bromhead's string are starting to click into gear and Joueuse Royale can give the selection most to think about returning from 6 months off, with Mister Box and Love At Sea taken to fight out minor honours.
LOVE AT SEA was a wide-margin winner of a Sligo bumper and ran well in Listed company around here in December

![]() What's One More |
(6) 10/3(+17%) | (6) What's One More 10/3, Having often raced keenly (including when landing a bumper last season) connections have taken their time with this mare and she did settle better when fourth in a decent race for the grade (winner entered in Saturday's Imperial Cup) last time. She could be an improver if relaxing over longer trip. Promise when fourth on 2m Huntingdon handicap debut and could be more to come at this trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Decorated |
(7) 4/1(+64%) | (7) Decorated 4/1, Disappointing over hurdles last season/fences this season. Handicap mark has plummeted which prompted a slightly more encouraging effort when fourth of 12 at Chepstow (19.4f, heavy) last month. Fairly handicapped and the question is whether he can build on that effort under different conditions. Better signs back hurdling latest and his yard won the race last year; not discounted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Our Dylan |
(4) 11/2(-38%) | (4) Our Dylan 11/2, Consistent type has been steadily progressive since the end of last season, again performing with credit when only bettered by an improver last month (Taunton, 19f). Races off a career high mark but not ruled out in his current form. Back to winning ways at Exeter in December; another good run when second latest; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tea And Chats |
(8) 6/1(+45%) | (8) Tea And Chats 6/1, Still a maiden but has shown enough promise in handicaps to suggest he is capable off this sort of mark. Was given a very considerate return to action following a 10-month absence last time and could be open to improvement on the back of that effort. Interesting and one to note in the betting. Remote fourth on Wincanton reappearance 19 days ago and needs to have come a lot. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Activist |
(2) 9/1(-6%) | (2) Activist 9/1, Returned to form with winning reappearance (Leicester 15.5f) but hasn't been able to get his head in front from higher marks since, despite performing with some credit. Tried in first-time visor and while he should run his race again, he's still a couple of pounds above his last winning mark. Only one good run since Leicester win in November but claims if new headgear works. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Low Expectations |
(10) 12/1(+25%) | (10) Low Expectations 12/1, Promising third of 11 in a Downpatrick bumper for Paul Nolan in September but comfortably held in novice hurdles for Nick Gifford in recent months. Improvement required on handicap hurdle debut. Well held in three novice hurdles but this bumper third could fare better in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Copper Cove |
(5) 12/1(-41%) | (5) Copper Cove 12/1, Course winner (17.7f, heavy) last season and having needed his reappearance, did way too much too soon when down the field at Lingfield 23 days ago, shaping better than the beaten distance suggests. Both wins have been on more testing ground but might be seen to better effect for this longer trip. Below par both runs this winter but this course winner is well treated if staging revival. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Soigneux Bell |
(1) 16/1(-167%) | (1) Soigneux Bell 16/1, Flat winner in France who readily landed juvenile hurdle at this venue in December 2023 before disappointing the following month. Needed the run after 13 months off when well-held at Sandown 3 weeks ago. Should come on for that but connections quick to reach for headgear (tongue-tie/cheekpieces). Course winner; shaped as if needing run on recent return; headgear added; check betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kingston Bresil |
(3) 22/1(-57%) | (3) Kingston Bresil 22/1, Best effort in final qualifying run when third of 12 in novice hurdle at Plumpton (15.9f, good to soft), although was well-positioned in how the race unfolded. Makes handicap debut with little room for error from his opening mark. Improved third in Plumpton novice latest and could be even more to come in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Little Lady Lucy |
(11) 50/1(-400%) | (11) Little Lady Lucy 50/1, Fair on Flat for Joseph O'Brien but well-beaten in 3 juvenile hurdles for current yard. Did offer minor promise on handicap debut when fourth of 6 at Plumpton (15.9f), although never looked like winning. Races from 5 lb out of handicap and needs to take another step forward for this longer trip. Flat winner but yet to better poor form over hurdles, including fourth on handicap debut. |
Our Dylan was only beaten half a length over this trip at Taunton and he has an obvious chance off just 2lb higher, but WHAT'S ONE MORE shades the verdict for both a trainer and jockey going great guns at present. The six-year-old caught the eye when a staying-on fourth on her handicap debut over 2m at Huntingdon and this extra distance could unlock the improvement required to open her hurdles account. A further 2lb drop in the ratings gives Decorated an each-way chance at least.
Lightly-raced WHAT'S ONE MORE settled better when fourth in a higher grade last time and granted a fair pace to aim at on this occasion, there could be more improvement to come over this longer trip. Forgiven his latest effort, Copper Cove may be seen to better effect now back up in distance while Decorated and Tea and Chats both look fairly treated if they can put it all together.
The longer trip could suit WHAT'S ONE MORE, who is given a chance to build on a promising first run in handicap company at Huntingdon.

![]() Regent's Stroll |
(1) 1/5(+20%) | (1) Regent's Stroll 1/5, Useful bumper winner who changed hands for £660,000 before scoring impressively on his hurdling debut at Newbury in November. Advanced his form when fourth in the Challow there next time and ran to a similar level when second in Exeter listed event latest. Sets a high standard. Beaten favourite the last twice but in Grade 1/Listed; stand-out form claims today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Sainted Canary |
(2) 7/1(-40%) | (2) The Sainted Canary 7/1, Fair bumper performer who improved to justify short odds second time up over hurdles in 14-runner maiden here (15.2f, soft) 19 days ago, responding well. More to come over this longer trip but lowering the colours of Regent's Stroll won't be easy. Lots to find with Regent's Stroll but this course winner can give another good account. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Italian Fox |
(4) 20/1(-67%) | (4) The Italian Fox 20/1, £25,000 3-y-o, Milan gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fair hurdler/useful chaser (stayed 21f) Queen Jane. In good hands and market could guide on debut. Trainer enjoying excellent season and this newcomer is not ruled out each-way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Thankyouandplease |
(3) 50/1(-257%) | (3) Thankyouandplease 50/1, €42,000 3-y-o, Authorized gelding. Dam twice-raced over hurdles in France. Runner-up completed start in Irish points (Jan 19). 10l runner-up in a point in January; tough assignment on rules debut; best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kantagua Du Large |
(6) 66/1(-32%) | (6) Kantagua Du Large 66/1, Showed fairly useful form when winning a 4-y-o chase (in cheekpieces) in France, but offered little reverted to hurdles for her British debut after 11 months off at Warwick in January. Needs to leave that well behind. French chase winner who may have needed the run on British debut; not ruled out each-way. |
REGENT'S STROLL was a disappointing favourite when only fourth in the Challow at Newbury prior to his runner-up effort in Listed company at Exeter last month. However, each of those pieces of form stand out in this contest and he sets a very high standard with a rating of 134. The Sainted Canary improved on his debut fifth in this sphere when scoring over 1m7f here last time and he could have more to offer, with this step up in trip a possible source of improvement. Kantagua Du Large looks next best.
REGENT'S STROLL has already shown himself to be a useful novice and can make the most of what looks a gold-plated opportunity. The Sainted Canary should have more to offer now stepping up in trip and is preferred to newcomer The Italian Fox for the forecast spot.
This is an excellent opportunity for REGENT'S STROLL to return to winning ways. The Sainted Canary can be best of the rest.

(6) 9/1(+55%) | (6) Turbo 9/1, Hit and miss this season, including a moderate effort over hurdles. Latest fifth of 13 in handicap chase at this course (16f, good) 28 days ago. Improvement needed back over smaller obstacles. Handles decent ground and is running from a nice mark returning to hurdling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tudor Manor |
(1) 10/1(-67%) | (1) Tudor Manor 10/1, Showed some promise as a hurdler, placing in a novice hurdle, before being let down by his jumping on when falling on last start in this sphere. In good heart on the Flat over the winter, latest second of 11 in handicap at Dundalk (12f) Makes appeal back in this code on handicap hurdle debut. Fell last two hurdle starts but looks well treated on his handicap bow in this sphere. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Onebrightbluerose |
(12) 12/1(+52%) | (12) Onebrightbluerose 12/1, Latest hurdles effort a respectable eighth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (16f, good to soft) before being well-held on chase debut. Returns to smaller obstacles with first-time visor, which needs to spark some improvement. Has been out of form over timber of late and ran a poor race on her chase bow; visored. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Silent Selector |
(8) 16/1(+36%) | (8) Silent Selector 16/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Keen when 250/1, tenth of 14 in novice hurdle at Punchestown (19.4f, soft) 103 days ago. Makes handicap hurdle debut and may do better if ready to roll after absence. Well beaten in trio of maiden hurdles but latest one was very strong; entitled to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dontdooddson |
(15) 18/1(+10%) | (15) Dontdooddson 18/1, Bit below form eighth of 14 in handicap hurdle (18/1) at Cork (16.2f, soft) 83 days ago. Veteran performer may be vulnerable to improving types. 1-17 over hurdles; not the most consistent sort and shoving on in years; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Navy Waves |
(13) 20/1(-67%) | (13) Navy Waves 20/1, C&D winner arrives in good heart, 13/2, third of 15 in handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan (24.4f, good to soft). Off 8 months. Significantly back down in trip but place claims. Maiden hurdle winner over C&D in 2022; 262-day break to overcome but has a chance here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Silent Dawn |
(5) 22/1(+56%) | (5) Silent Dawn 22/1, Fared no better than disappointing handicap bow (after 4 months off) when eighth of 15 in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (17.2f, good to soft) 70 days ago. Tongue strap back on but others more convincing. 3rd in bunched finish to 2m3f maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan in May; has shown nothing since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rene Artois |
(16) 25/1(+24%) | (16) Rene Artois 25/1, Ran poorly latest start over hurdles and recent spin on the Flat didn't inspire much confidence. Needs more. Dual-purpose maiden was twice runner-up on the AW as a 2yo but has been regressive since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ricky Langford |
(4) 40/1(-21%) | (4) Ricky Langford 40/1, Moody sort. 33/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Naas (16f, good to soft) 80 days ago. Switches from chase to hurdles with cheekpieces back on but others preferred. No impact off higher marks of late and was pulled up at Naas in December; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Tasmanian Girl |
(14) 40/1(+20%) | (14) Tasmanian Girl 40/1, Well-beaten on latest efforts in both codes and has a bit to prove at present. Weak form but showed potential for success when runner-up over C&D off 81 in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Notevenatext |
(17) 50/1(-100%) | (17) Notevenatext 50/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 250/1, pulled up in novice hurdle at Limerick (16f, heavy) 37 days ago, pulled up 2 out. Makes handicap hurdle debut with plenty to prove. RESERVE Triple-figure odds and beaten long distances in all five starts under rules; reserve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lacken Forest |
(11) 100/1(-150%) | (11) Lacken Forest 100/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 66/1, 28¾ lengths fourteenth of 15 to Kp's Ladyofknock in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (16.4f, soft) 93 days ago. Others more convincing. Showed very little in 3 maiden hurdle starts & no better on his handicap debut at Clonmel. |
COWPER HALL catches the eye here on his first outing for Gavin Cromwell. He ran a nice race when third on his handicap debut at Down Royal for previous connections and the Affinisea gelding has been snapped up since. Kp's Ladyofknock could be the danger. She hasn't enjoyed the best of luck in races since winning at Clonmel in December. She was carried out at Fairyhouse subsequently and wasn't helped by a loose horse last time when third in Down Royal. She may be able to turn the tables now on Prince Quattro, who won that race at Down Royal and went up 8lb.
Fairly useful on the Flat in France, LE BUGISTE looks to be finding his feet over hurdles for Gavin Cromwell. He receives a healthy pull at the weights that may help him turn the tables on Prince Quattro, who benefitted from a shrewd front-running ride to win at Down Royal and may face more competition for the lead on this occasion. Cromwell also has a live chance with stable debutante Cowper Hall and it may be significant if the market speaks heavily in favour of one of his runners.
Philip Rothwell is having another great season & PRINCE QUATTRO can back up his Down Royal victory despite carrying a career-high mark

![]() Demoiselle Kap |
(2) 11/8(-10%) | (2) Demoiselle Kap 11/8, Back to her best when winning handicap hurdle at Sedgefield on stable debut last month and, making her first chase start in Britain, followed up at Newcastle (16.3f, good to soft) 8 days later. Scored easily last time and she's a leading contender. Ready winner of hurdle/chase for new yard last month and can complete the hat-trick. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Royal King |
(3) 7/4(+50%) | (3) Royal King 7/4, Fair form over fences in France and, having shown encouragement starting off over hurdles for current yard, ran well when second of 5 in handicap chase at Huntingdon (16.5f, good to soft) 2 weeks ago. Respected with cheekpieces back on. Beaten favourite in chase at Huntingdon but shaped okay in second; thereabouts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Koenigsstern |
(1) 9/2(+18%) | (1) Koenigsstern 9/2, Dual winning pointer who opened his chase account at the third attempt in handicap at this C&D (soft) on Boxing Day. Well-beaten fourth of 10 at Huntingdon (16.5f, soft) 6 weeks ago, but he's not ruled out with cheekpieces added back at this venue. Well-held fourth latest but won over C&D prior to that; can bounce back in cheekpieces. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Jolyjump |
(4) 9/1(-13%) | (4) Jolyjump 9/1, Made second start over fences a winning one in handicap at Southwell in November. Not in the same form in 2 subsequent outings, off 10 weeks before pulled up at Plumpton (17f, soft) last time, but he could fare better with his recent run behind him. Won in good style at Southwell in November but not so good twice since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Pleasure Garden |
(7) 22/1(+45%) | (7) Pleasure Garden 22/1, Fair winner on the Flat and made a successful chasing debut in handicap at Plumpton in April 2023. Made the frame both starts last season, but went backwards from return when well held at Huntingdon last time. Has work to do from out of the weights. Hasn't shown enough in two runs back from long absence to be positive from out of handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Constant Friday |
(5) 25/1(+24%) | (5) Constant Friday 25/1, Off the mark in handicap hurdle at Plumpton (20.5f) in April 2022. However, after an absence of nearly 3 years he hasn't offered much in 2 starts this season, making his chasing debut when well-beaten fourth of 6 at Wincanton (20.2f, soft) 19 days ago. Won hurdle in April 2022 but no promise in hurdle/chase back from long absence. |
DEMOISELLE KAP is two from two since joining the Jennie Candlish stable, scoring with any amount in hand over hurdles and fences at Sedgefield and Newcastle respectively. Although 11lb higher, she remains open to greater improvement and is fancied to complete the hat-trick. Royal King lines up off the same mark as when chasing home Teddy Blue at Huntingdon and he could ask most questions, ahead of Koenigsstern. The top-weight returns to a track he likes with first-time cheekpieces added.
DEMOISELLE KAP made it 2 from 2 for Jennie Candlish when scoring easily at Newcastle 3 weeks ago, jumping accurately making her first chase start in Britain, and she can land the hat-trick in her current form. The main danger could be Royal King, who showed fair form in France and shaped encouragingly back over fences last time, ahead of Smart Casual.
Even an 11lb rise doesn't look enough to stop DEMOISELLE KAP (nap), so much did she have in hand on her first two starts for new yard.

![]() Saladins Son |
(4) 1/1(+17%) | (4) Saladins Son 1/1, Successful in Huntingdon maiden hurdle on return/stable debut in November and quickly dispelled his chase debut non-completion when running out a good winner of a C&D handicap 19 days ago, making most and just kept up to his work late on. Appeals as a young stayer to keep on side. Won by 6l over C&D on second chase start and a 5lb rise may not stop this unexposed 7yo. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Regatta De Blanc |
(1) 5/2(+44%) | (1) Regatta De Blanc 5/2, Dual chase winner who proved easy to back and checked out tamely when pulled up at Windsor (28.7f, good to soft) in January. Handicapper drops her 2 lb but she's got a bit to prove all of a sudden. Could tap back into her November promise and return to form with a big run. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sheldon |
(2) 6/1(+8%) | (2) Sheldon 6/1, Dual winner here (both 20.2f) last term and stepped up on reappearance when third of 6 at this C&D (heavy) 5 weeks ago, jumping right but making most until no extra from 2 out. Stamina questions to answer after that but has built up a solid record around here so can't be ignored. Jumping badly right here last time but still ran well; two wins here; possible player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Enjoy Your Life |
(5) 13/2(-18%) | (5) Enjoy Your Life 13/2, Won a pair of handicap chases around 3m last winter and reappeared from 8 months off with an encouraging second at Chepstow (19.5f) in November. Ran poorly when pulled up at Exeter next time though, and he was well held despite finishing third behind Saladins Son over C&D 19 days ago. Two wins last season and is below last winning mark, but not at his best the last twice. |
SALADINS SON struck at the second time of asking over fences when a six-length victor over track and trip last month and he could have plenty of improvement in him. Anthony Honeyball's seven-year-old only has a 5lb higher mark to contend with and he looks the one to beat. Hudson De Grugy made the frame over 3m5f at Lingfield in January and will have no concerns with this drop in trip, so he has to be respected. Enjoy Your Life is the pick of the remainder.
SALADINS SON could be called the winner from some way out over C&D last month and, very much looking a young chaser to keep on side, Anthony Honeyball's charge is strongly fancied to defy a 5 lb rise at the expense of Hudson de Grugy, who shaped as if back in form over a trip which seemed to stretch him at Lingfield just over 5 weeks ago. Sheldon, who is building up a solid record here, rounds off the shortlist.
The unexposed 7yo SALADINS SON (nap) won in good style over C&D last month on his second chase start and can defy a 5lb rise.

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Captain Porridge |
(2) 12/1(+70%) | (2) Captain Porridge 12/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Pulled up in handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse (19.8f, soft, 12/1) 29 days ago, losing touch before 3 out. Pulled up on handicap debut at Fairyhouse; back into calmer waters but needs to improve. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Roxboro River |
(6) 14/1(+30%) | (6) Roxboro River 14/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Sixth of 17 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (16.9f, soft, 100/1) 50 days ago. Needs to jump better; Shark Hanlon's 1st runner since November so market watch advised. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Set My Love Free |
(13) 14/1(+65%) | (13) Set My Love Free 14/1, Modest hurdler. Good fifth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Clonmel (16f, heavy, 66/1) 7 days ago. Back up in trip with more needed. Career-best when 5th at Clonmel on handicap bow; this trip will suit; Danny Mullins on. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Washington Parks |
(8) 16/1(+20%) | (8) Washington Parks 16/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Seventh of 22 in novice hurdle (200/1) at Punchestown (16.2f, soft) 31 days ago. Back up in trip. Caught the eye behind Ethical Diamond at Punchestown; leading chance if he handles ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dollymount |
(10) 28/1(+15%) | (10) Dollymount 28/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. Seventh of 18 in novice hurdle at Clonmel (19f, soft, 150/1) 21 days ago. Needs to build on it. Well held in a pair of bumpers and produced no better in two maiden hurdle outings. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Heather View |
(11) 40/1(+50%) | (11) Heather View 40/1, Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 25/1, tenth of 13 in novice hurdle at Fairyhouse (20.4f, soft) on hurdles bow 40 days ago. Ran no race over hurdles at Fairyhouse and might be one for handicaps down the line. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Midnight Eagle |
(12) 80/1(+20%) | (12) Midnight Eagle 80/1, Modest hurdler. 40/1, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Limerick (21f, heavy) 37 days ago, tailing off before 3 out. Sent off large prices for all six starts under rules to date, including on handicap debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Mail Train |
(7) 125/1(-56%) | (7) The Mail Train 125/1, Thrice-raced maiden. Eighth of 10 in novice hurdle (150/1) at Punchestown (20.1f, heavy) 10 days ago. Blinkered for 1st time. Plenty to find on form. Modest form in a trio of point-to-points and a similar story in three maiden hurdles. |
STRETCHEMOUT is fitted with a tongue-tie and cheekpieces now and may be able to make her mark in this company. The point-to-point winner has shown some promise in three outings under Rules to date and has been given a mark of 102. With her mares allowance here she is entitled to play a big part. The handicapper has given Washington Parks a rating of 110 after three runs in strong maiden hurdles and if he can run up to that he has a big chance. The Henry de Bromhead-trained Mack The Chemist hasn't been far away in his three hurdle runs and is another for the shortlist.
BECKISTINE looked the likely winner when coming down at the last on his hurdling debut at Limerick and is fancied to gain compensation at the chief expense of Stretchemout, who should benefit from this longer distance. Mack The Chemist and O'Bon Pardon both need factoring in too.
BECKISTINE had the race at his mercy when a faller at the last on his sole hurdles start at Limerick in January and can make amends

![]() Bras D'or |
(2) 4/5(0%) | (2) Bras D'or 4/5, €55,000 half-brother to fair hurdler Ronde de Nuit (2m winner, by Doctor Dino) and Nuit de France (17f hurdle/chase winner in France). Runner-up on second of 2 outings in Irish points (Oct 2024), the winner taking a bumper for Nigel Twiston-Davies since. Lots to like for top connections. Went close in Irish point; big player for JP McManus on rules debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Fountains Blenhein |
(4) 7/4(+30%) | (4) Fountains Blenhein 7/4, Brother to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/smart chaser Fountains Windfall (2¼m-25f winner) and dual bumper winner/fair hurdler Fountains Blossom (2½m winner), out of a bumper/2¾m-3m hurdle winner. Fourth sole start in point bumpers (Dec 15). Got to be of interest. Shaped with some promise in a point bumper and he should know more this time; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Itaintmebabe |
(5) 11/2(+31%) | (5) Itaintmebabe 11/2, Half-brother to 4 winners, including smart bumper winner Killyglass (by Heron Island) and temperamental winning hurdler/chaser Solitary Palm. Runner-up on second of 2 starts in Irish points (Nov 17). Sean Bowen up and one to note. Runner-up in Irish point and is a half-brother to a useful bumper winner; market useful. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Commanche Princess |
(7) 22/1(-120%) | (7) Commanche Princess 22/1, £5,000 3-y-o, Dartmouth mare. Dam, bumper/2m hurdle winner, half-sister to useful hurdler/chase winner (stayed 21f) Cultivator. 28/1, well beaten in Kempton bumper on debut 4 weeks ago. Has a good pedigree but she made a low-key start at a biggish price at Kempton last month. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ben Lomond |
(1) 66/1(-65%) | (1) Ben Lomond 66/1, 25/1, pulled too hard when well beaten on debut at Taunton in November. Raced too freely and beat only one home when 25-1 for debut at Taunton in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Croeso Talog |
(3) 80/1(-400%) | (3) Croeso Talog 80/1, Cityscape gelding. Dam 1m winner. Withdrawn from intended debut at Southwell (1m4f) last month and was 40-1 at the time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Monansunu |
(6) 150/1(-50%) | (6) Monansunu 150/1, £9,000 Pether's Moon gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/smart chaser (stayed 29f) Potterman. 100/1, pulled hard and well beaten in Kempton bumper on debut 4 weeks ago. 100-1 for his Kempton debut (2m, soft) last month and was a tailed-off last of eight. |
This contest looks all about BRAS D'OR, who was bought for 140,000 pounds shortly after his narrow second between the flags at Loughrea in October. The winner of that race has won a bumper for powerful connections since, while the third has won a point-to-point in comfortable fashion, so it will be disappointing if he can't make a winning Rules debut in a race of this nature. Fountains Blenhein is related to numerous bumper winners and could beat Itaintmebabe to second spot.
BRAS D'OR was second in a point in October and the winner has since taken a bumper for Nigel Twiston-Davies so he makes plenty of appeal starting out in a thin contest. Fountains Blenhein is feared most.
Preference is for BRAS D'OR, who went close in his second Irish point and is an interesting contender on this switch to rules.

(9) 10/3(+0%) | (9) Drash On Ruby 10/3, Remains a maiden after 17 runs under Rules but hard to knock her consistency and she confirmed her stamina for 3m when an excellent second at Taunton last week. Cheekpieces on for first time and she has to be of serious interest from the same mark. 0-17 but went close at Taunton last week on first crack at 3m; one to consider. |

(10) 9/2(0%) | (10) Jongleur D'etoiles 9/2, Improved to win a pair of handicaps around 3m this winter. Possibly raced on the unfavoured part of the track when only third on the hat-trick bid at Southwell last time and given another chance to show his mark is still workable. Below-par third at Southwell when bidding for hat-trick but not discounted today. |

![]() Toonagh Warrior |
(3) 11/2(+66%) | (3) Toonagh Warrior 11/2, Plenty of solid efforts in handicaps for all he's yet to win one. Didn't seem to stay 3m at Newbury penultimate start, which is a concern, for all this is a sharper track. Latest run hardly brimming with promise, either. A case can be made on his November/December form but he's gone off the boil more recently. |

Below par this season but is on a competitive mark and has had wind op since last time. |

![]() Jack Sprat |
(4) 8/1(+33%) | (4) Jack Sprat 8/1, Won two hurdles races at Huntingdon last season and back in top form following a spell over fences when adding to his tally at Exeter in January. Off since but she's of interest. Made it three wins from her last six starts when scoring at Lingfield and she's respected. |

(8) 11/1(-10%) | (8) Eileen's Milan 11/1, Had 3 outings in maiden/novice hurdles at Newton Abbot over the summer, showing a fair level of ability when runner-up on the second occasion. Had a wind op but failed to improve in handicaps so hopes rest on marked step up in distance. Well beaten in first two h'caps but could be back on better ground today; no forlorn hope. |

(5) 12/1(+25%) | (5) Saunton Surf 12/1, Bumper winner for Bradley Gibbs in 2023. Made a positive start to this season when runner-up at Lingfield (23f) and was in the process of running well (in second) when falling at the last at Ffos Las in January. Merely plugged on for fifth at Ludlow so looks worth another go at 3m. Merely fifth at Ludlow recently but has run some good races this term and is not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Whydah Gally |
(2) 16/1(-14%) | (2) Whydah Gally 16/1, Hit the target twice in handicaps at Lingfield last season but yet to hit top form this term and he's not straightforward. Plenty to prove returned to timber. Hasn't shone over fences this winter but he has a better strike-rate over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hillsin |
(6) 50/1(-400%) | (6) Hillsin 50/1, Dual winner for Alan Jones at the start of last summer. Also posted fine runner-up efforts in July/August but his run of good form came to a halt at Wincanton in October. First run for Richard Hawker after 5 months off. Hat-trick last April-June but well beaten when last seen; makes stable debut. |
JOLIE BAIE has looked a different horse since equipped with a tongue-tie (worn again today), building on her Huntingdon second when landing the spoils at Lingfield. Jo Davis' mare has a further 6lb rise to deal with, but she remains open to further improvement and is taken to complete the double. Drash On Ruby has placed on seven of her last eight starts and, with first-time cheekpieces added, she should be in the mix once again. Past C&D winner Jongleur D'etoiles also warrants respect.
DRASH ON RUBY confirmed her stamina for this sort of trip when an excellent second at Taunton a week ago and this likeable mare can gain a deserved first success. Jongleur d'Etoiles may get back on track returned from a short break, with Howaya Now also of interest on the back of a breathing operation.
The mare DRASH ON RUBY remains a maiden but she went close at Taunton last week on her first crack at 3m and is taken to go one better.

![]() Rushmount |
(1) 5/6(+63%) | (1) Rushmount 5/6, Lightly-raced winner over hurdles. Course winner. Good fourth of 25 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (24.1f, good to soft, 20/1) 33 days ago, running on. Course winner built on return when eyecatching fourth at Dublin Racing Festival; player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Betty Dutton |
(9) 13/2(-30%) | (9) Betty Dutton 13/2, One win from 22 NH runs. 10/1 and tongue strap on for 1st time, creditable second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Punchestown (23.3f, soft) 31 days ago. Can make presence felt. Just 1-21 over hurdles but has plenty of placed efforts to her name; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Machismo |
(4) 8/1(-14%) | (4) Machismo 8/1, Winner in hurdle at Tramore in January. Cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable fourth of 18 in handicap hurdle at Gowran (24.3f, heavy, 10/1) 42 days ago. Stable in good form. Big player. Fourth in 3m handicap at Punchestown but is another who is unproven on a sounder surface. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Crossing The Bar |
(7) 8/1(-14%) | (7) Crossing The Bar 8/1, Career best when winning 8-runner handicap hurdle at Catterick (25.3f, good to soft, 4/1) 34 days ago, always holding on. Needs considering. Handles good ground just fine but will need to be at his best from revised Irish mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lady Of The Locke |
(10) 17/2(-89%) | (10) Lady Of The Locke 17/2, 11/10, good fourth of 12 in handicap hurdle at Limerick (20f, soft) 70 days ago. Course bumper winner was well-backed when fourth on handicap debut; player from 1lb lower. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sequoiaspirit |
(5) 10/1(-43%) | (5) Sequoiaspirit 10/1, Winner in hurdle at Navan in November. Sixth of 9 in novice hurdle (11/2) at this course (23.2f, good) 75 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. Good winner at Navan in November; will love the ground and is one for the shortlist. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Ad Caelum |
(8) 22/1(+0%) | (8) Ad Caelum 22/1, Course winner. Latest win in hurdle at Limerick in December. Sixteenth of 19 in handicap hurdle (100/1) at Leopardstown (18f, good to soft) 32 days ago. Back up in trip. Won here off 95 in November but a stone higher now and struggled last two starts. |
BETTY DUTTON has been knocking on the door recently and may be able to get her head in front again now on this better surface. The Frozen Fire mare won her maiden hurdle on good ground a few years ago and seems fairly versatile. She has been runner-up on her last two outings and is only a couple of pounds higher than when chasing home Lucky Viv at Punchestown last month. Crossing The Bar comes here in winning form, having scored at Catterick last month, and is an obvious danger. Machismo ran a solid race on his handicap debut at Gowran last time and is another to consider.
The one who appeals most is RUSHMOUNT, who performed with plenty of credit in a valuable Leopardstown handicap last time and this lightly-raced 8-y-o may well have more to offer. Betty Dutton has been knocking on the door and she is likely to deliver another bold show, while Machismo is third choice ahead of Crossing The Bar and Lady of The Locke.
BETTY DUTTON hit the crossbar on her last two starts and deserves to get her head in front again. Next best is Sequoiaspirit

![]() Just Aidan |
(6) 15/8(+25%) | (6) Just Aidan 15/8, Built on C&D third in January when getting off the mark in 2m Lingfield handicap (soft) 15 days later, scoring by 5 lengths. Should remain very competitive off 7 lb higher. Hit with 7lb rise for Lingfield win but had 5l to spare and he's a key player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Feet On The Ground |
(2) 5/1(-25%) | (2) Feet On The Ground 5/1, All 3 qualifying runs over 2m at Uttoxeter, shaping well when third the last twice. Appeals as a likely improver in handicaps and high on the list. Lightly raced handicap newcomer who is in good hands to progress; possible player. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() John Betjeman |
(5) 6/1(+57%) | (5) John Betjeman 6/1, Has slipped to a dangerous mark but losing run stretches back almost 2 years and he's passed over on the back of a heavy defeat last time. Has blinkers refitted. On a long losing run and below par last time, but each-way shout on penultimate C&D form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Gorcombe Moonshine |
(7) 6/1(-20%) | (7) Gorcombe Moonshine 6/1, Sole victory came over fences back in December 2023 and record in this sphere stands at 0-16. On the upside, he has performed with credit both starts so far this season, including when third back hurdling at Plumpton latest. Poor strike-rate but has made the frame a few times this season; each-way contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Bigz Belief |
(3) 9/1(+25%) | (3) Bigz Belief 9/1, It's now 16 runs since his last win in 2023. Did post a pair of creditable runner-up efforts in December but his run of good form came to a shuddering halt when pulled up at Fakenham on New Year's Day. On a long losing run and pulled up last time, but was in pretty good heart previously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Stage Show |
(9) 9/1(+44%) | (9) Stage Show 9/1, Fair maiden on the Flat and more like it over hurdles with a brace of fourth-place finishes in handicaps around 17f in the autumn. However, form has subsequently dipped and needs to get back on track. A return to form is needed but he could be helped if the ground dries out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Saisissante |
(1) 11/1(-10%) | (1) Saisissante 11/1, Landed juvenile hurdle at Ludlow last season. Encouraging reappearance when third in Hereford handicap in November but not in the same form when only fifth at Windsor in December. Given a bit of time since. Fair third on reappearance in November; well beaten since but could bounce back. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Coco Brave |
(4) 14/1(-40%) | (4) Coco Brave 14/1, Shaped as if needing the run when third in 20.5f Southwell handicap on reappearance but finishing weakly over the same trip at Leicester with a tongue tie added (retained) 8 weeks later. Now back at around 2m. Still early days. Soundly beaten in both handicaps but this drop back in trip could be just what she needs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mind Hunter |
(10) 33/1(+0%) | (10) Mind Hunter 33/1, A fair 2m hurdles winner at his best but he missed whole of 2023 and well held on the Flat and over hurdles this winter. Has plenty to prove. Returned from a long absence in October and has struggled on his three starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Benville Bridge |
(11) 80/1(-60%) | (11) Benville Bridge 80/1, No form of worth over jumps, pulling up in 3 handicaps (2 chase, 1 hurdle) this season. Pulled up in all three handicaps, most recently when back over hurdles here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Janespriceless |
(8) 100/1(-203%) | (8) Janespriceless 100/1, Failed to complete both starts in points and no promise in 3 hurdles with a tongue tie fitted. Handicap debut. Goes handicapping off a basement mark but she's shown very little worthwhile form. |
Just Aidan ploughed through the mud to win decisively at Lingfield and he merits consideration off a 7lb higher mark, while Gorcombe Moonshine has been running well enough in defeat to suggest that he can figure. The vote, however, goes to handicap debutant FEET ON THE GROUND. The Westerner mare has improved with each start in novice/maiden company, finishing third behind a couple of subsequent winners the last twice, and she could exploit an opening mark of 99.
FEET ON THE GROUND could take off in handicaps and is preferred to recent Lingfield scorer Just Aidan in this finale. Gorcombe Moonshine and Saisissante can get involved in the battle for minor honours.
Things clicked for the lightly raced 6yo JUST AIDAN at Lingfield in January and he can follow up. Saisissante is feared most.

![]() Rock Armour |
(1) 2/1(+27%) | (1) Rock Armour 2/1, Off the mark at this C&D in February and, after just 6 days off, would have benefited from stronger gallop when 2 lengths third of 6 to Susiesparkle in handicap (evens) here 2 weeks ago. Enters calculations with cheekpieces back on. Winner over C&D two starts back; third behind Susiesparkle under same conditions next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Desiderata |
(7) 3/1(+54%) | (7) Desiderata 3/1, Made winning start for current yard in minor event at Wolverhampton (9.5f) in January. Shaped as if still in form when fourth of 8 in handicap at same course (12.2f, 11/8) 59 days ago and he can give another good account. Lightly raced; won Class 6 Wolverhampton event in January; excuses next time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() It's A Love Thing |
(3) 7/2(+13%) | (3) It's A Love Thing 7/2, C&D winner. Strong in the betting (2/1) and ran better than for a while when 3¼ lengths third of 12 to Rock Armour in handicap at this C&D 20 days ago, having run of race. Task is now to build on his latest effort. C&D winner off this mark; third behind Rock Armour under same conditions latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Susiesparkle |
(2) 7/1(-100%) | (2) Susiesparkle 7/1, Making only second start on all-weather, stepped up on recent run when doubling her tally in 6-runner handicap (4/1) at this C&D 2 weeks ago. Reunited with claimer who was on board for previous win and she's a major player. Winner over C&D latest, on second start following a breathing operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Muhib |
(4) 9/1(+36%) | (4) Muhib 9/1, After 3 months off, took a step forward when 2¾ lengths fifth of 7 on handicap debut at Chelmsford City (10f, 66/1) 3 weeks ago. Needs to find more again as he looks for his first victory. Didn't get a clear run on recent handicap debut at Chelmsford, although he also hung left. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() We Still Believe |
(5) 22/1(-38%) | (5) We Still Believe 22/1, C&D winner whose latest success came at Ayr last summer. After 6 months off, probably needed the run when 11 lengths eleventh of 12 to Rock Armour in handicap (33/1) at this C&D 20 days ago. Has work to do from current mark, though. Three-time course winner; well behind Rock Armour (and others) over C&D on reappearance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Stoneacre |
(8) 80/1(-142%) | (8) Stoneacre 80/1, Maiden and was never a threat when fifth of 9 in minor event at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 80/1) 10 days ago. Looks to be up against it. Lightly raced maiden; minor encouragement at Wolverhampton latest; needs to build on that. |
Rock Armour and SUSIESPARKLE are honours even after a couple of recent C&D encounters. The latter came out on top when they clashed a fortnight ago and has a decent chance of upholding the form, with Mohammed Tabti taking over from a 3lb claimer in the saddle and effectively reducing the handicapper's attentions for now. The still low-mileage Desiderata and the feasibly-treated It's A Love Thing are others to consider.
SUSIESPARKLE resumed winning ways at this C&D a fortnight ago and she could be capable of following up with more still to offer on all-weather. She is taken to see off the challenge of Sandret, who had excuses on his latest outing and had been in good form prior to that, with Rock Armour also in the mix.
In a competitive little race, maybe DESIDERATA can build on his Wolverhampton success from two starts back, having had excuses since.

(2) 7/2(+22%) | (2) Frankie John 7/2, Once-raced maiden. Fourth of 11 in bumper at Navan (15.7f, heavy, 12/1) on NH debut 25 days ago. Promising fourth behind leading Champion Bumper contender Copacabana at Navan, good chance. |

![]() Le Labo |
(7) 4/1(+20%) | (7) Le Labo 4/1, Mount Nelson gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including useful hurdler/chaser Presentandcounting. The stable sent out a first-time-out bumper winner at Leopardstown on Monday so market support for this one could prove highly significant. Half-brother to three winners, dam unraced half-sister to Binocular, from a top stable. |

![]() Riskaway |
(10) 9/2(-13%) | (10) Riskaway 9/2, Bought for £135,000 after reaching the frame on all 3 starts in points, runner-up latest (Dec 8). Joined a top stable and likely to have a big say on Rules debut. Placed in two of his three starts in points for leading producer Sean Doyle, could feature. |

(9) 6/1(+14%) | (9) Mossy Way 6/1, Twice-raced maiden. Seventh of 13 in bumper (2/1) at Limerick (18f, soft) 68 days ago but player on his Fairyhouse second prior to that. Encouraging second on debut at Fairyhouse, raced too keenly at Limerick, can do better. |

![]() Alaskan View |

![]() Shake The Bag |
(16) 100/1(-52%) | (16) Shake The Bag 100/1, Soldier of Fortune mare. Closely related to poor chaser Henry Brown, stays 27f. Closely related to a bumper/chase winner, Derek O'Connor rides the stable's other runner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Thequeenof Spikle |
(17) 125/1(+38%) | (17) Thequeenof Spikle 125/1, Twice-raced maiden. Tenth of 15 in novice hurdle (66/1) at Tipperary (16.5f, good to soft). Off 10 months. Makes bumpers debut. Down the field in maiden hurdles at Tramore and Tipperary last April/May, safe to rule out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Lion Of The Desert |
(8) 150/1(-127%) | (8) Lion Of The Desert 150/1, €1,000 3-y-o, Valirann gelding. Dam, unraced, sister to fairly useful but temperamental hurdler (stayed 3m) Ashford Wood. Wears hood. First foal, dam by Valirann, an unraced sister to two winners, hooded, best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Carrig Padraig |
(1) 200/1(-100%) | (1) Carrig Padraig 200/1, Twice-raced maiden. 66/1, eighth of 9 in bumper at Kilbeggan (16f, good). Off 9 months. Hooded for 1st time. In rear in bumpers at Punchestown and Kilbeggan early in the season, hooded, no appeal. |
SUNSET BOULEVARD may be able to make a winning start for Willie Mullins. The Wings Of Eagles gelding is a half-brother to talented chaser Jungle Boogie, a Grade 3 winner over fences and a lively outsider for some of the big contests at Cheltenham next week. Riskaway is an interesting contender on his first start for Gordon Elliott. The No Risk At All gelding was bought by Gigginstown after finishing fourth in his point-to-point. Joseph O'Brien's newcomer Le Labo is one to note in the market. The Mount Nelson gelding is a half-brother to 14-time winner Presentandcounting.
SUNSET BOULEVARD gets the vote for Willie Mullins. Le Labo would rate a possible big danger if the betting vibes are strong given that Joseph O'Brien had a first-time-out bumper winner at Leopardstown earlier in the week. Gordon Elliott point recruit Riskaway is another to consider.
Debut point winner FRANKIE JOHN showed enough when fourth behind the Cheltenham-bound Copacobana to suggest he is worth a bet

![]() Pallas Lord |
(4) 9/4(+36%) | (4) Pallas Lord 9/4, Gained course win number 8 when edging out Odd Socks Havana over 1m on Tuesday. Should be very competitive under a 4 lb penalty. Gained an eighth course win in 1m Class 6 handicap here on Tuesday; 4lb penalty. |

![]() Rory |
(5) 4/1(+38%) | (5) Rory 4/1, Unreliable individual. Course winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2024. Respectable fifth of 9 over C&D 19 days ago. Three course wins over 5f-6f; has won over easier 7f than this; needs to up recent level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Concert Boy |
(7) 4/1(+0%) | (7) Concert Boy 4/1, Two course wins this year, latterly over this trip. Remained in form with placed efforts here since and has to be high on the shortlist. Three course wins, two of them this year; placed last two goes; leading claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sir Maxi |
(3) 11/2(+8%) | (3) Sir Maxi 11/2, C&D winner in January. Respectable fifth of 9 over C&D (25/1) 30 days ago. Blinkers on first time. Enters the reckoning with Fentiman taking 7 lb off. Has won here (7f/6f) twice, the most recent coming in Class 6 in January; now blinkered. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Drakeholes |
(6) 10/1(+0%) | (6) Drakeholes 10/1, Four-time C&D winner, including twice in the autumn. His 2 runs this year have been a little disappointing, though. Four-time C&D winner, the most recent coming in November, but not so good more recently. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Kalganov |
(2) 12/1(-20%) | (2) Kalganov 12/1, C&D winner. Last of 8 in handicap (22/1) at Wolverhampton (7f) 45 days ago. Needs a subsequent wind operation to help spark a revival. Won C&D Class 5 in December 2023; has been struggling but has had a breathing operation. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Keep Me Stable |
(8) 16/1(+20%) | (8) Keep Me Stable 16/1, Three-time C&D winner but hasn't threatened to add to his tally the last twice. Three C&D wins, latest in September, but finished last under these conditions latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() American Star |
(1) 18/1(+10%) | (1) American Star 18/1, Out of sorts when last seen in the autumn. Feasibly handicapped but a watching brief is the percentage call after 143 days off. Off since October, but won Class 5 handicap at Chester (turf) last summer; not ruled out. |
Concert Boy is shortlisted based on his reliability since the turn of the year, while Drakeholes is a C&D specialist who cannot be ruled out. However, this could be a good time to catch fellow track-and-trip winner SIR MAXI, who runs with first-time blinkers added and has his chance boosted by the very capable Warren Fentiman taking the ride and pitching in with his 7lb claim. The returning American Star has plummeted in the ratings and merits a betting check.
ODD SOCKS HAVANA is 4 lb better off with Pallas Lord for a narrow defeat over 1m here on Tuesday and that could be enough for the Rebecca Menzies-trained 7-y-o to get the better of the argument this time. Concert Boy is another with a good course record and looks best of the rest.
This looks another fair opportunity for the in-form CONCERT BOY, who has already won twice here this year. Sir Maxi is second pick.

(3) 1/2(+80%) | (3) Aurora Majesty 1/2, Night of Thunder colt. Closely related to 2-y-o 6f winner Without Flaw and half-brother to winner up to 1m Bin Hayyan. One to note with yard capable of readying a newcomer. Has a decent pedigree; newcomer to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Noble Testimony |
(4) 9/4(-181%) | (4) Noble Testimony 9/4, Encouraging second at this C&D on debut and ran to similar level when filling the same position in 5-runner novice here (8f) 20 days ago, clear of rest. Could be ready to go one better. Runner-up in similar races over 7f-1m here on first two starts; the form pick by some way. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Symphony's Song |
(5) 4/1(-14%) | (5) Symphony's Song 4/1, 46,000 gns yearling, Sergei Prokofiev filly. Half-sister to 2 winners, including 2-y-o 7f/1m winner Lambert. Dam, 6f-1m winner who stayed 1¼m, sister to very smart winner up to 6f Alben Star. Watch for market clues. 46,000gns yearling with a decent pedigree; another newcomer to take seriously. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Wyld Bill |
(1) 50/1(+50%) | (1) Wyld Bill 50/1, Never involved on completed start on the Flat in April last year for Michael Bell. Well held on hurdling debut at Ascot (15.7f, good to soft) in January and has since left James Owen. Best watched. Hard to fancy on what he's shown on the Flat and, more recently, over hurdles; new trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() One More Bottle |
(2) 150/1(-50%) | (2) One More Bottle 150/1, Well held both starts in bumpers and fared no better switched to this sphere when sixth of 7 in maiden (100/1) at this course (8f) 2 weeks ago. Major improvement required. Well beaten in bumpers and on recent Flat debut over 1m here (100-1). |
NOBLE TESTIMONY improved from his debut to chase home a progressive type over a mile here and is the ready pick of those with experience. Still a work in progress, the son of Wooded will be maturing nicely and has a golden chance to get off the mark at the third time of asking. One More Bottle and Wyld Bill have shown little under either code of racing, so the attractively-bred newcomers Aurora Majesty and Symphony's Song can fight it out for the runner-up spot.
Having shown promise over C&D on debut, NOBLE TESTIMONY found only a more experienced rival (has won again since) too strong back here last time and he can build on those efforts to open his account. The biggest threat could come from the newcomers, with Aurora Majesty the pick for second ahead of Symphony's Song.
Two hard-to-weigh-up newcomers, but NOBLE TESTIMONY is the clear pick of those with form, setting a fair standard.

![]() Quiet Resolve |
(3) 2/1(+43%) | (3) Quiet Resolve 2/1, C&D winner in December. 9/2, creditable second of 5 in handicap at this C&D 19 days ago. Evidently goes well here and should make his presence felt. Both wins gained here and close second in similar race over C&D latest; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mr Mistoffelees |
(5) 11/4(+31%) | (5) Mr Mistoffelees 11/4, Eleven runs since last win in 2022. 4/1, good third of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 12 days ago. Can make presence felt. Has finished third in 1m Class 4 Southwell handicaps on last two goes; chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Dembe |
(1) 3/1(-20%) | (1) Dembe 3/1, 12/1, improved on recent efforts to win 12-runner handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 47 days ago, overcoming pace bias. 3 lb rise fair enough and another bold show is on the cards. Seven wins on the AW elsewhere including three of last five starts; back down in class. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Chuzzlewit |
(6) 10/3(+72%) | (6) Chuzzlewit 10/3, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2024. Creditable sixth of 12 in handicap (16/1) at Southwell (8.1f) 42 days ago. Needs to get back on track with blinkers refitted. Most recent win gained in C&D Class 3 handicap when blinkered for first time last March. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Overnight Oats |
(7) 5/1(+23%) | (7) Overnight Oats 5/1, Four wins this winter, the latest at Southwell last month. 7/2, eighth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 17 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Claims if he puts his best foot forward. Being kept busy; six wins on the AW elsewhere over the past few months; unraced here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() The Cookstown Cafu |
(4) 17/2(-21%) | (4) The Cookstown Cafu 17/2, C&D winner. 16/1, creditable sixth of 11 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 12 days ago, never nearer. Has edged down to an attractive mark and he could be a factor if on-song. Last two wins gained here; not so good more recently but is handily weighted. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Orbaan |
(2) 22/1(+33%) | (2) Orbaan 22/1, Eleven runs since last win in 2024. 10¼ lengths eleventh of 12 to Dembe in handicap (50/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 47 days ago. Looks up against it. Yard also saddles The Cookstown Cafu. Well behind Dembe at Lingfield latest but his best AW form has come on this track. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Outsmart |
(8) 40/1(-60%) | (8) Outsmart 40/1, C&D winner. Twelve runs since last win in 2022. Sixth of 10 in handicap (16/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 26 days ago. Others look stronger. C&D winner in 2022; some encouragement on recent comeback at Wolverhampton. |
DEMBE went in by just under a length in a stronger event at Lingfield in January and is only 3lb higher for that triumph. Simon Pearce's seven-year-old is holding his form well and can make it four wins out of his last six starts. Quiet Resolve occupied the runner-up berth over C&D last month and should go close again, while Mr Mistoffelees is another to watch out for.
DEMBE did well under the circumstances when landing a Class 3 Lingfield handicap last time and a 3 lb nudge is unlikely to stop him in his tracks. He may have most to fear from Mr Mistoffelees, who has put in good shifts both starts in this sphere for present connections and he remains feasibly treated. The Cookstown Cafu and Quiet Resolve are others to consider.
All of these need considering, with a chance taken on ORBAAN. He needs to come back to form but he's a player on December's C&D third.

![]() Pockley |
(3) 15/8(+46%) | (3) Pockley 15/8, Four-time C&D winner, the latest gained last month. Bit below form when sixth of 10 in handicap (7/2) back here 20 days ago, very slowly away. Claims if able to bounce back. Often slowly away but has an 8-30 record here including two wins this year. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Latin Five |
(1) 3/1(-33%) | (1) Latin Five 3/1, Won 11-runner handicap at this C&D (14/1) 33 days ago. 2 lb nudge neither here nor there and it's likely that he will be on the premises once again. Last two wins gained over C&D including last month's reappearance; should go well again. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() No Speed Limit |
(6) 7/2(+42%) | (6) No Speed Limit 7/2, Sixteen runs since last win in 2023. Below form sixth of 11 in claimer at Dundalk (6f, 66/1) 6 days ago, doing too much too soon. Chance on old form. Last four wins gained in 5f-7f handicaps on the AW at Dundalk in Ireland, latest 2023. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Global Effort |
(5) 15/2(-15%) | (5) Global Effort 15/2, Won 10-runner minor event at Wolverhampton (5.1f, 9/2) 9 days ago. More on his plate back in a handicap under a penalty but he has to be taken seriously all the same. All three wins gained in Class 6 Wolverhampton events including over this trip last week. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Stallone |
(7) 11/1(+8%) | (7) Stallone 11/1, Three-time C&D winner. Sixteen runs since last win in 2024. Seventh of 10 in minor event (25/1) at this course (6f) 7 days ago. Something to find on form. Three C&D wins, the latest coming 12 months ago; patchy record lately. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Sir Benedict |
(4) 12/1(-41%) | (4) Sir Benedict 12/1, Three wins from 13 runs last year. 9/2, last of 7 in handicap at Southwell (5f) 19 days ago. Cheekpieces back on and he looks vulnerable. Has gone close over C&D but needs to bounce back from a poor run at Southwell latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Rockley Point |
(8) 18/1(-13%) | (8) Rockley Point 18/1, Four-time course winner. Thirty-eight runs since last win in 2023. Bit below form fifth of 10 in minor event (28/1) at this course (6f) 7 days ago. Wouldn't be without an each-way chance if on-song. Claims on his fourth behind Pockley four starts ago, but not so good since then. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Posh Maisie |
(2) 100/1(-150%) | (2) Posh Maisie 100/1, Last of 5 in handicap at this C&D (80/1) 5 days ago, slowly away. Ex-Irish maiden who has failed to beat a rival in three starts since switching to Britain. |
LATIN FIVE returned to winning ways by a head in this grade over track and trip last month and a 2lb rise might prove to be on the lenient side. The eight-year-old remains on a workable mark and could complete a double. Global Effort struck in a classified stakes at Wolverhampton and is an interesting contender now that he steps back into the handicap ranks. Of the remainder, eight-time course winner Pockley makes the most appeal.
Irish raider NO SPEED LIMIT is lurking on a dangerous mark and left the strong impression that he may soon be ready to cash in on the handicapper's mercy when third at Dundalk last month. It's best to draw a line through his subsequent display in a claimer at the same course last week and he shades preference ahead of Latin Five, who resumed winnings ways over C&D last time, and recent Wolverhampton scorer Global Effort.
This can see LATIN FIVE (nap) follow up a recent C&D win, which was gained on his reappearance and following a breathing operation.

(1) 16/5(+9%) | (1) Northern Cracksman 16/5, First run since leaving Lawrence Mullaney when creditable second of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 4/1) 10 days ago, no match for winner. Tongue strap on 1st time and he merits consideration. Won back-to-back Class 6 handicaps, including one over C&D, before runner-up latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cloch Nua |
(8) 7/2(+0%) | (8) Cloch Nua 7/2, Three-time C&D winner. Latest win at Southwell in January. 11/8, bit below form fifth of 9 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f) 27 days ago, not clear run. Has to be taken seriously. Hat-trick in Class 6 classified events in January, including two over C&D; excuses latest. |

![]() Skilled Warrior |
(4) 7/2(+22%) | (4) Skilled Warrior 7/2, C&D winner. Seventeen runs since last win in 2023. 22/1, second of 12 in handicap at this course (10.2f) 20 days ago, well positioned. Back down in trip and more will be needed if he's to go one better this time. Runner-up in 1m2f Class 6 here off 249-day absence latest; player if backing that up. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Broken Spear |
(2) 6/1(+50%) | (2) Broken Spear 6/1, Unreliable individual. 25/1, creditable third of 7 in handicap at this course (7.1f) 5 days ago, slowly away. On a good mark but others make appeal for win purposes all the same. Hasn't won for nearly two years, or over this far; encouraging recent return over 7f here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Falcon Nine |
(3) 6/1(-33%) | (3) Falcon Nine 6/1, Creditable second of 10 in handicap (4/1) at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 38 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Charlie Fellowes and should have a part to play. 0-17 but runner-up in 8.6f Class 6 Wolverhampton handicap for Charlie Fellowes latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Diddy Man |
(5) 11/1(-10%) | (5) Diddy Man 11/1, C&D winner. First run since leaving Michael Attwater when fourth of 8 in handicap at Wolverhampton (7.2f, 15/2) 26 days ago. Not easy to make a case for. Won similar race over C&D last April; encouraging recent reappearance; contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cuban Fiesta |
(7) 12/1(+0%) | (7) Cuban Fiesta 12/1, 16/1, eleventh of 12 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, heavy). Off 133 days ahead of this debut for new yard and sports a first-time visor. Others more persuasive. Bit to prove, but was runner-up in a similar race over C&D in September. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Shaz |
(6) 66/1(-230%) | (6) Shaz 66/1, Thrice-raced maiden. 200/1, third of 7 in novice at Wolverhampton (6.1f). Off 12 months and significantly up in trip for this handicap/yard debut. Needs to raise her game. Has been off for over a year and looks a doubtful stayer; debut for new trainer. |
A promising second on his first run for this stable at Wolverhampton last week, NORTHERN CRACKSMAN should be suited by dropping back in trip, having scored over C&D off 11lb lower in January. The four-year-old gets the vote ahead of Falcon Nine, making his first start for the in-form Iain Jardine team, and Cloch Nua, who completed a hat-trick last month, including a couple of victories over track and trip.
The 9.5f trip appeared to stretch NORTHERN CRACKSMAN at Wolverhampton recently and he looks the way to go back down in trip off the same mark. Cloch Nua's winning run came to a halt at Southwell but he didn't help himself with a sluggish start and will be a threat if breaking more alertly this time. Falcon Nine also enters calculations.
A competitive race for the class and FALCON NINE appeals most on his debut for a new trainer.

![]() Doon The Glen |
(11) 17/2(+6%) | (11) Doon The Glen 17/2, Remains a maiden after 23 Flat runs. 10/1, good second of 9 in handicap at Southwell (6.1f) 5 days ago. Respected. 0-23 but has finished runner-up over C&D and filled the same spot at Southwell latest. |

![]() She'sashambles |
(3) 10/1(0%) | (3) She'sashambles 10/1, Eighth of 10 in handicap at this C&D (4/1) 44 days ago. Not taken lightly at these weights if shrugging off latest effort. Below form in similar race over C&D latest, but has placed form a few times here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Korroor |
(7) 10/1(+38%) | (7) Korroor 10/1, Course winner. Had wind op before coming in only eighth of 9 in handicap (25/1) at this C&D 30 days ago. Cheekpieces on for 1st time now. Sole win gained over 7f here in 2023; hard to recommend on more recent form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Midnightattheoasis |
(9) 12/1(+0%) | (9) Midnightattheoasis 12/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2023. Respectable third of 9 in minor event (11/1) at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 3 days ago, not ideally placed. Ought to be in the shake-up. Placed in Class 6 AW events elsewhere last two starts including at Wolverhampton on Monday. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Hurstwood |
(5) 16/1(-33%) | (5) Hurstwood 16/1, C&D winner. Seventh of 8 in handicap (10/1) at this C&D 14 days ago so needs to get back on track. Has won over C&D and some okay form this year before not-so-good run latest; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cubanista |
(10) 20/1(-11%) | (10) Cubanista 20/1, Thirty runs since last win in 2022. 10/1, last of 9 in handicap at Nottingham (6.1f, heavy). Off 148 days. Needs a couple of these to falter. 1-36 overall, including 0-11 on AW, and absent since October, but has been placed over C&D. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Cuan |
(2) 25/1(-14%) | (2) Cuan 25/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 14/1, ninth of 10 in handicap at Wolverhampton (6.1f) 37 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time with work to do. Held in similar race at Wolverhampton on handicap debut, but she'd been off for 237 days. |
Now that RAFT UP has regained the winning thread after a taking performance in a classified contest over C&D last week, Harriet Bethell's charge is likely to have more improvement forthcoming and he can bring up the double. The veteran Athollblair Boy may be winless since a victory off 15lb lower over track and trip a little over a year ago but he is a key player, as is Arlington, who has been runner-up on two of his last three starts.
RAFT UP took a step forward in a first-time hood with an emphatic C&D success last week and is fancied to defy a 5 lb penalty with the headgear again fitted here. In-form C&D scorer Arlington appeals as the one to chase home Harriet Bethell's 4-y-o ahead of Midnightattheoasis and Athollblair Boy.
Cases to be made for most of these and perhaps ARLINGTON, a two-time C&D winner and runner-up last week, is the answer.
Ths is the racecard key.

This is the 16:15 Kempton race from the video above backed at 28/1 earlier in the day.
Horse racing is a popular and historic sport in the UK, with a tradition dating back centuries. It is a multi-billion pound industry that attracts millions of spectators each year and generates significant economic activity.
There are two main types of horse racing in the UK: flat racing and jump racing. Flat racing is run on a level course and is typically shorter in distance, while jump racing involves horses jumping over obstacles and is generally longer in distance. Both types of racing are popular with spectators and bettors, and they take place at various racetracks throughout the country.
The most famous horse racing event in the UK is the Grand National, which is held annually at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. It is a jump racing event that is known for its challenging course and has become a national institution in the UK. Other notable horse racing events in the UK include the Derby, held at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, and the Royal Ascot, held at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire.
Horse racing in the UK is regulated by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), which sets rules and standards for the industry. It is responsible for the welfare of racehorses and the safety of jockeys and trainers, as well as ensuring fair and transparent racing practices.
In addition to its economic and cultural importance, horse racing in the UK also plays a significant role in the breeding and training of thoroughbred horses. Many of the world's top thoroughbreds are bred and trained in the UK, and the industry plays a vital role in the preservation and promotion of the breed.
Overall, horse racing is an integral part of British culture and a major contributor to the country's economy. It is a thrilling and exciting sport that continues to attract a loyal following and generate significant interest from spectators and bettors around the world.
