|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

9/4(+10%) | (6) Morse 9/4, 14/1, showed improved form 16 months on from his debut when third of 11 in maiden at this course (10.7f) 2 weeks ago, clear of rest. Down in trip. Lots to like. Drop in trip could well suit and looks a leading player here despite a wide draw. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8/1(-14%) | (1) Charlie Brow'n 8/1, Bounced back to form after 11 weeks off when fourth of 14 in maiden (33/1) at this course (7f) 19 days ago. Each-way claims. Shaped as though 1m would suit last time and likely to do better this time. |

100/1(-100%) | (2) Cyprus Springs 100/1, 40/1, showed nothing when eleventh of 14 in maiden at this course (10.7f) on debut 3 months ago. Down in trip. Showed modest ability after a slow start over 1m2f here in November; much more needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (9) (50/1 -100%) Calmafterthestorm |
50/1(-100%) | (9) Calmafterthestorm 50/1, 100/1, eighth of 11 in maiden at this course (10.7f) on debut 2 weeks ago, merely passing beaten rivals after very slowly away. Down in trip. Totally missed the break on debut over 1m2f here two weeks ago; good run considering. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (5) (66/1 -100%) Little Empire |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (11) (16/5 -28%) Gioiella |
16/5(-28%) | (11) Gioiella 16/5, 9/2, backed up the form she showed on debut for current yard when second of 14 in maiden at this C&D 12 days ago, no match for winner. In the mix again. Just in front of Lauroline over C&D 12 days ago; has a leading chance if able to reproduce. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (8) (125/1 -150%) Vector Belle |
125/1(-150%) | (8) Vector Belle 125/1, Making GB/IRE Flat debut. 200/1 and hooded for 1st time, tailed-off tenth of 12 in bumper at Kilbeggan (15.1f, good to soft) 10 months ago. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (10) (28/1 +15%) Eirinn Rua |
28/1(+15%) | (10) Eirinn Rua 28/1, Sioux Nation filly. Closely related to useful winner up to 6.3f Stone Circle. Dam, maiden (stayed 10.5f), half-sister to winner up to 1¼m (stayed 1¾m) Valentina Guest and 1m-1¼m winner Bective Ranger (both useful). Wears tongue strap. Tongue-tied for her debut and worth a market check although likely best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (4) (22/1 -214%) Jupiter Rock |
22/1(-214%) | (4) Jupiter Rock 22/1, 250/1, thirteenth of 16 in juvenile hurdle at Naas (15.5f, soft) 17 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Fair on the Flat, below form on last run at the Curragh in September. Cheekpieces tried on his return to the Flat and the stable is in good form; could go well. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
MORSE made a pleasing debut behind Mohawk Chief in an 18-runner Leopardstown maiden last autumn, especially considering he lost ground after getting upset in the stalls and also didn't enjoy a clear run early in the straight. The Charles Weld-trained gelding further enhanced his claims when third to market leaders Squire Danagher and Carlo Bianconi here a fortnight ago, and the drop back to a mile should suit. There is little to choose between Gioiella and Lauroline on running behind Beauty Bella over C&D recently, while Charlie Brow'n finished well over 7f here last month. Jupiter Rock reverts from hurdles and showed some promise for Joseph O'Brien on the Flat last year.
MORSE showed improved form 16 months on from his debut when third over 10.7f here a fortnight ago and with that outing sure to have blown away any cobwebs, Charles Weld's 4-y-o gets the nod over Lauroline, who shaped with promise under this rider when third over C&D on return earlier this month. Gioiella and Jupiter Rock are another couple not out of things.
The one to be on though should be MORSE who showed he retained his ability over 1m2f here last time and will appreciate the drop in trip

1st (13) (4/1 +33%) Spiced Rum |
4/1(+33%) | (13) Spiced Rum 4/1, Fair staying handicapper on Flat and in the frame all three starts in juvenile hurdles, too keen when a fading third of six at Ffos Las on her handicap bow 13 days ago. In the picture with hood added. 2m1f Flat winner; some fair form over hurdles and the hood may be a plus; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (11/4 +8%) Emotivo |
11/4(+8%) | (3) Emotivo 11/4, Fair maiden on the Flat who has shown similar form when fourth in juvenile maidens at Down Royal and Gowran in September. In the mix if on song after a break. Fourth on both hurdle starts and could have more to offer for top Irish trainer. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (10) (25/1 +24%) Mountain Lake |
25/1(+24%) | (10) Mountain Lake 25/1, Fair maiden at her best on Flat for Saeed bin Suroor. Changed hands for only 1,000 gns in December though and market can guide on her hurdling/stable debut. Ability on Flat for Godolphin but tailed off when last seen; watching brief may be best. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (14) (11/4 -120%) Therapist |
11/4(-120%) | (14) Therapist 11/4, A fairly useful winner on Flat for Andrew Balding. Yet to be asked for her effort when fell 2 out in juvenile hurdle at Doncaster (13/8) 47 days ago. May do better still. Big shout. Useful on the Flat and bang there when falling two out at Doncaster on second hurdle start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (8/1 +0%) Ma Belle Artiste |
8/1(+0%) | (9) Ma Belle Artiste 8/1, Useful 1m winner on Flat for Joseph O'Brien. Changed hands for 45,000 gns in October and she's a considered newcomer to this sphere after a break. Can play a leading role if tapping into her Flat ability on today's hurdle and yard debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (8/1 +33%) Illucidate |
8/1(+33%) | (6) Illucidate 8/1, Fair ex-French Flat winner who came in third of 4 in juvenile hurdle (3/1) at Ludlow (15.8f, heavy) on NH debut 40 days ago. Can build on it now. French Flat winner who is open to improvement back in a tongue-tie on second hurdle start. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (12) (66/1 +0%) Sindri |
66/1(+0%) | (12) Sindri 66/1, Fair maiden on Flat, stays 1¾m, not disgraced in handicap at Chelmsford last time. Sold from Michael Bell 10,000 gns later in November and possibilities on hurdles bow. 0-7 on the Flat and failed to progress; makes hurdle debut and others are more compelling. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (4) (22/1 +12%) Hawk Jet |
22/1(+12%) | (4) Hawk Jet 22/1, Maiden on Flat who progressed again when runner-up in Yarmouth handicap in October. Highly respected starting out in this sphere. Ability on the Flat but at a modest level and improvement needed now tackling hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (1) (14/1 -27%) Absolute Queen |
14/1(-27%) | (1) Absolute Queen 14/1, Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 1¾m), won twice in 2023. Should be up to making her presence felt in a race like this if taking to her new discipline. Two wins on the Flat last summer (1m2f/11.4f) and could go well on hurdle debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (2) (300/1 -200%) Alduni's Girl |
300/1(-200%) | (2) Alduni's Girl 300/1, 125/1, down the field in a Huntingdon bumper in November. Likely outsider again on hurdles debut. Big odds in both bumpers and down the field each time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (10/1 -25%) Honeybun |
10/1(-25%) | (5) Honeybun 10/1, Blue Bresil filly. Dam, modest 19f/3m hurdle winner, sister to fairly useful hurdler (stayed 2½m) Upstager. Noteworthy newcomer from top yard. In top hands and makes rules debut in a weak race; interesting; watch the betting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (125/1 -25%) Looklikewemadeit |
125/1(-25%) | (8) Looklikewemadeit 125/1, Modest maiden on the Flat for Daniel & Claire Kubler. Needs yard switch to spark a resurgence on her hurdling debut. Didn't show much across her five Flat starts; probably best watched on hurdle/stable debut. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (11) (200/1 -300%) Royal Toast |
200/1(-300%) | (11) Royal Toast 200/1, Fair form in pair of maidens on the Flat in Ireland for Joseph O'Brien. New connections acquired him for 10,000 gns but she made mistakes when only fourth of five in Leicester juvenile hurdle in November. Lots more is required. Displayed some ability on the Flat but tailed off on hurdle/stable debut in November. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (200/1 -203%) Leazy Lindsay |
200/1(-203%) | (7) Leazy Lindsay 200/1, Modest maiden on Flat (stays 1½m) and not much encouragement for new yard on both hurdling starts at Doncaster and Ludlow. Others preferred. Modest maiden on the Flat and well beaten then pulled up on her first two hurdle starts. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
THERAPIST looked to be coming into contention holding every chance when falling two out at Doncaster on her latest start and Nicky Henderson's charge may be able to gain compensation on this occasion. Irish raider Emotivo can give her most to think about, while Spiced Rum may improve for the application of a hood. A winner twice on the Flat in Ireland, Ma Belle Artiste is one to note for market support on her first outing for new connections.
THERAPIST was a fairly useful Flat winner in the summer and was shaping up well on just her second hurdles run for Nicky Henderson when taking a late fall at Doncaster so gets the verdict. Irish challenger Emotivo has the form to play a big part and rates the main danger, with hurdling debutantes Absolute Queen and Hawk Jet also worthy of consideration.
The pick is ILLUCIDATE, who showed signs of promise on hurdle debut and is back in a tongue-tie, in which she won on the Flat in France

1st (1) (4/1 +20%) Riyami |
4/1(+20%) | (1) Riyami 4/1, Creditable fifth of 23 in handicap hurdle at Leopardstown (16f, good to soft, 22/1) 50 days ago. Had been improving when last seen on the Flat in late 2023. Up 16lb in total for two C&D wins but certainly respected with the stable in good form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (2) (22/1 -57%) Rockview Consort |
22/1(-57%) | (2) Rockview Consort 22/1, Course winner. One win from 3 runs last year. Creditable seventh of 13 in handicap (20/1) at this course (12f) 33 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Mid-division over 1m4f here last month; could still be interesting off this mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (25/1 -25%) Figurehead |
25/1(-25%) | (11) Figurehead 25/1, Creditable 2 lengths seventh of 14 to Gains of War in handicap at this C&D (50/1) 26 days ago, never nearer. Blinkers on for 1st time. Good run last time; another new headgear combination tried here and could run ino a place. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (5/4 +64%) Secret Rock |
5/4(+64%) | (4) Secret Rock 5/4, Justified support when winning 14-runner handicap at this course (12f) 26 days ago, having to pick way through. Will stay 2m and looks capable of following up. Yet to try this trip on the Flat but clearly a player if he can last it out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (40/1 -100%) Firm Belief |
40/1(-100%) | (9) Firm Belief 40/1, Winner at Navan in October and wasn't disgraced when 5¾ lengths thirteenth of 14 to Gains of War in handicap at this C&D (11/1) 26 days ago. Down 4lb now but remains to be seen whether that will be enough; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (66/1 -164%) Rodney Bay |
66/1(-164%) | (6) Rodney Bay 66/1, Latest win at the Curragh in October but ran no sort of race when last of 14 in handicap at this course (12f, 66/1) 61 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Has work to do. Well beaten in a handicap hurdle and a 1m4f handicap here last twice; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (10) (12/1 +14%) Crystal Caves |
12/1(+14%) | (10) Crystal Caves 12/1, Creditable ¾-length fifth of 14 to Gains of War in handicap (7/1) at this C&D 26 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Not taken lightly. Back to form when only beaten a length in a C&D handicap last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (12) (13/2 -8%) Circus Act |
13/2(-8%) | (12) Circus Act 13/2, Blinkered for 1st time, good second of 18 in handicap hurdle (16/1) at Naas (19.1f, soft) 33 days ago. Booking of Heffernan a plus. Blinkers on for 1st time on the Flat. Another bold show likely. Just failed to get up in a 2m3f handicap hurdle at Naas last month; should go close. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (13) (12/1 +25%) Alex The Great |
12/1(+25%) | (13) Alex The Great 12/1, 11/2, ninth of 14 in handicap at this course (10.7f) 12 days ago, slowly away. Significantly back up in trip. Close third to Gains Of War over C&D last month; certainly respected on that form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (3) (40/1 -100%) Effernock Fizz |
40/1(-100%) | (3) Effernock Fizz 40/1, Nineteen runs since last win in 2021. 20/1, ninth of 10 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (15.8f, good to soft) 122 days ago. Has been given a chance by the assessor back in this code. Well beaten in a Ffos Las handicap hurdle in October when last seen; best watched foe now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (7) (20/1 -300%) Sweet Will |
20/1(-300%) | (7) Sweet Will 20/1, Fairly useful winner at 20f in chases but ran poorly at Doncaster (24f, good, 17/2) 18 days ago. Lightly raced in this sphere. Flat form is patchy but could be well-treated off this mark and well worth a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (25/1 -56%) Honketonk Angel |
25/1(-56%) | (14) Honketonk Angel 25/1, C&D winner in November and ran at least as well when 1¼ lengths sixth of 14 to Gains of War in handicap at this C&D 26 days ago. Beat Circus Act over C&D in November; should be thereabouts if running to the same level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
13th (5) (9/1 -80%) Ellaat |
9/1(-80%) | (5) Ellaat 9/1, Latest win at Gowran in October. Creditable third of 16 in handicap hurdle (9/4) at Punchestown (16.5f, soft) 90 days ago. Cheekpieces on 1st time. Fair on the Flat, good on last Flat outing. Likely to run well again. Cheekpieces tried here and likely to go well if the market speaks favourably. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (8) (33/1 -136%) Mephisto |
33/1(-136%) | (8) Mephisto 33/1, C&D winner. 16/1, fell in handicap hurdle at Down Royal (16.9f, good to soft) 166 days ago. Off since. Fair on the all weather, creditable on last Flat run. Out of form and not seen since falling in a Down Royal handicap hurdle in September. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
CIRCUS ACT was having her first Flat start in over a year when beaten half a length by Honketonk Angel over C&D in November and the James Nash-trained mare, who had to race alone towards the far side inside the final furlong, can reverse the places on these revised terms. She went close on her only subsequent start when just failing to peg back American Money over hurdles at Naas last month. Secret Rock kept on well to justify good support over 1m4f here last month, while Riyami and Ellaat are two other dual-purpose geldings to consider. The second reserve Gains Of War had a number of these rivals behind when scoring over C&D last month, including Alex The Great, Crystal Caves and Honketonk Angel, who were close up in third, fifth and sixth respectively.
SECRET ROCK was value for a bit extra over the result when winning at this venue last month having had to pick his way through early in the straight, so he looks capable of defying a 5 lb rise, especially with the longer trip expected to suit. Circus Act and Ellaat arrive on the back of good runs over hurdles and head the opposition.
The choice is CIRCUS ACT(nap), narrowly beaten over C&D in November before another narrow defeat over hurdles at Naas

1st (2) (9/2 +18%) High Treason |
9/2(+18%) | (2) High Treason 9/2, Placed in 2 bumpers last spring and promise to glean from both starts over hurdles at around 20f in recent months. Tongue tie fitted now and likely he can do better still. Minor honours every time; a respiratory issue was reported last time; tongue tied now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (4) (10/3 +5%) Yalla Habibi |
10/3(+5%) | (4) Yalla Habibi 10/3, Ran to a fairly useful level in bumpers and offered something at first attempt over hurdles when fourth in a C&D novice 17 days ago. Likely he can do better again. Encouraging C&D hurdles debut from well off pace, but another minor honour probably awaits. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (1/2 -25%) Navajo Indy |
1/2(-25%) | (3) Navajo Indy 1/2, Fairly useful bumper winner who has made an encouraging start over hurdles, runner-up in maiden events at around 2m, coming clear with another useful prospect for the latest of them at Newbury. Should prove tough to beat with prospect of more to come. Reliable and progressive; should stay and has easily the best form in this field. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (1) (100/1 +0%) Harbour Bridge |
100/1(+0%) | (1) Harbour Bridge 100/1, Showed some ability in bumpers but pulled up both starts over hurdles to date. Cheekpieces on 1st time but he can only be watched. Some ability in his two bumpers but pulled up in both his hurdle races; headgear now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Newbury bumper winner NAVAJO INDY has achieved a decent level of form in two outings over hurdles and stepping up in trip is unlikely to cause any problems for Tom Symonds' gelding. High Treason may benefit from a first-time tongue-tie following his latest fourth at Leicester when reported to be suffering with a breathing issue, while Yalla Habibi is taken to step forward from his hurdling bow here last month.
A fairly useful winner in bumpers, NAVAJO INDY has shaped up well in finishing runner-up both starts over hurdles and this looks an excellent opportunity for him to open his account in this sphere. High Treason may emerge as the principal danger.
This will surely go to NAVAJO INDY who has easily the best form thanks to his Newbury second, when the first two drew 15l clear.

1st (4) (10/11 +0%) Illico De Cotte |
10/11(+0%) | (4) Illico De Cotte 10/11, Easy winner of sole outing in Irish points and has shaped well under Rules when runner-up in Lingfield and Wincanton maiden hurdles this winter. Every chance he can go one better. Point winner who has been runner-up twice over hurdles; a first rules win looks imminent. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (3) (7/2 +30%) Howaya Now |
7/2(+30%) | (3) Howaya Now 7/2, Progressed again over hurdles when runner-up at Newbury (24.2f) on handicap debut in March last year. Looked set to fill the same position when falling 2 out at Warwick on his seasonal/chase debut in November and ran just respectably reverted to hurdling at Wincanton last month. Work to do with Illico De Cotte judged on latest form but he's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (2) (11/4 -38%) Golden De Coeur |
11/4(-38%) | (2) Golden De Coeur 11/4, Fair but winless in bumpers (Ireland) but successful in a couple of points last year and probably should have opened his hurdle account at Sedgefield (19.8f) 33 days ago, edged out final 100 yds after bad mistake last. Every chance of gaining compensation upped in trip. Two-time point winner who has been placed on all three hurdle starts; strong claims. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (125/1 -25%) Newtonian |
125/1(-25%) | (6) Newtonian 125/1, Remains a maiden after 17 runs but ran one of this season's better races retried in headgear when fourth over C&D (good to soft) last month. Wouldn't be sure to build on that, however. 0-17 despite operating off a basement mark in handicaps, and he would be a surprise winner. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (5) (9/1 +10%) Law Of Supply |
9/1(+10%) | (5) Law Of Supply 9/1, Successful on last of 3 starts in Irish points. Very green but was definitely getting the idea late when fourth in a Chepstow bumper last April. Led until before 3 out on hurdling debut at Exeter (21.6f, soft) 3 months ago and could do better with a tongue tie applied (also had wind op). Well beaten on hurdle debut but wind op since and this point winner retains potential. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (40/1 -100%) Rockwiththetimes |
40/1(-100%) | (7) Rockwiththetimes 40/1, Got off mark in Irish points at second attempt but well held starting out under Rules in a Wincanton novice and Ascot maiden hurdle. Probably needs more time. Point winner but well beaten/pulled up on his first two hurdle starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (14/1 +30%) Ultra Beat |
14/1(+30%) | (8) Ultra Beat 14/1, Third sole start in Irish points and on bumper debut but pulled up on Chepstow hurdles debut (amiss) and only fifth in Bangor maiden last time. Needs a step forward. It's possible this step up in trip will suit but a good chunk of improvement is needed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (200/1 -506%) Valfortore |
200/1(-506%) | (9) Valfortore 200/1, Tailed off in bumper (quite prominent in the betting) and novice hurdle. Significantly up in trip. In good hands but he's been tailed off on his first two starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (250/1 -150%) Ask Me Out |
250/1(-150%) | (1) Ask Me Out 250/1, Pulled up in maiden/novice hurdles in November. Hard to make any sort of case for significantly upped in trip with a tongue tie applied. Pulled up at big odds on first two starts; transformation needed up in trip in tongue-tie. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
Apart from a mishap in Grade 2 company at Cheltenham, ILLICO DE COTTE has had a consistent start to his career and he must hold every chance on the back of a narrow defeat at Wincanton last month. The extra yardage should suit and he can uphold form with Howaya Now (fourth) from that contest, as well as seeing off Sedgefield runner-up Golden De Coeur.
Only a handful of these make serious appeal and it's ILLICO DE COTTE who gets the nod to come out on top having hit the crossbar in a couple of similar events this winter. Golden de Coeur, who should have won but for a late mistake at Sedgefield last month, looks the most obvious danger, with Howaya Now and Law of Supply taken to battle out third spot.
Point winner ILLICO DE COTTE has finished second on two of his three hurdle starts and is taken to get off the mark under rules.

11/2(+54%) | (4) Theriverrunsdeep 11/2, 3-time C&D winner. Latest win here in December. Eighth of 10 in handicap (6/1) at this C&D 14 days ago. Closely matched with Below Deck on her penultimate run, outside draw could be a negative.. |

2nd (11) (10/1 +0%) My Girl Sioux |
10/1(+0%) | (11) My Girl Sioux 10/1, Remains a maiden after 20 Flat runs. 10/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, creditable 2¼ lengths fourth of 14 to Phil's Dream in handicap at this course (5f) 19 days ago. Two fourth placings at this venue lately have been over 5f, perhaps not as good at 6f. |

3rd (5) (13/2 -30%) Phil's Dream |
13/2(-30%) | (5) Phil's Dream 13/2, 50/1, won 14-runner handicap at this course (5f) 19 days ago by nose from Below Deck, meeting trouble before keeping on to lead post. Claims if able to back that up here from 4 lb higher mark. Beat today's rival Below Deck by a nose over 5f two weeks ago, high draw a concern. |

4th (9) (18/1 -29%) Clarinbridge |
18/1(-29%) | (9) Clarinbridge 18/1, First run since leaving Noel C. Kelly when creditable fourth of 14 in handicap at this course (7f, 28/1) 14 days ago. Needs a couple of these to falter. 0-16 on AW, two 7f wins on turf, good run here a fortnight ago was over 7f. |

3/1(+63%) | (6) Hero Of The Hour 3/1, 3-time C&D winner. Creditable fourth of 14 in handicap at this course (7f, 11/2) 14 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals. All three wins gained over C&D here in the early months of last year, each-way chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (7) (11/4 -10%) Below Deck |
11/4(-10%) | (7) Below Deck 11/4, 3/1, good nose second of 14 to Phil's Dream in handicap at this course (5f) 19 days ago. Has good chance on form. Drawn 14 when beaten a nose by Phils's Dream last time, may take advantage of low draw now. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (1) (8/1 -14%) No Speed Limit |
8/1(-14%) | (1) No Speed Limit 8/1, 4-time course winner. Latest win here in November. 9/2, best not judged on the run when 3¼ lengths sixth of 14 to Phil's Dream in handicap at this course (5f) 19 days ago, missing break. Can make presence felt. Solid overall record at this venue, in good form lately, stumbled at the start last time. |

9th (8) (20/1 +0%) Adams Barbour |
20/1(+0%) | (8) Adams Barbour 20/1, 7-time course winner. 7 lengths twelfth of 14 to Phil's Dream in handicap at this course (5f, 16/1) 19 days ago, stumbling soon after start and never involved. Still, others preferred for win purposes on balance. Losing run goes back to a course hat trick in January/February 2022, plenty to find. |

10th (10) (80/1 -220%) Florence Thompson |
80/1(-220%) | (10) Florence Thompson 80/1, Remains a maiden after 46 Flat runs. Seventh of 8 in maiden at this course (5f, 200/1) 14 days ago. Now a 46-race maiden; has been struggling in maidens, this affords her a better chance. |

11th (12) (40/1 -60%) Patsy Fagan |
40/1(-60%) | (12) Patsy Fagan 40/1, 22/1, fifteenth of 16 in handicap at Cork (6f, good) in July, racing off the pace and never dangerous. Absent subsequently and market may prove best guide. Six-time winner in Britain, has been regressive in various yards since coming to Ireland. |

12th (3) (66/1 -230%) The Stray Sod |
66/1(-230%) | (3) The Stray Sod 66/1, 25/1, thirteenth of 16 in handicap at Gowran (7f, good to soft). Off 8 months. Never in first three, fourth of seven 13 months ago her best effort; lacks a recent run. |

66/1(-32%) | (16) Gianh River 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. First run since leaving S. M. Duffy when tenth of 14 in maiden at this course (7f, 150/1) 19 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Has work to do. Reserve 2. Second reserve, weak form in five starts, faded on recent stable debut, up against it. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14th (14) (16/1 -14%) Zig Zag Zyggy |
16/1(-14%) | (14) Zig Zag Zyggy 16/1, Course winner. Twelfth of 14 in handicap (9/1) at this C&D 29 days ago, weakening over 1f out. Others have achieved more. Second to Jazzy Dancer over C&D in December, not as good on two more recent visits. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HERO OF THE HOUR won three times over C&D early last year and has been generally consistent this winter, dropping down to an attractive mark. The seven-year-old gelding didn't have much luck in running last time over 7f and hopefully there is enough pace on to set him up for a strong finish. Phil's Dream caused a 50/1 shock when getting up on the line to pip the admirably consistent Below Deck over the minimum trip last month, with a number of these rivals including No Speed Limit, who stumbled leaving the stalls, further behind. No Speed Limit had Jazzy Dancer a length back in third when narrowly denied previously over this trip, but both need to overcome wide draws here.
BELOW DECK again went agonisingly close to breaking her duck when reeled in late by re-opposing Phil's Dream over the minimum trip here 3 weeks ago and with the step back up to 6f holding no fears, she could be up to reversing those placings on these revised terms. No Speed Limit and the aforementioned Phil's Dream are others to consider. Jazzy Dancer is another in the mix.
The consistent BELOW DECK has a good chance of exploiting the number one berth.

1st (9) (11/2 +27%) Art Decco |
11/2(+27%) | (9) Art Decco 11/2, Course winner who posted a good third on return at Chepstow (23.6f, heavy) and, while he failed to back that up at Exeter subsequently, cheekpieces are applied now and his mark is appealing. Poor show at Exeter (3m, heavy; bad mistake at the tenth) on New Year's Day; headgear now. |

12/1(-9%) | (1) Dr Kananga 12/1, 11/1, pulled up in handicap chase at Lingfield (28.8f, good to soft) 24 days ago, losing place from thirteenth. Cheekpieces on for 1st time with work to do. Thrown in on form in early 2022; nothing resembling that since; cheekpieces are added. |

3rd (6) (11/2 -38%) Haut Folin |
11/2(-38%) | (6) Haut Folin 11/2, Forged clear to land a gamble at Ffos Las on return and shaped well when second of 5 in handicap chase at Ludlow (25.6f, heavy, 5/4) 40 days ago, finding test too much. Not taken lightly eased 1 lb. Won at Ffos Las (3m, heavy) on return; second on both starts since, albeit beaten 20l. |

4th (4) (16/1 -129%) Tip Top Mountain |
16/1(-129%) | (4) Tip Top Mountain 16/1, Course winner who came in a creditable third of 4 in handicap chase at Plumpton (25.7f, soft) 23 days ago. Can give a good account. Four wins last season; not disgraced on reappearance but well below form last time. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (5/1 +55%) King Turgeon |
5/1(+55%) | (2) King Turgeon 5/1, Course winner. Latest win in chase at Exeter in November. 12/1, only sixth of 9 in handicap chase at Leicester (22.7f, heavy) 22 days ago so needs a couple of these to falter. Won at Exeter (3m, good to soft) but he's been beaten about 25l in his two starts since. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (4/1 +38%) Earth King |
4/1(+38%) | (5) Earth King 4/1, Fairly useful winner at 18f over hurdles. Yet to match that form in this sphere, fifth of 13 in handicap chase (17/2) at Newbury (22.4f, soft) 22 days ago, going in snatches. Others more persuasive. Easily best of four chase attempts on penultimate start; some stamina in the family. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (5/1 +41%) Pilot Show |
5/1(+41%) | (8) Pilot Show 5/1, In good form this season, runner-up on 3 consecutive starts, until pulled up at Warwick last time out. Sort to bounce back. Runner-up on first three runs this season before a poor show at Warwick latest. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (8/1 +20%) Eclair De Guye |
8/1(+20%) | (10) Eclair De Guye 8/1, Winless for 3 years and not at his best in three runs this term, tried in change of headgear when third of 6 in handicap chase at Southwell (24.3f, soft) 28 days ago. Visor back on. Has career-low mark; only one run (last April) in the last year gives him much of a chance. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (14/1 -65%) Well Dick |
14/1(-65%) | (3) Well Dick 14/1, Made a bright start over hurdles last term, making it 2 wins from 4 starts when landing match at Hexham (23.3f) in March. Chasing type on appearance (Irish point winner) but pulled up at Uttoxeter on fencing bow last month. Worth another chance. 305 days off before pulled up on chase debut at Uttoxeter (3m2f, heavy); cheekpieces now. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
PILOT SHOW had been enjoying a consistent season until his latest effort when pulled up at Wincanton. That said, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the seven-year-old bounce back from that display to gain a second career victory. Haut Folin is capable of being in the mix based on his recent performances, while others for the shortlist include Earth King and Eclair De Guye.
Course scorer ART DECCO figures on a handy mark so is worth forgiving his lesser effort at Exeter now cheekpieces are applied and gets the vote. Ludlow runner-up Haut Folin is feared most, although both Well Dick and Pilot Show could have a say too in a very open contest.
Not one of these runners showed their form last time out. A chance is taken on GERICO VILLE on his third attempt over fences.

15/2(-15%) | (4) Glance From Clover 15/2, Modest winner at 26f over hurdles and first form over fences (equipped with blinkers) when second of 11 in C&D handicap 30 days ago. Not discounted with a repeat. Ran big race in defeat over C&D when blinkers were added last month; in the mix. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (8) (10/1 +38%) Barrowmount |
10/1(+38%) | (8) Barrowmount 10/1, Sole win came in Stratford maiden hurdle in May 2021. Mixed bag since but ran best race over fences when fourth of 9 in handicap chase at Taunton (23f) 46 days ago. Operating from a basement mark if he can build on that here. Ran okay at Taunton last month but this regressive 8yo has not won since spring 2021. |

3rd (1) (7/2 +56%) Chris Cool |
7/2(+56%) | (1) Chris Cool 7/2, Made winning return in handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (25f, good to soft) and even better form when second off 6 lb higher at Bangor (23f, heavy). Might have found next run coming too soon but given a break since. Potentially on a good mark back over fences/down in class but prone to mistakes. Won over hurdles in the autumn but comes with some risk on today's return to chasing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (6) (4/1 -60%) Time For A Pint |
4/1(-60%) | (6) Time For A Pint 4/1, Irish point winner who justified support to open his account over fences at the second attempt at Catterick (25.2f) last month. Got no further than the first in follow-up bid at Southwell 12 days ago but he remains one to be interested in. Built upon promising chasing debut when clearcut winner at Catterick last month; respected. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (3) (9/1 -227%) Natty Night |
9/1(-227%) | (3) Natty Night 9/1, Ran well when runner-up here (20.9f) and went one place better to open his account over fences at Leicester (20f) 3 weeks ago, asserting final 100 yds. Not out of things up 4 lb for all he needs to confirm his stamina for this sort of trip. Has some quirks but opened chasing account at Leicester three weeks ago; up 4lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (10/1 -25%) Pebbly New Moon |
10/1(-25%) | (2) Pebbly New Moon 10/1, Lightly-raced hurdler for Oliver Sherwood/Richard Bandey. Off 2 years, shaped much better than the bare result sent chasing in first-time cheekpieces after 2 years off when sixth of 11 in handicap at Uttoxeter in December, still narrowly in front when walked through 3 out. Can build on that. In process of running well on stable/chase debut before jumping error cooked his goose. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (7) (13/2 +7%) Seymour Promise |
13/2(+7%) | (7) Seymour Promise 13/2, Long-standing maiden who has fallen a long way in the weights this season and ran best race for some time when second at Wincanton (25f) last month, closing down idling winner close home. Not sure to be in same form here, though. Seemingly back in form on latest outing but is 0-19 now and others appeal more. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (14/1 +30%) Bob Bank |
14/1(+30%) | (9) Bob Bank 14/1, Well beaten in bumpers/hurdles and similar story having switched to chasing in the autumn, pulled up at Ffos Las (23.8f) in November. Blinkers reached for back from 3 months off but only market support would make him of interest. Well beaten in three handicap chases in the autumn but connections are persisting. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (15/2 -7%) Getbazoutofhere |
15/2(-7%) | (5) Getbazoutofhere 15/2, Winless over hurdles but she comes here in good nick, matching best form when fourth of 10 in handicap chase at Leicester (22.7f, heavy) on debut over fences 3 weeks ago. May build on that here. Consistent maiden who made solid start to chasing career last month; likely contender. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (25/1 +0%) Wide To West |
25/1(+0%) | (10) Wide To West 25/1, Maiden who showed more than he had over hurdles despite finishing last of 5 on return/chase debut at Lingfield (23.5f) in November but unable to build on that when pulled up at Uttoxeter (3m) the following month. Others preferred from out of the weights. Had wind op. Pulled up on latest outing and 7lb wrong here; needs wind op to enable improvement. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
SEYMOUR PROMISE bounced back to form with a highly creditable runner-up effort at Wincanton and the eight-year-old still looks well treated off 3lb lower than his hurdles mark. He can get off the mark at the 20th time of asking, with improving Leicester winner Natty Night a big danger, as well as Time For A Pint, who was a convincing scorer at Catterick on his penultimate start.
TIME FOR A PINT got no further than the first on his latest outing at Southwell 12 days ago yet he'd previously looked one to keep on side at this level when scoring with a bit to spare at Catterick and he earns the vote provided his jumping holds up this time. Pebbly New Moon shaped much better than the bare result on yard/chase debut at Uttoxeter in December and better can be expected. Chris Cool back over fences and Natty Night complete the shortlist.
There ought to be further improvement to come from TIME FOR A PINT, who won with a fair bit of authority at Catterick last month.

1st (1) (8/13 +62%) Andalusian Star |
8/13(+62%) | (1) Andalusian Star 8/13, Invincible Spirit filly. 14/1, offered something to work on when seventh of 10 in maiden at Leopardstown (7.3f, good) on debut in July. In good hands and likely she can do better now embarking on 3-y-o campaign. Respected with cheekpieces now enlisted. Decent pedigree, ran only once at two, trainer should have a good idea of what is required. |

2nd (5) (11/4 -99%) Pepper Noir |
11/4(-99%) | (5) Pepper Noir 11/4, Outstrip filly who improved on debut form when second of 13 in maiden at this course (1m) 12 days ago, no match for winner. Rates a live player with a repeat. Promising second over 1m 12 days ago though beaten 5l by stablemate of Andalusian Star. |

11/2(+21%) | (6) Posh Maisie 11/2, Dandy Man filly. 33/1 and tongue strap on, eighth of 10 in minor event at this course (6f) on debut 29 days ago, missing break and never dangerous. That experience ought not to have been wasted on her. Lost ground at the start when 33-1 on 6f debut here last month, extra furlong should help. |

4th (4) (7/1 -17%) Mm Dragonfly |
7/1(-17%) | (4) Mm Dragonfly 7/1, Once-raced filly. Sixth of 14 in maiden (10/1) at this course (8f) on debut 33 days ago, keeping on without being unduly punished. Type to do better, particularly in handicaps. Stayed on into midfield over 1m here on debut, shorter trip may not be ideal. |

5th (8) (100/1 -203%) Waystar |
100/1(-203%) | (8) Waystar 100/1, Twice-raced filly. 150/1, thirteenth of 14 in maiden at this C&D 19 days ago. Can only be watched. Finished behind Pepper Noir on debut, failed to improve last time when never involved. |

7th (3) (100/1 -300%) Layoftheland |
100/1(-300%) | (3) Layoftheland 100/1, Once-raced filly. 80/1, showed a bit when tenth of 14 in maiden at Listowel (6.3f, good to soft) on debut back in June. Absent since though and low-grade handicaps likely to be more her bag in due course. Dropped away in the final furlong of a Listowel maiden last September, best watched. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (2) (150/1 -127%) Get Your Groove On |
150/1(-127%) | (2) Get Your Groove On 150/1, Twice-raced filly. 250/1, thirteenth of 14 in maiden at this course (8f) 33 days ago, weakening early in the straight. Can only be watched. Has finished with only one rival behind her on both starts, safe to rule out. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
POSH MAISIE was slowly away on debut and showed her inexperience before keeping on one-paced in the straight in the race won by Perfect Judgement here last month. That 6f event has been working out quite well since and with the benefit of that run and this extra furlong, she should put up a bold show. Pepper Noir had a couple of these behind when showing promise on debut just before Christmas and then beat all bar hotpot Nerano over a mile earlier this month. Mm Dragonfly was noted keeping on in mid-division on debut over a mile last month and looks sure to progress from that experience, while Andalusian Star is another who could take a big step forward from her debut at Leopardstown last summer. Any market move for Varly would be interesting.
ANDALUSIAN STAR appeals on paper and offered something to work on when seventh in a Leopardstown maiden back in July. In good hands and open to improvement, she could be worth siding with to take a step forward on return. Pepper Noir looks a big threat following her second here 12 days ago, with Posh Maisie completing the shortlist.
Joseph O'Brien saddled the 5l winner of the maiden in which Pepper Noir was second 12 days ago and can score with Andalusian Star

2nd (9) (7/2 -56%) Torneo |
7/2(-56%) | (9) Torneo 7/2, Fairly useful winner on Flat in France for Jean-Claude Rouget. Opened his account over hurdles in facile fashion in a weak race at Wetherby (2m, heavy) recently and looks a very interesting runner on handicap debut with 4-y-o allowance. Runaway win from the front when 8-13 in six-runner juvenile hurdle at Wetherby (2m, soft). |

3rd (8) (150/1 -50%) Stopherandgo |
150/1(-50%) | (8) Stopherandgo 150/1, Took a big step forward from debut to land a Wincanton novice in March. Backed that up when second at Ludlow but has cut little ice in handicaps since, including for current yard. Uncompetitive in her three handicaps, one for former yard and two for her new one. |

18/1(-100%) | (1) Nashville Nipper 18/1, Landed 2m Plumpton handicap hurdle in January 2022 and proved he retains all his ability back from a long absence when just failing in a 3-runner event over C&D on Boxing Day. Not quite in same form when third at Sandown 19 days ago. 660 days off before this season; beaten a neck on reappearance but not so good last time. |

6/4(+50%) | (3) He's A Latchico 6/4, Fairly useful on the Flat and improving all the time as a hurdler, winning a brace of handicaps at this venue last summer and even better form in finding only one too good the last twice. Big player. Raised another 4lb but he's still going the right way and one to consider. |

7th (2) (10/1 -100%) Heure De Gloire |
10/1(-100%) | (2) Heure De Gloire 10/1, Has gradually worked her way back to form this season and returned to winning ways in 6-runner event at Ffos Las (15.8f, heavy) 13 days ago, racing clear and coming home unchallenged. This is tougher but she's respected as a last-time-out winner. Easily made all under 7lb claimer at Ffos Las (2m, heavy) 13 days ago; back up 6lb. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (7/1 -8%) Bucephalus |
7/1(-8%) | (5) Bucephalus 7/1, Fairly useful 1¼m Flat winner for current yard who is yet to finish out of the frame in 5 starts over hurdles, albeit failing to fully see things out having again taken a keen hold when third at Plumpton (15.9f, soft) last month. Likely to run well once more with Cobden taking over in the saddle. Seen mostly on Flat; solid record in his five-race hurdles career, all minor honours. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (6) (200/1 -203%) Tying The Knot |
200/1(-203%) | (6) Tying The Knot 200/1, Much improved when winning a juvenile hurdle at Hereford (2m) for Alan King last winter but underwhelming since, including on the Flat last summer. Maiden winner (2m, soft) last January; struggled badly all three starts in this code since. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
HE'S A LATCHICO went up 4lb for finishing second to a smart type of Paul Nicholls' at Lingfield's Winter Million fixture and without a rival of that calibre in the line-up, Gary Moore's charge makes plenty of appeal in his bid to go one better. Torneo built on his third to Sir Gino at Kempton when scoring with the minimum of fuss at Wetherby and he is likely to pose a strong threat on his handicap bow. Heure De Gloire, Bucephalus and Copper Cove appeal most of the remainder.
HE'S A LATCHICO shaped well in finishing clear of the rest with a fellow improver at Lingfield last month and is a confident selection to maintain his unbeaten record at this track. Fairly useful Flat winner Torneo is easily most interesting of the opposition now switched to a handicap armed with a handy 4-y-o weight allowance. Bucephalus is proving consistent and makes most appeal of the rest.
Copper Cove, He's A Latchico and Heure De Gloire are highly respected but may prove vulnerable to the ex-French 4yo TORNEO.

1st (3) (2/1 +50%) Divine Inspiration |
2/1(+50%) | (3) Divine Inspiration 2/1, Irish point winner who made a promising start over fences prior to unseating at Exeter 55 days ago. Has the potential for a bigger effort after a break, so definite player. Fair efforts on his first three chase starts and he's not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (10) (7/1 +72%) School For Scandal |
7/1(+72%) | (10) School For Scandal 7/1, Belatedly opened his account when scoring from the front at Taunton on final start of last season. Good second at Fakenham on return but well below form since. Tried in cheekpieces. Has struggled on last three starts but runs off last winning mark and cheekpieces may help. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (18/1 -29%) Family Pot |
18/1(-29%) | (7) Family Pot 18/1, C&D winner. Respectable third on his Hereford reappearance in October but below par since. Others make more make more appeal. Two-time course winner but tailed off on last three starts and a revival is required. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (4) (9/2 -35%) Supasunrise |
9/2(-35%) | (4) Supasunrise 9/2, Winner at Warwick in November and comes here on the back of a good second of 9 in handicap chase (11/2) at Leicester (20.1f, soft) 35 days ago. Can give another good account. Won at Warwick in November and a good second the last twice; firmly in calculations. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (9) (9/4 +10%) Amalfi Skyline |
9/4(+10%) | (9) Amalfi Skyline 9/4, Lightly raced and left previous form behind when scoring from out of the weights over C&D 41 days ago. Can do better still, so warrants plenty of respect in a race where most have something to prove. Won over C&D last month on second chase start and the runner-up has since gone one better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (9/1 +36%) Bring The Action |
9/1(+36%) | (6) Bring The Action 9/1, Sole success came in Wetherby handicap chase (24.2f) early in 2022 but he did show the benefit of his reappearance run over hurdles when second over fences at Doncaster (26f). Yet to build on that, however. Regressive profile but on a dangerous mark; could be a threat when back on better ground. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (8) (28/1 -155%) Ballycorr |
28/1(-155%) | (8) Ballycorr 28/1, Justified support as he won his first race of any description at Sedgefield in May 2022. Sub-par efforts on next 2 starts, though, and has a 15-month absence to overcome. Missed all of 2023 and may be best watched on return to action; sole win came over 3m3f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|F| (5) (18/1 +45%) Orange Diamond |
18/1(+45%) | (5) Orange Diamond 18/1, Fairly useful handicap hurdler in France. Pulled up all 4 starts over fences for this yard, however. Two-time French hurdle winner but pulled up over fences on his four British starts. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (2) (33/1 -633%) Mozzaro |
33/1(-633%) | (2) Mozzaro 33/1, Mixed record over hurdles but took well to chasing, completing a hat-trick at Uttoxeter 21 months ago. Not seen since, which is an obvious concern, but worthy of consideration if solid in the betting. 3-3 over fences; absent since May 2022 but not ruled out; the betting may be informative. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (200/1 -100%) Autumn Blaze |
200/1(-100%) | (12) Autumn Blaze 200/1, Seems of little account. Hard to fancy from well out of the weights. Has shown very little in her 8-race career and pulled up on recent chase debut at Ffos Las. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Supasunrise was over six lengths clear of the third in this grade over 2m4f last time and he has a solid chance off 3lb higher. However, preference is for AMALFI SKYLINE, who took a nice step forward from his sixth at Ludlow on his return to score over C&D last month. That performance stands out as the best recent form on offer and he could be the one to beat off 6lb higher. Mozzaro warrants a market check on his return from a long absence.
AMALFI SKYLINE did well to get up from an unpromising position over C&D last time and he's capable of better still, so he gets the marginal vote over Divine Inspiration, who remains with potential as a chaser. Supasunrise is another to consider.
Unexposed 5yo AMALFI SKYLINE (nap) beat a next-time-out winner when scoring over C&D last month and he can defy today's 6lb higher mark.

1st (1) (1/3 +34%) Beautiful Dawn |
1/3(+34%) | (1) Beautiful Dawn 1/3, Twice-raced winner. 6/5, won 14-runner maiden at this course (8f) 33 days ago, driven out. Type to go on improving and likely to add to her tally on handicap debut. Comfortable winner over C&D on second outing, can give weight to two maidens here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1st (2) (6/1 +0%) Rebelsontherun |
6/1(+0%) | (2) Rebelsontherun 6/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 25/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, bit below form fifth of 13 in maiden at this C&D 63 days ago. Makes handicap debut. Not dismissed. Has shown a fair level of form in 7f maidens but does not appear progressive. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (4/1 -45%) Blue Soul |
4/1(-45%) | (3) Blue Soul 4/1, Lightly-raced maiden. Respectable sixth of 10 in handicap (5/1) at this course (8f) 19 days ago. Looks the danger to Beautiful Dawn. Rider's claim should give her a fighting chance against the less exposed Beautiful Dawn. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
A disappointing turnout of just three runners for this three-year-old handicap and BEAUTIFUL DAWN may prove difficult to beat. The Joseph O'Brien-trained filly took a nice step forward from her debut over 6f to justify favouritism in a mile maiden here last month. The daughter of Starspangledbanner was prominent throughout to win with a bit in hand and shouldn't be inconvenienced by this drop back in distance. Blue Soul has probably shown her best form over this C&D, including when a close third to Enchanted Garden in a handicap on her penultimate outing. Rebelsontherun also showed some promise here over 7f when keeping on behind Seti, but may not have appreciated cheekpieces when ridden more prominently last time.
BEAUTIFUL DAWN stepped forward from her debut to open her account at this course a month ago and a mark of 78 probably underestimates her, so she's preferred to Blue Soul.
C&D winner BEAUTIFUL DAWN does not seem harshly treated with an opening mark of 78 and should cope with the two maidens

1st (7) (5/4 +72%) Valirann Gold |
5/4(+72%) | (7) Valirann Gold 5/4, Opened his account in a Chepstow handicap off this mark last January and best effort since when runner-up at Fontwell on Boxing Day. Out of the weights on both subsequent starts, so this looks more realistic. Sole win last January, from 20 races under rules; second here three starts back. |

2nd (2) (9/2 +0%) Flamelco |
9/2(+0%) | (2) Flamelco 9/2, A fairly useful winning hurdler in France who posted much his best effort for his current yard when third of 13 in 2m handicap chase at Lingfield on penultimate start. Pulled up at Plumpton since but too soon to write off. Third of 13 at Lingfield (2m, good to soft) but then pulled up at Plumpton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (6) (9/2 -29%) West Orchard |
9/2(-29%) | (6) West Orchard 9/2, Jumped well when successful at Plumpton in November and back on track when runner-up at Wincanton last time. Hard to rely on but can't be dismissed in a thin race. Made all at Plumpton in November; partial recovery in these cheekpieces on latest outing. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (5) (9/2 +36%) Lightonthewing |
9/2(+36%) | (5) Lightonthewing 9/2, Doubled his tally over fences with a likeable front-running display at this track a year ago. Has shaped as if in need of the run on both outings this season, so might have been primed for this. Two wins (one here) from four chase completions last term; back to his last winning mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (8) (10/1 +17%) Millies Mite |
10/1(+17%) | (8) Millies Mite 10/1, Long-standing maiden who wasn't at her best at Plumpton last month. Others make more appeal. 0-26; bits of form give her a squeak, including her thirds on all three runs here. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (1) (28/1 -331%) Call Off The Dogs |
28/1(-331%) | (1) Call Off The Dogs 28/1, Career best when winning 5-runner handicap chase at Plumpton (25.7f, good, 6/5). Off almost 2 years since and 1 of 3 runners for yard here. Market might be best guide to his claims. Won at Plumpton (3m1f, good) on latest start but that was in March 2022; 6lb higher today. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
In a race lacking depth, Wincanton runner-up West Orchard has more going for him than most. First-time cheekpieces appeared to spark his interest that day and Joe Tizzard's inmate should give another good account of himself. However, course scorer LIGHTONTHEWING has returned to his last winning mark and he could take some pegging back if allowed an easy lead. Mortens Leam also makes some appeal on this drop in distance.
Gary Moore holds quite a strong hand and, while WALK IN THE WILD hasn't been in top form, he's a likely candidate to bounce back after a wind op/in a first-time tongue tie, so he's the tentative choice. West Orchard arrives on the back of a solid showing and is feared along with Valirann Gold.
With apparently no solid options, WALK IN THE WILD gets the vote following wind surgery and with his tongue tied for the first time.

1st (5) (9/4 +25%) Lady Balko |
9/4(+25%) | (5) Lady Balko 9/4, Failed to trouble the judge in a trio of novice hurdles but this former point winner has shown much better signs since sent handicapping, improving again when second at Leicester (20.5, heavy) 2 weeks ago. May do better still and has to enter calculations. Would probably have won at Leicester (2m4f, soft) with a better round of jumping. |

2nd (7) (12/1 -140%) Caught A Vibe |
12/1(-140%) | (7) Caught A Vibe 12/1, Placed on 2 of 3 starts in Irish points. Well held on qualifying runs and failed to find any immediate improvement for the switch to handicaps at Fakenham in December but it remains very early days. Placed in Irish points; signs of progress in her last two hurdles; returns to further. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (11) (16/1 -33%) Damask |
16/1(-33%) | (11) Damask 16/1, Poor maiden who turned in her best effort of the season when fourth of 11 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (15.8f, heavy) 13 days ago. Significantly back up in trip. Ran her best race yet when coming from off the pace to finish a close fourth at Ffos Las. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (2) (6/1 +50%) Just Go For It |
6/1(+50%) | (2) Just Go For It 6/1, C&D winner who again ran creditably when fifth of 16 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (19f, good to soft) 8 days ago. Likely to continue in form. Could do with the ground drying out but this veteran needs shortlisting in current form. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (8/1 -60%) Another Day Out |
8/1(-60%) | (1) Another Day Out 8/1, Winning Irish pointer who got back on track when second of 5 in handicap hurdle at Sandown (19.8f, heavy) in December. Wasn't in anything like the same form at Leicester subsequently, though. Cheekpieces on for 1st time. Player on her Sandown second but does need to bounce back from Leicester disappointment. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (4/1 +71%) Emma Hamilton |
4/1(+71%) | (8) Emma Hamilton 4/1, Well held in maiden/novice hurdles but did show fair form on the pick of her 2 bumper efforts and no surprise were she to improve from a lowly mark now handicapping. She's entitled to show more now handicapping at a modest level. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|U| (6) (10/1 -43%) Kimberley Eve |
10/1(-43%) | (6) Kimberley Eve 10/1, Built on her improved Ffos Las second in October when scoring in good style at Ludlow (23.8f, heavy) in December. However, wasn't in the same form from an 8 lb higher mark at Exeter on New Year's Day. Heavy ground when tailed off latest; 7lb higher than for her Ludlow win but that was easy. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (4) (8/1 -100%) Selkirk Grace |
8/1(-100%) | (4) Selkirk Grace 8/1, Fair form shown in bumpers and made more impact than previously over hurdles sent handicapping when runner-up in 13-runner event at Taunton (16.5f) 37 days ago. Isn't sure to be suited by the much longer trip, though. Nearly won over 2m at Taunton; longer trip this time but she's probably improving. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (3) (22/1 -38%) Atjima |
22/1(-38%) | (3) Atjima 22/1, Bumper winner who opened her account over hurdles in a 2½m Ffos Las handicap in March. Not disgraced final 2 outings last season but looked a hard ride when well held on her return at Taunton in November. Blinkers back on. She was reluctant to line up when tailed off after a break at Taunton. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (9) (22/1 +33%) Orbys River |
22/1(+33%) | (9) Orbys River 22/1, Failed to complete both starts in Irish points and only a modicum of promise to glean on second of 3 starts in novice hurdles so far this winter. Longer trip/switch to handicaps needs to have positive effect. Makes handicap debut here and the ground has been heavy in her qualifying runs. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (10) (33/1 -65%) Well Paid Soldier |
33/1(-65%) | (10) Well Paid Soldier 33/1, Maiden who ran badly when pulled up in handicap hurdle at Leicester (20.5f, heavy) 14 days ago. Has work to do from 2 lb out of the weights. It was all very lack-lustre at Leicester when behind Lady Balko. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (12) (40/1 -21%) Firefly Lane |
40/1(-21%) | (12) Firefly Lane 40/1, Winning pointer but has achieved little so far under Rules. Can only be watched back from 8 months off. Still a maiden under rules and has offered little in three handicaps over hurdles. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (13) (50/1 -150%) Lady Corrib |
50/1(-150%) | (13) Lady Corrib 50/1, Runner-up both completed starts in Irish points but has made no impact all 4 starts over hurdles. Visor goes on for handicap bow. Unless transformed by the visor she's very much up against it from so far out of weights. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (14) (150/1 -127%) Regal 'n Bold |
150/1(-127%) | (14) Regal 'n Bold 150/1, Showed nothing in 2 bumpers/trio of novice hurdles in 2022. Upped appreciably in trip for handicap debut and hard to make a case for from well out of the weights. Makes handicap debut from long way out of the weights and after a long absence. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
LADY BALKO may have failed to justify favouritism on her latest outing but she ran with huge credit to only be denied by just under two lengths into second. David Pipe's mare seems to be improving steadily and she looks the one to be on. Kimberley Eve, who struck on her penultimate start at Ludlow, will need to put her most recent underwhelming effort at Exeter behind her, but she could well do so off a 1lb lower rating. Of the remainder, Another Day Out appeals most in first-time cheekpieces.
LADY BALKO has upped her game since sent handicapping and, with further progress possible at this trip, she gets the nod to open her account under Rules. Emma Hamilton has finished well held on all her 3 outings over hurdles but could prove a different proposition on handicap debut based on her bumper exploits. Veteran Just Go For It is likely to give another good account and may prove best of the rest.
David Pipe's LADY BALKO would probably have won last time had she jumped better and yet she was still well clear of the rest.

50/1(-213%) | (10) Angel In The Sky 50/1, C&D winner. 33/1, thirteenth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 26 days ago so needs to bounce back. Soundly beaten in two handicaps after 10 months off; makes little appeal at present. |

The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
HINEMOA won twice over C&D early last year and has given encouragement that she can add to that tally here this winter. The lightly-raced eight-year-old was just denied by Rhythm And Tyne in December and kept on behind Secret Rock last time. Anjah is still a maiden after 28 starts, but merits respect on his second to Satono Chevalier in this corresponding race 12 months ago and has shaped well on both starts this winter. Darkened had Neddies Boy a length and a half behind when runner-up to Sky Legend over an extended 10 furlongs last month and both horses have been claimed into different yards since. Alphonse Le Grande, Curious Bride and Nusra are others to consider.
Lots with chances but DARKENED signalled he's ready to end a losing run when a very good recent second here so edges the vote. C&D winner Hinemoa is feared most with Neddies Boy and Alphonse Le Grande also in the mix.
The one to beat should be NEDDIES BOY on his first start for Ray Cody with Dylan Browne McMonagle booked

BOBALOT appeared revitalised by the combination of a 59-day break and return to hurdles when scoring with something in hand over C&D last month. Ben Clarke's gelding still remains in class 5 company and he could make light work of a 7lb rise in the handicap. Fellow last-time-out winners Sangiovese and Bitsnbuckles are sure to have their supporters in the market too, in a race that is likely to work out well.
Gary Moore's SANGIOVESE appeals as the sort to keep on improving now sent into handicaps and can make light of 7 lb rise for his emphatic Southwell success. Olly Murphy's Huntingdon victor Bitsnbuckles also has better days ahead of him and rates the obvious threat with C&D winner Bobalot and handicap debutant How And Ever in the mix too in an intriguing contest.
Sangiovese impressed in the end at Southwell but went in snatches. Preference is for BITSNBUCKLES (nap) after his Huntingdon win.

5/2(-33%) | (1) How Impressive 5/2, With the headgear left off, career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Lingfield (7f, 2/1) 9 days ago, drawing clear final 1f. Leading contender under a penalty. 5lb penalty to carry after career best win; similar effort would make him tough to beat.. |

4/1(+0%) | (2) Plastic Paddy 4/1, Step back in right direction when third of 7 in handicap (10/1) at this C&D 11 days ago, despite being unsuited by the steady pace. Cheekpieces back on and he merits consideration from his current mark. Took a step back in the right direction over C&D latest; not ruled out.. |

3rd (4) (18/1 -80%) Triggered |
18/1(-80%) | (4) Triggered 18/1, Four wins from 15 runs last year. Not discredited when fifth of 6 in handicap at Lingfield (7f, 14/1) 19 days ago, left poorly placed. Can give his running again. Has run well here but needs to step up on his latest Lingfield performance to figure.. |

4th (3) (15/2 -88%) Cue's Beau |
15/2(-88%) | (3) Cue's Beau 15/2, After 8 months off, probably needed the run when third of 4 in handicap (5/1) at this C&D 23 days ago. Could still have more to offer as she makes only her second start in a handicap. Third over C&D last month; may be capable of raising the bar this time; player.. |

5th (9) (4/1 +38%) Hul Ah Bah Loo |
4/1(+38%) | (9) Hul Ah Bah Loo 4/1, Successful at Lingfield in November. Soon back to form at this course (8f) on his last 2 starts, third of 10 in handicap (9/2) 11 days ago. Can make his presence felt having dropped back down to his last winning mark. Acts here but this return to 7f leaves him with more questions to answer.. |

6th (5) (13/2 +28%) Airshow |
13/2(+28%) | (5) Airshow 13/2, Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Back down in grade, ran well when third of 10 in handicap (11/1) at Southwell (7.1f) 9 days ago. Task is now to back up his latest effort. On a handy mark, as he showed last time at Southwell (7f, Tapeta); should be competitive.. |

7th (10) (18/1 +45%) Devizes |
18/1(+45%) | (10) Devizes 18/1, Won twice at this course last year, over 16f on the second occasion. However, has been below form since returning from a break this winter, sixth of 10 in handicap here (8f, 50/1) 11 days ago. Well below his best in recent starts and a further drop back to 7f does not look ideal.. |

12/1(+52%) | (11) Further Measure 12/1, Not disgraced when fourth of 10 in handicap (16/1) at this course (8f) 11 days ago. Mark continues to fall but more needed to take advantage. Struggling on his last four starts and not sure he needs a step back up in grade.. |

9th (8) (25/1 +50%) Kessaar Power |
25/1(+50%) | (8) Kessaar Power 25/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2023. Below form last 3 starts, again failing to beat a rival in 6-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (7f, 66/1) 13 days ago. Others more persuasive. Inconsistent since last win and his last two starts leave him with plenty to prove.. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (7) (50/1 -52%) Many A Year |
50/1(-52%) | (7) Many A Year 50/1, Form has gone the wrong way since going handicapping on the all-weather, tenth of 11 at Wolverhampton (6.1f, 40/1) 88 days ago. Has something to prove at present. Well beaten on both starts since joining this trainer; dropped 3lb.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
HOW IMPRESSIVE romped home over this trip at Lingfield last week and is an appealing option with Brandon Wilkie's 3lb claim offsetting some of the 5lb penalty imposed for that comfortable success. Local Bay was just over three lengths away in fourth that day and looks unlikely to reverse the form, even on the revised terms. Plastic Paddy and the unexposed Cue's Beau may pose the selection the most problems, with the former feared most now 2lb below his last winning mark.
HOW IMPRESSIVE proved better than ever when returning to winning ways at Lingfield 9 days ago and a penalty might not be enough to prevent him from following up. Hul Ah Bah Loo has made the frame at this course on his last 2 starts and could be thereabouts once more, while Plastic Paddy is also considered.
The manner of the win by HOW IMPRESSIVE at Lingfeld last time suggests he can defy a 5lb penalty.

1st (4) (13/8 +87%) Soldierofthestorm |
13/8(+87%) | (4) Soldierofthestorm 13/8, Comfortable winner of a Warwick maiden (2m) on his hurdles debut in May. Hasn't gone on from that effort in 3 starts since, albeit not discredited when fourth of 12 on his handicap bow at Doncaster (19.4f) in December. Needs to find more. Outpaced from penultimate flight when well-held fourth on handicap debut. |

2nd (8) (12/1 +14%) Iron D'ex |
12/1(+14%) | (8) Iron D'ex 12/1, Matched the pick of last season's efforts when second on return at Bangor (16.7f) in October, but was tailed off at Aintree later that month. Soon back on track when sixth of 13 on handicap debut at this C&D in November, so he's one to consider with cheekpieces applied. Just a respectable sixth over C&D on handicap debut in November; cheekpieces now added. |

3rd (5) (12/1 -71%) Faded Fantasy |
12/1(-71%) | (5) Faded Fantasy 12/1, Had been going the right way over hurdles, easily winning a maiden at Southwell (20.4f) in June. However, he's struggled in handicaps since, so he needs to get back on track returned to this longer trip with tongue strap added. Quite stylish maiden winner last June but subsequent handicap form was disappointing. |

4th (1) (15/8 +25%) Zestful Hope |
15/8(+25%) | (1) Zestful Hope 15/8, Won a pair of handicap hurdles here in 2022/23, including over C&D. Had been below that level this season (including over fences) until returning to form when runner-up at Huntingdon (20.7f) 20 days ago. Major player back at this venue. Triple course winner; below best this term but was second off much-reduced mark last month. |

5th (3) (15/2 -88%) Let's Go Joe |
15/2(-88%) | (3) Let's Go Joe 15/2, Runner-up in a point before making a winning hurdles bow for new yard in maiden at Sedgefield (19.8f) in November. However, he was unable to land the odds in novice at Catterick last time, so improvement required as he makes his handicap debut. Sedgefield maiden winner on hurdle debut; beaten at odds-on since but remains of interest. |

6th (9) (12/1 -50%) Jukebox D'eddy |
12/1(-50%) | (9) Jukebox D'eddy 12/1, With the hood left off, completed for the first time since the spring when fourth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f) in January, running to a similar level as he had shown last season. Task is now to build on that. Seemingly back on track when creditable fourth of 13 at Uttoxeter in December; a possible. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (6) (16/1 -191%) Don Occhetti |
16/1(-191%) | (6) Don Occhetti 16/1, Some encouragement in a bumper and showed more than on his hurdles debut when sixth of 10 in novice at Kempton (2m) in January. Well held at Huntingdon since, but he could take a step forward as he goes handicapping back up in distance. Unable to land a telling blow in three maiden/novice hurdles; may do better in handicaps. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
The unexposed LET'S GO JOE looked very much a work in progress when finishing a close-up fourth over an extended 2m3f at Catterick most recently and, off what looks to be a workable opening mark, he can come home in front for his in-form stable. Zestful Hope warrants respect on the back of an admirable second-placed finish over an extended 2m4f at Huntingdon in January, while better can be expected from Don Occhetti on his first start in a handicap.
All 3 of ZESTFUL HOPE's victories have come at this course and, having bounced back to form when runner-up at Huntingdon last month, he could be ready to return to winning ways from a handy mark. Galahad Threepwood looked unsuited by conditions on his latest outing so is worth another chance, with Iron d'Ex completing the shortlist.
Triple course winner ZESTFUL HOPE turned things around with a good run three weeks ago and now returns to his happy hunting ground.

Creditable fifth of 14 in handicap at this course (10.7f, 14/1) 12 days ago, would have benefited from stronger handling. Not ruled out. Bounced back to an extent over 1m2f here two weeks ago; vulnerable over this trip. |

9/1(+44%) | (3) Atlantic Island 9/1, 17/2, creditable 5¼ lengths fifth of 14 to Picpoul in handicap at this course (10.7f) 63 days ago. Not discounted. Form over this trip is more patchy and others probably more likely. |

ST CIANANS FIRE won three times in the space of 10 weeks for John McConnell, including twice at this venue, back in 2022 and the six-year-old gelding made a bright start for Shane Crawley over C&D last month when beating all bar Secret Rock. Wishes And Dreams is an obvious threat following a series of placed efforts since sent handicapping here this winter. She makes a quick reappearance after only going down by a neck to the selection's well-backed stablemate Dreams Fled Away last Friday. Five-time course winner Power Drive normally sets the pace, but was patiently ridden when staying on well behind Together Acclaim earlier this month. Others for the shortlist include Gracesolution and Kiwi Kiss.
WISHES AND DREAMS made a promising start for her new yard when runner-up over C&D and can build on it to get off the mark. Gracesolution didn't enjoy the rub of the green when fifth here last time and is next on the list while St Cianans Fire, Nevada Brave and Lucky Question all need factoring into this very open handicap too.
Preference is for ST CIANANS FIRE after a fine effort over C&D last month and with the stable among the winners

|PU| (4) (14/1 +30%) Clongowes |
14/1(+30%) | (4) Clongowes 14/1, Flat winner back in 2017 but he remains a maiden in this sphere and hasn't fired the last twice. Others preferred. Bit below form on his first two runs for yard, then heavy ground was an excuse on latest. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
CEEJAYBE found only a handicap blot too strong at Huntingdon last week and the Jo Davis-trained juvenile must hold every chance of finishing one place better if coping with the quick turnaround. Time To Dazzle was runner-up on his handicap bow over two miles at Uttoxeter and this stiffer test of stamina is likely to suit. Any market support for All Under Control off an opening mark of 74 would be interesting. Goguenard is an obvious contender after bypassing Tuesday's Lingfield engagement.
TIME TO DAZZLE took a significant step forward when runner-up on his handicap debut at Uttoxeter last time and he boasts excellent claims of going one better at the possible expense of Ceejaybe, who ran well at Huntingdon last week. Goguenard is another big danger.
Ceejaybe, Goguenard and Time To Dazzle have claims but, from 5lb wrong, QUEEN OF STEEL could prove well suited by the trip.

This is well within the reach of the in-form ASPIRE TO GLORY, whose hat-trick bid wasn't helped by a slow start over 7f here. However, the Alice Haynes-trained gelding has improved since being fitted with a hood and teaming up with Tommie Jakes, and with the longer trip a possible counter for any early tardiness, he is worth another chance in a moderate race such as this. Eccentric and Tejesueno are a couple of others to consider.
ECCENTRIC left his previous form well behind when a close second at Lingfield last time and he narrowly gets the nod over Aspire To Glory, who shaped as if still in top form despite failing to land the hat-trick over 7f here last week. Con Te Partiro showed little in a trio of runs over sprint trips but is bred to be more at home over this sort of distance and is an intriguing handicap newcomer with Hollie Doyle aboard.
A weak contest and provided he doesn't blow his chance at the start, ASPIRE TO GLORY looks capable of getting back to winning ways.

1st (4) (13/8 +41%) Fourofakind |
13/8(+41%) | (4) Fourofakind 13/8, Fairly useful form on the Flat in Ireland and made it third time lucky in this sphere at Haydock last spring. Back to form when second of 9 in handicap hurdle at Wincanton (15.2f, heavy) 39 days ago. Perhaps not the easiest to win with but he remains with some handicapping scope from this mark. Took big step back in right direction when second last month and remains on a good mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (1) (4/1 -60%) Thank You Ma'am |
4/1(-60%) | (1) Thank You Ma'am 4/1, Improved from his debut in this sphere to make the frame on his last 3 outings in novice hurdles, albeit seeming unsuited by the drop back in trip when second in 8-runner event at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) 13 days ago. Opening mark looks workable and he's a player on handicap debut. Placed in three consecutive novice hurdles; ought to go well again in first handicap. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (7) (5/2 +69%) Fresh Speculation |
5/2(+69%) | (7) Fresh Speculation 5/2, Showed a bit when mid-field only start in bumper and has seemingly been brought along with handicaps in mind across a trio of outings around 2m. Step up in trip should suit and he's worth noting in market switched to handicaps. Showed only minor promise in maiden/novice hurdles but open to improvement in handicaps. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (12/1 -100%) Toronet |
12/1(-100%) | (3) Toronet 12/1, Winner of a French claiming hurdle last February (subsequently claimed from Julien Phelippon for €19,999) and produced his best effort on these shores when third of 6 in handicap hurdle (33/1) at Uttoxeter (19.9f, heavy) 18 days ago. Likely needs mark to ease further to make a greater impact still. Soundly beaten on first two British starts but recent Uttoxeter third was much better. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/2 +8%) Iris Des Issards |
11/2(+8%) | (2) Iris Des Issards 11/2, Point recruit who ran to fair level second time up over hurdles to finish runner-up in 17f Exeter maiden in December. Perhaps found the run coming a bit quick on him when pulled up back there 19 days later and he's not discounted now switched to handicaps. Flopped in final qualifying run but has claims if judged on Exeter second in December. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (8) (80/1 -21%) Zufal |
80/1(-21%) | (8) Zufal 80/1, Came from a long way back to finish fourth at Newton Abbot in May but little form otherwise and he's opposable again. Struggled when 80-1 for handicap debut in December; upped from 2m today. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (9) (16/1 -33%) Tik Tok |
16/1(-33%) | (9) Tik Tok 16/1, Bred to be smart and shaped with a little encouragement on his sole start in bumpers. Not given a hard time so far over hurdles and expected to do better now handicapping. Well worth a market check. Makes handicap debut after one-year absence but is very unexposed. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|PU| (6) (50/1 -317%) Millford Sound |
50/1(-317%) | (6) Millford Sound 50/1, Fair maiden hurdler for Peter Fahey in 2021. Showed little on Flat in 2022 and can only be watched having first start of any kind in 17 months. Absent since two very disappointing Flat runs in Ireland in September 2022. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
THANK YOU MA'AM bumped into a useful rival when finishing second over 1m7f at Wincanton earlier this month and, stepping up in trip on his handicap debut, he gets the tentative vote to show his rivals the way home. Fourofakind may prove to be the main danger after a creditable second over 1m7f last month, while dual-purpose performer Millford Sound has some form over hurdles in Ireland that would see him hit the frame on his stable debut.
A couple of handicap newcomers make this an interesting heat, with THANK YOU MA'AM perhaps most appealing going back up in trip after a trio of very solid runs in novice company. Fourofakind made fairly heavy weather of things when runner-up at Wincanton last month but remains low mileage for a fine yard, whilst Fresh Speculation is another who looks intriguing stepped up in trip for his handicap bow.
Handicap debutant IRIS DES ISSARDS struggled on heavy ground last time but is of significant interest if judged on his previous run.

1st (1) (4/1 -78%) Yokkell |
4/1(-78%) | (1) Yokkell 4/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 11 runs last year. Latest win here in December. Creditable second of 9 in handicap (7/2) at this course (12f) 12 days ago, conceding first run. Leading claims. Has won two of his four starts here since joining this stable, 5l second on latest. |

2nd (6) (5/1 +58%) Garrick Painter |
5/1(+58%) | (6) Garrick Painter 5/1, C&D winner. Latest win here in December. 8/1, respectable eighth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Others look better treated. C&D winner in December, well beaten in a race in which Emeric was third two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (8) (2/1 +20%) Emeric |
2/1(+20%) | (8) Emeric 2/1, C&D winner. Three wins from 5 runs last year. 15/2, creditable third of 14 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. One to consider. Won back-to-back over C&D last spring; good chance following third here a fortnight ago. |

4th (4) (4/1 +50%) Seattle Creek |
4/1(+50%) | (4) Seattle Creek 4/1, Course winner. Creditable second of 9 in handicap (10/1) at this course (12f). Off 14 months. Cheekpieces back on. Has good record at this track and potentially well treated if fully wound up after extended break. Set tough tasks before second in a 1m4f handicap 14 months ago, long absence to overcome. |

5th (2) (4/1 +0%) Roman Bull |
4/1(+0%) | (2) Roman Bull 4/1, Career best when winning 13-runner handicap at this course (12f, 7/1). Off 7 months. Might need this return but still merits respect. C&D winner last July, 5lb higher and may need the run after seven months off. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (5) (50/1 -317%) Bright Start |
50/1(-317%) | (5) Bright Start 50/1, Thirteen runs since last win in 2021. Fifth of 6 in handicap (9/2) at Lingfield (10f, good to firm). Off 7 months. First run for yard after leaving Saeed Bin Suroor. Worth a market check. 1-19 for Godolphin, out of sorts in 2022, no sign of a revival in 2023, career-low mark. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (7) (20/1 -25%) Pachmena |
20/1(-25%) | (7) Pachmena 20/1, C&D winner. Two wins from 42 Flat runs. 20/1, ninth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago, slowly away. Others make more appeal. C&D winner, better recent form has come over 1m4f, held by Emeric on running two weeks ago. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (9) (66/1 -100%) Hangry |
66/1(-100%) | (9) Hangry 66/1, 80/1, thirteenth of 14 in handicap at this C&D 14 days ago. Very hard to make a case for. French import, struggled on recent Irish handicap debut over C&D, well held by Emeric. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
9th (3) (28/1 -133%) Snapius |
28/1(-133%) | (3) Snapius 28/1, Blinkered for 1st time, pulled up in handicap hurdle (28/1) at Galway (16.6f, soft). Off 6 months. Down in trip. Fairly useful on the Flat, creditable on last Flat outing. Merits consideration. Winner on good ground for Joseph O'Brien, should cope with surface but lacks a recent run. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's race.
EMERIC won twice over C&D last spring and was also on the mark over a mile at Leopardstown in July. The Paul Flynn-trained gelding has returned to the Polytrack this winter and had a number of these rivals behind when third to Unterberg a fortnight ago. Yokkell has done well since joining John McConnell last autumn, winning twice at this venue, and despite a combined rise of 10lb in the ratings, filled the runner-up spot behind War Correspondent earlier this month. Roman Bull was second a couple of times here last spring and also won over 1m4f in July. It will be interesting to see how strong he is in the market after a seven-month break, while Garrick Painter won over C&D on his penultimate start.
YOKKELL found one too good in her hat-trick bid last time but she wasn't seen to best effect and this thriving mare is worth a chance to resume winning ways in the hope that the pace is solid. Seattle Creek is a major player if ready to go following a year off the track and Emeric can't be ruled out.
Twice successful over C&D last spring, EMERIC looks poised to add to his tally having finished close up in third here a fortnight ago

2/5(-21%) | (5) Native Approach 2/5, Hooded and shaped with lots of encouragement when second of 9 in maiden at this course (7f, 5/6) on debut 21 days ago, caught further back than ideal. Open to plenty of improvement and very much the one to beat. Close second after starting slowly on debut here last month; extra furlong should suit. |

2nd (3) (7/2 -27%) Calumet |
7/2(-27%) | (3) Calumet 7/2, Shaped well amidst greenness when second of 8 in maiden at this C&D (9/2) on debut 18 days ago, carrying head shade awkwardly. Should progress. Beaten a short head on his debut over C&D last month; contender. |

3rd (4) (17/2 -13%) Jolly Jack Tar |
17/2(-13%) | (4) Jolly Jack Tar 17/2, Too Darn Hot gelding. Closely related to 1¼m winner First Snowfall and half-brother to 1m/9f winner Act Fast. Dam smart 1¼m-1½m winner. Much respected on debut for top connections. Out of a Ribblesdale winner; respected on debut for powerful yard, especially if backed. |

33/1(-200%) | (6) Operate 33/1, €36,000 yearling, 65,000 gns 2-y-o, Kodi Bear gelding. Dam, French 2-y-o 6f winner, half-sister to smart 1m winner (stayed 1¼m) Paris Winds out of Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Lil's Jessy. Warrants respect on debut. Worth a market check on debut for stable that has a fine record with newcomers. |

8th (7) (300/1 -200%) Potters Diamond |
300/1(-200%) | (7) Potters Diamond 300/1, Well held in a pair of novice events. 200-1 for both starts late last year and showed very little.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
NATIVE APPROACH was slowly away on debut over 7f here last month, but impressed by running on well to finish a close second behind a colt who was a big market mover on the day. Sure to be wiser, the son of Too Darn Hot appeals strongly, with the step up to a mile likely to suit on pedigree. Jolly Jack Tar, by the same sire and representing the same owners as the selection, is a noteworthy debutant. Calumet and Calculate are others to bear in mind.
NATIVE APPROACH looked a shade unfortunate not to make a winning debut here 3 weeks ago having been caught further back than ideal and is the obvious choice to go one better with improvement on the cards. Jolly Jack Tar, also representing Godolphin, is a respected newcomer, with Calumet entitled to build on his recent C&D debut and in the mix.
The choice is NATIVE APPROACH, a close second on his debut here last month following a tardy start. This extra furlong should suit.

1st (5) (10/11 +17%) Musical Dancer |
10/11(+17%) | (5) Musical Dancer 10/11, Dubawi colt. Brother to very smart 1m/8.5f winner Laugh Aloud. Showed ability when fourth of 8 in a C&D maiden on debut 18 days ago, weakening final 1f and not knocked about. Sure to have derived plenty from that experience and well worth considering for powerful stable. Fourth on his debut over C&D last month; should have learnt from that. |

2nd (6) (2/1 +20%) Rogue Encore |
2/1(+20%) | (6) Rogue Encore 2/1, 52,000 gns yearling, 145,000 gns 2-y-o, Kodiac colt. Dam 2-y-o 1m winner who stayed 12.5f. Another to monitor closely in the betting on debut with Oisin Murphy an eye-catching booking. Wears tongue strap. Stable can get them ready first time; tongue-tie on; needs a market check. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (7/2 +13%) King David |
7/2(+13%) | (3) King David 7/2, Exceed And Excel colt. 10/1, fourth of 10 in maiden at this course (7f) on debut 23 days ago, running green but encouragingly making late headway. Entitled to improve and step up to 1m rates a likely plus. Promising fourth on his debut here last month; extra furlong shouldn't be a problem. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (7) (10/1 -150%) Lady Bancroft |
10/1(-150%) | (7) Lady Bancroft 10/1, 110,000 gns yearling, No Nay Never filly. Half-sister to several winners, including 1m-1¼m winner Mask of Time and 1½m winner Milestone, both useful. Makes plenty of appeal on paper for very good stable and she's well worth a second look. Plenty to like on pedigree and stable has a good record with newcomers; market informative. |

5th (1) (250/1 -279%) Baby Belle |
250/1(-279%) | (1) Baby Belle 250/1, Once-raced mare. 66/1, eighth of 9 in maiden at this C&D on debut 11 days ago, lost all chance at start. Best watched. Beat just one home following a poor start on her belated debut over C&D 11 days ago. |

6th (8) (250/1 -279%) Venus Slipper |
250/1(-279%) | (8) Venus Slipper 250/1, Once-raced filly. 40/1 and tongue strap on, ninth of 10 in minor event at Wolverhampton (7.2f) on debut 16 days ago. First run for yard after leaving Simon & Ed Crisford. Well beaten at Wolverhampton last month in her one start for the Crisfords. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (250/1 -279%) Lightning Bay |
250/1(-279%) | (4) Lightning Bay 250/1, Thrice-raced gelding. 200/1, again showed nothing when last of 9 in maiden at this course (7f) 21 days ago. Easy enough to look elsewhere. Has beaten a total of one rival in three starts; may show more when allocated a mark. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
Rogue Encore, who changed hands for 145,000gns, is from a good family and has Oisin Murphy booked for his debut, so he needs to be monitored in the betting. However, MUSICAL DANCER has experience on his side after running very green to finish fourth over C&D and should have learned a great deal. Charlie Appleby's colt is likely to have plenty more to come and he looks the one to beat. Any market support for 110,000gns purchase Lady Bancroft should also be noted.
MUSICAL DANCER showed ability without being given an overly hard time when fourth on debut in a C&D maiden 18 days ago and, with that experience under his belt, Charlie Appleby's well-bred colt may well be the answer. There are several interesting newcomers in opposition though, Lady Bancroft and Rogue Encore both demanding close market attention. King David rates another likely improver with his debut run under his belt.
Preference is for KING DAVID who did well in the circumstances when fourth of ten on his debut here last month.

13/2(+13%) | (7) Smiling Sunflower 13/2, Course winner. Eleven runs since last win in 2023. Fourth of 5 in handicap (5/1) at Chelmsford City (8f) 5 days ago, not ideally placed. Stepping back in the right direction. Below her best lately as when fourth of five at Chelmsford last Friday; much more needed. |

2nd (3) (13/8 +28%) Inverlochy |
13/8(+28%) | (3) Inverlochy 13/8, Proving steadily progressive, gaining a second hard-fought success of the year in 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 16 days ago, driven out. Forced into a better class of handicap for hat-trick bid but needs respecting all the same. Record since contesting AW handicaps reads 411211; another 3lb rise may well not stop her. |

4/1(+0%) | (6) Measured Moments 4/1, 3/1, 2½ lengths fourth of 5 to Crystal Casque in handicap at Lingfield (8f, AW) 53 days ago, not ideally placed. Expected to be bounce back. Sharper test seemed to find her out at Lingfield (1m) last time; similar scenario likely. |

4th (4) (7/2 +50%) Incrimination |
7/2(+50%) | (4) Incrimination 7/2, One win from 3 runs last year. Off 10 months, sixth of 7 in handicap (17/2) at Lingfield (6f, AW) 10 days ago, not ideally placed. Significantly up in trip and entitled to come on for recent run. Lightly raced 5yo; probably needed recent return; has shaped as though she will stay 1m. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (2) (11/2 +15%) Crystal Casque |
11/2(+15%) | (2) Crystal Casque 11/2, 3-time C&D winner who failed to come on for recent run when last of 4 in handicap at this course (7f) 23 days ago. 5-27 around here; has bounced back from a modest effort before; not dismissed. |

6th (5) (22/1 -83%) Lady Lavina |
22/1(-83%) | (5) Lady Lavina 22/1, Course winner. Creditable fifth of 10 in handicap (100/1) at Lingfield (7f, AW) 63 days ago, despite not clear run home turn. Bit better on her second start back from a lengthy absence, but still more needed. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 4 race.
INVERLOCHY has proven to be a completely different proposition on the all-weather, winning four out of seven, with all of those victories coming in her last five attempts. The Crisfords' filly is stepping up the ranks at a rate of knots and is only 3lb higher than for her latest success at Wolverhampton. Crystal Casque may have finished last of four over 7f here but she wasn't beaten far and could get closer, with the drop in grade aiding her cause. Measured Moments wasn't far behind her just before Christmas and also enters the equation.
MEASURED MOMENTS wasn't ideally placed when behind Crystal Casque at Lingfield on her most recent outing in December and is fancied to bounce back from a break with a bang. Incrimination is entitled to come on for her recent run and can have a big say in proceedings if seeing out this longer trip, with hat-trick seeker Inverlochy also feared.
It's hard to oppose the progressive INVERLOCHY (nap) in her bid to make it five wins from her last six starts.

6/5(+56%) | (4) Batal Dubai 6/5, Latest win at Chelmsford City in October. 15/2, respectable third of 13 in handicap at Newcastle (6f) 44 days ago. Possible he'll be sharper with that run under his belt and no surprise to see a good showing. Just behind Fivethousandtoone last time; 2lb better off and shouldn't be far away. |

4/1(-33%) | (2) Chipstead 4/1, Returned to form when narrow winner of a C&D handicap in December and did best of those from off the pace when fifth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (5f) 25 days ago. Fancied to give another good account. Won over C&D on penultimate start but that was in a steadily run race; doubts remain. |

Seen only twice since and first start for 8 months at Lingfield 10 days ago likely best overlooked (hung badly right home turn). This promises to reveal more. Runner-up in a Group 3 at Ascot last May but twice well beaten since; needs to bounce back. |

22/1(-159%) | (5) Home City 22/1, Useful performer at his best for Saeed Bin Suroor but absent since finishing well-beaten last of 9 in handicap at Musselburgh (7.2f) back in June. Betting should prove a useful guide starting out for new connections. 1-14 for Saeed bin Suroor; makes stable debut after 256 days off; needs a market check. |

6th (6) (10/1 -67%) Blind Beggar |
10/1(-67%) | (6) Blind Beggar 10/1, Three wins from 11 runs last year, the latest at Chelmsford (5f) in November. Comes here in good form, creditable third of 12 in handicap back at that venue 24 days ago. Up in grade here but he could get his own way on the front end. Has run well over 6f in both starts this year but this trip does appear to stretch him. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 2 race.
FIVETHOUSANDTOONE (second) had Batal Dubai (third) just over a length behind over this trip in this grade when sporting a first-time visor at Newcastle last month and he was only put up 2lb for that performance. The son of Frankel possesses the best most recent form on offer and he looks the way to go. As for the latter, he is less exposed than his rival and could take a step forward to get closer, while The X O is an interesting contender stepping back into handicap company for the first time since last March.
BATAL DUBAI ran well on his first start for 11 weeks, whilst highlighting he may sharpen up for the run, when third at Newcastle on New Year's Day and in a race that is highly likely to become tactical, he could well be the answer. Fivethousandtoone is proving most consistent and he's a threat, along with Chipstead, who landed a similar contest on his penultimate start over C&D in December.
This may be a good chance for FIVETHOUSANDTOONE to improve his modest strike-rate after solid runner-up efforts in his last two starts.

5th (7) (4/1 +20%) The Bay Warrior |
4/1(+20%) | (7) The Bay Warrior 4/1, Course winner. Latest win here in January. 11/2, creditable fourth of 9 in handicap at this C&D 21 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Well in the mix. 1m3f course winner; outpaced when they set sail for home over C&D latest; not ruled out.. |

80/1(-627%) | (1) Orange Martini 80/1, 8/1, last of 11 in handicap at this course (11f). Off 100 days. First run for yard after leaving Andrew Balding and needs to bounce back. Left Andrew Balding since finishing last of 11 here (1m3f) last November; bit to prove.. |

13/2(-8%) | (2) Tidal Storm 13/2, C&D winner. 11/1 and tongue strap/cheekpieces on for 1st time, pulled up in handicap hurdle at Exeter (18.5f, heavy) 63 days ago. Blinkers on 1st time with more needed. Drops 4lb for his return to this code; blinkers go on; plenty to prove at present.. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
ESCARPMENT took a step in the right direction when third at Wolverhampton over 1m6f at the start of the month and the drop back in trip, along with the application of a first-time visor, may see the four-year-old shed his maiden tag. The Bay Warrior scored here on his penultimate outing and commands respect, while Grigio is capable of a decent showing following his recent third at this track.
GRIGIO arrives on the back of a very good recent third here and remains with few miles on the clock so looks the way to go in an open contest. Course winner The Bay Warrior is weighted to have a big say, while Renardeau is another who commands plenty of respect having not been seen to best effect over C&D last time.
The suggestion is ESCARPMENT, who showed more last time and could benefit from this drop back in trip and application of headgear.

1st (2) (4/5 +54%) Night At Sea |
4/5(+54%) | (2) Night At Sea 4/5, Creditable second of 12 in handicap (5/1) at Wolverhampton (14f) 11 days ago. Worth chancing to go one better in a thin race. Runner-up in her last two handicaps and she's a big player on this drop back in trip. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
2nd (7) (7/1 -8%) Mr Boson |
7/1(-8%) | (7) Mr Boson 7/1, 8/1, creditable sixth of 12 in handicap at this course (11f) 14 days ago. Tongue strap on 1st time. Edging down to a handy mark. Inconsistent seven-race maiden and others are more convincing; tongue-tie added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
3rd (3) (13/2 -63%) Fox Flame |
13/2(-63%) | (3) Fox Flame 13/2, Three wins from 17 runs last year. Good fourth of 12 in handicap at Wolverhampton (14f, 16/1) 11 days ago. Back to a potentially lenient mark but she's not the most straightforward. Showed signs of a revival at Wolverhampton and has claims if she can build on that. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (8) (33/1 +50%) Logistical |
33/1(+50%) | (8) Logistical 33/1, Visor on for 1st time in this code, eighth of 12 in handicap (100/1) at this course (11f) 14 days ago. Cheekpieces back on. Something to find on form. 0-13 Flat/jumps and he's been well held in his two runs for new yard this winter. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5th (1) (11/1 -47%) Militry Decoration |
11/1(-47%) | (1) Militry Decoration 11/1, Seventh of 10 in handicap (33/1) at this course (16f) 21 days ago. Back down in trip/grade and should strip fitter for latest effort. Not dismissed. On a dangerous mark but he has something to prove and last win was at 1m6f. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
6th (6) (6/1 +14%) Pablo Prince |
6/1(+14%) | (6) Pablo Prince 6/1, 6/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (13f, AW) 31 days ago, slowly away. Wasn't ideally placed last time and cheekpieces could have a positive effect, so he's worthy of respect. On last winning mark but he needs to rediscover his spark; cheekpieces added. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (4) (12/1 -200%) Red Royalist |
12/1(-200%) | (4) Red Royalist 12/1, 40/1, creditable fifth of 10 in handicap at Southwell (12.1f) 36 days ago, well positioned. Should give his running again. Fair fifth at Southwell last time when he may have done too much too soon; not ruled out. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
8th (5) (80/1 -900%) Makanao |
80/1(-900%) | (5) Makanao 80/1, Twelfth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Wincanton (19.8f, soft, 25/1) 83 days ago. Fair on the Flat, poor on last Flat run. Tough to assess at present. Disappointing over hurdles last twice but he needs watching in the market back on Flat. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 5 race.
NIGHT AT SEA brings a consistent level of form to the table having filled the runner-up spot on her most recent starts at Lingfield and Wolverhampton. This appears to be an excellent opportunity for Andrew Balding's filly in a contest that lacks much depth on paper. Pablo Prince could bounce back from a below par effort at Lingfield in first-time cheekpieces, with Mr Boson one to note with a tongue-tie equipped.
NIGHT AT SEA arrives in good order and hasn't had much racing, so she's a solid choice. There are a few well treated rivals in opposition, notably Militry Decoration, who should come on for his reappearance. Pablo Prince is also worthy of consideration.
Top of the list is NIGHT AT SEA, who chased home an improver at Wolverhampton last time and is a big player back at this trip.

10/3(-21%) | (2) Storm Valley 10/3, Creditable second of 6 in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f, 11/4) 29 days ago, running on. Should be on the premises again. Placed at Wolverhampton in both runs for new yard and she's a key player back up in trip. |

2nd (6) (66/1 -560%) Sky Dancer |
66/1(-560%) | (6) Sky Dancer 66/1, Lightly-raced maiden. 66/1, last of 11 in nursery at Thirsk (8f, good to soft). Off 17 months. Significantly up in trip. 3rd (9) (7/2 +75%) Red Dwarf |
7/2(+75%) | (9) Red Dwarf 7/2, 17/2, fourth of 8 in minor event at this C&D 14 days ago. Potentially well treated on early efforts, so not one to write off. On a reduced mark and she made some late headway over C&D last time; could be dangerous. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
4th (3) (9/1 -64%) Opticality |
9/1(-64%) | (3) Opticality 9/1, Cheekpieces on for 1st time in this code, very good fifth of 13 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (16.5f, good to soft, 16/1) 37 days ago. Potentially well treated returning to the Flat. Inconsistent 6yo who is 1-22 and comes with risks attached back on the Flat. |

5th (7) (7/2 +36%) Perthshire |
7/2(+36%) | (7) Perthshire 7/2, 11/2, fifth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (14f) 55 days ago. Back down in trip. Tongue strap on 1st time, cheekpieces on 1st time. Has also had breathing operation and stable is going well, so one to be interested in. Some fair efforts since returning from a long absence and he's not ruled out; had wind op. |

6th (13) (10/1 +17%) Daany |
10/1(+17%) | (13) Daany 10/1, Eighteen runs since last win in 2021. 17/2, seventh of 11 in handicap hurdle at Ffos Las (15.8f, heavy) 13 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Hard to fancy based on Flat form. On a dangerous mark back on the Flat but he's not easy to predict and others are preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7th (11) (8/1 -60%) Gold Standard |
8/1(-60%) | (11) Gold Standard 8/1, Good third of 11 in handicap (20/1) at Lingfield (12f, AW) 19 days ago, slowly away. |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
10th (4) (12/1 -20%) Bletchley Storm |
12/1(-20%) | (4) Bletchley Storm 12/1, 11/1, first run since leaving Michael Bell when fourth of 7 in handicap at Wolverhampton (8.6f) 26 days ago, slowly away. Back up in trip. Sort that her new stable could get more out of. 11-race maiden who has finished down the field in her last five runs; others preferred. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
11th (10) (28/1 -75%) Lucky Protector |
28/1(-75%) | (10) Lucky Protector 28/1, Last of 7 in handicap at Chelmsford City (8f, 18/1) 13 days ago. Significantly up in trip. Something to find on form. Eight-race maiden who has struggled in four AW handicaps this winter; lots to prove. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12th (14) (66/1 -164%) Tiger Touch |
66/1(-164%) | (14) Tiger Touch 66/1, Fourteen runs since last win in 2020. Eighth of 11 in handicap (125/1) at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 16 days ago. Has a bit to prove. Sole win was in France in 2020 and his British record is unconvincing; opposable. |
The chart reads from right to left to today's class 6 race.
STORM VALLEY seems to have benefited from a change of scenery based on her recent placed efforts at Wolverhampton and the manner of those performances also suggest a step back up in trip is worth another try. Red Dwarf wasn't disgraced when fourth in a classified event over C&D and remains unexposed over this trip. Gold Standard and Perthshire can fight it out for minor honours.
PERTHSHIRE is handicapped to win and he's undergone a breathing operation since last seen, so he's worth taking a chance on with two new pieces of equipment also applied. Storm Valley and Gold Standard both arrive on the back of creditable efforts, so they're regarded as dangers.
Preference is for STORM VALLEY who has finished placed in both runs this winter and looks a big player back up in trip.
Ths is the racecard key.
